Cuban Culture Essay
Pedraza (1998), Professor of Sociology of the University of Michigan, in her research stated that the
Cuban migration have been analyzed through the years, with emphasis on how Cubans, as immigrants,
incorporate their traditions in American society, in comparison to other immigrant groups in the
United States. In addition, she emphasized that Cuban migration waves are a revolution result, not
only political and economic, but also cognitive and emotive. Today, the Cuban community in the
United States is particularly heterogeneous, with dramatic contrasts in social characteristics and
political apathy. The first wave of immigrants, the golden exile, established an economic and cultural

Richard Cameron Conformism
Richard Cameron is one of the most conformist and eventually antagonistic characters in the Dead
Poets society. He is one of few who takes the traditionalist mentality at Welton Academy to heart and
idealizes Mr. Nolan s preparatory teachings. Cameron is invited to join the Dead poets society and
does so, but with notably less enthusiasm than some of his peers. Even here, while on the surface it
may appear a nonconformist act to join this group that Keating already said would not be looked upon
favorably from the current administration, Cameron only joined this group because his closest
associates prompted the action. Cameron would not have taken the first move to actually reconvene
the group like nonconformist Neil Perry, and thus Cameron s ... Show more content on

He must be fully exonerated and the school making him a scapegoat for Neil s death has no basis is
facts and is a criminal act. Keating, as an English professor, is meant to open Neil s mind to
individuality and freedom. This teacher, especially in the subject of English, is supposed to expand the
students creativity and teach them to think for themselves. Keating only did his job to the best of his
ability, and the fact that he had such a large impact of Neil and some other students reflects on how
well he was doing his job, and not that he is to blame for Neil s death. While it could be argued that
Neil had no life threatening or rebellious episodes against his father or his school until Keating began
to teach, this is more of a statement on the ineffectiveness of the previous teachers. The fact that Neil
begins to take control of his life shows how Keating has inspired Neil to think for himself, which is
the purpose Keating s job. The fact that previous teachers failed to do this should not reflect poorly on
Keating, nor should it be a cause for his guilt. Further evidence against Keating s guilt is that Neil
attempts to stand up his father in the beginning of the film, before he meets Keating. This attitude was
already present in Neil, and Keating only gave Neil more self assurance, and thus he is not to blame.
Keating is innocent in Neil s death, as he only did his job to the best of his ability, and outside factors
such as Neil s father provided the circumstances for Neil s feeling of hopelessness and eventual

Communications Is A Service Provider With Multiple...
RR communications is a service provider with multiple business segments. The key line of their
business include internet, mobile, landline and cable TV services. Currently company operates its four
key lines of business individually (Multiple sales systems, databases and customer service centers).
According to the building shared services at RR communications case study there are two main
problems RR communications facing. The first one is no central IT system and the second problem is
corporate politics. Company s vice president of IT, Vince Patton, trying to create a centralized IT
organization. In order to get all four parts of the business in to centralized system he is trying to
redesign the company s internal computer infrastructure, centralize the purchasing budget, create an
enterprise architecture, put tools, metrics and policies in place. Vince fired the four divisional because
they try to keep the power instead of centralizing the company s IT system. Vince has to organize and
plan and execute the plans. The next goal is to have a single customer service center to serve
customers in all four business s key lines. Problem with the remained divisional CIOs is that they
believe that centralized IT system would increase the bureaucracy and it would take away their
powers. There are few problems of lacking IM strategy in RR communications loss of company
values, a weak control, the organization would have an absence of formality and limited or no access

