Fried Green Tomatoes Book Report
Going back and forth between the mid 1980s to the 1920s, Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg
weaves a tale as old as time where true friendship takes a front seat. A highly visual book, Flagg is
able to create tableaus that are visceral, evoking emotions like paint strokes on a page.
The main story, set in the mid 1980s, revolves around character Evelyn Couch, whose unsuccessful
weekly visits to a nursing home to see her mother in law. Being accompanied by her husband does
nothing to assuage the situation. But the visits aren t for naught. In the waiting room, safely away from
her mother in law, Evelyn meets Ninny Threadgoode, another resident of the same home.
Week by week, Ninny begins to tell Evelyn stories from her life growing up in Whistle Stop in the
1920s, which is the second time period that frames the book. As the novel advances, Ninny and
Evelyn develop a lasting friendship. Ninny s stories do much to teach Evelyn life lessons that begin
transforming her present life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Microsoft Monopoly Essay
The Microsoft Monopoly
I. Introduction
United States vs. Microsoft is one the largest, most controversial antitrust lawsuits in American
history. Many claim the government is wrongly punishing Microsoft for being innovative and
successful, arguing that Windows dominates the market because of the product s popularity, not
because of malpractice by the parent company. Others argue in favor of the government, claiming that
Microsoft s practices conflict with the free market ideal. There are many arguments for both sides of
the lawsuit, but what the case really comes down to is this: does the government have the right to
interfere in today s marketplace? Or is Microsoft violating laws that are rightfully imposed by the
government? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the 1980 s, it became the pre eminent operating systems of personal computers, until
another operating system, DR DOS, was released by a company called Digital Research. Critics claim
that this operating system never had a chance at gaining a fair share of the market because Microsoft
deliberately slowed DR DOS s sales by announcing a better version of MS DOS was on its way
(Newman).
Windows, a program that was created in 1983, but did not change the market significantly until 1990,
has grown to control 94.1% of the operating system market (Newman). This has required other
companies in the software industry to make all of their applications Windows compatible. Critics
claim that Microsoft systematically eliminated all competition of other operating systems and software
manufacturers. Microsoft also controls a large part of the software industry. According to sales from
April 2002, Microsoft sold 89% of office software to consumers (Washington Post). Microsoft
bundles these applications with the Windows operating system, which is, according to them, an
effective technique. Critics assert that this forces other makers of office software, like Corel, to lose
business, because consumers will not buy another application if one is already pre installed. Critics
point to the proposed 1995 merger between Microsoft and Inuit which ultimately failed. Inuit is the
maker of the best selling money management

Future of an Illusion by Sigmund Freud Essay
Future of an Illusion by Sigmund Freud
In his book Future of an Illusion, Sigmund Freud utilizes his method of psychoanalysis on religion by
comparing the relationship between human and religion to that of a child and his parents. Freud
effectively demonstrates that religion is a product of the human mind. After exposing religion as a an
illusion, Freud concludes that humanity will be better off when it has forgone religion. This paper will
argue that Freud s assertion that religion is an illusion is correct because of it s blatantly traceable
evolution through the history of the human civilization and psyche.
The first argument that Freud makes in his assault on religion regards civilization. Freud argues that

Freud illuminates with slight sarcasm how convenient religion is in it s ability to rectify all the trials
and tribulations of life for us. Everything that happens in this world is an expression of the intentions
of an intelligence superior to us, which in the end, though its ways and byways are difficult to follow,
orders everything for the best. (Freud, 23) The existence of this divine creature who creates justice for
us ensures that the masses will not stray from the laws and beliefs of religion and society for fear of
being judged by this entity. Religion is also valuable to civilization for it s ability to explain death.
Thanks to religion, death became something other than simply the termination of a life. Death stopped
being the end and was recasted into the role of a doorway to another existence. As though knowing
that the continuation of life were not enough, religion furthers it s own appeal by promising that the
afterlife will be better than life on Earth. The afterlife itself also serves a function as well. A desire to
gain entry into this afterlife will cause many of the masses to renounce their instincts.
Another argument Freud makes is how religion is an attempt to fill in the gaps where civilization and
the pursuit of life cannot make individuals happy. The urge to rectify the shortcomings of civilization
which made themselves painfully felt is fulfilled by religion. (Freud,

The next risk that emergency responders will encounter when responding to the scene of a terrorist
attack is the risk of structural instability. Structural instability can occur in buildings after a bombing
or fire and something more significant, such as when the planes were used in the World Trade Center
attacks. When a building s structure and integrity have been compromised, first responders may not
realize the extent of the damage while rescuing the injured, consequently leading to the building
collapsing on emergency personnel after they enter. After the attacks on the World Trade Center, the
collapse of the towers ended with over 400 emergency responders being killed (Thompson, et al.,

These types of airborne particles could lead to many health risks especially to first responders that are
at the scene of the attack. In order to protect emergency responders when responding to the scene of a
terrorist attack, emergency personnel should use masks to protect against these airborne particles.
While addressing the risk that first responders will encounter when arriving on the scene of a terrorist
attack, it is also important to discuss the lasting mental effects that emergency personnel will deal with
after the incident is finished. One concern would be that of the mental health of the first responders
because studies have shown that many of the emergency personnel that responded to the attacks on the
World Trade Center Towers in 2001 suffered from depression, post traumatic stress disorder, and panic
disorders following the attacks (Thompson, et al., 2014). One study conducted following the
September 11 attacks determined that rescue and recovery workers demonstrated a cumulative
incidence of depression of 27.5 percent, post traumatic stress disorder in 31.9, percent, and panic
disorder in 21.1 percent of the rescue and recovery workers that participated in the study (Wisnivesky,
et. al, 2011). This is an astounding number of rescue workers that had to deal with the lasting mental
effects from the scene of the World Trade Center attacks. Some of the rescue workers may not have

Music Analysis of Hakuna Matata Essay
The end of a semester is the most stressful time for students because of those dreaded finals. Anyone
who lived through the 1990s should know the song a young lion and his pals sang after meeting for
the first time. However, as the years pass by, society forgets the simple pleasures of youth and the two
words that can make all troubles go away. Hakuna Matata was a song written by Tim Rice with music
by Elton John. This song is also a story about a warthog before he discovered this amazing expression.
However, the biggest part of the song is about being carefree and forgetting any troubles that may
arise. As finals approach, a student needs to revisit their childhood past and recall the wonderful
phrase:
Timon Hakuna Matata! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters that teach and sing the song, Timon and Pumbaa, are supposed to represent a simpler,
easier, and more relaxed way of life. The song is only five lines being used repetitively. This helps
emphasize the theme.
Pumbaa, the warthog, shows that before he learned about Hakuna Matata he was miserable. The
second section of the song shows how embarrassed he really was: Timon He found his aroma lacked a
certain appeal, He could clear the savanna after every meal (The Lion King).
This warthog had things rough, he was always in pain. Pumbaa And it hurt when my friends never
stood downwind. (The Lion King). But of course, if you were in an aromatically challenged position
like Pumbaa s, how would you feel? He was discouraged:
Pumbaa And oh, the shame Timon He was ashamed Pumbaa Thought of changing my name Timon
What s in a name? Pumbaa And I got dishearted Timon How did ya feel? Pumbaa Every time that I...

