Gender Roles In Theatre
Introduction
We decided on this research topic as a group after having been assigned the category of gender and
sexuality. I had mentioned to my group that I had seen a significantly lower number of men in the
theatre program at my high school, and this trend only seemed to continue as I reached post secondary.
My colleagues agreed and stated their own experiences of either playing a character of a different
gender in plays they had been in, or watching a play and seeing a clear difference between the number
of men and women on stage. This brought us to consider why this might be the case. Why are there so
few men in theatre? I then brought up how, being a film student, there never seems to be a shortage of
male actors for our films. My colleagues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We added a variety of professions and career fields, ranging from nurse to business executive
including, of course, film and theatre acting in between. We chose the professions to rate based on
what we as a research team considered stereotypically masculine or feminine, and balancing it out
with some careers we considered neutral. We were also sure to include a variety of fine arts
professions in order to mask our intention behind the survey so that it would be more difficult for
someone to throw the results. These were then randomized differently for every survey participant.
These results were used to directly answer our research question/ test our hypothesis. Anonymity was
ensured by the fact that there was no question asking participants to enter their name, age or post
secondary institution, and consent was achieved by the first question of our survey being a short
consent form. Had a participant decided they did not want to continue, their information would not be
collected and they could close the window at any

Hap Poem By John Clarke
What is Hap? I don t know. A name? The poem, Hap, is about undeserved suffering. The narrator has
suffered the loss of his love by chance, and he is desperate to know a reason why. That way, he could
hold onto his resentment and die, holding onto the knowledge that his love at least died for a reason.
The narrator wants to know that there was deliberate thought put into his love s removal from earth,
that someone had recognized and acknowledged the suffering he is experiencing. As it is, he is
dumbfoundedly numb knowing his lover died by chance, for no reason, as easily as one loses at dice.
The narrator in this poem had known bliss in the form of his love. He refers to his love simply as joy
at one point, as if all the joy in his life

Drinking Water Quality
Abstract
The experiment aimed at determining the quality of drinking water through the examination and
comparison of the level of contamination in tap water, Fiji bottled water and Dasani bottled water.
Through the experiment the researcher wanted to prove that bottled water is worth the cost. The
methods used included the ammonia test strip experiment, the chloride test strip experiment, the 4 in 1
test strip experiment, the phosphate test strip experiment and the iron test strip experiment, which
were simultaneously performed for the three water samples. The results indicated that bottled water
tend to be less contaminated as compared to tap water, thus making them safe for drinking and
effective for preventing waterborne diseases. the Dasani water had the lowest level of contamination,
followed by the Fiji water, with the tap water having the highest level of water contamination.

Humbert And Lolita
Not only does he alter his claims, Humbert was also found to be blatantly lying to other people.
Shortly after Charlotte Haze s death he is met by the Farlows and is able to subtly convince them that
he is Lolita s actual father. Jean Farlow says, John, she is his child, not Harold Haze s. Don t you
understand? Humbert is Dolly s real father (Nabokov 101). Humbert is able to convince Jean by
telling her that he had an affair with Charlotte years ago. Jean is completely convinced as seen in her
statement towards her husband. She is repetitive in mentioning that Humbert is Lolita s father. In
addition she asks her husband if he is able to follow what she is trying to say. Humbert managed to
convince her that he is Lolita s true father which completely removes any suspicions on what he plans
to do with Lolita. If Humbert failed to convince her, they might have questioned who should take
custody of Lolita thus ending Humbert s plans. Seeing that Humbert can convince others of untruthful
things there is no guarantee in the legitimacy of what he tells the reader. Making it difficult for readers
to believe his defense. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He mentions, The reader will regret to learn that soon after my return to civilization I had another bout
with insanity (Nabokov 34). Humbert knows that the jury will not like knowing that he is not sane all
the time. This is also not the first time he has had this problem as he acknowledges this as another
bout with insanity. By telling the jury about this, Humbert has left a negative impression on the
readers. Now readers can view him as insane and should be more cautious about the evidence that he
brings to the table. It is worth mentioning that Humbert does this knowingly so it is possible that it is a
part of his plot to manipulate the reader and purposely alter their views on his

The Theory Of Social Psychology
Groups have the capability to influence the perspectives of individuals in a social gathering (Myers,
2010). This paper will analyze the meaning of a group dynamic and how it relates to social
psychology. This paper will give you an understanding on how individuals are influence by group
dynamics and social involvements. Finally, this paper will provide information that was collect from a
social group session interaction with collective studies to determine a conclusion. The interaction
during a group discussion can sometimes have a negative or positive aspect depending on the goal that
is trying to be achieve and the behavior of the individuals (Myers, 2010). During my observation on
the group session with the Girl s Scout Association, there was a strong social involvement with all of
the members. The group session had approximately twenty members. All of the members in the group
were women and their daughters. The member of the group was very diverse and all had different
cultures. The ages of the women and daughters range between six years old to forty years old. The
group purpose, mission and goals was help the young girls build courage, confidence, and character
within themselves. The purpose of the session was to come together and brainstorm ways to empower
the young girls. The goal was to teach and give them knowledge about responsibility, diversity,
leadership, and character. The duration of the group lasted for approximately two hour. I personal felt
that the two

