Depression Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of depression can be a challenging task for various reasons. Firstly,
the subject matter itself is inherently sensitive and requires a nuanced approach. Depression is a
complex mental health issue with multifaceted causes, symptoms, and treatment options.
Capturing the depth and breadth of this topic while maintaining accuracy and empathy is crucial.
Moreover, delving into the personal and often painful experiences of individuals who suffer
from depression demands a high level of sensitivity. It's important to balance the academic
aspects of the essay with a compassionate and understanding tone, avoiding any potential harm
or stigmatization.
Researching the topic thoroughly is essential, as depression is a dynamic field with ongoing
studies and evolving perspectives. Staying current with the latest research findings, treatment
modalities, and societal attitudes towards mental health is crucial for creating an informative and
relevant essay.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement that encompasses the multifaceted nature of depression
can be challenging. The essay should not merely scratch the surface but should provide a deep
understanding of the subject matter. Balancing statistical data with personal narratives, clinical
insights, and societal implications adds complexity to the writing process.
Addressing the stigma associated with depression and advocating for increased awareness and
empathy requires careful navigation. The essay should encourage open dialogue without
oversimplifying the issue or downplaying its severity.
In conclusion, writing an essay on depression necessitates a delicate balance between academic
rigor and empathy. It's an intricate task that demands thorough research, sensitivity, and an
understanding of the evolving nature of mental health discourse. While challenging, the potential
impact of such an essay in fostering understanding and compassion makes the effort worthwhile.

I Read Is Hatchet Book Report
Hatchet Book Report The book I read is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It is about a
thirteen year old boy named Brian. This story takes place in the Canadian wilderness
without a specified time. I think this book is both interesting and helpful because of
its contents.
To summarize the story, Brain was the sole passenger on the tiny Cessna 406 bush
plane. He was flying from the U.S. to Canada to spend summer break with his father
after his parents divorced. The pilot has a heart attack and the plane ends up crashing
in a lake after Brain controlling it for a few hours. Brain survived. He is now alone
in the wilderness. Al he has there are himself and a hatchet that his mom has given
him.
This book contains a few major characters and a few ... Show more content on

He kept telling himself There, keep it that way. Short thoughts. (44) he did that in
order to organize his thoughts and not freak out. I admire that part about him because
there won t be someone always there to help you. Sometimes you are the one who has
to comfort yourself.
Brain went through so much alone in the wilderness. He had faced wild animals
such as a bear, a skunk, and foxes. He knew how to deal with them for the most
part. When the foxes were near him, he knew to keep calm, not move, and wait
until they leave. When the bear entered his home, he scared it with fire so it won t
come back. The skunk had attacked him without a warning but Brian knew how to
deal with the aftermath. He ran to the lake, took off his clothes, and jumped in. If it
wasn t for this story, I wouldn t have know how to act when there is a dangerous
animal in me, how to build a home, or catch fish and food.
His first attempt to get food was search for fruit. He walked around keeping the lake
in his sight so he won t get lost. That was a smart move because I would have
wandered around forgetting about the lake. He wanted to stay by the lake not only
for the water but because when people come to rescue him, they will notice him by
the water rather than between trees. Which, again, I would have never thought about.
I also learned how to make fire, home, and catch fish thanks to him. When making a
fire, he needed fuel, so he got bark. He also needed oxygen, so he was
Statue Of Gudea Essay
The Statue of Gudea is a prehistoric piece created in 2090 B.C. The Statue of Gudea
is a sculpture in the round made of Diorite. This piece was made in the Neo
Sumerian period ( Statue of Gudea | Neo Sumerian | Neo Sumerian | The Met. ). The
Statue of Gudea uses pattern and depth to create an intriguing and complex ancient
piece.
The Statue of Gudea is made of a thick and heavy stone. Creating The Statue of
Gudea would take a significant amount of time to create, perhaps months or years.
There are also detailed inscriptions and patterns that would take a lot of focus and a
time to create. The Statue of Gudea has some imperfections and looks damaged in
some areas. The head of the statue is cracked at the bottom. This cracking makes me
believe the head has likely been reattached. There is also some chipping along the
neckline and on the cheek. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The face emphasizes the eyes. It does this by making the eyes larger than normal.
The oversizing creates an intense effect that brings attention to the eyes. Also, by
the eyes, are the eyebrows, which are also larger than usual, and even patterned.
This also draws attention toward the face of the piece. This makes me believe the
creator wanted attention to be drawn towards the eyes or face. This oversizing and
attention towards the eyes could be to show the power or intensity of the figure
/ person being created in The Statue of Gudea. There is also some highlights given
off in the eyes that bring focus to the area. The eye region also is given more detail
than the nose or mouth. The mouth is not showing any emotion, this could be done
to give the piece a more serious effect. The nose does not have any detail or
oversizing. However, attention is brought to the nose from the highlight given off.
There are also highlights on the right half of the face. All these details make the face
a main focal point of the
Background of PetSmart
Operating in 1197 stores in North America, PetSmart is the largest specialty retailer
of services and solutions for the lifetime needs of pets (PetSmart.com.PetSmart
Corporate: Investor Relations. 2012). The business of pets and pet care continues to
be a thriving and growing industry; the American Pet Products Association, or
APPA, estimated the calendar year 2010 market at approximately $47.7 billion, an
increase of more than 180% since calendar year 1994 (PetSmart.com. Investor
Relations. Annual Report. 2010). The industry s size and scope provides
opportunities for a range of business to compete for the pet owner s discretionary
spending; as such PetSmart must constantly innovate and offer consumers value
across their business model. The ongoing streamlining of the company s value chain
offers insight into two big ideas of economics: markets and voluntary exchange, and
choices and incentives. PetSmart PetSmart has been in operation since 1987 with a
mission to serve pet owners, termed pet parents by the company across multiple
product and service platforms (PetSmart.com.PetSmart Corporate: Company
Overview. 2012). PetSmart s goal is to capture an ever increasing share of the
dynamic pet market, which has 62% of households in the United States owning a pet,
equating to more than 71 million homes (PetSmart.com. Investor Relations. Annual
Report. 2010); by providing pet owners differentiated choices and value across key
categories: food and treats, supplies and
Apes and Behavioral Research
The term ape has been associated with imitation based on the behavioral research
carried out on apes that has shown that apes are good imitators. Many primatologists
who are against animal culture have argued that the learning of behaviors by apes is
not a form of social transmission but rather simple imitation. De Waal seems to refute
the scientific meaning of imitation which is defined by goals, rewards and
punishments. I think de Waal makes a compelling argument for the complexity of
imitations. He proposes three criteria for one to imitate which include; identification,
understanding the goal and having background knowledge on the task. Imitations
contain learning aspects within them. If they did not, humanbeings for example would
be able to do any physical activity that they wanted to, which is not the case.
De Waal makes also talks about a theory that some primatologists have come up with
to explain why human raised apes are better at imitating human behavior than wild
apes. Enculturation implies that human reared apes operate on a different mental
plane because they have benefited from human culture simulation. This way of
thinking is at the hallmark if speciesism. It implies that our form of culture helped the
apes tap into a mental ability that they wouldn t have if they were not raised by
humans. While others see enculturation as a way to show that animals lack culture,
de Waal proposes otherwise. He suggests that enculturation is a form of cultural
learning in
How Does Gone With The Wind Change
Scarlett s Lesson Scarlett O Hara is not an amiable person. In fact, she is written to
be disagreeable, and remains that way to the end of Margaret Mitchell s novel Gone
with the Wind. An altogether unpleasant character, Scarlett can be described as
headstrong, spoiled, immature, and selfish. By the book s conclusion, she does not
undergo any character development that increases her congeniality; however, she
does brave a myriad of harsh trials that shape her into a more dynamic and perceptive
woman. The agonizing hardships she endures transform her from a juvenile Southern
belle to a cunning and self sufficient breadwinner. Her evolution does not come about
instantly, though; initially, Scarlett O Hara cares only about two things: her home,...