He was about to expel gaseous fumes, but decided against it. Now, a person should not necessarily use
farting as a way to alleviate the stress of finals, though for some it might work. A person should think
of Hakuna Matata when the stress of finals begins to set in. After all, teachers will prepare their
students for the test and will generally score about the same as the

The Boy On The Wooden Box
Surviving The War Could you ever picture yourself being in one of the World Wars? Well, neither did
Leon Leyson. I chose the novel The Boy On The Wooden Box for my independent reading project.
The book is about a young boy surviving through a killer war. Leon was a Holocaust survivor and the
youngest boy on Schindler s List. Leon wrote the book The Boy On The Wooden Box in 2013, with
the help of Marilyn J. Harran and Elisabeth B. Leyson, sixty four years after Leon arrived in the
United States. World War Two affected millions of people and it is very important that stories from the
war are shared.
In the beginning of the war Leon and his family lived in Kraków, Poland. Leon had four siblings, their
names were: Hershel, Tsalig, David, and Pesza. Leon came from a jewish family, which would not
work in their favor during the Holocaust. Once the war started Leon and his family were transferred
into the ghetto. The ghetto was a fenced in minature town, that was made by the Germans and was
placed in the center of Kraków. All of the Jews were forced to live in the ghetto. After the war Pesza
and David moved to Czechoslovakia, Israel, while Leon and his parents immigrated to America. Leon
and his parents spent years in a United Nations relief organization camp in Germany while waiting to
go to America. The camp was for Jews who were trying to make it to the United States, after the war
ended. At the camp Leon changed his name from Leib Lejzon to the American

Comparing James and Jung s Perspectives on Religious...
1. Are the perspectives on religious experience presented in William James Varieties and in Jung
compatible? Briefly explain and compare them.
For William James, his perspective on religious experience was skeptical. He divided religion between
institutional religion and personal religion. For institutional religion he made reference to the religious
group or organization that plays a critical part in the culture of a society. Personal religion he defined
as when an individual has a mystical experience which can occur regardless of the culture. James was
more focused on the personal religious experience, the feelings, acts, and experiences of individual
men in their solitude, so far as they apprehend themselves to stand in ... Show more content on

Central to Jung s process of finding one s innate potential was the idea of the numinous. This is
characterized by the power or presence of a divinity. This was closely related to the idea of
synchronicity, which is when two or more events that seem to be unrelated occur together in a
meaningful way, and would be unlikely to occur by chance.
Jung s idea of experiences of synchronicity included the presence of archetypes. An archetype is an
ideal example or model person that others copy or base their actions upon. Jung had archetypes such
as the animus, the anima, and the shadow. The animus is expressed as a masculine inner personality in
females, while the anima is expressed as a feminine inner personality in males. The shadow archetype
consists of repressed shortcomings, weaknesses, and instincts. These archetypes are of the collective
unconscious, and not based on people in their daily lives.
While there are some similarities between James and Jung s views on religious experience, there is
also a great deal of opposing views. James was focused on the mystic experience of religion as a
personal one and was not in favor of organized religion. Jung on the other hand, studied many
organized religions and believed that an institutional setting was beneficial in finding one s innate
potential. Clearly, they both believed that there was a definite psychological factor in religion, but
James had a personal psychological

Dillard Reflection
The moth shook its sodden clumps of wing (Dillard 160). A quote as powerful as this one captures the
depth of Dillard s views, which have a crippling effect on her outlook towards life. Dillard s
environment is similar to that of the moth s, a limited amount of space to grow and prosper. Growth is
a factor Dillard sees as extremely important in life, as she tries to learn a vast amount of information.
Dillard has experiences in her memoir that mold who she is and what she has become. In many ways,
I too reflect on similar experiences that mold who I am and what I have become overtime. Dillard and
I experience a crippling environment and a pursuit to try and learn everything. As a child, Dillard is
aware of her own open mindedness and perceptive abilities. A special memory that sticks out to her
most is when she sees a Polyphemus moth crippled by a glass jar too small. Dillard compares this
moth in a crippling environment to her own life in Pittsburgh, which is far too small. Pittsburgh is
unable to hold the dreams that Dillard has. Normal dreams of girls of wealth in Pittsburgh are
marrying the elite boys, who will go on to run the big companies in Pittsburgh. These big company
boys do not interest Dillard, she has a dream to explore and use her knowledge for something bigger.
A moment like this is a crucial turning point in Dillard s life because it represents an image for her to
look at. This moth, described as a deformed creature, is impactful because the moth walks

Impact Of The Spanish Empires On The Aztecs
Aliki Daviotis
Paper #2
December 2nd, 2017
Extending along the valley of Mexico, with Tenochtitlan as its capital; the Aztec Empire resided. The
Aztecs had significant wealth from trading and heavy payments of tribute from the conquered natives.
From the years 1200 1520, the Aztecs prospered and expanded their empire immensely. However, all
of this was going to change when the Spanish landed on the Yucatan Peninsula in 1519. Following
Christopher Columbus foundation of permanent settlement in the Caribbean, the Spanish were seeking
conquest, expedition and colonization of new territory. Although there were multiple factors that
contributed to the remarkable victory by the Spanish in the sixteenth century such as religion; it was
the indigenous alliances, technological superiority, and disease that was most impactful. The Spanish
conquistadors were not your typical farmers or craftsmen they were soldiers, travelers, and
mercenaries in search of wealth. In their quests for fortune and land, they invaded and enslaved native
communities and looted gold, silver, and other treasures that were up for grabs. The two prosperous
conquests were those of the Aztec empire in Mexico by Hernan Cortes and the Inca empire in Peru by
Francisco Pizarro. They both had unpretentious forces that were far outnumbered by the warriors of
the empires they conquered. A vital element of their success was their progressed weaponry and
durable armor. Spanish conquistadors

Greek Influence On Italy
Italy is a nation that is present in southern Europe on the Mediterranean Sea. It is also known for its
cultural heritage and for its most famous architectural achievements. However, Italy is also considered
by many historians as one of the most sly and mysterious country in World War I. Many would
remember major powers such as Great Britain, Germany, and Russia, however, these small countries
contribute to major battles and events in history. Moreover, Italy infamously went from being a neutral
country to being a victim of war. Likewise, Italy has been in the same situation as Belgium in which
they follow a policy of neutrality but in the end are influenced by other countries to join the war. Italy

