Professor Mitra Biography
Professor Raka Mitra is a cell biologist in the Department of Biology here at Carleton College.
She is a Minnesota native and graduate from Robinsdale Armstrong High School, which is a
public high school northwest of the Twin Cities. She credits her high school s flexible
curriculum in providing her the foundation she needed to pursue a career in science, in addition
to the strong support she had from her family, who wished her well and gave her independence
in her academic and career decisions; her female friend group, whom she grew up and became
valedictorian with; and her dance team, which instilled confidence in her. Growing up, Professor
Mitra was inclined to most of the sciences with the exception of chemistry but it wasn t until her
10th grade AP biology class that she felt a stronger inclination towards a particular field in STEM.
It was during the unorthodox instruction she received from her AP biology teacher in which he
would encourage innovation and critical thinking by having her and her fellow classmates answer
problem sets with a library of science textbooks, and in which he would assign oral biology... Show

Professor Mitra emphasizes on how science is ever changing and how major leaps in knowledge
are made regularly. She believes the today s advancements in genome sequencing and Clustered
Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) technology will dramatically change
the field of cellular and molecular biology moving forward. On a smaller scale, she believes the
focus that some of the biologist, including herself, make on mastering mechanisms and disease in
easy to study systems will eventually equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to leverage
them to more complicated systems, which will allow them to solve agricultural problems, such as
determining what causes pathogens to affect plants at the roots and reduce food

Roman Republic Vs Roman Kingdom
In the reading assignment, I have learned so many differences between the two classes in the
Roman societies that lead to so many revolts. After I finished reading the documents, I realized
that those revolts also made Rome became the strong power that it was. And I imagine that if
there were some people like that in some societies, there would be more progress in those
societies. We have to be clear that the Roman society that I m talking about is the Roman
Republic and not the Roman Kingdom. The differences between those two are that the Roman
Kingdom had a Monarch government that means it was ruled by a king while the Roman
Republic was a free government. To be honest with you, I don t really understand the type of
government that the Roman Republic had because in some times, dictators were appointed,
Senators were elected, and there were also popular assemblies. So, I don t really know this type
of government. As a free government, it is clear that people who are wealthy and had more
power would be more benefit in everything. I can qualify those people as the aristocrats. They
would group themselves to form a group of leaders to rule over the Republic. Here came the
creation of the two classes and the struggle between them. All over the world and... Show more

But, with their revolts, they obtained the same rights as the Patricians. There is one thing that keeps
my attention after I finished reading about the political equality of the Roman Republic. The
division between the two classes had caused the destruction of Rome by the Gaul and the Veil. The
differences made it weak and unprotected. References: William C. Morey. (1901). The Struggle for

Benefits Of A Good Dentist
When I was six years old, I needed to have a tooth pulled. The dentist had my father leave the
room, then, as I kicked and screamed and fought, he proceeded to restrain me with one hand,
while he held a black anesthesia mask over my face with the other. I woke up with a mouth full
of bloody gauze and an intense fear of dentists. For many people, finding a good dentist is a hard
task because of past bad experiences. I often tell people that I d rather give birth than go to the
dentist. Since I have seven kids, born naturally, I know from which I speak. I also know that it is
possible to find a great dentist, and while I am largely over my phobia, I would have no
compunction about switching dentists if I felt that the one I was seeing did... Show more content on

A Good Dentist Will Help You Heal A good dentist will do everything in her power to make
certain that you heal, not only from your procedure, but from your past. She will nurture you as
you come to trust in her ability, caring about your personal experience as much as she cares
about your teeth. A good dentist is worth his weight in gold teeth. Ask friends you trust for
recommendations, and remember that, since you are paying him, you are the boss. If you do
not feel at home with one dentist, keep looking until you find a good fit so that you are not left
worrying about good fitting dentures in the future. Conquer Your Fear of the Dentist http:/

dentist and hope it would help you, too. 1. Get a doctor who is close to where you stay You
never know when you may need to see the dentist and at what time of the day. Getting a dentist
close to where stay or work would be more convenient for you. You wouldn t need to go far off to
see a dentist....Especially when you are in a great deal of pain. 2. Consult with your friends as to

Angela s Ashes Modernism Essay
Modernism took place in the late 19th century and early 20th century, more specifically the years
following World War I ( Modernism in literature 1). The novel Angela s Ashes, written in 1996, is
considered a work of modernism. Writers often talked about historical events, due (feeling) that they
were at the end of history. ( Modernism504).
Writers of this time period were heavily influenced by the war, and the political events going on.
Major writers were; T.S. Eliot, William Faulkner, James Joyce, Ezra Pound, and others. All of their
writings incorporated accurate portrayals of the world through experience and interior monologue (
Modernism 504) and did not write about the new technology developing around them ( Modernism
501).

Strengths-Based Practices
Introduction At the point when a person s mental wellbeing is tested, holding on to hope and self
conviction can be exceptionally troublesome. Care scaffold around strength and recovery approach
is crucial, and this is the theme for this essay. This paper examines the part of strengths in recovery
and strengths based practice. Strengths based practice is a paradigm shift in mental health and has
been made real broadly in the outline and conveyance of administration in New Zealand. The idea
of recovery is indispensable to strengths based practice. Incorporating the conviction that individuals
with mental health issues have resilience and other innate assets which can be intensified and used
to encourage their recovery journey. The personal information... Show more content on

The scientific method goes hand in hand with Psychology. Psychology is professionals trying to
understand how their patients think, develop, understand, and their outcomes in certain situations.
The scientific method is somewhat an organization to solving your problem and trying to
understand what is happening.
Scientific Method and Psychology
Psychology dates back to the late 1800 s. Wilheim Wendt was the first to develop a psychology lab
where the scientific method was used. The first to start using the scientific method in psychology

Tea Kettle Failure
Nevertheless, their attempts to cool the reactor failed due to a malfunctioned cooling system that
had a possible blockage in the water supply piping or a valve failure. The temperature and
pressure inside the reactor began to rise uncontrollably in a runaway chemical reaction. Inside the
reactor the pressure was still, increasing reaching 400 pounds per square inch and boosting the
rupture disc. A good example of what was happening is to compare it to a tea kettle on the stove.
As steam and heats up within the kettle, it looks for an opening to relieve pressure. When the steam
finds that opening it begins to make the whistling sound which gets louder and louder as the water
continues to heatup and the steam escapes the kettle more quickly.

