A School Administrator For A Paper I Am A Great...
One of our teachers walked into my office a few months back and asked me
I need to interview a school administrator for a paper I m writing. Could you help me? (the unspoken
other part of this opening statement clearly being that the principal was in a meeting and, with the
assignment being due that evening, I represented a lack of other options). I agreed, and as he took a
seat and I swept some stacks of classroom data and notes from between us, he started out with his first
question:
So, what does it take to be a great administrator?
Rather than immediately ply him with the standard pablum of assessment data cycles , data centered
leadership and dynamic stakeholder involvement that all leadership textbooks, far removed professors
of administration, and seemingly further removed bureaucratic departments preach as gospel, I sat
back and thought for a second before responding.
You re a teacher. What do YOU think makes a great administrator?
What followed was a rich and organic discussion made all the better because I had delegated the effort
of a response, which both allowed the teacher an opportunity to share his thoughts with me while
simultaneously couching the whole exercise within the framework of stakeholder feedback , which
would look good on my evaluation later in the year. I am brilliant.
The traits that we discussed are not unique, nor are they earth shattering, and as with any list there is
room for additions. However, I would say that these

Prospective Memory Performance
Motivation and Environmental Cues: Predictors of Prospective Memory Performance Prospective
memory (PM) is defined as the memory to perform future intentions and includes things such as
picking up a gift for a friend on the way home from work or remembering to take medication at a
certain time each day (Einstein McDaniel, 1990). In the real world these intentions are often
performed to benefit others and are considered pro social in nature (Brandimonte, Ferrante, Bianco,
Grazia Villani, 2010). Past research has identified social PM tasks as being perceived as more
important than PM tasks that benefit the self (Penningroth, Scott, Freuen, 2011). An example of a
social PM task would be remembering to keep an appointment with a study group, ... Show more

The Milky-Curtis Debate Analysis
The Shapely Curtis Debate had started because two men who had completely different views of how
the universe worked. At the time, the Milky Way the galaxy that the Earth is inside of, totally not the
candy bar was being debated in regards to how big it exactly was.
Below are listed the five key points in from the debate:
1.) The Milky Way s Size Harlow Shapely believed that everything that existed in the universe could
fit inside the Milky Way, and that there was only one galaxy. However, Herber Curtis was comfortably
fit in believing that our galaxy was smaller, and that there were more galaxies out there than just the
Milky Way. But, in the end, both of them had made one correct and one incorrect statement. Shapely
was correct in saying that it was larger, and Curtis was correct in saying that there are more than just
one galaxy. At this point in the debate, they had one correct and one incorrect statement each. ... Show

However, Shapely had accepted the fact that the reason why we couldn t see the spiral nebula a galaxy
shaped like a spiral like its name implies was because it simply wasn t in our galaxy. At the end of this
discussion, Curtis had gotten the point due to being almost entirely correct.
3.) Observations of Novae During this third main topic, both Shapely and Curtis had gotten a point.
This was because Shapely had seen the brightness of the novea, which had shown a lot of luminosity
because of its long distance, and Curtis had suggested it was because of a bigger novea.
4.) Brightness and Spectra of the Nebulae Shapely had pointed out that the brightness and colors that
were measured of a spiral nebula far away. While Curtis didn t say anything about this, he did note
that the lines he observed of spiral nebulae were mostly made out of stars. This earned both men a

Unit 2 Harvard Personal Statement
My ultimate vision is to see a Liberia where football once more becomes a national pride. It is sad to
see that power of football has been underestimated. The last time Liberia participated in a major
continental tournament was in 2002, when Liberia participated in the World Cup qualifiers and
African Cup of Nations. Just like other African countries, it is evident that Liberia has natural talents
in football but the lack of proper management and sport programs have caused the beautiful game to
lost interest in Liberia.
Liberia is the only country on the African continent that produced a FIFA World Player of the Year, in
person of Ambassador George Weah of AC Millan in 1995. Since the retirement of the George Weah
and his team, which consisted of current national team captain, James Debbah, Kelvin Sebwe, Joe
Nagbe, Oliver Markor, Prince Daye, Musa Shannon, Zizi Roberts, amongst others, the lineup for the
national team changed significantly. Talented Liberians are trying all over the world in low profile
football leagues because of the lack of contact and adequate direction. Additionally, our local league is

What Is Predictive Technology In Law Enforcement
Over the course of the last two decades, intelligence led policing has made a major impact on law
enforcement. As its usage has emerged, two sides have formed regarding the implementation of this
controversial technology. Proponents of this strategy, including law enforcement agencies and
technology companies, have backed the efficient and effective nature of predictive policing. Critics of
the technology claim that policing tactics such as predictive algorithms and hotspot monitoring have
created more problems than they have solved, and that they have placed a wall between law
enforcement and the public. As high tech crime and cyber terrorism efforts in the United States
continue to rise, questions are being raised over what public transparency ... Show more content on

In an article by Sidney Perkowitz, titled Should we trust predictive policing software to cut crime? ,
Perkowitz questions the integrity of predictive technology and its effect on crime. She mentions that
PredPol is one of the only software companies that currently reports comprehensive statistics
regarding their effect on crime. Nevertheless, while the numbers reported by the company present its
software as a success in cities like Los Angeles, the information is generated by the company itself
and is therefore unreliable. In cities like Chicago, where independent studies have been conducted, the
results were not as promising. The results showed that the software did not reduce the number of
homicides committed, nor did it lower the chances of shooting victimization. Additionally, similar
studies in Shreveport, Louisiana have concluded that the software currently being used is not having a
significant effect on the property crime rate (Perkowitz, 2016). Perkowitz is insisting that there is not
enough evidence to back the effectiveness of predictive software in reducing crime rates. In addition,
because of the cases in which predictive software did not affect crime, positive trends in cities like Los
Angeles are not representative of the rest of the

Evaluation Of A New Drug
In order for a new cancer drug to go from concept to market it must first go through the following
FDA approval process to get there. This process can take up to 12 years and cost a drug manufacturer
well over 350 million dollars.2 The steps are Preclinical research, the Investigational New Drug (IND)
application, Phase I Trials, Phase II Trials, Phase III Trials, the New Drug Application (NDA),
Approval, and Phase IV Clinical Trials.1 The FDA regulates this process to ensure that drugs are safe
and effective. Getting new drug approval is one of the most difficult processes in the world. 1

Camera Angles In The Blind Side
The Blind Side is a movie about a young black boy named Michael who grew up in a rough area with
not much to look forward to. He always had to worry about being in danger, his family doing drugs,
and even being homeless, until one day he was at a high school volleyball game picking up left over
snacks from the bleachers when an upper class white family noticed him. After the game, they saw
him walking on the sidewalk along the road outside the school and asked him where he was staying.
He was planning on going to the gym where it was warm so they offered to take him home for a warm
and dry place to sleep. He took the offer and slept on the couch, the family ended up getting him

No matter the condition around Michael he always seemed to overcome it. This theme is very useful,
not only in the movie but can be taken from the movie and could be used in others lives. The movie all
came together in the use of camera angles/shots, color, lighting, sounds/music, and narration. Without
any of these devises the movie wouldn t give off an emotional message or the same message. Camera
angles and shots were used throughout the movie to show emotion because the movie is based on a
true story. During the movie, they show flashbacks of cop cars and Michael being taken away when he
was just a young child because of the terrible things going on around him, they showed these clips so
that the audience would understand the situation that Michael was in. The film maker also decided to
put camera shots of the original family so that the audience would feel more attached. Color was used
throughout the film a lot to show positive, and gloomy places. When Michael went back to the condo
where his biological mom lived, and where all the terrible things happened, there was a lot of blacks,
greys, and browns. When Michael was back at his adoptive family s house there was a lot of bright
colors used throughout the house making the house seem like a positive place. Another place that was
very positive was on the football field which was very bright and

