Capital Markets And Strategic Issues Essay
Capital Markets and Strategic Issues in Fund Raising AAnswer Role of VCs in the company VC is a
type of private equity also a financing provided by firms to nascent stage, emerging firms that are
promising, show high growth potential (in terms of number of employees, annual revenue, or both).
VC firms invest in these mentioned companies in exchange of ownership stake. VCs take on the risk
of financing risky start ups thinking that some of the firms will be successful who they pursue. Start
ups are usually based on an innovative technology/business model and they are usually from the high
technology industries, such as information technology (IT), social media or biotechnology. In
exchange for high risk that venture capitalists assume by investing in smaller/startup companies, VCs
usually get significant control over company s management decisions, with companies ownership and
value. Obtaining VC is different from raising a loan. Lenders have a legal right to interest payment of
the principal irrespective of the business success/failure. VC is invested for an equity stake in the
business. The return of the VC as a shareholder depends on business growth /profit. Return is earned
when the venture capitalist exits . VCs are selective in deciding where to invest in; as a result, firms
are looking for the extremely rare yet sought after qualities such as innovative technology, potential
for rapid growth, a well developed business model and an impressive management team. Of

Since it s foundation in 1330, the capital city of Millares has grown from two villages into the massive

Feminsim And Wicc A Spiritual Correlation
FEMINSIM AND WICCA: A SPIRITUAL CORRELATION
Marisa Leonardi
Religion, Magic and Witchcraft

May 13, 2016
Introduction
Today there are a bounty of religions to choose from, from Christianity to Hinduism, and while some
religions have their roots deep into the people s history, there are some religions that are relatively
new . Wicca, in the United States, is a relatively new religion that has gained popularity in the
1960s/1970s when Raymond and Rosemary Buckland brought it overseas from the United Kingdom .
From then on the numbers of the Wicca practice grew, and at the same time as this happened another
important social movement was happening: feminism . Is it coincidence that Christian practitioners
would turn towards a freer, pagan religion to find their ground and empowerment? Or does the social,
feministic movement have a hand in this change?
What is Wicca?
But first, in order to address this spiritual correlation, it must be addressed what exactly Wicca is, and
where it came from. Wicca is the largest denomination of Paganism , which in short is one who does
not believe in a monotheistic faith, like Christianity , and could be traced back to a man named Gerald
Gardner, the so called founder of Wicca. His discontent with Christianity that fueled his creation of
Wicca . The religion took off from there, branching out and picking up momentum in the United
Kingdom, and then was later introduced into the United States by

Birmingham Jail Dbq
After being forced to work countless hours in the hot sun in a field for little to no wage and for it to be
finally be over, I would think that I would be treated as an equal in society. The Letter of Birmingham
Jail by Martin Luther explained the aftermath of segregation how it affected African Americans.
Segregation divided African Americans into three different groups those who benefitted from
segregation, resorted to violence due to segregation, or accepted segregation. African Americans
somehow had to gain social equality and still keep a harmless image in society. After relentless
attempts to get the government s attention so that they would take action against segregation, all the

There were so many attempts of negotiations at making a change segregation, but all the government
did was prolong action. Something had to be done that would force the government to take action.
Direct Action involved keeping the public safe as well as getting the attention that was needed so that
the government would be forced to make decisions towards segregation. Direct Action involved sit ins
like the one in 1955 at Baltimore, where a group of Morgan State University students wanted to
desegregate drug stores. After an hour and a half of siting in the business, the students left voluntarily,
but after multiple protests and sit ins the business was losing business and decided to make a decision
to serve everyone not mattering what race you were. Soon after local business and areas did the same.
Direct Action was the right way to protest that could have an impact on both the public and the
government. No longer could segregation be ignored, and the government would have to take

Harold And Maude Character Analysis
Warren Buffett once said It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think
about that, you will do things differently. The simplicity and accuracy of this quote may make a
person deeply question how they decide to react to what life gives them. In the movie Harold and
Maude, Harold is displayed as an odd boy who has a strange habit of enjoying to portray death, but
only to get a reaction from his mother. Harold did not always have this desire to scare his mother, but
one day when his mother was told of his death he enjoyed the reaction so much it changed how he
lived life. Warren Buffett may argue that Harold spent his entire life building a reputation for himself,

People similar to myself may be considered goody two shoes, if that is still a relevant saying. I think
about my past and there has never been a time when I deliberately wanted to bend the rules or felt
comfortable doing so. I consider myself a classical person. I enjoy understanding the mechanics
behind working systems, but find it hard to be spontaneous and go with the flow of things. I feel as if
the classical kind of person is more likely to struggle living an anti authoritarianism lifestyle due to the
fact that for underlying objects to work there must be structure. An example in reference to ZAMM
may be the common topic of motorcycles. John is very much pleased with his BMW because he loves
the aesthetics. The outer shell, or aesthetic, may be considered an authority. While the narrator of
ZAMM may be more intrigued with the underlying functions of the motorcycle, if there is no outer
shell to hold and protect it then the motorcycle will likely not be functioning. Similarly, if a classical
minded person, like myself, were to attempt to remove authority from my life I may malfunction. My
grades may drop because I have given up making specific scheduled time to do homework, which
would ultimately lead to a loss in career opportunities in the future. However, I am aware that not all

