The document discusses techniques for removing haze and fog from images. It presents a technique called IDeRS that uses an iterative dehazing model to remove haze and fog from remote sensing images. The IDeRS technique estimates atmospheric light independently of haze-opaque regions using a haze-line prior method. It then computes a transmission map using the dark channel prior model to estimate a raw transmission map. The technique achieves high signal-to-noise ratios and improves on other methods that did not completely remove haze and suffered from artifacts.

many computer graphics/vision applications as it reduces the visibility of the scene. Air light and
attenuation are two basic phenomena of haze. air light enhances the whiteness in scene and on
the other hand attenuation reduces the contrast. the colour and contrast of the scene is recovered
by haze removal techniques. many applications like object detection , surveillance, consumer

The single image dehazing based on efficient transmission estimationAVVENIRE TECHNOLOGIES
We propose a novel haze imaging model for single image haze removal. Haze imaging model is formulated using dark channel prior (DCP), scene radiance, intensity, atmospheric light and transmission medium. The dark channel prior is based on the statistics of outdoor haze-free images. We find that, in most of the local regions which do not cover the sky, some pixels (called dark pixels) very often have very low intensity in at least one color (RGB) channel. In hazy images, the intensity of these dark pixels in that channel is mainly contributed by the air light. Therefore, these dark pixels can directly provide an accurate estimation of the haze transmission. Combining a haze imaging model and a interpolation method, we can recover a high-quality haze free image and produce a good depth map.

Computationally Efficient Methods for Sonar Image Denoising using Fractional ...CSCJournals
Sonar images produced due to the coherent nature of scattering phenomenon inherit a multiplicative component called speckle and contain almost homogeneous as well as textured regions with relatively rare edges. Speckle removal is a pre-processing step required in applications like the detection and classification of objects in the sonar image. In this paper computationally efficient Fractional Integral Mask algorithms to remove the speckle noise from sonar images is proposed. Riemann- Liouville definition of fractional calculus is used to create Fractional integral masks in eight directions. The use of a mask incorporated with the significant coefficients from the eight directional masks and a single convolution operation required in such case helps in obtaining the computational efficiency. The sonar image heterogeneous patch classification is based on a new proposed naive homogeneity index which depends on the texture strength of the patches and despeckling filters can be adjusted to these patches. The application of the mask convolution only to the selected patches again reduce the computational complexity. The non-homomorphic approach used in the proposed method avoids the undesired bias occurring in the traditional homomorphic approach. Experiments show that the mask size required directly depends on the fractional order. Mask size can be reduced for lower fractional orders thus ensuring the computation complexity reduction for lower orders. Experimental results substantiate the effectiveness of the despeckling method. The different non reference image performance evaluation criterion are used to evaluate the proposed method.

this paper proposes a blind dual color image watermarking scheme, which is different from some existing works using the binary or gray-level image as watermark.
The real world scenes have a very wide range of luminance levels. But in the field of photography, the ordinary cameras are not capable of capturing the true dynamic range of a natural scene. To enhance the dynamic range of the captured image, a technique known as High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging is generally used. HDR imaging is the process of capturing scenes with larger intensity range than what conventional sensors can capture. It can faithfully capture the details in dark and bright part of the scene. In this paper HDR generation method such as multiple exposure fusion in image domain and radiance domain are reviewed. The main issues in HDR imaging using multiple exposure combination technique are Misalignment of input images, Noise in data sets and Ghosting artefacts. The removal of these artefacts is a major step in HDR reconstruction. Methods for removing misalignment and noise are discussed and detailed survey of ghost detection and removal techniques are given in this paper. Single shot HDR imaging is a recent technique in the field of HDR reconstruction. Here instead of taking multiple exposure input images, a single image is used for generating HDR image. Various methods for Single shot HDR imaging are also reviewed.

Abstract
In digital image processing noise removal or noise filtering plays an important role, because for meaningful and useful processing images should not be corrupted by noises. In recent years, high quality televisions have become very popular but noise often affects TV broadcasts. Impulse noise corrupts the video during transmission and acquisition of signals. A number of denoising techniques have been introduced to remove impulse noise from images . Linear noise filtering technique does not work well when the noise is non-adaptive in nature and hence a number of non-linear filtering technique where introduced. In non-linear filtering technique, median filters and its modifications where used to remove noise but it resulted in blurring of images. Therefore here we propose an adaptive digital signal processing approach that can efficiently remove impulse noise from colour image. This algorithm is based on threshold which is adaptive in nature. This algorithm replaces the pixel only if it is found to be noisy pixel otherwise the original pixel is retained thus it results a better filtering technique when compared to median filters and its modified filters.

Analysis of Adaptive and Advanced Speckle Filters on SAR DataIOSRjournaljce
Synthetic Aperture RADAR(SAR) images get inherently affected by speckle noise which is multiplicative in nature. This noise affects the image spatial statistics and properties. Over the past several years, many SAR denoising algorithms have been developed to reduce speckle noise. Some of the standard speckle filters are Gamma MAP, Lee, Frost and Kuan filters. Further, these have also been modified to obtain better results after filtering, than their original counterparts. Apart from the standard speckle filters, advanced SAR filters like Block Matching 3 Dimensional (BM3D) are also present. In this paper several standard as well as advanced speckle filters have been analyzed and compared. For comparison, Quality Assessment has been performed where the filtered images are compared to each other using parameters like Radiometric Resolution and others. These parameters help to distinguish the performance of the filters on basis of signal strength, speckle reduction, mean preservation and edge and feature preservation. In the paper, radiometric resolution, speckle index and mean preservation index will be used to analyze among the performance of the filters.

