Panera Case Study
In 1976, Au Bon Pain ( where good bread is ) Bakery was opened as a response to the request for a
conceptional fast casual restaurant. Ronald Shaich and Louis Kane merged their business, Cookie Jar
Bakery and Aub Bon Pain Bakery, together after a period of debt to create Au Bon Pain Co. Inc. In
1985, the two decided to add fresh made sandwiches to their menu after noticing that their customers
were buying their fresh baked bread in order to capitalize on their profit. As of September 25, 2012,
they have over 1,600 locations in over 44 states and Canada. More than 776 of its locations are
company operated, while the rest are run by franchisees. Its locations operate under the names Panera

Their primary marketing objective is to strategize menu development in order to grow customer base.
In the case, it is indicated that Panera manufactures its own fresh dough; which is not only produced,
but also delivered daily all over the country. Management at Panera views this as a competitive
advantage rather than viewing it as a costly process. Also, due to the rising cost of ingredients due to
the current economy, it is likely that Panera s menu pricing will experience a rise and possible item
substitution or replacement. I have personally already experienced this. The price of ingredients
greatly affects the menu pricing. In order for there to be an effective analysis of their cost, more
information is required on the cost of producing the items listed on Panera s menu. It would be
suggested that Panera should evaluate ways to offer lower prices on their food without having a major
financial impact on the company s profit margin. Panera s total system wide revenues rose from
$350.8 million in 2000 to over $1,558.5 million in 2012. The share price has increased from $3.88 a
share on December 31, 1999 to $160.17 a share on January 30, 2012 at 11:41 AM EST. Panera s
objectives include, but are not limited to: high density urban feeding, a welcoming atmosphere of
coffee shops with the quick service of fast food, fresh baked artisan breads, in restaurant experience

The Pros of Employment for Ex-Cons Essay
The Pros of Employment for Ex Cons
In the last thirty years the crime rate in the United States has decreased, but the number of people
incarcerated has increased because longer minimum sentences and stricter requirements for parole
have been established. Offenders serve longer prison sentences that lead to a variety of employment
related barriers to overcome after release (Bracey 253). In the State of Nebraska, ex offenders find
little help when searching for employment. On the Department of Correction s website, the mission
statement reads,
The mission of the Department of Correctional Services is to serve and protect the public by providing
control, humane care, and program opportunities for those individuals placed in its custody ... Show

Employment, or lack there of, is said to be one of the top two factors in recidivism (Agan Mencl;
Pannkuk). Recidivism has become a nationwide problem, and many are looking for ways to reduce its
rate (Bracey 253).
Ex offenders have a hard time finding long standing, good paying employment because of the barriers
they face. One of those barriers is a lack of skills needed to gain employment (Holzer, Raphael, and
Stoll 4 5). Many offenders are both undereducated and unemployed when they enter prison, and while
in prison, often fail to gain adequate education or skills because there are no resources offered to
acquire these skills (Smith). Also, employers fear hiring ex offenders because of their criminal past.
John Rakis, who wrote, Improving the Employment Rates of Ex Prisoners Under Parole, says many
employers have a prejudice, against hiring an ex offender (Rakis 8). Along with employers being wary
of a criminal past, ex offenders also have large gaps in their employment history, as a result of the time
served in prison. These gaps cause ex offenders to appear as undependable employees, and employers
become hesitant of hiring the ex offenders (Bracey 253). Richard Coley and Paul Barton, who jointly
wrote, Locked up and Locked out: An Educational Perspective on the U.S. Prison Population, say,
Employers value experience and continuity of work history (Coley and Barton 30). When an offender

Why Overpopulation Is The Problem
Research physicist for the American Center for International Policy Studies, Gioietta Kuo, in her
article Mega Crisis? Overpopulation is the Problem describes the possibility of a global mega crisis, a
perfect storm of political, economic, and environmental instability resulting from overpopulation and
leading to the extinction of mankind (Kuo, 23). The purpose of Kuo s article is to stress the fact that
overpopulation has been over looked as the source of many of the problems afflicting the world today,
including climate change, food and water scarcity, environmental degradation, as well as other
economic and social effects like unemployment. She adopts logos, ethos, and pathos as well as an
urgent tone in order to persuade the United Nations, government officials, and the general public to
acknowledge the fact the current high population is the main cause of the problems affecting the world
today and also to stress that the unchecked population growth will lead to a mega crisis.
Kuo was spurred into writing this article by two events, the first was the publishing of an article titled
Global MegaCrisis: Four Scenarios, Two perspectives by William Halal and Michael Marien in May
June 2011. The articled also discussed the impending mega crisis but according to Kuo it failed to
include the one evil that is the mother of all others: world overpopulation (Kuo, 23). With this
statement she hopes to invoke the feeling of urgency and create awareness of the ignored source

When Conducting The Research For My Survey, I Will Be...
When conducting the research for my survey, I will be studying the political preference of people in
correlation to the political preference of the town they grew up in. For example, a person is more
likely to be a Republican if they originate from a Republican dominated town. The independent
variable, the variable whose variation does not depend on the other, that will be studied is political
preference of the participant: Republican, Democratic or Independent. A person s political preference
can have many conceptual definitions. It can mean the person lives a certain lifestyle, or they have
views on policy and how the government should run. It can also determine stereotypical characters as
about the person themselves. Moreover, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Please choose how strongly you agree with the statement: My parents imposed
Republican values on me throughout my childhood. 1 = Extremely Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 =
Neutral, 4 = Agree, 5 = Agree.
The hypothesis of this study is people are more likely to be a specific political party depending on the
majority of the political preference of the participant s hometown. There is a positive relationship
between the two variables of the person s political preference and their hometown s political
preference. This type of research and survey has drawn a lot of attention from the media with the
current 2016 Presidential Election between now President Donald J. Trump and Senator Hillary
Clinton. This election had a much stronger impact on the population of the United States both
mentally and emotionally. Through general knowledge and evidence, the media made an abundant
amount of traction on how numerous statisticians and pollers predicted Clinton to win the election by
a landslide. In the end, they were wrong as Trump won the presidency. It is important to understanding
how to determine if someone is a Republican or Democratic and their voting patterns to correctly
predict future outcomes of elections. Similarly, I have predicted this proposed hypothesis based on the
assumption that children gain traits like their parents. If parents impose political beliefs, it could affect
the child and what they grow up to believe. Certain traits and

Work Memory Analysis
Introduction
The working memory aids our ability to remember words over non words, specifically the
phonological loop and visuospatial sketchpad (Baddeley, Hitch, 1994). Other studies by (Paivio, 1991)
have shown that concrete words are easier to recall than abstract words due to semantic associations.
The purpose of this paper is to explore the parts of memory that help certain words to be more easily
remembered than others. Memory is the system that enables us to learn skills and gain information
through sensory memory and short term storage. It is also the process that allows us to retrieve this
information from long term storage (Baddeley, 1974). Being able to create a new memory, put that
memory away in storage, and bring it back when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They proposed the phonological loop had evolved for language acquisition and storage. Also their
study found that the ability to pronounce a word places it in phonological storage, allowing you to
recall the memory quicker (Baddeley, 1994). The phonological loop has been found to be a workspace
for verbal information (Baddeley, 1994). Other studies have also found that the phonological loop
works to process auditory information as well (Reisberg, 2013). The visuospatial sketchpad,
(Baddeley, 1994) was used to recall a visual object. In the visuospatial sketchpad images are placed on
different spatial maps, which then tied together with the spatial workspace on the visuospatial
sketchpad. The decision maker of working memory is the central executive. It decides which
memories are retrieved, what information you should focus on, how important the information is, and
how to attain goals (Riesberg, 2013). Without the central executive, our thoughts and actions would be
unorganized in our working memory (Riesberg, 2013). In order to reduce the workload of the central
executive, and allow it to focus towards important tasks, the episodic buffer works to store the
information gathered from the visuospatial sketchpad and phonological loop (Baddeley, 1974). These
models of memory show us how it is organized and operates, and there are other models of memory
that go into how memory aids our

