Volunteering In The Nonprofit Sector
3. What is volunteering? How is this important in the nonprofit sector and within our country? What
factors might influence an increase or decrease in volunteer recruitment? What kind of volunteer
retaining strategies your organization will use? Why? By definition, to volunteer is to freely offer to
do something. In terms of the nonprofit sector, having volunteers for your organisation is essential to
its success. Any company, especially a nonprofit, needs people working for it. While most businesses
offer to pay their employees, a nonprofit functions in a different manner. Considering that a nonprofit
does most of its work for a charitable cause, it does not have the ability to pay people a salary in
exchange for working for it. As a result, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is incredibly important within the nonprofit sector because of the amount money given to the
nonprofits. Each and every year, nonprofits across the globe receive millions in donations and funding
in order to execute their tasks. The reason why people need to trust nonprofits with the money they are
given is because the lust to use the the money for personal benefit is compelling. The leaders who run
the organisation can be corrupt, so establishing rapport and a relationship with them allows for the
trust factor to be there. Once it is there, the public will feel as if that nonprofit is less likely to use the
money they receive for personal gain. The public view s the nonprofit sector as one that wants to help
others around them. Over the course of history, the other two sectors have been plagued with
corruption, which is another reason as to why trust within the nonprofit sector is extremely important.
The public needs to be able to put its faith in the fact that one of the three sectors is genuinely there to
offer assistance to those in need. Overall, if trust is not built, there will be absolutely no reason for the
public to put its faith in any sector, thus creating an uneasy relationship between the two. As long as
there is trust within one of the sectors, there is hope that one day the other two will be able to be
trusted on the same level as the

Summary Of Made In America By Kilibrand
Kirsten Gillibrand presents herself as a person who wants to get her point across and someone that is
serious about their job. She always has a goal and tries to work toward that goal to achieve and make
things better for the community. Kirsten does a lot of campaign ads to get her point across and to
ensure the people that she is trying her best to help them. Her campaign ads are usually videos she
uses so help get a point across. One of the campaign ads I saw was a video called Made in America .
In this video, Kirsten talked about where she was from and how she knows what the people is going
through so it is her job to help fix the situation. In the video, she showed her family and expressed that
upstate New York is where they call home so she sympathizes with the people on the point. Also, she
starts to talk about the economic priorities taxes so she tried to fix things by making giving a property
tax relief, she wrote an upstate job bill, and she voted to end tax breaks. These are all the things the
people were looking for as a start to fix the economy in upstate New York. ... Show more content on

Everything that she said in the video she has listed on her website. She makes it clear that her main
goal is change and to fix the issues that Upstate citizens are facing. When you go to her website one of
the first things you see is a paragraph about what she plans to do to help fix the state. When looking at
that paragraph you should be able to see that she listed her number one priority is rebuilding the
economy. This was a good comparison because unlike many legislatures you usually see their ads and
websites not matching up with things they have said but Gillibrand s is spot on and I can see that she
is serious about her job and she wants to help fix what has been

No Discipline by the British Soldiers Created the Boston...
The Boston Massacre
On March 5, 1770, colonists were taunting a British sentry outside the Customs House. This was
common for a day in colonized America. However, this day was more meaningful than any other
before. The British sentry retaliated causing a considerable mob of colonists to get involved. Then
some more British came to aid their comrade. Amid the chaos, the British fired their muskets into the
crowd killing five and injuring three. This would later be referred to as the Boston Massacre. A lack of
discipline by the British Soldiers prompted the Boston Massacre. British presence in America became
increasingly unwelcome during the 1700 s. The regime repeatedly became more authoritarian and
deprived the colonists of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The guard reciprocated the behavior; an unprofessional and ignorant reaction for a soldier. A mob of
colonists began to come to their fellow American s aid. The other British guards saw this happening
and came to help out their comrade. Captain Thomas Preston was the commanding officer of the men
dispatched to help the guard in front of the house. The crowd was remarkably rowdy and
uncontrollable. No one was sure what to do. The soldiers dispatched to the situation were unsure of
their orders and rules of engagement. All of a sudden, one soldier fires into the crowd. The rest follow.
( The Boston Massacre ). Samuel Adams cited it as The Boston Massacre to gain attention. (Danzer
98). There were eight casualties from the Boston Massacre. Crisppus Attucks, James Caldwell, and
Samuel Gray died immediately from the gunshots. Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr died shortly
after the incident. Christopher Monk was wounded by the gunfire of British, but died ten years later.
Historians disregard Monk as a death of the Boston Massacre because of this ( Boston Massacre
Historical Society ). Much controversy surrounds the Boston Massacre. No one is sure why or what
caused the soldiers to fire into the crowd. Some people testified that they only saw a mob of people,
then the firing of guns. Others say the British fired without provocation. Multiple testimonies have
said that they heard Captain Thomas Preston give the order to fire. There are some people who said

A Short Note On Risk Of Mobile Apps
Risk of Mobile apps Everyday more and more people are spending time on downloading mobile
applications, since many applications are free, or at little cost. Nearly 11 billion mobile apps were
downloaded in 2013, according to IDC (International Data Corporation) [1]. The personal data
collection by those mobile apps can be highly valuable to the third party companies. The report on
mobile apps by Appthority showed that 88% of 100 free Android apps from Google Play Store collect
IMEI s, while 30% access user s address books and 82% access location tracking. In addition, 57%
free iOS (operating system for Apple) collect IMEI/UDID, while 26% access address books and 50%
access location tracking (see Appendix A and B for information). Most mobile apps are convenient for
users and have become more efficient and handful, such as checking bank account; sending and
receiving emails, buying tickets, etc. Most of the time users don t realize that those apps can open
doors for malware stealing sensitive data and infect the mobile and internal networks, though. A
number of enterprise IT leaders are concerned about employees bringing their own mobile device into
organizations and connecting them to corporate networks, software, or accessing information, also
called bring your own device ( BYOD or BYO). BYOD can highly increase liability for those
companies. Therefore, IT leaders are trying to fill those significant gaps by bringing forth Mobile

