English Essay Structure
Crafting an essay on the topic of "English Essay Structure" may seem deceptively
straightforward at first glance. After all, it's a subject that revolves around the very essence of
essay writing itself. However, delving into the intricacies of this topic reveals a complexity that
can be both challenging and intellectually stimulating.
To begin with, one must navigate the vast landscape of essay structures, ranging from the
classical five-paragraph essay to more sophisticated and nuanced approaches. Understanding the
purpose of each section – introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion – is essential, but
the real challenge lies in mastering the art of seamless transitions between these components.
Achieving a flow that captivates the reader while maintaining coherence demands careful
consideration and practice.
The challenge extends beyond mere structural elements. A successful essay on English Essay
Structure necessitates a profound comprehension of language nuances, rhetorical devices, and
the subtle interplay between words and ideas. It demands a balance between conciseness and
depth, clarity and complexity.
Moreover, adapting the essay to the specific requirements of the audience and purpose adds
another layer of complexity. Is the essay meant for academic scrutiny, casual readership, or a
specialized audience? Each demands a unique approach, forcing the writer to carefully tailor
their language, tone, and examples to suit the intended audience.
Furthermore, keeping abreast of evolving writing conventions and styles, particularly in the
dynamic landscape of modern communication, is an ongoing challenge. The traditional structures
may be subject to evolution, and contemporary expectations for engaging and impactful writing
may require constant reevaluation.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of "English Essay Structure" involves a
multifaceted endeavor. It's not just about arranging words on paper; it's about orchestrating a
symphony of ideas, language, and structure to communicate effectively. Navigating this intricate
terrain requires dedication, skill, and a deep understanding of the art of written expression.

Game Of Thrones Controversy
The widely popular TV series, Game of Thrones, has produced a slew of new
movie stars. After all, Game of Thrones is arguably the most popular television
show on the planet (Walking Dead fans might disagree) so it only makes sense that
whenever one of its stars is cast in movie, whether it s Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke,
or Peter Dinklage (just to name a few), an up tick in interest is expected.
Up and coming actress Natalie Dormer fits the same mold currently playing Queen
Margaery on Game of Thrones. As such, her visibility landed her a supporting role in
immensely popular film series, The Hunger Games not to mention a brief stint on the
CBS drama, Elementary. And, it was only a matter of time before she secured a
starring role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In turn, this is sloppily cut film and a poor first effort from director Jason Zada. He
doesn t capture nearly enough emotion from either of his two characters for
viewers to truly care if they live or die (although Game of Thrones fans will pull
for Dormer or at least one version of her, to make it out alive). The funny part is
those that should ultimately have survived end up as casualties, while the one person
(if any) that should have fallen victim to the forest manages to walk out like alive
looking like he/she just accidentally won the
Case Study on the California High Speed Rail System Essay
A Case Study on the California High Speed Rail System (CAHSR) Is It Feasible?
By Hardeep Ramesh, MS ISE Engineering Economics (ISE 460) University of
Southern California December 3, 2010 Abstract: California High Speed Rail
(CHSR) system is a mega project planned by the California High Speed Rail
Authority (CA HSRA), connecting the major metropolitan areas of California. The
project finalized in mid 2000, is estimated to be one of the most expensive of its
kind. It is in the lines of the high speed rail systems existing in France, Japan and
China. The cost of the total project, which will cover around 800 miles, is estimated
to be around $45 billion as of 2008. At this time of economic instability and no proper

The capital and operating maintenance costs are much easily determined using the
data available from the data from CA HSRA. Sources of benefits: 1. Intercity
passenger revenue; 2. Benefits to both intercity and urban high speed train
passengers (net of fares paid); 3. Reduction of airside delay for air passengers; 4.
Reduction in aircraft operating costs; 5. Reduction of highway delay for both
intercity and urban auto trips; and 6. Reduction of accident and air pollution costs
from intercity and urban auto trips. This analysis is done assuming the benefits
accrued in the year 2050. The costs are evaluated from the year 2011 the proposed
time of starting the project, while the benefits are calculated from the year 2020 the
expected time of launching the project. The estimated streams of benefits and costs
occurring each year between 2011 and 2050 were discounted to their present value
and summarized to calculate the benefit cost ratio. The discount rate is a means of
calculating a value now of benefits that occur in the future. The discount rate
recognizes the time value of money. A four percent real discount rate is used in the
calculations. However, the high speed train project would be economically feasible
even under the higher discount rates used by some public agencies and economists.
The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is an evaluation measure that is
Surrealism And Andre Breton, The Founder Of Surrealism
A cultural movement that emerged in the early 1920 s, Surrealism started as a literal
movement but evolved into something much more. Best known for it s dreamlike
scenes of irrational and often surprising substance, the movement spoke to the
unconscious mind of humankind with the semiotic balance between reality and
fiction. Artists of this era turned and merged everyday objects into contradictory and
irrational works of art, giving rise to new forms of thought and creation (Mikos,
2013). Andre Breton, the founder of surrealism was inspired by Sigmund Freuds view
of the unconscious mindand how this information could shape society. Salvador Dali,
a surrealist artist, challenged the conventional mind, and set an example to as the
ever changing reality; as seen through his abstract perception of nature and time. Post
WW1, where society was evidently changing; Breton became the founder of the
surrealist movement, while Dali was a pioneer in the abstract styles of surrealism.
Culturally, this movement directly impacted individuals identity, ritualistic beliefs,
status and the way in which art was performed and presented. Many still question
why this is relevant today, as this form and movement was a pinnacle turning point
for art as we know it today; creating and changing the norm to something farfetched
but still seemingly realistic and possible.
The semiotic value during this time frame had a significant impact on the way
society as a whole viewed the world at large. It
Rebel Without A Cause Film Analysis
Sexuality, is one source of identification that we as humans all have and is
significant to who we are as people. There are plenty of sexualities ranging from
homosexuality, heterosexuality, bisexuality, etc. Homosexuality, is a sexual identity
that has been discussed about and been looked down upon for plenty of years in
religions and societies for centuries. Homosexualityhas always been represented in
films but it is more directly represented in films now than in older films in the early
and mid twentieth century. The way that homosexuality is represented in Rebel
Without a Cause (1955) is totally different but almost similar to the way that
homosexuality is represented in Naz Maalik (2015). Rebel Without A Cause
(1955), was directed by Nicholas Ray, the film is about a troubled teenager named
Jim who constantly gets in trouble at school. After his parents move him to a new
town, he ends up in trouble with the teenagers that he goes to school with. Jim isn t
liked much by a large amount of teenagers at his new school, he gets in knife fights
and trys to prove his bravery by participating in a game called chickie , which leads
to the death of one of the teenagers during the film. Homosexuality is represented in
Rebel Without a Cause (1955), in multiple interesting ways. Plato, which is one of
the teenagers that Jim meets at school, is obsessed with Jim and is highly interested
in him. From the very first time that Plato sees Jim, you can tell that he has some sort

