Morocco is a country that is not an open country to various religions aside from Islam, despite what
their Constitution and leading politicians claim. Furthermore, Morocco is currently 0.01% evangelized
overall. It is in desperate need of evangelism. There are over 13 million people in Morocco that need
to hear about Jesus Christ. That would be the equivalent of all of Illinois and Vermont being
completely unreached. This paper will attempt to outline a strategy of beginning a church planting
movement that reaches the rural Arab, Moroccan s and more specifically, the Arabized Berber ethnic
group that are primarily farmers and small villagers, through practical means of farming techniques
and livestock care that will establish relationships. In order to accomplish this, this paper will first
attempt to give a brief background of the Arabized Berbers by highlighting their history, culture,
language and religion. Second, this paper will survey the work of current missionaries among them
that explores the history of missions, the status of the church today and the strategies being employed.
Finally, this paper will offer a proposal for a strategy to reach the Arabized Berbers that involves
prayer, financial support, partnering with indigenous churches, believers and other organizations and
tent making skills that encourage self support.

computer literacy and information literacy. We know that computer literacy is defined as a person who

Databases help people reduce time for us by needing to gather all information, processing, and
interpreting data manually. For this we can use the Microsoft Access Program or FileMaker Pro. The
process component is for generating any useful information for decision making. It includes any for
transaction processing in which the banks use to make transactions for any deposits, withdrawals,
payments, cashiers checks, or money orders. For example, anytime there are transactions being
recorded in the computer, it will appear in the journal and will be printed for the end of the shift of the
day once a teller balances out and closes for the day. The information component is the output of the
information systems. For example, information contains qualities such as the timeliness and the
integration of other data information. The personnel information system provides useful information
to carry out any objectives effective for those decision makers. For example, intranets is useful for
providing basic human resources functions such as checking the paid time off left or by searching for
their 401k plan retirement of their funds. The intranet is a network that provides for the protocols and

significant other, then Kane s, and now Pell s, to caution her of Miller s fast approaching landing.
Helen knows about the peril; she has sold her business and plans to leave town to maintain a strategic
distance from Miller, and to abstain from seeing Kane murdered. Judge Percy Mettrick (Otto Kruger),
who sentenced Miller, is leaving too, and urges Kane to do likewise. Amy gives Kane a final proposal:
She is leaving on the twelve train, with or without him. Will recovers his identification and scours the

Moments Of Self-Change In Curb Your Enthusiasm
Moments of Self Change
I think the most significant change that I have made in my life is being more accepting of who I really
am, and dealing with how I feel about a certain subject. If you ve ever watched HBO s Curb Your
Enthusiasm, you d know how Larry David, the creator of Seinfeld feels about certain things.I ve
noticed that I have become accepting of the fact that sometimes I just don t want to talk to someone
and I really don t need to feel the need to be polite and entertain people. Growing up,and during my
college years I was very social towards my peers. Nowadays, I m still social, but I draw certain
boundaries. What I mean to say is that certain things don t appeal to me, or better yet I don t feel the
need for certain social practices.

this on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 and he is the latest Bush to advocate for a military campaign
in the Middle East (Bobic). Ultimately, to accomplish this, he believes that we need to intensify our
efforts in the air and on the ground (Bobic). The ground forces should consist of the United States,
NATO, and Arab partners (Bobic). His announcement of this military action in the Middle East was
due to the Paris terror attacks where at least 129 people died and hundreds more were injured by

Space Exploration Argumentative Essay
In 1969, the iconic first steps on the moon drew in 500 million people who watched from their
television screens. Since then, two thirds of Americans say they are interested in space exploration.
What is stopping NASA and other space programs from feeding into Americans interests? Many argue
that space exploration is vital to our society and one day the human race in its entirety will have no
option but to leave Earth in search of a new planet. Others insist the space programs in America have
created some of the world s most useful inventions, ranging from CT scanners to digital cameras to
firefighting equipment; these inventions supposedly prove space exploration s worth. While these
statements may have some truth to them, there are multiple setbacks that make space exploration
difficult for American space programs to accomplish, and, in the end, not worth it at least for now.
One of the most significant issues is the cost. According to Washington Post, funding for space
exploration in America is at an all time low of one half percent, reduced from four percent of America
s government spending. With this low percentage of government investment, the costs that are
required to send ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

exploration, it s certain that the American people will be forever affected. As Ron Garan once stated,

