Destination Imagination Narrative
Destination Imagination Snap! The PVC pipes holding together the backdrop fell and everything was
falling apart. People were gasping and the judges knew that it was not supposed to go like this. My
mom said that I could choose the Destination Imagination team this year, I was thrilled to hear that, so
I chose several of my great friends. I was really excited to find out which challenge our team would be
doing this year. We finally decided that we wanted to do the Fine Art Challenge. In this challenge we
had to make someone have a phobia. We researched what a phobia is and the different types of
phobias. Our favorite one that we found was candiphobia, it means the fear of candy. We had great
ideas for this challenge so we just let loose and brainstormed until we knew just what to do. My friend
and I were gymnasts, so we knew that we could choreograph a short routine. Her dad was a builder
and we knew we had to incorporate some illusion, so he taught us about the different things, overall
we decided to make an infinity mirror. Every week we prepared for the tournament. We made
backdrops, props, costumes, and scripts. We worked so hard to put everything together just for the

Role Of Federalism In Mexico
Prior to gaining independence, Mexico was a thriving colony that was beginning to find its footing in
international trade, but inner conflicts within the government structure which had been increasing
dramatically, caused a great divide among citizens. Fueled by the disagreement between staying under
the tight restrictions of Spain s bourbon reforms or creating their own nation to which Mexico would
govern itself, a tug of war ignited as each side argued for their respective policies to be put in place.
Mexico gaining their independence in 1821 was the main cause which created the standoff between
centralism (eventually conservatism) and federalism (soon evolved to liberalism) as the two main
contenders for government policies. For three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

general ideologies remained the same. The change to conservatism and liberalism came about because
of the increase of lower class participation in politics, learning that they could have a voice in the laws

both factions had to comply with the poor as they feared revolt it they continued to ignore their

Why Is Socrates Foolish
Is the great civil rights activist a fool for being persistent in what they believe? They would argue that
you are foolish in your decision to not be persistent. So who would we be to declare Socrates a fool?
Before you can truly make a solid decision on whether or not you believe Socrates is foolish, you must
have a brief understanding of Socrates mindset. Socrates is put in a sticky position where he must
decide if he will be true to himself or to his passion. Socrates belief in justice is firm and directly
correlates to his decision to stay in Athens and be persecuted. Socrates character is a reminder of
maybe the greatest civil rights activist ever. Rather than viewing Socrates as foolish, I believe he is a
hero in his own right. After a solid understanding of what Socrates was trying to accomplish even in
his willingness to accept his crueler punishment, you will see that Socrates is far from foolish.
Socrates is actually really wise, and may have just been the wisest of his time.
The question could easily be, are you a coward for not wanting to accept your fate? The most effective
way to evaluate this question is if you equate this situation to a more modern and up to date situation
in your own life. People do not often give their true opinion on things until the situation ... Show more

Essay on A Century of Physics
A Century of Physics
By the end of the nineteenth century after more than two thousand years of intellectual struggle that
began with the Greek philosophers, physical scientists had reason to believe that they were beginning
to understand the universe. Their theories of matter and energy, of electricity and magnetism, of heat
and sound and light were confirmed in laboratories throughout the world with increasing precision.
Experimentation was the method and mathematics the language of a powerful coherent body of
knowledge called classical physics. For a few years before and after the turn of the century, the world
was taking a breather from war and rebellion. The monumental achievements of science, technology,
and industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chance discovery of radioactivity finally signaled the beginning of a new era in physics. As the
element polonium, identified by Polish born Marie Curie in 1898, emits radiation it changes
spontaneously into lead. This discovery shattered the belief inherited from the Greeks that the
elements are immutable and their atoms indestructible.
What causes atoms to decay?
What are they made of?
What forces are at work inside them?
Such questions were new to physics, and were to remain at its cutting edge throughout the twentieth
century. The answers would affect our lives in ways no one could imagine in the year of 1900.
The twentieth century began with a flurry of innovations such as the airplane, the mass produced
automobile, and transatlantic radio communication. They transformed the world, but the changes
sweeping over physics at the same time were far more radical. Those brought about not just different
lifestyles, but new ways of thinking. Modern physics grew out of classical physics and rest of three
pillars: the quantum theory, which describes atoms and their nuclei, Special Relativity, which deals
with the relationship between space and time and General Relativity, which explains gravity. The latter
two were the sole creations of Albert Einstein and even the former received a crucial

The Take Over Of The Children
The Take Over of the Children
Are you a literary festival virgin? Are you clueless about what to wear and expect? Have no fear, I am
here to help. I too was a lit fest virgin until recently when I unexpectedly embarked upon something
that has made me look at literature differently.
I m a student at Newman University in Birmingham and honestly, when I heard the words literary
festival my heart sank to somewhere not appropriate to mention (it begins with b and ends in um ). I
panicked before the events, on my first event, I didn t know what to wear. Did I go classy and middle
class or put on my best Miss Moneypenny glasses and borrow my Nan s cardigan? Really, I was so
flustered trying to get into Birmingham city centre (which took an hour) that when I arrived my jacket
was screwed up in my bag and my hair was mostly in my mouth. So instead I just went with big fluffy
comfort clothes and my paper and pen. Turns out, that you can wear what you like. So that is exactly
what I did for the rest of my time.
The Cardigan Brigade
When I think of literary festivals and the kinds of people they attract my mind automatically thinks of
the cardigan brigade , middle class men and women fawning over books while sipping wine and
talking about the deep workings of the books sub plot and other bullshit.
When I got there, my ideas of festival goers were completely blown out of the water. Since it was my
first time at a festival, I went all in and bought a festival pass so that I could

