The Great Canadian Real Estate Crash Of 2013
Toronto is the largest condominium market in North America followed by Montreal, Calgary, and
Vancouver along with Halifax and St. Johns. Up until 2013 the market had been growing and
especially booming in Toronto. In 2013 this high condominium purchasing rate attracted the attention
of the Bank of Canada, and the question was posed whether satisfying this high demand, including
from foreigner s side, was a good thing for the market. Following that, the banks became more
cautious when lending funds for construction or to purchase a unit. Low interest rates were believed to
be favouring the booming demand. An increase in interest rates was believed to be a serious threat,
however the probability of that happening was perceived as low in ... Show more content on

The upward trend in condominiums ownership by individuals is seen in the numbers: in 1971 only 5%
of all condominiums were occupied by private owners, whereas in 2001 this number reached 19%. In
the same year two of every three apartments formed part of a condo. In 2001 condominiums
accounted for 8% of all real estate in metropolitan cities, while they were only 1% of all real estate in
smaller cities or in rural areas. There was a difference between the major metropolitan centers. Almost
one fifth of privately owned real estate in Vancouver in 2001 were condominiums, 70% of which were
apartments. In Quebec City and Montreal this number was 80%, whereas it was 50% in such cities as
Edmonton, Calgary, and Ottawa dominated by row houses (Canada Mortgage and Housing
Corporation, 2004).
Immigration, Migration and Population
Search for employment within a province and nationwide had led to an increase in migration within
Canada, both intra and inter provincially. External immigration increased too and the difference
between external immigration and emigration abroad was estimated to reach roughly 316 thousand
people in 2013. Such population growth may be a positive trend for the real estate market, yet it is
seen by some a threat to economy fuelled by potentially rising unemployment (PWC, 2013). In 2013,
migration patterns were benefiting Calgary at a higher than average national rate: 1.9% vs. 1.4%
increase in population. Still, the popular belief

H1n1 Influenza Pandemics
How has the Federal Government dealt with pandemic Influenza outbreaks in the past? In previous
years, there have been many outbreaks of the influenza virus in many different strains. These
outbreaks have occurred all over the world, ranging from the worst Influenza outbreak in history, the
Spanish Flu of 1918, to the first Influenza outbreaks of the 21st century, the Swine Flu waves of 2009
and 2010. In the United States, the federal government works closely with the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, the CDC, and the World Health Organization, the WHO, to track seasonal

begin at an unknown location somewhere in China. In both cases, the outbreaks spread quickly and
consistently to go on and affect India, Iran, Australia, North America, and Russia. Between both
instances of these pandemics, roughly sixty thousand deaths were recorded.

Why Adoptees Deserve To Adopt
Imagine growing up not knowing who your parents are, or if they re even alive. Adoptees can start to
feel like they re not good enough for their birth parents. Adoptees deserve to have access to their birth
records because if they don t, it can cause them a lot of pain, make them feel rejected by their birth
parents, and could even make them feel shame or guilt about being adopted. Adoptees feel pain from
being adopted because they can feel like their birth parents abandoned them and don t want anything
to do with them. And the feeling that you have parents that you don t even know exist can make them
feel alone and depressed. There is no set time or age when these feeling surface but, sooner or later,

Health Benefits And The Business Aspects Of The Beloved...
Coffee
My topic of choice is coffee. I personally drink a large amount of it everyday. I spent a lot of time
trying to figure out what I wanted my topic to be. Coffee is something I enjoy everyday and am
curiosity about. At one time I wanted to open my own coffee shop. That dream is dead, but I still
enjoy the beverage, often in a hip, public place surrounded by friends. I believe this topic will keep me
focused and interested and enlighten me on current arguments and facts. I am interested in the health
benefits and the business aspects of the beloved brew. I had an intention at one time of pursuing
nutrition as a degree, so health information intrigues me. Currently, I am considering business as a
degree plan. Researching the business aspect may help prepare me for that future and give me a
glimpse at what business entails. On a humorous note, I know I will need large doses of caffeine to
make it through my college career, so I would like to know my limits.
I have read many times over the last few years that coffee is good for you. Others tell me often that it
is not, to which I tell them it is, based on material I have read, but not researched. I do not recall much
material stating that it is bad, but I know it is out there. Part of my research paper will be in pursuit of
finding the facts about the health benefits and harms of the brew. From my limited reading in the past,
I have learned that it naturally contains antioxidants that fight free radicals in your body,

Crime Prevention Programs Juvenile Delinquency
Crime is the one constant thing in our country that will always be around. For decades we have
enhanced our technology, changed our laws, put away criminals, but crime still, and will always exist.
Crime prevention programs are put into place to help prevent juveniles and adults from continuing to
go down a road of destruction and crime and hopefully lower the number of crimes committed each
day. These programs have been put in place not only to help the criminal, but to help society.
Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk, and the initiation of
action to remove or reduce it. Crime Prevention is an active approach utilizing public awareness and
preventive measures to reduce crime (New York State Police,2015). Preventing crime is one of the
biggest goals in the criminal justice system. It all starts at the lowest level which is preventing crime
with juvenile delinquency. Juvenile Delinquency is one of the biggest problems that today s criminal
justice system faces. In 1899, Cook County, Illinois, set up the country s first juvenile court. Today,
every state has a separate court system for juveniles (Roberts,2015,p.1). Juveniles are treated
differently than an adult when it comes to the courtroom. Children used to be

Civil Rights Act Pros And Cons
Civil Rights Act Following violent demonstrations in Birmingham in 1963, President John F. Kennedy
proposed the Civil Rights Bill (Marsh, 2004). The president took the step as a measure to end the
negative publicity against authorities for using excessive force against protesters. The Civil Rights Act
was signed into law by Kennedy s successor in 1964. The Act was a major victory as it introduced
reforms that undermined the system of racial segregation. It outlawed racial discrimination in voting,
employment, and public service. It also authorized the federal government to take measures to prevent
racial discrimination. The Civil Rights Act was a controversial law given the nature of US politics at
the time (Landau, 2008). The three arms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The timeline of the Civil Rights Movement shows that it started gaining momentum after the ruling,
even though the concerns over racial inequality had existed for a long time. The civil activists used the
ruling as the legal basis for demanding for more concession by the state and local governments
advancing the system of racial segregation. The Rosa Parks incident was one of the immediate
reactions to the ruling. Rosa Park set the stage for civil disobedience and protests against racial
discrimination. The coalition with other social movements gave the Civil Rights Movement more
influence in the calls for change. Religious organizations joined the movement on the view that racial
discrimination was immoral. The Black Power Movement joined on the view that racial
discrimination was against human rights. The coalition brought more supporters to the rights