George Washington s Victory At Trenton
With the shot heard round the world at Lexington and Concord, the American colonies were on a
collision course with one of the most powerful empires of that day. One key, pivot point of the conflict
known as the American Revolutionary War was GEN George Washington s victory at Trenton, New
Jersey on December 26, 1776. However, GEN Washington s victory might not have been possible
without the help of some timely intelligence, both for the American side, as well as intelligence
blunders by the British forces defending Trenton. By disregarding intelligence warnings, as well as
relying on only on single intelligence source, the British commander at Trenton made a fatal error,
which likely led to a British defeat, and may have contributed to the ... Show more content on

There is also evidence that COL Rall was informed by spies and British sympathizers that the
Americans were going to attack, but COL Rall ignored this information and did not set up any
defenses in the town., He also did not send out any patrols on the morning of December 26. After the
battle a message warning of an American attack was found in COL Rall s pocket after his death.

together for enormous multi day parties. New York Ranger (2014) points out that DJs are the new rock
stars .
While attendance at concerts and festivals for other music genres declined by 8.3% in the past three

Standard Deduction
Introduction
Standard deduction is a provision of the United States federal income tax system, which serves two
purposes including a least amount amount of untaxed income, thus acting as an ingredient of
progressivity. Second, it provides a simplified alternative to the itemized deductions for tax payers
with comparatively low itemizable expenses, thus relieving them of the record keeping and
computational burden of itemizing deductions. Having one provision is a compromise to other but it is
a compromise that is unnecessary. (Samansky, 1991)
A base sum of income that is not focused to tax and that can be used to decrease a taxpayer s adjusted
gross income (AGI), a standard deduction can only be used if the taxpayer does not prefer the
itemized deduction method of calculating taxable income. The sum of the standard deduction is based
on a taxpayer s filing status, age and whether he or she is disabled or claimed as a reliant on another
person s tax return.
The major reason taxpayers exercise standard instead of itemized deductions is that taxpayers don t
have to keep track of every potential tax deductible expense throughout the year. Plus, a lot of people
find the standard deduction amount to be fairly generous and usually greater than the total they could
reach if they added up all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People often overlook or fail to record allowable tax deductions and keep their approach only for the
standard amount specified by the IRS. For instance, homeowners often pay more interest and real
estate tax than the standard deduction permits. Also, small business owners who have a running home
office often can incur additional tax deductions higher than the standard amount. Taxpayers must keep
accurate records along with actual receipts to itemize deductions. Failure to do this makes the standard
deduction a advantage but also may cost you a lot of money in tax

Ergot Is The Main Cause Of The Salem Witch Trials
The poisonous fungus Ergot is the main cause of the Salem Witch Trials because in the 1500s, Rye
bread was found to be a main staple of people s diets, and the the spread of this fungus through the
consumption of Rye is the only feasible explanation to the random outbreak of witch persecution.
The first reason why Ergot is the main cause of the Salem Witch Trials is that the symptoms of those
who were bewitched were experiencing line up exactly with the symptoms of those who had
consumed Ergot. Linda R. Caporael of University of California at Santa Barbara argues that symptoms
displayed by the children thought to be bewitched fits and complaints of being pricked or bitten, for
example were typical of ergotism. This suggest that those

Main Stakeholders Of The Ginsters Company
1.0 Introduction
In this assignment I will be discussing the main topic stakeholder theory, what it means to a company
and how it relates to the Ginsters Company. I will also be writing about the main stakeholders in the
Ginsters Company and carrying out an analysis on the company s main stakeholders and how the
company approaches the corporate social responsibility.
2.0 Stakeholder Theory
John Kew and John Stredwick mention that Jonhson et all 2011 defines a stakeholder as those
individuals or groups who depend on the organisation to fulfil their own goals and on who in turn the
organisation depends.
An organisation has external stakeholders and internal stakeholders. External stakeholders are
individuals or groups outside the business who are linked to the organisation in some way but not
directly these can be customers, shareholders, society, suppliers and the government. On the other
hand are Internal Stakeholders, these stakeholders are individuals or groups who work directly inside
the business. These are the employees, managers and owners of the company.
Stakeholder theory looks at the relationships between an organization and others in its internal and
external environment. It also looks at how these relationships affect how the organization conducts its
activities. You can think of a stakeholder as a person or organization that can affect or be affected by
your organization. Stakeholders can come from inside or outside of the

Teenage Pregnancy Essay
Teenage pregnancy is one of the issues in our country today. It is a major problem because many
teenagers are not aware that having a child when you re a child yourself comes with big
responsibilities. Sometimes many teenagers feel like they must be sexual active to prove a point and
sometimes teenagers are even pressured by their friends or even their soul mate. Teenage pregnancy is
a very big problem and more needs to be done to prevent teen pregnancy and to educate teens about its
consequences.
A lot of places and people exist that teens can go to for information about teenage pregnancy. One of
the first places that teens can go to would be school because in school they provide classes that talks
about pregnancy and its consequences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents have already seen and have been through situations when they were teenagers, so they would
know what to say and would know how you feel because they were once teens. So, talking to a parent
can be helpful because they know what true love is and know how hard it is to raise A baby at such a
young age and because of that they would like for their children to know about it and that it s a major
problem to be involved in. Parents also can give you good advice on not worrying about boys or kids
while being a teen and to focus on making good decisions by staying in school and having a good
career for yourself.
In the same way doctors, can also communicate with teenagers about what they can do to stay away
from pregnancy. Doctors help teenagers by talking to them a showing them what can happen to them
by having unprotected sex and its consequences. They explain to teens that having unprotected sex
could leave them with a sexual transmitted disease or even a child that could mess their life up. The
Providers can offer sexually active teens a broad range of contraceptive methods and encourage them
to use the most effective methods (Best). Going to the doctors is always a good choice because they
give teens a brief explanation on teen pregnancy and goes over all its roles on why you don t want to
be a mother at such an early age. Teens

The Struggle Of Control And Women
Ah knows uh few things, and womenfolks thinks sometimes too! Aw naw they don t. They just think
they s thinkin . When Ah see one thing Ah understands ten. You see ten things and don t understand
one. Times and scenes like that put Janie to thinking about the inside state of her marriage. Time came
when she fought back with her tongue as best as she could, but it didn t do her any good. It just made
Joe do more. He wanted her submission and he s keep on fighting until he felt he had it. (Hurston 71)
(E) In this passage, Hurston effectively conveys the struggle of control and the roles of gender in a
relationship. The dominating figure of the relationship is the man, Jody, who oppresses her and
exercises his power over her in order to boost his social reputation and to retain the control in the
relationship. Men are capable of proving their dominance by belittling and disrespecting women, who
are deemed as the less stronger and more delicate ones in the relationship. These beliefs are held by
Jody, as he deems women less intelligent than men, because they see ten things and don t understand
one. Janie, opposing these traditional values set by their society, has a different viewpoint, believing
that women can be smart and ambitious. As much as she challenges him and invalidates his
arguments, Jody does not care about a fair argument, and he only retaliates further. In their
relationship, her verbal fight is no match against his physical dominance over her, which

A Short Note On Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma
Non Hodgkin s lymphoma is one of the most common types of cancers in the United States that affect
mostly older adults. The American Cancer Society estimates that 72,580 people in the Unites States
will be diagnosed with the disease just in the year 2016 alone. Of that number, there are about 20,150
people expected to die from the disease. There is also a 2% chance of people in the United States

the causes, prevention and treatment options of the disease which has helped clinicians and patients to

Copstead and Banasik (2012) describe the pathophysiology of Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma as being

precursor cell. It is believed that viruses such as the Epstein Barr virus and the human T cell leukemia
virus, type 1(HTLV) can actually cause some lymphomas like the Burkitt lymphoma and Adult T cell
lymphoma to develop. The authors maintain that Non Hodgins s lymphoma are more likely to spread
early in comparison with Hodgkin disease. Most of the time these people with Non Hodgins s
lymphoma are often diagnosed at stage III or stage IV of the disease. Overall, there is a 5 year survival
rate for all of the different types of lymphoma (p.229).
Clinical manifestations
The clinical manifestations of non Hodgins s lymphoma may include painless lymphadenopathy,
fever, night sweats, weight loss, malaise, and pruritus (Copstead Krikhorn, 2012).

