YouTube is also a big cash cow for Google because the amount of advertisement space bought on
YouTube is ridiculous. Some people make a living just by uploading videos on their YouTube channel,
just imagine how much the actual company is making off these deals. In 2012, Google had a total of
$792 million in amortization expense of intangible assets. Goodwill Google tests their goodwill for
impairment at least annually or more frequently if events or changes in circumstances indicate that this
asset may be impaired. Google found no goodwill impairment in any of the years presented. At the
end of 2012, Google reported an estimated $12.8 billion in goodwill. Depreciation Methods Google
accounts for property and equipment at cost less accumulated depreciation and amortization. They
compute depreciation using the straight line method over the estimated useful lives of the assets;
usually two to five years and they depreciate buildings over periods up to 25 years. They amortize
leasehold improvements over the shorter of the remaining lease term or the estimated useful lives of
the assets. Construction in progress is related to the construction or development of property,
including land and equipment that have not yet been placed in service for their intended use.

Write An Essay About Ron s Career
In Wisconsin our two senators are Tammy Baldwin serving for a little over three years and still
serving, and Ron Johnson serving for 5 years and still serving. We chose to write about Ron, because
he seemed the most interesting and reliable to our state. This paper will discuss the topics of
Ron s life, his career, how he got elected, what he did to get elected and a past campaign. On April
8th, 1995 in Mankato, Minnesota Jeanette Elizabeth and Dale Robert Johnson were blessed with a
baby boy. They named him Ron. His family and he lived on a farm where he was born and raised.
When Ron was old enough he delivered newspapers, worked at a golf course as a caddy, and baled
hay. When he was older he became a dishwasher at Walgreen s Grill. A couple years later when he was
a senior he received early admission to the University of Minnesota, so he left his high school and
started college. While he was attending night ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The duties that he does in Washington are things that have to do with most likely the whole state or a
couple of countries. An example of this would be approving treaties with foreign countries. Some
other duties that would be with our country would be passing judgement on officials that were
impeached by the House of Representatives, confirming appointments by the President to the U.S.
Supreme Court, confirming appointments with other federal judgeships, and also a huge group of
political positions in federal agencies. He does all of that in his office in Washington D.C. Now he has
two other offices here in Wisconsin. One is in Oshkosh, where he and his wife live, and another is in
Milwaukee. In those offices he mostly considers new laws but there are other things as well. Some of
these other duties are talking to residents of the state and listening to their

Health And Drug Administration Of The Health Care Setting
Work Place Distractions Lead to Deadly Outcomes Effective Ways to Reduce Medication Errors in the
Health Care Setting Lincoln University Suzanne Norman Ybarra One of the greatest fears of any nurse
is harming or killing a patient by making a critical medication error. The U.S. Food and Drug
Administration reports that a person dies accidently every day from a medication error and
approximately 1.3 million sustain an injury from medication errors (U.S. Food and Drug

In an effort to reduce the occurrence of medication errors, JHACO has thoroughly investigated and
implemented new safety standards of care. JHACO implemented a new standard referred to as the 10
Rights of Drug Administration. 1. The Right Drug, 2. Right Patient, 3. Right Dose, 4. Right Route, 5.
Right Time and Frequency, 6. Right Documentation, 7. Right History and Assessment, 8. Drug
approach and Right to Refuse, 9. Right Drug to Drug Interaction and Evaluation, and 10. Right
Education and Information. Failure to follow the 10 Rights of Medication Administration can result in
a patient s injury or death (Potter, Perry, Hall, Stockert, 2013). Further research in safety has proven
that reviewing the physicians order three times significantly reduced transcribing errors or entering the
order incorrectly into the electronic medical record. Training new nurses and experienced nurses to
review every order three times has shown beneficial in patient safety and has reduced medication
errors. Nurses and medical staff involved in medication administration are encouraged to have a
buddy system, where there are two nurses or trained staff members who double check all medication
calculations and assist with verifying high risk medication dosages. When there is a discrepancy
concerning any medication administration, a Stop, Think and Call policy is implemented and the
medication is held until proper documentation and verification have been obtained.

British Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution in Great Britain began in eighteenth century due to the economic
differences in many areas, the rise of factories, and the advances in technologies. The Industrial
Revolution created a foundation for the modern world s economy and helped advance the world s
markets and industries. It also affected the social system and improved the people s living standard.
Learning about the Industrial Revolution will help us understand more about the history of our
prosperous economy.
There were many factors that started the British Industrial Revolution such as economic differences in
rural areas and cities, the rise of many factories which fulfilled the needs for workers and increased
jobs, along with the advancement in technologies which created new production methods. In rural
areas, labours were cheap and many workers became unemployed and this increased poverty. In cities,
the economy was different. Many factories were formed which created more jobs causing the people
in rural areas to leave their towns to work in cities. Since the majority of people lived in cities and
worked in factories, it created the industrial system (1). During the Industrial Revolution, men,
women, and even children needed to work in order to survive. They worked in dangerous
environments and were paid with low wages. Children and women were favored to work in coal
mining industry because they were slim. They suffered severe contamination And children were

THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666
THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON OF 1666 The Great Fire of London of 1666 that was started by
Thomas Farrinor s bakery caused the destruction of 80 percent of London and led to the creation of
insurance and firefighting companies. The fire marked a time of rebirth for the British capital since the
city had to rebuild entirely. The fire was quite an interesting event owing the fact that it caused such an
extreme amount of destruction and took the lives of only six people. Londoners remember the
seventeenth century as a time of desolation, but the events that occurred have impacted the world
today. With the creation of insurance and firefighting, not only are people protected, but their property
also. As a rule, builders in seventeenth century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Farrinor immediately ran upstairs and when he reached the top, he saw flames, but the flames were not
near his ovens, or even close to a pile of wood near the ovens (Shields 80 81). The family then
searched for an escape route out of the house (Alagna 4). Unable to exit downstairs due to a blocked
path, the Farrinor family fled to the roof. The family begged their maid to follow them but she was
more afraid of heights than the fire. She stayed in the house and was the first person to die in the Great
Fire. The family, however, continued across rooftops until they were safe from the fire (Shields 81).
Subsequently, the flames were halfway across London Bridge soon after the fire was started. Two
groups of buildings, separated by a clearance, sat on London Bridge (Alagna 19). Pieces of the
burning buildings fell into the river causing the water to turn into smoke and steam (Hanson 53). The
sights and sounds of the London Bridge burning and falling in the water, created a dark perception for
onlookers. The previously mentioned clearance in the London Bridge was a successful firebreak in an
earlier fire, and it was successful again in the Great Fire. London was lucky that only one third of
London Bridge burned (Alagna 19). Furthermore, the fire continued to spread rapidly. Huge pieces of
wood fell, burning and blazing, forming bridges for the fire to spread to other buildings. Every house
became fuel to the fire, so it could grow