Terminology In Healthcare
The process of improvements in healthcare for the United States has been a continuous battle with
many obstacles and challenges. With that being said, our health care system is now relying on the
technology resources to develop and maintain an efficient electronic health record. Therefore, one of
the major benefits of having an electronic health records would be the advance interoperability to
communicate with other systems (Pamela K. Oachs, 2016). Although, one of the challenges with
effective data exchange is due to the many different ways that terminology is used in the healthcare

The Importance Of Education In The 1920 s
The 1920 s was an extravagant decade in American history. Many people had bought new items, such
as radios, and played the stock market without worrying about the loans they used for the new items
and stock market. The 1920 s also brought about change in the United States, such as women s
suffrage and Prohibition. Despite Prohibition making the consumption and possession of alcohol
illegal, many people went to speakeasies to drink alcohol. The government could not effectively
control the drug and alcohol use in the 1920 s, but it did have control over education. With the
government s ability to control education, it gained importance and attention in the 1920 s.

Persuasive Speech On Deforestation
Over half of the world s forests have been destroyed in the last 10,000 years. An extensive fire that
destroys a great deal of land or property could be thought to help benefit the economic or
environmental aspects of daily life, but the society is clueless on the harm it is causing. Nearly half of
the Earth s original forest cover has already been lost and each year an additional 32 million acres are
destroyed. Our world is facing the greatest extinction crisis since the fall of the dinosaurs, 65 million
years ago. The future of many of Earth s plants and animals will be determined within the next few
decades. Hopefully, it comes as no great surprise to you that deforestation is a major problem in many

Deforestation occurs primarily as a result of agriculture, fuel use and production, firewood, charcoal,
timber harvesting, pasture clearing for livestock animals, and expanding human settlements. When
deforestation happens to a country that you live in it can have a huge impact, These deforested areas
almost always end up as wastelands via the processes of soil erosion and desertification, if they aren t
reforested. Many of the areas of the world that were deforested thousands of years ago remain as
severely degraded wastelands or deserts today. Currently, the world s annual rate of deforestation is
estimated to be about 13.7 million hectares a year, which is roughly equal to the total land of Greece.
Half of the areas deforested gets reforested to some degree, but these new growth forests don t
function in the same ways, support the same biodiversity, nor do they provide the many benefits that
old growth forests do cause many societies to eventually collapse if they cannot come up with a better

A Shocking Account Of The Mentally Ill
In 2008, Marya Hornbacher decided to publish a shocking account of her battle with bipolar disorder.
It is not a romantic, happy ending story. It is the real life account of what many people with bipolar
struggle with every day. Unlike many people, Hornbacher had her family by her side every step of the
way. Throughout the book she reaches dark and dreary places that no one wants to live though, let
alone read about. However she always emerges on the other side with the help of her family. This
book embodies the struggle of the mentally ill, as well as the importance of family: it is an important

In Hornbaucher s case she turned to anorexia nervosa, an eating disorder, and after that to alcoholism.
In the book the author says, No longer low, not yet too high. Just on a roll, energetic, inspired. I truly
believe the booze is helping. (29) This is not unusual for bipolar patients. The rate of alcohol abuse for
men that suffer from bipolar is three times higher than the rest of the population and seven times
higher for women (284). The next part of the book is the hardest part of the book for the author, it is
the realization that she is actually very sick. She is hospitalized multiple times, put on many
medications and different types of therapy. Nevertheless, her disorder is never fully under control. At
the end, Hornbacher meets a special man that sees past her disease and helps her to manage her
disorder with the help of her family. While this book has no pictures or graphics thorough out, it does
not feel as if it is missing anything. The only graphic that comes with the book is on the cover itself. It
is a picture of the author herself, Marya Hornbacher, surrounded by flames. The photo is a strong
image that draws attention to the book right away. The book is divided into sections this mimics the
struggle at different points in her life with the disorder. It is then further broken up into months and
years. This book is different from most in that it is written by someone who is very clearly manic

The Impact Of Japanese American Internment
On February 10 1942, After the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt

attack the US. The president ordered all Japanese Americans to evacuate the west coast. Following the
internment, many news articles had been written. For this essay, I have found two news articles that
are connected to the constitutional issues that arose because of Executive order 9066. The news
articles are from the Los Angeles times and New York Times. Both articles covered the constitutional
issues of the internment of Japanese Americans; however, both articles addressed different situations.

Democratic leaders planned to force votes before the session ends on a measure recommended by the
interior department s setting up a three man commission to compensate evacuees for real estate and
other property losses incurred when they were evacuated , which shows that President Truman and the
Democrats party tried to end the allegation by signing the Japanese American Evacuation Claims Act.
Eventually, Congress accepted the bill which was unexpected by many people. The President gave his

Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution In China
Introduction It is very obvious to notice the impact of climate change in my hometown, China. I was
born in Shanghai in 1998, when I was a child, it was not a fresh news when people saw the blue skies.
But now, it is. Currently, almost every adult around me is talking about air pollution issue. Filtering
face masks and air purifiers which can be placed in homes are two popular goods. Although everyone
understands that this issue is very serious, it seems that no one can explain it clearly in details. Since
the influence of climate change in China is a fairly wide range of topic, I choose to mainly discuss air
pollution as a result of it closely relating to the quality of people s daily life which people have to
breathe every minute. At the beginning of twenty first century, the carbon dioxide emission in China
continue boosting to higher points, and also currently, China is suffering from one of the worst air
pollution in the world. The serious air pollution brings direct and indirect danger threatening the
population health. Scholars from different perspectives, such as economic, healthy and ecological all
strongly recommend that China need to reduce air pollution. Both a few policies from both federal
government and municipal government were implemented, but sadly, the predicational outcome may
not as satisfying as them should be.