I Want To Pursue My Master s Degree At Robert Wood Johnson...
I recall a warm summer afternoon when I had just arrived home from college to find the house wide
open and eerily dormant. As I entered, my eyes suddenly caught hold of a bright yellow note on the
counter written by my father. Barkha, call my cell phone. My mother, who had gone to do laundry at a
Laundromat, was suddenly assaulted by a stranger wearing a mask and wielding a knife. As she
grabbed onto the knife, her hands chafed against the sharp edges. I recollect standing anxiously in a
side room of the ER when a young physician opened the door, and in a clear, deliberate, yet
empathetic manner, informed us that my mother s skin and the nerves of her hand had been torn and
damaged. A lacework of I.V. lines and an oxygen mask on her face was the last thing I could ever
imagine. I visually examined in astonishment the young physician s serenity and dedication. ... Show

Cigarettes In The Insider
The movie The Insider is a fantastic movie about the fight against the Brown Williamson tobacco
company and the 60 Minutes article that shined the light to the public that the tobacco companies were

risks are high. When referring to tobacco in this paper I am talking about cigarettes, one of the most
dangerous ways of getting tobacco due to a chemical compound called nicotine, the ingredient that
causes addiction and what got the general public hooked. There were two men in this movie that made

Themes In Barn Burning
Symbols and Themes in Barn Burning and To Build a Fire
The short stories Barn Burning by William Faulkner and To Build a Fire by Jack London are, on their
surface, two very different tales. While Barn Burning tells the story of a young boy, Sarty, trying to
grow and develop his own moral code among his twisted father whom the boy doesn t agree with, but
follows because he is his blood, To Build a Fire tells a story of a man trekking alone on Yukon Trail in
miserable, dangerous weather that he is ill prepared for. When presented this way, these stories seem
to have nothing significant in common. Regardless of their drastically different plots, characters, and
settings, they nevertheless have very similar symbols and themes, ... Show more content on

It is something that is now vital and is now being used as a tool rather than a weapon. The protagonist,
who is unnamed in the final publication, but was referred to as Vincent in earlier drafts, relies on fire
heavily and cannot use it irresponsibly, as any misuse will be detrimental to his life (London, 559).
This is interesting, as fire most often represents danger, like in Barn Burning, but in To Build a Fire ,
demands respect, as it is the only source of hope against the enemy, which is, in this case, nature.
Additionally, in both stories, there s a similar theme of running, but, again, it symbolizes two
contrasting ideas. In Barn Burning, the reader can see that the Snopes family is running away from the
law, and, later, Sarty is running away from his family, which both have contrasting meanings
themselves. When the family runs away, it is to selfishly avoid the negative consequences associated
with Snopes s actions; however, when Sarty runs away, it is to make the right choice for himself rather
than ...stick[ing] to his own blood (Faulkner, 232). Sarty decided the best choice was to abandon his
family, and is confident about this decision, never looking back. Conversely, Vincent, the protagonist
in To Build a Fire runs away less literally. While the reader is not given any indication to why exactly
he is enduring this dangerous trek other than to meet up with friends camping an unspecified distance
down the trail. However, one has to wonder what

The study of the universe as a whole is Cosmology. Although easy to label, it is not easy to explain.
The foundation of modern cosmology can be described as an arrangement of observations,

strive for answers about our beginning, present, and future.
Through time, many types of people have created stories, myths, and ideas of how we came to be.
Until the nineteenth and twentieth century, the evolution of theories was slow. According to Shipper,

One of the most recent measurements Hubble Law
 V= H o D( V is the velocity of a receding galaxy in km/sec. D is the distance away in Mpc and Ho

the Hubble constant is 67 ± 5 km/s/Mpc, measured by the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey (Slade, n.d.).
The Hubble constant is a measure of the velocity of this observed expansion; in addition, there is also
evidence at a slight acceleration that has been detected. According to Slade, As more data comes in

Milky Way is a spiral galaxy that has three components of visible matter:
(1) the disk (containing the spiral arms)
(2) the halo
(3) the nucleus
Because of the spherical distribution in relation to the center of the galaxy, the halo and the nucleus
are also referred to as the spherical component. In addition to these visible components, the galaxy
also contains at least three other components that are invisible : the galactic magnetic field, charged
particles trapped in the galactic magnetic field, and dark matter that is of unknown composition but
that makes itself felt by its gravitational influence on the visible matter. We are still unclear about dark
matter but we can detect its presence with telescopes.

Taking a Look at the Omnivore s Dilemma
What am I exactly eating? Where does our food come from? Why should I care? The Omnivore s
Dilemma may forever change the way you think about food. I enjoyed Mr. Pollan s book, The
Omnivore s Dilemma and learned a great deal of information. Pollan s book is a plea for us to stop and
think for a moment about our whole process of eating. Pollan sets out to corn fields and natural farms,
goes hunting and foraging, all in the name of coming to terms with where food really comes from in
modern America and what the ramifications are for the eaters, the eaten, the economy and the
environment. The results are far more than I expected them to be.
I had no idea we used so much fossil fuel to get corn to grow as much as it does. There is a
widespread of obesity today due to the need of agricultural excesses of corn. I hadn t thought, for
example that anyone could give me any more reasons not to eat HOT French fries at McDonalds, but
Pollan did!
The first section of this book traces a meal at McDonalds back to its basic ingredient corn. From the
corn that feeds the chickens to the xanthan gum in the milkshake to the sweetener in the ketchup and
oil in which the fries are cooked, McDonalds is mostly corn. Since Fast Food Nation and the other
exposes, I don t think there s anyone who cares who doesn t know how gross fast food is, and Pollan
admirably stays away from the yuckiest. Instead, he goes to accusing Americans who eat food of
having become like koalas, capable of absorbing

Demand for Restaurants and Determinant Factors
INTRODUCTION The paper presents an analysis of the different factors influencing the restaurant
industry and how these factors increase or decrease the demand for such services. The hypothesis that

customers when they decide to go out for dinner, lunch, breakfast, or simply for a snack. What type of
food refers mainly the nationality or concept of the food, (traditional American, Italian, Indian, Latin,

Descriptive Essay On Canoeing
We were going canoeing. I was giddy with excitement. The entire day had been filled with
exhilarating fun, and to top it all off, canoeing! I admit, being at a two day camp with my fifth grade
classmates was enjoyable. Really enjoyable. However, it also had its downs; I had gotten ready before
everyone else in my cabin (as usual), and that meant I had to sit on my bunk and wait for everyone
else, jiggling my leg impatiently. My mom s always told me that I get my impatience from my father. I
always tell her: That s preposterous! Impatience isn t a genetic trait, so technically, I didn t get it from
anyone. I smiled fondly as I remembered this while I waited on my bed. Eventually, we got to the
lake. We were the third group there; there were already a smattering of people chatting and laughing
as they lingered on the docks. Our cabin, which consisted of six girls, joined them, waiting for the
instructors to arrive. The lake was brilliant, its aquamarine water scintillating in the warm light. The
cool breeze, tickling the back of my ears, created slight ripples in the translucent water. I kneeled on
the dock, running my fingers through the clear, shallow liquid. The cold water sent a pleasant tingling
up my arm. Below the water I could see piles of smooth, glistening stones. The sound of a rushing
waterfall in the distance filled my ears. We had visited it the day before it was stunning, awe inspiring.
Engulfing the sound of it were so many others... laughter, birdsongs,

