An Essay About Bullying
Writing an essay on this particular topic can be emotionally taxing and intellectually challenging.
It demands a delicate balance between conveying the gravity of the issue while maintaining a
constructive and informative tone. Addressing the various facets of bullying, from its
psychological impact on victims to its societal implications, requires thorough research and
careful articulation.
Moreover, delving into personal anecdotes or case studies adds another layer of complexity, as it
involves handling sensitive material with empathy and respect. Crafting a compelling narrative
that sheds light on the intricacies of bullying without sensationalizing or trivializing the
experiences of those affected is a formidable task.
Furthermore, navigating the vast landscape of existing literature and scholarly discourse on the
subject can be overwhelming, requiring a discerning eye to select relevant sources and synthesize
diverse perspectives effectively. Balancing statistical data, academic theories, and real-life
accounts while maintaining coherence and readability poses a significant challenge.
In essence, writing an essay on this topic demands not only academic rigor but also emotional
intelligence and ethical consideration. It necessitates a deep understanding of the complexities
surrounding bullying and a commitment to fostering awareness and empathy.

Ken Griffey Jr. is a well known name in the world of Major League Baseball. Before
the Seattle Mariners traded Griffey Jr. to the Cincinnati Reds, he was an absolute

Psychology Trauma In Psychology
How trauma in psychology lead to depression. In psychology, trauma is a damage
to the mind that occurs because of a severely distressing event. It is a normal human
response to an abnormal event. Trauma is often the result of an overwhelming
amount of stress that exceeds one s ability to cope or integrate the emotions
involved with that experience. Trauma occurs when a person is overwhelmed by
something beyond their control, while depression is a mood disorder that causes a
persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It is a condition of general
emotional dejection, withdrawal, sadness greater and more prolonged than that
warranted by any objective reason. A traumatic event involves one s experience or

Developing Compassion Essay
a merciless event, it is selfish without even realizing it. Doing good deeds does not
make us a good individual, it just makes us decent. The benefits of generosity for
both our physical and mental health are outstanding. generosity reduces stress,
supports one s physical health, enhances one s sense of purpose, and helps fight
depression, it has also been shown to increase one s lifespan because all the health
benefits of not being stressed. You may think you are being selfless, but you are
also benefiting yourself in a way you did not know about. Developing compassion
increases our happiness. In an experiment published in Science by Harvard
Business School professor Michael Norton, they gave money to; two sets of
groups, one that spent money on themselves and the other spent it on other people.
It was found that the people who bought presents for others showed an increase in
happiness, this was even the case with children giving treats to others. We are
using an unselfish event and making for an ego boost. However, by doing so we
need to become conscious of the world around us. As we develop more of an
awareness we become more concerned about what is going on around us.
Therefore, we carry guilt for simple things like throwing a cigarette on the ground,
we may feel guilty for a bit, but we can always change our actions and help the world
around us. Compassion is simple and uses common sense, it is humble and
straightforward. Being compassionate is difficult for those who
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cyberterrorism
Introduction Prevalent to the current trend now is the dependency of the society on
Information technology and communication systems. Every aspect of human life is
one way or the other linked and controlled by information technology tools. The
importance of information technology cannot be over emphasized as its
unavailability could lead to a form of disaster or the other. Pivotal infrastructures
like finance, healthcare, education and security are driven by information
technology. However, information technology and its benefits are accompanied by
vulnerabilities and risks that can be exploited by people with the necessary
technical skills. Individuals like Hackers and Cyber Terrorist can cause disruption
to information systems, commit financial fraud and also attack computers and
networks. These attacks and disruptions could result to violence against people
and properties. In some cases, death, serious injuries and severe economic loss
could occur as a result of these attacks. What is Cyberterrorism? A lot of opinions
and meanings has been given to the word Cyberterrorism . Some of these meanings
and definitions varies. In this light, Gordon and Ford (2003) are concerned that
when 10 people define cyberterrorism and nine of the given answers are different,
and these 10 people represent different government agencies tasked with
safeguarding national assets and infrastructure, then it becomes a critical issue.
According to Furnell and Warren (1999), Evidence suggests that technology is
growingly seen as a potential tool for terrorist organizations and the widespread use
of information technology by terrorist groups and organizations has led to the birth
of a new class of menace termed Cyberterrorism . Cyberterrorism could be used in
many diverse ways. Sometimes, a country s pivotal infrastructures could be shut
down and harmed using computer network and tools. There have been impediments
in trying to give a clear and concise definition to the term cyberterrorism . But
Denning (2007) which supersedes Denning (2000) gives an unambiguous definition
to cyberterrorism: Cyberterrorism is generally understood to refer to highly damaging
computer based attacks or threats of attack by non state actors against
A Rhetorical Analysis Of Lebron James Commercial
LeBron James starred in Intel s commercial about a car that drives itself. Throughout
the commercial LeBron James talks about being fearless and it all led up to him
being in a car that drove itself and how he had to be fearless to get in the car. The
main points of the commercial are how people are fearless in different ways and how
Intel s new car that drives itself is a way for people to become fearless. Intel uses
pathos, ethos, and logos during its commercial to clearly convince people that the
driverless car is safe. Intel uses pathos effectively to show how people are fearless
and why people should be fearless and ride in the driverless car. Being fearless is an
emotion and LeBron James did a good job talking about how people are fearless

The Risk and Benefits of Outsourcing Supply Chain and Risk Management.
How Boeing 787 Supply Chain Issues Affected Other Industries?
Debates between business professionals regarding risk and benefits of outsourcing is
becoming increasingly heated with particular focus on risks as unanticipated costs,
potential for setbacks, integration difficulties, quality or benefits as minimize overall
cost, focus on other business area, meet customer demand and flexibility. However,
being prepared, done the research properly, hire the right company can bring plenty of
benefits to an organization looking to outsource different aspects of their business.
Rudzki, Smock, Katzorke, and Stewart (2005, pg.8) cover the significant importance
of outsourcing as part of supply chain management and acknowledge the enormous
role on raising customer satisfaction, driving higher profit margins, and fueling
growth otherwise known as increasing company profitability. To understand how the
risks and benefits of outsourcing could affect the company profitability, extended
supply chain and how cost becomes value needs to be study. This paper will examine
Boeing 787 Dreamliner product development and unconventional supply chain

Lauren Kavanaugh Adoption Essay
April 12th of 1993, Sabrina and Bill Kavanaugh would soon adopt a newborn baby
girl , Lauren, from Barbara Calhoun. Eight months into the adoption process, Barbara
called the Kavanaughs, concerning Lauren. She wanted her back. Of course, Sabrina
had every right to question why her birth mother wanted her back, but Calhoun was
only agitated from the amount of money that was already spent on Lauren. The
Kavanaughs lawyer unintentionally failed to file paperwork to contradict Barbara s
parental rights during the adoption process. The adoptive parents had no choice but
to return Lauren back to her mother. ( Lauren Kavanaugh Girlin the Closet Tortured
and Raped ) Sabrina confessed that she knew Barbara was going to abuse her, but
there was no way to prevent it. Through Lauren Kavanaugh s six year battle of
abuse, her case was one of the worst to come out alive. Six years prior to Lauren s
rescuing, the young girl encountered obscene abuse from her mother and stepfather.