Napoleon Bonaparte Liberator Essay
You must accommodate yourselves to them. (Bonaparte, p.136) What is it about him that makes him a
legend? Just like many figures who succeeds the outcome of wars, they know themselves as much as
they know their enemies , which in this case is what Al Jabarti sees in Bonaparte while Napoleon
Bonaparte attempts to make certain it would not have to be that way. Why out of all nations did
Bonaparte go after Egypt? For the reason that the real adversary of France, was Britain, and Egypt was
the foremost passageway for Britain s valued colony: India. In the journey, what Bonaparte found was
yet another opponent: Mamelukes. This would be the chance to display the Egyptian their liberator. At
least, that is what Napoleon Bonaparte envisioned himself to be. To begin, a liberator is an individual
who frees a person or place from the confines of imprisonment. To explain, the loudest action to
emphasize their beliefs is by driving away the people who arise around the supposed actual settlers
that Bonaparte intermingles with. For instance, Bonaparte was intrigued in the sheik and its owner,
and when a little troop of Arabs on horseback gets to Bonaparte s established headquarters, there were
skirmishes that drove them out. It is what drives Bonaparte. Bonaparte could no longer repress his
rage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Describe how the identified resources can be repurposed to address specific ID needs. Denny Clifford
(ID) has identified resources such as numerous published articles related to children learning based on
Dr. Oakes problem centered science curriculum, a list of 24 teachers with experiences in the problem
solving technique, a box of videotapes of teachers applying the problem solving technique in their
classrooms, a list of local teachers interested in learning about Dr. Oakes problem centered science
curriculum, and a copy of the grant proposal that funded the development of the materials for science
teachers (Ertmer and Cennamo, 2007). These resources can be repurposed into something new and
different by creating a website for professional training tailored for teachers and administrators
interested in the problem centered science curriculum. The website can include:
New resources and tools personalized for various groups of audience. For example; adding closed
captions to videos in various languages to meet the needs of learners from across the country.
Detailed information about the problem solving science curriculum which can be obtained from the
published articles and copy of the grant proposal.
Videos, podcasts or links to them, which explains the problem solving learning approach
A blog and forum section for teachers to access additional information and to answer some of their
frequently asked questions. The blog will provide opportunities for Dr. Oakes to add new information
and updates which might come from her research or/and other teachers. Whereas, the forum section
can address specific issues or concerns that will benefit teachers from across the country. It will also
allow teachers to collaborate and work with each other over similar issues or concerns. The continued
interaction and feedback from the blog and forum can help Dr. Oakes review the content and progress,
and provide Denny with opportunities to solve individual problems in a timely manner.

The Existence Of God In The Brothers Karamazov
The existence of god is a question explored in the novel The Brothers Karamazov by three brothers.
Alyosha, a young, devoutly faithful man believes that God exists, and believes deeply in salvation
through the forgiveness of sins. Alyosha is almost innocent in his faith, as demonstrated when an elder
mentor becomes old and frail. Alyosha observes his lifelong mentor s body falling apart, and he
genuinely believes that a miracle will heal his mentor s body for being a faithful man. Alyosha
becomes extremely emotional when he observes that a miracle is not likely to happen, and claims that
though his faith was shaken by this event, he was still certain of God s existence. However, he does
add that although he knows God exists, that he does not accept the world God created in which a
miracle is not performed on his mentor.
Alyosha has a conversation with his brother Dmitri when he visits his brother in jail. Dmitri believes
that God exists. He states that men cannot live and God cannot exist without joy, because God s gift to
humanity is joy. He claims that man cannot exist in prison without God, and that it is stupid to believe
that man can love humanity without God.
Ivan, brother to Alyosha and Dmitri, also speaks to Alyosha on his beliefs in the existence of God.
Ivan, being a scholar and intellectual of sorts, is by far the most skeptical and critical of the brothers in
his assessment of the question. He claims initially that no natural law that made humans love each

The Impact Of Zombies On Society
In the modern world, media outlets and pop culture constantly revive the idea of zombies taking over
human society. From The Walking Dead to Michael Jackson s Thriller, zombies are portrayed as slow
moving living dead creatures shown in mass amounts to create the idea of consumption. While this
monster as it is depicted in movies and television shows is nonexistent, there are living zombies
walking the surface every day. They hide in the shadows of town and often only wear the clothes on
their back. They spend every day trying to survive with the little amount of money they can scavenge.
Money to them acts as the cure to help them get the necessary resources they need. Many people in
this nation and across the world are categorized as living under the poverty line. The spectrum of
people ranges from homeless and sleeping on the streets to large families settling in garage sized
apartments. Even when taking out of consideration the similarities in physical appearance, zombies
are an accurate representation of the major issue of poverty in today s society due to the instant
eeriness that the stereotypes of both subjects represent and the idea that the poor are unable to receive
the necessary health treatments.
The way higher income families degrade the poor or even the lack of support given to help is mainly
due to the negative stereotypes that are placed on social status. In the article Monsters and Messiahs,
UC Riverside professor Mike Davis examines how and why

