The Advantage Of The Media And Social Media
What about the media? Media disability is another advantage. Incumbents are linked to every media
outlet, the television, radio, internet, and social media. Technology is the biggest platform in this day
and era. A study by Pew Research Center concluded that 62 percent of U.S. adults obtain their new on
social media. Incumbents can reach every audience, young, middle aged, the elder as well as those
who come from different backgrounds.
Ever wondered where incumbents get the money from to constantly send flyers to your house or the
ones that get put in your windshield or doorknob? We witness and experience this all the time during
election time. They have franking privilege. Franking privilege is when lawmakers send certain mails
to their voters without payments of postage. However, the only people that are allowed this privilege
are members of Congress and the Vice President. The sitting president does not.
Incumbents also have access to a lot of resources once they ve established a strong support system.
For example, voter catalogs and contact information. The catalog consists of all parties who are
registered to vote, the party they favor, telephone number and district. It is vital and big deal for
candidates to have this information because they can contact and pursue those to vote for them. Not
everyone incumbent or candidate is fortunate to acquire this information.
Finally, amongst all the other advantages, incumbents have the advantage of patronage and casework.

Gunpowder Plot Analysis
Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare that was published in 1623. The Gunpowder
Plot of November 5, 1605 was an attempt to assassinate King James the I of England. The Gunpowder
Plot of 1605 and Shakespeare s Macbeth seem to be unrelated at first, but upon closer analyzation, the
two are closely related. The two are related because of the influence that the Gunpowder Plot had on
the plot of Macbeth. The themes of high treason, conspiracy and execution are themes from the
Gunpowder plot that influenced the plot of Macbeth.
The Gunpowder Plot was a plan to kill King James I of England. Assassinating the King of England is
bad enough, but conspirators did not stop there. The conspirators also wanted to kill the queen, her
first born son, and members of parliament (source: Britannica). The Gunpowder Plot was lead by
Robert Catesby and included four other conspirators. The four other conspirators were Thomas
Winter,Thomas Percy, John Wright, and Guy Fawkes. All of the conspirators were zealous Roman
Catholics angered by James s refusal to grant more religious toleration to Catholics. The conspirators
wanted English Catholics to take over England after the King and his parliament were out of the
picture.
The conspirators of the Gunpowder Plot wanted to (literally) blow up King James and his parliament
members. Conspirators were going to do so by igniting kegs of powder under the room that parliament
was going to meet in with the King. The conspirators rented a cell under where parliament was to
meet. Then, during the summer of 1605 the conspirators smuggled kegs of gunpowder into the rented
room. As the plot progressed more conspirators needed to be recruited. The additional conspiracy
members were: Robert Wintour, Christopher Wright, Francis Tresham, Everard Digby, Ambrose
Rookwood, Thomas Bates, Robert Keyes, Hough Owens, and John Grant
(www.historylearningsite.co.uk).
The day before the kegs of gunpowder were set to be ignited, the plot was discovered. The plot was
discovered, in the official version, through an anonymous letter to Lord Monteagle, a Catholic,
warning him not to attend the State Opening. Whether the letter was genuine or a forgery is uncertain.
In any event, on the 4 November

Alcatraz Monologue
Nervous, yes so dreadfully nervous I have been sitting here buying my time to get out of this
corroding, treacherous, and monstrous hell of a cell that i have called home for too many a night. But
first let s start at the beginning shall I. After I killed that old man, I believe his name was Bob Gray
and he liked to dress like a clown, called himself pennywise, scary. Anyway I was shipped to Alcatraz
The Rock Island, home of Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, and The Birdman. The night was cold and
dreary and I, Frank Morris, had just been shipped to Alcatraz and tossed into my cold hard cell next to
a man named John Anglin and his brother Clarence Anglin. Here I could sense everything. I could
hear the slamming of the cell doors and the waves smashing against the rocky shores of this Hell on
Earth that is this island. I could smell the fumes of the chemicals that burns my nose as they clean this
wretched isles of Alcatraz. I tasted the dirt that curses the air with a brown tint and a foul, bitter and
malicious taste. I could see the dauntless guard who fear nothing and risk their lives against us cons
and murderers alike. What I felt was the worst of all. I felt the steel bars that had been chipped away at