Whether in times of Renaissance or when the Roman Empire began to flourish, Italy had remained
loyal to their culture. The culture of italy had originated from Greece which, no one had outdone them
until the reign of the Roman Empire. The culture of Greece had such a major impact that it can be
seen centuries later. Primarily, this can be authenticated as seen in the religion aspect in World War I.
Italy s main religion is catholicism which comprised ¾ of the population while the ¼ of the people
were cast out and were forgotten. The religion of Catholicism has been present since ancient times and
is still present today. Furthermore, Italy s culture was so great and extraordinary because their culture
was very unique unlike any other nation. As a result, many civilizations and nations had been greatly
influenced almost to the point of assimilation. Such unique aspects can be observed in their art. Artists
like Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Raphael, and Michelangelo are one of the many influential artists
in the world. Their famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa, The Scream, Starry Night, and The
Creation of Adam have been so successful that they are the most recognizable pieces of art today.
Furthermore, artists of italy have been known to be very adroit at creating fascinating sculptures like
The Statue of David and The Madonna of Humility. However, music and drama had the same degree
of influence just as art had on its people and other nations. Music has been known to play a major role
in society since the beginning of the Middle Ages. For example, Andrea Amati who had lived from the
ages of 1500 until 1577, laid the basis of violin making. The art of drama had originated in Greece but
it was culturally diffused into the empire of Rome. It s main

Business Strategy Of Nandos
Section 1: Strategy and Sustainability: The Expression of Organizational Values and Vision
Introduction For this Business Strategy Report, I have selected a restaurant chain named Nando s. It
was established in 1987 by two friends, Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin (Nando s.com, 2017).
Although being a South African brand it has Portuguese influence and the restaurant chain depicts
these designs. Nando s specialty is flame grilled chicken spiced with their unique selection of
marinade sauces and spices ranging from mild to extra hot and for those individuals not into the hot
stuff, there s a lemon and herb option. It also has other selected food options to choose from in their
attractive menu. Its niche market is working middle class male and female customers who enjoy spicy
food and casual dining. It also caters for kids and families. Analysis of Nando s For a business to be
successful and have a competitive advantage, it is important to evaluate the company s resources and
capabilities (Pitt Koufopoulos, 2012). Resources in a company are the productive assets owned

Special Needs Kids Are Not Sick Or Gross
Special needs kids are not sick or gross. They only want to be accepted. They want to feel normal.
They cannot help the way they were born. People who have never dealt with special needs children do
not see what they go through on a daily basis. One out of every 10 children under the age of 14 has
some type of special need. Which includes any medical disability, chronic or life threatening illness.
The children and parents both deal with emotional battles. The parents are more tired emotionally and
physically then a parent without a special need kid.. They feel alone, because raising a special needs
kid is very challenging and takes a lot more effort. They are scared because they do not know what the
future holds. Organizations like CEIP give kids and parents more hope. They give them something
positive to look forward to. The Cumberland Early Invention Program is a very supportive program. It
is good to know there are still non profit companies out there that are genuinely non profit . Some
companies/programs claim to be non profit but they still have their hand in the cookie jar. The other
companies claim to use a certain amount in other areas. In which, they never state exactly what other
areas. The Cumberland Early Invention Program puts 100% back into the company while individuals
are volunteering 100%. So in other words, the Cumberland Early Invention Program is actually for

One is of the opinion that firms should choose one of the generic strategies and commit all resources

The Theory Of Management As A Science
Management as a science
Science is the process of getting things done in correct order. It is the way of coordinating and
gathering information s of day to day knowledge, and used knowledge to formulate rules, law of
principles. In National Humanities Centre (2005, P. 2)
As per Weber, (1975) bosses of nineteenth and twentieth century saw no requirement for social
fulfillment on occupation. In office and shop, their posted approaches every now and again prohibit
mingling , unmoving tattle, or conspiratorial meeting. Experimental administration master exhorted
chiefs to regard individuals as individual piece rate motivating force pay to urge every worker to

Under experimental administration the activity of laborer (that is, their work, their positive attitude,

conceivable under the old framework; and notwithstanding the change with respect to the men, the
director expects new weights, new obligations, and obligations never longed for before. The director

Negative Effects Of Mass Media
The Negative Effects of Mass Media Mass media surrounds the lives of our global society. Dating
back to centuries, the media is prominent through the modes of television, internet, and paper press.
Media is the main means of mass communication in the twenty first century, and is the central source
of information for the general public. A new form of media, social media, has gained popularity in
recent years. The First social media platform was born in 1997 with the launch of the first social
media site, Six Degrees, a site meant to connect people worldwide. By the year 2000, nearly one
hundred million people gained access to the internet, which resulted in more people becoming active
on social media sites. Six Degrees worked as a foundation for other social media like: myspace,
facebook, twitter, instagram, and snapchat. Mass media negatively impacts students, politics, and
incites racial tensions in society today. Media today is faulty and brainwashes students. A study found
that, If the children are the future, the future might be very ill informed (Domonoske). Domonoske
claims that the news feeds untrue and biased information to students; these students of today s society
will grow up to be the future. It is imperative that students receive true and reputable information from
the media. If they are not now, well informed, then a society filled with uneducated individuals will

The Ethical Dimension Of The Demise Of Enron Corporation
This paper explores the ethical dimension of the demise of Enron Corporation an reflection of author,
placed in hypothetical situations. Accounting Fraud and Management philosophy will be the main
discussion topics, along with the motivations of fraud. The fall of Enron can be directly attributed to a
violation of ethical standards in business. This makes Enron unique in corporate history for the same
actions that made Enron on of the fastest growing and most profitable corporations, at the turn of the
21st century, also bout about its destruction. This paper does not explore legal consequences, only the
ethical dimension of Enron s actions. Enron Corporation: Ethics Case Study and Personal Reflection
Capitalism is an amoral system that follows protocol of mechanical laws of supply and demand. Over
the course of two centuries our country has tried to introduce ethics and morality into economic
constructs. Anti trust, labor laws, and regulation have been our attempts to introduce an ethical
element into an otherwise unfeeling system of exchange. The reason, an attempt to reduce damage that
is possible by the manipulation of capitalism. And to not only to create an even playing field but
keeping the field from reverting back to being occupied by serfs. Corporations offer many benefits to
society, increased supply of goods, tax revenue, jobs...etc. They can also cause damage as in the case
of Enron Corporation.

