Nevada Constitution Vs. Nevada
The Nevada constitution is the document that governs the citizens of the state of Nevada. In
general, state constitutions are usually much longer than the United States constitution and Nevada
s constitution, which was sanctioned in 1864, is one of the state constitutions that fall into that
category. When comparing the two, Nevada s constitution is just short of being twice the length of
the United States constitution, but Nevada is still shorter than the constitution of twenty six other
states. The reason Nevada s constitution has such length is because of the in depth parts it contains,
which are protracted from the provisions of the United States constitution. The reason for Nevada s

An Athletic Apparel And Fashion Business Essay
Finish Line is an athletic footwear and fashion business that serves in the national markets. The

is also a market where Finish Line does its business. Out of the 660 stores that it has, there are
about 50 Running Specialty stores, and 200 plus branded shops inside department stores (Macy

better and larger than their competitors stores. The core stores offer a variety of clothes,
accessories, and footwears, which provides customers with more options of shoes and apparels

Sex Tourism In Thailand Essay
Sex tourism examines the issues that emerge from a sex worker (prostitute) and tourist (farang
/customer) interactions. Sex Tourism is progressively spreading and it is now a worldwide subject
matter that every country can relate to some way or the other. Sex tourism it has been around for
decades and it has grown more widespread. This industry is very well understood by the tourist. It
is not formally publicized; it is rather through informal exchanges, word of mouth and internet, that
the farang gets to know who to see and where to go. In Thailandsex tourism is a main source of
income for many rural families. These families are poor and the fact that the state of the economy
of the country is bad it makes the situation worse. In this analytical essay, I will argue the cause and
origin of prostitutionas a result of the Current economic status in Thailand.
Sex tourism, for the vast majority, conjures up an image of red light districts in places like
Amsterdam and Patpong Bangkok. However, the historical backdrop of sex tourism dates back
to the time of the industrial revolution era (1820s 1840s). During the Vietnam war, a large
number of U.S soldiers were involved in the boom of the brothels industry and organized
prostitutions. According to class lectures, the U.S government allowed the soldiers to go to
Thailand for Rest and Recreation (R R). (holiday sex 6). Prostitution was already in practice before
the war, however, its because of the vast majority of soldiers

Why Should Children Be Involved In Organized Activities
In this day and age I feel that children should be more involved in organized activities. There are
many reasons for this to be said among them some of the main factors for the statement is today s
technology, the ammount of time that is spent inside looking at a screen, and the over all
antisocialness of children because of the freedom that they are given. Though there are good
reasons to let children to be open, free and creative with what they do with their timecontroling what
they should do with said time is a much better choice.
Starting off with why children should be in more organized activities is the technology that this
age has already released. Every child in todays time has some form of technology that they re
always looking into from a tablet, a phone, a laptop, or even just sitting inside looking a televison
screen. All these forms of technology take away from the childs time to do anything else this is
why having organized activities in their life can help them break away from such things. An
example could be as simple as sports say instead of coming home from school and sitting on their
phone the children are going to practice, games, or even scrimmages for their team. Thus this keeps
them away from the electronics and placing them in the real world. ... Show more content on

One of them being social status and appearance. I for one, had fallen to the bottom of the totem

I grew tired of being homely, of the arrows, of being punctured with words that were, supposedly,

stood unyielding convinced I would never be better than the dirt that s walked on. It must have
been their persistence that led to the realization: beautiful things grow within the dirt, relying on its
nutrients to grow strong and great. I was more valuable as a human than a target, yet instead, a
fighter. In order to win against the enemies, to no longer be a victim, I needed to first fight the
battle within my own mind before progressing to tackle outer defenses. Confidence has been the
inflexible trait to fix, rather than the higher resilient features such as activeness or originality. In
time, the laborious work and constant battles paid off. I had learned to have my own confidence,

Essay on Historians Interest in Elizabeth and Her Successors
Historians Interest in Elizabeth and Her Successors
Elizabeth Tudor is considered by many to be the greatest monarch in English history. When she
became queen in 1558, she was twenty five years old, a survivor of scandal and danger, and
considered illegitimate by most Europeans. She inherited a bankrupt nation, torn by religious
discord, a weakened pawn between the great powers of France and Spain. She was only the third
queen to rule England in her own right; the other two examples, her cousin Lady Jane Grey and
half sister Mary I, were disastrous. Even her supporters believed her position dangerous and
uncertain. Although there was widely held discomfort with England having a female ruler,... Show

The complex issue of who might have been chosen as a husband for Elizabeth has greatly
interested historians, as there was no shortage of candidates. However, candidates had to be
approved by both Elizabeth and her council, which proved harder than they had imagined.
Potential partners fell into two categories: Englishmen and foreigners. There were unfortunately
drawbacks in both categories. If Elizabeth were to marry an Englishman he would be of non royal
stock as there were no remaining male Tudor relations of a marriageable age. However, Mary s
marriage to Philip II of Spain meant now that many at Court disliked the prospect of the Queen
marrying a foreigner. Although Mary had signed a pre nuptial contract limiting Philip s powers,
she was reluctant to enforce it and the common opinion was that this led to the loss of Calais. The
xenophobic feelings of the council (and public) were heightened in 1554 1558 and they were
determined that this situation would not arise again, where Britain would not become A satellite of
the bridegroom s domains.....the new king s territories. (Keith Randell.) Some historians believe
that having witnessed this situation, Elizabeth herself wished to be avoid risking the loss of control
that Mary experienced (C. Jordan) and this may have made her reluctant to seriously

The Eu And The European Union
Introduction
Formed from 28 Member States, the EU has developed an internal single market which enabled it
to control what happens in the Member States. The context in which the EU has developed has
caused it to be unique in comparison to all the others and through this essay I will demonstrate how
the characteristics and functions of the EU are found to be those only associated with the EU.
Creating EU Law
The European Union has aims which are to promote peace, maintain its values and maintain the
wellbeing of the people. Even though there are other organisations which also aim to do this, the
EU is unique as it has to balance the national interest, common interest of the EU, democratic
representation and also geographical representation. The EU has executive bodies which enable it
to make decisions throughout the process: the Commission, Council of Ministers and the European
Parliament.
The Commission is the only institution inside the EU which has the power to draft new
legislation. It has the power to legislate in many areas across Europe, however there must be an
establishment of competence in order for the EU to rightfully legislate in a certain area. Article 2
of the TFEU outlines whether it is the EU or the Member State which has the right to legislate in a
certain area and therefore the extent of the competence that the EU has. The Commission can
either have exclusive (it is given full power to legislate), shared (where the Member State can
legislate as long as