Single Image Fog Removal Based on Fusion Strategy csandit
Images of outdoor scenes are degraded by absorption and scattering by the suspended particles and water droplets in the atmosphere. The light coming from a scene towards the camera is attenuated by fog and is blended with the airlight which adds more whiteness into the scene. Fog removal is highly desired in computer vision applications. Removing fog from images can
significantly increase the visibility of the scene and is more visually pleasing. In this paper, we propose a method that can handle both homogeneous and heterogeneous fog which has been tested on several types of synthetic and real images. We formulate the restoration problem
based on fusion strategy that combines two derived images from a single foggy image. One of
the images is derived using contrast based method while the other is derived using statistical
based approach. These derived images are then weighted by a specific weight map to restore
the image. We have performed a qualitative and quantitative evaluation on 60 images. We use
the mean square error and peak signal-to-noise ratio as the performance metrics to compare
our technique with the state-of-the-art algorithms. The proposed technique is simple and shows
comparable or even slightly better results with the state-of-the-art algorithms used for
defogging a single image.
Shadow Detection and Removal using Tricolor Attenuation Model Based on Featur...ijtsrd
Presently present TAM FD, a novel expansion of tricolor constriction model custom fitted for the difficult issue of shadow identification in pictures. Past strategies for shadow discovery center on learning the neighborhood appearance of shadow areas, while utilizing restricted nearby setting thinking as pairwise possibilities in a Conditional Random Field. Interestingly, the proposed methodology can display more elevated amount connections and worldwide scene attributes. We train a shadow locator that relates to the generator of a restrictive TAM, and expand its shadow precision by consolidating the run of the mill TAM misfortune with an information misfortune term utilizing highlight descriptor. Shadows happen when articles impede direct light from a wellspring of enlightenment, which is generally the sun. As indicated by the rule of arrangement, shadows can be separated into cast shadow and self shadow. Cast shadow is planned by the projection of articles toward the light source self shadow alludes to the piece of the item that isnt enlightened. For a cast shadow, the piece of it where direct light is totally hindered by an article is named the umbra, while the part where direct light is mostly blocked is named the obscuration. On account of the presence of an obscuration, there wont be an unequivocal limit among shadowed and non shadowed regions the shadows cause incomplete or all out loss of radiometric data in the influenced zones, and therefore, they make errands like picture elucidation, object identification and acknowledgment, and change recognition progressively troublesome or even inconceivable. SDI record improves by 1.76 . Shading segment record for safeguard shading difference during evacuation of shadow procedure is improved by 9.75 . Atmospheric Correction of Remotely Sensed Images in Spatial and Transform DomainCSCJournals
Remotely sensed data is an effective source of information for monitoring changes in land use and land cover. However remotely sensed images are often degraded due to atmospheric effects or physical limitations. Atmospheric correction minimizes or removes the atmospheric influences that are added to the pure signal of target and to extract more accurate information. The atmospheric correction is often considered critical pre-processing step to achieve full spectral information from every pixel especially with hyperspectral and multispectral data. In this paper, multispectral atmospheric correction approaches that require no ancillary data are presented in spatial domain and transform domain. We propose atmospheric correction using linear regression model based on the wavelet transform and Fourier transform. They are tested on Landsat image consisting of 7 multispectral bands and their performance is evaluated using visual and statistical measures. The application of the atmospheric correction methods for vegetation analyses using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index is also presented in this paper.
Development and Hardware Implementation of an Efficient Algorithm for Cloud D...sipij
Detecting clouds in satellite imagery is becoming more important with increasing data availability which
are generated by earth observing satellites. Hence, intellectual processing of the enormous amount of data
received by hundreds of earth receiving stations, with specific satellite image oriented approaches,
presents itself as a pressing need. One of the most important steps in previous stages of satellite image
processing is cloud detection. While there are many approaches that compact with different semantic

Image fusion is the process of combining two or more images with specific objects with more precision. It is very common that when one object is focused remaining objects will be less highlighted. To get an image highlighted in all areas, a different means is necessary. This is done by the Image Fusion. In remote sensing, the increasing availability of Space borne images and synthetic aperture radar images gives a motivation to different kinds of image fusion algorithms. In the literature a number of time domain image fusion techniques are available. Few transform domain fusion techniques are proposed. In transform domain fusion techniques, the source images will be decomposed, then integrated into a single data and will be reconstructed back into time domain. In this paper, singular value decomposition as a tool to have transform domain data will be utilized for image fusion. In the literature, the quality assessment of fusion techniques is mainly by subjective tests. In this paper, objective quality assessment metrics are calculated for existing and proposed techniques. It has been found that the new image fusion technique outperformed the existing ones.