Explain The Four Temperaments
 The four temperaments categorises personality into four types: sanguine, choleric, melancholic and
phlegmatic.  Four temperaments is a proto psychological theory that believes that individuals are
one of the four personality types.  In Ancient Greece, these four temperaments are linked to the four
body humors (blood, yellow bile, black bile and phlegm). These four humors are also believed to be
linked with the four elements (air, fire, earth and water).  It was theorised that an unproportioned
amount of these fluids resulted in sickness and disease. A well balanced amount of all the humors
resulted in a healthy body and mind. Disproportion of one of the four humor fluids determined the
personality type of the individual.  Humoral theory

Defining key words. A nurse is a person who has completed a program of basic, generalised nursing
education and is authorised by the appropriate regulatory authority to practice nursing in his/ her
country. (ICN, 1987). According to others, the nurse is a professional caregiver who is able to deliver
nursing as a therapy in its own right. (Antrobus, 1993). Nursing on its own as defined by the American
Nurses Association is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of

Equity Plays An Important Role For The Common Law
Equity plays an important role in the common law which will be explained in this essay. It s
foundational principles derive from philosophy and ethics as well as from political and religious
background. To understand specific nature and extent it operates in the modern world it would be
necessary to look how it developed over the centuries in the UK.
In the 13th century s England, the common law courts operated through the Court of Common Pleas
and the King s Bench and could only offer a limited range of remedies, predominantly monetary
damages, becoming inflexible and very strict. This was due to a closed categories of available writs,
therefore many judgments were regarded as unfair. As a result people became dissatisfied with the
system and started petitioning the king for a more suitable remedies. With increasing number of
petitions the king began to delegate the function of resolving such petitions to the Chancellor. The
chancellors were often clergymen, king s confessors and keepers of the king s conscience, which
shaped the character of equity. They developed new, more appropriate remedies for the cases based on
individual justice. However, each chancellor had different understanding of fairness giving an overall
impression of uncertainty and inconsistency in law. With even more increase of petitions, new court
has been created known as the Court of Chancery. With the time, the growing of equity started to
create conflicts with common law system, as individuals relied

Social Classes During The Elizabethan Era Essay
The Social Classes During the Elizabethan Era
Imagine being born into the Elizabethan Era where your social class is already determined for you and
you cannot switch classes ever. This is the case during the Shakespearean era. There were six total
social classes of Elizabethan England. The social class system listed in order from highest to lowest is;
Monarch, Nobility, Gentry, Merchants, Yeomanry, and Laborers. Depending on which class you were
in this would affect your living conditions, authority, wealth, work, lifestyle and religion. There were
also many cultural differences among the social classes during Elizabethan times.
The wealthiest social class during the Elizabethan era was the Monarch. Queen Elizabeth was at the
top of the social pyramid (BBC). Queen Elizabeth was considered to be at the top of the social
pyramid because she had the most power and authority. The queen and king had a lot of power over
the people; for example, they can make the decision to switch social classes for certain people of their
choosing (Sharnette). The monarch class had a lot of money and did not have to work because they
had enough money to hire people to do work for them. They typically hired nobles and a few people
from the Gentry class. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In comparison with the movie, directed by Terrence Malick, The Thin Red Line and the book, written

worlds that are completely alien and unfamiliar to them. With stress levels above what normal
civilians will most likely ever experience, the soldiers in both worlds have to find things to occupy

How Partitioning Clustering Technique For Implementing...
ABSTRACT : Due to the huge growth and expansion of the World Wide Web, a large amount of
information is available online. Through Search engines we can easily access this information with the
help of Search engine indexing. To facilitate fast and accurate information retrieval search engine
indexing collects, parses, and store data. This paper explains partitioning clustering technique for
implementing indexing phase of search engine. Clustering techniques are widely used for grouping a
set of objects in such a way that objects in the same group are more to each other than to those in other
groups in Web Usage Mining . Clustering methods are largely divided into two groups: hierarchical
and partitioning methods. This paper proposes the k mean partitioning method of clustering and also
provide a comparison of k mean clustering and Single link HAC . Performance of these clustering
techniques are compared according to the execution time based on no of clusters and no of data items
being entered. Keyword:Indexing,Data mining, clustering k Means Clustering, Single Link HAC I.
INTRODUCTION Keeping in mind the end goal to encourage quick and precise data recovery, Search

The Conscription Crisis Of World War One
A famous quote by Canadian Prime Minister, Mackenzie King, in World War Two is, Conscription if
necessary, but not necessarily conscription (Persico, 199). The conscription crisis during World War
One and World War Two had a negative effect on Canadian society. First of all, the Conscription
Crisis of World War One, taking place between 1917 and 1918, introduced many important events for
Canadian history. Furthermore, in World War Two, conscription is established yet again between 1944
and 1945. This reintroduction of conscription took place for many reasons, and led to a negative
impact throughout Canada. Lastly, many people attempted to prevent conscription, such as Prime
Minister McKenzie King. Therefore the conscription crisis of World War One had a negative effect on
Canada. Conscription was initially created during The Great War, also known as World War One, by
Canada s Prime Minister Robert Borden. Robert Borden introduced the Conscription Bill, also known
as the Military Service Act. Canada introduced Conscription for many reasons, but mainly due to the
lack of volunteers. Casualties were rising and fewer men were volunteering for a sure death in no man
s land (Perisco, 198). By the beginning of October 1914, 30,000 Canadians volunteered for war.
However, enlistments fell and the number dropped drastically when men began to recognize the
number of casualties caused by battle. Families were unwilling to sacrifice their men and Canada
could see that battle field

The Importance Of A Time For A Person s Day
There are many tasks and responsibilities that can arise in a person s day. In particular, juggling
family, work, and school which is a very difficult and tiring task. Being disorganized can lead to a
chaotic and stressful day. Using a time chart is useful and beneficial it can help you stay organized and
keep daily activities more manageable. The first step to balancing my studies and family is to use a
time chart. The time chart helps to keep my tasks in order and completed on time. It is helpful in
reminding me about upcoming appointments whether it is at school or work, not to mention the other
unexpected events that can also happen to make you forget what you were doing. Most of all, my time
chart helps me look forward to taking breaks that I longed for after a long day s work. Even with a
huge workload a time chart can help keep your to do list up to date, it helps you concentrate on one
task at a time, and it helps you prioritize what needs to be done first. It is important to schedule your
day the night before or when first arising. The first step I take to scheduling is to writing down my
daily duties. Then find out what appointment I have pending. Next, I rearrange and organize to fit my
schedule. This will keep duties in order and also help me find what is the most important daily
activities. Do not forget to review the chart after completion; this is very crucial. This time chart lays
out a step by step approach to the day. It also helps to remind me how long I