This brings resentment from Suellen, who still has the mindset of a Southern belle.
When it appears as though Tara will recover, new taxes are placed upon the estate.
Upon finding out that Suellen s beau, Frank Kennedy, is wealthy, Scarlett acts in
desperation and charms him into marrying her. Wanting his new wife to be happy,
Frank gives Scarlett the tax money, thinking this will mollify her; but Scarlett wants
to be sure that she will never suffer poverty again, and takes control of Frank s
business. She becomes the town scandal, collecting money owed to Frank, doing
business with scalawags, and even buying her own sawmill. The business only leads
to trouble. After Scarlett is accosted one day, Frank and his fellow Ku Klux Klan
members raid the shantytown where the incident occurred, and Frank is shot dead.
Despite this tragedy, Scarlett continues with her business, remembering her vow. She
marries Rhett for fun and financial stability, but they have a falling out when their
daughter, Bonnie, breaks her neck while horseback riding. Scarlett blames Rhett for
the girl s death, and the two sink into a deep pit of despair, without the comfort of
each other to save them from the
Poseidon And Zeus In Greek Mythology
Poseidon is one of the twelve Olympian deities of the pantheon in Greek Mythology.
Zeus is the sky and thunder god in ancient Greek religion, who ruled as a king of the
gods of Mount Olympus.
Zeus and Poseidon are brothers and they are both gods in greek mythology. They

Poseidon and Zeus reflect on greek because they are both gods in greek mythology.

would turn into wild beasts. The brother drank from one and turned into a

What Challenges Did Rosa Parks Face
Most people usually think of Rosa Parks as an elderly african american women
who was just tired and just didn t want to get up, but that is really just some dumb
thing someone thought up in her time maybe the mean, unfair busdriver, but there is
a lot more to this 42 year old women who fought for her right as a colored women in
her time. I mean just think of all the challenges she faced, how she faced these
challenges, and what kind of characteristics she had to help her face these challenges.
So, the first thing I m going to talk about that she s faced is, and you might already
know, she didn t get up on the bus even when the white officials showed up to
collect her, and bring her to the police station to take her mugshot. She kept herself
together over all the time that the bus driver was ordering her to move, she was able
to conceal what made her angry, if you ask me, I find it hard to keep in all the
madness of anger. Rosa Parks did it as if it was nothing, at least that s how the people
who witnessed the act, that wasn t an act, describe it. What Rosa Parks did changed

just didn t think that they had what it took to make a change. You needed to be
brave, proud, and accepting of who you were, and most of all you had to be
willing to make a change. Most of the african american people and white people
didn t believe it would be possible that one, independent women could make a
change. The caucasian people of her time where always on their high horses, while
the blacks were like hermit crabs, hiding. But Rosa knew what she was doing.

