Ethical Dilemma Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Ethical Dilemma Essays" can be a challenging task, as it
requires not only a clear understanding of ethical principles but also the ability to analyze
complex situations and navigate through the moral intricacies involved. Crafting such an essay
demands a careful balance between presenting the ethical dilemma itself and delving into the
ethical theories or frameworks that can be applied to evaluate and resolve the situation.
The difficulty arises in identifying a compelling ethical dilemma, one that engages the reader and
prompts critical thinking. It's not just about describing a moral quandary but also about exploring
the underlying ethical principles, considering alternative courses of action, and evaluating the
consequences of each decision. Additionally, maintaining objectivity while expressing personal
insights adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, the writer must communicate the ethical dilemma in a coherent and structured
manner, ensuring that the essay follows a logical flow from introduction to conclusion. It requires
a nuanced approach to avoid oversimplification of the issue or, conversely, drowning the reader
in excessive details.
The research involved is often multifaceted, requiring a deep understanding of ethical theories,
case studies, and real-world examples. One must be prepared to engage with diverse
perspectives and be capable of presenting a well-reasoned argument.
In conclusion, writing an essay on ethical dilemmas demands not only a strong command of
ethical principles but also excellent analytical and writing skills. It's a challenging endeavor that
requires careful consideration, critical thinking, and a commitment to presenting a thoughtful
exploration of the topic.

The Importance Of Video Games
Video games are generally seen as a waste of time and nothing good can come out
of playing them. People usually associate video games with nerds and adults who
stay in the basements of their parent s house. With all these negative associations
with video games, it is hard to see that video games can actually be helpful and
beneficial to an individual s mental and physical health. The negative associations of
video games started from the Video gamecrash of 1983. The crash led to bankruptcy
of numerous companies that were producing computers and video game consoles.
Due to the bankruptcy, the majority of the population believed that working for
computer companies and video games would be a waste of time since job security
was not high. Presently, both computer and video games companies are successful,
but the majority of the population still believes the negative aspect of video
games. While it was about job security before, the negativity aspect associated with
video games has changed. The big negative aspect associated with gaming is that it
is a waste of time and can only negatively affect an individual s mental and physical
health. Chris Regal, an author of Health Central who wrote 8 Ways Video Games
Are Bad For Your Health, argued that video games increases obesity, increases
aggressive behavior, and more likely to become less educated. While these claims
can be true, these claims also focus on individuals who have spent the majority of
their time playing video games. I can see Regal s conclusion because there are
cases that prove that his points. The increase in obesity is true because individuals
are more and more of their time playing video games instead of exercising. People
believe it increases aggressive behavior because most action games are usually
aggressive, but in reality, individuals with high aggressive behavior are usually the
ones who play aggressive action games. Individuals are also more likely to be less
educated because children who go to school would not focus on studying or doing
their homework because they want to play video games more. Since the majority of
the population believe these claims, a new derogatory was created to describe gamers
which is NEET. NEET is short for Not in
Homeless Persuasive Speech
The media: a universal instrument that tugs at our deepest and most sensitive thought
processes. Yes, you heard correctly; and, here s a news flash for you: these mass
manipulators that reign over us are stopping at nothing, even so that the homeless
community are being dragged into this opinion filled arena.
We, the human population, have been taught that any media outlet such as the
newspaper is our go to . Little do we know that this information has been orchestrated
to both glorify and vilify people and events. As such, you would believe that the
recent issue surrounding the homeless being removed from Melbourne s CBD would
simply outline a factually based retelling of events. No, absolutely not. Rather, the so
acclaimed factually based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actually, no. The Guardian has presented this issue in a surprisingly different light,
almost explicitly revealing the sheer empathy towards the homeless and their given
situation. By placing inverted commas around cleanup in the headline Melbourne city
council denies homeless camps cleanup linked to Australian Open , this is implying
that it was not in any way a clean up, but rather a pure demolition of their homes. Just
below the headline is an image of Flinders Street Station beaming with a vibrant
yellow at night time. The Guardian wants these two mediums to radiate with us; to
encourage us to still view Melbourne as a very aesthetically pleasing city while
denouncing the actions of the council removing the homeless from this glorified
urban location.
By planting this seed, the Guardian sees this to their advantage, and begins by
showing photographs of the homeless camps being rebuilt after the police left. This is
complemented by the perspective of former homeless man John Kenney explaining
that homelessness is not a choice...the authorities don t care where they end up, just
as long as they go . Do you see it? The selection of information is emotively devised
to pressure us to empathise with the homeless community; that rebuilding their camps
is a sign of growth and the council is the devil for taking that away from
Terrorism, The Nuclear Hazard And Black Market
In the spectrum of modern international politics the key preeminent threats to security
and the sense of freedom from those threats are terrorism, the nuclear hazard and
black market in materiel. These three security issues, not only affect national and
international security, but also societal and economic security. Terrorism, has
maintained the status as a preeminent threat in the modern world today, but has also
become a worldwide phenomenon that has impacted not only in the Middle East but
also in the Western World alike. Terrorism has rapidly become a increasing security
issue as attacks upon innocent non combatants (Howard, L, 1992) have proliferated
around the world, and are no longer an occurrence that can be conveniently ignored
by society, that can not only undermine and make superpowers appear vulnerable, but
instils fear into civilians and governments alike. In addition to these factors, economy
expert Kimberly Amadeo surveyed the economic security of the United States after
the September 2001 twin tower bombings that killed 2993 and injured 8900 people.
Amadeo (2014) found that the 2001 attacks caused the Dow Jones to drop more than
600 points, subsequently leading to the 2001 recession. This puts the security issue of
terrorism into not only the category of national and societal security, but also that
concerning the national economy that increases in volatility, as the relationship
between the political structures of international anarchy (Makinda,
What Causes Pig Influenza
Every day brings a new challenge, a new lesson, and prayerfully, a new blessing.
Good things come but unfortunately, so do the bad. I remember just a few years ago
hearing of people near and far being infected with the swine flu, which is the
transmitting of pig influenza into humans. It is also known as swine influenza, pig
influenza, or hog flu. This was devastating to hear. Being of a younger generation,
this was my first time hearing of something as drastic and severe as this. I began
wondering what caused this and why now? This disease destroyed the lives of many.
Some begin exiting their homes wearing masks, stocking on disinfectants, and
covering up to prevent this deadening disease. Hearing that this was not the first time

Its significance began with the initial onslaught in 1347 to 1354. Frequent
recurrences made it hard to regain the balance of the middle ages, and the social
pillars of the church, family life, and the economy were changed forever.
Monasteries and clergy suffered the greatest loss. The Europeans began to blame
God because they had no explanation for the outrage. Priests and bishops could not
give answers for what was happening so they abandoned their Christian duties and
fled. This caused the monasteries to be run by less educated people, who
eventually resigned. As the church weakened, so did the hope of the European
people. Animosity between the Christians and Jews arose, art and music became
dark and depressed, and people became obsessed with cultural death. The rich and
poor, the young and old, man, woman, boy and girl were all impacted. No one was
safe. No one could help the
Essay On User Profiling
User Profiling: A Survey from Modeling to Personalization Abstract The growth of
the available information on the web and the diversity of its users is a valuable
resource for personalization. The user profile includes the essential information about
the user and it is an outcome of the user profiling process. Building and maintaining
dynamic user profile is the main challenge in developing an effective personalized
application. Many research projects and companies are interesting in developing
modeling systems and personalizing user s interaction with the system. We examine
what information is being modeled for presenting various user models, how this
information is acquired and collected, how the user model is represented and... Show