A Summary Of Bleaching
When it comes to pitching a baseball, there is more to it than what meets the eye.
There are different rules and procedures for left handed than there is for right handed
pitchers. The many steps involved in pitching come together into a fluid motion.
There are two types of pitching motions: The windup and the set. I will explain the
steps of a right hander pitching in the windup, which will be the same steps that the
Major League Baseballplayers use. The first step: Both of the heels start off on the
pitching rubber, while the toes are pointed toward home plate. The pitcherholds the
baseball in his glove throughout this whole process, until the last step. During this,
the pitcher s attention is focused towards the catchers hand. The catcher
Reflection On Science Lesson
On November 1, 2017, I taught my second science lesson at Maverick Elementary
School. It took place during my Kindergarten class usually scheduled science lesson.
This week my class was going over the 5 senses, so my lesson fit perfectly into their
curriculum. My lesson was about using the 5 senses to predict what an unknown
objectwas in a closed bag. I chose to do this lesson because my students were
learning how to use senses as a tool of observation to identify properties and patterns
of organisms, objects, and events in environment (TEK K.4B). My objective was for
the students to use their senses to identify an object and describe the different
properties of objects accurately.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Lesson I think one of the strengths of my lesson was
the actual lesson itself. My students really loved the hands on activity because they
were engaged and eager to discover what was in the bag. They were talking to their
classmates at a good volume, and there were no students getting out of their seats or
being disruptive. I was actually quite surprised by this outcome because I usually
have to correct student behavior. However, this lesson caught all of the students
attention and made them want to be good to participate. I believe that this lesson
really highlighted what science and learning is all about, which is discovering new
things and continuously wanting to know more. This lesson was a great lesson
because it made the students interested in science and their own education. I think one
of the weaknesses of my lesson was my delivery of the instructions. In the
beginning, as I was trying to explain how to conduct the activity, I was stumbling
over my words a lot. I think this is so because I was trying to find the right words
to say for Kindergarteners. For example, when I was telling my students that they
had to circle the descriptive words on the worksheet, they looked at me with blank
faces and did not know what I was saying. I think it is because I was using too big
of words, so it was pretty hard for me to try to use smaller words. In the end,
however, my students found out how to do the worksheet, when I showed them over
the Elmo. Overall, I think my lesson went pretty well,
Somali Pirates Research Paper
There are many pirates in the Somalian waters. Somalia is a place in East Africa.
The Somali pirates are a criminal enterprise that is getting in millions of dollars in
ransom payments. They have been hijacking ships since the year 2005. Port officials
in Somalia are accepting bribes from the pirates to enter the Somali waters (Scott
Baldauf 1). These Somali Pirates resorted to piracybecause of an economic
devastation that happened in Somalia in the 90s. The pirates are Somalians who are
raiding ships that come nearby Somalia. They carefully select a shipto raid. They will
want to raid cargo ships. After they find a ship to raid, they then use force to get
into the ship. The pirates carry various guns to help to get on board the ship. After
they manage to get on the ship, they start to take all the valuables on the ship
(Hamza Mohamed 1). They then take the workers of the ship as hostage to gain more
money for their safe return. In the movie, Captain Phillips, the pirates that are in the

With the absence of Mohamed Siad Barre, the country had no proper government to
run it. Faction groups started forming in Somalia to take control. In 1992, there was
killing and starvation in the south of Somalia (Global Security 1). The U.N. sends
peacekeeping operations into Somalia. In addition, the United States started sending
troops into Somalia. In 1994, there was too much casualties in Somalia, so the U.S.
soldiers withdrew from Somalia with the problems still unsolved (Phil Stewart 1).
Fishermen started taking advantage of the bad condition Somalia is in and started
raiding different fishing ports. The Somalians started to fight back. The Somalians
began to raid and became pirates. Some observers say that the Somalians pirates are