Natural Law Vs Divine Command Theory
The Theory of Natural Law, may be define in three aspects, there being a natural order in the world,
everything having a purpose and how things are and how things ought to be. This theory also states
that humans can distinguish between what is right or wrong through human reason/moral
knowledge. On the other hand, the Divine Command Theory is a view of moralityand states that
what s right or wrong is set by Gods moralcommands. God s commands tell us what is morally
obligatory, permitted and wrong.
The Natural Law tells that humans have a moral knowledge/reason that makes us able to decide
what s right. This has caused various debates on whether people did the right because it was the
right thing to do or because that s what God commands. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, not all the Ten Commandants are easy to follow or even go with the time we are
living in. One of the Ten Commandants states that we should not take the name of the Lord in
vain, yet today the Lord s name it s something we say on a daily basis. In addition, religious
followers may decide to act in a harmful or negative way in society and defend themselves by
saying that God has command them to do it; which may lead to extreme religions, where its
followers may take every word of the book to heart and try to carry out those views on their
society. This theory makes us question on whether who came first, God or right, which I believe
that right came first. When comparing the Divine Command with the Minimum Conception, it
can be deduced that both are very differing from each other. One of the reasons is that with the
Divine Command, God chooses for us what it s right or wrong and if it became a moral system,
atheists will feel out of place because they have a different set of believe just like other religions.
In conclusion, while both the Natural Law Theory and the Divine Command Theory have
aspects that I don t agree on, both brought interesting ways to look at the world and the origin of
our morals. Personally, I agree more with the Natural Law, since I believe that people do act on
moral knowledge and the world has a natural order. Both theories showed me the various ways
people may think about God and what s

Global Sleep Cycle
Sleep Function: Global and Local Regulation of Sleep Cycles
IntroductionSleep is commonly referred to as a global state, one which engages the entire nervous
system. The states of sleep and wakefulness are highly interconnected and share common
physiological mechanisms; however, there are distinct differences in the neurochemical pathways
that underlie them. The notion that sleep is a global state is supported by evidence that the
interrelated states of sleep and wakefulness engage a multitude of neuronal pathways and
components. These networks of neuronal transmitters and receptors extend throughout the brain;
from the brainstem to the basal forebrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, and cerebral cortex. The onset
of sleep and wakefulness is known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During states of arousal and wakefulness, information is encoded in the neocortical and
hippocampal networks in the form of memories (Frankland et al., 2005). The networks that are
activated during wakefulness are subsequently reactivated during SWS via SWA, which leads to
synaptic downscaling and memory consolidation. A study conducted by Peigneux and colleagues
(2004) provided evidence that presents a positive association between improvement in post sleep
retrieval activity performance and the amount of hippocampal SWA that an individual experiences
during SWS. This study suggests a correlation between the reactivation of wake active neuronal
networks via SWA and memory improvement during SWS. In addition to the overnight evaluation
of memory consolidation, short term evaluation of memory across the first day, which included a
90 minute sleep period between training and performance of the retrieval activity, also
demonstrated a positive correlation between the amount of SWA that occurred during the sleep
period and the success of the retrieval activity performance (Peigneux et al., 2004). Moreover, a
study conducted by Marshall and colleagues (2004), also examined the manipulation of memory
consolidation during sleep and found a positive association between hippocampal SWA and the
performance of a

Tradeoffs Between Relational and Object-Oriented Database...
Discuss the tradeoffs between relational and object oriented database management systems
1) Stating Position
The object oriented DBMS is superior to the relational database on some specific counts,
primarily because it can satisfy the complex demands of the market today better than the any
other. Secondly while the relational data base stores data as tables, the object model stores data as
objects and creates associations. This can create a multiple set of attributes for each object such
that the data base is more flexible to the requirements that may be housed for different sets of data
having both similar and dissimilar characteristics. The paradigms then are developed for each set of
common characteristics and unique characteristics of the objects which is not possible in a
relational database that has a very rigid structure. (Bruegge, 2004)
Earlier the heterogeneous systems integration is a major issue. Therefore it has to be considered if
the system proposed is amenable to multiple platforms and will give the same results. There are
many applications available to enforce this, but it is to be borne in mind that in a data management
system many components have to be integrated with the system and the layering of these
components becomes critical. (Thuraisingham, 2001) But the requirements today have gone
beyond the traditional DBMS and the system is expected too seamlessly perform varied functions
like tracking functions, data analysis and reporting, vendor

selection of multi wavelet transform.[19]Mirajkar Pradnya P. and Sachin D. Ruikar have proposed
an image fusion approach based on stationary wavelet transform. This method is firstly applied with

Reason For European Imperialism
Imperialism, a policy in which one country seeks authority over another country by economic and
political domination. The Europeans at this time in history, were looking for resources and
something to help them show their national pride; the best way to do that was to imperialize
different countries. Africa, which was not industrialized, was seen as not capable to lead
themselves into modernization. The europeans as well as many other countries began to seek land
in the divided, war filled country. The reasons for europeans seeking imperialismis because of the
strive for natural resources, the need to show national pride, and thoughts upon racism.

An empire such as Britain requires an imperial race (Primrose). People from all over saw how
different people and cultures came from all over the world which create hate and a variety of
disapproval for others. African people were seen as hated, uncivilized people only because, they
had so many different cultures and different ways of living. If Africa was to be industrialized
before other countries came it would have been seen as a land that is respected because the
people who live in it are capable of industrialization. But because the land was not industrialized
before imperialism racism became a strong attacking point upon the uncivilized. France went with
a fully developed race into territories marked by barbarism and people who cannot develop their
own land (Merlin). France in this description sees themselves as superior to the Africans because,
they do not have fighting within their country and they are industrialized. Without their ability to
come together as a country and grow an economy France would be another Africa. Racism drove
France to come to Africa and show their superiority over them. Racism was a large reason for
imperialism.
Africa was a resource rich, divided, different country. Every country that took a part in Africa s
imperialism saw this matter and took advantage. If Africa had time to figure out how to develop an
economy, unify with each other, and industrialize itself; imperialism from other countries would

The Smartest Guys Of The Room
After viewing The smartest guys in the room , it is readily apparent that once this company
stepped off the path it was doomed to self destruction. The charismatic leadership of Ken Lay and
Jeff Skilling was a mitigating factor, propelling this company to epic proportions prior to its
demise. The PRC and trading area, made an environment that pushed social facilitation and social
learning theory to the limits. The focus of the company was to implement conceptual ideas and to
garner immediate profits. The employees became disciples of Lay and Skilling and saw only results

The leaders were using a goal and rewards based system to encourage the maximum potential of
the traders. Conceptually this was successful, however in the State of California s power
deregulation, it was an ethical abomination. The traders used every loop hole imaginable to profit,
including rolling blackouts and power plant shut downs. Raising the price of power even thought
there was power for everyone, only its manipulation fed the traders ego s and Enron s bottom line.
This atmosphere of someone is always watch and evaluating you and your performance level leads
to social facilitation. Everyone wants to do their absolute best when they know that the boss is

individual. Teamwork was seemingly not embraced but rather the concept of self edification
through wealth as the ultimate goal.
Once the charismatic leadership of Skilling had promoted conformity among the employees. The

