Essay on Current State of the Republican Party
It was a commonly held belief among the Republican party that Mitt Romney was almost a guaranteed
win in the 2012 presidential election. This view wasn t necessarily because Romney followed
Republican policy to a T but rather because of Obama s disastrous job with the economy in the
previous four years. History was well in the minds of most Republicans in that particular matter since
no president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt had ever won a presidency after the economy had gone
as low as it did and was in a serious struggle to rebound. With this piece of history in the minds of
most Republicans the assumptions was history would continue to repeat itself even if Romeny wasn t

The first such way is in social issues. The traditionally narrow minded view on most social issues has
almost all but gone away and the open mindedness of the american people is more apparent. One of
these issues is gay marriage and the acceptance it has been met by. We see this with certain states that
have already legalized it and in more and more states contemplating proposing gay marriage and
placing it on the ballot. According to a ABC News poll, conservative support for gay marriage has
gone from 10 percent support in 2004 to 19 percent in 2006 and 30 percent currently (Abramowitz).
Another important issue is abortions and the womens right to choose. This has always been an issues
of friction in america but abortion has become more open and a more commonly used option among
women. For women who do not necessarily agree with the practice of abortion they still share the idea
that women should have the right to choose and make decisions that are inherently theirs because it is
their body. Womens rights have always been a debated subject in american and it has only expanded
over the years. Telling women they have no say in their body and their future in the way of having
children is taking a drastic step backwards from the forward moving expansion of rights. Republicans
failed to budge on their view on womens right to choose while the Democrats made it clear they
supported the right to choose. According to exit polls 53 percent of the voters in the 2012 elections

What Is The Broken Window Theory
James Q. Wilson and George Kelling in 1982 developed the idea of the Broken Windows Theory. The
Broken Windows theory was the first study linking minor crime being left unattended to growing into
serious crime. That crime originated from disorder. Wilson and Kelling argued by eliminating
disorder, serious crime will decrease. The types of disorders are explained in further depth. The first
type of disorder is physical disorder. Examples of physical disorder is but not limited to vacant
buildings, broken windows, abandoned vehicles, and vacant lots filled with trash. The second type of
disorder is defined by noise, hostile panhandlers and young adults gathering in groups on corners.
These forms of disorder make the community appear unsafe

How Much Aid Should Wealthy Nations Provide For Developing...
How Much Aid Should Wealthy Nations Provide for Developing Countries? Introduction Politics have
been important throughout history, but in the last century, government has changed a large amount.
With the rise of the standard of living in first world nations, there has been a push to help bring
everyone in the world up to a minimum standard. There have been many perspectives taken on the
issue, and there are many articles for helping and against helping developing nations shown through
political and historical lenses. A key question is how much aid wealthy nations should provide for
developing nations, and how to provide it. Two articles considered this question. The first article deals
with The amount of government, while the second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bandow argues through many perspectives in the political lens, creating a blending of voices that
makes his argument to have less government in developing nations more effective than if he relied on
one perspective alone. Article #2 The other article, Why developing countries get stuck with weak
institutions and how foreign actors can help by Brad Parks, Mark Buntaine, and Benjamin Butch
argues that the incentives given by donors only change cosmetic functions of the institution, rather
than changing actual results. An example is providing aid to improve staffing in an organization to
have people with better qualifications , but not dealing with the corruption in the rest of country, so
better qualified people still can t make things better. Rewarding countries for doing things that are just
cosmetic doesn t accomplish anything, but often gets the reward of more aid. This group wants more
change in the regimes of developing nations, which would lead to actual development. The current
system leads to stagnation of developing countries. The countries put large amount of effort into
achieving cosmetic goals to get the next financial quota, but they are so poor they can t or won t do the
harder steps to achieve real results. They just go for the cheaper option. This was a well crafted
argument, but only having a single piece of evidence to back

What Is HIV
HIV
What is HIV/AIDS?
HIV stands for Human immunodeficiency Virus. This virus weakens a person s ability to fight
infections. During HIV infection, the virus attacks and destroys the infection fighting CD4 cells, a
type white blood cell. The loss of CD4 cells makes it difficult to fight infections, and so, one would be
most susceptible to any and every illness. A person with the loss of 200 and more CD4 cells is said to
have the more advanced stage of the HIV infection, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS.
This is the stage at which all of a person s ability to fight infections is lost.
Having HIV does not always mean that you have AIDS. It can take many years for people with the
virus to develop AIDS. HIV and AIDS cannot be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Talk with your sex partner or partners about their sexual history as well as your own sexual history.

The Defeat Of The Spanish Armada
At the start of the attack, the Spanish Armada made way towards England, but word traveled fast
about their location. When Spain s Armada came into view, there were men off of the coast of England
and Wales ready to make haste to give word of where the Spanish are. In order to spread word of the
arrival, the men lit beacons that sent word to other positions until it finally reached the Queen
(Sharnette). Due to the help also from spies, Queen Elizabeth was able to have inside information
about the idea of what will become of the Spanish idea and it helped England assemble their own
ships for the future encounter ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). In Preparation for the near
hopeful invasion, Queen Elizabeth I started to collect funds to help pay for the necessities needed to
fuel her own improvement to ready her and her men. During this time another campaign was going on,
which consumed most of the funds, but despite that the Queen made all of her efforts towards the
raising money to help prepare for the anticipated encounter with Spain (Sharnette). With the English
fleet becoming more whole and an actual object, they were ready to meet Spain s notorious Armada.
Queen Elizabeth gave the position of commander of the fleet to Charles Howard. Howard had great
success in being in charge due to delaying the launch of the Spanish Armada ( The Defeat of the
Spanish Armada: 1588 ). Philip II of Spain wanted to gain power and restore Catholicism by attacking

Essay On The Purpose Of Siddhartha
The Purpose, The Passion, and The Peace In Herman Hesse s novel, Siddhartha, he reveals One must
find the source within one s own self, one must possess it ( Hesse 5 ) . On his journey to achieve self
enlightenment, Siddhartha struggles to acquire his essential focal point. In several small towns,
gardens, forests, and along a river in India is where Siddhartha goes on a treacherous course and
encounters multiple teachers to whom he learns and obtains knowledge from. In addition to leaving
his parents, he joined a group called The Samanas, where he masters to think, wait, and fast.
Throughout Siddhartha s lifetime, The Samanas, Gotama, and the river were colossal influences that
paved the way for his achieving of self enlightenment. To begin Siddhartha s journey, he unites
himself among the group known as the Samanas where he had to sacrifice what he was for what he
will become. During his three years with the Samanas, his goal was to become empty of thirst, desire,
dreams, pleasure, and sorrow to let Self die ( 11 ). As Siddhartha practiced self denial and meditation,
he soon became various beings of nature, such as a dead jackal on a sandy shore. To become sole with

