1. Internet Addiction Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of internet addiction can be both challenging and intriguing. The
difficulty lies in navigating the complex web of information surrounding this modern
phenomenon. As technology continues to advance, the implications of excessive internet usage
become increasingly profound, making it a pertinent subject for exploration.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between presenting factual information and
expressing a thoughtful analysis. The topic of internet addiction encompasses a wide range of
aspects, including psychological, social, and cultural dimensions. Researching and synthesizing
relevant information from reputable sources is crucial to establishing a strong foundation for the
essay.
Moreover, addressing the potential counterarguments and diverse perspectives on internet
addiction adds another layer of complexity. While some argue that the internet has
revolutionized communication and accessibility to information, others emphasize the negative
impacts on mental health, interpersonal relationships, and overall well-being. Balancing these
opposing viewpoints requires careful consideration and nuanced articulation.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement that captures the essence of the essay is essential. It
should provide a clear roadmap for the reader, guiding them through the exploration of causes,
effects, and potential solutions related to internet addiction. Creating a well-structured outline
can help organize thoughts and ideas coherently, ensuring a logical flow throughout the essay.
Furthermore, addressing the evolving nature of technology and its impact on internet addiction
poses a unique challenge. The landscape is constantly changing, with new platforms and trends
emerging regularly. Staying updated on the latest research findings and incorporating current
examples is crucial for maintaining the relevance and timeliness of the essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on internet addiction requires a careful balance of research,
analysis, and critical thinking. Navigating the complexities of this multifaceted topic demands a
comprehensive understanding of the psychological, social, and cultural aspects involved.
However, with diligence and a thoughtful approach, one can craft an insightful essay that
contributes to the ongoing discourse on the impact of the internet on individuals and society.

2. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( Ocd ) And All The...
The story is an intriguing tale that I would argue explicates and profoundly depicts
the different dynamics associated with the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
and all the corresponding tendencies that exacerbate the anxiety. The main character,
Mr. Melvin Udall s behavior and actions speaks volume about the debilitating effects
of the disorder. He seems to constantly have unwanted and intrusive thoughts that can
t seems to get out of head, making him obsessed with it, Example the constant
irrational worry about dirt at home, in the restaurant, on the streets so as to not come
in contact with germ, virus or disease, and excessive concerns with order,
arrangement, or symmetry, as well as Feeling overly responsible for the safety of
others a distasteful religious and sexual thoughts or images. The anxietythat is
developed as a result of the above tendencies that compels him throughout to
repeatedly perform ritualistic behaviors and arrangements, such as cleaning,
repeatedly washing of his hands and one occasion bathing for hours, while Helen, the
waitress waited for him to go a date, clearing demonstrating the compulsion that is too
often difficult to control, even though it appears irrational. It must be said that this
compulsive aspect of the symptoms tend to help him mitigate or ease the anxiety that
persist. So in a narrow sense the compulsive behaviorserves as a positive remedy or
coping strategy, but generally it is irrational
3. Restriction Enzyme Mapping Of A Plasmid

Restriction Enzyme mapping of a plasmid
Aim
To isolate cloned recombinant plasmid pAB2 from a bacterium culture known as E.
coli, the plasmid contained a virus called baculovirus and an enzyme called
restriction endonuclease was used to cut the circular plasmid DNA. The enzyme was
used to determine which fragment was cloned from the baculovirus. The aim is to
remove the plasmid pAB2 from E. coli and correlate the enzyme restriction
endonuclease for cutting of the circular plasmid DNA, therefore this gives the ability
to determine which fragment has been cloned.
Introduction:
Recombinant plasmid pAB2 was isolated from a culture of E. coli, this contained an
insert of baculovirus. The restriction enzyme called restriction endonuclease was
used to cut the circular plasmid DNA, allowing us to identify which fragment has
successfully been cloned from the insert of baculovirus. The agarose gel
electrophoresis was performed using Gelled in order to utilize the DNA in gel, this
binds to the DNA and fluoresces under UV light.
The restriction enzymes are known to belong to a wide class of enzymes which are
classified as nucleases. There are exonnucleases and endonucleases, the
endonucleases are also known as restriction enzymes which cut the DNA molecules
at a certain point by recognition of 6 base pair sequence. DNA cloning depends on
the restriction enzyme digest to allow the DNA to
4. Ishmael And The Carpenter As A Life Buod
The imagery suggests that the mother, who is the carpenter, gives life to her child,
the coffin. Ahab referred to the carpenter as Prometheus, a titan, a silkworm
spinning its own shroud out of itself (Leiter 1958). This, I think is Melville s way of
connecting the coffin s obvious meaning of death to life. The carpenter as
Prometheus symbolizes God who gives birth or in other words life to death. The
coffin then acts as a life buoy for Ishmael specifically, when it carries him over to
safety at the end of the novel. Ishmael and the coffin, both tossed up by the Pequod
rigged out like a whale also like Job by the Whale of God, become Prophets who
deliver the message of God to the world (Leiter 1958). In a way then, the coffin
also symbolizes the universe, man, his life, and his death. It is a symbol of the fate
of man here on this earth. Ishmael is saved because he unlike Ahab, whose view of
the condition of man is so monolithic and pretty much insane has reached a state not
only of understanding man s role in the universe, but he has also achieved
acceptance of that role. Wedded to Ishmael earlier in the novel, Queequeg points the
way to sanity, neither through destructive internal questioning, nor through
acceptance of religious prophecies, but by what he is. After meeting his other half
in Peter Coffin s inn, which is decked out like a whale, Ishmael says, As I sat there
in that lonely room...I began to be sensible of strange feelings. I felt a melting in me.