Within a couple of weeks Emily Bell and Sam Border get close. Sam learns how to trust people. He
finds out that there is good in people, but if you want to find it, you must dig deep.
Emily Bell invited Sam to dinner to get to know him a little bit more. When Sam showed up he didn t

and Riddle had never really had friends. They were always taking the alley ways to get from place to
place avoiding anyone they could. Now since they met the Bell s they became familiar with actual
human contact, other than each others.
Sam and Riddle learn about trust. They spend many nights with the Bell s. Mrs. Bell and Mr. Bell love
and nurture the boys. Their dad never did any of what the Bell s did. Their dad, Clarence Border, is a
criminal. Once he commits a crime it s back on the road for the small barely holding up family.
Clarence Border commits many small crimes in the town before he packs the boys up and vanishes

Jesus Crucifixion
Anthony Liccione once said, Unto the Cross came death, and unto death came the Cross. This quote
relates to the poem, The Dream of The Rood because it talks about the story of how Jesus crucifixion.
In the poem states, It seemed to me that I saw a more wonderful tree lifted in the air, wound round
with light, the brightest of beams. This symbolizes that he has stumbled across the Tree of Life
mentioned in the Bible. Adam and Eve ate an apple off this tree even though God had forbidden it.
The tree the poem was glorious on one side with gems and beauty; however, the other side showed a
different face of Christ . The side of judgement and how mankind treated him and crucified him for
living a religion filled life. The poem mentions that the tree was cut down from the edge of the wood,

end the pain, he endured it insure that the people who followed him even in this moment would be

Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem Analysis
The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) is one of the largest virtually intact temperate zone
ecosystems on Earth with 34,375 square miles of wildlife, vegetation, rivers, lakes, hydrothermal
features, and geological wonders (National Park Service (NPS), n.d.). (See Figure 1). Yellowstone
National Park (YNP) is the heart of the GYE. The park was created in 1872 and encompasses
approximately 3,500 square miles of habitat protection and sanctuary in portions of Idaho (ID),
Montana (MT), and Wyoming (WY) with the largest concentration of wildlife in the lower 48 states.
Among these species of wildlife are bison (Bison bison). YNP is the only location in the United States
(U.S.) where bison have continually roamed since the prehistoric era. ... Show more content on

The NPS (n.d.) considers the protection and recovery of the bison in YNP as one of the greatest
triumphs in the history of American conservation. Bison were nearly exterminated in the nineteenth
century, calling for species preservation in the 1880 s (Lavigne, 2002). In 1901, a recorded low of 23
bison roamed YNP, to a high of almost 5,000 bison in 2005 (Treanor, et al., 2010). Today, the bison
populations throughout YNP are the center of conflicts and controversy among the public and
management agencies. They are under strict management guidelines that prevent them from roaming
free outside of the park. The four main reasons they are restricted to YNP: competition with livestock
for grasslands, concerns for human safety, potential property damage, and most significantly the
potential transmission of brucellosis (Brucella abortus) to area livestock. Bison, as well as, elk (Cervus
elaphus) are infected with the livestock disease, brucellosis. Brucellosis is an extremely contagious
bacterial disease that can cause abortions in livestock and wildlife, as well as, other substantial
complications (White, et al., 2011). These complication make brucellosis management in bison and
elk throughout the GYE one of the most complex and contentious wildlife management issues in
North America (Colligan,

Irony In How Stories Came To Earth
Some tricks take place simply for fun or to mess with an individual, but others require more thought in
order to achieve a great reward. Regardless of the intentions, playing tricks are not nice because no
one enjoys being fooled. In one of three trickster tales titled, How Stories Came to Earth, retold by
Kaleki, a spider named Kwaku Anansi tricks four different creature, in order to receive stories from
the sky god, Nyame. In another tale, Coyote Steals Fire retold by Richard Erdoes and Alfonso Ortiz, a
coyote tricks a god like person named Thunder into giving up his rock of fire. In the final story,
Master Cat: Puss in Boots, written by Charles Perrault, the cat tricks the king and his daughter into
believing that the cat s master ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One method of trickery, in the story, is cheating. Coyote cheats during the game of dice, which he
plays with his uncle, Thunder. The narrator better explains Coyote s system of cheating when the text
reads, Now, Coyote is the trickiest fellow alive. He is the master at cheating at all kinds of
games....Thunder was no match for Coyote when it came to cheating (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). Coyote
purposely makes Thunder lose so that he can win and receive the fire. Coyote also tricks Thunder
when he distracts him during their intense game of dice. Coyote makes Thunder blink so that Coyote
can switch the dice around without Thunder seeing. The story clearly explains this process of trickery
by saying, He distracted Thunder and made him blink. Then, quick as a flash, he took a counting stick
away from Thunder s pile and added it to his own (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). Coyote messes with the
score, so that by the end of the game Thunder is losing by a significant amount. The last way Coyote
tricks Thunder occurs when, Coyote sheds the outer part of his body, and runs away with his vital
organs. Thunder believes that Coyote is lying on the ground, so he throws the rock of fire at his outer
body, but obviously it does no harm to Coyote. The narrator describes the trick by saying, Coyote
could pull the outer part of his body off....Thunder picked up the huge rock containing fire and hurled
it at what he thought was Coyote (Erdoes and Ortiz). Thunder believes he kills Coyote, when he
simply gives Coyote the prize he longs for the whole time. Similar to Anansi, Coyote accomplishes his
goal of stealing the fire away from Thunder by using various methods