Walmart Business Model Good For Consumers
I think it s fair to assume that the majority of the people reading this paper have been to a Walmart
store at least once in their lives. The corporation has dominated the American market for years, and
currently holds the number one position at the top Fortune 500 companies of 2014 (Fortune, 2014). As
Walmart holds such a pivotal position across America, I think it s a good idea to devote an
investigation into its benefits and drawbacks over several different areas. With that being said, the
areas that we ll be looking into within this paper: 1) Is the Walmart business model good for
consumers? 2) Is the Walmart business model good for communities? 3) Is the Walmart business
model good for international development? Now allow me to attempt to answer these three questions
by providing both mine and others opinions on the matter let s start with the question of Walmart and
consumers. Walmart and Consumers My initial thought on the matter is that Walmart s business model
is more than beneficial towards consumers. As a customer I m always on the lookout for a better deal,
and by scraping those essential pennies off of their prices Walmart has created an environment entirely
conducive towards me saving more money than I would if I shopped elsewhere that day. As a result of
Walmart s always low prices there are huge amounts of people who give their time (and more
importantly, their money) to the superstore chain. Another area worth mention is the way that Walmart

Cultural Competence And Health Care Workers Get The Same...
Article Review Brittany Loy Nebraska Methodist College Miscommunication, medication errors, and
lack of compliance commonly occur in the healthcare field. These are just a few of the errors that
occur due to the patient being from a different culture than the physician or healthcare worker. Those
three errors alone have a huge impact on our healthcare today. If we could have a better understanding
of other cultures that are different from our own we could have a dramatic decrease in errors and a
great increase in healthcare participation. Training must be completed and must be done in more than
one way. The first step is to make sure that all physicians and health care workers get the same
nationwide training that focuses on improving cultural competence. How this is completed must be
done in more than one way (Horwitz, 2001). The goal in fixing/decreasing this issue is to make sure
the team has cultural competence. Cultural competence in healthcare has been operationalized as the
ability to provide high quality care for patients with diverse values, beliefs, and behaviors, including
the customization of service delivery and administration to meet the patients social and cultural needs
(Anderson, 2003). Up until recently, medical schools did not fit this concept into its teaching, which is
an issue for doctors who are older, as they were not taught the importance of this. It s very important
to fix this situation, errors, and assumptions about the

season. Around me, I see people bustling in all directions, scrambling to find those perfect presents
that, sooner or later, will be forgotten about, buried in the darkest crevices of one s closet or, perhaps,
already on their way to the dumpster. I have oftentimes wondered what instigates people to
accumulate objects, which end up barely fulfilling their needs, therefore, initiating the never ending
cycle of consumerism. Having lived in the United States for seventeen years, I have come to
acknowledge that Americans possess an unfulfilled desire for purchasing, supposedly practical and

To my knowledge, many people, including transcendentalists Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David
Thoreau have observed these issues begin to develop in America as early as the nineteenth century. By
stressing the ideals of living one with nature, far from the realms of society s corrupting influence,
they have, inevitably, sparked a movement of minimalism, that merits much more attention than it
receives. This motivates me, as an individual who intends to major in urban studies, to conduct
research and statistical analysis to determine why our culture has a predisposition for consumerism,
provided that most Americans are already heavily indebted. Exploring the multiple factors that
account for such a prodigious trend in our country could help us identify and counteract the effects
that it has on our environment and economy. Of course, this is an immense challenge to overcome, yet
it is also one of the most urgency; it is, inevitably, a threat to our existence, especially once the human
population starts being replaced by human

Analysis Of Lurhman s Strictly Ballroom And Mitchell s...
In Lurhman s Strictly Ballroom and Mitchell s It Follows, both directors use colour and music to
enhance the experience of the romantic comedy and horror genre films. Where Mitchell uses audio
and visual cues to break the conventional style of horror films in It Follows, Luhrman s Strictly
Ballroom uses audio and visual cues enhance the romantic comedy experience further. Where It
Follows, relies on visuals to tell it s story, Strictly Ballroom uses bright colors and musical cues to
reassure the audience that the two main characters will end up together.
In Mitchell s It Follows, he enlists the help of composer Vreeland to create music for his film.
Traditionally a composer for video games, Vreeland s music consists of the 8 bit type music that is
consistently found in Vreeland s main line of work. Whereas traditional horror films may carry
orchestral music, Vreeland s music is synthesized and therefore stands out because of it. In
combination with his composer s music, Mitchell also uses silence and natural ambience to further
break the horror music stereotype. Where more popular horror films would use silence, darkness and
loud sounds to help increase tension, Mitchell uses silence and music to do that instead. Vreeland s
music, which mainly contains higher pitched music enhanced by low beats, is mainly used during key
moments that involves the Follower. For example, during our second introduction to It, the music
consists of high pitched (flat sounding?????) notes

