How to Write Research Brief
HOW TO WRITE A RESEARCH BRIEF
BPRI Guidelines
CONTENTS
Introduction What information should I include? Background to the project Business and Research
Objectives Target audience Approach Deliverables Timings Budget Project Team Next Steps
INTRODUCTION
This document has been produced by BPRI to help clients write effective briefs for research agencies
We have developed this in response to a number of requests we have received from clients for advice.
There is no right or wrong way to write a research brief; however, following these guidelines will help
to ensure: You as the client have a clear view of what is needed from the research Internal parties have
a clear view of what the research can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What does success look like? Would a presentation or debrief workshop be the most useful way of
disseminating findings? Will you need a series of presentations for different audiences? Will you
require an interim debrief or an executive summary? Do you need feedback in a very succinct format
to facilitate a quick decision? Do you require any specific outputs e.g. multiple printed copies of
presentations/reports, data tabulations, SPSS data files, an online portal to host the deliverables?

WHEN DOES THIS NEED TO HAPPEN?
One of the most important factors to include in the research brief is timings. When are interim and/or
final results required? Do you need to meet key internal or external deadlines? Are these fixed? this
can influence choice of methodology/approach and sample sizes It has a major bearing on reporting
formats It also allows the agency to assess capacity and their ability to resource the project effectively
Clients should be aware that complex studies, particularly those involving international markets
require several days turn around time for proposal design and cost estimates. If in doubt, ask your
agency for advice.

WHAT IS YOUR BUDGET?
Most agencies prefer that clients give some indication of budget so that a research programme can be

Adolf Hitler s Accomplishments
Early in 1939, the start of World War Two, Germany was becoming a world super power. Germany
had an estimated eight million Hitler Youth soldiers, a booming economy, and newfound nationalism.
Germany was out of their depression, and after years of being ostracized from the rest of the world,
they were united. The German people loved their country and they also loved the man who pulled
them out of their economic depression. Adolf Hitler now the Keizer to Germany, every German man,
women, and child worshiped him. Hitler s greed, power, and military dominance soon overshadowed
his bright smile and firm handshake. Hitler was on the hunt for the Master Race . The Lebensborn or
Foundation of Life program was attempting to make the Aryan race, ... Show more content on

Tibbetts, JR., dropped the first atomic bomb Little Boy on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. The heat and
debris instantly vaporized seven hundred thousand citizens. Two days later, the Soviet Union declared
war on Japan. Many historians still argue over the reasons why Japan did not surrender after the first
devastating attack. Some believe Japan was not entirely sure it was a bomb, they received numerous
reports about the attack but they were unsure. Others believe it was because they would not be forced
into surrender, they would do it on their own terms. No matter what the explanation is, Japan delayed
surrendering. On August 9, 1945 a mushroom cloud rose over the Japanese city of Nagasaki. A ten
thousand three hundred pound, one hundred and twenty eight inch bomb nicknamed Fat Man , also
known as Mark III, was detonated by Major Charles W. Sweeney. This was the second nuclear
weapon of mass destruction used against Japan and resulted in eight hundred thousand deaths. In a
matter of three days, one million five hundred thousand human lives were taken. In months and years
that followed, an additional hundred thousand lives perished because of burns and radiation poisoning.
Fires were caused over two miles away from the original explosion. Finally, Japan issued a formal
surrender ceremony in Tokyo Bay, Japan, aboard the battleship USS Missouri on September 2, 1945.

The Definition Of Global Citizenship
Global Citizenship
In viewing the video Globalization: What Is Happening to us (2010). It is obvious why global
citizenship should be a must for all people. Modern technology has allowed us to communicate and
stay in touch with people all over the world including those dear to us like friends and family.
Advanced technology is a norm in today society whether you like it or not. All information now of
days is passed through advanced technology. It allows us to keep up with people and their culture and
norms. In social service field, it is crucial that I understand and able to communicate with my clients.
On the internet, I can research cultures and their norms. It is vital to learn differently about other
culture to better serve and communicate with them. It can be persuasively argued that effective care is
impossible without a working knowledge and understanding of a person s or groups cultures ns
background (NASW, n.d.).
Disagreement between Theorist
There is variations definition of global citizenship; the words are interchangeable with each other. A
theorist can each have their own high opinion regarding global citizenship. My definition of global
citizenship is that we are responsible to this world. People are responsible for human, human rights,
cultural and diversity. People are responsible for connecting the world, cultures, and people with each
other. Responsible for advocating for the world and its problem of others.

Policing Is A Major Effect On The World Terrorist Attacks...
Throughout the world the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 changed the way the world has
looked at terrorism. Everything from policing to the way people board onto airplanes and travel via
public transportation has changed in a tremendous way. Policing is a major effect that has changed at
all different training drills to be prepared for every situation for the different types of units just
focusing on terrorism. The NYPD has changed in a huge way from that day. They have started over
five different units to try and combat terrorism. They train every day for every situation and work
hand in hand with the FDNY to make sure they are prepared. Since September 11th the NYPD has

The newest unit of the NYPD is their new counterterrorism unit known as Critical Response
Command, which started in late November of 2015 and deployed the first unit out after the terrorist
attacks in Paris back in 2015. This new unit so far only consists of about five hundred with only one

locations around the city, in addition to the NYPD s emergency service unit. They will be equipped

the city. This new unit will work hand in hand with not only the other thousand counter terrorism

Psychological And Psychological Noise In Everything I...
Noise Everything I Never Told You is about an interracial American family trying to piece together the
fragments of the life, Lydia, the middle child, had before she tragically died at age 16. Throughout the
book, all the characters seem to face psychological and semantic noise when communicating with
each other. Psychological noise, also known as internal noise, refers to a communicator s biases,
prejudices, or feelings towards a person or message (West 13). Semantic noise occurs when senders
and receivers apply different meaning to the same message (West 14). It takes the death of Lydia for
the family to realize how little they truly know about each other and how noise kept them from
understanding one another their whole lives. Marilyn s psychological noise stemmed from her
childhood and affected everyone in her family. Marilyn s mother projected her desires onto her
daughter growing up, expecting Marilyn to find a Harvard man and settle down (Ng 30). Marilyn
would later in life, push her own desires on Lydia not realizing the life Marilyn wanted is not
necessarily the life Lydia wants. Marilyn says things to Lydia like only if you want to but the only
reason Lydia really says yes, is to keep her mother from running away again when she finds the
cookbook (Ng 138). Marilyn wanted Lydia not to feel like she had to fall into housewife duties like
her own mother had wanted, where Lydia just thought of her mom s tears on the page in the cookbook
where it claims there is a love little girls have for cooking with their mother. Marilyn said that Lydia
always seemed happy and eager to please, but Lydia was just putting on a smile in hope her mother
would never leave again (Ng 119). Lydia blamed herself all those years after Marilyn ran away and
even after Marilyn was back. All Lydia wanted was her family to stay together but Marilyn wanted her
to be exceptional. Marilyn experienced semantic noise on her wedding day when she told her husband,
James, what her mother said about marrying someone more like her. A message that Marilyn had just
brushed off, James had carried for years (Ng 203). Marilyn and James heard the same message that
day but experienced it in different ways, driving a wedge between them. James