The Development And Analysis Of Microsatellite Dna Essay
10
THE DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS OF MICROSATELLITE DNA
Summary
Due to the significant negative impact of the industrial activities on the habitat, many species have
become endangered. To conserve the species, a thorough investigation is needed. In this case, the
research is based on the study the interdependencies between the genotype and spatial dispersal of
populations.
Despite being endangered, turtles comprise rather specific object for such investigations, as well as
any other long lived organisms, because their reproduction cycles complicate the genetic
investigations using conventional methods. That is why the novel DNA markers, microsatellites, were
chosen for this research.
Although the microsatellites are very informative and universal, the overall cost for research is higher
than for RAPD and AFLP. This is mostly due to the cost of the fluorescent dye which is used in the
PCR. To eliminate this, I will apply an interesting technique which allows for incorporation of the dye
by the forward primer into the product of polymerization thus saving a considerable amount of the
dye.
Generally, I plan to base research on such steps:
Studying the populations of Apalone spinifera and Apalone mutica based on available data;
Taking samples of blood from the animals which are going to be caught by hand in their usual habitat.
The sampling will occur in the least possible harmful way;
Testing 12 pairs of primers initially developed for Apalone spinifera using the

Analysis Of George Orwell s Narrator In Shooting An Elephant
Fitting In: Orwell s Narrator in Shooting an Elephant
Since the publication of George Orwell s, Shooting an Elephant in 1936 many philosophers have
engaged in conversation about humanity, violence, politics, power, dominance, race, culture and
principles. Orwell was in fact a genius plain and simple, though in a very complicated way (Firchow
94). George Orwell brings you into his essay with lucid and vivid details the entire way starting from
the setting, I remember that it was a cloudy, stuffy morning at the beginning of the rains, (25) to the
characters attitudes towards one another, if a European woman went through the bazaars alone
somebody would probably spit betel juice over her dress (23). The essay starts with the narrator,
whom we assume is Orwell, a white man working as a sub divisional police officer in Moulmein,
Burma where the British have a colonized. Being English, the narrator Orwell is hated by many of the
natives, When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee (another Burman)
looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter (Orwell 23). One morning, Orwell
receives a call about an elephant ram sacking the town and even killing a native Burman. Ultimately
forcing Orwell into a dilemma of his own morality of what he ought to do and trying not to let down
the immense crowd of yellow faces (26). Orwell shoots the elephant essentially killing him. The
elephants death shows the complex range of human

Writing By Omission By John Mcphee Summary
Try Greening That
The first article listed to read was Writing by Omission by John McPhee, which I found to be an
interesting lens to inspect the three pieces from the The Globe and Mail we chose to read. Out of the
four readings of the week, Writing by Omission was by far the most insightful. McPhee uses his own
tribulations as a writer in the industry to illustrate his notion that writing is selection. Every word,
paragraph, and chapter must be selected amongst a great arc of potentialities available to the writer,
and it is the author s grand task to carefully choose the most appropriate next piece.
McPhee recounts his time trying to select the best words to be left behind from his manuscripts and
what should be restored and what shouldn t be. The idea of greening a paper comes from his work at
Time, where the articles had to fit a specified number of lines. The authors were told to Green 5, and
had no choice but to comply by removing five entire lines from their work. The practice, McPhee
argues, forces the writer to make the most out of what they have and how making a piece tighter and
more restricted enhances its appeal. I can t help but wonder how many lines could be greened from my
own reflective papers, or my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

company before leaving it all. In the end, he did make his way successfully climb into a commercial

Analysis Of Communications Service Providers ( Csps )
Communications service providers (CSPs) all over the globe are seeing an unprecedented rise in
volume, variety and velocity of information due to next generation mobile network roll outs, increased
use of smartphones, the rise of social media, and the impending explosion of the Internet of Things
(IoT). There are two additional Vs to consider as well: veracity and value. Collectively, this outlines
the big data challenge that CSPs face today. There is more data from more sources being generated
faster every day, and CSPs must determine which bits and bytes have to most impact on business
decisions. In this competitive climate, the CSPs who can tackle the big data challenge will

Now, the majority mobile users use smartphones, and as a result, consume far more data than feature
phone users. This has driven traffic levels through the roof, and, coupled with the highly competitive
mobile market, created a need for better customer care. In fact, as we ve written in Pipeline numerous
times, the customer experience is a major differentiating factor in telecommunications and one of the
keys to success.
One way to leverage big data is through proactive intelligence. By combining multiple data streams
into an analytical framework, service providers can understand patterns, behaviors, and service
characteristics in exciting new ways, and build automated response solutions that head off problems
before they occur. A perfect application of this is proactive customer service. By correlating network,
application, location, and customer data, along with third party, unstructured data sources, into a single
tool, customer service agents can be presented with a solution before a customer utters a word. One
service provider that Pipeline interviewed for this story is able to pull from 65 data sources in real
time, and display resolutions in less than half a second to care agents. This is clearly a competitive
advantage, as it reduces handling times and therefore lowers costs, and delivers rapid issue resolution
to customers. This can be further extended to self care portals, and even further modified to

nurses to understand and be aware of key challenges such as the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that
are essential to constantly advance the quality and safety of the way healthcare systems work. The
goal for QSEN is to reshape the identity of nursing so it includes the recommendations by the Institute

Teamwork and collaboration with other healthcare providers is very important. To function effectively
there needs to be mutual respect, open communication, and shared decision making in the best interest
of the patient. As a member of a team it is vital to know ones own strengths and limitations, this way
patients receive the best care. Evidence based practice is when recent research is integrated into the
clinical setting for maximum delivery of health care. A lot of evidence based practice was developed
from research studies conducted by nurses such as decubitis ulcer prevention. Knowing and
demonstrating the scientific methods and processes will help to advance nursing care by providing
better interventions for patient care. Patient care plans should be developed based on evidence (Dycus,
2009). With monitoring outcomes from evidence based practice it can be determined if the care caused
improvement in the healthcare setting. Using quality measures such as charts and diagrams to
understand performance. If care provided to a patient is not safe, than the intervention is ineffective
and therefore not helping to improve that patient s quality of life. To help provide a safe environment,
observation and communication are extremely important. Inform the patient and family of any
interventions before proceeding with them to insure the patient

Techniques In The Red Umbrella
The Red Umbrella by Christina Diaz Gonzalez and the photograph Migration by Jose Hernandez

expose the subject of migration, but they also use many different techniques. They also express the
way they feel about the results of migration. There are several differences between the excerpt and the
photo, but these are some similarities that can be found between the techniques used. One technique
that can be found in the picture and the text is the topic, the topic shared is migration... In The Red

reactions. When Frankie revealed he didn t want to leave Cuba, he revealed it through dialogue by
expressing his feelings to his parents. In the photograph, there is absolutely no dialogue, because it s a
photo! Another difference is imagery. In the picture, the biggest technique used is imagery, because
you can clearly see what the artist is trying to show you, like the men riding on a train with worried
expressions. In The Red Umbrella there is very little imagery. Lastly, a difference between the two is
the plot. You see, in The Red Umbrella there is a story... The author makes sure to explain what is

Norma Jean wants to be free and fly off like a bird would. Symbolically, the narrator is likening the
main character to birds: It (Leroy s rig) sits in the backyard like a gigantic bird that has flown home to
roost. (p. 804). Leroy s rig is an extension of him and shows that both he and his rig are home to stay

the narrator describes that, She is picking cake crumbs from the cellophane wrapper, like a fussy bird.

