Boeing A Working Title...
Boeing
History
(Encyclopedia Britannica) Boeing can trace its origins all the way back to 1916. American timber
merchant William E. Boeing founded the Aero Products Company after he and U.S. Navy officer
Conrad Westervelt develop a single engine seaplane. The seaplane was called the B W Seaplane. In
1917 the company was renamed Boeing Airplane Company. Also in 1917 Boeing would go on to
produce seaplanes for the US Navy. Also in 1917 Boeing would go on to produce seaplanes for
the US Navy. Thus starting a long and lucrative relationship between Boeing and the U.S. Armed
Forces. From the 1920s to the 1930s Boeing produced a vast array of aircraft for the U.S. Military.
This included training planes, pursuit planes, observation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This allowed a pilot who trained in one aircraft to virtually be able to fly the other thus reducing
crew training cost and increasing productivity for the airlines. As the years passed technology
increased. Traditionally when Boeing designed an airplane they would have to build a mock up.
With the advancement of the computer, the need to build mock ups were no more. The 777 was
developed fully on computers. In 1991 Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and General Dynamics teamed
up to build a new stealth fighter for the United States military. The aircraft would later be called
the F 22 Raptor. In 1995 Boeing joined Ukrainian, Russian, and Norway, to form Sea Launch. It
was a commercial launch services that sent satellites into orbit. In 2008 Boeing began taking
orders for its new 787 Dreamliner. With fuel costs on the rise in the late 2000s, many airlines saw
the 787 as a way to upgrade their fleet. The 787 was faced with several production problems. Some
of which included the failure of a crucial fuselage section. Consequently, the 787 was not delivered
until 2011. On January 2013 the Federal Aviation Administration issued an airworthiness directive
forcing all 787 to be grounded. Until the

Walter LeeВґs Evolution in A Raisin In the Sun by Lorraine...
In many works of literature, some characters change and grow while others remain the same. A
character who changes is known as a dynamic character. In the novel A Raisin In the Sun by
Lorraine Hansberry, the main character, Walter Lee Younger, is an example of a dynamic
character. Walter lives with his wife Ruth, his sister Beneatha, his son Travis, and his mother
Lena in a small, one family apartment in the southside of Chicago. The black Younger family
lived in a time period between 1945 and 1959 when black segregation was starting to become
more recognized. They are barely making it through life moneywise and the family seems to be
becoming weaker. Walter is an example of a dynamic characterbecause his character evolves
throughout the novelby changing from a selfless, caring, family man to a very selfish person,
only looking out for himself. Walters idea of an american dream is to have everything. He wants
his family to have the best of everything. Walter works hard everyday as a chauffeur for a rich
white man. He has strong work ethics and works extremely hard. Mr. Younger wants to earn as
much money as he can because he believes it will bring his family peacefulness and happiness.
Mr. Younger s main goal is to have money and he dreams up so many different ways to make
money that he is sometimes overwhelms himself. He doesn t want to think about reality and how
things really are. He only concentrates on the future. Even though he knows in the back of

History of Physical Education Essay
Physical education is defined nowadays as a systematic instruction in sports, exercises, and
hygiene given as part of a school or college program (Park). When most people think of the term
physical education they think of it as a broad, inclusive term comprising the fields of physical
education, health education, safety education, athletics, recreation, dance education, kinesiology
and so on (Zeigler 1). It may sometimes be referred to as physical training or gym class and
mainly is taught in grades kindergarten all to the way up to your senior year in high school in the
United States. The history of physical educationdates way back to the Greek and Roman times and
has slowly evolved into what it is now today. There is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So things such as running, jumping, swimming, wrestling and boxing were all part of the Roman
education system and were used for military preparation as well. There were also sporting events
that the Roman Empire put on in honor of the gods they worshipped similar to that of the Greeks
(Siedentop 24 25).
Back in those days of the Greek and Roman women were not able to participate in physical
education and sport to the same degree as men, so they never had the same chances that men did.
Greeks would never let women partake in physical education, but the Romans were not quite as
harsh letting them occasionally do dancing or light exercise. Once the fall of the Roman Empire
happened it became what was known as the dark ages for physical education (Siedentop 25). It
was a period of 1,000 years in which physical activity, sport, and fitness diminished in importance
amid political and economic chaos (Siedentop 25).
The Roman and the Greek civilizations were a great influence on the European culture and
philosophies. Europeans then eventually came to settle in America (Siedentop 24). This meant that
early ideas and perspective on physical education in the United States were based on European
traditions and beliefs which were based on the Roman and Greek culture.
Physical education did not really start to make a comeback until the seventeenth and eighteenth
century. This is around the time when the European settlers were migrating

Success Of Friend Z s A Regional Based Coffee House
The success of Friend Z s, a regional based coffee house in the United States, is in its tenth year
of business. The small business venture, which began as a cooperative college project, has grown
into one of the best coffee houses on the college scene. Friend Z s success has sparked the interest
of its partners to take their small businessto the next level by expanding into the global market.
Competing globally would allow Friend Z s Coffee House to take advantage of a larger customer
base, opportunity to be a stronger competitor, and thrive in diverse environments. Friend Z s
international business will increase their client base with every new opening. They are not
restricted by location or tied a region with failing economics. Therefore, opening Friend Z s to the
option of an online market. Friend Z s will be able to rise as a stronger competitor in the coffee
market, especially in countries with fewer competitors. The presentation of the coffee house will
be crucial for becoming comparable or communicating its uniqueness. Friend Z s existence in the
global market opens up their business worldwide. This business move releases dependency on the
local or regional market in the United States, reduces growth restraints, and allows movement
from potential economic unrest. The advantages of Friend Z s beginning a global business are
promising, but it would be wise to consider the possible negative factors before going global.

to go. Abby was old enough because 16 is the legal age to drive so if she can drive she should have

Management By Exception-Active (Fb-A)
At one point or time everyone has dreamed of that perfect leader. Whether or not we achieve that
status can vary with many different situations. Over the short amount of time attending this class
we ve learned about many different leadership behaviors. One behavior that hit home to me and I
find important is managementby exception active (MBE A).
I m sure we ve all had that strict father or mother that was always watching us making sure we
cleaned our room, did our homework, and came home on time. MBE A keeps people and processes
in control, monitoring and controlling followers through forced compliance with rules, regulations,
and expectations for meeting performance standards and behavioral norms (Mod 3 Full Range

The Naval Battle of Port Royal was fought on November 3rd 7th 1861. Port Royal was a
Confederate city on the South Carolina coast. It was defended by 2 forts at the entrance to its
harbor named Fort Walker and Fort Beauregard. On November 3rd the attack under Union naval
officer Du Pont led a navy attack of 14 warships, 26 supply ships, 25 transports for 12,000 troops,
and the flagship The Wabash. The Confederates also had some small ships to defend the harbor
including a converted tugboat which each had about 2 to 3 guns each. The Union engaged the
confederate ships and easily defeated them. The warships bombarded the two forts until Du Pont