It may include demographic information, e.g., name, age, country, education level,
etc. and should capture the behavior (patterns, goals, interesting topics, etc.) of a user
shows when interacting with the Web. User modeling is defined as the process of
gathering information about user s interests, constructing, maintaining and using user
profiles. For example in e business systems, it captures online users characteristics,
knows online users, provides customized products and services, and therefore
improve user satisfaction. There are two approaches in user modeling process. These
are the generation of an initial user profile for a new user and the continuous update
of the profile information to adapt user s changing preferences, interests and needs. A
major challenge within user profiling is how user profiles can be constructed that
accurately reflects users preferences. User profiling techniques have widely applied
in various web search, user adaptive software systems, web user identification,
personalization, recommendation, e market analysis, intelligent tutoring systems,
intelligent agents, as well as personalized information retrieval and filtering. The
personalized systems require some information about users in order to learn and
respond to their interests and needs. The motivation of building user profiles is that

The Importance Of Socioeconomic Status In College
Education
Applying to college was a compelling and demanding time for me throughout my
senior year of High School. However, there was an additional amount of stress I
experienced due to the limitations brought on to me from my family s financial
struggles. Throughout the college enrollment process, I was disheartened to know
that I was incapable of attending certain colleges I preferred due to my lower
socioeconomic background. My personal experiences with paying the expensive
college tuition cost have impelled me to explore in depth the impact that a college
student s socioeconomic status may have on their college enrollment and degree
attainment in the United Statesof America.
Throughout this essay, I would like to gain insight into why certain socioeconomic
backgrounds/statuses in the United States of America have higher rates of college
enrollment and degree attainment than others. Specifically, certain races associated
with a socioeconomic status. In addition, I will seek attainable solutions for these
college students from lower socioeconomic statuses who are struggling with attaining
academic success.
Before exploring the influence of a college student s parental socioeconomic status on
their education, let s first determine the composition of a socioeconomic status and
the races associated with a given socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic status is
determined by an individual s employment occupation, income, and level of education
(Malone).
Let s look at various data
My Experience With My Family Trips
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better was an
outlook I found within my research for this trip (Einstein). Family trips are always an
interesting experience and sometimes hard to understand. Between the arguing and
stress of packing, my family finds a way to get on the road quite often. However, the
next tripplanned arose a new level of anxiety. Until this trip, I have never traveled to
a place far from society and slept within the pure darkness of the night. The
adrenaline rush of hunting to find a safe space for shelter, hanging a bear bag, and
climbing the cliffs of Red RiverGorge was an experience I did not expect; however,
my father, brother, two other family friends, and I conquered this expedition... Show

Spring break came faster than I imagined, and we were soon on the road to
nowhere. The trip became more nerve racking as we made our last stop with
civilization at the park ranger s office. The ranger was very hopeful that we would
not run into too many issues within our trip, however, I was not. He made it clear
that we must take all bear precautions, even though he attempted to convince us there
were no bears in the area. He also made it clear we must find high ground for camp
due to weather concerns. Listening to his safety speech made me regret committing
to this adventure.
After gathering our packs and a map from the office, we approached the first trail.
My shoes were tied, my pack was on securely, and I realized what we were actually
about to do. The first couple of miles seemed easy because the trail was wide and
the elevation was only increasing slowly. By the fourth mile, the trip began to
change. My ten year old brother and his friend became tired and the elevation was
dramatically increasing. The small wide hills became steep, narrow rocks. Scott
took the lead to find safe footwork. This is when I regretted the forty pound
backpack. Using Scott s hand and a tree limb I pulled myself up an almost four
foot tall rock and then another. I turned around to look back at the rest of the group
and realized I was only a couple inches away from falling off an eighteen foot drop.
Company s Bottom Line Of Divesting Aol
Executive Summary
The purpose of this research paper is to examine the impact to the company s bottom
line of divesting AOL from Time Warner and of selling the AOL Europe holdings.
The conversant Time Warner merged with AOL in 2001. This produced a loss in
value to both entities. Since the merger, Time Warnerhas looked at ways to either
increase its overall revenue through divesting units or portions of the conglomerate
by acquiring other companies to help increase earnings potential. This paper looks at
the impact to Time Warner if it divests its AOLunit and also what would be the best
way to proceed with selling its AOL Europe holdings. This paper will take a historic
perspective on memo 8 and memo 10 on this case study.
INTRODUCTION
Internet pioneer America Online purchased Time Warner in January 2000 for $165
billion. This merger would become the biggest in history. At the time, Time Warner
was considered to be the largest traditional media company, so the merger was to
serve as an indication that timeworn and new media were in the beginning stages of
convergence. The AOL/Time Warner merger involved a vertical combination of the
biggest Internet content provider with a hefty cable system operator, which offered a
channel through which broad band subscribers could have access to Internet content
at high speeds. AOL had nearly 30 million subscribers worldwide and they would be
positioned to attain access to Time Warner s information and entertainment territory.

Where the Wild Things Are is inappropriate for children, this book should not be
banned because the author uses a wild child s journey to create a metaphor for
dealing with anger that every child experiences through consequences and how
parents love for their children is unconditional. In this book, Max is sent to bed
without dinner for being disruptive and causing mischief. As a consequence, his mom
sends him to his room without dinner. His anger transforms his room into a jungle as
he heads out on a journey to where the wild things are. Upon arrival, Max is greeted

sugarcoated. Max is able tame these beasts and make himself king. The very first
act was to throw a wild rumpus. However, he stops the party: and sent the wild
things off to bed without their supper, just like his mother punished him. Max

