Environmental Problems Of Overpopulation
As the population is growing upward of 7.6 billion people, the world is facing environmental
hardships. Since the population is growing to an unsustainable level, this issue becomes prominent for
all people. Due to the population increasing, resources such as food, water and fuel are becoming
scarce. Overpopulation, defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary, is the condition of having a
population so dense as to cause environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a
population crash. There are a few causes of overpopulation, such as the declining death rate, better
developed medicine, a lack of family planning and immigration. There is a recent decline in death
rates and an increase of birth rates, a main source of the population increase. When the population
increases, so do the environmental problems it entails. In the 18th century, philosopher Thomas
Malthus predicted that overpopulation would cause the Earth to be stripped of its resources. However,
the world has mostly taken concern with the growing numbers and not the environmental issues. The
problems that come with overpopulation include global warming, species extinction and deforestation,
loss of fresh water and depletion of natural resources. Overpopulation will eventually become the
world s most eminent environmental issue because the earth will not be able to sustain all of humanity.
Throughout history, overpopulation has been seen as a threat by three major people. First, Thomas
Malthus, in

The Importance Of Social Work For Refugees And Asylum Seekers
Social Workers have a duty, professionally and morally to support refugee children and asylum
seekers.
Social workers have a professional and moral duty to ensure that services are provided to those who
most need it. The duty that Social workers have toward Refugees and asylum seekers, particularly
children is strong but not often met. People s wellbeing is a key ideal within social work and is
strongly represented within the Care Act 2014, the earlier Children s Act 2004 is also clear on the
protection of children s rights in the UK. In the essay there will be a discussion on how in some areas
the statute is not strong enough to allow Social Workers to work properly, but also how there needs to
be changes regarding social work focus on refugees.
Recently, United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) has campaigns to help reform the UK s current
law on family. The law only recognises parents or spouses and civil partners as family. A child refugee
may have an older sibling, or more extended family such as an uncle but they would not be allowed
into the country under the Family Reunion rules. The dangers for children trying to reach family in the
UK are high and it leaves them at risk of exploitation, 78% of adolescents face some form of
exploitation whilst travelling the Central Mediterranean route to Europe, UNICEF (2017). Social
Workers have a duty here to protest the UK s laws, and the decision of the Government not to join the
EU s relocation scheme for Refugees. They did

Characteristics Of A Successful Time Period During Late...
The traits that define a successful time period in late Imperial China are necessary expansion, unifying
the people, and the construction of an effective and incorrupt political structure. The effects of meeting
these criteria is sustained influence in following Chinese time periods both short term and long term,
as other rulers will benefit from what their predecessors have accomplished, or try to imitate
successful policies. As a team, the Kangxi emperor and his successor, the Yongzheng emperor, were
able to achieve all of the goals for a prosperous period in Chinese history. Although it was a relatively
short period, the Kangxi and Yongzheng emperor s times on the Qing throne were extremely
complementary, and ultimately came together to form the most successful time period in late Imperial
China.
The Kangxi emperor s greatest contributions to the Qing Dynasty were his impressive military forces
used to expand his lands and keep peace within them, and his ability to establish a foundation for
order in those lands. The Kangxi emperor was on the throne for sixty one years, and brought
expansion and a stable government to the Manchu Qing dynasty by integrating Manchu and Chinese
interests and making traditional Chinese institutions function again. The Kangxi emperor s long
reign...is the crucial period during which Manchu rule took form...With vigor and insight he faced the
fundamental difficulty of making alien rule acceptable to the Chinese elite of learning and social

The U.s. Economy Operates On A Fundamentally Capitalistic...
The U.S. economy operates on a fundamentally capitalistic reward based principle: people work, are
compensated ideally proportionately for their work, and use that compensation however they see fit to
better their own lives and the lives of those they love. Many people, in their youth, are encouraged to
build up a nest egg of sorts for use when they grow old and are no longer capable of working as much
as necessary to maintain an acceptable quality of life. However, this methodology raises an important
question: what about people who, through no fault of their own, just aren t capable of providing for
themselves? It would seem absolutely inhumane to leave them in the dust.

Security recipients [6]. Specifically, a worker s earning as subjected to a tax up to a maximum amount,
and the tax is split between the worker and the employer. This tax is implemented via the Federal
Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) and accounts for 96 percent of Social Security s revenue, with the
remaining four percent coming from taxes on benefits paid out [4]. As of 2016, the current FICA tax

Historically, Social Security has been able to run a surplus; more funds were brought in via FICA

deficit ranging between $45 and $73 million between 2010 and 2014 [6,7]. So far this has been okay;
in the years when Social Security ran a surplus, the excess money was saved into the Social Security

Notes on Pricing Strategy
Notes on Pricing Decisions
In this note, we will discuss the pricing of a given product or a service. We will only discuss the
pricing of an individual product/service and not the pricing across a set of products in a product line.
Thus in the discussion that follows, we assume that the pricing decision of the product/service under
consideration has no bearing on the profitability of other products/services in the portfolio of the firm.
1. Overview of the Pricing Decision:
While making the pricing decision, it is assumed that the product is given to us. Thus as a first step,
we eliminate all those segments/customers who will not buy the product regardless of the price that
we charge. For instance, consider the Land Rover case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This completes the overview of the pricing decisions. In what follows, we will first discuss the pricing
decision for a simple case when there is only one vertical segment. Following that, we will discuss the
pricing for the case when there is more than one vertical segment. Moreover in both cases, we will
assume that the broad horizontal segment is given to us.
2. Pricing Decision for a simple case when there is only one Vertical Segment:
The simple case of one vertical segment means that all consumers in the broad horizontal segment
have similar willingness to pay for the product under consideration. The pricing decision for this
simple case entails two steps: In step 1, we assess the the economic value to the consumer (EVC) of
the product under consideration. In step 2, we assess the willingness to pay for the product under
consideration, where the willingness to pay will be price that we will charge. The two steps are
explained as follows.
2.1 Assessing the economic value to the consumer:
One assesses the the economic value to the consumer (EVC) of a product under consideration by
understanding the reference product, the price and value of the reference product, and the difference in
the value delivered (to the buyer) by the reference product and the product under consideration. In
other words, to assess the EVC of a product under consideration, we need to have a reference product,
the price of the reference product

Paper On Generalized Anxiety Disorder
The purpose of the study done by Weinberg was to determine whether or not the presence of
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Major Depressive
Disorder (MDD) or any combination of the detailed above could contribute to variation in both the
ability to monitor errors as well as the sensitivity to error commission. The article theorizes that those
patients diagnosed with GAD or OCD would have an enhanced error related negativity (ERN) level in
comparison to the controls, but not when a diagnosis of MDD was also present. They also predicted
that those patients that suffered with MDD, however, would not differ from the controls in terms of
their ERN levels. The experiment involved psychiatric patients with ... Show more content on

participants. The participants were seated approximately two feet viewing distance and were
instructed to press the right button mouse button if the center arrow was facing to the right and press
the left button if the center arrow was facing to the left. Before the exam that was used for analysis,
participants were given a practice block containing 30 trials where they were instructed to be as quick

participants received feedback on their performance. If a participant received a score of 75% or lower,
a message of Please try to be more accurate was given. On the contrary, if the participant received
above 90% a message of Please try to respond faster was displayed. However, if a participant was
between 75% and 90%, the participant received a message that said You re doing a great job. Results

Alliteration In The Wanderer And The Wife s Lament
Alliteration is defined as the repetition of initial consonant sounds in two or more neighboring words
or syllables. It is a literary device that authors use to bring attention to certain important ideas or
concepts in stories. Alliterations allow the reader to bring their senses together to hear and feel what
they are reading by bring in sounds of the world around us into literate. This helps the reader visualize
the story, therefore helping the reader to remember it. It is used in many stories as a way to hide
metaphors and other subliminal messages. For example, alliterations with the s being the prominent
sound could be visualized as a snake slithering, making a character have a slyness about him.
Specifically in Anglo Saxon literature, alliteration is significant because it is how authors organized
their poems or stories, includes repetition which aids memorization, and emphasizes important parts of
the text that the author wants the audience to know. Alliteration in important in both The Wanderer
and The Wife s Lament because it helps evoke certain emotions and feelings by using the different
functions of alliterative language. In Anglo Saxon works of literature, alliterations are used with
stresses to organize poems and to create a certain flow. There are certain patterns that can be seen in
the lines of poems, often containing four stressed words with three of the word being alliterative and a
caesura separating the four stresses words in half. A simple example of this would be in line 94 of The
Wanderer stating, Alas bright beaker! Alas burnished warrior! The audience can almost feel the
rhythm of the poem as they read it or hear it told out loud. Having this structure in a poem also works
with the language and how it is spoken. It is hard to hear these patterns in translated versions due to
other language influences in the English we speak today. When I heard the original version of The
Wanderer spoken in Old English, the stressed words really stood out to me and the alliterative words
were clear. Listening to the mixture of the Old English language and the alliterative and stressed lines
I can feel the way the character in the stories feel. In the first few lines of The Wife s Lament