Conclusions:
The authors concluded that the treatment with kinesiotaping and PT, continuously for
one week, can provide pain relief experienced with plantar fasciitis better than
treatment with only PT.
Clinical Impression:
Data from this article can directly impact future interventions for patients with plantar
fasciitis. In just a matter of 1 week, kinesiotaping was able to show significantly
reduced pain and thickness of plantar fascia at the insertion. Kinesiotaping should
never be thought of a stand alone intervention; it should complement other
interventions, which the authors also agreed with. The kinesiotaping group also
received ultrasound and electrotherapy. The results from the study emphasize that
taping is a fundamental tool to enhance rehabilitation of musculoskeletal
dysfunctions, at least in a sense of reducing patient

Color Symbolism in Blue Hotel, Black Cat, Night, Alfred Prufrock, Red Wheelbarrow
Symbolism of colors is evident in much of literature. The Blue Hotel by Stephen

J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot, and The Red Wheelbarrowby William Carlos

poetry of literature. When drawing from various modes of psychology, interpretations
of various colors, with emphasis to dream psychology, an analysis of the colors

Blood is the energy coursing through the body and is related to blushing. Red also
represents violent emotional arousal. Red is the color of war, the Roman god
Mars, and of the greatest of the Roman gods, Jupiter. Red is the color of
masculinity and activity. To the Chinese, red represents good fortune. To the
Christian, it denotes Christ s passion. (Fontana 66) Investigating more specifically
dream psychology, red may symbolize sexuality, passion, anger, revolution or
danger. Red being the color of blood, it is the symbol of life, which consequently is
why Hindu and Chinese brides wear red. But, blood may also represent injury or
death. (Ackroyd 253)
Blue is the color of intellect, peace and contemplation. It represents water and
serenity, and symbolizes the sky and infinity. To the Christian, blue is the color of the
Virgin as Queen of Heaven, and denotes faith, compassion and the water used in
baptism. The ancient Greeks and Romans attributed the color blue to Venus, the
goddess of love. (Fontana 66) In reference to dreams, blue represents the collective
unconscious. Alternatively, blue may represent the power of the conscious mind,
while dark blue is associated with depression. (Ackroyd 94)
Combining the power and authority of red with the sanctity and wisdom of blue,
violet s focus is amidst the most mystic of the colors. As a focus for meditation it can
raise consciousness to higher levels. Violet also denotes
Charlotte Bronte Research Paper
The influence of Charlotte Bronte on english literature is still making its mark
today through her works such as Jane Eyre. Just as her sisters did, she drew
inspiration from romantic authors such as William Wordsworth. From when she was
born on April 21st, 1816 to when she died on March 31st, 1855, Charlotte went
through the simplicity of childhood, to scattered education, to falling in love, to
family tragedy, to settling for a life lack of contentedness. The changes in her life
show in the tones of her writing, especially within her second novel, Shirley, which
takes a much less romantic tone.
Beginning life in Thornton, Yorkshire, Charlotte grew up amidst Victorian England
with her sisters Emily, Anne, Maria, and Elizabeth, along with their brother Patrick.
Their father, Reverend Patrick Bronte received a job in Haworth, Yorkshire as
Perpetual Curate following which their mother, Maria Branwell died of what
appeared to be cancer. Charlotte s Aunt, Elizabeth, moved in afterwards in order to

Gravimetric Analysis of a Soluble Sulfate
Abstract Gravimetric analysis describes the methods for finding the chemical
constituent of analyte in a solution through analytical chemistry. This method uses
the mass of solid SO42 , with an unknown quantity and quality, to qualitatively
determine the makeup of the solid SO3 . Two separate experiments with the initial
compounds of BaCl2 and SO42 were put into solution to allow for the BaSO4
precipitate to form. Through filtration and ignition of precipitate containing
ashless papers, the solid masses of BaSO4 were attained. With a gravimetric factor of
1:1, sample 1 resulted in the formation of 0.5874g BaSO4 from 0.4004g of SO42 ,
while sample 2 resulted in the formation of 0.4073g BaSO4 from 0.3985g of SO42 .

hate crime is defined as any act of violence or verbal slashing of a person based upon

determining a hate crime depending upon guidelines in written laws. Hate crimes

Most businesses use more than one way to communicate internally and externally.
This is vital to running a business effectively. Without communication, information
would not get passed on, information that is potentially needed to carry out tasks
within the business. Different methods are used, for example, Phones, letters,
internal post, email and an internal instant messaging system. Most of the methods
listed above are used every single day in the work place, some more often than
others, but either way they both have a high volume usage rate every day. There

Raised Minimum Wage
In a 2015 survey conducted by The New York Times and CBS News, 71% of
people surveyed believed the minimum wage should be raised to $10.10 (Should
The Federal). The minimum wage has been increased by congress 22 times since
1938 and was last updated to $7.25 on July 24, 2009 (Minimum Wage). 3.3% of
workers in the United Statesget paid the minimum wageor lower (Background of). A
federal minimum wage hike would lower povertylevels, decrease spending on
government assistance, and increase productivity in jobs. If the government raised
the minimum wage, then the amount of people in poverty would decline. The
poverty line in 2015 was $12,331 a year, only 20 percent below a full time
minimum wage worker s annual salary of $15,080 (Should the Federal). As a
result, minimum wage citizens can barely meet their living needs. A study
completed by the National Low Income Housing Coalition in 2015 said that a
worker must earn $15.50 an hour to be able to rent a one bedroom apartment. If
someone needed a two bedroom apartment they would need to earn $19.35 an hour
(Should the Federal). More people would be able to find adequate housing or their
family if minimum wage were to increase. As a result. Less people would be living
on the streets. If the minimum wage was raised to $9 an hour, over 300,000 people
would be lifted out of poverty. Even better, raising minimum wage to $10.10 an
hour would result in over 900,000 people out of poverty (Should the Federal).
Consequently, more people would be living comfortably if the minimum wage were
to be raised. Poverty levels... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Figurative Language In Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings s The...
There are more than 2,400 entries submitted for a Pulitzer Prize each year and only
twenty one will win. Those are not promising odds, but in 1939, Marjorie Kinnan
Rawlings conquered those odds. Rawlings accepted the prize for her acclaimed
novel, The Yearling. The story did not receive the award, but rather Rawlings
incredible writing. Rawlings use of figurative language, sensory details, and syntax
elucidates the main character s experiences and thoughts throughout the novel. The
main character, Jody, goes through some difficult situations throughout the novel
and Rawlings writing portrays these situations with great detail. This detail is
presented through her use of sensory details, figurative language, and syntax which
are all reasons to why she received such an esteemed award. Rawlings use of
sensory details throughout her novel develops the story and brings Jody s
experiences to life. For instance, in paragraph one on page seven she writes, The
mist tickled his skin. It was scarcely wet. It was at once warm and cool. Using the
touch sense, her words give the mist a feeling rather than just stating that there is
mist. The words illustrate how the mist felt to Jody. Besides the touch sense,
Rawlings also uses sound in paragraph six on page 224, A great roaring sounded in
the distance. All the bears in the scrub, meeting at the river, might make such a
roaring. Her comparison of the sound of the winds to the sound of bears roaring
emphasizes the gravity of how

Social and Economic Equality of African Americans in
America
Social and Economic Equality of African Americans in America The struggle for
social and economic equality of Black people in America has been long and slow.
It is sometimes amazing that any progress has been made in the racial equality
arena at all; every tentative step forward seems to be diluted by losses elsewhere.
For every Stacey Koons that is convicted, there seems to be a Texaco executive
waiting to send Blacks back to the past. Throughout the struggle for equal rights,
there have been courageous Black leaders at the forefront of each discrete
movement. From early activists such as Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington,
and W.E.B. DuBois, to 1960s civil rights leaders and radicals such as Martin Luther
King, Malcolm X,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Significantly, he argued for submission to the white majority so as not to offend
the power elite. Though he preached appeasement and a hands off attitude toward
politics, Washington has been accused of wielding imperious power over his
people and of consorting with the white elite. William Edward Burghardt DuBois,
on the other hand, was more of an idealist. DuBois was born in Massachusetts in
1868, just after the end of the Civil War and the official end of slavery. A gifted
scholar, formal education played a much greater role in DuBois s life than it did in
Washington s. After becoming a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Fisk and Harvard, he
was the first Black to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard in 1895. DuBois wrote over 20
books and more than 100 scholarly articles on the historical and sociological nature
of the Black experience. He argued that an educated Black elite should lead Blacks
to liberation by advancing a philosophical and intellectual offensive against racial
discrimination. DuBois forwarded the argument that The Negro problem was not and
could not be kept distinct from other reform movements. . . DuBois favored
immediate social and political integration and the higher education of a Talented