James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues
James Baldwin brings you on an emotional ride through Harlem in the 1950 s with his short story,
Sonny s Blues. From the beginning, we are in media res when the unnamed narrator is informed of
bad news concerning his younger, troubled brother, Sonny. Throughout the story we witness the ocean
of emotions between these two brothers battling hardships from their past, through flashbacks, and
present time. The setting plays an important role in Sonny s Blues to an extent where it is practically a
character in the story. The city of Harlem is a reminder of their troubles and the suffering it ignites is
exactly what Sonny tries to run away from when he turns to drugs and jazz music. Through the setting
of Sonny s Blues, and the example of the relationship between the narrator and his younger brother,
Sonny, James Baldwin presents how a dark past full of suffering can influence present lives and
relationships.
The sequence of events is not in chronological order since the narrator goes from present, to past, and
back to present in order to illustrate the suffering experienced by both brothers and to emphasize the
impact the past has on the present. During present time, Sonny is sentenced to prison for heroine
abuse. The narrator and Sonny are not close at this time because he doesn t try to understand Sonny
until his little girl dies and he has some of his own suffering to deal with. I was sitting in the living
room in the dark, by myself, and I suddenly thought of Sonny. My

Three Major Eras
From the 13th century to the 18th century the art world has three major eras, Renaissance, Baroque,
and Rococo. Each era has its own characteristics, the development of scientific knowledge has a big
influence on them. When a scientific expression method was taken for the first time, it became a trend
and the same method and expression method were adopted for many art objects. That trend also
became a characteristic of that era. By using scientific knowledge development and analysis, art
objects became more realistic.
In the Renaissance era, the line perspective has been used for paintings since around the 15th century.
The perspective technique developed from architectural industry. Not only was the composition seen
by the eyes, but also the scientific theoretical perspective projection method used for the space
composition of paintings. Holy Trinity drawn by Masaccio of the Renaissance era incorporates
scientific perspectives into the vault part. Another example would be a Mona Lisa. The famous Mona
Lisa drawn by Leonardo da Vinci also uses a scientific way of expression as well. Leonardo da Vinci
used the aerial perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The part where the light is focused, the angle, and the dark part as contrast are highlighted.
Chiaroscuro is also one of features of this era. As an example of Chiaroscuro there is The Nativity
drawn by Geertgen tot Sint Jans. Overall is dark, light is emphasized, light source is also highlighted
with shadows. Which seems really strongly highlighted due to majority of areas are dark. Another
characteristic of the Baroque era is the composition of dynamic movement. The Seven Works of
Mercy painted by Caravaggio is a good example. Besides the light and dark with the light source, I
feel the movement as a whole. Clothing, hair, flames etc. have a feeling of dynamism. I think that this
dynamic movement is also a big characteristic of the Baroque

Grimm Brothers Cinderella
In the famous story of Cinderella, what do you think is the theme or main lesson of Cinderella? The
theme of Cinderella is bad people never succeed and good people will always prevail. The Grimm
Brothers Cinderella presents the theme of the Cinderella Archetype the best. The three different
examples that best present the theme in Grimm Brothers Cinderella are a bird takes out both of the
stepsisters eyes for mistreating Cinderella poorly, making fun of Cinderella and not giving her a dress
, and making Cinderella be their maid and in the end the stepsisters miserably live with no eyes and
with either no heels or no toes.

If you were to compare Charles Perrault with the Grimm Brothers they both wrote in the beginning
that the stepsisters treat her poorly but in the end it is different because in the Grimm Brothers the
sisters get consequences from birds. In the Charles Perrault Cinderella they forgave Cinderella for all
of their wickedness and Cinderella accepts the apologization and gives them lodgings in the palace
and 2 lords of the court. Only in the Grimm Brothers Cinderella, she has to pick up lentils that her
stepsisters throw down for her to pick up. The Charles Perrault Cinderella difference that was stated
affects the theme because since the sisters apologized to Cinderella she gave them a lodging and 2
lords which disagrees with the theme a little bit because the theme states that bad people never
succeed. The first part doesn t work because the stepsisters didn t get a consequence in the Charles
Perrault. In the Grimm Brothers one they did and in the Charles Perrault they got to live in the palace.
Thatt is kind of like succeeding so that crosses out that bad people never succeed but the good people
succeeding still works because in the end Cinderella gets married in both stories. The Cinder Maid and
the Grimm Brothers are amazingly similar. They are

rise of liver enzymes.
Key Words: Dengue in children, hepatomegaly, hepatic dysfunction.
INTRODUCTION
Dengue fever is caused by arthropod born viruses.1 It is the most common mosquito born, arboviral
infection in many tropical and sub tropical regions of the world. The incidence has increased 30 fold
with increasing geographic expansion to new countries and in the present decade from urban to rural
settings.2
According to world health organization (WHO) approximately 50 100 million infections occur yearly
and mostly among children.3 Dengue virus is widespread and it hit the highest point in post monsoon
phase and floods make the state terrible in Pakistan.4 Evidence suggests that in Pakistan, overall
burden of disease and its severity is on the rise.5 Extraordinary manifestations linking liver and central
nervous system in dengue infection has been reported.7,8 The extent of liver involvement in children
with dengue infection varies from mild injury with rise of transaminases to severe injury with jaundice
and liver cell breakdown.9 12 The frequency of liver involvement is more in dengue shock syndrome
(DSS) and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).7,9 15 Before time identification and timely initiations of
suitable supportive treatment can reduce the morbidity and death. A large amount of the statistics

My Mom Research Paper
Heroes come in many shapes and sizes, like the iconic heroes we see on the big screen, for example,
Batman and Superman, or normal everyday heroes, like a doctor or a firefighter. But I think that the
biggest hero is the one that is closest to me, and that is my Mom. Everyday, I admire and look up to
her, and others should too.
My Mom teaches heroic life lessons that you and I should admire her for. A time this happened is
when I first realized my Mom was my hero at the age of 5. We had just moved into a small town
called Livingston, from New York City. So, naturally, I was very nervous that I would have no friends
and was refusing to go to the first day of Kindergarten. I decided that I wouldn t move at all. But my
Mom promised me I would have a good time, comforted me, and with a kiss, picked me up and
carried me into the car, all while saying that my education is the most important thing in the world.
That day, she stayed with me in school for the whole day. Even though at that time, I thought ... Show

my Dad. But as I got older, I finally understood that she was working as hard as possible to make
money for our family, to let me have a good life. She was trying to make sure I could have food,
clothes, and shelter, and that is heroic. And because of that, I always admire her, and if she was your