The Cult Of Masculinity
The cult of masculinity. When it comes to the big screen, women are treated like second class
citizens. Women were portrayed as helpless creatures, waiting in the castle for their Prince
Charming whereas men were dauntless, swooping the Princess of her feet and saving the day.
This gender gap came to an end when The Hunger Games (2012) was released in theaters. The
brave Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) did what no real man or Prince could ever do stand
up for someone else even when it meant risking her own life. The Hunger Games was not only
one of the top grossing movies of the year, but it was also one of the very few movies where a
woman was able to display her stability and willingness to fight. The Hunger Games, Divergent,
and Gravity are some of the few movies that show a women s potential than to sit in a castle.
They all show three common characteristics for the roles of women: courage, personality, and
recognition. May the odd be ever in your favor. Those were some of the last words Katniss had
heard before her sister s name was called out for the seventy fourth Hunger Games. Without
thinking about anyone else, Katniss bravely accepted her sister s spot in the games; a suicide

Pseudo DC link based multi stage inverter topology is proposed in [26], shown in fig.6, in which
DC link is replaced with a pseudo DC link shown in fig.3(b). As dc link is eliminated in this
topology leads to lesser cost, size and volume compared to previous topologies and almost same
reliability compared to the previous topology. However, this topology is suffering from poor
power decoupling and more harmonic content compared to previous topologies. Common
remarks on DC AC DC AC Topologies: Topologies discussed from fig.4 6 have a high frequency

This type of power conversion scheme generally preferred in most of the PV systems, called
Two Stage Power Conversion Systems (TSPCS)[28 29]. To enhance the design flexibility and
power conversion ratio as well as energy harvesting capabilities, the dedicated dc dc power
converter must be placed between PV module and inverter as shown in Fig.2. The main
difference between dc ac dc ac and dc dc ac power conversion scheme is, the isolated converter is
employed in the first method whereas non isolated dc dc converter is employed in the second
method. Boost, Buck Boost, SEPIC and Cuk converters are widely preferred for developing this
TSPCSs. A simple TSPCS based on dc dc boost converter fed Half Bridge Inverter (HBI) and
Full Bridge Inverter (FBI) is shown in Fig.8 [28] and Fig.9 [29] respectively. They are treated as
a conventional two stage solutions for solar PV applications. In the case of half bridge topology,
dc link is established through the two equal capacitors. These two capacitors act as a three
terminal dc supply to the half bridge inverter, which converts dc to ac power. Which is then,
processed through the filter before feeding to load. In this case, only half of the boost converter
voltage is converted into ac. However, in the case of FBI based TSPCS, the full output voltage of
boost converter is converted into ac. This means that more output

Film Crash Meaning
The title of this film, Crash (2004), is significant in at least four different ways. The most obvious
meaning is mentioned in the opening scene where Detective Graham Waters says We think we
miss that touch so much, we crash into each other just to feel something. Detective Waters is
referring to the hundreds of crashes that occur in Los Angles every day that he believes people
need to feel alive. Cars and car crashes are major plot devices that are used in this movie to cause
people to meet each other. Another significance of the title is a crashing of cultures. The filmfollows

While every moment of grace was important, some were more meaningful than others. My
personal favorite moment of grace was when Officer John Ryan saved Christine Thayer from a
burning car that was about to explode. The night before, the Thayer family was pulled over
because the police were looking for a black Lincoln Navigator that was similar to the car they
were driving. Unfortunately, the family was pulled over my Officer Ryan who was very racist
and power hungry. Mrs. Thayer became very angry during the stop which led to Officer Ryan to
fondling her to show that he had the power to do so. When Mrs. Thayer saw that she was going
to be saved by Officer Ryan the next day under the car, she screamed and didn t want him to
touch her. Right before the car ignited, a fellow officer tried to pull Officer Ryan out to save
him, but he refused and crawled back under the car to save Mrs. Thayer. In true Hollywood
fashion, the car exploded as soon as Mrs. Thayer escaped. I think this was the best moment of
grace because all through the film, the viewer hates Officer Ryan for the unspeakable acts that he
does and yet he is still viewed as a hero after risking his life for someone

The Negative Effects Of Art Therapy On Older Adults
Imagine receiving therapeutic treatment through painting, drawing, photography, music, acting,
dancing, or any other form of creative expression. Therapeutic art has been shown to have power
and influence on emotional and developmental states of individuals (Paskaleva Uzunova, 2015). In
their professional paper, researchers Paskaleva and Uzunova discuss multiple benefits of art therapy
on the body and mind. In particular, the knowledge that art acts as a non verbal communication of
inner selves, and that it has evidence of increased emotional states, moods, and ideas is of great
interest. Also, the finding that there is no significant restrictions on the positive effects of art
therapy when considering age, gender, or education level, is promising due to the possibility of far
reaching effects on a wide variety of people (Paskaleva Uzunova, 2015). This statement allows for
the realization that older adults, no matter the age, can benefit from therapeutic art interventions.
Certain research looks specifically at the effects of art therapy on older adults cognition,
improvements in dementia patients states, the decrease in symptoms for older adults suffering from
depression, and the improvement of quality of life through art intervention; from these studies, one
can begin to theorize that the lives of the elderly can be changed for the better through art.
Cognitive preservation is one of the main concern for older adults. According to Pike (2013) when

My Life Would Suck Without You is a catchy, upbeat, and fast tempo song. Baylee Baxter and I
have grown up together since we were two. We were neighbors in the neighborhood behind the
high school. We spent every single day, it seemed like, together playing games, watching movies, or
riding bikes. No matter what the weather was, what timeit was, or who we were with; we always
found fun things to do. One of our favorite things to do together was to sing and dance. We were
constantly making up dances to songs that were on, movies or that we heard on the radio. We

No matter how hard someone tried, there was no separating us. Ever since the day, we watch
Finn and Rachel perform My Life Would Suck Without You we fell in love with the song. We
would have concerts in our basements where we belted out the lyrics and danced. On every car

function, In a Stage 1 organization the operation is considered as a necessary evil . The other
functions, if they have anything to say at all about operations, regard it as holding them back
from competing effectively. The operations function, they would say, is inward looking and at
best reactive. It certainly has very little positive to contribute towards competitive success. It is
unlikely even to have developed its resources so as to be appropriate for the company s
competitive position. The best that the function can hope for is to be ignored. At least when
operations are being ignored it is not holding the company back in any way. Certainly the rest of
the organization would not look to operations as the source of any originality, flair or competitive
drive. In effect the operations function is aspiring only to reach the minimum acceptable standards
implied by the rest of the organization. It is trying to be internally neutral , a position it attempts to
achieve not by anything positive but by avoiding the bigger mistakes. Certainly even when good
organizations are let down by their operations function the resulting publicity can be damaging.