Operational security is an extremely important part of our everyday lives while in a deployed
enviroment. This fact is amplified that much more when the deployment includes being stationed in a
country where the enemy could go undetected, as our foes do not wear a uniform. In a war where there
is no front, and as part of our out reach with the citizens of the country that we are occupying, it would
be incredibily easy for our enimes to merge themselves into our everyday dealings. With that

The easiest solution to preventing an unprepared operational security hit, aside from maintaining
proper operational security is by reporting the incident as soon as it becomes known and by not
obstructing any inquires made into the infraction. If the knowledge of an unintentinal security breach
is made aware to the proper channels, the necesary steps in prevention can occur. Being prepared
helps to reduce significant amounts of damages that can be done if left otherwise unprepared, and
unknowledgable of any of the specifics of the nature of the breach of security. With that being said, it
is without a doubt not the best course of action to keep such things in house , or attempt to cover up

For the primary audience which may include the person struggling with obesity, the fitness trainer that
works to help the client stay healthy and in shape, and the dietitian who regulates and monitors the

their educational level. It should go into depth, so that the dietitian can accurately access the problem s
that the patient might be facing. It should also be something that the person who may have obesity can

Freudian Slip Theory Essay
Introduction
Freudian slip theory was originally created by Sigmund Freud. He was an Austrian neurologist and
was better known as the founder of psychoanalysis (1856 1939). Psychoanalysis can be defined as a
set of psychological theories which includes the Freudian slip theory. He believed that everyone
possess an unconscious mind, feelings, desires and memories in their lifetime. It is to be said that
peoples will bring their unconscious content on their mind to their conscious awareness and people
will be able to experience catharsis and gain insight into their current state of mind. (Cherry, What is
Psychoanalysis?, 2016)

In 1981, Erdelyi found a Freudian slip in an article criticizing Freudian ideas. Erdelyi had previously
written an article titled: Let us not sweep repression under the rug, a title which was itself a play on
words. But when Loftus and Loftus (1980) cited the paper, while arguing against repressed memories,
they rendered the title as, Let us now sweep repression under the rug. To Erdelyi, that was exactly
what they were trying to do, so he saw this error as an amusing Freudian slip.
In contrast, there are evidence that proves Freudian slips is unavoidable and peoples will correct it if
they say it or wrote it wrongly. It is clear that slips and mistake are two different things as if ones who
make a mistake and instantly he/she will correct it, that will be the slips of tongue or pen but if ones
kept on making the same mistakes over and over again and he/she does not know how to correct it,
obviously that is a mistake made by the person. However, since Sigmund Freud s theory been
introduced there were many philosopher and researcher who disagree with his idea. Why?

Chapter 4 Explaining Globalization
Scholte briefly examines six differing theoretical approaches to explaining globalization what are
they? What is the central theme of each?
Liberalisms Liberalist position globalization is, at the most elementary level, a result of natural human
desires for economic welfare and political liberty. As such, increased transplanetary connectivity is
ultimately derived from human drives to maximize material well being (through markets) and to
exercise basic freedoms (as guaranteed by publicly accountable government). For liberalists
globalization is an outcome of people s strivings to escape poverty as well as to achieve civil and
political rights. On a liberalist account it is inherent in market ... Show more content on

In these cases, transplanetary connectivity is said to have arisen because of the way that people have
mentally constructed the social world with symbols, language, interpretation, and so on. From
ideational perspectives, globalization has resulted from particular forms and dynamics of
consciousness. For methodological idealists, patterns of production and governance are second order
structures that derive from deeper cultural and socio psychological forces. Such accounts of
globalization have come especially from the fields of Anthropology, Humanities, Media Studies, and
Sociology, although idealist arguments have also influenced some researchers in Geography, Politics
and even Business Studies. One type of ideational explanation is constructivism, an approach that has
been popular particularly since the 1990s among International Studies scholars in North America and
Western Europe who wish to develop an alternative perspective to liberalism and political realism. As
the theory s name suggests, constructivism concentrates on the ways that social actors construct their
world: both within their own minds and through inter subjective communication with others.
Particularly, constructivists examine how inter subjective communication generates common
understandings of reality, shared norms for social behaviour, and notions of group identity and
solidarity. Conversation and

Prostitution, Drugs And Money Laundering
Prostitution, drugs and money laundering are all tied together in the underground world of the public
crimes arena. In fact, acts are all influenced by the political, economic, and social relations intertwined
with organized crime resulting in violence, public health issues, and money laundering schemes.
Markets can be found online, on the streets, and through legitimate and illegitimate practices. The very
nature of prostitution and drug crimes are considered victimless crimes, resulting in collateral damage
against the innocent, but each criminal act can harm the innocent in various degrees. Drug addiction
has affected all classes, races, and ethnicities for all time around the world. Drugs have not only been
used for medical and religious purposes, but they are also illegally manufactured, smuggled, and
distributed globally on the criminal market due to technological advancements today. One might say
this harm is only affecting the individual user, but this is simply not true. Drugs use leads to addiction
causing mental and physical damage to those who use them. However, the power of addiction often
leads to other heinous crimes and theft to support the habit. Antidrug legislation and policies have
been used to control the drug problem by implanting stiffer penalties for drug offenses even in small
quantities. Nevertheless, the manufacture and distribution of large quantities can carry a sentence of
10 years to life and $4 to $10 million dollar fine. Although