The Director Is The Conductor And The Audience s Feelings
In cinematography, as Quentin Tarantino discusses in an interview, the director is the
conductor and the audience s feelings are the instrument that directors utilize to
evoke emotion. Directors have many tools they use to evoke the viewer s emotions
and properly captivate the audience. One of the tools directors use to control the
audience, in addition to special effects, is dialogue. Dialogue has the power to push
an audience to tears when a character dies, or make them laugh at the same scene
with different dialogue between the characters. This dialogue is only possible through
the creation of a storyworld where absurd dialogue would be deemed appropriate.
This is what makes Quentin Tarantinosuch an effective director, he has mastered the
skill of controlling the audience s emotions through establishing a storyworld, and
using dialogue with his horrifying scenes. His mastery of evoking emotioncan be seen
in many of his films. Most notably in Pulp Fiction, which won an Oscar and a
Golden Globe for best screenplay. In Pulp Fiction, the viewer finds him or herself in a
whirlwind of emotion, laughing in horror at horrendous acts of violence. The
emotions that are elicited while watching these intense scenes are possible because of
the dialogue Quentin Tarantino uses. He masters the ability to evoke emotion
through outrageous scenes in combination with memorable dialogue. The social
norms within a storyworld, as well as characters ridiculous interactions with each
other,
Civil Rights in Colored People by Henry Louis Gates
Henry Louis Gates admiration and following of great civil rights movement leaders,
including his mother, seems to show that he has an optimistic position on history and
social change in his book Colored People . Throughout the beginning chapters he is
shown growing up noticing the contract between his mother s view and the rest of the
Colemans. She would stand up to white people. He admired her spark and vitality,
whished to grow up in a world where he can see his mother treated with the respect
she deserves. Freedom from the chains of segregation was his goal, most notably
his adventures during his college years. He was dating a white girl and was also
going to extreme lengths to make sure Piedmont becomes unsegregated. Growing up
he sees the flame within his mother diminishing. This occurrence doesn t phase his
determination, the contrary; he decides to resurrect his mother s passion. He
attempts that by helping his father buy her a house, since she always wanted to own
property. He seems to also believe that the arc of history curves, no matter how many
curves it takes it, towards justice. He at least did throughout his adolescence years.
However, in the big scheme of history, it seems that his view is not as one
dimensional as readers would expect. Gate s book reveals to us how history can be
ironic in the form of a shocking change of tone in the concluding chapters. He doesn t
imply that history is approaching its doom because of our actions, it is simply pointing
Atticus s Kill A Mockingbird Essay
Tom Robinson had been accused to raping Bob Ewell s daughter, Mayella.
Although Atticus provided all the evidence that proved he was innocent, the jury
declared him guilty and he was sent to a prison. There, he was shot dead by the
guards after allegedly trying to escape. But this is all suspicious since Tom knew
that he might still have a good chance of being released. It is also skeptical because
the guards shot him seventeen times, an unnecessary amount, Atticus said
seventeen bullet holes in him. They didn t have to shoot him that much (Lee 268).
Atticus realizesDill dares Jem to run up to the Radley s door and touch it, which is
a big deal to them. Scout s comments and reactions aided in triggering her older
brother to accept Dill s dare. Scout teases and mocks him about being scared. She
says that in all his life, Jem had never declined a dare , and he wasn t about to now
(Lee 14).When he hesitates, she laughs at him. He can t admit that he s scared,
especially not to his little sister who would never let him live it down. Everyone in
Maycomb believes that the Radleys are dangerous and no one dares to really talk
to them. They don t follow the unwritten social rules that everyone else follows, and
that is weird and mysterious to people. The community is mostly suspicious of
Arthur Radley, also known as Boo Radley. People believe he is hostile because
when he was a teen, he got in with the wrong crow and was arrested. Fifteen years
later, he had another incident.
Basketball Essay
Since its conception in 1891, the sport of basketball has always been a catalyst for
excitement that never ceases to amuse its viewers. It not only excites those
participating in the sport, but also manages to innervate those who watch from the
comfort of their couch. This surge in energy continues to persuade even the most
indolent individuals to join in a friendly game of basketballevery once in awhile.
Basketball has long been praised as an elegant sport because of its focus on
accuracy, precision, and teamwork. Qualities such as these are the main reason that
basketball is gradually becoming America s national pastime. Despite its fame and
recognition, basketball was merely created as a hobby and was never intended to
become a global... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sport became so popular that the National Basketball Association (NBA) was
created in order to supply the nation with a televised center of professional
basketball. A mere 8 teams were expected, and almost obligated, to entertain a nation
of excitement craving sports fans. The creators of the NBA saw that this would
become a debilitating problem and over the next 30 years nearly tripled to 22 teams
stationed throughout the country. Along with this increase in professional teams, the
founders of the NBA wanted to create a new league to increase the NBA s variety.
This led to the American Basketball Association(ABA) being created and providing
even more fierce competition between superstar caliber talent. The ABA quickly
gained popularity due to the players who rebelled against the idea of basketball
fundamentals and instead opted to perform flashy moves that bedazzled the
audience. In 1976, the NBA and the ABA combined to for the NBA that we all
know and recognize today. This was a direct result of integration in major sports and
was done as a marketing technique that would help gain the less bigoted fans. From
then on, the NBA continued to dominate the sports world and has made many of its
players into household names. This has quickly allowed basketball to become
America s favorite pastime with over 48% of adults admitting that basketball was
there favorite sport.

High School And Middle School Similarities
Hearing the words high school does not seem as a life impacting word. When hearing
that word, majority of people take it as a series of grade levels or a step closer to
college. But little do they realize, who they were in middle school is not the same
person they are in high school. Mainly because with middle schooland high school
comes many differences and similarities. For example, honor students may have the
sample amount of homework, where appearance and friends change throughout the
years.
With high school and middle school there will be differences. With appearance in
middle school it was not the main focus. Students would just go to school in order
to get well educated. The dress code the students set for themselves were a basic
non brand or off brand polo, with basic jeans and topped off with a pair of
champion sneakers that may have cost less than fifty dollars. Also, whatever the
parents choose for their children was acceptable only because it did not change
who the students were or who they hung out with. However, in high school it
makes a high difference on what people chose to wear. It basically categorizes the
group of people they hung out with because wearing a middle school inspired outfit
could have a student bullied. The reason why that could happen is because not
everyone is accepted in high school to every group of students. In high school most
of the students have the age requirements to recipients a job. Most of them do have a
job, allowing them to
Rational Choice Theory On Alcohol And Violence
Alcohol is highly used substance across the country and the most frequent cause of
criminal acts, but cannot be the sole reason for the cause of criminal acts when an
individual s background has a contributing factor. To understand alcohol related
violence we must know the potential crimes that can be a product of alcohol and what
contributing factors lead the actor to the incident. One must also understand how
alcohol related violenceis a rational choice of the individual and society s belief that
we suffer the appropriate consequences of our own actions. Therefore, Rational
Choice Theoryis applied to the laws that govern criminal acts when the actor had the
choice to act as society expects. Many critics of RCT believe that punishment is not
always the answer and that offenders have environmental and medical factors that
cause their criminal behavior. Theorist that believe in the Positivism Theory believe
there is a reason for the offense and the behavior can be corrected. Each are different
in views, but both hold the offender accountable.
ALCOHOL RELATED VIOLENCE
Alcohol use and violence are common in our society because many participate in
drinking as a social activity, whether it is casual or frequent. Alcohol related violence
happens when an individual has consumed an amount to cause his or her actions to
become uncontrollable and resulting in a criminal act being committed. (National
Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 1997) Understanding the nature
Testilling In The Police Testilying
Testilying is used as a slang term by the police, what it means is police perjury or a
false testimony, the use for testilying is to tell someone that they had done something
even though they did not, this is to make the person feel as if they had been caught,
although some suspects will deny that they had done the crime. The book explains
that misconducting someone is rare, because at some point they will find out
someone who has done the crime. The problem with testilying is that policestretch the
truth in order to get the suspect in jail for what they had done this can be a very bad
for police officers as they can be fired from their jobs but to them testilying is the
only way to get rid of people off the streets. The reasons for why police perjuryhas
become so bad is that police officers want to keep people who do bad crimes longer
in prison because they think that the suspect deserves it. Three reasons why perjury
can not be ceased is police officers are trying to justify why and how the suspect
must get a longer sentence, police have to make quick and swift situations and
because they believe that they are doing the right thing because what they see is what
they believe.
Some police join to protect the law and build a safe community some join because.
It seems like a cool job or the minority of the group, to be a total jerk. But everyone
of these brave officers have a their own minds and may stretch the truth in order for
a suspect to get a worse sentence or a
The United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, a census was taken every 10 years starting from 1801.
With the exception of 1941 due to the Second World War, the census kept a very
good idea of the current population and assisted in predicting futures sizes.
Population data for years prior to the census was provided from directories and
gazetteers as many churches took number on the size of its inhabitants. Estimated in
the 1500s, Scotland had a populationof 500,000 persons, and according to the 2011
census, the country has reached an extraordinary 5,295,000 persons. As of 2012, the
birth rate was 11 births/1,000 people and a death rate of 10.5 deaths/1,000 people
this suggests that the population growth is rather relaxed since almost as many are
born and die... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ratio of male to female has roughly been the same for the last seventy years, in
favor of the females 51%:49%. Divided amongst three age groups, Scotland has
split the population by work status; 17% aged under 16 (unable to work full time),
65% aged 16 64 (potentially full time workers) and 18% aged 65 and over
(retirees). Furthermore, the end tail of the retiree column has been growing in
recent times as the number of males over 100 years of age has more than doubled
between the years of 2003 and 2013. Formerly only 60 persons reached this age in
a generation have now escalated to 130 males. The females, starting off
substantially higher than the males, have risen as well. In 2003, there were 470
females over the age of 100 in a single generation. That number is now 720 during
the same period as the 130 males. Obviously on a global scale, developed nations
are living longer due to better health, better lifestyles and also medical assistance.
These figures do not go into detail whether these men and women are free or are in
a vegetative state, being kept alive via machine. Although not the main reason why
the nation s older population is living longer, it is certainly a contributing factor that
Scotland s leading causes of death including cancer, coronary heart disease (CHD)
and stroke are declining and stem from the impact of lifestyle
Common Carriers Research Paper
Just like every other industry, trucking has its own jargon, which can be confusing to
newbies and outsiders alike. One area of confusion pertains to the different types of
carriers that operate on the nation s roadways, hauling everything from food to
consumer goods and even hazardous materials. So, just what are private, common,
contract and independent carriers, what attributes do they share, and what sets them
apart? Commonalities The most obvious common trait that every type of carrier
shares is that they transport some type of cargo, usually with large semi trucks and
trailers. They employ drivers that hold, at a minimum, a commercial drivers license
(CDL) and sometimes require specially trained drivers, such as those with a
HAZMAT endorsement. They are all subject to the same federal... Show more content