An Analysis of Hilton s Lost Horizon
...the horizon lifted like a curtain; time expanded and space contracted In James Hilton s Lost Horizon,
the reader is promptly enticed to trek along with Hugh Conway and the three other kidnapped
passengers, Charles Mallinson, Miss Brinklow, and Henry Barnard. Hilton commences his novel by
utilizing the literary technique of a frame. At a dinner meeting, friends share their insights into life,
and eventually, from a neurologist, and friend of Conway, evolves the story of Conway s exotic
adventures.

Mallinson, still fuming with animosity towards the lamasery continues to make his plea to leave.
Finally, he just leaves, but with him travels Conway, for he was fond of his friend, and his friend also
took with him Lo Tsen, the beauty he secretly loved.
Hilton s novel leaves the reader with an unsolved mystery since the mystical powers of the slowing of
the aging process remained only within the grounds of the lamasery. Conway soon realizes this as Lo
Tsen ages instantaneously, and transforms into a woman ...most old of any one I have ever seen. From
here he must navigate himself back to the safety of the placid lamasery, but does he make it?
At this Hilton returns to the frame, in which the neurologist friend of his is trying to trace Conway s
path and find this sacred civilization. The tale was only revealed since he found Conway during his
escape from the lamasery, and had him write the manuscript dictating his story.
Fictional characters fall loosely into two categories: types and individuals. A type character being one
that is usually the embodiment of a single trait or an idea, whereas an individual character is a person
in his own right. The more complex, developing and maturing qualities of an individual character as
he evolves denotes the role of the Hilton s main character, Hugh Conway. Conway s facets develop
amazingly throughout the story. This is do to standards of the fictional society he ventures into,

Maui Dolphin Persuasive Essay
The Maui Dolphin an endangered species
Introduction:
1. Area of Focus:
The rapidly increasing world population (1 billion in 1820, 2 billion in 1920 and probably 7 billion in
2020) is putting enormous pressure on the habitats of many animals, as people use more space for
housing and for the production of food. The Maui Dolphin is one species affected by food production
as carried out by the fishing industry. I decided to do research on the Maui dolphin because of its
uniqueness and rarity. My purpose is to find out more about the endangered status of the Maui
Dolphin, why it has become rare, what problems are involved and what can be done to improve the
situation.

Timeline:
As far as my timeline was concerned, I spent the first day deciding on the topic and getting an
overview of the information available. The main research question was not difficult to choose, as there
is no doubt that the Maui Dolphin is an endangered species.
The next couple of days were spent in reading the information on some of the more relevant sites, as
well as skimming through a book on the topic and looking at some educational videoes. Then I started
to summarize the important facts within the framework of my research questions.
Presentation:
What: The Maui dolphin is the world s rarest and smallest known subspecies of dolphin. It is a
subspecies of the Hector s dolphin and has genetic and skeletal differences which make it distinct from
the rest of the Hector s species. The Maui dolphin has distinctive grey, white and black markings. The
sides and back are light grey, with white flames reaching up along the sides of its body. The underside
is whitish, while the face, flippers, dorsal fin and tail are all black. There is a crescent shaped black
mark between its blowhole and eyes. It has a short snout and is easily recognized by the round shape
of the dorsal fin. Females grow to 1.7 metres long and weigh up to 50 kg. Males are slightly smaller
and lighter. They are known to live up to twenty years. The calves live on their mothers milk for up to
a year although they can learn to eat at about six months. They use

Penicillin Research Paper
Penicillin is an antibiotic grown from a rare form of mold that is used to fight bacteria in the human
body. It is an extremely helpful medicine, but humans did not always know about penicillin, and it
took many scientist s work, such as Alexander Fleming, howard Florey, and Andrew Morer to perfect
the growth and use of penicillin, making it a widely available form of medicine. Penicillin was first
discovered By Alexander Fleming in September of 1928. In the article Not so dumb Luck Jessica Lane
explains When he peered into the dish, Fleming saw a ring around the mold. After some
experimentation, he found that the ring was bacteria free, and that the mold was a rare spore called
penicillium notatum. Alexander Fleming had just found the

The Problem Of Vaccines For Pharmaceutical Companies
Another claim against immunization is personal opposition to big pharmaceutical companies. Some
believe vaccines are charged to patients solely for profit. This pharmaceutical profit motive can call
into question product safety and integrity. The overwhelming majority of vaccines are not highly
profitable though (Lam). Due to the massive investment of time and funds required to create vaccines,
coupled with only marginal returns on this investment, pharmaceutical corporations do not focus on
them. As result, nonprofit health organizations and political agencies such as the CDC, and the WHO,
generally lead the charge in vaccine development. It is a real danger that companies will stop
developing vaccines altogether (Lam). Drug companies instead concentrate on well, drugs.
Continuous treatment medications require patients to purchase repeatedly, until it is no longer
necessary. (In some cases, patients may even take certain drugs until death.) The time interval of
vaccinations is, at the very least, yearly. In the case of the flu, rather than one flu shot, pharmaceutical
companies can profit more from selling antivirals, painkillers, and a host of other treatments to
patients that contract viral sickness. Medications, rather than cures are economically desirable. As a
biochemistry student myself, upon graduating I face the decision between conducting decent paying
scientific research or developing pharmaceuticals with the opportunity of making upwards of
$200,000 a year for