Disrespect in The Sailor who Fell From Grace with the Sea and Wonderful Fool
Throughout various works of world literature, respect is a major concern amongst
the characters. This manifests itself in how the relationships between characters in
the work are characterized. Sometimes lack of proper respect can be an auxiliary
cause for conflict, while in other cases it can be the root of it. In Japanese culture,
respect is considered very important in the relationships between different people;
for example, it is customary to bow to one s elders and respect those of superior
knowledge and ability. Failure to show such respect is taken offensively and
considered extremely disrespectful. This important concept of disrespect ... Show

Contradicting these philosophies is the character of Gaston Bonaparte in Shusaku
Endo s Wonderful Fool. Gaston realizes that I m a fool ... a weakling! and that his
mental capacities are somewhat limited (Endo 179). He is not offended when he
is patronized; rather he is quite accustomed to it. He is described as . . . a coward,
a simpleton, who had gone from one failure to the next. . . . From the time he was
a child Gaston too had always been laughed at and made fun of by his brothers and
friends (Endo 73). His friends also nicknamed him poplar , because In Gaston s
native region of Savoy, large men who are thought to be somewhat simple are called
poplars. . . . the wood of the poplar tree is not good for anything but matchsticks.
(Endo 73). Gaston, since his friends and loved ones mocked his stupidity and
ridiculed him throughout his childhood and adolescence because of this, accepts that
he is intellectually inept and has limits on his mental capacities. Gaston is used to
being patronized and viewed as a simpleton; this allows him to better tolerate the
disrespect that the character Endo will give him throughout the novel.

Summary And Symbolism In John Collier s Annunciation
Christian artwork is used to represent and symbolise the Gospel and important
figures. Not all individuals could read and write, therefore images were very
important in delivering messages and teachings. One artwork chosen is Annunciation
by John Collier created in 2003. This modern artwork shows Gabriel asking Maryif
she would become the mother of Jesus. The other one is the Holy Night Nativity
Scene by Antonio Correggio created in 1530, which focuses on and sets the scene of
Jesus birth.
The Annunciation displays the moment Gabriel was sent by God to tell Mary she
would become pregnant. This is present in the passage God sent angel Gabriel to a
virgin and he said to Mary God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and
give birth to a son and call his name Jesus (Luke 1:26 33).
The artwork depicts Mary as a very young and innocent women, which is aided by
her modern school inspired dress.
In the background, there are houses of a 21st century style of living in the suburbs,
making the setting familiar and relatable and allows the audience to feel connected to
Mary. Therefore, the emotions and thoughts of Mary is as she comprehends Gods
wishes can be further understood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the artwork, lilies are displayed to symbolise motherhood, which Mary is about
to embark on and also symbolises purity and faith. The dove on the roof of the
neighbor s house represents the Holy Spirit, showing that God is looking over her,
awaiting her response. This is displayed in scripture as the Holy Spirit descended
in bodily form, like a dove (Luke 3:22). Mary is also holding the book Prophet
Isaiah which states that a virgin will conceive a child. This foreshadows the events
about to unfold. Under Mary s feet, there is a welcoming mat which symbolises that
Mary will welcome Gabriel s news and the path God has chosen for her with open

made the fair so special to myself are changing more and more every year. These
memories of attending the fair as a child bring a sense of joy and relaxation
surrounded by friends and family. Nowadays, the fair goer s attention seems to be
more focused on social media than being present. This is noticeable with the amount
of younger kids one may see at the fairgrounds, those fair sounds heard, and the food
stands around. The fair is using things such as; Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter to
try grab the attention of today s youth. Just on Facebook alone the have implemented
such things as the medallion hunt clues, a game where people need to identify

Seven Correctional Models
Since the formation of US correctional system, seven correctional models have been
identified as part of the correctional system in place in the US. According, to Colle,
(1998), there were seven correctional models from the 1660s through 1990s in the US
correctional system. These models include; colonial, penitentiary, reformatory,
progressive, medical, community, and crime control. 1.Colonial Correction model
The colonial method of correction was adopted in the early 1620s.Since the
introduction of this method, Americans lived under laws and practices adopted from
different colonial masters such as England. The major penalties under these laws
included, corporal punishment, banishment and death. In 1682, Americans faced

Four major principles came in place through Penitentiary Act of 1779 that emphasized
on hard labor in a house for criminal offenders. These principles included; 1.A secure
and sanitary building 2.Inspection to ensure that offenders followed rules 3.Abolition
of fees charged on offenders for their food 4.A reformatory regime. 3.Reformatory
correctional Method. Reformatory correctional method adopted protection in place of
punishment to offenders. According to reformatory correctional method,
indeterminate sentence instead of time sentence and rehabilitation rather than
restraint were better methods of correction. Apart from imprisonment and other forms
of punishment, aspect of protection was critical for the offenders. (Cao, Zhao Van
Dine, 1997). 4.Progressive correctional method Progressive correctional method
sought to change the system of correction under the principle of (1) improving the
social conditions and environment that breeds the crime (2) Rehabilitation of
individual crime offenders. Propagandists of progressives understood crime as a
crime of the urban centers and therefore offenders were more in urban population
than remote

Comparing Skepticism And Dreaming Argument
Skepticism is one of the most important debates in philosophy, skepticism could be
describe as the doubt or refusing attitude towards reality and knowledge. This idea of
doubting knowledge has been around since the 1st century BC with the foundation of
the Greek skeptic school known as Pyrrhonism. Since that time, the idea of skepticism
has remained the same and many people from our time still questioning themselves
about reality; How can I be certain about reality, if I cannot even trust my own
senses? . One of the many examples of this belief is Rene Descartes and his
famous Dreaming Argument ; where he states that everything that we know is
only part of a dream, a dream where nobody wants to wake up because we feel
comfortable on it and we are afraid that reality could be cruel. However, due to the

Just as there are several philosophers that belief in skepticism, there also exist a
counterpart, a group of philosophers that think that skepticism is an absurd concept.
One of the anti skeptic members is the famous English philosopher G.E. Moore.
One of Moore s most famous works is A Defense of Common Sense in which he
tries to deny skepticism by saying that there are several things that we are absolutely
convince on, things like common sense. Moore begins his Defense of Common
Sense by simply enunciating a list of truism to prove that he has at least some
knowledge, and that there are at least some beliefs about the world that we certainly
know about. On this first section Moore starts saying:
I. I know that I was born at some point of time.