Good Luck Research Paper
Good luck, a common phrase used when someone has a sports game or performance.
I joined color guard my freshman year of high school. I have had over 30
performances. Out of those performances, I messed up a few times because I
dropped my equipment. It takes a lot of practice to be able to spin together with a big
group of people. It also takes a lot of practice to get a toss the same height as
everyone and catch it solid. I get nervous for performances, so it causes me to be
tense and mess up.
Mistakes happen even with a lot of practice. I can spend hours, days, weeks, maybe
even months, preparing for the big day. Not every performance is perfect, even if it
feels like it was. There is going to be something that did not go the way it was
supposed to or the way you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dropping a flag or rifle during a performance, or simply just messing up a little part
of a routine never feels good. I felt like a failure. I was disappointed in myself. It
does not feel good that I did not catch a toss or that I messed up, but I know that it
is not the end of the world. Whenever I do not catch a toss or I make a mistake, it
motivates me to commit to practicing even more. Being consistent with my tosses
is key. I will be less likely to drop the equipment I am using. Whenever I have the
time to, I spend time tossing over and over. I work on the one toss or the one part
that needs the most work. Practicing the whole routine is not necessary. It is like
when I am learning a new piece on violin. There are some parts where I am fine
with and there are the spots that give me trouble. I would not spend my time
working on the parts I can do, but on the spots that I am having a hard time with. It
does not mean I do not have to practice those parts at all, but just
Who Is John Stuart Mill Utilitarianism
1.Mill describes the basic moral standard of utilitarianism as actions are right in
proportion as they tend to promote happiness; wrong as they tend to produce the
reverse of happiness. It means that actions are right if they provide happiness and
benefits society and vice versa. 2.He says that it is not he but the critics who imply
that the only type of pleasure of which humans are capable is physical pleasure. He
holds that we can experience pleasures or satisfactions related to our specifically
human capacities as well as physical pleasures. 3.The basis is the preference of
people who have experienced the pleasures. These people would give a decided
preference to intellectual pleasures over sensual pleasures. He admits that sometimes
The Heroism Of The Valor Games Midwest
The Contest that was years in the making.
Unimaginable pain ran thru my hand, a few seconds later I passed out. I had been
shot thru my left wrist while on patrol around Kandahar Afghanistan in August
2011. This event would wind up taking many things from me. The hardest trial I
would endure was to regain my range of motion and ability to lift weights. Weight

I was running late, I had to rush from the parking lot to the check in station in the
lobby of the Chicago Hilton. Once signed in and loaded on the bus, I finally had
time to take in my environment. I was surrounded by wounded warriors from all
different wars and I was here to compete against them. It was surreal to say the
least. I was completely over whelmed with emotion and fear all at the same time. I
had a little boo boo on the wrist and some of these heroes were missing limbs, or
scared, would they accept me as one of their own or would I be an outcast. Only time
would tell.
The contest would last 3 days. 3 days, 3 different events, 3 locations around Chicago. I
had been training for months to compete. I would participate in the Shot Put, Archery
and Powerlifting (Bench Press). 1st day I competed in the Shot Put. There was a lot
of confusion on where everyone would go to and participate in their event as it
was the first day and a lot of us newbies. I finally found where I was supposed to be
for Shot Put. I was nervous, a lot of people were there all decked out in their gear

old tennis shoes. The competition began, grass wet from the morning dew and rain
from the previous night, and I was first. This is not what I wanted. Leading the pack

comparable to nuns as they were not allowed to marry and stayed in nurses homes

Unfortunately in the early stages of education for nurses the ones in school were
treated poorly by hospitals, they were not paid and assigned to cleaning of all sorts.
This did change overtime and the women were recognized for their education level in

Economics Assignment Opportunity Cost Lets start with a small introduction to the
topic Opportunity Cost. Opportunity cost is the cost of any activity measured in
terms of the value of the next best alternative forgone (that is not chosen). It is the
sacrifice related to the second best choice available to someone, or group, who has
picked among several mutually exclusive choices. The opportunity cost is also the
cost (as a lost benefit) of the forgone products after making a choice. Opportunity

Explicit costs are opportunity costs that involve direct monetary payment by
producers. The opportunity cost of the factors of production not already owned by a
producer is the price that the producer has to pay for them. For instance, a firm
spends $100 on electrical power consumed, their opportunity cost is $100. The firm
has sacrificed $100, which could have been spent on other factors of production.
Now lets look at some real life examples from my life inorder to understand
Opportunity Costs better.
Opportunity Cost Examples that I myself have been across I have only Rs 1000 to
spend and I have two choices, I can eat at a nice restaurant or buy a good cricket bat
instead. I spend my Rs 1000 on buying the cricket bat, then the opportunity cost of
that choice is the delicious meal I did not choose and let go.
Opportunity Cost also works in regards to time. Eg I only have two hours of free
time. I could either go to a movie or meet a friend of mine. I choose to spend my
time at the movie, the opportunity cost of this decision is the time I could have spent
enjoying the company of my friend.
Here s another example When for the first time I decided to invest my saved money
lying with me.I had two options that I could do with the money I had. My first
choice was either investing in Mutual Funds or leave the money in a Savings
Account that earns only 5% per year. I invested

Enzymes act as catalysts for many different reactions throughout the body, this is
because the heat or energy needed to perform the reaction is too high for the body to
sustain so a catalyst is used to lower this energy which is called the activation energy.
Amylase is a starch degrading enzyme. Starch is a mixture of two types of glucose
polymers. We can only absorb small molecules so the action of amylases during
digestion is essential for survival. All organisms make amylase, which breaks the
glucose chain in the centre *1 .
We can also use this source to give a thorough explanation of the structure of Amylase

1o The enzyme is a glycoprotein. Its single polypeptide chain of about 496 amino acid
residues has two SH (Sulfhydryl) groups and four disulphide bonds and contains a
tight bound Ca2+..
2В° Amylase, like many proteins and enzymes, mostly contains wide arrangements of
a helices and b sheets. The
secondary structures are held tightly together by hydrogen bonds. Hydrogen bonds
between amino acid residues are especially
stable in the hydrophobic interior of the protein, where water molecules do not enter
and therefore cannot compete for hydrogen bonding.
3В° Amylase s tertiary structure consists of one domain of connected a helices and
b sheets. The sheets and helices are connected by an array of loops and turns of
hydrophilic amino acid residues, mostly valine, proline, and glycine