They are, in effect, consolidation shippers. What that means is they accept
products from multiple providers that are being shipped to a similar destination.
Perhaps the most recognizable common carriers are companies like FedEx and
UPS. Contract Carriers This type of carrier serves a specific market segment, such
as those needing flatbed trucks for the transportation of construction materials and
equipment. This is advantageous to companies who require a reliable delivery
schedule and specialized equipment. An excellent example of this type of carrier is
CT Transportation, which specializes in flatbed loads for the construction industry.
Independent Carriers The final type of carrier is an independent. This refers to a
person that owns and operates their own equipment and provides delivery services.
Very often, they are specialists in a specific type of cargo, or load. Most times there
is only one driver and truck, although independents do sometimes band together to
provide more delivery options for

length of the nose. He was found lying on the couch with blood on his shirt. In this
case, his wife was murdered as well. She was murdered in the bedroom by several
hits in the back of the head. The back of her head was hit nineteen times. In
conclusion, the bodies were so damaged that they were at first unrecognizable. Just
because someone is found innocent in court, doesn t give an absolute elimination of
guilt. For example, Lizzie was imprisoned for ten months in Massachusetts. She got
released on her court date because the jury believed her attorney. Now the case is
back in the spotlight due to newly found documents. First thing to remember, the
documents were written by her attorney. He wrote about the situation and the crime...

Influential American People
How people influenced the world: How people influenced the world good and
bad? Well a lot of people did good things to improve society. Like Abraham Lincoln
he overcame many setbacks to become the most influential American President. In
the Gettysburg speech, he inspired the nation with his words and helped to bring
about the ending of slavery. Marie Curie was awarded a Nobel Prize for both
Chemistry and Physics. Her discoveries with radiation helped advance medical
science. She influenced the female world to be whatever you want no matter what it
is. And Despite disability of both deafness and blindness, she learned to read and

The Uk Coaching Framework
The UK Coaching Framework is led by Sports Coach UK. Key partners, such as
Governing Bodies, will act as the lead agencies in implementing the framework
working together with communities, schools and local authorities. The framework
will equip coaches with the necessary skills to support participants at all stages of
their development. Enhancing the quality of coaching will be a fundamental aim of
the framework. The UK Coaching Framework has clearly defined coaching
systems which partners can use as a reference point when developing their own
sport specific coaching systems. The Framework also sets out opportunities for
support, education and continuing professional development in a new long term
coach development system. Another key aim of the UK Coaching Framework is
the professionalisation of coaching as a regulated vocation. The needs of volunteer
and paid coaches will be taken in to account. A continuing practice of research and
development will also be implemented. By 2016, the coaching system in the UK will
be the best in the world. The UK Coaching Framework is the key reference point in
developing this system. All partners will be given the freedom to implement plans
using their own structures and take into account their own priorities, however they

Turing Test Frankenstein
From movies like Ex Machina, and WarGames, to Avengers: Age of Ultron, each
one accurately depicts what will happen to mankind in the case that Artificial
Superintelligence is created; utter destruction and complete decimation. AI is one of
the scariest inventions possible, as they get smarter and smarter every time they are
improved. Eventually, AI is going to become so intelligent that they will be able to
recode themselves in order to become sentient the ability to feel emotions. To
determine if a robot (or AI in this case) is sentient, they must undergo a test known as
The Turing Test . The Turing Test suggests that if the creation is able to identify an
object accurately, then they are sentient alike a human. (Baer 3) There is a... Show

An example for this reasoning would be the constraints: Human intelligence has been
optimized to deal with specific constraints, like passing the head through the birth
canal and calorie conservation, whereas artificial intelligence will operate under
different constraints... (Graves 2) Humans are evolved to deal with certain events,
but AI are simply created there is no birthing process or anything of that matter; so
there is a question: What would their constraints be? Then there is the issue of the
constraints of human intelligence, And trying to build a human like AI system,
without first fully understanding what makes humans tick could make the problem
worse. (Graves 5) In order to create a human like AI, the creators must first
understand what it means to be human, and the extent of human intelligence. If the
creators simply created the being without knowing the constraints of humans, they
would create a monster that, alike Frankenstein s monster, would terrorize the
population. In addition, is the issue of the intellectual advantage the AI would have
over humans. As stated by the source, It is literally inconceivable how much smarter
than a human a computer would be that could do a thousand years of thinking in the
equivalent of a human s day. (Shermer 2) The equivalent of a thousand years of

The Dna And Its Structure
Genes hold biological information that must be copied accurately for transmission to
the next generation. Before the DNA double helix was discovered two biological
question were unanswered: how can information for specifying an organism be
carried in chemical form? and how is it accurately copied? It was not until the 20th
century when the DNAmolecule was discovered and suggested answers to both these
questions. (Alberts B, Johnson A, Lewis J, et al, 2002) With the help of many
scientists we now know exactly what the DNA molecule is, its structure, and its
function. The knowledge gained throughout the years on DNA has allowed many
things such as that of genetic genealogy. Knowing the structure of the DNA is what