Arguments Against Utilitarianism
Utilitarianism: For and Against
Utilitarianism is a moral theory that is centered around the concept of happiness. Although there are
many varieties of the theory, utilitarianism is generally thought to be the view that the morally right
action is the action that produces the most good. Happiness is considered to be an act that people seek,
and an ultimate goal for human beings. Classical utilitarianism focuses on the concept of happiness
and actions, as well as their consequences that impact others, not just an individual. English
philosophers Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill have two different approaches to utilitarianism. I
will explain the development of utilitarianism from both Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill,

In the most general sense, I believe in the idea that actions are right if they are useful or beneficial for
the majority. The strengths of utilitarianism are ones that make sense to me. The two major strengths
of utilitarianism, as an ethical theory, stand out to me. The first strength being that it provides an
answer for every ethical situation a person could be placed in. In every situation, it is important to
always work to promote the most good in a situation. The second strength being that it has a moral
core that appears to coincide with ethical intuition in most people. Humans work to promote the good
for humanity and also work to alleviate suffering. Utilitarianism shows that ethics is not so much
about following rules as acting in a manner that coincides with the values that one finds important in
ethical action. Although I value the importance of those listed above, I also understand the criticisms
of utilitarianism. I think that utilitarianism, though appealing because it ensures the greatest amount of
happiness for the most people, is not completely

Theme Of Human Nature In The Lottery
The Lottery Human nature is complex. Even if we do have inclinations toward violence, we also have
inclination to empathy, to cooperation, to self control (Pinker). In The Lottery , Shirley Jackson is able
to create a sense of horror with and within the characters. All of the characters show a great deal of
sadness, not only because of the ritual that they take part of, but because they have lost all emotion
partaking in the ritual. Throughout The Lottery , the plot and characters reveal how foolish and
corrupted human nature can be. From start to finish, The Lottery is set up to be profound in a chilling,
eerie mood. In the beginning, the story starts off pleasant, The morning of June 27th was clear and
sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the
grass was richly green (Jackson 281). By starting off like this, Jackson is able to give the reader of a

men are the superior sex. Wife draws for her husband, Mr. Summers said. Don t you have a grown boy

not as much as the men. With all of the feminist criticism, human nature is clearly revealed to be

Cathy s efforts have been rewarded all throughout her career. She was the first Aboriginal person to

because of Cathy s efforts where she won gold in both her 200 metre and 400 metre events in the 2000

Designing A Contractor Management System For A Site Expansion
Design Deficiencies
The following report answers questions on design deficiencies. It will describe three design disasters
and examine the causes of the disaster and the impact they had on future designs. It will then discuss a
design and layout case study and the setting up of a contractor management system for a site
expansion.
Tacoma Bridge Collapse
Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie ) was opened to
traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built
with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds
but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena,
the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the bridge on
November 7, 1940, there was a 70 kilimeter per hour wind storm around the bridge area. The wind
caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore the bridge
apart (Britton, n.d.).
Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which could
not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it (Britton,
n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far
too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self destruction (Britton,

Persuading their Mistresses in The Flea and To His Coy Mistress
Examine the ways in which the poets in The Flea and To His Coy
Mistress try to persuade their mistresses.
Both The Flea by John Donne and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew
Marvell are seduction poems, written by the poets to seduce their mistresses. Both have three stanzas
and a basic couplet rhyming structure. Donne and Marvell are metaphysical poets from the 17th
century. They have taken simple ideas and stretched them far for example, using a flea as a symbol of
union. They have made philosophical poems about simple facts of life for example, the fear of death
seen in To His Coy Mistress . The similarity seen between these poems is quite surprising the ... Show

The flea is the subject of much of what the poet talks about, and the imagery used is interesting. He
uses the flea to convince his mistress of his love for her, and to persuade her to have sex with him. In
To His Coy
Mistress there is no one object used to symbolise the love, but interesting and significant imagery is
used often, and to great effect. Different images are used to persuade the poet s mistress that to sleep
with him would be a good thing.
In stanza 1 of The Flea we see as the poet begins by trying to convince his mistress with the idea that
sex is not an important thing. He claims that the flea has already mixed their blood, after he bit them,
so they re already together in that way, And in this flea our two bloods mingled be. In this stanza, the
poet has taken a firm, instructive manner the first line reads Mark but this flea and mark in this . This
is an instruction, which tells us how the poet is feeling: confidant, sure and certain. He describes what
she is denying him as little , which follows with his persuasive argument to her that sex is a small
unimportant thing. There is an image of pregnancy as Donne describes the flea as pamper d swells
with one blood made of two . Here is talking about what could happen if they did have sex; but
reading it from the angle of a biting flea, giving it a seedy almost repulsive edge. This stanza is

The Rent Regulation Laws Of 2015
When you were running for mayor you said that you will stand for the 99%, being true to your word
you are trying to pass laws to help that 99%. More especially passing the Rent Regulation Laws of
2015 which will save hundreds of renters, but only solve the issue for the next four years. Also
inclusionary zoning, where you give Developers tax breaks for just 20% of their apartments to be
affordable rent. But who is it affordable for? The average household income in New York City where
the rent is changing the most don t make enough for the new affordable rent which is about 2700 a
month. Also these solutions just solve the question of the limited stabilized rent and not the issue of
stopping the removal of the population that was already there nor the gap between the rich and the
poor. You said you are a mayor for the working class and their families and sought to protect our most
vulnerable people from mistreatment. But the gap of wealth is getting larger and gentrification isn t
helping the people of New York City, it destroying us. Taking Greenpoint for example, it becoming a
more desirable place for hipster and people who are starting new family, while catching the eyes of
developer who want to do the same buy the areas around Geenpoint. I myself had seen these changes
first handed by just walking down these old street that I had been walking for the past 18 years. I can