How 3m Company Will Institute An Analytics Strategy
There is an increase in the reliance of analytical models in various business environments by modern
companies, which seek to make more accurate decisions. In essence, this requires business firms to
develop their competence in this area to enable them to manage their customer relationships and
supply chains more effectively. More importantly, knowledge of analytics allows companies to
identify factors that influence their business processes to ensure they have better control of different
activities they perform. Thus, efficient analytics strategies allow companies to optimize their activities

The Near Crash Of The Qantas A380
QF32 THE NEAR CRASH OF THE QANTAS A380 OVER SINGAPORE
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Airbus A380, one of the largest passenger aircraft in the world, made its debut commercial flight
with Singapore Airlines flying from Singapore to Sydney in October 2007. Qantas Flight 32 was the
scheduled passenger flight of the A380 fleet which suffered an uncontained engine rotor failure on
November 4, 2010 and made an emergency landing at Changi Airport.
The UERF was caused by the crack present in the oil feed pipe which developed over a period of time
due to fatigue. The crack grew to a size which allowed the oil in the pipe to be released in the HP/IP
buffer space, during the occurrence flight. There was severe damage caused to the flight. However, the
robust design and structural strength of the jet sustained the damage which might have destroyed the
airlines of the past decade.
The crew members of Qantas displayed excellent skills in managing the incident and the high
standards of piloting culture saved QF32 from a catastrophic crash which enabled Qantas to keep up
the brand name and protect its values of safety of customers . The management decided to ground the
fleet of A380s for further inspection after the incident.
The ATSB carried out a detailed investigation along with Rolls Royce and several other global
agencies. Numerous lapses were identified including the factors which resulted in the manufacture and
release into service of non conforming oil feed pipes and appropriate

Bedbug Experiment
Bedbug Treatment Cost
What are Bedbugs?
There are different insects that can invade your home, but the bedbug can easily pass as the most
frustrating. This insect lives off the blood of people and animals, typically feeding while its host
sleeps. Adult bedbugs have a light brown or reddish brown color, and their tiny size makes them very
difficult to discover. A peculiar thing about this insect is the fact that just one bug may invade a home
and within a short period of time begin to reproduce, after which the invasion will expand fast. They
can survive if they don t feed for several months and this can make bedbugs difficult to wipe out once
they invade your home.
The life cycle of bedbugs starts with tiny eggs which later hatch to produce small nymphs, ... Show

Trying to get rid of bedbugs on your own may have limited effect, the most efficient step to take
however is to get in touch with a licensed professional to perform bedbug extermination.
Bedbug removal is a convoluted and time taking process, it can also be costly. Choosing an expert to
carry out the extermination, therefore, should be a careful process; make sure you choose and deal
with licensed and experienced companies, ensure that it is a company that provides follow up service.
The very first step in the whole process is an Inspection to confirm the existence of bedbugs and to
find out the severity of the problem. The second step would be preparation for the extermination;
eradicating bedbugs completely is a complex process, therefore, it may involve moving and
rearrangement of furniture, boxing up things etc. The last step is the treatment proper, which will be
carried out using a method chosen from one of the different approach suggested by the exterminator.
The most popular methods used include; spraying pesticides, fumigating and heat

Skyhawk eight four two lima papa, Executive Tower, you are cleared for takeoff runway two eight left

seconds everything can go wrong, or go right. When I was younger, my eyes have gazed skyward,
peering at the iridescent beauty of large birds soaring over the sky with their signature white trails and
the sound of their mighty roar. Never to this day have I regretted what was possibly the greatest
challenge of my life, becoming an aviator. From day one of flight training, I have probably been the
worst pilot that ever existed because I constantly failed my flight maneuvers and my landings were no
less than disasters waiting to happen. Fortunately, my instructor always reminded me with his famous
phrase; experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards. Thus, after
all the mistakes I have committed in my aviation career, I have always persevered and never backed
down from a challenge. The one thing that all pilots learn to respect, love, and fear for are when
situations go to hell because within those few seconds, any decision made will determine the outcome

The Wolf In Quentin Tarantino s Pulp Fiction
Just because you are a character doesn t mean that you have character. This was said by The Wolf in
Quentin Tarantino s movie Pulp Fiction. Tarantino opens our minds to a word with no ordinary days
and especially no ordinary people. And that s just what this movie isn t, ordinary. There are so many
twist and turns, with storylines out of order and violence mixed in with everyday conversations. It s a
movie that can get you confused and grossed out but also excited and thrilled. It s so casually not
casual and as a viewer I have such mixed feelings on it. Pulp Fiction tells you not only one story but
multiple on life through the eyes of mobsters and criminals. I stand by its slot on AFI s top 100 list due

Tarantino develops an array of crooks and gangsters who work in a business of money and drugs. He
makes them indulge in little conversations to express their perspectives on life and what exactly goes
through the minds of these so called ¨bad¨ men. Hitmen Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega (played by
Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta) do some pretty terrible things but still manage to have
conversations that normal people have on a daily basis. For example they were driving to kill a bunch
of boys for screwing over their boss and on the way there all the talked about was what European
countries call their hamburgers at McDonalds. I found this very comical because they are literally
driving to an apartment to hunt down these men and that is what is on there mind. Even right before
they walk in they talk about the deeper meaning behind giving a foot massage. They are so nonchalant
about everything they do and I almost admire that. Of course what they are doing is wrong but the
way they make light of the situation infers the fact of their perspective on life. People don t need to be
serious and stern all the time and Vincent and Jules prove that. That s how the movie kept me
entertained because I could relate to the characters. There weren t just hit men with no interior but
men who could be normal. I also really enjoyed the character Mia Wallace (played by Uma Thurman).
Although she was addicted to drugs she gave the audience an inside to her mind and what she thought
of. Like in the movie she talked about how if two people were so comfortable with one another then
they can sit in silence and it wouldn t be weird. She quotes ¨That s when you know you ve found
somebody really special, when you can just shut the f*** up for a minute and comfortably share a
silence.¨ I find that to be very true. If you truly are comfortable then not talking should just be normal.
Pulp Fiction does a great job composing

The Abandoned Colony by Karen Ordahl Kupperman
Thesis: The Roanoke colony proved to be an unsuccessful venture in the New World for England,
since leaders of the expedition held the viewpoint that privateering would prove to be the most
profitable aspect of founding the new settlements in the West. However future, still unsuccessful
attempts to make a permanent colony at Roanoke, helped England understand how to build a
prosperous one; and it became a building block for establishing future colonies for England and
helped shape the ideas that would help launch their empire.
Summary: This book starts well before Roanoke was founded. It detailed how, at the time, England

They had a strange relationship, since many of the colonists respected the Indian s way of life and
were amazed by how they lived. Many attributed their strength to the tobacco that they consumed.
Others saw them as savages and wanted to convert them to the European way of life. The colonists
ended up waging war with them and killed some Croatoans. White went back to England to request
supplies, and when he came back, the colony was abandoned, with evidence that they joined the
Croatoans. CRO was written on a tree, a sign that the colonists left to tell him where they had gone.
However, they were to carve a cross over the name if they were forced to vacate, but there was no
such mark. An entrance post also had the word Croatoan carved into it, also without any crosses. Big
items like weapons were left behind, but all smaller supplies were gone. The book uses Professor
David Quinn s theory to explain what happened. The bulk of the colony moved to the Chesapeake Bay
and lived in peace while the rest stayed behind to guard the heavier equipment. However, the Spanish
threat and Indian hostility forced them to leave. They were the ones who left the notes. Rumors
continued to spin when Indians told stories to the people of Jamestown in the Chesapeake Bay about
whites living with the Indians. Unfortunately, White, Ralegh, and everyone else searching for the

Introduction
Early marriage affects millions of children through the world. It is widely practiced in the countries of
South Asia where every year millions of girls preteens and teens become the wives of older men.
Young girls are married when they are still children and as a result are denied fundamental human
rights. Early marriage compromises their development and often results in early pregnancy and social

One problem in assessing the prevalence of early marriages is that many are unregistered and
unofficial and hence, are not a part of any data collection system. Very little data exists on marriages
of children under the age of 10, even less on those below that age[6].