The Failing Discourse of the US Government Essay
In the United States, perpetual conflict is most noticeable in the political system. The cause of the
conflict is not that we have a two party system but rather that the parties are divided not by ideology,
but by identifying themselves as the antithesis of the other party. This kind of mentality hinders the
progression of ideas and prevents social and cultural growth. This is not a violent conflict over land or
over religion; it is a conflict over the very soul of the United States. By identifying themselves as
antitheses, they leave no room for growth in compromise or collaboration. Palliating this dilemma is
extremely difficult and differs greatly from the typical conflict because they are already supposedly

Whether these allegations are true or not, this type of mudslinging deflates the citizenry s belief that
the government is able to get things done and is working in the best interests of the people. Thus,
government rhetoric is destructive to the unity of the US because of its polarity, which pits Americans
against one another. So, how does a nation over come these issues? One possibility is to eliminate
parties all together, but this probably would not change anything. It would only push the colluding into
the shadows. The only real solution is to stop the polarization by having politicians realize they are
actually on the same side and must stop fighting each other. This can be done through conflict
transformation, but there must also be disincentives to using inflammatory rhetoric and colluding.
These events are prevalent in ideological disagreements like abortion rights and in both practical
disagreements like healthcare, and only through conflict transformation can there be any movement in
the stagnant US political system. The public debate over abortion in the United States has intensified
since the Supreme Court s decision in Roe v. Wade. Advocates on each side of the debate often hint
that we must select between two stark options: Pro life and Pro choice. Strong pro life advocates claim
that abortion is immoral (except perhaps in a few cases) because the fetus is a human being from the

Othello, The Moor of Venice Essay examples
Othello, the Moor of Venice is one of the major tragedies written by William Shakespeare that follows
the main character, Othello through his trials and tribulations. Othello, the Moor of Venice is similar to
William Shakespeare s other tragedies and follows a set of specific rules of drama. The requirements
include, following the definition of a tragedy, definition of tragic hero, containing a reversal of
fortune, and a descent from happiness. William Shakespeare fulfills Aristotle s requirements in this
famous play. Aristotle the famous philosopher outlined several requirements in which a play or piece

Othello, the Moor of Venice follows one of Aristotle s requirements. Aristotle s second requirement
for a tragedy is that the tragic hero must have a reversal of fortune. In the beginning of the play,
Othello is seen as content with his new bride: For know, Iago, But that I love the gentle Desdemona
(1.2.24 25). As the play progresses, and Iago s plan culminates, Othello s good fortune begins to turn.
After Othello returns from war at sea with the Turks, his fortune begins a downward spiral.
Shakespeare often focuses his plays on human nature as well as fate, which Othello s fate ended in the
tragic ending due to his reversal of fortune once the claims against Desdemona begin. After Othello
learns of a possible affair between Cassio and Desdemona, at this instance is the turning point in
Othello s fortune because it changes his views, attitudes and ultimately his fate. In

Retirement Planning
Retirement

Retirement Retirement seems to be one of the most often overlooked areas of people s future plan.
Simply because it seems so far away, it is an area that is subject to procrastination. People are
expected to live longer now than ever before, this is another reason why young adults and teenagers
are not worried about saving for their retirement. The baby boom generation, the seventy seven
million people born between 1943 and 1960, face an entirely different retirement plan. As they began
to retire, people are starting to think that there will be no money left and this will turn into a crisis.

The Mystery Of Liars By Nancy Farmer
Ever since we were young we were shunned away from telling lies and were taught that it was wrong.
Why is it that lying was immoral, but then as we grow up we drift away from that lesson? Many can
say that we are cowards who hide behind our lies. Today there exist a white lie which states that you
are telling a lie to help someone. Why do we teach our kids that lying is bad when adults lie all the
time? In the quote Nancy Farmer compares the liars to rats who are cowards that hides and runs
around in dark places because looking at the word lying it can gives off a vibe of a dark and lonely
place. Just like rats who runs and hides in dark places, liars are basically hiding behind the shadows
and living alone in their lie. From the quote I agree and disagree with the quote, where I agreed with
the quote that liars are basically rats who hides and run from the truth, they don t care if it s unpleasant
to others and see lying as an escape route from trouble. Where I disagree is they can t be called
cowards because they might be telling a white lie and instead of being unpleasant, it can actually help
the person that is receiving the lie.
Getting told a lie is a very unpleasant feeling for some while for others. They have a stronger
mentality and can withstand being told a lie. Personally in my opinion, being told a lie makes one feel
as if they can t trust the person anymore due to the fact that they are hiding something. For the person
receiving the lie it is much more

Advertising Campaign Is Not An Easy Task
Firms spend large amounts on advertising, estimated to reach $600b in 2015 , this spending represents
sunk costs . Increases in spending will not necessarily prove successful; moreover an effective
campaign will engage consumers and provide positive brand attitudes. For this reason this area of
research is important and should be noted. Increasing the effectiveness of one s advertising campaign
is not an easy task; there are many issues that have to be acknowledged and, more importantly,
understood. A plethora of research has been undertaken regarding consumer behaviour; one only
needs to look at the sheer volume of academic articles and books on the topic. There are however
several categories within consumer behaviour that a firm can target dependant on their product
offering. Exposure, memory and attitude pose these issues. Foremost exposure refers to the process by
which the consumer comes in to physical contact with a marketing stimulus and they can be exposed
to this stimulus during any stage of their decision making process. Exposure is mostly affected by
three factors; the position of the advert in mediums (e.g. TV or print); product distribution; and shelf
placement. Furthermore consumer memory refers to the persistence of learning over time ;
information is retrieved both consciously and unconsciously. Such memories can be retained for any
given period of time and stem from experiences and evaluations. Finally attitude is an evaluation a
consumer expresses

The Effects Of Media On The Media Influences Viewers
Racial Bias in the Media Influences Viewers
Television reaches more consumers for more time than any other source of media. Its use for
entertainment or news is overly influential, persuasive, and authoritative. Through these
characteristics, any type of information or message influences its massive audience. Because of this,
what Americans see or fail to see has a powerful impact on how they view other races. Young children
are especially vulnerable to the information they are exposed to. TV is a vehicle to provide
experiences and information not otherwise available to them. Older audiences, however, are also
vulnerable to the information. Consistent messages about traits and stereotypes of other races
reinforce specific ideas to the adult viewer. Viewers aren t limited to racial bias when other races are
on the screen, but are also susceptible when races aren t included. As a strong and influential tool,
television uses both obvious and subtle racial bias to influence its viewers.
Television is a strong and influential tool. To first understand why television has a strong influence on
its viewer s, it is important to know some basic facts. According to Nielsen s National Television
Household Universe Estimates, there are 116.4 million TV homes in the U.S. prior to the start of the
2014 15 TV season. The number of persons age 2 and older in U.S. TV Households is estimated to be