5. Symbols In Ethan Frome
Ethan Frome is a novel published in 1911 written by Edith Wharton. In this novel a
man named Ethan Frome, married to Zenobia Frome, falls in love with another
woman named Mattie Silver. Mattie is the bright light in Ethan s dark life. Wharton
utilizes symbolism to create emotion and meaning throughout the story. She uses
objects, numbers, and the setting to shed light on the various elements of the story
that she deems important. The objects around the Frome s home are very symbolic.
The missing piece of Ethan and Zeena s house symbolizes the missing link in their
relationship. Ethan tells the narrator that he had to take out L of his house. The L
connects the house to the barn. The connection is nonexistent. Not only is the
physical connection of their house gone, but the romantic connection was also gone
between Ethan and Zeena (Asya, Ferda). The Frome s cat is symbolic as well. The
cat represents Zeena. When Ethan and Mattie are alone together, the cat continuously

Zeena respectively. The three multiples could represent the three times of the day:
morning, afternoon, and night (Ethan Frome). This could possibly mean that Ethan is
stuck in Starkfield forever and is left to think about his actions eternally. He is
constantly reminded about his failed attempt to be free with Mattie while also trying
to escape his horrible wife. In a way, Ethan killed both of the people that meant the

6. John Holland s Theory Of Types
John Holland s theory of types is one of the most researched and frequently used
theories of career development. Holland viewed career choice and career
adjustment as an expression of one s personality (Ohler Levinson, 2012). Holland
theorized that people express themselves through their interest and values, in their
career choices and work experiences (Sharf, 2013). Holland posited the people are
drawn to certain careers because of their personality preferences in addition to
other variable like age, gender, culture, social economic status, and level of
education, which are representative of the individual s background (Patrick,
Eliason, Thompson, 2005). John Holland argued that people s impressions and
generalizations about work are usually accurate, and by researching these
stereotypes he concluded that people personalities can be matched to certain work
environments (Sharf, 2013). Holland proposed that people s satisfaction, success,
and stability in the work environment is determined by the degree of congruence
between one s personality and one s chosen occupation (Miller Miller, 2005).
Holland proposed that people can be categorized according to six personality types:
Realistic (R), Investigative (I), Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E), and
Conventional (C) (Ohler Levinson, 2012). Realistic (R) Realistic personality types
like to work with animals, tools, or machines. Realistic individuals generally avoid
social activities, such as teaching,
7. Blade Runner And Post-Modernism
As Gojira (1954) directly involves with a real political subject of atomic bombs, and
conveys the political ideology by creating a fictional monster, Blade Runner (1982)
discusses an issue of post modernism and attacks post modernist ideology by setting
the location in a fictional and imaginative world (Dienstag 2015; Williams 1988). The
environment of Blade Runneris a dystopic world by where the audiences observe the
political implication of Blade Runner society and the exhaustion of modern
ideologies. In Blade Runner, the replicants are a form of living mirror of ourselves.
In the opening scene of Blade Runner, the audiences see a close up of an eye
reflecting the incredible landscape of the city. The eye motif recurs throughout the
film, and argues that the image of eye plays an important role in the story: the Voight
Kampf test eliciting an emotional response to identify whether an entity is a human
or a replicant; the replicants searching a way to the Tyrell Corporationand
interrogating an engineer of replicants, Tyrell; and the leader of replicants, playing
with artificial eyes when becoming a friend with the genetic designer and, takes out
the eyes of Tyrell when he was informed that his life cannot be extended (Dienstag
2015). By recurring the eye motifs, Blade Runner may encourage to view that the
replicant signifies a physical exchange of views between two live entities (Dienstag
2015; Williams 1988). This may suggest the audiences that replicants are no