Baking Soda Hypothesis
When baking soda and vinegar mixes, a chemical change occurs. So how much baking soda, added to
10mL of compound vinegar( CH3CooH), will cause a film canister to shoot the furthest? I thought the
answer to this question was 15mL of baking soda will shoot the lid of the film canister the furthest
because there will be a longer reaction with more baking soda which will propel it far. This change
happens because of they both have reactivity that causes the chemical change and shoots off the lid.
The independent variable is the amount of baking soda and the dependent variable is how far the lid
shoots. The amount of compound baking soda( NaHCO3) varied during several tests to see how far
the lid would shoot from the end of the table to the back wall. Evidence that this reaction has taken
place is the change in odor, color, and the appearance of gas or bubbles.
Materials:
Vinegar
Baking soda
Film canister
Paper towels
Measuring tools
Goggles
Methods:
1. Pour out 10mL of vinegar into the film canister, it should fill up about one fourth of the canister.
2. Put your of baking soda and pour it out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the reason for this is because we put less paper towel in the canister which allowed more gas to
build up, causing a more forceful and farther shot. This would make sense because the gas made by
the vinegar and baking soda mixing is what caused the lid to fly off. 15mL would not leave enough
room for enough gas to be produced to shoot very far and 3mL would not cause a big enough reaction
to shoot the lid extremely far, so that s why in between those two numbers, 9mL, was the best for
shooting the lid the farthest and why my hypothesis was

Endangered Animals Are Endangered Species
Every year Florida s wildlife animal numbers decrease at an alarming rate. Endangered animals exist
all over the world, but Florida s official state animal is one of the most endangered animals in the
entire world. The main reason some animals become declared as endangered is humans. Humans have
caused a huge toll on the wildlife s lifespan and have become a burden in their natural way of living. It
is how the human population behaves that decides whether these animals can live a normal life or
pushes them into endangerment or even extinction if the case is severe. Many of Florida s wildlife
animals are endangered due to the consequences of pollution, the behavior of poaching, and the loss of
habitat. Pollution is one of the top reasons why many of Florida s animals are endangered or are
classified as threatened in result of becoming endangered. The most common form of pollution that
affects the aquatic life in Florida is called water pollution. Water pollution is pollution in water occurs
when a chemical, physical or biological element causes a body of water to become toxic, unusable or
inhospitable to living organisms (Gemma). In other words, when foreign substances enter the water,
the aquatic life is not familiar with these substances; it disrupts the normal lifestyle of these animals.
When the case of water pollution is severe, it goes to the extremity of disturbing the animals so much
that many of them begin to die off because they cannot adapt to these new

Private Child Support Essay
Private child support collection services become necessary in recent years. They are necessary because
of the many families that have had to go without court ordered child support payments. The problem
is that many parents fail to pay their child support payments on a regular basis. These deadbeat parents
may also take a variety of steps to get out of their financial responsibilities. Those steps can make it
difficult for government agencies to collect. The collection methods used by the state may include
placing liens on property, but these liens are not always effective. You Can Have Both the Government

That said, interstate collections may not be easy for a state child support agency. A private collection
company with experience in interstate collections may be able to help. A Private collection Agency
Can Help Even if Child is Emancipated Emancipation can make it difficult for a government agency
to collect unpaid child support. For instance, some states may not collect child support in a case with
an emancipated child. In cases with emancipated children, the United States Office of Child
Enforcement says that states are not under any obligation to collect in response to another state s
request. However, most states have liberal statutes of limitation. The statutes of limitation allow a
private collection service to be effective where a government agency would not be. Private Collection
Companies Have Lighter Case Loads One reason that government agencies are unsuccessful has to do
with the number of cases they have. Government child support agencies often struggle to deal with a
high caseload. The caseload of private collection companies is comparatively low. The result is that
private child support enforcement services are often able to spend more time on their clients cases.
The extra time means that they can solve tougher

The Voting Rights Act 42
SUMMARY The Voting Rights Act 42 U.S.C. §§ 1973 et seq., decision is important regarding the
laws governing voting rights and their relationship to minority voters. Its implication and effects
however does not end within the legal realms and dimensions but continues through to society,
culture, and human rights. The Voting Rights Act initially established in 1965 under Lyndon B.
Johnson s administration protected racial minorities from biased voting practices. It was a huge stride
in the civil rights movement and a victory over harmful, archaic, and biased voting practices and
traditions.
In 1973 Congress amended the Voting Rights Act and extended protections to members of languages
minorities. The new language minorities classification meant that the act s protection now extended to
voters non English speaking minorities. These classifications included those who spoke Spanish,
Native American languages, Native Alaskan languages, and Asian languages. Some of the changes to
the new amendment within the Voting Rights Act prohibited literacy tests as a requirement for voter
registration. It also required jurisdictions with large minority language speaking populations to have
non English speaking ballots as well as oral voting instructions that conformed to the language
minorities within their districts. Additionally, the new amendments to the Voting Rights Act also
protected minorities from voter dilution (the nullification of minority group votes through a

