In 2009, there were 154,324 patients on the waiting list for an organ in the United States. Because of
the lack of availability of organs, the grim reality is that only 18% received a transplant and 25
patients per day died while still on the waiting list. To alleviate this situation, a nationwide policy of
compensation and incentives for organ donation will be implemented.
The problems plaguing the current state of organ transplantation are more multidimensional than
numbers. Issues are present from the national level all the down to the individual patient. Right at the
onset of the entire process, identifying potential donors is difficult and problematic to subject to a set
of standardized criteria. One of the reasons for this is that the sources of organs are varied. Still, the
primary source of organ donation is cadavers. To certify death, the accepted criteria is that of brain
death. After certification, another issue is ensuring the condition of the organs is maintained in a
manner acceptable to be transplanted. Yet another issue is that the list is not static. The condition of
patients can unfortunately deteriorate to the point where their eligibility to be placed on the list is lost.
Additionally, given the chronic shortage of organs available and the extended amount of time some

actions will be needed as the office block is located in quite a rural and quiet area in itself. However
there will be some steps taken to ensure the tranquillity of the offices such as the insulation being

The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for
its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about
Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main
characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly
walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren t horrible people
either.
If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost
positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are
predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want
to be kind hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out
against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives;
nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed.
Defining a good person is difficult because I don t want to put constraints around it. To be morally
good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own
definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so,
he/she can make an effort to remedy them.
With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be what

Intro
For the coaching observation project I observed the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Urban
Meyer. I watched him on TV when Ohio State played Penn State. The reason I selected Urban Meyer
to do my coaching observation is because he is the coach I decided to model my coaching philosophy
after. The reason I chose this game specifically is because this is a very important game and I want to
see how he handles his team in high pressure situations.

His non verbal communication was just his facial expressions that his players and assistant coaches
can see. His team was losing for most of the game and you could tell he was not happy. Penn State
returned the opening kick off and he looked disappointed, but he kind of kept his composure. Later in
the 2nd quarter during another kick return that was returned pretty far by Penn State his anger was a
little more visible as he was yelling and appeared very angry. Later once Ohio State started to play
better you could see his attitude change and he got happier. I m not sure if his negative attitude made

Reinforcement techniques are used to increase or decrease a behavior. During a game, especially on
the stage that Urban Meyer is coaching, it is important for his players to play well. Some techniques
that Urban Meyer used to reinforce his players during the game I observed were negative discipline.
His special teams were struggling a lot, especially his kickoff team. They were playing so bad that he
decided to remove multiple players from it and add starters from other positions onto the kick off team
to try and have better success. This shows that if you want to play, you have to perform.

In this experiment we used two techniques for the reactions of enolate ions with carbonyl groups. One
technique used was Doebner reaction and the other technique used was Claisen Schmidt reaction.
Therefore the aim of this experiment is to synthesize trans p methoxycinnamic acid and to synthesize
dibenzalacetone via an aldol condensation reaction between acetone and benzaldehyde. The products
would be recrystallized using ethanol, then characterized using melting point analysis.