Propaganda In World War I
Propaganda in World War I Anthony Morgan Ms. Beck Honors World Cultures Period 7 19 March
2017 Propaganda is defined as the information, ideas, or rumors which are deliberately spread widely
to help towards a nation, government, or any type of cause against another. The use of propaganda can
be extremely persuasive, if it is used correctly. In the time frame of July 28, 1914 to November 11,
1918, the use of propaganda in the world was being used on a global scale. It was being used through
newspapers, posters, radio stations, and even through writing books. There was more than just one
type of propaganda being used in World War I, and one example would be the type of propaganda that
was used by the British. This was mainly used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, others felt that nobody should have to go through such difficulty in a point of their life.
Throughout World War I, there was a common need for males to be recruited into the military force,
and propaganda was one technique that was globally used in an attempt to recruit men as allies and
defeat the enemy by using different methods such as conscription, recruitment, and also atrocity
propaganda. Recruitment propaganda was a technique used to recruit males for the military in the time
of need. This became very prominent during the time of World War I. This was majorly influencing in
the years of 1915 and 1916. While it was at its highest influence rate, it was recruiting hundreds of
thousands of men each year. This was very beneficial, for the main purpose that the nations were
attempting to build a strong military force to protect their homeland. First, it influenced men to join
the military from fear, patriotism, guilt, and even accusation. Also, it appealed to the emotions of
women and men to press the issue upon family members that were eligible to join the military. This
was mainly achieved through propaganda posters. These were vital to the recruitment process because
they could be posted on walls almost anywhere. Also, the posters were relatively cheap, easy to make,
and were able to get the needed

Reflection Paper For Mental Health Counseling
When I first started my college journey I initially majored in Biology. Not knowing what I wanted to
do, I was influenced by my advisor to enter the biology field. After my third year, I decided not to
pursue biology anymore, and that s when I discovered my passion for the Psychology field. After
receiving my undergrad in psychology, I knew that I wanted to get my masters in Clinical Mental
Health Counseling, but I had no idea of how broad this area is. This week assignment granted me the
opportunity to interview someone who has been in this profession for 25 plus years who has worked in
all sectors when it comes to mental health counseling. It allowed me to learn the pros and cons of this
field and it even gave me more insight and clarity on exactly what I wanted to do. I found this week
assignment to be very informative and I believe it is necessary for anyone that s interesting in entering
in this field. I am grateful for the knowledge and advice that I received during this week assignment.

Old Money In The Great Gatsby
If The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald were written today, the definitions and actions of new and
old money would differ. The Great Gatsby proves as a critical social history of New York in the
Roaring Twenties, giving us insight into the actions of the people during this time. We also notice the
difference in actions based on social class. Fitzgerald wished to show these societies and social classes
through the development of Gatsby s story. If the novel were written in today s time, the characters
would change drastically depending on their social class. The roles of new and old money would
differ because of the newfound appreciation of the newly rich and the sudden distain for inherited
wealth, something that contrasts the views of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People of the middle class in America look to those of new money for a hope of economic prosperity.
New money shows that with hard work and dedication, ones work can pay off. Most celebrities of
today s time grew up poor or of lower class but worked their way up to attain their wealth. This is the
epitome of new money. Because of this, many people look up to celebrities because they believe that
one day, they will be able to achieve new money too. This relates to The Great Gatsby. The people in
the Valley of Ashes looked up to those living in East and West Egg as hope to someday be as wealthy
as them. This hope of the American Dream is not found with money that was passed down through
generations. Old money is unreachable; it is only the reality for a miniscule percentage of the United
States. This is why today, new money is valued. People of generational money tend to ostracize those
who aren t on the same economic level as them, whereas individuals who worked for their wealth are
likely to be down to earth, as they have experienced hardships making their money. This idea relates
to Tom Buchanan and how he belittles Gatsby, whereas Gatsby uses his experiences he learned from
growing up in North Dakota to better the people around him. People have noticed the work gone into
making money in the modern era and the actions of both old and new money. New

How Did Rousseau Influence The Relationship Between The...
Eighteenth century philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau influenced many French revolutionaries with
his ideas. In the time of the Enlightenment, people believed that humankind could progress and
improve through the use of reason and science. One of them was French artist Jacques Louis David,
who was official artist to the French revolution (p158, Blk 3). Just as Rousseau had used his
publications to reflect on his ideas, David had used art as a media to reflect the ideas and values of the
society in the eighteenth century. In this essay, we will be examining the influence of Rousseau s
views on the relationship between the state and the individual in David s painting The Oath of the
Horatii .

(p105, Blk 3). As the particular will is a product of appetite and the general will a product of reason,
we should obey the general will which makes us noble and good. Rousseau argues that when a man
acts on his particular will, he is slavish to his appetite and that makes him a stupid, limited animal.
Whereas, when he adopts the general will, he is being an ennobled, intelligent being. In the painting,
the brothers offer their lives on behalf of the country. In doing so, they are sacrificing their personal
desires for the sake of their country and are thus considered heroes, reflecting Rousseau s views.
This painting is divided into three equal parts by the arches in the background and the characters
correspond to each of these arches (TV12). The father is in the middle portion of the painting. The
lines of perspective created by the tiled floor, draws our attention to the swords that the father is
holding and the vanishing point lies just behind the handles of the sword. Our angle of vision is such
that we are looking directly at the main figures groups, particularly the father. A single light source
from the left of the picture illuminates the characters and also focuses our attention to the father
holding the sword. This creates a theatrical effect. The background is simple and stark so our attention
is focussed on the figure groups in the painting. The painting has a wide tonal range that makes the
composition logical and balanced. The colours used in this

spent so much time watching television and playing games with my siblings, now has its carpet
completely torn up, walls indented, and closet in complete shambles with light gleaming sharply
through the holes of the closet from holes that were made by vandals who never knew the true value
of the humble abode that I used to reside in. My old home, since being lived in by me and my family

dark and scary place that no one deserves to live in, a place that humans have indeed used well, so
well that there is nothing left of what it used to be. That image of the house was the last I saw it, back
in 2010, It is possible now that the house had since been destroyed, with the memories that have been