The Genesis Of Future Conflict
Controversy surrounds the existence of the western way of war theme and even plants the seed of
doubt if it did occur. In Parker s The Cambridge History of Warfare, Parker suggests the western way
of war can be abridged into five characteristics: technology, discipline, aggressive military action,
finance, and innovation. Parker proposes that the western way of war facets significantly altered the
preparation for battle and the outcomes on the battlefield. A prime example is the great Napoleon
Bonaparte during his conquest to dominate the continent of Europe. The characteristics of the western
way of war that are best characterized during the Napoleon era are discipline, aggressive military
tradition, and innovation. The purpose of this essay is to argue that these three aspects were to become
the genesis of future conflict in post Napoleon era. The French army was not only promoted by the
nationalism ideology, but also by discipline. Before the French Revolution, Soldiers at the time were
viewed as the dredger of society. Soldiers within Fredrick the Great s armies did not have loyalty. For
example, Fredrick would send out troops for resources and his Soldiers often did not return; whereas
Napoleon s troops would gather resources from the land and return. Before the Seven Year s War, the
army was without enthusiasm and distinction, which lead to defeats. 2 Napoleon employed various
tactics aimed at physiology warfare with his opposition. Napoleon gave his enemies the

Internal And External Actors In Somalia
According to the ICG, since 1991 Somalia has become a victim of many internal and external
interventions. The collapse of the central government paved a way for the immediate emergence of
influential internal and external actors in Somalia (ICG, 2006).
Internal actors according to Bulhan are established within Somalia and they are originally Somalians
such as the Business Lords, local media, Somalia Diasporas, pirates, clans, and different charity
organizations and Islamic groups with Islam as a motto. The external actors are the neighboring
countries, Western states and Arab nations with the both political and economic wishes. For instance,
Ethiopia, Kenya, Eretria, Djibouti, and Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, the UAE, U.S., Italy, UK,
and Turkey had a vital role (Bulhan, 2013).
According to Grosse (2004), the collapse of the central government in Somalia give a great
opportunity for a business people since there is no any kind of regulations the new business owners

organizations and Islamic groups were also engaged in Somalia crisis. After the down fail of Barre,
Somalia becomes the safe haven of the Islamist groups. The arrangement of these Islamist groups was
basically two folded, the first one is they organize themselves as charity organizations such as Al

Feminist Perspective In Hamlet
Throughout history, women have endured patriarchy and oppression. The re envisioning of literature
in a feminist canon has reinvigorated lost works of women and has made clear themes of sexual
difference and importance of gender within classical texts. In William Shakespeare s Hamlet, the
feminist perspective reveals several elements of these societal differences that were so relevant in
Elizabethan times. Although the play suggests an array of interpretations, the feminist perspective
emphasizes the strength and significance of the feminine elements in this controversial piece of
literature, mainly through the deterioration of Ophelia s psyche, the patriarchal relationships that
admonish the component of power concerning gender, and the significant rhetoric that differentiates
these roles. Within the feminist canon, the portrayal of the character Ophelia and her mental state in
the play have resulted in a vast amount of discussion concerning how male dominated society, and its
pressures, have affected women. Ophelia s insanity is not merely the inner workings of her mind
derailing but the composite result of the repression underlying within the atmosphere of Elsinore.
Specifically, in Act IV, Scene v where she is perceived to have gone insane conveys a multitude of
ideas of what is the meaning of this outburst and its impact on gender perspectives. According to
Elaine Showalter, Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness, and the Responsibilities of Feminist
Criticism, there

The Northanger Abbey And The Vicar Of Wakefield
One question that comes up in older novels such as Northanger Abbey and The Vicar of Wakefield is
that of the economy of love or more specifically marriage. Today, people take for granted that people
get married for love and little else. The idea of marriage as an economic decision is a foreign and
fascinating idea in today s society, but it was very prominent in Goldsmith s and Austen s times and
that is reflected in their novels.
Take first, Goldsmith s The Vicar of Wakefield and what role romantic love plays in the novel. The
Vicar himself presents many different arguments about how his daughters should marry throughout
the novel, some of these contradicting each other and very few of them in favor of love as a motive of
marriage. At first, it seems that he wants his daughters to marry men of their own social class, and
discourages his oldest from pursuing Mr. Thornhill on the basis that disproportioned friendships ever
terminate in disgust (Goldsmith 15). He likewise rejects the benevolent Mr. Burchell as a suitor for his
youngest daughter because ...he is poor, and perhaps deserves poverty; for he has neither the ambition
to be independent, nor the skill to be useful (Goldsmith 17). Later, however, he looks more closely at
the characters of his daughters respective suitors and seems to set aside, if not abandon altogether, the
issue of marrying within one s own class. He very obviously disapproves of Mr. Thornhill asserting
that he ...could have been better pleased