The Olympic Games During The Cold War
The Olympic Games has been a lens through which to scrutinize the world s political, social, and
economic spectacles. It has seen tsarist autocracy, fascism, despotism, and the great associated
movements of the political solidity and contrariety of communism and capitalism. During the Cold
War, sport was a sphere in which the USSR and the West competed bitterly. Following World War
II, the Soviet Unionutilized the Olympics to assure the world of its superiority and to prove
communism s stability as a political ideology. Purportedly amateur, sport meant a lot to Soviet
authorities, as did awards and gold medals. Athletes often spent most of their time training in world
class facilities, even though they were meant to be factory workers or army officers. From 1950 to
1980, the United Statesexploited the Games as a platform to undertake a propaganda operation
against communism, releasing an abundance of material to promote American ideals. On February
22, 1980, in Lake Placid, New York at the XII Winter Olympics, one unlikely hockey game served
as a catalyst for newfound patriotism in America and marked the commencement of a new era in
Soviet and American Cold Warpolitics. The tensions between the United States and the U.S.S.R

Depth of contaminants may limit some types of application processes. The material used to

long term monitoring is crucial. For long term compatibility, each application must be carefully

Codependency in Samuel Beckett s Endgame Essay
Codependency in Samuel Beckett s Endgame
Clov asks, What is there to keep us here? Hamm answers, The dialogue. In the play Endgame,
Samuel Beckett demonstrates dramatically the idea of codependency between the two focal
characters who rely on each other to fulfill their own physical and psychological needs. Beckett
accomplishes this through Hamm, who assumes the identity of a kingly figure, and his relationship
with Clov, who acts as his subject. In Endgame, this idea is established by tone and humor in the
dialogue amid Hamm and Clov.

and later an M.A. in Romance languages. Beckett moved to Paris, France, where began his
writing career. It was here that he developed and perfected his absurdist style, and began to write
novels and plays alike with his bleak outlook on the core of human existence. His literature
ultimately sought to expose this concept of a wretched solitary self which was representative of
quite literally nothingness. (Encarta) Beckett created four major works including; his trilogy
Molloy (1951), Malone Dies (1951), and The Unnamable (1953), novels that he considered his
greatest achievements; and the play, Waiting for Godot (1952) which critics acclaim as his
masterpiece. He also won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969. Samuel Beckett s writings were a
reflection of his mastery of the written word, and laid the foundations of a long continuance of the
absurdist tradition.
In Antony Easthope s article he remarks on Hamm and Clov s relationship in the play and
analyzes Beckett s dramatic method. Easthope s explanation of Endgame s plot is focused
around one pivotal question: Will Clov leave Hamm? Thus, he asserts that there is no resolution,
as the play ends with Clov standing in front of the door, all packed to go, but unable to leave.
Therefore, to be able to recognize Beckett s dramatic method he states that it becomes necessary to
look at Hamm and Clovs relationship, from which it arises. Easthope believes that Clov is only a
pawn dominated by Hamm s active

Gladiator by Ridly Scott Essay
Gladiator by Ridly Scott
I am going to watch the film Gladiator by Ridly Scott. I hope to accurately describe and analyse
how the director creates a feeling of tension, suspense and how overall he makes the film
believable. I will not analyse the whole film, but just two of the scenes. The two scenes I have
chosen are the first scene the battle of Germania and the last scene the death of the evil Emperor.
======================================================================
The points I am most likely to focus on are the camera angles, sound effects, music, the acting and
the shots, also I will describe how the two scenes were made to be realistic with the aid of

The emperor is very impressed with his performance and arranges to meet him. When asked to
remove his mask and helmet Maximus turns his back on the emperor, the emperor was given the
choice to kill him there and then but he declined so as to keep his popularity with the crowed.
Maximus tries to escape but the emperor captures him and challenges Maximus to a fight. The
emperor cheats in this fight by stabbing Maximus with a poison dagger before. In the end both
Maximus and the emperor die in battle.
I will now analyse the first scene in the film, the battle of Germania. In this scene Rome battles
against the barbarians of Germania. The scene and film starts with blurb that helps set the scene
and draw the viewer in to the plot of the film. The blurb fades away as harmony music fades in and
we, the viewers, are shown an extreme close up of Maximus s hand sweeping through the grass.
The colour is very bright, and the music promotes happiness in the viewers mind. This small
section of the film is his thoughts of home, the harmony music which plays has a very important
role throughout the film when ever Maximus is thinking about home to drive him self on that
music is played. And the first part of the first scene links the music with home for the viewer
because it is the first thing in the film that you hear.
Suddenly the director chooses to have a huge contrast, the

Salmon Facts
Salmon Fish Facts.
Various species of salmon span from Alaska and to the Pacific Ocean, with each species
reproducing in the same fascinating way. The uncommonly high amount of omega 3 fatty acids
found in salmon make it a popular nutritional choice for good health. While there s been an increase
in demand for salmon, there s been a subsequent decrease in the wild salmon population; in an
effort to reverse this decrease, salmon farms were created and now account for the majority of the
world s salmon.
Facts About Salmon
The Pacific Ocean houses the majority of wild salmon, including the Cherry salmon and the group
of fish known as the Alaskan salmon which consists of: the Chinook salmon, the largest of all the
Pacific salmon; the Chum, sometimes known as the dog salmon; the Coho salmon, or silver
salmon; the Pink salmon, the smallest of all the Pacific salmon; and the Sockeye, also known as the
Red or the Blueback, salmon. The other two species of salmon include the Atlantic salmon, the only

Propaganda And Doublespeak And The World Of Doublespeak
The language of propaganda and doublespeak have an extended history, going back to the earliest
civilizations. Propaganda and doublespeak are the use of verbal exchange to have an impact on the
emotions, attitudes, and opinions of human beings. To try to get them to approve on a particular
political, religious, or economic point of view, or even to start a war. It is suspicious manipulation
of the opinions of the societies to a large extent by their government. In the effort to manage the
nation s thought process, the government has used the language of mass propagandaand
doublespeak for selling war.
In the essay, Propaganda: How Not to be Bamboozled, and The World of Doublespeak, both
writers discuss and explains the unusual types of propaganda and the misleading types of
doublespeak. First, Donna Woolfolk Cross labels the structures and the detailed methods
propaganda presented in our day by day life, and how to avoid being tricked. Also Cross thinks
that it is important for people in a democratic society to be well knowledgeable about propaganda
due to how people get manipulated into simply doing something except thinking. Additionally,
Cross explains for us as readers the different sorts of propaganda and how we view the topics in a
positive way. She highlights in her essay that propaganda is not continually negative; however, it
also used in significant ways. Cross presents in her essay that there are thirteen different types of