Feminsim in Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel Essay
How does the author of Like Water for Chocolate depict her feminist views and how do they
contribute to two different themes of the novel? In the novel Like Water for Chocolate, Laura
Esquivel exposes her strong feminist attitude through a controlling first person limited narration and
a detailed, descriptive portrayal of the characters. This exploitation of feminist views supports two
major themes: change in traditional attitudes towards authority and freedom of expression. In this
novel, Laura Esquivel shows how Mexican women can overcome the powerful traditional authority
of men and the traditional mindset of women; and how women can overcome society s suppression
and express themselves freely. . These two themes have a direct... Show more content on

The narrator can manipulate certain vies on certain characters. For example, throughout the novel
the reader obtains Tita s bashful point of view on Rosaura and Mama Elena s arrogance and
ignorance. If the narration would be something like third person omniscient, it would be up to the
reader to decide whether or not you think Tita is saying the truth, or if she s just being a selfish,
immature teenager that can handle growing up. Esquivel uses the first person narrator to implore
her feminist message and point of vie across to the reader
Change in attitude towards authority and freedom of expression can be seen through the way the
narrator creates sympathy for Tita and creates a masculine, authoritative character for Mama
Elena. Tita represents the woman who can think as an individual moving on and changing
dominant authoritative views on her and that can express herself freely. Mama Elena has the
mannish attitude and character because she represents the woman that has already gone through
years of suppression and plans to suppress her daughter just like they did to her. Tita being the
last child is obliged to take care of her mother until she passes away, this silly tradition does not
let her marry or have a family of her own. Mama Elena also can also represent men, who have
suppressed women forever in Mexico; but Laura Esquivel s main intention is to show woman s
suppression of women. A change in attitude toward authority

Impact Of Executive Orders On Society
Presidential Executive Orders and The Social Impact on American Society American Presidents are
constrained in the power they can wield because of the separation of powers between the branches
of government. Presidents use executive orders to compensate for their limited power. Presidents
have also taken unilateral action to address the needs and concerns of important political
constituencies before Congress is ready to act. (Gitterman 2017) Executive orders assume three
forms: 1) self executing, orders that are dependent on government agencies implementing the order,
2) Altering institutional structures and processes, and 3) Symbolic arguing tools. (Mayer 2001)
Presidents also gain more control through unilateralism and collection action because the president
s order is also considered a command; when this command is given to the executive branch, it
conforms to the president s will. (Rudalevige 2012) Presidents must remember that they can be
noble, but when they apply their personal beliefs to executive orders, while ignoring public
sentiment, executive opinions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Cooper 2001) Executive orders can also influence program funding, such as welfare and food
assistance, healthcare, and social security under vague legislative instructions directing agencies
to decrease funds to the programs. (Orentlicher 2017) Economic policies of the federal
government are often influenced by executive orders that can cause an increase or decrease in
federal revenue; a weak economy with higher taxes makes it harder for families in poverty to meet
basic needs, but a strong long term economy provides increased revenue to the federal government,
which could be used to fund more social programs and reduce the poverty rate. (Gittell

The Laptop Market Is A Thoroughly Saturated One
The laptop market is a thoroughly saturated one. The range of uses of a laptop today is quite
diverse. The low end being the Chromebook and netbooks, an ultra light and ultra portable PC.
These devices are used for surfing the web and some light word processing. Then we have the
high end, being the enthusiast laptops; Asus ROG and MSI have cornered the market in this
group. They are not so portable and are generally heavier machines, but are the best of the best for

expect many consumers to visit the site based solely on this poor presentation. There is no
excuse for any company, whose best selling product comes in just under a thousand dollars, to
have such a disappointing website. Even still amongst the amalgamation of gray and light gray,
there is a reprieve. Their products are well organized on the site and rightfully so; they had to get
it right somewhere. They offer a fairly large range of laptops for different budgets. Among their
proprietary offerings, they have some third party products as well. One might think this may be
the path chosen to obtain the capital for the Deleware based company in a market so thoroughly
glutted with overseas based companies. It begs the question, however, if more time and
resources were spent on presentation and advertising would they not show better sales? When

West Point Crew Team Case Study
Faced with an unfamiliar problem, Coach P, of the West Point Crew team, had a JV boat that was
consistently outperforming the Varsity team on different measures. Upon preliminary analysis, it
appears that the problem is simple: the selection of the varsity team was flawed and many of the
athletes were misjudged and subsequently misplaced. However, the coach analyzed this possible
flaw through seat races and even decided to demote varsity rowers to the JV team and JV rowers to
the varsity team; the unlikely outcome was that the JV boat would win by even more, meaning that
the demoted rower actually made the JV boat faster. This unlikely outcome revealed a deeper flaw
within the Varsity team s attitudes and motivations that sharply contrasted with those of the Junior

Limitations Of The UCI School Of Law
A limitation of this study was that there were only two different law classes observed and only
two interviews conducted. Through this study, over 8 hours of data collection. The classes at both
these observation sites were in different material, one being Criminal Law and the other being
Immigration Law and Policy, which may have been a limitation. This may have been a limitation
because there may be different students oriented towards these areas of law that could have
affected their responses. In addition, there was an unequal gender distribution of interviewees,
considering that both were female. In addition, these two sites provided different sample sizes, the

Another credibility issue at these two observation sites is a difference in rankings, since the
University of California, Irvine School of Law is the twenty eighth best law school in the United
States, while no rank is published for Whittier Law School. There was also a bias in choosing both
these settings, given that they are both situated in Orange County. I am also an undergraduate
student at the University of California, Irvine, so I was familiar with the campus and the navigating
through the course schedules.
Implications
The findings of the current study have multiple purposes for the legal education system. These
results can be useful for current law school professors and students interested in pursuing a legal
education. Data shows that rankings have an impact on the prospective decisions of law students
and that it can shape their opinions on where to go to law school, but rejects important variables
that could affect the student s experience at the school. In expanding the variables taken into
consideration by these rankings, the U.S. News World Report could provide more realistic ratings
that enable students to choose a college that would be a good fit for them. Data shows the main goal
for law students is to become professionals and gain knowledge, instead of practicing law. Based on
these findings, it would be important to educate these students more about the legal professional
and other graduate programs during undergraduate education. Also,

Research Paper On Brown Dwarfs
The life and death of a star is both interesting and complicated. The formation of a star might not
be as simple as you think. Some stars actually fail to form big enough to ever be seen. You might
also believe that a star will shine forever. However, stars can also lose their energy, causing them
to become other types of formations. Stars can be complex anomalies that can end up in several
forms including neutron stars, brown dwarfs, and white dwarfs. Starformation is a rather simple
process. Gasses in space clump together with dust and rock. Over millions of years these materials
begin to form small orbs. Eventually it the clump will get big enough to create gravity. The core
will become hot from the constant pressure and will use hydrogen to make helium using nuclear
fusion. This fusions creates a tremendous amount of energy creating a fiery ball in space.... Show