Psychological Effects Of Deindividuation
The need to belong is an innate need among humanity. Whether it means joining a group of people
with the same interests, religious beliefs, or ethnicity, people tend to cling to those who relatively have
the same characteristics. This can simply be observed in a high school cafeteria, most notably
separating groups by athletic or academic interests, within these groups, each person is taking action
to be more liked by each of its members. Although a majority of groups are not extremists, the ones
that are, thrive because of social influence and the need to belong. In comparison to the social
psychological perspective of the Nazi regime, members of the Islamic State (IS) are susceptible to
group polarization due to excessive use of social media. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Nazi regime did not have computers, the social influence of propaganda was still
successful. Propaganda is used as a tool to manipulate and provoke behaviors to further the intentions
of the group. When people already have pre existing beliefs, they are enhanced by propaganda, which
makes it a useful, but dangerous tool when the intentions of the group are to harm those who have
different beliefs. Similar to the Nazis, the intentions of ISIS is to protect the land and, according to the
Quran, only Muslims may live in the caliphate while obeying and promoting their government efforts.

Today, we have a growing number of unfortunate individuals within our society that need our help,
and with that increasing number our charities and nonprofit organizations need help. A nonprofit

charity is voluntarily giving such like money to the ones in need. With a wide variety of choices to
pick from to help the unfortunate they also need help in choosing who to donate too. In an article

the food assistance, there are many who need the financial help. As these authors point out helping the

The Assessment Of Osborne And Waters
In statistical tests, we must rely on assumptions regarding the variables we used in the analysis. If
these assumptions are not met we may arrive at results that are incorrect, or not representative of the
population, typically due to a Type I or a Type II error, or an over or under estimation of significance
or effect size. Osborne and Waters (n.d., p. 1) quote an 1997 article by Pedhazur stating Knowledge
and understanding of the situations when violations of assumptions lead to serious biases, and when
they are of little consequence, are essential to meaningful data analysis which while a very important
point, really only holds importance when researchers test assumptions, an important step in data
analysis that is rarely performed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These tests give researchers information about normality, while the K S tests provide inferential
statistics on normality. One of the best tests for outliers is a visual inspection of histograms, as well as
frequency distributions or converting data to z scores. The removal of univariate and bivariate outliers
can reduce the probability of Type I and Type II errors, which improve the accuracy of some
estimates. It is important to consider that removing outliers is not always desirable, in which case
transformations can improve normality. This can complicate the interpretation of the results, and
therefore should only be used deliberately and in an informed manner. To accurately estimate the
relationship between dependent and independent variables using standard multiple regression, these
relationships must be linear in nature. This is why it is so important to examine analyses for non linear
data, as non linear data will result in a regression analysis that under estimates the true relationship.
Under estimation carries some risk, in particular an increased chance of Type II errors for the
independent variable, and in the case of multiple regression, an increased risk of Type I errors (over
estimation) for other independent variables that share variance with that variable. There are a few
primary ways to detect non linearity in the data. The use of theory or previous research can be used to
inform current analyses,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Membrane Filtration
The increased cost of water consumption and wasteful require treatment process that is integrated with
the circuits of water on the ground rather than as a subsequent treatment (19). From this point of view,
membrane filtration offers a potential application. The processes that use membranes offer exciting
possibilities for separation of dyestuffs and dyeing auxiliaries that reduce simultaneously hydrolysed
color and biochemical oxygen demand /chemical oxygen demand of wastewater; generally used to
treat effluent reactive dye bath, that could potentially reduce the volume of waste and recovery
simultaneously salt (20). On the other hand, can be separated into two or more components the flow of
fluid to its molecular size. The advantages of membrane filtration are because, it is fast with low space
requirement and saturation can be reused. The disadvantage with membrane filtration method has a

published studies on dye waste water, the concentration of mineral salts is not more than 20 g / l and
the concentration of dye does not exceed 1.5 g / l (36). In general, the wastewater is reconstituted with
only one dye (37), and the volume studied is also low. The treatment of waste water by nanofiltration
is one of the rare applications that are possible for the treatment of solutions with highly concentrated
and complex solutions (38). An important problem is the accumulation of dissolved solids, which

Medics Chapter 3 Summary
Chapter 3 entitled Medics is particularly significant due to its illustration of the unique physical and
psychological effects of the war on army medics. This response will assess the significance of the
author s goal in this chapter and discuss the methods he employs to achieve it. Ultimately, by looking
at this small aspect of the war in Vietnam, one can gain a much deeper understanding of the unique
and complex individuals involved. In this chapter, Glasser s goal seems to be two fold: 1) to shed light
on the physical sacrifices and acts of bravery committed by medics and 2) to illustrate the unique
psychological effects of the war on army medics. More specifically, Glasser makes the argument that
medics were motivated to risk their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that the psychological effect of the war on medics (as is evident from these stories) was so
substantial, that they army reduced their required term of service from 12 to 7 months. Completely
consumed by their roles as protectors and saviors, medics often limited their own food so that they
could carry more medical supplies. They stole extra plasma to bring into battle and even asked their
family members to send them additional medical supplies. In truth, the sacrificial behavior of medics
was so predictable that the Viet Cong intentionally wounded (rather than killed) American soldiers in
an attempt to lure nearby medics into the line of fire. Ultimately, this chapter is extremely significant
because it provides added nuance to the reader s understanding of the war and tells stories of bravery
and sacrifice that might have otherwise been forever lost to history. Although the soldiers of Vietnam
tend to be portrayed as poorly trained and unruly, Glasser exposes this mistaken generalization in his
treatment of army medics. Thus, the reader is granted an intimate glimpse into an aspect of the
Vietnam War that is rarely discussed in history courses or popular discourse. In this respect, chapter 3
offers the best contribution to Glasser s overall goal of preserving the memories of those who served
in Vietnam, a war which is all to often over generalized or ignored

Facebook Has Changed The Way People

popular Facebook is but how it truly changed the way people connected and communicated.

how Zuckerberg never created Facebook for profit. His idea wasn t to create a company that would

create a company that could link people together although he never intend for Facebook to replace