9. Isolation In Stephanie Meyer s Twilight
Deeper Into the Twilight
Modern vampire interpretations are supposed to be relatable or desired, they are no
longer supposed to be feared. Stephanie Meyer s book series Twilight is one of the
most popular teenage vampire interpretations. The vampire characters within the
movie are metaphors for the teenager.
It is common for teenagers to feel isolated from their surroundings and the people
around them. The Cullen s in the movie are automatically isolated from the rest of
the town because they are the newest citizens and live outside of the town isolated
from everyone else. When Bella Swan invited Edward Cullen to come to the beach
with her group of friends he declined feeling like he would not be wanted there.
One of the characters, Angela, had this to say while they were at the beach, It was
nice that Bella invited Edward, nobody ever does. This is what Mike had to say in
response, That s because Cullen is a freak. The other male characters in the scene
chimed in with their agreement on his comment. Not only are the Cullen s isolated ...

The costumes of the vampires are all light and neutral colour clothing that stand out
from the humans who wear darker shades of clothing. This is an immediate
difference to the audience that these people are different therefore isolating them.
The framing of the scene where the Cullen teenagers are introduced, they are sitting
in the top left corner of the cafeteria/screen furthest away from everyone else in the
cafeteria. There is a strong connection to isolation right away within this scene for
the audience from the costumes to the framing of the shot. Just like the vampires,
what a teenager wears or where they sit in the cafeteria could isolate themselves from
the majority. These are common worries that teenagers have because they wanted to
be accepted and not be the one who is isolated from the
10. Literary Devices In Neglect By R. T. Smith
Neglect: to fail to care for properly. This one word can give one feelings of despair,
wretchedness, desolation, and even more. What a perfect word to describe the
destruction of something loved most dearly. R.T. Smith is an award winning poet,
author, and editor. In Smith s Neglect , a man is sharing his sorrows with the
reader because of the death of his beloved Red Delicious apple tree. Throughout
this poem, the author is attempting to explain his emotions of regret and sorrow by
using different literary devices such as imagery and metaphors to compare the death
of his apple tree to the death of a family member or close friend. Towards the
beginning of the poem, the speaker uses imagery when he says, Is the scent of apple
boughs smoking in the woodstove... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker knows that the smoke from the burning applewood and the red apples
from the tree are all he has left to remember of it. In the sentence ...and Red
Delicious apples redder/ than a passing cardinal s crest or cinders. (lines 23 24), the
protagonist is comparing the apples to a cardinal s crest and cinders from the
woodstove, therefore using a metaphor to describe his feeling of loss. He won t
ever get to see the bring red apples from his own apple tree, so he s lamenting the
fact that the last few are all that he has left. Overall, this poem could have several
different meanings. However, the speaker seems to be despairing over the loss of
his red apple tree, and because of the little metaphors placed carefully throughout the
poem, I feel that he is comparing the emotions of a human death to this death. This
poem just goes to prove that very different circumstances can lead to the same types
of emotions. In a poem like this, where we know nothing but the event that took
place, it allows us to interpret the words in our own ways, allowing room for
anything to happen. Such as the terrible death of a man s red apple
11. The Rocking Horse Winner Literary Analysis
The central theme mainly focuses on a woman named Hester who had no luck and
was never satisfied with her life. Since Paul didn t recognized his circumstances, it
created him to desperately seek for his mother s love and approval. Therefore, the
pursuit of money and material riches are the arguments conveyed in the story that
interprets Paul attempting to brighten up his need for love by pleasing his mother s
lust for money. However, others may believe that Paul is just an ordinary kid who
enjoys his rocking horseand don t really understand the true meaning of money. In
the story, The Rocking Horse Winner , Paul s arc demonstrates that the power of
money led to greediness and the intense desire for wealth. The capacity of money is
responsible for a high level of satisfaction because of the fact that Paul s mother don
t love him which created her to buy a rocking horse. According to the text it state
Now! He would silently command the snorting steed. Now, take me to where there is
luck! Now take me! This exhibits how Paul is pertaining to think more about the
rocking horse with his own appeals that eventually advance to other conflicts
throughout the story. For instance, verbal ironywas consumed in the story since Paul
wanted to stop the houses cries for money by providing it with more money. Even
after Paul equipped the house with money, the house continued to haunt Paul s
family. As portrayed in the text it further states Behind the shinning modern rocking

In the pool phase of the PE class, we learned three major components: how to

day in the pool, we warmed up using kick boards and had people start on each side
of the pool. When using a kickboard, we must make sure our two hands are at the
top of the board. The way we used the kickboard involved kicking in the way of the
freestyle stroke. Watching the youtube video, I learned kick boarding is described
as allowing you to target your legs, isolating them so you can practice your kick
stroke, improve your balance, or work on your leg strength. While kick boarding,