Contribution Of An Ethnographic Research On Friendship
Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the contribution of an ethnographic approach to research on
friendship. I will be looking at, and including evidence to support both sides of the argument as to
whether or not this research method is in fact useful when it comes to gaining knowledge about
friendship. As well as evaluating this method, I will compare it against others to reflect on the
strengths, weaknesses and the typical data collected. I will look at some of the questions about
friendship that have been addressed, and then whether this is the best method or if there are others that
could have been more suitable.
Ethnography is a qualitative method of research in which the researcher takes part in the activities of a
group such that they are able to complete their observations over a period of time in a natural, real life
environment.
When it comes to investigating friendship, one question that has been raised is what is the role of
friendship in the life of a 13 year old? . Several sources of data include ethnographic notes taken
whilst spending time with a group of friends during school lunch breaks and diary/blog entries etc.
Firstly, in this case the researcher would need to carefully consider the strengths and weaknesses of
each type of data, for example, when looking at a blog the information/data available is likely to be
information that the author wants to share with a wider audience whereas a diary entry is more private.
In this case, both documents

Where Is The Line Between Depression And Being Depressed...
Where is the Line Between Having Depression and Being Depressed ?
I remember it well, the first time I thought I had depression. I was 17. My psychology textbook had
innocently listed the symptoms of clinical depression, and I read them with increasing fervour, the
cogs in my mind whirring and clicking into place. This is me! I thought, my obviously fully developed
adult brain making proper conclusions. Equal feelings of dread and relief settled into the pit of my
stomach. Despite my knowledge that psychology students have a tendency to incorrectly self
diagnose, this was my reality for the six years separating now and then. I maintained this belief
through a detrimental concoction of confirmation bias and self fulfilling prophecies.
Countless times I ve sat, mindless gaze fixed on the wall, eyes brimming with silent, slow tears. The
void opens in my chest, I reach for my phone, then stop, with the helpless hesitation of one who truly
believes that none of her friends will care. You are useless, my mind whispers. You are worthless. I
stare listlessly at stucco ceilings, white and blank and empty; I hide within the folds of duvet covers; I
wither within a trench of self pity. The insidious beast settles in, to either destroy my relationships or
render me useless in any endeavour. But, once the storm passes, I am myself again ostensibly flatline
but not necessarily depressed.
Over the years my experience has not continued to be so bleak, though, and I discovered in my

Simpson et al. found that participants in existing relationships rated people of the opposite sex as less
attractive than participants not in relationships. This suggests that people judge prospects of new
alternative relationships as less profitable if they are already in a committed relationship. The CLA
may provide an explanation as to why many women choose to stay in abusive relationships. If
investments in the relationship are high (e.g. children, financial security) amp; alternative prospects
are bleak (e.g. poverty, homelessness), then a woman may see staying in the abusive relationship to be
more profitable than leaving it. Blau (1977) argued that interactions are expensive , as they take time,
energy and commitment and may involve unpleasant emotions and experiences. Therefore what we
get out of a relationship must exceed what goes in. Rusbult found that costs and rewards from a
relationship were weighed up in comparison to possible alternative relationships when deciding
whether they should be maintained which supports that social exchange models idea that people assess
rewards by making comparisons. Walster et al believed that social interactions involve an exchange of
rewards, like affection, information, status. The degree of attraction or liking reflects how people
evaluate the rewards they receive in relative to those given. Costs of being in a relationship may be
effort, money spent, time spent, or low self esteem, whilst the rewards may be pleasure,

Caregiver Viewpoint
Caregivers View Point:
Being the caregiver to a terminally ill patient has to be one of the most extraordinarily jobs out there,
but one of the hardest jobs mentally as well. As a caregiver, you must help and watch a patient s health
decline ever so rapidly, and watch the families fall into tears. As a caregiver, you have to prepare
yourself for the worst, but the hardest part of the job is breaking the bad news. So how does a
caregiver go by and break the bad news to the families? In the beginning of breaking the bad news the

families before taking the next step. This helps give the family time to take the information home and

what they would like to hear today. You may find yourself to be surprised when someone knows what

may ask them, What would you like to know. And go from there. Just make sure as the caregiver to be

The Influence Of Zoonosis
It appears that zoonosis has added another means of infecting humans to its arsenal. A veterinarian at a
New York City animal shelter where cats were infected with a strain of bird flu was also infected by
the strain of flu that the cats had. As we all know zoonosis is a disease that can be transmitted to
humans from animals. In this case it was the cats housed in the shelter. Fortunately, as reported by the
New York City health department, only the veterinarian was infected. The vet only had a mild illness
from the virus, called H7N2. More than 160 Animal Care Centers of NYC employees and volunteers,

Normally we think of zoonosis origins that are associated with the production of food. This case is
slightly different because felines are not part of the usual American diet. However, there are several
conditions that fostered a favorable habitat for a zoonotic event to occur. The first stage no doubt
began with much earlier events, perhaps when pigs first caught the flu and infected humans. In turn
people infected pigs with the flu. Each brewed a unique and mutated version of the virus to spread to
the next host. The second stage possibly began with the central housing of multiple felines from
assorted origins and with varied health conditions. These animals once adopted are distributed into a
wide geographical into homes of owners who interact in close proximity of their pet, and come in
contact with body fluids and fecal matter of their pets. In addition to the other variables, the people
who receive these pets have a wind range of overall levels of health too. This formula creates a perfect
equation for the door to open for the next emergence of a new pandemic strain to seize the lives of