What Is The Theme Of The Green Mile By Stephen King
We often tend to only read stories that appeal to our interests. I never would have thought I would
enjoy a book written by Stephen King. His unique writing style makes stories we would usually find
gruesome and disturbing, to be interesting. In his novel, The Green Mile, King uses flashbacks,
supernatural powers, good versus evil and other important literary devices to draw the reader s
attention. This story is centered around a death row supervisor, Paul Edgecomb, and his experiences
throughout his career, especially his encounter with an unusual inmate, John Coffey. King s
description of the experiences inside Cold Mountain Penitentiary Block E are written in such a way
that makes the audience sense the emotions of the characters. This story is a very powerful, emotional,
anguish, and highly enjoyable read. Stephen King is often known for his horror theme in his novels. In
his book, The Green Mile, the theme is centered around death. This story is told in first person
narrative by Paul Edgecomb. It switches from Paul as on old man in the nursing home, to his time as
death row supervisor in the 1930s. Edgecomb tells his experience while he worked at Cold Mountain
and the effects it had on him throughout his life. He specifically tells about his encounter with a large,
black, unusual inmate, John Coffey. Coffey has been sentenced to death for a crime that he did not
commit. The young Detterick twin girls went missing and when they were found, Coffey was holding

Adenosine Triphosphate Structure
ATP is universal form of free energy in all living organisms and is an energy coupling agent
(Tymoczko et al. 2013. p. 250). When ATP is hydrolyzed to produce adenosine diphosphate (ADP)
and orthophosphate (Pi), or to adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and Pi, free energy is liberated. This
free energy can then be utilized for endergonic reactions that need an input of free energy in order to
occur. The recycling of ATP/ADP is critical to for energy exchange in living organisms.
Thermodynamically unfavorable reactions can be driven if they are coupled to ATP hydrolysis in a
new reaction.
The structure of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is composed of a three phosphate groups (in a
triphosphate unit) attached to the nucleotide adenine with two phosphoanhydride bonds. The two
phosphoanhydride bonds are formed by the loss of a water molecule (Tymoczko et al. 2013. p. 250).
ATP is formed in chemotrophs through the oxidation of carbon fuels and in photosynthetic organisms
when light energy is converted into chemical energy (Topic 4.2 The Structure and Role of ATP). ATP
has a high phosphoryl transfer potential due to its structural differences compared to ADP and Pi.
These structure differences include (1) electrostatic repulsion, (2) resonance stabilization, and (3)
stabilization due to hydration (Tymoczko et al. 2013. p. 252) At a neutral pH, ATP has four negative
charges that repel each other. However, hydrolysis of ATP reduces this electrostatic repulsion. Also,
ADP and Pi have

Pool Of Jerusalem Essay
Jerusalem was the center stage for the majority of the important events in the ministry of Jesus Christ
as documented in the Bible. One of the most notable miracles, as stated in the Gospel of John,
happened at the Pool of Siloam where Jesus cured a blind man. The pool was fed by the water from
the Gihon Spring, which is situated in the Kidron Valley. As such, the flowing water from the spring
allowed people to use the pool as a mikveh for ceremonial bathing. Also, it was utilized as a vital
source of the fresh water for the populations in that section of Jerusalem. Many religious
archaeologists searched for the site of this pool because it was believed its discovery would be a
turning point in the arena of the Biblical archaeology.

Literature, as well as the Bible, claim that the pool was located at the southern end of the City of

that reason, the article enriches the information found in scriptures because it details the exact position
of the pool. The archaeologists, Ronny Reich and Eli Shukron, identified the location of the pool as
the King s Garden toward the Tyropoeon valley. The article is also enriching because it details the
times when the pool was created and deserted. The coins containing the stamp of Alexander Jannaeus

from the age of the Great Jewish Revolt indicated that it was deserted between AD 66 and AD 70.

Respect For Authority In The Jungle Book
Respect for authority is a central theme in the Jungle Book and the guiding principle in this law
reinforces that elders are to be respected and obeyed. Akela was the ultimate authority in the jungle
and respect for him was of the utmost importance. In humans this has similar meaning, though not as
highly looked upon as in the jungle kingdom. Some humans honor those who are wiser and older, but
it is not law to do so and many do not respect elders. Jungle law is about obedience and respect, it is
clearly written in the law. Human law is complicated and complex and within it are many more
smaller laws that are less about the greater good and more about the individual person. Baloo teaches
Mowgli the laws and the language of the jungle and respect is a large part of that. A child could apply
this law by simply listening and obeying his/her parents. Just as Mowgli was taught, children must be
taught how to behave. Saying please or thank you is an example of respect that can be learned early.
Adults can apply this by taking care of an elderly parent who is having medical issues and needs
assistance. An adult child who ensured their elderly parent has their needs met and are advocated for is
an example of how this might be applies. I agree with this principle and I think it is one that used to be
practiced more. In some countries, it is law that adult children take care of their parents, but that is not
the case in the United States. I have heard stories of elderly people

Factors Affecting Customers Satisfaction in the Environment of Online Shopping
1. Abstract
Online shopping is a process of buying and selling of products and services through the Internet.
Online shopping has become the fastest growing industry and Internet users have reported that online
shopping is one of their primary uses of Internet. With the help of online shopping, the consumers can
purchase clothing, shoes, books, airline and events tickets, foods, computers hardware and so on. In

The development of internet has created a paradigm shift of the traditional way people shop. A
consumer is no longer bound to opening times for specific locations; he can become active at virtually
any time and place and purchase of products or services. The number of internet users is constantly
increasing which also signifies that online purchasing is increasing. The previous primary reason for
shopping online was price, which has now changed to convenience.
The importance of analyzing and identifying factors that influence the consumer when consumer
decides to buy on the internet is crucial Since the internet is a new medium, there have been new
demands set by the consumer. That is why it is crucial for the online retailers to know the factors
which influence the online consumer.
Internet is changing the way consumers shop and buy goods or services and has rapidly evolved into a
global phenomenon. Many companies have started using the Internet with the aim of cutting
marketing costs, thereby, reducing the price of their products and services in order to stay ahead in
highly competitive markets. Customers use the Internet not only to buy the product online, but also to
compare prices, product features and after sale service facilities, Many experts are optimistic about the
prospect of online business (Shergill and Chen, 2005).

Hi, I m Maddy Foster and this is another episode of Which Witch is Which? Today we re going to talk
about the witches, also known as the weïrd sisters, in Macbeth.
Macbeth is Shakespeare s shortest play, but arguably his darkest and most powerful creation. King
James I commissioned Shakespeare to write this play for his amusement sometime around 1606. It
deals with an array of themes including revenge, guilt, violence, insanity and also the supernatural.
Shakespeare based Macbeth mainly on an Elizabethan report of Scotland s history called Holinshed s

In fact, the witches bear a striking and obviously intentional resemblance to the fates, female
characters who weave the fabric of human lives and then cut the threads to end them. They speak in
almost chant like rhyme with paradox and equivocation, Fair is foul and foul is fair (Act 1, Scene 1,
Lines 11 12) and Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble (Act 4, Scene 1,
Lines 10 11).
At the time Macbeth was written, necromancy was feared and witches had developed into a serious
and ever present social concern. Bear in mind that those accused of witchcraft 90% of the time were
just old, poor, unprotected, single or pet owning women. Nonetheless, witches were perceived as evil,
sub human servants of the devil. Shakespeare therefore introduced the witches knowing that they
would grip an audience, as anything to do with witchcraft would create fear. In fact, Macbeth is the

The Issue Of Currency Exchange Without Considering Golds
1.1 Research Background After the outbreak of the First World War, Gold standard was greatly
weakened. The majority of the countries in the world abandoned the gold standard one after another
and paper currency in circulation came into force from then on. Subsequently, the problem of severe
inflation arose because many countries needed to make ends meet by increasing the amount of paper
money (Su and Smith, 2005). At the end of the First World War, a number of countries with floating
exchange rates began anew the quest for the stability of exchange rates. Against such a historical
background, a famous Sweden economist called Gustav Cassel put forward one theory which was
named the purchasing power parity (PPP) in order to solve the issue of currency exchange rates
between different countries (Voinea, 2013). 1.2 Research Rationale Typically, there are two major
implications of the PPP theory, one is to discuss the problem of currency exchange without
considering golds, the other is to debate the issue of exchange rates from the level of prices without
regard for the value of currencies. It is generally accepted that the rationale of PPP is the law of one
price, which could be expressed that the prices of identical products or services should be similar in
different countries when both markets are equal (Rogoff, Froot and Kim, 2001). 1.3 Research