A brown dwarf forms when a star fails to form. This is why brown dwarfs are often referred to as
failed stars . When a star is forming it has to create enough fusion to generate enough energy.
Brown dwarfs do not get large enough to be able to sustain nuclear fusion. These dwarfs are
called brown because even though they do not shine brightly they still have little heat in their
core to give it a small glow. After a brown dwarf has formed it will star in space with its glow of
millions of years. White dwarfs are an effect of small star deaths. White dwarfs form when a star
runs out of hydrogen to create energy with using nuclear fusion. The star s gravity takes over
due to no energy pushing back. The star then becomes extremely dense forcing atoms together.
The hot ball is then left in space to cool over billions of years. No known white dwarf has ever
cooled because the universe is only 13.7 billion years old and some of the first white dwarfs are
still thousands of degrees

The Environmental Effects Of Landfills
Not many people know that their trash ends up in a landfill or what it is doing to the
environment. When trash ends up in a landfill it builds up in to a lager pile, starts to release
toxic gases, and pollutes the ground it sits on. Most of the time the trash is burned to make
more room for more trash. Landfills have a big effect on the environment. Landfills make gas
composition. Is there a way to use LFG to our benefit? How many landfills are being used for
their gases in the United States? Some companies are working on using the toxic gases to our
benefit. Even animals are being affected by the trash in landfills. What can people do to help
reduce the trash in landfills? When trash ends up in a landfill it does not decompose like compost
it just sits there because there is lack of oxygenand low amounts of moisture, so it does not break
down very rapidly. Because the trash just sits there, it starts to release gases like sulfur dioxide,
methane, ammonia, hydrogen, and nitrogen oxide. All of those are very toxic for the environment.
The gases in a landfill can move thought soil and collect inside building or homes that are nearby.
These gases can cause health problems for people that breathe them in or are nearby.
Once hydrogen sulfide and ammonia are in the air, it causes coughing, and irritation to people s
eyes, nose, and even the throat. Out of both chemicals, hydrogen sulfide has a foul smell, such as,
rotten eggs while ammonia has a stronger foul smell, such as

What Is The Rule For Forming Questions Within The Simple...
Question 5 (10 points)
What is the rule for forming questions in the simple present and simple past in English?
Questions in the simple present can be formed in a couple of ways with questions lacking
question words such as Do and Does (examples: Do you read short stories? and Does Frank play
the violin?), and questions containing question words such as What, When, and Where (examples:
What do you type on your laptop?, When does your brother go to school, and Where do you visit
your relatives?). To form a question in the simple past, the auxiliary did and the infinitive form of
the verb are needed; some examples would include Did I play baseball?, Did you play baseball?,
and Did he play baseball?
Question 6 (10 points)
Give 3 situations in which it is appropriate to use the present perfect.
The present perfect tense pertains to talking about things in which a connection exists between the
past and the present. For example, She has written five songs. So she began writing songs at some
point in the past. Up to now, she has written five songs. She could write additional songs.
Accordingly, three situations in which it is appropriate to use the present perfect would include
unfinished actions, finished actions, and with been and gone. The present perfect is appropriate
when referring to unfinished states, actions, or habits that began in the past and still apply to the
present. It typically is indicated for how long with the words since or for needed.

What Does Maine Mean To Me Essay
I may be an elected senator for the great state of Maine, but one of the best experiences in my life
was simply growing up in Hancock county on the edges of Acadia National Park. I would venture
into Bar Harbor sometimes to watch the fisherman bring in the day s findings and see how excited
the tourists were to go whale watching. Just walking around, people watching as I liked to do, I
learned a lot about our states industries and what made the economy thrive, the other crazy, lucky
inhabitants of our beautiful state, and the issues that plagued it, too. The MaineI grew up in is not
the same state that I represent today, which is why I ran for this office in the first place. I know
Maine. I love Maine. Everything I do, is in the best interest of Maine.
The demographic makeup of our state has changed dramatically over the last couple decades. Our
population is getting older, transitioning out of the work force and child bearing years.
Individuals under 18 and between the ages of 50 and 64 are the predominant age groups and the
young citizens we do have are not enough to replace the baby boomer generation. Our state s
population is growing ever so slightly, but it is due to migration into the state, evident by our death

in order to do that, I have a different plan of allocation. Rather than direct cash assistance, I want
our welfare system to focus on food assistance programs, utility subsidies, benefits to those pursuing

Characteristics Of Torakku Yaro
6. Torakku Yaro (10 films, 1975 1979)
Norifumi Suzuki and Bunta Sugawara have already become famous, particularly through the
plethora of exploitation films they worked in. As the genre started to lose its appeal, major studios
turned to romantic comedies with some elements of action. Torakku Yaro, with the first directing
and the second starring, was one of the most successful.
Sugawara plays Momojiro Hoshi, a truck driver who drives around Japan, along with his colleague
Kinzo Matsushita. All ten of the films follow a similar formula. Momojiro falls in love with a
woman, but ends up having to help her relationship with another man, while the ending always
features a truck race.

Zatoichi (27 films, 1962 2003)
This particular title became globally known to the public through Takeshi Kitano s 2003 movie, The
Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi . However, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Before Kitano s movie,
there have been 26 more.
Let us take things from the beginning though. Our hero s first appearance was in a small story
by Kan Shimozawa, titled Zatoichi, although the concept, as a whole, was based on a secondary
character of this story, a blind gambler. He could guess what the dice would bring almost every
time. According to the Library of Congress, the story was included in a book titled Futokoro
Techo, which was first published in Japan by Chuo Koronsha in 1961.
The idea to write a Zatoichi movie came from Shintaro Katsu, who came to be the man behind the
hero, since he was the leading actor in all of the initial 26 movies (and director in the last) and also
in the TV series. The production company that took on the project was Daiei Studios.
The films were set during the Tokugawa era, where, except for some samurai that were under
government service, the rest of the samurai were forbidden to carry any weapon. It was the reason
Zatoichi carries his sword disguised as a cane, a rather popular weapon at that time, named

Advertisements And The Appeal Of Fear
Dionne Delgado Ms.Westmoreland Green ENGL 1321 02 April 22, 2016 Advertisements and
the Appeal to Fear Advertisements can be positive and negative in a person s day to day life.
Advertisements are all around us. Advertisements can be found on t.v., internet, magazines and
on billboards. Some of these advertisements help decide what people should spend money on.
Those advertisements give people so many different choices on what clothes and makeup people
want to buy, what different foods are out there to satisfy the different cravings people have or
what exotic vacation destination to take. The one advertisement that sticks out the most to me are
the advertisements about drinking and driving. Advertisers and Advertisements use the fear
appeal to get these driver s attention to stop and face the reality of what drinking and driving
will do to themselves and to others. Drinking and driving is a huge problem. When you are under
the influence of alcohol you are putting yourself and others at risk for injuries and even death.
Budweiser created a commercial Simply Put with actress Helen Mirren during the 2016 super
bowl. Budweiser wanted to use this commercial to convey the dangers of drinking and getting
behind the wheel. During this commercial Helen Mirren said that she denounces anyone who is
willing to put their life or anyone s life in danger while under the influence of alcohol. She

Fear Essay
What is fear? Is fear just a protective mechanism our brain creates when we encounter a
problem? Would an example of fear be that I am afraid my essay is going to be exactly like
everybody else s? Fear is the brain s way of saying that their is something for you to
overcome.(Rachel Huber) I believe in this quote Ms.Huber is trying to explain that when we
encounter a problem we become so worried that we are not going to do well at the task at hand
that we begin to fear the obstacle. Though at times we may let our fears prevent us from making
choice we shouldn t let them create a cagearound us from all opportunity. Can fear have the power