Health Care Services Service Services
At present, the services sector continues to experience increasingly large growth, which occupies a
privileged position in the country s economy. The health service is situated in this part because of the
essential services that it provides for individuals, community health and peoples. Furthermore, the
health situation in a community presents an understandable picture of the extent of economic, social
and cultural development, which is why countries aspire to make progress and to increase interest in
the services provided by health institutions.
Undoubtedly the health care service is facing an increasingly complex challenge regarding the
provision of high quality services. According to the complexity of health care services and systems,
exploring and explaining the availability, utilisation, costs, quality and accessibility; the delivery and
continuity of health care services is the key to informing government officials, health insurers, health
providers, and the public and decision makers on the subject of health related issues. Therefore,
deciding health care needs and providing correct reactions to them ought not to be just the
employment of specialists. Rather, it must include the cooperation of different specialists who work
with and in the health care system consistently (Ashworth et al., 1992).
In spite of the fact that suppliers recognise that they need to accomplish something (i.e., order a test,
prescribe medication) to meet patients expectations regarding the

Top Of The Food Chain By T. C. Boyle
In the wild, there are food chains. In human society, there are social structures. Within that structure,
the U.S.A stands as the largest predator, the unbeatable force, much like a lion would be in the jungle.
However, does this superiority give us the right to mess with members in the lower half? This issue is
discussed in a short story by T.C Boyle, called Top of the Food Chain. The main argument in T.C
Boyle s story is stronger people trying to fix weaker people s problems can lead to even greater
problems. Boyle s argument that superiority does not always solve problems can be further seen
through his use of ethos. In the essay, the narrator is constantly describing how the people of Borneo
live in a degrading way. He writes, You ve got to realize this is Borneo we re talking about here, not
Port Townsend. These people don t know from square one about ... Show more content on

He writes the story so that the readers can understand and see the horrific chain of events. By writing
it this way, it becomes very apparent that the problem is the U.S. The best example of this is when the
narrator decides to spray the flies. This leads to the extermination of the gecko population because
they are poisoned by the sprayed flies. Finally, all of the cats die because they eat the poisoned geckos.
It is important to note that the narrator also uses logos to defend his original decision to spray the flies.
He writes, Well, you ve got to understand the magnitude of the fly problem in Borneo... Every minute
of every day you ve got flies everywhere, up your nose, in your mouth, your ears, your eyes... It s
enough to drive you to distraction, not to mention the diseases these things carry, from dysentery to
typhoid to cholera... He is not wrong, the fly problem is a big problem in the area. However, he should
have done more research on what product would have worked best in Borneo, instead of just assuming
that the stuff used in the U.S was

The Disease of Alcoholism Essay
The Disease of Alcoholism
Alcoholism is a primary, chronic disease with genetic, psychosocial, and environmental factors
influencing its development and manifestations. The disease is often progressive and fatal. Alcoholism
is a complex disease with physical, social and psychological consequences, but it can be treated
through detoxification and anti anxiety drugs. What will be explained in this essay is basically the
history of alcohol, signs of one possibly being an alcoholic, possibilities to why one becomes an
alcoholic, and treatments for it.
In the past, alcoholism was often viewed as a moral weakness or character flaw; it was thought that
the person could stop drinking if he or she really wanted to. It wasn t until 1970, with ... Show more

The APA manual distinguishes between alcoholism and alcohol abuse. The latter is a less severe
problem; unlike alcoholics, alcohol abusers do not develop physical withdrawal or compulsive alcohol
use. However, like alcoholics, their drinking has negative health, economic and social effects. Both
alcoholics and alcohol abusers need treatment, although the goals differ. In most cases of alcohol
abuse, the goal is to limit drinking, while for alcoholism, it is to stop drinking altogether.
Why some people become alcoholics remains a mystery, although most scientists now agree that a
combination of genetic and environmental factors increases a person s vulnerability.
Based on the results of Swedish adoption studies, some researchers divide alcoholism into two types.
Type I, the most common, occurs in both men and women and is associated with adult onset alcohol
dependence. This form, also known as milieu limited alcoholism, appears to be the result of genetic
predisposition and environmental provocation, according to NIAAA s 1991 publication Alcohol
Research: Promise for the Decade that is, the development of alcoholism in these cases is an
interaction between inherited predisposition and the person s life situations.
Type II, or male limited, alcoholism, on the other hand, is due mainly to genetics. It occurs only in
men, usually with early onset in the teen years, and is more difficult to

Similarities Between The Three Semitic Religions
SIMILARITIES:
The Similarities between the three Semitic Religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) are part of the
Abrahamic religious heritage. The three Semitic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam is that they
are monotheistic religions, meaning that they only believe in ONE God. All three Semitic religions
suppose that God had created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day. Each Semitic
religion has a list of basic rules to follow as guidance to Heaven.
The three Semitic religions do believe that we are the children of Abraham and that God had created
the world, and humans full of mystery.