Comparing Scarface 1932 And Scarface 1983
Remakes of films are a common occurrence. Sometimes remakes are incredible and introduce a
generation to great films of the past, however, sometimes they aim too high and miss the mark
completely. Scarface 1932 and Scarface 1983 is a great example of the latter. Scarface 1932 was the
first of its kind in many respects while Scarface 1983 fell short. While at the core of both of these
films they are the same, there are a few small plot discrepancies, but the message of the rise and fall of
a man is identical. Visually these films are nothing alike. Beyond the obvious use of color in the 1983
film, the lighting, spacing, and camera work are all different. Scarface 1932 was revolutionary in its
use of low key lighting while Scarface 1983 followed typical lighting conventions. The use of
symbolism in Scarface 1932 was an added layer of complexity to the film that Scarface 1983 did not
have. One thing both films did face quite extensively was censorship. Each film had to be heavily
altered in some way in order for the public to view them. While neither film was truly in the
production code era each film felt the effects regardless. On its own Scarface 1983 is not a bad film,
but when compared to Scarface 1932 it pales in comparison. When one looks into why remakes occur
so frequently, the answer that is found is nostalgia. Gangster films stem from nostalgia much like
westerns do however in both examples neither one is at all an accurate depiction of the time period.

The Effects Of Illegal Immigrants On The United States
There are millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, as Markon (2016) argues that the
majority are from South and Central America, Europe, and Mexico. They form a population of
between 10 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. One of these illegal
is my father, who came to the U.S.A in 1996 to work and tried to pay the numerous debts that he got
in my country; in addition, my country had a large concern where there weren t jobs and several banks
had gone broke because of the change from Sucre to the dollar. At that time, my father thought the
only solution was to come to get that money. My father, there are other undocumented immigrants that

James (1991) points out that illegal made various effects to be legal, such as creating fake documents
like Social Security or green cards, and faking marriage. All those affairs are called fraud, and they
can be deported directly without any opportunity to get a trial. Anti immigration supports comment
that the problem with undocumented immigrant workers is that flouting the law has become the norm.
(Miller, 2010).
Another reason why people support deportation is because some illegals come as criminals and cross
the border to damage the country. According to James (1991) says some of illegals cross the border to
bring drugs like cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, or do illicit things. The drugs, which a lot of
Americans consume, come from South America to Mexico. Where a drug dealer produces, then and
sends them to the U.S.A. In the 1990 s the maximum portion of the drugs came from Mexico, where
drug traffickers passed the drugs through the river that is between Mexico and the U.S.A (James,
1991). These acts have created the increase of crime and violence and have made it unsafe peacefully
to live for the citizens and for the life of the members of the Border Patrol by illegal border crossers
(James, 1991).
However, not all undocumented immigrants cause a harmful effect and

How Did Napoleonic War Affect The Economy
Ethan C.S Period 4 History May 16, 2017 The Napoleonic Wars ravaged England and France from
1799 1815. In order to ensure no assistance came to the enemy, Britain and France began to seize
American ships. For example the British warship HMS Leopard attacked the American frigate USS
Chesapeake in a naval engagement off the coast of Virginia. The British Navy was searching for
deserters and attacked the ship, resulting in the American captain surrendering. In a desperate attempt
to save American interests from the grip of the British and French turmoil, Jefferson passed the
Embargo of 1807. This proved to be an imprudent choice with punishing effects on the American
economy that only hastened American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Japanese Embargo in WWII was another embargo passed by the US limiting Japanese assets,
particularly petroleum . This was highly effective and trapped the Japanese military in China, leaving
Japan helpless. The reason this embargo worked was due to the Japanese over reliance on oil, whereas
the Materials the Americans withheld from the British and French were materials the British and
French didn t require. While the US economy suffered little, Japan s amount of petroleum dropped
88%, leaving Japan helpless against the American force. In 1807, Britain and France saw no such drop
in economy, but America, who relied on trade, did. They saw a 78% (From $104,000,000 to
$22,000,000) drop in the trading economy, almost as of Jefferson was waging war on his own citizens
to prove his philosophy. Had his Embargo been more watertight and prevented essentials from going

Objective Morality
My purpose in writing this is to argue for the existence of an objective morality based entirely on
rational and scientific reasoning. By objective morality I do not simply mean that morality exists in
the sense that various societies consider various actions to be immoral. What I mean is that certain
actions are inherently right or wrong regardless of what any society thinks about them. In other words,
I mean that there is an objective morality which exists independently of human beliefs and human
civilization. There are many people who have the opinion that it is not possible to believe in such an
objective morality without also believing in concepts such as God or an eternal soul. I believe that
they are wrong. I will attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to this perspective, rocks fell to the ground while steam rose because everything tends to go
to its natural place. If we do a more thorough examination, including all the cultures throughout all of
history, we will find an even larger variety of opinions regarding the law of gravity.
This does not, though, mean that there is no objective law of gravity which exists independently of
human society. The beliefs in gravity which I described are attempts by human societies to
approximate reality. Clearly, some approximations are better than others. Perhaps the current belief in
the curvature of space time is also incorrect and will later be replaced by an even better
approximation. However, most people would have no problem agreeing that the curvature of space
time explanation of gravity is a better approximation to reality than the explanations which came
before it.
All that this shows is that even though different cultures hold very different beliefs about a certain
issue, this does not necessarily imply that there is no objective reality behind these beliefs. The claim
which I will be arguing for is that this is the same for morality as it is for gravity. All the moral beliefs
which came before us and all the moral beliefs today are, in exactly the same way as in the case of
gravity, approximations to

Political issues on Student Loans As a student who has difficulties affording increasingly high tuition

low interest rate of student loans, it is still hard to pay back the debt after graduation. As in recent

inflation. (Walker) According to CNBC, America has more than $1.2 trillion of student loan debt,

huge threat to the economy, in the meanwhile, recently there are some debates happening that has
influenced the interest rate of student loans. During recent years, the American government has been
in charge of lots of programs designed to assist students, such as providing student loans. In the
United States, there are two kinds of student loans. One is federal student loans and the other one is

If you step back into the present you may realize that most farms today are very different than that of
the past or what we would see in a painting. According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
there are more than 20,000 factory farms nationwide. This is a 30 percent increase from 2003. These
farms are industrial scale facilities where animals are treated as a product rather than a living creature.
Thousands of animals are kept in these factories resulting in disease and contamination. In the widely

farming. This is just mass production like an assembly line in a factory. In fact there are so many
animals that workers cannot even process the 1.3 billion tons of waste that is produced annually. To
solve this problem, waste is piled into large open pools and sprayed onto the land resulting in health
problems for not only the workers but the people who live nearby. Rivers, streams and groundwater
may also get polluted from this process.