In stanza five the poem states, But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts
on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing. I
believe this stanza has a far deeper meaning than what it appears. The bird standing on a grave of
dreams represents the person who will not try to find a brighter future, but is afraid because they
don t want them to fail like the prior goals they have had. When this stanza states, ...his shadow
shouts on a nightmare scream... , I feel it is saying that the person s fear of repeating the same
mistakes continue to haunt them as if they are screaming within their own thoughts. They are too
busy focusing on the more challenging parts of life, and overlooking what good life holds. I
believe if this bird had enough faith in itself it could be the free bird it always wanted to be. I feel
that my theory could also tie in with how the author, Maya Angelou, lived. Maya Angelou was a
woman that many would describe as phenomenal. Her personal history was extremely inspiring.
She is very wise and knew a great quantity about life. Maya Angelou once said, What is a fear of
living? It s being preeminently afraid of dying. It is not doing what you came here to do, out of
timidity and spinelessness. The antidote is to take full responsibility for yourself for the time you
take up and the space you occupy. If you don t know what you re here to do, then just do some

Mobile Phone Disadvantages
Introduction Everyday people use cell phones. People use their cell phones for a lot of things.
Whether it s for work, for leisure, and even because there s nothing else better to do. Some
people don t put their phones down for hours, unless they are recommended to or forced to put
them down. Some people can t operate without their cell phones. The average person checks
their phone a lot. Numbers vary from as low to 45 all the way up to 110 times a day a person
checks their phone. That s a lot if you think about it. We have 24 hours in a day where we mostly
sleep. So, count the hours we are awake we check our phones like 3 or 4 times in an hour.
Especially if you are expecting a special call, a special email or text. You might even just stare at
the phone until you receive it. People these days don t know about how hard it used to be to go
on the internet and look for stuff. It wasn t always that simple. Basically, what I m trying to state
in my paper is the pros of a cell phone and cons of cell phones as well. I m going to tell you
advantages and disadvantages of cell phones. I want to aim my paper to the audience of
America, to kids everywhere and adults too. I want to state information, facts, and opinions on

Human s Obsession with the Pretty One
Chasing Beauty
Sitting in a bar a few nights ago I noticed two women sitting at a table by themselves. It wasn t
long till a group of four guys asked to join them. As the men pulled up chairs they concentrated
heavily to one side of the table. It didn t take long to figure out they were all pining after the more
attractive of the two women. Why does the pretty woman get all the attention and free drinks, and
her homely friend blends into the wallpaper? We all know attractive people get treated better. It s
so ingrained in human evolution to chase after attractive qualities, and it shapes our every day lives.
Advertising is a good example of our affinity for beauty. Magazines, television, billboards, and
Internet pop up ads use attractive people to sell products. We end up chasing products that we
believe will make us healthier, better looking, or covers our physical flaws. They get beautiful
models and actresses to make consumers think the product is what makes the models and actresses
attractive. This tactic is so effective because it plays on our desire to be attractive. The more
attractive we are the better sexual mates we can attract. Martial arts expert Chuck Norris endorses a
home workout product called the Total Gym. We see Chuck Norris using the product in the
commercials, yet it had nothing to do with the level of fitness he achieved. It doesn t matter
though. We see the extremely fit man using a product so we think if we use it as well we to can be
in that kind

How Public Opinion Changed the Course of the Vietnam War
The Vietnam War certainly left a distaste in the lives of many who have been affected by the war;
scholars have become increasingly interested in the interaction between war and public opinion.
There have been many scholarly works published on the Vietnam War, but the issue that will be
analyzed here is how public opinion changed the course of the war. The first article by Scott
Gartner and Gary Segura is titled, Race, Casualties, and Opinion in the VietnamWar, it examined
how the diverse races within America in combination with the atrocities in the war led to the
formation of opinions that were similar in one race but were different in another race. The second

The last study that will be analyzed however, does not frame their research in that manner, instead,
the purpose of this study is to assess the impact of anti Vietnam war demonstrations in the U.S.A.
on the changes in the American public s views about the war. There is general consensus among
Verba, Brody and Schreiber that the polls did not serve as an adequate metric for determining
whether the war was truly out of touch with many. Schreiber referred to the demonstrations, noting
that many members of the public simply do not mentally join together This could lead to the
formation of two conclusions according to Schreiber; one being that demonstrations had no effect
in altering public opinion, and the other being that those demonstrations had great effect in
communicating with the public. The major point to be gleaned from this review is that there is no
evidence that shows an effect of anti Vietnam war demonstrations on reducing American public
support for the war in Vietnam. Schreiber then goes on to reiterate the point

Summary OfThe Monkey s Paw, And The House Of The Scorpion
The writer, Erik Pevernagie, once said, When ideas evaporate, when shapes fade and forms lose
their integrity, our imagination can create an outlandish setting and convert everything into a hazy,
misty Turner landscape. ( Back garden of a dream ) .
Many writers often use specific words and details to help bring the reader into the story. By
using these words the writer helps develop a setting, and it brings the reader into, and be able to
experience it as if they were there. In the story, The Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs, and the novel
,
The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the author uses descriptive adjectives to help
develop the setting. To start off, the author uses descriptive adjectives in The Monkey s Paw, to
develop setting in the story. This helps the reader see and feel the setting as if they were really
there. In addition, the quote, Without, the night was cold and wet, but in the small Laburnum
Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly, helps to achieve a better setting. The
quote helps to set the stage of the story, while also bringing a warm, and inviting kind of mood.
Saying that the fire burned brightly brings a comforting feeling to the reader like they are with
the character s in the story. To follow that, another example of descriptive adjectives would be, A
cold wind rushed up the staircase, and a long loud wail of disappointment and misery from his
wife gave him the courage to run down to her side, and then to the gate

Essay On The GAA In 1916
Although there were some significant changes evident in the GAA in Dublin in 1917 the majority
of the Association in Dublin remained the same as before.
The GAA in Dublin had a large increase in the number of clubs affiliated to it since the 1915
convention, with seventy clubs listed at the Annual Convention of 1916 which was held on 14
January 1917. Some of the new clubs were named in memory of those killed during the 1916.1
William Nolan notes that the Volunteers from North Dublin, founded the Thomas Weafer GAA
Club, in memory of the Wexford born member of the GPO Garrison, whose brother Patrick, a
member of St Laurence O Tooles GAA club who had also fought in the same Garrison.2 It is also
important to note that Erin s Isle GAA club in Finglas, was founded in January 1917 by a number

Many historians such as David Fitzpatrick claim that the increase in the number of spectators was
due to the fact that the GAA had become radicalised in the nationalist culture of Ireland during
19178 but it could also be argued that the reason for the increase was the fact that the GAA in
Dublin had seventy clubs in January 1917, a number which grew to eighty eight clubs by the 1917
convention, held on 3 February 1918. This was a significant number on the amount of clubs in
Kilkenny (Tipperary s opponents in 1916) which had an estimated sixteen clubs.9Therefore, Dublin
had more members and significantly also the game was played at Croke Park meaning that the
spectators in Dublin were not required to travel long distances to the final in 1917 whereas the
spectators of the teams in the 1916 had to do