cognitive biases. Even though we are rarely able to recognize them, cognitive biases have a great
effect on our way of living. Personally, by analyzing my daily behaviour, as well as people around me,
I can identify four cognitive biases, that occur more often than other. One of them is Law of the

alternative approaches. This cognitive bias I experience very often, since one of the weak sides of my
character is stubbornness and risk aversion, so in my daily behaviour while making any decision, I

Human Nutrition And Its Effects On The Health Of Obese People
Human nutrition is one of the vital topics discussed in the fields of health, largely because a diet
predicts the well being of the human species. Recently, Americans have been eating a particularly
hurtful diet, deficient in nutrients needed to maintain a healthy physiological state. A steady increase
of obese and overweight people developed over the course of the last century to present day, and the
issue has only recently gained the attention of the public. The cause for concern is due to the health of
obese people. They have an increased risk for health complications such as diabetes, high blood
pressure, stroke, cardiac arrest, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cancer (specifically endometrial,
kidney, and gallbladder), etc (Head 1 2). Obesity and overweight are ways to define a person with
more than normal body fat, which is measured on the body mass index chart (Harvard School of
Public Health). According to the Centers of Disease Control, an adult with a BMI between 25 kg/m2
and 29.9 kg/m2 is labeled overweight, making a BMI of over 30 kg/m2 the label for obesity. In
children, overweight falls between the 85th and 95th percentile of BMI, with obesity being over the
95th percentile (CDC). In 2012, a total of 68.5% of the adult population is either obese or overweight,
and the same qualifies for 16.9% of children (The State of Obesity). Despite the risks associated with
an excessive weight, obesity rates have yet to significantly decline for all age groups, and the

Gender Roles In Gold Diggers And Swing Time
From Fortunes to Pennies: The Sexual Economics of Ginger Rogers Both Gold Diggers of 1933
(Busby Berkeley, 1933) and Swing Time (George Stevens, 1936) feature the now infamous Ginger
Rogers in two very different roles. In Gold Diggers, she plays a supporting role as the chorus girl Fay
Fortune, whereas in Swing Time, she is the top billed star playing the show business hopeful Penny
Carol aside her perennial film and dance partner, Fred Astaire as show business veteran Lucky
Garnett. These two Ginger Rogers roles provide insight into the socioeconomic roles women played in
the societal landscape of the 1930s. By analyzing the same actress in two roles, one leading and one
supporting, in two film musicals produced three years apart, we can isolate exactly what
characteristics were fit for a leading lady at that point in film history. Upon close examination, many
of the changes made from the supporting role of Fay to the leading role of Penny can boil down to two
overarching themes: sexual repression and heterosexual coupling. A simple way to begin tracking this
evolution is by considering the wardrobes of the two characters. Penny s wardrobe is very
conservative. Her legs are almost always covered, even to the point of frustration as it often obscures
the view of her spectacular dancing and intricate footwork. Also, she tends to wear very plain fabrics,
and she is especially fond of white, which symbolically portrays the virginal, pure personality we
associate with Penny.

Framing Fundamentals
Framing Fundamentals: Shots and Basic Rules of Thumb
Video shots are all about composition. Instead of pointing the camera at your subjects, what you need
to do is to compose an image. Framing is that very process of making forming composition.
Framing techniques are very subjective. What one client finds to be moving may look pointless to
someone else. What you need to look at are industry guidelines which you can refer to as your rules of
thumb.
The rules of video image framing are technically the same for those used in photography.
Fundamental Shots
There is a video industry convention which gives names to the common kinds of shots. The meanings
of each could vary but their purposes are relative. Basic shots are called according to what s applicable
to subjects. For instance, close up shot has to be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Called the safety room, this is that small amount of space atop the head and beneath the feet. In this
shot, the subject still does not take the whole frame width.
The midshot shows a bit more details about the subject. This is more like an estimate of how you
would like to see a person in the flesh. Of course, you would not pay attention to the lower portion of
the body, just his face till about his stomach.
The medium close up is a shot that features the face more clearly.
Extreme close up shots are those that show extreme details of a subject. The ECU should effectively
convey emotion. The cutaway shot is that shot that gives you an idea of what is happening outside of
the present action. This is often a different subject or, at times, a CU of a part of the subject.