Alexander Fleming Penicillin
Beyond the images of child labor and intense impoverishment that lingered around the 1920s, an era
of antibiotics emerged. Sir Alexander Fleming, a bacteriologist from London, created a medicine that
pioneered the path for growth in the medical field, penicillin. His discovery of the revolutionizing
drug was nothing more than by chance.
Fleming was a captain of the Royal Army Medical Corps, in addition to his medical background.
During his wartime experiences, when having to treat soldiers with terminal sepsis, it fueled his desire
to find any cure to this nuisance (unknowingly creating a drug that will save millions). Sir Fleming s
first encounter with the antibiotic occurred when, returning from a vacation (Grimsley 1). Ironic to the

sponsoring the exploration of penicillin, they wouldn t have discovered one major roadblock; the

efforts became futile and, inevitably, the War Production Board withdrew their support in favor for
another medicine. Miraculously, scientists at the Peoria labs created an effective way to grow
Penicillium in mass, solving their dilemma. Called the Deep Fermentation method, it consisted of
large drums growing the Penicillium mold, which is constantly being, agitated and aerated (Grimsley
2). Following its success in mass production, the military became one of its major contributors. Pilot
studies, an army field of education, persuaded the U.S. Army to purchase 150 million units per weeks
for hospital use, as a result, penicillin saw its usefulness in everyday war, more notably, the Norway
landing of June 1944 (Grimsley 2). It goes to show, with the ability to mass produce penicillin,

Competitive Advantage (HBS 798 062) discusses, it is often useful to analyze a company s cost
position relative to its rivals and to examine the willingness of customers to pay for the company s
products relative to competitors . The case allows you to analyze the relative costs of Airborne
Express in detail. Specifically, compare the costs of an overnight letter shipped by Airborne Express to
one shipped by Federal Express. The case does not allow you to compare willingness to pay across
companies more than qualitatively, but it does permit you to examine relative prices. To examine

adventures have one common thread. My brother. When he was born the doctor said he would never
walk, talk, or read. Receiving this news broke my parents hearts. Even with this disastrous news they
set out to prove him wrong. They decided that they would provide him with every opportunity to
strive. By the time I was born, four years later, he could walk and talk like any other child and he still
continues to learn new skills to this day. When I was first born, my brother called me baby girl
because he was not able to pronounce my name. Wherever I was, that was where he was. I was his
favorite person. He would spend hours just staring at me in my crib waiting for me to do something.
After I learned to talk my brother and I had our own secret language. Even though it was actually
poorly spoken English. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. My parents would complain that we
never made any sense, but we would laugh and play all day without a care in the world. As we grew

A Report On Pike River Mine Essay
Pike river mine was in a lot trouble and needed something to get rid of financial debts that had piled
up over the years. The mine was new and the owner, Pike River Coal Ltd, had not completed the
systems and infrastructure necessary to safely produce coal. It s health and safety systems were poorly
maintained and the ventilation and methane drainage systems weren t coping with everything the
company was trying to do for example, driving roadways through coal and drilling into the coal seam
and extracting coal by hydro mining, a method known to produce large quantities of methane. They
wanted to start a system called hydro mining . Hydro mining uses a high pressure jet of water to carve
coal from the surface or the coalface, which was found to be well suited to the coal seams of New
Zealand s West Coast. In 2008, he (Nishioka) was asked to draw up a plan for a hydro system at pike
river mine and to put forward a budget and price to supply most of the requirements as well as
equipment needed. When Masaoki Nishioka arrived at Pike River Mine he found he was in a situation
that was much worse than he had expected.
The mines core infrastructure wasn t ready for hydro mining to begin with because it was still reliant
on a small backup fan located at the top of the ventilation shaft and the main fan, which was the mines
source of ventilation, wasn t installed yet and there was no emergency exit. Also, the company had
purchased all of the hydro mining equipment from Australia,

Leitax Case Essay
How did the rapid maturing of the digital camera marketplace affect Leitax s supply chain challenges
and opportunities?
Improved technology and reduction in price made the digital camera industry grow rapidly and inject
life into a very stagnant sector. Worldwide sales growth rate for the digital cameras had double digit
growth for almost 15 years. However that growth was slowing and was starting to reverse from a
strong 25% in 2005 to a weak 5.2% in 2006 and into negative territory 2007 and beyond. This growth
masked the problems in Leitax s supply chain.
Other external factors magnifying Leitax s supply chain challenges was that digital camera technology

Define the core interests/incentives of key actors in the forecasting process and identify the most
pressing alignment needs/priorities among key actors?
The concept of demand forecasting more accurately measures and predicts the changes and
opportunities in the supply chain.
Based on the case, there were two fundamental changes to standardize and improve the accuracy of
forecasts. The first area was to switch the focus of the focus of the forecasting process from sell in to
sell through . This meant tracking closely what was sold in one region and shipped from another made
forecasting market demand a more accurate exercise. The second area centered on ignoring capacity
constraints to estimate demand. In the past, forecasting was affected by perceptions of present and
future supply chain capacity .
These forecasts were critical to the success of the company s refocused financial strategy. To
accomplish this, there was high priority and core interest to align the master production schedule
through the improvement of the demand planning process. This included the Redesign Project which
among other things focused on the implementation of a decision support system (DSS) to create a
more accurate MPS that can be published more frequently.
What was the critical mission and scope of work of the Forecast Re Design Team? What supply chain

Literary Analysis Of Migraine By Twenty One Pilots
Migraine
Migraine, while it s usually known as gloriously painful headache, ask a teenager and they will
presumably say it s a hit song from the Ohio based synthpop, rap rock, indie rock, and yes even
reggae, band Twenty One Pilots. Underneath the techno beat and flying piano notes, are lyrics with a
profound meaning. The excellent lyricist, Tyler Joseph, in a spit fire fashion, confronts many prevalent
feelings and struggles. Within the song, Tyler Joseph defends himself from his brain, that keeps
sending him depressing, and pessimistic thoughts. This song uses many allegories represented by
literal images. Migraine by Twenty One Pilots is a unique song that puts a voice to the battles of the
mind; it has a riveting theme, complex figurative imagery, and an intriguing syntax.
Furthermore, the theme of this song is Tyler s migraine, although it seems like a simple concept his
migraine is due to his overworking head. In the song, Tyler sings (Line 12) let it be said what this
headache represents it s me defending in suspense ...(Line 12) that s best represented by my
depressing thoughts (line 16), and something you won t forget its all about my forehead (line 32 ) it s a
door that holds back contents (line 33). He also sings in the introduction of the song; Am I the only
one I know(Line 1) waging my wars behind my face and above my throat. (Line 2 )If you know
anything about anatomy you will know he is referring to his brain. The overarching theme of this
catchy song is the battles of the brain, which of course manifest itself as a migraine.
Schizophrenic pop is what some people may label this duo; it makes sense for this song. The
figurative imagery bounces around everywhere. There is a significant amount geographical imagery
within this song, there is also a gigantic amount of literal imagery as well. All in all, there is a lot of
imagery of all sorts. Here are a few examples; (line 28) Pardon my yelling and telling you green
gardens!(line 28) are not what s growing in my psyche! (line 29), and behind my eyelids are islands of
violence. (line 35) My mind s shipwrecked it s the only island my mind could find. (line 36) I did not

