Biomedical Field Observation Report
Over the past year I feel that I have exceed expectations. As I diligently worked towards building a
new division of biomedical services, I succeeded in building a team prepared to take our services to
the next level, which will truly impact Northwell positively, with respect to the quality and expense to
maintain and secure all medical devices falling under the purview of Biomedical Engineering,
regardless of their departmental location in any hospital or off site health care delivery location.
Although, it took much longer than expected, I and my team worked closely with Executive leadership
and Procurement leadership to execute a contract for services, which will play an important strategic
role in transforming and standardizing the delivery of biomedical services system wide. With the
systems and services included in the contract, which as set to begin January 2017, the foundation will
be set to recognize and act upon financial opportunities, in real time. As I worked towards the above,
the resources under my discretion were put to use in achieving savings through beginning the in
sourcing of services for high end Diagnostic Imaging equipment, which was previously outsourced to

We engaged, and in some cases lead, dozens of projects to support other services lines goals. As such,
we are now routinely sought after for advise and direction. Early in 2016, I raised concerns pertaining
to cybersecurity, as it pertains to medical devices, which lead to a revitalization of a long dormant
project in IT. To date we have began to collaborate with IT, Procurement and other division, to recruit
the resources and develop the system to support the development of a world class cybersercutiy
approach for medical devices. This process will be an evolution, that will develop over the next

The Theme Of The American Dream In Death Of A Salesman
The American Dream
Willy Loman s was a man like any other trying to obtain the American Dream, and did not care if his
actions hurt his family. He had two sons which he believed were the key to his success, one more than
the other. His wife who was a supporting, stay at home mom,who tried her best to keep the peace in
the house. Willy on the other hand only brought stress and negativity to the home by putting pressure
on his sons to be the best of the best and achieve what he could not achieve. As Willy s begins to be his
own worst enemy, secrets come out and the truth reveal itself which leads Willy to his death.
In the beginning of the play WIlly is introduced as a working father that travels in order to make
money. He has a rocky relationship with his wife and does not even bother to make it better. In the
beginning you notice that Willys wife (Linda) has a great deal of love for Willy. In the play Death of a
Salesman it is written that she more than loves him, she admires him, as though his mercurial nature,
his temper, his massive dreams and little cruelties . Which is sad due to Willy not responding with the
same love he once had for her. Throughout the play you can begin to notice Willy s changes and that
he needs to stop putting so much pressure on himself to try and achieve the American Dream. He
begins to show signs such as I suddenly couldn t drive any more. The car kept going off onto the

Carcraft
Direction
Carcraft failed due to lack of innovation and transparency
Introduction
Carcarft was the seventh leading second hand car dealer in the United Kingdom with 550 employees.
It operated ten forecourts in locations such as Newport, Lakeside, Leeds, Sheffield, Trafford Center
and Wednesbury among others (Callander, 2015). The Rochdale based company was established in
1951 as a family business; in 1998, it was bought by Noel and Darren McKnee from their father; the
two brothers sold the business later. The company sold 12,000 used cars at its brick and mortar stores
in the ten locations every year; however, it continuously made losses resulting to its closure on 30th
April 2015 (Callander, 2015). Apparently, Grant Thornton is the company s ... Show more content on

According to British Broadcasting Corporation s investigations, the company priced one Volkswagen
Golf at £8,792 online and £10,999 in the showroom (2014, p. 1). The strategy used to get customers to
its showrooms intended to sell cars expensively more than the valuation price. Furthermore, the
company used unethical tactics to pressurize customers to buy their used cars. For example, British
Broadcasting Corporation undercover investigations revealed that its sales team promised clients great
deals only after buying a car (2014, p. 2). Occasionally, the sales team did not fully explain the cost of
the car before asking clients to commit to buying it; in this case, the company concealed some
information from clients. Moreover, the company lied to customers that all its cars were inspected by
RAC when in reality RAC only approved the company s inspection process. In addition, RAC
confirmed that it only inspects cars randomly from every branch, but not every car (British
Broadcasting Corporation, 2014, p. 5).

Irish Culture Research Paper
There are many different beliefs that every culture has and different ways that each person is raised to
live their lives. As a teacher it is always important to understand and attempt to respect each persons
culture. One person could be taught that the way that they eat their food can become an insult to
somebody from another culture. Another person can say that they celebrate the birth of Christ with
Christmas when another can argue that they celebrate the begging of the winter solstice instead.
Everyone has a different culture that they live with every day and each culture has a different foods,
traditions, and holiday celebrations.
There are many different foods that the Irish like to eat everyday. They eat meals like stew with soda

For an Irish person they might become agitated if there is no eye contact when they are talking to
someone. This can because the Irish culture has a long standing tradition on keeping eye contact with
the person you are talking to. This shows that the person is listening and is interested in what they are
saying and that they respect the person they are talking with. As a teacher it is important to know this
so that when talking with someone from this culture you are not coming off as rude and telling the
student that you do not care about what they are saying to you. Another cultural tradition that a teacher
might need to know about is how the Irish are relaxed about time. In Ireland time is an approximant
thing and is not something that they are really concerned about. People do things there when they
want to not base it on a time that it has to happen. This can be important to a teacher because it can
affect the students making it to class on time or doing an assignment by the due date. When dealing
with this in a class room the best thing that the teacher can do is to try to teach the student that things
need to be turned in on time and if they are not then the grade will

Successfully Ready For A Softball
How to be Successfully Ready For a Game Softball is a sport that not everyone knows how to be
appropriately dressed for and it s important to receive helpful advice from a person that plays softball.
In this essay you will be learning the basic things a softball player has to do, so she can be dressed
correctly before every game. Getting ready before a softball game can be a little challenging because
there is so much to it then just putting random softball clothes on and then being ready to play. It will
take time to get use to the process of preparing yourself before each game, but you will get a hang of it
the more you do it. If you follow the somewhat difficult process that I will be giving you which
contains 10 steps, and is about a 15 minute process, you will be appropriately dressed and ready for
every softball game. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

game is to have the vital items every softball player has. The clothes you have to have on for a softball
game are sports bra, jersey, softball pants, sliders, and socks. Just by my personal experiences, you
will need to always make sure that you get everything ready the night before the game because it will
help you tremendously with knowing where everything is the day of the game. No one wants to wake
up looking for their uniform and then not being able to find the correct color socks and having to wear
no socks at all or different color socks to the game. Just make sure to have all the clothes needed to

Homeland Security Information Systems Analysis
As stated in the first chapter of the textbook, there are numerous ways homeland security goes about
informing and warning United States citizens on current or future catastrophes and hazards. One way
for people to stay informed on the current risk levels of terrorist attacks is through the Homeland
Security Advisory System, now known as the National Terrorism Advisory System. Sadly, the
information given to the public on these systems can sometimes be difficult for people to locate. As a
result, government agencies have teamed up with cell phone companies to provide an alternative, and
more accessible way to keep the public informed of not just current risks of terrorism but also useful
news updates. To better elaborate, according to one article, as of 2016 all smart phones now have the
capability to give the carrier real time warnings on tornados, hurricanes, flooding in the area, traffic

source, people who use twitter can now select the option of getting minute to minute updates sent
straight to their phone on information on public emergency s (Biersdorfer, 2016). All the cell phone
holder has to do is select an agency, for example, the Department Homeland Security, and the
Department will send them the same updated information that would be posted on the National

thinks the start up costs and operating expenses would be no higher than for a single store operation.
Mr. Paul has two friends in mind that he would think would be a great partner to operate the franchise.
Two of his friends will purchase a minority equity position of the franchise and it would be a great
help for Mr. Paul because he would have additional capital.
City A, B or Both There are two existing locations that are available for Mr. Paul. One of the stores is

disadvantages. Store that is located in City A is currently in franchise operation but the owner is
planning to sell the franchise on the market due to family problems. Size of the store is inexpertly
smaller than he has imagined. However, many people describe the location as the only good retail
location in the city. On the other hand, the store in City B is located in one of the newest malls in an
area surrounded by upscale housing and extensive development. In term of size, store in City B is
much bigger compare to the store in City A. Mr. Paul is certain that both of these stores would be well
above his expectation for start up operations. He also owns a house in City B and he is willing