leader, the man who sets the ideas of the community where he lives. . . To this end,
he organized the Niagara movement, a meeting of 29 Black
Johnny Cash Essay
Johnny Cash was born on February 26th, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas. Cash was
one of seven children born to his parents, Ray Cash and Carrie Cloveree. He was
named J.R Cash at birth, but when he later enlisted in the US army he was not
allowed use those initials. He then changed his name is John R.Cash and took Johnny
Cashas his stage name. Johnny Cash was an American singer songwriter, guitarist,
actor, and author, widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th
century.
Jonny Cash was one of the first people to play in the American prisons. Cash
preformed his first concerts for inmates in 1957 in Texas at the Huntsville State
Prison. In 1958 he performed at San Quentin for the first time, where he influenced
inmate Merle Haggard to join the prison country band and later make a band of his
own called The Strangers. In 1966, he first performed in Folsom Prison for which he
wrote the song Folsom Prison Blues
Although Cash carefully cultivated a romantic outlaw image, he never served a
prison sentence, even though he was in jail seven times for small offences, each
stay lasted only a single night. His most well known encounter with the law
happened while on tour in 1965, when he was arrested October 4 by a narcotics
squad in El Paso, Texas. The officers suspected he was smuggling heroin from
Mexico, but found instead 688 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cash attempted to bribe a local deputy, who turned the money down, and then spent
the night in a LaFayette, Georgia, jail. The singer was released after a long talk
with Sheriff Ralph Jones, who warned him of his dangerous behaviour and wasted
potential. Cash credited that experience for saving his life, and he later came back to
LaFayette to play a benefit concert that attracted 12,000 people (the city population
was less than 9,000 at the time) and raised $75,000 for the high
Susan B. Anthony And The Equal Pay Act
Imagine being told that you do not need as much pay as a man because your
husband is a professor and you do not need the money. This was the truth for Maxine
Lampe when she addressed the school district about being paid less. Before her
husband was done with graduate school, she brought the issue up with the school
where she worked and was told that she could not get the head of household pay that
menreceived, even though she was the breadwinner. This is not the only account of
this happening. All over the country, women are getting paid less than men and being
told that it s okay. It is not okay.
Gender equality is something that has been a problem through the ages. Susan B.
Anthony and many others fought for the right to vote which was granted in 1920.
In 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act into law stating that
no employer can discriminate based on gender. The American Association of
University Women published a graph on Women s Median Annual Earnings as a
Percentage of Men s Median Annual Earnings for Full time, Year round Workers,
1974 2014 and it shows that in 1974, women were paid 59% of what men were
paid. The graph shows the improvements over the years and that in 2014, women
were paid 79% of what men were paid. The gap has not budged since 2014. The
gender pay gap has improved over the years, but it will not close until new legislation
passes.
Over time, the gap has changed for the better. The gap has improved for many

Rough Draft: The Chemistry of Cancer
Introduction According to the National Institutes of Health, in 2016 more than
595,000 people died from cancer, and the US is projected to spend more than $150
billion in the treatment of cancer by 2020 ( Cancer Statistics ). Many of us know a
friend or loved one who was killed by a form of cancer, and we may know someone
fighting the disease right at this very moment. For this project, I wanted to look at
the chemical reasons for why cancer forms, how it grows in the human body, and
what can be done to stop it. While scientists are still learning about cancer and its
effects, there is a lot of scientific evidence that points to free radicals as one of the ...

The result is what we call a free radical cascade, an enormous chain reaction of free
radicals that quickly wreaks havoc on living tissue (Howard). Because of the
constant loss of one electron, the organic molecules affected by the free radical are
being oxidized. This has caused scientists to refer to the process as oxidative stress
(Nimse and Pal).
However, in other cases, enormous molecules can be created as the oxygen molecule
takes an electron from a nearby hydrocarbon. It glues itself to the original molecule
and leaves the end of that original molecule one electron short. For example, the
following reaction shows what happens when an organic peroxide comes into contact
with ethylene. Asterisks show an unpaired electron.
R O O R в†’ R O* + *O R
R O* + H2C=CH2в†’ RO CH2 CH2*
RO CH2 CH2* + H2C=CH2 в†’ RO CH2 CH2 CH2 CH2*
(Atteya)
As the reactions show, the unpaired electron chops the double bond between the
carbon atoms in ethylene, turning it into longer and longer free radicals.
Free Radicals and Cancer
Free radicals can cause cancerous tumors when they form longer and longer free
radicals in one location (Atteya), causing the proteins and other compounds the body
naturally produced to become transformed into larger and more complicated organic
compounds that the body doesn t know what to do with. Dr. Atteya refers to this as
localized cancer.
However, free radicals
Tension In Benito Cereno
In the novella Benito Cereno, Herman Melville builds tension between the american
captain Delano and the Spanish Captain, who Delano had sought out to help. Captain
Delano, while doubtful at times wasn t sure how trustworthy Cereno was, creating
tension between them when Cereno would act odd. He wasn t sure if Cereno was
masquerading as a pirate, but his generous nature would reassure him that he was
silly to have such doubts. Due to Cereno s though being presented to the audiencein
narrative form Melville made us detract from what the slaves were doing because
there actions were simply described without much thoughtand speculation. As a result,
at first take the audience didn t pay attention to the free roaming slaves and had
believed that Cereno had allowed them to do whatever they had liked, as odd as it
had seem to Delano. The whole setup of deceit was a ruse from the beginning, used
to fool Delano and the audience the moment he had set foot. The author had used
subtle details from the start of the book, to make the audience feel at unease but we
weren t sure why. This tension, unease, and shock ending is what makes the Novella
genre distinct and a novella.
The Line By his side stood a black of small stature, in whose rude face, as
occasionally, like a shepherd s dog, he mutely turned it up into exemplifies the web

Effect Of Corporate Actions On Human Health And The...
The point of it all, in addition to understanding the detrimental effects that corporate
actions can have on human health and the environment, is the realization that
corporations have a frightening level of power and control over multiple aspects
of our society. Not only do products sold, economic presence, and a high volume of
jobs provided by corporations affect how we live, but the active role that
corporations play in deliberately shaping how people think through media, research,
and political lobbying raises questions of how far we are willing to let them go.
Or at least it should. One of the greatest weapons that a corporation can wield is
silence, which leads to ignorance about its operating practices, allowing it to commit

According to Jane Akre, a member of the Monsanto investigative team who was
interviewed for The Corporation, Monsanto demanded that Fox reedit the report
multiple times, reaching up to 83 revisions before outright demanding that it be
scrapped altogether. When Akre and her partner refused to trash the report, intending
to expose the health risks posed by rBGH and protect the thousands of public schools
which gave milk sourced from Monsanto to attendant children, they were fired.
Undaunted, Akre went to the Florida court, citing wrongful termination and using an
exchange between her and a senior editor as evidence that she should obtain

Surprisingly, after an appeal from Monsanto, the court threw the case out, stating that

The broader implications of this single case are terrifying. The first and foremost
among them is that a court struck down a case which involved the wellbeing of

Their reasoning was that because the deliberate violation of a core virtue was not