Story Of An Hour s Story Of An Hour
The theme of Story Of An Hour I believe the book suggests that marriage, regardless of the good
intentions of the people it joins, necessarily results in repression and a loss of freedom. The story plays
with both irony and tragedy as the shock that her friends fear will kill Louise restores her freedom, and
the joy they anticipate for her is the heartbreak that kills her. The story focuses on the evils inherent in

The Veldt, By Ray Bradbury
When walking through a college campus in 2016, a person can see how much technology consumes a
peoples life. One can see people texting on their phones, riding on hover boards, and using iPads to
order food at a restaurant. What used to be inconceivable in the 1950s is now the norm 66 years later
The science fiction short story The Veldt, by Ray Bradbury, was written in the 1950s, yet gives the
reader perspective on the dangers of advancing technology as a prophecy of our future. In The Veldt,
the two parents, Lydia and George, are affluent and spoil their children, Peter and Wendy with
technology, which ultimately leads to the parents death. Using Lois Tyson s critical theory of
structuralism, this paper will give perspective on the science fiction aspect of the story described
through the setting.
While analyzing the story, the reader can get a sense of the family s wealth. They live in a lavish home

The Use Of Cross Symbols
The Cross
The cross is a symbol that has been used throughout the centuries as a symbol of the Christian
religion. There are 4 types of representation of the cross: the crux quadrata, the crux immissa, the crux
decussata. The crux quadrata is a Greek cross where the 4 arms are equal. The crux immissa is a Latin
cross where only 3 of the 4 arms are equal. Its stem is longer compared to the other arms. The crux
commissa has the shape of tau, a Greek letter and can also be referred to as St. Anthony s cross. Crux
decussata is named from the Roman symbol of the number 10 and is also referred to as St. Andrew s
cross. Long before the Christian Era, cross symbols were used but it s unclear if they were a
representation for belief and worship or if they were just marks.
Before the 4th century Christians were extremely conservative about displaying the cross because they
were vulnerable to being ridiculed and being in danger. During the 4th century when Constantine was
emperor, he eliminated crucifixion. During that time, crucifixion was used as a form of death penalty.
Emperor Constantine encouraged the use of the cross and they began popular in funeral monuments
and Christian art from c.350. Centuries after, the crosses had a representation of Christ. The
representation of Christ by the 9th century had become more realistic and portrayed agony, it showed
Christ with a crown of thorns. The crucifix is mostly for peoples own devotional use. During the 16th
century, Lutherans

Macomber are on an African safari with a man name Robert Wilson. Hemingway portrays Francis
Macomber as wealthy and beautiful, yet cowardly. Macomber s wife Margaret also young and

to get a shot off but only able to wound the lion before it runs away. As Wilson and Macomber search
for the wounded lion to finish it off, he inevitably runs away frightened for a second time. Hemingway
writes Macomber, was running; running wildly, in panic in the open, running toward the stream. As a
result of this instance, Macomber s wife takes a thriving interest in Wilson. Hemingway writes, Once

Macomber s wife sleeps with Wilson, which will completely change Macomber s persona for the rest

courageous. Finally, the conflict and the rising action of Hemingway s story leads to the climax. This
occurs when Wilson, Macomber, and his wife take their final journey into the wild. As a result of the
sheer anger Macomber has for Wilson and his wife, his fear is drowned by adrenaline. Macomber

Morality And Religion In The Stranger By Albert Camus
In The Stranger, author Albert Camus challenges societal beliefs related to morality and religion. The
main character, Meursault, does not experience emotion as the majority of society does. He is
seemingly unbothered by his mother s death, which many around him find disturbing. Meursault is
entertained by the simple things in life, and does not appear emotionally attached to much of anything.
His apathetic behavior is ultimately his downfall.
The story begins with Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know (3). The lines introduce
Meursault s key personality trait, his indifference. He simply states the facts and has little emotional
expression when talking about his mother s passing. At his mother s funeral, he felt others expected
him to talk and show emotion and it made him uncomfortable.
When he returns home to Algiers, Meursault carries on with life as normal. Over dinner one evening,
his neighbor Raymond tells of his desire to punish his mistress for infidelity, and asks Meursault to
write a letter to the mistress for him. Meursault agrees, saying I tried my best to please Raymond
because I didn t have any reason not to please him (32). While Raymond is a man of questionable
morals, he acts with purpose. Meursault, on the other hand, acts with mostly passive indifference,
doing things simply because he doesn t have a reason not to do them.
The next afternoon, Raymond calls Meursault at work and tells him about a group of Arabs following
him, and that

As Australians we live in an abundantly multicultural society. Walk out into a public area and you ll be

many of us that Australia as a nation is fairly accepting of racial difference and people from other
backgrounds. But much of the evidence seated clearly before us points to an entirely different
consensus. As human beings not one of us is born with prejudice or hate in our hearts. These values
are taught to us by our upbringing and experiences within the society we live in. Hate and prejudices
are instilled upon us by what we are accustomed to and our experience, but most often, what we are

I have little doubt that the vast majority of the Australian public does retain invariably good intentions
when it comes to the moral issue of discrimination; but sometimes, just to mean well just doesn t cut

often founded on the fear of difference, including differences in customs, values, religion, physical
appearance and ways of living and viewing the world. This includes negative attitudes towards the use
of different languages, foreign accents or the use of non standard variations of a dominant community

D Holbach Free Will Essay
The arguments presented by D Holbach and Hobart contain many of the same premises and opinions
regarding the human mind, but nonetheless differ in their conclusion on whether we have free will. In
this paper, I will explain how their individual interpretations of the meaning of free will resulted in
having contrary arguments.
Both philosophers begin by establishing that the soul, or self, is a reflection of the person that includes
their characteristics, motives, and traits. Therefore, when they consider an event of free will it is
perfectly acceptable to include the personality of the subject involved.
However, the critical point in where they differ is with their interpretation of what it means to have
free will. To D Holbach, this implies treating man as a free agent who s thoughts and actions and
independent from external causes. To him, this implies that man must have greater strength than the
entire of nature and results in a truly unnatural being. On the other hand, Hobart derives the meaning
of free will from the word freedom , and concludes that someone who has the power act freely has
free will. As a result, he concludes that a person has free will if there is an alternative action that they
have the power for, even if it is not taken. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Hobart, the cause is independent a person has free will if they can will either this or that in such a
way where if that event were to take place, they would be successful. On the other hand, D Holbach

would not be motivated to any other choice at the given time and does not have free will. Even though
they are like minded in their interpretation of the self, they still reached contrary conclusions due to
their separate definitions of free