Selma Sparknotes
The film Selma tells the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. s fight for equal voting rights during the
Civil Rights Movement of 1965. Many events in the beginning of the movie set up the plot for the rest
of the film; Dr. King accepts his Nobel Peace Prize, a group of black girls are killed in a bombing by
the Ku Klux Klan, and Annie Cooper is denied the ability to vote by a white registrar in Selma,
Alabama. King then asks President Lyndon Johnson to pass a law to allow African Americans to freely
register to vote. The unsure president tells King he has more important tasks to focus on and dismisses
the Reverend s request. Throughout the film, King s actions are logged with the time, depicting the
importance within the storyline. These events eventually lead up to King s march to the voting ...

courthouse in Selma, Alabama. After punching the sheriff because he poked her neck with a club,
Cooper is arrested. Dr. King travels to Selma and when checking into his hotel, is punched by a white

are still facing after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Dr. King, played by David Oyelowo, later makes an

How Did The Maccabees Influence The Jewish
The Jews shifted their allegiance to Alexander and in return Alexander allowed the Jews to observe
their own laws, gave them exemption from tribute tax during the Sabbath years. Alexander also
encouraged the Jewish people to live in Alexandria, Egypt and gave them privileges reserved for his
own Greek people. When Alexander died in 323 B. C., some of his generals divided the empire among
themselves: The Ptolemies of Egypt, the Seleucids of Persia and parts of Asia Minor, and the
Antigonids of Macedon. (Intertestamental Period New Testament Background, 2001).
At first, the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire controlled the Jews from 320 198 B. C., and then Seleucid
(Syrian) Empire, around 198 B. C., acquired control over the Jewish populace. While the Ptolemaic
Empire was tolerant of the Jewish culture and religion, the Seleucid Empire was not. The Seleucids
made determined efforts to force Hellenism on the Jews. Some accepted it, but most did not (Halley,
2000). The Greek Seleucid, Antiochus, severely punished the unaccepting Jews which eventually
provoked the Maccabees (Hasmonean Era) to revolt. By 164 B. C., the Maccabees controlled the area

From 2006 to 2007, Japan s inflation rate took a rapid increase from negative inflation in 2006 to
positive inflation rate in 2007. This sharp increase in inflation rate was likely to be due to the world s
shortage of rice crisis. As rice is Japan s main source of stable food, the rice crisis push up rice prices
globally, causing the inflation rate in Japan to rise sharply. Currently, there are speculation that Japan s
inflation rate may rose at the fastest pace in the decade as companies facing the global economic crisis
may pass higher costs to consumers.
Prices of daily necessities rose while pay stagnated, causing a sharp increase in consumer price index
and thus the increase in inflation rate.
3. Unemployment Rate
Japan s unemployment rate was 3.9% in 2008 and worsen during the global economy recession. The
ratio of jobs to applicants worsened, sliding to a two year low of 0.97. Currently, Japan s

The rise of the Safavids in the 15th century led to the reestablishment of a unified Iranian state and

what was arguably the most powerful empire at the time.[24] The 19th century conflicts with the

my test outcome. After gathering the likes that had accumulated I was able to determine which
inventory category was strongest. My top inventory was conventional which states, I am one who

each category within the level 5 education requirement, I had one job that stood out over the others;
category one conventional had Math Professor. This job is something that would be interesting, but I

This essay seeks to discuss the statement of The criminal justice system is failing children and young
offenders in the UK by considering both whether our justice system is delivering the overhaul of the
youth justice systems aims of
Providing the criminal justice system with an appropriate selection of sentencing choices and focusing
any sentencing on preventing re offending by stopping the vicious cycle young offenders tend to fall
into. This report will also discuss the widely shared opinion that our justice system is severely
inadequate for UK s young people therefore failing to rehabilitate young offenders and strongly
promote and enforce restorative justice as Sir Alan Beth MP (The Chair of the Youth Justice
Committee) intends to. According to UK Governments official crime rate stats, In 2015 there were
around 950,000 arrests made in England and Wales, of which 94,960 were of people aged 10 17 years.
This immediately shows how obligatory it is for our system to be constructive for young offenders and
therefore advantageous for society in decreasing crime rates within young people.