Potential Of Microbial Fuel Cells
Potential of Microbial Fuel Cells
A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy by the
catalytic and metabolic reactions of microorganisms. The microorganisms function as a catalyst in the
electron transfer between the electrodes. A MFC is just like any other fuel cell in its function which
can undergo a half cell reaction. A typical microbial fuel cell consists of anode and cathode
compartments separated by a cation (positively charged ion) permitting specific membrane. At the
anode, the organic matter or substrate is oxidized by microorganisms, generating CO2, electrons and
protons. Electrons are transferred to the cathode through an external electric circuit, while protons are
transferred to the cathode through the membrane. Electrons and protons react in the cathode,
combining with oxygen to form water.
A simple REDOX reaction takes place in the fuel cell. The rate of the reactions can depend on the
internal resistance, bacteria, substrate, semi permeable membrane and electrode configuration. The
basic reactions that occur when microorganisms consume a substrate such as sugar in the presence of
O2 they produce CO2 and H2O. But, when oxygen is not present they produce CO2, H+ and e .
At Anode,
C12H22O11 +13H2O → 12CO2 + 48H+ + 48e−
At Cathode,
O2 + 4e− + 4H+ → 2H2O
The applications of MFC s are that, they can be used for electricity generation, bio hydrogen
production, wastewater treatment and bioremediation. While

The Minerva System
1. What has been your involvement in Beuth? Honestly, my initial reaction to the minerva meetings
was that I was surprised about the meetings because I really did not see the point in just voting for
events. The very first meeting was where many people people came and a lot of upperclassmen came
as well and they were the ones who mostly introduced the events and I did not know a whole lot about
the minerva system. Initially, the meaning of minerva houses is oblivious to most incoming freshman

families if they had any questions about this college and most of the families wanted to know more

who attend the meeting it is a safe place so even the shiest people can participate. The first minerva
meeting that I observed was how the minerva system works and realized that it was a pretty simple
process of getting an idea approved. I have observed that minerva meetings are places where students
are encouraged to take action on an event that they are thinking about everyone is given an equal
chance. What has always stuck with me about the meetings is that all clubs and students are
encouraged to work together when they come up with the same events and make it even better and not
outdo each other. I have had a first hand experience of this because the club that I am involved in
wanted to do a week long event on the Syrian Refugee Crisis and we had it planned and someone also
said that the he/she wanted to to do a dinner and discussion on this event so we said that we have also
thought about this and we were informed that the minerva aren t a place for competition and rather we
should combine our ideas and maybe join together and this was a great learning experience for me and
others. My friend and I decided to propose an event to the minerva council about an international
talent night to the council so they suggested some ways to just as best time, performer groups and
other ideas for this event and this really

Essay Correctional Theory
INTRODUCTION Rehabilitation is firmly entrenched in the history of corrections in the United
States. Penitentiaries, for example were formed in 1820 with the belief that offenders could be morally
reformed (Cullen, Jonson, 2012, pp. 27 28). In 1870). The National Congress on Penitentiary and
Reformatory Discipline documented the merits of rehabilitation (Wines, 1871, p. 457). However, by
the end of the 1960s, the United States had experienced several years of discontent within its prison
systems which resulted in a national call for prison reform and the development of a disillusionment
with rehabilitation (Martinson, 1974, p. 22). In 1966, Robert Martinson was hired to evaluate the
effectiveness of rehabilitation, the result of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By utilizing correctional policies and practices that are not built upon evidence based theories, we risk
not only imposing ineffective treatments on offenders, we risk increasing an offender s criminality (p.
3). This is especially disconcerting when one considers the potential harm to which we are exposing
society upon the offender s release (Latessa, Cullen, Gendreau, 2002, p. 44). Evidence based
corrections would implement rehabilitation policies, as research shows it to be the greatest opportunity
to significantly impact crime as it addresses what is known to both cause and reduce criminality
(Cullen, Jonson, 2012, p. 11). Inherent in the ideals of effective rehabilitation are the identification of
criminogenic risk factors (i.e., correlates of criminality) such as aggression, and the establishment of
individualized evidence based treatments which address them (p. 30). In other words, offenders offend
for different reasons and until we target those reasons with empirically sound treatments and
interventions, we cannot hope for successful rehabilitation. Worse yet, by utilizing one size fits all
treatments, we risk exposing them to criminogenic risk factors, further exacerbating their criminal
propensities (p. 12). Ultimately, the importance of evidence based corrections cannot be overstated for
it is through careful evaluation of empirically sound data that we learn how to maximize the
effectiveness and efficiency of the correctional system as well as the

Unit 2 Research Essay
24 October 2016 The Renaissance painter, sculptor, and poet Michelangelo is famous not only for his
painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel or his sculpture of the Biblical King David, but he also
created another Biblical figure, the Hebrew Prophet Moses. The sculpture was commissioned by Pope
Julius II, in an attempt to mirror his larger than life reputation and personality. Michelangelo Moses
along with other pieces of sculpture and artwork were to be enshrined in the Pope s planned resting
place, with the Moses statue placed opposite of another figure of Saint Paul. However, it would never
come to be, as the Moses sculpture would not be completed until more than 30 years after Pope Julius
death in 1513. Pope Julius II had commissioned Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel as well as
build his entire tomb, but the chapel frescos occupied all of the painter s time (Michelangelo
Gallery.com). However, once the Sistine Chapel frescos were finally completed Michelangelo
immediately resumed his work on Moses, completing it in 1545. This sculpture marks a significant
innovation, combining sculpturing and architecture for the first time in his career. Completed out of
nothing but marble, the Moses became one of Michelangelo s crowning achievements along with the
Sistine Chapel frescos and his sculpture of David. It was placed on the second tier of Pope Julius II s
tomb which is housed in the church of San

Schools Should Not Have Dress codes
Between 2009 and 2010 19% of schools required uniforms and 57% of schools enforce a strict dress

think by having strict dress codes are safer and keep the focus on education, but enforcing a strict

Paradox Of Meno And Meno
The Paradox of Inquiry is also known as Meno s Paradox, there are a few interpretations to this
dialogue which can appear to be quite challenging to understand. In the Paradox, Socrates and Meno
are inquiring into the term virtue and what the definition of virtue might be. Socrates postulates three
possible options of acquiring knowledge in the Meno; finding out for yourself, learning from someone
else or by a divine inspiration. My thesis is that .......
Meno questions Scorates about how he will search for virtue and know what it is MENO: How will

Therefore, knowledge does dissolve the paradox and belief doesn t according to Socrates. Pre existing
knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know
things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the
other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the
paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information.
Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go
through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that
our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a
slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who
appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives
a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right
answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past
experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own.
Therefore, we have pre existing information in our souls and it is only a matter of remembering past
information.
It may seem as though Socrates dissolved the paradox of inquiry

Lady Of Shalott Comparison
The selections in this Echo: The Quest for an Ideal, all present alike themes in various perspectives.
The theme, reaching for a goal we desire to achieve can encourage us to grow and evolve, although, if
that goal is for perfection the outcomes can be devastating, is displayed in multiple selections. Two
selections that will be explored are the poem The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Tennyson and the song
Candle in the Wind by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. These selections provide sufficient evidence to
support the overall theme of The Quest for an Ideal.