A Brief Look at Queen Elizabeth I
Many people, in England, believe that there has always been one queen to stand above the rest. That
queen was Elizabeth the 1st. She has made many accomplishments during her reign. From a
compromise about what religion England would follow to defeating the Spanish Armada.
Elizabeth was born September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. She was the daughter of King Henry
VII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth had a half sister from the king s first wife, Catherine
of Aragon, and also had a half brother from the king s third wife, Jane Seymour. When Elizabeth was
only two her father had her mother executed for suspicion of adultery. When her father decided to
have Elizabeth s mother executed, he then stripped Elizabeth of her title as princess.
In 1553 Elizabeth s half brother, Edward, died at the age of nine. Shortly after, Elizabeth s half sister
took the throne. Her name was Mary. Mary caused many problems for England. Mary believed that
England should follow one religion and anyone who did not follow this religion would be executed.
Mary was Catholic. She later got the nickname bloody Mary because she killed so many Protestants.
This caused a problem for Elizabeth because she was Protestant. Many people who did not believe the
Catholic faith thought that Elizabeth was the rightful ruler and plotted against Mary. The leader of this
plot was named Thomas Wyatt. He was organizing a rebellion and soon Mary found out of this plan.
She then had Elizabeth imprisoned in

Comparing Eveline And The Storm
Since the dawn of the Age of Enlightenment, feminism became an ideology and movement that
inspired feminist to establish equal political, economic, cultural and social rights for women.
However, during its first years, women are restrained by the power of men that they cannot have their
own happiness. Particularly in English literature, such as the short story Eveline by James Joyce and
The Storm by Kate Chopin, both authors demonstrate a different type of female character at their time
that follow through the generic cycle of women being the property of men, as well as their response to
the feudal society of male dominance. In Eveline , Eveline is a 19 years old girl with tedious and
miserable life. Despite her chance to start a new life with Frank in Bueno Ayres, she bail out from the
opportunity and continue her suffering life, therefore loses her chance of being content. On the other

Success Factors And Risks Of The Company
Success factors and risks Even though AB InBev is the largest beer producer in the world they are still
focused on a growth oriented model. This has lead management to pursue a merger agreement with
MillerCoors, the second largest beer producer in the world. The resulting company will be a mega
brewery, responsible for 30% of the world s beer production (Bray, 2016). Management seems to be
confident that the merger with MillerCoors will increase sales and efficiency in the long run because
they are issuing out long term debt to help finance the project. The next three years will be interesting
as the company prepares the budget to accommodate the extensive 1 billion dollar plus cost of the
merger (Mickle, 2016). Even after the merger is complete the return on the investment make take a

The Nsa s National Security Agency
The National Security Agency s (NSA) warrantless collection of metadata has been questioned on
constitutional grounds. Specifically, the NSA s program has been argued to be in violation of the
Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, which states that all citizens are to be free from any
unreasonable search or seizure. Proponents of the NSA s collection of metadata believe that it is a
crucial tool in preventing terrorist attacks, while opponents of the program believe that its
questionable constitutional validity, along with its lack of clear success in preventing a single terrorist
attack, leaves the NSA s metadata collection program in desperate need of reform or outright
abolishment.
I. THE NSA S PURPOSE AND THE EVOLUTION OF GOVERNMENT SURVEILLANCE It is
important to note what the NSA is tasked to do before discussing the constitutional arguments against
its metadata program. As Abdulmajeed Alhogbani, in his work, Going Dark: Scratching the Surface of
Government Surveillance, informs, the agency has two tasks: 1) information assurance, which
prevents foreign agents from obtaining classified information, and 2) signals intelligence, which
collects and analyzes foreign intelligence (475). Metadata collection does not fall under either of these
tasks.
Prior to the establishment of the National Security Agency in 1952, the earliest surveillance measure
enacted in the United States was the Communications Act of 1934, which centralized the regulatory