Morals vs. Instinct in The Lord of the Flies by William...
The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is an allegory that connects the boys behavior in the novel
to the basic behavior of human nature. In the novel, the boys fear a wild beast that has the potential to
kill them off. However, Simon, a quiet boy, finds that the beast is not an animal that everyone should
fear, but is a part of each boy himself. As Simon wanders back to a beautiful meadow that he had
traveled to before, he finds that it has changed. Instead of the peaceful meadow that Simon had

See? (Golding 144). Simon, in shock of what the Lord of the Flies says to him, knew that one of his
times was coming on (Golding 143). His emotional distress triggers his body to lose all consciousness.
The encounter with the Lord of the Flies supports Simon s thoughts that the beast that the boys are
hunting for is not an actual animal. The Lord of the Flies tries to persuade Simon to let go of his
rational thoughts and be taken over by his primal instincts in order to have fun like the other boys.
However, when Simon s silence declares that he refuses to let go of logic and rationality, the Lord of
the Flies realizes that Simon knows what the beast really is the innermost part of the boys. Simon
seems to make this connection that the Lord of the Flies is representational to the inner beast within
the boys almost instantly. His gaze was held by that ancient, inescapable recognition (Golding 139).

However, it can be deduced that the major God that the people of Ur worshiped was the Nanna or the

and the sacred place. The sacred place has a large monument or massive brickwork which is called the
temple of Sin or the god of the moon. This monument was erected by the king of Ur about 4000 years

shops have been drawn. The artifacts and the archeological findings show that in a typical townhouse,
street door opened into a small lobby. The entrance of the house contained a jar of water which is
provided to the arriving people to wash their feet. On another side of the lobby, there is another
courtyard. Surrounding the courtyard were various rooms like store rooms, lavatory and kitchen. The
kitchen includes a table built with brick, grinding stones and oven for cooking. The people in the
ancient city also used pots and pan for cooking. The typical houses in Ur city contained a long room in
the center called reception room. The modern Arab houses also follow the same pattern. In addition to
it, the houses of Ur had a well constructed staircase at the other side of the house courtyard. Generally,

Carlody Hobson Speech Analysis
Imagine living in a world that is seemingly against all that you are and all that you want to be.
Through modern stereotypes and accustomed oppression, the odds are working against minorities. As
a society we have become familiarized with the comfort of color blindness, this is a term used for the
ignorance that surrounds diversity issues today. Mellody Hobson, executive president of Ariel
Investments, is an African American woman that has chosen to confront the lack of understanding
involving diversity issues involving race, gender, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status, and
education and tagging it as Color Bravery. Throughout her discussion, Hobson engages and connects
with her audience through her personal stories, facial expressions, tone of voice, and passion about
diversity. Hobson sees her audience as individuals who are struggling to understand the diversity
issues that surround race, gender, and religion. She assumes that her audience has little awareness of
the institutionalized injustices minorities face everyday. With that being said, she does not use her
discussion to ridicule or judge them for not understanding the real problems involving diversity,
instead she focuses on opening their eyes to begin to understand the obstacles our society needs to
overcome in order to start celebrating diversity. Throughout her speech, Hobson infers that her
audience needs a little help grasping the significance of her anecdotes. For example, she starts her

Synthesis Of Dha Essay
As previously mentioned the brain is enriched with polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularily DHA and
the omega 6 AA. While the brain can synthesize saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, it must
rely on uptake of either the preformed DHA and AA or their dietary precursors, which can be
converted to DHA and ARA within the brain. While the brain does have the capacity to synthsize
DHA its rate of synthesis relative to uptake from the plasma is relatively low suggesting that uptake
from plasma and not synthesis within the brain is the major source. Furthermore, while the liver can
upregulate its ability to synthesize DHA especially under conditions of low dietary omega 3 intake,
the brain does not upregulate DHA synthesis under these conditions. ... Show more content on

We found that the coefficient of uptake or the rate of uptake from the unesterified pool, alone, was
sufficient to explain the rate of uptake of all the labelled plasma pools upon oral administration. Or
more, simply put, it appeared as if the unesterified pool was the major source, if not the only source,
supplying the brain upon oral administration. We then used another kinetic model to calculate the rate
at which DHA exists the brain and found this rate of DHA exiting the brain to be similar to the uptake
rate from the plasma unesterified pool. Because DHA is no longer accumulating in the rodent brain,
this suggested that unesterified DHA was, again, the major pool supplying the brain. Importantly,
several groups had reported that upon acute administration of labelled unesterified DHA or DHA

compared to wildytype controls combined with observation of more radiolabelled DHA entering the

Existentialist, Mitwelt, And The Own-World
In existential psychology there is a focus on our existence and lived experience in regards to various
philosophical principles. There are several psychologists who delved into concept of existentialism
and their ideals can be combined into six ontological principles. Being human equates to existing,
being in the world, and this is through involvement and engagement. There exists no separation of
body or self from the world, it is indeed a unified phenomenon, spanning across three planes of the
realm, Umwelt, the around world, Mitwelt, the with world, and Eigenwelt, the own world. The
umwelt entails our drives, needs and physical facts of our existence in the environment. Mitwelt is our
world with others, and the effects of relationships on us. Finally, eigenwelt is our inner relationship
with ourselves, and how we perceive ourselves in the world. It is through these three realms that we