In an organization, motivation involves ensuring the employees perform highly to
achieve the organization s desired goals. Several motivational theories have been
advanced as to explain workers attitudes towards motivation. One such theory is
Herzberg s motivation hygiene theory (Bauer Erdogan, 2015). He posits that there
are certain factors in the workplace that cause job satisfaction. These include the
advancement of an employee s career. He believed that workers were no longer just

The Qr Transformation Protects The Upper Hessenberg
Type...
The QR transformation protects the upper Hessenberg type of the first matrix, and
the workload on such a matrix is O(n2) per cycle as restricted to O(‪n3) on a
general framework. As s tends to infinity, the original matrix merges to a structure
where the eigenvalues are either segregated on the corner to corner or are
eigenvalues of a 2 Г— 2 sub matrix on the diagonal. Thus, we can see that the QR
transformation reduces the complexity and the number of iterations. QR is one of the
mostly used algorithms for finding the eigenvalues of a matrix, where Q represents an
orthogonal matrixand R an upper triangular one, R comes from right.

Now we consider a non singular matrix with real entries, either symmetrical or not. In
essence, the QR algorithm is based on the following property:
If A is factorized in the product A=QR, where Q is non singular, then the matrix of
the product in reverse order, A =RQ, has the same eigenvalues as A has (having
similarity with A).

The QR transformation was introduced in the late 1950s by John G.F. Francis

The Process Of A Business Intelligence System
This project is written to explain the processes involved in implementing a business
intelligence system. It continues to describe the technologies involved in a business
intelligence system, as well as the purpose of the system and how it can help
companies become a leader in the industry. Lastly, the report contains facts about
industries that have implemented a business intelligencesolution, how they use it, and
the benefits they reap from the implementation. The report covers multiple industries,
but focuses on Chevron oil company and analyzes its business intelligence solution.

A productive business intelligence system is one that is able to gather, provide
access to, and analyze data for the purpose of allowing businesses make better
decisions ( What is business intelligence , n.d.). This means that analysts are able
to gather the information, store it in such a way that it is easily accessible, and
analyze the data so that companies are able to make quicker and more intelligent
decisions. Some of the main purposes of business intelligence are to use in
comparison to competitors, reveal changes in customer behavior and spending
patterns, and determine the market conditions and future trends in the industry (
What is business intelligence , n.d.). Business intelligence allows businesses to see
how their sales, products, and services compare to that of their competitors. In
doing so, the company is able to determine what needs to be changed, as well as
how to improve upon existing competencies. Another benefit to implementing a
business intelligence system is that companies are able to see the trends in
customer spending patterns. Over time, a company might see sales dwindling in a
certain product because it has been overshadowed by a new release. For example,
with the release of the PlayStation 4, retailers have noticed a decline in sales of the
PlayStation 3. This means that retailers must carry lower stock, or none at all, of the

uncles, from cousins, and strangers alike. And then I would return to the United
States, and see women as professors, as writers, as engineers. They would speak
their mind and dress as they pleased and drive at night by themselves and live

And then I d go back to India, where women are expected to bear children to be

costing U.S. business million of dollars each year in lost productivity.[2] Social
networking sites are a dangerously sharp double edged sword. Professional sites
such as LinkedIn can showcase one s talents and provide an advantage within a large
applicant pool while personal sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, myspace, even
YouTube, if used irresponsibly, can make public many aspects of an individual s
private life which can reflect negatively, when viewed by others. The article Didn t

be made or broken by something we consider trivial. For all those concerned with

Examples Of Penelope In The Odyssey
Penelope may not have as exciting of a life as some of the other characters in
Homer s The Odyssey, but she makes up for it by being very clever, which makes
her a good match for her husband, Odysseus. Penelope plays a very important role in
Odysseus s journey home, in fact, she is the main reason for his return to Ithaca.
When the suitors begin invading her house and asking, then demanding, her hand in
marriage, Penelope knows she must handle them herself. Being a woman in ancient
Greece, she does not have the ability to force the suitors to leave her house, and
neither does Telemachus. This means that Penelope must continue to allow them to
abuse the hospitality that was expected at that time, and all she can do is try to
outsmart the suitors until her husband comes home. In Homer s The Odyssey,
Penelope is a good match for Odysseusbecause she is clever, and she shows that

Penelope spends all day weaving, but at night she undoes all of her work from the

Because the suitors see her working all day, they assume she is making progress.
This buys Penelope nearly four years to wait for Odysseus, until a maid reveals her
The Influence Of Climate Change In Australia
Australia experiences wide range of weather throughout the year. The heaviest
rainfall events have become heavier and more frequent, and the amount of rain
falling on the heaviest rain days has also increased. Over the past decade we have
seen a substantial increase in our scientific understanding of how climate change
affects extreme rainfall events. Not only do climatemodels suggest that heavy rainfall
events will intensify as the atmosphere warms but these projections have started to
become reality with observed increases in rainfall intensity.
The mechanism driving these changes is well understood. Warmer air can contain
more water vapor than cooler air. Global analyses show that the amount of water
vapor in the atmosphere has in fact increased due to human caused warming. This

across the Netherlands, collected from 1995 to mid 2014. They used a regional
climate model to provide additional atmospheric conditions and tendencies over the

precipitation events in the Netherlands, and for each event, the team determined the
peak precipitation intensity. Then, they investigated if certain atmospheric conditions
moisture content, atmospheric stability, and large scale upward winds correlated
with the stronger precipitation events. The results suggested that no single factor
correlated perfectly with heavy rainfall. Warmer temperatures and increased moisture
in the atmosphere seemed to correlate more with heavier precipitation events than
with weaker ones. Although the strongest precipitation events also took place when
the atmosphere was less stable than it typically is during weaker events, an unstable
atmosphere itself does not always foreshadow heavy