The Accumulation Of Debt And Its Affects On Mental And...
Thesis: The accumulation of debt not only affects a person s financial health, but also
their mental and physical health even slight debt is linked to cases of emotional and
health related issues.
This article focuses specifically on accruing student loan debt and its affects on
mental and physical health of younger people. This is introduced by explaining that
president Barack Obama is aware of the high cost of education and that the
government is working on a way to help students avoid the accumulation of loan debt
. There is factual information regarding a study done by Northwestern University
which focused on the link between student loan debt, high blood pressure, and poor
mental health. The author of the study concluded that there were strong links
between debt and depression as well as debt and suicidal thoughts. The article then
goes into more detail about the consequences of poor mental health, such as poor
dietary choices and substance abuse. Although this article discusses one study that
was conducted on the topic, the lead author of the study, Elizabeth Sweet, suggests
that more research should be done. Sweet is planning on furthering her exploration of
debt s affects on mental and physical health in a five year study.
The information in the article is reliable and unbiased. A majority of the information
is cold, hard facts from a conducted study on the issue of mental and physical effects
of student loan debt, which is completely unbiased. The goal of the

4am. Be at the boathouse tomorrow at 4am, Coach reminded us as we finished
preparing our boats. Everyone groaned. As much as the first race of the new

we did it. The next morning everyone showed up and was ready to take a bus for
the next 3 hours. While some half asleep teenagers arrived earlier than others, by
4:30am the team was on the bus and ready to leave. The bus ride from Crystal Lake

After five and a half hours of getting everything ready to go, it s finally time for the
Men s 8+ boat to leave the dock. This is most of the guys first race of the season,
besides those who raced earlier that day in the Men s 4+ race. After a couple of
minutes of pre race pump up in a circle (seriously, we did that), it s time to get all
hands on the boat. We bring the boat down to the dock master, the official who
approves the boat s eligibility to race, and find out that we aren t allowed on the
dock. No, we didn t have an illegal engine hidden under the boat to propel us to the
finish line (although that would be pretty cool), but the regatta was running
behind schedule. It became clear that we would have to wait even longer. As we
waited for the time to come for us to put our boat in the water, it was easy to get
annoyed with the officials. Especially after putting the boat in the water and being
asked to bring it back off of the dock to wait yet again. Nonetheless, we had to
move past the fact that we had been waiting for hours. We had to get our game
faces on. When it was time to actually shove off the dock, nobody was truly in the
zone . The row up the Mississippi River to the start line, which was against the
current and the wind, also didn t help. Plus, once we were at the start line, we had to
wait a few more minutes for the other boats to get there also. I have never wanted to

Role Of Family Factors On Influencing The Environment
2.Roles of family factors on influencing the CBBE
As mentioned in the introduction, Gil, AndrГ©s and Salina (2007) have mentioned
that family can affect brand awarenss, associations and perceived quality of a brand.
Brand awareness is linked with brand salience. It refers to the ability of customers to
recognise a brand in various circumstances. It can be seperated into breadth and
depth of brand awareness. Breadth of awareness represents the different
circumstances among various products offered that customers can recall the brand.
Depth of awareness represents the degree to which a customer can recall a brand
(Keller K. L., 1993). Values and memories of a family can influence customers to

It can enhance loyalty of customers to the brand (Gil, AndrГ©s and Salina, 2007).
Moreover, reputation and socio economic background of the family are interrelated
to brand resonance. Socio economic background of a family can foster or destroy
loyalty. Japan has a culture which focus on collectiveness and social loyalty. But
plutocrat such as Toyota in Japan can destroy this social loyalty by not sharing
capital and technologies to others (Gu, Hung and Tse, 2008). Furthermore, Gu, Hung
and Tse (2008) have discovered that Guanxi can generate reputation of both the
family and the business. Guanxi is the social network of a firm to establish
competitive advantage in the business environment. It is popular in the Chinese
culture by leveraging guanxi to deal with business matters. Guanxi can be kinships
or other social bonds of the family within the society. They can be treated as family
reputation and are valuable social capital to the family owned firms (Wright and
Kellermanns, 2011). These social capital can affect the relationship with customers,
especially with channel members. They can also affect brand performance. However,
this can be weakened by increasing competition in the market (Gu, Hung and Tse,
2008).
As for brand performance, Gu, Hung and Tse (2008) suggested that Guanxi, which
represents the reputation and socio economic background of the family can affect

introduced species are a problem. In fact, some may be useful such as plants that
serve for food. Most of these introduced plants were either purposely or accidentally
brought over by people. The reason that some of these introduced plants become so
overwhelming for native plants is still not clear. Introduced plants normally do well
in the habitats that are similar to the habitats they originated from and have
characteristics that allow them to dominate with the native plants. It is still unclear
why some of the introduced plants have an overwhelming impact on the native
plants. An example of this would be an introduced plant that flowers more
frequently and produces more seeds. For a plant to do this, it would be able to gain
a stronger advantage over the native plants because it could reproduce faster and take