Greek Art Period and Comparison of Kroisos from,
Anavysos...
Greek art took many ideas from Egypt and Mesopotamia however as the years
passed they started to develop and create their own unique style. This style was
more realistic and natural visually. One of their goals was for the viewer to believe
they are seeing a moment standing still in time. You can see this when you
compare Kroisos from, Anavysos Greece, and Doryphorus from Pompeii, Italy.
These pieces are roughly dated 80 years apart however the difference between the
two forms are so remarkable. This paper will be discussing and addressing the
evolution of a more naturalistic art form, from the statue of Kroisos compared to
the statue of Doryphorus during the Greek art period. At a first glance of the
statues you may not see the dramatic differences between the two however they
were both approached in different ways to be created. They have different
meanings yet both were created to be more naturalistic than what came before it.
In Anavysos, Greece a statue of a Kouros was discovered dedicated to Kroisos.
Kouros statues were male figures also known as youths that were erected on graves
as a gift for the gods and as a marker for these graves. None of the statues were
identical however you could see that the all had the same base image to be formed
from. This particular one was in honor of Kroisos who died a very noble death in
battle in the front lines so his family erected this statue. This piece is dated circa
530BCE and is 6 4 high carved from marble. This
Chorley Wood Rot Problem
Given enough time and the right conditions, wood rot problems in Chorley can
completely destroy the wooden building materials in your house. It can be difficult
to pinpoint rotting wood, especially if it is not easily noticeable. Undetected, wood
rot can spread throughout your entire house, eventually causing extensive structural
damage. If you suspect wood rot problems in your house, contact a professional damp
proofer as soon as possible.
Older buildings and houses that have not been regularly maintained are at risk. In
Chorley, wood rot problems are caused by wet timber. Moisture in the wooden
parts of your house creates an environment that is ideal for fungal growth. This
causes the wood s fibres to deteriorate. If there is an unprotected wooden area in
your house that is in contact with water over a long enough length of time, the wood
will begin to rot. Wood decay spores can settle on the damp or wet wood, and when
the conditions are right, will germinate into tiny fungus plants that will penetrate the
wood. If wood rot is not detected and removed, it can ... Show more content on

Modernity brought upon the idea of the modern man and what that entails.
Modernism could be seen as a shift in thought towards logic and rational away from
traditional thought. The shift from previous conditions to modern conditions is a
result of a change in the state of societal changed where certain aspects like cultural
movements, technology, and knowledge were present to restructure their
industrialized world. The process of progress leads to the past being scrutinized even
further and seen in light of a more primitive time. C.S. Lewis, Sigmund Freud, and

Cause And Effect Of Gun Control
Gun Control and Its Effects. Many people around the United States are victims of
shootings, whether they be school shootings, mass shootings, or Terrorist Attacks.
There seem to be two common ideas either support or oppose gun control. In the
United States, many gun control supporters believe that guns are the reason mass
shootings happen while gun control opponents believe that people are the cause of
mass shootings. But they both want the people in the United Statesto be safe, whether
that is from government tyranny, mass shootings, gun violence, or mental health.
Government tyranny is what most, if all opponents to gun control believe and
worry about. This is a common occurrence because that is what is commonly
accepted as the reason for the Second Amendment. Supporters of gun control
believe that the United States is a great country that would never fall to tyranny.
But opponents often show the comparison with the federalist and the anti federalist
because we often feel the importance of the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights
guarantees the right to free speech and free worship along with the right to bear
arms. Opponents of gun control also cite how this country was founded on
fighting a tyrannical government, and the founding fathers did not want to
become what they fought so hard to get rid of ( Gun Control Laws... ). Mass
shootings are a controversial subject because many do not want to rush into gun
control because they could because anxious from any recent mass shootings.
Supporters of gun control believe that taking away assault weapons would solve
this but that word was made up in the wake of these shootings . Assault Weapons
are made up assault rifles are standard practice for the military as they are fully
automatic and have big capacity magazines and are made specifically to do major
damage. The Assault Weapons many supporters want to ban are known as semi
automatic rifles and have been around since the early days of the war with vietnam.

A financial arrangement was made between the families. Girls get married at the
ages of fourteen to eighteen. Men married in their twenties to thirties. Priests did
not direct weddings instead a set of rituals were followed, after which the couple
would live together. The ritual started with baths. Then the groom would then go
to the bride s house in a chariot or a cart. A feast may be held at bride s father s
house. After the groom would bring the bride to his parents home. They would be
greeted at the entrance by the parents of the groom. There they would be showered
by nuts and fruits. The couple then would go into the bedroom. For the wife to be
fully accepted into the groom s family , a child had to be conceived from their
union. If a couple wanted to divorce it could easily be granted. The man would
have to payback the woman s family in cash. Divorces were caused by many things
for example like the wife not being able to have children. If a wife committed
adultery it was forced by law for there to be a divorce. Greek men never interacted
with anyone else outside his family. This is how marriage was set in Ancient
Greece. In ancient greece the people mostly believed in olympian greek Gods and

Examples Of Self-Regulating Streets
Self Regulating Streets
Self Regulating Streets
1.Explain what is meant by this expression in terms of place making and urban design.
Self regulating streets are streets where urban design, function, place, landscaping,
engineering and urban design can all be implemented to regulate the speed of
vehicles.
Place making involves the implementation of a vision to improve a few major
aspects to ensure the success of urban places, including streets. These three aspects
include quality public realm, way finding and legibility and sense of place which,
among others, go a long way in ensuring the sustainability of self regulating streets.
Sense of place can be explained as the individual s personal perception of a given
street. On the other hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Give examples of where and how you think the principle has been successfully
implemented.
The first example of a place where self regulating streets have been implemented is
in Ireland most specifically the seaside town of Youghal in County Cork. This was
the first region to identify the existing link between driver behavior and street
environment back in 1995. This principle of self regulating streets was successfully
implemented using narrow streets and having parking spaces along the streets so as to
reduce traffic congestion. In light traffic conditions, this design has proven to be very
effective.
Dorset Street in the northern part of Dublin also serves as a self regulating street.
Due to its heavy traffic, Dorset Street successfully implemented this principle using a
boulevard type of configuration. Trees were placed along the street to provide an
enclosure.
Both of these examples were successfully implemented as a result of the designers
carrying out vigorous analysis to come up with an optimum design and intervention
tailored to each place, so as to fully solve the issue of motorist behavior and speed

Characters And Nihilism In The Novel s Fathers And Sons
In the novel, Fathers and Sons , the character Bazarov is known to be a self
confident, and intelligent doctor who s known to leave a few great impressions
behind when interacting with his fellow characters large and small, like Fenichka
and the lower classman people. However, as nice as he may seem, I do not believe
that the story intends Bazarov to be the protagonist, but rather the antagonist. His
beliefof nihilism, the rejection of all religious and moral principles, is one of the
reasons why he is shown as an antagonist. Following that, is how he rudely carries
out his own opinions to others, but then later on, turns out to be a hypocritic of his
own teachings ; making him very displeasing to the audience to read. So although
some may argue that Bazarov is a hero, because of lighter traits, I would have to
disagree because of his belief of nihilism, how he carries it out to people and later
turning himself into a hypocritic, making the novel play against Bazarov rather than
for him.
In the beginning of the story, Bazarov was known as a great friend to Arkady, and
for a short lived time, he was not wrong. Bazarov was written with attractive
figures for an antagonist, physically and non physical. Typically, an antagonist is
seen as evil and ugly from the inside to out, but Bazarov was the exact opposite. A