To be honest, I really did not want to go to see the Amistad, even though I had completed all written

These decisions are normally characterised by a known set of objectives, and can lend themselves to
programmed decision making methods. Management science offers tools and methodologies that
enable the organisations to deal with managerial problems. It deals with collection, interpretation and
presentation of data; however it is important to remember and understand the limitations, assumptions
and specific applicability of the methods in question. (M. Teale, V.Dispenza, J. Flynn, D.Currie, 2003,
pp. 228, 229)
The decisions are based on business objectives and context; decision making types can also divide into
three, depending on how much the decision made will affect the business in terms of time and
direction; these include:
Strategic Decisions long term decisions that affect the direction of the business
Tactical Decisions medium term decisions based around how to implement a strategy
Operational Decisions short term decisions, also known as administrative decisions about how to
implement the tactics. (T. Hannagan, 2008, p. 425)

The Worst Day Of My Life In A New School
Don´t be afraid she had said, You ll be fine. My friend s words repeated in my head as if someone
poured glue on my ears and stuck the words on. A new school. A new reputation. Nothing to be afraid
of. Right? Wrong. ¨Alexis!¨ my dad interrupts my dreary thoughts. My bed squeaks as I sit up and
sigh. ¨What dad?!¨ The depressing thought leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. ¨Time for school!¨ he
calls back. Right. It´s Monday. Also known as the worst day of my life, or as my parents like to call it,
the first day of my sophomore year. Usually i m excited for the first day of school, but not this time.
Not here at my new house. Not at my new school. Not in my new town. Especially not here in New
Jersey. I pull on my jet black jacket and say farewell to my thin, ill, and frail mother and with my head
and shoulders low, start my journey to Leven Academy. The air is brisk and thin when I step out the
door, my knees shivering as the bone chilling wind hits my wobbly legs. I look up to see the gray sky
hiding the sun from the world. What a lovely day I mutter sarcastically to no one in particular. I look
down at the cracked sidewalk and adjust my backpack straps and continue to walk to school. When I
reach the school entrance, there are so many students that I HAVE to lift my head to avoid getting run
into by the hundred of teenagers. After the 4th period is over I head to my locker for lunch. Now
everyone has made mistakes in their life, but this mistake will haunt me until

Descriptive Essay About Barbecue
BARBEQUE GRILLS
The smoky, heart warming and mouth watering smell of sizzling barbecue is in the air. It s nostalgic, it
s delicious and all the more joyous. You can smell it from your house even if it is coming from the end
of the street. Well, it s contagious too... it makes you want to have it! And I am sure it s the next thing
that you will be planning for your family and friends!!
Barbecue is an art, a meditative process the perfection of which depends solely on personal judgment.
It starts with building a fire that will burn steadily without getting big. It makes use of a vessel that
will smoke the meat (or vegetables, cheese, etc) gently without burning it. The intermittent glazing of
fat on the cooking meat imparts a unique flavor that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This enables the meat to get tenderized and the flavor of the spice rub or marinade goes deep in the
meat so it is seasoned from the top to the core. Before the grilling, make sure the vessel or grill is fiery
hot. It is usually done by manually burning charcoal pieces till they glow. There can be two methods
of barbecuing, one of them is grilling in which the food comes directly in contact with the grill and the
intention is to impart grill marks on the food. In the second method, the meat or vegetables chunks are
threaded on skewers which are placed so that the heat from the coal cooks the food without actually
coming in contact with the vessel. For an extra smoky flavor throw in some soaked wood chips from
oaks or hickory. You can also add a herbal essence to the meat by tossing fresh herbs like rosemary,
oregano and basil directly on the charcoal and covering the meat. Whichever way you prefer, the
experience in all will surely leave you full and