Tobacco And Tobacco
Tobacco became very popular in Europe when brought by Christopher Columbus. On
October 15, 1492, Christopher Columbus was offered dried tobacco leaves as a gift
from the American Indians that he encountered. Soon after, sailors brought tobacco
back to Europe, and the plant was being grown all over Europe (University of
Dayton). It was popular throughout the ages till scientific studies found out that
tobaccoproducts are very harmful to the human body. The chemicals in the tobacco
products harm the human body functions. Therefore, using tobacco products will
gradually affect on its users health, such as their lungs, immune system, stomach,
mouth, skin and heat, because tobacco products contain almost 4,000 chemicals in
them, such as nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide, and carcinogenic compounds.
When people met tobacco at first, they liked it and used it. It didn t have any
dangerous chemicals at that time because tobacco products were not mixed with the
dangerous chemicals. Therefore, people used it just as nicotine that was less harmless
than the nowadays tobacco products. For example, there are approximately 600
ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 7,000 chemicals. At
least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous
(Lung.org). The chemicals as below:
Acetone found in nail polish remover
Acetic Acid an ingredient in hair dye
Ammonia a common household cleaner
Arsenic used in rat poison

Negative Effects Of Grand Theft Auto
Video games are a part of most everybody s life, whether it be on their phone, a
handheld gaming device, or on a console and tv setup. Not all of the games are
made for toddlers or children under 13, so its safe to say that there are some that can
be on the heavier side with the gore and explicit content. These gamescan get brutal
and they Grand Theft Auto is definitely one of those games that can get to be too
much for some people. Grand Theft Auto has negative effects on the society because
of the foul language, sexual content, exposure to violence, and drugs involved
throughout the game. Grand Theft Auto , like many games, has a lot of foul
language throughout its gameplay, but it takes it a bit further. The F word gets
thrown around every other sentence either after or followed by sh*t and/or b**ch.
The civilians are even known to swear at the player for when they feel threatened.
Games should not be allowed to be exposing any age group to this much foul
language just in a game. They use these swear words too often throughout the
game and there is no reason for such strong language so often in a short period of
time. The game should not be played by children or anyone who will tend to repeat
a word once learned. It could teach children a lot of swear words that they could end
up using at school or teaching to another classmate or friend. This language from
kids can get them in a lot of trouble from their teachers, principle and parents.

They had to request for mutual aid from the encompassing jurisdictions for any

transportation and shelter.
The Local, State and Federal agencies were called to investigate the Station Nightclub
fire incident and they found many issues. The polyurethane foam that was on the
interior walls was the major factor in the Station Nightclub fire. It was easily
ignited and also contributed to a faster fire spread within the building. According
to NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, the interior finish is required to be Class A or B for
general assembly areas with occupant loads of more than 300. It has been
calculated that the number of occupants at the Station Nightclub was around 440
458 people, obviously well over this limit. The ignition of polyurethane foam gave
out a magnitude of smoke and heat in such a short period of time and created mass
chaos, thus resulting in a crowd wide panic towards the initial entry point. Also
NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, section 13.2.3.6.1 states that the main entrance/exit
shall be of a width that accommodates one half of the total occupant load and shall
be at the level of exit discharge or shall connect to a stairway or ramp leading to a

The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is a television series which follows the story of a disease
causing infection that caused the Earth to be dominated by a zombie apocalypse.
A group of survivors gets forced to fight for their lives against man/eating zombies.
The main character in the show is Rick Grimes, a Sheriff Deputy who had been
shot prior to the apocalypse event. Rick was later taken to a local hospital before the
zombie epidemic. Rick awakens from a coma in which he finds himself in a hospital
alone. He noticed that he is in a world that is different than anything he has ever seen
before. Throughout the series Rick shows authority, and strength which shows his
machismo over the group. The series exemplifies how masculinity, femininity, and
values are represented in the relationships of the surviving characters and how these
individualities are especially inflated throughout the show. In the first few episodes of
the Walking Deadseries you see the relationships between a few survivors, and how
they ethically help each other overcome the adversities in the zombie prophetic
world. As Rick and his group travel through a series of terrains they are forced to
make serious decisions in which impact everyone in the group, especially, those
whom Rick feel an obligation to lead (masculinity role). As a group they have a

Who s Irish By Gish Jen Analysis

5.Describe the key similarities and differences between Spanish and English
Language.
There are many similarities between English and Spanish. Both languages use the
Roman alphabet. This helps ELL s build a phonemic and phonological foundation.
Plus, 30% to 40% of all words in English have a related word in Spanish; with similar
sound, appearance, and meaning, these cognates help students transfer that word
knowledge into their second language. Additionally, when learningto read and write,
both languages uses the same basic processes (phonemic awareness, decoding,
fluency, comprehension, writing mechanics).
Perhaps the greatest difference between English and Spanish is that Spanish has only
five vowel sounds while English has more than 14, depending on regional

At current production levels, it is estimated that these known coal reserves will
last over 200 years. (Coal Facts) Some of the major producers of hard coal include
China 1,029 megatons (mt.), United States 914 mt., India 290 mt., and Australia
225 mt. (Coal Facts) Before coal was used to generate fuel, it was considered to be
a widespread and abundant resource. Today the supply of coal has decreased
significantly and it is acknowledged that there is not enough coal to last forever if
the current consumption rate continues. Each year the world uses coal with little
consideration of how much if left and how much longer it will last. Consumption
rates of global hard coal throughout the world were 2,721 megatons (mt.) in 1979,
3,579 mt. in 1989, and 3,465 mt. in 1999. (Coal Facts) Uranium is also a natural
element on Earth. It is found everywhere in the earth s surface. It is a metal and
looks like lead. It is believed that when the earth was forming and was only particles
of dust floating in space coming together, nearby stars exploded and let off uranium.
The earth s gravity pulled in the uranium and it was mixed together with the dirt and
other particles. That is how we have uranium today. (Thomas) As of 1977 known
uranium reserves contained 690,000 tons. This includes about 90,000 tons produced
as by products of phosphate and copper mining. The current price for a pound of