Analysis Of The Book The Dark Streets
Urban fiction is a great genre, depending on the author you choose. Urban fiction is heavily associated

painting a picture of reality. Through the eyes of the author we get a firsthand take on the shocking
lifestyle that many people actually live. Thug Passion is the novel that I will be evaluating. Being that
author Mz. Lady P provides everything you need to have a great urban fiction story in this book. In
this essay I will explain how the grimy streets, along with the story line, and relatable characters make

grit, so nothing is held back while reading her attention grabbing books. She was born and raised in
Chicago, Illinois, and still currently resides there. A single parent, raising two boys, she knows exactly
what it s like to struggle and live in the hood. I appreciate the authenticity of her writing along with
her deep passion for writing, that is felt throughout the readings of her books. Urban fiction is a genre

quintessential anti hero who at times displays elements of traditional heroic qualities. Caulfield, a

Because of his cynicism and judgmental nature, Holden finds it difficult to make friends. This feeling

Are Genetically Modified Organisms
INTRODUCTION
When genetic engineering is done on an organism, it introduces new characteristics on the organism.
Organisms, that is plants and animal gene configuration can be changed using modern biotechnology.
When the genes in an organism are changed this basically called genetic modification. There are some
terms we need to know when we talk about genetic modification. What is a genetically modified
organism? This is a plant or animal which through new biotechnology techniques, its genetic
configuration has been changed. This has made changes in the ways organisms grow in a tremendous
way. Other names which can be used to mean the same as genetic modification are genetic

We can argue that, while not all genetically manipulated foods are safe, there are some which are safe
to use. Food and Drug Administration (2013) genetically modified food substances developers must

foods are very safe as they meet the safety requirements which are similar to those of foods which are

FOODS IN OUR LOCAL SUPERMARKETS WHICH ARE GENETICALLY MODIFIED
Several food substances in our supermarkets are as a result of genetic recombination. Maize is a good
example of those genetically engineered foods. When we take meat and milk, both are constituent of
genetic modification. This is true because feeding of this livestock uses genetically modified feeds to
improve the productivity of the animals. Poultry and poultry products also form part of the genetically

market have been approved by the food and drug Administration. This protects consumers from
harmful and toxic genetically manipulated food. In terms of fruits, some include apples, mangoes and

Example Of A Teen Activist
Definition of an activist: a person who campaigns to bring about political or social change. Teen
activists are teenagers who decided to fight for what was right, and instead of waiting for someone to
take action, they did it themselves. Teen activists do work that takes up a lot of courage, time, and
money. Teen activists don t always come in the same path, some succeeding, others failing. Teens
become activists through different experiences: having a personal struggle, they are inspired by an
animal s struggle, or they read an article somebody struggling.
To start, many teens become activists from having a personal struggle. For example, one of the teens
that became an activist after having a personal struggle was Alex Libby. Alex Libby was getting
bullied constantly after he decided he had enough. According to Katie Couric from ABC News, Alex
was having a really hard time at school. Katie asked Alex how life was like everyday at school for
him. Alex said he was punched, shoved, and mocked almost every time somebody got the chance, but
he just thought to go along with it and not tell anyone. This shows that Alex had a personal struggle
for many years of his life. Another example of Alex struggling is in the documentary, Bully , where
Alex s mom asks, Does I make you feel good to be punched? To be shoved, stabbed, or mocked? Alex
replied wearily, No. I don t know. I don t feel anything anymore. This clearly demonstrates that Alex
was having a personal struggle

Syrian Civil War Essay
ECPSC 2013
CURRENT AFFAIRS HANDOUT 11
SYRIAN CIVIL WAR
Gen
1. The Syrian civil war also commonly known as the Syrian uprising is an ongoing armed conflict in
Syria between forces loyal to the Syrian Baath Party government and those seeking to oust it. The
conflict began on 15 March 2011, with popular demonstrations that grew nationwide by April 2011.
These demonstrations were part of the wider Middle Eastern protest movement known as the Arab
Spring. Protesters demanded the resignation of President Bashar al Assad, whose family has held the
presidency in Syria since 1971, as well as the end to over four decades of Baath Party rule. In April
2011, the Syrian Army was deployed to quell the uprising. After months of military sieges, the ...

5. The Assad family comes from the minority Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam that comprises
an estimated 12 percent of the total Syrian population generating resentment among some Sunni
Muslims, a sect that makes up about three quarters of Syria s population.

World Opinion
6. The Arab League, United States, European Union, Arab States of the Persian Gulf, and other
countries condemned the use of violence against the protesters. The Arab League suspended Syria s
membership because of the government s response to the crisis, but granted the Syrian National
Coalition, Syria s seat on 6 March 2013. The Arab League also sent an observer mission in December
2011, as part of its proposal for peaceful resolution of the crisis.
7. A further attempt to resolve the crisis was made through the appointment of Kofi Annan as a special
envoy. On 15 July 2012, the International Committee of the Red Cross assessed the Syrian conflict as
a non international armed conflict (the ICRC s legal term for civil war), thus applying international
humanitarian law under the Geneva Conventions to Syria.
Current Situation
8. On 2 January 2013, the United Nations stated that the war s death toll had exceeded 60,000; on 12
February, this figure was updated to 70,000. According to various opposition activist groups, between
62,550 and 74,470 people have been killed, of which about half were civilians, and also included

The Dark Ages Of The Middle Ages
The Renaissance was the period in European history that referred how people were finally learning
about the Classical antiquity. It also marked the translation from the Middle Ages to the Modern
world. The length of the period lasted from 14th century to the 17th century, but it forever changed the
Western World.
People during the Renaissance viewed the other periods throughout history differently.
Everyone was worshipping the Classical antiquity since the people were free to think and question
while the Middle Ages caused people to go into silence for fears of punishment. They were most
disgusted with the Middle Ages because of how much it wasn t the Classical antiquity. The Dark Ages,
a nickname for the Middle Ages made by the Renaissance, were often described the backwards
civilization that had formed after the Western Roman Empire collapsed. However, Classical antiquity
appealed every Renaissance man and woman because their artworks and ruins were found all over
Europe and it caused people to be curious about it. Once they learn of the Romans and the Greeks, it
led to people coming up with their own ideas while challenging the Catholic Church s ideas. Once the
Renaissance began and spread across Europe, major discoveries would forever change world history.
There were several discoveries going on during the Renaissance that forever changed the world. One
of those most important discoveries was the exploration of the New World. Christopher Columbus, the
famous explorer,