Duality In Plato s The Republic
In Plato s The Republic, Socrates reasons that poets are detrimental to society because they portray
false and abstract images that feed the bad and impious parts of the human soul, corrupting people by
allowing them to indulge in inappropriate and cowardly behavior. However, Socrates s views seem to
be based solely around reason and an objective, quantifiable truth. He wants people to be so pious and
under control that they do not even experience impulses towards impiety, however the elimination of
the choice between right and wrong also eliminates any value in the choosing right. Duality is an
integral part of human experience and it can perhaps teach us more than a simple existence of piety.
Socrates postulates that poetry and other imitative

Women And Witchcraft In The 1600 s
Women were the primary targets of witch hunts, a craze that gripped medieval Europe between the
1600 s to the 1700 s. Women s bodies and sexuality were repressed due to it s dangerous threat to the
medieval society. Women s bodies were tortured and mutilated to prove the authenticity of witchcraft.
The evolution of the witch throughout the 1600 s to the 1800 s, changed the perceptions of elderly
women and witchcraft into the modern times.
The fall of Eve in the Garden of Eden condemned women and their bodies. Women s bodies were
created for sin and were easily seduced by temptation. Women s bodies were weak and inferior to men
s bodies, for this reason they were viewed to have wanton and ravenous sexual appetites. Roper makes
this point by discussing Kramer s condemnation of women, All witchcraft comes from carnal lust,
which is in women insatiable (Roper 136). The feebleness of their bodies and will caused them to
make unwise decisions. One possible explanation for the divided depiction of women could be the
Madonna Whore dichotomy. Women were seen as either virginal Madonnas or evil whores. The ...

Lean Manufacturing Is An Approach
Introduction Lean Manufacturing is an approach taken by manufacturing organization to increase
efficiency through optimization and maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Traditionally,
Lean principles were applied to manufacturing industries especially automotive companies. However,
with the success in automotive industry, it no longer limited to automotive sector and can be applied in
other manufacturing sectors as well as services industries (Balle, et al., 2006). The drivers for
implementing Lean in both manufacturing and service sectors are customer demands for better quality
products and services, managerial demands for cost reduction and sustaining in an increasing market
competitiveness. Lean implementation and various success stories has led companies worldwide to
introduce lean in their operations and services but majority of these companies achieved only modest
levels of success (Womack Jones, 2003). It is reported that many organizations are not able to
transform themselves to lean organization and thus at some point of time, lean implementation is
destined to fail (Farris, et al., 2009). Some of the main factors for lean failures are poor
communication, lack of strong leadership, lack of learning, staff resistance to change, and lack of clear
direction (Emiliani Stec, 2005). Researchers have argued that transition to lean environment and
sustaining lean improvements requires cultural change in the organization rather than changing the

The Violence Of Gustavo Diaz Ordaz
Gustavo Diaz Ordaz became president of the United States of Mexico in 1964, years before the
massacre, that took place in October 2, 1968 at la plaza de las Tres Culturas in Mexico city, better
known as Tlatelolco Massacre ( Mexico s 1968 Massacre ). It was supposed to be an unarmed
peacefull protest, but at sunset the police and military forces equipped with armored cars and tanks
surrounded the plaza and began firing into the open crowd. The police fire hit not only the protestors
but also innocent bystanders.
It all started when the students decided to organize and protest against the violence exerted by the riot
police. During the previous months, Mexico City witnessed a series of student protests and rallies
against repression and violence. ( Mexico s 1968 Massacre ) for example on August 13, a large
demonstration of around 150,000 participants gathered to protest, a protest that ended outside of the
palace of governor. On 13 September the march of silence took place, this was a protest of more than
250,000 people, where they all remained silent to prevent the police put the pretext of provocation by
students ( Movimiento estudiantil de 1968 ).
This was also lead by student movements that were breaking out all over the world including: France,
Germany, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Argentina, Japan and the United States.

Mexico was the former president Diaz Ordaz. Diaz

Rural Food Security And Nutrition
The potential of crossbreeding indigenous chickens to improve rural food security and nutrition in
southern Africa a review
Abstract
The need to increase poultry production in southern Africa to meet the increasing protein requirement
of the growing population is becoming a great concern. The quality of poultry meat and eggs produced
in terms of taste, texture, flavour and leanness are of importance to consumers. Crossbreeding
indigenous with exotic strains of chickens is one of the main factors that can improve food and
nutrition security in southern Africa. In this paper, ways in which the quality and quantity of poultry
meat and eggs can be improved for sustainable food and nutrition security in southern Africa, with
emphasis on crossbreeding as a prospective food security (protein) stability technique are discussed.
This paper is based on critical analysis of the literature and discusses and evaluates various
crossbreeding methods of chickens that have been carried out in African countries. Comparative
studies on the implementation, failures and successes of crossbreeding of chickens in African
countries, such as Egypt, Botswana, Malawi and South Africa among others are reviewed.
Crossbreeding, combined with selection, information dissemination, improved management and
technology, is recommended for the geometric increase in poultry meat and egg production in
southern Africa to improve food and nutrition security.

During the Middle Ages, Europe was going through a tough time it was characterized by a breakup of

Proletariat vs. Bourgeoisie in Karl Marx s The Communist Manifesto
In The Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels attempt to explain the reasons for why
there is class struggle and suggest how to prevent class separation. According to Marx there are two
different types of social classes: the bourgeoisies and the proletarians. The bourgeoisie are capitalists
who own the means of production and the proletarians are the working classes who are employed by
the bourgeoisies. Due to their wealth, the bourgeoisies had the power to control pretty much of
everything and the proletarians had little or no say in any political issues. According to Marx, the

The bourgeoisies made sure that the only way of survival for the working class was through them.
Marx even believed that the churches were oppressing the proletarians because the bourgeoisies were
controlling the churches. Therefore, Marx thought that religion should be abolished. Another thing
that Marx believed had no existence was the government because the bourgeoisie held all political
power.3
The proletarians and the bourgeoisies had very different ways in which they lived during the industrial
age. The proletarians lived inside the city where pollution was very bad and overcrowded by a large
majority of population, where as the bourgeoisies lived outside the city limits and controlled much of
the land. Once the Industrial Revolution came the life in the cities where the proletarians lived became
very drastic. Disease in the city became very bad and could destroy a large percentage of the
population by causing death. The working class suffered from various types of diseases such as lung
disease and many poisonings. The working class would not nearly live as long as the bourgeoisies
because they would not be able to receive the medical care that they needed.4 Also crime in the cities
became very high because criminals could get away very easily. Eventually law enforcement would be
created to slow down the high rates of crime. Another thing