The Characteristics Of Dionysus
If you ever have a celebration, make sure to invite the life of the party and wine
supplier, Dionysus. Dionysus is one of the Twelve Olympians. He took over
Hestia s position on Mount Olympus when she left, making him the last Greek
mythology figure to arrive on Mount Olympus ( Dionysus Facts and Information ).
However, he does not reside there often as he holds a domain over the earth and
wanders around teaching winemaking skills to men. In his wanderings, Dionysus
can be caught carrying his thyrsus, a staff wrapped with ivy with a pine cone tip,
and his most recognizable symbol. Dionysus is not only the wildest of all the gods;

Since Dionysus was born to a god the second time, he became an immortal god
himself. Being born mortal then born again as a god makes him unique. Dionysus
has a very diverse personality, and his story is an emotional rollercoaster. He has a
dual nature, or two main personas: of rage and of joy ( Dionysus). Dionysus is
very quick to get revenge as seen in almost all myths involving him. One myth
involves the king of Thebes ( Dionysus Bacchus, the Wanderer ). King Pentheus did
not believe Dionysus to be a god and would not allow any female Thebes citizen to
attend his parties. This angered Dionysus greatly, so he made the king appear as a
wild animal to all the Theban women. They ripped him to pieces and thus Dionysus
obtained adequate revenge against King Pentheus. But Dionysus s vengeful nature
did not exclude him from having any other emotions; he experiences great grief in
another myth. This myth includes the hero Ikarios, whom Dionysus taught
winemaking to ( Dionysus Greek God of Wine and Festivity ). Ikarios gave the
wine to some shepherds who, with no knowledge of the effects of wine, thought he
had poisoned them and murdered Ikarios. Upon hearing of the death of his hero,
Dionysus became mournful and placed Ikarios in the sky as the constellation Bootes.
Feeling so many different emotions and having such various personas makes for

Turning Points In European History
Age of exploration is a phrase that is commonly associated with one of the most
significant turning points in European history. The cultivation of cash crops as well
as the trade of gold found in the Americas brought wealth and power to Europe that
hadn t been experienced in the past. Countries such as Portugal and Spain
transformed from small nations to major world powers during this period of time.
With that being said, the discovery of the New World played an integral role in
solidifying the wealth and status of Christian European nations and raising the quality

The catalyst to this desire to explore and expand in Europe was most likely the

Memory Consolidation Essay
In recent years, much debate and research has occurred over the process of memory
reconsolidation. Understanding the processes that underlie memory formation
retrieval and storage is key to understanding and guiding treatment for patients with
conditions such as posttraumatic stress disorder. This essay discusses the processes
of consolidation and how that impacts on reconsolidation and the implications of this
knowledge on patients suffering posttraumatic stress disorder.
Much psychological research suggests that new memories require time to stabilize
and transfer to long term memory and that these newly acquired memories are
disposed to to interference by competing stimuli. Memory consolidation is the
processes involved in the stabilization of a long term memory after it s initial
acquisition (Dudai, 2004). Consolidation is described by two distinct theories:
synaptic consolidation, which transpires in the first few hours after learning and
systems learning where memories are stabilized over a period of weeks to years
(Dudai, 2004).
Synaptic consolidation suggests that memory can exists in two ways, short term and
long term. Short term memories must either transfer to long term memory or be lost
(Bramham Messaoudi, 2005). Synaptic consolidation occurs quickly, in the first few
hours following the encoding of a new stimulus (Bramham Messaoudi, 2005).
Reverberating neural activity in closed circuits allows memories of new experiences

Brian s Three Survival Strategies
Have you ever crashed in the wilderness and had to survive all alone? Well a boy
named Brian did. That 13 year old boy survived because of these three survival
strategies. The three strategies are being observant, planning ahead, and using his

The first strategy Brian used was being observant. One way Brian was observant
was when he noticed something bad was going to happen, and it did. Brian was in
the water looking for fish for food then all of the sudden he feels something weird
is about to happen. Brian stands there for a few seconds, and out of the sudden this

Brian used planning ahead as a survival strategy when he knew he would need food
to survive, so the night before he planned ahead to do so. The next day Brian got
up and saw birds so he went to see if they would lead him to food and they did.
Another way Brian planned ahead was when he needed fire wood. Brian woke up
one day and the fire was very low, and he knew he would need more fire would to
keep the fire going. He went out and got enough wood not only to keep up the fire
but to have wood for the next day. And from that day on he got extra wood every
morning. Brian also planned ahead when he thought about the survival pack. Brian
remembered he saw the survival pack in the plane. He knew it would help him a lot
so he went to the plane a few days after he thought about it. Those are all ways Brian
used planning ahead or being proactive as a survival strategy. The last strategy that