Moreover, Norma Jean is specifically stated as a fussy bird . Norma Jean has finally hit her end and

Key Features Of The Pseudo Code
Pseudo Code is a concept that allows programmer to define certain logic in terms of plain simple
steps, which can act as a solution to the problem.
Pseudo Code is important because it helps the programmer to define the logic before implementing the
actual program. This can be extremely important when a programmer is trying to solve a very
complex program. In such cases, the programmer can understand the problem and define all the
possible solutions steps in completeness and also get it verified without the corresponding output
defined. It helps programmer to save significant time and cost while implementing the actual program.
Since, the Pseudo Code is defined in a natural language it can easily be understood by other
programmers as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Key features of Procedural Programming
Procedural Programming is made of a few key features, which are given below:
Pre defined functions: Functions that are frequently needed are defined as a part of the programming
language itself so that the programmer can easily use these functions for most common functionality,
which is also very repetitive.
For Example:
A function like System.out.println can be used to output the content on the command prompt or as an
output of the function.
Global variables: Global variables are variables that are defined at the beginning of the program and
can be accessed through the execution of the entire program. The Global variable is usually defined as
a static variable.
Local variables: Local variables are variables that can only be accessed within the certain section of
the code like a function or method and not available during the complete execution of the program. In
certain cases if the local variable is redeemed with the same name as a global variable then the local
variable will take precedence in the corresponding

German Aggression Dbq Essay
It is heavily debated that the display of German aggression inevitably contributed to the outbreak of
general European tensions, and war in 1914. The use of strategies such as the Anglo German Naval
Race, as stated in Joll s source, highlighted the aggression by Germany prior to war. Moreover, this
type of tactic also demonstrated the desire and hunger Germany obtained for continental power,
another factor towards European tensions. The sources in question both support and contest the set
statement, to an extent. Sources 1 and 3 by Corrigan and Joll, respectively, argue how Germany s use
of tactics agitated European powers, thus causing war. However, Source 2 by Turner disagrees with

Joll contrasts with Turner, arguing how the German strategy of aggression via the arms race led to
general war; Arms race, in which all major powers were involved contributed to the sense that war
was bound to come, sooner rather than later . The quote implies that the use of the Arms Race was a
major factor towards the inevitable war, also highlighting the aggression of Germany. Additonally, the
source indicates the turbulent effect of the arms race on the nation; it caused serious financial
difficulties for all governments involved . This demonstrates the severe impact of German aggression
and how it had some severe flaws, despite hoping that the race would make for peace rather than war .
A prime example of the consequences of German aggression was the July Crisis in 1914. The crisis
led to severe consequences between Germany and other nations. The unconditional support by
Germany for Austria Hungary aka blank cheque led to an increase in the chances of armed conflict
and higher chances of war occurring. Overall, this is evident that Germany s involvement in other
nations conflict only spurred the chances of war. In support of Joll, Corrigan and Fischer also
highlight how German aggression was creating war. Moreover, the historians also concluded how
Germany were adamant that the war would create two things in German favour power via annexation

The Effect of Helicopter Parents No Escape from Helicopter Parents by Felix Carroll discusses the

are being suffocated by their parents. My own experience with helicopter parents yields a point that is

many parents hover over their children because they feel their kids have found things of better interest.

Secondly, kids tend to have a closer relationship with their parents because their parents have now
become more of a friend to them instead of an authority. Carroll speaks of Mark Gamsjager, saying He
skateboards and snowboards with his two boys, Austin, 13, and Thomas, 9 (Carroll 32). This type of
relationship will be beneficial when Mark s children grow older because they will have something in
common with him and it will continue to keep the relationship close. I have a similar relationship with
my parents and it has been nothing but beneficial to me. Eighteen years compared to a lifetime is not
very long so it is important that kids develop close relationships with their parents before it is time to
move off to college. I am grateful that my father is a helicopter parents because I was able to spend a
great amount of time with him before I moved out. Carroll ultimately proves his point that helicopter
parents are a negative influence on their children because parents are too obsessed with your children.
You treat them like little princes and princesses...and by the time they get to college and are asked
who their hero is, your child will cay those words you long to hear: My dad. My mom (Carroll 32).
One of many reasons why helicopter parenting is a downfall is because students with over protective
parents tend to lack self reliance and independence once they are on their own. Because everything
has been done for them by their parents, many students once in

The five movements of Beethoven s Symphony No. 6 Pastorale draw listeners in with a quick, but
leisurely tempo and rich developed movements. The symphony seemingly flows and fits the titles
beautifully. It is easy to paint a picture of a noble countryside, nature, and all the activities it entails.
Beethoven s Piano Concerto No.5 Emperor is a three part traditional concerto, an Allegro, Adagio, and
the Rondo. This concerto was named Emperor because of the powerful themes and heroic note of the
composition (www.all about beethoven.com/concerto5.html).
The opening of the concerto brings a main theme introduced by a solo piano with the full orchestra
providing a dramatic presence of several chords. The piano flourishes grow in length until reaching a
cadenza after the third time. The full orchestra joins in and carries the theme into the full exposition.
The theme is bold with a pleasant interjection of a second subject that seems to tiptoe through the
movement. The orchestra stays in the tonic key as the piano modulates and reaches a wide variety of
tones as the scales are worked. The development of the movement effectively flips the lead. The
orchestra now leads and the piano accompanies. The main theme rhythm is reinforced by a powerful
bassoon. The coda is lead by horns and joined by the rest of the orchestra to a thrilling close.
The second movement is a slow movement and begins quietly

Why We Need The Military
We must never forget why we have, and why we need our military. Our armed forces exist solely to
ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night, knowing we
have guardians at the gate, said Allen West,a retired Army lieutenant colonel and a former member of
the House of Representatives. He explained America s need for a strong military perfectly in this
quote. The United States depends on their military to protect them from all different kinds of threats
like cyber warfare or terrorist attacks.
In order to see why an increase in military spending is needed, one must look at the damaged
equipment, the need for new and improved equipment and then look at what it would take to defeat
ISIS.
After the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the amount of damaged equipment was immense. The Army
and the Marine Corps lost about 40 percent of their ground equipment from the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. The military still needs to replace some of the damaged equipment from the end of the
Iraq war in 2011. Some of the vehicles got blasted by bombs, others got covered up by desert sand,

go round . These first couple of lines drew my attention because at the moment, I feel like I m living
the same thing over and over again. It s the same thing every day. Go to school, get good grades, go to
the studio, do homework until midnight, get 6 or 7 hours of sleep, then wake up and do everything
over again. The next couple of lines say And you can t find the fighter, but I see it in you so we re
gonna walk it out and move mountains. These words made me think about everything differently. This
year I ve been under a lot of stress pertaining to grades, SATs, scholarships, and applications.
Sometimes I don t know how I m going to fit everything in. There s just not enough time in a day. I
realized that over time, once I get everything done, I will be going to college and then maybe change
the world afterwards.

Peaceful Protest In The United States
In recent years, the issue of peaceful and violent protests has arisen in the United States of America,
and from these protests, a question has arisen: how do these peaceful protest affect our free society?
The answer to this controversial question lies in the meaning of peaceful protest and application of
this definition. Civil disobedience, or a peaceful protest, is the orderly and nonviolent purposeful
violation of laws in order to change a law or governing system. This practice has been used to change
the opinion of the citizens or the government. The repeated use of civil disobedience has led to our
society s improvement as a whole and has impacted the USA positively; these impacts are seen in the
acts of the 1968 Olympic Medalists, Tommie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both football players show disobedience not to a law but to set precedents in an effort to give support
to a very important issue in today s society and give light to a topic which is often covered up or
ignored; there is no way for these actions, with these intents and outcomes, to damage or discredit a
free society, for they are used to defend this society. Peters, Kaepernick, Carlos, and Smith all shared
one rebellion: fighting for their rights through their actions. This rebellion left a positive impact on
how the government and the people perceived their cause; without these rebellions, debates and
discussions would not occur, and change would not take place. It is through change that society
advances however change is not always welcome, but it must occur, so when necessary change is not
in favor of the governing body s interest, people must speak out to spark change. If that fails, civil
disobedience is the solution. This act is a step toward maintaining a free society and is the only way to
properly do so in drastic