Exercise 1
(a)
If the emissions in the area are left unregulated then the two factories will emit as
much as they can, which means there will be zero abatement (MAC=0). So we have:
Factory A: MACA=0 4000 EA=0 EA=4000
Factory B: MACB=0 4000 4EB=0 EB=1000
For the socially optimal level of emissions we have:
MACA=4000 EA EA=4000 MACA
MACB=4000 4EB EB=1000 0,25MACB
By adding the above by parts we get:
E=5000 1,25MAC MAC=4000 0,8E
The socially optimal level of emissions is where MAC equals MD, therefore:
MAC=MD 4000 0,8E*=1,7E* 4000=2,5E* E*=1600
(b)
First, we must find the excess demand for permits for each factory. In order to do
this, we must assume 2 prices for each factory.
Factory A:
If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, we have:
MAC=MD 360 65 E = 0,3E* 360 = 310 E* + 1210 E* E*= 1015Г—360 E*=240
units.
(b)
In order for the two tanneries to be cost efficient, two conditions need to be in force:
EA+EB=E
MACA=MACB
So, we have:
EA+EB=240 EA= 240 EB
MACA=MACB 360 2EA=360 3EB 360 2(240 EB) =360 3EB 5EB=480 EB=96
And EA= 240 EB EA= 240 96 EA=144
So, Firm A should emit EA=144 units and Firm B EB=96.
For EA=144 we have:
MACA=360 2(144) =360 288=72
So:
TACA=180 144Г—722=25922=1296
For EB=96 we have:
MACB=360 3(96) =360 288=72
So:
TACB=120 96Г—722=17282=864
(c)
Since, the government sets an emission tax, in order to find the units that each firm
will be willing to emit under this tax we set MAC=tax, because each tannery will
choose to emit until its MAC becomes equal to the tax. So, we have:
Tannery A will emit: MACA=66 360 2EA=66 2EA=294 EA=147 units
Tannery B will emit: MACB=66 360 3EB=66 3EB=294 EB=98 units
Under this policy of taxing we have:
For tannery A the cost of compliance is:
TCA=TACA+(tГ—EA)
TACA=12Г—180 14766$=1089$

Year Round School Advantages
The children that watch a lot of Tvs have lower grades, don t read as much and
could have health problems. In the summer they watch TV and don t get exercise. If
you go to year round school you won t have much time to watch TV. Year round
schooling is positive because it gives students more frequent breaks to relax, it
improves test scores, and there is no summer school.
Year round schooling is unlike regular schooling in many good and bad ways. An
example is how schooling year round will save time in school and outside of
school. Due to the shorter summers schooling year round would make you have
more frequent breaks and gives you time to shift their way of thinking from less
active to sharp learning models! Sence schooling year round would not have a long

Some ways they help the school is some schools use a multi track system which the
school is divided into four tracks then 3 out of 4 tracks could be in school while
the other track could be on vacation and they switch out. The multi track system
helps overcrowded schools and stress of having too many students. Another thing
that helps the schools is portable room dividers that also helps to solve
overcrowding. The room dividers create more flexible space and it quickly
changes the look and use of any given space at any time. Finally the last way to
help the school is to help the achievement gap. The dropout ratings of schooling
year round are 2% but the dropout rate of minority school is 5%! Schooling year
round has lower dropout ratings because they have less time to adjust to being off of
school.
Schooling year round keeps kids on task, help retain information better and even if

The Vine Poem
Controlling Chaotic Curls
Robert Herrick s poem, The Vine , is rich with metaphoric and symbolic aspect to
love, pleasure, and dominance. The poem, The Vine , as a whole is a metaphor
because the speaker has taken the form of a vine or tendril in the poem. The poem
is about a man actually dreaming of a woman, Lucia. Robert Herrick specifically uses
certain words to express his love and feelings for Lucia. A similein the poem that is
very significant in its entirety is And found (ah me!) this flesh of mine/ More like a
stock than like a vine (22 23). This line is important throughout the entire poem for
the relationship between the speaker s state of a stock and a vine. By saying he is
feeling more like a stock can be interpreted as the growth has diminished and he can
no longer love freely for a long time. His love for Lucia is hardening like the stock
has or is coming to an end. The words flesh, stock and the phrase of (ah me!) (22)
can imply that the speaker is happy to be waking up with an erection. The speaker

pop of joy rising from this line interrupts the feelings of embarrassment and
confusion, as the speaker is happy that this dream actually occurred. The (ah me!)
also interrupts the poem, where the speaker s dream is interrupted by him waking up.
The poem in its entirety is the relationship between the speaker and the vine.

How Heinrich Hertz Changed The World Of Radiology
So Good, It Hertz Heinrich Hertz was a German Physicist who was able to
contribute many discoveries and contributions to the world of Radiology. Hertz was
known to have paved the way for numerous advances in communication technology
through the discovery of radio waves and also confirming the Electromagnetic
Theory made by James Clerk Maxwell. Though many people do not know who
Heinrich Hertz was, many know the word hertz (Hz) as a unit of measure of
frequency that was established in Heinrich Hertz honor during 1930. To further
expand on the man named Heinrich Hertz, looking at his early history, his radiologic
contributions, and why those contributions were important gives insight on how he
changed the world of Radiology. Heinrich Hertz... Show more content on

It all started when Hertz was teaching and was simply showing his students
electrical sparks. He soon began testing out different sparks and seeing how the
electricity jumped from each of the wire receptors. He soon discovered that the
vibration from the wires could radiate electromagnetic waves that could pass
through the air invisible. With these findings, Hertz created an apparatus called an
Oscillator. With using the Oscillator, Hertz was able to use high voltage A.C.
electricity to create sparks that could jump from one wire to the other. Thus, Hertz
had not only produced radio waves, but he was also able to detect them also. Once
Hertz discovered radio waves, he was easily able to also prove Maxwell s theory of
electromagnetism over the course of three years by doing simple experiments. By
using his Oscillator apparatus, Hertz was able to prove that the waves that were
being produced were a form of electromagnetism because much like light, they
could be reflected, refracted, and produce standing waves. Hertz also was able to
discover the Photoelectric Effect during one of his experiments. Though he did not
proceed with this discovery, it was picked up by Albert Einstein. Einstein was able
to win a Nobel Prize in Physics for the Photoelectric Effect even though technically
Hertz had discovered it years

Executive Order For Military Operation Against Isil
MEMORANDUM From: Rich Strand, Chief of Staff, United States Army To:
Honorable Ashton Carter, Secretary of Defense Via: General Martin Dempsey,
Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Subject: EXECUTIVE ORDER FOR MILITARY
OPERATION AGAINST ISIL Introduction While relatively unknown in its early
years, the terrorist organization known as ISIL, or the Islamic State of Iraq and the
Levant, has steadily grown in size and risen in power since its inception in the late
1990 s. With the recent instability in Iraq and the raging Syrian Civil War, the group
has seized control of a significant portion of the Levant region. By June 2014, the
group declared their expansive territory a Muslim caliphate and proclaimed
themselves the Islamic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the War Powers Resolution and Authorizations of Military Force, the
President as Commander in Chief may take action to combat ISIL.
Recommendations as to appropriate and effective courses of action will be
presented and examined to determine the best course of action to decisively
eradicate the threat posed by the Islamic State. Need for an Executive Intervention
The need for executive action is clear, and based on straightforward principles.
First, ISIL has proven to be a credible threat on multiple fronts. Its unchecked
expansion in Syria and Iraq has threatened the sovereignty and integrity of these
nations. It is a clear threat to not only to regional stability, but a threat to our allies
and partners Middle East and Europe. Perhaps most importantly, ISIL is a credible
threat to our homeland, having openly called for the killing of American citizens and
intimated attacks on American soil. The members of the organization have already
brutally and publically claimed the lives of four U.S. citizens: James Foley, Steven
Sotloff, Abdul Rahman Peter Kassig, and Kayla Jean Mueller.2 In pursuit of their
ideological vision of a muslim caliphate, the group has violated a multitude of
international laws and principles. The United Nations contends that ISIL has
committed human rights abuses and war crimes, with reports of forcible recruitment
of child soldiers, forced religious conversion, sexual slavery, rape and involuntary
marriage,
Tutankhamun Accomplishments
Tutankhamun is one of the most famous and instantly recognisable Pharaohs of the
modern world, even though he lived and reigned over 3,000 years ago. The boy
Pharaoh was born under the name Tutankhaten (`living image of Aten ), in 1345
BCE and died in 1327 BCE at the age of just 18 or 19, after only being in power for
10 years. Until archaeologist Howard Carter discovered his almost fully intact tomb
in the Valley of the Kings in 1922 CE, the Pharaoh was almost unheard of due to the
common belief that he was a minor ruler, whose reign was of little consequence.
However, after this discovery and subsequent discoveries due to excavations, analysis
of his mummy and other historical evidence, opinions changed, so much so that
today Tutankhamunis recognized as an important Pharaoh who returned order to
Ancient Egyptafter it was left in chaos by the political religious reforms of his Father,
Amenhotep IV (Akhenaten), and who would no doubt have made further impressive
contributions to Egypt s history if not for his early death.
During the reign of Tutankhamun there were many decisions and reforms that took
place that were due to the religious reforms of his predecessor, his father ... Show