Analysis of Pauline Puyatā€™s TracksĀEssay
Analysis of Pauline Puyat s TracksĀ
One of the most striking characteristics of Pauline Puyat is her devout Catholicism and her desire to be
disconnected from the Ojibwa people. Throughout Tracks, she openly chooses Catholicism over her
native religion and abandons her native ways almost completely. When Pauline tries to help Fleur
prevent a miscarriage, she is literally held back by her conscious separation from the Ojibwa culture.
There are many things that Pauline fails to do to effectively prevent Fleur from miscarrying. The most
obvious is her failure to efficiently put together the herbal steep made of Alder: And I could not
remember the plant s configuration, even though its use was common enough for bleeding ... Show

Pauline s personification of the plants only continues this idea of confusion and abandonment. Her
prayer to the Catholic God is almost ironic; Pauline is begging her God to help her remember the
practices that she thinks sacrilegious.
Pauline s Catholicism and her duties as an Angel of Death continue to control her for the rest of the
passage. Before giving Fleur the Alder (or whatever herb she actually grabbed) steep, Pauline is
captivated by her face: Fleur s eyes were closed. Her face was drained of color. I k new this look and I
was fascinated, rapt, as at other death and sickbeds (157). Here, Pauline forgets what she is doing for
Fleur and reverts to her duty as the Angel of Death, abandoning her Ojibwa ways for Catholicism.
This seems to create further confusion for Pauline, as Fleur must instruct her on what to do with the
alder plant. When Pauline puts herself to that task, she finds that she is unable to do anything because
the Lord overtook [her] limbs and made them clumsy...it must have been his terrible will (157).
Pauline feels that God does not want her to help Fleur, and is preventing her from doing so by
deadening her limbs. Although she is trying to help Fleur, she simply cannot. Pauline s claims that
clumsiness and forgetfulness of Ojibwa traditions is God s terrible will, are a claim of validity for both
her follies in this passage and her stubborn separations from the Ojibwa.

My Sister, My Heroine
My Sister, My Heroine Buck up Buttercup, (Wood). Something I have been told my whole life, and
have recently learned to appreciate. My sister, Tanya Jai Peterson Wood, has said to me to Buck up
Buttercup many times under a vast variety of circumstances, to the point where I say it to others, and
think it even when TJ is not around. TJ has made the biggest difference in my life, and is my heroine. I
chose TJ to be my heroine because she is the most real to me; she has most changed my life and
possesses qualities I can only hope to have. TJ has changed my life for the better and has really
strengthened me. TJ is my heroine because she is humble, compassionate, patient, and selfless. When I
was three years old, TJ and a few of her friends went rollerblading and decided to push me along with
them in a stroller. TJ let one of her friend s push me and we came close to a canal, TJ s friend lost
control and ended up pushing me into the canal. TJ immediately started to take off her rollerblades and
her friends, screaming, attracted the attention of a car. The car pulled over, a man got out and stopped
TJ, and the man pulled me out. Now, TJ could have decided not to tell my parents what happened, but
she was humble enough to tell them. She had to accept the consequences of what happened, and that is
what a good hero or heroine is to me. They are humble, and willing to take responsibility for their
mistakes, when made. A good hero or heroine is not afraid of making mistakes because they know that
if a mistake is made, then they will do everything in their power to fix it. TJ is ten years older than I
am, but she was always compassionate and kind enough to let me be a part of her life. She always let
me be on her team when her friends would come over to play games, she would rarely cast me away
or tell me to leave her alone. When I was in fifth grade I ran for student council. I spent much time
writing my speech, with frequent help from TJ. I was so proud of my speech, and was miserable when
I didn t win. TJ was my sole comfort, and compassionately said to me, Buck up Buttercup, (Wood).

compassionately. TJ would not be

Boundaries In Frankenstein Essay
Introduction Boundaries are important as they indicate a limit a person not supposed to cross, it
important that people respect boundaries as once boundaries are crossed, it can affect the relationship

Cats are among the earliest companions of men and have been kept as pets in several homesteads for
decades. The health of the cat is very important, and thus, the owner needs to make sure that the pet is
always in good vigor. Attainment of good heath transpires with the use of foods that have the right
ingredients needed by the cats. Mainly, a majority of the food that cats consume is a composition of
foodstuffs that their owners offer. However, some of the foodstuffs that individuals consume are not
recommended for the pet as they affect their health. Vegans and vegetarians are individuals, who do
not consume a number of animal products such as meat, milk, and in some instances, eggs.