Overview of the United States Air Force Art Collection
The conditions of war are rather difficult and require a great deal of concentration
and determination. This is one of the reasons for which the United States Army has
developed several mechanisms through which its soldiers and recruits can ensure a
wider variety of recreational activities that drive them away from the stress of
everyday assignments. These include art and music, which are essential for relieving
some of the pressures that soldiers face in their duty. There have been numerous
attempts through which aspects such as art and music have come to be connected
with war like conditions and that have determined an improved state of mind of the
soldiers. At the same time however, there is a constant need to further contemplate
the activities undergone by soldiers through different manifestation of recreational
endeavors that include, among others, art and music. The United States Air Force
has provided the necessary background to encourage the establishment and further
development of an artistic view on the activities undergone by its members through
the US Air Force Art program. One of the main aspects of the mission of the
program is The United States Air Force Art Collection documents the story of the Air
Force through the universal language of art. The actions and deeds of Air Force men
and women are recorded in paintings by eminent American artists in a way words
alone could never tell. These paintings are both historical and educational and expose

The Rise Of The Italian Renaissance
The Italian Renaissance, in contrast to the conservative attitude of the Middle Ages,
introduced a society dominated by a secular, humanistic spirit. One of the most
historically significant events of the Renaissance was the Reformation. Some people
argue that the Reformation was a rejection the secular spirit of the Italian Renaissance
. Others assert that the Reformation was an embracement of these secular ideas.
However as with many questions, this issue cannot be given a definite answer. The
events of sixteenth century Europe shows that the Reformation rejected secular ideas
in some ways and embraced them in others. Martin Lutherdefied the Catholic Church
and formed his own ideas on salvation, embracing secularism. In England, Henry VIII
would reject Catholic authority, thereby accepting the secular spirit. However, he
also rejected secularism by continuing to uphold traditional Catholic theology.
Edward VI and Mary I would both establish national religion, of which there was no
questioning, and reject the secular spirit. Elizabeth I also established a national
religion, but her more conservative religious policies reflected her embracement of
secular ideas. On the other hand, John Calvin created a religious sect that was
dedicated to ardent religious devotion and righteousness, thereby rejecting secularism.
Thus, the Reformation both rejected and embraced the secular spirit of the Italian
Renaissance.
In order to effectively analyze the Reformation in relation the

1. What led to the success of Maine and Kentucky s Temporary Assistance to Needy
families Post Secondary Reform movements?
Maine is a small state that is not terribly diverse in it s population. Ethnic and racial
minorities make up just less that 2 percent of its population (U.S. Census Bureau).
Maine has also been considered one of the more poorer states. Maine s economy
relies heavily on tourist seasons and with a slow economy, unemployment, under
employment and low paying jobs occur. (Price, 2005).
When is came to challenge the Temporary Assistance to Needy families reform
movement, Maine was the first state to successfully do so. Maine is state that is
committed to education. Under the Reagan administration there was a federal Work
Incentive Demonstration project ,which allowed women on welfare the chance to go
to college, the state s advocates convinced the Department of Human Services to take
advantage of this program. Fortunately for Maine, the state tends to promote
accessibility to all citizens, which is not common amongst state welfare
bureaucracies. The advocates recognized that education was a way to get rid of
poverty, not to mention empower women and potentially stimulate their economy.
Eventually, this demonstration came to be known as ASPIRE. (Price, 2005).
Interestingly, the road to reform in Maine started when a woman overheard a

Taking a Look at Urinary Incontinence
Between the ages of 20 40 women are at their height of physical capabilities: their
muscles are strong, their nervous systems are capable, and their urinary tract
allows them the choice of whether or not to urinate (unknown, 2013). Over the
course of a woman s life she has children, ages, and finally reaches menopause. The
average age when a woman becomes menopausal is 51 (unknown, 2013). Several
changes happen to a woman s body during menopause including poorer bladder and
urinary control. For those women who have avoided doing Kegel exercises, are
overweight, and have poor dietary and lifestyle habits, the risk for incontinence is
greater (Bardsley, 2012). As time goes on incontinence may occur with more
frequency and is less controllable. Embarrassment prevents most women from
seeking treatment. It is estimated that 42 % of women wait approximately 15 years
before seeking help (Bardsley, 2012). Becoming knowledgeable and aware of urinary
changes is the first step in managing the embarrassing symptoms of urinary
incontinence. Urinary incontinence is a real and disruptive condition that may affect
all age groups but, in particular, post menopausal women. The urinary system is
composed of the kidney, ureters, bladder, and urethra. At the end of the urethra is the
urethral sphincter which is a band of muscle in the wall of the urethra that controls
the release of urine from the body. Typically, the urethral sphincter remains closed
except during urination. The
Monopolies, Oligopoly, Monopolistic Competition, And...
Monopolies
When understanding the different types f structures it is important to know the
different types of markets that there are. Understanding barriers, buyers and sellers
with knowing the market share and competition is important to understand what
barriers are occurring in the market. The different market structures are Monopoly,
Oligopoly, Monopolistic Competition, and Perfect Competition.
Understanding these different type of market structures helps to better understand
what type of market is currently occurring. A monopoly is when the companies are
state owned and there is no other entry allowed into the market. An oligopoly is when
there are many buyers with few sellers which is what makes for tough competition.
Monopolistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do so would be to discourage the very effort and innovation that competitive
markets are designed to encourage. On the other hand, antitrust authorities have no
reason to allow an enterprise to be an economic bully vis a vis outsiders and
innovators, just because it has received a position of market dominance through
past exertions, whether economic or political (Baker, 1993). When we look at
monopolies in today s current market in the telecommunications industry, many
people fear that AT T will overtake the landline communications market and cause
higher prices for all consumers. There are rules that prevent AT T from telling
smaller landline companies that connection exchange rates on the lines will
double or triple if they go over AT T owned or leased lines. This would cause AT T
to monopolize the market if they were allowed to do this because it would cause
higher prices and eliminate competition in the market. On the other hand of the AT T
market, they also operate a cellular communications business which also was trying
to buy T Mobile recently but was struck down in court as it would create a mobile
monopoly. If AT T was able to purchase T Mobile then they would have owned 43.3
percent of the marketshare, leaving Verizon behind them at 34.4 percent and Sprint at
15.5 percent with some other smaller carriers with the remaining percentage of
marketshare. The