An Age Of Religious Complexity
Every age has its own characteristics. Right now we are in an age of religious
complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead
are programs, methods, organizations, and a world of nervous activities which
occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart. The
shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship, and that servile
imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we, in
this da, know God only imperfectly, and the peace of God scarcely at all.
Simplicity. What makes it so difficult to achieve? Today s society can see the need
for focused clarity. Because of the world s hyper complexity, simplicity has become a
coveted ideal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second is like is: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets
depend on these two commandments. Jesus summed up 613 commands into two. He
took the complexity of the Law and stripped it down to the very core. He made
obeying the Law of the Lord easier to understand through the accessibility of
simplicity. Churches today must follow Jesus example and seek simplicity.
The individuals that make up a church are builders. These builders have the ability,
through Christ, to define, illustrate, measure, and discuss a ministry blueprint that
will help bring clarity to their church s ministry process. This process will not only
help define what the goals of their church are, but also how to reach those goals. In
addition to bringing clarity to the vision of the church, having this ministry blueprint
in place will help the leaders in their church communicate and be understood even
more effectively. Once clarity has been made through a ministry blueprint, action
must follow. The movement needed is defined by Thom S. Rainer and Eric Geiger
as the sequential steps in the process that cause people to move to greater areas of
commitment. Jesus gave a profound example of what that movement should look
like in the book of Luke. In the the first 5 6 chapters, the Lord called his disciples to
Himself and provided them with opportunities to experience Him. Next, Jesus
provided opportunities designed to test their faith. He allowed them to
Technological Advancements Of Ancient Rome
Taylor Mabry

Technological Innovations of Ancient Rome The Romans were extraordinary
builders and professional civil engineers, and their flourishing civilization formed
developments in technology, culture and architecture that endured for centuries.
Ancient Rome had several qualities that made their civilization successful but most
importantly through the advancements of technology and innovations that flourished
throughout the ages that are still used in today s society. The legacy lives through the
inventions of the aqueducts, concrete, newspapers, battlefield surgery, bound books,
roads and highways, roman arches, and the twelve tables. All of these inventions and
innovations served as their own individual purpose that made the civilization
boundless which is why I interested in this research topic. Without aqueducts we
would not have inventions such as sewage systems, fountains, and toilets, which
would be extremely hard to live without. These engineering wonders transported
pipelines and into city centers through gravity. These pipelines would also often be
lead, stone, or concrete, which was also an invention the ancient romans take credit
for. Aqueducts enlightened Roman cities from a dependence on nearby water
materials and engaged more in sanitation and health publicity. The transportation of
water flourished as far as fifty miles which was very convenient and constantly began
to become more popular throughout the

When I was younger and thinking about college I always pictured it as I saw it in
the movies, you sleep all day and have fun all night. Know what I know now I
understand the importance of college and I think of it a little differently than
before. I know that I need to work hard and study hard to be able to succeed at my
fullest potential in college. I have had a few experiences in my life that have
helped me realize that I need to work hard to get the output which I was hoping for
in the beginning. I ve seen my sister diagnosed with diabetes her first week of high
school, I ve witnessed my dad struggling through cancer and conquering it, and I
have made it through 6 month of grueling and time consuming physical therapy to
make it so I could use my shoulder again. Through these experiences my
perspective about hard work and perseverance has changed dramatically, and for
that I am thankful. My dad was diagnosed with cancer about 5 years ago. I was in
middle school so I knew enough to understand that it was a very serious and scary
thing which not all people can defeat. I had a very frightening realization that he
could die and I might only have a limited time left with him. When he started to
receive the chemotherapy treatments I knew that I had to step up and help out. This
taught me that I had to get things done and I couldn t procrastinate. He ended up
defeating the cancer and coming home soon after, I ll always remember how this
experience taught me to stay strong and
Scarlet Letter Ending Essay
Scarlet Letter Ending
Suddenly, a shiver ran down the spines of the duo of sinners and out of the brush
burst a bone chilling sight. Standing there upon the edge of the forest was their
common enemy, he stood in a dusky shadow that began to overwhelm Pearl s beam
of light. What a beautifully incidental family reunion, but how tragic would it be if
the pure child was to suddenly vanish from this immoral thicket?
Chillingworth! cried Hester, Thou hast no place here, may our lord God banish you
back to where you came from just as he banished my sin! .
Dear woman, if your sin had truly been banished, than there would be no letter nor
offspring to prove your deed. Are you sure that is what you want? he asked with a sly
grim.
Out of the darkness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester! I ve heard so much about thee! No wonder you re disoriented, I m sure you
are still very fatigued from your trip across the roaring Atlantic! When is thy
companion expected to arrive here?
Hester s heart fell as the realization of her situation washed down upon her. I don t
rightly know sir. After traveling a short ways they finally reached the woman s
small cottage which was nearly as beautiful as her. Delicately growing ivy climbed
it s way up the walls and wild flowers grew at the base of the cottage. The only thing
that could draw away from the magnificent scene was the dark, grisly weeds
surrounding the wild flowers.
Hester turned just as they reached her threshold and she hugged Dimmesdale with a
crushing grip. Thank you. For everything. Without waiting for him to say anything
she hurried into her house where she found a single black rose sitting on the table.
She screamed but no sound escaped her throat as she spun on her heel attempting to
flee the cottage. Just as she reached the door and touched the knob in order to turn it,
she awoke startled and in