Sorrow And Grief In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet, one of many Shakespeare tragedy plays, reveals that Shakespeare thinks love brings
sorrow and grief. The play tells a story about two star crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet, who
live in two different households that hate each other. Many problems arise with Romeo and Juliet
loving each other, but being enemies in nature. The story is told by many characters, including Romeo
and Juliet. Through this, Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, repetition of epithets, and pathos to show
how love brings sorrow and grief. Dramatic irony is seen throughout the whole play many times, but
one time stands out when the main character Romeo slays Tybalt, kinsmen to the Capulets (Juliet s
Family), out of sheer anger. Consequently, Romeo was banished. Said in the play by Paris, he stated,
Immoderately she weeps for Tybalt s death, And therefore have I little talk of love (Rom.IV.i.6/7).
Paris thinks that Juliet weeps for Tybalt being slain, but instead is weeping for Romeo who was
banished from Verona. Following the banishment incident, Juliet remained in a coma like death that
she put herself into not marry Paris, but everyone thought of Juliet being dead, even Romeo. By her
tomb, Romeo spoke, Beauty s ensign yet is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks (Rom.V.iii.94/95).
The coma was to end and she was to wake any minute that Romeo went to Juliet, nevertheless Romeo
didn t know of the potion that put her in the coma. Full of grief, Romeo proceeded to kill himself even
though he noticed that Juliet looked well alive. Previously, when Romeo was banished and Juliet in
the coma, many examples of repetition of epithets happened during those scenes. Romeo and Juliet
has many characters expressing their sorrow with the repeated use of adjectives to describe their or
another s state. When Tybalt was killed, many wept for their kinsmen including the nurse of the
Capulet s. The nurse exclaims, We are undone, lady, we are undone. Alack the day, he s gone, he s
killed, he s dead (Rom.III.ii.43/44). The nurse repeatedly states about Tybalt being killed and is dead.
She is so stricken by grief that she doesn t say who was killed and Juliet gets confused about who got
killed, Tybalt, Romeo, or both. Soon after,

The Mind Body Problem

Mind Body Problem
Per the theory, the mind is about mental processes, thought and consciousness. The body is about the
physical aspects of the brain neurons and how the brain is structured. The mind body problem is about
how these two interact. One of the biggest questions in psychology and philosophy concerns the
mind/body problem: If they are distinct, then how do they interact? And which of the two is in charge?
Many theories have been put forward to explain the relationship between what we call your mind, so
defined as the conscious thinking you which experiences your thoughts or spiritual being and your
brain, part of your body. However, the most common explanation concerns the question of whether the
mind and body are separate entities or the same thing. While asking and recording my responses for
this particular exercise a few came up with the choice number 4 which stated, Nonphysical things
cannot casually interact with physical things when comparing it , your mind being able to interact with
physical things in general was immediately shut down , that it was not possible, that you cannot
casually interact , between the mind and the outside world at a whim, with out some kind of training to

In the case of semi active suspensions with sequential damping, the damping forces are zero or rather
very small as long as the sprung mass is moving away from its static equilibrium position and
suddenly increases when the system is returning to the static equilibrium position. The basic idea of
this semi active control strategy is to balance the elastic force by the damping force in order to reduce
or even to cancel the forces transmitted through the suspension as long as the spring and elastic forces

Semi active control systems combine the best features of the passive and active ones. They have
almost the same environmental robustness, mechanical simplicity and low cost as passive devices and
can offer the adaptability of active control systems without requiring the associated large power
sources.
In this paper the effect of semi active suspension with Magneto rheological fluid to control the
damping characteristic of the system and balanced logic on which the system works is presented. The
damping characteristics are controlled by modulation of fluid flow orifices, dry friction forces, electric
or magnetic field applied to electro rheological or magneto rheological fluid dampers. The balance
logic is assumed to be achieved with a variable dry friction damper controlled by the modulation of
the normal force applied on the friction plates. For the models with semi active dual rate dampers, the
value of the equivalent suspension damping coefficient is a function of the relative velocity of the
sprung mass with respect to the wheel subsystem.
Key Words: Transmissibility factor, Magneto rheological fluid, Sequential damping