Power Of Words In Othello
In Othello words have the ability to steer the plot, to form characters identities and to engage the
audience as active participants in the play.
In Shakespeare s Othello, the lack of a narrator, empowers the words spoken by the characters to such
an extent that it directs the drama to the desired destination of the play. This essay will serve as proof
as the power of words will be discussed by, firstly, explaining the effect that words, and the lack
thereof, have on characters and ultimately on the plot. Thereafter, the use of certain words to form
perceived impressions of characters will be argued. Lastly, an elaboration on how words are used to
involve the audience in the play.
Words can have a positive or negative effect on characters (Kaleba Osherow, 2012), it can lead to a
character being confident or lead to the deterioration of a character s self concept (as seen in the case
of Othello). We see this in the first act when Othello does not hide from confrontation, but instead
invites Brabanzio to come. Not I. I must be found. My parts, my title, and my perfect soul shall

The limited allowances in terms of knowledge and outspokenness of women, in this play creates a

obeying him blindly as expected from a good wife (Levine, 1987). In this case, Emilia s ignorance
leaves her powerless to prevent the death of her mistress, but words empower her when she speaks out
and tells the truth. Iago s manipulative words play on Othello s insecurities, and keeps Emilia loyal
and obedient, this drives the plot to the ending of Othello, Desdemona and Emilia s

Christina Rossetti Influences
Christina Rossetti was born in London on 1830. She grew up in the heart of the Pre Raphaelite
movement. This movement was looked at as a break from the old conventional art and a radical and
revolutionary style of the arts. Her work was directly influenced by the movement she would often
draw influence for some of her poems from artwork from the movement. Her work followed the
manifesto by testing the conventions of art and pushing the boundaries with her poetry. She had
recurring bouts of depression and a lifelong sense of sinfulness. Another doctor speculated that she
suffered from religious mania, bordering on insanity her biographer: Jan Marsh speculated that this
may have been the result of an attempted parental incest This was evident ... Show more content on

When read straightforward it can be seen as a Christian allegory that reenacts the temptation of Adam
and Eve. Given her strong religious devotion this theory is popular among critics. Goblin market
contains many parallels to the bible and other religious symbols There is a an offer of redemption it is
a representation of Christ like offering, Eat me, drink me, love me (Christina Rossetti, Poetry
Foundation), it parallels Christ s Eucharistic at the last supper where he describes it as being a part of
him, an extension of himself. Rossetti supports this theory through Lizzie s Eucharistic diction, in this
case Christ is a female, for the time period this is significant however it is not uncommon for Christina
to promote sisterhood and female empowerment in her poetry. The fact that the sisters are endangered
by a male goblin only to be saved by the strength of sisterhood speaks to how important sisterhood
was to Rossetti. Marxists critics have highlighted that the poem has a distinct separation of the
commercial and domestic spheres. The marketplace where the sisters attempt to do business is
designed to make females into a commodity to bought, sold or traded rather than beings of their own
with their own sense of free will. (Christina Rossetti, Poetry

Defect Of Groupthink
Author Janis suggested that the main defect of groupthink is processing information ineffectively,
which would mean that the group decision will be of a low quality. Janis argued that groupthink leads
to an inability to arrive at a high quality decision, which means that groupthink through the decision
making defects leads to bad group decisions. Janis then contradicts herself by suggesting that some
groups will arrive at a good decision even in the face of groupthink, especially if the leader advocates
a good decision. I would try to justify the notion that there is low probability for a high quality
decision because there has to be some reference to either low or high when discussing outcome of a
decision. Author Janis did state that groupthink

The Red Badge Of Courage Character Analysis
The Red Badge of Courage is a psychological or war novel written by Stephen Crane. Set during the
Civil War, it is a fictional portrayal of the Battle of Chancellorsville, which was fought in 1863. This
novel focuses on the psychology of a single soldier. Three main characters are introduced within the
first chapter, Henry, Jim, and Wilson. Crane refers to Henry as the young soldier (33) and the youth
(4) throughout the novel. He believes in time honored virtues such as courage and honor and
sentimentalizes the visualization of dying in battle. Furthermore, because he is young, Henry has not
experienced enough to test these conceptions. Because of this, Henry s most passionate notions are
based on fantasies, making him seem vain and self centered. Jim and Henry contrast clearly within the
opening pages of the novel. He is strong and self reliant and does not romanticize war in the manner
that Henry does. Jim goes through his days efficiently and with few hardships.
He prefers to do what duty requires of him and finds a simple pleasure in doing so. Jim remains
prominently steady throughout the novel, but Wilson undergoes a vivid change. At first, Wilson is
loud, ignorant, and opinionated. Crane refers to him as the loud soldier (13). His transformation
becomes clear comparatively quickly. After a tense battle, Wilson takes on the role of Henry s
caretaker. In addition, he displays his generosity by insisting that Henry takes his only blanket. The

Grizzly Man Sparknotes
Werner Herzog is arguably one of the most creative and innovative directors of our time. He has
produced many pictures over the past few decades ranging from a documentary on Antarctica s
beauty, to a short series on death row inmates. Herzog gained recognition as a German director in the
late 70 s to early 80 s for films like Signs of Life and Fitzcarraldo, receiving much critical acclaim.
Since then he has released many box office hits like Grizzly Man and Recscue dawn, based on the true
story of Dieter Dengler. Grizzly Man, released in 2006, is about the tragic death of an eccentric wild
life activist named Timothy Treadwell. This analysis will examine the validity to the indexical and
interpretive material in Grizzly Man. Herzog uses original Timothy Treadwell footage as well as
personal interviews to represent the reality he perceives, using the reflexive and performative modes
in the documentary. Although it is impossible to show the entire picture of Timothys story, there is
enough information provided to support Herzogs position revealed at the end. Without Treadwell alive
to speak for himself, the film remains balanced through the many interviews of people in his life.
The film starts out with Treadwells original footage of him talking to the camera. In the background
are two huge bears, at a fairly distant but still frightening distance. He is alone in the Alaskan

The Ethics Of Discourse Communities
Discourse communities are groups of people who share similar values, goals, and ways of
communication. Although it is more of a broad definition, to me discourse communities can be more
simplified. My definition: sharing the same experiences, individual passion, and journey as your
destined group. Even though high school is bygone, the Langston Hughes Volleyball Team is still
considered my discourse community. Not to be biased but we are the best. Performing rigorous
activities such as sports requirements, voting for captains, and being in the volleyball section of the
yearbook considers me as one with the team. Every sports team required members to have yearly
physicals, and either fundraise or pay for the team gear. With volleyball you are also required to
participate in summer conditioning. Failure to attend? Chances are you are not playing the fall season.
Summertime was considered two months of work and labor versus fun and games others experience.
Conditioning consist of brutal Abs work, leg tightening, and running multiple miles to whip us into
shape. After workouts, if you failed to burn from the inside out or collapse from exhaustion something
is wrong with you. Around school our rep was traveling up a steep hill composed of one hundred
eighty pounds of concrete and the length of more than half a football field. It was called The Bank . It