Definition Of Migration Of International Migration
Literature review Definition of Migration International migration may be defined as movement of
people from one country to another in order to take up employment, or establish residence or to seek
refuge from persecution (IOM, 1993). Recognized authors (Appleyard, 1991; Rodgers, 1992; Abrar
et.al., 2000) have categorized international migration into 6 broad categories. These are permanent
settlers, documented or regular labour migrants, undocumented or irregular migrants, asylum seekers,
recognized refugees and defacto refugees. Migration includes a variety of movement of people from
one place to another, albeit characterized by different purposes that manifest itself in residency for
specific periods ie., time and nature, like permanent, temporary, involuntary, legal or illegal. It is the
purpose that distinguishes one kind of migration from another. Some migrate to settle permanently in
the country of destination, some for employment purpose, while some even emigrate and seek asylum,
escaping from prosecution or from disasters. Migrants who return home often contribute by being
enterprising, innovative etc. by investing their expertise and savings. These skilled workers may
launch new ventures in their countries and promote economic development. Some pass their expertise
along to others as teachers or trainers. As a result of bidirectional trend of migration, in some parts of
the world, the old dynamic of brain drain is giving way to brain circulation , contrary to

Examples Of Spiritual Warfare In C. S. Lewis The Screwtape...
Spiritual Warfare Ephesians 6:12 says, For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places. In the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, Uncle
Screwtape sends a collection of letters to Wormwood, always signing your affectionate Uncle
Screwtape. Screwtape, the older demon, counsels Wormwood on how to tempt the patient , a human.
Through the course of the letters his Patient becomes a Christian. When his patient die, the human
ascends to heaven and Wormwood descends to Hell. We can all agree these demons were manipulative
and harmful, but we disagree whether they are pitiable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the letters Screwtape gives Wormwood (or Lewis gives us) many examples of lies from
the demons. Although there are several lies, there are four deceptions, which I thought are most
interesting. The first is having pride in humility. When the patient is humble Wormwood is to point out
his humility, therefore reversing his obedience into pride. The second exposed deception is a
distraction from the truth. When studying authors or philosophers the patient Wormwood encourages
him to ask about the authors background, why he wrote it, or how he came to his conclusion. All these
questions are good, but Wormwood purposefully uses these questions to distract his human from
questioning the truth. I believe Lewis believes this question is important because it is important to
evaluate a belief as good or bad on the basis of truth. The third lie is praying for someone else s sin. In
the book, Wormwood s assignment is to encourage his patient to pray for his mother s faults, so that
the patient focuses on her faults. Lastly, the fourth lie the patient believes is in his misdirected anger.
Screwtape encourages Wormwood to direct the Patient s hatred of their enemy in war to his neighbors,
and his good intentions toward strangers, that way his virtues are closer to fantasy than reality. In
result, the patient was kind to strangers and hateful to family and close friends. Lewis brilliantly
exposes these lies in an intriguing and thought provoking