This song is a eulogy that was written for Marilyn Monroe after her tragic passing due to an overdose.

she was under in order to achieve her goal of fame. Marilyn Monroe was told to change her name
from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe in order to become the perfect person that everyone wanted her

discontentment in her life which led to her untimely death, a devastating consequence of reaching for

and was what many considered to be perfect, she had no one around her to give her support and when
times were hard she had no one that she could rely on. To the outside world, it seemed like Marilyn
Monroe was the essence of perfection, but, she had her demons and felt lonesome in her own life. This
again is a devastating consequence of having a goal of perfection. A lyric of the song, And pain was
the price you paid, summarizes the theme of the unit as while she was reaching to obtain her goal of
perfection, in the end all she felt was pain and loneliness. The result of Marilyn Monroe s goal of
perfection was ultimately destructive as it was a factor in her

Native American Boarding Schools During the Westward Expansion
People know about the conflict between the Indian s cultures and the settler s cultures during the
westward expansion. Many people know the fierce battles and melees between the Indians and the
settlers that were born from this cultural conflict. In spite of this, many people may not know about
the systematic and deliberate means employed by the U.S. government to permanently rid their new
land of the Indians who had lived their own lives peacefully for many years. There are many strong
and chilling reasons and causes as to why the settlers started all of this perplexity in the first place.
There was also a very strong and threatening impact on the Native Americans ... Show more content

These native peoples, first mislabeled as Indians by an explorer named Christopher Columbus, divided
themselves into many different tribes, each with its own government, language, traditions and
religions. Europeans, who slowly poured into the Indian s land, did not respect the Indians beliefs,
interrupted their peaceful life and would do almost anything to get the land to them selves. The settlers
also believed the land that both the Indians and the settlers lived on was theirs to themselves. They
began to push the Native Americans off of their own land. Many of them fought back to keep their
homes, some succeeded, some didn t.
By the 1800 s most of the Native Americans signed a treaty with the European American government.
The results left the Native Americans on small pieces of land called reservations in exchange for their
land and peace. The European Americans promised that they would give the Indians living on the
reservations food, water, money and education for the children. Most of these promises were not kept.
White man s schooling of the Native Americans helped cause the disintegration of the beliefs, customs
and ways of life of the natives residents of Turtle Island . One of the sources that helped their culture
vanish, not completely, were the Native American boarding schools. The boarding schools put the

Analysis Of The Negro Question And John Stuart Mill
Carlyle and Mill And Their Differences Of Opinion On Nature, Agriculture, and Humanity
Thomas Carlyle s Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and John Stuart Mill s responding
essay, The Negro Question, primarily deal with the implications of a liberated black population in the
West Indies. However, the texture of their respective arguments lends itself to rhetoric of nature and
agriculture. Carlyle and Mill could not see humanity s relationship with nature more differently. Due
to different understandings of humanity s relationship with nature,
Carlyle and Mill s evaluation of agricultural productivity varies, thus informing their representation of
blacks in the West Indies.

Instead, Mill derives satisfaction from nature s action, citing its
spontaneous activity as the source of his enjoyment. In this sense, it could be suggested that
Mill sees the betterment of humanity as tethered to the betterment in nature, as increased action from
nature provides increased satisfaction to humanity. Unlike Carlyle, this sets up humanity s relationship
with nature as mutual, if not subservient. To Mill, it is essential that humanity aids and works with
nature, rather than extract from it.
The differences in Carlyle and Mill s understandings of nature reflect themselves in their represented
approaches to agriculture in Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and The
Negro Question, respectively. Carlyle sees agriculture as the system capable of producing items that
are valuable to humans. Mill, on the other hand, recognizes agriculture as an ongoing and hopefully
mutually beneficial relationship between earth and human. Their differences in opinions are best
represented in their respective treatments of commodities and land use.
Throughout the Occasional Discourse Carlyle harps on the shame of cultivating pumpkins. In fact,
there is a moment in the text when Carlyle uses the phrase merely pumpkinish as a means to belittle
the efforts of the West Indies farmers. Instead of pumpkins,
Carlyle seeks commodities of bright, blaring, obvious value from the West Indies. He emphasizes that

Sweet Home Alabama Songs Analysis
I consider my favorite song to be, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd and believe it has been
my favorite ever since I could understand words. At first the song was only my favorite because it
mentions my dads hometown, Muscle Shoals, and I just thought it was super neat. As I grew older my
dad explained to me the meaning and the story of the song, and I only started to like it more. The song
Sweet Home Alabama was written in the 1970 s as a response to two songs written by Neil Young.
The two songs written by Neil Young were Southern Man and Alabama, and the songs essentially
bashed on the southern people for slowing down the progress of getting rid of segregation. So Lynyrd
Skynyrd decided to write Sweet Home Alabama strictly as a response

Satre s Criticism Of Psychoanlytes
Words (1967) is an autobiography written by Jean Paul Satre. It tells the story of Satre s struggles with
gender polarities during his childhood, and the discovery of his sense of self through writing.
Throughout the entirety of the narrative, Satre s is shown trying to live existentially, which is his
notion of philosophy. The tenets of existentialism that will be included in this essay are the notions of
not living in bad faith , the belief that individuals are essentially free, and that there is no such thing as
the unconscious. Satre s notions of existentialism go against psychoanalytic criticism. Thus in this
essay I shall argue that it is appropriate to use psychoanalytic criticism to analyse Words, particularly
in relation to Satre s relationship with his mother and his grandfather. Psychoanalytic criticism is often
used in literary analysis because of its emphasis on interpretation. Interpretation, which includes the
process of deciphering and analysing, allows the discovery of hidden meanings that can be found in
the literature. Such hidden meanings can be found by either focusing on the literature itself, or on the
author. From the two types of psychoanalytic theories, for this ... Show more content on

take matters into his own hand and took Satre to get his hair cut. Anne Marie s reaction upon seeing
the hair cut surprised Satre s more than anything, as she locked herself in her room to cry (Satre, p.

Gilded Age During The Gilded Age
1880 1928 The Gilded Age in America ranges from 1880 to 1928 and can be understood simply by
acknowledging that the wealthy dominated the poor in all aspects of life. American history during the
Gilded Age can be further examined particularly in two ways, socially and economically. Establishing
the understanding and connection between protection of the people, the type of government being
practiced, and the concept of efficiency will allow for an educated assessment of this time and will
highlight policies and practices that America should be looking at to succeed as it moves forward. At
this time, there was little to no protection of people that were not wealthy business men such as
Andrew Carnegie and William Graham Sumner who both make cases in favor of social Darwinism.
Business men of this time believed that they were wiser than the poor and that if the workers
diligently tried, they could be rich as well(PS26). This was not a valid way to look at how society was
going because of unsafe working conditions and low wages. Large scale business owners held a tight
rein on workers, which in turn led to events like the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire in 1911 where nearly 150
women were killed because they were trapped in a burning building. These women were unable to
leave their workroom because the business owners had locked them in out of fear that the women may
take too long of a break, or steal a shirt they were working on if they had any freedoms in the
workplace. The

Epipen Research Paper
There is no doubt that the study of chemistry has changed the world dramatically. Under the right
circumstances, many advances in the realm of chemistry can save lives. The EpiPen® has been a
wonderful chemical developed tool, aiding in potentially lethal allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis.
It is important to understand what an EpiPen® is, and how it works to one day save a life if necessary.
What will further be discussed is what an EpiPen® is, how it is made, used, and how it works
chemically in the human body.
The EpiPen® is an auto injecting pen made with epinephrine. Epinephrine commonly known as
adrenaline, is a chemical compound with the formula C9H13NO3. Epinephrine is a sympathomimetic
hormone, meaning a hormone that produces physiological effects in the body from the sympathetic
nervous system.2 Epinephrine, or adrenaline is naturally produced in the adrenal medulla. Upon its
release in the body, causes vasoconstriction or the shrinking of blood vessels, stimulates the heart, and