Emotional Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s A Clean,...
In his short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place, Ernest Hemingway, uses his usual style of elegant, yet
unembellished, prose to depict one late night interaction between an old man, a young waiter, and an
older waiter. The story takes place at a café in Madrid, during the era following the Lost Generation
and is apparent, given the contrasting perspectives of the characters. The part of the story where the
young waiter refills the old man s brandy with an agitated demeanor and the old man desires nothing
more than to drink continuously, as he does on a nightly basis, illuminates the broader concerns of the
of the story. This passage, although centered around the story s supporting characters, unveils the idea
of nothingness before the reader s introduction to the word nada. Hemingway s A Clean, Well Lighted
Place, is a revelation to the elaborate complexity of emotional fulfillment versus the existential crisis
of spiritual and emotional emptiness, between the young and the old, throughout this particular
generational gap. Throughout the passage, we see the young waiter go through a wide range of
emotions, beginning with him feeling irritated, which becomes perceivable after his initial statement: a
terse What do you want? directed at the old man (153). He then becomes condescending, telling the
old man that he will be drunk if he continues drinking, knowing that he cannot hear him and that
getting drunk is, evidently, the old man s intentions (154). Next, he tells

The Worm in the Apple
The worm in the apple John Cheever is an American novelist, who gained his popularity as a short
story writer, for which he was awarded with Pulitzer prize for fiction. His work mostly deal with the
duality oh human nature corroborated by cultural and psychological background. And his short story
titled The worm in the apple is not an exclusion. The story unfolds very smoothly and evenly in spite
of of the stirring and at the same time troubling subject of the matter. We get acquainted with the main
characters The Crutchman family so very very happy and so temperate in all their habits and so

For everybody the Crutchman s family apple is perfect, but inside, it is repellent. With the help of the
atmosphere the author shows his own discourse about the problem for him this family s way of life is
ridiculous and absurd. He dwells upon it with tongue in cheek. It seems that characters are everywhere
but not in their family just because they know and understand the despair and ruefulness of their little
family theater. One more theme is relationships between parents and children. And one more time we
see the worm: the mother who loves one child more than the other one, the mother who is jealous of
her own daughter. And that of course cannot but contributes to Rachel s and Tom s future lives.
Having condemned her own life, Helen does the same about their children s ones. Speaking about the
language, it contributes to the whole effect of the story. It opens with the sentence that sounds like a
contradiction the Crutchmans are so happy that everyone necessarily believed that they are not. It is
impossible not to notice the irony of Cheever they are so so so very happy. This usage of numerous

Social Responsibility And Business Ethics Essay
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to assess an article written by William Cohen (2009) which outlines Peter
Drucker s description of the role of social responsibility in business organizations and society. This
paper will compare similarities and differences between Cohen s perspective on social responsibility
to the social responsibility and business ethics theories of Drucker and Milton Friedman. Furthermore,
this paper will provide a frame of reference on corporate social responsibility and business ethics
presented in other research.
Social Responsibility Defined
Cohen, 2009 wrote in his article that Drucker defined social responsibility as the full responsibility of
every organization to assume its impact on employees, the environment, customers, and whoever and
whatever it touches. In essence, business organizations should care about the internal and external
societal ecosystems where it exists. Other researchers such as (Halme, Roome, Dobers, (2009))
consider Corporate Responsibility as activities implemented by a company that contributes to a better
society including its environmental conditions. However, for the purpose of this paper, social
responsibility, as defined by Drucker is adopted.
Friedman (1970) presented another perspective of social responsibility in business. In consonance,
Friedman (1970) writes that the first step in understanding the social responsibility doctrine is to find
out what social responsibility implies for each entity

An Analysis Of The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
The metamorphosis, written by a German author Franz Kafka. Kafka and his Metamorphosis is a
masterpiece of absurdist literature, but what is the most absurd part in this whole story ? Everyone s
first reaction may be human turn into beetles this setting could be the most absurd sense indeed,
because this kind of transformation is never going to happen in reality. However, in the history of
literature, there are numerous similar metamorphosis plot happens between human and animals or
plants, the ancient Greek mythology has the story of the bulls; the ancient Roman Apuleius s golden

After the death of Gregory, the family relieved, have to go out to picnic. From Gregory into insects to
death, only a few days time, this family is not like just lost the baby son look. We can not help to ask:
this mentality is really normal? People in real life will not become insects, but their families will also
appear above the absurd mentality? Let s take a look at the subjective feelings of Greggel s insects:
loss of language skills, inconvenience, reduced appetite, and care for people. What is the closest thing
in real life? That is sick. Kraft s most prominent artistic feature is the overall absurdity and detail of
the truth, the work of the central event is absurd, but the central environment of the incident is true,
resulting in actual situation effect. Specifically to this text, the central event that becomes a bug is
absurd, but the family s response to this event is real. When a person from the pillar into a terminally
ill patient, his family will certainly be very concerned, very sympathetic. But when the patient
gradually lost the ability, when the family economic burden is getting heavier, the family s boredom
and complain will naturally arise. And when the patient becomes the biggest obstacle to a new life, the
family is even happy for his disappearance. We will never become a bug, but we will definitely
become a patient. If the closest person would treat us like a bug, that would be more desperate. The
main idea of Kafka s

How Did Bohemian Rhapsody Break
Bohemian Rhapsody was composed by Freddie Mercury, while its primary genre is rock, it is full of
different textures, tempos, vocals and instrumentation. It is considered to be one of the greatest songs
of all time and has been number one many times. It is also one of my personal favourite songs.
The song, instead of being song form, has no chorus and is split up into different sections, an intro,
ballad, operatic passage, hard rock section and reflective coda.
The BPM of this song changes throughout,
The introduction begins with a five part harmony acapella sung by Freddie Mercury, all of these parts
have been multi tracked and are in the key of Bb. The vocals are panned differently, with the higher
harmonies in the right and the lower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the next line comes in, drums, bass and a timpani come in, the sound is very sudden and can be
described as sforzando, the sound is very full and is quite different from a few seconds ago, the
dynamics are constantly changing. During the Galileo section, the higher Galileo is panned in the right
ear, and the lower Galileo is panned in the left ear, it can be described as a call and response
technique. When Mercury sings Magnifico , the Oh is canon and panned between the left and right of
the stereo field. At 3:50, No, we will not let you go is panned on the left of the stereo field, with Let
him go! on the right, after this, Never, never, never is panned from left to right, further showing that
this song is full of creative panning. The operatic section ends with Beelzebub has a devil put aside for
me , sung with the full chorus, actually just multitracked vocals from Mercury, May and Taylor, the
final note is sung by Taylor and is Bb5, sung in falsetto, consequently ending the operatic section, and