Andragogy In The Military Essay
Andragogy in the Military Andragogy is the study of the art and science of how adults learn
(Reischmann, 2000). The military is comprised of adults that must be constantly trained to the
highest of proficiencies in combat and non combat supporting roles. In the military, the personnel
responsible for conducting training are noncommissioned officers, which are soldiers between the
ranks of corporal and sergeant major. Noncommissioned officers must know their soldiers and be
able to train them to the high levels of efficiency required to successfully conduct their missions.
Noncommissioned officers must practice and use andragogyregularly to continue training junior
soldiers. There are four definitions of the term adult: biological, legal, social, and psychological.
The biological definition of an adult is the age in which people can reproduce. The legal
definition of an adult is when a person is able to vote, get a driver s license, marry without
consent, etc. The social definition of an adult is the age at which people start performing adult
roles in society, such as a full time worker, spouse, parent, or voting citizen. The psychological
definition, the most obscure definition, is when a person arrives at a self concept and become
responsible for their life (Knowles, Holton Swanson, 2012). The ages in which one could be
considered an adult is very broad with these definitions; however, every soldiermeets at least three
of the four definitions. The first

Examples Of Parody In Dr Strangelove
Dr.Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is a film about what
could happen if the wrong person pushed the button , It mocks Cold War fears of a nuclear battle
between the Soviet Union and the United States. Kubrick s intension for the movie is to deliver his
viewpoint on vague the American conflict with Russia. The whole point of the Cold Warwas to
shock the opposing country into submission by building a stronger nuclear powered program and
intimidating them by saying the Americans will put it to use. This fear is the base of Kubrick s
film, and is included when the President is eager to let one of the Air Force s bombers be ruined,
killing its crew members, to prevent Russia s Doomsday Machine from going off and sending the
world into a nuclear winter. Kubrick felt that this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most perceptible case of this is through the choice of names for his characters. These
characters are all male, military characters whose names convey some sort of sexual innuendo or
meaning with them. One example of how he uses sexual parody is in the beginning of the movie,
the opening credit plays over film of a bomber aircraft being refueled in mid air during flight. The
connection between the two planes is the first symbols that connect sexuality to the military
mentality that continues reproduces war around the world. Another example is Ripper s Cigar that
represents the world nuclear destruction directly because of his sexual dysfunction, which he faults
upon a conspiracy due to this paranoia about socialists. The cigar is a traditional Freudian phallic
representation and the limp quality of Ripper s stogie represents the flaccid state of not just his
sexuality, but also his mind. Kubrick produces an anti war satire that covertly conveys the
importance of sexual expression while hilariously depicting the unimportance of war and
destructiveness that ravaged the saneness of the 1960s American

Common Crimes In America
Crime is bad; it cannot be prevented nor ignored. Crime is everywhere we look. There is crime in
cities, states, and countries. People have many different motives and reasons for committing crimes.
A couple reasons include drugs, mental disorder, racism, poverty, and TV violence. About 360
crimes were reported in 2013. The top three common crimesin America include burglary, vehicle
theft, and aggravated assault. This essay will go over the different crimes and how everyone can
prevent them.

crime. How can we prevent burglary around the world? There are many steps a person can take to

Aggravated assault is someone attempting to cause serious injury to someone on purpose to cause
pain. In 2011, there were an estimated 751,131 aggravated assaults in the nation. I think that if you
don t want to get assaulted you shouldn t tempt the criminal. Everyone should always be prepared
for assault even if you don t suspect anything. Aggravated assault can happen any place and any
time even in your own home. What can we do? I think that we can purchase stronger security
systems, for example, have doors that make loud beeping sounds when they suspect someone
breaking in. I think everyone should have weapons to protect themselves in their house and on

Glial Cells In The Nervous System
What is a glial cell? Glial cell border neurons and provide support for insulation between them.
Glial cells are the most abundant cell types in the central nervous system. Types of glial cells
include oligodendrocytes, astrocytes, ependymal cells, and satellite cells. The glial cells lie
between the nerve cells and encircle the blood vessels. There are at least as many glial cells as
there are nerve cells in the brain. Twenty years ago many scientists believed, glial cells were
considered minor players in the nervous system; even though they outnumber neurons. Glial was
thought to work as passive support cells. Glial cells carried nutrients to and removing wastes from
the neurons. While the latter carried out the critical nervous system functions

How Planning A Program Has Brought Me
This paper gives me the chance to look back and reflect on what knowledge developing this
program has brought me. Program planning, is something that has always fascinated me. I
thoroughly enjoyed learning more about what are important aspects of planning a program. What
was truly great about this experience was the idea that we would be helping others. I will discuss
what I have learned from developing the program to the conclusion of the event. Furthermore, I
will talk about what I can do differently the next time I am apart of a group that is planning a
program. Also, there will be sections about what I would change for futureprograms or what I can
take away from the planning of this specific program.
Highlight items you learned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In regards to communication between groups, being apart of the finance group we had difficulties
obtaining the final budgets from each group. Even when we told the leaders to remind all the
groups that we need their updated budgets we still had issues with receiving them. Another
challenge that we had was deciding on a theme. I feel that it took as a large chunk of planning
time just deciding on what we wanted to do. If we would have established a theme in the
beginning of the planning, we could have had more time making decorations or props rather than
doing them the night before. This may have reduced the stress levels. Additionally, it would have
been nice to have an increase in numbers. Understanding that this was the first time putting on the
event it is hard to get a large crowd to come. There might have been a chance to have an increase
in numbers if there was more time to get the word out and we tried to have each staff member
bring one person.
What you would do differently as an individual and as a group next time you plan an event
/program There are a number of things that I would have done differently based on my group and
individual participation. For example, our group didn t have the best communication. There were
times were myself and another group member didn t know what was going on in terms of the budget
and the program

Central Nervous System Research Paper
The central nervous system (CNS) controls the majority of function in the body and mind. It built
up in two parts: the brain and the spinal cord. The brain is the centre of our thoughts, control our
external environment, and the basis of control over body movement. Its takes information from
our eyes by looking , ears by sound, nose by smell , tongue by tasting, and skin by touch the object
also its looks after our internal organs such as the stomach. A reflex is the simplest, and easy way
for activity in the nervous system. It is an automatic, involuntary, unthinking response to a stimulus.
The reflex arc are the neurons that form the path of the impulses of a reflex. Examples of reflex
actions are breathing, eye blinking also moving away... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
flame on that diagram. When we move our finger away from a flame we are taking out the reflex.
These are the steps of this reflex are below:
1.The finger is the receptor by touching out the flame. It contains sensory neurons.
2.Sensory neurons carry response quickly to the sensory nerves in the dorsal root.
3.An interneuron carries the impulse through the spinal cord to the motor neurons in the ventral
root. However, on the same time, another neuron takes the impulse to the brain to solve the problem.
4.The motor neurons take the impulse to the effector which is muscle and then the finger got
response to take the hand away from the flame. On the same time, the impulse reaches the brain
and we are alert of the pain.
The nervous system allows the animal to quickly detect, communicate information about its
external and internal environment. There are two major parts of our nervous system are the central
nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS).
The CNS is made of the brain and spinal cord.
The cranial nerves, spinal nerves and ganglia make up the PNS. The cranial nerves connect to the
brain. The cranial and spinal nerves contain the axons (fibres) of sensory and motor nerve

problem. What did you contribute toward resolving or easing the problem? N/A for this week
2. Provide an example of an incident during clinical that reinforced the theory you have learned in
OB lectures.
An incident that reinforced what I have learned in lecture was the postpartum hemorrhage
simulation. I learned how chaotic and overwhelming everything can be during an emergency, but
also realized how important it is to have teamwork and a general game plan. It s amazing how good
teamwork allows things to go so smoothly. The entire process, with everything that... Show more