English Essay Structure.pdf

  • 1. English Essay Structure Crafting an essay on the topic of "English Essay Structure" may seem deceptively straightforward at first glance. After all, it's a subject that revolves around the very essence of essay writing itself. However, delving into the intricacies of this topic reveals a complexity that can be both challenging and intellectually stimulating. To begin with, one must navigate the vast landscape of essay structures, ranging from the classical five-paragraph essay to more sophisticated and nuanced approaches. Understanding the purpose of each section – introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion – is essential, but the real challenge lies in mastering the art of seamless transitions between these components. Achieving a flow that captivates the reader while maintaining coherence demands careful consideration and practice. The challenge extends beyond mere structural elements. A successful essay on English Essay Structure necessitates a profound comprehension of language nuances, rhetorical devices, and the subtle interplay between words and ideas. It demands a balance between conciseness and depth, clarity and complexity. Moreover, adapting the essay to the specific requirements of the audience and purpose adds another layer of complexity. Is the essay meant for academic scrutiny, casual readership, or a specialized audience? Each demands a unique approach, forcing the writer to carefully tailor their language, tone, and examples to suit the intended audience. Furthermore, keeping abreast of evolving writing conventions and styles, particularly in the dynamic landscape of modern communication, is an ongoing challenge. The traditional structures may be subject to evolution, and contemporary expectations for engaging and impactful writing may require constant reevaluation. • 2. Game Of Thrones Controversy The widely popular TV series, Game of Thrones, has produced a slew of new movie stars. After all, Game of Thrones is arguably the most popular television show on the planet (Walking Dead fans might disagree) so it only makes sense that whenever one of its stars is cast in movie, whether it s Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, or Peter Dinklage (just to name a few), an up tick in interest is expected. Up and coming actress Natalie Dormer fits the same mold currently playing Queen Margaery on Game of Thrones. The project finalized in mid 2000, is estimated to be one of the most expensive of its kind. It is in the lines of the high speed rail systems existing in France, Japan and China. Intercity passenger revenue; 2. Benefits to both intercity and urban high speed train passengers (net of fares paid); 3. Reduction of airside delay for air passengers; 4. Reduction in aircraft operating costs; 5. Reduction of highway delay for both intercity and urban auto trips; and 6. Reduction of accident and air pollution costs from intercity and urban auto trips. This analysis is done assuming the benefits accrued in the year 2050. The costs are evaluated from the year 2011 the proposed time of starting the project, while the benefits are calculated from the year 2020 the expected time of launching the project. The estimated streams of benefits and costs occurring each year between 2011 and 2050 were discounted to their present value and summarized to calculate the benefit cost ratio. The discount rate is a means of calculating a value now of benefits that occur in the future. The discount rate recognizes the time value of money. A four percent real discount rate is used in the calculations. However, the high speed train project would be economically feasible even under the higher discount rates used by some public agencies and economists. Best known for it s dreamlike scenes of irrational and often surprising substance, the movement spoke to the unconscious mind of humankind with the semiotic balance between reality and fiction. Artists of this era turned and merged everyday objects into contradictory and irrational works of art, giving rise to new forms of thought and creation (Mikos, 2013). Andre Breton, the founder of surrealism was inspired by Sigmund Freuds view of the unconscious mindand how this information could shape society. Salvador Dali, a surrealist artist, challenged the conventional mind, and set an example to as the ever changing reality; as seen through his abstract perception of nature and time. Post WW1, where society was evidently changing; Breton became the founder of the surrealist movement, while Dali was a pioneer in the abstract styles of surrealism. Culturally, this movement directly impacted individuals identity, ritualistic beliefs, status and the way in which art was performed and presented. Many still question why this is relevant today, as this form and movement was a pinnacle turning point for art as we know it today; creating and changing the norm to something farfetched but still seemingly realistic and possible. The semiotic value during this time frame had a significant impact on the way society as a whole viewed the world at large. It

  • 7. Reflection On Science Lesson On November 1, 2017, I taught my second science lesson at Maverick Elementary School. It took place during my Kindergarten class usually scheduled science lesson. This week my class was going over the 5 senses, so my lesson fit perfectly into their curriculum. My lesson was about using the 5 senses to predict what an unknown objectwas in a closed bag. I chose to do this lesson because my students were learning how to use senses as a tool of observation to identify properties and patterns of organisms, objects, and events in environment (TEK K.4B). My objective was for the students to use their senses to identify an object and describe the different properties of objects accurately. Strengths and Weaknesses of Lesson I think one of the strengths of my lesson was the actual lesson itself. My students really loved the hands on activity because they were engaged and eager to discover what was in the bag. They were talking to their classmates at a good volume, and there were no students getting out of their seats or being disruptive. I was actually quite surprised by this outcome because I usually have to correct student behavior. However, this lesson caught all of the students attention and made them want to be good to participate. I believe that this lesson really highlighted what science and learning is all about, which is discovering new things and continuously wanting to know more. This lesson was a great lesson because it made the students interested in science and their own education. I think one of the weaknesses of my lesson was my delivery of the instructions. In the beginning, as I was trying to explain how to conduct the activity, I was stumbling over my words a lot. I think this is so because I was trying to find the right words to say for Kindergarteners. For example, when I was telling my students that they had to circle the descriptive words on the worksheet, they looked at me with blank faces and did not know what I was saying. I think it is because I was using too big of words, so it was pretty hard for me to try to use smaller words. In the end, however, my students found out how to do the worksheet, when I showed them over the Elmo. Overall, I think my lesson went pretty well,