Why Was Beethoven Important
Monica Rhein
Final Essay
12/12/15
Why Beethoven? Over the course of this class, one of the main questions that our learning has
consistently traced back to is the question of why we study Beethoven, and why his legacy has stood
the test of time. Regarded as a musical pioneer, Beethoven revolutionized the Classical era, and his
experimental capabilities and distinguishable sound paved the way for the Romantic era. Although he
composed almost 650 pieces, it is universally understood that Beethoven is revered as far more than a
composer. Rather, Beethoven s legacy is that of a performer, a poet, an icon of his time and a
precursor of the future. In this essay, I will discuss the aspects of Beethoven that most strongly compel
the study of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beethoven s childhood was arguably one of the most fascinating and influential periods of his life.
Young Ludwig was raised by an abusive alcoholic father and a neglectful mother. His father, Johan
Van Beethoven, was also his musical mentor, and never actualized Beethoven s potential as a musician
(1). His mother, Maria Magdalena Kerevich, often sent him to school looking so disheveled that
classmates assumed he had no mother (Suchet pg. 21). Despite her neglect, Beethoven spoke very
highly of his mother, and said that she taught him to give back to the world despite what it may have
neglected to give him (1). This empathetic spirit is visible in his music as well, especially during his
compositional period called The End of an Era. This was debatably the darkest time of Beethoven s
life, as he was completely deaf, depressed, and in a dry spell of composing (1). His brother had also
just been diagnosed with a terminal illness, so he took custody of his nephew Karl, a relationship so
tension filled that Karl attempted suicide in 1826 (3). At this time, one would expect Beethoven to
write music expressive of such hardship, but instead he composed some of his most delightful and
uplifting pieces such as Irish folksongs

Essay on Raphael Sanzio s Life and Accomplishments
Raffaello Sanzio was an amazing artist from the late 1400 s to the early 1500 s, who created many
amazing paintings that helped change the style of medieval art to Renaissance art. Without him, the
style of art now would most likely be more primitive and not as advanced as it should be. This is
because he made many advances including more realistic painting. His most important paintings
include The School Of Athens , the Sistine Madonna , and the Marriage of the Virgin . Not only are
those some of his most famous paintings, they also show the realisticness that changed the world.
Raffaello Sanzio had a very interesting young life. He was born in Urbino, which at the time was a
cultural center that encouraged the arts. The arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was his apprentice at the town of Perugia. Since Perugino was a master painter this greatly
influenced Raphael s young life and encouraged him to become an artist. Raphael, before exiting
apprenticeship, made a few amazing paintings. These include the Mond Crucifixion, The Three
Graces, The Knight s Dream, and The Marriage of the Virgin, which I will mention later.
Raphael made many very detailed paintings. My choices for his most contributing paintings are The
School of Athens, The Sistine Madonna, and The Marriage of The Virgin. They were just a few of the
many amazing paintings that Raphael has painted. The School of Athens was possibly Raphael s most

Golden Age Of Animation
Animation plays an enormous role in the entertainment industry today. The Global Animation and
Gaming Market is estimated to be worth $242.92 billion (as of 2016), and animated films are the most
profitable of any film genre. This industry has widespread influence amongst all age groups, and the
films produced can span any genre. The industry has seen major changes with the recent advances in
computer generated animation techniques. To fully understand animation, it s important to see where it
began. What is considered animation? That question is more loaded than many believe, as the
definition of animation is still debated today. This allows for some controversy as to what is the first
ever animation. Some believe that the cave painting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time, many classic characters emerged, including Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Superman,
and countless others. Disney released many feature length films during this time, including Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, and Dumbo. Warner Bros cartoons was founded in 1933,
notably allowing their animators more freedom to develop different styles than other studios at the
time. As disney started to make the shift into primarily focusing on feature length films, Warner Bros
continued to focus on making shorts, such as the successful Looney Tunes series. The Golden Age
started to rely more on voice actors to help bring these characters to life, and scores played by studio
orchestras to complete the story. During this time, colored televisions became available to more and
more Americans changing the ways they can receive their entertainment. In 1958 the Huckleberry
Hound Show was the first half an hour television show to feature only animation. This eventually led
to popular cartoons such as The Flintstones, being featured on primetime television. The golden age of
animation came to an end when televised cartoons started to gain large viewerships, and animated
shorts lost their popularity in