Animal Experimentation And The Medical Field
Every year in high school, the discussion about animal experimentation would be brought up either in
a Science or English class. The discussions would last about three quarters of a period, and they would
go nowhere because nobody could agree whether it was a good or bad thing to do. I would always be
in the middle of the debate because, I believed that it was a good thing. I am for animal
experimentation because it has revolutionized the medical field, regulates the overpopulation of
certain animal species in the environment, and follows a certain set of laws set by the Animal Welfare
Act. The first reason I support animal experimentation is because it has revolutionized the medical
field. For thousands of years there have been reports of animal experimentation throughout the courses
of history. Ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle (384 322 B.C.E.) observed and manipulated
numerous animals, establishing that mammals in particular resembled humans to the extent that they
could act as stand ins. (Bruce Jennings) As Bruce Jennings described, animal experimentation has
been around since the great historians. Also, one hundred years after Aristotle made the discovery that
the human and animal anatomy were similar, a physician made a miraculous discovery. The Roman
physician Galen (199 129 B.C.E.)...tied off the utters from a cow to show they channeled urine from
the kidneys to the bladder, and he cut the spinal cord in different places to demonstrate the

The Role Of Gender During The Renaissance Period
A critical point in European history was the Renaissance period, which took place between 1300 1700.
The term Renaissance stands for rebirth , and in this context refers to the increased interest that was
taken in learning from Greek and Roman classical writing. Recent exploration by historians into the
Renaissance period has seen a fixation on the discussion of the role of gender during the Renaissance.
A variety of historians, such as Joan Kelly and Merry E. Weisner, believe that women didn t
experience any form of a Renaissance during this period. It can be widely acknowledged that during
this period society did experience a rebirth , especially in terms of the role of the men in Europe.
Women, on the other hand, weren t as fortunate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, women didn t have a renaissance in terms of the way people regarded them, as attitudes
regarding women from the middle ages continued right through the Renaissance.
The second area that saw the littlest change for women in the Renaissance was the expectations that
came with their social status. Overall women were deemed to be a lower class in terms of gender, and
men often treated them with less respect as a result. Within social classes, stereotypical beliefs
regarding women and their role were held. Lower class women were expected to be housewives and
take care of everything to do with the house. The expectation of working class women, however, was
slightly different. They were expected to work for their husbands and help them run their business,
although they couldn t partake in any of the work by themselves or outside of the house. However, this
different expectation wasn t necessarily new and was upheld from previous times, supporting this idea
of women not receiving a Renaissance in the area of social class. Some women in the elite were able
to become slightly more independent from their husbands and gain more responsibility, but the vast
majority of women in the Renaissance continued to be used for the sole benefits of the men; as
providers of a dowry, homemakers

Sermon At The Word Of Faith Christian Church Delivered By...
On Tuesday, November 26, I critically listened to a sermon at The Word of Faith Christian Church
delivered by Pastor Julius Stephens. It was a regular Tuesday bible study with about eight people.
Pastor Stephens s topic for the day was everybody has a purpose. In this paper, I will critique Pastor
Stephens s sermon based on its introduction, body, delivery, conclusion and finally my overall reaction
to his speech. The reason for the speaker s sermon was to ensure his audience realizes their worth.
Pastor Stephens speech introduction started with an attention getting device and then followed with a
Short anecdote which he used to further explain his topic. His attention getting device was the
quotation If you don t know the purpose of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To enable better understanding Pastor Stephens s maintained good volume in speaking marking sure
we didn t have to strain to hear him. He also made the sermon very interactive asking a lot of question
and asked the views of his audience on an issue in order to engage them. He maintained good eye
contact and didn t use a lot of hand gestures so he didn t distract his audience from the topic. He used
spoke audaciously, he took risks in saying things that may or may not hurt people s feelings in order to
pass his point effectively. The speaker also made use of transition words this made his sermon
coherent.
The body of the sermon was mostly centralized on the purpose of each and every one of us in the
church, the saying everything happens for a reason and his view on it. He stated that every person in
the church has a particular purpose. He used the example of a human s body stating that every part of
the body has particular purposes. He went further to say in the body of Christ some of us maybe the
legs, the eyes, the mouth, and the eyes of the church.
He said every one of us has a purpose in the church as every part of our body has a particular task to
perform. He said those of us who are evangelist are the mouth of the church; he said those of us who
are givers are the hands of the church, and those of us who have the money to sponsor the movement
of the gospel around the world are the feet. This example made me and other audience member

Comparing Hamlet And The Godfather
Hamlet Essay Hamlet a play written by William Shakespeare is solely revolved around the seeking
justice. Hamlet is a tragic play, which involves the Prince of Denmark (Hamlet) seeking revenge for
his father s death. Hamlet was published in the early sixteen hundred s, and after that there has been a
lot of storylines of movies, books, and TV shows that are derived from the play. One of the most
similar pieces of work to Hamlet is The Godfather the movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola in
1972. The Godfather is a prominent crime film about a war hero of World War 2 named Michael
Corleone, who openly volunteered to take control of his father s (Vito Corleone) mafia business, after
the death of his father and his older brother (Sonny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a meeting with Vito, Sollozzo says, Don Corleone, I need a man who has powerful friends. I need a
million dollars in cash. I need, Don Corleone those politicians you carry in your pocket, like so many
nickels and dimes. After seeing his father condition Michael steps up and without rethinking decides
to organize a fake meeting with Sollozzo where he will kill him. After, a few minutes into their
meeting Michael Corleone excuses himself to go to the restroom and returns with a pistol and drills
two bullets right on his head. In contrast, Hamlet uses incredible amounts of procrastination to kill his
father s murderer Claudius. Topchayan also notes, also notices the flaw of the main character, and has
her own theory of the reason what Hamlet did. In her article, she shows the trouble, the impracticality,
of a person who is not a natural born killer to commit murder to seek his revenge. (281 288) Despite,
unnatural capability Hamlet still kills King Claudius by stabbing him with a poisonous sword and
gagging him with a poisonous beverage. Hamlet and Michael Corleone both became very isolated and
started being dishonest to their lovers as their plot to killing the villain evolved. Ophelia, was the lover
of Prince Hamlet, daughter of Polonius, and the sister of Laertes had a very obedient soul. In the very
beginning of the play, Hamlet becomes aware about his father s death and quickly dissolves