This violence can lead to serious mental issues. Because these kids are witnessing their parents beat

Huntington s Disease Study
Huntington s disease, or HD, is a genetic neuro generative condition that is characterized by
progressive dysfunction in motor, cognitive and behavioral abilities. There are about 4 10 cases per
100,000 throughout the world, which makes it one of the most prevalent genetic neuro generative
disorders. Huntington s disease is a dominant gene mutation that occurs in the huntingtin gene. The
result is an excessive repeat of the nucleotide triad cytosine adenine guanine (CAG) and causes
damage to neurons. The striatum of the brain and the cerebral cortex are most affected by the gene but
other parts of the brain atrophy as well. Typically, onset begins around the 4th decade of life although
an early onset form can occur before the age of 20. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
compared the metabolic profiles of pre manifest, manifest HD and control groups. The results showed
that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to the control
group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite suppressant,
demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and absorption
(Wang et al., 2014).
Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group
compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in the
body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a decrease in
glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang et al., 2014).
Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with Body
Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin levels is
usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular adipocyte
function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington s disease.
Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and showed erratic levels
of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which is also supported by the
increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD patients have a decreased
ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels (Wang et al.,

solution to reducing the number of them in the sky. Consequently, banning drones in the states would
economically impact our country. Therefore, we should examine drone practices in the states.
In addition, many groups use these drones to operate their jobs. Groups such as the military and law

Examples Of Satire In Tartuffe
Tartuffe
Satire is used by many authors to convey different ideas, beliefs, or lessons. There are two different
types of satire. The first type of satire is conveys through light hearted mockery with an underlying
tone of respect, this is referred to as Horatian satire. Another type is Juvenalian satire and that is
portrayed through more serious tone, it is a call to action and is generally driven by a sense of moral
outrage. Tartuffe is a Horatian satire, rather than a Juvenalian satire. This is shown through Tartuffe
and Orgon s relationship, Dorine s character, and the ending.
Tartuffe and Orgon s relationship prove that Tartuffe is a Horatian satire because of Orgon s
obliviousness and Tartuffe s slyness. When the play begins, Molere writes Tartuffe as an innocent guy
who is in love with Mariane and is looked down upon by everyone around him. The audience is lead
to believe that Tartuffe is this charming young man who is a saint and commits no evil. Orgon is
completely enthralled with Tartuffe and he can not wait for him to marry his daughter, Mariane. As the
play continues, the author allows the audience to witness conversations and scenes that Orgon does
not know about. Slowly Moliere reveals Tartuffe s true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of The Executive Branch In The United States
The government of the United States of America has been around for over 2 centuries, in this time the
original setup has been little altered. The government is composed of three individual branches:
judicial, executive, and legislative branches. All three branches are held together using a system of
checks and balances. While each branch has some kind of trump or has control over another branch,
some branches are arguably more powerful than others. The main focus of this paper will be on where
the executive branch stands power wise. When our founding fathers first started building our nation
from the dust, they had in mind a system of branches where no one branch was more powerful than
the others. The decision of whether or not they hit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cause im sure we have all been in their place. And if congress breathing down his neck wasnt bad
enough, one of the only checks that the executive branch has can be overridden. That means that the
thing that is supposed to stope legislation from passing can be passed. Which isn t tha tbad of a thing