The Tradition Of Dogma And Despotism
Throughout the period dubbed the long century between 1685 1815. Scientific, political and
philosophical understanding experienced a radical reconstruction. The venerable traditions of dogma
and despotism began to be denounced and rebutted. Age old political institutions became the focal
point of intellectual discussion and the ideas developed from these debates formed the fundamental
components of modern democracy and Communism. When discussing the Enlightenment, it is worthy
to note that it did not occur in one geographical location in a short space of time, but more rather
spanned across many countries such as Germany, England and France. The Enlightenment and its
thinkers inspired revolutions in England, America and France, which marked the end of area that
untimely gave way to Romanticism. Due to the vast assortment of philosophical ideas, this essay aims
to portray the developments in political thought as a set of general strands of thought, as appose to
precise theories. This essay can be seen as a discussion of the origins, nature and contested status of
the most important strands of political thought spawned of this era with a consideration of the affects
such ideas have had on the political organization of civilisations. As Skinner, Pocock and Collini
noted, in order to understand the development of aforementioned ideas the context in which they were
derived from must first be understood and related to contemporary conceptual paradigms and

Given To Fly Eddie Vedder Meaning
In 1991 when Eddie Vedder wrote and performed his album Ten, he knew he was competing with the
big time grunge band; Nirvana. Once it hit the stage it was clear there was no competition. Eddie s
deep, emotional messages throughout this album, his shaky, raspy voice that transfers from screaming
lyrics to soft, poetic like speaking. All tied together with his hard to hate persona that can be heard
throughout this album and every album made by Eddie Vedder.
In the song Given To Fly Eddie says He got up out of there, ran for hundreds of miles / He made it to
the ocean, had a smoke in a tree / The wind rose up, set him down on his knee. In this verse Eddie is
describing his life and how he needs to get away from it all and just have a peaceful break, alone.
Vedder likes to use his life in third person in most of his songs to make his message more distant, and
almost more easily relatable. The song Given To Fly is actually a second or a reference to the song
Going to California By Led Zeppelin and how just leaving might help out more than anything.
Throughout the album there are several different songs with an abundance of different meanings. The
song, Alive, has one of the deepest messages that is tied to his life personally. The song is about a boy
that finds out that who he thought was his father, is actually his stepfather and his real father is dead.
Eddie said the song is a work of fiction based on reality (SK) . When Vedder was born his mom had
left his father and

Experiential Family Therapy
Experiential family therapy is a general theoretical model that has evolved since its beginnings in the
1950 s to include current models like Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and internal family
systems model. Grounded in the belief that dysfunction in the family comes from suppressed
emotions, experiential therapy endeavors to create experiences in the here and now that will allow
families to examine their internal processes, and not get stuck at the intellectual level of problem

Satir taught that all people have an innate drive to grow, and that this drive is blocked by the impact of
the family system. She felt that it s not that people come into therapy not wanting to change, but rather
not believing that change is possible. However, transformation is the goal in experiential therapy,
which can be seen in shifts in how clients think and feel and how their drive for grow manifests
positively in their lives and relationships. Change is brought about by powerful here and now
experiences in therapy, and a deep, empathic and accepting relationship with the therapist (Brubacher,
2006).

progresses Sylvia met a young and appealing ornithologist, often named as The Hunter , who is in

She was quite frightened when she first heard the hunter whistling; she interprets it as not a bird s
whistle which would have a sort of friendliness, but boy s whistle, determined and somewhat
aggressive. (Jewett 5) Sylvia s reaction after she heard the whistling signifies her fear of the human
kind and the hunter who made the whistle represents a part of Sylvia s home town which was
somewhat too crowded for her. Considering the fact that Sylvia is afraid of the human kind and does
not feel comfortable in her home town, she feels at home in the forest and as one with the natural
world. But her relationship with nature came to a point where she had to undergo a ritual test to prove
her worthiness and courage; her test takes the form of a literal climb to a higher place, from where she
can see the world. (363) The process of the test consist of a climb to the top of an old pine tree, in the
forest, which she believes that one can see the ocean once at the top. She thought, perhaps, she can
locate the heron s nest if she climbs to the top of it. She had difficulty climbing the tree but she had
managed with determination and bravery to reach the top. Sylvia s courage summons a response from
the tree, a deep and intimate bond of trust in which nature rises to the needs of the girl without her
asking. (Atkinson 376) At the top of the pine tree Sylvia had seen the world and she feels like she

Market share
Market share is defined as companies sales as a percentage of total sales volume in a specific industry,
market or product area. In the local region, Qantas managed to outweigh its competitor by gaining a
toll of 65% compared to its competitor. Evidently this shows Qantas is the number one preferred
airlines compared to other competitor airlines like Virgin, Tiger Airways and Emirates airlines.
However the situation is not the same in South East Asian region as Qantas only managed to obtain
about 15% of market share compared to likes of Air Asia who leads the market share with 60% in this
region. Conversely, this is not a concern for the airlines as the airlines managed to generate revenue of
5 billion dollars, with a predicted passenger growth of 4.9% which is equivalent to 2.9 billion
passengers by 2034.

