TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
MEANING
Natural resources are resources that exist without actions
of humankind. This includes all valued characteristics such
as magnetic, gravitational, electrical properties and forces,
etc. On Earth it
includes sunlight, atmosphere, water, land (includes all
minerals) along with all vegetation, crops and animal life
that naturally subsists upon or within the previously
identified characteristics and substances.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Renewable Resources.
Resources which can be renewed or can be reused
Renewable resources.
These include components like are, water, wind ,
Sunlight
They are sustainable resources
Renewable resources are pollution free
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Non renewable resources
• Resources which cannot be
renewed or reused once utilized are
called non renewable resources
• These include components like
fossil,fuels, LPG gases
• They are main cause of pollution
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Alternative sources of energy
• Wind Energy
• Solar energy
• Hydroelectric energy
• Biomass energy
• Tidal power
• Geothermal energy
• Natural gas
• Wave energy
Solar energy resources
Solar energy is the most abundant energy resource
on Earth. It can be captured and used in several
ways, and as a renewable energy source, is an
important part of our clean energy future.
Solar energy comes from the sun and can be
captured with various technologies, primarily solar
panels. The “photovoltaic effect” is the mechanism by
which silicon solar panels harness the sun’s energy
and generate electricity
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Forest resources
Forests provide an array of benefits to human
societies above and beyond their pivotal roles as
habitat and environmental regulators in natural
ecosystems. These benefits are often described as
resources that people can draw upon for fuel,
lumber, and recreational or commercial purposes.
The perception that forests provide resources for
people has been a prominent factor in spurring
efforts to preserve forests
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Deforestation
It refers to the loss of forest cover this forest area
permanently converted into a forest into the land area.
Conservation of forest resource
forest management and conservation. They will manage the
forest resources special team members visit the forest They
see benefit protective JFM (joint forest management) started
in West Bengal 1971 particular group help the rural
community
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Water resources
Water resource, any of the entire range of natural
waters that occur on the Earth, regardless of their
state (i.e., vapour, liquid, or solid) and that are of
potential use to humans. Of these, the resources
most available for use are the waters of the oceans,
rivers, and lakes; other available water resource
include groundwater and deep subsurface waters
and glaciers and permanent snowfields.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Water conservation method
• Protection of Water from Pollution
• Redistribution of Water
• Rational Use of Groundwater
• Population Control
• Renovation of Traditional Water Sources
• Use of Modern Irrigation Methods
• Increasing Forest Cover
• Change in Crop Pattern
• Flood management
• Conserving water in industries.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Land resources
Land resources mean the resources available from
the land, thus the agricultural land which contain
natural fertilizer for growth of the products sown;
the underground water, the various minerals like
coal, bauxite, gold and other raw materials.
Land resource refers to the land available for
exploitation, like non agricultural lands for
buildings, developing townships etc
Land resources (natural resources) (economically
referred to as land or raw materials) occur
naturally within environments that exist relatively
undisturbed by mankind, in a natural form.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Land degradation
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Major causes for land degradation
• Overpopulation
• Urbanisation
• Fertilizers
• Over cultivation
• Disposal of waste
• Deforestation
• Over exploitation
• Over usage
• Over utilisation
• Nuclear waste
• Radio active waste
• E- waste

  • 9. Forest resources Forests provide an array of benefits to human societies above and beyond their pivotal roles as habitat and environmental regulators in natural ecosystems. These benefits are often described as resources that people can draw upon for fuel, lumber, and recreational or commercial purposes. The perception that forests provide resources for people has been a prominent factor in spurring efforts to preserve forests TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.

  • 11. Water resources Water resource, any of the entire range of natural waters that occur on the Earth, regardless of their state (i.e., vapour, liquid, or solid) and that are of potential use to humans. Of these, the resources most available for use are the waters of the oceans, rivers, and lakes; other available water resource include groundwater and deep subsurface waters and glaciers and permanent snowfields. Water conservation method • Protection of Water from Pollution • Redistribution of Water • Rational Use of Groundwater • Population Control • Renovation of Traditional Water Sources • Use of Modern Irrigation Methods • Increasing Forest Cover • Change in Crop Pattern • Flood management • Conserving water in industries. • 13. Land resources Land resources mean the resources available from the land, thus the agricultural land which contain natural fertilizer for growth of the products sown; the underground water, the various minerals like coal, bauxite, gold and other raw materials. Land resource refers to the land available for exploitation, like non agricultural lands for buildings, developing townships etc Land resources (natural resources) (economically referred to as land or raw materials) occur naturally within environments that exist relatively undisturbed by mankind, in a natural form.