The Plight Of The RMS Lusitania Summary
The Plight of the RMS Lusitania It is an overcast evening, yet sunlight pours through a hole in the
layers upon layers of clouds. There is a small party on board the RMS Lusitania, and the Cunard Line
s captain assigned for the vessel, William Turner, is standing in uniform, facing towards America. He
raises a glass of port to a safe voyage, and the whole room follows suit. The chamber orchestra begins
to play a fast paced, lighthearted tune. You are a war correspondent, and you believe that something is
astray with Will Turner. 30 minutes into the festivities, the captain disappears. Nobody notices but
you, of course, because you vowed not to drink a drop of spirit in your life at 12 years, and have held
true to that promise for 24 years running. You can t help but notice, however, that he left quite
abruptly, in a queer manner, and without pretense. Prior to this, he was nervous, checking his pocket
watch frequently. You didn t suspect anything, but stayed wary. He returned quickly, and in good time,
called off the ceremonies. You resign to your small room on the 2nd highest deck, hoping to catch
some sleep, for the next day of the trip is just as strenuous and arduous as the past one. Suddenly, you
feel a jolt and the door hits the wall. Nobody is there but an awfully conveniently timed steward, who
checks if all the 1st class passengers are unharmed. Annoyed and perplexed, you walk briskly to the

Speech On Frequency Hopping
Frequency hopping, which is used in WiFi, was invented by Hedy Lamar in 1942. She was an actress

beauty. She wanted to be known for her intelligence. When she invented frequency hopping she
displayed it to the navy and they declined it, and she sold her paten away. Later in her life the navy did
use it, and then it became WiFi. She died soon after. WiFi is the best invention and most useful in the
world to me for a lot of reasons. It makes your phone go ten times faster. When you aren t connected
to wifi then it takes about thirty seconds for a video to play, or it takes a minute for a text to send. That
might seem short but when you are connected to wifi it makes everything faster. It takes a video to

Is Guatemala A Developing Country
A developing country is an impoverished country that is seeking to become more advanced
economically and socially. Guatemala is very much so in the position of a developing country. As one
who lives in the United States of America, it is often times hard to understand what this exactly
means. The majority of people born and raised in America will never experience the same situations
that those from a developing country will experience. The cultural lifestyle of Guatemalans is much
different than Americans because of the experiences they observe or participate in each day. Although
Guatemala has not been successful in the aspects of society or economics, they are in the process of
ameliorating. Guatemala is a particularly large country in South America. The country s terrain is
dominated by mountains with narrow coastal plains, limestone plateaus, and volcanoes and jungles.
The current population of Guatemala is 17,033,253 as of November 2017, according to the latest
United Nations estimates (Guatemala Population (LIVE), 2017). The capital of the country is
Guatemala City. For the past years, the politicians have been extremely corrupt. In 2016, Jimmy

neither corrupt not a thief . Because the people of Guatemala were beyond ready for a change in

Sphinx Research Paper

A Statue of a Sphinx (Object E12326) A sphinx is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the
head of a human. These creatures were built as sculptures near the temples as guardians. A sphinx
symbolizes the intelligence of man united with the physical dominance of a lion (Giblin 121). The
sphinx is a purely Egyptian creation, that was first started in the 4th dynasty at about 2575 BCE
(Giblin 23). In Egypt sphinxes were generally associated with the sun god and with the king as a
living image. (Zivie Coche 148). The sun god was a vital part of Egyptian theology in almost every
dynasty. The sun disk God, Aten became the monotheistic focus of Egyptian theology while Re and
Atun were very prominent Egyptian gods that also represented the sun. Whenever sphinxes were
placed in front of Egyptian temples, they had a solar symbol or significance attached to it.
The Granite Sphinx of Ramses II wears a headdress and false beard to signify representation of a king
and serves as a protective entity to temples and pyramids. The false beard was tied to the divinity of
the Pharaoh (Redford 308). The beard is an innovation of the New Kingdom and did not exist during

their hold on current markets while giving them the potential to grow into neighboring territories.
Introduction to the Northeast is critically important because as of now they are ceding the whole
region to rival competitors like Samuel Adams. The pluses to this second brewery include additional
capacity for production of beers, wider reach of distribution, and ultimately higher sales due the
territorial growth. The minuses include a possible loss of company culture at the new brewery due to
its distance from Fort Collins. Another minus would be the loyalty current consumers have for
regional craft beers already in the market. However these minuses can be addressed by implementing
a couple different measures. First, in order to acquaint New Belgium products into new markets, the
company should employ a specialized sales team that will go into local bars and pubs and buy New
Belgium products for locals. This will begin the grassroots campaign which New Belgium