Wealth-Power Related Economic and Socialist Theories
The different theories of political economy had attempted to explain international political economy
through formulating a clear relation between the interaction of wealth and power. Is political power
more significant on the international level for the stability of the state compared to economic
development? How does power and wealth shape the society, and as a result shape the international
sphere? The questions regarding the relationship between power and wealth are, in my opinion, the
most important questions, not only in the sphere of international political economy, but also in the
social sciences sphere as a large. It significance comes from it s essential role in determining the
structure of the society and the nature of every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historical Realism on the other hand takes into consideration the historical development at that
moment, the moment of development. Scholars of historical Realism still see the state as an agent that
attempts to farther its self interest; however, they also are interested in the historical factors, which
affect the state decision in pursuing its goals in relations to other states. Thus, we can see that the
realist prospective emphasizes the role of the state as the supreme power, ignoring the role of other
actors, such as international organizations and multinational corporations. By that logic, states seek to
gain power; wealth is a tool to gain that power, it is not an end by itself; and economic interest will
change with the change of the position of the state within the international sphere. One must ask then,
in a globalized world, where economic actors have significant power as much as political actors, can
we still consider the state as the most important player in the international sphere? Mercantilism, as I
see it, is the other side of the coin in relation to realism. Mercantilists emphasize the importance of
economic protectionism for the national industries, especially for manufactured goods, through high
tariffs. This theory, as in realism, point out the importance of maintaining national interest above all;
however, economic

Smith Software Testing Environment Proposal
Smith Software Testing Environment Proposal BSA/385 Introduction to Software Engineering
Abstract Smith Systems Consulting has received some feedback and concerns that their processes and
procedures are not sufficiently documented. This lack of professional documentation has caused some
loss of potential contracts for the firm. The Learning Team Bravo has been given the assignment to
define, develop, and propose standards for a software testing environment at Smith. This will be
accomplished by defining the Smith engagement approach, introducing the way the firm works with
clients and how projects are managed, defining the software development and quality assurance

environment, and by defining the format and requirements for development of formal program
specification. Smith Systems Consulting recently tasked Learning Team Bravo (LTB) with developing
a standardized project plan, approach, and testing procedures. It is Smith s goal to show prospective