Duggan Consumer Culture
With the continuing development of Internet technology, news has never been shared faster. It is easy
to access national and international news in seconds. Despite the fact that network news may be losing
some viewers, online articles and news sites are gaining more attraction. News and media can have a
significant impact on people s perceptions of different cultural issues, thus affecting consumer culture.
According to Bryant and Oliver (2009, p.9) how a person feels about a particular issue may be rooted
in his or her personal experience of in the general culture or exposure to the mass media . Throughout

Tribal Art BBC Documentary vs. The Great African Art Collector The Tribal Art BBC Documentary
and The Great African Art Collector Interview have very different perspectives. The Tribal Art
documentary BBC Documentary revolves around a White European man, Griff Rhys, trying to
understand African Art and why certain pieces are used, their meanings, etc. Griff Rhys is an outsider
looking into the world of African art and culture. The second film, The Great African Art Collector, is
a Black man speaking about African art, his collection, the history, and his experiences as a collector.
As a Black man his perspective about African art is about self love, appreciating his culture, and
wanting other Black people as a whole to be knowledgeable about their culture/history and to love
being Black. There is a huge difference between a black person appreciating their own history and art
form than another race being obsessed with African art. Most people that are not Black that claim to

An Explanation Of Child Protection Within The Wider...
An explanation of child protection within the wider concept of safeguarding children and young
people.
Safeguarding is protecting vulnerable adults or children from abuse or neglect. It means making sure
people are supported to get good access to health care and stay well. It is wrong if vulnerable people
are not treated by professionals with the same respect as other patients. It is making sure that people
are supported to have full and happy lives. It is making sure that people get safe and empowering care.

Career Of AAutomotive Technician
Career College Research Paper I would like to be an automotive technician. Automotive technicians
inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles. I chose this this career because I have worked on cars since I
was young. Not many people want to be an automotive technician. As a result, there are more jobs
available than there are qualified technician. Most automotive technicians work in good environments.
Automotive technicians work in a well ventilated and lit repair shops or some will work in the pits at a
racetrack but, these locations can be very Tumultuous. I hope to be working in the pits. Technicians
work full time hours and overtime is common. Technicians can work in many urban areas, including
dealerships, and independent shops. Automotive technicians must first, show up a few minutes early.
In these ten minutes or so, they should unlock their toolbox, clean their work bay and tools, and check
their emails if necessary. Then they should open up the shop, and work on any unfinished projects.
Throughout the day, more work may show up. Depending on the severity of the work, it should either
be set aside until there is time or should be done immediately to get the vehicle back to the customer.
Another job of a technician is to explain the problem, the work to be done, and the cost to the
customer. Customers could easily overreact over a problem that, to the technician, seem simple. It is

The Cornerstone Speech And The Thomas Nast s Cartoon
The cornerstone speech and the Thomas Nast s cartoon
The American Civil War erupted in 1861 due to the constitutional and ideological differences between
the Northern and the Southern states. The North advocated for equality and protection of human
rights. On the other hand, the South considered the white to be more equal than the blacks. There are
two historical documents that bring out the picture of the United States during the 1860s. The
documents are the cornerstone speech by Alexander H. Stephens and the editorial cartoon by Thomas
Nast that depict the inauguration of President Lincoln on 23rd, March 1861. The documents bring out
the racial and gender based prejudice that was rampant in the American society during the 19th
century. Stephens s speech provided the principles of the Confederacy state that were in contrast to the
policies of the Union.. Thomas Nast editorial cartoon shows the reaction of the North and South to the
election of President Lincoln. The South despised Lincoln since he was against slavery.
The cornerstone of the Confederacy
According to Alexander H. Stephens, the cornerstone of the Confederacy was slavery. Stephens
believed that the white were more superior to the blacks and deserved better privileges. It was the
natural and moral right of the white to be superior and the black to be inferior. He considered slavery
to be a natural and moral condition. Stephens was a strong advocate of slavery in America. The
Southern States of America supported

Measure For Measure Death Essay
Measure for Measure:
Shakespeare creates a twisted outlook on the concept of death in Measure for Measure. He displays
comedy but also includes a tragic element by introducing the binary of life and death. He uses a
combination of history, tragedy, and comedy to create this problem play. Shakespeare paints reality by
frequently portraying death, which is a stark contrast to the comedic genre the play initially begins
with. I
The theme of afterlife emerges in Act 3 Scene 1 and remains prominent throughout the play, the Duke
(as Friar Lodowick) causes Claudio to realize he has nothing to live for and makes death appealing to
him. The Duke says:
Friend hast thou none
For thine own bowels which do call the sire

seems to be tragic.
Nay, hear me, Isabel Isabella: O, fie, fie, fie! Thy sin s not accidental, but a trade. Mercy to thee would
prove itself a bawd Tis best that thou diest quickly. Claudio: O, hear me, Isabella (III.i.165 170)
Claudio begs for his life which pressurizes Isabella to give up to Angelo s suggestion, however
Isabella shouts back in disgust because Claudio had started to consider Angelo s offer. She would
follow the path of a nun rather than saving her brother s life. Isabella says bawd referring to herself
giving her body for something in return, as a prostitute would for money. In this case, she would be
have Claudio s life spared, instead of money. She exclaims that she wants Claudio to die, but does not
allow Claudio to speak. Isabella storms off without giving Claudio a say in his death, letting him know
that she betrayed him. At this moment, the characters take a tragic turn, during which they debate the
value of life or the purpose of death. III Duke (As Friar Lodowick): Angelo had never the purpose to
corrupt her;
Only he hath made an assay of her virtue, to practice his judgement with the disposition of natures.
...tomorrow you must die. Go to your knees and make ready. (III.i.180 185)

William Shakespeare s The Prince And Julius Caesar
Texts are a reflection of its contextual values; it is evident that aspects of human nature remain
constant irrespective of context. Texts ruminative of this include Tim Parks translation of Niccolo
Machiavelli s The Prince (1532) and William Shakespeare s historical tragedy Julius Caesar (1599).
The values and attitudes of these two texts anticipated responders and influenced purpose, form and
content such as the darker aspects of humanism, the changeless nature of man, and the fickle nature of
people.
Machiavelli s text The Prince mirrors the darker aspects of humanism man is essentially corrupt, self
serving and deceptive . His intended responders were a select of people in power and of educated elite,