Okwonkwo was known throughout the village as a man with many accomplishments, but most
of all he was known as someone who could not control his anger. His anger transferred to the
way he raised his children, he beat them when they were too lazy or sometimes even something
as simple as liking a certain type of story. Achebe states that, These were the type of stories that
Nwoye loved. But he knew that they were for foolish women and children....so he feigned that
he no longer cared for women stories. And when he did this he saw that his father was pleased,
and no longer rebuked him or beat him. (p 58). Nwoye had once liked the stories his mother told,
but since his father was so violent he couldn t like these stories and forced himself not to. Nwoye
was tired of his father s insensitive actions and this led him to hate his father. When the British
came Nwoye saw that as a way to rebel against his father. Achebe mentions in the book after
Nwoye had just been beaten by his father because of Nwoye going to the church that, He went

built the church......Nwoye did not fully understand but he was happy to leave his father. (p 145

shows that this is Nwoye s way of standing up to his father and his violent tendencies and becoming

How Did Rome Have Faith How Will People Live In Such...
Rome Galiya Bar Tal Rome was one the greatest empire of all times. Rome was ahead of her time
and is responsible for a big part of modern civilization. It s hard to imagine that it all began on top
of a few hills. I debated a lot. There are so many interesting topics. But I decided to write about
mythology. I decided to research this topic because I was very curious about the beliefs of the
Romans. They won so many battles and lost some, but something surely kept their spirit. But
what is it that gives people hope that gives them strength and a safety net: Beliefs, faith. If there
was no faith how will people live in such difficult times? The Romans did have faith. They
believed in gods. In fact, they went to battle depended on the god s favour. Romans looked to the

Persuasive Speech On Animals In Zoo
Albert Einstein once said: Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of
compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. Ladies and
gentlemen, Today, I stand before you to address the growing issue of animals being imprisoned.
Put yourself in the shoes of the animal; can you imagine being locked up in a cage, eating,
sleeping and excreting in the same place every day? Well, animals in zoos are forced to!
Can we really say that animals in zoos, enjoy being taken away from their parents and natural
habitats? The answer to that question is No! . Did you know that tigers and lions have nearly
eighteen thousand times less space in a zoo than they do in their natural habitat and polar bears ...

In zoos, animals have no possible ways to defend themselves or escape from dangerous
situations. In many cases, animals in zoos have been poisoned, starved or even burned in fires!
A recent example on May 28, 2016 was where an animal was killed in the Cincinnati zoo was the
shooting of the gorilla Harambe . In this incident, an irresponsible parent was not looking after
her child and the child climbed into the enclosure. The gorilla was then shot in order to save the
child. Another major incident dates back to the Hurricane Katrina. Here, the employees were
forced to leave as the power failed which led to over 10,000 aquatic animals being killed.
Animals should be given the freedom they deserve. They should not be held captive in zoos and
we can help stop this insanity. If people stop buying tickets to look at imprisoned animals, zoos
will be forced to stop imprisoning and breeding wild animals. There are many better ways of
studying an animal, such as looking up about it online, or even watching an animal documentary
which shows the animal in its natural habitat, with its natural behavior. The animals need to be

3,800 people and causing permanent injuries for thousands more. The company involved

Furthermore, the location of the plant being situated nearby a large lake guaranteed sufficient

Bhopal plant was to supply pesticide in order to protect the Indian agricultural production. These
pesticides were made to cater to the Indian market and to gain the ability to transform its
agricultural sector into a modern activity. No doubt the benefits, the plant also had its perks. India
is still nonetheless a developing country which at current still lacks the infrastructure necessary to
support this chemical plant. Nevertheless, companies invested in the plant failing to realize the
flaws in the infrastructure. The impracticality of the plant s management brought the creation of
a low cost plant with minimal safety features. UCIL also had weak policies, procedures and

Human Security . Human Security can be defined as focusing on the individual human being as the

A Brief History of R2P in Policy
Before relating the R2P to the Darfur Crisis it is important to understand the fundamental tenants of
the R2P debate in relation to humanitarian intervention and the repercussions for state sovereignty.
The R2P concept can trace its modern origin to the address given by former UN Secretary General
Kofi Annan, to the General Assembly in 1999 putting forward the challenge of preventing another
Rwanda.
In response to this challenge the Canadian Government sponsored the foundation of the
International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty (ICISS) in 2000 . Its report The
Responsibility to Protect was released the following year. The report outlines that the main message
of R2P is that sovereignty entails responsibility. Responsibility to protect its citizens from genocide
and other gross violations of human rights . Should any particular nation fail to uphold these
protections, then under the R2P concept responsibility devolves to the international community .
This of course comes with a significant moral weight. The R2P report from the ICISS effectively
changed the conceptual thinking from Humanitarian Intervention to Responsibility to Protect

Negative Publicity Rains Upon AAMC Hired in 1998, Ephonia M. Green was hired to work at
Association of American Medical College as an administrative assistant employee. Ms. Green s
yearly salary earned her approximately $56,000 a year however she is charged with stealing
more than $5 million from AAMC over a period of 12 years until the fraud was discovered in
July 2013. Ms. Green s access to submitting invoices for payments through AAMC allowed her to
create a scheme that would catapult her well over her yearly salary. Ms. Green created company
names that were similar to legitimate vendors of AAMC in which she then registered those trade
names with the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation. She then created fictitious
invoices for those companies as actual vendors of AAMC. Using the names that she created, she
then opened bank accounts at several local banks. These financial institutions would serve as
personal businesses used to receive payment in which she would personally profit from. As an
employee of AAMC, Ms. Green reviewed the false invoices and signed off on them which indicated
to the accounting department those invoices were approved for payment. Ms. Green also advised
with each invoice that the checks generated to pay the invoice, should be returned directly to her
versus mailing them out to the fictitious vendor. The accounting department had no way of

My Philosophy of Classroom Management Essay
A. Theoretical Introduction My philosophy of classroom management is that the management of
elementary classrooms require several things. Among patience, determination and motivation are:
flexibility, careful planning and consistency. A well managed classroom did not get well managed
without a teacher who planned, had a flexible vision and was determined. Any new teacher, who is
asked, will say they wanta classroom with as few behavioral problems as possible as well as one
that is easily manageable. But any experienced teacher, who is asked, will tell those new teachers
that classrooms do not come well managed . They have to be made into well managed classrooms.
These experienced teachers would also encourage by saying... Show more content on