Examples Of Love In Lanval
Throughout the lais Lanval, there has been two examples of courtly love that I have noticed. Both of
the courtly love s that are presented in the story are from two different perspectives and they also are a
part of the main story plot. The first love was between Queen Semiramis and Lanval (Norton
Anthology pg. 1034). In this instant, this love is presented of a perfect and secret love. Lanval and
Queen Semiramis share a love that is supposed to be hidden instead of flaunted throughout the lands.
The Queen sends Lanval home and tells him not to boast about this love and that if he will, he will
lose his love. The second courtly love that is presented in Lanval is the love between the King s wife,
another Queen, and Lanval once again (Norton

Archetypal Journey In Little Miss Sunshine And As I Lay Dying
Seven year old Olive Hoover gets a call saying she has qualified for a pageant in California. The entire
family comes together and sets off from Albuquerque to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. Her family,
which consists of her mother Sheryl, her father, Richard who is a motivational speaker, brother
Dwayne who is quiet, her grandfather Edwin, who has trained her for the pageant, and her uncle Frank
who just came who from attempting to kill himself. On their journey, they face difficulties that

The hero of this film is the father, Richard Hoover. his purpose for going on this journey is to change.
He has put his work life in front of his family, and through this his goal is to get closer to his family. In
comparison to our model, he is most similar to Jewel Bundren. Both characters are abusive towards
their family, one of the strongest members, and something is above their family; for Jewel it is his
horse, and as stated earlier, Richard it is his job (Typeset World). Sheryl Hoover can be looked at as a
shape shifter, in relation to her loving her husband, but then at times be completely frustrated with him
and wanting a divorce (Archetypes). She is most relatable to Anse Bundren, the father of the Bundren
s. Both of them are quite and can never stick with their decisions. Both of them promised their family
members, and also take their children on their crazy journey. Looking at Olive Hoover, she would be
considered the child since she is innocent and completely unaware of her surrounding, like when Stan
attempted to kill himself (Character Archetypes). Olive is quite similar to the youngest Bundren,
Vardaman. Both children are innocent and are naive to what is going on in their lives. For example,
Olive s innocence is shown when she asks about Stan s bandages; she says, Why did you want to kill
yourself unaware of his situation (Little Miss Sunshine Script). This is similar to Vardaman asking
Why ain t I a town boy since he is not cognisant of the outside world (Faulkner 66). One of the most
closely related characters in Little Miss Sunshine and our archetypal model, As I Lay Dying, is
Grandpa Edwin Hoover and Addie Bundren. Both are a curse to their family in their traveling (Typeset
World). They would both be considered the world; they are showing the an ending of a cycle of life ,

Description of the American Electorate and Changes in Its...
United States of America has a democratic political system with two major parties: Democratic and
Republican. This research paper will provide the insight on the social and cultural characteristics of
both Republican and Democratic loyalists as well as uncommitted middle. Many changes occurred in
the behavior of American electorate since 1952, however, some trends remain today. The existence of
the Electoral College affects the campaigns of the presidential candidates. This paper will also analyse
the concerns of citizens with this system and whether it is beneficial for candidates and reveals the
true choice of the population.

In addition, recent researches prove that party identification is stable and does not change very often.
The Republican loyalists Protestants valuing traditions, tend to identify themselves with this party for
a lasting time for many generations. Family traditions, the set life style and family business
continuation are cultural characteristics of Republicans. Democrats, on the contrary favor changes in
all fields of life. They are more open to change job positions and move to another place, providing
more freedom of choice to their children. Today, Republicans have more support from American
citizens.
There are factors which do not influence party identity and which are independent on social grouping
or cultural values. For several decades there have been little change at both aggregate and individual
level on party identification. The state of economy and performance of the president does not change
or determine party loyalty. However, party loyalties have a powerful influence on citizens positions in
key issues and voting decisions. The most important notion is that party identification is based mainly
on identification with social grouping rather than on evaluation of party s ideology or policy. People
ask themselves two questions: What kind of social groups comes to my mind when I think about
Republicans, Independents and Democrats? Which group best describes me?

Cassius as Tragic Hero in Julius Caesar Essay
Cassius as Tragic Hero in Julius Caesar
William Shakespeare wrote Julius Caesar around 1599. The role of the `tragic hero is extremely
important as many of the characters in Julius Caesar exemplify the `tragic hero qualities. Marcus
Brutus, and Julius Caesar, display all the qualities of the `tragic hero : they are great men, with
character flaws, and as a result of a mistake in decision making many people suffer. In Cassius one can
see these same qualities. Cassius can be seen as another tragic hero in Shakespeare s Julius Caesar.

end war erupts and the people end up being no better off than they were under Caesar s rule, one could

The qualities a tragic hero, in Shakespeare s plays, normally displays consists of the hero falling from
a place of glory, or rank, or happiness. We are astounded by the extent to which they fall, or allow
themselves to stoop. The resulting catastrophe from the hero s mistake is of monumental proportions.
With the discussed play Julius Caesar, Cassius exhibits Jealousy, Rashness, and Impulsive behaviour.
Cassius makes mistakes, each with a disastrous effect.
The play Julius Caesar may be considered a failure as a tragedy: although many characters display
tragic hero properties, the play does not.