Machiavelli suggests that the most supreme approach to change the degenerate individual into a
decent individual is through the good law, although even the best law is pointless. Machiavelli
characterizes man as being self serving and not willing to act in the best interest of the state, and when
the prince is in danger they turn against him . Machiavelli strengthens the prince s need to be feared
by stating, Men worry less about doing an injury to one who makes himself loved than to one who
makes himself feared . To acquire honour, Machiavelli suggests that a prince must be readily willing
to deceive the citizens. These treacherous measures would bring the prince honour and trust among the
citizen, suggesting that man s nature is changeless, which is exemplified in Shakespeare s Julius
Caesar through the character of Mark Antony.
Mark Antony in Julius Caesar abandoned Caesar as soon as he is killed and to seek his own glory.
Being a true friend of Caesar, Mark Antony promises Caesar s soul that he would seek revenge against
the conspirators for his brutal murder, And Caesar s spirit, ranging for revenge, with Ate by his side
come hot from hell...That this foul deed shall smell above the earth with carrion men, groaning for
burial. . Shakespeare utilizes dramatic irony when Brutus takes Antony s promise of not saying

Daycare And Daycare
Daycare We all waited for the bell to sound from each classroom precisely at 2:40pm. There was a
wave of anticipation in the air. Everyone sat impatiently waiting for the afternoon announcements to
be over. Once the dismissal bell would release us, there were kids escaping in each direction. Some
kids would get on the bus, some would get in the car rider line, and others would walk or even bike
home. Three tall crossing guards and the assistant principals would stand near each exit to make sure
every child gets to their designated place. After a long day of school, I would look for the rusted,
blemished navy blue daycare van. The name of the daycare was originally printed on the van, but
currently, the only thing that could be seen were the letters CH HO IM. I always remember this
particular detail because when people would ask what daycare I went to, those letters were exactly
what I would say. Children House of Irmo was the name of the center. The exterior of the van was so
faded and worn to the point where the van looked as if it were involved in multiple automobile
accidents. The paint was chipping, and some of the scratches were longer than my arm. The vehicle
also had large noticeable dents along the left side. If anyone saw the vehicle, they would think, Why
would anyone let their children go there? However, despite the appearance of the van, the daycare was
one of my favorite places to go as a kid. The ride from school to daycare was long as we had to make

Childhood Obesity Policy Essay
One Health and Social Care Policy which I am going to critically review is the childhood obesity
policy. The 2010 2015 government policy: Obesity and Healthy Eating was updated in May 2015 and
states many ways for improvements to be made. The purpose of this policy is to try to reduce the
amount of unhealthy foods children eat in the UK.
A key factor of health in later life is childhood obesity. Childhood obesity is a medical condition
where excess body fat negatively affects a child s health or well being. Medical conditions are not the
only factor which causes children to be obese it is the parental/family influences as well. Family
influences on children are a huge factor because when children are younger they eat what the parent s
eats which can determine what the child ends up eating.

sports culture, ability to localize games, and international distribution.
Functional Strategies
Product strategy: EA¡¦s product strategy is based on the franchise model. 70% of their sales consist of
new releases of previous hits. They also seek to be toward the cutting edge of technological
innovation. Sales strategy: The company¡¦s current sales strategy is to use their field sales
representatives and call centers to sell their games to over 80,000 retailers. Internationally EA has
strong sales in Europe with a relatively weak representation in Asia. Their strategy in that arena is to
spread the fixed costs of producing a game over as many different sales channels as possible.
Marketing Strategy: Sustain leadership status in industry by simultaneously promoting popular EA
game titles and releasing localized multi lingual games on several platforms. EA Sports VP is

Essay on Discrimination Against the Gypsies
There are some 15 million Roms dispersed across the world. Their history is one of suffering and

their culture and are looking for their identity. On the other hand, they integrate into the societies in
which they live. If they are understood by their fellow citizens in their new homelands, their culture
will enrich the society s atmosphere with the color and charm of spontaneity (Ghandi). The word

There are, however, five main points that all Roma have adopted. These are loyalty to family, a belief
in God and the acknowledgement of the devil, a listing of standards and norms followed by the tribe
members, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions from migrating (Patrin). They also all have a
high level of respect for the elderly among their tribe, and put strict regulations on their unmarried
women. Also, the different dialects of the Roma seem to have stemmed from one source, which is
considered to be Punjabi or Hindi. Whatever tradition the different groups of Roma may have, they all
hold on to these traditions and are still put into play today. For example, the Roma women are married
young, usually around twelve or thirteen, and the marriages are arranged according to the ties or in an
attempt to strengthen ties between two families (Wikipedia). Gypsy communities can be found all
over the world. Gypsies were even among the earliest settlers in the Americas because the European
government began rounding up entire Gypsy communities and deporting them to the Americas.
Gypsies were also deported earlier in history for the purpose of serving as slaves. The Gypsies were
dispersed all throughout the Americas leaving behind them an impact on the native s culture. For
example, many of Jamaica s folktales have a Gypsy theme to them. Another example would be how
some slang words in Latin America have Gypsy origins.

Methyl Mercury Research Paper
Minamata was once only a small bay, filled with fish and sea life. Then, in 1932, the Chisso
Corporation of Japan opened a chemical plant in Minamata, dumping their waste into the bay. The
factory they built produced acetaldehyde, a synthetic acid which had many uses, from photography to
scientific research. The factory served a global purpose, exporting the acetaldehyde around the world,
however the side effects of its production were kept local. Acetaldehyde was produced by Chisso
using mercury sulfate as a catalyst (Boston University). The process began with water and carbide,
which were combined to create Acethylene. From here, water and sulfuric mercury were added, to

It has three main effects. The most prominent, is that it acts as a neurotoxin. It affects the brain and
nervous system of organic beings. The second effect, is that it replaces calcium in bones. This causes
major deformities, and often leads to death. Finally, it is a carcinogen, causing cancer in most things
which come into contact with it. In Minamata Bay, small fish and plants would absorb the mercury,
then be consumed by larger animals. It travelled through the food chain, until it reached mammals on
land. The mercury had undergone biomagnification, where larger animals in the food chain contain
more mercury, because they consume many smaller animals. Soon, large fish caught by the people of
Minamata contained over a million times the amount of mercury found in the smaller fish (Gilbert,
2004). The methylmercury was soluble in fats, specifically the fats in fish. This changed the poisonous
methylmercury into a lethal toxin, as it would bind with proteins. People consumed these fish on a
regular basis, however so did the much smaller cats. Because the cats were so much smaller, they