Gender Inequality in Hollywood Essay
Stereotypes in our society are not uncommon. We come across them every day without realizing it. It
is in our human nature to create expectations of the people around us, which could be based upon their
ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or other factors. Stereotypes help us categorize a vast group of
people that we may not know anything about, to think that they are smaller and less intimidating. I
believe that the blame for these cookie cutter patterns can lead directly back to the media in every
sense of the word. Media is all around us, and affects our opinions and ability to think for ourselves.
Whether it s the latest box office hit or the headlining news, we are getting assumptions from every
point of view, which makes it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the bias stereotypes are also expanded to men in the media as well.
A common action movie consists of a physically and mentally equipped male lead who often saves
himself and his attractive female supporting lead. The status quo for a man in Hollywood is quite
simple; strong and handsome. BBC: Culture wrote an article about the blandness in actors these days.
They said that men in the media are always set to play one specific role, and it is hard to break out of
that category that Hollywood has cast them as. For example, Daniel Radcliffe will always be Harry
Potter in the eyes of it s fans. Ryan Gosling will always play a bad boy heartthrob, and is ostracized
when he doesn t. The article says that these categories are pushing young actors into divisions based
on their looks, not necessarily their talents. This is also known as type casting, or when an actor
becomes known as only being able to play one role.

Tikki Tgii Movie And Movie Analysis
Rikki Tikki Tavi (Compare and Contrast)
Danger gleams like sunshine to a brave man s eyes. Rikki Tikki Tavi is a story about a fight between
the most feared snake in the garden a King Cobra, and a mongoose who will not stand for his cruelty
in a bungalow in India to protect the freedom of all the animals. An animated movie about the story
was filmed and a novella was written to tell the story. There were many differences and similarities
between the two stories, such as the food Rikki Tikki Tavi ate in the movie versus the novella, him
having a war cry and a motto in the book, however, not a war cry, but a motto in the movie, and what

a bottlebrush, and his war cry as he scuttled through the long grass was Rikk tikk tikki tikki tchk!
(Kipling 143). The novella also states, It is the hardest thing in the world to frighten a mongoose,
because he is eaten up from nose to tail with curiosity. The motto of all the mongoose family is Run
and find out, and Rikki tikki was a true mongoose. (Kipling 144). However, in the movie beginning
and throughout the book, Rikki Tikki had no war cry, however he did have a motto. This proves that
another difference between the Rikki Tikki Tavi movie and book is that in the book, Rikki had a war
cry, but in the movie, Rikki had no war cry.
The final difference between the movie and the book of Rikki Tikki Tavi is that while Rikki Tikki is
exploring the bungalow of Segowlee, he does more in the book than in the movie. The book reads,
Then Rikki tikki went out into the garden to see what was to be seen. It was a large garden, only half
cultivated, with bushes, as big as summerhouses, of Marshal Niel roses; lime and orange trees; clumps
of bamboos; and thickets of high grass. (Kipling 145). The story also states, He spent all that day
roaming over the house. He nearly drowned himself in the bathtubs, put his nose into the ink on a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Natural Observation
Natural observation is the study of human or animal behavour in real world or natural settings
(Yasukawa, 2014). In natural observations, the researcher records what he/she observes in whatever
way he or she can. Therefore one can assert that such method of observation exerts strengths and
limitations when conducting research. As such, in an article by Ross et al (2011) on distinct laugh

About nine years ago I discovered a book called The Age of Spiritual Machines by a man named Ray

had the privilege of watching Spike Jonze s 2013 movie her. While focusing on the personal aspect of

Spike Jonze s recent movie her takes place in a future LA, but not one that you would expect, having
most popular visions of the future being dark and dystopian. The streets are clean and the people are
happy. Everything is basked in a pastel like glow, feeling nostalgically retro. Technology is used to
their advantage for convenience, but has not overtaken their lives and created a society of anti social
recluses. Jonze s vision of the future is decidedly positive and a refreshing take on what humanity can
do if they make the right choices. Enter Theodore, the protagonist who has separated from his wife in
the past year. He is a depressed, hopeful romantic clinging onto the thought that his wife will change
her mind and come back to him, evident in his reluctance to sign his divorce papers. While walking
down the street one day he notices an advertisement for a new operating system named OS1, touted as
being the first artificially intelligent operating system. Throughout the rest of the movie, he grows

develop wants and needs. In addition to helping him in his work and with de cluttering his personal
life, she begins to evolve into her own person with her own idiosyncrasies. Kurzweil talks heavily on

The Lottery And The State Of Alabama
The concept of the lottery is the same throughout every state, people have money and are interested in
playing the odds ; the revenue from these people is then divided and used to benefit organizations of
the state s choice. Exactly where the money goes to is what differs from state to state. Some states put
all the revenue from the lottery into one trust fund that is allocated for a more broad and generalized
group. Other states target specific programs such as, preserving natural parks or assisting the
educational system with additional funds. The State of Alabama does not have a lottery and its locals
are the ones missing out. Due to the lack of the lottery in Alabama, those who choose to play the
lottery must travel out of the state, which means their money goes to other state s lotteries benefiting
that states programs and ultimately its residents. By keeping the peoples money in the state a lottery
will open an endless amount of opportunities to better state supported programs and the state as a
whole.
Other states lottery programs can be used as a blueprint to establish a lottery in the State of Alabama.
As an example, the State of Oregon takes the lottery s revenue and distributes it into four groups.
These fours groups are Public Education , which receives 57%, 27% is given to the Economic
Development [and] Job Creation , Problem gambling treatment receives the least, at a total of 1%, the