This would include everything from the way desks should be arranged and the order subjects are
taught, to the type of activities given to enhance a lesson. Planning of these things will help
classroom management run much more smoothly. Finally, classroom management requires
consistency, particularly with discipline. Inconsistent teachers who discipline only half of the time
it is needed, send mixed messages to that child as well as to his/her classmates. Teachers needto
remember that following through with what they said helps the child remember that their
undesirable behavior will not be tolerated and that there are consequences for their actions.
Consistency is a skill that teachers should make sure they have when they step into a classroom.
Flexibility, careful planning and consistency are key components, I think, that teachers would find
helpful when dealing with classroom management.
I feel children need guidance and support from the world around them. That is why they have
parents, family and teachers. I believe, like Barbara Coloroso and others, that children are worth
all the work teachers put into their job. Children are not only worth it, but they deserve our very
best. Even the troublesome kid in the class, deserves to get an education and learn how to read so
he/she can fill out a job application when he/she is eighteen. As adults, who have gone through most
of our schooling, we owe

Hermia s Dream
With regards to William Shakespeare s comedy, A Midsummer Night s Dream, the theme of love
plays a central role throughout the play. When separating the play into its separate worlds being:
the social world and the green/comic world, the norms regarding love differs from one world to
the next. With reference to the given extract of Lysander and Hermia in the comic world, certain
threatening forces within the comic world surface to interfere with plot as well as the way in
which these dark forces are driven out in order for the play to remain comedic instead of tragic.
The world in which the lovers plot is predominantly set is in the comic world, where the comedic
element of the play is brought to life. The comic world (also referred to as... Show more content on

Oedipus As A Tragic Hero
Although not all who wander or deviate from the path are lost, some clearly are. When Oedipus,
the eponymous character of Sophocles tragedy Oedipus Rex, first learns that he is destined to kill
his father and marry his mother, he abandons his home intent on never returning in order to avoid
meeting his fate. Unbeknownst to the tragic hero, before the curtain s rise, the prophecy has already
been fulfilled. Consequently, due to the underlying corruption in Thebes, the people are perishing
of a plague that will not cease until the man responsible for the death of the previous Theban King,
King Laius, is identified and brought to justice. This urgency propels Oedipusto discover that his
biological father is not the King of Corinth who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significance of this theme is conveyed through Sophocles and Shakespeare s usage of dialog,
characterization, and symbolism. To start, Sophocles and Shakespeare utilize dialog to illustrate
the theme of exile within their respective works. Attempting to ease Oedipus s mind by
convincing him that he has nothing to fear in the predictions of the oracles, Jocasta gives the
ironic example of the plot to kill her own infant son to avoid a similar prophecy. Sophocles
dialog for Jocasta states, But Laius,/ so the report goes at least, was killed by strangers,/ thieves,
at a place where three roads meet ... [M]y son / he wasn t three days old and the boy s father
/ fastened his ankles, had a henchman fling him away on a barren, trackless mountain./ There, you
see? (787 793). Although exile, or at least the threat of exile, is prevalently addressed within the
dialog of both works, Jocasta s rashness to murder her child is jarring, even more so due to the
inappropriately comforting tone with which Jocasta retrospects on such a sinister deed. Likewise,
King Lear responds irrationally when he promptly arranges a marriage for Cordelia to the King
of France after Cordelia admits that she loves her father only to the extent that it is appropriate
for a daughter to love her father. Shakespeare s written dialog for Lear reads, Let her be thine, for
we/ Have no such daughter, nor shall ever see/That face of hers again (1.4.264 266). Like Jocasta,

The Death Of Robert F. Kennedy
The American Dream: success, happiness, riches, stability; all of these went out the window
after the stock market crash in 1929. As we ve all read about in history books and listened to the
monotonous lectures in high school, America was a place of promise and full of revolutionary
new ideas. Men were investing, women were working, and kids could play in the streets with a
twinkle in their eye. Arthur Miller was the prodigal son of hard working American immigrants who
struggled through the depression. Married three times, once to the famous Marilyn Monroe, Miller

was the case for old Willy Loman. He compares his sons to the Greek God s, Adonis in particular,

The Advantage Of The Media And Social Media
What about the media? Media disability is another advantage. Incumbents are linked to every
media outlet, the television, radio, internet, and social media. Technology is the biggest platform in
this day and era. A study by Pew Research Center concluded that 62 percent of U.S. adults obtain
their new on social media. Incumbents can reach every audience, young, middle aged, the elder as
well as those who come from different backgrounds.
Ever wondered where incumbents get the money from to constantly send flyers to your house or
the ones that get put in your windshield or doorknob? We witness and experience this all the time
during election time. They have franking privilege. Franking privilege is when lawmakers send
certain mails to their voters without payments of postage. However, the only people that are
allowed this privilege are members of Congress and the Vice President. The sitting president does
not.
Incumbents also have access to a lot of resources once they ve established a strong support system.
For example, voter catalogs and contact information. The catalog consists of all parties who are
registered to vote, the party they favor, telephone number and district. It is vital and big deal for
candidates to have this information because they can contact and pursue those to vote for them. Not
everyone incumbent or candidate is fortunate to acquire this information.
Finally, amongst all the other advantages, incumbents have the advantage of patronage and
casework.

Rectification of camera captured document images for Camera based OCR technology Abstract
Due to the rapid progress in digital cameras industry, camera captured documents becomes as
another possibility or choice for document capturing and understanding for OCR applications.
However, image quality degradations arising from the image acquisition process have severe effect
on these applications. The distortion results from digital camera may take the shape of skew,
perspective distortion or geometric distortion. We propose fully automatic preprocessing techniques
to enhance the digital camera captured images to improve the performance of OCR applications.
Our algorithms depend on the features of the text lines and letters and do not need any especial
equipment. Experimental results on a real camera captured images demonstrate 10~15 %
enhancement in current commercial OCR packages. 1.Introduction Textual content in books,
newspapers and articles have been traditionally digitized using scanners and read with the help of
optical character recognition (OCR). Recent technical advances in digital cameras have led the
OCR community to consider using them instead of scanners for document capture. Compared with
the scanner, the digital camera is quite easier to use, being able to capture images from any
viewpoint. Cameras can be easily integrated with portable computing devices such as PDAs, cell
phones, or media players. Together, these factors contribute to the growing interest

The Role Of Social Norms In Jerzy Kosinski s
Jerzy Kosinski s novella Being There depicts how social norms affect the socialization of
individuals and displays individuals ability to alter their presentation of self within particular
situations. Kosinski plays with symbolism and the power of names by presenting the character
Chance, who self identifies himself as the gardener, and who acquired his name by being born by
chance. Chance, renamed as Chauncey Gardiner by his peers, has limited social and
communication skills due to being bound to his home with the Old Man, who took him in from
birth. Chance now acting as Chauncey takes on the social role of an upper class, intelligent,
business man, prompting him to be thrown into the world of politics with the elite. Surprisingly,