Domestic Violence In Homeless Families
Past and current research indicate that many families do become homeless as a result of domestic
violence. According to the Senate Judiciary committee, citing a report prepared by the Ford
Foundation, 50 percent of all homeless women and children in this country are fleeing domestic
violence. (Zorza p. 421). Families in homelessness and victims of domestic violence struggle with
adhering to financial pressures and as a result struggle with financial hardships. Families that are
victims of domestic violence are challenged with paying their basic bills such as rent, electricity,
water, etc. Many victims of domestic violence have been fully dependent on the abuser making it
difficult for them to leave their home. Many victims of domestic violence never escape their situation
because they don t have the means too. Some women choose to stay and manage the violence. They
regard this as a safer option than to lose everything, propelling themselves and their children into
homelessness and more poverty. (Slabbert p. 4). Research conducted show that poverty and financial

perpetuates its usage in business and beyond as the tool is used to assess alternatives and complex

The 142 studies were examined for trends, issues, uses of SWOT, and value added in long term
planning. Specifically, studies were sought that indicated sole use of SWOT analysis or if SWOT was
used in combination with other long range strategic planning tools. The authors next used affinity
diagrams to group and classify the collected studies using summaries on index cards. Affinity
diagrams are a popular text clustering technique used to categorize large number of seemingly
disparate comments ([41] Dobrzynski, 2007; [106] Levesque and Walker, 2007; [132] Plain, 2007;
[196] White et al. , 2002; [117] Mango, 2006). The affinity diagram methodology was chosen due to
its importance as an interpretative, qualitative approach to research, allowing for investigation and
emergence of multiple contextual variables or classification schemes. The objective of the
methodology is to utilize the qualitative data for explanatory purposes and to generalize findings in
support of theory based on a distillation of the various respondent comments. The clustering of issues
into logical categories helps draw inferences from the data collected. Thus the goal is to better
understand categories of service failures and identify the service failures that result in customer
defection. The researchers summarized, grouped, and clustered the comments by key themes and

When I chose to be a marine biologist, my parents were very supportive. They would take us to the

numerous goals that I would hope to accomplish in my field like being promoted to the highest

The Mental And Emotional Effects Of Life During The Secret...
The Mental and Emotional Effects of Life in the Secret Annexe Imagine dozens of families being

is the most famous. Anne Frank and her family hid in a location known as the Secret Annexe when the
Nazis came for them, a small area behind the business building of Anne s father s company. She and
her family lived here in hiding with four other people in hiding for nearly two years before being
discovered and being sent to concentration camps. During their stay in the annex, the living conditions
of being in hiding created tension among the people there, which changed the eight originally kind and
caring people into selfish and harsh individuals. The people of the Secret Annexe changed and warped
emotionally and mentally in a negative way as shown by the seeming hostility in the conversations
between the annex inhabitants, the selfish actions of the people in the annex, and the thoughts of the
inhabitants who try to convince themselves that they will survive the war that show how

Organizational Culture And Its Cultural Culture
To greet each other in Tibet, you stick out your tongue and put your hands together in front of your
chest. In Japan, it is only polite if you bow to each other when greeting. There are hundreds of
different ethnic groups in the world and they all have their own customs and traditions that stemmed
out from their underlying culture. Similar to these ethnic groups, each organization also have their
own unique culture that guides how people behave and what people believe in within the organization.
In formal terms, organizational culture is the set of values, norms, guiding beliefs, and understandings
that is shared by members of an organization and is taught to new members. [p.332; Organization

way people dress, and even the atmosphere at the workplace. These visible artifacts and observable

the right specifications which can be making the spotting scope waterproof or even fog proof and
ensuring it has the quality you need such as giving you eye relief and having extended warranty. There
are many ways you can attempt buying a spotting scope. You can begin by looking at the price range
then looking at the features of the spotting scopes. Spotting scopes are a good way for people to watch
stars in their comfort of their houses or for field scientists to look at constellations. A good way to
attempt purchasing the spotting scope is through dividing it according to the primary purpose whether
it is bird watching, astronomy, hunting, marine , etc. Once the purpose has been chosen you can then
compare the different brands such as Barska, Bushnell, Celeston and other good brands. The step after
would be finding out whether you would want to use an angled or straight spotting scope. Once you
have selected the brand you can delve upon finding the right magnification power which can usually
be measured in terms of two numbers. The first number specifies the power of the lens and the second
specifies the diameter. The next step would be to consider the weight of ... Show more content on

is by no means a strict guide to which you should adhere to because there are new features in spotting

History Of Wrestling Essay
Wrestling represents one of the oldest forms of combat. The origins of wrestling goes back 15,000
years through cave drawings in France. Here are the four old types of wrestling. Greco Roman
wrestling soon became prestigious in continental Europe and was the first style registered at the
modern Olympic Games, beginning in Athens in 1896 with one heavyweight bout, and grew in
popularity during the 20th century. Another form of wrestling is freestyle wrestling. Freestyle is a style
of amateur wrestling that is practiced throughout the world. Along with Greco Roman, it is one of the
two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic games. Folkstyle wrestling started when the French
and English settlers started moving to North America, and it started ... Show more content on

Another type of wrestling is pankration. This type of wrestling is a combination of wrestling and

ancient Greece. Its name derives from the ancient Greek words pan (all) and kratos (strength, might,
power) and literally means all of the might. In 648 BCE, Pankration was introduced as a sporting
event in the 33rd Olympic Games where it joined Wrestling and Boxing in a category called heavy