The first stroke we learned to do was how to do the freestyle stroke. With this stroke,
you must focus on reaching out in front as far as possible, and pulling the water back
behind you while kicking in a fluttering motion. The motion of your arms should look
like a windmill spinning. In the backstroke, the swimmer has his or her back facing
the bottom of the pool while flutter kicking their feet and doing their arm strokes.
The way the backstroke is different is because with the arm stroke your arm is
going in the opposite direction as the freestyle stroke and you must let your
outside little finger enter the water first for the most efficient way to catch and
push the water. Lastly, we learned the breaststroke. In the breaststroke, your legs
are kicking in a frog like way to push the water back with the bottoms of your feet.
In the youtube video it says that you must sweep your arms outward while trying to
catch as much water possible. When at the end of the arm stroke, the swimmer s
head can come out of the water to take a breathe. Those are each of the stroke we
have used during class time in Physical Education
14. Common Rail Direct Injection
INTRODUCTION
CRDi stands for Common Rail Direct Injection meaning, direct injection of the fuel
into the cylinders of a diesel engine via a single, common line, called the common
rail which is connected to all the fuel injectors.
Whereas ordinary diesel direct fuel injection systems have to build up pressure anew
for each and every injection cycle, the new common rail (line) engines maintain
constant pressure regardless of the injection sequence. This pressure then remains
permanently available throughout the fuel line. The engine s electronic timing
regulates injection pressure according to engine speed and load. The electronic
control unit (ECU) modifies injection pressure precisely and as needed, ... Show more

These systems have a fuel injector for each cylinder, usually located so that they
spray right at the intake valve. These systems provide more accurate fuel metering
and quicker response.
DIRECT INJECTION SYSTEMS
Direct injection means injecting the fuel directly into the cylinder instead of
premixing it with air in separate intake ports. That allows for controlling combustion
and emissions more precisely, but demands advanced engine management
technologies.
Unlike petrol engines, diesel engines don t need ignition system. Due to the inherent
property of diesel, combustion will be automatically effective under a certain
pressure and temperature combination during the compression phase of Otto cycle.
Normally this requires a high compression ratio around 22 : 1 for normally aspirated
engines. A strong thus heavy block and head is required to cope with the pressure.
Therefore diesel engines are always much heavier than petrol equivalent.
The lack of ignition system simplifies repair and maintenance, the absence of throttle
also help. The output of a diesel engine is controlled simply by the amount of fuel
injected. This makes the injection system very decisive to fuel economy. Even
without direct injection, diesel inherently delivers superior fuel economy because of
leaner mixture of fuel and air. Unlike petrol, it can combust under very lean mixture.
This inevitably reduces power output

The U.S. has the highest gun death and ownership rates in the developed world.
Americans are 10 times more likely to be killed with a gun than people in other
developed nations; with an estimated 300 million to 400 million civilian firearms,
the U.S. is by far the most heavily armed nations per capita. About 20 million to 30
million of those guns are semi automatic weapons, according to the National
Shooting Sports Foundation, a lobbying group that wants you to refer to these
weapons as modern sporting rifles. (Wing). Semi automatic weapons are self

show that people who use a fully automatic gun to commit a crime, almost always
use altered semi automatic guns.( The Jack ). With that being said, many people
wonder what are the reasons people might need such dangerous guns in their homes?
This sparks the next main argument, and the answer is crystal clear. their simply isn
t a strong reason for these guns to be owned by the average citizen. High capacity
guns are not needed for hunting, and rarely used for sporting purposes. According to
Jason Marlar, a longtime firearm hobbyist hunters do not need semi automatic
weapons. Hunters don t even need a firearm as most games can be taken with a
bow. Why would a hunter need 9 bullets per second to kill an animal like a deer or
chicken? The same fact applies to self defense. People do not need a high capacity
gun to shoot a robber. If a person plans on needing a highly dangerous gun on an
everyday basis for protection that is a very rare circumstance. In this case that person
might find it helpful to seek outside help from the police. However, for the majority
of cases,
16. Technology And Modern Medicine Has Brought Us The...
Abstract The extraordinary expansion of technology and modern medicine has
brought us the development of telemedicine. Telemedicine allows for medical care
without the barriers of geographic location. This has led to increased access and
convenience for patients nationwide. Historically the state government has led the
regulation of medical practice. Despite these advancements state based licensure laws
continue to hinder the potential of telemedicine practice. State based licensure limits
expansion by forcing physicians to seek multiple licensures to provide care to
patients who reside in states where they are not licensed. This system is inadequate to
address the emerging needs of the healthcare system especially with recent changes in
federal and state laws creating a larger demand for care. Reform of medical licensure
laws is desperately needed to ensure that telemedicine is being utilized to its fullest
ability and citizens are receiving the care they need. The time has come to consider
national licensure and standards for all medical providers. Introduction Telemedicine
is defined as the use of medical information exchanged from one site to another via
electronic communications to improve a patient s clinical health status (American
Telemedicine Association, 2012). Telemedicine includes an expanding assortment of
applications and services that take advantage of video, email, smart phone, wireless
tools, and other telecommunication technologies. These types