This miscommunication was caused by Chance s attempt to follow social cues and mirror the
actions he saw depicted on television. Although he did not always understand social situations fully,
Chance s ability to adapt to the change in his social environment is due to the skills and norms he
learned from watching television at the Old Man s home. Despite a few moments of confusion,
Chance acting as Chauncey was able to convince those around him that he was a businessman with
insight on economics, not that he was just faking it. The character Chance takes on the public role
of Chauncey Gardiner in Jerzy Kosinski s novella Being There, showcasing Goffman s

Borderline Personality Disorder ( Borderline ) Essay
It took me longer than usual to start this essay, because I fell into a deep pit of self doubt every
time I tried. Whenever I start a personal piece about my childhood, my mind instantly becomes a
hive of swirling thoughts in a cloud of static. No matter what I know to be true, the fear of having
my mother discredit me severely impedes progress. I have known about Borderline Personality
Disorderfor some time, and I knew my estranged mother was diagnosed with it at one point, but I
didn t really start researching it until a friend lent me a copy of Surviving a Borderline Parent.
Part of me was afraid if I learned more about it, I would only feel sympathy for her, and guilt for
going no contact. As awful as it sounds, I was tired of trying to understand her, and I was over
feeling guilty about her personal wounds. There was also a bigger part of me that was afraid of
admitting my upbringing influenced my personality in such a strong way. On some level, I
know she would take credit for any of it, the good and the bad, because that is her style. To admit
that I was a self defeatist, that I am intimately familiar with Impostor Syndrome, is to admit that
all of her taunting was correct. I don t live up to my potential, and I am afraid of success.

75% being women; though it is believed more men may be undiagnosed or mistreated. Because of

The Spiral Road Summary
The Spiral Road is a perceptive series bringing together the humanistic view of the rise of the
People Republic of China. Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just
another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the
people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a
series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the
PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both
of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book
with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is
slowly opening up to the rest of the world. As a scholar his work is remarkable in bringing light to
the peasantry, who feed the development of Chinafrom bottom up. However, Huang s adaptation

wanted by the nationalist government. However, in the midst of the book foreseeing the Cultural
Revolution is overshadowed by Ye s tone describing his earlier political activism after end of
Shaoqi s rule, where his military aims transformed to a menial local post in his home village as a

Comparing The Tell-Tale Heart And Silence Of The Lambs
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti. This
is a quote from the movie Silence of the Lambs (1991) which is one of the greatest horror movies
of all time. This quote in particular is the most chilling of all lines in the movie because it shows
how insane Hannibal Lecterreally is, not on an intellectual level but a barbaric one. The Silence of
the Lambs and Edgar Allan Poehad very similar styles in their literary use. In the three stories The
Tell Tale Heart, The Black Cat , and The Cask of Amontillado Edgar Allan Poe s three main
stylistic writing uses are the use of irony, horror, and covering up horrible deeds done by the main

In the story The tell tale Heart the narrator kills an old man, takes apart his body. I pulled up
three of the boards that formed the floor, and put the pieces of the body there. Then I put the
boards down again, carefully, so carefully that no human eye could see that they had been
moved. (Poe, The Tell Tale Heart 4) The reason Edgar decides for the character to put the body
in the floor boards because the narrator wants to hide his horrible deed or sin because he is not
fully insane and could not handle the horrible truth knowing that he killed a man when he
returns to insanity. Another reason he could have covered up the body was to shield it from god
because murder is a sin. In the story The Black Cat the narrator kills his wife and wants to hid
her away forever so he would never be able to get charged with the crime. And in this calculation
I was not deceived. By means of a crowbar I easily dislodged the bricks, and, having carefully
deposited the body against the inner wall, I propped it in that position, while with little trouble, I

Differences Between Television And Television
After going over how meaning is made in television, in chapter seven, Mittell goes over how these
meanings on television can impact the way that we, as viewers, think about our lives and the world.
Mittell goes over the two most popular approaches that are usually used to understand the
relationship of the meanings conveyed through televisionand the real world, as a way to escape the
world and as a reflection of the world. The escapist and direct reflection approaches, according to
Mittell, are not accurate. The escapist approach, which states that people watch television to escape
from real life, falls short when considering the news, sports, talk shows, and other reality television
programs due to their connection to real life. The direct reflection approach, which states that
programming on television is true to viewers lives, fails to take into account fantasy programs and
the representation distortion that happens in non fiction programs. Mittell argues that the best way
to understand the relationship between television meanings and the way television viewers see the
world is to use the refraction approach. The refraction approach states that television meanings
refract the world, where programs alter the world around it and its meanings through particular
techniques and forms like cinematography and editing. An important term in Mittell s refraction
approach is representation. Mittell defines representation as, taking facets of the real world and

Impact Of Rearmament And Remilitarization
Rearmament and Remilitarization Hitler s Path to Power
The strongest military power in Europe. On April 2, 1936, this haunting description of the strength
of Nazi Germany was made by Louis Maurin, the French Minister of War at the time (Deist). 18
years earlier, the allied powers had crippled German military strength, limited the size of her
standing army to 100,000 men, prohibited the manufacturing of arms, and virtually liquidated the
German Navy and Air Force after their defeat in World War I (Britannica). For years, Germanyand
her people suffered under devastating financial crises and debilitating terms stipulated in the Treaty
of Versailles. As frustration and a hunger for change swept across the nation, a young and
charismatic orator by the name of Adolf Hitler began to gather support in cities and beerhalls
across the country (Kershaw). As his power grew, Hitler began to disregard regulations set into
place by the Treaty of Versailles, testing Britain and France s will to intervene (Deist). By defying
the military restrictions imposed on Germany by the Treaty of Versailles, Adolf Hitler solidified
his position as the supreme ruler of Germany s Third Reich.
During the 1920s and early 1930s, Hitler began encouraging the growth of the German war industry
while also recruiting hundreds of thousands of Nazi Party members to join the ranks of his para
military force, the Sturmabteilung (Robertson). On March 16, 1935, after years of building

of black men and women who experienced police brutality. I believe the main reason society has
not recognized these types of victims is due to lack of media coverage. According to an article on
USA Today, ...the data show that police
incidents involving women of color occur at a
disproportionately high level compared with media coverage. (Clark, 2016) Because of this lack
of coverage, many people in society do not realize this type of crime is happening. I asked a friend
for his thoughts on the topic, and he said crimes committed against black women by

What Are The Strengths And Disadvantages Of Volunteer...
Pynes (2013) states the public sector relies on volunteers for an assortment of purposes and in a
variety of environments. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 64.3 million Americans
volunteered at least once between September 2010 and September 2011. (2013, p. 377 378). As a
State of Florida employee, this organization depends heavily on a volunteer to accomplish our
mission, vision, and value of the community; a vision to become the healthiest State in the Nation,
which takes many hands and feet which volunteer help to meet this. I am not unacquainted with
these two volunteer programs Keep TampaBay Beautiful and Meals on Wheels of Tampa . What are
the strengths and weaknesses of these programs? What are the challenges these volunteer programs
are facing the types of services they provide? And, which organization is liable to have a successful
program and what would I recommend improving the other organization achievement.
Since, 1989, Keep Tampa BayBeautiful has participated impacted services to Tampa Bay area.