Sue Matt For F Shore Accident Falls Under The Australian...
Scott s intention to sue Matt for the off shore accident falls under the Australian Law of Torts. Derived
from an old French vocabulary, the term tort refers to a wrongful act. It is paramount for Scott to
understand that tort is very different from a regular crime. Whereas an individual suffers from injury
due to an act of another person and the court can present a redress in a tort, in a crime, the wrong is
perceived to target the entire community and the courts are required to follow the prevailing criminal
law to offer requisite punishment to the person who is being accused of criminal liability. A person
who is perceived to cause harm to another individual due to negligence, is perceived to have
committed a tort of negligence. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scott must successfully establish that the three elements that constitute a tort were inherent in the
circumstances that led to his injury. The three elements are the existence of a duty to take care of his
safety and interests by the boat owner; Matt s breach of such duty of care and the possible
quantification of damages that are due to him due to the harm or injuries caused by the breach of duty
by Mr. Matt. It is these three elements that distinguish negligence from carelessness. The duty of care
that Scott would be required to ascertain before the courts for a successful suit were first described by
Lord Atkin in Donoghue v. Stevenson 1932 AC 562. While presiding over the case and in a majority
ruling, Lord Atkin states that a duty to use ordinary care and skill arises in circumstances where the
conduct of another might put others in danger. Reasonable care must be taken in particular
circumstances to avoid omissions or acts that can be reasonably foreseen to as likely causes of harm or
injury to another person. Whenever a person is engaged in actions whose outcomes he or she can
reasonably foresee will likely to cause harm or injury to another person, a duty of care is then owed to
that other person. Two tests must therefore be met to ascertain the existence of a duty of care from
Matt determination of proximity and foreseeability of the circumstances that led to Scott s injuries.

My Own Creative Process And Transformative Experiences...
This paper intends to describe the application of my own creative process and transformative
experiences during the stages of work from creation to completion of an original body of sculptural
artwork. Secondarily, providing analysis and interpretation of the relationship to the theories of
creativity that have been studied throughout this course. I will be using the concept of self awareness
found in Maslow s hierarchy of needs (Runco, 2014) and the concept of self observation as a form of
measurement and as the primary research method. The result of this concentration aims to demonstrate
the generation and connection of new knowledge that deepened my understanding of creativity in the
context of the person, process, place, and product.
There are many definitions, from many people of what creativity is and what it is not. It only seems
logical to start with my own definition for a sequential frame of reference. I believe that creativity is
having vision and exercising cognitive processes that when combined with personality traits,
influential experiences, environments, and learned skillsets generate original ideas by an individual.
That is a synthesis of three of the five creativity research paradigms: person, process, and place,
summarized in Creativity: Theories and Themes: Research, Development, and Practice. (Runco et.al,
2014) This is my vision. Before starting this course, I had been thinking about the possibility of
creating sculptures that intertwine art with

Gladiator Facts
Introductory Gladiator truth or fiction? For my essay I have chosen to do Gladiator. Gladiator is a
movie that was portrayed at the time of 180 AD in Rome. At this time the leader of Rome was Marcus
Aurelius, but is soon met with the termination of his reign and his son Lucius Aurelius Commodus
takes his place. Commodus was a well known gladiator before and during his time of Emperor. His
father, Marcus Aurelius was a great philosopher as well as a military tactician. The main character is
Maximus Decimus Meridius who is fictional character used in the film to create this all around hero
type character. Furthermore, some even suggest Maximus is a character made from a mixture of a

Theorems Of A Penalty Kick
Now, how do these two theorems help in analysing a penalty shootout?
Let us first see what a penalty kick is? When do players receive a penalty kick?
Penalty kick is a direct free kick that is taken from the penalty spot which is 12 yards from the goal.
Only the goalkeeper is allowed to stand between the player taking the penalty kick and the goal. All
other players need to stand behind the penalty taker. Penalty kicks are performed during normal play.
They are awarded when a foul that is punishable by a direct free kick is committed within the
offending player s own penalty area. Similar kicks are made in a penalty shootout in major
international tournaments such as the World Cup to determine which team is victorious after a drawn
match.

net and the goalkeeper tries to stop it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the goalkeeper dives after the striker has kicked the ball, he cannot actually wait to the ball
comes off the foot to decide which way to dive because the ball moves so fast, it will already be
behind him by the time he finishes his dive. So the goalkeeper must pick his strategy before observing
any relevant information from the striker.
This type of game is actually very common. Both players pick a side. One player wants to match sides
(the goalie), while the other wants to mismatch (the striker). That is, from the striker s perspective, the
goalkeeper wants to dive left when the striker kicks left and dive right when the striker kicks right; the
striker wants to kick left when the goalie dives right and kick right when the goalie dives left. The
same case happens in basketball where a shooter wants a defender to break the wrong way to give him
an open lane to the basket, while the defender wants to stay lined up with the ball

American Hip Hop
1. Similar to the hip hop scene in the United States and many other places around the globe, Japan has
a very vibrant hip hop community. It is amazing to see how a genre that was created on the other side
of the planet make its way to Japan, and how they have put their own spin on the genre. They remake
and appropriate it in their recording studios, and in doing so they highlight the various aspects of
Japanese culture in hip hop. The Japanese artists were devoted to the black culture that was evident in
American hip hop, but the B Boys, as their referred to in Japan, found a way to fuse the samurai with
the thug imagery and American rap. Authentic Japanese hip hop is defined by the underground artists,

While the genre in Japan is tailored to stay true to their roots by taking the traditional route, there still
is music made predominantly for the club and for that the general public wants to hear. The party rap
scene is depicted by a more playful approach, and is intended to accommodate the female listener first
before anyone else. This is because there is not that much female rappers, as it is a male dominated
industry. Even though these rappers manipulate their language to make the rhymes work, we still find
it difficult for females to create a niche in the industry. The majority of the lyrics are about sex, drugs
and money as well as the Japanese education system as well as the different wars occurring across the
globe. We see that many young Japanese women are emulating American Hip Hop culture out of
appreciation for its ideals. In no way at all are they mocking the culture, but I would not believe for an
instant that Japanese people know what it means to be black due to the great culture gap between
Japan and America. A lot of the women wear the clothes that say, Black is Beautiful but are unable to
even explain what the statement means. Not only women but also everyone is attracted to the genre
due to artists expressing themselves through their appearance, as hip hop culture is about style. The
club hip hop scene definitely is embodied by appearance and this is a form of rap that is specifically
catered to the American female

Safe Port Act Of 2006
SAFE Port Act of 2006 Terrorism has been one of the major concerns of the entire world; however,
the incident of 9/11 entirely changed the perception of governments towards the issue of terrorism. In
this regard, the United States of America has significantly improvised its approach towards dealing
with terrorism. The approach of the U.S. is also justifiable as the United States is the only country that
had to face the maximum ramifications caused by terrorism as thousands of people have lost their
lives in multiple terrorist acts. Moreover, the U.S. has also tolerated the loss of billions of dollars in
the shape of loss of capital, and investing in improved military and intelligence services. Despite of all
these efforts, the U.S. has always felt the threat of terrorist activities; based on this fact, the
government and legislature of the United States of America has enacted many acts of Congress to
ensure the security of the residents, capital, and assets of the country. Out of various strategies to make
United States a safer country, the Security and Accountability for Every (SAFE) Port Act in
considered the most imperative yet debated topic among the politicians as well as the public of the
U.S.
Introduction of Safe Port Act of 2006 The basic purpose of the Act was to control all the ongoing
activities of every single port of United States to ensure the safety of United States from the threats of
terrorist activities. President Bush signed the Act on 13 October 2006.