We not only assisted one another, but we also challenged each other with questions that allowed us
to use our critical thinking.
5. What would you do differently if you had the chance?
During our return demonstration, we all felt like we needed to look to our instructor for
guidance in what we should do. The reason for this was because we all lacked the confidence to
feel like we knew what we were doing. If I could do it again, I would have liked to have been more
knowledgeable about the scenario so that I could be more confident.
6. What can I do to help you meet your goals for this experience?
It is obvious that all of our instructors have a common goal, which is for all of us to learn as much
as we possibly can. I honestly think that by allowing as many opportunities as possible to see and
experience as much as possible will help us all learn from our clinical experiences.
Goals:
I found all of our simulations very interesting today. I gained an enormous amount of information
which I am sure will enhance my skill performance. Our instructor was very helpful in explaining
fetal monitoring and how to interpret the strips. I thought that she did an amazing job explaining
how to read the strips and answering the questions we all had. I feel more confident about this
material than I did prior to coming to clinical. I would have to say that learning more about this is

A Report On The World s Prisoner Suit
Barely moments later, the speedster flashed in his prisoner suit in the lab, or at least what used
to be S.T.A.R. Labs. Like the rest of the city, it was barely a shell of what it used to be. While the
building was thankfully still standing, it hadn t been used as a base of operation for a very, very
long time. This much was clear. There was dust everywhere on the ground and every equipment or
window he could found were broken, pieces laying on the ground all around. No, no....what

Was anyone left even alive? Despite the elevator being out of service, no real surprise there, Barry

Dusting off his finding, Barry found himself holding an old and damaged newspaper, yellowed by
time a long time ago, making it hard to decrypt anything other than the title: City still reco..ring
from t...aliens attac...: evacuation ...t...rdered
It was dated from March 2019, over 2 years after the attack. What was the date now? How long
has he slept? Everything was clear; he failed them all, each and every person he cared about, he
left them all to die when he gave himself up for nothing. Step sounds coming from the hallway
made him sharply turn around and rise on his feet in an instant. Who could it be in this ghost town?
When the figure, a woman dressed in black with an eye patch on her left eye, entered the cortex
and came into view, Barry gasped at the sight; he knew who it was despite the noticeable
differences. Caitlin. He whispered in shock.
His old friend looked definitely rougher as her now short hair were barely touching her
shoulders and her face, the only unhidden part of her face, was covered in scars and she was
holding an odd looking assault weapon directed at the speedster. As she intensively stared at the
person standing, she presented no sign of softening, or even no sign of recognition. What are you
doing here? She harshly inquired. Cait, it s me. Said Barry, softly, getting closer. You re supposed
to be dead.
Oh well, at least she

The play shows a series of scenes and stories to illustrate the daily lives of Jack and his patients.
The main conflict of the play is Jack s realization that the four men are wearing him out and that
he needs to move on with his life. The play The Boys Next Door supports the connection
between global cultural experiences due to its portrayal of the disabilities as realistically as
possible. Although the description of the play may make it seem like a heavy handed drama, the
play is actually filled with some comical moments. However for the play to work, the audience
must be laughing with the characters, not at them. The direction of the play portrayed this rule
effectively, and it brought a blend of sympathy along with sportive humor as shown by the ending
scenes, where you laugh at Arnold s threats to move to Russia if Jack leaves,

Psychedelic Mushrooms
Shrooms, boomers, magic, psychedelic or hallucinogenic mushrooms are a fungi containing
substance capable of causing the user to hallucinate. These types of mushrooms have been around
for many years and exist in many different species. These fungi look just like an ordinary fungi but
are illegal in many countries; just like other hallucinogenic drugs. They have many different effects
on the body, which is why people buy and sell these magic mushrooms . Hallucinogenic mushrooms
are fungi that contain psychedelic substances that make the user hallucinate. The substance in these
mushrooms is psilocybin, which is hallucinogenic. The mushrooms can be eaten either fresh or

recording of people using these mushrooms is from 7000 B.C. rock paintings in the Sahara desert
(www.magicmushrooms.net). Psychedelic mushrooms were a revered tradition in native Central
American cultures at the time of the European invasion, and have been in continuous use up to the
present. Named teonanГЎcatl ( flesh of the gods ) in Nahuatl, they may have been employed for
healing, divination and for intercession with spirits. Since the beginning of the Latin American
colonial era, their use has been hidden due to persecution by the Christian church, which branded
all native religious practices as pagan (wikipedia.org). According to the BBC(British Broadcasting
Corporation), the first documented use of psychedelic mushrooms was in the Medical and Physical
Journal: In 1799, a man who had been picking mushrooms for breakfast in London s Green Park
included them(psychedelic mushrooms) in his harvest, accidentally sending his entire family on a

The Death Penalty In The United States
The death penalty is an issue that has the United States divided. The death penalty is a
controversial problem in law that has become a popular debate among politicians due to its
economical and ethical issues. While there are many who encourage it, there is also a huge amount
of those who are against it, including myself. I believe the death penaltyshould be illegal throughout
the country. There are many reasons why I presume this. The debates against the death penalty are
mainly moral in their character that it is wrong to kill and when the state kills it sends out the
wrong message to the rest of the country. The death penalty should not be legal in the United States