Depression Essay.pdf

  • 1. Depression Essay Writing an essay on the topic of depression can be a challenging task for various reasons. Firstly, the subject matter itself is inherently sensitive and requires a nuanced approach. Depression is a complex mental health issue with multifaceted causes, symptoms, and treatment options. Capturing the depth and breadth of this topic while maintaining accuracy and empathy is crucial. Moreover, delving into the personal and often painful experiences of individuals who suffer from depression demands a high level of sensitivity. It's important to balance the academic aspects of the essay with a compassionate and understanding tone, avoiding any potential harm or stigmatization. Researching the topic thoroughly is essential, as depression is a dynamic field with ongoing studies and evolving perspectives. Staying current with the latest research findings, treatment modalities, and societal attitudes towards mental health is crucial for creating an informative and relevant essay. Crafting a compelling thesis statement that encompasses the multifaceted nature of depression can be challenging. The essay should not merely scratch the surface but should provide a deep understanding of the subject matter. Balancing statistical data with personal narratives, clinical insights, and societal implications adds complexity to the writing process. Addressing the stigma associated with depression and advocating for increased awareness and empathy requires careful navigation. The essay should encourage open dialogue without oversimplifying the issue or downplaying its severity. In conclusion, writing an essay on depression necessitates a delicate balance between academic rigor and empathy. It's an intricate task that demands thorough research, sensitivity, and an understanding of the evolving nature of mental health discourse. While challenging, the potential impact of such an essay in fostering understanding and compassion makes the effort worthwhile. • 2. I Read Is Hatchet Book Report Hatchet Book Report The book I read is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It is about a thirteen year old boy named Brian. This story takes place in the Canadian wilderness without a specified time. I think this book is both interesting and helpful because of its contents. To summarize the story, Brain was the sole passenger on the tiny Cessna 406 bush plane. He was flying from the U.S. to Canada to spend summer break with his father after his parents divorced. The pilot has a heart attack and the plane ends up crashing in a lake after Brain controlling it for a few hours. Brain survived. He is now alone in the wilderness. He kept telling himself There, keep it that way. Short thoughts. (44) he did that in order to organize his thoughts and not freak out. I admire that part about him because there won t be someone always there to help you. Sometimes you are the one who has to comfort yourself. Brain went through so much alone in the wilderness. He had faced wild animals such as a bear, a skunk, and foxes. He knew how to deal with them for the most part. When the foxes were near him, he knew to keep calm, not move, and wait until they leave. When the bear entered his home, he scared it with fire so it won t come back. The skunk had attacked him without a warning but Brian knew how to deal with the aftermath. He ran to the lake, took off his clothes, and jumped in. If it wasn t for this story, I wouldn t have know how to act when there is a dangerous animal in me, how to build a home, or catch fish and food. His first attempt to get food was search for fruit. He walked around keeping the lake in his sight so he won t get lost. That was a smart move because I would have wandered around forgetting about the lake. He wanted to stay by the lake not only for the water but because when people come to rescue him, they will notice him by the water rather than between trees. Which, again, I would have never thought about. I also learned how to make fire, home, and catch fish thanks to him. When making a fire, he needed fuel, so he got bark. He also needed oxygen, so he was

This makes me believe the creator wanted attention to be drawn towards the eyes or face. There is also some highlights given off in the eyes that bring focus to the area. The eye region also is given more detail than the nose or mouth. The mouth is not showing any emotion, this could be done to give the piece a more serious effect. The nose does not have any detail or oversizing. • 5. Apes and Behavioral Research The term ape has been associated with imitation based on the behavioral research carried out on apes that has shown that apes are good imitators. Many primatologists who are against animal culture have argued that the learning of behaviors by apes is not a form of social transmission but rather simple imitation. De Waal seems to refute the scientific meaning of imitation which is defined by goals, rewards and punishments. I think de Waal makes a compelling argument for the complexity of imitations. He proposes three criteria for one to imitate which include; identification, understanding the goal and having background knowledge on the task. Imitations contain learning aspects within them. If they did not, humanbeings for example would be able to do any physical activity that they wanted to, which is not the case. De Waal makes also talks about a theory that some primatologists have come up with to explain why human raised apes are better at imitating human behavior than wild apes. Enculturation implies that human reared apes operate on a different mental plane because they have benefited from human culture simulation. This way of thinking is at the hallmark if speciesism. It implies that our form of culture helped the apes tap into a mental ability that they wouldn t have if they were not raised by humans. While others see enculturation as a way to show that animals lack culture, de Waal proposes otherwise. He suggests that enculturation is a form of cultural learning in