Analysis Of The Book Severus Snape
1: Character of Severus Snape
Severus Snape is shown to be a person who is not just a strict teacher but also cold towards most
people. As the story evolves, we learn Snape s story and the side he actually is on. Professor
Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 2 May, 1998) was a half blood wizard who was the son of the
witch Eileen Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. Severus was made a member of the Slug Club,
presumably because of his brilliance at potion making, and Horace Slughorn kept a picture of
him as a student, clutching his copy of Advanced Potion Making. Despite this, Horace did not
have many hopes for Severus s future, as his photograph was kept behind many others. Shortly
before Lily Evans was murdered by Lord Voldemort, Snape changed sides and became a member of
the Order of the Phoenix and double agent during the Second Wizarding War. With tremendous
difficulty, Snape prevented Lord Voldemort from learning the truth about his loyalties. Despite the
opinions of most others including Harry during his early life, Albus Dumbledore trusted Snape for
reasons that were kept between them both until their deaths. When he died, it was revealed that his
deep strong love for Lily Evans caused him to redeem himself, joining Dumbledore s cause at the
prospect of her protection (and, after her death, that of her son) from Lord Voldemort. verus Potter

Sexism In Modern Society
Sexism is the failure to give equal weight to women s interests. It is the antithesis of feminism, a
moral, political, and social movement that seeks justice for women. Sexism is important because
it undermines the welfare of one half of the human population and is a major source of women s
oppression. The concept of women as inferior to men originates from ancient civilization. Since the
beginning of time, men are gifted the titled as strong, independent, and the bread winner for the
entire households. In a sense, men are superior as they hold all the power and ability to decide for
their household and nation. On the other hand, women are limited to only reside in the home as
their duties cleaning, cooking, and nursing belongs at home. This suppression and imbalance in
power is still a constant battle for women even after the Women s Rights Movement. Women fought
for equality and desired to have the freedom to express their minds and do activities outside the
home like men. They were eventually granted this freedom as time progressed, but genderroles are
still present in modern society. One particular stereotype portrayed by the media is women s
inability to fight and protect themselves. Female characters are often depicted as a damsels in
distress, always in need of protection or rescuing from a male character. Sadly enough, this
perception is not always true. Women are not weak, fragile, or incapable of protecting themselves.
If anything, females have the capability to

Depiction Of Gladiator
A True Depiction of a Gladiator
There have been many movies that try to demonstrate how gladiators trained for their violent
combat against other gladiators, in hope to win and keep their lives at the end of their gruesome
battles. Although, the 1960 s movie Spartacus, with Kirk Douglas, had a few differences
demonstrating how actual gladiators trained in Rome, it still contains more accurate scenes
displaying their intense training. The movie showed the kind of training schools they were in, the
armor used, and the styles of fighting that they practiced to prepare these men, as they did hundreds
of years ago in Rome.
To begin with, around 264 BC the gladiator games were introduced in Rome, called Munera. These
games were initially hosted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rome, there were around 30 different gladiators that were experts with the different shields,
weapons, and armor. There were the elite gladiators, who were freed and decided to remain as
gladiators. Then there were heavily armed gladiators that had a lot of armor and were protected,
but had very little movement when fighting. Finally, there were the lightly armed gladiators,
they had little to no armor, but had the ability to move more freely when fighting. The armor
used during their practices was wooden swords and shields instead of real equipment, for the
protection of the gladiators, the soldiers, and trainers who worked there. When it was time for a
match the gladiators would use real swords, shields, and sometimes armor to battle (Types of
Gladiators). The gladiators also were used to represent strong gods by the way they were
dressed and the weapons they used. For instance, there were unusual weapons, such as a trident,
used by the god Neptune, and the use of a net to follow the water god theme (Retiarri). Unlike in
actual gladiator schools, in the movie, it did not seem to have the men separated by their specialty
but they all train together. Spartacus, and the other gladiators did train using wooden swords and
shields. There was a scene were Spartacus had to actually fight till the death with another gladiator
from the school, because some wealthy government men and their wives came to Ludi
Gladiatorium and wanted to see a fight. They paid a high percentage of money to make this
happen, since it was not allowed to fight these gladiators till death in the schools. Spartacus was
given a short sword and a shield, while his opponent was given a fish net and a trident to battle.
Although, Spartacus did not win that fight because his opponent spared his life, the man did
unfortunately get murdered on

Reflective essay BIDP
Reflective essay As part of my Business Innovation Development Project Unit, I had the
opportunity to put myself into group with my friends or people I believed I could work well with.
In the first stages of our group we all tried to get to know each other more through analysing
personality and learning types test that we previously undertook. I realise we were going through
the normal stages of the team formation in particular forming and norming (Tuckman, 1965). In my
assignment group we had all Belbin team roles which helped us perform well throughout our
project and also helped us to identify other team members behavioural strengths and weaknesses.