Renewable Energy Is Our Future Energy Sources
Current Events Essay: Renewable Resources Are Our Future Energy Sources
Renewable energy resources are our future energy sources and great strides are being made by using
these energy applications to improve the environmental impact towards protecting Earth. Hossain,
K.A. writes in The Journal of Fundamental Renewable Energy and Applications that there are
basically three sources of energy: fossil fuel, nuclear fuel, and renewable fuel sources (Hossain).
Fossil fuels are being used up, nuclear fuel must be created, but renewable fuel can be regenerated.
Renewable energy includes select natural resources, recyclable materials, alternative fuels, bio
refineries, solid biomass, and innovative clean energy (Maczulak). Sources of renewable energy are
being used to convert wind, geothermal, hydropower, ocean, biomass, and solar energy into electricity
that can be used to power our world. Renewable energy is constantly being replenished (Hossain).
Renewable energy is available in plenty and by far most the cleanest sources of energy available on
this planet (Hossain). Progress is being made in each of the areas of renewable energy to improve it
and make it usable and accessible to the general public.
Undoubtedly, the study of natural energy and renewable energy has been around for centuries,
nevertheless we are currently seeing tremendous growth in innovations and availability of renewable
energy. The discovery of electricity dates back to Benjamin Franklin, however

Reflection Paper On My Writing Process
Reflective Memo
Description of my Writing Process
In my writing process, pre writing was my initial step where I had to find the narrative to write. I had
numerous stories in my mind, but I had to get the best, which draws inspiration to me, and the one that
could teach valuable lessons to my audience. So, I had to refer from that childhood memory regarding
the most significant narrative. However, I had to build up on the story. Therefore, I had to use the
myth worksheet issued at class, to make sure that my story meets all the course requirements.
Apparently, I had to make some changes (revise) the narrative, to deliver the most intended life lesson
to my audience. That is when I decided to plan and structure on what to write down in particular.
The actual writing was my second step, where I had to start writing my draft. However, I had several
challenges at this phase, such as word count, grammar issues, among others. Apparently, I had to write
several rough copies of my narrative. Again, I had to get the best time and location to eliminate any
potential distractions. In fact, at this stage, I had no confidence with my narrative on whether it will
convey a relevant meaning to my audience.
But now the writing process was advancing well, and I started revising my paper. When revising my
narrative, I had to adapt A.R.R.R.R approach where, I had to add some words, rearrange my
paragraphs and sentences to consider flow, pacing, and sequencing of my story. Again, I had to
remove the irrelevant parts, considering whether the reader will acquire the required message. Finally,
replacing them with the relevant words and phrases.
My final step was editing and proofreading. At this phase, I had to check for clarity, grammar,
repetition, punctuation, and spelling. Editing and proofreading were detailed processes since they were
the last step in my writing process. At this moment, I had gained confidence in my paper, since I had
read it several times, affirming that it made some sense. Furthermore, I gave it to my friend who is a
professional to proofread, and he assured me that the paper was sensible.
Revising the Narrative
Apparently, I had to review my story to convey the message swiftly. In the initial story,

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy For Insomnia

while 10 to 15 percent say they have chronic insomnia (Rivas, Anthony). Many people suffer from
acute to chronic insomnia, an illness which affects the body and mind and often stems from a larger
problem. However, this illness can be cured through pharmaceutical measures, cognitive behavioral
therapy, and/or complementary and alternative medicines. Treatment may vary for each person, so it is
important for one to talk with a doctor about what may work best for them. Insomnia comes in two
types, onset and maintenance. Onset insomnia is where an individual has difficulty falling asleep and

For those who are seeking treatment without the help of sleeping pills, a form of cognitive behavioral
therapy may be the right method for them. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, often called
CBT I, is an approved method for treating insomnia without the use of sleeping pills (Cognitive).
Focusing on the cognitive aspect of insomnia as a treatment solution is much like trying to find the
underlying cause of what is keeping the individual awake at night. This type of therapy involves
regular meetings and follow ups with a doctor who will closely evaluate the person s changing sleep
habits while making changes as needed to fit that person s needs until they get to the point where they
can sleep regularly. Some changes that are recommended by the staff of Mayo Clinic may include
stimulus control therapy or improving the sleep environment. Stimulus control therapy is the act of
training your mind to associate your bedroom with sleeping rather than lying awake or working. It
may be helpful to not lie in bed on the phone or watch T.V at night because those could be distractions
to the mind that are keeping the body awake. Improving the sleeping environment can aid the body to
get in sleep mode . Sleeping could be improved by doing simple tasks such as adjusting the room
temperature, making the room darker, or eliminating noise can also put the mind at ease for a restful
night of sleep (Mayo Clinic Staff). CBT is not a quick cure by any means; however, it can be very
successful and long lasting if a person is able to stick with it. A sleep diary is important in CBT as well
so that the doctor can assess the person s changes and they can see the changes as

Marxist Reading Of A Doll s House
Since the love of money appears to be a strong characteristic in Nora, usually the decisions that she
takes are on the base of the influence of getting economic benefits. Nora borrows money secretly and
with forgery (by any mean) from someone in order to afford a trip to Italy to help Helmer when he
was sick; she works hard to pay for the loan. Here, an evidence of a Marxist characteristic appears.
While talking with Kristine about the consequences of the allowance she has and the trip, Nora says,
How lovely to think of that, Kristine! Carefree! To know that you are carefree, utterly carefree (. . .) it
is so marvelous to live and be happy! (Ibsen 1718). It is evident that Nora associates the acquisition of
wealth with freedom and the only way to be happy. In addition, it gives the Helmers another status
within the social order since they did not have enough money at the beginning. At this point of the
play, she thinks that money can make her happy, but at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Two elements are important in his perception of society. The first one is the repeated idea of the
relationship between freedom and money. When Nora suggests Helmer to borrow money in case they
need more, he replies exaltedly, No debts! Never borrow! Something of freedom s lost and something
of beauty, too from a home that s founded on borrowing and debt (Ibsen 1711). He evidently thinks
that the independence of someone has its base in the economic solvency. The second element is the
steadiness that riches cause in their daily life. The attitude in which Helmer talks about his new job is
interesting, he says to Nora, It s so gratifying to know that one s gotten a safe, secure job, and with a
comfortable salary (Ibsen 1712), Helmer words reflect that his happiness relays on the assurance of
material things. Therefore, both elements reflect again the Marxist tenet that relationships are
undermined by economic

Physical Storage Media Such As Usb Drives And External Hdds
physical storage media such as USB drives and external HDDs. If students backup work to personal
backup systems regularly their should be no issues with consistency but if students neglect to backup
work every time it is changed then them being in charge of their own backup would ne unpractical
because in the event of data loss they could not backup to the most recent version of the file.
There also arises an issue of students bringing their own storage media which as well as external
storage devices includes the student s device itself. It is possible that the student s devices have
become corrupted with various issues such as, worms, virus, adware and spyware. Depending on the
conditions, the network connection may create an environment for the malware to spread to other
devices and cause multiple infections. However an advantage of this would be the school would not

File types would become an issue when students are using a range of freeware on their devices. Rather

Comparative Analysis of Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? by William Shakespeare and The
Flea by John Donne
Shall I compare thee by Shakespeare focuses on romantic love, whereas Donne s poem, The Flea is all
about seduction and sexual love.
The situations in the two poems are very different. In Shall I compare thee , the poet is shown as a
lover who is addressing his lady. His tone is gentle and romantic. He starts with a rhetorical question
to which he must answer and therefore he does not put demand upon the lady. The poem gives the

Both poets use a three part argument although Shakespeare s is in the form of a sonnet whilst Donne s
is a three stanza poem. Shakespeare s poem is a sonnet and consists of three quatrains and a rhyming
couplet. The first two quatrains start with the rhetorical question Shall I compare thee… and the rest
of this section answers this question. However, this question has an obvious answer of no because the
next line says,
Thou art more temperate and beautiful .
The poet thinks she is perfect, unlike a summer s day. He says that the summer s day is sometime to
hot and has rough windes , but she is more lovely . He uses personification in the line,
And often is his gold complexion dim d .
He uses this technique to show that the sun has a face, which glows, but not always and therefore
shows that summer is not perfect, but she is. He describes her as being temperate which means that
she is moderate compared to the temperamental weather of an English summer. This is one of the
things he says to compliment her.
The third quatrane starts with the word but , which signals a change to a different thought. In this
quatrane, Shakespeare uses exaggerated claims to show how perfect she is. He says,
Thy eternal Sommer shall not fade, nor lose possession of that faire thou ow st .
Here, he is explaining how much better than a summer s