The Aten was to be worshipped in the open sunlight, rather than within the Temple
enclosures, thus banning and even the destruction of temples. Excavations of some
Ancient Egyptian temples have provided evidence of Amun being cut from the stone
and even inscriptions containing the plural god s being removed or defaced. Many
stone blocks from excavations at Amarna have been recovered which depict the royal
family worshipping the Aten or undergoing everyday activities under the rays of the
Aten sun disk which historians believe were used to reinforce the link between the

Characteristics Of Duck Calls
Duck Quacker Qualities
Duck calls were invented to mimic the sound of a female duck and to lure flying
birds to hunters decoys. They were developed by waterfowl hunters desiring to create
the most efficient tool possible and were originally made of metal. After too many
hunters lips froze to the metal call s mouthpiece, inventors turned to wood and acrylic
plastic. Duck calls mimic female ducks because they make the loud quacking noise
people associate with their species. Childhood rhymes such as Old McDonald
highlight this sound. The classic quack is made when ducks are hungry, separated
from the flock, or courting. Female ducks usually make the sound in a series of
two ten quacks that begin loudly and get softer. Male ducks, on the other hand, do
not create much of a sound at all. Instead, a male duck gives a quiet, rasping, short
call. The louder, longer sound is the reason duck hunters want to mimic the female
duck. Using duck calls to entice birds to land improves the odds of having a
successful hunt. Although wooden and acrylic duck calls share many common
characteristics, acrylic is a hunter s best choice.
One similarity of both wood and acrylic duck calls is their design. The design
consists of two parts: the barrel and the insert. The barrel is the large end of the
duck call and is the mouthpiece. It is basically a tube that acts as the duck call
sound generator and handle. Since it is the largest piece of the call, it is the end that
is artistically designed.
Barbara Bodichon s Suffrage Movement
Barbara Bodichon committed herself to furthering the women s suffrage movement
in a patriarchal England by publishing works in her feminist newspaper, petitioning
Parliament, and by founding the first college in England that offered degree level
education to women. Bodichon was an artist, feminist, and activist. She dedicated her
life to fighting for equality, specifically in marriage. As a womanin Victorian England,
she faced a ruling body of mostly married men who were opposed to change in their
households, especially with their wives. Founding Girton College, which offered a
higher level education for women, is her most recognized legacy, although her works
extended far beyond that.
The fight for women s rights in England exploded in the mid nineteenth century and
saw figures like John Stuart Mill and Emmeline Pankhurst publishing feminist
articles. The desire for equal rights had already existed and the leaders of the
movement gave these women a voice. Goals varied depending on who was asked,
but the overall goal of being equal with or closer to being equal with men was
prevalent to them all. Some desired complete equality under the law ... Show more

Her unwavering devotion and constant support of gaining women rights that
equaled men shaped her legacy and led to women actually gaining these rights.
Her unfamiliarity in modern history is nothing short of a tragedy. For she chose to
voice her opinion in the face of criticism, act upon her beliefs in unforgiving
circumstances and fight for what she felt was right when she knew that she would
be ridiculed and called preposterous for it. As she stated in her writings I hope there
are some who will brave ridicule for the sake of common justice for half the people in
the world . She led those brave few and ended up winning rights for a person that
had been undermined for hundreds of years prior:
The Curious Case Of Polygamy

The Curious Case of Polygamy
Abstract:
As of 2015, thirty seven U.S. states have legalize same sex marriage, and with
arguments in a landmark case currently being presented in the Supreme Court this
month; there is little doubt that the modern definition of legal marriage will soon be
forever changed in The United States. While same sex marriage is still the center of
fierce debate and opposition from primarily religious conservatives, public opinion
reflects a more tolerant social consensus. Despite this relatively recent legal trend of
marriage law reform, same sex relationships are obviously nothing new. Like same
sex relationships, polygamous relationships have also existed in the U.S. regardless
of state recognition. Curiously, unlike same sex marriage, virtually no significant
progress has been made for legal recognition of polyamorous unions. One could argue
that poly progress is more than just stagnant, but moving in a negative direction
considering Supreme Court rulings consistently upholding polygamy bans.
Mainstream representation of polygamy, or debate and discussion on its merits seem
virtually non existent, save the occasional voyeurism of reality television shows or
liberalism of think pieces buried deep within online newspapers archives. Monogamy
commands such extreme reinforcement in American culture that polygamy is
unconsciously considered not up for debate, and synonymous with evil even across

An Essay About Bullying.pdf

  • 1. An Essay About Bullying Writing an essay on this particular topic can be emotionally taxing and intellectually challenging. It demands a delicate balance between conveying the gravity of the issue while maintaining a constructive and informative tone. Addressing the various facets of bullying, from its psychological impact on victims to its societal implications, requires thorough research and careful articulation. Moreover, delving into personal anecdotes or case studies adds another layer of complexity, as it involves handling sensitive material with empathy and respect. Crafting a compelling narrative that sheds light on the intricacies of bullying without sensationalizing or trivializing the experiences of those affected is a formidable task. Furthermore, navigating the vast landscape of existing literature and scholarly discourse on the subject can be overwhelming, requiring a discerning eye to select relevant sources and synthesize diverse perspectives effectively. Balancing statistical data, academic theories, and real-life accounts while maintaining coherence and readability poses a significant challenge. In essence, writing an essay on this topic demands not only academic rigor but also emotional intelligence and ethical consideration. • 4. Developing Compassion Essay a merciless event, it is selfish without even realizing it. Doing good deeds does not make us a good individual, it just makes us decent. The benefits of generosity for both our physical and mental health are outstanding. generosity reduces stress, supports one s physical health, enhances one s sense of purpose, and helps fight depression, it has also been shown to increase one s lifespan because all the health benefits of not being stressed. You may think you are being selfless, but you are also benefiting yourself in a way you did not know about. Developing compassion increases our happiness. In an experiment published in Science by Harvard Business School professor Michael Norton, they gave money to; two sets of groups, one that spent money on themselves and the other spent it on other people. It was found that the people who bought presents for others showed an increase in happiness, this was even the case with children giving treats to others. We are using an unselfish event and making for an ego boost. However, by doing so we need to become conscious of the world around us. As we develop more of an awareness we become more concerned about what is going on around us. Therefore, we carry guilt for simple things like throwing a cigarette on the ground, we may feel guilty for a bit, but we can always change our actions and help the world around us. Compassion is simple and uses common sense, it is humble and straightforward. Being compassionate is difficult for those who
  • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cyberterrorism Introduction Prevalent to the current trend now is the dependency of the society on Information technology and communication systems. Every aspect of human life is one way or the other linked and controlled by information technology tools. The importance of information technology cannot be over emphasized as its unavailability could lead to a form of disaster or the other. Pivotal infrastructures like finance, healthcare, education and security are driven by information technology. However, information technology and its benefits are accompanied by vulnerabilities and risks that can be exploited by people with the necessary technical skills. Individuals like Hackers and Cyber Terrorist can cause disruption to information systems, commit financial fraud and also attack computers and networks. These attacks and disruptions could result to violence against people and properties. In some cases, death, serious injuries and severe economic loss could occur as a result of these attacks. What is Cyberterrorism? A lot of opinions and meanings has been given to the word Cyberterrorism . Some of these meanings and definitions varies. In this light, Gordon and Ford (2003) are concerned that when 10 people define cyberterrorism and nine of the given answers are different, and these 10 people represent different government agencies tasked with safeguarding national assets and infrastructure, then it becomes a critical issue. According to Furnell and Warren (1999), Evidence suggests that technology is growingly seen as a potential tool for terrorist organizations and the widespread use of information technology by terrorist groups and organizations has led to the birth of a new class of menace termed Cyberterrorism . Cyberterrorism could be used in many diverse ways. Sometimes, a country s pivotal infrastructures could be shut down and harmed using computer network and tools. There have been impediments in trying to give a clear and concise definition to the term cyberterrorism . But Denning (2007) which supersedes Denning (2000) gives an unambiguous definition to cyberterrorism: Cyberterrorism is generally understood to refer to highly damaging computer based attacks or threats of attack by non state actors against