This is the molecule that contains the biological instructions that make each
species unique. (Deoxyribonucleic Acid DNA, 2012) Deoxyribonucleic acid
(DNA) is the primary chemical component of chromosomes and is the material of
which genes are made of. It is also referred to as the molecule of heredity. This is
because parents transmit copied portions of their own DNA to their offspring
during reproduction (The DNA Molecule, n.d.). Before completely understanding
DNA it is important to look at the development of the study of DNA throughout the
years and finally look at the structure as well as what this knowledge now allows us
to do. The information of DNA is not something that scientists and others have
always been aware of. The knowledge in which we hold today is somethings that is
a product of multiple studies from multiple people who discovered different
aspects of the molecule. Such explanations of explorations of DNA are possible
because of the many scientists who paved the way. This began almost a century
before the Nobel Prize, in 1868, was awarded to James Watson, Franklin Crick, and
Maurice Wilkins. It was a young Swiss physician Friedrich Miescher who located
something no one had ever seen before from the nuclei of cells. He named this new
found compound nuclei . Today we refer to this as nucleic acid, the NA in DNA.

How Did Leonardo s Art Work
Leonardo s Artwork
I have always been fascinated by the older artists and the pieces of work they did in
their lifetimes. One in particular that always fascinated me was the work of
Leonardo Da Vinci. While Da Vinci was a sort of jack of all trades, what he s most
famous for is the painting of the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
Every age in art had different styles dealing with light and shadow and perspective.
Leonardo was a part of the Renaissance era, when the arts were being reborn.
Leonardo was very meticulous with his artwork. He didn t just pick up the brush and
start painting. He studied the art of lines and how different lines would look. He also
studied different parts of the body such as hands and feet and how the face
General Electric Grievances
In 1892, Thomas Edison and the great powers to be started an Empire. This empire
would live through financial crisis after financial crisis, and it would not just
endure, but it would thrive. Since 1892, General Electric (GE) has done a tad bit
more than mess around with incandescent light bulbs. They are the only remaining
company left from the original Dow Jones Index, and now encompass dozens of
subsidiaries that span the globe. In every definition of the word, they are an
empire. Beginning in the 1970 s the ethical status of a company started to become
relevant, and GE would not be one of the top ethical companies then. Fast forward
almost 45 years, GE is continuously find itself in the running for being one of the
most ethical countries in the world. How did they change their image in such a
relatively short time? In 2001, the Multinational Monitor released over 40
documented grievances against GE, just before CEO Jack Welch s Retirement (The
Case Against GE). Some of these grievances date back to things GE had done since
the 1940s, including nuclear testing on people in the United States. However, some

On the other hand, you could safely justify that companies, as a whole, are moving
to become more ethical. Albeit probably not willingly, companies seem to be
making this move as a result of the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002. In Sarbanes Oxley
(SOX), there are certain provisions for companies regarding their Codes of Ethics.
SOX states: Section 406 requires public companies to disclose whether they have
codes of ethics and also to disclose any waivers of those codes for certain members
of senior management (Navran and Pittman). Now the feet of upper management is
being held a little closer to the fire, and without argument, doing business is a lot
harder because of it when compared to doing business in the 40 s and
Types Of Searches And Seizures
Being able to locate physical evidence from a civilian must be done with some sort
of search and seizure. There are many types of searches and seizures done with or
without a warrant which can be a big factor to case if done correctly. Warrantless
searches have three purposes, the safety of the police officer and seize weapons
from any harm. To also seize weapons from any harm into resisting arrest or to be
able to flee, lastly to prevent the destruction of evidence or concealment. There is
also consent searches where one waives their right to privacy under the Fourth

Thus without these steps of illegal activity and making ones presence be known by

have a direct effect on the body and the mind. Symptomatology, complexity, and risk
factors vary greatly depending on the individual s socioeconomic status (Rush et al.

Democracy Is The Best Form Of Government

Comparative Politics
July 6, 2015
Democratic Utopia It has been said by Sir Winston Churchill that democracy is the
worst form of government except all the others that have been tried. In other words,
democracy is the best form of government for now. But he also implied, that
democracy itself is not flawless, it is only better than all the other political forms. In
fact, there are a lot of problems that democracy is not able to fix. For example, the
balance and the efficiency of government of the state is the most debatable one.
Democracy means that a government is made of the people, by the people and for
the people . People s choices and opinions need to be represented, or else the
existence of democratic institutions will be meaningless. But one cannot burn the
candle at both ends. One could only achieve full representations at the expense of
efficiency. Thus, at what extend to make a choice between representation and
efficiency becomes an obstacle for every democratic government. I personally believe,
that the best political form we can have so far is the democratic institutions of the
United States: Presidential regime type, SMDP electoral system, pluralist for interest
group representation and federal constitutions To start with, a Presidential regime
type contains three branches: a legislative branch, an executive branch and a judicial

the western genre in American cinema became so popular. Western films explored
places that have been explored, which made the audience feel like they are exploring

as how someone should react after saying something. Additionally, westernfilms tend
to display the struggle of good and evil, such a wanted man saving the town from the

Some common pathogens that cause HEENT infections are H. influenzae,
Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Staphyloccoccus aureus. All three pathogens can
cause conjunctivitis, H. influenza and Streptococcus pneumoniae are the main two
pathogens that lead to acute otitis media (AOM), and H. influenzae and
Staphylcoccus aureus are known to cause sinusitis (Cash Glass, 2014). I would
recommend a limited use of antibiotics in treatment of these diseases and other
unconfirmed bacterial illness, due the increase chance of antibiotic resistance.
Symptom management may be all that is required, and most children will improve
without being prescribed antibiotic therapy. Watchful waiting for 48 72 may be the
best choice to allow the patient to improve without antibiotic treatment (Cash Glass,
2014). As providers, getting a whole history of the presenting symptoms and the
duration of the symptoms will lead to better treatment outcomes for the patient.
Antibiotics should only be used in the pediatric population when there is a known
presence of a bacterial infection and the benefits will outweigh the harms of
administering the antibiotic (Murray Amin, 2014). The practice of prescribing
antibiotics when not necessary leads to drug resistance and adverse reactions, which
is a major public health concern in the pediatric population. In the United States, it is
estimated that well over 50 million ineffective and unnecessary antibiotic
prescriptions are written for children each

Comparing Epic Of Gilgamesh, Genesis, And Greek
Mythology
Gilgamesh, Genesis, and Greek mythology all have detailed and very similar
stories that tell of a great flood that wiped most of civilization. Each of the floods
described are very similar detail with slight differences that were most likely different
because of culture. The epic of Gilgamesh tells of Gilgamesh determined to find
immortality since he now fears death after seeing Enkidu die. It is upon this search
that he meets Utnapishtim, the character most like the Biblical Noah. Utnapishtim had
become immortal after building a ship to survive the Great Deluge that had
destroyed mankind. He brought all of his relatives and all species of creatures aboard
the vessel. Utnapishtim released birds to find land, and the ship landed upon a