Descriptive Essay About Barbecue
BARBEQUE GRILLS
The smoky, heart warming and mouth watering smell of sizzling barbecue is in the air. It s nostalgic, it
s delicious and all the more joyous. You can smell it from your house even if it is coming from the end
of the street. Well, it s contagious too... it makes you want to have it! And I am sure it s the next thing
that you will be planning for your family and friends!!
Barbecue is an art, a meditative process the perfection of which depends solely on personal judgment.
It starts with building a fire that will burn steadily without getting big. It makes use of a vessel that
will smoke the meat (or vegetables, cheese, etc) gently without burning it. The intermittent glazing of
fat on the cooking meat imparts a unique flavor that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This enables the meat to get tenderized and the flavor of the spice rub or marinade goes deep in the
meat so it is seasoned from the top to the core. Before the grilling, make sure the vessel or grill is fiery
hot. It is usually done by manually burning charcoal pieces till they glow. There can be two methods
of barbecuing, one of them is grilling in which the food comes directly in contact with the grill and the
intention is to impart grill marks on the food. In the second method, the meat or vegetables chunks are
threaded on skewers which are placed so that the heat from the coal cooks the food without actually
coming in contact with the vessel. For an extra smoky flavor throw in some soaked wood chips from
oaks or hickory. You can also add a herbal essence to the meat by tossing fresh herbs like rosemary,
oregano and basil directly on the charcoal and covering the meat. Whichever way you prefer, the
experience in all will surely leave you full and

The role of human resources is also very important in maintaining an effective health care industry. If
the managerial personnel are performing their duties effectively and efficiently in a health care
organization, the organization will automatically progress. Additionally, the organization will provide
the improved outcomes of the patient health and health care delivery as well. This is so because
human resource is also considered as one of the most important inputs to effective health care
services. Although there exists a variety of challenges in inducting qualified human resource
professionals but there is a strong need to solve this issue. (Kabene, 2006)
The challenges associated with the HRM i.e. human resource management includes the distribution
and composition of health care work force. In addition to this, the issues related to the training of the
work force are also a challenge for the human resource management. The relocation of the health
workers is also a great concern. Moreover, the degree of economic development is also a great
challenge that negatively impacts the level of performance shown by a health care organization. These
challenges must be addressed properly in order to have an effective health care delivery anywhere in
the world.
If we compare the health care financing of past and that of recent times, there exists a dramatic shift in
the trends of the issue. In the past times, the

Targeting Children

Southern Illinois University Carbondale
JRNL 407 Social Issues Advertising
Nadine Rueckner
Spring 2015
Introduction
Advertising in general influences everyone in many ways, particularly children imperiled by
advertisements and its effects. (Raju Lonial, 1989) I think it is an important topic to protect the
children from advertising, specifically from tobacco advertising, because we all know that smoking is
not good for your health, might cause cancer and could lead on to death.
Statement of Purpose
I want to show some examples of tobacco advertising and discuss especially why the industry selected
children as a target group with a short history and giving some examples how they targeting children. I
also want to share the advertising regulations that were made all over the world to restrict tobacco
advertising in the countries particularly to children.
Influence of cigarette advertising had the strongest and most consistent effect on the initiation of
smoking

History
Before World War I broke out, the majority of the militaries were smoking pipe. Pipes and cigars were
the most popular types of tobacco smoking at this time. It emphasized the image of masculinity in the

A Discussion On Organizational Culture
It is the fourth day of the retreat and fifteen people are sitting in a conference room on the bank of the
Mohican River in Ohio. The conversation is difficult; to the rhythm of brief respites of silence, the
careful culling of words betrays the veiled tension. The moderator has been facilitating a discussion
centred on the difference between leading and managing; many wonder: What s the point? Everyone
attending mostly individuals who for years have been deeply immersed in a traditional manufacturing
shop floor environment work at Tool, Inc., a hierarchical organization where workers followed
supervisor s orders, who in turn executed the senior team s strategy and mandates. To participants,
facilitators look like supervisors, so they impatiently wait for an order. But they are not ordering, but
asking. Naturally, it took them a few days to connect with the facilitators, who had been laboriously
kneading them into a mind set where such an intangible conversation about organizational culture
would even be possible. After an hour of persistent nudging, one jaded machinist finally summarized
Tool, Inc. s culture: Do your eight, hit the gate . It would take more than just one retreat and
participants from every role, layer and team across the organization to finally achieve the headroom
necessary for the conversation facilitators meant to have that day. Defining the many differences
between leading and managing was, of course, not a purely semantic pursuit. Tool,