The aim of the Constitution was to unify, this meant that non natives and immigrants would be
considered equal in the eyes of the law. The term, believer, frequently used in the document was not
exclusive to Muslims, the articles clarify that a protected believer could be from a different faith so
long as they agree to the terms of the Constitution. It is important to note that some Muslim countries
today would actually be in violation of the Constitution seeing as they do believe in a hierarchical

Nursing Diagnoses And Its Effects On The United States
Our client, Ertha Williams is a 99 year old female who lives alone in a low income apartment complex
on the second floor in Monroe, Michigan. Ertha suffers from chronic kidney disease and has a history
of hypertension and type one diabetes. Due to her chronic kidney disease Ertha has regular scheduled
dialysis appointments three times a week, but since the death of her son and husband and her inability
to drive it is difficult for Ertha to get to her dialysis appointments. She also has difficulties preparing
the multiple medication she is required to take to manage her hypertension and diabetes. After her last
dialysis appointment the nurse reported that Ertha appeared frail and emaciated. Ertha herself also
stated that she worries about financial issues frequently and has good and bad days occasionally.
Based on these findings Ertha is in need of some assistance to help alleviate some of the problems and
stresses she is undergoing. Several nursing diagnoses can be established based on Ertha s current
situation and through these diagnoses it will be easier to establish what kind of services Ertha will
need from the surrounding community of Monroe and what types of barriers she might encounter in
attempting to access these services.
Ertha s most prominent issues are her inability to get to her prescribed dialysis appointments three
times a week and the difficulties she has in preparing her medications. Based on this evidence a

Native Underachievement in Canadian Schools Essay
Native Underachievement in Canadian Schools
A comparison of native students and their non native peers quickly brings one to the realization that

is vital that native Canadians address this issue thoroughly, to insure that the nation is no longer faced

white schools to be irrelevant with regards to the traditional native lifestyle. It is apparent that to many
degrees, cultural assimilation through education did not work for a variety of reasons. Although early
native students were culturally displaced in white schools, they continued to take tremendous pride in
their heritage. It was impossible for the early aboriginal student to apply anything learned in these
early schools to anything he had previously experienced. Subjects taught in residential schools did not
generally interest the native student. Native indifference to early formal education can be found. One

Low Income Inequality
The notion of fairness is often the underlying basis in legitimizing the concept of taxing the rich more
than low income individuals. However, the very idea of fairness would assume that one gets paid
accordingly to what they produce for society, given their abilities, yet the current tax system based on
margins, opposes this very idea. More specifically, creating higher tax brackets for wealthy people
only creates an absence or lack of incentives for the poor to work because they are funded by such
taxes, just as the rich are no longer incentivized to produce more outputs in fear of these higher taxes.

Use Of Dynamic Second Price Auctions
The popular use of dynamic second price auctions such as Ebay seem to be the favoured output for
Internet based online transactions, and have triggered a wide interest in understanding how individuals
behave in such environments. Online auctions are services in which individuals sell or bid for
products or facilities via the internet. They facilitate interactions between buyers and sellers in
different locations and allow for individuals to purchase items from the comfort of their own homes.
However, such interactions can lead to psychological and physiological responses that trigger

The volumes of research on the endowment effect have all been based on cases where the seller has
unambiguous physical or legal possession of the item in question. In connecting ownership and its
effects on valuations with online bidding behavior, it is possible that even without a legal claim on an
item, high bidders could develop a feeling of ownership during the period of time when they are the
highest bidders, leading to changes in valuation similar to those brought about by true ownership The
use of pictures allows bidders to fantasize about owning the product, and makes it appear more real
especially when they are lead bidder. Having a money back guarantee increases the trust between
consumer and seller which can then influence bidding behaviour. This guarantee can decrease
inhibitions in the buyers which means that it is more likely bids will increase in amount due to the
ability to send the item back. This may cause bidders to extend their intended maximum bid in order
to win the item, rather than thinking about the consequences of bidding higher amounts at the time.
Certification of product ensures that the explicit risk of buying an item over the internet is reduced,
which could therefore lead to consumers bidding more. Indirect quality indicators include the use of a
minimum bid and a Buy It Now price which may reveal information about the quality of the product

With my written task I would like to explore one of the parts of the book of which the narrator does
not talk about. Those who will be mentioned in this gap will be two of the main characters: Jordan
Baker and Jay Gatsby.
Being a fill the gap kind of writing piece the text type is gonna be a short story.
The reason why I chose to fill this gap is due the empty feeling who got triggered in me making me
feel incomplete and unfulfilled while reading the chapter.
Even though the writer does explain what happened while Jordan talked with Gatsby, I felt compelled
to write something about it anyway.
Intended for people like me, my writing aims to ordinary readers, such as students or anyone who
reads for pleasure.

Well, it was. You ll understand once I will tell you the reason why you are here at the moment, my
dear. he quickly said, as if that was the answer he was waiting for.

A Research Study At Ohio State University
5 Leadership Running Head Leadership Two large studies found that two types of leader behaviors
were important concepts in leadership skills. While the two separate studies used different terms, they
can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at Ohio State University
identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such as respect and trust concern
for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing, scheduling and seeing that work is
completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of Michigan identified these two behaviors
(Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching employees with a strong human relations
orientation concern for people. Production Orientation stressing the technical and production aspect of
the job concern for tasks. The researchers from Michigan State thought of these two behaviors at
opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a leader could be strong with one of these two behaviors,
but would be weaker in the opposite one (Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies viewed these two
behaviors as distinct and independent. That is, a leader could be high or low in one or both behaviors.
For example, in the U. S. Army one of the most important rules is to take care of your soldiers and
complete the mission task; a leader should be good with both. Bad leaders can do neither, nor do just
one but not the other (Joyce, 2012). The notion that just two dimensions

The Best Traits and Limitations of Eric Carle Essay
It was a recent trip to the Kohl s Department Store in Springhill, TN that declared what children s
author would be the best fit for writing a paper that addresses the best traits and limitations of such a
person. Kohl s Department Stores are currently featuring and selling four of award winning children s
author and illustrator Eric Carle s books and plush animals in support of their program Kohl s Cares,
which gives 100 percent of their profit to support health and education initiatives in communities all
over the nation. The books The Mixed Up Chameleon, The Hungry Caterpillar, The Foolish Tortoise,
and The Grouchy Ladybug, and plush chameleons, caterpillars, tortoises, and ladybugs can be