A few examples would be, both causes of the flood were caused by sin and
wickedness, the flood was meant for all of mankind, both have heroes that built
massive boats, both gathered every specie of animal to store on the boat, both
released birds to figure if the flood was over, and in both stories the ark lands upon a
mountain.
There were however a few slight differences that occurred in the stories, here are a
few of the bigger and more noticeable examples. The first, the one who sent the
message to build the ark in the bible was Yahweh, while in Gilgamesh, it was an
assembly of gods. Along with that, in the bible Noah received his message directly
from God, whereas Utnapishtim was told in a dream. And lastly, by far the biggest
difference, was the number of days that each flood lasted. In the biblical story it
lasted for 40 days and nights, whereas in Gilgamesh it only lasted for 6 days and
Essay on Comparing the Two Versions of To Build a Fire
Comparing the Two Versions of To Build a Fire
I am absolutely confident that beyond the motif itself, there is no similarity of
treatment whatever (544). Jack London, writing in December 1908, was
responding to an inquiry from the Richard W. Gilder, editor of Century Magazine.
Gilder, having just published To Build a Fire in his magazine, was worried when he
came across another version published 6 years earlier. London s explanation was
that the first story was for boys and the new one was for men; the only similarity
being the motif itself. Through careful analysis of the two stories, in light of this
letter to Gilder, and another letter to Cloudesly Johns, it is apparent that although
London claims no similarities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ending more clearly illustrates the dangers of the Klondike. The first version is
more a morality tale, ending with the moral of Never travel alone! (62). The second
version is more of a good short story, with the ending that is, regrettably, all too
common in that part of the world. The main character never gets a chance to change
his ways and travel with a companion the proverbial next time. He learns the lesson
with the most severest of consequences: death. Another interesting difference is the
fact that in the 1902 version the main character is Tom Vincent; however in the
second version, the man has no name. This gives the main character in the 1908
version a feeling of universality.
In 1900, before either of these two stories was published, Jack London wrote a
letter to a good friend, Cloudesly Johns, explaining his philosophy on good fiction
writing. This letter is an invaluable resource when studying the work of Jack
London, especially when comparing the two versions of To Build a Fire. London
emphasized quite a bit in this letter with many exclamation points and capital letters.
That was only because of the passion with which he was writing about writing. His
main point was to not be to scientific, or empirically (530) scientific. He explains not
to tell the reader what your philosophy is, but rather to have the characters tell it by
their deeds, actions, talk, etc. (531). He then moves on to talk about atmosphere, and
La libertad y sus lГmites, historia y problemas modernos
1. IntroducciГіn
libertad individual. La libertad se define como el ... Show more content on

origen divino del poder real, las nuevas teorГas ponГan el fundamento del poder en el
The Last Space Lord
I am number 69, the last of my kind. We were the space lords and there were 70 of
us on earth. We came because the Virus Fang destroyed our planet. We came here
in individual transport no two space lords came together. The way that I made it
here is by a Legof. A Legof is the name of our spaceships back on my planet that
can travel in any atmosphere and disguise itself as anything. The Legof is as living
as I am. Most of us traveled that way, but there were a few of us who knew how to
teleport. Now I am the last one left to save the world from the Virus Fang. I have
been hiding from the monsters that killed most of my brothers. The Virus Fang
search to destroy all life from space lords to humans.
The scars of my dead brethren are split between my two legs. Each of the scars is
engraved with a small picture of which of my brethren it represents, leaving a
memory of those who I have lost in battle. The scars hurt every once in a while. It s
almost like they are still living as a part of me. Some mornings I wake up and the
pain is so unbearable that I actually believe that my brethren are crawling out of the
scars on my leg and coming back to life.
It s morning. It seems almost impossible to get out of my warm, cozy confortable bed
on this seemingly normal morning. But the warm smell of hot cocoa in the air
awakens me filling with happiness and joy. All of my childhood memories of my
mom s delicious hot cocoa. It is almost like I m in one of those human children

The Importance Of Crime On Crime
The lack of police in the city of Detroit can massively impact the crime rate to
immense proportions. In the deterrence theory, crime can be prevented if the
punishment is certain, severe and swift which means quick (Schram Tibbetts, pg. 35).
The reason why people do not commit crimes is not because of some deep moral
reasons but because they fear getting caught and the consequences that come after.
Cesare Baccaria, the father of Criminal Justice, stated that the most important element
of deterrence in ensuring that people would not commit a crimewas the certainty of
being caught. Detroit s police, on the fact that it is undercut suffers heavenly on
individuals avoiding deterrence. Since there are not many figures of authority, an
individual s fear of being caught is lowered and can commit crimes because of it.
The facts do indeed show that Detroit has become one of the most dangerous cities
in the U.S because of the lack of deterrence an individual feels.
Chapter 4. What Were They Thinking? There was a woman in Ohio who illegally
passed a stopped school bus on the road by driving on the side walk. She pleaded
guilty to those actions and the municipal judge sentenced her to hold a sign up that
said, Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus . She was
ordered to carry that sign on the road where the incident happened during rush hour
for a multiple amount of days. The judge s decision in itself is shaming which has
been going on for a while
Options for the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder affecting the body s ability to take up
glucose into the tissues. There are two main classifications; Type 1 is known as
insulin dependent, meaning that the patient s body no longer produces insulin to help
in the uptake of glucose. Type 2 is known as non insulin dependent, these patients
usually have two problems; insulinresistance, the insulin they produce does not work
properly and ОІ cell impairment, their body does not produce enough insulin.2 In
2008 a study showed that of 24 million patients diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in
the United States, 40% of them were 65 years of age or older.1 Patients diagnosed
with diabetes have elevated HbA1C levels of 6.5% or higher. The American Diabetes
Association recommends a target of 7% for most patients3 with diabetes to be
considered controlled. Type 2 Diabetes patients usually begin with monotherapy oral
medication, such as Metformin along with diet and exercise to decrease blood
glucose levels and HbA1C levels. Unfortunately, monotherapy is not effective in
many patients and they soon add a second therapy. A sulfonylurea, such as Glyburide,
is a second line drug in the treatment of diabetes because it enhances insulin secretion
3 unlike metformin which increases insulin sensitivity. 3 A study published in The
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology Metabolism compared the effects of metformin
monotherapy, glyburide monotherapy and glyburide metformin therapy in 486
patients whose