James De The Man That Lives

James Dean: The Man That Lives On
James Dean once said, If a man can bridge the gap between life and death, I mean, if he can live on
after he s died, then maybe he was a great man. James Dean probably did not know he would be a man
that would qualify for this statement at the time it was said, but there is no doubt that he lived to
achieve it (Howlett 1). James Dean is an important American figure because he represented a powerful
character to many people, was a very popular and successful actor, and he was able to encourage a
new way of thought among a not so expressive society. Today we remember Mr.Dean as the
spontaneous character that inspired a new way of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did however have one serious relationship towards the beginning of his career. The girl s name was
Liz Sheridan and she was engaged to James. After his engagement ended, he still managed to have
countless lovers. He was even rumored to having an affair with Marilyn Monroe. His lovers ranged
from both sexes, though he never had defined himself as bisexual (James Dean). This daringness to
oppose society was one of the Dean s most famous qualities.
James Dean was able to represent a society challenging and influential individual on and off the
screen. Yes his talent itself left many in awe, but it was more of the impact he was able to have on
people s perspectives. James s characters were easy to relate to since they all represented him quite
accurately. All three of his films were a major success. These films are east of Eden, Rebel Without a
Cause, and Giant. Even with his short life, he was nominated many times and won two awards. His
nominations included two Golden Globe awards (which he won), two BAFTA awards, and two
Academy Awards. His nominations were mostly for best actor (Awards). This was most likely because
his passion for his art really showed in his films. James really was a well trained and strict actor even
though his persona gave off a more casual and relaxed vibe. James wrote in a letter to his family:

Introduction Of Freakonomics By Stephen Dubner And Steve...
As I read through the introduction of Freakonomics by Stephen J. Dubner and Steve Levitt, I m highly
dissatisfied with the way the author opens the book. Personally, I felt like it was well written, but
lacked appeal. To illustrate further, the book starts with information regarding the false predictions of
criminologists of crime rates. However, my feelings are slightly positively changed as I find the author
exposing the hidden side of everything , as he claims (which is also the theme of the book). For
example, as he bypasses the information of the sky high crime rate, he starts talking about a woman
who changed crime rates by legalizing an abortion (which is illegal at the time). Sequentially, he
explains how the crime drop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples of this would include when Mr.Dubner and Mr. Levitt relates to the reader on page
seventeen: After all, every one of us regularly passes up opportunities to maim, steal, and defraud. The
chance of going to jail thereby losing your job, your house, and your freedom, all of which are
essentially economic penalties is certainly a strong incentive. I strongly agreed with this statement due
to the fact that even thieves did not steal something everywhere they go. They have incentives, which
the author defines as a means of urging people to do more of a good thing and less of a bad thing.
Which we also all have, which just makes me more fond of the book. This all comes down to how the
parents did not have an incentive for coming to pick up their child on time. After reading that, I
thought way more about incentives, and used it in my daily vocabulary often with my twin sister.
Moreover, another new way of thinking this book caused was due to the common bonds of teachers

Vertigo Patient
I went to my practicum site twice this week. Learning is the continuous process. Seeing variety of
patient with different chief complaints is helping me learn more about various diagnosis. I had a site
visit this week. My professor followed me with two patient; one had vertigo and other had back pain. I
was nervous because I never had vertigo patient before at the practicum site. One of the suggestion
provided by my preceptor was to bring my family practice guidelines book at practicum site to help
me with my HPI. I agree with her suggestion and I plan to bring family practice guidelines book
during my clinical.
The reasons for the visits were pink eye, rash around eye, upper respiratory infection, hypertension
and thyroid follow up, vertigo, seasonal allergy, back pain, corneal abrasion, chronic sinusitis, oral
contraceptive reevaluation, worried well and nausea. I have learnt from my experience so far that not
to make any assumption about the diagnosis only by chief complaints before seeing patient. This is
because with the vertigo patient at first I thought he might have BPPV but as I started to interview
patient, I realized that he had 1 episode of vertigo. His symptoms were mainly related to cerumen

Essay on Jewish History
Jewish History
Throughout the history of the world, the Jewish people have been persecuted and oppressed because
of their religious beliefs and faith. Many groups of people have made Jews their scapegoat. Jews have
suffered from years of intolerance because people have not understood what the religion really means.
They do not understand where and why the religion began, nor the customs of it s people. For one to
understand the great hardships, triumphs, and history of the Jewish people one must open mindedly
peruse a greater knowledge of the Jewish people and faith.
In the beginning, Judaism was founded by Abraham when he began to worship a figure called Elohim.

The prophets Ezekiel and Deutero Isaiah believed that Yahweh had used the Babylonian Empire to
punish the Israelites for their sins, and he therefore had the power to redeem them from captivity if
they repented. The Babylonian exiles messianic hope for a restored Judean kingdom under the
leadership of a scion of the royal house of David seemed to have been justified when Cyrus the Great,
after conquering Babylon in 539 BC, permitted a repatriation of subject populations and a restoration
of local temples. The restored Judean commonwealth did not fully realize this hope, however, because
the Persians did not allow the reestablishment of a Judean monarchy, but only a temple state with the
high priest as its chief administrator. A truly monotheistic religion developed as the God of Israel came
to be seen as the God ruling universal history and the destiny of all nations (Rich 2). As for a common
thread throughout Judaism, the area of focus is the place associated with the religion, Jerusalem, a
place to call home. No other religion has ever been so attached to its birthplace as Judaism. Perhaps
this is because Jews have been exiled and restricted from this place for most of their history. Jerusalem
is not only home to Judaism, but to the Muslim and Christian religions, as well. Historically, this has
made it quite

A Brief Note On The European School System
European School System
European systems are intricate structures that carefully lead students on the path that compliments
their strengths. With the European tracking system, referred to as university or academic/vocational
streaming, according to Chmielewski (2014), it is the students who are tracked, not their courses
(p.293). In this system, students do not take the same classes as their peers in other tracks. The
curriculum and classes depends on the track they are on. Also, a group of studies found that for
academic/vocational tracking countries socioeconomic status (SES) is highly predictive of track
placement (Chmielewski, 2014, p. 298). A contributing factor to this notion is that fact that this type of
tracking begins when students are much younger than with course by course tracking.
Luxembourg School System
In Luxembourg, the educational structure is an intricate system that begins with students attending
primary grade cycles 1 4. According to Shiveley s resource on Luxembourgian educational system
(2016b), each cycle lasts two years and students can be held back in cycle 1 3 depending on their
performance and maturity. Once students complete cycle four, around age 10 12, they move onto
orientation cycle that is similar to the U.S. equivalence of middle school. After this, they will advance
to secondary grade cycles. Within the orientation and secondary grade cycles, students are tracked and
take differing course loads depending on their academic performance.

Exposure and Behavoiral Therapies
Final Essay
Exposure and Behavioral Therapies
December 12, 2006
In psychotherapy there are many different ways that a therapist can decide how to treat a client. In my
paper I will discuss how Exposure Therapy and Behavioral Therapy work together with a client. I will
focus on the nature of the problem, the process of change, theory in practice, multicultural
considerations, and the types of clients and clinical problems.
The Nature of the Problem: In both Exposure and Behavioral Therapy the main focus is on anxiety.
These anxieties area conditioned response (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.238 264). In Exposure
Therapy and Behavioral Therapy the client avoids situation where there will be confrontation or fear

Multicultural Considerations: Cultural differences may see exposure therapy as worse than the
disorder (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.252). Therapist should show empathy with clients instead of
using terrifying visualization scenes for the client to deal with. In Exposure therapy the therapist s
empathy is used as a more freighting scene. Trauma victims in search of sensitivity, support, and
empowerment are provided more, higher decibel pain. When there is no empathic and caring
relationship between clinician and client, psychotherapy, is not worth doing (Prochaska Norcross,
2005, p. 252). In these therapies the therapist focuses on the behavior or feared stimulus, rather than
deal with feels as much. Feelings of anxiety will be talked about while the client is going through the
process of visualization, and at the end of the visualization to rate where their anxiety is. Strengths
include a collaborative relationship between therapist and client in working toward mutually agreed
upon goals, continual assessment to determine if the techniques are suited to clients unique situation,
assisting clients in learning practical skills, an educational focus, and stress on self management
strategies (Corey. 2005, p.485). With the client and therapist on the same page about how to work
through the anxiety they can determine together would be more productive and helpful for the client.
The therapist also needs to help the client with consequences