  • 2. Professor Mitra Biography Professor Raka Mitra is a cell biologist in the Department of Biology here at Carleton College. She is a Minnesota native and graduate from Robinsdale Armstrong High School, which is a public high school northwest of the Twin Cities. She credits her high school s flexible curriculum in providing her the foundation she needed to pursue a career in science, in addition to the strong support she had from her family, who wished her well and gave her independence in her academic and career decisions; her female friend group, whom she grew up and became valedictorian with; and her dance team, which instilled confidence in her. Growing up, Professor Mitra was inclined to most of the sciences with the exception of chemistry but it wasn t until her 10th grade AP biology class that she felt a stronger inclination towards a particular field in STEM. It was during the unorthodox instruction she received from her AP biology teacher in which he would encourage innovation and critical thinking by having her and her fellow classmates answer problem sets with a library of science textbooks, and in which he would assign oral biology... She believes the today s advancements in genome sequencing and Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) technology will dramatically change the field of cellular and molecular biology moving forward. On a smaller scale, she believes the focus that some of the biologist, including herself, make on mastering mechanisms and disease in easy to study systems will eventually equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to leverage them to more complicated systems, which will allow them to solve agricultural problems, such as determining what causes pathogens to affect plants at the roots and reduce food ... • 3. Roman Republic Vs Roman Kingdom In the reading assignment, I have learned so many differences between the two classes in the Roman societies that lead to so many revolts. After I finished reading the documents, I realized that those revolts also made Rome became the strong power that it was. And I imagine that if there were some people like that in some societies, there would be more progress in those societies. We have to be clear that the Roman society that I m talking about is the Roman Republic and not the Roman Kingdom. The differences between those two are that the Roman Kingdom had a Monarch government that means it was ruled by a king while the Roman Republic was a free government. To be honest with you, I don t really understand the type of government that the Roman Republic had because in some times, dictators were appointed, Senators were elected, and there were also popular assemblies. So, I don t really know this type of government. As a free government, it is clear that people who are wealthy and had more power would be more benefit in everything. I can qualify those people as the aristocrats. They would group themselves to form a group of leaders to rule over the Republic. Here came the creation of the two classes and the struggle between them. All over the world and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, with their revolts, they obtained the same rights as the Patricians. There is one thing that keeps my attention after I finished reading about the political equality of the Roman Republic. The division between the two classes had caused the destruction of Rome by the Gaul and the Veil. The differences made it weak and unprotected. References: William C. Morey. (1901). • 4. Benefits Of A Good Dentist When I was six years old, I needed to have a tooth pulled. The dentist had my father leave the room, then, as I kicked and screamed and fought, he proceeded to restrain me with one hand, while he held a black anesthesia mask over my face with the other. I woke up with a mouth full of bloody gauze and an intense fear of dentists. For many people, finding a good dentist is a hard task because of past bad experiences. I often tell people that I d rather give birth than go to the dentist. Since I have seven kids, born naturally, I know from which I speak. I also know that it is possible to find a great dentist, and while I am largely over my phobia, I would have no compunction about switching dentists if I felt that the one I was seeing did... A Good Dentist Will Help You Heal A good dentist will do everything in her power to make certain that you heal, not only from your procedure, but from your past. She will nurture you as you come to trust in her ability, caring about your personal experience as much as she cares about your teeth. A good dentist is worth his weight in gold teeth. Ask friends you trust for recommendations, and remember that, since you are paying him, you are the boss. If you do not feel at home with one dentist, keep looking until you find a good fit so that you are not left worrying about good fitting dentures in the future. Conquer Your Fear of the Dentist http:/ /www.saveyoursmile.com I have always been that person who has prided in having the least number of doctor visits in the family. Dental hygiene is something that I had been taking for granted all of these years. I can say I have never been to a dentist...till now. I never thought a toothache could hurt so much! Here are some tips and tricks I had taken when I selected my dentist and hope it would help you, too. 1. Get a doctor who is close to where you stay You never know when you may need to see the dentist and at what time of the day. Getting a dentist close to where stay or work would be more convenient for you. You wouldn t need to go far off to see a dentist....Especially when you are in a great deal of pain. 2. The novel Angela s Ashes, written in 1996, is considered a work of modernism. Writers often talked about historical events, due (feeling) that they were at the end of history. ( Modernism504). The temperature and pressure inside the reactor began to rise uncontrollably in a runaway chemical reaction. Inside the reactor the pressure was still, increasing reaching 400 pounds per square inch and boosting the rupture disc. A good example of what was happening is to compare it to a tea kettle on the stove. As steam and heats up within the kettle, it looks for an opening to relieve pressure. When the steam finds that opening it begins to make the whistling sound which gets louder and louder as the water continues to heatup and the steam escapes the kettle more quickly. ... • 9. Natural Law Vs Divine Command Theory The Theory of Natural Law, may be define in three aspects, there being a natural order in the world, everything having a purpose and how things are and how things ought to be. This theory also states that humans can distinguish between what is right or wrong through human reason/moral knowledge. On the other hand, the Divine Command Theory is a view of moralityand states that what s right or wrong is set by Gods moralcommands. God s commands tell us what is morally obligatory, permitted and wrong. The Natural Law tells that humans have a moral knowledge/reason that makes us able to decide what s right. This has caused various debates on whether people did the right because it was the right thing to do or because that s what God commands. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, not all the Ten Commandants are easy to follow or even go with the time we are living in. One of the Ten Commandants states that we should not take the name of the Lord in vain, yet today the Lord s name it s something we say on a daily basis. In addition, religious followers may decide to act in a harmful or negative way in society and defend themselves by saying that God has command them to do it; which may lead to extreme religions, where its followers may take every word of the book to heart and try to carry out those views on their society. This theory makes us question on whether who came first, God or right, which I believe that right came first. When comparing the Divine Command with the Minimum Conception, it can be deduced that both are very differing from each other. One of the reasons is that with the Divine Command, God chooses for us what it s right or wrong and if it became a moral system, atheists will feel out of place because they have a different set of believe just like other religions. In conclusion, while both the Natural Law Theory and the Divine Command Theory have aspects that I don t agree on, both brought interesting ways to look at the world and the origin of our morals. Personally, I agree more with the Natural Law, since I believe that people do act on moral knowledge and the world has a natural order. Both theories showed me the various ways people may think about God and what s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Global Sleep Cycle Sleep Function: Global and Local Regulation of Sleep Cycles IntroductionSleep is commonly referred to as a global state, one which engages the entire nervous system. The states of sleep and wakefulness are highly interconnected and share common physiological mechanisms; however, there are distinct differences in the neurochemical pathways that underlie them. The notion that sleep is a global state is supported by evidence that the interrelated states of sleep and wakefulness engage a multitude of neuronal pathways and components. These networks of neuronal transmitters and receptors extend throughout the brain; from the brainstem to the basal forebrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, and cerebral cortex. The onset of sleep and wakefulness is known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During states of arousal and wakefulness, information is encoded in the neocortical and hippocampal networks in the form of memories (Frankland et al., 2005). The networks that are activated during wakefulness are subsequently reactivated during SWS via SWA, which leads to synaptic downscaling and memory consolidation. A study conducted by Peigneux and colleagues (2004) provided evidence that presents a positive association between improvement in post sleep retrieval activity performance and the amount of hippocampal SWA that an individual experiences during SWS. This study suggests