Pharmacy Career Research
A pharmacist is a healthcare professional who is an expert on pharmaceutical drugs and how they act
to fight disease and improve the health of the patient. Pharmacists are responsible for the
implementation of drug therapy with the intention of improving the quality of a patient s life. Some
examples of such improvements include curing diseases, reducing or eliminating a patient s
symptoms, slowing the process of a disease, and preventing disease. A pharmacist works with patients

pharmacy may also obtain their MBA. Pharmacy colleges require two years of general pre pharmacy
education. These classes include mathematics and natural sciences such as chemistry, biology, and
physics. Another requirement is courses in humanities and social sciences.
In 2000, the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education named 82 accredited colleges of
pharmacy. Current schools in North Carolina that offer pharmaceutical degrees are University of
North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Wingate University, and Campbell University. Some of these colleges
require that students take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test. All of these colleges offer courses in
pharmacy practice in order to teach the dispensing of drugs, communication skills, and dealing with
other health professionals. Such courses strengthen students understanding of professional ethics and
practice managerial responsibilities. All pharmacists must know the drug laws, assessment skills,
problem solving approaches, and have managerial and communication abilities. Every pharmacist
must obtain a license, however in order to do this they must serve under a licensed pharmacist,
graduate from an accredited college, and pass a state exam. Some states require continued education
for license renewal. For pharmacists there are many areas of graduate study such as pharmaceutics,

Using A Cell Phone While Driving
The best way to get people to think outside the box is not to create the box in the first place
(Actforlibraries, 2016). Innovation understands history to have a firm dedicated vision for the future.
Martin Cooper is known as one of the most innovated people that have changed the world by his
creation of the cell phone. The invention originated as a car phone, but Cooper believed a phone
should be wireless; making it one of the greatest dangerous weapons for killing people (Molella,

Abstract Within this report I will inform you of two diverse educators, Marva Collins and Aristotle,

Marva picked up and moved up north to Chicago after teaching for two years. In Chicago she met
Clarence Collins. A few years later Marva Deloise Nettles became Marva Deloise Collins and she
gave birth to three children: Eric Collins, Patrick Collins, and Cynthia Collins. After getting her life
started, Collins spent fourteen years working as a substitute. Her experiences and the visuals she s
came across did not appeal great to her and it triggered something great within her. Marva Collins
took a big withdraw from her retirement plan and started her very own school in her own home know
as Westside Preparatory School. Her efficacy was outstanding and her accountability showed for it.
Although she only started with a few students, she still taught and helped those student as if she was
sitting in front of an entire classroom of students. Collins let it be known that her school was open to
any and every child who has struggled in any other school system. She took those who were referred
to as retards or mentally challenged and pushed them so they could read at their grade level. It didn t
stop there though she made it to the point they were reading many levels above the expected.
The community and the education loved Marva Collins teaching style so much that they named it after

Clownish Elements In Trickster Tales
People read Trickster Tales many times during their lifetime and although they can be very different
by the means of plot, setting, and characters, they can be tightly interconnected by certain, unnoticed,
hidden elements that we as readers don t think much of as we are reading. The incorporation of these
hidden elements in a story help to form a Trickster Tale, such as humorous/clownish elements, uses of
anthropomorphism, and the characters use of brain over brawn. A story has to contain these elements
to be considered a Trickster Tale and all of the tales are connected through these elements. The
qualities are widely emphasized in the three Trickster Tales provided, as the three characters; Anansi,
Master Cat, and Coyote, possess each of these qualities in their own style. First of all, the use of
humorous/clownish elements is in all Trickster Tales, which the trickster uses to his advantage.
Humorous/clownish elements can be found in, How Stories Came to Earth, as Anansi tricks the other
character by stating, Fool, I am taking you to pay for the sky god s stories. For instance, the trickster,
Anansi, fools the leopard by digging a hole and concealing it to trap the leopard inside, thereby
making the leopard look ridiculous in order to obtain the sky god s stories. More of these elements can
be found in, Coyote Steals Fire, in which Coyote uses all of his resources to the best of his ability as it
is stated that, He distracted Thunder and made him blink. Then,

Challenges of Homosexuals in the 1960’s
Challenges of Homosexuals in the 1960 s
Abstract
Every day homosexuals face challenges that heterosexuals do not. These challenges include people
giving them looks when they are walking down the street while holding hands with a person of the
same sex. They also face challenges in being accepted as a true family, this is because in many states
same sex marriage is deemed illegal. Over the decades people have become more adjusted to
homosexuals in society. In the movie If Walls Could Talk II Segment I there is a lesbian couple who
are very secretive of their relationship because of the fear of being misjudged. In the time period that
the movie took place people who were gay were look down upon in society. During the movie Abby