Clash Of Kings Symbolism
A Clash of Kings
Was there ever a war where only one side bled? (118) This perspicuous question was raised by George
R.R. Martin, an epic fantasy writer and author of the New York Times bestselling novel, A Clash of
Kings. I chose this novel because I appreciate merciless world building novels such as Beowulf or
Lord of the Rings. Moreover, this novel is the second of the legendary book series known as A Song
of Ice and Fire. This story takes place in a medieval setting with potential for an endless amount of
possibilities. The novel predominately focuses on a variety of families that all share the common goal
of sitting on the Iron Throne. The story is presented from nine separate points of view, eight of them
coming from characters with a royal background. Each character has a remarkable in depth backstory
and a unique reason for their placement in the War of the Five Kings. The majority of the story occurs
in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, where the Lannisters and the Iron Throne are located. The other
portions of the novel take place in Winterfell with House Stark, Castle Black with Jon Snow, and
Essos with Daenerys Targaryen. The novel picks up immediately where its predecessor, A Game of
Thrones, concluded with King Robert Baratheon s death and the Lord of Winterfell, Eddard Stark s,
execution. Accompanied by King Baratheon and his Hand s death, the position of King was unsecure.
Subsequently, rulers of different origins rise up in an attempt to conquer the Seven

Analysis Of Charles Finney s The Reality Of Free Will
Lane describes Charles Finney as one of the early Evangelicals. Born in 1792, he began preaching and
later holding unconventional revivals in 1824. Finney stressed the reality of free will, meaning that
man has a choice in the matters of sin. God tells us what is right and threatens us with sanctions, but
the choice is ours (pp. 253 254). The weakness of Evangelical approach, according to Lane, is that the
evangelist tries to bring about an instantaneous decision of the will rather than a radical change of
character which in one sense is a life long process. Obviously, Lane s insistence that Finney s system
holds that the will is totally unconditioned and random seems to show an opinion that reveals a
creeping of moral relativism. Lane insists that Finney held morality to be either/or acts of will, this in
opposition the Lane s concept that morality is a cultivation of moral character (p. 254). Finney is also
noted by Lane as not believing in the concept of original sin due to his stand on infants not having a
sinful nature. However, Finney acknowledges that as the infant develops reaching an age of moral
accountability sin is a certainty. In this, I think the weakness Lane points out in Evangelicals is, of
itself, weak. Augustine, an early church father in 354, viewed and argued that humans can live sinless
lives through their natural endowments and are responsible to do so. It s the catalyst that set off the
great controversy over original sin, free will, and

Advantages Of Steganography
Abstract Steganography means secret communication. It can also be defined as the study of invisible

Here we briefly describe the LSB matching revisited based on adaptive steganography. In 2010 Weiqi
Luo et al. [20] proposed an edge adaptive scheme which select the regions for embedding according to
the size of secret message and the difference between two successive pixels in the cover image. For
lesser embedding rates, simply sharper edge regions are used while keeping the other smoother
regions as they are. When the embedding rate enhances, more edge regions can be released adaptively
for data hiding by modifying just a few parameters. LSB matching revisited (LSBMR)[4] considers a
pair of pixels as an embedding component, in which the LSB of the first pixel embeds one bit of secret
message, and the relationship (odd even combination) of the two pixel values carries another bit of
secret message. The modification rate of pixels can decrease from 0.5 to 0.375 bits/pixel (bpp) in the
case of a maximum embedding rate, meaning lesser changes to the cover image at the same payload
compared to LSB replacement and LSB matching. It has been shown that such a scheme can avoid the
LSB replacement style asymmetry, and thus it should make the detection slightly more difficult than
the LSB matching scheme. The approach consist of two parts embeddding and extraction. The
embedding part first initializes some parameters, which are used for successive data preprocessing and
region selection, and then estimates the capacity of selected regions. If the regions are big enough for
hiding the secret message , then data hiding is performed on the selected regions. Then,it does some
postprocessing to get the stego image. Otherwise the scheme needs to revise the parameters, and then

Bartleby Totalitarianism
The Narrator in Bartleby the Scrivener makes a point to describe the setting and its interactions with
the characters to Elucidate not only the question of Free Will but to create Melville s indictment of
labor within the structure of Capitalism. The Concept of Free Will and necessity play an important
role in constructing the universe and laws therein. They not only aid in structuring the plot and how a
thing occurs in a fictional universe. They give insight to the author s view of the world and are
recurring themes in Herman Melville s work. The concept of Free Will and necessity allow for an
immediate change in the moral paradigm and give Melville a platform and structure with which to
create his indictment of labor and Capitalism. In Bartleby the Schrivener, he mentions two
Necessitarian philosophers from a Christian background. The two works by these philosophers and
Necessitarianism in general give a unique perspective as to what Melville is trying to convey in this
story. They construct a world not of possibilities, but of rigidity and lacking in the traditional
conception of freedom.
In, Bartleby the Schrivener, the narrator mentions two works on Free Will and ... Show more content

As Bartleby maintains his preferences he ignores necessity. The humdrum and monotony of life are
required to eat, have social engagement, and sustain the necessities of life. These necessities lead to a
softer deterministic world that Melville traditionally works in. In, Bartleby the Schrivener, this sets up
a world where you must act in accordance with obtaining these necessities, meaning you must work,
suffer daily annoyances to eat and be sheltered. These things are simple. However, they limit freedom
of choice and constrict Free Will in Bartleby. This is not only indicative through the preferences of
Bartleby; but through the interactions of all the characters in

The Causes Of Prejudice In C. P. Ellis By Terkel
A terrible experience during the eighth grade has caused me to become prejudiced against Koreans,
and believed that they were the most avaricious race of people. Since then this has prompted me to
develop a negative notion towards them. During my middle school years, my parents would give my
brother and I lunch money for school on a daily basis. Every day after class, we would have to walk to
our house which was quite distant from our school. One day, we decided to stop by a store on our way
home because we were dying of thirst. After we selected one drink that we agreed to share and went to
the counter, we realized that we were short five cents. The store owner told us that we could not
purchase the drink unless we had the exact amount of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a child is brought up in a family with parents who are openly racist, for example, he or she may
might find that they are influenced into being prejudiced against other races themselves. In the same
way, the story of Ellis relates to this theory described by Parrillo. Ellis father acted as a member of the
Ku Klux Klan. Growing up around his father and being exposed to his negative views and attitudes
towards the blacks eventually instilled in Ellis a natural propensity to be prejudice against them
(Terkel 222).Ellis explicitly states The natural person for me to hate would be black people, because
my father was a member of the Ku Klux Klan (Terkel 224). The socialization process plays an
important role on Guam. Growing up, my siblings and I were taught to show reverence to our elders
by Amening or simply kissing them on the cheek. After continually practicing this deed, I often find
myself automatically just amening any elderly whether they are Chamorro or not. In fact, when I see
younger children not practicing this value I tend to consider them being disrespectful, and

Sofonisba Anguissola Research Paper
From some of the most powerful and inspiring women artists, it is natural to mention this woman, as
she was the first Renaissance woman artist to achieve fame in the 16th century. (Kuiper) Sofonisba
Anguissola is someone that I think is inspiring because of her accomplishment of becoming famed for
art in the Renaissance era but as managed to sell her paintings in a clever way. She achieved fame and
set an example throughout her life for up and coming future artists through the centuries. Sofonisba
Anguissola was born in the 1532 in Cremona, Italy and lived for 93 years, until she died in November
of 1625. She was lucky to be born into a wealthy family, where she was the oldest of the six siblings
where she lived a comfortable life in Spain.