My Worst Day
I never imagined that my horrible day at work would turn into such an amazing night. I was pretty
upset that I was not going to be able to spend Christmas with my boyfriend of two years Tate and his
mother Penny at their house because both of our family s were having their family Christmas the same
day. So when I got his text it started to turn the night around. I was eager for him to open his gift from
me. Also to see what he had snatched up for me. As I was putting my last resident in to bed at work as
I did every night as a certified nurses aide at Elm Haven East. I felt my cell phone vibrate in my
pocket, instead of looking to see who it was from I finished doing what I need to do in order to help
this lady into bed. When I was done I finally looked at my phone to see why it had vibrated. Much to
my surprise my boyfriend Tate had texted me, asking if I wanted to come over after work to open
Christmas presents with him and his mom Penny. Happy now that I would actually get to see him
before Christmas I eagerly replied, Yes, I would love too. See you after work . I finished up work
before clocking out. As I punched my time card I smiled with joy, knowing shortly Tate would be
opening his present I was so proud I had bought. I stepped out side to walk to my car, I saw a white
cloud coming out of my mouth as I breathed from the cold, crisp air. I pulled into his drive way
nervous to walk inside. I walked inside, my hands full of presents. I started through the house to the
living room. Penny couldn t help but have a huge smile on her face which made me even more
nervous. Penny never smiled like that. Why was she smiling now? There I stood in the living room.
Penny excitedly told Tate to go get all the presents from them out from under the tree. While he was
gone Penny asked me Are you excited to open your presents? . The question made my palms sweaty, I
hate surprises so opening presents was defiantly my least favorite thing to do at Christmas time.
Everyone staring at you to see your reaction to the gifts they bought you, I hated that. Tate finally
returned with handful of presents and still hand to go back for more. I just thought to myself how
many presents did they buy? When Tate was done bringing

Essay on Crisis Communications
Crisis communication is the most important aspect of external and internal organization
communication. This type of communication ranges from image restoration campaigns to employee
turnover. In the articles that I have analyzed, I discovered many examples of crisis communications
and its importance. I will discuss the Bridgestone Firestone Corporation s image restoration campaign
and explain Benoit s theory of image restoration. Also, I will discuss how crisis communications fits
into public relations models. Two examples for discussion will be how supervisors should convey bad
news to their employees, and group communication within employee turnover. My last example for
this discussion will be Bill Clinton s image repair discourse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

types of bad news, and the different strategies that were used. Wagoner and Waldron applied a
politeness theory to this study concluding that the nature of the face threat inherent in a bad news
event should be reliably associated with the use of redressive strategies. (p. 201) The authors finish
their study by stating that no doubt leaders and followers adjust their behavior during these episodes
based on their relational and communicative history and the anticipated relational consequences of the
event. (p. 207) This study conducted gives a good view on crisis communications within the work
place. This type of communication is important to ease tension and allow for a positive working
environment. Without companies being aware of positive crisis communications strategies, there
would be a much greater risk involved. Knowing the proper tactics for conveying bad news makes
your organization better. Group Communication and Employee Turnover: How Co workers Encourage
Peers to Voluntarily Exit (1999) is an article by Stephen A. Cox. This article is a review of social
exchange, group communication, and employee turnover. Cox reviews the relationship between
employee exit and group communication. The author applies a social exchange theory that states,

The Application Of Hardware And Software
Introduction
Throughout the semester, the class was composed of lectures and recitations where we learn to use
MatLab, PSpice, and myDAQ. After ten recitations, we were assign a group project that demonstrated
the knowledge we had gained throughout the entirety of the course. Although we had the option to
choose from the following three detention circuits: a resistor thermistor voltage divider circuit, a
phototransistor resistor voltage divider circuit, or a standard PC microphone driving the audioInput of
the myDAQ, my group opted out towards the PC microphone detention circuit. Within the PC
microphone detention circuit, the microphone should have been able to detect three different states of
noise. The first state consists of the microphone detecting no noise, the second state consists of the
microphone detecting the presence of some noise, and the third state consists of the microphone
detecting a louder noise than usual.
The Implementation of Hardware and Software
For this project we used a smartphone and the myDAQ in order to make a detection circuit that could
detect no noise, low noise, and high noise. We first connected the myDAQ to the computer and then
plugged the myDaq with the smartphone, since the phone was the sound source. We then created a
new Blank VI project in LabView, we started by producing a while loop followed by choosing acquire
signals, analog input voltage, and finally selecting audioInputLeft and audioInputRight. From there we
chose analog

Legal, Regulatory, and Ethical Issues
1. What are the 5 hottest topics today involving legal, regulatory and ethical issues impacting on
operating a B2C ebusiness? ECommerce has revolutionized the business world by expanding the
marketplace and redefining the traditional organizational structure. Its economic influence has been
considerable resulting in implications for politics, society and ethics. The future for eBusiness is
bright. It will continue its rapid expansion and may eventually take over from traditional business
practices however in today s society, there are very few laws enabling an effective transition.
ECommerce is a global concept (Hill, 2003, p12). Society, on the other hand, believes in state
sovereignty, patriotism and segregation. Political and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a cigarette company utilizes the World Wide Web for its marketing and advertising activities, they
may reach Australian audiences yet they are not breaking any laws. 4. Lack of regulatory Laws When
Tim Berners Lee developed the World Wide Web in 1989, he wanted it to become a communications
facilitator free from regulation (Berners Lee, 1996). Unfortunately, this type of facility is just not
commercially viable. If the World Wide Web is to be successfully utilized for eBusiness, regulatory
bodies need to standardize practices across the globe. Although individual countries have implemented
laws regarding computer crimes, these laws do not affect offenders outside of that sovereign state.
International legislation must ensure security for all parties involved. Moving towards a solution:
Laws regarding intellectual property should be continuously updated and there must be tougher
penalties for online crimes. This may mean the end of Berners Lee s regulation free vision, but it
provides an opportunity for a new, eCommerce friendly online environment. 5. Risk of Fraud Much
debate about the risk of fraud in electronic B2C takes place without any clear understanding about
who bears the corresponding risk in conventional commercial transactions. See full paper (URL:

Essay 1900 Vs 2000
1900 Versus 2000
I think that we take for granted the things that we have today. Just look at all of the innovations in
technology and quality of living over the last 100 years. Back in the year 1900, things went crazy. All
sorts of new inventions were coming out all of the time, and people were becoming rich beyond their
wildest dreams. In my opinion, the past 100 years have left us in a completely different world.
Back in the early 1900 s people were amazed to see a person driving down the road in something
called an automobile. This was astonishing. People were getting around without a horse to pull them.
All the person had to do is press the gas pedal to make the car move. ... Show more content on

They had no idea how all of these complicated things worked and that scared them. many of them
wished that none of these things had ever been invented.
Today, technology is advancing at an incredible rate. You can t even buy a computer that isn t already
obsolete. People can now communicate with a video phone, or fly to another country in a matter of
hours. You can run a multi million dollar business from your computer at home. People can go on the
Internet and find out information on everything from the weather to a recipe for chicken soup.
Unlike 1900, if you don t get a good education in today s world, you will not be successful. Even
people who go to college aren t guaranteed to make a lot of money. Today, a car can cost tens of
thousands of dollars, where as back in 1900 you could get one for under a thousand. Back then people
were worried about the destruction of the forests, and today, we worry about what countries might
destroy us with nuclear weapons.
It seems to me that people at the early part of the last century were a lot happier than people of today.
They were surrounded by all of the excitement of the rapidly changing world. People were always
going to parties and having fun. Today,
I hear a lot of talk about how bad people are. There is always something on the news about how a little

Skywest Case Study
Dennis Marriott
Strategic Management
Fall 2011
Sky West, Inc.
1. The dominant characteristics of the U.S. regional airline industry are they are mostly controlled by
larger airlines or have a contract with them to secure flights. . Most regional airlines are there for
smaller communities to access a flight to the major hubs. Most of the regional airlines service to major
airports, so they are connected or part of a servicing contract with national airlines, who in turn are
part of the operations of the global airline industry. Smaller aircraft and retired aircraft from the
national and global airline industry are used for regional flights.