Sea Otters Research Paper
Sea otters are a keystone species, meaning their role in their environment has a greater effect than
other species. As predators, sea otters are critical to maintaining the balance of the near shore kelp
ecosystems. Without sea otters, the undersea animals they prey on would devour the kelp forests off
the coast that provide cover and food for many other marine animals. Additionally, sea otters
indirectly help to reduce levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, a prevalent greenhouse gas, as kelp
forests play an important role in capturing carbon in coastal ecosystems

Forms Of Oppressionation Of The Holocaust
Many when discussing the events of genocide often analyze the systems of oppression used against
the targeted groups. These forms of oppression are often systemic and multilateral. When examining
the Holocaust, one of history s, and humanity s, most infamous and darkest moments, we see the
varying forms of oppression in cases such as political censorship in the form of imprisonment of those
who leaned left, economic persecution when their means and standard of living was forcibly taken
from them such as their businesses, houses, and jobs, as well as the forced relocation and deportation
to the ghettos and finally the concentration camps. Many however, do not see the effects of oppression
post genocide, as many could argue that silencing different interpretations and mediums that
memorializing genocide can actually be forms of oppression towards survivors, as their stories and
expression are not utilized when creating the holistic memory of the Holocaust.
The idea of an official narrative of the Holocaust and its memorialization is rooted more closely in its
recall of emotion than in establishing factual and divergent interpretations of experiences, this
constructive forgetting, (Christie, 2) meaning that creating a singular memory narrative of pain and
suffering is more pressing than in attempting to portray divergent and intersectional experiences
during the genocide. While this constrictive forgetting can be very successful in spreading awareness
of the genocide, it can also sometimes ostracize works of memorialization by actual survivors
representation of every victim and survivor s narrative, meaning their own purpose and experience of
the Holocaust can sometimes be sacrificed for the purpose of invoking greater emotion in order to
spread the national consciousness of the gross violations
Case in point, both works examined, Maus: A Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art
Spiegelman and film Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni offer different interpretations that diverge
from the central narrative voice used when memorializing genocide, and as such may be looked down
upon. Maus first began as a serialized comic strip, which employs and is associated with thoughts of
boyhood and adolescence

A Happy Marriage By Fawn Weaver
A Happy Marriage:
New York Times Bestselling Author, Fawn Weaver, points out that The greatest marriages are built on
teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never ending portion of love and
grace (Weaver). The quote helps give examples on what defines a happy marriage. According to the
Oxford Dictionary, the word happy is defined as feeling or showing pleasure or contentment and the
word marriage is defined in this context as The legally or formally recognized union of a man and a
woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship. The CDC s
National Center for Health Statistics reports that as of 2011 in the U.S. there were 2,118,000
marriages, with a marriage rate at 6.8 per 1,000 total population and divorce rates at 3.6 per 1,000
population. (CDC) But what actually makes a happy marriage? In order for a marriage to be a happy
one, honesty, patience, communication, love, and respect must be present from both parties. Out of
these criteria, love and respect are the two most important aspects to happiness in a marriage. All other
criteria depend on those two very basic principles being met first. Without love and respect in a union,
none of the other attributes of a happy marriage will even be able to exist. Think of marriage much
like a house, with love being the foundation, respect being the supporting frame, patience and honesty
being the windows and walls, and communication as the roof. Each

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Have you ever felt the need to wash your hands again, even though you just did so seconds earlier? Or
maybe felt intense anxiety over everyday tasks, such as sending a letter and believing you may have

the world share the same thoughts and feelings. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or more commonly
called OCD, as defined by (Obsessive, 2010), is a type of mental illness that causes repeated unwanted
thoughts. This common disorder can be found in nearly every region and culture around the world, so
even though one dealing with it may feel alone, the person sitting right beside them could easily be
suffering from something similar. According to (How Many People, 2012), their best estimates found

States suffer from some type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Also, they found that at least one
within every two hundred children and teenagers, or five hundred thousand in the United States only,

This price is something many young people are willing to pay for the possibility of great reward.
Violence in High School sports can cause injuries because there is a lack of certified trainers available,
adolescents are undevelopment and their bodies are overused, and the violence can cause lifelong

Wilderness In The Bible
As I remembered the many examples of the wilderness in the Bible I wanted to see how what they

Adam and Eve, the people of Israel, Moses, and Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, I found
common characteristics of how wilderness was understood. It was a place away from society and with
less control. People are often lost and wandering as they experience the wilderness. It is where people

Fate Versus the Will of Juno Essays
Virgil is considered the most renowned Latin poet, according to the work Divine Intervention,
Supremacy of Fate in The Aeneid. He is the writer of the epic poem The Aeneid. Virgil s epic is a
continuation of Homer s The Iliad. The Aeneid is very much like The Iliad. In The Iliad, the men and
gods are a driving power of the Trojan War, as are the men and gods a driving power of Aeneas s
journey in The Aeneid, but there is a stronger power driving Aeneas on his journey. It is the same
power to which the characters of The Iliad are subject, and that is the power of fate. In The Aeneid the
men and gods draw the battle lines. Some want Aeneas to succeed on his journey to Latium. Others
want him to fail. Still other characters are just on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unchanged, I swear... and that On [the Romans] I set no limits, space or time...I have granted them

Divine 2). Jupiter represents fate and Juno is the antagonist, comments Woodworth (115). Jupiter s and
Fate s will are the same. Continuing throughout the epic poem Jupiter will help to insure that Aeneas

According to Divine Intervention, Supremacy of Fate in The Aeneid , Aeneas s mother Venus loves
her son as much as Juno hates him (2). Venus struggles to keep Juno from harming Aeneas . Venus
worries that the Trojans will not be accepted at the city of Carthage. Before Aeneas arrives at

Queen of Carthage, fall madly in love with Aeneas. The plan works very well. Juno sees Dido s love
for Aeneas as opportunity to delay his journey to Italy ( Divine 2). According to Virgil, one day while
Dido and Aeneas are hunting in the forest, Juno summons a storm (101). Dido and Aeneas take cover
in a cave. They both sleep together while in the cave. Dido considers this a marriage (Virgil 102). Juno

Specialized Budget Analysis
In this paper we explore budgets in depth, the tools that help you make a comprehensive or a
specialized budget and why these may be necessary.
A budget can be thought of as a map towards a goal, such as retirement or saving for a particular items
such as a house or a car. Subsequently, making a budget gives us a tool to complete this goal and keep
us on track towards the end. Just as the financial planning process involves creating goals, budgets are
a means to make the goals a reality and not just a dream. (Siegel Yacht, 2009) One tool we learned
about of course is being conservative, others include the cash budget when our income is less
predictable, or a comprehensive budget which should include an operating budget and a capital
budget. Moreover, there are times a specialized budget might need to be created for a specific goal
such as a dream vacation or a tax ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other specialized budgets are generally created for a specific purpose such as a hobby or perhaps
taxes as Siegel Yacht, (2009) , explained. Moreover, these budgets are prepared with separate
expenses and perhaps even specific income set aside just for these budgets. ( Cash Budget and Other
Specialized Budgets, n.d.) The specialized budget is a part of the comprehensive budget and used to
make your dreams come true or just keep the tax man at bay as you will.
Finally, using the tools that we learned about in this chapter such as being conservative and taking the
time to create a comprehensive budget that includes a capital budget and specialized budgets as
needed, might be the ticket to buying that yacht to sail around the world just as Alice dreamed of.
Moreover, life can be unpredictable but having a good comprehensive budget can help us keep our

Human Self Deception And The Modular Mind
Wahid Murad
Professor Walker
English 110
Paper #2 assignment
16th March 2016 Human self deception and the modular mind
The model of three planes of the mind is nothing new. Sigmund Freud, the famous Austrian
psychologist was the first to make this widespread into majority of society as we know it today. Even
though his theories have from time to time been widely debated among Psychologists because they are
nearly impossible to justify scientifically, Freud nevertheless created a handy theoretical model of the
mind, which he separated into 3 tiers or sections the conscious mind or ego, the preconscious, and the
unconscious mind.
Our conscious mind is what people associate us with, as it is where most people exist and thrive daily.
The conscious mind consists of everything that we are aware of. This is the part of our psychological
processing that we can think and talk about rationally in other words this the cognitive portion.
The subconscious part of the mind, on the other hand, is in charge of our most recent memoirs, and it
is in spontaneous interaction with the resources of the mighty unconscious mind. It is the portion of
the mind that signifies regular memory. While we are not consciously aware of this information at any
given time, we can recover it and bring it into consciousness when required.
The unconscious mind is the depot of all existing memories and experiences from the past, these are
the stuff that have been bottled up through distress.. It is safe to