19. Essay about Service Marketing
Introduction
In an ideal situation, customers would not have to wait for the delivery of products
and services. However, in the real world, organizations cannot always match exact
capability and demand; therefore, waiting is frequently inevitable while purchasing,
especially in service marketing, as service firms can barely inventory their stock for
sale at a later date (Lovelock, 1992, p.154). In general, waiting in lines known as
queuing , happens when the number of customers arrive at a facility exceeds the
capability of the system to serve them (Lovelock Wirtz, 2011, p.260). Basically, this
essay will state the relationship between queuing and customer satisfaction, as well as

When the consumer is waiting alone and have nothing to do, especially in an
unfamiliar facility, the feeling of boring, uncertain about waiting time, stress and
anxiety will be increasingly enlarged with time passing. Queuing also seems more
burdensome if people feel physically uncomfortable. Moreover, because of a fear of
been forgotten , the senses of get started of customers are fervent. It is claimed that
the anxiety level is much higher while waiting to be served than it is while being
served, even though the latter queuing will be longer (Lovelock Wirtz, 2011, p.267;
Maister, 1985).
Unpleasant waiting experience might accompany with customers go through the
whole service process, which could lower the overall evaluation of service quality
easily. Not only the queuing experience, a number of studies also investigated that
queuing time in a service organization significantly influences consumer satisfaction.
In general, increasing in waiting time is associated with decreasing in customer
satisfaction (Katz, M.Larson C.Larson, 1991). The graph (Dube, Renaghan Miller,
1994) below shows the effect of waiting time on customer satisfaction in restaurant
industry, and suggests that most consumers do not satisfied if the waiting time is
longer than 8 minutes. In addition, another study (Jones Dent, 1994) examined that
70% of respondents considered waiting time as a major
20. Theories Of Labelling
The notion of labelling individuals with mental illness diagnoses and its subsequent
consequences has in particular been a tremendous learning experience. The labelling
theory proposes that cultural stereotypes of mental illness serves as a self fulfilling
prophecy, through which patients play a expected role, hence validating the original
definition (Jones Cochrane 1981, p.100). Furthermore, labelling companied with
stigma associated with mental illnessmakes performance of social roles challenging;
extensively lessening the quality of patients lives. Studies have depicted that
individuals suffering from mental illness also suffer from the perceived stigma that
they are damaging their material, social and psychological wellbeing. Furthermore,

technique. Over the last few years enteroscopies has been introduced and being used
widely. Various types of enteroscopies are being used; among them the most
commonly used are double balloon, single balloon and spiral enteroscopies. In this
dissertation, I am focusing and comparing among the three to find which one is
having highest diagnostic and therapeutic benefits. Objective: To assess the invasive
enteroscopic technique with maximum diagnostic and therapeutic yield, for
common small bowel diseases like OGIB, small bowel crohn s and polyps.
Methods: Online electronic search of databases Medline, CIHNAL, EMBASE,
citation searching, the relevant literatures, carefully selected keywords (enteroscopy,
Single balloon enteroscopy, double balloon enteroscopy, spiral enteroscopy) and its
appropriate combinations were used. Further the citation searching was done to
identify more relevant literatures. Results: From the 1035 articles, selected from
2001 to 2015, six articles were selected after excluding the relevant criteria s and
those were critically apprised and compared to get comprehensive results. Conclusion:

22. Sharecropping During Reconstruction
One of the largest changes during the post Civil War era of Reconstruction was the
fact that African Americans we re now able to participate in legislative activities
including running for office and voting. However, one of the main problems that
still lapsed through the era of Reconstruction was the concept of sharecroppers, in
which blacks were no longer deemed as slaves, rather they were known as tenants
of a given land proprietor. The concept of sharecropping allowed black families to
develop some form of economic autonomy by which they could live by and stabilized
the work force (Foner 98,316). The ability to add new forms of independence to
society was brought on primarily through the ratification of the Fourteenth
Amendment. [No]... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though they may not have had the education their white male counterparts may
have had, they were still able to join politics and represent their fellow previously
enslaved people. At first, though they were citizens they were not allowed to vote in
certain states, primarily southern states that refused to acknowledge it as a necessity
for them. This is one of them many instances in which the southern states refused to
acknowledge the fact that they need to follow the rules that are being set in place by
the government. However, it was also one in which they were trying to find
loopholes. The Fifteenth Amendment, while eventually ratified, took several attempts
to become the ideal law for Congress to pass. The South was still very skeptical with
allowing the freedmen the right to vote, even though they had lost their initial
argument involving slavery. The South waned to maintain their sense of superiority
over those of color through the withholding of the right to vote. However, eventually
in February of 1870 the amendment was ratified and the right to vote was given.
The Fifteenth Amendment accounts for the ability to vote and not be denied based
on a person s race, color, or previous condition of servitude . The ability to vote was
one of the first ways that African Americans were truly influential on state and federal
legislature.
23. Thomas Malthus—Section Summary
Thomas Malthus Section Summary Malthus work, Essay on the Principle of
Population, is often cited, first by Darwin himself, to have influenced Darwin s
conception of the theory of natural selection. His work, though unpopular, and often
proven to be off the mark, did in fact bring to the forefront many socio economic
issues that are still being debated today: populationcontrol, food production and
concerns over uncontrollable diseases arising from the effects of over population. In
this passage it is stated that Malthus was proven wrong: ...Malthus dire predictions
have proven to be wrong... (Efficiency and Equity 211). However, though his