As major airlines go bankrupt, opportunities to take over the flights and collect on that revenue that
was going to the majors can be realized for Sky West. It can go global. External threats include rising
fuel costs, and limited domestic opportunities.
7. The company s future is promising. Revenues are increasing and its load factor is improving.
Operating expenses are decreasing and compared to other regional airlines, SkyWest offers better
benefits and compensation packages. It is performing efficiently; more so as each year passes.
8. SkyWest, Inc. must seek global markets to enter that allow joint ventures and potential for growth to
strengthen the company s competitive position. I would recommend the management stay on top of
technological advances in aircraft and purchase fuel efficient jets to lower fuel costs. Also, a plan to
consolidate ASA offices with the offices of SkyWest would cut down operating costs.
Dennis Marriott
2. Five Forces Analysis for SkyWest.
Threat of New Entrants. The threat of new entrants is not a strong threat for SkyWest, Inc. because of
its control of distribution channels is high (i.e. service contracts with major airlines), its proprietary
knowledge is high as the company is an established company with experience in the industry, and
capital requirements are high.
Power of Buyers. The power of buyers is relatively

Ulysses As A Hero In The Adventures Of Ulysses
A hero is always described as one who stands for the common good of people, whether it be an
archetype of a typical hero from fabled descend or those who are unexpectedly deemed a hero in
everyday lives. Bernard Evslin s adventure fiction, The Adventures of Ulysses, illustrates the life of
Ulysses ten years after fighting alongside the Greeks in the Trojan War. He encounters trials and
tribulations such as, unknown seas and numerous inconceivable monsters to hopefully return to his
rightful place as king of Ithaca. Some of his trials take place on the islands of Lotusland, Aeaea, and a
narrow strait to Thrinacia. On Lotusland, Ulysses is met with an inescapable urge to sleep because
Morpheus, the son of Hypnos and nephew of Hades, orders the natives to feed Ulysses and his crew
intoxicating flowers to make them fall into a deep slumber. Ulysses also finds himself with a challenge
on the island of Aeaea because of Circe, an enticing goddess sorceress who turns any man into an
animal. He also comes across the Sirens, bird like women who lure sailors to shipwreck with their
enchanting sounds of happiness, sadness, autumn, and silence, on his way to Thrinacia. Ulysses is a
hero because he possesses the essential characteristics of a typical hero. He proves and displays his
heroic traits of strength, intelligence, and selflessness. Obviously, Ulysses vanquishes an ordeal that
no ordinary man can triumph. When battling forces beyond his control, Ulysses displays heroic

Food, People Will Die
Without food, people will die. Either they do not have the means to buy food or they live in a place
where food and vegetation are scarce and not readily available to the public. In any case, food remains
a necessity all living creatures must have. Thanks to modern technology and advancements in all
fields of agricultural business (agri business), the availability of food has increased tremendously.
Modern farmers put in the same amount of work and effort for twice the reward. Wendell Berry, a man
who grew up during the transition of old farming style and new farming style, noticed the transition
from mules to tractors and the efficiency that came with the switch. Berry wrote an article titled
Renewing Husbandry ; in his article, Berry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those people who live in these conditions can have better diets and live healthier because of agri
business. The transformation from traditional farming to agri business became rapidly accepted by all
types of farmers because of the mass benefits agri business provides. Berry noticed this transformation
by stating, This transformation occurred with astonishing speed because, by the measures it set for
itself, it was wonderfully successful. It saved labor (Berry, 2005, para. 4). This transformation
increased the speed of farms. This means the increased speed also decreased the work effort; which
allows farmers to do twice as much work without increasing the effort. The transition from traditional
farming to agri business has increased the production load to where agri business can support the
needs of the world.
Agri business fulfills the needs of the world. Farmers can mass produce their products in a timely
manner, granting them the ability to provide food for the world. With every year, agri business grows
to keep up with the demand. Berry stated; [T]he tractor would stay and the mules would go. Year after
year, agriculture would be adopted more and more to the technology and the processes of industry and
to the rule of industrial economics (Berry, 2005, para. 4). The world constantly changes and adapts.
Agri business changes and adapts to the changes of the world because the main goal of agri business is
to provide food for the world for people to

  • 2. Panera Case Study In 1976, Au Bon Pain ( where good bread is ) Bakery was opened as a response to the request for a conceptional fast casual restaurant. Ronald Shaich and Louis Kane merged their business, Cookie Jar Bakery and Aub Bon Pain Bakery, together after a period of debt to create Au Bon Pain Co. Inc. In 1985, the two decided to add fresh made sandwiches to their menu after noticing that their customers were buying their fresh baked bread in order to capitalize on their profit. As of September 25, 2012, they have over 1,600 locations in over 44 states and Canada. More than 776 of its locations are company operated, while the rest are run by franchisees. Its locations operate under the names Panera Bread, Saint Louis Bread Company, and Paradise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their primary marketing objective is to strategize menu development in order to grow customer base. In the case, it is indicated that Panera manufactures its own fresh dough; which is not only produced, but also delivered daily all over the country. Management at Panera views this as a competitive advantage rather than viewing it as a costly process. Also, due to the rising cost of ingredients due to the current economy, it is likely that Panera s menu pricing will experience a rise and possible item substitution or replacement. I have personally already experienced this. The price of ingredients greatly affects the menu pricing. In order for there to be an effective analysis of their cost, more information is required on the cost of producing the items listed on Panera s menu. It would be suggested that Panera should evaluate ways to offer lower prices on their food without having a major financial impact on the company s profit margin. Panera s total system wide revenues rose from $350.8 million in 2000 to over $1,558.5 million in 2012. The share price has increased from $3.88 a share on December 31, 1999 to $160.17 a share on January 30, 2012 at 11:41 AM EST. • 3. The Pros of Employment for Ex-Cons Essay The Pros of Employment for Ex Cons In the last thirty years the crime rate in the United States has decreased, but the number of people incarcerated has increased because longer minimum sentences and stricter requirements for parole have been established. Offenders serve longer prison sentences that lead to a variety of employment related barriers to overcome after release (Bracey 253). In the State of Nebraska, ex offenders find little help when searching for employment. On the Department of Correction s website, the mission statement reads, The mission of the Department of Correctional Services is to serve and protect the public by providing control, humane care, and program opportunities for those individuals placed in its custody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employment, or lack there of, is said to be one of the top two factors in recidivism (Agan Mencl; Pannkuk). Recidivism has become a nationwide problem, and many are looking for ways to reduce its rate (Bracey 253). Ex offenders have a hard time finding long standing, good paying employment because of the barriers they face. One of those barriers is a lack of skills needed to gain employment (Holzer, Raphael, and Stoll 4 5). Many offenders are both undereducated and unemployed when they enter prison, and while in prison, often fail to gain adequate education or skills because there are no resources offered to acquire these skills (Smith). Also, employers fear hiring ex offenders because of their criminal past. John Rakis, who wrote, Improving the Employment Rates of Ex Prisoners Under Parole, says many employers have a prejudice, against hiring an ex offender (Rakis 8). Along with employers being wary of a criminal past, ex offenders also have large gaps in their employment history, as a result of the time served in prison. These gaps cause ex offenders to appear as undependable employees, and employers become hesitant of hiring the ex offenders (Bracey 253). Richard Coley and Paul Barton, who jointly wrote, Locked up and Locked out: An Educational Perspective on the U.S. Prison Population, say, Employers value experience and continuity of work history (Coley and Barton 30). • 4. Why Overpopulation Is The Problem Research physicist for the American Center for International Policy Studies, Gioietta Kuo, in her article Mega Crisis? Overpopulation is the Problem describes the possibility of a global mega crisis, a perfect storm of political, economic, and environmental instability resulting from overpopulation and leading to the extinction of mankind (Kuo, 23). The purpose of Kuo s article is to stress the fact that overpopulation has been over looked as the source of many of the problems afflicting the world today, including climate change, food and water scarcity, environmental degradation, as well as other economic and social effects like unemployment. She adopts logos, ethos, and pathos as well as an urgent tone in order to persuade the United Nations, government officials, and the general public to acknowledge the fact the current high population is the main cause of the problems affecting the world today and also to stress that the unchecked population growth will lead to a mega crisis. Kuo was spurred into writing this article by two events, the first was the publishing of an article titled Global MegaCrisis: Four Scenarios, Two perspectives by William Halal and Michael Marien in May June 2011. The articled also discussed the impending mega crisis but according to Kuo it failed to include the one evil that is the mother of all others: world overpopulation (Kuo, 23). With this statement she hopes to invoke the feeling of urgency and create awareness of the ignored source ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When conducting the research for my survey, I will be studying the political preference of people in correlation to the political preference of the town they grew up in. For example, a person is more likely to be a Republican if they originate from a Republican dominated town. The independent variable, the variable whose variation does not depend on the other, that will be studied is political preference of the participant: Republican, Democratic or Independent. A person s political preference can have many conceptual definitions. It can mean the person lives a certain lifestyle, or they have views on policy and how the government should run. It can also determine stereotypical characters as about the person themselves. Moreover, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Please choose how strongly you agree with the statement: My parents imposed Republican values on me throughout my childhood. 1 = Extremely Disagree, 2 = Disagree, 3 = Neutral, 4 = Agree, 5 = Agree. The hypothesis of this study is people are more likely to be a specific political party depending on the majority of the political preference of the participant s hometown. There is a positive relationship between the two variables of the person s political preference and their hometown s political preference. This type of research and survey has drawn a lot of attention from the media with the current 2016 Presidential Election between now President Donald J. Trump and Senator Hillary Clinton. This election had a much stronger impact on the population of the United States both mentally and emotionally. Through general knowledge and evidence, the media made an abundant amount of traction on how numerous statisticians and pollers predicted Clinton to win the election by a landslide. In the end, they were wrong as Trump won the presidency. It is important to understanding how to determine if someone is a Republican or Democratic and their voting patterns to correctly predict future outcomes of elections. Similarly, I have predicted this proposed hypothesis based on the assumption that children gain traits like their parents. If parents impose political beliefs, it could affect the child and what they grow up to believe. Certain traits and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Work Memory Analysis Introduction The working memory aids our ability to remember words over non words, specifically the phonological loop and visuospatial sketchpad (Baddeley, Hitch, 1994). Other studies by (Paivio, 1991) have shown that concrete words are easier to recall than abstract words due to semantic associations. The purpose of this paper is to explore the parts of memory that help certain words to be more easily remembered than others. Memory is the system that enables us to learn skills and gain information through sensory memory and short term storage. It is also the process that allows us to retrieve this information from long term storage (Baddeley, 1974). Being able to create a new memory, put that memory away in storage, and bring it back when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They proposed the phonological loop had evolved for language acquisition and storage. Also their study found that the ability to pronounce a word places it in phonological storage, allowing you to recall the memory quicker (Baddeley, 1994). The phonological loop has been found to be a workspace for verbal information (Baddeley, 1994). Other studies have also found that the phonological loop works to process auditory information as well (Reisberg, 2013). The visuospatial sketchpad, (Baddeley, 1994) was used to recall a visual object. In the visuospatial sketchpad images are placed on different spatial maps, which then tied together with the spatial workspace on the visuospatial sketchpad. The decision maker of working memory is the central executive. It decides which memories are retrieved, what information you should focus on, how important the information is, and how to attain goals (Riesberg, 2013). Without the central executive, our thoughts and actions would be unorganized in our working memory (Riesberg, 2013). In order to reduce the workload of the central executive, and allow it to focus towards important tasks, the episodic buffer works to store the information gathered from the visuospatial sketchpad and phonological loop (Baddeley, 1974). These models of memory show us how it is organized and operates, and there are other models of memory that go into how memory aids our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