Stetooden (2009) reveals that it is possibly Eric Carle s childhood that has provoked the sensational
books illustrated and written by him. Carle s family left New York after living there six years to return
to his parents home of Germany. It was in Germany where Carle s father was drafted into the German
Army and then not seen for eight years as he became a prisoner in Russia. The years of war and time
without his father took toil on the author/illustrator. A frail father eventually returned, and Carle had to
rely on his early memories of his father to encourage him and even give him artistic inspiration. Carle
recalls one such memory that has inspired many of his books involving nature as he related that he and
his father used to go for long walks in the countryside together, and he would peel back tree bark to
show me what was underneath it, lift rocks to reveal the insects. As a result, I have an abiding love and
affection for small insignificant animals ( Eric ). With his creativity and inner child, Carle who is now
in his eighties has illustrated over 70 books, and he also wrote many of these books. His creativity
does not end with books; his other interests lie in painting, sculpture, printmaking, as well as furniture
and building design (Beneduce, p. 428). Eric Carle s illustrations and books remain and continue to be
famous not only in the United States but worldwide because they are creative and full of

The Perspective That Influenced My Life
Everyone s perspectives have been influenced by their experiences. Every so often a grand occurrence
influences one s life in an impactful way, while other times it is the little instances that influence your
life the most. I know that I have definitely been influenced by innumerable occurrences, but one
perspective stands out more than others. My perspective is unlike the majority of others. This is from
the perspective of a girl who has four loving parents. Some kids may find it difficult to deal with four
parents, but for me it is comforting. Having multiple parents, I receive more support with everything I
undertake. For example, it is not just my mother and father supporting my decision to attend Lenape
for Culinary but also my step mother and step father. So, as you can tell I acquire an abundance
amount of support. Although people may be under the impression that it would be more difficult to
receive permission when wanting to do something, in my instance, it is actually better to get more
perspectives. Growing up, my father told me no to a large amount of activities that I wanted to do.
Now I m allowed to do more after school activities, as well as spend more time with friends. I live
with my father and step mother. My step mother is my biggest inspiration. She is the person that I look
up to. If I traveled between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will try to exceed these expectations, no matter how demanding they are. I know that I will have
more realistic expectations from my father and my step mother since I have lived with them the
longest. I also know that I have a large amount of expectations due to the fact that my parents want me
to excel. My parents love me and are just trying to prepare me for the future. I also know that if in the
future, I am having any problems, I can rely on my parents for support. I know that my parents will
help me no matter what I do or how often I fight with

Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Bianca Barreto
Texas Tech University Abstract
In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the
opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in
language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field.
Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing screen
with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right side of the
plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the words was
recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between males and females.
In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the right side being
significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater differences between visual
fields when compared to females. These findings suggest that the right hemisphere is more selective in
word processing and that males are more lateralized than females. Cerebral Isolation Using Word
Processing Insufficient information is known about how words are processed by the brain. Within the
scientific community, the brain is believed to be lateralized (Tucha, Aschenbrenner, Lange, 2000). In
this case, the left hemisphere controls the right side of the body and the

Comparison Of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Movie Vs Book
Some people say movies are the way to the heart, but have you ever read a book? Books are way more
descriptive than movies because they add so many more important details. Movies are not as
descriptive because they try squishing an eleven hour reading into a two hour screening. Finally,
movies always leave out important scenes and characters. On the other hand movies are pretty cool
because they do have some pretty creative images that you would have never imagined before. The
book version of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief is better than the movie version because the book
includes characters like Ares, Cerberus, and the Three Kindly Ones. The first important character to
the story is Ares for many reasons. First reason is he stole Hades s ... Show more content on

Cerberus is a super nice dog that is super cute. He is also the creature who guards the entrance to the
underworld. Finally, Cerberus loves Annabeth, is her friend, and obeys her commands. Even though
he is a cool character, he is not the most important to the storyline. He still adds detail to the storyline
though, because he guards the underworld so people who aren t supposed to be in the underworld get
in. As you can see, Cerberus is an important character to the story. Finally the Three Kindly Ones are
important to the story for a variety of reasons. First, one of them is Mrs. Dodds his old Pre Algebra
teacher. Second, they won t stop trying to kill Percy Jackson. Finally, after they get killed they come
back to life. They aren t as important as other characters because they didn t even hurt Percy once.
That shows they are in the story but not necessarily important to the storyline, but they are still fun to
read about. Ms. Dodds is the only one that is very important to the storyline, that s why she is in the
movie too. However, they do work for Hades and he wants them to get the helm for him. Even though
they didn t hurt Percy they still scared him and attacked many times, which makes the book more
interesting. That s why the Three Kindly Ones make the book more