Comedy Of Manners Analysis
The comedy of manners is a genre of comedy that became established on the English stage during the
Restoration period. It can be said that the English comedy of manners started with George Etherege,
second would be William Congreve (Palmer 2). Their plays focused on the behavior of people in a
society and the feigned values that they cared about ( Comedy of Manners 1). These men constructed
realism in their plays keeping their writings authentic and unique while also putting the comedy on
stage as close to reality as possible, to show general life of time, its movements, its amusements, its
general conceptions, were mirrored upon stage (Dobree 26 29). They used their observations from
their own life to represent the setting, events, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The various types could be the fool, the deceiver, the hypocrite, the jealous wife, the interfering
parents etc.
Comedy of Manners has became well known and grown widespread over many periods in theatre
history. Most theatrical genres begins in a certain era but spans upon many periods only if the works
of later playwrights successfully tries to restore them which didn t happen a lot. English theatres were
closed down between 1642 and 1660 when Oliver Cromwell and the Puritans conquered England and
there was no aristocracy. In 1660 King Charles II took the throne and one of his first actions was to
grant several key theatrical figures licenses to produce plays and breathe life into the theatre once
more.
Most of the writers wrote about things that they were passionate about or things that were popular
during the time. To provide some examples, George Etherege has been called the actual founder of
English comedy of manners (Palmer 31). Etherege described himself as being lazy and too careless to
be ambitious, so he decided to write plays for his own enjoyment and for entertainment (Dobree 60).
Etherege wrote Sir Fopling Flutter (1676), which is about a young aristocrat that takes place in
London during the Restoration period who tries to win the affection

The Art Of Landscaping
The Art of Landscaping by Best Landscapers in Lexington KY
Manipulating the backdrop, setting up lush greenery and creating an attractive panorama are no
cakewalk. Landscaping is truly an art that camouflages the dull and boring atmosphere. The green is
pleasing to the eyes and so is the blooming flora. Different people have different preferences when it
comes to landscaping. Some prefer pocket friendly procedures, while others are adherent to spend
hefty to make their property look exquisite. There are different templates available that contain all the
possible structures a landscaper could construct.
The major steps that are central to landscaping involved in the process are:
1. Planning,
2. Accessing the land (climate, weather, soil),
3. Plotting,

Bio Urns Research Paper
Bio Burial Options Death, it is never easy, especially when it comes to decide how a loved one should
be preserved for the afterlife. With bio urns and burial pods, along with other eco friendly burial ways,
you can preserve their memory in a whole new way. Burying someone in this form is to not only to
bring beauty from one life to the next, it is a way of helping the environment, saving money, and in a
sense, having that person s life source still living in the form of a comely tree or plant. Bio urns and
burial pods are very similar, yet different in a few ways, but both outcomes have the same result. Bio
urns are biodegradable urns with two inner layers that contain the ashes of a loved one, an expansion
disc, soil mixture, and the seed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to farmers insurance, the average funeral costs up to 7,000 dollars going with the
traditional coffin and burial. Cremation was figured to be about half the price of a traditional funeral,
with urns ranging from $25 to $250 and above. When going with the bio urn process, this would cost
about the same as the cremation process would, rounding up to about $2,500 including the cremation
process and could be more cheap depending on the tree chosen which range to about $105, and even
though the price may still be somewhat high, this provides for a greener, cleaner earth. Amanda
Froelich. Other burial options like the natural burial is where the body isn t embalmed and is given a
biodegradable coffin to where they can be given back to the earth, this shares the same concept as the
burial mushroom suits. Things like, the eternal reefs, or the rocket launch are more expensive
alternatives. When losing a loved one, or planning our own way of preservation for the afterlife, it is
important for one to choose something that can always serve as a memoir for when we ve passed.
With going green, and using bio burial options like the bio urn or burial pods, it is a way to bring
beauty from one life to the next, or serve as a way of helping the environment, even saving money,
and lastly, having that person s

attitudes and beliefs so that they can appreciate and respect each other s views situations and opinions.
Learner assessments can be done to identify disability. I should be non judgemental. I could use hand
outs which are representative of wider society. Page 3 Before I organise trips, rewards, and incentives
I will need to consider everybody s individual needs and plan things that everybody can be included in
as this will promote equality too. A good example of this is (Gravells A, 2008). A group of leaners
wish to go out for dinner. One is vegetarian, another is dairy intolerant and a third does not eat fish.
They all want to eat at the same restaurant and choose from the same menu and be treated equally,
enabling them to choose a different option from the menu. The diverse requirements of the group are
therefore being taken into account to differentiate for their needs. Other useful organisations that deal
with the issues of equality and diversity are, The Disability Rights Commission, DRC. Equal

Top 1 Cause for Project Failure
Anish Mathai Mathew [PMP|MBA]
Temenos T24 PROGRAM MANAGER at Union National Bank
Featured discussion
In your experience, what is the TOP #1 cause for Project failure?
From experience, the following are the TOP10 causes of Project failure that Mathew can think of
(they are not in any kind of order):
#1. Lacking Sponsor s Involvement/Ownership
#2. Halo Effect (Wrong Man for the Job)
#3. Poor HR Management
#4. Poor/Inadequate Project Communications
#5. Ignoring Project Stakeholders
#6. Absence of Risk Management
#7. Scope Creep/Unrealistic Expectations ( scope creep: Frequent and uncontrolled changes in the
scope or requirements of a project)
#8. Lack of Monitoring of Plan
#9. Absence of a Project Management Methodology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For me this question shows the real reason for faillure. Most projects focus on producing a rocket
(only focus on delivery). Successful projects however look further: why do we create a rocket?
Because we want to go to the moon. If NASA would have only focussed on delivering rockets, they
would never have reached the moon and probably had produced a great number of disasters while
delivering or using those rockets. A Business Case focus, rather than only a delivery focus!
(By the way off topic: this delivery approach for me also caused the current financial crisis. Only
focussing on the deal, not on the long term effects.)
All reasons summed up in the question above are in my view symptoms and results of the delivery
only approach rather than reasons.

I would say #7. Scope Creep/Unrealistic Expectations. All the others reasons are certainly strong
source for failure but somehow most of them point to have a bad road map document.
This is why a Project Manager is so useful in any organization to make sure that we get the right
project management plan, which include a concise and accurate project scope statement and realistic
project expectations.

My Life Of My Father
I was only nine when I had found out that my father had another family; he had a wife and a son. My
father had been living with them and would visit me at least once every two months or so, but as soon
as I had turned nine, my father introduced my to my half brother, who was a year and a third older
than me. When they visited me, their visits were always brief; time seemed to fly by while I played
games with my brother, Ken, but I later learned that it was my father s wife who did not allow him or
Ken to visit me and she had not known they were visiting me due to the fact that they would lie. A few
years had passed and she had finally accepted the results that I am alive and I was finally able to visit
my father s house and meet her. I had actually gone to my father s house before while his wife was
away on a cruise. My mother had told me heaps of stories about her past that involved my father s
wife, Sue, and they all seemed atrocious.
She knew we were married my mother uttered, but, she still told me that, She always gets what she
wants.
I couldn t believe that someone could even consider doing all those awful things, but nevertheless, I
was about to meet this mysterious Sue that I had heard so much about. It was the summer of 2011
when I was invited to my father s house to meet Sue. After hearing all sorts of stories about her, I was
quite afraid and anxious.
Private thoughts: I do wish to go to my father s house, so I would be able to hang out