Women On The Front Line
Society has built a stereotype that says women are inherently weaker than men. This has limited
women s chances to get ahead, but people are not standing idly by instead they are pushing for women
to get equal opportunity. Some of these advancements are that women now have the right to vote, to
own their property, and get jobs. However, not all jobs are available to women such as combat
positions in the military. Combat positions or chances on the front line are unavailable to women
because they are depicted as fragile and in need of protection. Women deserve the opportunity to try to
gain their placement on the front line because women can be just as strong as men and they are willing
to fight. The military is denying women the opportunity

Improving Efficiency with Business Process Modeling
In order for businesses to be successful, they must find out what the customer wants and meet that
need. This can be difficult when dealing with the ever evolving trends of today s society. Businesses
must remain flexible and constantly be experimenting with new technology and ideas to better provide
their services to the customer. To help accomplish this goal, Business Process Modeling can be used to
provide a solution, to help refine and organize business processes, which may in return make the
business more efficient.
A key feature of any successful business is how the business provides its services to customers. This is
often done through business processes, a collection of organized tasks or activities that are intended to
accomplish a specific goal. (Pittarese, 2014) These tasks may encompass different functional areas
and are designed to create value for the customer. (Pittarese, 2014) Though a business is successful
and may have been around for quite some time, they often find the need to update their business
processes, in order to keep up with customer demands, technological advances, and to improve
efficiency within their company. One way of doing this could be through business process modeling, a
tool used by businesses to create a diagram of the various business processes and actions that are
carried out within a company.
In order to create a business process model, a business must first identify and create the current
business process model, which is

Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside...
Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of examples
on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge different on

remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not seem that hard to
implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can be a big deal for any
organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and innovative ideas that future
healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of the key points highlighted were
to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to tackle issues as they come up and
not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all staff working together as a team rather
than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations 2.0 by Gerald C. Kane, Robert G. Fichman,
John Gallaugher, and John Glaser was the article that I found to be the most interesting and applicable

ways that administration in health care systems can combat issues that arise online. It also discussed

Civil War And The Black Suffrage
Post Civil War, Northern women became increasingly active in the Black suffrage movements in the
North. They strategized that by enforcing the right of suffrage for African Americans they would
automatically receive the right to vote. Their calculations were based off of the hierarchal rules
implied by the Jim Crow South. During the Jim Crow Era, segregationists feared that reconstruction
would mess with the inherent order of their society by making Black men equal to White men and
beneath them allowing Black women to be equal to White women. Their restoration period stressed
that the gender/racial hierarchy be preserved as follows: White men, White women, Black men, and
then Black women. The Northern women assumed that there was no way they would give Black men
the right to vote without giving White women the right to vote first, since they were higher up on Jim
Crow s hierarchy. However, their initial plan was unfeasible due to mutual disagreement amongst men
in regards to women s suffrage. Even the radical men believed that supporting women s suffrage was
pushing things too far and risked the nullification of the fourteenth amendment. Regardless of, they
pushed for its ratification.
In 1873 Suzan B. Anthony led the women to go up to the polls to cast votes as a form of protest. Their
plan was to go to the polls, get turned away, then sue on behalf of the fourteenth amendment which
equally protected them. To their dismay, Anthony was not turned away but instead was

How Did Thucydides Contribute To The Peloponnesian War
Thucydides, an Athenian who lived during the Peloponnesian War (431 404 BC), may be one of the
earliest western war theorists thanks to his work, History of the Peloponnesian War. His history
described the conflict between ancient Athens and Sparta. In doing so, he authored one of the most
balanced and powerful explanations of the causes of war.
Thucydides, linked to the Athenian aristocracy, enjoyed a wealthy upbringing and education as a
youth. As an adult, he served as a commander for Athens. He witnessed a number speeches, debates,
and events or heard them second hand that decided the many courses the war would take. This all
bears out in the articulate, informed narrative of the war from tactical through strategic levels.
Surprisingly, Thucydides maintained an objective perspective through much of his history. One
assumes that as an Athenian, he would take a pro Athens approach. However, two reasons provide
balance and significance to his work. First, following the loss ... Show more content on

Research Paper On Trench Warfare
Trench Warfare
Trench Warfare created a harsh and dangerous living environment for men. The trenches were under
continuous threat from shells or other dangerous weapons and there were also many health risks which
developed into larger problems for doctors. Apart from the unavoidable cold during the winters,
trenches were often completely waterlogged and muddy infested with lice and rats.
What is Trench Warfare?
Trench Warfare is a type of fighting where both sides build deep holes in the ground. These holes in
the ground are known as trenches. These deep trenches are used a defence against the enemy. These
trenches can stretch for many kilometres and they make it almost impossible for one side to move
closer or towards their opposition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a front line, also known as the Main Fire Trench, which faces the enemy. The front line
allows you to view over enemy lines. The front line is dug in different sections rather than being dug
in one straight line, so if a shell were to explode inside one of these sections, or any enemy were to get
into one of these sections, it would not affect the whole front line but just that particular section.
Behind the front line you get the support line. It is similarly made to the front line. In the support line
you would find dugouts that are cut into one side of the trench wall. These dugouts were often quite
small, having enough room for only three or four men to use as shelter. No man s land was the space
between the two opposing trenches. It had a large amount of barbed wire and it was a piece of
unoccupied land. No Man s land was heavily guarded by both sniper and machine gun fire and
soldiers were forced to cross this piece of land to look out for the enemies positions.
Life in the trenches:
Soldiers rotated through three stages of the front. They would spend time in the front line trenches, in
the support trenches, as well as some time in resting. The soldiers were always busy whether they
were repairing the trenches, on guard duty, moving supplies and equipment, undergoing inspections or
cleaning their weapons.