The traditional meaning of progress is advancing toward any specific goal. A goal can vary from a
promotion at work or purchasing a home to starting a family or learning to speak a foreign language.
Considering the variations in goals, how then is progress measured? Can it be universal? Unrestricted?
Or is it personal and exclusive? The term progress fluctuates in meaning depending on who the term is
being applied to in addition to the sense in which it is being discussed. Medically, technologically, and
socially are some manners that progress affects larger and increasingly immense populations;
nevertheless, there are countless other forms of progress, both individual and world wide. On a
universal scale, diverse groups of people uniting and approaching a common target is progress.
Because progress is never truly achieved, rather, the goal simply changes, evolution and growth are
everlasting. A countless multitude of achievements have been actualized across the globe and an
infinite many more will be realized in the future. Health care, preventative medicine, and wellness
programs have extended to a considerable mass of underprivileged countries; meanwhile, larger and
wealthier nations have engineered numerous advancements in the medical field. Assorted technologies
have assisted in said improvements. Not only have these developments encouraged the medical field
in generating improvements, but have also employed distinct techniques to better connect people

Redneck Subculture
Other than goths I think a subculture that really stands out in our culture is the subculture deemed as
redneck, I am not certain what the exact title of this subculture is or should be because it can be pretty
diverse. I was raised in a small farming and mining town so I have seen firsthand how diverse red
necks can be; a redneck can be anything from a dignified rancher to a back woods, alligator wraslin
[sic], moon shine drinking, hillbilly. Webster defines rednecks as, a white person who lives in a small
town or in the country especially in the southern U.S., who typically has a working class job, and who
is seen by others as being uneducated and having opinions and attitudes that are offensive.
(Webster,2016) I think as a general consensus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typically a redneck would be participating in manual labor jobs such as, working on ranches or farms
where is most of the population works desk jobs, this causes a rift in the two cultures. Rednecks also
deviate from the norm in the language portion of life; rednecks have their own language and slang that
most people do not understand. For example, a redneck would confuse their semantics and use the
word far as the word fire, You better turn down the stove before the chicken catches far, or they will
use the word ranch in the place of wrench, Hey skeeter, go fetch me that there ranch from my truck.
Other than their slang rednecks also dress in a very profound way; redneck boys and redneck girls
have a very unique style. Usually it is a combination of ripped up jeans with stains all over them, no
doubt from strenuous manual labor, and some random camo pattern tee shirt that probably has
barbeque sauce on it, and of course the muddy cowboy boots and dirty hat. Rednecks use boundaries
to distinguish themselves from others in these ways and more, their vehicles, their attire, their
language, and their life styles. Rednecks are very proud of their life

Boarding School Seasons Chapter Summaries
Boarding School Seasons by Brenda J. Child offers a look into the boarding school experiences of
many American Indian students. Child favors unpublished sources such as letters to give an
uncensored inside look into boarding school experiences. However, she also includes other sources
such as school newspapers, oral history collections, photographs, biographies, United States
government publications, and annual reports. Government boarding schools were created to help the
American government gain more control over Indians and to push the Natives to adopt the white ways
of life such as language, skill, and education. While integration was the ultimate objective, Child sets
out to show that even with the challenges of cultural assimilation and a devastating land policy,
American Indian people, even children, placed limits on assimilation and also defined and shaped the
boarding school era. (viii) The boarding schools designed to tear American Indian families apart did
not succeed in isolating children from their tribes, but created bonds and ... Show more content on

The schools were overcrowded, students were malnourished, and the federal government neglected to
provide Native children with even the most basic necessities in the schools where they resided. (32)
This chapter also discussed the assimilation process. Government schools taught students to be
ashamed of their names, their tribal languages, and even family surnames derived from tribal
language. (29) The next chapters speak of the homesickness many students felt because of the
assimilation policies keeping children from returning home on breaks and of the diseases that spread
rapidly throughout the schools such as tuberculosis and trachoma. Through the use of letters between
students and parents, Child paints a portrait of the emotional hardships families faced from being
separated with little

Bonding Chemical Properties
The overall purpose of this lab was to see how bonding effects chemical and physical properties. The
lab consisted of 6 compounds Dodecanoic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Duodecose, Octadecanoic Acid,
Potassium Bromide and Amylose. Using these compounds, tests were conducted on their appearance,
solubility in distilled water, conductivity and melting point. There are 3 groups these compounds can
be organized into. One group is Dodecanoic Acid and Stearic Acid. Another group is Duodecose and
Amylose and the last group is Sodium Chloride and Potassium Bromide. These compounds are put
into these groups because of their similar structures and properties. Dodecanoic Acid and
Octadecanoic Acid are in the same group because they are both made up long chains of carbon and
carboxyl groups, and are non polar covalent bonds. In non polar covalent bonds electrons are shared
equally, and held together by atoms. Both Dodecanoic Acid and Octadecanoic are made up of carbon,
hydrogen and oxygen. The data shows they are insoluble, this is because of their long chains of
carbon, and a carboxyl group (COOH) at the end causes them to have increasing hydrophobic which
decreases their solubility in water. The data also shows they are poor electrical ... Show more content

In polar covalent bonds electrons are shared unequally between 2 atoms. Both Duodecose and
Amylose are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Both of the compounds have a high number of
hydroxyl groups, which help them bond with hydrogen atoms in water thus making them soluble
which is supported by the data. Duodecose and Amylose are both bad conductors because of their
polar covalent bond. Since covalent bonds do not contain ions, they don t carry any charge therefore
making Duodecose and Amylose low conductors. Duodecose and Amylose are in the same group
because they both have hydroxyl groups, and are polar covalent