Burmese Python Essay
A dangerous and unwelcome predator is slithering in our very backyards here in Florida the Burmese
python. A reptile which is originally from the Southeast Asia has started to invade and spread all over
South Florida. According to the University of Florida IFAS On May 17, 2006, the first python nest
was discovered in South Florida (Harvey et al., 2016, p.5). It is currently wreaking havoc at the
Everglades National Park, including areas nearby. Due to their rapid increase in population, they are
consuming a countless number of mammals and birds, causing displacement to native species. This is
a current and ongoing problem that warrants further research to properly eradicate the Burmese
python as they pose a threat to our safety and continue to ravage the Everglades by consuming a large
number of mammals and birds. The rise and popularity of exotic pets along with irresponsible pet
owners are the main cause of this invasion (Harvey et al., 2016). One major issue they create is how
they have devoured different types of mammals and birds, which some are already endangered.
Research shows a severe mammal decline after the Burmese pythons established their place in the
Everglades. Not only that, but the Burmese pythons present dangers to humans. They can easily go

There have been numerous events which are designed to capture Burmese pythons. South Florida
Water Management District hired people to eliminate the pythons. Swisher from the Sun Sentinel
newspaper reported that hunters hired by the state have already killed 81 pythons (Swisher, 2017).
Although it is impossible to completely remove the invasive Burmese pythons, efforts to combat this
problem need to continue so the damages can be kept in minimal. Continued research will help the
community find more ways to control the growing numbers of the Burmese

Music as Propaganda in the German Reformation
Music as Propaganda in the German Reformation
The reformation was a religious and political movement that took place in the year 1517. This
movement was spread by the Cristian humanist Martin Luther, when he posted his Ninety Five Theses
. The reformation itself is one of those things everybody has heard about but no one quite understands,
even nowadays, 500 years after this movement occurred.
The main reason for this movement is unknown, however, some causes are being slowly known. First
of all, as this movement occurred in the renaissance, humanism was on the air and all the humanist
ideas were being spread, so people were thinking more rationally, thus questioning the church and its
ways of working. Also, the printing press as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lyrics of the chants were extracted from the bible only written in Latin by that time, and people
learned the lyrics and the melody, even though a vast majority of population didn t know Latin in
general.
Martin Luther took advantage of this fact, since he knew that music was a good way of spreading his
ideas because he knew that people would learn them easily. He used the cantus firmus technique
which consists in borrowing someone else s melody and place it on the tenor, replacing its lyrics and
replaced the lyrics to please his ideals. Since Luther knew that people already knew almost all the
melodies, he took benefit of this fact by making people remember only the lyrics, so he made them
easy to learn. This music also may involve parody to the original piece of music. He also translated a
big amount of music into German so people could understand them. Thanks to this, songs way of also
spreading news, because melodies were openly known.
As it is obvious, the lyrics of the songs were often altered in order to please one side or the other, and
thus those songs would have bias in one side or the other. Nevertheless, these songs were an important
form of delivery of the current events.
A few examples of cantus firmus melody O du armer Judas with replacement on the lyrics are: O jr
Munich von Pfaffen (1522), Ach du armer Murnar (c. 1523), and Ach du arger Heinze (1541) .

Iran, an Islamic nation, instructs religious leaders to promote contraception as a social duty. A
Norwegian international banker worries about migratory tensions that would engulf his nation with

Lindsay Lohan Essay
Lindsay Lohan was born on July 2, 1986. She is the oldest of 4 kids and her parents are divorced. Her
dad was not very much a part of her life growing up and to this day she does not have anything to do
with him. Lohan was a rising child star who started her acting career at the age of three. She starred in
many commercials before showcasing her fabulous acting ability when she appeared in the remake of
Parent Trap in 1998. She took a little time off after this showcase to be a normal child. After dropping
out of high school, she had a few bigger screen acting jobs and some extra shots in daytime television

(2010) P3). Finding more information about her past would be a first approach in trying to figure out
the root of her addictions and behaviors. Lindsay Lohan s behaviors are in a ray of dysfunction, on the
verge of danger. She has reached a point in her life where her actions could lead to possible suicide.
She is psychologically abnormal in her everyday life. (Pappas, 2010, P6) From the psychodynamic
perspective, Lindsay Lohan has had this need of filling a human void. She had a strong dependency of
people. It is unsure if this is because of the absence of her father, but it could very likely be a key
factor. There were no reports that Lohan s mother denied her of her needs emotionally growing up, but
Lohan stated He didn t do anything for my career, except go out and not come home at night and make
my mom and me stay up and wonder where he was and then show up three days later. So I don t think
he deserves anything. He doesn t even deserve my respect. (Current Biography, 2005 P12). Object
relation theorists say that have a strong need to have relationships with people and when they are
young and have severe problems, this can lead to abnormal development (Comer, 2011 pg. 40 top).
Because Lohan s relationship with her father consisted of her being worried according to the statement
she made in the previous paragraph, she did not get her need to have a relationship with him; therefore
she has an abnormal development. The lack of a relationship with her father

Rhetorical Devices In The Aeneid
An ancient philosophy of classical Greece, in its most basic sense, Arete means excellence of any kind
, but more specifically to the culture of the period in which it originated meant the notion of
excellence and the fulfillment of one s purpose and/or function: in other words, the act of living up to
one s full potential .
Example: Aeneas, from the Aeneid, is an example of someone who possesses the foundational aspects
of the Arete philosophy. As a Trojan leader, Aeneas respects prophecy and attempts to incorporate the
idea of his own destiny into his actions, in spite of emotional impulses that conflict with his fated
duties. His ability to accept his destined path despite his unhappiness in doing so makes him a graceful
hero and a worthy recipient of the honor and favor the gods bestow upon him. His compassion for the
sufferings of others, even in conjunction with a single minded devotion to his duty, is another aspect
of his heroism. Sympathetic to the weariness of others on the journey, he delivers speeches to his fleet
to keep the men s spirits high.
Aristeia*
A scene in the rhetorical devices of epic poetry where a hero in battle has his most excellent and
glorified points. Aristeia can be the effect of the loss of life for the protagonist.
Example 1: Book 5 of the Iliad is an example of aristeia, in which Diomedes prays to Athena for
revenge, and the goddess endows him with superhuman strength and the extraordinary power to
discern gods on the field of

Mobile Phones And Mobile Technology
In a remarkably short period of time, Cell phones and mobile technology have become omnipresent in
the day to day life in Bangladesh. People around the country are using their cell phones for a variety
of purposes, especially for calling, texting and taking pictures as well as social awareness raising,
literacy training and skill development. The rapid expansion of mobile phone network has been
accompanied by a growing emphasis on providing more cellular based services and promoting
efficiency and financial sustainability. The recent addition to the list is the mobile banking service.
Literature Review
Mobile technologies are changing economic life in rural areas of Bangladesh, where many people are
using cell phones for a range of financial transactions, such as receiving and sending money transfers.
Indeed, mobile banking is already being used by banks and mobile network operators to provide
millions of unbanked consumers in rural areas as a way to store and access money digitally. The
limited information available suggests that mobile banking is helping these people by providing access
to financial services and the ability to pay and be paid electronically sometimes for the first time in
their lives. Mobile banking allow unbanked people to use their phones as a bank account: to deposit,
withdraw and transfer money with their handset. People can also use mobile systems to pay utility
bills and pay for goods in merchant shops.
Like other developing countries, Bangladesh is

Mommy Film Techniques
In the years following his impressive film debut for I Killed My Mother (09) at the age of only
nineteen, Xavier Dolan (French Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, editor, costume designer and
producer) has withheld his space in the limelight. Between Heartbeats, Laurence Anyways, and Tom
at the Farm, Dolan, now 27, returned to the big screen again with the release of Mommy in 2014.
Tragic yet luminous, Mommy is a film of astounding violence and grief punctuated by bursts of
unmitigated glee. Diane Die Després (Anne Dorval), a widowed, tattooed, and freshly fired mother of
one, who struggles deeply when her psychotic teenage son, Steve O Connor Després (Antoine Olivier

No one before Canadian writer director Dolan has ever tried a 1:1 a risk considering the vast majority
of modern films are screened in a 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Despite the time it takes to get used to
the restrained perspective, it works beautifully in both an aesthetic and metaphoric manner. The bold
visual trick mixed with tight shot sizes allow every moment to be emotionally sincere; the audience
can avoid distractions to the left and right of the frame and look the characters right in the eye. Even in
the most calm of scenes, if there are three characters on screen, the sequence becomes that much more
powerful. The ratio forces the audience to sit front row in the suffocating unhealthiness and, like Steve
s mind, offers them no escape save for two fleeting moments when the frame expands to a standard
aspect ratio. These moments, being the two most hopeful in the film, really do help to express the
feelings of freedom that the characters experience before being but back into their cages the perfect
square perspective becoming more ironic than