Business and Management in Context
INTRODUCTION
A number of different major schools of management thoughts have been emerged since 100 years ago.
Various views of management have been arisen and affected the managerial skills both in the past and
the present.
The whole world had been changed dramatically during the last 100 years. As Clarke and Clegg point
out that the increasing rate of change and increasing complexity in the business world is making it
harder and harder for managers to find simple statements of management truth. This assignment is
going to discuss the changes in the last 50 years which have been affected the three basic skills,
Technical skill, Human skill and Conceptual skill, cited by Robert L. Katz in 1950s. And try to
compare Katz s work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technical skill is still one of the important elements for effective management.
Katz considered that human skill was significant for effective management. Managers should have
ability to work with, understand and motivate people as individuals or groups. Workers are critical
success factor to the implementation of management thoughts in achieving company s goal.
Respectively, managers have to show their support to their workers and provide them incentive to
work hard for the organisation.
Human relation approach would enhance the workers efficiency: the Hawthorne experiments have
pointed out the relationship between the human factors and productivity, such as by giving workers a
break and hot snack could increase the productivity. Furthermore, some new management ideas were
generated in this experiment, such as, leadership, communications, output restrictions, motivation and
job design (Morden, 1996). These skills are adopted by vast majority of modern management.
Conceptual skill was also recommended by Katz. Managers are required to have mental ability to
coordinate and integrate all things related to organisation and to perceive things broadly.
Specialization is good enough to classify tasks into specific area; however, different management
functions shall not be put together. Therefore, manager should integrate all the elements of the
organisation s situation in order to maximize the productivity and profitability. This skill is very

Essay On Military Gear Shootings
In the past 45 years, there have been 27 shootings on various military installations with an
approximate total of 78 killed and 120 injured. (Rothschild) Of those, six were prior to the 1992 gun
policy directive set up by Department of Defense Deputy Director, Donald J. Atwood under President
George H. W. Bush and modified by President William Clinton, restricting military personnel with the
exception of military and DoD police officers along with sentries from carrying weapons on base
(Darcy). Subsequently, there has been a rise in shootings on military installations, most of which could
have undoubtedly been avoided if soldiers could properly protect themselves by having the choice to
conceal or open carry on duty and off when on an installation. To avoid more bloodshed on bases,
personnel must be properly equipped and ready at all times. Before men and women ship off to boot
camp, they must demonstrate that they are eligible for enlistment by completing a series of tests.
These tests are comprised of multiple drug screenings and tests, physical fitness tests, aptitude tests,
an extensive background test and a pregnancy test for women. However, if you have any felonies you
are automatically disqualified. Same goes with having a specific health issue for instance, having

The E FM should have communicated to people s feelings to encourage behaviour change to
overcome barriers.
The actual change process should have included a Sense of Urgency . The positive promotion of in
house services, and the expense of contracted services should have been repeatedly and strenuously
broadcast. This would have altered people s behaviour to believe the change was necessary and
beneficial.
A Project Team or Guiding Coalition should have been formed by the E FM, to drive the change
effort.
An improved Vision or change strategy would have helped sell the change with a sense of emotion.
The Vision should have been broadcast in additional formats and regularly re publicised.

Again, it was shown that approximately 70 percent of the federal budget for the war on drugs (again,
the report for the federal budget was statistically manipulated and skewed) was going towards the
imprisonment and law enforcement against the suppliers and users of narcotics. The effects caused by
the imprisonment and armed force against them has sparked violence and civil injustice around the
world. Firstly, look at it from an impoverished family s point of view. The growing and manufacturing
of opium in Afghanistan is their living and their source of what is usually an inadequate income.
When these crops are eradicated and destroyed, and families are destroyed by this; generally violence,
food insecurity/malnourishment, increases in poverty, and a decline in school attendance are all a
result (Barret). It is common knowledge that when things as rudimentary as food security or school
attendance are disrupted, civil injustice has occurred. Or for the layman, things are really bad. For
instance, the drug cartel crisis in Mexico is the perfect example of what has ensued in part by the drug
war. Drug users in the United States are the biggest customers of the products Mexican cartels have to
offer. Because the drug laws are so harsh in the United States, the drugs were sourced and supplied by
Mexican drug cartels. In the 1990 s, Mexico plunged into a severe economic crisis. The drug trade as
also effected. As a result of intense competition amongst Mexican drug

Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act Essay
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:______________________________________________________ The
Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act, in short: The Brady Act, was United States legislation that
was passed by Congress in 1993. The Brady Act required a five day waiting period and criminal
background check, performed by state and local law enforcement, for the purchase of a handgun. The
Brady Act was instituted to curtail handgun violence and decrease the probability of a handgun ending
up in a criminal s hands. The legislation was heavily pushed by Senator James Brady and his wife,
Sarah Brady, after Sen. Brady was seriously injured by a gunshot wound during the attempted
assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981. The five day waiting period went into effect on
February 28, 1994, and was strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA
indicated the Brady Act was unconstitutional and a violation of the 10th Amendment. Lawsuits in
several states were heard, and finally the Brady Act was deemed unconstitutional in 1997 by the U.S.
Supreme Court, in the case of Printz v. United States. At that time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI), instituted the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) which would allow
for instant background checks of handgun purchasers, and provisions were made to the Brady Act to
satisfy the court. The NCIS became operational on November 30, 1998. The Brady Campaign
indicates over 2.6 million prohibited gun purchases have

groups. They use the Olympic games to get their message or beliefs across to a larger viewing public.
Some demonstrations and protests are quite peaceful, while others, are chaotic and often lead to
violence. These individuals can be seen as early as the opening ceremonies and as late as the closing
ceremonies of the Olympics. Many athletes also have demonstrated their support to some of these
groups. Tommie Smith, John Carlos, Cathy Freeman, and Naim Suleymanoglu, just to name a few, are

Smith and Carlos, who finished first and third in the 200 meter run, bowed their heads, wearing black
socks and black leather gloves, raised their fist in the Black power salute as the Star Spangled Banner

Smith concluded that their actions were not of a Black power salute, but an Olympic project for
human rights. He also stated that the Black gloved fists represented African American pride, and their
black socks were a testament to poverty encountered by African Americans during those times
(Boogard, 2000,p. D1). The U.S. organizing committee immediately removed Smith and Carlos from
the track and field team as a result of their protest. Smith and Carlos however took advantage of their
day in the spotlight and made news around the world. They stood for something that is needed to be
corrected, which was racism, and took a stand. Over the years, the tensions of racism slowly decreased
in the U.S., as a result of one of the biggest nationwide protest ever seen. Naim Suleymanoglu, also