White Christmas Literary Devices
Dreaming of A White Christmas was written by Bing Crosby during the year of 1942. This typical
song has a different hook that got my attention. The title was the hook for me because it said
Dreaming of A White Christmas it s a very different title to other songs. Bing Crosby wrote this song
because he had a purpose to tell parents and us they key memories. Key memories of the holiday
season that most people love and cherish. This song had some literary devices I wanted to discuss.
One of the literary devices that got my attention was imagery. This song has imagery because in (1:1)
it say White Christmas this makes me imagine the snow falling during the time in December. You can
also imagine people having fun, spending time with their family during a White Christma. Another
imagery that many people can imagine is (1:6) With every Christmas card i write it makes you
imagine. It gives you a sense of people sending Christmas cards to their family or to special people.
The last imagery is my favorite one. Its is (1:12) To hear sleigh bells in the snow makes me imagine
the soft, and beautiful sound of sleigh bells during Christmas time it s an amazing feeling you get. ...

Bing Crosby used rhyming to make the song have a beat to it. In (1:1,2) this is rhyming going on
there. The rhyming is between the word know and snow. Bing Crosby did a good job of rhyming with
this song. In (1: 3) you can also find rhyming their with the words treetops glisten and children listen.
The writer made a good job because if treetops glisten children will listen. Most of his rhymes are
typical human extinct. The rhyming that got me curious was the rhyming in (1: 6,7,8) because he
ended all his sentences with words that rhyme and he did not do that with his other lyrics. This one
literary device that got me

How Did Samuel Morse Use Mass Communication
With just a few touches of a button the telegraph by Samuel Morse was the first of its era to allow
mass communication, quickly, and long distant. Changing the way the world communicated and
conducting business, the invention of the telegraph became a significant part of American history.
Prior to the invention of the telegraph, people would write letters and rely on messengers to deliver
their letters. Often letters would be sent via boats across the ocean taking days to receive. Samuel
Morse was quoted I wish that in an instant I could communicate information, but three thousand miles
are not passed over in an instant and we must wait four long weeks before we can hear from each
other. (Streissguth, Thomas). Little did he know that his

Hector Berlioz s Symphonie Fantastique
Review: Symphonie Fantastique
Symphonie Fantastique is the first full musical outpouring of romanticism composer, Hector Berlioz.
Hector Berlioz is a French composer, a microcosm of the romantic era. Symphony Fantastique is a
quintessential example of romantic programmatic music. It is a novel, unlike poetry. It is free of
structural form; based on Berlioz being under the influence and remembering of an unattainable
woman. There are five movements; his first tempers his depression, his love and jealousy which then
rage to religious consolation. The second movement is about his encounter with her at ball. The third
movement consists of him seeking peace while wandering in the countryside only to have her disrupt
his peace.
There is a slow introduction; you get a sense of longing in the music suggesting that Berlioz is feeling
sad before he saw his lady friend. The symphony plays a slow introduction in a classical sonata style.
The muted strings play a sort of veiled tune and it fits Berlioz s romantic spirit. The orchestra gives off
a dreamlike condition and the melody provides a sense of loneliness, and despair, a description of how
Berlioz feels. The key it is being played in is C minor.
In the first movement a recurrent theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the harps introduction, the violins begin to be playing the main melody. There is a simple waltz
tune that plays in the background as the harps and violins play. There is a sense of delicateness and
beauty with the flutes and clarinets playing in the background as well. There s ascending and
descending and the tempo increases. Idèe Fixe is incorporated as soon as Berlioz sees the woman
again and then it slowly fades away because the waltz takes over as she disappears into the crowd. The
music becomes livelier. At the end there is a whirling rush and the movement ends because cause

Kennedy Won The Democratic Convention
Democratic Presidential Nomination On April 30 1960, James Rowe, a Washington Lawyer, gave
$10,000 the campaign of Hubert H. Humphrey (Peters, P. 62). Rowe funded Humphrey s campaign in
hopes that Humphrey would defeat John F. Kennedy. Moreover, Rowe thought that this would lead to
Johnson s path of the presidency (Peters, P. 62) However; it was too late because Kennedy was
dominating the presidential nominations. Instead, Johnson was relying on his running mate Humphrey
to win the Democratic Convention. Ultimately, Johnson hoped that Humphrey would choose him to be
his vice president if Humphrey won the Democratic Convention. Johnson believed that he was an
excellent candidate because of his impressive record as Senate majority leader and his friendship with
powerful Democratic senators (Peters, P. 62). However, Johnson s strategy was a failure because
Humphrey lost to a landslide to Kennedy on May 9, 1960 (Bornet, P. 63) Ultimately, Kennedy nearly
received majority of the votes. Moreover, Kennedy won the Democratic Convention nomination with
806 votes to 409 (Bornet, P. 64). Kennedy also offered Johnson the vice presidential nomination in the
1960 nomination. Lastly, Kennedy offered Johnson the vice president nomination because Kennedy
knew that Johnson had a lot of connections in Washington that could lead to his win in the 1960
presidential election. For instance, Johnson used his personal connections to help Kennedy win the
electoral vote from states that Kennedy

Sam Journey
The Adventures of Sam
Once upon a time there was a salmon named Sam. Sam and his family lived in the Pacific Ocean. Sam
was about to embark on a very tough journey. He was about to make his way from the Pacific Ocean
into the rivers that would lead him further into the United States. He was planning on making his way
to the Snake River located in Oregon and Idaho. Sam was making this journey because he was going
to spawn. Spawning is when a female salmon leaves her eggs in gravel beds located in rivers so that a
male salmon will come and fertilize the eggs. The reason why this is such a hard journey is because
the Sam and the other salmon are going to be swimming upstream. The salmon having to flip their

he started to get really tired on the 5th day of his trip. When Sam was in high school, he was on the
swim team. Sam was not only the fastest swimmer, but he was able to swim for forever and not get
tired. However, Sam had to swim upstream which meant he was swimming against strong waters
which made him really tired. He had already seen many other salmon die from exhaustion. Sam was
getting closer and closer to his destination. At the pace he was going at he would arrive at the Snake
RIver in a day or two. Sam was minding his own business just swimming along until one of the other
salmon swimming beside him started to start a conversation with Sam. Hey you should be careful, up
here is where we re going to swim through Richland Falls. Sam replied Why do I need to be careful?