The Importance Of Students In Education
While schools work on improving students academic achievement, curriculum, instructional
strategies, and interventions for struggling learners , obstacles still remain for some students in the
behavior category. About one third of students fail to learn because of behavioral issues that interfere
with their capacity to pay attention and participate in educational instruction
School administrators and teachers have become increasingly frustrated with the impact of poor
student behavior on academic achievement in their schools. Teachers continually struggle to master
classroom management strategies that are proactive, preventative, and lead to improved student
achievement but with the implementation of behavior strategies and curriculum schools can take back
the classroom distractions. Approaches aimed at improving school and classroom environmental
behavior is taking place in the form of PBIS, (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support). This
includes reducing the negative effects of disruptive or distracting behaviors and rewarding the positive
behaviors displayed by students. This strategy can enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning
will occur, both for the students demonstrating problem behaviors and for their classmates who are
following the expectations set in place as a school wide system.
In many school s classrooms are generally orderly, teacher student and student student relationships
are positive, and teaching and learning go on without major

  • 2. Environmental Problems Of Overpopulation As the population is growing upward of 7.6 billion people, the world is facing environmental hardships. Since the population is growing to an unsustainable level, this issue becomes prominent for all people. Due to the population increasing, resources such as food, water and fuel are becoming scarce. Overpopulation, defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary, is the condition of having a population so dense as to cause environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash. There are a few causes of overpopulation, such as the declining death rate, better developed medicine, a lack of family planning and immigration. There is a recent decline in death rates and an increase of birth rates, a main source of the population increase. When the population increases, so do the environmental problems it entails. In the 18th century, philosopher Thomas Malthus predicted that overpopulation would cause the Earth to be stripped of its resources. However, the world has mostly taken concern with the growing numbers and not the environmental issues. The problems that come with overpopulation include global warming, species extinction and deforestation, loss of fresh water and depletion of natural resources. Overpopulation will eventually become the world s most eminent environmental issue because the earth will not be able to sustain all of humanity. Throughout history, overpopulation has been seen as a threat by three major people. First, Thomas Malthus, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Social Work For Refugees And Asylum Seekers Social Workers have a duty, professionally and morally to support refugee children and asylum seekers. Social workers have a professional and moral duty to ensure that services are provided to those who most need it. The duty that Social workers have toward Refugees and asylum seekers, particularly children is strong but not often met. People s wellbeing is a key ideal within social work and is strongly represented within the Care Act 2014, the earlier Children s Act 2004 is also clear on the protection of children s rights in the UK. In the essay there will be a discussion on how in some areas the statute is not strong enough to allow Social Workers to work properly, but also how there needs to be changes regarding social work focus on refugees. Recently, United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) has campaigns to help reform the UK s current law on family. The law only recognises parents or spouses and civil partners as family. A child refugee may have an older sibling, or more extended family such as an uncle but they would not be allowed into the country under the Family Reunion rules. The dangers for children trying to reach family in the UK are high and it leaves them at risk of exploitation, 78% of adolescents face some form of exploitation whilst travelling the Central Mediterranean route to Europe, UNICEF (2017). Social Workers have a duty here to protest the UK s laws, and the decision of the Government not to join the EU s relocation scheme for Refugees. They did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Characteristics Of A Successful Time Period During Late... The traits that define a successful time period in late Imperial China are necessary expansion, unifying the people, and the construction of an effective and incorrupt political structure. The effects of meeting these criteria is sustained influence in following Chinese time periods both short term and long term, as other rulers will benefit from what their predecessors have accomplished, or try to imitate successful policies. As a team, the Kangxi emperor and his successor, the Yongzheng emperor, were able to achieve all of the goals for a prosperous period in Chinese history. Although it was a relatively short period, the Kangxi and Yongzheng emperor s times on the Qing throne were extremely complementary, and ultimately came together to form the most successful time period in late Imperial China. The Kangxi emperor s greatest contributions to the Qing Dynasty were his impressive military forces used to expand his lands and keep peace within them, and his ability to establish a foundation for order in those lands. The Kangxi emperor was on the throne for sixty one years, and brought expansion and a stable government to the Manchu Qing dynasty by integrating Manchu and Chinese interests and making traditional Chinese institutions function again. • 5. The U.s. Economy Operates On A Fundamentally Capitalistic... The U.S. economy operates on a fundamentally capitalistic reward based principle: people work, are compensated ideally proportionately for their work, and use that compensation however they see fit to better their own lives and the lives of those they love. Many people, in their youth, are encouraged to build up a nest egg of sorts for use when they grow old and are no longer capable of working as much as necessary to maintain an acceptable quality of life. However, this methodology raises an important question: what about people who, through no fault of their own, just aren t capable of providing for themselves? It would seem absolutely inhumane to leave them in the dust. When President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is one of the government s biggest programs, composing an estimated one fourth of government spending and 57 million people collecting benefits in June 2015 [5]. It is considered a pay as you go system where the payroll taxes paid by current workers are used to fund the benefits of current Social Security recipients [6]. Specifically, a worker s earning as subjected to a tax up to a maximum amount, and the tax is split between the worker and the employer. This tax is implemented via the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) and accounts for 96 percent of Social Security s revenue, with the remaining four percent coming from taxes on benefits paid out [4]. As of 2016, the current FICA tax rate is 12.4% total (between employee and employer) on a maximum of up to $118,500 in wages [4]. Historically, Social Security has been able to run a surplus; more funds were brought in via FICA taxes than was paid out as benefits [6]. However, since 2010, the program has been instead running a deficit ranging between $45 and $73 million between 2010 and 2014 [6,7]. So far this has been okay; in the years when Social Security ran a surplus, the excess money was saved into the Social Security Trust Funds: the overhead term for the OASI and DI Trust Funds, financial accounts managed by the Department of Treasury. • 6. Notes on Pricing Strategy Notes on Pricing Decisions In this note, we will discuss the pricing of a given product or a service. We will only discuss the pricing of an individual product/service and not the pricing across a set of products in a product line. Thus in the discussion that follows, we assume that the pricing decision of the product/service under consideration has no bearing on the profitability of other products/services in the portfolio of the firm. 1. Overview of the Pricing Decision: While making the pricing decision, it is assumed that the product is given to us. Thus as a first step, we eliminate all those segments/customers who will not buy the product regardless of the price that we charge. For instance, consider the Land Rover case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This completes the overview of the pricing decisions. In what follows, we will first discuss the pricing decision for a simple case when there is only one vertical segment. Following that, we will discuss the pricing for the case when there is more than one vertical segment. Moreover in both cases, we will assume that the broad horizontal segment is given to us. 2. Pricing Decision for a simple case when there is only one Vertical Segment: The simple case of one vertical segment means that all consumers in the broad horizontal segment have similar willingness to pay for the product under consideration. The pricing decision for this simple case entails two steps: In step 1, we assess the the economic value to the consumer (EVC) of the product under consideration. In step 2, we assess the willingness to pay for the product under consideration, where the willingness to pay will be price that we will charge. The two steps are explained as follows. 2.1 Assessing the economic value to the consumer: One assesses the the economic value to the consumer (EVC) of a product under consideration by understanding the reference product, the price and value of the reference product, and the difference in the value delivered (to the buyer) by the reference product and the product under consideration. In other words, to assess the EVC of a product under consideration, we need to have a reference product, the price of the reference product ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Paper On Generalized Anxiety Disorder The purpose of the study done by Weinberg was to determine whether or not the presence of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) or any combination of the detailed above could contribute to variation in both the ability to monitor errors as well as the sensitivity to error commission. The article theorizes that those patients diagnosed with GAD or OCD would have an enhanced error related negativity (ERN) level in comparison to the controls, but not when a diagnosis of MDD was also present. • 8. Alliteration In The Wanderer And The Wife s Lament Alliteration is defined as the repetition of initial consonant sounds in two or more neighboring words or syllables. It is a literary device that authors use to bring attention to certain important ideas or concepts in stories. Alliterations allow the reader to bring their senses together to hear and feel what they are reading by bring in sounds of the world around us into literate. This helps the reader visualize the story, therefore helping the reader to remember it. It is used in many stories as a way to hide metaphors and other subliminal messages. For example, alliterations with the s being the prominent sound