  • 15. Jan Aart Scholte Chapter 4 Explaining Globalization Scholte briefly examines six differing theoretical approaches to explaining globalization what are they? What is the central theme of each? Liberalisms Liberalist position globalization is, at the most elementary level, a result of natural human desires for economic welfare and political liberty. As such, increased transplanetary connectivity is ultimately derived from human drives to maximize material well being (through markets) and to exercise basic freedoms (as guaranteed by publicly accountable government). For liberalists globalization is an outcome of people s strivings to escape poverty as well as to achieve civil and political rights. On a liberalist account it is inherent in market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these cases, transplanetary connectivity is said to have arisen because of the way that people have mentally constructed the social world with symbols, language, interpretation, and so on. From ideational perspectives, globalization has resulted from particular forms and dynamics of consciousness. For methodological idealists, patterns of production and governance are second order structures that derive from deeper cultural and socio psychological forces. Such accounts of globalization have come especially from the fields of Anthropology, Humanities, Media Studies, and Sociology, although idealist arguments have also influenced some researchers in Geography, Politics and even Business Studies. One type of ideational explanation is constructivism, an approach that has been popular particularly since the 1990s among International Studies scholars in North America and Western Europe who wish to develop an alternative perspective to liberalism and political realism. As the theory s name suggests, constructivism concentrates on the ways that social actors construct their world: both within their own minds and through inter subjective communication with others. Particularly, constructivists examine how inter subjective communication generates common understandings of reality, shared norms for social behaviour, and notions of group identity and solidarity. Tacoma Bridge Collapse Brief Description of the Disaster The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie ) was opened to traffic on July 1, 1940 and was built to link Tacoma to the Gig Harbour. The Tacoma Bridge was built with a light design which made it very sensitive to high winds. It lacked the ability to resist the winds but rather swayed and vibrated with the wind direction (Britton, n.d.). Due the harmonic phenomena, the swaying of the bridge worsened (Britton, n.d.). Four months after the opening of the bridge on November 7, 1940, there was a 70 kilimeter per hour wind storm around the bridge area. The wind caused the bridge to sway and vibrate turbulently from side to side, until it eventually tore the bridge apart (Britton, n.d.). Cause of the Disaster The cause of the incident was as result of the structure of the bridge which could not resist the wind. Rather than resist the wind directional flow, it let the wind pass through it (Britton, n.d.). As a result, the combined force of the winds and the internal stress in the bridge structure was far too great for what the bridge could withstand, leading to its self destruction (Britton, ... In this stanza, the poet has taken a firm, instructive manner the first line reads Mark but this flea and mark in this . This is an instruction, which tells us how the poet is feeling: confidant, sure and certain. He describes what she is denying him as little , which follows with his persuasive argument to her that sex is a small unimportant thing. There is an image of pregnancy as Donne describes the flea as pamper d swells with one blood made of two . Here is talking about what could happen if they did have sex; but reading it from the angle of a biting flea, giving it a seedy almost repulsive edge. This stanza is rounded up, ... More especially passing the Rent Regulation Laws of 2015 which will save hundreds of renters, but only solve the issue for the next four years. Also inclusionary zoning, where you give Developers tax breaks for just 20% of their apartments to be affordable rent. But who is it affordable for? The average household income in New York City where the rent is changing the most don t make enough for the new affordable rent which is about 2700 a month. Also these solutions just solve the question of the limited stabilized rent and not the issue of stopping the removal of the population that was already there nor the gap between the rich and the poor. You said you are a mayor for the working class and their families and sought to protect our most vulnerable people from mistreatment. • 23. Comparing Scarface 1932 And Scarface 1983 Remakes of films are a common occurrence. Sometimes remakes are incredible and introduce a generation to great films of the past, however, sometimes they aim too high and miss the mark completely. Scarface 1932 and Scarface 1983 is a great example of the latter. Scarface 1932 was the first of its kind in many respects while Scarface 1983 fell short. While at the core of both of these films they are the same, there are a few small plot discrepancies, but the message of the rise and fall of a man is identical. Visually these films are nothing alike. Beyond the obvious use of color in the 1983 film, the lighting, spacing, and camera work are all different. Scarface 1932 was revolutionary in its use of low key lighting while Scarface 1983 followed typical lighting conventions. The use of symbolism in Scarface 1932 was an added layer of complexity to the film that Scarface 1983 did not have. One thing both films did face quite extensively was censorship. Each film had to be heavily altered in some way in order for the public to view them. While neither film was truly in the production code era each film felt the effects regardless. On its own Scarface 1983 is not a bad film, but when compared to Scarface 1932 it pales in comparison. When one looks into why remakes occur so frequently, the answer that is found is nostalgia. Gangster films stem from nostalgia much like westerns do however in both examples neither one is at all an accurate depiction of the time period. Many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of these illegal is my father, who came to the U.S.A in 1996 to work and tried to pay the numerous debts that he got in my country; in addition, my country had a large concern where there weren t jobs and several banks had gone broke because of the change from Sucre to the dollar. Anti immigration supports comment that the problem with undocumented immigrant workers is that flouting the law has become the norm. (Miller, 2010). Another reason why people support deportation is because some illegals come as criminals and cross the border to damage the country. According to James (1991) says some of illegals cross the border to bring drugs like cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, or do illicit things. The drugs, which a lot of Americans consume, come from South America to Mexico. Where a drug dealer produces, then and sends them to the U.S.A. In order to ensure no assistance came to the enemy, Britain and France began to seize American ships. For example the British warship HMS Leopard attacked the American frigate USS Chesapeake in a naval engagement off the coast of Virginia. The British Navy was searching for deserters and attacked the ship, resulting in the American captain surrendering. The Japanese Embargo in WWII was another embargo passed by the US limiting Japanese assets, particularly petroleum . This was highly effective and trapped the Japanese military in China, leaving Japan helpless. While the US economy suffered little, Japan s amount of petroleum dropped 88%, leaving Japan helpless against the American force. In 1807, Britain and France saw no such drop in economy, but America, who relied on trade, did. By objective morality I do not simply mean that morality exists in the sense that various societies consider various actions to be immoral. What I mean is that certain actions are inherently right or wrong regardless of what any society thinks about them. In other words, I mean that there is an objective morality which exists independently of human beliefs and human civilization. There are many people who have the opinion that it is not possible to believe in such an objective morality without also believing in concepts such as God or an eternal soul. According to this perspective, rocks fell to the ground while steam rose because everything tends to go to its natural place. If we do a more thorough examination, including all the cultures throughout all of history, we will find an even larger variety of opinions regarding the law of gravity. This does not, though, mean that there is no