Essay About My Best Friend
From one month ago. I played basketball with my best friend and I also know he is better than me.
Yeah, I m jealous of him so I pushed him to think he hurts his ankle, I know I did wrong, but I just felt
that he was so cocky, I didn t say sorry. I didn t want to say sorry. After that I feel awkward, but I
thought he could just think joke or will be fine, but I could feel he doesn t like me anymore he treat me
like trash, I didn t know what did I do, I just pushed him but I really don t understand why he is acting
like a girl and what s wrong with him. He didn t talk to me in the school, he didn t even try to face me
he didn t answer my text or call. I was so frustrating. One day I held his arm and said What is wrong
with you and he said, not your business and you really don t know? after that time I was so sad and
angry. But I hope at least our friendships will be recovered, but that was my stupid imaginary. He
started playing with other friends but not me. And when I see his laughing face I was so mad I don t
know why, but I think I jealous because he was playing and having fun with other friends, not me. I
asked him a lot let s go gym or do you want to play game he said I m busy but I saw he was hanging
out with other friends because he just posted pictures on Instagram. My hope was just broken. Now I
m starting mad, I trusted him and hope that he will be fine, but I guess I don t need to trust or hope. I

Coastal Resilience
The definition of coastal resilience is when a community builds a plan to be able to bounce back after
hazardous events such as flooding, hurricanes, and coastal storms. Resilience is the ability to prevent
short term events from turning into long term community disasters. In the Hampton roads area we
have experienced recurring coastal flooding, in 2013 the government said they were joining as leaders
to address these issues, but yet we still are not prepared to handle these hazardous events. There was a
debate that was trying to figure out if these climate changes are manmade, I personally do not think
that they are, I believe that the world is changing everyday and considering that we are surrounded by
water, our circumstances are inevitable.

The Death Tax and the Death of Family Farms Essay
Relief from high inheritance taxes expires at the end of December, 2012. In the article A Storm of
Estate Taxes Threatens Farm Country, Lynne Finnerty says that the new estate tax exemption will drop
to one million dollars and the tax rate will increase to fifty five percent (Finnerty). Lowering the estate
tax exemption while increasing the rate may consequently cause the liquidation of many
multigenerational family farms and an ultimate decrease in the world s food supply. Comprehending
the effect of estate taxes on farm families requires a general understanding of farm economics. In
Illinois, for example, there are 76,000 farms and more than 28 million acres of farm land. Therefore,
the average farm size is 368 acres, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Kill the Death Tax, the author states, The estate tax falls hardest on those who maintain a family
business or farm. When the cost exceeds cash assets, the estate tax can force family business owners
and farmers to sell in order to pay the tax ( Kill the Death Tax ). Unfortunately, there are journalists
and politicians who attempt to convince the American public that this problem does not exist. Senator
Bernie Sanders writes in Tax Code Must Stop Coddling the Rich, Some Republicans argue that
eliminating the estate tax would save family farms and small businesses. Not true, though this
argument has been tried before (Sanders). A simple analysis of farm economics proves that Senator
Sanders is misleading the American public. In 2012, a 368 acre farm inheritance in Illinois would
create an estate tax bill of $623,920. The same farm planted to corn, has the potential to generate an
income of $17,664, which is obviously not enough cash to pay the tax. Therefore, the only solution
may be to sell part of the farm ground in order to pay the tax, which could hinder the viability of the
farming operation. In addition to bankrupting family farms, the mere existence of the death tax is
unfair. Assets that are liable to estate taxes involve money that is being taxed for the second and
sometimes third times. It taxes assets which have already been subject to the federal payroll, income
and/or capital gains

The Queen Of The King
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a king and a queen anxiously awaited the birth of their child. The
king and queen had longed for a child, and so they had a daughter. However, when the child was born,
the queen died. Soon after the queen s passing, the king took a new wife. However, the new queen was
selfish, for she did not want to care for a child that was not her own. And so, she sent the young

age, they had missed having a child in their home, as their son had boarded one of the ships passing

Redemption In Schindler s List
Never shall I forget the feeling of anticipation when the little boy in Schindler s List is looking for a
hiding spot and, when it came to desperate measures, the boy had to hide in the latrine. The boy s
daring actions at survival show how he feels about life and death and make the viewers question

who know that everything will not be sweet at the new destination so they escape to a hiding place.
Some of these children are not successful when planning their escape, but this little boy is. The boy