Comparison Between Incarceration And Recidivism
Incarceration in my opinion is not a deterrent to recidivism. When someone is placed into an
environment that is surrounded by those who have committed crimes ranging from selling marijuana
to first degree murder, there is a bad recipe for change. People adapt to their surrounds and someone
for example that is in prison or jail for a minor offense may room with someone who murdered a
family. The mindset of someone selling marijuana isn t usually as immoral as someone who murdered.
If you placed a person with a little bit of morals left into an environment which none are really to be
found they will slowly lose those morals. The person adapts and beings to feel as though it is normal
to think and feel a specific way. A study done by the Department

Speech On Safety Of Students And Teachers
The Safety of Students and Teachers All around the world thousands of people are dying from selfless
acts of terrorists along with misunderstood children taking their lives along with the people around
them in their school. In one school police took 20 minutes to show up to the scene, why not have this
be stopped sooner? What can we do about this situation to make it better? Armed guards should be
placed in all schools around the world. First off, school shootings and threats are becoming more and
more common in schools around the world. Many children and teachers are being shot, many dying
and others with very serious injuries when they have done nothing wrong. Wayne LaPierre from U.S.
News states The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. I find this
statement true because most people that have a gun and see a police officer with a gun will get rid of
theirs because they fear the outcome. Secondly, the armed guards are only told to use their weapons in
situations like school shootings. Some parents and other citizens are fearing that the armed guards are
using their weapons to threaten the students and scare them. Mo Canady, Executive director of the
National Association of school resource officers stated We re not talking about officers walking
around with this strapped on all day long, but certainly to have reasonable access to defend against a
really bad situation This quote proves that officers aren t using the weapons

T. Y. Molly Case Study
Indianapolis Colts number one wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is expected to miss one or two games after he
bruised his left knee during the team s 27 14 road loss to the Buffalo Bills in their season opener on
Sunday. Colts owner Jim Irsay officially announced the setback after the game, as per Yahoo Sports.
Hilton was playing superbly, catching 7 of 14 passes for 88 yards to lead his team in receiving, when
he was taken out of the game in the third quarter. Touched my knee (Sunday) and it was really numb,
Hilton said. I felt a lot of swelling. It blew up on me real fast. Just hurting, sore to the touch. Backup
Donte Moncrief ably filled in for the 25 year old wideout, going 6 of 11 for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Still, Indianapolis came up short and suffered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ESPN reported that an MRI confirmed Hilton only suffered a knee bruise and there are no structural
damages to the former Florida International standout s knee, which means his status would be day to
day . Indianapolis next game would be at the Lucas Oil Stadium versus the New York Jets on Monday
and the Miami native is reportedly keen on playing that night. Monday night speaks for itself, he said.
Everybody is watching Monday night, so it means a lot, especially going against a great Jets defense.
It s one I really don t want to miss. However, the final decision is still on Pagano, who could elect to
use Moncrief to extend Hilton s rest and recovery. Rookie wideout Phillip Dorsett, one of Pagano s
trusty players, could also be in for extended minutes if Hilton would not be allowed to play against the
Jest. Dorsett played a little shaky in his debut last Sunday, fumbling two punts and losing one but had

Visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame Essay
The busts of hundreds of players, managers, coaches, umpires, and baseball pioneers occupy the
hallowed halls of a quiet building located in Cooperstown, New York. Thousands of fans travel to this
building, otherwise noted as the National Baseball Hall of Fame, each year to get a glimpse of
baseball s immortalized heroes. Hundreds of sportswriters across the nation weed out numerous hall of
fame hopefuls once a year and cast their votes on who will be enshrined in Cooperstown and who will
merely be a statistic of the Great American Pastime. These sports writers examine a player or coach s
career with extreme meticulousness. Not one player in the Baseball Hall of Fame is undeserving,

Steroids are Available Cal Ripken, Jr. and Tony Gwynn are two of the newest additions to
Cooperstown. Both men posted impressive, record holding careers; however, they were not
unanimously voted into the hall of fame because they played in an era where steroids were supposedly
present in locker rooms across Major League Baseball. Not once was either player penalized for or
even accused of using steroids. But they are guilty by association and were slapped with the steroid
label. Barry Bonds clearly used steroids prior to or during his remarkable 73 homerun season
considering he averaged just below 40 a year during his career, Right? I don t think so!
One time record holder, Roger Maris rarely hit 30 home runs in a season then busted out 61 in 1961,
to take the home run crown from the Sultan of Swat, Babe Ruth. However, no one can ever recall
accusing clean cut, hard working, Roger Maris of using steroids, but why? Why is it possible for
Roger Maris to have a once in a lifetime, dream season, yet when a modern athlete has one he was
undoubtedly using steroids.
Players are Being Tested Just like McGwire and Bonds; Roger Maris and Hank Aaron never tested
positive for steroids. The only difference rests in the fact that Maris and Aaron were never tested. It is

True Identity In King Henry IV By William Shakespeare
Usually most of us have an appearance that lies behind another appearance but as we go through life
we either get tired from hiding it or learn that we should always show our true self no matter the
situation we re in. when we don t show our true self, its either because we are afraid of what people
will think of us or change our true it to please others. Shakespeare demonstrate the character s
appearance as two different books combined in one. Shakespeare keep playing constantly with the
characters appearance and misleading the audience. Shakespeare distinguish 3 different types of
appearance in the play. The first and main one is Hal who appear in his true identity in the end, the
second is King Henry IV who had no choice but to hide his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He kept playing the role of innocent, strong and royal but in real he is weak, dishonorable, guilty and
coward. The king had no choice but to wear a mask, because if the people discover who the real king
is and what he did , he might loses his crown and that s his big fears. In the end of the play,
appearances play a crucial role in the Battle of Shrewsbury as King Henry s side dresses up numerous
soldiers in the king s robes to deceive their opponents. Douglas cannot even discern who the real King
Henry is and thinks that he s killed the king when he s actually slain Sir Walter Blunt. The king was in
charge for the death of many real innocent people. The end of the king was to die in guilt for his entire
life. Again Shakespeare shows how the end of someone who try to hide his true self will look