Beginning life in Thornton, Yorkshire, Charlotte grew up amidst Victorian England with her sisters Emily, Anne, Maria, and Elizabeth, along with their brother Patrick. • 20. Figurative Language In Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings s The... There are more than 2,400 entries submitted for a Pulitzer Prize each year and only twenty one will win. Those are not promising odds, but in 1939, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings conquered those odds. Rawlings accepted the prize for her acclaimed novel, The Yearling. The story did not receive the award, but rather Rawlings incredible writing. Rawlings use of figurative language, sensory details, and syntax elucidates the main character s experiences and thoughts throughout the novel. The main character, Jody, goes through some difficult situations throughout the novel and Rawlings writing portrays these situations with great detail. This detail is presented through her use of sensory details, figurative language, and syntax which are all reasons to why she received such an esteemed award. Rawlings use of sensory details throughout her novel develops the story and brings Jody s experiences to life. For instance, in paragraph one on page seven she writes, The mist tickled his skin. I was born to Filipino parents in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States when I was one year old. But how I consider myself culturally is more complex than this statement appears. I have only been an American citizen for half of my life. But claiming a country I barely remember as my home feels unjustified. Whether I consider myself Filipino or American has always been a springboard for self reflection, but I do not expect a definitive answer anytime soon, if at all. For now, I embrace my ethnic ambiguity as an idiosyncrasy of my identity. We know you lead a busy life, full of activities, many of which are required of you. Tell us about something you do for the pleasure of it. But manual transportation is too exhilarating to shy away from for too long. To compromise, I ride my bicycle three to five times every month through local towns, often crossing the Pennsylvania New York border, discovering new areas, getting lost, and engaging in self reflection. Biking is the perfect balance between relaxation and sensing that unconquerable high just you against the rest of the world. Although you may not yet know what you want to major in, which department or program at MIT appeals to you and why? (*)

Social and Economic Equality of African Americans in America Social and Economic Equality of African Americans in America The struggle for social and economic equality of Black people in America has been long and slow. It is sometimes amazing that any progress has been made in the racial equality arena at all; every tentative step forward seems to be diluted by losses elsewhere. For every Stacey Koons that is convicted, there seems to be a Texaco executive waiting to send Blacks back to the past. Throughout the struggle for equal rights, there have been courageous Black leaders at the forefront of each discrete movement. From early activists such as Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Though he preached appeasement and a hands off attitude toward politics, Washington has been accused of wielding imperious power over his people and of consorting with the white elite. William Edward Burghardt DuBois, on the other hand, was more of an idealist. DuBois was born in Massachusetts in 1868, just after the end of the Civil War and the official end of slavery. A gifted scholar, formal education played a much greater role in DuBois s life than it did in Washington s. After becoming a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Fisk and Harvard, he was the first Black to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard in 1895. DuBois wrote over 20 books and more than 100 scholarly articles on the historical and sociological nature of the Black experience. He argued that an educated Black elite should lead Blacks to liberation by advancing a philosophical and intellectual offensive against racial discrimination. DuBois forwarded the argument that The Negro problem was not and could not be kept distinct from other reform movements. . . Many of us know a friend or loved one who was killed by a form of cancer, and we may know someone fighting the disease right at this very moment. The result is what we call a free radical cascade, an enormous chain reaction of free radicals that quickly wreaks havoc on living tissue (Howard). Because of the constant loss of one electron, the organic molecules affected by the free radical are being oxidized. This has caused scientists to refer to the process as oxidative stress (Nimse and Pal). However, in other cases, enormous molecules can be created as the oxygen molecule takes an electron from a nearby hydrocarbon. It glues itself to the original molecule and leaves the end of that original molecule one electron short. For example, the following reaction shows what happens when an organic peroxide comes into contact with ethylene. Asterisks show an unpaired electron. R O O R в†’ R O* + *O R R O* + H2C=CH2в†’ RO CH2 CH2* RO CH2 CH2* + H2C=CH2 в†’ RO CH2 CH2 CH2 CH2* (Atteya) As the reactions show, the unpaired electron chops the double bond between the carbon atoms in ethylene, turning it into longer and longer free radicals. Free Radicals and Cancer Free radicals can cause cancerous tumors when they form longer and longer free radicals in one location (Atteya), causing the proteins and other compounds the body naturally produced to become transformed into larger and more complicated organic compounds that the body doesn t know what to do with. Dr. Atteya refers to this as localized cancer. However, free radicals

He wasn t sure if Cereno was masquerading as a pirate, but his generous nature would reassure him that he was silly to have such doubts. Due to Cereno s though being presented to the audiencein narrative form Melville made us detract from what the slaves were doing because there actions were simply described without much thoughtand speculation. As a result, at first take the audience didn t pay attention to the free roaming slaves and had believed that Cereno had allowed them to do whatever they had liked, as odd as it had seem to Delano. Greek art took many ideas from Egypt and Mesopotamia however as the years passed they started to develop and create their own unique style. This style was more realistic and natural visually. One of their goals was for the viewer to believe they are seeing a moment standing still in time. You can see this when you compare Kroisos from, Anavysos Greece, and Doryphorus from Pompeii, Italy. These pieces are roughly dated 80 years apart however the difference between the two forms are so remarkable. This paper will be discussing and addressing the evolution of a more naturalistic art form, from the statue of Kroisos compared to the statue of Doryphorus during the Greek art period. At a first glance of the statues you may not see the dramatic differences between the two however they were both approached in different ways to be created. They have different meanings yet both were created to be more naturalistic than what came before it. In Anavysos, Greece a statue of a Kouros was discovered dedicated to Kroisos. Kouros statues were male figures also known as youths that were erected on graves as a gift for the gods and as a marker for these graves. None of the statues were identical however you could see that the all had the same base image to be formed from. This particular one was in honor of Kroisos who died a very noble death in battle in the front lines so his family erected this statue. This piece is dated circa 530BCE and is 6 4 high carved from marble. This

This principle of self regulating streets was successfully implemented using narrow streets and having parking spaces along the streets so as to reduce traffic congestion. However, as nice as he may seem, I do not believe that the story intends Bazarov to be the protagonist, but rather the antagonist. His beliefof nihilism, the rejection of all religious and moral principles, is one of the reasons why he is shown as an antagonist. Following that, is how he rudely carries out his own opinions to others, but then later on, turns out to be a hypocritic of his own teachings ; making him very displeasing to the audience to read. So although some may argue that Bazarov is a hero, because of lighter traits, I would have to disagree because of his belief of nihilism, how he carries it out to people and later turning himself into a hypocritic, making the novel play against Bazarov rather than for him. In the beginning of the story, Bazarov was known as a great friend to Arkady, and for a short lived time, he was not wrong. Bazarov was written with attractive figures for an antagonist, physically and non physical. To further expand on the man named Heinrich Hertz, looking at his early history, his radiologic contributions, and why those contributions were important gives insight on how he changed the world of Radiology. Heinrich Hertz... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all started when Hertz was teaching and was simply showing his students electrical sparks. He soon began testing out different sparks and seeing how the electricity jumped from each of the wire receptors. He soon discovered that the vibration from the wires could radiate electromagnetic waves that could pass through the air invisible. With these findings, Hertz created an apparatus called an Oscillator. With using the Oscillator, Hertz was able to use high voltage A.C. electricity to create sparks that could jump from one wire to the other. Thus, Hertz had not only produced radio waves, but he was also able to detect them also. Once Hertz discovered radio waves, he was easily able to also prove Maxwell s theory of electromagnetism over the course of three years by doing simple experiments. By using his Oscillator apparatus, Hertz was able to prove that the waves that were being produced were a form of electromagnetism because much like light, they could be reflected, refracted, and produce standing waves. Hertz also was able to discover the Photoelectric Effect during one of his experiments. Though he did not proceed with this discovery, it was picked up by Albert Einstein. Einstein was able to win a Nobel Prize in Physics for the Photoelectric Effect even though technically Hertz had discovered it years