Analysis Of The Essay Disability By Nancy Mairs
In the essay Disability, the author Nancy Mairs argues that the media portrays disabled people in an
unjust manner. Mairs supports her claim by first appealing to the reader s emotions, second by proving
her credibility as a disabled person, and lastly by appealing to the reader s sense of logic. Mair s
purpose is to prove that disabled people are just as normal as anyone else in order to persuade
advertisers to represent the disabled on television, newspapers, commercials, advertisements, etc.
Based on Mair s informal tone and diction, she is writing for the common, intellectual audience who
has the ability to make a difference in changing the views of the media and non disabled people
towards the disabled.
Nancy Mairs introduces her essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By cataloging normal things she does on an everyday basis, she relates to her audience by stating, I
menstruate, so I have to buy tampons. I worry about smoker s breath, so I buy mouthwash. I smear my
wrinkling skin with lotions. I put bleach in the washer so my family s undies won t be dingy. I drive a
car, talk on the telephone, get runs in my pantyhose, eat pizza... Mairs wants the reader to understand
she has a disability, but she is still able to live a life that is parallel to the people without her debility.
In a similar way, Mairs uses repetition to emphasize the shift is about herself and that her credibility is
strong. Her persuasive tone stands out within this paragraph, as well, due to her wanting the reader to
distinguish how she can relate to them as she deals with everyday life, considering her audience is not
disabled. She demonstrates her persuasive tone by asserting, Take it from me, physical disability
looms pretty large in one s life. But it doesn t devour one wholly. I m not, for instance, Ms. MS, a
walking, talking embodiment of a chronic incurable degenerative disease. Along with her catalog,
Mairs uses empirical knowledge, within the paragraph and quote, to explain her first hand account of
being normal whilst being

Women In War
Rather than being armed with guns, firepower and brute strength, women and girls were armed with
patriotism, conscientiousness, and vigilance.
Women working More than one million women worked in several different areas to help fuel the
economy as part of the workforce, replacing the men who had left for war. Areas include= farming,
munitions (weapons manufacturing became the biggest employer of women) railway guards and ticket
collectors, buses and tram conductors, textiles, elevator operator, chauffeurs, railroad trackwalkers,

Canada s fragile economy at the time was feared to crash during the first sight of war, but the women
who went to accept the multiplying job openings in factories saved the economy. As a result, more
munitions were being produced, providing economic stimulus. Wartime labor saw an increase, from
only a few companies that produced munitions to several, in total producing goods worth 2 million per
day. By 1917, Canada produced almost one third of Britain s shells, many of which were Canadian
women. The Imperial Munitions Board s 600 factories oversaw 103 naval vessels, 2,600 training
aircraft, and 30 flying