  • 2. The Great Canadian Real Estate Crash Of 2013 Toronto is the largest condominium market in North America followed by Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver along with Halifax and St. Johns. Up until 2013 the market had been growing and especially booming in Toronto. In 2013 this high condominium purchasing rate attracted the attention of the Bank of Canada, and the question was posed whether satisfying this high demand, including from foreigner s side, was a good thing for the market. Following that, the banks became more cautious when lending funds for construction or to purchase a unit. Low interest rates were believed to be favouring the booming demand. An increase in interest rates was believed to be a serious threat, however the probability of that happening was perceived as low in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The upward trend in condominiums ownership by individuals is seen in the numbers: in 1971 only 5% of all condominiums were occupied by private owners, whereas in 2001 this number reached 19%. In the same year two of every three apartments formed part of a condo. In 2001 condominiums accounted for 8% of all real estate in metropolitan cities, while they were only 1% of all real estate in smaller cities or in rural areas. There was a difference between the major metropolitan centers. Almost one fifth of privately owned real estate in Vancouver in 2001 were condominiums, 70% of which were apartments. In Quebec City and Montreal this number was 80%, whereas it was 50% in such cities as Edmonton, Calgary, and Ottawa dominated by row houses (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, 2004). Immigration, Migration and Population Search for employment within a province and nationwide had led to an increase in migration within Canada, both intra and inter provincially. External immigration increased too and the difference between external immigration and emigration abroad was estimated to reach roughly 316 thousand people in 2013. Such population growth may be a positive trend for the real estate market, yet it is seen by some a threat to economy fuelled by potentially rising unemployment (PWC, 2013). In 2013, migration patterns were benefiting Calgary at a higher than average national rate: 1.9% vs. 1.4% increase in population. Still, the popular belief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Health Benefits And The Business Aspects Of The Beloved... Coffee My topic of choice is coffee. I personally drink a large amount of it everyday. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted my topic to be. Coffee is something I enjoy everyday and am curiosity about. At one time I wanted to open my own coffee shop. That dream is dead, but I still enjoy the beverage, often in a hip, public place surrounded by friends. I believe this topic will keep me focused and interested and enlighten me on current arguments and facts. I am interested in the health benefits and the business aspects of the beloved brew. I had an intention at one time of pursuing nutrition as a degree, so health information intrigues me. Currently, I am considering business as a degree plan. Researching the business aspect may help prepare me for that future and give me a glimpse at what business entails. On a humorous note, I know I will need large doses of caffeine to make it through my college career, so I would like to know my limits. I have read many times over the last few years that coffee is good for you. Others tell me often that it is not, to which I tell them it is, based on material I have read, but not researched. I do not recall much material stating that it is bad, but I know it is out there. Part of my research paper will be in pursuit of finding the facts about the health benefits and harms of the brew. • 6. Crime Prevention Programs And Juvenile Delinquency Crime Prevention Programs Juvenile Delinquency Jenna Moffitt American Military University Professor Parkinson CMRJ295 November 29, 2015 Crime Prevention Programs Juvenile Delinquency Crime is the one constant thing in our country that will always be around. For decades we have enhanced our technology, changed our laws, put away criminals, but crime still, and will always exist. Crime prevention programs are put into place to help prevent juveniles and adults from continuing to go down a road of destruction and crime and hopefully lower the number of crimes committed each day. These programs have been put in place not only to help the criminal, but to help society. Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk, and the initiation of action to remove or reduce it. Crime Prevention is an active approach utilizing public awareness and preventive measures to reduce crime (New York State Police,2015). Preventing crime is one of the biggest goals in the criminal justice system. It all starts at the lowest level which is preventing crime with juvenile delinquency. Juvenile Delinquency is one of the biggest problems that today s criminal justice system faces. In 1899, Cook County, Illinois, set up the country s first juvenile court. Today, every state has a separate court system for juveniles (Roberts,2015,p.1). Juveniles are treated differently than an adult when it comes to the courtroom. Children used to be ... • 10. Equity Plays An Important Role For The Common Law Equity plays an important role in the common law which will be explained in this essay. It s foundational principles derive from philosophy and ethics as well as from political and religious background. To understand specific nature and extent it operates in the modern world it would be necessary to look how it developed over the centuries in the UK. In the 13th century s England, the common law courts operated through the Court of Common Pleas and the King s Bench and could only offer a limited range of remedies, predominantly monetary damages, becoming inflexible and very strict. This was due to a closed categories of available writs, therefore many judgments were regarded as unfair. As a result people became dissatisfied with the system and started petitioning the king for a more suitable remedies. With increasing number of petitions the king began to delegate the function of resolving such petitions to the Chancellor. The chancellors were often clergymen, king s confessors and keepers of the king s conscience, which shaped the character of equity. They developed new, more appropriate remedies for the cases based on individual justice. However, each chancellor had different understanding of fairness giving an overall impression of uncertainty and inconsistency in law. With even more increase of petitions, new court has been created known as the Court of Chancery. With the time, the growing of equity started to create conflicts with common law system, as individuals relied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The conscription crisis during World War One and World War Two had a negative effect on Canadian society. First of all, the Conscription Crisis of World War One, taking place between 1917 and 1918, introduced many important events for Canadian history. Furthermore, in World War Two, conscription is established yet again between 1944 and 1945. This reintroduction of conscription took place for many reasons, and led to a negative impact throughout Canada. Lastly, many people attempted to prevent conscription, such as Prime Minister McKenzie King. Therefore the conscription crisis of World War One had a negative effect on Canada. Conscription was initially created during The Great War, also known as World War One, by Canada s Prime Minister Robert Borden. Robert Borden introduced the Conscription Bill, also known as the Military Service Act. Canada introduced Conscription for many reasons, but mainly due to the lack of volunteers. Casualties were rising and fewer men were volunteering for a sure death in no man s land (Perisco, 198). By the beginning of October 1914, 30,000 Canadians volunteered for war. However, enlistments fell and the number dropped drastically when men began to recognize the number of casualties caused by battle. His discovery of the revolutionizing drug was nothing more than by chance. Fleming was a captain of the Royal Army Medical Corps, in addition to his medical background. During his wartime experiences, when having to treat soldiers with terminal sepsis, it fueled his desire to find any cure to this nuisance (unknowingly creating a drug that will save millions). No matter how different they may seem, all these adventures have one common thread. My brother. When he was born the doctor said he would never walk, talk, or read. Receiving this news broke my parents hearts. Even with this disastrous news they set out to prove him wrong. They decided that they would provide him with every opportunity to strive. By the time I was born, four years later, he could walk and talk like any other child and he still continues to learn new skills to this day. When I was first born, my brother called me baby girl because he was not able to pronounce my name. Wherever I was, that was where he was. I was his favorite person. He would spend hours just staring at me in my crib waiting for me to do something. After I learned to talk my brother and I had our own secret language. • 23. A Report On Pike River Mine Essay Pike river mine was in a lot trouble and needed something to get rid of financial debts that had piled up over the years. The mine was new and the owner, Pike River Coal Ltd, had not completed the systems and infrastructure necessary to safely produce coal. It s health and safety systems were poorly maintained and the ventilation and methane drainage systems weren t coping with everything the company was trying to do for example, driving roadways through coal and drilling into the coal seam and extracting coal by hydro mining, a method known to produce large quantities of methane. They wanted to start a system called hydro mining . Hydro mining uses a high pressure jet of water to carve coal from the surface or the coalface, which was found to be well suited to the coal seams of New Zealand s West Coast. In 2008, he (Nishioka) was asked to draw up a plan for a hydro system at pike river mine and to put forward a budget and price to supply most of the requirements as well as equipment needed. When Masaoki Nishioka arrived at Pike River Mine he found he was in a situation that was much worse than he had expected. The mines core infrastructure wasn t ready for hydro mining to begin with because it was still reliant on a small backup fan located at the top of the ventilation shaft and the main fan, which was the mines source of ventilation, wasn t installed yet and there was no emergency exit. The concept of demand forecasting more accurately measures and predicts the changes and opportunities in the supply chain. Based on the case, there were two fundamental changes to standardize and improve the accuracy of forecasts. The first area was to switch the focus of the focus of the forecasting process from sell in to sell through . This meant tracking closely what was sold in one region and shipped from another made forecasting market demand a more accurate exercise. The second area centered on ignoring capacity constraints to estimate demand. In the past, forecasting was affected by perceptions of present and future supply chain capacity . These forecasts were critical to the success of the company s refocused financial strategy. To accomplish this, there was high priority and core interest to align the master production schedule through the improvement of the demand planning process. Literary Analysis Of Migraine By Twenty One Pilots Migraine Migraine, while it s usually known as gloriously painful headache, ask a teenager and they will presumably say it s a hit song from the Ohio based synthpop, rap rock, indie rock, and yes even reggae, band Twenty One Pilots. Underneath the techno beat and flying piano notes, are lyrics with a profound meaning. The excellent lyricist, Tyler Joseph, in a spit fire fashion, confronts many prevalent feelings and struggles. Within the song, Tyler Joseph defends himself from his brain, that keeps sending him depressing, and pessimistic thoughts. This song uses many allegories represented by literal images. Migraine by Twenty One Pilots is a unique song that puts a voice to the battles of the mind; it has a riveting theme, complex figurative imagery, and an intriguing syntax. Furthermore, the theme of this song is Tyler s migraine, although it seems like a simple concept his migraine is due to his overworking head. In the song, Tyler sings (Line 12) let it be said what this headache represents it s me defending in suspense ...