Executive Order For Military Operation Against Isil MEMORANDUM From: Rich Strand, Chief of Staff, United States Army To: Honorable Ashton Carter, Secretary of Defense Via: General Martin Dempsey, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Subject: EXECUTIVE ORDER FOR MILITARY OPERATION AGAINST ISIL Introduction While relatively unknown in its early years, the terrorist organization known as ISIL, or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, has steadily grown in size and risen in power since its inception in the late 1990 s. With the recent instability in Iraq and the raging Syrian Civil War, the group has seized control of a significant portion of the Levant region. By June 2014, the group declared their expansive territory a Muslim caliphate and proclaimed themselves the Islamic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the War Powers Resolution and Authorizations of Military Force, the President as Commander in Chief may take action to combat ISIL. Recommendations as to appropriate and effective courses of action will be presented and examined to determine the best course of action to decisively eradicate the threat posed by the Islamic State. Need for an Executive Intervention The need for executive action is clear, and based on straightforward principles. First, ISIL has proven to be a credible threat on multiple fronts. Its unchecked expansion in Syria and Iraq has threatened the sovereignty and integrity of these nations. It is a clear threat to not only to regional stability, but a threat to our allies and partners Middle East and Europe. Perhaps most importantly, ISIL is a credible threat to our homeland, having openly called for the killing of American citizens and intimated attacks on American soil. The members of the organization have already brutally and publically claimed the lives of four U.S. citizens: James Foley, Steven Sotloff, Abdul Rahman Peter Kassig, and Kayla Jean Mueller.2 In pursuit of their ideological vision of a muslim caliphate, the group has violated a multitude of international laws and principles. The United Nations contends that ISIL has committed human rights abuses and war crimes, with reports of forcible recruitment of child soldiers, forced religious conversion, sexual slavery, rape and involuntary marriage,
  • 44. Tutankhamun Accomplishments Tutankhamun is one of the most famous and instantly recognisable Pharaohs of the modern world, even though he lived and reigned over 3,000 years ago. The boy Pharaoh was born under the name Tutankhaten (`living image of Aten ), in 1345 BCE and died in 1327 BCE at the age of just 18 or 19, after only being in power for 10 years. Until archaeologist Howard Carter discovered his almost fully intact tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922 CE, the Pharaoh was almost unheard of due to the common belief that he was a minor ruler, whose reign was of little consequence. However, after this discovery and subsequent discoveries due to excavations, analysis of his mummy and other historical evidence, opinions changed, so much so that today Tutankhamunis recognized as an important Pharaoh who returned order to Ancient Egyptafter it was left in chaos by the political religious reforms of his Father, Amenhotep IV (Akhenaten), and who would no doubt have made further impressive contributions to Egypt s history if not for his early death. Excavations of some Ancient Egyptian temples have provided evidence of Amun being cut from the stone and even inscriptions containing the plural god s being removed or defaced. Many stone blocks from excavations at Amarna have been recovered which depict the royal family worshipping the Aten or undergoing everyday activities under the rays of the Aten sun disk which historians believe were used to reinforce the link between the Pharaoh and his
  • 45. Characteristics Of Duck Calls Duck Quacker Qualities Duck calls were invented to mimic the sound of a female duck and to lure flying birds to hunters decoys. They were developed by waterfowl hunters desiring to create the most efficient tool possible and were originally made of metal. After too many hunters lips froze to the metal call s mouthpiece, inventors turned to wood and acrylic plastic. Duck calls mimic female ducks because they make the loud quacking noise people associate with their species. Childhood rhymes such as Old McDonald highlight this sound. The classic quack is made when ducks are hungry, separated from the flock, or courting. Female ducks usually make the sound in a series of two ten quacks that begin loudly and get softer. Male ducks, on the other hand, do not create much of a sound at all. Instead, a male duck gives a quiet, rasping, short call. The louder, longer sound is the reason duck hunters want to mimic the female duck. Using duck calls to entice birds to land improves the odds of having a successful hunt. Although wooden and acrylic duck calls share many common characteristics, acrylic is a hunter s best choice. One similarity of both wood and acrylic duck calls is their design. The design consists of two parts: the barrel and the insert. The barrel is the large end of the duck call and is the mouthpiece. It is basically a tube that acts as the duck call sound generator and handle. Since it is the largest piece of the call, it is the end that is artistically designed.
  • 46. Barbara Bodichon s Suffrage Movement Barbara Bodichon committed herself to furthering the women s suffrage movement in a patriarchal England by publishing works in her feminist newspaper, petitioning Parliament, and by founding the first college in England that offered degree level education to women. Bodichon was an artist, feminist, and activist. She dedicated her life to fighting for equality, specifically in marriage. As a womanin Victorian England, she faced a ruling body of mostly married men who were opposed to change in their households, especially with their wives. Founding Girton College, which offered a higher level education for women, is her most recognized legacy, although her works extended far beyond that. The fight for women s rights in England exploded in the mid nineteenth century and saw figures like John Stuart Mill and Emmeline Pankhurst publishing feminist articles. The desire for equal rights had already existed and the leaders of the movement gave these women a voice. Goals varied depending on who was asked, but the overall goal of being equal with or closer to being equal with men was prevalent to them all. Some desired complete equality under the law ... Her unfamiliarity in modern history is nothing short of a tragedy. For she chose to voice her opinion in the face of criticism, act upon her beliefs in unforgiving circumstances and fight for what she felt was right when she knew that she would be ridiculed and called preposterous for it. As she stated in her writings I hope there are some who will brave ridicule for the sake of common justice for half the people in the world . She led those brave few and ended up winning rights for a person that had been undermined for hundreds of years prior:
  • 47. The Curious Case Of Polygamy Allison Roberts Dr. Neville Hoad: UGS303 May 7th, 2015 The Curious Case of Polygamy Abstract: As of 2015, thirty seven U.S. states have legalize same sex marriage, and with arguments in a landmark case currently being presented in the Supreme Court this month; there is little doubt that the modern definition of legal marriage will soon be forever changed in The United States. While same sex marriage is still the center of fierce debate and opposition from primarily religious conservatives, public opinion reflects a more tolerant social consensus. Despite this relatively recent legal trend of marriage law reform, same sex relationships are obviously nothing new. Like same sex relationships, polygamous relationships have also existed in the U.S. regardless of state recognition. Curiously, unlike same sex marriage, virtually no significant progress has been made for legal recognition of polyamorous unions. One could argue that poly progress is more than just stagnant, but moving in a negative direction considering Supreme Court rulings consistently upholding polygamy bans. Mainstream representation of polygamy, or debate and discussion on its merits seem virtually non existent, save the occasional voyeurism of reality television shows or liberalism of think pieces buried deep within online newspapers archives. Monogamy commands such extreme reinforcement in American culture that polygamy is unconsciously considered not up for debate, and synonymous with evil even across