History Of American Comic Comics Superheroes
History of American Comic Book Superheroes.
Before they become significant box office phenomena and debut for TV serious, superheroes were
short stories in printed media. Supermen, Batman, Captain America, Wonder Woman ...were comic
books superheroes. The idea of superheroes was long existed. However, as many comic books
historians agreed, The Phantom, published in February 17, 1936, is considered to be the first comic
book costumed hero. Since then, comic books superheroes were booming. In the mid 1940s,
collectively, American comic books publishers sold between eighty million to hundred million copies
every week. Though there is a difference on the span of years, historians divided the history of comic
books superheroes into periods. Starting from the first golden age, this paper will point out and discuss
the major historical events and phenomena that American superheroes comic books went through
time.
Golden Age
Some scholars claimed the period spans from 1938 to 1949 and others say up to 1956. Despite its
range of year s controversy, they all agreed that, during this period the popularity of comic books
reached its peak, both in terms of commercial success and cultural significance. The starting point for
this period is usually associated with the coming of man in a red and blue costume, lifting a car over
his head Superman. Superman was the first comic superhero character to have powers far beyond a

My Experience At The Bus
If somebody loves something, they will never get sick it. I feel exactly that when I board the bus,
packed full to go to track meets in the springtime. When descending up the three stairs onto the bus,
the boys team takes up the whole back half of the bus and the girls team claims the front half. From
front to back, all of the athletes squeeze three bodies into one seat. The guys in the back chant and
yell, in a wonderful mood before the start of the meet while some of the girls team nap or listen to
music or play games to pass the time. Coming from behind, I hear one of my teammates saying I spy
with my little eye something green followed by multiple girls all staring out the windows shooting out
quick guesses. Cars zoom by as I stare out my window, listening to music, just waiting to get to our
destination. A lifetime, or so it felt, passed of guys yelling across the bus and girls singing aloud to
music and we were finally at our destination. One by one, we unloaded the bus, bags and all. Boys,
girls and coaches haul bags and coolers and blankets and I take up the rear of the pack. The day is a
cold one, the wind is blowing but the sun is shining down through the clouds. The team crosses the
rubber like track and onto the infield surrounded by the track. Blankets are laid across the green grass
for bags to be set down and runners to rest on between and before races. All around the field, opposing

Fox Hunting Should Be Banned Essay
Fox hunting is one form of hunting. It is a pursuit of a wild fox with a pack of hounds, which are
specially bred and trained for the sole purpose of fox hunting, and are followed by hunters who
usually ride on horses. When the hounds pick up the scent of a fox, they will follow it until the fox
evades them, goes to ground, or is overtaken and killed by the hounds. This form of hunting is
exercised in several countries around the world, but this essay will concentrate on fox hunting in the
United Kingdom. It has been practiced in Britain for around 300 years, with its popularity at its height
in the late 19th century. The debate concerning fox hunting has heated up in the past few years.

An opposing view is that the fox is not a serious threat to agriculture, and should not be considered as
a vermin. According to the League Against Cruel Sports the foxes actually help farmers by eating
small animals, such as rabbits, rats and voles, which are considered to be pests on arable land. In
addition, foxes are territorial animals, which means that once a fox is killed another soon moves into
its place from a surrounding area. Left to control their population naturally the number of foxes would
be controlled by scarcity of food, whereas when used fox hunting for controlling the populations, it
only serves to lessen the amount of the animals temporarily, for more foxes to take advantage of the
increase in food thus breeding again. Furthermore, foxes do not cause significant loss or damage in
livestock. For example the League Against Cruel Sports, an organization strongly against fox hunting,
mentions a York University study that states that only a minimal amount of 0.4% of lambs are killed
by foxes, and of other livestock the percentage is extremely low as well. According to the study foxes
are not a significant danger to livestock.
Supporters of fox hunting present the opinion that foxes do not suffer from stress or pain as a result of
the hunt. According to them, hunting with hounds allows the foxes to be killed immediately by one nip
to the back of the fox s neck, as the dogs are significantly larger than the