Malthus determined that during this particular scarcity of bread, that though the
shortage was less than comparable shortages in other European countries, the cost
of bread was 3 times as high as normal when, by comparison, the other countries
with worse shortages of bread and bread ingredients, only demonstrated a doubling
of prices. Malthus was obviously very aware of the effect pricing could have on food
supplies and production. Another criticism of Malthus that is only alluded to in the
text is his tendency to heap an undue amount of blame on the lower classes for their
role in population growth:
An 1881 report concluded that 80 percent of famine victims were drawn from the
poorest 20 percent of the population...Thus, if the government spent more of its
revenue on famine relief, an even larger proportion of the population would become
penurious...although the administration was divided about the value of famine relief,
these Malthusian views undoubtedly affected its volume and timing (Caldwell, par.40)
Malthus didn t necessarily propose that poverty, exploding population growth, famine
and disease was intentionally the fault of the poor and lowest social classes, but that
it was their inability

Her heart fluttered at the sight of cherry blossom trees, white and pink petals swayed
gently, the most beautiful sight in Seireitei. How many decades had passed since she

stuffy and demanding Kuchiki elders.
Spidery hands, with nails painted in palest pink, protected by nail shields from thin

The nobility knew that money and more land could be acquired by fighting in the

31. Testing Is A Form Of Testing Used By Our Educational
System
Standardized testing is a form of testing used by our educational system to measure
the success of a school s students and faculty. A typical student takes 112 mandated
standardized tests between PreKindergarten and twelfth grade. The use of these tests
became mandatory in 2002 as part of the No Child Left Behind Act. Although there
are some individuals who support these tests, many parents, students, and teachers
experience the negative effects year after year. Standardized tests impact students
emotionally and do not provide accurate results of a child s educationlevel or teacher s
performance. They take away from students learning new things for months prior to
the testdate as teacher s focus primarily on this one test to satisfy our government.
Standardized testing has been used for many years, but has not always been
mandatory and there was little emphasis put on it. Previously, the test was used to see
where a student was at with their education, but did not dictate the level of their
education or their teachers performance. During this time, the school atmosphere was
more enjoyable and there was an array of curriculum opportunities. Students were
able to discover what they were good at as well as discover, explore, and play in a
relaxed atmosphere and most children loved to attend. Teachers worried about how
they could reach children through their teaching and incorporate important
knowledge and skills in hopes to make the students viable active members of
32. Frederick The Great Leadership Qualities
Frederick the Great of Prussia took the throne in 1740 as an enlightened absolute
monarch. He greatly enlarged Prussia s territories and raised a standing army,
putting it on Europe s map as a rank of power. Throughout his revolutionary reign,
Frederick the Great displayed significant signs of leadership such as overcoming
obstacles, putting his people first, and making tactical decisions as a military

One common characteristic of leaders is the ability to overcome obstacles. When
Frederick the Great faced a hardship, he bounced back from it, Specifically, the loss
in 1759 to the Russian army at Kunersdorf, temporarily reduced him to despair with
thoughts of suicide ( Frederick II ). Even so, he persevered and the many defeats
that came from The Seven Years War ended with Frederick back on top with Silesia

objectives, Frederick must have had to prioritize his people, which is a typical trait
of some of the greatest leaders. It goes on to say, Notably, his insistence on the

that he genuinely cared for the wellbeing of individuals and lead Prussia in such a

Here we see Hugh s troubled mind. We see that he all of a sudden does not want to

Friel s use of the dramatic (pause) shows how Hugh s mind is in constant battle. He

In form, The Tall T is a fairly straightforward melodrama, utilizing familiar stock
characters such as the ignoble swindler, the naГЇve woman, the honorable bandit
leader, and most importantly the cowboy hero forced into the role of gunfighter and
man of action by desperate circumstances. In these respects, The Tall T, though
produced in 1957, is representative of the great massof simplistic, histrionic films
which constituted the majority of the Western genre output during the 1920s through