  • 2. A School Administrator For A Paper I Am A Great... One of our teachers walked into my office a few months back and asked me I need to interview a school administrator for a paper I m writing. Could you help me? (the unspoken other part of this opening statement clearly being that the principal was in a meeting and, with the assignment being due that evening, I represented a lack of other options). I agreed, and as he took a seat and I swept some stacks of classroom data and notes from between us, he started out with his first question: So, what does it take to be a great administrator? Rather than immediately ply him with the standard pablum of assessment data cycles , data centered leadership and dynamic stakeholder involvement that all leadership textbooks, far removed professors of administration, and seemingly further removed bureaucratic departments preach as gospel, I sat back and thought for a second before responding. You re a teacher. What do YOU think makes a great administrator? What followed was a rich and organic discussion made all the better because I had delegated the effort of a response, which both allowed the teacher an opportunity to share his thoughts with me while simultaneously couching the whole exercise within the framework of stakeholder feedback , which would look good on my evaluation later in the year. I am brilliant. The traits that we discussed are not unique, nor are they earth shattering, and as with any list there is room for additions. However, I would say that these ... • 3. Prospective Memory Performance Motivation and Environmental Cues: Predictors of Prospective Memory Performance Prospective memory (PM) is defined as the memory to perform future intentions and includes things such as picking up a gift for a friend on the way home from work or remembering to take medication at a certain time each day (Einstein McDaniel, 1990). In the real world these intentions are often performed to benefit others and are considered pro social in nature (Brandimonte, Ferrante, Bianco, Grazia Villani, 2010). Past research has identified social PM tasks as being perceived as more important than PM tasks that benefit the self (Penningroth, Scott, Freuen, 2011). At the time, the Milky Way the galaxy that the Earth is inside of, totally not the candy bar was being debated in regards to how big it exactly was. Below are listed the five key points in from the debate: 1.) The Milky Way s Size Harlow Shapely believed that everything that existed in the universe could fit inside the Milky Way, and that there was only one galaxy. However, Herber Curtis was comfortably fit in believing that our galaxy was smaller, and that there were more galaxies out there than just the Milky Way. But, in the end, both of them had made one correct and one incorrect statement. This was because Shapely had seen the brightness of the novea, which had shown a lot of luminosity because of its long distance, and Curtis had suggested it was because of a bigger novea. 4.) Brightness and Spectra of the Nebulae Shapely had pointed out that the brightness and colors that were measured of a spiral nebula far away. • 6. Unit 2 Harvard Personal Statement My ultimate vision is to see a Liberia where football once more becomes a national pride. It is sad to see that power of football has been underestimated. The last time Liberia participated in a major continental tournament was in 2002, when Liberia participated in the World Cup qualifiers and African Cup of Nations. Just like other African countries, it is evident that Liberia has natural talents in football but the lack of proper management and sport programs have caused the beautiful game to lost interest in Liberia. Liberia is the only country on the African continent that produced a FIFA World Player of the Year, in person of Ambassador George Weah of AC Millan in 1995. Since the retirement of the George Weah and his team, which consisted of current national team captain, James Debbah, Kelvin Sebwe, Joe Nagbe, Oliver Markor, Prince Daye, Musa Shannon, Zizi Roberts, amongst others, the lineup for the national team changed significantly. • 7. What Is Predictive Technology In Law Enforcement Over the course of the last two decades, intelligence led policing has made a major impact on law enforcement. As its usage has emerged, two sides have formed regarding the implementation of this controversial technology. Proponents of this strategy, including law enforcement agencies and technology companies, have backed the efficient and effective nature of predictive policing. Critics of the technology claim that policing tactics such as predictive algorithms and hotspot monitoring have created more problems than they have solved, and that they have placed a wall between law enforcement and the public. In an article by Sidney Perkowitz, titled Should we trust predictive policing software to cut crime? , Perkowitz questions the integrity of predictive technology and its effect on crime. She mentions that PredPol is one of the only software companies that currently reports comprehensive statistics regarding their effect on crime. Nevertheless, while the numbers reported by the company present its software as a success in cities like Los Angeles, the information is generated by the company itself and is therefore unreliable. In cities like Chicago, where independent studies have been conducted, the results were not as promising. The results showed that the software did not reduce the number of homicides committed, nor did it lower the chances of shooting victimization. Additionally, similar studies in Shreveport, Louisiana have concluded that the software currently being used is not having a significant effect on the property crime rate (Perkowitz, 2016). Perkowitz is insisting that there is not enough evidence to back the effectiveness of predictive software in reducing crime rates. In addition, because of the cases in which predictive software did not affect crime, positive trends in cities like Los Angeles are not representative of the rest of the ... As I entered, my eyes suddenly caught hold of a bright yellow note on the counter written by my father. Barkha, call my cell phone. My mother, who had gone to do laundry at a Laundromat, was suddenly assaulted by a stranger wearing a mask and wielding a knife. As she grabbed onto the knife, her hands chafed against the sharp edges. I recollect standing anxiously in a side room of the ER when a young physician opened the door, and in a clear, deliberate, yet empathetic manner, informed us that my mother s skin and the nerves of her hand had been torn and damaged. • 13. Themes In Barn Burning Symbols and Themes in Barn Burning and To Build a Fire The short stories Barn Burning by William Faulkner and To Build a Fire by Jack London are, on their surface, two very different tales. While Barn Burning tells the story of a young boy, Sarty, trying to grow and develop his own moral code among his twisted father whom the boy doesn t agree with, but follows because he is his blood, To Build a Fire tells a story of a man trekking alone on Yukon Trail in miserable, dangerous weather that he is ill prepared for. It is something that is now vital and is now being used as a tool rather than a weapon. The protagonist, who is unnamed in the final publication, but was referred to as Vincent in earlier drafts, relies on fire heavily and cannot use it irresponsibly, as any misuse will be detrimental to his life (London, 559). This is interesting, as fire most often represents danger, like in Barn Burning, but in To Build a Fire , demands respect, as it is the only source of hope against the enemy, which is, in this case, nature. Additionally, in both stories, there s a similar theme of running, but, again, it symbolizes two contrasting ideas. In Barn Burning, the reader can see that the Snopes family is running away from the law, and, later, Sarty is running away from his family, which both have contrasting meanings themselves. When the family runs away, it is to selfishly avoid the negative consequences associated with Snopes s actions; however, when Sarty runs away, it is to make the right choice for himself rather than ...stick[ing] to his own blood (Faulkner, 232). Sarty decided the best choice was to abandon his family, and is confident about this decision, never looking back. Conversely, Vincent, the protagonist in To Build a Fire runs away less literally. • 17. Taking a Look at the Omnivore s Dilemma What am I exactly eating? Where does our food come from? Why should I care? The Omnivore s Dilemma may forever change the way you think about food. I enjoyed Mr. Pollan s book, The Omnivore s Dilemma and learned a great deal of information. Pollan s book is a plea for us to stop and think for a moment about our whole process of eating. Pollan sets out to corn fields and natural farms, goes hunting and foraging, all in the name of coming to terms with where food really comes from in modern America and what the ramifications are for the eaters, the eaten, the economy and the environment. The results are far more than I expected them to be. I had no idea we used so much fossil fuel to get corn to grow as much as it does. There is a widespread of obesity today due to the need of agricultural excesses of corn. I hadn t thought, for example that anyone could give me any more reasons not to eat HOT French fries at McDonalds, but Pollan did! The first section of this book traces a meal at McDonalds back to its basic ingredient corn. From the corn that feeds the chickens to the xanthan gum in the milkshake to the sweetener in the ketchup and oil in which the fries are cooked, McDonalds is mostly corn. Since Fast Food Nation and the other exposes, I don t think there s anyone who cares who doesn t know how gross fast food is, and Pollan admirably stays away from the yuckiest. Instead, he goes to accusing Americans who eat food of having become like koalas, capable of absorbing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I admit, being at a two day camp with my fifth grade classmates was enjoyable. Really enjoyable. However, it also had its downs; I had gotten ready before everyone else in my cabin (as usual), and that meant I had to sit on my bunk and wait for everyone else, jiggling my leg impatiently. My mom s always told me that I get my impatience from my father. I always tell her: That s preposterous! Impatience isn t a genetic trait, so technically, I didn t get it from anyone. I smiled fondly as I remembered this while I waited on my bed. Eventually, we got to the lake. We were the third group there; there were already a smattering of people chatting and laughing as they lingered on the docks. Our cabin, which consisted of six girls, joined them, waiting for the instructors to arrive. The lake was brilliant, its aquamarine water scintillating in the warm light. The cool breeze, tickling the back of my ears, created slight ripples in the translucent water. I kneeled on the dock, running my fingers through the clear, shallow liquid. The cold water sent a pleasant tingling up my arm. Below the water I could see piles of smooth, glistening stones. The sound of a rushing waterfall in the distance filled my ears. Qantas Flight 32 was the scheduled passenger flight of the A380 fleet which suffered an uncontained engine rotor failure on November 4, 2010 and made an emergency landing at Changi Airport. The UERF was caused by the crack present in the oil feed pipe which developed over a period of time due to fatigue. The crack grew to a size which allowed the oil in the pipe to be released in the HP/IP buffer space, during the occurrence flight. There was severe damage caused to the flight. However, the robust design and structural strength of the jet sustained the damage which might have destroyed the airlines of the past decade. The crew members of Qantas displayed excellent skills in managing the incident and the high standards of piloting culture saved QF32 from a catastrophic crash which enabled Qantas to keep up the brand name and protect its values of safety of customers . The management decided to ground the fleet of A380s for further inspection after the incident. The ATSB carried out a detailed investigation along with Rolls Royce and several other global agencies. When I was younger, my eyes have gazed skyward, peering at the iridescent beauty of large birds soaring over the sky with their signature white trails and the sound of their mighty roar. Never to this day have I regretted what was possibly the greatest challenge of my life, becoming an aviator. From day one of flight training, I have probably been the worst pilot that ever existed because I constantly failed my flight maneuvers and my landings were no less than disasters waiting to happen. Fortunately, my instructor always reminded me with his famous phrase; experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards. Thus, after all the mistakes I have committed in my aviation career, I have always persevered and never backed down from a challenge. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tarantino develops an array of crooks and gangsters who work in a business of money and drugs. He makes them indulge in little conversations to express their perspectives on life and what exactly goes through the minds of these so called ¨bad¨ men. Hitmen Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega (played by Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta) do some pretty terrible things but still manage to have conversations that normal people have on a daily basis. For example they were driving to kill a bunch of boys for screwing over their boss and on the way there all the talked about was what European countries call their hamburgers at McDonalds. I found this very comical because they are literally driving to an apartment to hunt down these men and that is what is on there mind. Even right before they walk in they talk about the deeper meaning behind giving a foot massage. They are so nonchalant about everything they do and I almost admire that. Of course what they are doing is wrong but the way they make light of the situation infers the fact of their perspective on life. People don t need to be serious and stern all the time and Vincent and Jules prove that. That s how the movie kept me entertained because I could relate to the characters. There weren t just hit men with no interior but men who could be normal. I also really enjoyed the character Mia Wallace (played by Uma Thurman). Although she was addicted to drugs she gave the audience an inside to her mind and what she thought of. She quotes ¨That s when you know you ve found somebody really special, when you can just shut the f*** up for a minute and comfortably share a silence.¨ I find that to be very true. White went back to England to request supplies, and when he came back, the colony was abandoned, with evidence that they joined the Croatoans. Women s bodies and sexuality were repressed due to it s dangerous threat to the medieval society. Women s bodies were tortured and mutilated to prove the authenticity of witchcraft. The evolution of the witch throughout the 1600 s to the 1800 s, changed the perceptions of elderly women and witchcraft into the modern times. The fall of Eve in the Garden of Eden condemned women and their bodies. Women s bodies were created for sin and were easily seduced by temptation. Women s bodies were weak and inferior to men s bodies, for this reason they were viewed to have wanton and ravenous sexual appetites. Roper makes this point by discussing Kramer s condemnation of women, All witchcraft comes from carnal lust, which is in women insatiable (Roper 136). Lean Manufacturing Is An Approach Introduction Lean Manufacturing is an approach taken by manufacturing organization to increase efficiency through optimization and maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Traditionally, Lean principles were applied to manufacturing industries especially automotive companies. However, with the success in automotive industry, it no longer limited to automotive sector and can be applied in other manufacturing sectors as well as services industries (Balle, et al., 2006). The drivers for implementing Lean in both manufacturing and service sectors are customer demands for better quality products and services, managerial demands for cost reduction and sustaining in an increasing market competitiveness. Lean implementation and various success stories has led companies worldwide to introduce lean in their operations and services but majority of these companies achieved only modest levels of success (Womack Jones, 2003). It is reported that many organizations are not able to transform themselves to lean organization and thus at some point of time, lean implementation is destined to fail (Farris, et al., 2009). Some of the main factors for lean failures are poor communication, lack of strong leadership, lack of learning, staff resistance to change, and lack of clear direction (Emiliani Stec, 2005). The freelancer s average experience and mean quality rating represents the average quality of the freelancers that a project attracts. A buyer would have more high quality freelancers to choose from with a higher average experience and mean rating, which may facilitate the buyer s contracting decision. Freelancer quality dispersion is measured as the standard deviation of all freelancers rating (or experience), which represents the diversity of choices a buyer has; thus, it is ... Proletariat vs. Bourgeoisie in Karl Marx s The Communist Manifesto In The Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels attempt to explain the reasons for why there is class struggle and suggest how to prevent class separation. According to Marx there are two different types of social classes: the bourgeoisies and the proletarians. The bourgeoisie are capitalists who own the means of production and the proletarians are the working classes who are employed by the bourgeoisies. Due to their wealth, the bourgeoisies had the power to control pretty much of everything and the proletarians had little or no say in any political issues. The bourgeoisies made sure that the only way of survival for the working class was through them. Marx even believed that the churches were oppressing the proletarians because the bourgeoisies were controlling the churches. Therefore, Marx thought that religion should be abolished. Another thing that Marx believed had no existence was the government because the bourgeoisie held all political power.3 The proletarians and the bourgeoisies had very different ways in which they lived during the industrial age. The proletarians lived inside the city where pollution was very bad and overcrowded by a large majority of population, where as the bourgeoisies lived outside the city limits and controlled much of the land. Once the Industrial Revolution came the life in the cities where the proletarians lived became very drastic. Disease in the city became very bad and could destroy a large percentage of the population by causing death. The working class suffered from various types of diseases such as lung disease and many poisonings. The working class would not nearly live as long as the bourgeoisies because they would not be able to receive the medical care that they needed.4 Also crime in the cities became very high because criminals could get away very easily. Eventually law enforcement would be created to slow down the high rates of crime. Another thing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Comedy Of Manners Analysis The comedy of manners is a genre of comedy that became established on the English stage during the Restoration period. It can be said that the English comedy of manners started with George Etherege, second would be William Congreve (Palmer 2). Their plays focused on the behavior of people in a society and the feigned values that they cared about ( Comedy of Manners 1). These men constructed realism in their plays keeping their writings authentic and unique while also putting the comedy on stage as close to reality as possible, to show general life of time, its movements, its amusements, its general conceptions, were mirrored upon stage (Dobree 26 29). They used their observations from their own life to represent the setting, events, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The various types could be the fool, the deceiver, the hypocrite, the jealous wife, the interfering parents etc. Comedy of Manners has became well known and grown widespread over many periods in theatre history. Most theatrical genres begins in a certain era but spans upon many periods only if the works of later playwrights successfully tries to restore them which didn t happen a lot. English theatres were closed down between 1642 and 1660 when Oliver Cromwell and the Puritans conquered England and there was no aristocracy. In 1660 King Charles II took the throne and one of his first actions was to grant several key theatrical figures licenses to produce plays and breathe life into the theatre once more. Most of the writers wrote about things that they were passionate about or things that were popular during the time. To provide some examples, George Etherege has been called the actual founder of English comedy of manners (Palmer 31). Etherege described himself as being lazy and too careless to be ambitious, so he decided to write plays for his own enjoyment and for entertainment (Dobree 60). Etherege wrote Sir Fopling Flutter (1676), which is about a young aristocrat that takes place in London during the Restoration period who tries to win the affection ... With bio urns and burial pods, along with other eco friendly burial ways, you can preserve their memory in a whole new way. Burying someone in this form is to not only to bring beauty from one life to the next, it is a way of helping the environment, saving money, and in a sense, having that person s life source still living in the form of a comely tree or plant. When going with the bio urn process, this would cost about the same as the cremation process would, rounding up to about $2,500 including the cremation process and could be more cheap depending on the tree chosen which range to about $105, and even though the price may still be somewhat high, this provides for a greener, cleaner earth. From experience, the following are the TOP10 causes of Project failure that Mathew can think of (they are not in any kind of order): #1. Lacking Sponsor s Involvement/Ownership #2. Halo Effect (Wrong Man for the Job) #3. Poor HR Management #4. Poor/Inadequate Project Communications #5. Ignoring Project Stakeholders #6. Absence of Risk Management #7. Most projects focus on producing a rocket (only focus on delivery). Successful projects however look further: why do we create a rocket? Because we want to go to the moon. If NASA would have only focussed on delivering rockets, they would never have reached the moon and probably had produced a great number of disasters while delivering or using those rockets. A Business Case focus, rather than only a delivery focus! (By the way off topic: this delivery approach for me also caused the current financial crisis. Only focussing on the deal, not on the long term effects.) All reasons summed up in the question above are in my view symptoms and results of the delivery only approach rather than reasons. 3. 4. My father had been living with them and would visit me at least once every two months or so, but as soon as I had turned nine, my father introduced my to my half brother, who was a year and a third older than me. When they visited me, their visits were always brief; time seemed to fly by while I played games with my brother, Ken, but I later learned that it was my father s wife who did not allow him or Ken to visit me and she had not known they were visiting me due to the fact that they would lie. A few years had passed and she had finally accepted the results that I am alive and I was finally able to visit my father s house and meet her. I had actually gone to my father s house before while his wife was away on a cruise. My mother had told me heaps of stories about her past that involved my father s wife, Sue, and they all seemed atrocious. She knew we were married my mother uttered, but, she still told me that, She always gets what she wants. • 48. Analysis Of The Essay Disability By Nancy Mairs In the essay Disability, the author Nancy Mairs argues that the media portrays disabled people in an unjust manner. Mairs supports her claim by first appealing to the reader s emotions, second by proving her credibility as a disabled person, and lastly by appealing to the reader s sense of logic. Mair s purpose is to prove that disabled people are just as normal as anyone else in order to persuade advertisers to represent the disabled on television, newspapers, commercials, advertisements, etc. Based on Mair s informal tone and diction, she is writing for the common, intellectual audience who has the ability to make a difference in changing the views of the media and non disabled people towards the disabled. Nancy Mairs introduces her essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By cataloging normal things she does on an everyday basis, she relates to her audience by stating, I menstruate, so I have to buy tampons. I worry about smoker s breath, so I buy mouthwash. I smear my wrinkling skin with lotions. I put bleach in the washer so my family s undies won t be dingy. I drive a car, talk on the telephone, get runs in my pantyhose, eat pizza... Mairs wants the reader to understand she has a disability, but she is still able to live a life that is parallel to the people without her debility. In a similar way, Mairs uses repetition to emphasize the shift is about herself and that her credibility is strong. Her persuasive tone stands out within this paragraph, as well, due to her wanting the reader to distinguish how she can relate to them as she deals with everyday life, considering her audience is not disabled. She demonstrates her persuasive tone by asserting, Take it from me, physical disability looms pretty large in one s life. But it doesn t devour one wholly. I m not, for instance, Ms. MS, a walking, talking embodiment of a chronic incurable degenerative disease. Along with her catalog, Mairs uses empirical knowledge, within the paragraph and quote, to explain her first hand account of being normal whilst being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