The definition of family is a group consisting of one to two parents and their children. This definition
does not say that the parents have to be one male and one female. There are many families that consist
of two female parents or two male and parent and children; you rarely saw this in the 1960s but today
you seemed to see this type of family more frequently.
This film also proved effective that if same sex marriage was legal then Edith would not have had to
face Ted taking her house and her belongings. Once Abby passed away Edith was faced with the fact
that Abby did not have a will that said that the house would be passed onto Edith. Ted; her closest
living relative was to be given all of Abby s belongings by law. If same sex marriage was deemed
legal during that time Edith would rightfully have possession of all of Abby s belongings including the
house. This would also allow Edith to have been able to see Abby before she died because she would
be deemed a family member. They proved this effective because they showed that in the hospital that
even if Edith would have said that she and Abby were together she would still have not been able to
see her legally. The movie also proved this by showing that technically Edith did not have any right to
the house because the mortgage was not in her name regardless of her paying half of the mortgage.
This gave Ted the rightful ownership of the house.

Phoebe Gloeckner s The Diary Of A Teenage Girl
In Phoebe Gloeckner s The Diary of a Teenage Girl we are introduced to the titular character, Minnie
Goetze who presents her narrative in diary form and illustrates her interactions, observations and
feelings about the world around her, which is a libertine society in 1976, in San Francisco. Minnie s
person is sometimes used a lens as through which we view the events in the story and other times, it is
her experiencing the events. Her narrative offers a lot of varying factors that are all a part of her
teenage life as she matures and comes to understand the others around her, especially the adults she
often views as not quite brilliant as she had initially thought. A prevalent factor that is shown
throughout Minnie s narrative is the expectations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her friends are often seen committing felonies, like her friend Chuck who has a fake ID to drive and
says he steals cars as well, although Minnie believes this is a lie to make himself appear better (p. 29).
There is also an instance when Minnie and Kimmie are drunk and decide to pose as prostitutes and let
men buy them drinks in exchange for sex, although they feel regretful the next day and promised each
other to never do anything like it again. (p. 235) A major theme within the book is Minnie exploring
her sexuality and so at one point, she meets and develops feelings for a girl named Tabatha, who she
eventually begins a short lived and turbulent romance with despite her other friends discouraging her
from pursuing Tabatha. In regards to stereotypes, Minnie later comes to think her friend Chuck is gay
or bisexual because of his affinity for having friends within the LGBT community, though he claims
this is untrue and she believes him when she remembers he still has long hair, and most guys I know
chop it all off as soon as they come out. (p. 239) Minnie herself, does confess to her diary later that
she loves the atmosphere of Polk street which is an entertainment district she hangs out at a lot, stating
I love drugs I love disco music I love fags and dykes and coffee and cigarettes. (p. 268) She also
engages heavily in substance abuse, in the beginning of the book with alcohol and later, with drugs
and develops a short lived addiction to speed. Minnie s mother also displays a lot of alcoholism in her
character, often being seen with a second of third refreshed drink, and letting her daughter drink as
well. Monroe displays the same qualities as he often prefers staying in with vodka (p. 30) and has no
issue with Minnie drinking underage. These experiences shape Minnie s carefree and free spirited

Examples Of Internal Conflict In The Blind Side
A. Michael Oher is a complex character, this is mostly due to the fact that he speaks very little, and so
in order to understand him better we must look at his actions. In the movie After watching the movie
The Blind Side it is easy for one to see that at the beginning of the film Michael struggles with internal
conflict, specifically about school and his living arrangement with the Touy family. The first time we
see Michael really open up about his internal conflicts is when we hear his poem entitled White Walls
, in this poem Michael talks about how he does not want to listen to the teachers and that he feels out

Equality can be defined as equal opportunity for all, but more often than not there are people in life
who have more or less opportunities than others. Michael comes from a different culture than the Touy
s, as he was raised in the projects where there is more gang violence, more poverty, and a lower
standard of education. The Touy s on the other hand live in what can be considered the wealthy part of
town, they live in a big home and the children attend a high class private school. To each of them the
way they live is their cultural norm, but to the other it s unconventional. Michael was raised at a
disadvantage compared to the Touy s because of the culture he grew up in. One key moment we find
out the Michael has a clear disadvantage is when we find out that all of his past teachers have just
given him passing grades, so that they did not have to deal with him anymore, if he had the same
cultural background as the Touy s, or even just gone to better school s there would have been someone

opportunities as the Touy s or even as the rest of the kids at his new school, because of the cultural