Unfortunately there was a second thing I did not like, which was that one of our team members
decided to drop out of the course in the middle of our project which made us change some of our
workload responsibilities. However looking back, I believe that was the right choice for her at
that time which I cannot change. My assignment group was very fortunate as we didn t face any
conflicts within our group. However I am aware that there could have been many different types
of conflicts such as; different personality issue, different point of views or some people just don
t get along which leads to dysfunctional conflict (Huczynski Buchanan, 2007), this can of
course affect the productivity of a team or individual. I now realised that we all focused on
everyone s feelings of how fairly they were treated (Adams Equity theory) within the team. It is
necessary, I believe, to make everyone treated equally, respected and to feel part of the team
because in my opinion that makes a strong relationship between the team members and it avoids
conflicts. Overall if I reflect back on our group work I believe we worked very well as a team
and my contribution to the group was significantly high because I had an aim in my mind which I
focused on until the end. As I worked the extra mile for our project, it resulted that it gave us, as a
team, a bit more time in preparation for our presentation and finalizing the app which was crucial at
that time for us. This experience has allowed me

Citizen Journalist Essay
Caterin L. Villar
November 27, 2011
English 102
Professor Rigney
Is Assuming the Role of Citizen Journalist worth the Risk?
Amateur journalism is becoming more and more popular everyday with the advancement of
technology. Newspapers across America have become so decimated by staff cutbacks that citizen
journalists are stepping in to fill the gap in covering the news. Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube are
only some of the free websites where users are connected with others and can share in an instant
what is happening in their side of the world. When the people formerly known as the audience
employ the press tools they have in their possession to inform one another, that s citizen journalism
(Rosen). Yulianti s article states... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tunisia s Zine al Abidine Ben was also ousted as a result of revolts formed from the reports from
private citizens. Social media is so powerful; the government of Malawi has shut down news
websites and social media networks including Twitter and Facebook to prevent suffering the same
fate as other dictatorship based governments. Cameroonian government has banned the use of
social media. In Uganda, the government temporarily closed social networks after threatening ISPs
with closure. The members of the current Occupy Wall Street movements use social media to
organize their political movement and gain members. Boudreau s article suggests Occupy Wall
Street has spread around the country with keyboard clicking quickness as participants tap into
Twitter, Facebook and microblogging site Tumblr to call Americans to the streets to protest what
they see as a broken global financial system. What would have taken months to unfold in a
different era has occurred in days and hours. The Economist magazine calls it America s first true
social media uprising (Broudreau). Revis article states These citizen journalists fight to create a
well informed public in which media also serves as moral education. This philosophy radically
departs from mainstream journalism, an overarching goal of which is to sell its product. Citizen
journalism, on the other hand, allows marginalized people to reclaim their voices, to tell their
otherwise silenced stories firsthand

Superstitions In Nino Ricci s Lives Of The Saints
Lives of the Saints
Everyone believes in something. The things in our life are all influenced by our beliefs. These
beliefs can include God, Buddha, cultural superstitions or simply kindness. These can change the
way you act, your outlook on life or how you treat others. Some can go to the extreme with their
beliefs, like the Italian culture. Italian culture houses many superstitions and they are buried under
this wall that they cannot get out of, much like the village in the novel Lives of the Saints. In Nino
Ricci s, Lives of the Saints, Cristina becomes an outcast in the town creating problems not only for
herself, but for Vittorio at school and her father in position as mayor. This is by the towns

The envy that one had is what stirred up the evil eye and many farmers were afraid of boasting
due to the fear of envy. Envy was the root of all the villagers troubles. Envy created many forces,
everyone feared the evil eye. In Martin Luther s Conception of Fascinare, it is said The belief,
and often the fear, that the evil eye can cause various sorts of harm prevails in many cultures.
The evil eye belief varies in different cultures, but has at least one thing in common in all
cultures where it can be discerned: eye power can cause sudden harm to another s property or
person. The person who casts the evil eye as well as its object vary from culture to culture. For
example, in Ancient Israel and Italy it has at times been cast by high ecclesiastical officials.
However, in Greece it is often thought to be cast by witches who can bewitch people. In the
Mediterranean, for example, the object of the evil eye can be a person of any age, but women
and the weak are especially susceptible. On the other hand, the wealthy or handsome are often
considered susceptible because they are objects of envy. In fact, envy is one common key factor
of the evil eye belief in various cultures. In addition to being a universal notion, it boasts a long
history. the relationship of envy to the evil eye was, for instance, important both in Ancient and
modern Greece and in the south of Italy (Luther 471). It is discussed that no matter the culture the
evil eye is still prevalent in all and much like the Italian culture envy is one of the leading causes.
Many are envious of Cristina in a way because she was able to go against the norms of her culture
and religion especially in the village of Valle Del Sole where they are trapped by their stupidities
and superstitions. The evil eye is said to be The eye was the locus of all the powers which could
not be explained under the usual religion, the religion of the churches: and despite

I Was An Eiffel Tower
I observed Daphne, a preschooler, and her brother Damien, a toddler, at their home around 1 pm.
They are siblings. The observation lasted 30 minutes. I sat down on the couch and observed
them at playing wooden blocks. Once when I arrived at my friend s house, my friend placed a
big black container box at their playroom that contains of different shapes and sizes of wooden
blocks. As their mom was putting at the center, Daphne and Damien were excited to go at the
center to play these wooden blocks. Their floor is made of carpet. Daphne started to place a big

While Damien was walking around her piece, Daphne said, be careful. Damien went to the
container and found a dish. Daphne said to her mom, Look Mama, while pointing to a dish.
Then, her mom said, he found a dish. Damien kept looking around and found an animal fence.
Damien added some wooden blocks to Daphne s tower. The wooden block stayed still and
Daphne said, Thanks. Damien added again some wooden blocks carefully and Daphne was
assisting him to put it in her tower. Daphne said to her mom, Look we made a big tower. Damien
kept adding to their work. The tower did not fall down as he placed the last triangular wooden
block. Then, Daphne got a ball to their couch and throw it to the tower they made. She said, hoop
and then, they both laughed. Then, they said together, again. Their mom said, let s have a contest

selves. At first attempt, their tower both fell down because of their fast paced and putting different

Premise: A team of three contestants answer a series seven questions by attempting to diffuse
seven bombs before they explode. On each question, one contestant will have a certain amount
of time to clip the wires that lead to the correct answers on each bomb. Each teammate must
answer at least one question in the game. Successfully diffusing a bomb adds the money at stake
for the question to the team bank. If a contestant clips a wire which leads to an incorrect answer
or if time expires, the bomb explodes, sliming the contestant with a mystery substance (maple
syrup, pesto, tomato sauce, etc.), and eliminates them from the game without adding any money
to the team bank. Here s how the game is structured for each bomb: #1: $5,000; 30 seconds to get 3
right answers (4 possible answers) #2: $10,000; 30 seconds to get 3 right answers (4 possible
answers) #3: $15,000;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

five second pauses between contestants clipping wires to abruptly cutting to commercial breaks
during tense moments, the producers of the FOX version did an wonderful job creating the