Theme Of Death In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The Mesopotamian understanding of death is uniquely different from modern understandings in that
the Mesopotamians lacked a belief in their own free will. The Mesopotamian epic poem, The Epic of
Gilgamesh, can, as a result of both the theology and cosmogony of the civilization, be viewed as the
first literary meditation on death and the human condition. The hero of the epic, Gilgamesh, through a
metaphorical self death, via the death of his only equal, Enkidu, can begin to comprehend the idea of
death. The Epic of Gilgamesh, above all else, is a reflection on mortality and the human place in the
cosmos.
Gilgamesh is two thirds (Gilgamesh 61) god, and, as a result of this, lives with a sense of invincibility.
The idea of death, of ceasing to exist in his temporal form, does not originally frighten him, as it does
Enkidu, who is able to grasp the true nature of existence because of his bestial nature. Raised among
beasts and the wilderness, death is a very real and very present threat to Enkidu. Though Gilgamesh is
aware that only the gods live forever (71) while men s days are numbered (71), his understanding of
his place in the cosmos is limited. Gilgamesh is unable to comprehend that though he is part god, he is
not a god, and therefore, is subject to mortal laws and constraints. This is evident by his conduct prior
to the arrival of Enkidu, when he behaves monstrously. His lust leaves no virgin to her lover (62), and
sounds the tocsin for his amusement (62).