Ethical Dilemma Essays.pdf

  • 1. Ethical Dilemma Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Ethical Dilemma Essays" can be a challenging task, as it requires not only a clear understanding of ethical principles but also the ability to analyze complex situations and navigate through the moral intricacies involved. Crafting such an essay demands a careful balance between presenting the ethical dilemma itself and delving into the ethical theories or frameworks that can be applied to evaluate and resolve the situation. The difficulty arises in identifying a compelling ethical dilemma, one that engages the reader and prompts critical thinking. It's not just about describing a moral quandary but also about exploring the underlying ethical principles, considering alternative courses of action, and evaluating the consequences of each decision. Additionally, maintaining objectivity while expressing personal insights adds another layer of complexity. Furthermore, the writer must communicate the ethical dilemma in a coherent and structured manner, ensuring that the essay follows a logical flow from introduction to conclusion. It requires a nuanced approach to avoid oversimplification of the issue or, conversely, drowning the reader in excessive details. The research involved is often multifaceted, requiring a deep understanding of ethical theories, case studies, and real-world examples. One must be prepared to engage with diverse perspectives and be capable of presenting a well-reasoned argument. In conclusion, writing an essay on ethical dilemmas demands not only a strong command of ethical principles but also excellent analytical and writing skills. It's a challenging endeavor that requires careful consideration, critical thinking, and a commitment to presenting a thoughtful exploration of the topic. If you find yourself struggling with such essays or any other academic writing tasks, there are resources available to provide assistance. • 2. The Importance Of Video Games Video games are generally seen as a waste of time and nothing good can come out of playing them. People usually associate video games with nerds and adults who stay in the basements of their parent s house. With all these negative associations with video games, it is hard to see that video games can actually be helpful and beneficial to an individual s mental and physical health. The negative associations of video games started from the Video gamecrash of 1983. The crash led to bankruptcy of numerous companies that were producing computers and video game consoles. Due to the bankruptcy, the majority of the population believed that working for computer companies and video games would be a waste of time since job security was not high. Presently, both computer and video games companies are successful, but the majority of the population still believes the negative aspect of video games. While it was about job security before, the negativity aspect associated with video games has changed. The big negative aspect associated with gaming is that it is a waste of time and can only negatively affect an individual s mental and physical health. Chris Regal, an author of Health Central who wrote 8 Ways Video Games Are Bad For Your Health, argued that video games increases obesity, increases aggressive behavior, and more likely to become less educated. While these claims can be true, these claims also focus on individuals who have spent the majority of their time playing video games. I can see Regal s conclusion because there are cases that prove that his points. The increase in obesity is true because individuals are more and more of their time playing video games instead of exercising. People believe it increases aggressive behavior because most action games are usually aggressive, but in reality, individuals with high aggressive behavior are usually the ones who play aggressive action games. Individuals are also more likely to be less educated because children who go to school would not focus on studying or doing their homework because they want to play video games more. Since the majority of the population believe these claims, a new derogatory was created to describe gamers which is NEET. NEET is short for Not in
  • 3. Homeless Persuasive Speech The media: a universal instrument that tugs at our deepest and most sensitive thought processes. Yes, you heard correctly; and, here s a news flash for you: these mass manipulators that reign over us are stopping at nothing, even so that the homeless community are being dragged into this opinion filled arena. We, the human population, have been taught that any media outlet such as the newspaper is our go to . Little do we know that this information has been orchestrated to both glorify and vilify people and events. As such, you would believe that the recent issue surrounding the homeless being removed from Melbourne s CBD would simply outline a factually based retelling of events. No, absolutely not. Rather, the so acclaimed factually based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Actually, no. The Guardian has presented this issue in a surprisingly different light, almost explicitly revealing the sheer empathy towards the homeless and their given situation. By placing inverted commas around cleanup in the headline Melbourne city council denies homeless camps cleanup linked to Australian Open , this is implying that it was not in any way a clean up, but rather a pure demolition of their homes. Just below the headline is an image of Flinders Street Station beaming with a vibrant yellow at night time. The Guardian wants these two mediums to radiate with us; to encourage us to still view Melbourne as a very aesthetically pleasing city while denouncing the actions of the council removing the homeless from this glorified urban location. By planting this seed, the Guardian sees this to their advantage, and begins by showing photographs of the homeless camps being rebuilt after the police left. This is complemented by the perspective of former homeless man John Kenney explaining that homelessness is not a choice...the authorities don t care where they end up, just as long as they go . Do you see it? The selection of information is emotively devised to pressure us to empathise with the homeless community; that rebuilding their camps is a sign of growth and the council is the devil for taking that away from
  • 4. Terrorism, The Nuclear Hazard And Black Market In the spectrum of modern international politics the key preeminent threats to security and the sense of freedom from those threats are terrorism, the nuclear hazard and black market in materiel. These three security issues, not only affect national and international security, but also societal and economic security. Terrorism, has maintained the status as a preeminent threat in the modern world today, but has also become a worldwide phenomenon that has impacted not only in the Middle East but also in the Western World alike. Terrorism has rapidly become a increasing security issue as attacks upon innocent non combatants (Howard, L, 1992) have proliferated around the world, and are no longer an occurrence that can be conveniently ignored by society, that can not only undermine and make superpowers appear vulnerable, but instils fear into civilians and governments alike. In addition to these factors, economy expert Kimberly Amadeo surveyed the economic security of the United States after the September 2001 twin tower bombings that killed 2993 and injured 8900 people. Amadeo (2014) found that the 2001 attacks caused the Dow Jones to drop more than 600 points, subsequently leading to the 2001 recession. I remember just a few years ago hearing of people near and far being infected with the swine flu, which is the transmitting of pig influenza into humans. It is also known as swine influenza, pig influenza, or hog flu. This was devastating to hear. Being of a younger generation, this was my first time hearing of something as drastic and severe as this. Monasteries and clergy suffered the greatest loss. The Europeans began to blame God because they had no explanation for the outrage. Priests and bishops could not give answers for what was happening so they abandoned their Christian duties and fled. This caused the monasteries to be run by less educated people, who eventually resigned. As the church weakened, so did the hope of the European people. Animosity between the Christians and Jews arose, art and music became dark and depressed, and people became obsessed with cultural death. • 7. The Importance Of Socioeconomic Status In College Education Applying to college was a compelling and demanding time for me throughout my senior year of High School. However, there was an additional amount of stress I experienced due to the limitations brought on to me from my family s financial struggles. Throughout the college enrollment process, I was disheartened to know that I was incapable of attending certain colleges I preferred due to my lower socioeconomic background. My personal experiences with paying the expensive college tuition cost have impelled me to explore in depth the impact that a college student s socioeconomic status may have on their college enrollment and degree attainment in the United Statesof America. Throughout this essay, I would like to gain insight into why certain socioeconomic backgrounds/statuses in the United States of America have higher rates of college enrollment and degree attainment than others. Specifically, certain races associated with a socioeconomic status. In addition, I will seek attainable solutions for these college students from lower socioeconomic statuses who are struggling with attaining academic success. Before exploring the influence of a college student s parental socioeconomic status on their education, let s first determine the composition of a socioeconomic status and the races associated with a given socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic status is determined by an individual s employment occupation, income, and level of education (Malone). Let s look at various data

However, the next tripplanned arose a new level of anxiety. Until this trip, I have never traveled to a place far from society and slept within the pure darkness of the night. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spring break came faster than I imagined, and we were soon on the road to nowhere. The trip became more nerve racking as we made our last stop with civilization at the park ranger s office. The ranger was very hopeful that we would not run into too many issues within our trip, however, I was not. He made it clear that we must take all bear precautions, even though he attempted to convince us there were no bears in the area. He also made it clear we must find high ground for camp due to weather concerns. Listening to his safety speech made me regret committing to this adventure. After gathering our packs and a map from the office, we approached the first trail. My shoes were tied, my pack was on securely, and I realized what we were actually about to do. The first couple of miles seemed easy because the trail was wide and the elevation was only increasing slowly. By the fourth mile, the trip began to change. My ten year old brother and his friend became tired and the elevation was dramatically increasing. The small wide hills became steep, narrow rocks. Scott took the lead to find safe footwork. This is when I regretted the forty pound backpack. Using Scott s hand and a tree limb I pulled myself up an almost four foot tall rock and then another. I turned around to look back at the rest of the group and realized I was only a couple inches away from falling off an eighteen foot drop.