could be visualized as a snake slithering, making a character have a slyness about him. Specifically in Anglo Saxon literature, alliteration is significant because it is how authors organized their poems or stories, includes repetition which aids memorization, and emphasizes important parts of the text that the author wants the audience to know. Alliteration in important in both The Wanderer and The Wife s Lament because it helps evoke certain emotions and feelings by using the different functions of alliterative language. In Anglo Saxon works of literature, alliterations are used with stresses to organize poems and to create a certain flow. There are certain patterns that can be seen in the lines of poems, often containing four stressed words with three of the word being alliterative and a caesura separating the four stresses words in half. A simple example of this would be in line 94 of The Wanderer stating, Alas bright beaker! Alas burnished warrior! The audience can almost feel the rhythm of the poem as they read it or hear it told out loud. Having this structure in a poem also works with the language and how it is spoken. It is hard to hear these patterns in translated versions due to other language influences in the English we speak today. When I heard the original version of The Wanderer spoken in Old English, the stressed words really stood out to me and the alliterative words were clear. Listening to the mixture of the Old English language and the alliterative and stressed lines I can feel the way the character in the stories feel. In the first few lines of The Wife s Lament ... His unique writing style makes stories we would usually find gruesome and disturbing, to be interesting. In his novel, The Green Mile, King uses flashbacks, supernatural powers, good versus evil and other important literary devices to draw the reader s attention. This story is centered around a death row supervisor, Paul Edgecomb, and his experiences throughout his career, especially his encounter with an unusual inmate, John Coffey. King s description of the experiences inside Cold Mountain Penitentiary Block E are written in such a way that makes the audience sense the emotions of the characters. This story is a very powerful, emotional, anguish, and highly enjoyable read. Stephen King is often known for his horror theme in his novels. In his book, The Green Mile, the theme is centered around death. This story is told in first person narrative by Paul Edgecomb. It switches from Paul as on old man in the nursing home, to his time as death row supervisor in the 1930s. • 10. Adenosine Triphosphate Structure ATP is universal form of free energy in all living organisms and is an energy coupling agent (Tymoczko et al. 2013. p. 250). When ATP is hydrolyzed to produce adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and orthophosphate (Pi), or to adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and Pi, free energy is liberated. This free energy can then be utilized for endergonic reactions that need an input of free energy in order to occur. The recycling of ATP/ADP is critical to for energy exchange in living organisms. Thermodynamically unfavorable reactions can be driven if they are coupled to ATP hydrolysis in a new reaction. The structure of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is composed of a three phosphate groups (in a triphosphate unit) attached to the nucleotide adenine with two phosphoanhydride bonds. The two phosphoanhydride bonds are formed by the loss of a water molecule (Tymoczko et al. 2013. p. 250). ATP is formed in chemotrophs through the oxidation of carbon fuels and in photosynthetic organisms when light energy is converted into chemical energy (Topic 4.2 The Structure and Role of ATP). ATP has a high phosphoryl transfer potential due to its structural differences compared to ADP and Pi. These structure differences include (1) electrostatic repulsion, (2) resonance stabilization, and (3) stabilization due to hydration (Tymoczko et al. 2013. p. 252) At a neutral pH, ATP has four negative charges that repel each other. However, hydrolysis of ATP reduces this electrostatic repulsion. Also, ADP and Pi have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most notable miracles, as stated in the Gospel of John, happened at the Pool of Siloam where Jesus cured a blind man. The pool was fed by the water from the Gihon Spring, which is situated in the Kidron Valley. As such, the flowing water from the spring allowed people to use the pool as a mikveh for ceremonial bathing. Also, it was utilized as a vital source of the fresh water for the populations in that section of Jerusalem. Many religious archaeologists searched for the site of this pool because it was believed its discovery would be a turning point in the arena of the Biblical archaeology. Even though the Jewish Literature, as well as the Bible, claim that the pool was located at the southern end of the City of David, which is the Biblical Jerusalem, its exact location after it was abandoned was not known. For that reason, the article enriches the information found in scriptures because it details the exact position of the pool. The archaeologists, Ronny Reich and Eli Shukron, identified the location of the pool as the King s Garden toward the Tyropoeon valley. The article is also enriching because it details the times when the pool was created and deserted. The coins containing the stamp of Alexander Jannaeus indicated that the pool might have been built between 103 BC and 76 BC while the additional coins from the age of the Great Jewish Revolt indicated that it was deserted between AD 66 and AD 70. • 13. Respect For Authority In The Jungle Book Respect for authority is a central theme in the Jungle Book and the guiding principle in this law reinforces that elders are to be respected and obeyed. Akela was the ultimate authority in the jungle and respect for him was of the utmost importance. In humans this has similar meaning, though not as highly looked upon as in the jungle kingdom. Some humans honor those who are wiser and older, but it is not law to do so and many do not respect elders. Jungle law is about obedience and respect, it is clearly written in the law. Human law is complicated and complex and within it are many more smaller laws that are less about the greater good and more about the individual person. Baloo teaches Mowgli the laws and the language of the jungle and respect is a large part of that. A child could apply this law by simply listening and obeying his/her parents. Just as Mowgli was taught, children must be taught how to behave. Saying please or thank you is an example of respect that can be learned early. Adults can apply this by taking care of an elderly parent who is having medical issues and needs assistance. An adult child who ensured their elderly parent has their needs met and are advocated for is an example of how this might be applies. I agree with this principle and I think it is one that used to be practiced more. In some countries, it is law that adult children take care of their parents, but that is not the case in the United States. I have heard stories of elderly people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Witches In Macbeth Essay Hi, I m Maddy Foster and this is another episode of Which Witch is Which? Today we re going to talk about the witches, also known as the weïrd sisters, in Macbeth. Macbeth is Shakespeare s shortest play, but arguably his darkest and most powerful creation. King James I commissioned Shakespeare to write this play for his amusement sometime around 1606. It deals with an array of themes including revenge, guilt, violence, insanity and also the supernatural. Shakespeare based Macbeth mainly on an Elizabethan report of Scotland s history called Holinshed s Chronicles , written by popular a historian at the time pictured here, but also referred to a few other sources. Macbeth features an interesting hybrid cast between the natural and supernatural. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the witches bear a striking and obviously intentional resemblance to the fates, female characters who weave the fabric of human lives and then cut the threads to end them. They speak in almost chant like rhyme with paradox and equivocation, Fair is foul and foul is fair (Act 1, Scene 1, Lines 11 12) and Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble (Act 4, Scene 1, Lines 10 11). At the time Macbeth was written, necromancy was feared and witches had developed into a serious and ever present social concern. Bear in mind that those accused of witchcraft 90% of the time were just old, poor, unprotected, single or pet owning women. Nonetheless, witches were perceived as evil, sub human servants of the devil. Shakespeare therefore introduced the witches knowing that they would grip an audience, as anything to do with witchcraft would create fear. • 16. The Issue Of Currency Exchange Without Considering Golds 1.1 Research Background After the outbreak of the First World War, Gold standard was greatly weakened. The majority of the countries in the world abandoned the gold standard one after another and paper currency in circulation came into force from then on. Subsequently, the problem of severe inflation arose because many countries needed to make ends meet by increasing the amount of paper money (Su and Smith, 2005). At the end of the First World War, a number of countries with floating exchange rates began anew the quest for the stability of exchange rates. Against such a historical background, a famous Sweden economist called Gustav Cassel put forward one theory which was named the purchasing power parity (PPP) in order to solve the issue of currency exchange rates between different countries (Voinea, 2013). 1.2 Research Rationale Typically, there are two major implications of the PPP theory, one is to discuss the problem of currency exchange without considering golds, the other is to debate the issue of exchange rates from the level of prices without regard for the value of currencies. It is generally accepted that the rationale of PPP is the law of one price, which could be expressed that the prices of identical products or services should be similar in different countries when both markets are equal (Rogoff, Froot and Kim, 2001). 