  • 2. Volunteering In The Nonprofit Sector 3. What is volunteering? How is this important in the nonprofit sector and within our country? What factors might influence an increase or decrease in volunteer recruitment? What kind of volunteer retaining strategies your organization will use? Why? By definition, to volunteer is to freely offer to do something. In terms of the nonprofit sector, having volunteers for your organisation is essential to its success. Any company, especially a nonprofit, needs people working for it. While most businesses offer to pay their employees, a nonprofit functions in a different manner. Considering that a nonprofit does most of its work for a charitable cause, it does not have the ability to pay people a salary in exchange for working for it. As a result, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is incredibly important within the nonprofit sector because of the amount money given to the nonprofits. Each and every year, nonprofits across the globe receive millions in donations and funding in order to execute their tasks. The reason why people need to trust nonprofits with the money they are given is because the lust to use the the money for personal benefit is compelling. The leaders who run the organisation can be corrupt, so establishing rapport and a relationship with them allows for the trust factor to be there. Once it is there, the public will feel as if that nonprofit is less likely to use the money they receive for personal gain. The public view s the nonprofit sector as one that wants to help others around them. Over the course of history, the other two sectors have been plagued with corruption, which is another reason as to why trust within the nonprofit sector is extremely important. The public needs to be able to put its faith in the fact that one of the three sectors is genuinely there to offer assistance to those in need. Overall, if trust is not built, there will be absolutely no reason for the public to put its faith in any sector, thus creating an uneasy relationship between the two. As long as there is trust within one of the sectors, there is hope that one day the other two will be able to be trusted on the same level as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of Made In America By Kilibrand Kirsten Gillibrand presents herself as a person who wants to get her point across and someone that is serious about their job. She always has a goal and tries to work toward that goal to achieve and make things better for the community. Kirsten does a lot of campaign ads to get her point across and to ensure the people that she is trying her best to help them. Her campaign ads are usually videos she uses so help get a point across. One of the campaign ads I saw was a video called Made in America . In this video, Kirsten talked about where she was from and how she knows what the people is going through so it is her job to help fix the situation. In the video, she showed her family and expressed that upstate New York is where they call home so she sympathizes with the people on the point. Also, she starts to talk about the economic priorities taxes so she tried to fix things by making giving a property tax relief, she wrote an upstate job bill, and she voted to end tax breaks. These are all the things the people were looking for as a start to fix the economy in upstate New York. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everything that she said in the video she has listed on her website. She makes it clear that her main goal is change and to fix the issues that Upstate citizens are facing. When you go to her website one of the first things you see is a paragraph about what she plans to do to help fix the state. When looking at that paragraph you should be able to see that she listed her number one priority is rebuilding the economy. This was a good comparison because unlike many legislatures you usually see their ads and websites not matching up with things they have said but Gillibrand s is spot on and I can see that she is serious about her job and she wants to help fix what has been ... • 4. No Discipline by the British Soldiers Created the Boston... The Boston Massacre On March 5, 1770, colonists were taunting a British sentry outside the Customs House. This was common for a day in colonized America. However, this day was more meaningful than any other before. The British sentry retaliated causing a considerable mob of colonists to get involved. Then some more British came to aid their comrade. Amid the chaos, the British fired their muskets into the crowd killing five and injuring three. This would later be referred to as the Boston Massacre. A lack of discipline by the British Soldiers prompted the Boston Massacre. British presence in America became increasingly unwelcome during the 1700 s. The regime repeatedly became more authoritarian and deprived the colonists of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The guard reciprocated the behavior; an unprofessional and ignorant reaction for a soldier. A mob of colonists began to come to their fellow American s aid. The other British guards saw this happening and came to help out their comrade. Captain Thomas Preston was the commanding officer of the men dispatched to help the guard in front of the house. The crowd was remarkably rowdy and uncontrollable. No one was sure what to do. The soldiers dispatched to the situation were unsure of their orders and rules of engagement. All of a sudden, one soldier fires into the crowd. The rest follow. ( The Boston Massacre ). Samuel Adams cited it as The Boston Massacre to gain attention. (Danzer 98). There were eight casualties from the Boston Massacre. Crisppus Attucks, James Caldwell, and Samuel Gray died immediately from the gunshots. Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr died shortly after the incident. Christopher Monk was wounded by the gunfire of British, but died ten years later. Historians disregard Monk as a death of the Boston Massacre because of this ( Boston Massacre Historical Society ). Much controversy surrounds the Boston Massacre. No one is sure why or what caused the soldiers to fire into the crowd. Some people testified that they only saw a mob of people, then the firing of guns. Others say the British fired without provocation. Multiple testimonies have said that they heard Captain Thomas Preston give the order to fire. There are some people who said they ... • 5. A Short Note On Risk Of Mobile Apps Risk of Mobile apps Everyday more and more people are spending time on downloading mobile applications, since many applications are free, or at little cost. Nearly 11 billion mobile apps were downloaded in 2013, according to IDC (International Data Corporation) [1]. The personal data collection by those mobile apps can be highly valuable to the third party companies. The report on mobile apps by Appthority showed that 88% of 100 free Android apps from Google Play Store collect IMEI s, while 30% access user s address books and 82% access location tracking. In addition, 57% free iOS (operating system for Apple) collect IMEI/UDID, while 26% access address books and 50% access location tracking (see Appendix A and B for information). Most mobile apps are convenient for users and have become more efficient and handful, such as checking bank account; sending and receiving emails, buying tickets, etc. Most of the time users don t realize that those apps can open doors for malware stealing sensitive data and infect the mobile and internal networks, though. A number of enterprise IT leaders are concerned about employees bringing their own mobile device into organizations and connecting them to corporate networks, software, or accessing information, also called bring your own device ( BYOD or BYO). BYOD can highly increase liability for those companies. Therefore, IT leaders are trying to fill those significant gaps by bringing forth Mobile Device Management (MDM), Mobile ... Not knowing what I wanted to do, I was influenced by my advisor to enter the biology field. After my third year, I decided not to pursue biology anymore, and that s when I discovered my passion for the Psychology field. After receiving my undergrad in psychology, I knew that I wanted to get my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, but I had no idea of how broad this area is. This week assignment granted me the opportunity to interview someone who has been in this profession for 25 plus years who has worked in all sectors when it comes to mental health counseling. It allowed me to learn the pros and cons of this field and it even gave me more insight and clarity on exactly what I wanted to do. I found this week assignment to be very informative and I believe it is necessary for anyone that s interesting in entering in this field. I am grateful for the knowledge and advice that I received during this week assignment. The Great Gatsby proves as a critical social history of New York in the Roaring Twenties, giving us insight into the actions of the people during this time. We also notice the difference in actions based on social class. Fitzgerald wished to show these societies and social classes through the development of Gatsby s story. If the novel were written in today s time, the characters would change drastically depending on their social class. The roles of new and old money would differ because of the newfound appreciation of the newly rich and the sudden distain for inherited wealth, something that contrasts the views of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People of the middle class in America look to those of new money for a hope of economic prosperity. New money shows that with hard work and dedication, ones work can pay off. Most celebrities of today s time grew up poor or of lower class but worked their way up to attain their wealth. This is the epitome of new money. Because of this, many people look up to celebrities because they believe that one day, they will be able to achieve new money too. This relates to The Great Gatsby. The people in the Valley of Ashes looked up to those living in East and West Egg as hope to someday be as wealthy as them. This hope of the American Dream is not found with money that was passed down through generations. Old money is unreachable; it is only the reality for a miniscule percentage of the United States. This is why today, new money is valued. People of generational money tend to ostracize those who aren t on the same economic level as them, whereas individuals who worked for their wealth are likely to be down to earth, as they have experienced hardships making their money. This idea relates to Tom Buchanan and how he belittles Gatsby, whereas Gatsby uses his experiences he learned from growing up in North Dakota to better the people around him. People have noticed the work gone into making money in the modern era and the actions of both old and new money. New ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Did Rousseau Influence The Relationship Between The... Eighteenth century philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau influenced many French revolutionaries with his ideas. In the time of the Enlightenment, people believed that humankind could progress and improve through the use of reason and science. One of them was French artist Jacques Louis David, who was official artist to the