We even called her Neighbor Della. The days in the summer when my brother and
I were bored, we would head straight over to Della s to play a game, talk with her, pretty much

whoever got there first, got the first cookie and yes, I always lost. We would walk up the stone steps
and inside the creaky door which was always unlocked and open because she feared no one. She used
to tell us that her late husband Marion would keep a shotgun next to door hidden in a cubby in the
wall. However, she never approved of this. He had died before we were born but she talked about him
like he was always in the next room. I think she talked about him so much that she forgot he passed on
because she would call to him sometimes while we were there and then shake her head, remembering
he was gone. Her house always had a familiar peach smell. Most likely because she had two peach
trees on either side of her house. Sometimes Jake and I would go out with a bucket and pick the good
peaches for her while she watched from the window. Once inside, we would head straight for the
kitchen table which was right past the entryway. The table always had a clean white linen table cloth
on it with a plate of strawberry wafer cookies sitting right on top. There would be two cups of cold
milk waiting on the table as well as one tall glass of ice water for her.

Comparing The Stage And War Is Never Over
The poems The Stage, written by Avenged Sevenfold, and War Is Never Over, written by Cecil L.
Harrison, both suggest that life is a war disguised by a curtain of innocence. Both describe their
respective topics life and war in a negative light suggesting that neither is what it seems to be.
The way life is described as a performance in The Stage challenged me to consider what life might
look like to an audience. The poem is structured with the different stages of life in each stanza. This
shows the development of humankind, both individually and as a species. At the beginning of the
poem, the poet starts us off with So I arrived, naked and cold, suggesting both a newborn baby, and
the beginning of humanity. The poet says that the innocence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The poet uses the text to expose war as an eternal hell stating that War is never over in the many
soldiers and loved ones eyes. War Is Never Over reveals that freedom is fought for and that No
freedom is not free! The poem focuses on the after effects of war, for example, the memories of the
battles and the nightmares that ensue. For me, the poet uncovers that although tough times such as war
are resolved in the end, there are still many holes left by the aftereffects of that particular event. It is
not only the soldiers that suffer after the war, but also families and loved ones. Those left home to wait
know this. For many are still waiting. It was their farewell kiss. This led me to believe that the many
soldiers that left for war have most likely died or are missing in action leaving their families awaiting
their impossible return. At one stage, the poet goes as far as calling the soldiers heroes; however,
reveals to us that although they have come back home, in their minds they hold memories known to
them alone. This means that the soldiers have not fully recovered from the war and have to suffer from
the terrifying memories of their experiences during the war. I believe that Cecil L. Harrison wrote this
poem to warn the many people who overlook these after effects of war when joining due to the glory
that they assume they are going to receive when they come home. The reality is, many soldiers that go
off to war never come back. War Is Never Over reminds us of the sacrifices that many soldiers have
made to make sure that future generations would never have to share the memories that are still fresh
in their minds. The poem reminds us that War is never over. Though we win the victory, still in our
minds the battles. No freedom is not free! Ultimately, this led me to believe that the poem is meant as

Giger And Davidhizar Transcultural Assessment Analysis
Healthcare systems and healthcare providers need to respond to patients diverse perspec tives, values,

health consequences for minority groups in particular. As healthcare provid ers, we can easily
recognize the physical problems a person has, but sometimes we overlook the whole or holistic
individual, which includes cultural element. The hospital environment is multi cultural setting.
Therefore, healthcare providers need to be culturally competent so we can deliver a better care for our
patients and their family. Healthcare providers, who understand their clients cultural values, beliefs,

for health promotion and wellness, health maintenance and restoration, illness, disease, and injury

Advantages Of Traditional Costing System
Conventional Absorption Costing Systems or Traditional Costing System
It is a remarkable reality that the traditional costing systems use a solitary, volume based cost driver.
This is the motivation behind why the traditional product costing system misshapes the expense of
items or products. By and large, this kind of costing system appoints the overhead expenses to items
on the premise of their relative use of direct work. Thus, traditional cost systems frequently report
incorrect product costs. The issue is in the basic technique of the traditional costing systems. They
stick to the supposition that items reason cost. Every time a unit of product is produced, it is expected
that cost be brought about.