On the ethical plane, the level of this preГ«minence is such that it manifests itself as
a tangible aura Frank, the bandit leader, is drawn towards Brennan, even coming
right out and saying, I don t know why I like you, Brennan, in an unconscious
recognition of virtue; the woman implicitly trusts Brennan from the moment he
hitches a ride on her stagecoach. As far as physical supremacy is concerned, the
gunfighting scenes in the movie are few, but once Brennan finally gets his hands on
a gun, the battle is as good as over Brennan s marksmanship is clearly superior even
to Chingo s. In sum, once Brennan has been caught up in the dramatic situation of the
film, he is unquestionably in control of his fate, even in captivity.
And yet this unquestionable dominance is plausible only with an equally
unquestioning credulity in the internal logic of the film; the viewer must exert
considerable suspension of disbelief in order for The Tall T to work as it was
intended. Such willing involvement is simply acceptance of a genre s prevailing
conventions; Edward Buscombe, in his introduction to The BFI Companion to the
Western, notes that the Western is not merely a milieu or a way of life, but another
world, or at least another country (16). However, the world of the Western is hardly
homogeneous and separate; over the years the iconography of the Western has altered,
37. The Dwelling Place A Plantation Epic Summary
The Dwelling Place, A Plantation Epic, is a book by Erskine Clark about
plantation life in the coastal low country of Georgia from the beginning of the
19th century to the end of the American Civil War. It chronicles the life of Charles
Colcock Jones (1804 1863), a member of a wealthy slave owning planter family in
Liberty County, Georgia. As with many plantation families, Charles was expected
to follow in his father s footsteps and take over the family plantation business.
While training for this at a counting house in Savannah, he received a calling to
pursue a life as a Presbyterian minister. At about the same time, due to some
unfortunate deaths in his family, Charles became the recipient of some tracts of
land and the slaves that went with them. He now had to decide between pursuing
the life of a planter and supporting his family or following his calling to be a
minister. He chose a rather difficult path, he was going to become a minister and
bring the gospel and Christianity to the slaves on his plantations and those of his
neighbors while managing a profitable plantation business. The purpose of this
essay is to discuss the hypocrisy that Charles Colcock Jones developed as he tried
to find a balance between these two contradictory careers. Even before Charles had
left the plantation, he became aware of a perceived difference between the white
world and the world of the slaves, a difference that would be used as an ideological
tool to provide justification for the

opinions, no matter how unpopular. Though the mother in this essay uses
extraordinary words and is obviously a well educated woman, the diction used by
the speaker is generally straightforward to the average person; therefore, it can be
concluded that the story was written for the average person. The terms used are
nonetheless very specific and suited to their purpose of describing the mother,
especially with several precise adjectives appearing constantly. The mother has an
emotional voice (p. 78), holds unpopular, even fantastic, positions (p. 78), and
gives a vibrantly innocent look (p. 77) after destroying a game of bridge. However,
the essay does require thinking, as several of the examples of the mother s
behavior and phrases that she employs are very clever and include a much more
sophisticated diction, as is true in the mother s life. When she responds to the
question Save stamps? (p. 75) with No...I build model airplanes (p. 75). Even the
speaker could not understand what her meant for years, which was that building
model airplanes was her hobby, not collecting stamps. The tone and diction that the
speaker uses is simple, but the reader has to work harder to understand examples of
things the speaker s mother does or says. The speaker also makes good use of

42. Symbolism In Into The Wild
Symbols are used to represent many things, including distance, isolation, and
journeys. Into the Wild is a film that is based off a true story, which was written by
Jon Krakauer. Into the Wild contains many symbols related to the topics of
distance, isolation, and journeys. Likewise, The Catcher in the Rye, written by
J.D. Salinger, includes a series of symbols as well. The title, Into the Wild,
represents Chris McCandless s journey of finding himself when he runs away from
his home, so he can live in the wild. The title of The Catcher in the Rye is symbolic
of what Holden wants to be when he is older. Holden wants to be the person who
waits by the rye and catches all the kids that are about to jump off. This represents
how Holden is scared of the transfer from childhood to adulthood, he wants to
prevent the kids from growing up. A great story... Show more content on