Tibbetts, JR., dropped the first atomic bomb Little Boy on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. The heat and debris instantly vaporized seven hundred thousand citizens. Two days later, the Soviet Union declared war on Japan. Many historians still argue over the reasons why Japan did not surrender after the first devastating attack. Some believe Japan was not entirely sure it was a bomb, they received numerous reports about the attack but they were unsure. Others believe it was because they would not be forced into surrender, they would do it on their own terms. No matter what the explanation is, Japan delayed surrendering. On August 9, 1945 a mushroom cloud rose over the Japanese city of Nagasaki. A ten thousand three hundred pound, one hundred and twenty eight inch bomb nicknamed Fat Man , also known as Mark III, was detonated by Major Charles W. Sweeney. This was the second nuclear weapon of mass destruction used against Japan and resulted in eight hundred thousand deaths. Advanced technology is a norm in today society whether you like it or not. All information now of days is passed through advanced technology. On the internet, I can research cultures and their norms. It is vital to learn differently about other culture to better serve and communicate with them. It can be persuasively argued that effective care is impossible without a working knowledge and understanding of a person s or groups cultures ns background (NASW, n.d.). A theorist can each have their own high opinion regarding global citizenship. My definition of global citizenship is that we are responsible to this world. • 7. Psychological And Psychological Noise In Everything I... Noise Everything I Never Told You is about an interracial American family trying to piece together the fragments of the life, Lydia, the middle child, had before she tragically died at age 16. Throughout the book, all the characters seem to face psychological and semantic noise when communicating with each other. Psychological noise, also known as internal noise, refers to a communicator s biases, prejudices, or feelings towards a person or message (West 13). Semantic noise occurs when senders and receivers apply different meaning to the same message (West 14). It takes the death of Lydia for the family to realize how little they truly know about each other and how noise kept them from understanding one another their whole lives. Marilyn s psychological noise stemmed from her childhood and affected everyone in her family. Marilyn s mother projected her desires onto her daughter growing up, expecting Marilyn to find a Harvard man and settle down (Ng 30). Marilyn would later in life, push her own desires on Lydia not realizing the life Marilyn wanted is not necessarily the life Lydia wants. Marilyn says things to Lydia like only if you want to but the only reason Lydia really says yes, is to keep her mother from running away again when she finds the cookbook (Ng 138). Marilyn wanted Lydia not to feel like she had to fall into housewife duties like her own mother had wanted, where Lydia just thought of her mom s tears on the page in the cookbook where it claims there is a love little girls have for cooking with their mother. Marilyn said that Lydia always seemed happy and eager to please, but Lydia was just putting on a smile in hope her mother would never leave again (Ng 119). Lydia blamed herself all those years after Marilyn ran away and even after Marilyn was back. All Lydia wanted was her family to stay together but Marilyn wanted her to be exceptional. Marilyn experienced semantic noise on her wedding day when she told her husband, James, what her mother said about marrying someone more like her. A message that Marilyn had just brushed off, James had carried for years (Ng 203). Marilyn and James heard the same message that day but experienced it in different ways, driving a wedge between them. James ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Problem Of Vaccines For Pharmaceutical Companies Another claim against immunization is personal opposition to big pharmaceutical companies. Some believe vaccines are charged to patients solely for profit. This pharmaceutical profit motive can call into question product safety and integrity. The overwhelming majority of vaccines are not highly profitable though (Lam). Due to the massive investment of time and funds required to create vaccines, coupled with only marginal returns on this investment, pharmaceutical corporations do not focus on them. As result, nonprofit health organizations and political agencies such as the CDC, and the WHO, generally lead the charge in vaccine development. It is a real danger that companies will stop developing vaccines altogether (Lam). Drug companies instead concentrate on well, drugs. Continuous treatment medications require patients to purchase repeatedly, until it is no longer necessary. (In some cases, patients may even take certain drugs until death.) The time interval of vaccinations is, at the very least, yearly. In the case of the flu, rather than one flu shot, pharmaceutical companies can profit more from selling antivirals, painkillers, and a host of other treatments to patients that contract viral sickness. Medications, rather than cures are economically desirable. The cause of the conflict is not that we have a two party system but rather that the parties are divided not by ideology, but by identifying themselves as the antithesis of the other party. This kind of mentality hinders the progression of ideas and prevents social and cultural growth. This is not a violent conflict over land or over religion; it is a conflict over the very soul of the United States. Whether these allegations are true or not, this type of mudslinging deflates the citizenry s belief that the government is able to get things done and is working in the best interests of the people. Thus, government rhetoric is destructive to the unity of the US because of its polarity, which pits Americans against one another. So, how does a nation over come these issues? One possibility is to eliminate parties all together, but this probably would not change anything. It would only push the colluding into the shadows. The only real solution is to stop the polarization by having politicians realize they are actually on the same side and must stop fighting each other. This can be done through conflict transformation, but there must also be disincentives to using inflammatory rhetoric and colluding. These events are prevalent in ideological disagreements like abortion rights and in both practical disagreements like healthcare, and only through conflict transformation can there be any movement in the stagnant US political system. The public debate over abortion in the United States has intensified since the Supreme Court s decision in Roe v. Wade. • 16. The Mystery Of Liars By Nancy Farmer Ever since we were young we were shunned away from telling lies and were taught that it was wrong. Why is it that lying was immoral, but then as we grow up we drift away from that lesson? Many can say that we are cowards who hide behind our lies. Today there exist a white lie which states that you are telling a lie to help someone. Why do we teach our kids that lying is bad when adults lie all the time? In the quote Nancy Farmer compares the liars to rats who are cowards that hides and runs around in dark places because looking at the word lying it can gives off a vibe of a dark and lonely place. Just like rats who runs and hides in dark places, liars are basically hiding behind the shadows and living alone in their lie. From the quote I agree and disagree with the quote, where I agreed with the quote that liars are basically rats who hides and run from the truth, they don t care if it s unpleasant to others and see lying as an escape route from trouble. Where I disagree is they can t be called cowards because they might be telling a white lie and instead of being unpleasant, it can actually help the person that is receiving the lie. Getting told a lie is a very unpleasant feeling for some while for others. They have a stronger mentality and can withstand being told a lie. Increases in spending will not necessarily prove successful; moreover an effective campaign will engage consumers and provide positive brand attitudes. For this reason this area of research is important and should be noted. Increasing the effectiveness of one s advertising campaign is not an easy task; there are many issues that have to be acknowledged and, more importantly, understood. A plethora of research has been undertaken regarding consumer behaviour; one only needs to look at the sheer volume of academic articles and books on the topic. There are however several categories within consumer behaviour that a firm can target dependant on their product offering. Exposure, memory and attitude pose these issues. Foremost exposure refers to the process by which the consumer comes in to physical contact with a marketing stimulus and they can be exposed to this stimulus during any stage of their decision making process. Exposure is mostly affected by three factors; the position of the advert in mediums (e.g. TV or print); product distribution; and shelf placement. Furthermore consumer memory refers to the persistence of learning over time ; information is retrieved both consciously and unconsciously. Such memories can be retained for any given period of time and stem from experiences and evaluations. Finally attitude is an evaluation a consumer expresses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Effects Of Media On The Media Influences Viewers Racial Bias in the Media Influences Viewers Television reaches more consumers for more time than any other source of media. Its use for entertainment or news is overly influential, persuasive, and authoritative. Through these characteristics, any type of information or message influences its massive audience. Because of this, what Americans see or fail to see has a powerful impact on how they view other races. Young children are especially vulnerable to the information they are exposed to. TV is a vehicle to provide experiences and information not otherwise available to them. Older audiences, however, are also vulnerable to the information. Consistent messages about traits and stereotypes of other races reinforce specific ideas to the adult viewer. Viewers aren t limited to racial bias when other races are on the screen, but are also susceptible when races aren t included. As a strong and influential tool, television uses both obvious and subtle racial bias to influence its viewers. Television is a strong and influential tool. To first understand why television has a strong influence on its viewer s, it is important to know some basic facts. As a Black man his perspective about African art is about self love, appreciating his culture, and wanting other Black people as a whole to be knowledgeable about their culture/history and to love being Black. There is a huge difference between a black person appreciating their own history and art form than another race being obsessed with African art. Most people that are not Black that claim to be appreciative of African art, African American culture, anything African come from a place of fetishtion and a false deep connection with African culture, in this case African art. Some kids would get on the bus, some would get in the car rider line, and others would walk or even bike home. Three tall crossing guards and the assistant principals would stand near each exit to make sure every child gets to their designated place. After a long day of school, I would look for the rusted, blemished navy blue daycare van.