My Name In My Family
Often names are chosen for a variety of different reasons; maybe the parents just liked it, it might

before my birth. There are countless reasons my parents chose my first and middle name, but the
biggest decision they had to make was choosing my first name. Through the years before my birth a
tragedy struck my family, and it brought great heartache to many. Although this tragedy brought
great sorrow to the members of my family, my parents were able to take this pain and form it into
a base for the name of their next child. A few years before my birth, in 1998, the death of my uncle

family; he had a large influence on everyone he met and had close relationships with all four of
his siblings, including my mother Lorraine. Since this greatly affected my mother, she wanted to

The Original Ancient Olympic Games Essay
The original ancient Olympic Games can be followed back to 776 B.C although per Homer s
Iliad they may have existed as early as the twelfth century BC. The Games proceeded for twelve
centuries and were devoted to Olympian deities. Olympia turned into the site of these memorable
ancient Olympic games that scattered the seeds for the most desired global sporting events of
current times, the Modern Olympics. The location of the Ancient Olympics is situated in the
western piece of Peloponnese. As per Greek mythology, Peloponnese is the island of Pelops, the
Founder of the Olympic Games. The Ancient Olympic Gameswere sustained until 393 A.D when
Emperor Theodosius I of Rome discontinued them. There were not any Olympic games for fifteen
hundred years before they were resurrected in 1896 in the city of Athens. The man in charge of its
resurrection was a Frenchman named Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who introduced the thought in
1894. His innovative idea was to uncover the present day Games in 1900 in his local Paris,
however appoints from 34 nations were so captivated with the idea that they persuaded him to move
the Games up to 1896 and have Athens serve as the main host.
The antiquated Olympic Games started, when Koroibos, a cook from the close by city of Elis,
won the stadium race, a foot race 600 feet long. This was the only athletic competition of the
Olympics for the initial 13 Olympic games or until 724 BC. The Olympic Games, initially

Compare And Contrast Freud Vs Hobsbawm
Philosophers Sigmund Freud and Eric Hobsbawm present two explanations of the origins of
civilization in their books Civilization and its Discontent and Nations and Nationalism since 1780,

civilization. According to Freud, civilizationdescribes the whole sum of the achievements and the

distinct features of a civilization, such as beauty, the encouragement of man s higher mental

consciousness, therefore, of belonging to a nation requires the citizens of a country (to become) a

and symbols. (Hobsbawm, 90) This foundational development is essentially one of patriotism, in
which the individual evokes a feeling of loyalty and pride in their nation through symbols,
language and ethnicity. While these feelings of pro nationalism may occur, if an individual is, for
instance, to have thoughts of desire to burn the national flag or act in an anti nationalist way, then
they will have feelings of guilt. Freud explains that the origins of the sense of guilt (are): one
arising from fear of an authority, and the other, later on, arising from fear of the super ego. (Freud,

perverted thoughts. One can additionally apply this to the original ways in which

following questions in paragraph form. This is a short answer worksheet, not an essay composition.
1. What is philosophy? Include a brief description of the different branches of philosophy
Philosophy is the pursuit of knowledge or wisdom generally topic specific. Philosophers aim to
answer three main questions which have become the three primary branches of technology.
Metaphysics seeks to answer questions relating to being or existence. Epistemology seeks to answer
questions relating to knowledge (criteria, sources, limits, ect.). The third branch of philosophy

4. Identify and define at least two fallacies. Give an example from your personal experience (what
you have heard, read, or said) for each fallacy.
One fallacy that we all have seen used frequently in recent months is the Argumentum ad hominem
(argument against the person) This is a fallacy where you use characteristics or events that a
person was involved in and use those to discredit their beliefs or statements. During the 2012
elections this tactic was used heavily during the debates and promo spots for both parties. A
second favored fallacy is the False dilemma Fallacy. According to the text this is where you offer
two choices (usually only one favorable) when more exist to prove that the favorable option is the
best or only valid option. I use this fallacy often with my children. At desert time I give them the
option of a desert or no desert. Sometimes they do not like the desert choice I have made in which
their choice becomes what I offered or nothing. Now technically there are several other desert
options that I would give the. I use this as a reinforcement technique to foster thankfulness and
obedience.
5. Why do we attempt to avoid fallacies?
We attempt to avoid fallacies because they negate truth and leave us open to criticism on our
beliefs. The use of fallacies can also create a stigma around the facts we

Developing Children s (3 8 years) Mathematical Skills
E1
There are different national frameworks and policies that are used for the development of
mathematical learning from 3 to 8 years old.
One of these is the Childcare Act 2006. The Childcare Act is an update on the Children Act 2004.
It basically makes sure that local authorities reduce any inequalities in their individual areas by
providing an integrated service for children and their families. They make it so that each local area
has the appropriate provision to help the care and learning of all children aged 3 or 4, and a free
minimum amount of provision should be available. Parents have a right to obtain information for
their child, and Section 12 of the Act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could become an activity by ordering the bricks or sorting the bricks into different colours or
different shapes and sizes. This could be an activity for an age range of between 3 5 years old,
depending on the mathematical development of the individual children.
E4
The seven strands that are part of the mathematical framework are: * Using and applying
mathematics * Counting and understanding number * Knowing and using number facts *
Calculating * Understanding shape * Measuring * Handling data *
The first activity of water play with different sized beakers, would come under the measuring
strand of the mathematical framework, but could also come under the understanding shape strand
due to the fact that there were beakers being used that were different sizes and possibly shape, for
example even though beakers are usually cylinders, there could have been some beakers used that
were cuboids or even pyramids to help with creativity since beakers don t have to all be the same
so children broaden their horizons and think outside the box .
The second activity which involved coloured bricks would come under the Understanding shape
strand of the mathematical framework but perhaps could also come under Calculating, if the
bricks had numbers on the or if you were counting the bricks or if the activity involved having a 2
or 3 groups of bricks with different

Earthquake Intensities
Earthquake Intensities
Earthquakes are a marvel of geology. When faults under the surface of the earth move, the ground
moves. These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far
reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for
centuries but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by
scientists regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less
accurate means of measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists.
Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then
only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s
intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of
an earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the
comparable damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps
which would show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas.
Although this was helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data.
In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. An
American version of the Mercalli system was incorporated in 1931. This system judged intensity of
earthquakes based upon the ways California