The Hippocampus And Its Effects On Patients With Depression
The hippocampus is smaller in patients with depression. The smaller hippocampus is thought to be
diminished because of a persistent exposure to stress hormones, like cortisol, which impacts the
growth of nerve cells. The hippocampus is highly susceptible to stress, perhaps because the protracted
ontogeny or the high amount of glucocorticoid receptors (Uma Rao et al.; 2010). The longer the
patient has depression, or the more episodes of depression the patient experiences, the smaller the
hippocampal volumes become. Stress correlates with the smaller hippocampus, researchers used
twenty nine patients with depression, twenty two patients with severe depression and thirty two

did not have any other kind of mental illness like bi polar disorder, autism, or schizophrenia.
Structural imagery was used to obtain the images of each patients entire brain. Then an image was

right hippocampus. From the MRI scans and using a formula the hippocampal volumes were figured.
All of the patients were followed up on, every 6 months for up to five years. The results were

The Zulu Tribe Of Africa

powerful Zulu tribe. The history of the Zulu people is rather short in comparison to other tribes in
Africa. In this essay I hope to briefly discuss the Zulu history, what makes them unique, the Zulu
religion, the interaction with the British colonial groups, how the Zulu nation came to come into
power, and where the present day Zulu people stand in society today.

Warriors were ordered to live in special camps under their commanders, and were not allowed to
marry before the age of 409. The traditional throwing spear was replaced by the short spear used for
stabbing called the iklwa by the Zulu because of the sound it made when pulled out of the enemy s
body10. Shaka s soldiers were trained constantly, becoming so fit that they were able to go into battle
after marching 50 miles in one day. The Zulu tribe was being transformed into a new strictly
militarized nation. When his old enemy, Zwide, chief of the Ndwandwe killed Dingiswayo in an
ambush, Shaka emerged as the undisputed successor. He reorganized the Mthethwa along Zulu lines,
and adopted a new policy consisting of conquering tribes and using their young men as soldiers in his
army. Shaka declared the Zulu dialect to be the official language. The advisory role of the old councils
of chiefs and elders was done away with. Shaka occasionally took advice from his commanders, but
he ruled with absolute power11.
After consolidating his rule, Shaka began to look outward. His first task was to rid himself of the
Ndwandwe threat that had claimed Dingiswayo s life. This he did in a seven week campaign that
culminated in the annihilation of the Ndwandwe forces. Zwide and some of his subjects escaped and

Creation or Evolution of the Earth
Was it creation or evolution? That is the question that is more popular today than ever. There are many
different theories to the creation of the earth and the development of man. The big question is which
one was actually true. Scientists will tell you evolution is how man was created. Creationists or
Christians will tell you that creation was how man was created. Which group of people is right? There
is a bill in Texas State Congress over a new proposed set of guidelines for teaching biology in the
public school system. For the last twenty years state regulations have said whenever the theory of
evolution is. Sanded it is weakness should also be presented. However a new group of professors,
calling themselves The Twenty First Century Science Coalition, this group is calling for a change in
Texas state guidelines and all across America that would profit the mention of any weakness from
being discussed in the public classroom. The also further said any mention of weakness of Darwin s
theory of evolution would harm college students readiness and their ability to compete for jobs. I find
this a bit curious. Here are these people saying we can t even talk about the weakness of evolution.
Somehow this will keep kids from getting jobs and getting into college. It is not the whole purpose of
education to ask questions? Why is the adherence of evolution so adamant in saying we are not even
going to allow any of the weakness of our theory to be discussed? I think the reason is

Sensors Allocation Fault

A wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of distributed sensors to monitor environmental conditions
such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or detect dimensions, to pass their data
through the network to a base station for processing. Advantages of WSN over a wired system
considered in elimination of wiring cost, sensors can be installed in harsh environments. Each sensor
node is a combination of Radio transceiver with an internal antenna or connection to an external

However, this solution is not optimal neither it is minimal. To provide a better solution a collaboration
of different parameter sensors is used to both minimize and optimize sensor usage.
Figure 2 describes a 3 axis graph of the boxes, the x axis is dimension, the y axis is the color and the z
axis is the weight. Figure 2a, 2b and 2c maps objects by the x y, y z and x z respectively. There 11