After a couple of minutes of pre race pump up in a circle (seriously, we did that), it s time to get all hands on the boat. We bring the boat down to the dock master, the official who approves the boat s eligibility to race, and find out that we aren t allowed on the dock. No, we didn t have an illegal engine hidden under the boat to propel us to the finish line (although that would be pretty cool), but the regatta was running behind schedule. It became clear that we would have to wait even longer. As we waited for the time to come for us to put our boat in the water, it was easy to get annoyed with the officials. Especially after putting the boat in the water and being asked to bring it back off of the dock to wait yet again. Nonetheless, we had to move past the fact that we had been waiting for hours. We had to get our game faces on. When it was time to actually shove off the dock, nobody was truly in the zone . The row up the Mississippi River to the start line, which was against the current and the wind, also didn t help. Plus, once we were at the start line, we had to wait a few more minutes for the other boats to get there also. I have never wanted to just race as much

Socio economic background of a family can foster or destroy loyalty. Japan has a culture which focus on collectiveness and social loyalty. But plutocrat such as Toyota in Japan can destroy this social loyalty by not sharing capital and technologies to others (Gu, Hung and Tse, 2008). Furthermore, Gu, Hung and Tse (2008) have discovered that Guanxi can generate reputation of both the family and the business. However, not all introduced species are a problem. In fact, some may be useful such as plants that serve for food. Most of these introduced plants were either purposely or accidentally brought over by people. The reason that some of these introduced plants become so overwhelming for native plants is still not clear. Introduced plants normally do well in the habitats that are similar to the habitats they originated from and have characteristics that allow them to dominate with the native plants. It is still unclear why some of the introduced plants have an overwhelming impact on the native plants. An example of this would be an introduced plant that flowers more frequently and produces more seeds. One of the most historically significant events of the Renaissance was the Reformation. Some people argue that the Reformation was a rejection the secular spirit of the Italian Renaissance . Others assert that the Reformation was an embracement of these secular ideas. However as with many questions, this issue cannot be given a definite answer. The events of sixteenth century Europe shows that the Reformation rejected secular ideas in some ways and embraced them in others. Martin Lutherdefied the Catholic Church and formed his own ideas on salvation, embracing secularism. In England, Henry VIII would reject Catholic authority, thereby accepting the secular spirit. However, he also rejected secularism by continuing to uphold traditional Catholic theology. Elizabeth I also established a national religion, but her more conservative religious policies reflected her embracement of secular ideas. On the other hand, John Calvin created a religious sect that was dedicated to ardent religious devotion and righteousness, thereby rejecting secularism. Thus, the Reformation both rejected and embraced the secular spirit of the Italian Renaissance. In order to effectively analyze the Reformation in relation the

What led to the success of Maine and Kentucky s Temporary Assistance to Needy families Post Secondary Reform movements? Maine is a small state that is not terribly diverse in it s population. Ethnic and racial minorities make up just less that 2 percent of its population (U.S. Census Bureau). Maine has also been considered one of the more poorer states. Maine s economy relies heavily on tourist seasons and with a slow economy, unemployment, under employment and low paying jobs occur. (Price, 2005). When is came to challenge the Temporary Assistance to Needy families reform movement, Maine was the first state to successfully do so. Maine is state that is committed to education. Under the Reagan administration there was a federal Work Incentive Demonstration project ,which allowed women on welfare the chance to go to college, the state s advocates convinced the Department of Human Services to take advantage of this program. Fortunately for Maine, the state tends to promote accessibility to all citizens, which is not common amongst state welfare bureaucracies. The advocates recognized that education was a way to get rid of poverty, not to mention empower women and potentially stimulate their economy. Taking a Look at Urinary Incontinence Between the ages of 20 40 women are at their height of physical capabilities: their muscles are strong, their nervous systems are capable, and their urinary tract allows them the choice of whether or not to urinate (unknown, 2013). Over the course of a woman s life she has children, ages, and finally reaches menopause. The average age when a woman becomes menopausal is 51 (unknown, 2013). Several changes happen to a woman s body during menopause including poorer bladder and urinary control. For those women who have avoided doing Kegel exercises, are overweight, and have poor dietary and lifestyle habits, the risk for incontinence is greater (Bardsley, 2012). As time goes on incontinence may occur with more frequency and is less controllable. Embarrassment prevents most women from seeking treatment. It is estimated that 42 % of women wait approximately 15 years before seeking help (Bardsley, 2012). Becoming knowledgeable and aware of urinary changes is the first step in managing the embarrassing symptoms of urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence is a real and disruptive condition that may affect all age groups but, in particular, post menopausal women. The urinary system is composed of the kidney, ureters, bladder, and urethra. To do so would be to discourage the very effort and innovation that competitive markets are designed to encourage. On the other hand, antitrust authorities have no reason to allow an enterprise to be an economic bully vis a vis outsiders and innovators, just because it has received a position of market dominance through past exertions, whether economic or political (Baker, 1993). When we look at monopolies in today s current market in the telecommunications industry, many people fear that AT T will overtake the landline communications market and cause higher prices for all consumers. There are rules that prevent AT T from telling smaller landline companies that connection exchange rates on the lines will double or triple if they go over AT T owned or leased lines. This would cause AT T to monopolize the market if they were allowed to do this because it would cause higher prices and eliminate competition in the market. On the other hand of the AT T market, they also operate a cellular communications business which also was trying to buy T Mobile recently but was struck down in court as it would create a mobile monopoly. If AT T was able to purchase T Mobile then they would have owned 43.3 percent of the marketshare, leaving Verizon behind them at 34.4 percent and Sprint at 15.5 percent with some other smaller carriers with the remaining percentage of marketshare.