for the welfare and progress of an economy. The approach measures the country s value and well
being in three dimensions namely, education/knowledge, life expectancy (healthy and long life), and a
decent living standard (determined by the GDP per capita). Apparently, the first two elements of
Human Development Index (education and health) focuses on precise societal goals, but the gross
domestic product variables remain a significance proxy for national well being. The method has been
in use by most of the agencies like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since 1990
for their human development report (Anderson, 2014). Again, HDI is used by the European Nations to
compare different nations and regions.
Better Life Index
The index enhances the comparison of the national welfare across nations, deriving its basis from
elven vital aspects which determines and shape the human s lives and well being. The primary
elements include education, housing, jobs, income, health, environment, civic engagement among
others. Nevertheless, each facet gets its evaluation based on four statistical determinants that are
assigned equal weights; for instance, education/knowledge score is based equally on attained levels of
education and standard reading skills. The ratings for each facet can be combined into a monetised
overall value, but the default thing is to

Those women needed only to become better adjusted to who and what they were. Friedan, however,
was no ordinary housewife. Before starting her family, she had worked as a newspaper reporter; even
after her children came, she wrote regularly for the major women s magazines. By 1957 she was fed
up with the endless stories about breast feeding, the preparation of gourmet chip dips, and similar
domestic fare that was the staple of Redbook , McCall s , and Ladies Home Journal . She had noticed
many women like herself who worked outside the home and felt guilty because their jobs threatened
their husbands roles as providers or took time away from their children. Thus Friedan began to wonder
not only about herself as a woman, a wife, and a mother, but also about the role society had shaped
women to play. The results of the Smith questionnaire engaged Friedan s reportorial instincts. She
sensed she was onto a story bigger than anything she had ever written. But when she circulated an
article describing the plight so many women were experiencing, the male editors at the women s
magazines turned it down flat. It couldn t be true, they insisted; women could not possibly feel as
guilty or discontented as Friedan claimed. The problem must be hers. Betty has gone off her rocker, an
editor at Redbook told her agent. She has always done a good job for us, but this time only the most
neurotic housewife could

Benefits Of A Successful Business
In order to have a successful business, businesses need to find a way to keep employees motivated to
do their jobs and increase work satisfaction. This is undeniably crucial for a business to continue to be
profitable. Some solutions to this problem are incentives, having a good work environment, and
showing appreciation.
When employees perform poorly by not doing their job or not doing their job well, it reflects
negatively on the business. Customers who are not satisfied, may complain and may not return.
Customers can also discourage others from going to that particular establishment by telling their
friends about their terrible experience. The business then loses money from that customer and that
customers friends who now do business with the competition. That business may now have a bad
reputation that started from that one customer s negative experience (Deeb).
By keeping employees pleased and excited at their jobs, they tend to perform better than those
employees who are not please at their job. In an article written by John Waggoner, he wrote, If a
company treats its employees well, the business should prosper.... So in other words, the business
makes money if the employees are pleased. Employees who are given incentive tend to perform better
at their jobs than people who do not receive incentive. Google is an example of a company that is
highly successful and is known for having generous benefits for their employees to par take. The stock
at Google has climbed

descendent of the Kim dynasty, who are known to be one of the world s most secretive and
consequential families. Kim is a tyrant, and much like Macbeth, he has a thirst and greed for power,
and will abuse all that he acquires. This manipulative and greedy man validates how Shakespeare s
plays are still relevant today as they explore how power can be addictive and corruptive.

Driven by power, Kim Jong Un is determined to assert an extremely tight grip on his current level of
power. His greed for more is causing him to grow reckless, and with his unwavering intentions, he is
not going to let anything get in his way. Like Kim, Macbeth is a strong minded, and is compulsively
fixated on becoming the best the only way he can become that is if he is crowned King, in doing so he
must kill Duncan.
I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell that summons thee to
heaven, or hell. (Act 2, Scene 1)
Both of them are malicious men, ambitiously obsessed with their greed for power.
What kind of a man is Kim Jon Un? Only a malevolent man would kill his own uncle and innocent
people for watching soap operas.
Mr Kim has relied on purges to consolidate his grip on power since he took over North Korea. (E.

Sleepy Lagoon Trial
The Sleepy Lagoon Murder Trial was one of the most shocking displays of injustice carried on by the
court of California. The trial focused on the murder of twenty two year old Jose Diaz who had been
beaten and stabbed near a reservoir known as Sleepy Lagoon. Sleepy Lagoon had always been a place
that comminity and gang members frequently visited located in East Los Angeles. On the evening of
August 1, 1942 two rivaling gangs had a violent confrontation between one another. This led to future
events which would result in the murder of Jose Diaz. The Los Angeles Police department held 600
youths in custody as well as charged 2 people for the murder of Diaz. The court held 22 people