most popular girls at her school, but is very good at keeping secrets and hiding how she feels inside.
She goes through a major moment of psychological development when her and Quentin discover a
man who has shot himself. This is proven when Quentin recounts a childhood story of her, when he
talks to her for the first time in nine years, and when he truly attempts to empathise with her. At the
beginning of the book, Quentin narrates a story of when he and Margo were nine years old. They had
came across a man who had committed suicide. Margo tried to become a detective, and get all the
information she could about the man they had seen. That night she relayed her new found clues from
the investigation. She was obsessed with the puzzle. After this flashback, Quentin thinks to himself,
Margo always loved mysteries. And in everything that came afterward, I could never stop thinking
that maybe she loved mysteries so much she became one (Green, 8). This quote supports the statement
that Margo is very secretive, because Quentin, who has known her since childhood, knows ... Show

Quentin was constantly looking at her and thinking of her, but acted like a fly on the wall. One night,
Margo needs help with something, so she goes into Quentin s room. It seems like an ordinary day to
Quentin, until, ...just before midnight, when Margo Roth Spiegelman slid open my screenless
bedroom window for the first time since telling me to close it nine years before (Green, 24). The
events that occurred when they were children were so scarring for Margo, she was not able to even
interact with Quentin for almost a decade. This disconnection proves that the psychological changes
Margo went through haunted her enough to change her