a correlation between the reactivation of wake active neuronal networks via SWA and memory improvement during SWS. In addition to the overnight evaluation of memory consolidation, short term evaluation of memory across the first day, which included a 90 minute sleep period between training and performance of the retrieval activity, also demonstrated a positive correlation between the amount of SWA that occurred during the sleep period and the success of the retrieval activity performance (Peigneux et al., 2004). Moreover, a study conducted by Marshall and colleagues (2004), also examined the manipulation of memory consolidation during sleep and found a positive association between hippocampal SWA and the performance of a ... • 12. Tradeoffs Between Relational and Object-Oriented Database... Discuss the tradeoffs between relational and object oriented database management systems 1) Stating Position The object oriented DBMS is superior to the relational database on some specific counts, primarily because it can satisfy the complex demands of the market today better than the any other. Secondly while the relational data base stores data as tables, the object model stores data as objects and creates associations. This can create a multiple set of attributes for each object such that the data base is more flexible to the requirements that may be housed for different sets of data having both similar and dissimilar characteristics. The paradigms then are developed for each set of common characteristics and unique characteristics of the objects which is not possible in a relational database that has a very rigid structure. (Bruegge, 2004) Earlier the heterogeneous systems integration is a major issue. Therefore it has to be considered if the system proposed is amenable to multiple platforms and will give the same results. There are many applications available to enforce this, but it is to be borne in mind that in a data management system many components have to be integrated with the system and the layering of these components becomes critical. (Thuraisingham, 2001) But the requirements today have gone beyond the traditional DBMS and the system is expected too seamlessly perform varied functions like tracking functions, data analysis and reporting, vendor ... • 14. Reason For European Imperialism Imperialism, a policy in which one country seeks authority over another country by economic and political domination. The Europeans at this time in history, were looking for resources and something to help them show their national pride; the best way to do that was to imperialize different countries. Africa, which was not industrialized, was seen as not capable to lead themselves into modernization. The europeans as well as many other countries began to seek land in the divided, war filled country. The reasons for europeans seeking imperialismis because of the strive for natural resources, the need to show national pride, and thoughts upon racism. An empire such as Britain requires an imperial race (Primrose). People from all over saw how different people and cultures came from all over the world which create hate and a variety of disapproval for others. African people were seen as hated, uncivilized people only because, they had so many different cultures and different ways of living. If Africa was to be industrialized before other countries came it would have been seen as a land that is respected because the people who live in it are capable of industrialization. But because the land was not industrialized before imperialism racism became a strong attacking point upon the uncivilized. France went with a fully developed race into territories marked by barbarism and people who cannot develop their own land (Merlin). France in this description sees themselves as superior to the Africans because, they do not have fighting within their country and they are industrialized. Without their ability to come together as a country and grow an economy France would be another Africa. Racism drove France to come to Africa and show their superiority over them. Racism was a large reason for imperialism. Africa was a resource rich, divided, different country. Every country that took a part in Africa s imperialism saw this matter and took advantage. Women were portrayed as helpless creatures, waiting in the castle for their Prince Charming whereas men were dauntless, swooping the Princess of her feet and saving the day. This gender gap came to an end when The Hunger Games (2012) was released in theaters. The brave Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) did what no real man or Prince could ever do stand up for someone else even when it meant risking her own life. The Hunger Games was not only one of the top grossing movies of the year, but it was also one of the very few movies where a woman was able to display her stability and willingness to fight. As dc link is eliminated in this topology leads to lesser cost, size and volume compared to previous topologies and almost same reliability compared to the previous topology. However, this topology is suffering from poor power decoupling and more harmonic content compared to previous topologies. The main difference between dc ac dc ac and dc dc ac power conversion scheme is, the isolated converter is employed in the first method whereas non isolated dc dc converter is employed in the second method. They are treated as a conventional two stage solutions for solar PV applications. In the case of half bridge topology, dc link is established through the two equal capacitors. These two capacitors act as a three terminal dc supply to the half bridge inverter, which converts dc to ac power. Which is then, processed through the filter before feeding to load. The most obvious meaning is mentioned in the opening scene where Detective Graham Waters says We think we miss that touch so much, we crash into each other just to feel something. Detective Waters is referring to the hundreds of crashes that occur in Los Angles every day that he believes people need to feel alive. Cars and car crashes are major plot devices that are used in this movie to cause people to meet each other. Another significance of the title is a crashing of cultures. The night before, the Thayer family was pulled over because the police were looking for a black Lincoln Navigator that was similar to the car they were driving. Unfortunately, the family was pulled over my Officer Ryan who was very racist and power hungry. Mrs. Thayer became very angry during the stop which led to Officer Ryan to fondling her to show that he had the power to do so. When Mrs. Thayer saw that she was going to be saved by Officer Ryan the next day under the car, she screamed and didn t want him to touch her. Right before the car ignited, a fellow officer tried to pull Officer Ryan out to save him, but he refused and crawled back under the car to save Mrs. Thayer. In true Hollywood fashion, the car exploded as soon as Mrs. Thayer escaped. The Negative Effects Of Art Therapy On Older Adults Imagine receiving therapeutic treatment through painting, drawing, photography, music, acting, dancing, or any other form of creative expression. Therapeutic art has been shown to have power and influence on emotional and developmental states of individuals (Paskaleva Uzunova, 2015). In their professional paper, researchers Paskaleva and Uzunova discuss multiple benefits of art therapy on the body and mind. In particular, the knowledge that art acts as a non verbal communication of inner selves, and that it has evidence of increased emotional states, moods, and ideas is of great interest. Also, the finding that there is no significant restrictions on the positive effects of art therapy when considering age, gender, or education level, is promising due to the possibility of far reaching effects on a wide variety of people (Paskaleva Uzunova, 2015). This statement allows for the realization that older adults, no matter the age, can benefit from therapeutic art interventions. Certain research looks specifically at the effects of art therapy on older adults cognition, improvements in dementia patients states, the decrease in symptoms for older adults suffering from depression, and the improvement of quality of life through art intervention; from these studies, one can begin to theorize that the lives of the elderly can be changed for the better through art. It has seen tsarist autocracy, fascism, despotism, and the great associated movements of the political solidity and contrariety of communism and capitalism. During the Cold War, sport was a sphere in which the USSR and the West competed bitterly. Following World War II, the Soviet Unionutilized the Olympics to assure the world of its superiority and to prove communism s stability as a political ideology. The military is comprised of adults that must be constantly trained to the highest of proficiencies in combat and non combat supporting roles. In the military, the personnel responsible for conducting training are noncommissioned officers, which are soldiers between the ranks of corporal and sergeant major. Noncommissioned officers must know their soldiers and be able to train them to the high levels of efficiency required to successfully conduct their missions. Noncommissioned officers must practice and use andragogyregularly to continue training junior soldiers. There are four definitions of the term adult: biological, legal, social, and psychological. The biological definition of an adult is the age in which people can reproduce. The legal definition of an adult is when a person is able to vote, get a driver s license, marry without consent, etc. The social definition of an adult is the age at which people start performing adult roles in society, such as a full time worker, spouse, parent, or voting citizen. The psychological definition, the most obscure definition, is when a person arrives at a self concept and become responsible for their life (Knowles, Holton Swanson, 2012). The ages in which one could be considered an adult is very broad with these definitions; however, every soldiermeets at least three of the four definitions. The first ...