A Decade of Change for Women

better world are components of the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and the Divergent series by
Veronica Roth. Beatrice Prior is a strong willed, daring protagonist of the Divergent Series. Her life
changes when she discovers that she is Divergent. Meaning that she has an unusual mindset that
cannot be constricted to one way of reasoning. The government leaders view Beatrice, or Tris as a
threat to society because of this. Comparable to Tris, Katniss Everdeen is the leading character of the
Hunger Games. She proved to be bold and selfless when she put her life at risk for her younger sister
Primrose. In both the Hunger Games and Divergent, the mighty female heroines are giving way to a
new role for young women rather than the traditional damsel in distress. These two novels give
women a voice, and express the importance of thinking for one s self. Katniss from the Hunger Games
rejects the gender roles of her society. She is not a healer or a seamstress. She is a hunter, a role
usually reserved for men. Katniss started providing for her family at the early age of twelve, after her
father passed away. She declares that she doesn t want to get married or have children. According to

Incumbents are linked to every media outlet, the television, radio, internet, and social media. Technology is the biggest platform in this day and era. A study by Pew Research Center concluded that 62 percent of U.S. adults obtain their new on social media. Incumbents can reach every audience, young, middle aged, the elder as well as those who come from different backgrounds. Ever wondered where incumbents get the money from to constantly send flyers to your house or the ones that get put in your windshield or doorknob? We witness and experience this all the time during election time. They have franking privilege. Franking privilege is when lawmakers send certain mails to their voters without payments of postage. However, the only people that are allowed this privilege are members of Congress and the Vice President. The sitting president does not. Incumbents also have access to a lot of resources once they ve established a strong support system. For example, voter catalogs and contact information. The catalog consists of all parties who are registered to vote, the party they favor, telephone number and district. It is vital and big deal for candidates to have this information because they can contact and pursue those to vote for them. Not everyone incumbent or candidate is fortunate to acquire this information. Finally, amongst all the other advantages, incumbents have the advantage of patronage and casework. ... • 5. Gunpowder Plot Analysis Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare that was published in 1623. The Gunpowder Plot of November 5, 1605 was an attempt to assassinate King James the I of England. The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 and Shakespeare s Macbeth seem to be unrelated at first, but upon closer analyzation, the two are closely related. The two are related because of the influence that the Gunpowder Plot had on the plot of Macbeth. The themes of high treason, conspiracy and execution are themes from the Gunpowder plot that influenced the plot of Macbeth. The Gunpowder Plot was a plan to kill King James I of England. Assassinating the King of England is bad enough, but conspirators did not stop there. The conspirators also wanted to kill the queen, her first born son, and members of parliament (source: Britannica). The Gunpowder Plot was lead by Robert Catesby and included four other conspirators. The four other conspirators were Thomas Winter,Thomas Percy, John Wright, and Guy Fawkes. All of the conspirators were zealous Roman Catholics angered by James s refusal to grant more religious toleration to Catholics. The conspirators wanted English Catholics to take over England after the King and his parliament were out of the picture. The conspirators of the Gunpowder Plot wanted to (literally) blow up King James and his parliament members. Conspirators were going to do so by igniting kegs of powder under the room that parliament was going to meet in with the King. The conspirators rented a cell under where parliament was to meet. Then, during the summer of 1605 the conspirators smuggled kegs of gunpowder into the rented room. As the plot progressed more conspirators needed to be recruited. The additional conspiracy members were: Robert Wintour, Christopher Wright, Francis Tresham, Everard Digby, Ambrose Rookwood, Thomas Bates, Robert Keyes, Hough Owens, and John Grant (www.historylearningsite.co.uk). The day before the kegs of gunpowder were set to be ignited, the plot was discovered. The plot was discovered, in the official version, through an anonymous letter to Lord Monteagle, a Catholic, warning him not to attend the State Opening. Whether the letter was genuine or a forgery is uncertain. In any event, on the 4 November ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anyway I was shipped to Alcatraz The Rock Island, home of Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, and The Birdman. The night was cold and dreary and I, Frank Morris, had just been shipped to Alcatraz and tossed into my cold hard cell next to a man named John Anglin and his brother Clarence Anglin. Here I could sense everything. I could hear the slamming of the cell doors and the waves smashing against the rocky shores of this Hell on Earth that is this island. I could smell the fumes of the chemicals that burns my nose as they clean this wretched isles of Alcatraz. I tasted the dirt that curses the air