Negative Effects Of Bullying
I.Introduction: Mistreatment and intimidation are common occurrences within childhood and
adolescent peer groups. These actions can be detrimental to the social relationships of those
involved, leaving an enduring impact on one s ability to socialize and interact with those around
them. Due to the severity of the potential harm bullyingcan cause, much research has been
conducted on how bullying can influence the lives and actions of those associated with it. In order
to address the issue of bullying, one must first understand not only the impact it may have, but the
factors that influence how those involved are affected. These factors include the role one plays in
the bullying, the method through which the bullying occurs, and the gender of the victim. This
research has demonstrated how complex the relationship between victims of bullying and their
fellow peers can be, as well as how damaging this phenomena is on those who experience it.
II.First Theme: The negative effects of bullying extent beyond the individual targeted, leaving a
lasting impact on all parties involved.
1.First Point: Though bullying has a significant impact on victim themselves, it also affects the
social relationships of both the aggressor and of any student who witnesses events (Pouwels, 2016;
You, 2016).
2.Second Point: Victims of mistreatment among peers report having fewer friendships, feeling less
optimistic about peer relationships, having higher feelings of loneliness, and feeling less

interactive architectural pattern. A brief introduction of MVC architectural pattern is defined in
below section.
MVC architectural pattern is most extensively used by software architect designer, programmer and
GUI developer while developing the user interactive applications. The MVC architectural pattern
contains three types of architectural units or components: Model, View and Controller which
actually separate the complete application logic to three logical units: business/entity (model),
presentation (view) and control (controller). The model component contains business logic and

Essay on The Silences in Mansfield Park
The silences in Mansfield Park reveal the nature of each character. Fanny s silences reveal her
inner self, the core of morals. They reveal that while Fanny looks like a timid, frail being but
inside she possess a set of principle that are unyielding to any outside force. Through her silence,
Fanny becomes the selfless conscience of Mansfield Park. Fanny is strong willed in her steady
continual silence. She is sole unmoving thing in a fluid, ever moving time.
Fanny grew up in a large, ever growing household, where quiet was so hard to come by. In the
Price household, Fanny was the opposite of her family. She was timid and shy; they were
rambunctious. Fanny as already started to form her own demur. When Fanny arrives at Mansfield

Without their conscience, they do things against the principles of the age. After a period of
solitude, the other walking trio finds her. This trio is talking about what changes need to occur
at Sotherton; they talk about movement. Fanny stays quiet in the conversation until after Mr.
Rushworth has gone to fetch a key to unlock the gate, leaving Henry and Maria as a pair. Henry
starts to tempt Maria into doing something against what her principle should allow her to do.
Fanny, feeling all this to be wrong, could not help making an effort to prevent it. (93) Fanny
begins to act as Maria s conscience, but Maria won t allow Fanny to be her conscience. She jumps
and follows Henry away from her principles like her brother followed Henry s sister.
Fanny continually remains in the background for the duration of the play. Fanny listens to each
person s opinion on what play they should perform, a comedy or a tragedy. Fanny does not add
anything to the group because she knows it to be inappropriate that a play should be performed
without Sir Thomas s consent. Edmund speaks as a part of the conscience of Mansfield Park,
saying what Fanny thinks. Even after a play is decided upon, Fanny remains silent in background
like a conscience weighing on a person s mind. After the theater troupe starts to practice the play,
Fanny helps with the sewing for the play, helping but not participating in the inappropriate act. She
helps because

Each mitochondrion has a double layered membrane like the cell membrane, however the inner
layer is folder which produces shelves which are known as cristae, this is where the end stages
of glucose oxidation are located. The energy that has been released is stored until required by a
chemical battery called adenosine triphosphate. Endoplasmic reticulum: Endo means with in
and reticulum is a complex word meaning network. There are two variations to endoplasmic
reticulum (ER) which are rough and smooth. The ER is a branching network which fills the cell
interior; the channels are similar to the cell membrane they create passageways for transporting
materials to and from different parts of the cell. Rough ER is studded with tiny black bodies
known as ribosomes; they make cell protein and act as a temporary storage area. Smooth ER has no
attached ribosomes and is involved in the metabolism of lipids or fats. (Studios, A. (2014). Golgi
apparatus: This is a series of flattened, fluid filled sacs stacked like pancakes. The Golgi apparatus
is believed to package proteins for delivery to other organelles; it is also responsible for producing
lysosomes. Lysosomes: Lysosomes can be found in all parts of the cell cytoplasm, they are also
small vesicles produced by the Golgi apparatus. As these are capable of digesting all major
chemical components of living cells they are also called suicide bags. They are free to travel
throughout the cell; they destroy

Hrm Labor Relations Paper
Being an HR manager in any company requires a lot of carefulness and tact. The HR manager is
responsible for hearing out the employees and making sure that the work environment is conducive
for them. There are always problem to foresee. For example, when there is talk of unionizing and
the HR manager hears about this, something has to be done immediately. This is the case with these
four companies. Acme Auto Parts, The Zinnia, School District 273 and Woodville Healthcare are
all relatively small companies that seem to be compensating their employees properly. However,
there have been talks about unionizing. There are even petitions being signed. As an HR manager,
these matters need to be handled appropriately and carefully. Acme Auto... Show more content on

The article, The Concession Trap: Auto Worker Givebacks and Labor s Future, talks about how
the UAW failed to get their requests because the Big Three companies has had financial problems.
The employees also need to be informed about this. They need to know the background and history
of the union that is trying to contact them. I know this is an attempt to form a union because the
first step involves initiating an organizing drive. There could be three initiators: one or more
employees, a union or an employer. In this particular case, the union is trying to initiate the
organization. They are trying to contact employees of Acme Auto Care and are trying to convince
them to unionize. These are some the justifications I would use to explain to upper management the
importance of immediate action regarding the matter. Similarly, The Zinnia is a 300 room hotel in
the central business district of a major Midwestern metropolitan area (Budd 2013). They are a
nonunion company. It seems that employees are happy with their wages and benefits. In
comparison to the other unionized hotels, The Zinnia employees are compensated fairly. Many of
the city s major hotels are unionized. The local union is not afraid to organize union activity and to
loudly vocalize their concerns through marches and demonstrations. Normally, this would not be a
concern but I recently received a notice from the NLRB that a petition was filed by the local hotel
union requesting an election covering

The Cud Life Concert Analysis
A few years ago, my cousin decided to take me to a concert as a birthday gift and I was so excited
because it was going to be my first concert which was a huge deal. We went to go see hip hop
artist, Kid Cudi on his The Cud Life tour. Prior to the concert, I had heard maybe one or two
albums of his but I didn t really love him as much as my cousins did. After the concert, my life
had been changed for I had been blessed; I was in the presence of a god. I remember, there was a
point in which he was talking to the crowd and told us to forget about all of our problems and that
that night was just about feeling good vibes and nothing less. Many people don t know who Kid
Cudiis; some people think he is just the product of Kanye West, (another hip hop artist who took
Cudi under his wing at the beginning of his music career), or they think of him as a one hit
wonder for his single, Day N Nite , (which has a really bouncy, upbeat vibe and usually people play
this song at clubs and parties) off of his most popular album, Man on The Moon: The End of Day.
What people fail to realize is that Kid Cudi is actually a talented artist who has a legendary soul
and the heart of a lion, and yes, his music could be rather explicit at times but that s part of what
makes him great.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

With Care , he talks about how sensitive, fragile, and delicate his heart is which is something
people never me because they feel vulnerable. Both of these songs really spoke to me because they
both demonstrate the fact that we re all human and it s perfectly okay to feel