  • 2. Capital Markets And Strategic Issues Essay Capital Markets and Strategic Issues in Fund Raising AAnswer Role of VCs in the company VC is a type of private equity also a financing provided by firms to nascent stage, emerging firms that are promising, show high growth potential (in terms of number of employees, annual revenue, or both). VC firms invest in these mentioned companies in exchange of ownership stake. VCs take on the risk of financing risky start ups thinking that some of the firms will be successful who they pursue. Start ups are usually based on an innovative technology/business model and they are usually from the high technology industries, such as information technology (IT), social media or biotechnology. In exchange for high risk that venture capitalists assume by investing in smaller/startup companies, VCs usually get significant control over company s management decisions, with companies ownership and value. Obtaining VC is different from raising a loan. Lenders have a legal right to interest payment of the principal irrespective of the business success/failure. VC is invested for an equity stake in the business. The return of the VC as a shareholder depends on business growth /profit. Return is earned when the venture capitalist exits . VCs are selective in deciding where to invest in; as a result, firms are looking for the extremely rare yet sought after qualities such as innovative technology, potential for rapid growth, a well developed business model and an impressive management team. Feminsim And Wicc A Spiritual Correlation FEMINSIM AND WICCA: A SPIRITUAL CORRELATION Marisa Leonardi Religion, Magic and Witchcraft Professors Palshikar and Mehta May 13, 2016 Introduction Today there are a bounty of religions to choose from, from Christianity to Hinduism, and while some religions have their roots deep into the people s history, there are some religions that are relatively new . Wicca, in the United States, is a relatively new religion that has gained popularity in the 1960s/1970s when Raymond and Rosemary Buckland brought it overseas from the United Kingdom . From then on the numbers of the Wicca practice grew, and at the same time as this happened another important social movement was happening: feminism . Is it coincidence that Christian practitioners would turn towards a freer, pagan religion to find their ground and empowerment? Or does the social, feministic movement have a hand in this change? What is Wicca? But first, in order to address this spiritual correlation, it must be addressed what exactly Wicca is, and where it came from. Wicca is the largest denomination of Paganism , which in short is one who does not believe in a monotheistic faith, like Christianity , and could be traced back to a man named Gerald Gardner, the so called founder of Wicca. His discontent with Christianity that fueled his creation of Wicca . The religion took off from there, branching out and picking up momentum in the United Kingdom, and then was later introduced into the United States by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Letter of Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther explained the aftermath of segregation how it affected African Americans. Segregation divided African Americans into three different groups those who benefitted from segregation, resorted to violence due to segregation, or accepted segregation. African Americans somehow had to gain social equality and still keep a harmless image in society. Direct Action involved sit ins like the one in 1955 at Baltimore, where a group of Morgan State University students wanted to desegregate drug stores. After an hour and a half of siting in the business, the students left voluntarily, but after multiple protests and sit ins the business was losing business and decided to make a decision to serve everyone not mattering what race you were. I enjoy understanding the mechanics behind working systems, but find it hard to be spontaneous and go with the flow of things. I feel as if the classical kind of person is more likely to struggle living an anti authoritarianism lifestyle due to the fact that for underlying objects to work there must be structure. An example in reference to ZAMM may be the common topic of motorcycles. John is very much pleased with his BMW because he loves the aesthetics. The outer shell, or aesthetic, may be considered an authority. While the narrator of ZAMM may be more intrigued with the underlying functions of the motorcycle, if there is no outer shell to hold and protect it then the motorcycle will likely not be functioning. Similarly, if a classical minded person, like myself, were to attempt to remove authority from my life I may malfunction. Despite Prohibition making the consumption and possession of alcohol illegal, many people went to speakeasies to drink alcohol. Throughout the book she reaches dark and dreary places that no one wants to live though, let alone read about. However she always emerges on the other side with the help of her family. This book embodies the struggle of the mentally ill, as well as the importance of family: it is an important read for anyone that has a family member struggling with bipolar disorder. The rate of alcohol abuse for men that suffer from bipolar is three times higher than the rest of the population and seven times higher for women (284). The next part of the book is the hardest part of the book for the author, it is the realization that she is actually very sick. The Impact Of Japanese American Internment On February 10 1942, After the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive order 9066 fearing that the Japanese Americans would be more loyal to Japan and attack the US. The president ordered all Japanese Americans to evacuate the west coast. Following the internment, many news articles had been written. For this essay, I have found two news articles that are connected to the constitutional issues that arose because of Executive order 9066. I was born in Shanghai in 1998, when I was a child, it was not a fresh news when people saw the blue skies. But now, it is. Currently, almost every adult around me is talking about air pollution issue. Filtering face masks and air purifiers which can be placed in homes are two popular goods. Although everyone understands that this issue is very serious, it seems that no one can explain it clearly in details. Since the influence of climate change in China is a fairly wide range of topic, I choose to mainly discuss air pollution as a result of it closely relating to the quality of people s daily life which people have to breathe every minute. At the beginning of twenty first century, the carbon dioxide emission in China continue boosting to higher points, and also currently, China is suffering from one of the worst air pollution in the world. The serious air pollution brings direct and indirect danger threatening the population health. Scholars from different perspectives, such as economic, healthy and ecological all strongly recommend that China need to reduce air pollution. Both a few policies from both federal government and municipal government were implemented, but sadly, the predicational outcome may not as satisfying as them should be. There is a small party on board the RMS Lusitania, and the Cunard Line s captain assigned for the vessel, William Turner, is standing in uniform, facing towards America. He raises a glass of port to a safe voyage, and the whole room follows suit. The chamber orchestra begins to play a fast paced, lighthearted tune. You are a war correspondent, and you believe that something is astray with Will Turner. 30 minutes into the festivities, the captain disappears. Nobody notices but you, of course, because you vowed not to drink a drop of spirit in your life at 12 years, and have held true to that promise for 24 years running. You can t help but notice, however, that he left quite abruptly, in a queer manner, and without pretense. Prior to this, he was nervous, checking his pocket watch frequently. You didn t suspect anything, but stayed wary. He returned quickly, and in good time, called off the ceremonies. • 19. Sphinx Research Paper Olufemi Palmer Dr. Josef Wegner NELC 062 3 March 2017 A Statue of a Sphinx (Object E12326) A sphinx is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. These creatures were built as sculptures near the temples as guardians. A sphinx symbolizes the intelligence of man united with the physical dominance of a lion (Giblin 121). The sphinx is a purely Egyptian creation, that was first started in the 4th dynasty at about 2575 BCE (Giblin 23). In Egypt sphinxes were generally associated with the sun god and with the king as a living image. (Zivie Coche 148). The sun god was a vital part of Egyptian theology in almost every dynasty. The sun disk God, Aten became the monotheistic focus of Egyptian theology while Re and Atun were very prominent Egyptian gods that also represented the sun. Whenever sphinxes were placed in front of Egyptian temples, they had a solar symbol or significance attached to it. The Granite Sphinx of Ramses II wears a headdress and false beard to signify representation of a king and serves as a protective entity to temples and pyramids. The false beard was tied to the divinity of the Pharaoh (Redford 308). The beard is an innovation of the New Kingdom and did not exist during the Old or the Middle Kingdom (Zivie Coche 148). Many ... Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of examples on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge different on operations. This compilation not only provided exceptionally informative articles, but also many charts, graphs, and other depictions to back up the points the contributors were making. Many of the remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not seem that hard to implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can be a big deal for any organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and innovative ideas that future healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of the key points highlighted were to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to tackle issues as they come up and not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all staff working together as a team rather than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations 2.0 by Gerald C. Kane, Robert G. Fichman, John Gallaugher, and John Glaser was the article that I found to be the most interesting and applicable to current events in health care. They discussed how the internet and social media affect changes and ways that administration in health care systems can combat issues that arise online. It also discussed some of the positives of contemporary technologies and how crucial it is to have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bounty hunters are people who catches criminals who have not been caught by the police in exchange for a reward. A modern bounty hunter do not kill the criminal, which is different from old western bail enforcement agents of the 1800 s. The reason why I choose this career is because I currently work as a process server at Legal Papers Inc. The roles of a process server and bounty hunter are different but in some ways very similar. • 34. Civil War And The Black Suffrage Post Civil War, Northern women became increasingly active in the Black suffrage movements in the North. They strategized that by enforcing the right of suffrage for African Americans they would automatically receive the right to vote. Their calculations were based off of the hierarchal rules implied by the Jim Crow South. During the Jim Crow Era, segregationists feared that reconstruction would mess with the inherent order of their society by making Black men equal to White men and beneath them allowing Black women to be equal to White women. Their restoration period stressed that the gender/racial hierarchy be preserved as follows: White men, White women, Black men, and then Black women. The Northern women assumed that there was no way they would give Black men the right to vote without giving White women the right to vote first, since they were higher up on Jim Crow s hierarchy. However, their initial plan was unfeasible due to mutual disagreement amongst men in regards to women s suffrage. Even the radical men believed that supporting women s suffrage was pushing things too far and risked the nullification of the fourteenth amendment. Regardless of, they pushed for its ratification. In 1873 Suzan B. Anthony led the women to go up to the polls to cast votes as a form of protest. Their plan was to go to the polls, get turned away, then sue on behalf of the fourteenth amendment which equally protected them. To their dismay, Anthony was not turned away but instead was ... • 35. How Did Thucydides Contribute To The Peloponnesian War Thucydides, an Athenian who lived during the Peloponnesian War (431 404 BC), may be one of the earliest western war theorists thanks to his work, History of the Peloponnesian War. His history described the conflict between ancient Athens and Sparta. In doing so, he authored one of the most balanced and powerful explanations of the causes of war. Thucydides, linked to the Athenian aristocracy, enjoyed a wealthy upbringing and education as a youth. As an adult, he served as a commander for Athens. He witnessed a number speeches, debates, and events or heard them second hand that decided the many courses the war would take. This all bears out in the articulate, informed narrative of the war from tactical through strategic levels. Surprisingly, Thucydides maintained an objective perspective through much of his history. One assumes that as an Athenian, he would take a pro Athens approach. However, two reasons provide balance and significance to his work. First, following the loss ... Each power made strategic decisions in different ways. The Athenians set and adjusted the course of the war through open debate and voting while the Spartan oligarchy under a king cast the final decisions. Additionally, each state s economic nature affected their military character. The agrarian Sparta formed a dominant landpower while the seafaring Athenians cultivated a powerful navy. Further, though a small theater of operations compared to modern standards, time and space affected the course and nature of the war. Analysis Of Theresa Hak Kyung Cha Before her untimely death at the age of 31, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha was a promising innovator of experimental film, slide projections, sculpture, audio recordings, performance art, and poetry. Her work challenges assumptions about history, narrative, language, and in particular conceptions of immigrants; through powerful and often dislocating ideological and grammatical in derogations of cultural, geographic, and social positions, she recuperates an alternative sense of self and identity in a postcolonial, feminist, racially marked world. Her experiments with the sense of displacement and fragmentation mark an important stage in postmodernist, multicultural, and feminist writing. The trenches were under continuous threat from shells or other dangerous weapons and there were also many health risks which developed into larger problems for doctors. Apart from the unavoidable cold during the winters, trenches were often completely waterlogged and muddy infested with lice and rats. What is Trench Warfare? Trench Warfare is a type of fighting where both sides build deep holes in the ground. These holes in the ground are known as trenches. These deep trenches are used a defence against the enemy. There is a front line, also known as the Main Fire Trench, which faces the enemy. The front line allows you to view over enemy lines. The front line is dug in different sections rather than being dug in one straight line, so if a shell were to explode inside one of these sections, or any enemy were to get into one of these sections, it would not affect the whole front line but just that particular section. Behind the front line you get the support line. It is similarly made to the front line. In the support line you would find dugouts that are cut into one side of the trench wall. These dugouts were often quite small, having enough room for only three or four men to use as shelter. No man s land was the space between the two opposing trenches. It had a large amount of barbed wire and it was a piece of unoccupied land. No Man s land was heavily guarded by both sniper and machine gun fire and soldiers were forced to cross this piece of land to look out for the enemies positions. Life in the trenches: Soldiers rotated through three stages of the front. They would spend time in the front line trenches, in the support trenches, as well as some time in resting. • 42. Paper Towns Psychology The book Paper Towns, by John Green, follows the story of a seemingly invisible, love sick boy named Quentin, on his journey to find the girl he has admired since childhood. Margo is one of the most popular girls at her school, but is very good at keeping secrets and hiding how she feels inside. She goes through a major moment of psychological development when her and Quentin discover a man who has shot himself. This is proven when Quentin recounts a childhood story of her, when he talks to her for the first time in nine years, and when he truly attempts to empathise with her. At the beginning of the book, Quentin narrates a story of when he and Margo were nine years old. They had came across a man who had committed suicide. Margo tried to become a detective, and get all the information she could about the man they had seen. That night she relayed her new found clues from the investigation. She was obsessed with the puzzle. After this flashback, Quentin thinks to himself, Margo always loved mysteries. And in everything that came afterward, I could never stop thinking that maybe she loved mysteries so much she became one (Green, 8).