Why Is Banquo Important In Macbeth
To be sensible is to be realistic, reasonable, and rational. Many characters throughout various
writing pieces are portrayed as sensible. Amongst all, one of them is the Thane of Lochaber. In
Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Banquo is much more sensible in contrast to Macbeth because he
questions unnatural events, seeks help from light, and reacts to murder smartly. To begin, when
Banquoand Macbethencounter the witches, Banquo asks the more realistic question when Macbeth
wants to get more deceitful information. Banquo says Good sir, why do you start and seem to fear
/ Things that do sound so fair? I the name of truth,/ Are ye fantastical, or that indeed/ Which
actually ye show? (I.iii.54 56). Banquo is logical and asks the important question of whether the

whence/ You owe this strange intelligence? Or why. Upon this blasted heath you stop our way

the witch s realism, while Macbeth trusts their words, proves that Banquo is a sensible character.
Furthermore, Banquo seeks help from holy beings to hide his desires, unlike Macbeth, who
calls out to darkness. Banquo states, A heavy summons lies like lead upon me,/ And yet I would
not sleep. Merciful powers,/ Restrain in me the cursed thoughts that nature/ Gives way to in
repose! (II.i.7 10). Banquo chooses to pray to angels to keep away his nightmares. In contrast,
Macbeth is unwise because he calls out for darkness to hide light from seeing his motives. Stars
hide your fires;/ let not light see my black and deep desires, (!.iv.57 58). Banquo s plead to angels is
a more sensible appeal then to Macbeth s asking darkness to hide away light, an unwise