A highly visual book, Flagg is able to create tableaus that are visceral, evoking emotions like paint strokes on a page. Being accompanied by her husband does nothing to assuage the situation. But the visits aren t for naught. In the waiting room, safely away from her mother in law, Evelyn meets Ninny Threadgoode, another resident of the same home. Week by week, Ninny begins to tell Evelyn stories from her life growing up in Whistle Stop in the 1920s, which is the second time period that frames the book. • 4. The Microsoft Monopoly Essay The Microsoft Monopoly I. Introduction United States vs. Microsoft is one the largest, most controversial antitrust lawsuits in American history. Many claim the government is wrongly punishing Microsoft for being innovative and successful, arguing that Windows dominates the market because of the product s popularity, not because of malpractice by the parent company. Others argue in favor of the government, claiming that Microsoft s practices conflict with the free market ideal. There are many arguments for both sides of the lawsuit, but what the case really comes down to is this: does the government have the right to interfere in today s marketplace? Or is Microsoft violating laws that are rightfully imposed by the government? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Critics claim that this operating system never had a chance at gaining a fair share of the market because Microsoft deliberately slowed DR DOS s sales by announcing a better version of MS DOS was on its way (Newman). Windows, a program that was created in 1983, but did not change the market significantly until 1990, has grown to control 94.1% of the operating system market (Newman). This has required other companies in the software industry to make all of their applications Windows compatible. Critics claim that Microsoft systematically eliminated all competition of other operating systems and software manufacturers. Microsoft also controls a large part of the software industry. According to sales from April 2002, Microsoft sold 89% of office software to consumers (Washington Post). Microsoft bundles these applications with the Windows operating system, which is, according to them, an effective technique. Critics assert that this forces other makers of office software, like Corel, to lose business, because consumers will not buy another application if one is already pre installed. Critics point to the proposed 1995 merger between Microsoft and Inuit which ultimately failed. Inuit is the maker of the best selling money management ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Future of an Illusion by Sigmund Freud Essay Future of an Illusion by Sigmund Freud In his book Future of an Illusion, Sigmund Freud utilizes his method of psychoanalysis on religion by comparing the relationship between human and religion to that of a child and his parents. Freud effectively demonstrates that religion is a product of the human mind. After exposing religion as a an illusion, Freud concludes that humanity will be better off when it has forgone religion. This paper will argue that Freud s assertion that religion is an illusion is correct because of it s blatantly traceable evolution through the history of the human civilization and psyche. The first argument that Freud makes in his assault on religion regards civilization. Freud argues that human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freud illuminates with slight sarcasm how convenient religion is in it s ability to rectify all the trials and tribulations of life for us. Everything that happens in this world is an expression of the intentions of an intelligence superior to us, which in the end, though its ways and byways are difficult to follow, orders everything for the best. (Freud, 23) The existence of this divine creature who creates justice for us ensures that the masses will not stray from the laws and beliefs of religion and society for fear of being judged by this entity. Religion is also valuable to civilization for it s ability to explain death. Thanks to religion, death became something other than simply the termination of a life. Death stopped being the end and was recasted into the role of a doorway to another existence. As though knowing that the continuation of life were not enough, religion furthers it s own appeal by promising that the afterlife will be better than life on Earth. The afterlife itself also serves a function as well. A desire to gain entry into this afterlife will cause many of the masses to renounce their instincts. Another argument Freud makes is how religion is an attempt to fill in the gaps where civilization and the pursuit of life cannot make individuals happy. The urge to rectify the shortcomings of civilization which made themselves painfully felt is fulfilled by religion. (Freud, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Structural instability can occur in buildings after a bombing or fire and something more significant, such as when the planes were used in the World Trade Center attacks. When a building s structure and integrity have been compromised, first responders may not realize the extent of the damage while rescuing the injured, consequently leading to the building collapsing on emergency personnel after they enter. In order to protect emergency responders when responding to the scene of a terrorist attack, emergency personnel should use masks to protect against these airborne particles. While addressing the risk that first responders will encounter when arriving on the scene of a terrorist attack, it is also important to discuss the lasting mental effects that emergency personnel will deal with after the incident is finished. One concern would be that of the mental health of the first responders because studies have shown that many of the emergency personnel that responded to the attacks on the World Trade Center Towers in 2001 suffered from depression, post traumatic stress disorder, and panic disorders following the attacks (Thompson, et al., 2014). One study conducted following the September 11 attacks determined that rescue and recovery workers demonstrated a cumulative incidence of depression of 27.5 percent, post traumatic stress disorder in 31.9, percent, and panic disorder in 21.1 percent of the rescue and recovery workers that participated in the study (Wisnivesky, et. al, 2011). Anyone who lived through the 1990s should know the song a young lion and his pals sang after meeting for the first time. However, as the years pass by, society forgets the simple pleasures of youth and the two words that can make all troubles go away. Hakuna Matata was a song written by Tim Rice with music by Elton John. This song is also a story about a warthog before he discovered this amazing expression. The characters that teach and sing the song, Timon and Pumbaa, are supposed to represent a simpler, easier, and more relaxed way of life. The song is only five lines being used repetitively. This helps emphasize the theme. Pumbaa, the warthog, shows that before he learned about Hakuna Matata he was miserable. The second section of the song shows how embarrassed he really was: Timon He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal, He could clear the savanna after every meal (The Lion King). This warthog had things rough, he was always in pain. Pumbaa And it hurt when my friends never stood downwind. (The Lion King). Briefly explain and compare them. For William James, his perspective on religious experience was skeptical. He divided religion between institutional religion and personal religion. For institutional religion he made reference to the religious group or organization that plays a critical part in the culture of a society. Personal religion he defined as when an individual has a mystical experience which can occur regardless of the culture. James was more focused on the personal religious experience, the feelings, acts, and experiences of individual men in their solitude, so far as they apprehend themselves to stand in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Central to Jung s process of finding one s innate potential was the idea of the numinous. This is characterized by the power or presence of a divinity. This was closely related to the idea of synchronicity, which is when two or more events that seem to be unrelated occur together in a meaningful way, and would be unlikely to occur by chance. Jung s idea of experiences of synchronicity included the presence of archetypes. An archetype is an ideal example or model person that others copy or base their actions upon. Jung had archetypes such as the animus, the anima, and the shadow. The animus is expressed as a masculine inner personality in females, while the anima is expressed as a feminine inner personality in males. The shadow archetype consists of repressed shortcomings, weaknesses, and instincts. These archetypes are of the collective unconscious, and not based on people in their daily lives. While there are some similarities between James and Jung s views on religious experience, there is also a great deal of opposing views. James was focused on the mystic experience of religion as a personal one and was not in favor of organized religion. Jung on the other hand, studied many organized religions and believed that an institutional setting was beneficial in finding one s innate potential. Clearly, they both believed that there was a definite psychological factor in religion, but James had a personal psychological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Sue Matt For F Shore Accident Falls Under The Australian... Scott s intention to sue Matt for the off shore accident falls under the Australian Law of Torts. Derived from an old French vocabulary, the term tort refers to a wrongful act. It is paramount for Scott to understand that tort is very different from a regular crime. Whereas an individual suffers from injury due to an act of another person and the court can present a redress in a tort, in a crime, the wrong is perceived to target the entire community and the courts are required to follow the prevailing criminal law to offer requisite punishment to the person who is being accused of criminal liability. Scott must successfully establish that the three elements that constitute a tort were inherent in the circumstances that led to his injury. The three elements are the existence of a duty to take care of his safety and interests by the boat owner; Matt s breach of such duty of care and the possible quantification of damages that are due to him due to the harm or injuries caused by the breach of duty by Mr. Matt. It is these three elements that distinguish negligence from carelessness. The duty of care that Scott would be required to ascertain before the courts for a successful suit were first described by Lord Atkin in Donoghue v. Stevenson 1932 AC 562. While presiding over the case and in a majority ruling, Lord Atkin states that a duty to use ordinary care and skill arises in circumstances where the conduct of another might put others in danger. Reasonable