George Washington s Victory At Trenton With the shot heard round the world at Lexington and Concord, the American colonies were on a collision course with one of the most powerful empires of that day. One key, pivot point of the conflict known as the American Revolutionary War was GEN George Washington s victory at Trenton, New Jersey on December 26, 1776. However, GEN Washington s victory might not have been possible without the help of some timely intelligence, both for the American side, as well as intelligence blunders by the British forces defending Trenton. Standard Deduction Introduction Standard deduction is a provision of the United States federal income tax system, which serves two purposes including a least amount amount of untaxed income, thus acting as an ingredient of progressivity. Second, it provides a simplified alternative to the itemized deductions for tax payers with comparatively low itemizable expenses, thus relieving them of the record keeping and computational burden of itemizing deductions. Having one provision is a compromise to other but it is a compromise that is unnecessary. (Samansky, 1991) A base sum of income that is not focused to tax and that can be used to decrease a taxpayer s adjusted gross income (AGI), a standard deduction can only be used if the taxpayer does not prefer the itemized deduction method of calculating taxable income. The sum of the standard deduction is based on a taxpayer s filing status, age and whether he or she is disabled or claimed as a reliant on another person s tax return. The major reason taxpayers exercise standard instead of itemized deductions is that taxpayers don t have to keep track of every potential tax deductible expense throughout the year. Main Stakeholders Of The Ginsters Company 1.0 Introduction In this assignment I will be discussing the main topic stakeholder theory, what it means to a company and how it relates to the Ginsters Company. I will also be writing about the main stakeholders in the Ginsters Company and carrying out an analysis on the company s main stakeholders and how the company approaches the corporate social responsibility. 2.0 Stakeholder Theory John Kew and John Stredwick mention that Jonhson et all 2011 defines a stakeholder as those individuals or groups who depend on the organisation to fulfil their own goals and on who in turn the organisation depends. An organisation has external stakeholders and internal stakeholders. External stakeholders are individuals or groups outside the business who are linked to the organisation in some way but not directly these can be customers, shareholders, society, suppliers and the government. On the other hand are Internal Stakeholders, these stakeholders are individuals or groups who work directly inside the business. These are the employees, managers and owners of the company. Stakeholder theory looks at the relationships between an organization and others in its internal and external environment. It also looks at how these relationships affect how the organization conducts its activities. You can think of a stakeholder as a person or organization that can affect or be affected by your organization. Stakeholders can come from inside or outside of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Parents also can give you good advice on not worrying about boys or kids while being a teen and to focus on making good decisions by staying in school and having a good career for yourself. In the same way doctors, can also communicate with teenagers about what they can do to stay away from pregnancy. Doctors help teenagers by talking to them a showing them what can happen to them by having unprotected sex and its consequences. They explain to teens that having unprotected sex could leave them with a sexual transmitted disease or even a child that could mess their life up. The Providers can offer sexually active teens a broad range of contraceptive methods and encourage them to use the most effective methods (Best). Time came when she fought back with her tongue as best as she could, but it didn t do her any good. It just made Joe do more. He wanted her submission and he s keep on fighting until he felt he had it. (Hurston 71) (E) In this passage, Hurston effectively conveys the struggle of control and the roles of gender in a relationship. The dominating figure of the relationship is the man, Jody, who oppresses her and exercises his power over her in order to boost his social reputation and to retain the control in the relationship. Men are capable of proving their dominance by belittling and disrespecting women, who are deemed as the less stronger and more delicate ones in the relationship. These beliefs are held by Jody, as he deems women less intelligent than men, because they see ten things and don t understand one. Janie, opposing these traditional values set by their society, has a different viewpoint, believing that women can be smart and ambitious. As much as she challenges him and invalidates his arguments, Jody does not care about a fair argument, and he only retaliates further. In their relationship, her verbal fight is no match against his physical dominance over her, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to King H, in 2010 there were 12,180 newly diagnosed cases of the disease in the UK and 4,436 people also died from the disease. The Development And Analysis Of Microsatellite Dna Essay 10 THE DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS OF MICROSATELLITE DNA Summary Due to the significant negative impact of the industrial activities on the habitat, many species have become endangered. To conserve the species, a thorough investigation is needed. In this case, the research is based on the study the interdependencies between the genotype and spatial dispersal of populations. Despite being endangered, turtles comprise rather specific object for such investigations, as well as any other long lived organisms, because their reproduction cycles complicate the genetic investigations using conventional methods. That is why the novel DNA markers, microsatellites, were chosen for this research. Although the microsatellites are very informative and universal, the overall cost for research is higher than for RAPD and AFLP. This is mostly due to the cost of the fluorescent dye which is used in the PCR. To eliminate this, I will apply an interesting technique which allows for incorporation of the dye by the forward primer into the product of polymerization thus saving a considerable amount of the dye. Generally, I plan to base research on such steps: Studying the populations of Apalone spinifera and Apalone mutica based on available data; Taking samples of blood from the animals which are going to be caught by hand in their usual habitat. The sampling will occur in the least possible harmful way; Testing 12 pairs of primers initially developed for Apalone spinifera using the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Orwell was in fact a genius plain and simple, though in a very complicated way (Firchow 94). George Orwell brings you into his essay with lucid and vivid details the entire way starting from the setting, I remember that it was a cloudy, stuffy morning at the beginning of the rains, (25) to the characters attitudes towards one another, if a European woman went through the bazaars alone somebody would probably spit betel juice over her dress (23). The essay starts with the narrator, whom we assume is Orwell, a white man working as a sub divisional police officer in Moulmein, Burma where the British have a colonized. Being English, the narrator Orwell is hated by many of the natives, When a nimble Burman tripped me up on the football field and the referee (another Burman) looked the other way, the crowd yelled with hideous laughter (Orwell 23). One morning, Orwell receives a call about an elephant ram sacking the town and even killing a native Burman. Out of the four readings of the week, Writing by Omission was by far the most insightful. McPhee uses his own tribulations as a writer in the industry to illustrate his notion that writing is selection. Every word, paragraph, and chapter must be selected amongst a great arc of potentialities available to the writer, and it is the author s grand task to carefully choose the most appropriate next piece. McPhee