with a brown tint and a foul, bitter and malicious taste. Bison were nearly exterminated in the nineteenth century, calling for species preservation in the 1880 s (Lavigne, 2002). In 1901, a recorded low of 23 bison roamed YNP, to a high of almost 5,000 bison in 2005 (Treanor, et al., 2010). Today, the bison populations throughout YNP are the center of conflicts and controversy among the public and management agencies. They are under strict management guidelines that prevent them from roaming free outside of the park. The four main reasons they are restricted to YNP: competition with livestock for grasslands, concerns for human safety, potential property damage, and most significantly the potential transmission of brucellosis (Brucella abortus) to area livestock. Bison, as well as, elk (Cervus elaphus) are infected with the livestock disease, brucellosis. Brucellosis is an extremely contagious bacterial disease that can cause abortions in livestock and wildlife, as well as, other substantial complications (White, et al., 2011). Coyote purposely makes Thunder lose so that he can win and receive the fire. Coyote also tricks Thunder when he distracts him during their intense game of dice. Coyote makes Thunder blink so that Coyote can switch the dice around without Thunder seeing. The story clearly explains this process of trickery by saying, He distracted Thunder and made him blink. Thunder believes that Coyote is lying on the ground, so he throws the rock of fire at his outer body, but obviously it does no harm to Coyote. The narrator describes the trick by saying, Coyote could pull the outer part of his body off....Thunder picked up the huge rock containing fire and hurled it at what he thought was Coyote (Erdoes and Ortiz). • 17. The Nsa s National Security Agency The National Security Agency s (NSA) warrantless collection of metadata has been questioned on constitutional grounds. Specifically, the NSA s program has been argued to be in violation of the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, which states that all citizens are to be free from any unreasonable search or seizure. Proponents of the NSA s collection of metadata believe that it is a crucial tool in preventing terrorist attacks, while opponents of the program believe that its questionable constitutional validity, along with its lack of clear success in preventing a single terrorist attack, leaves the NSA s metadata collection program in desperate need of reform or outright abolishment. I. THE NSA S PURPOSE AND THE EVOLUTION OF GOVERNMENT SURVEILLANCE It is important to note what the NSA is tasked to do before discussing the constitutional arguments against its metadata program. As Abdulmajeed Alhogbani, in his work, Going Dark: Scratching the Surface of Government Surveillance, informs, the agency has two tasks: 1) information assurance, which prevents foreign agents from obtaining classified information, and 2) signals intelligence, which collects and analyzes foreign intelligence (475). Metadata collection does not fall under either of these tasks. Prior to the establishment of the National Security Agency in 1952, the earliest surveillance measure enacted in the United States was the Communications Act of 1934, which centralized the regulatory process of ... Over the course of this class, one of the main questions that our learning has consistently traced back to is the question of why we study Beethoven, and why his legacy has stood the test of time. Regarded as a musical pioneer, Beethoven revolutionized the Classical era, and his experimental capabilities and distinguishable sound paved the way for the Romantic era. Although he composed almost 650 pieces, it is universally understood that Beethoven is revered as far more than a composer. Rather, Beethoven s legacy is that of a performer, a poet, an icon of his time and a precursor of the future. Beethoven s childhood was arguably one of the most fascinating and influential periods of his life. Young Ludwig was raised by an abusive alcoholic father and a neglectful mother. His father, Johan Van Beethoven, was also his musical mentor, and never actualized Beethoven s potential as a musician (1). His mother, Maria Magdalena Kerevich, often sent him to school looking so disheveled that classmates assumed he had no mother (Suchet pg. 21). Despite her neglect, Beethoven spoke very highly of his mother, and said that she taught him to give back to the world despite what it may have neglected to give him (1). This empathetic spirit is visible in his music as well, especially during his compositional period called The End of an Era. This was debatably the darkest time of Beethoven s life, as he was completely deaf, depressed, and in a dry spell of composing (1). His brother had also just been diagnosed with a terminal illness, so he took custody of his nephew Karl, a relationship so tension filled that Karl attempted suicide in 1826 (3). At this time, one would expect Beethoven to write music expressive of such hardship, but instead he composed some of his most delightful and uplifting pieces such as Irish folksongs ... Essay on Raphael Sanzio s Life and Accomplishments Raffaello Sanzio was an amazing artist from the late 1400 s to the early 1500 s, who created many amazing paintings that helped change the style of medieval art to Renaissance art. Without him, the style of art now would most likely be more primitive and not as advanced as it should be. This is because he made many advances including more realistic painting. His most important paintings include The School Of Athens , the Sistine Madonna , and the Marriage of the Virgin .