Although, it took much longer than expected, I and my team worked closely with Executive leadership and Procurement leadership to execute a contract for services, which will play an important strategic role in transforming and standardizing the delivery of biomedical services system wide. With the systems and services included in the contract, which as set to begin January 2017, the foundation will be set to recognize and act upon financial opportunities, in real time. The Rochdale based company was established in 1951 as a family business; in 1998, it was bought by Noel and Darren McKnee from their father; the two brothers sold the business later. The company sold 12,000 used cars at its brick and mortar stores in the ten locations every year; however, it continuously made losses resulting to its closure on 30th April 2015 (Callander, 2015). According to British Broadcasting Corporation s investigations, the company priced one Volkswagen Golf at £8,792 online and £10,999 in the showroom (2014, p. 1). The strategy used to get customers to its showrooms intended to sell cars expensively more than the valuation price. Furthermore, the company used unethical tactics to pressurize customers to buy their used cars. For example, British Broadcasting Corporation undercover investigations revealed that its sales team promised clients great deals only after buying a car (2014, p. 2). Occasionally, the sales team did not fully explain the cost of the car before asking clients to commit to buying it; in this case, the company concealed some information from clients. Moreover, the company lied to customers that all its cars were inspected by RAC when in reality RAC only approved the company s inspection process. In addition, RAC confirmed that it only inspects cars randomly from every branch, but not every car (British Broadcasting Corporation, 2014, p. 5). Aspects of the Company that Were ... As a teacher it is always important to understand and attempt to respect each persons culture. One person could be taught that the way that they eat their food can become an insult to somebody from another culture. Another person can say that they celebrate the birth of Christ with Christmas when another can argue that they celebrate the begging of the winter solstice instead. For an Irish person they might become agitated if there is no eye contact when they are talking to someone. This can because the Irish culture has a long standing tradition on keeping eye contact with the person you are talking to. This shows that the person is listening and is interested in what they are saying and that they respect the person they are talking with. As a teacher it is important to know this so that when talking with someone from this culture you are not coming off as rude and telling the student that you do not care about what they are saying to you. Another cultural tradition that a teacher might need to know about is how the Irish are relaxed about time. In Ireland time is an approximant thing and is not something that they are really concerned about. People do things there when they want to not base it on a time that it has to happen. This can be important to a teacher because it can affect the students making it to class on time or doing an assignment by the due date. Homeland Security Information Systems Analysis As stated in the first chapter of the textbook, there are numerous ways homeland security goes about informing and warning United States citizens on current or future catastrophes and hazards. One way for people to stay informed on the current risk levels of terrorist attacks is through the Homeland Security Advisory System, now known as the National Terrorism Advisory System. Sadly, the information given to the public on these systems can sometimes be difficult for people to locate. As a result, government agencies have teamed up with cell phone companies to provide an alternative, and more accessible way to keep the public informed of not just current risks of terrorism but also useful news updates. • 10. Potential Of Microbial Fuel Cells Potential of Microbial Fuel Cells A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy by the catalytic and metabolic reactions of microorganisms. The microorganisms function as a catalyst in the electron transfer between the electrodes. A MFC is just like any other fuel cell in its function which can undergo a half cell reaction. A typical microbial fuel cell consists of anode and cathode compartments separated by a cation (positively charged ion) permitting specific membrane. At the anode, the organic matter or substrate is oxidized by microorganisms, generating CO2, electrons and protons. Electrons are transferred to the cathode through an external electric circuit, while protons are transferred to the cathode through the membrane. Electrons and protons react in the cathode, combining with oxygen to form water. A simple REDOX reaction takes place in the fuel cell. The rate of the reactions can depend on the internal resistance, bacteria, substrate, semi permeable membrane and electrode configuration. The basic reactions that occur when microorganisms consume a substrate such as sugar in the presence of O2 they produce CO2 and H2O. But, when oxygen is not present they produce CO2, H+ and e . At Anode, C12H22O11 +13H2O → 12CO2 + 48H+ + 48e− At Cathode, O2 + 4e− + 4H+ → 2H2O The applications of MFC s are that, they can be used for electricity generation, bio hydrogen production, wastewater treatment and bioremediation. I have observed that minerva meetings are places where students are encouraged to take action on an event that they are thinking about everyone is given an equal chance. What has always stuck with me about the meetings is that all clubs and students are encouraged to work together when they come up with the same events and make it even better and not outdo each other. I have had a first hand experience of this because the club that I am involved in wanted to do a week long event on the Syrian Refugee Crisis and we had it planned and someone also said that the he/she wanted to to do a dinner and discussion on this event so we said that we have also thought about this and we were informed that the minerva aren t a place for competition and rather we should combine our ideas and maybe join together and this was a great learning experience for me and others. My friend and I decided to propose an event to the minerva council about an international talent night to the council so they suggested some ways to just as best time, performer groups and other ideas for this event and this really ... • 13. Essay Correctional Theory INTRODUCTION Rehabilitation is firmly entrenched in the history of corrections in the United States. Penitentiaries, for example were formed in 1820 with the belief that offenders could be morally reformed (Cullen, Jonson, 2012, pp. 27 28). In 1870). The National Congress on Penitentiary and Reformatory Discipline documented the merits of rehabilitation (Wines, 1871, p. 457). However, by the end of the 1960s, the United States had experienced several years of discontent within its prison systems which resulted in a national call for prison reform and the development of a disillusionment with rehabilitation (Martinson, 1974, p. 22). In 1966, Robert Martinson was hired to evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation, the result of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By utilizing correctional policies and practices that are not built upon evidence based theories, we risk not only imposing ineffective treatments on offenders, we risk increasing an offender s criminality (p. 3). This is especially disconcerting when one considers the potential harm to which we are exposing society upon the offender s release (Latessa, Cullen, Gendreau, 2002, p. 44). Evidence based corrections would implement rehabilitation policies, as research shows it to be the greatest opportunity to significantly impact crime as it addresses what is known to both cause and reduce criminality (Cullen, Jonson, 2012, p. 11). Inherent in the ideals of effective rehabilitation are the identification of criminogenic risk factors (i.e., correlates of criminality) such as aggression, and the establishment of individualized evidence based treatments which address them (p. 30). In other words, offenders offend for different reasons and until we target those reasons with empirically sound treatments and interventions, we cannot hope for successful rehabilitation. Worse yet, by utilizing one size fits all treatments, we risk exposing them to criminogenic risk factors, further exacerbating their criminal propensities (p. 12). Ultimately, the importance of evidence based corrections cannot be overstated for it is through careful evaluation of empirically sound data that we learn how to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the correctional system as well as the ... James Loggins Humanities 2210 Unit 2 Research Essay 24 October 2016 The Renaissance painter, sculptor, and poet Michelangelo is famous not only for his painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel or his sculpture of the Biblical King David, but he also created another Biblical figure, the Hebrew Prophet Moses. The sculpture was commissioned by Pope Julius II, in an attempt to mirror his larger than life reputation and personality. Michelangelo Moses along with other pieces of sculpture and artwork were to be enshrined in the Pope s planned resting place, with the Moses statue placed opposite of another figure of Saint Paul. However, it would never come to be, as the Moses sculpture would not be completed until more than 30 years after Pope Julius death in 1513. Pope Julius II had commissioned Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel as well as build his entire tomb, but the chapel frescos occupied all of the painter s time (Michelangelo Gallery.com). However, once the Sistine Chapel frescos were finally completed Michelangelo immediately resumed his work on Moses, completing it in 1545. This sculpture marks a significant innovation, combining sculpturing and architecture for the first time in his career. Completed out of nothing but marble, the Moses became one of Michelangelo s crowning achievements along with the Sistine Chapel frescos and his sculpture of David. Pre existing knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information. Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own. Marilyn Monroe s goal was to be famous and to be the image of perfection, but when she obtained the fame that she believed she wanted, she felt troubled as she felt like she was playing a role and not being true to herself. In the line, And they made you change your name, it displays the pressure that she was under in order to achieve her goal of fame. Marilyn Monroe was told to change her name from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe in order to become the perfect person that everyone wanted her to become. This made her feel as if she was constantly playing a role and lead to a source of discontentment in her life which led to her untimely death, a devastating consequence of reaching for perfection. Another reference to the song is, Never knowing who to cling to, this represents the loneliness in her life when she achieved her goal of fame. Although, she had accomplished her goal and was what many considered to be perfect, she had no one around her to give her support and when times were hard she had no one that she could rely on. To the outside world, it seemed like Marilyn Monroe was the essence of perfection, but, she had her demons and felt lonesome in her own life. This again is a devastating consequence of having a goal of perfection. A lyric of the song, And pain was the price you paid, summarizes the theme of the unit as while she was reaching to obtain her goal of perfection, in the end all she felt was pain and loneliness. The differences in Carlyle and Mill s understandings of nature reflect themselves in their represented approaches to agriculture in Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and The Negro Question, respectively. It tells the story of Satre s struggles with gender polarities during his childhood, and the discovery of his sense of self through writing. Throughout the entirety of the narrative, Satre s is shown trying to live existentially, which is his notion of philosophy. The tenets of existentialism that will be included in this essay are the notions of not living in bad faith , the belief that individuals are essentially free, and that there is no such thing as the unconscious. Satre s notions of existentialism go against psychoanalytic criticism. Thus in this essay I shall argue that it is appropriate to use psychoanalytic criticism to analyse Words, particularly in relation to Satre s relationship with his mother and his grandfather. Psychoanalytic criticism is often used in literary analysis because of its emphasis on interpretation. Interpretation, which includes the process of deciphering and analysing, allows the discovery of hidden meanings that can be found in the literature. Gilded Age During The Gilded Age 1880 1928 The Gilded Age in America ranges from 1880 to 1928 and can be understood simply by acknowledging that the wealthy dominated the poor in all aspects of life. American history during the Gilded Age can be further examined particularly in two ways, socially and economically. Establishing the understanding and connection between protection of the people, the type of government being practiced, and the concept of efficiency will allow for an educated assessment of this time and will highlight policies and practices that America should be looking at to succeed as it moves forward. At this time, there was little to no protection of people that were not wealthy business men such as Andrew Carnegie and William Graham Sumner who both make cases in favor of social Darwinism. Business men of this time believed that they were wiser than the poor and that if the workers diligently tried, they could be rich as well(PS26). This was not a valid way to look at how society was going because of unsafe working conditions and low wages. Large scale business owners held a tight rein on workers, which in turn led to events like the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire in 1911 where nearly 150 women were killed because they were trapped in a burning building. These women were unable to leave their workroom because the business owners had locked them in out of fear that the women may take too long of a break, or steal a shirt they were working on if they had any freedoms in the workplace. However, this question has an obvious answer of no because the next line says, Thou art more temperate and beautiful . The poet thinks she is perfect, unlike a summer s day. He says that the summer s day is sometime to hot and has rough windes , but she is more lovely . He uses personification in the line, And often is his gold complexion dim d . He uses this technique to show that the sun has a face, which glows, but not always and therefore shows that summer is not perfect, but she is. He describes her as being temperate which means that she is moderate compared to the temperamental weather of an English summer. This is one of the things he says to compliment her. The third quatrane starts with the word but , which signals a change to a different thought. In this quatrane, Shakespeare uses exaggerated claims to show how perfect she is. He says, Thy eternal Sommer shall not fade, nor lose possession of that faire thou ow st . Here, he is explaining how much better than a summer s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Clash Of Kings Symbolism A Clash of Kings Was there ever a war where only one side bled? (118) This perspicuous question was raised by George R.R. Martin, an epic fantasy writer and author of the New York Times bestselling novel, A Clash of Kings. I chose this novel because I appreciate merciless world building novels such as Beowulf or Lord of the Rings. Moreover, this novel is the second of the legendary book series known as A Song of Ice and Fire. This story takes place in a medieval setting with potential for an endless amount of possibilities. The novel predominately focuses on a variety of families that all share the common goal of sitting on the Iron Throne. The story is presented from nine separate points of view, eight of them coming from characters with a royal background. Each character has a remarkable in depth backstory and a unique reason for their placement in the War of the Five Kings. The majority of the story occurs in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, where the Lannisters and the Iron Throne are located. The other portions of the novel take place in Winterfell with House Stark, Castle Black with Jon Snow, and Essos with Daenerys Targaryen. The novel picks up immediately where its predecessor, A Game of Thrones, concluded with King Robert Baratheon s death and the Lord of Winterfell, Eddard Stark s, execution. Accompanied by King Baratheon and his Hand s death, the position of King was unsecure. Subsequently, rulers of different origins rise up in an attempt to conquer the Seven ... • 35. Analysis Of Charles Finney s The Reality Of Free Will Lane describes Charles Finney as one of the early Evangelicals. Born in 1792, he began preaching and later holding unconventional revivals in 1824. Finney stressed the reality of free will, meaning that man has a choice in the matters of sin. God tells us what is right and threatens us with sanctions, but the choice is ours (pp. 253 254). The weakness of Evangelical approach, according to Lane, is that the evangelist tries to bring about an instantaneous decision of the will rather than a radical change of character which in one sense is a life long process. Obviously, Lane s insistence that Finney s system holds that the will is totally unconditioned and random seems to show an opinion that reveals a creeping of moral relativism. Lane insists that Finney held morality to be either/or acts of will, this in opposition the Lane s concept that morality is a cultivation of moral character (p. 254). Finney is also noted by Lane as not believing in the concept of original sin due to his stand on infants not having a sinful nature. However, Finney acknowledges that as the infant develops reaching an age of moral accountability sin is a certainty. In this, I think the weakness Lane points out in Evangelicals is, of itself, weak. Augustine, an early church father in 354, viewed and argued that humans can live sinless lives through their natural endowments and are responsible to do so. It s the catalyst that set off the great controversy over original sin, free will, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It can also be defined as the study of invisible communication that is used to hide the existence of the communicated data in such a way that it remains confidential. In steganography, secret data can be communicated in an appropriate multimedia carrier such as image, audio and video files. Steganography can be classified into two types Adaptive steganography and Non adaptive steganography. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. In this paper, we review some adaptive and non adaptive methods of steganography. Keywords Steganography, Adaptive steganography, Non adaptive steganography, LSB, PVD,DWT,MSE,PSNR I. Here we briefly describe the LSB matching revisited based on adaptive steganography. In 2010 Weiqi Luo et al. [20] proposed an edge adaptive scheme which select the regions for embedding according to the size of secret message and the difference between two successive pixels in the cover image. For lesser embedding rates, simply sharper edge regions are used while keeping the other smoother regions as they are. When the embedding rate enhances, more edge regions can be released adaptively for data hiding by modifying just a few parameters. LSB matching revisited (LSBMR)[4] considers a pair of pixels as an embedding component, in which the LSB of the first pixel embeds one bit of secret message, and the relationship (odd even combination) of the two pixel values carries another bit of secret message. The modification rate of pixels can decrease from 0.5 to 0.375 bits/pixel (bpp) in the case of a maximum embedding rate, meaning lesser changes to the cover image at the same payload compared to LSB replacement and LSB matching. It has been shown that such a scheme can avoid the LSB replacement style asymmetry, and thus it should make the detection slightly more difficult than the LSB matching scheme. The approach consist of two parts embeddding and extraction. The embedding part first initializes some parameters, which are used for successive data preprocessing and region selection, and then estimates the capacity of selected regions. If the regions are big enough for hiding the secret message , then data hiding is performed on the selected regions. Then,it does some postprocessing to get the stego image. Otherwise the scheme needs to revise the parameters, and then repeats region selection and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bartleby Totalitarianism The Narrator in Bartleby the Scrivener makes a point to describe the setting and its interactions with the characters to Elucidate not only the question of Free Will but to create Melville s indictment of labor within the structure of Capitalism. The Concept of Free Will and necessity play an important role in constructing the universe and laws therein. They not only aid in structuring the plot and how a thing occurs in a fictional universe. They give insight to the author s view of the world and are recurring themes in Herman Melville s work. The concept of Free Will and necessity allow for an immediate change in the moral paradigm and give Melville a platform and structure with which to create his indictment of labor and Capitalism. In Bartleby the Schrivener, he mentions two Necessitarian philosophers from a Christian background. The two works by these philosophers and Necessitarianism in general give a unique perspective as to what Melville is trying to convey in this story. They construct a world not of possibilities, but of rigidity and lacking in the traditional conception of freedom. In, Bartleby the Schrivener, the narrator mentions two works on Free Will and ... Ellis By Terkel A terrible experience during the eighth grade has caused me to become prejudiced against Koreans, and believed that they were the most avaricious race of people. Since then this has prompted me to develop a negative notion towards them. During my middle school years, my parents would give my brother and I lunch money for school on a daily basis. Every day after class, we would have to walk to our house which was quite distant from our school. One day, we decided to stop by a store on our way home because we were dying of thirst. When someone is placed into an environment that is surrounded by those who have committed crimes ranging from selling marijuana to first degree murder, there is a bad recipe for change. In one school police took 20 minutes to show up to the scene, why not have this be stopped sooner? What can we do about this situation to make it better? Armed guards should be placed in all schools around the world. First off, school shootings and threats are becoming more and more common in schools around the world. Many children and teachers are being shot, many dying and others with very serious injuries when they have done nothing wrong.