  • 2. Essay on Current State of the Republican Party It was a commonly held belief among the Republican party that Mitt Romney was almost a guaranteed win in the 2012 presidential election. This view wasn t necessarily because Romney followed Republican policy to a T but rather because of Obama s disastrous job with the economy in the previous four years. History was well in the minds of most Republicans in that particular matter since no president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt had ever won a presidency after the economy had gone as low as it did and was in a serious struggle to rebound. With this piece of history in the minds of most Republicans the assumptions was history would continue to repeat itself even if Romeny wasn t the Republican parties knight in shinning armor. The election ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first such way is in social issues. The traditionally narrow minded view on most social issues has almost all but gone away and the open mindedness of the american people is more apparent. One of these issues is gay marriage and the acceptance it has been met by. We see this with certain states that have already legalized it and in more and more states contemplating proposing gay marriage and placing it on the ballot. According to a ABC News poll, conservative support for gay marriage has gone from 10 percent support in 2004 to 19 percent in 2006 and 30 percent currently (Abramowitz). Another important issue is abortions and the womens right to choose. This has always been an issues of friction in america but abortion has become more open and a more commonly used option among women. For women who do not necessarily agree with the practice of abortion they still share the idea that women should have the right to choose and make decisions that are inherently theirs because it is their body. Womens rights have always been a debated subject in american and it has only expanded over the years. Telling women they have no say in their body and their future in the way of having children is taking a drastic step backwards from the forward moving expansion of rights. Republicans failed to budge on their view on womens right to choose while the Democrats made it clear they supported the right to choose. According to exit polls 53 percent of the voters in the 2012 elections were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is The Broken Window Theory James Q. Wilson and George Kelling in 1982 developed the idea of the Broken Windows Theory. The Broken Windows theory was the first study linking minor crime being left unattended to growing into serious crime. That crime originated from disorder. Wilson and Kelling argued by eliminating disorder, serious crime will decrease. The types of disorders are explained in further depth. The first type of disorder is physical disorder. Examples of physical disorder is but not limited to vacant buildings, broken windows, abandoned vehicles, and vacant lots filled with trash. The second type of disorder is defined by noise, hostile panhandlers and young adults gathering in groups on corners. These forms of disorder make the community appear unsafe ... Introduction Politics have been important throughout history, but in the last century, government has changed a large amount. With the rise of the standard of living in first world nations, there has been a push to help bring everyone in the world up to a minimum standard. There have been many perspectives taken on the issue, and there are many articles for helping and against helping developing nations shown through political and historical lenses. A key question is how much aid wealthy nations should provide for developing nations, and how to provide it. Two articles considered this question. The first article deals with The amount of government, while the second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bandow argues through many perspectives in the political lens, creating a blending of voices that makes his argument to have less government in developing nations more effective than if he relied on one perspective alone. Article #2 The other article, Why developing countries get stuck with weak institutions and how foreign actors can help by Brad Parks, Mark Buntaine, and Benjamin Butch argues that the incentives given by donors only change cosmetic functions of the institution, rather than changing actual results. An example is providing aid to improve staffing in an organization to have people with better qualifications , but not dealing with the corruption in the rest of country, so better qualified people still can t make things better. Rewarding countries for doing things that are just cosmetic doesn t accomplish anything, but often gets the reward of more aid. This group wants more change in the regimes of developing nations, which would lead to actual development. The current system leads to stagnation of developing countries. The countries put large amount of effort into achieving cosmetic goals to get the next financial quota, but they are so poor they can t or won t do the harder steps to achieve real results. They just go for the cheaper option. This was a well crafted argument, but only having a single piece of evidence to back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Spain s Armada came into view, there were men off of the coast of England and Wales ready to make haste to give word of where the Spanish are. In order to spread word of the arrival, the men lit beacons that sent word to other positions until it finally reached the Queen (Sharnette). Due to the help also from spies, Queen Elizabeth was able to have inside information about the idea of what will become of the Spanish idea and it helped England assemble their own ships for the future encounter ( The Defeat of the Spanish Armada: 1588 ). In Preparation for the near hopeful invasion, Queen Elizabeth I started to collect funds to help pay for the necessities needed to fuel her own improvement to ready her and her men. • 8. James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues James Baldwin brings you on an emotional ride through Harlem in the 1950 s with his short story, Sonny s Blues. From the beginning, we are in media res when the unnamed narrator is informed of bad news concerning his younger, troubled brother, Sonny. Throughout the story we witness the ocean of emotions between these two brothers battling hardships from their past, through flashbacks, and present time. The setting plays an important role in Sonny s Blues to an extent where it is practically a character in the story. The city of Harlem is a reminder of their troubles and the suffering it ignites is exactly what Sonny tries to run away from when he turns to drugs and jazz music. Through the setting of Sonny s Blues, and the example of the relationship between the narrator and his younger brother, Sonny, James Baldwin presents how a dark past full of suffering can influence present lives and relationships. The sequence of events is not in chronological order since the narrator goes from present, to past, and back to present in order to illustrate the suffering experienced by both brothers and to emphasize the impact the past has on the present. During present time, Sonny is sentenced to prison for heroine abuse. The narrator and Sonny are not close at this time because he doesn t try to understand Sonny until his little girl dies and he has some of his own suffering to deal with. • 9. Three Major Eras From the 13th century to the 18th century the art world has three major eras, Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo. Each era has its own characteristics, the development of scientific knowledge has a big influence on them. When a scientific expression method was taken for the first time, it became a trend and the same method and expression method were adopted for many art objects. That trend also became a characteristic of that era. By using scientific knowledge development and analysis, art objects became more realistic. In the Renaissance era, the line perspective has been used for paintings since around the 15th century. The perspective technique developed from architectural industry. Not only was the composition seen by the eyes, but also the scientific theoretical perspective projection method used for the space composition of paintings. Only in the Grimm Brothers Cinderella, she has to pick up lentils that her stepsisters throw down for her to pick up. The Charles Perrault Cinderella difference that was stated affects the theme because since the sisters apologized to Cinderella she gave them a lodging and 2 lords which disagrees with the theme a little bit because the theme states that bad people never succeed. In Shakespeare s Othello, the lack of a narrator, empowers the words spoken by the characters to such an extent that it directs the drama to the desired destination of the play. This essay will serve as proof as the power of words will be discussed by, firstly, explaining the effect that words, and the lack thereof, have on characters and ultimately on the plot. Thereafter, the use of certain words to form perceived impressions of characters will be argued. Lastly, an elaboration on how words are used to involve the audience in the play. Words can have a positive or negative effect on characters (Kaleba Osherow, 2012), it can lead to a character being confident or lead to the deterioration of a character s self concept (as seen in the case of Othello). • 16. The Red Badge Of Courage Character Analysis The Red Badge of Courage is a psychological or war novel written by Stephen Crane. Set during the Civil War, it is a fictional portrayal of the Battle of Chancellorsville, which was fought in 1863. This novel focuses on the psychology of a single soldier. Three main characters are introduced within the first chapter, Henry, Jim, and Wilson. Crane refers to Henry as the young soldier (33) and the youth (4) throughout the novel. He believes in time honored virtues such as courage and honor and sentimentalizes the visualization of dying in battle. Furthermore, because he is young, Henry has not experienced enough to test these conceptions. Because of this, Henry s most passionate notions are based on fantasies, making him seem vain and self centered. Jim and Henry contrast clearly within the opening pages of the novel. He is strong and self reliant and does not romanticize war in the manner that Henry does. Jim goes through his days efficiently and with few hardships. He prefers to do what duty requires of him and finds a simple pleasure in doing so. Jim remains prominently steady throughout the novel, but Wilson undergoes a vivid change. At first, Wilson is loud, ignorant, and opinionated. Crane refers to him as the loud soldier (13). His transformation becomes clear comparatively quickly. After a tense battle, Wilson takes on the role of Henry s caretaker. In addition, he displays his generosity by insisting that Henry takes his only blanket. The next ... The story takes place at a café in Madrid, during the era following the Lost Generation and is apparent, given the contrasting perspectives of the characters. Social Responsibility And Business Ethics Essay Introduction The purpose of this paper is to assess an article written by William Cohen (2009) which outlines Peter Drucker s description of the role of social responsibility in business organizations and society. This paper will compare similarities and differences between Cohen s perspective on social responsibility to the social responsibility and business ethics theories of Drucker and Milton Friedman. Furthermore, this paper will provide a frame of reference on corporate social responsibility