French revolution (p158, Blk 3). Just as Rousseau had used his publications to reflect on his ideas, David had used art as a media to reflect the ideas and values of the society in the eighteenth century. As the particular will is a product of appetite and the general will a product of reason, we should obey the general will which makes us noble and good. Rousseau argues that when a man acts on his particular will, he is slavish to his appetite and that makes him a stupid, limited animal. Whereas, when he adopts the general will, he is being an ennobled, intelligent being. In the painting, the brothers offer their lives on behalf of the country. In doing so, they are sacrificing their personal desires for the sake of their country and are thus considered heroes, reflecting Rousseau s views. This painting is divided into three equal parts by the arches in the background and the characters correspond to each of these arches (TV12). The father is in the middle portion of the painting. The lines of perspective created by the tiled floor, draws our attention to the swords that the father is holding and the vanishing point lies just behind the handles of the sword. Our angle of vision is such that we are looking directly at the main figures groups, particularly the father. A single light source from the left of the picture illuminates the characters and also focuses our attention to the father holding the sword. This creates a theatrical effect. The background is simple and stark so our attention is focussed on the figure groups in the painting. The painting has a wide tonal range that makes the composition logical and balanced. Whether it means joining a group of people with the same interests, religious beliefs, or ethnicity, people tend to cling to those who relatively have the same characteristics. This can simply be observed in a high school cafeteria, most notably separating groups by athletic or academic interests, within these groups, each person is taking action to be more liked by each of its members. Although a majority of groups are not extremists, the ones that are, thrive because of social influence and the need to belong. • 13. An Investigation Of Donation Filtration By Saher Shaikh... Today, we have a growing number of unfortunate individuals within our society that need our help, and with that increasing number our charities and nonprofit organizations need help. A nonprofit organization is an organization with the purpose of which is something other than making a profit. A charity is voluntarily giving such like money to the ones in need. With a wide variety of choices to pick from to help the unfortunate they also need help in choosing who to donate too. In an article Where Does All the Money Go? An Investigation of Donation Filtration by Saher Shaikh and Carolan McLarney, they will remind us that it s never too early to teach one to do a good deed. On the other hand, authors Christopher Blattman, and Paul Niehaus write Show them the Money: Why Giving Cash Helps Alleviate Poverty, in this article they ponder if giving livestock such like food is better for the needy than giving cash to help them get by. There are many families that wouldn t mind receiving the food assistance, there are many who need the financial help. As these authors point out helping the needy can be a big task to take on with a big accomplishment to fill, and now there are many choices to donate too, but with the help of today s society that accomplishment of helping the needy can be met. Many may be quick to say that learning to help the unfortunate can t be taught after a certain point in life, or that only the rich and fortunate ones can donate. In an article written by ... • 14. The Assessment Of Osborne And Waters In statistical tests, we must rely on assumptions regarding the variables we used in the analysis. If these assumptions are not met we may arrive at results that are incorrect, or not representative of the population, typically due to a Type I or a Type II error, or an over or under estimation of significance or effect size. Osborne and Waters (n.d., p. 1) quote an 1997 article by Pedhazur stating Knowledge and understanding of the situations when violations of assumptions lead to serious biases, and when they are of little consequence, are essential to meaningful data analysis which while a very important point, really only holds importance when researchers test assumptions, an important step in data analysis that is rarely performed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These tests give researchers information about normality, while the K S tests provide inferential statistics on normality. One of the best tests for outliers is a visual inspection of histograms, as well as frequency distributions or converting data to z scores. The removal of univariate and bivariate outliers can reduce the probability of Type I and Type II errors, which improve the accuracy of some estimates. It is important to consider that removing outliers is not always desirable, in which case transformations can improve normality. This can complicate the interpretation of the results, and therefore should only be used deliberately and in an informed manner. To accurately estimate the relationship between dependent and independent variables using standard multiple regression, these relationships must be linear in nature. This is why it is so important to examine analyses for non linear data, as non linear data will result in a regression analysis that under estimates the true relationship. Under estimation carries some risk, in particular an increased chance of Type II errors for the independent variable, and in the case of multiple regression, an increased risk of Type I errors (over estimation) for other independent variables that share variance with that variable. There are a few primary ways to detect non linearity in the data. The use of theory or previous research can be used to inform current analyses, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This response will assess the significance of the author s goal in this chapter and discuss the methods he employs to achieve it. Ultimately, by looking at this small aspect of the war in Vietnam, one can gain a much deeper understanding of the unique and complex individuals involved. In this chapter, Glasser s goal seems to be two fold: 1) to shed light on the physical sacrifices and acts of bravery committed by medics and 2) to illustrate the unique psychological effects of the war on army medics. More specifically, Glasser makes the argument that medics were motivated to risk their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explains that the psychological effect of the war on medics (as is evident from these stories) was so substantial, that they army reduced their required term of service from 12 to 7 months. Completely consumed by their roles as protectors and saviors, medics often limited their own food so that they could carry more medical supplies. They stole extra plasma to bring into battle and even asked their family members to send them additional medical supplies. In truth, the sacrificial behavior of medics was so predictable that the Viet Cong intentionally wounded (rather than killed) American soldiers in an attempt to lure nearby medics into the line of fire. Ultimately, this chapter is extremely significant because it provides added nuance to the reader s understanding of the war and tells stories of bravery and sacrifice that might have otherwise been forever lost to history. Although the soldiers of Vietnam tend to be portrayed as poorly trained and unruly, Glasser exposes this mistaken generalization in his treatment of army medics. Thus, the reader is granted an intimate glimpse into an aspect of the Vietnam War that is rarely discussed in history courses or popular discourse. In this respect, chapter 3 offers the best contribution to Glasser s overall goal of preserving the memories of those who served in Vietnam, a war which is all to often over generalized or ignored ... The discussions would last about three quarters of a period, and they would go nowhere because nobody could agree whether it was a good or bad thing to do. I would always be in the middle of the debate because, I believed that it was a good thing. I am for animal experimentation because it has revolutionized the medical field, regulates the overpopulation of certain animal species in the environment, and follows a certain set of laws set by the Animal Welfare Act. The first reason I support animal experimentation is because it has revolutionized the medical field. For thousands of years there have been reports of animal experimentation throughout the courses of history. Ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle (384 322 B.C.E.) observed and manipulated numerous animals, establishing that mammals in particular resembled humans to the extent that they could act as stand ins. A variety of historians, such as Joan Kelly and Merry E. Weisner, believe that women didn t experience any form of a Renaissance during this period. As a result, women didn t have a renaissance in terms of the way people regarded them, as attitudes regarding women from the middle ages continued right through the Renaissance. The second area that saw the littlest change for women in the Renaissance was the expectations that came with their social status. Overall women were deemed to be a lower class in terms of gender, and men often treated them with less respect as a result. Within social classes, stereotypical beliefs regarding women and their role were held. Lower class women were expected to be housewives and take care of everything to do with the house. The expectation of working class women, however, was slightly different. They were expected to work for their husbands and help them run their business, although they couldn t partake in any of the work by themselves or outside of the house. However, this different expectation wasn t necessarily new and was upheld from previous times, supporting this idea of women not receiving a Renaissance in the area of social class. Hector Berlioz is a French composer, a microcosm of the romantic era. Symphony Fantastique is a quintessential example of romantic programmatic music. It is a novel, unlike poetry. It is free of structural form; based on Berlioz being under the influence and remembering of an unattainable woman. There are five movements; his first tempers his depression, his love and jealousy which then rage to religious consolation. The second movement is about his encounter with her at ball. The third movement consists of him seeking peace while wandering in the countryside only to have her disrupt his peace. There is a slow introduction; you get a sense of longing in the music suggesting that Berlioz is feeling sad before he saw his lady friend. The symphony plays a slow introduction in a classical sonata style. The muted strings play a sort of veiled tune and it fits Berlioz s romantic spirit. The orchestra gives off a dreamlike condition and the melody provides a sense of loneliness, and despair, a description of how Berlioz feels. The key it is being played in is C minor. Theme Of Death In The Epic Of Gilgamesh The Mesopotamian understanding of death is uniquely different from modern understandings in that the Mesopotamians lacked a belief in their own free will.