1.3 Research Question The project attempts to study the major question, namely whether or not the absolute purchasing power parity (APPP) and ... His nominations were mostly for best actor (Awards). This was most likely because his passion for his art really showed in his films. • 19. Introduction Of Freakonomics By Stephen Dubner And Steve... As I read through the introduction of Freakonomics by Stephen J. Dubner and Steve Levitt, I m highly dissatisfied with the way the author opens the book. Personally, I felt like it was well written, but lacked appeal. To illustrate further, the book starts with information regarding the false predictions of criminologists of crime rates. However, my feelings are slightly positively changed as I find the author exposing the hidden side of everything , as he claims (which is also the theme of the book). For example, as he bypasses the information of the sky high crime rate, he starts talking about a woman who changed crime rates by legalizing an abortion (which is illegal at the time). The chance of going to jail thereby losing your job, your house, and your freedom, all of which are essentially economic penalties is certainly a strong incentive. I strongly agreed with this statement due to the fact that even thieves did not steal something everywhere they go. They have incentives, which the author defines as a means of urging people to do more of a good thing and less of a bad thing. Which we also all have, which just makes me more fond of the book. This all comes down to how the parents did not have an incentive for coming to pick up their child on time. After reading that, I thought way more about incentives, and used it in my daily vocabulary often with my twin sister. Moreover, another new way of thinking this book caused was due to the common bonds of teachers and sumo wrestlers, making me compare things that should would not be naturally paired up. With the European tracking system, referred to as university or academic/vocational streaming, according to Chmielewski (2014), it is the students who are tracked, not their courses (p.293). In this system, students do not take the same classes as their peers in other tracks. The curriculum and classes depends on the track they are on. Also, a group of studies found that for academic/vocational tracking countries socioeconomic status (SES) is highly predictive of track placement (Chmielewski, 2014, p. 298). A contributing factor to this notion is that fact that this type of tracking begins when students are much younger than with course by course tracking. Luxembourg School System In Luxembourg, the educational structure is an intricate system that begins with students attending primary grade cycles 1 4. According to Shiveley s resource on Luxembourgian educational system (2016b), each cycle lasts two years and students can be held back in cycle 1 3 depending on their performance and maturity. Once students complete cycle four, around age 10 12, they move onto orientation cycle that is similar to the U.S. equivalence of middle school. After this, they will advance to secondary grade cycles. • 27. Forms Of Oppressionation Of The Holocaust Many when discussing the events of genocide often analyze the systems of oppression used against the targeted groups. These forms of oppression are often systemic and multilateral. When examining the Holocaust, one of history s, and humanity s, most infamous and darkest moments, we see the varying forms of oppression in cases such as political censorship in the form of imprisonment of those who leaned left, economic persecution when their means and standard of living was forcibly taken from them such as their businesses, houses, and jobs, as well as the forced relocation and deportation to the ghettos and finally the concentration camps. Many however, do not see the effects of oppression post genocide, as many could argue that silencing different interpretations and mediums that memorializing genocide can actually be forms of oppression towards survivors, as their stories and expression are not utilized when creating the holistic memory of the Holocaust. The idea of an official narrative of the Holocaust and its memorialization is rooted more closely in its recall of emotion than in establishing factual and divergent interpretations of experiences, this constructive forgetting, (Christie, 2) meaning that creating a singular memory narrative of pain and suffering is more pressing than in attempting to portray divergent and intersectional experiences during the genocide. While this constrictive forgetting can be very successful in spreading awareness of the genocide, it can also sometimes ostracize works of memorialization by actual survivors representation of every victim and survivor s narrative, meaning their own purpose and experience of the Holocaust can sometimes be sacrificed for the purpose of invoking greater emotion in order to spread the national consciousness of the gross violations Case in point, both works examined, Maus: A Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman and film Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni offer different interpretations that diverge from the central narrative voice used when memorializing genocide, and as such may be looked down upon. • 34. Wilderness In The Bible As I remembered the many examples of the wilderness in the Bible I wanted to see how what they have in common could to serve to define what it meant to be in the wilderness. From the stories of Adam and Eve, the people of Israel, Moses, and Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, I found common characteristics of how wilderness was understood. It was a place away from society and with less control. People are often lost and wandering as they experience the wilderness. It is where people go to be tested or punished and people often feel disconnected from God. It is also the place in the New Testament where mentally ill people dwell. But for all of its negativity, the wilderness is not all bad. It is where we find miracles and some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It felt natural to use Tom Long and approach the text in a then vs now mindset. The problem in the text is that John is working in the wilderness, a place of uncertainty and often challenge. The solution then is that Jesus seeks out John in the wilderness and makes his presence known. The problem we have today is that we are in Advent but are experiencing a range of emotions similar to the diversity the wilderness can bring. Our solution today is knowing that Christ is near in Advent and that He will still reach us in our joy or in our pain. For the structure, I decided with: problem now, problem then, solution then, solution now. I always prefer to begin the sermon with what is relevant in today s world in hope of getting people s attention early. I also like to end with the solution for the present day as that gives the best chance of the audience leaving with the good news at the top of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Fate Versus the Will of Juno Essays Virgil is considered the most renowned Latin poet, according to the work Divine Intervention, Supremacy of Fate in The Aeneid. He is the writer of the epic poem The Aeneid. Virgil s epic is a continuation of Homer s The Iliad. The Aeneid is very much like The Iliad. In The Iliad, the men and gods are a driving power of the Trojan War, as are the men and gods a driving power of Aeneas s journey in The Aeneid, but there is a stronger power driving Aeneas on his journey. It is the same power to which the characters of The Iliad are subject, and that is the power of fate. In The Aeneid the men and gods draw the battle lines. So the god of the gods has spoken that fate will prevail ( Divine 2). Jupiter represents fate and Juno is the antagonist, comments Woodworth (115). Jupiter s and Fate s will are the same. Continuing throughout the epic poem Jupiter will help to insure that Aeneas fulfills his destiny (Woodson 115). According to Divine Intervention, Supremacy of Fate in The Aeneid , Aeneas s mother Venus loves her son as much as Juno hates him (2). Venus struggles to keep Juno from harming Aeneas . Venus worries that the Trojans will not be accepted at the city of Carthage. Before Aeneas arrives at Carthage, Venus sends the god of love, Cupid, into the city. Cupid is told to use his gifts to make Dido, Queen of Carthage, fall madly in love with Aeneas. The plan works very well. Juno sees Dido s love for Aeneas as opportunity to delay his journey to Italy ( Divine 2). According to Virgil, one day while Dido and Aeneas are hunting in the forest, Juno summons a storm (101). Dido and Aeneas take cover in a cave. They both sleep together while in the cave. Dido considers this a marriage (Virgil 102). Juno now hopes Aeneas will not leave Carthage. • 38. Specialized Budget Analysis In this paper we explore budgets in depth, the tools that help you make a comprehensive or a specialized budget and why these may be necessary. A budget can be thought of as a map towards a goal, such as retirement or saving for a particular items such as a house or a car. Subsequently, making a budget gives us a tool to complete this goal and keep us on track towards the end. Just as the financial planning process involves creating goals, budgets are a means to make the goals a reality and not just a dream. (Siegel Yacht, 2009) One tool we learned about of course is being conservative, others include the cash budget when our income is less predictable, or a comprehensive budget which should include an operating budget and a capital budget. The specialized budget is a part of the comprehensive budget and used to make your dreams come true or just keep the tax man at bay as you will. • 39. Human Self Deception And The Modular Mind Wahid Murad Professor Walker English 110 Paper #2 assignment 16th March 2016 Human self deception and the modular mind The model of three planes of the mind is nothing new. Sigmund Freud, the famous Austrian psychologist was the first to make this widespread into majority of society as we know it today. Even though his theories have from time to time been widely debated among Psychologists because they are nearly impossible to justify scientifically, Freud nevertheless created a handy theoretical model of the mind, which he separated into 3 tiers or sections the conscious mind or ego, the preconscious, and the unconscious mind. Our conscious mind is what people associate us with, as it is where most people exist and thrive daily. The conscious mind consists of everything that we are aware of. This is the part of our psychological processing that we can think and talk about rationally in other words this the cognitive portion. The subconscious part of the mind, on the other hand, is in charge of our most recent memoirs, and it is in spontaneous interaction with the resources of the mighty unconscious mind. It is the portion of the mind that signifies regular memory. While we are not consciously aware of this information at any given time, we can recover it and bring it into consciousness when required. The unconscious mind is the depot of all existing memories and experiences from the past, these are the stuff that have been bottled up through distress.. It is safe to ... This is a current and ongoing problem that warrants further research to properly eradicate the Burmese python as they pose a threat to our safety and continue to ravage the Everglades by consuming a large number of mammals and birds. The rise and popularity of exotic pets along with irresponsible pet owners are the main cause of this invasion (Harvey et al., 2016). He used the cantus firmus technique which consists in borrowing someone else s melody and place it on the tenor, replacing its lyrics and replaced the lyrics to please his ideals. Since Luther knew that people already knew almost all the melodies, he took benefit of this fact by making people remember only the lyrics, so he made them easy to learn. She is psychologically abnormal in her everyday life. (Pappas, 2010, P6) From the psychodynamic perspective, Lindsay Lohan has had this need of filling a human void. She had a strong dependency of people. It is unsure if this is because of the absence of her father, but it could very likely be a key factor. There were no reports that Lohan s mother denied her of her needs emotionally growing up, but Lohan stated He didn t do anything for my career, except go out and not come home at night and make my mom and me stay up and wonder where he was and then show up three days later. Example: Aeneas, from the Aeneid, is an example of someone who possesses the foundational aspects of the Arete philosophy. As a Trojan leader, Aeneas respects prophecy and attempts to incorporate the idea of his own destiny into his actions, in spite of emotional impulses that conflict with his fated duties. His ability to accept his destined path despite his unhappiness in doing so makes him a graceful hero and a worthy recipient of the honor and favor the gods bestow upon him.