Conductivism Vs Inductivism
There are multiple methods of scientific reasoning within philosophy. Each has its own benefits and
drawbacks, but they all try to give us a more precise method to conduct scientific research.
Deductivism is thought to take a broad generalization and make it more specific. This method is made
up of premises which dictate whether or not the conclusion is true. Because the truth in the conclusion
is based on the truth in premises, deductivism gives us certainty in its validity. When looking at
something like eugenics, a scientist, such as Francis Galton, may make a statement like, all Jewish
people are dumb, Barbra Streisand is Jewish, and therefore Barbra Streisand is dumb . The first two
clauses are the premises of the statement and are simplifications of sentiments used heavily during the
Holocaust as a means to justify the killing of mainly Jewish people. While the second premise, Barbra
Streisand is Jewish, is a true statement, the first premise, all Jewish people are dumb is not. That is a
broad generalization to make about a group of people and clearly has tragic or unsatisfactory
consequences when applied. The inductivist approach uses multiple observations or experiences to
make generalities about the world or how an event will go based off of passed identical observation.
Operant conditioning can be argued to use the inductive approach. When a child does something good,
they are then rewarded. When they do that same good thing again, they are once again rewarded,
showing them they can get something positive out of the action of duty they performed. This will
cause them to believe that if they always do this duty or task, then they will be rewarded every time.
In inductivism, it only takes one time for the generalized outcome to not come to fruition for the
whole theory to then be false. This method allows for a lot of observation which helps bring support to
the theory, but due to the endless amount of observation, there is never certainty the generalization is
false or true , just that it is more likely to occur. Falsification is the idea that a hypothesis must be able
to be falsified. This does not mean that it will or that there are already doubts about the hypothesis, but
that the

ABSTRACT Computer Topography images are often corrupted by salt and pepper noise during image
acquisition and /or transmission, reconstruction due to a number of non idealities encountered in
image sensors and communication channels. Noise is considered to be the number one limiting factor
of CT image quality. A novel decision based filter, called the wavelet based multiple thresholds
switching (WMTS) filter, is used to restore images corrupted by salt pepper impulse noise. The filter
is based on a detection estimation strategy. The salt and pepper noise detection algorithm is used
before the filtering process, and therefore only the noise corrupted pixels are replaced with the
estimated central noise free ordered mean value in the current filter window. The new impulse
detector, which uses multiple thresholds with multiple neighborhood information of the signal in the
filter window, is very precise, while avoiding an undue increase in

The Fall Of The Roman Empire Summary
In the book The Fall of the Roman Empire the author Peter Heather talks about the ways the Roman
empire conquered the many territories surrounding them and how strong of an empire the Roman
empire was. He also talks about the build up all the events that causes the empire to fall. Peter also
talks about the people that helped or was involved with the build up or the collapse of the Roman
empire. Peter Heather mainly wrote this book to speak of how the European barbarians that got turned
into enemies through imperialism and that these Barbarians were capable of tearing apart an empire
that ruled over them for many of years.Peter also, mentions all the battles and build ups that occurred
throughout the Barbarians reign of power and speaks mainly of the battles that they went through.
Peters argument is that the empire did not collapse because of social or moral collapse but he believes
that the empire fell because of the Barbarians. There was many events that occurred in The Fall of the
Roman Empire. Peter Heath speaks of many Hunnic battles, because Heather is trying to explain how
military strategical the Huns are and he also talks about the battles because the Huns begin to become
an issue with Roman Empire, he also speaks of these battles because they have such a large effect on
the collapse of the Roman Empire. Peter speaks of the Battle of Hadrianople, this battle was when the
Goths defeated their first Roman army and this is what made the Goths realize that they

The Impact Of The African-American Civil Rights Movement
In the American Civil War, enslaved African Americans fought for their freedom and in 1863, the
Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery. Following the war, most African American still suffered
racial segregation and discrimination for a long time. The fight against discrimination and segregation
resulted in the Civil Rights Movement, which took place between 1954 and 1968. The African
American Civil Rights movement, had changed the status of the black community forever and shaped
the American politics. The movement resulted in the addition of several federal laws and Supreme
Court cases. In the beginning of the 19th century, racial segregation laws were enforced in all public
facilities, from schools to parks, restrooms, public transportation and restaurants, known as the Jim
Crow laws. The laws called for separation of the black and white community, for instance black
students were only allowed to attend to black schools. African Americans were constantly reminded of
the laws with signs, such as Whites Only . Certainly, blacks were against the Jim Crow laws and were
ready to act. In 1890, Louisiana passed a law, which required separate rail cars for blacks and whites.
The law was challenged by a man, called Home Plessy and resulted in the Supreme Court case called
Plessy vs. Ferguson. The court established that the segregation was fair if it was equal. In the
following decade, civil rights activists worked to change the system. In 1909, the National Association

