Seventy one percent of students report incidents of bullying in American schools
each year ( Anti Bullying ). This bullying can take many forms, but they are all
harmful. Although bullying has occurred for generations, the types of bullying have
changed, which has led to higher numbers of incidences and more severe effects or
those being bullied.
BACKGROUND
Bullying can have lifelong consequences for its victims. Approximately, 160,000
teens skip school annually due to harassment. One in ten students will drop out of
school because of bullying. This shows that bullying can have a dramatic impact
on the victim s education. Bullying can take many forms including physical,
verbal, and/or cyber bullying. However, in whatever form bullying takes, the
victim can feel low self esteem, fear, and depression ( Anti Bullying ). The increase
of bullying cases has led to government and school leaders proposing efforts to stop
it. President Obama issued a Presidential Directive in 2013 that identified key
school safety initiatives and specific proposals to curb school bullying after the
tragic school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. Bullying is also
addressed in the Education Code through the Safe Place to Learn Act (SPLA), which
requires each school district to adopt policies to prohibit school bullying when it is
based on protected classifications, and to implement procedures for filing and

philosophy. From daily exposure and continuous personal research I know that
poverty means more than a lack of money; it means a lack of resources financial,
relational, neurological, social emotional, experiential, and linguistic. It was from this
list of necessary resources that I developed my teaching philosophy and the strategies
to reinforce it. Currently, I collaboratively teach Pre K with another teacher, two
teacher assistants and 40 children. About 60% of my students are English language
learners. I teach all subjects: reading, writing, math, science, and art. Inclusive in the
content are the social emotional skills: patience, sharing, focus, emotional vocabulary,
standing up for others, using words instead of violence, exploration, and the value of
creativity. Collaborative teaching is a critical tool for balancing efficacious direct
instruction and observation/assessment. By choosing to team teach I have provided

Evaluation
The hypothesis of the experiment stated that fertilizer would have the highest
average growth followed by the control and then other trial groups. This data is
partially in compliance with the experiment s hypothesis in that the fertilizer group
ended with a higher average length than the control group and the motor oil group
ended with a lower average length than the control group. However, the hypothesis is
rejected because the detergent group ended up having the highest average length and
the pesticide average mass (0.48g) was higher than that of the control group (0.45g).
All the trial groups in this lab showed a positive trend for the average lengths of the
bean sprouts over the period of the experiment (see Table 4 and Figure... Show more
The first of these is the contamination of several of the samples. The control, motor
oil, and fertilizer groups were contaminated with mold which grew on and around
many of the beans in each of those groups. Even though rubber gloves were worn to
keep some contaminants out, mold spores are carried in the air and attach to many
sources so there was high potential for them to come into contact with the beans and,
given the resources available for this lab, no way to isolate the beans to protect
against it. In addition, mold grows well in an environment with nutrients, room
temperature, and considerable moisture (Fairey, Chandra, Moyer, n.d). The
conditions of this experiment were ideal for mold growth making it even more
difficult to eliminate or control for it. The presence of mold in some of the trial
groups presented another uncontrollable variable that may have had an effect on the
sprout growth (in both length and mass) of the beans which would have skewed these