Sex tourism it has been around for decades and it has grown more widespread. This industry is very well understood by the tourist. • 7. Why Should Children Be Involved In Organized Activities In this day and age I feel that children should be more involved in organized activities. There are many reasons for this to be said among them some of the main factors for the statement is today s technology, the ammount of time that is spent inside looking at a screen, and the over all antisocialness of children because of the freedom that they are given. Though there are good reasons to let children to be open, free and creative with what they do with their timecontroling what they should do with said time is a much better choice. Starting off with why children should be in more organized activities is the technology that this age has already released. Every child in todays time has some form of technology that they re always looking into from a tablet, a phone, a laptop, or even just sitting inside looking a televison screen. All these forms of technology take away from the childs time to do anything else this is why having organized activities in their life can help them break away from such things. An example could be as simple as sports say instead of coming home from school and sitting on their phone the children are going to practice, games, or even scrimmages for their team. Thus this keeps them away from the electronics and placing them in the real world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I for one, had fallen to the bottom of the totem pole. I was considered a bulls eye, targeted by those that wished to shower me with arrows in the form of harsh words and taunts. I was an outcast, rejected from the norm. Although laborious, I climbed up the totem thanks to achieve strength and confidence. I grew tired of being homely, of the arrows, of being punctured with words that were, supposedly, meant to leave me unharmed. The condensed circle of friends and family I developed, constantly insisted that I am no less than an extraordinary human being. They continued the pestering, yet I stood unyielding convinced I would never be better than the dirt that s walked on. It must have been their persistence that led to the realization: beautiful things grow within the dirt, relying on its nutrients to grow strong and great. I was more valuable as a human than a target, yet instead, a fighter. In order to win against the enemies, to no longer be a victim, I needed to first fight the battle within my own mind before progressing to tackle outer defenses. Confidence has been the inflexible trait to fix, rather than the higher resilient features such as activeness or originality. In time, the laborious work and constant battles paid off. The purpose of a cult is so an individual and/or group claiming to be sent by God, to rule the one true religion. To become a cult member you must believe the exact same things in the exact same ways with no room for differences. Entering a cult is a lifetime commitment. Systems of intimidation are used to veer the people from ever thinking about getting out. • 10. Essay on Historians Interest in Elizabeth and Her Successors Historians Interest in Elizabeth and Her Successors Elizabeth Tudor is considered by many to be the greatest monarch in English history. When she became queen in 1558, she was twenty five years old, a survivor of scandal and danger, and considered illegitimate by most Europeans. She inherited a bankrupt nation, torn by religious discord, a weakened pawn between the great powers of France and Spain. She was only the third queen to rule England in her own right; the other two examples, her cousin Lady Jane Grey and half sister Mary I, were disastrous. Even her supporters believed her position dangerous and uncertain. Although there was widely held discomfort with England having a female ruler,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The complex issue of who might have been chosen as a husband for Elizabeth has greatly interested historians, as there was no shortage of candidates. However, candidates had to be approved by both Elizabeth and her council, which proved harder than they had imagined. Potential partners fell into two categories: Englishmen and foreigners. There were unfortunately drawbacks in both categories. If Elizabeth were to marry an Englishman he would be of non royal stock as there were no remaining male Tudor relations of a marriageable age. However, Mary s marriage to Philip II of Spain meant now that many at Court disliked the prospect of the Queen marrying a foreigner. Although Mary had signed a pre nuptial contract limiting Philip s powers, she was reluctant to enforce it and the common opinion was that this led to the loss of Calais. The xenophobic feelings of the council (and public) were heightened in 1554 1558 and they were determined that this situation would not arise again, where Britain would not become A satellite of the bridegroom s domains.....the new king s territories. (Keith Randell.) Some historians believe that having witnessed this situation, Elizabeth herself wished to be avoid risking the loss of control that Mary experienced (C. Jordan) and this may have made her reluctant to seriously ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Eu And The European Union Introduction Formed from 28 Member States, the EU has developed an internal single market which enabled it to control what happens in the Member States. The context in which the EU has developed has caused it to be unique in comparison to all the others and through this essay I will demonstrate how the characteristics and functions of the EU are found to be those only associated with the EU. Creating EU Law The European Union has aims which are to promote peace, maintain its values and maintain the wellbeing of the people. Even though there are other organisations which also aim to do this, the EU is unique as it has to balance the national interest, common interest of the EU, democratic representation and also geographical representation. The EU has executive bodies which enable it to make decisions throughout the process: the Commission, Council of Ministers and the European Parliament. The Commission is the only institution inside the EU which has the power to draft new legislation. It has the power to legislate in many areas across Europe, however there must be an establishment of competence in order for the EU to rightfully legislate in a certain area. Article 2 of the TFEU outlines whether it is the EU or the Member State which has the right to legislate in a certain area and therefore the extent of the competence that the EU has. The Commission can either have exclusive (it is given full power to legislate), shared (where the Member State can legislate as long as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Among patience, determination and motivation are: flexibility, careful planning and consistency. A well managed classroom did not get well managed without a teacher who planned, had a flexible vision and was determined. Any new teacher, who is asked, will say they wanta classroom with as few behavioral problems as possible as well as one that is easily manageable. But any experienced teacher, who is asked, will tell those new teachers that classrooms do not come well managed . They have to be made into well managed classrooms. This would include everything from the way desks should be arranged and the order subjects are taught, to the type of activities given to enhance a lesson. Planning of these things will help classroom management run much more smoothly. Finally, classroom management requires consistency, particularly with discipline. Inconsistent teachers who discipline only half of the time it is needed, send mixed messages to that child as well as to his/her classmates. Teachers needto remember that following through with what they said helps the child remember that their undesirable behavior will not be tolerated and that there are consequences for their actions. Consistency is a skill that teachers should make sure they have when they step into a classroom. Flexibility, careful planning and consistency are key components, I think, that teachers would find helpful when dealing with classroom management. I feel children need guidance and support from the world around them. That is why they have parents, family and teachers. I believe, like Barbara Coloroso and others, that children are worth all the work teachers put into their job. Children are not only worth it, but they deserve our very best. Even the troublesome kid in the class, deserves to get an education and learn how to read so he/she can fill out a job application when he/she is eighteen. Sophocles dialog for Jocasta states, But Laius,/ so the report goes at least, was killed by strangers,/ thieves, at a place where three roads meet ... Usually history is dictated, but Huang s ethnographic work is not just another text of narration. Huang makes the readers know history should be concerned with the people involved, as much as it looks at the overarching politics. The book can be considered a series of stories that staunchly describes the continuing revolution innate to the countryside of the PRC by this time in the late 1990 s. Huang s relationship with Ye, the local party leader, and both of their spirit in storytelling, one for work and another for self gratification, provides the book with an appropriate framework. Huang immerses himself in a culture that is isolated, but it is slowly opening up to the rest of the world. The Silence of the Lambs and Edgar Allan Poehad very similar styles in their literary use. (Poe, The Tell Tale Heart 4) The reason Edgar decides for the character to put the body in the floor boards because the narrator wants to hide his horrible deed or sin because he is not fully insane and could not handle the horrible truth knowing that he killed a man when he returns to insanity. Another reason he could have covered up the body was to shield it from god because murder is a sin. In the story The Black Cat the narrator kills his wife and wants to hid her away forever so he would never be able to get charged with the crime. And in this calculation I was not deceived. Differences Between Television And Television After going over how meaning is made in television, in chapter seven, Mittell goes over how these meanings on television can impact the way that we, as viewers, think about our lives and the world. Mittell goes over the two most popular approaches that are usually used to understand the relationship of the meanings conveyed through televisionand the real world, as a way to escape the world and as a reflection of the world. The escapist and direct reflection approaches, according to Mittell, are not accurate. The escapist approach, which states that people watch television to escape from real life, falls short when considering the news, sports, talk shows, and other reality television programs due to their connection to real life. The direct reflection approach, which states that programming on television is true to viewers lives, fails to take into account fantasy programs and the representation distortion that happens in non fiction programs. Mittell argues that the best way to understand the relationship between television meanings and the way television viewers see the world is to use the refraction approach. The refraction approach states that television meanings refract the world, where programs alter the world around it and its meanings through particular techniques and forms like cinematography and editing. An important term in Mittell s refraction approach is representation. Mittell defines representation as, taking facets of the real world and presenting them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On April 2, 1936, this haunting description of the strength of Nazi Germany was made by Louis Maurin, the French Minister of War at the time (Deist). 18 years earlier, the allied powers had crippled German military strength, limited the size of her standing army to 100,000 men, prohibited the manufacturing of arms, and virtually liquidated the German Navy and Air Force after their defeat in World War I (Britannica). For years, Germanyand her people suffered under devastating financial crises and debilitating terms stipulated in the Treaty of Versailles. As frustration and a hunger for change swept across the nation, a young and charismatic orator by the name of Adolf Hitler began to gather support in cities and beerhalls across the country (Kershaw). • 43. Sexism In Modern Society Sexism is the failure to give equal weight to women s interests. It is the antithesis of feminism, a moral, political, and social movement that seeks justice for women. Sexism is important because it undermines the welfare of one half of the human population and is a major source of women s oppression. The concept of women as inferior to men originates from ancient civilization. Since the beginning of time, men are gifted the titled as strong, independent, and the bread winner for the entire households. In a sense, men are superior as they hold all the power and ability to decide for their household and nation. On the other hand, women are limited to only reside in the home as their duties cleaning, cooking, and nursing belongs at home. This suppression and imbalance in power is still a constant battle for women even after the Women s Rights Movement. Women fought for equality and desired to have the freedom to express their minds and do activities outside the home like men. They were eventually granted this freedom as time progressed, but genderroles are still present in modern society. One particular stereotype portrayed by the media is women s inability to fight and protect themselves. Female characters are often depicted as a damsels in distress, always in need of protection or rescuing from a male character. Sadly enough, this perception is not always true. Women are not weak, fragile, or incapable of protecting themselves. If anything, females have the capability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then there were heavily armed gladiators that had a lot of armor and were protected, but had very little movement when fighting. Finally, there were the lightly armed gladiators, they had little to no armor, but had the ability to move more freely when fighting. The armor used during their practices was wooden swords and shields instead of real equipment, for the protection of the gladiators, the soldiers, and trainers who worked there. When it was time for a match the gladiators would use real swords, shields, and sometimes armor to battle (Types of Gladiators). The gladiators also were used to represent strong gods by the way they were dressed and the weapons they used. For instance, there were unusual weapons, such as a trident, used by the god Neptune, and the use of a net to follow the water god theme (Retiarri). Unlike in actual gladiator schools, in the movie, it did not seem to have the men separated by their specialty but they all train together. Spartacus, and the other gladiators did train using wooden swords and shields. There was a scene were Spartacus had to actually fight till the death with another gladiator from the school, because some wealthy government men and their wives came to Ludi Gladiatorium and wanted to see a fight. • 52. Why Is Banquo Important In Macbeth To be sensible is to be realistic, reasonable, and rational. Many characters throughout various writing pieces are portrayed as sensible. Amongst all, one of them is the Thane of Lochaber. In Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Banquo is much more sensible in contrast to Macbeth because he questions unnatural events, seeks help from light, and reacts to murder smartly. To begin, when Banquoand Macbethencounter the witches, Banquo asks the more realistic question when Macbeth wants to get more deceitful information. Banquo says Good sir, why do you start and seem to fear / Things that do sound so fair? I the name of truth,/ Are ye fantastical, or that indeed/ Which actually ye show? (I.iii.54 56). Merciful powers,/ Restrain in me the cursed thoughts that nature/ Gives way to in repose! (II.i.7 10). Banquo chooses to pray to angels to keep away his nightmares. In contrast, Macbeth is unwise because he calls out for darkness to hide light from seeing his motives. Stars hide your fires;/ let not light see my black and deep desires, (!.iv.57 58). Banquo s plead to angels is a more sensible appeal then to Macbeth s asking darkness to hide away light, an unwise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