How Geography Affects Canada s Population Distribution
Climate has a major impact on Canada s population distribution. People tend to live where there is
moderate weather, such as Toronto, where there are mild winters and moderate summers. Most people
don t like extremely hot summers or freezing cold winters which is why many people don t live in the
Arctic regions of Canada. This affects Canada in many ways because this is one reason why many
places in Canada are sparsely populate. The locations are too far north and aren t suitable and
habitable for people.
Environment has a vital significance on Canada s population distribution. People tend to live in areas
where it is rich in soil and there is easy access to it. People live less in areas that have frozen land
because you couldn t grow crops on frozen land. Moreover, we would have to import food from other
countries which make products more expensive. This is a factor that has an effect on population
distribution because people wouldn t want to move to frozen land such as northern Canada, since
crops have to be imported. Also, this is why places like Toronto are populated because of its rich soil

A reasonable enough area of flatland is where a lot of people would want to live. For example,
farming would be very difficult on rocky and steep land. Also, it would cost more money to build a
house on rocky and steep land. Most people in Canada live in the St. Lawrence Lowland region, with
2/3 of Canada s population, because of its large cities, large lakes, trees, flatland, and farmland.
However, not many people live in the Innuitian Mountains because there aren t any trees, it s
mountainous, and rocky. This affects Canada s population density because people would want to move
to places in Canada where there is flatland, lake, trees, and farmland, and why so many people live in
the southeast of