Career Profile Of The Transition From School
I. INTRODUCTION
The transition from school to work can be challenging for students. It is our job to help you
identify your goal, acquire job searching skills and get prepare for the outside world. Janice Tester
(Career advisor, McGill University) Janice Tester has been working as a Career Advisor for
McGill Career planning Service Office (CaPS) for over 17 years. In 2014, I started to serve as a
peer educator in CaPS office and Janice became my supervisor since then. Despite the fact that we
worked closely together in the past two years, I never get a chance to know her accomplishments
in the job and how she perceive her work. This became my initial motivation to interview her.
Another reason is that, given the importance of career advising service in McGill, its performance
is difficult to evaluate. A throughout analysis on this position can be helpful for its performance
improvement. Several expectations for this position were developed during my working in CaPS.
Firstly, I expected career advisors to be business orientated, with backgrounds in human resource
management. Secondly, since their works involve mostly one on one consulting with students,
interactions with colleagues are limited and unnecessary. Thirdly, I expected that, career advisors
enjoy a high level of initiative. Instead of taking commands directly from their supervisor, they have

Scientific Management was comprised of four principles:
Every step of individuals work is analyzed in a scientific method to come up with the most
effective way for getting the work done. It is the way to develop and come up with the best
possible approach for an individual to preform a task by examining instruments needed and by
measuring the maximum amount of work a worker can do in a day.
Matching workers with the job that is best suited for them in a scientific method. According to
Taylor everyone was able to do his or her best in a specific job that was devised. The management
s role was to match the job with the worker that has the capability to do it and train them
accordingly.
Managers should provide supervision and cooperate with workers to make sure the job is done in
an effective way.
Mangers and workers responsibilities are divided, managers spend their time supervising and

  • 3. Walter LeeВґs Evolution in A Raisin In the Sun by Lorraine... In many works of literature, some characters change and grow while others remain the same. A character who changes is known as a dynamic character. In the novel A Raisin In the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, the main character, Walter Lee Younger, is an example of a dynamic character. Walter lives with his wife Ruth, his sister Beneatha, his son Travis, and his mother Lena in a small, one family apartment in the southside of Chicago. The black Younger family lived in a time period between 1945 and 1959 when black segregation was starting to become more recognized. They are barely making it through life moneywise and the family seems to be becoming weaker. Walter is an example of a dynamic characterbecause his character evolves throughout the novelby changing from a selfless, caring, family man to a very selfish person, only looking out for himself. Walters idea of an american dream is to have everything. He wants his family to have the best of everything. Walter works hard everyday as a chauffeur for a rich white man. He has strong work ethics and works extremely hard. Mr. Younger wants to earn as much money as he can because he believes it will bring his family peacefulness and happiness. Mr. Younger s main goal is to have money and he dreams up so many different ways to make money that he is sometimes overwhelms himself. He doesn t want to think about reality and how things really are. He only concentrates on the future. Even though he knows in the back of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Butler 305) What is truly frightening is that the massive re emergence slavery (and other problems that are prevalent the US in Parable violence, drugs, poverty) were not caused by some alien race or the robots taking over the Earth or an end of the world scenario like the nuclear war, but simply came to be because of humanity s inactivity, its refusal to deal with many social, economic, and environmental issues that plague our contemporary world. So things such as running, jumping, swimming, wrestling and boxing were all part of the Roman education system and were used for military preparation as well. There were also sporting events that the Roman Empire put on in honor of the gods they worshipped similar to that of the Greeks (Siedentop 24 25). Back in those days of the Greek and Roman women were not able to participate in physical education and sport to the same degree as men, so they never had the same chances that men did. Greeks would never let women partake in physical education, but the Romans were not quite as harsh letting them occasionally do dancing or light exercise. Once the fall of the Roman Empire happened it became what was known as the dark ages for physical education (Siedentop 25). It was a period of 1,000 years in which physical activity, sport, and fitness diminished in importance amid political and economic chaos (Siedentop 25). The Roman and the Greek civilizations were a great influence on the European culture and philosophies. Europeans then eventually came to settle in America (Siedentop 24). This meant that early ideas and perspective on physical education in the United States were based on European traditions and beliefs which were based on the Roman and Greek culture. And then there s the image taker, the nanny who lived a clandestine life as a street photographer. She s a woman whose now heralded work went undiscovered for decades. A womanabout whom an Oscar nominated documentary has been produced. Her name is Vivian Maier. And in this photographed moment at Glass Co., one captured by the Rolleiflex held at her chest, she looks phantasmal. For decades Maier captured interesting photographs of ordinary people, with a secret curiosity for culture. In her old age, she had failed to keep up payments for five storage lockers rooms where she stuffed art books, newspaper clippings and home. The lockers were emptied and their contents auctioned off. John Maloof, a real estate agent searching for old time photos for a book he was writing, bought a box of negatives from the lot for $400. Though the images didn t work for his project, a while later he scanned them and put up a selection on a website. The post went viral, and Maier who by that time had died became a posthumous media sensation.