Money influenced them to do what the believe in and to think what they want to
think. Salinger wrote in the perspective of a teenager who is almost obsessed with
money. To Holden the amount of money someone has represents what they are
like. As stated, It isn t important, I know, but I hate it when somebody has cheap
suitcases. It sounds terrible to say it, but I can even get to hate somebody, just
looking at them, if they have cheap suitcases with them (Salinger 121). This quote
shows that Holden was so caught up in the world of money that it makes him sick
to see someone to have even one thing cheap. On the other hand, Chris believed
money was not needed. In the beginning of the film, Chris is seen during all his
money and then living on his feet and the stuff on his back. Chris does not care
about money at all, he never wanted to be associated with money. While Holden
loved money, possibly more than life itself, Chris hated money as much as he hated
his abusive father. To tie together, both stories contain the symbols of money, hats, and
43. Pericles Foils
Throughout Pericles, Prince of Tyre, there exists a blatant dichotomy between good
and evil. The play lacks moral ambiguity within many of the central characters. One
can recognize this dichotomy by analyzing the utilization of foils in Pericles. Pericles
incorporates obviously corrupt characters that contrast with virtuous counterparts. For
instance, in two analogous instances Pericles travels to a new city, attempting to court
a princess. The first princess, King Antiochus daughter, acts as a foil to Thaisa, the
second princess. Thaisa is a virgin with a healthy relationship with her father, while
Antiochus daughter engages in an incestuous affair with her own father. Pericles
finds no difficulty choosing which princess to engage just as the audience has no
difficulty passing judgment upon the characters.... Show more content on

Antiochus, a corrupt and powerful tyrant, mounts the heads of his daughter s suitors
upon a wall as he engages in an incestuous relationship with his daughter. As is
apparent, Shakespeare bestows absolutely no redeeming qualities to King Antiochus.
King Simonides, on the other hand, foils Antiochus as a wise, affable ruler. For
example, he allows Pericles to participate in the tournament despite his grimy
appearance, Opinion s but a fool, that makes we scan The outward habit by the
inward man. (2.2.55 56) Pericles, who gives little praise throughout the play, declares
upon hearing of Simonides death, Heaven make a star of him.
44. The Audio Engineer
A vital part in the making of any professionally made album is the production and
post production process. These processes are the responsibility of audio engineers
employed by record labels. The engineers are responsible for the recording, mixing,
and mastering of audio tracks. To do this, engineers are trained with various
technologies in the fields of multi track recording, outboard gear and digital/analog
workstations. With their knowledge and tools, engineers help the artists convey their
art as best as possible not only to themselves but also to the demographic they wish to
express their art to.
The job of the engineer can be best described as a presenter in a techno artistic field.
The job requires the technical capabilities and ... Show more content on

According to an interview of noted audio engineer Simon Kasprowicz what makes a
good engineer from a bad is totally subjective and depends upon individual desire
because what may sound fantastic to someone, others will find fault in (Kasprowicz,
about.com).
When all of the tracks of a project have been recorded, assembled, and edited onto the
digital audio workstation or tape deck, the next step would be to individually mix
the elements of their work in their final edited forms. The mix down process occurs
by routing the various tracks of a digital audio workstation or tape based recorder
through a hardware virtual mixing console to alter the overall session s program, all
which include getting relative level, spatial positioning, using equalizers, and
effects. Once these measures are taken care of, the engineer can then set up a rough
mix of the song by adjusting levels and the spatial pan positions. The producer who
is mostly provides feedback to the artist and the engineer during the session, listens to
the mix and may ask the engineer to make specific changes such as amplitude
adjustments. Instruments in their isolated tracks are often soloed for equalized
changes to be made. The usual compression and limiting can be used in the mixing
process to make individual tracks sound fuller and more consistent

It is common to see soldiers die in war, but the conflict between India and Pakistan
is no ordinary war. The conflict between India and Pakistan is so big they are
warning each other with Nuclear war impacted by physical geography. How has the
physical geography of Southern Asia impacted the conflict between India and Pakistan
since the 20th century? There are three major factors that are affecting the
relationship between India and Pakistan relating to geography. These three factors
are nature, history and religion that I will be writing about. One of the ways India
and Pakistan are in a conflict is because of religion and the geography of the region
has impacted religion.
Religion is in various places, in different atmospheres. Most people believe that
symbolism, beliefs are all shaped by the world we live in claims Elizabeth Bornman
(1), this tells us most commonly people are born into their religion. Different
locations where people may have been born could have impacted the religious beliefs
of those people. Making them believe their religion is the best.

In 1974 it was predicted that it fall under Pakistan since most of the population was
Muslim, according to Borneman (2), this causes a fight over which religion is better.
It was decided that India will get Jammu Kashmir, but Pakistan was waiting The
Raja of Jammu and Kashmir to consider changing it to part of Pakistan according to
Suzane Martin (1),later on it was made official that India got Kashmir. Which later
on caused war between India and Pakistan. This decision has had an impact on
religion. Pakistan is wanting still Kashmir and it is clear that geography is impacting
the religion and the conflict between India and Pakistan. Geography can also not
impact religion but nature as