Since then, two thirds of Americans say they are interested in space exploration. What is stopping NASA and other space programs from feeding into Americans interests? Many argue that space exploration is vital to our society and one day the human race in its entirety will have no option but to leave Earth in search of a new planet. Others insist the space programs in America have created some of the world s most useful inventions, ranging from CT scanners to digital cameras to firefighting equipment; these inventions supposedly prove space exploration s worth. While these statements may have some truth to them, there are multiple setbacks that make space exploration difficult for American space programs to accomplish, and, in the end, not worth it at least for now. One of the most significant issues is the cost. • 12. The Genesis Of Future Conflict Controversy surrounds the existence of the western way of war theme and even plants the seed of doubt if it did occur. In Parker s The Cambridge History of Warfare, Parker suggests the western way of war can be abridged into five characteristics: technology, discipline, aggressive military action, finance, and innovation. Parker proposes that the western way of war facets significantly altered the preparation for battle and the outcomes on the battlefield. A prime example is the great Napoleon Bonaparte during his conquest to dominate the continent of Europe. The characteristics of the western way of war that are best characterized during the Napoleon era are discipline, aggressive military tradition, and innovation. The purpose of this essay is to argue that these three aspects were to become the genesis of future conflict in post Napoleon era. The French army was not only promoted by the nationalism ideology, but also by discipline. Before the French Revolution, Soldiers at the time were viewed as the dredger of society. Soldiers within Fredrick the Great s armies did not have loyalty. For example, Fredrick would send out troops for resources and his Soldiers often did not return; whereas Napoleon s troops would gather resources from the land and return. • 14. Feminist Perspective In Hamlet Throughout history, women have endured patriarchy and oppression. The re envisioning of literature in a feminist canon has reinvigorated lost works of women and has made clear themes of sexual difference and importance of gender within classical texts. In William Shakespeare s Hamlet, the feminist perspective reveals several elements of these societal differences that were so relevant in Elizabethan times. Although the play suggests an array of interpretations, the feminist perspective emphasizes the strength and significance of the feminine elements in this controversial piece of literature, mainly through the deterioration of Ophelia s psyche, the patriarchal relationships that admonish the component of power concerning gender, and the significant rhetoric that differentiates these roles. Within the feminist canon, the portrayal of the character Ophelia and her mental state in the play have resulted in a vast amount of discussion concerning how male dominated society, and its pressures, have affected women. Ophelia s insanity is not merely the inner workings of her mind derailing but the composite result of the repression underlying within the atmosphere of Elsinore. Specifically, in Act IV, Scene v where she is perceived to have gone insane conveys a multitude of ideas of what is the meaning of this outburst and its impact on gender perspectives. • 15. The Northanger Abbey And The Vicar Of Wakefield One question that comes up in older novels such as Northanger Abbey and The Vicar of Wakefield is that of the economy of love or more specifically marriage. Today, people take for granted that people get married for love and little else. The idea of marriage as an economic decision is a foreign and fascinating idea in today s society, but it was very prominent in Goldsmith s and Austen s times and that is reflected in their novels. Take first, Goldsmith s The Vicar of Wakefield and what role romantic love plays in the novel. The Vicar himself presents many different arguments about how his daughters should marry throughout the novel, some of these contradicting each other and very few of them in favor of love as a motive of marriage. At first, it seems that he wants his daughters to marry men of their own social class, and discourages his oldest from pursuing Mr. Thornhill on the basis that disproportioned friendships ever terminate in disgust (Goldsmith 15). He likewise rejects the benevolent Mr. Burchell as a suitor for his youngest daughter because ...he is poor, and perhaps deserves poverty; for he has neither the ambition to be independent, nor the skill to be useful (Goldsmith 17). Later, however, he looks more closely at the characters of his daughters respective suitors and seems to set aside, if not abandon altogether, the issue of marrying within one s own class. • 17. Human Nutrition And Its Effects On The Health Of Obese People Human nutrition is one of the vital topics discussed in the fields of health, largely because a diet predicts the well being of the human species. Recently, Americans have been eating a particularly hurtful diet, deficient in nutrients needed to maintain a healthy physiological state. A steady increase of obese and overweight people developed over the course of the last century to present day, and the issue has only recently gained the attention of the public. The cause for concern is due to the health of obese people. They have an increased risk for health complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, cardiac arrest, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cancer (specifically endometrial, kidney, and gallbladder), etc (Head 1 2). Obesity and overweight are ways to define a person with more than normal body fat, which is measured on the body mass index chart (Harvard School of Public Health). According to the Centers of Disease Control, an adult with a BMI between 25 kg/m2 and 29.9 kg/m2 is labeled overweight, making a BMI of over 30 kg/m2 the label for obesity. In children, overweight falls between the 85th and 95th percentile of BMI, with obesity being over the 95th percentile (CDC). In 2012, a total of 68.5% of the adult population is either obese or overweight, and the same qualifies for 16.9% of children (The State of Obesity). • 19. Gender Roles In Gold Diggers And Swing Time From Fortunes to Pennies: The Sexual Economics of Ginger Rogers Both Gold Diggers of 1933 (Busby Berkeley, 1933) and Swing Time (George Stevens, 1936) feature the now infamous Ginger Rogers in two very different roles. In Gold Diggers, she plays a supporting role as the chorus girl Fay Fortune, whereas in Swing Time, she is the top billed star playing the show business hopeful Penny Carol aside her perennial film and dance partner, Fred Astaire as show business veteran Lucky Garnett. These two Ginger Rogers roles provide insight into the socioeconomic roles women played in the societal landscape of the 1930s. By analyzing the same actress in two roles, one leading and one supporting, in two film musicals produced three years apart, we can isolate exactly what characteristics were fit for a leading lady at that point in film history. Upon close examination, many of the changes made from the supporting role of Fay to the leading role of Penny can boil down to two overarching themes: sexual repression and heterosexual coupling. A simple way to begin tracking this evolution is by considering the wardrobes of the two characters. Penny s wardrobe is very conservative. Her legs are almost always covered, even to the point of frustration as it often obscures the view of her spectacular dancing and intricate footwork. Also, she tends to wear