Around 600 Mexican Americans who fit the term zoot suiters ( a person who wears ballooned pants
and long coats) were rounded up in efforts to catch the criminal. The court argued that their look alone
was enough to prove they were deliquents in one way or another and should be held responsible for
their actions. Altough appearances do distinguish gang members from regular civilians the mass
gathering of around 600 Mexicans for one individuals murder shows the lack of professional
expirence. It also serves as a pedestal to say that these police offers weren t looking for an individual
based on factual evidence but based their prejudice beliefs tried to round up and get place a large
group of Mexicans in the court of law under biased pretences. It is an injustice to hold so many people
accountable for a crime based on their looks let alone get so many people of one ethnic group
involved just because they look like they are from a gang. On January 12, 1943 in the case of People
v. Zamora, presided by Judge Charles Fricke, the court found this to be enough evidence to sentence
seventeen of the accused to life in prison to a year in the county jail. Five were found innocent. Henry

  • 2. Gender Roles In Theatre Introduction We decided on this research topic as a group after having been assigned the category of gender and sexuality. I had mentioned to my group that I had seen a significantly lower number of men in the theatre program at my high school, and this trend only seemed to continue as I reached post secondary. My colleagues agreed and stated their own experiences of either playing a character of a different gender in plays they had been in, or watching a play and seeing a clear difference between the number of men and women on stage. This brought us to consider why this might be the case. Why are there so few men in theatre? I then brought up how, being a film student, there never seems to be a shortage of male actors for our films. My colleagues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were also sure to include a variety of fine arts professions in order to mask our intention behind the survey so that it would be more difficult for someone to throw the results. These were then randomized differently for every survey participant. These results were used to directly answer our research question/ test our hypothesis. Anonymity was ensured by the fact that there was no question asking participants to enter their name, age or post secondary institution, and consent was achieved by the first question of our survey being a short consent form. The narrator has suffered the loss of his love by chance, and he is desperate to know a reason why. That way, he could hold onto his resentment and die, holding onto the knowledge that his love at least died for a reason. The narrator wants to know that there was deliberate thought put into his love s removal from earth, that someone had recognized and acknowledged the suffering he is experiencing. As it is, he is dumbfoundedly numb knowing his lover died by chance, for no reason, as easily as one loses at dice. The narrator in this poem had known bliss in the form of his love. In most cases of alcohol abuse, the goal is to limit drinking, while for alcoholism, it is to stop drinking altogether. Why some people become alcoholics remains a mystery, although most scientists now agree that a combination of genetic and environmental factors increases a person s vulnerability. Based on the results of Swedish adoption studies, some researchers divide alcoholism into two types. Type I, the most common, occurs in both men and women and is associated with adult onset alcohol dependence. The status quo for a man in Hollywood is quite simple; strong and handsome. BBC: Culture wrote an article about the blandness in actors these days. They said that men in the media are always set to play one specific role, and it is hard to break out of that category that Hollywood has cast them as. For example, Daniel Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter in the eyes of it s fans. Ryan Gosling will always play a bad boy heartthrob, and is ostracized when he doesn t. The article says that these categories are pushing young actors into divisions based on their looks, not necessarily their talents. Exactly where the money goes to is what differs from state to state. Some states put all the revenue from the lottery into one trust fund that is allocated for a more broad and generalized group. Other states target specific programs such as, preserving natural parks or assisting the educational system with additional funds. The State of Alabama does not have a lottery and its locals are the ones missing out. Due to the lack of the lottery in Alabama, those who choose to play the lottery must travel out of the state, which means their money goes to other state s lotteries benefiting that states programs and ultimately its residents. The way life is described as a performance in The Stage challenged me to consider what life might look like to an audience. The poem is structured with the different stages of life in each stanza. War Is Never Over reveals that freedom is fought for and that No freedom is not free! The poem focuses on the after effects of war, for example, the memories of the battles and the nightmares that ensue. For me, the poet uncovers that although tough times such as war are resolved in the end, there are still many holes left by the aftereffects of that particular event. It is not only the soldiers that suffer after the war, but also families and loved ones. Those left home to wait know this. For many are still waiting. It was their farewell kiss. This led me to believe that the many soldiers that left for war have most likely died or are missing in action leaving their families awaiting their impossible return. At one stage, the poet goes as far as calling the soldiers heroes; however, reveals to us that although they have come back home, in their minds they hold memories known to them alone. This means that the soldiers have not fully recovered from the war and have to suffer from the terrifying memories of their experiences during the war. I believe that Cecil L. Harrison wrote this poem to warn the many people who overlook these after effects of war when joining due to the glory that they assume they are going to receive when they come home. The reality is, many soldiers that go off to war never come back. War Is Never Over reminds us of the sacrifices that many soldiers have made to make sure that future generations would never have to share the memories that are still fresh in their minds. The business then loses money from that customer and that customers friends who now do business with the competition. That business may now have a bad reputation that started from that one customer s negative experience (Deeb).