People were gasping and the judges knew that it was not supposed to go like this. My mom said that I could choose the Destination Imagination team this year, I was thrilled to hear that, so I chose several of my great friends. I was really excited to find out which challenge our team would be doing this year. We finally decided that we wanted to do the Fine Art Challenge. In this challenge we had to make someone have a phobia. We researched what a phobia is and the different types of phobias. Our favorite one that we found was candiphobia, it means the fear of candy. We had great ideas for this challenge so we just let loose and brainstormed until we knew just what to do. My friend and I were gymnasts, so we knew that we could choreograph a short routine. Her dad was a builder and we knew we had to incorporate some illusion, so he taught us about the different things, overall we decided to make an infinity mirror. • 6. Role Of Federalism In Mexico Prior to gaining independence, Mexico was a thriving colony that was beginning to find its footing in international trade, but inner conflicts within the government structure which had been increasing dramatically, caused a great divide among citizens. Fueled by the disagreement between staying under the tight restrictions of Spain s bourbon reforms or creating their own nation to which Mexico would govern itself, a tug of war ignited as each side argued for their respective policies to be put in place. Mexico gaining their independence in 1821 was the main cause which created the standoff between centralism (eventually conservatism) and federalism (soon evolved to liberalism) as the two main contenders for government policies. • 7. Why Is Socrates Foolish Is the great civil rights activist a fool for being persistent in what they believe? They would argue that you are foolish in your decision to not be persistent. So who would we be to declare Socrates a fool? Before you can truly make a solid decision on whether or not you believe Socrates is foolish, you must have a brief understanding of Socrates mindset. Socrates is put in a sticky position where he must decide if he will be true to himself or to his passion. Socrates belief in justice is firm and directly correlates to his decision to stay in Athens and be persecuted. Socrates character is a reminder of maybe the greatest civil rights activist ever. Rather than viewing Socrates as foolish, I believe he is a hero in his own right. After a solid understanding of what Socrates was trying to accomplish even in his willingness to accept his crueler punishment, you will see that Socrates is far from foolish. Socrates is actually really wise, and may have just been the wisest of his time. The question could easily be, are you a coward for not wanting to accept your fate? The most effective way to evaluate this question is if you equate this situation to a more modern and up to date situation in your own life. • 8. Essay on A Century of Physics A Century of Physics By the end of the nineteenth century after more than two thousand years of intellectual struggle that began with the Greek philosophers, physical scientists had reason to believe that they were beginning to understand the universe. Their theories of matter and energy, of electricity and magnetism, of heat and sound and light were confirmed in laboratories throughout the world with increasing precision. Experimentation was the method and mathematics the language of a powerful coherent body of knowledge called classical physics. For a few years before and after the turn of the century, the world was taking a breather from war and rebellion. The monumental achievements of science, technology, and industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chance discovery of radioactivity finally signaled the beginning of a new era in physics. As the element polonium, identified by Polish born Marie Curie in 1898, emits radiation it changes spontaneously into lead. This discovery shattered the belief inherited from the Greeks that the elements are immutable and their atoms indestructible. What causes atoms to decay? What are they made of? What forces are at work inside them? Such questions were new to physics, and were to remain at its cutting edge throughout the twentieth century. The answers would affect our lives in ways no one could imagine in the year of 1900. The twentieth century began with a flurry of innovations such as the airplane, the mass produced automobile, and transatlantic radio communication. They transformed the world, but the changes sweeping over physics at the same time were far more radical. Those brought about not just different lifestyles, but new ways of thinking. Modern physics grew out of classical physics and rest of three pillars: the quantum theory, which describes atoms and their nuclei, Special Relativity, which deals with the relationship between space and time and General Relativity, which explains gravity. The latter two were the sole creations of Albert Einstein and even the former received a crucial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Take Over Of The Children The Take Over of the Children Are you a literary festival virgin? Are you clueless about what to wear and expect? Have no fear, I am here to help. I too was a lit fest virgin until recently when I unexpectedly embarked upon something that has made me look at literature differently. I m a student at Newman University in Birmingham and honestly, when I heard the words literary festival my heart sank to somewhere not appropriate to mention (it begins with b and ends in um ). I panicked before the events, on my first event, I didn t know what to wear. Did I go classy and middle class or put on my best Miss Moneypenny glasses and borrow my Nan s cardigan? • 10. Napoleon Bonaparte Liberator Essay You must accommodate yourselves to them. (Bonaparte, p.136) What is it about him that makes him a legend? Just like many figures who succeeds the outcome of wars, they know themselves as much as they know their enemies , which in this case is what Al Jabarti sees in Bonaparte while Napoleon Bonaparte attempts to make certain it would not have to be that way. Why out of all nations did Bonaparte go after Egypt? For the reason that the real adversary of France, was Britain, and Egypt was the foremost passageway for Britain s valued colony: India. In the journey, what Bonaparte found was yet another opponent: Mamelukes. This would be the chance to display the Egyptian their liberator. At least, that is what Napoleon Bonaparte envisioned himself to be. To begin, a liberator is an individual who frees a person or place from the confines of imprisonment. To explain, the loudest action to emphasize their beliefs is by driving away the people who arise around the supposed actual settlers that Bonaparte intermingles with. For instance, Bonaparte was intrigued in the sheik and its owner, and when a little troop of Arabs on horseback gets to Bonaparte s established headquarters, there were skirmishes that drove them out. It is what drives Bonaparte. Bonaparte could no longer repress his rage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. The Existence Of God In The Brothers Karamazov The existence of god is a question explored in the novel The Brothers Karamazov by three brothers. Alyosha, a young, devoutly faithful man believes that God exists, and believes deeply in salvation through the forgiveness of sins. Alyosha is almost innocent in his faith, as demonstrated when an elder mentor becomes old and frail. Alyosha observes his lifelong mentor s body falling apart, and he genuinely believes that a miracle will heal his mentor s body for being a faithful man. Alyosha becomes extremely emotional when he observes that a miracle is not likely to happen, and claims that though his faith was shaken by this event, he was still certain of God s existence. However, he does add that although he knows God exists, that he does not accept the world God created in which a miracle is not performed on his mentor. Alyosha has a conversation with his brother Dmitri when he visits his brother in jail. Dmitri believes that God exists. He states that men cannot live and God cannot exist without joy, because God s gift to humanity is joy. He claims that man cannot exist in prison without God, and that it is stupid to believe that man can love humanity without God. Ivan, brother to Alyosha and Dmitri, also speaks to Alyosha on his beliefs in the existence of God. Ivan, being a scholar and intellectual of sorts, is by far the most skeptical and critical of the brothers in his assessment of the question. • 13. The Impact Of Zombies On Society In the modern world, media outlets and pop culture constantly revive the idea of zombies taking over human society. From The Walking Dead to Michael Jackson s Thriller, zombies are portrayed as slow moving living dead creatures shown in mass amounts to create the idea of consumption. While this monster as it is depicted in movies and television shows is nonexistent, there are living zombies walking the surface every