very plain fabrics, and she is especially fond of white, which symbolically portrays the virginal, pure personality we associate with Penny. ... Instead of pointing the camera at your subjects, what you need to do is to compose an image. Framing is that very process of making forming composition. Framing techniques are very subjective. What one client finds to be moving may look pointless to someone else. What you need to look at are industry guidelines which you can refer to as your rules of thumb. The rules of video image framing are technically the same for those used in photography. Fundamental Shots There is a video industry convention which gives names to the common kinds of shots. Of course, you would not pay attention to the lower portion of the body, just his face till about his stomach. The medium close up is a shot that features the face more clearly. Extreme close up shots are those that show extreme details of a subject. The ECU should effectively convey emotion. The cutaway shot is that shot that gives you an idea of what is happening outside of the present action. This is often a different subject or, at times, a CU of a part of the subject. Jackie, who was the instructor of the Amistad, who spoke at Options, gave us background history about the boat. It was from this background history that I interpreted the boat was small and cramped. Even though I had not seen the boat in person, I believed it was tiny and restricted. My teachers at Options and my parents tried to convince me to go on the Amistad field trip. Elin offered me information about who was going on the trip, the food that was being ordered, and staff that were going. The Options staff that were traveling to see the ship were my teachers. My parents persuaded me by stating that this might be the only time I see a piece of history like this because the Amistad sails all over the country. The air is brisk and thin when I step out the door, my knees shivering as the bone chilling wind hits my wobbly legs. I look up to see the gray sky hiding the sun from the world. What a lovely day I mutter sarcastically to no one in particular. I look down at the cracked sidewalk and adjust my backpack straps and continue to walk to school. When I reach the school entrance, there are so many students that I HAVE to lift my head to avoid getting run into by the hundred of teenagers. There can be two methods of barbecuing, one of them is grilling in which the food comes directly in contact with the grill and the intention is to impart grill marks on the food. In the second method, the meat or vegetables chunks are threaded on skewers which are placed so that the heat from the coal cooks the food without actually coming in contact with the vessel. • 28. Conductivism Vs Inductivism There are multiple methods of scientific reasoning within philosophy. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks, but they all try to give us a more precise method to conduct scientific research. Deductivism is thought to take a broad generalization and make it more specific. This method is made up of premises which dictate whether or not the conclusion is true. Because the truth in the conclusion is based on the truth in premises, deductivism gives us certainty in its validity. When looking at something like eugenics, a scientist, such as Francis Galton, may make a statement like, all Jewish people are dumb, Barbra Streisand is Jewish, and therefore Barbra Streisand is dumb . The first two clauses are the premises of the statement and are simplifications of sentiments used heavily during the Holocaust as a means to justify the killing of mainly Jewish people. While the second premise, Barbra Streisand is Jewish, is a true statement, the first premise, all Jewish people are dumb is not. That is a broad generalization to make about a group of people and clearly has tragic or unsatisfactory consequences when applied. The inductivist approach uses multiple observations or experiences to make generalities about the world or how an event will go based off of passed identical observation. Operant conditioning can be argued to use the inductive approach. When a child does something good, they are then rewarded. When they do that same good thing again, they are once again rewarded, showing them they can get something positive out of the action of duty they performed. This will cause them to believe that if they always do this duty or task, then they will be rewarded every time. In inductivism, it only takes one time for the generalized outcome to not come to fruition for the whole theory to then be false. This method allows for a lot of observation which helps bring support to the theory, but due to the endless amount of observation, there is never certainty the generalization is false or true , just that it is more likely to occur. Falsification is the idea that a hypothesis must be able to be falsified. This does not mean that it will or that there are already doubts about the hypothesis, but that the ... Noise is considered to be the number one limiting factor of CT image quality. A novel decision based filter, called the wavelet based multiple thresholds switching (WMTS) filter, is used to restore images corrupted by salt pepper impulse noise. The filter is based on a detection estimation strategy. The salt and pepper noise detection algorithm is used before the filtering process, and therefore only the noise corrupted pixels are replaced with the estimated central noise free ordered mean value in the current filter window. The new impulse detector, which uses multiple thresholds with multiple neighborhood information of the signal in the filter window, is very precise, while avoiding an undue increase in ... The Impact Of The African-American Civil Rights Movement In the American Civil War, enslaved African Americans fought for their freedom and in 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery. Following the war, most African American still suffered racial segregation and discrimination for a long time. The fight against discrimination and segregation resulted in the Civil Rights Movement, which took place between 1954 and 1968. The African American Civil Rights movement, had changed the status of the black community forever and shaped the American politics. The movement resulted in the addition of several federal laws and Supreme Court cases. In the beginning of the 19th century, racial segregation laws were enforced in all public facilities, from schools to parks, restrooms, public transportation and restaurants, known as the Jim Crow laws. The laws called for separation of the black and white community, for instance black students were only allowed to attend to black schools. African Americans were constantly reminded of the laws with signs, such as Whites Only . Certainly, blacks were against the Jim Crow laws and were ready to act. In 1890, Louisiana passed a law, which required separate rail cars for blacks and whites. The law was challenged by a man, called Home Plessy and resulted in the Supreme Court case called Plessy vs. Ferguson. The court established that the segregation was fair if it was equal. People tend to live where there is moderate weather, such as Toronto, where there are mild winters and moderate summers. This affects Canada in many ways because this is one reason why many places in Canada are sparsely populate. The locations are too far north and aren t suitable and habitable for people. Environment has a vital significance on Canada s population distribution. People tend to live in areas where it is rich in soil and there is easy access to it. People live less in areas that have frozen land because you couldn t grow crops on frozen land. Moreover, we would have to import food from other countries which make products more expensive.