and business ethics presented in other research. Social Responsibility Defined Cohen, 2009 wrote in his article that Drucker defined social responsibility as the full responsibility of every organization to assume its impact on employees, the environment, customers, and whoever and whatever it touches. In essence, business organizations should care about the internal and external societal ecosystems where it exists. Other researchers such as (Halme, Roome, Dobers, (2009)) consider Corporate Responsibility as activities implemented by a company that contributes to a better society including its environmental conditions. However, for the purpose of this paper, social responsibility, as defined by Drucker is adopted. Friedman (1970) presented another perspective of social responsibility in business. • 27. How Did Bohemian Rhapsody Break Bohemian Rhapsody was composed by Freddie Mercury, while its primary genre is rock, it is full of different textures, tempos, vocals and instrumentation. It is considered to be one of the greatest songs of all time and has been number one many times. It is also one of my personal favourite songs. The song, instead of being song form, has no chorus and is split up into different sections, an intro, ballad, operatic passage, hard rock section and reflective coda. The BPM of this song changes throughout, The introduction begins with a five part harmony acapella sung by Freddie Mercury, all of these parts have been multi tracked and are in the key of Bb. The vocals are panned differently, with the higher harmonies in the right and the lower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the next line comes in, drums, bass and a timpani come in, the sound is very sudden and can be described as sforzando, the sound is very full and is quite different from a few seconds ago, the dynamics are constantly changing. When Mercury sings Magnifico , the Oh is canon and panned between the left and right of the stereo field. At 3:50, No, we will not let you go is panned on the left of the stereo field, with Let him go! on the right, after this, Never, never, never is panned from left to right, further showing that this song is full of creative panning. The operatic section ends with Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me , sung with the full chorus, actually just multitracked vocals from Mercury, May and Taylor, the final note is sung by Taylor and is Bb5, sung in falsetto, consequently ending the operatic section, and moving onto the hard rock ... • 28. Business and Management in Context INTRODUCTION A number of different major schools of management thoughts have been emerged since 100 years ago. Various views of management have been arisen and affected the managerial skills both in the past and the present. The whole world had been changed dramatically during the last 100 years. As Clarke and Clegg point out that the increasing rate of change and increasing complexity in the business world is making it harder and harder for managers to find simple statements of management truth. This assignment is going to discuss the changes in the last 50 years which have been affected the three basic skills, Technical skill, Human skill and Conceptual skill, cited by Robert L. Katz in 1950s. And try to compare Katz s work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Technical skill is still one of the important elements for effective management. Katz considered that human skill was significant for effective management. Managers should have ability to work with, understand and motivate people as individuals or groups. Workers are critical success factor to the implementation of management thoughts in achieving company s goal. Respectively, managers have to show their support to their workers and provide them incentive to work hard for the organisation. Human relation approach would enhance the workers efficiency: the Hawthorne experiments have pointed out the relationship between the human factors and productivity, such as by giving workers a break and hot snack could increase the productivity. Furthermore, some new management ideas were generated in this experiment, such as, leadership, communications, output restrictions, motivation and job design (Morden, 1996). These skills are adopted by vast majority of modern management. Conceptual skill was also recommended by Katz. Managers are required to have mental ability to coordinate and integrate all things related to organisation and to perceive things broadly. Specialization is good enough to classify tasks into specific area; however, different management functions shall not be put together. Therefore, manager should integrate all the elements of the organisation s situation in order to maximize the productivity and profitability. This skill is very similar ... (Rothschild) Of those, six were prior to the 1992 gun policy directive set up by Department of Defense Deputy Director, Donald J. Atwood under President George H. W. Bush and modified by President William Clinton, restricting military personnel with the exception of military and DoD police officers along with sentries from carrying weapons on base (Darcy). Subsequently, there has been a rise in shootings on military installations, most of which could have undoubtedly been avoided if soldiers could properly protect themselves by having the choice to conceal or open carry on duty and off when on an installation. To avoid more bloodshed on bases, personnel must be properly equipped and ready at all times. Before men and women ship off to boot camp, they must demonstrate that they are eligible for enlistment by completing a series of tests. These tests are comprised of multiple drug screenings and tests, physical fitness tests, aptitude tests, an extensive background test and a pregnancy test for women. Many of these people are mostly working part time retail/food industry jobs or internships for many of the people do not have time to balance school and an actual full time job. Again, it was shown that approximately 70 percent of the federal budget for the war on drugs (again, the report for the federal budget was statistically manipulated and skewed) was going towards the imprisonment and law enforcement against the suppliers and users of narcotics. The effects caused by the imprisonment and armed force against them has sparked violence and civil injustice around the world. Firstly, look at it from an impoverished family s point of view. The growing and manufacturing of opium in Afghanistan is their living and their source of what is usually an inadequate income. When these crops are eradicated and destroyed, and families are destroyed by this; generally violence, food insecurity/malnourishment, increases in poverty, and a decline in school attendance are all a result (Barret). It is common knowledge that when things as rudimentary as food security or school attendance are disrupted, civil injustice has occurred. Or for the layman, things are really bad. For instance, the drug cartel crisis in Mexico is the perfect example of what has ensued in part by the drug war. Drug users in the United States are the biggest customers of the products Mexican cartels have to offer. Because the drug laws are so harsh in the United States, the drugs were sourced and supplied by Mexican drug cartels. In the 1990 s, Mexico plunged into a severe economic crisis. • 33. Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act Essay EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:______________________________________________________ The Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act, in short: The Brady Act, was United States legislation that was passed by Congress in 1993. The Brady Act required a five day waiting period and criminal background check, performed by state and local law enforcement, for the purchase of a handgun. The Brady Act was instituted to curtail handgun violence and decrease the probability of a handgun ending up in a criminal s hands. The legislation was heavily pushed by Senator James Brady and his wife, Sarah Brady, after Sen. Brady was seriously injured by a gunshot wound during the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981. The five day waiting period went into effect on February 28, 1994, and was strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA indicated the Brady Act was unconstitutional and a violation of the 10th Amendment. Lawsuits in several states were heard, and finally the Brady Act was deemed unconstitutional in 1997 by the U.S. Supreme Court, in the case of Printz v. United States. At that time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), instituted the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) which would allow for instant background checks of handgun purchasers, and provisions were made to the Brady Act to satisfy the court. The NCIS became operational on November 30, 1998. The Brady Campaign indicates over 2.6 million prohibited gun purchases have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their actions were a protest against racism in the U.S. Later, Smith concluded that their actions were not of a Black power salute, but an Olympic project for human rights. He also stated that the Black gloved fists represented African American pride, and their black socks were a testament to poverty encountered by African Americans during those times (Boogard, 2000,p. Smith and Carlos however took advantage of their day in the spotlight and made news around the world. They stood for something that is needed to be corrected, which was racism, and took a stand. When descending up the three stairs onto the bus, the boys team takes up the whole back half of the bus and the girls team claims the front half. From front to back, all of the athletes squeeze three bodies into one seat. The guys in the back chant and yell, in a wonderful mood before the start of the meet while some of the girls team nap or listen to music or play games to pass the time. Coming from behind, I hear one of my teammates saying I spy with my little eye something green followed by multiple girls all staring out the windows shooting out quick guesses. This form of hunting is exercised in several countries around the world, but this essay will concentrate on fox hunting in the United Kingdom. An opposing view is that the fox is not a serious threat to agriculture, and should not be considered as a vermin. According to the League Against Cruel Sports the foxes actually help farmers by eating small animals, such as rabbits, rats and voles, which are considered to be pests on arable land. In addition, foxes are territorial animals, which means that once a fox is killed another soon moves into its place from a surrounding area. Left to control their population naturally the number of foxes would be controlled by scarcity of food, whereas when used fox hunting for controlling the populations, it only serves to lessen the amount of the animals temporarily, for more foxes to take advantage of the increase in food thus breeding again. Furthermore, foxes do not cause significant loss or damage in livestock. For example the League Against Cruel Sports, an organization strongly against fox hunting, mentions a York University study that states that only a minimal amount of 0.4% of lambs are killed by foxes, and of other livestock the percentage is extremely low as well. According to the study foxes are not a significant danger to livestock. Supporters of fox hunting present the opinion that foxes do not suffer from stress or pain as a result of the hunt. According to them, hunting with hounds allows the foxes to be killed immediately by one nip to the back of the fox s neck, as the dogs are significantly larger than the ...