(Line 12) that s best represented by my depressing thoughts (line 16), and something you won t forget its all about my forehead (line 32 ) it s a door that holds back contents (line 33). He also sings in the introduction of the song; Am I the only one I know(Line 1) waging my wars behind my face and above my throat. (Line 2 )If you know anything about anatomy you will know he is referring to his brain. The overarching theme of this catchy song is the battles of the brain, which of course manifest itself as a migraine. Schizophrenic pop is what some people may label this duo; it makes sense for this song. The figurative imagery bounces around everywhere. There is a significant amount geographical imagery within this song, there is also a gigantic amount of literal imagery as well. All in all, there is a lot of imagery of all sorts. Here are a few examples; (line 28) Pardon my yelling and telling you green gardens!(line 28) are not what s growing in my psyche! (line 29), and behind my eyelids are islands of violence. The crux immissa is a Latin cross where only 3 of the 4 arms are equal. Its stem is longer compared to the other arms. The crux commissa has the shape of tau, a Greek letter and can also be referred to as St. Anthony s cross. Before the 4th century Christians were extremely conservative about displaying the cross because they were vulnerable to being ridiculed and being in danger. During the 4th century when Constantine was emperor, he eliminated crucifixion. During that time, crucifixion was used as a form of death penalty. Meursault is entertained by the simple things in life, and does not appear emotionally attached to much of anything. His apathetic behavior is ultimately his downfall. The story begins with Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know (3). The lines introduce Meursault s key personality trait, his indifference. He simply states the facts and has little emotional expression when talking about his mother s passing. At his mother s funeral, he felt others expected him to talk and show emotion and it made him uncomfortable. When he returns home to Algiers, Meursault carries on with life as normal. Over dinner one evening, his neighbor Raymond tells of his desire to punish his mistress for infidelity, and asks Meursault to write a letter to the mistress for him. Meursault agrees, saying I tried my best to please Raymond because I didn t have any reason not to please him (32). While Raymond is a man of questionable morals, he acts with purpose. • 37. D Holbach Free Will Essay The arguments presented by D Holbach and Hobart contain many of the same premises and opinions regarding the human mind, but nonetheless differ in their conclusion on whether we have free will. In this paper, I will explain how their individual interpretations of the meaning of free will resulted in having contrary arguments. Both philosophers begin by establishing that the soul, or self, is a reflection of the person that includes their characteristics, motives, and traits. Therefore, when they consider an event of free will it is perfectly acceptable to include the personality of the subject involved. However, the critical point in where they differ is with their interpretation of what it means to have free will. To D Holbach, this implies treating man as a free agent who s thoughts and actions and independent from external causes. To him, this implies that man must have greater strength than the entire of nature and results in a truly unnatural being. On the other hand, Hobart derives the meaning of free will from the word freedom , and concludes that someone who has the power act freely has free will. The conflict began on 15 March 2011, with popular demonstrations that grew nationwide by April 2011. These demonstrations were part of the wider Middle Eastern protest movement known as the Arab Spring. Protesters demanded the resignation of President Bashar al Assad, whose family has held the presidency in Syria since 1971, as well as the end to over four decades of Baath Party rule. The Arab League, United States, European Union, Arab States of the Persian Gulf, and other countries condemned the use of violence against the protesters. The Arab League suspended Syria s membership because of the government s response to the crisis, but granted the Syrian National Coalition, Syria s seat on 6 March 2013. The Arab League also sent an observer mission in December 2011, as part of its proposal for peaceful resolution of the crisis. 7. A further attempt to resolve the crisis was made through the appointment of Kofi Annan as a special envoy. • 44. The Dark Ages Of The Middle Ages The Renaissance was the period in European history that referred how people were finally learning about the Classical antiquity. It also marked the translation from the Middle Ages to the Modern world. The length of the period lasted from 14th century to the 17th century, but it forever changed the Western World. People during the Renaissance viewed the other periods throughout history differently. Everyone was worshipping the Classical antiquity since the people were free to think and question while the Middle Ages caused people to go into silence for fears of punishment. They were most disgusted with the Middle Ages because of how much it wasn t the Classical antiquity. The Dark Ages, a nickname for the Middle Ages made by the Renaissance, were often described the backwards civilization that had formed after the Western Roman Empire collapsed. However, Classical antiquity appealed every Renaissance man and woman because their artworks and ruins were found all over Europe and it caused people to be curious about it. Once they learn of the Romans and the Greeks, it led to people coming up with their own ideas while challenging the Catholic Church s ideas. Once the Renaissance began and spread across Europe, major discoveries would forever change world history. • 45. Definition Of Migration Of International Migration Literature review Definition of Migration International migration may be defined as movement of people from one country to another in order to take up employment, or establish residence or to seek refuge from persecution (IOM, 1993). Recognized authors (Appleyard, 1991; Rodgers, 1992; Abrar et.al., 2000) have categorized international migration into 6 broad categories. These are permanent settlers, documented or regular labour migrants, undocumented or irregular migrants, asylum seekers, recognized refugees and defacto refugees. Migration includes a variety of movement of people from one place to another, albeit characterized by different purposes that manifest itself in residency for specific periods ie., time and nature, like permanent, temporary, involuntary, legal or illegal. It is the purpose that distinguishes one kind of migration from another. Some migrate to settle permanently in the country of destination, some for employment purpose, while some even emigrate and seek asylum, escaping from prosecution or from disasters. Migrants who return home often contribute by being enterprising, innovative etc. by investing their expertise and savings. These skilled workers may launch new ventures in their countries and promote economic development. Some pass their expertise along to others as teachers or trainers. As a result of bidirectional trend of migration, in some parts of the world, the old dynamic of brain drain is giving way to brain circulation , contrary to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Examples Of Spiritual Warfare In C. S. Lewis The Screwtape... Spiritual Warfare Ephesians 6:12 says, For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. In the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, Uncle Screwtape sends a collection of letters to Wormwood, always signing your affectionate Uncle Screwtape. Screwtape, the older demon, counsels Wormwood on how to tempt the patient , a human. Through the course of the letters his Patient becomes a Christian. When his patient die, the human ascends to heaven and Wormwood descends to Hell. We can all agree these demons were manipulative and harmful, but we disagree whether they are pitiable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the letters Screwtape gives Wormwood (or Lewis gives us) many examples of lies from the demons. Although there are several lies, there are four deceptions, which I thought are most interesting. The first is having pride in humility. When the patient is humble Wormwood is to point out his humility, therefore reversing his obedience into pride. The second exposed deception is a distraction from the truth. When studying authors or philosophers the patient Wormwood encourages him to ask about the authors background, why he wrote it, or how he came to his conclusion. All these questions are good, but Wormwood purposefully uses these questions to distract his human from questioning the truth. I believe Lewis believes this question is important because it is important to evaluate a belief as good or bad on the basis of truth. The third lie is praying for someone else s sin. In the book, Wormwood s assignment is to encourage his patient to pray for his mother s faults, so that the patient focuses on her faults. Lastly, the fourth lie the patient believes is in his misdirected anger. Screwtape encourages Wormwood to direct the Patient s hatred of their enemy in war to his neighbors, and his good intentions toward strangers, that way his virtues are closer to fantasy than reality. In result, the patient was kind to strangers and hateful to family and close friends. Lewis brilliantly exposes these lies in an intriguing and thought provoking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