objective law of gravity which exists independently of human society. The beliefs in gravity which I described are attempts by human societies to approximate reality. Clearly, some approximations are better than others. Perhaps the current belief in the curvature of space time is also incorrect and will later be replaced by an even better approximation. However, most people would have no problem agreeing that the curvature of space time explanation of gravity is a better approximation to reality than the explanations which came before it. All that this shows is that even though different cultures hold very different beliefs about a certain issue, this does not necessarily imply that there is no objective reality behind these beliefs. The claim which I will be arguing for is that this is the same for morality as it is for gravity. The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is an allegory that connects the boys behavior in the novel to the basic behavior of human nature. However, Simon, a quiet boy, finds that the beast is not an animal that everyone should fear, but is a part of each boy himself. As Simon wanders back to a beautiful meadow that he had traveled to before, he finds that it has changed. Through modern stereotypes and accustomed oppression, the odds are working against minorities. As a society we have become familiarized with the comfort of color blindness, this is a term used for the ignorance that surrounds diversity issues today. Mellody Hobson, executive president of Ariel Investments, is an African American woman that has chosen to confront the lack of understanding involving diversity issues involving race, gender, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status, and education and tagging it as Color Bravery. Throughout her discussion, Hobson engages and connects with her audience through her personal stories, facial expressions, tone of voice, and passion about diversity. Hobson sees her audience as individuals who are struggling to understand the diversity issues that surround race, gender, and religion. She assumes that her audience has little awareness of the institutionalized injustices minorities face everyday. With that being said, she does not use her discussion to ridicule or judge them for not understanding the real problems involving diversity, instead she focuses on opening their eyes to begin to understand the obstacles our society needs to overcome in order to start celebrating diversity. While the brain can synthesize saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, it must rely on uptake of either the preformed DHA and AA or their dietary precursors, which can be converted to DHA and ARA within the brain. While the brain does have the capacity to synthsize DHA its rate of synthesis relative to uptake from the plasma is relatively low suggesting that uptake from plasma and not synthesis within the brain is the major source. Furthermore, while the liver can upregulate its ability to synthesize DHA especially under conditions of low dietary omega 3 intake, the brain does not upregulate DHA synthesis under these conditions. ... We found that the coefficient of uptake or the rate of uptake from the unesterified pool, alone, was sufficient to explain the rate of uptake of all the labelled plasma pools upon oral administration. Or more, simply put, it appeared as if the unesterified pool was the major source, if not the only source, supplying the brain upon oral administration. We then used another kinetic model to calculate the rate at which DHA exists the brain and found this rate of DHA exiting the brain to be similar to the uptake rate from the plasma unesterified pool. Because DHA is no longer accumulating in the rodent brain, this suggested that unesterified DHA was, again, the major pool supplying the brain. Importantly, several groups had reported that upon acute administration of labelled unesterified DHA or DHA esterified to lysophosphatidylcholine, more radioactivity, presumably from DHA, was present in the brain after several hours. Furthermore, evidence that Mfsd2a a protein that facilicates the uptake of lsyophosphatidlycholine containing DHA into the brain, knockout had lower brain DHA levels compared to wildytype controls combined with observation of more radiolabelled DHA entering the brain was used to suggest that lysophosphosphaticly choline containing DHA was the major plasma source ... Usually it is a combination of ripped up jeans with stains all over them, no doubt from strenuous manual labor, and some random camo pattern tee shirt that probably has barbeque sauce on it, and of course the muddy cowboy boots and dirty hat. Rednecks use boundaries to distinguish themselves from others in these ways and more, their vehicles, their attire, their language, and their life styles. Rednecks are very proud of their life ... • 43. Boarding School Seasons Chapter Summaries Boarding School Seasons by Brenda J. Child offers a look into the boarding school experiences of many American Indian students. Child favors unpublished sources such as letters to give an uncensored inside look into boarding school experiences. However, she also includes other sources such as school newspapers, oral history collections, photographs, biographies, United States government publications, and annual reports. Government boarding schools were created to help the American government gain more control over Indians and to push the Natives to adopt the white ways of life such as language, skill, and education. While integration was the ultimate objective, Child sets out to show that even with the challenges of cultural assimilation and a devastating land policy, American Indian people, even children, placed limits on assimilation and also defined and shaped the boarding school era. (viii) The boarding schools designed to tear American Indian families apart did not succeed in isolating children from their tribes, but created bonds and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The schools were overcrowded, students were malnourished, and the federal government neglected to provide Native children with even the most basic necessities in the schools where they resided. (32) This chapter also discussed the assimilation process. Government schools taught students to be ashamed of their names, their tribal languages, and even family surnames derived from tribal language. (29) The next chapters speak of the homesickness many students felt because of the assimilation policies keeping children from returning home on breaks and of the diseases that spread rapidly throughout the schools such as tuberculosis and trachoma. Through the use of letters between students and parents, Child paints a portrait of the emotional hardships families faced from being separated with little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Bonding Chemical Properties The overall purpose of this lab was to see how bonding effects chemical and physical properties. The lab consisted of 6 compounds Dodecanoic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Duodecose, Octadecanoic Acid, Potassium Bromide and Amylose. Using these compounds, tests were conducted on their appearance, solubility in distilled water, conductivity and melting point. There are 3 groups these compounds can be organized into. One group is Dodecanoic Acid and Stearic Acid. Another group is Duodecose and Amylose and the last group is Sodium Chloride and Potassium Bromide. These compounds are put into these groups because of their similar structures and properties. Dodecanoic Acid and Octadecanoic Acid are in the same group because they are both made up long chains of carbon and carboxyl groups, and are non polar covalent bonds. In non polar covalent bonds electrons are shared equally, and held together by atoms. Both Dodecanoic Acid and Octadecanoic are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. The data shows they are insoluble, this is because of their long chains of carbon, and a carboxyl group (COOH) at the end causes them to have increasing hydrophobic which decreases their solubility in water. The data also shows they are poor electrical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In polar covalent bonds electrons are shared unequally between 2 atoms. Both Duodecose and Amylose are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Both of the compounds have a high number of hydroxyl groups, which help them bond with hydrogen atoms in water thus making them soluble which is supported by the data. Duodecose and Amylose are both bad conductors because of their polar covalent bond. Since covalent bonds do not contain ions, they don t carry any charge therefore making Duodecose and Amylose low conductors. Duodecose and Amylose are in the same group because they both have hydroxyl groups, and are polar covalent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