recounts his time trying to select the best words to be left behind from his manuscripts and what should be restored and what shouldn t be. The idea of greening a paper comes from his work at Time, where the articles had to fit a specified number of lines. The authors were told to Green 5, and had no choice but to comply by removing five entire lines from their work. The practice, McPhee argues, forces the writer to make the most out of what they have and how making a piece tighter and more restricted enhances its appeal. One way to leverage big data is through proactive intelligence. By combining multiple data streams into an analytical framework, service providers can understand patterns, behaviors, and service characteristics in exciting new ways, and build automated response solutions that head off problems before they occur. A perfect application of this is proactive customer service. You treat them like little princes and princesses...and by the time they get to college and are asked who their hero is, your child will cay those words you long to hear: My dad. My mom (Carroll 32). One of many reasons why helicopter parenting is a downfall is because students with over protective parents tend to lack self reliance and independence once they are on their own. Beethoven Concert Symphony No 6 BEETHOVEN CONCERTS The Pastorale Symphony and the Emperor Piano Concerto, one named by Ludwig van Beethoven and the other by a friend, are splendid examples of Beethoven s musical acumen. These pieces are more formally known as Beethoven s Symphony No. 6 and Piano Concerto No. 5. This concert report will cover both pieces and will contain my impressions of each piece. Symphony No. 6 Pastorale was performed by the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and was conducted by Paavo Jarvi during their Beethoven series. The five movements of Beethoven s Symphony No. 6 Pastorale draw listeners in with a quick, but leisurely tempo and rich developed movements. The symphony seemingly flows and fits the titles beautifully. It is easy to paint a picture of a noble countryside, nature, and all the activities it entails. Beethoven s Piano Concerto No.5 Emperor is a three part traditional concerto, an Allegro, Adagio, and the Rondo. This concerto was named Emperor because of the powerful themes and heroic note of the composition (www.all about beethoven.com/concerto5.html). The opening of the concerto brings a main theme introduced by a solo piano with the full orchestra providing a dramatic presence of several chords. The piano flourishes grow in length until reaching a cadenza after the third time. The full orchestra joins in and carries the theme into the full exposition. The theme is bold with a pleasant interjection of a second subject that seems to tiptoe through the movement. The orchestra stays in the tonic key as the piano modulates and reaches a wide variety of tones as the scales are worked. The development of the movement effectively flips the lead. The orchestra now leads and the piano accompanies. The main theme rhythm is reinforced by a powerful bassoon. The coda is lead by horns and joined by the rest of the orchestra to a thrilling close. • 38. Why We Need The Military We must never forget why we have, and why we need our military. Our armed forces exist solely to ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night, knowing we have guardians at the gate, said Allen West,a retired Army lieutenant colonel and a former member of the House of Representatives. He explained America s need for a strong military perfectly in this quote. The United States depends on their military to protect them from all different kinds of threats like cyber warfare or terrorist attacks. In order to see why an increase in military spending is needed, one must look at the damaged equipment, the need for new and improved equipment and then look at what it would take to defeat ISIS. After the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the amount of damaged equipment was immense. The Army and the Marine Corps lost about 40 percent of their ground equipment from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The military still needs to replace some of the damaged equipment from the end of the Iraq war in 2011. The answer to this controversial question lies in the meaning of peaceful protest and application of this definition. Civil disobedience, or a peaceful protest, is the orderly and nonviolent purposeful violation of laws in order to change a law or governing system. This practice has been used to change the opinion of the citizens or the government. So when I got his text it started to turn the night around. I was eager for him to open his gift from me. Also to see what he had snatched up for me. As I was putting my last resident in to bed at work as I did every night as a certified nurses aide at Elm Haven East. I felt my cell phone vibrate in my pocket, instead of looking to see who it was from I finished doing what I need to do in order to help this lady into bed. When I was done I finally looked at my phone to see why it had vibrated. Much to my surprise my boyfriend Tate had texted me, asking if I wanted to come over after work to open Christmas presents with him and his mom Penny. Happy now that I would actually get to see him before Christmas I eagerly replied, Yes, I would love too. See you after work . I finished up work before clocking out. As I punched my time card I smiled with joy, knowing shortly Tate would be opening his present I was so proud I had bought. I stepped out side to walk to my car, I saw a white cloud coming out of my mouth as I breathed from the cold, crisp air. I pulled into his drive way nervous to walk inside. I walked inside, my hands full of presents. I started through the house to the living room. Penny couldn t help but have a huge smile on her face which made me even more nervous. Penny never smiled like that. Why was she smiling now? There I stood in the living room. Penny excitedly told Tate to go get all the presents from them out from under the tree. While he was gone Penny asked me Are you excited to open your presents? . The question made my palms sweaty, I hate surprises so opening presents was defiantly my least favorite thing to do at Christmas time. After ten recitations, we were assign a group project that demonstrated the knowledge we had gained throughout the entirety of the course. Although we had the option to choose from the following three detention circuits: a resistor thermistor voltage divider circuit, a phototransistor resistor voltage divider circuit, or a standard PC microphone driving the audioInput of the myDAQ, my group opted out towards the PC microphone detention circuit. Within the PC microphone detention circuit, the microphone should have been able to detect three different states of noise. The first state consists of the microphone detecting no noise, the second state consists of the microphone detecting the presence of some noise, and the third state consists of the microphone detecting a louder noise than usual. The Implementation of Hardware and Software For this project we used a smartphone and the myDAQ in order to make a detection circuit that could detect no noise, low noise, and high noise. Unfortunately, this type of facility is just not commercially viable. Although individual countries have implemented laws regarding computer crimes, these laws do not affect offenders outside of that sovereign state. International legislation must ensure security for all parties involved. Bernard Evslin s adventure fiction, The Adventures of Ulysses, illustrates the life of Ulysses ten years after fighting alongside the Greeks in the Trojan War. He encounters trials and tribulations such as, unknown seas and numerous inconceivable monsters to hopefully return to his rightful place as king of Ithaca. Some of his trials take place on the islands of Lotusland, Aeaea, and a narrow strait to Thrinacia. On Lotusland, Ulysses is met with an inescapable urge to sleep because Morpheus, the son of Hypnos and nephew of Hades, orders the natives to feed Ulysses and his crew intoxicating flowers to make them fall into a deep slumber. Ulysses also finds himself with a challenge on the island of Aeaea because of Circe, an enticing goddess sorceress who turns any man into an animal.