Over the short amount of time attending this class we ve learned about many different leadership behaviors. One behavior that hit home to me and I find important is managementby exception active (MBE A). I m sure we ve all had that strict father or mother that was always watching us making sure we cleaned our room, did our homework, and came home on time. MBE A keeps people and processes in control, monitoring and controlling followers through forced compliance with rules, regulations, and expectations for meeting performance standards and behavioral norms (Mod 3 Full Range Leadership Development). Feminsim in Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel Essay How does the author of Like Water for Chocolate depict her feminist views and how do they contribute to two different themes of the novel? In the novel Like Water for Chocolate, Laura Esquivel exposes her strong feminist attitude through a controlling first person limited narration and a detailed, descriptive portrayal of the characters. This exploitation of feminist views supports two major themes: change in traditional attitudes towards authority and freedom of expression. In this novel, Laura Esquivel shows how Mexican women can overcome the powerful traditional authority of men and the traditional mindset of women; and how women can overcome society s suppression and express themselves freely. . These two themes have a direct... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator can manipulate certain vies on certain characters. For example, throughout the novel the reader obtains Tita s bashful point of view on Rosaura and Mama Elena s arrogance and ignorance. If the narration would be something like third person omniscient, it would be up to the reader to decide whether or not you think Tita is saying the truth, or if she s just being a selfish, immature teenager that can handle growing up. Esquivel uses the first person narrator to implore her feminist message and point of vie across to the reader Change in attitude towards authority and freedom of expression can be seen through the way the narrator creates sympathy for Tita and creates a masculine, authoritative character for Mama Elena. Tita represents the woman who can think as an individual moving on and changing dominant authoritative views on her and that can express herself freely. Mama Elena has the mannish attitude and character because she represents the woman that has already gone through years of suppression and plans to suppress her daughter just like they did to her. Tita being the last child is obliged to take care of her mother until she passes away, this silly tradition does not let her marry or have a family of her own. • 15. Impact Of Executive Orders On Society Presidential Executive Orders and The Social Impact on American Society American Presidents are constrained in the power they can wield because of the separation of powers between the branches of government. Presidents use executive orders to compensate for their limited power. Presidents have also taken unilateral action to address the needs and concerns of important political constituencies before Congress is ready to act. (Gitterman 2017) Executive orders assume three forms: 1) self executing, orders that are dependent on government agencies implementing the order, 2) Altering institutional structures and processes, and 3) Symbolic arguing tools. (Mayer 2001) Presidents also gain more control through unilateralism and collection action because the president s order is also considered a command; when this command is given to the executive branch, it conforms to the president s will. West Point Crew Team Case Study Faced with an unfamiliar problem, Coach P, of the West Point Crew team, had a JV boat that was consistently outperforming the Varsity team on different measures. Upon preliminary analysis, it appears that the problem is simple: the selection of the varsity team was flawed and many of the athletes were misjudged and subsequently misplaced. However, the coach analyzed this possible flaw through seat races and even decided to demote varsity rowers to the JV team and JV rowers to the varsity team; the unlikely outcome was that the JV boat would win by even more, meaning that the demoted rower actually made the JV boat faster. This unlikely outcome revealed a deeper flaw within the Varsity team s attitudes and motivations that sharply contrasted with those of the Junior Varsity team.... • 20. Research Paper On Brown Dwarfs The life and death of a star is both interesting and complicated. The formation of a star might not be as simple as you think. Some stars actually fail to form big enough to ever be seen. You might also believe that a star will shine forever. However, stars can also lose their energy, causing them to become other types of formations. Stars can be complex anomalies that can end up in several forms including neutron stars, brown dwarfs, and white dwarfs. Starformation is a rather simple process. Gasses in space clump together with dust and rock. Over millions of years these materials begin to form small orbs. Eventually it the clump will get big enough to create gravity. The core will become hot from the constant pressure and will use hydrogen to make helium using nuclear fusion. This fusions creates a tremendous amount of energy creating a fiery ball in space.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A brown dwarf forms when a star fails to form. This is why brown dwarfs are often referred to as failed stars . When a star is forming it has to create enough fusion to generate enough energy. Brown dwarfs do not get large enough to be able to sustain nuclear fusion. These dwarfs are called brown because even though they do not shine brightly they still have little heat in their core to give it a small glow. After a brown dwarf has formed it will star in space with its glow of millions of years. White dwarfs are an effect of small star deaths. White dwarfs form when a star runs out of hydrogen to create energy with using nuclear fusion. The star s gravity takes over due to no energy pushing back. The star then becomes extremely dense forcing atoms together. The hot ball is then left in space to cool over billions of years. Most of the time the trash is burned to make more room for more trash. Landfills have a big effect on the environment. Landfills make gas composition. Is there a way to use LFG to our benefit? How many landfills are being used for their gases in the United States? Some companies are working on using the toxic gases to our benefit. Even animals are being affected by the trash in landfills. What can people do to help reduce the trash in landfills? When trash ends up in a landfill it does not decompose like compost it just sits there because there is lack of oxygenand low amounts of moisture, so it does not break down very rapidly. Because the trash just sits there, it starts to release gases like sulfur dioxide, methane, ammonia, hydrogen, and nitrogen oxide. All of those are very toxic for the environment. The gases in a landfill can move thought soil and collect inside building or homes that are nearby. These gases can cause health problems for people that breathe them in or are nearby. Questions in the simple present can be formed in a couple of ways with questions lacking question words such as Do and Does (examples: Do you read short stories? and Does Frank play the violin?), and questions containing question words such as What, When, and Where (examples: What do you type on your laptop?, When does your brother go to school, and Where do you visit your relatives?). To form a question in the simple past, the auxiliary did and the infinitive form of the verb are needed; some examples would include Did I play baseball?, Did you play baseball?, and Did he play baseball? Question 6 (10 points) Give 3 situations in which it is appropriate to use the present perfect. The present perfect tense pertains to talking about things in which a connection exists between the past and the present. For example, She has written five songs. So she began writing songs at some point in the past. Up to now, she has written five songs. She could write additional songs. Our hero s first appearance was in a small story by Kan Shimozawa, titled Zatoichi, although the concept, as a whole, was based on a secondary character of this story, a blind gambler. The bird standing on a grave of dreams represents the person who will not try to find a brighter future, but is afraid because they don t want them to fail like the prior goals they have had. When this stanza states, ...his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream... , I feel it is saying that the person s fear of repeating the same mistakes continue to haunt them as if they are screaming within their own thoughts. They are too busy focusing on the more challenging parts of life, and overlooking what good life holds. I believe if this bird had enough faith in itself it could be the free bird it always wanted to be. I feel that my theory could also tie in with how the author, Maya Angelou, lived. Maya Angelou was a woman that many would describe as phenomenal. Her personal history was extremely inspiring. She is very wise and knew a great quantity about life. Maya Angelou once said, What is a fear of living? It s being preeminently afraid of dying. It is not doing what you came here to do, out of timidity and spinelessness. Summary OfThe Monkey s Paw, And The House Of The Scorpion The writer, Erik Pevernagie, once said, When ideas evaporate, when shapes fade and forms lose their integrity, our imagination can create an outlandish setting and convert everything into a hazy, misty Turner landscape. ( Back garden of a dream ) . Many writers often use specific words and details to help bring the reader into the story. By using these words the writer helps develop a setting, and it brings the reader into, and be able to experience it as if they were there. In the story, The Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs, and the novel , The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, the author uses descriptive adjectives to help develop the setting. To start off, the author uses descriptive adjectives in The Monkey s Paw, to develop setting in the story. This helps the reader see and feel the setting as if they were really there. In addition, the quote, Without, the night was cold and wet, but in the small Laburnum Villa the blinds were drawn and the fire burned brightly, helps to achieve a better setting. The quote helps to set the stage of the story, while also bringing a warm, and inviting kind of mood. Saying that the fire burned brightly brings a comforting feeling to the reader like they are with the character s in the story. To follow that, another example of descriptive adjectives would be, A cold wind rushed up the staircase, and a long loud wail of disappointment and misery from his wife gave him the courage to run down to her side, and then to the gate ... Some of the new clubs were named in memory of those killed during the 1916.1 William Nolan notes that the Volunteers from North Dublin, founded the Thomas Weafer GAA Club, in memory of the Wexford born member of the GPO Garrison, whose brother Patrick, a member of St Laurence O Tooles GAA club who had also fought in the same Garrison.2 It is also important to note that Erin s Isle GAA club in Finglas, was founded in January 1917 by a number of men involved in the Volunteers with direct links to those who fought in the Easter... Many historians such as David Fitzpatrick claim that the increase in the number of spectators was due to the fact that the GAA had become radicalised in the nationalist culture of Ireland during 19178 but it could also be argued that the reason for the increase was the fact that the GAA in Dublin had seventy clubs in January 1917, a number which grew to eighty eight clubs by the 1917 convention, held on 3 February 1918. This was a significant number on the amount of clubs in Kilkenny (Tipperary s opponents in 1916) which had an estimated sixteen clubs.9Therefore, Dublin had more members and significantly also the game was played at Croke Park meaning that the spectators in Dublin were not required to travel long distances to the final in 1917 whereas the spectators of the teams in the 1916 had to do ... These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists. Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of an earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the comparable damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps which would show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas. Although this was helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data. In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. An American version of the Mercalli system was incorporated in 1931. This system judged intensity of earthquakes based upon the ways California ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