care must be taken in particular circumstances to avoid omissions or acts that can be reasonably foreseen to as likely causes of harm or injury to another person. Whenever a person is engaged in actions whose outcomes he or she can reasonably foresee will likely to cause harm or injury to another person, a duty of care is then owed to that other person. Two tests must therefore be met to ascertain the existence of a duty of care from Matt determination of proximity and foreseeability of the circumstances that led to Scott s injuries. This paper intends to describe the application of my own creative process and transformative experiences during the stages of work from creation to completion of an original body of sculptural artwork. Secondarily, providing analysis and interpretation of the relationship to the theories of creativity that have been studied throughout this course. I will be using the concept of self awareness found in Maslow s hierarchy of needs (Runco, 2014) and the concept of self observation as a form of measurement and as the primary research method. The result of this concentration aims to demonstrate the generation and connection of new knowledge that deepened my understanding of creativity in the context of the person, process, place, and product. There are many definitions, from many people of what creativity is and what it is not. It only seems logical to start with my own definition for a sequential frame of reference. I believe that creativity is having vision and exercising cognitive processes that when combined with personality traits, influential experiences, environments, and learned skillsets generate original ideas by an individual. That is a synthesis of three of the five creativity research paradigms: person, process, and place, summarized in Creativity: Theories and Themes: Research, Development, and Practice. • 26. Theorems Of A Penalty Kick Now, how do these two theorems help in analysing a penalty shootout? Let us first see what a penalty kick is? When do players receive a penalty kick? Penalty kick is a direct free kick that is taken from the penalty spot which is 12 yards from the goal. Only the goalkeeper is allowed to stand between the player taking the penalty kick and the goal. All other players need to stand behind the penalty taker. Penalty kicks are performed during normal play. They are awarded when a foul that is punishable by a direct free kick is committed within the offending player s own penalty area. Similar kicks are made in a penalty shootout in major international tournaments such as the World Cup to determine which team is victorious after a drawn match. One player wants to match sides (the goalie), while the other wants to mismatch (the striker). That is, from the striker s perspective, the goalkeeper wants to dive left when the striker kicks left and dive right when the striker kicks right; the striker wants to kick left when the goalie dives right and kick right when the goalie dives left. It is amazing to see how a genre that was created on the other side of the planet make its way to Japan, and how they have put their own spin on the genre. They remake and appropriate it in their recording studios, and in doing so they highlight the various aspects of Japanese culture in hip hop. The Japanese artists were devoted to the black culture that was evident in American hip hop, but the B Boys, as their referred to in Japan, found a way to fuse the samurai with the thug imagery and American rap. This is because there is not that much female rappers, as it is a male dominated industry. While the two separate studies used different terms, they can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at Ohio State University identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such as respect and trust concern for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing, scheduling and seeing that work is completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of Michigan identified these two behaviors (Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching employees with a strong human relations orientation concern for people. Production Orientation stressing the technical and production aspect of the job concern for tasks. The researchers from Michigan State thought of these two behaviors at opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a leader could be strong with one of these two behaviors, but would be weaker in the opposite one (Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies viewed these two behaviors as distinct and independent. That is, a leader could be high or low in one or both behaviors. For example, in the U. S. Army one of the most important rules is to take care of your soldiers and complete the mission task; a leader should be good with both. Bad leaders can do neither, nor do just one but not the other (Joyce, 2012). The notion that just two dimensions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stetooden (2009) reveals that it is possibly Eric Carle s childhood that has provoked the sensational books illustrated and written by him. Carle s family left New York after living there six years to return to his parents home of Germany. It was in Germany where Carle s father was drafted into the German Army and then not seen for eight years as he became a prisoner in Russia. The years of war and time without his father took toil on the author/illustrator. A frail father eventually returned, and Carle had to rely on his early memories of his father to encourage him and even give him artistic inspiration. Carle recalls one such memory that has inspired many of his books involving nature as he related that he and his father used to go for long walks in the countryside together, and he would peel back tree bark to show me what was underneath it, lift rocks to reveal the insects. As a result, I have an abiding love and affection for small insignificant animals ( Eric ). With his creativity and inner child, Carle who is now in his eighties has illustrated over 70 books, and he also wrote many of these books. His creativity does not end with books; his other interests lie in painting, sculpture, printmaking, as well as furniture and building design (Beneduce, p. 428). Eric Carle s illustrations and books remain and continue to be famous not only in the United States but worldwide because they are creative and full of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Perspective That Influenced My Life Everyone s perspectives have been influenced by their experiences. Every so often a grand occurrence influences one s life in an impactful way, while other times it is the little instances that influence your life the most. I know that I have definitely been influenced by innumerable occurrences, but one perspective stands out more than others. My perspective is unlike the majority of others. This is from the perspective of a girl who has four loving parents. Some kids may find it difficult to deal with four parents, but for me it is comforting. Having multiple parents, I receive more support with everything I undertake. For example, it is not just my mother and father supporting my decision to attend Lenape for Culinary but also my step mother and step father. So, as you can tell I acquire an abundance amount of support. Although people may be under the impression that it would be more difficult to receive permission when wanting to do something, in my instance, it is actually better to get more perspectives. Growing up, my father told me no to a large amount of activities that I wanted to do. Now I m allowed to do more after school activities, as well as spend more time with friends. I live with my father and step mother. My step mother is my biggest inspiration. She is the person that I look up to. If I traveled between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Bianca Barreto Texas Tech University Abstract In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field. Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing screen with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right side of the plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the words was recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between males and females. In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the right side being significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater differences between visual fields when compared to females. These findings suggest that the right hemisphere is more selective in word processing and that males are more lateralized than females. Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Insufficient information is known about how words are processed by the brain. Within the scientific community, the brain is believed to be lateralized (Tucha, Aschenbrenner, Lange, 2000). In this case, the left hemisphere controls the right side of the body and the ... • 48. Comparison Of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Movie Vs Book Some people say movies are the way to the heart, but have you ever read a book? Books are way more descriptive than movies because they add so many more important details. Movies are not as descriptive because they try squishing an eleven hour reading into a two hour screening. Finally, movies always leave out important scenes and characters. On the other hand movies are pretty cool because they do have some pretty creative images that you would have never imagined before. The book version of Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief is better than the movie version because the book includes characters like Ares, Cerberus, and the Three Kindly Ones. The first important character to the story is Ares for many reasons. First reason is he stole Hades s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cerberus is a super nice dog that is super cute. He is also the creature who guards the entrance to the underworld. Finally, Cerberus loves Annabeth, is her friend, and obeys her commands. Even though he is a cool character, he is not the most important to the storyline. He still adds detail to the storyline though, because he guards the underworld so people who aren t supposed to be in the underworld get in. As you can see, Cerberus is an important character to the story. Finally the Three Kindly Ones are important to the story for a variety of reasons. First, one of them is Mrs. Dodds his old Pre Algebra teacher. Second, they won t stop trying to kill Percy Jackson. Finally, after they get killed they come back to life. They aren t as important as other characters because they didn t even hurt Percy once. That shows they are in the story but not necessarily important to the storyline, but they are still fun to read about. Ms. Dodds is the only one that is very important to the storyline, that s why she is in the movie too. However, they do work for Hades and he wants them to get the helm for him. Even though they didn t hurt Percy they still scared him and attacked many times, which makes the book more interesting. That s why the Three Kindly Ones make the book more ...