  • 23. The Qr Transformation Protects The Upper Hessenberg Type... The QR transformation protects the upper Hessenberg type of the first matrix, and the workload on such a matrix is O(n2) per cycle as restricted to O(‪n3) on a general framework. As s tends to infinity, the original matrix merges to a structure where the eigenvalues are either segregated on the corner to corner or are eigenvalues of a 2 Г— 2 sub matrix on the diagonal. Thus, we can see that the QR transformation reduces the complexity and the number of iterations. QR is one of the mostly used algorithms for finding the eigenvalues of a matrix, where Q represents an orthogonal matrixand R an upper triangular one, R comes from right. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬в Now we consider a non singular matrix with real entries, either symmetrical or not. Then, they investigated if certain atmospheric conditions moisture content, atmospheric stability, and large scale upward winds correlated with the stronger precipitation events. The results suggested that no single factor correlated perfectly with heavy rainfall. Dionysus has a very diverse personality, and his story is an emotional rollercoaster. He has a dual nature, or two main personas: of rage and of joy ( Dionysus). Dionysus is very quick to get revenge as seen in almost all myths involving him. One myth involves the king of Thebes ( Dionysus Bacchus, the Wanderer ). King Pentheus did not believe Dionysus to be a god and would not allow any female Thebes citizen to attend his parties. This angered Dionysus greatly, so he made the king appear as a wild animal to all the Theban women. They ripped him to pieces and thus Dionysus obtained adequate revenge against King Pentheus. But Dionysus s vengeful nature did not exclude him from having any other emotions; he experiences great grief in another myth. This myth includes the hero Ikarios, whom Dionysus taught winemaking to ( Dionysus Greek God of Wine and Festivity ). Ikarios gave the wine to some shepherds who, with no knowledge of the effects of wine, thought he had poisoned them and murdered Ikarios. Understanding the processes that underlie memory formation retrieval and storage is key to understanding and guiding treatment for patients with conditions such as posttraumatic stress disorder. This essay discusses the processes of consolidation and how that impacts on reconsolidation and the implications of this knowledge on patients suffering posttraumatic stress disorder. Much psychological research suggests that new memories require time to stabilize and transfer to long term memory and that these newly acquired memories are disposed to to interference by competing stimuli. Memory consolidation is the processes involved in the stabilization of a long term memory after it s initial acquisition (Dudai, 2004). Consolidation is described by two distinct theories: synaptic consolidation, which transpires in the first few hours after learning and systems learning where memories are stabilized over a period of weeks to years (Dudai, 2004). Synaptic consolidation suggests that memory can exists in two ways, short term and long term. Short term memories must either transfer to long term memory or be lost (Bramham Messaoudi, 2005). Synaptic consolidation occurs quickly, in the first few hours following the encoding of a new stimulus (Bramham Messaoudi, 2005). In addition to bringing clarity to the vision of the church, having this ministry blueprint in place will help the leaders in their church communicate and be understood even more effectively. Once clarity has been made through a ministry blueprint, action must follow. The movement needed is defined by Thom S. Rainer and Eric Geiger as the sequential steps in the process that cause people to move to greater areas of commitment. Jesus gave a profound example of what that movement should look like in the book of Luke. In the the first 5 6 chapters, the Lord called his disciples to Himself and provided them with opportunities to experience Him. Next, Jesus provided opportunities designed to test their faith. He allowed them to

Technological Advancements Of Ancient Rome Taylor Mabry HIS 101 W06 Professor Terry May 22, 2016 Technological Innovations of Ancient Rome The Romans were extraordinary builders and professional civil engineers, and their flourishing civilization formed developments in technology, culture and architecture that endured for centuries. Ancient Rome had several qualities that made their civilization successful but most importantly through the advancements of technology and innovations that flourished throughout the ages that are still used in today s society. The legacy lives through the inventions of the aqueducts, concrete, newspapers, battlefield surgery, bound books, roads and highways, roman arches, and the twelve tables. All of these inventions and innovations served as their own individual purpose that made the civilization boundless which is why I interested in this research topic. Without aqueducts we would not have inventions such as sewage systems, fountains, and toilets, which would be extremely hard to live without. These engineering wonders transported pipelines and into city centers through gravity. These pipelines would also often be lead, stone, or concrete, which was also an invention the ancient romans take credit for. Aqueducts enlightened Roman cities from a dependence on nearby water materials and engaged more in sanitation and health publicity. The transportation of water flourished as far as fifty miles which was very convenient and constantly began to become more popular throughout the
  • 44. Thank You Rotary for this Scholarship When I was younger and thinking about college I always pictured it as I saw it in the movies, you sleep all day and have fun all night. Know what I know now I understand the importance of college and I think of it a little differently than before. I know that I need to work hard and study hard to be able to succeed at my fullest potential in college. I have had a few experiences in my life that have helped me realize that I need to work hard to get the output which I was hoping for in the beginning. I ve seen my sister diagnosed with diabetes her first week of high school, I ve witnessed my dad struggling through cancer and conquering it, and I have made it through 6 month of grueling and time consuming physical therapy to make it so I could use my shoulder again. Through these experiences my perspective about hard work and perseverance has changed dramatically, and for that I am thankful. My dad was diagnosed with cancer about 5 years ago. I was in middle school so I knew enough to understand that it was a very serious and scary thing which not all people can defeat. I had a very frightening realization that he could die and I might only have a limited time left with him. When he started to receive the chemotherapy treatments I knew that I had to step up and help out. This taught me that I had to get things done and I couldn t procrastinate. He ended up defeating the cancer and coming home soon after, I ll always remember how this experience taught me to stay strong and

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hester! I ve heard so much about thee! No wonder you re disoriented, I m sure you are still very fatigued from your trip across the roaring Atlantic! When is thy companion expected to arrive here? Hester s heart fell as the realization of her situation washed down upon her. I don t rightly know sir. After traveling a short ways they finally reached the woman s small cottage which was nearly as beautiful as her. Delicately growing ivy climbed it s way up the walls and wild flowers grew at the base of the cottage. The only thing that could draw away from the magnificent scene was the dark, grisly weeds surrounding the wild flowers. Hester turned just as they reached her threshold and she hugged Dimmesdale with a crushing grip. Thank you. For everything. Without waiting for him to say anything she hurried into her house where she found a single black rose sitting on the table. She screamed but no sound escaped her throat as she spun on her heel attempting to flee the cottage. Just as she reached the door and touched the knob in order to turn it, she awoke startled and in