day. They hide in the shadows of town and often only wear the clothes on their back. They spend every day trying to survive with the little amount of money they can scavenge. Money to them acts as the cure to help them get the necessary resources they need. Many people in this nation and across the world are categorized as living under the poverty line. The spectrum of people ranges from homeless and sleeping on the streets to large families settling in garage sized apartments. Even when taking out of consideration the similarities in physical appearance, zombies are an accurate representation of the major issue of poverty in today s society due to the instant eeriness that the stereotypes of both subjects represent and the idea that the poor are unable to receive the necessary health treatments. The way higher income families degrade the poor or even the lack of support given to help is mainly due to the negative stereotypes that are placed on social status. • 14. Baking Soda Hypothesis When baking soda and vinegar mixes, a chemical change occurs. So how much baking soda, added to 10mL of compound vinegar( CH3CooH), will cause a film canister to shoot the furthest? I thought the answer to this question was 15mL of baking soda will shoot the lid of the film canister the furthest because there will be a longer reaction with more baking soda which will propel it far. This change happens because of they both have reactivity that causes the chemical change and shoots off the lid. The independent variable is the amount of baking soda and the dependent variable is how far the lid shoots. The amount of compound baking soda( NaHCO3) varied during several tests to see how far the lid would shoot from the end of the table to the back wall. Evidence that this reaction has taken place is the change in odor, color, and the appearance of gas or bubbles. I think the reason for this is because we put less paper towel in the canister which allowed more gas to build up, causing a more forceful and farther shot. Its implication and effects however does not end within the legal realms and dimensions but continues through to society, culture, and human rights. The Voting Rights Act initially established in 1965 under Lyndon B. Johnson s administration protected racial minorities from biased voting practices. It was a huge stride in the civil rights movement and a victory over harmful, archaic, and biased voting practices and traditions. In 1973 Congress amended the Voting Rights Act and extended protections to members of languages minorities. The new language minorities classification meant that the act s protection now extended to voters non English speaking minorities. These classifications included those who spoke Spanish, Native American languages, Native Alaskan languages, and Asian languages. Some of the changes to the new amendment within the Voting Rights Act prohibited literacy tests as a requirement for voter registration. It also required jurisdictions with large minority language speaking populations to have non English speaking ballots as well as oral voting instructions that conformed to the language minorities within their districts. • 20. Contribution Of An Ethnographic Research On Friendship Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the contribution of an ethnographic approach to research on friendship. I will be looking at, and including evidence to support both sides of the argument as to whether or not this research method is in fact useful when it comes to gaining knowledge about friendship. As well as evaluating this method, I will compare it against others to reflect on the strengths, weaknesses and the typical data collected. I will look at some of the questions about friendship that have been addressed, and then whether this is the best method or if there are others that could have been more suitable. Ethnography is a qualitative method of research in which the researcher takes part in the activities of a group such that they are able to complete their observations over a period of time in a natural, real life environment. When it comes to investigating friendship, one question that has been raised is what is the role of friendship in the life of a 13 year old? . Several sources of data include ethnographic notes taken whilst spending time with a group of friends during school lunch breaks and diary/blog entries etc. Firstly, in this case the researcher would need to carefully consider the strengths and weaknesses of each type of data, for example, when looking at a blog the information/data available is likely to be information that the author wants to share with a wider audience whereas a diary entry is more private. If investments in the relationship are high (e.g. children, financial security) amp; alternative prospects are bleak (e.g. poverty, homelessness), then a woman may see staying in the abusive relationship to be more profitable than leaving it. Blau (1977) argued that interactions are expensive , as they take time, energy and commitment and may involve unpleasant emotions and experiences. Therefore what we get out of a relationship must exceed what goes in. Rusbult found that costs and rewards from a relationship were weighed up in comparison to possible alternative relationships when deciding whether they should be maintained which supports that social exchange models idea that people assess rewards by making comparisons. Walster et al believed that social interactions involve an exchange of rewards, like affection, information, status. She was quite frightened when she first heard the hunter whistling; she interprets it as not a bird s whistle which would have a sort of friendliness, but boy s whistle, determined and somewhat aggressive. (Jewett 5) Sylvia s reaction after she heard the whistling signifies her fear of the human kind and the hunter who made the whistle represents a part of Sylvia s home town which was somewhat too crowded for her. Considering the fact that Sylvia is afraid of the human kind and does not feel comfortable in her home town, she feels at home in the forest and as one with the natural world. But her relationship with nature came to a point where she had to undergo a ritual test to prove her worthiness and courage; her test takes the form of a literal climb to a higher place, from where she can see the world. (363) The process of the test consist of a climb to the top of an old pine tree, in the forest, which she believes that one can see the ocean once at the top. She thought, perhaps, she can locate the heron s nest if she climbs to the top of it. She had difficulty climbing the tree but she had managed with determination and bravery to reach the top. Sylvia s courage summons a response from the tree, a deep and intimate bond of trust in which nature rises to the needs of the girl without her asking. Wealth-Power Related Economic and Socialist Theories The different theories of political economy had attempted to explain international political economy through formulating a clear relation between the interaction of wealth and power. Is political power more significant on the international level for the stability of the state compared to economic development? How does power and wealth shape the society, and as a result shape the international sphere? The questions regarding the relationship between power and wealth are, in my opinion, the most important questions, not only in the sphere of international political economy, but also in the social sciences sphere as a large. It significance comes from it s essential role in determining the structure of the society and the nature of every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historical Realism on the other hand takes into consideration the historical development at that moment, the moment of development. Scholars of historical Realism still see the state as an agent that attempts to farther its self interest; however, they also are interested in the historical factors, which affect the state decision in pursuing its goals in relations to other states. Thus, we can see that the realist prospective emphasizes the role of the state as the supreme power, ignoring the role of other actors, such as international organizations and multinational corporations. By that logic, states seek to gain power; wealth is a tool to gain that power, it is not an end by itself; and economic interest will change with the change of the position of the state within the international sphere. One must ask then, in a globalized world, where economic actors have significant power as much as political actors, can we still consider the state as the most important player in the international sphere? Mercantilism, as I see it, is the other side of the coin in relation to realism. Mercantilists emphasize the importance of economic protectionism for the national industries, especially for manufactured goods, through high tariffs. This theory, as in realism, point out the importance of maintaining national interest above all; however, economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