The conversant Time Warner merged with AOL in 2001. This produced a loss in value to both entities. Since the merger, Time Warnerhas looked at ways to either increase its overall revenue through divesting units or portions of the conglomerate by acquiring other companies to help increase earnings potential. The Director Is The Conductor And The Audience s Feelings In cinematography, as Quentin Tarantino discusses in an interview, the director is the conductor and the audience s feelings are the instrument that directors utilize to evoke emotion. Directors have many tools they use to evoke the viewer s emotions and properly captivate the audience. One of the tools directors use to control the audience, in addition to special effects, is dialogue. Dialogue has the power to push an audience to tears when a character dies, or make them laugh at the same scene with different dialogue between the characters. This dialogue is only possible through the creation of a storyworld where absurd dialogue would be deemed appropriate. This is what makes Quentin Tarantinosuch an effective director, he has mastered the skill of controlling the audience s emotions through establishing a storyworld, and using dialogue with his horrifying scenes. His mastery of evoking emotioncan be seen in many of his films. Most notably in Pulp Fiction, which won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best screenplay. In Pulp Fiction, the viewer finds him or herself in a whirlwind of emotion, laughing in horror at horrendous acts of violence. The emotions that are elicited while watching these intense scenes are possible because of the dialogue Quentin Tarantino uses. Civil Rights in Colored People by Henry Louis Gates Henry Louis Gates admiration and following of great civil rights movement leaders, including his mother, seems to show that he has an optimistic position on history and social change in his book Colored People . Throughout the beginning chapters he is shown growing up noticing the contract between his mother s view and the rest of the Colemans. She would stand up to white people. He admired her spark and vitality, whished to grow up in a world where he can see his mother treated with the respect she deserves. Freedom from the chains of segregation was his goal, most notably his adventures during his college years. He was dating a white girl and was also going to extreme lengths to make sure Piedmont becomes unsegregated. Growing up he sees the flame within his mother diminishing. This occurrence doesn t phase his determination, the contrary; he decides to resurrect his mother s passion. He attempts that by helping his father buy her a house, since she always wanted to own property. He seems to also believe that the arc of history curves, no matter how many curves it takes it, towards justice. He at least did throughout his adolescence years. However, in the big scheme of history, it seems that his view is not as one dimensional as readers would expect. Gate s book reveals to us how history can be ironic in the form of a shocking change of tone in the concluding chapters. He doesn t imply that history is approaching its doom because of our actions, it is simply pointing

When hearing that word, majority of people take it as a series of grade levels or a step closer to college. But little do they realize, who they were in middle school is not the same person they are in high school. Mainly because with middle schooland high school comes many differences and similarities. For example, honor students may have the sample amount of homework, where appearance and friends change throughout the years. With high school and middle school there will be differences. With appearance in middle school it was not the main focus. Students would just go to school in order to get well educated. The dress code the students set for themselves were a basic non brand or off brand polo, with basic jeans and topped off with a pair of champion sneakers that may have cost less than fifty dollars. Also, whatever the parents choose for their children was acceptable only because it did not change who the students were or who they hung out with. However, in high school it makes a high difference on what people chose to wear. It basically categorizes the group of people they hung out with because wearing a middle school inspired outfit could have a student bullied. The reason why that could happen is because not everyone is accepted in high school to every group of students. In high school most of the students have the age requirements to recipients a job. Most of them do have a job, allowing them to

(Alberts B, Johnson A, Lewis J, et al, 2002) With the help of many scientists we now know exactly what the DNA molecule is, its structure, and its function. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the molecule that contains the biological instructions that make each species unique. (Deoxyribonucleic Acid DNA, 2012) Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is the primary chemical component of chromosomes and is the material of which genes are made of. It is also referred to as the molecule of heredity. This is because parents transmit copied portions of their own DNA to their offspring during reproduction (The DNA Molecule, n.d.). Before completely understanding DNA it is important to look at the development of the study of DNA throughout the years and finally look at the structure as well as what this knowledge now allows us to do. The information of DNA is not something that scientists and others have always been aware of. The knowledge in which we hold today is somethings that is a product of multiple studies from multiple people who discovered different aspects of the molecule. Such explanations of explorations of DNA are possible because of the many scientists who paved the way. This began almost a century before the Nobel Prize, in 1868, was awarded to James Watson, Franklin Crick, and Maurice Wilkins. It was a young Swiss physician Friedrich Miescher who located something no one had ever seen before from the nuclei of cells. He named this new found compound nuclei . Today we refer to this as nucleic acid, the NA in DNA. Gregor Mendel, a Czech monk just two

One in particular that always fascinated me was the work of Leonardo Da Vinci. While Da Vinci was a sort of jack of all trades, what he s most famous for is the painting of the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Every age in art had different styles dealing with light and shadow and perspective. Leonardo was a part of the Renaissance era, when the arts were being reborn. Democracy Is The Best Form Of Government Chirong Jiang Justin Rohrer Comparative Politics July 6, 2015 Democratic Utopia It has been said by Sir Winston Churchill that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried. In other words, democracy is the best form of government for now. But he also implied, that democracy itself is not flawless, it is only better than all the other political forms. In fact, there are a lot of problems that democracy is not able to fix. For example, the balance and the efficiency of government of the state is the most debatable one. Democracy means that a government is made of the people, by the people and for the people . People s choices and opinions need to be represented, or else the existence of democratic institutions will be meaningless. But one cannot burn the candle at both ends. One could only achieve full representations at the expense of efficiency. Thus, at what extend to make a choice between representation and efficiency becomes an obstacle for every democratic government. I personally believe, that the best political form we can have so far is the democratic institutions of the United States: Presidential regime type, SMDP electoral system, pluralist for interest group representation and federal constitutions To start with, a Presidential regime type contains three branches: a legislative branch, an executive branch and a judicial branch. Each of these three branches holds different accountability and has separate power from one

All three pathogens can cause conjunctivitis, H. influenza and Streptococcus pneumoniae are the main two pathogens that lead to acute otitis media (AOM), and H. influenzae and Staphylcoccus aureus are known to cause sinusitis (Cash Glass, 2014). In the deterrence theory, crime can be prevented if the punishment is certain, severe and swift which means quick (Schram Tibbetts, pg. 35). The reason why people do not commit crimes is not because of some deep moral reasons but because they fear getting caught and the consequences that come after. Cesare Baccaria, the father of Criminal Justice, stated that the most important element of deterrence in ensuring that people would not commit a crimewas the certainty of being caught. Detroit s police, on the fact that it is undercut suffers heavenly on individuals avoiding deterrence. Since there are not many figures of authority, an individual s fear of being caught is lowered and can commit crimes because of it. Type 2 is known as non insulin dependent, these patients usually have two problems; insulinresistance, the insulin they produce does not work properly and ОІ cell impairment, their body does not produce enough insulin.2 In 2008 a study showed that of 24 million patients diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in the United States, 40% of them were 65 years of age or older.1 Patients diagnosed with diabetes have elevated HbA1C levels of 6.5% or higher.