Proposed solution:
The following section describes the code developed to find an optimal sensor solution. The first step is
to consider the cost of each sensor used. The minimal sensor subset is the set with the lowest cost. The
equation [1] describes the cost of the sensor, which simply is the summation of each of the used
sensors. As described previously, most sensors used in this technique are simple and there is no
significant difference in their cost. Thereby since sensors of different parameter are of the same cost, it
is more effective to consider the

The Importance Of Perfluorooctanoic Acid ( Pfoa )
In the 1950 s DuPont, an American industrial conglomerate, started producing Teflon at its
Washington Works Plant near Parkersburg, WV; a couple of hours southeast of Columbus, Ohio on the
Ohio River. Teflon is a non stick coating commonly found on water resistant clothing, cookware,
among other things. One of the main byproducts of Teflon is perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), more
commonly known as C8. DuPont s Washington Works plant released C8 into the air as well as the
Ohio River until 2001, at which point abnormally high levels of the acid were detected in drinking
water supplies throughout the river in Little Hocking, Ohio. The Little Hocking water system consists
of five groundwater wells located immediately west (downstream) of the Ohio River and it took
approximately 50 years for the C8 released into the Ohio River to reach the well fields. This is
because contaminates were transferred via groundwater, which travels much slower than the river s
surface water. However, once the C8 had infiltrated the wells, an estimated 70,000 people were
exposed to contaminated water. Shortly after the harmful levels of C8 were detected in the well fields,
exposure to C8 was linked to cases of kidney cancer, testicular cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid
disease, pregnancy induced hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia. As a result, in 2005, customers of

Kids like simple food and these two places offer that. Despite the aforementioned similarities, there
are several key differences between Shake Shack and McDonald s that might factor into choosing one
over the other. One key difference is cost. This is the biggest difference when picking from the two
establishments. While both serve the same types of food and they look the same they when you re
inside they aren t.It s a know facts that mcdonald s has a extremely low quality of meat. There are
some people when hearing that will never eat there again and be loyal to shake shack. The majority
will eat both meats what you have to decide is whether you wanna a big juicy burger for a little more
money or u wanna save money get dollar burger. Many parents will chose mcdonalds if they have kids
because it could be costly to feed a family at shake shack. Another main difference is quality and taste.
In others words, the cliche you get what you pay for, does run true. The qualities of the two meats are
very know in the public.Shack shake meat grade is an A ,while mcdonald s has a b grade meat .This is
problem to lot of people and why they might chose to eat at shake shack over mcdonald.Anyone who s

The Cultural Experience Of The Biennale Of Sydney
If each era posits its own view of reality, what is ours? Stephanie Rosenthal
Sydney s 20th Biennale is entitled The future is already here it s just not evenly distributed, where it
explores the ideas about technology, virtual reality, science fiction and the ways in which individuals
and communities are living in an increasingly digital and technological world. This theme was
inspired by an American Canadian science fiction writer. The artistic director, Stephanie Rosenthal
investigates the relationship we have with technology and the power it holds to transport us to another
world allowing new concepts and opportunities to arise however it also removes us from our
environment and physical bodies.
The aims of the Biennale of Sydney is to allow inventive and creative experimentation to be explored
and to challenge the norms of predictable artmaking practices. The Biennale advocates a real cultural
experience through combining the many different artworks created by many different artists
instigating a global conversation about art. The Biennale occurs every two years in Sydney and brings
such a cultural experience to the Sydney.
The 20th Biennale of Sydney is presented in seven main venues around Sydney and each location is
known as an embassy , where they display different ideas however are connected. Having the
exhibition spread over these venues is beneficial giving the audience variety in choice and a different
experience depending on the venue. The

The Consequences Of Heroic Research
Heroes produce a recently identified emotion called elevation (Allison 1). Witnessing a person give a
homeless person money creates this feeling of elevation. It s a morally beautiful act that prompts
warmth and love. This occurs more often than people think because most people keep this feeling of
elevation to themselves. Frequently, the social sharing of emotions is not only the basis of strong and
durable relationships, but it s informative as well. A small, heroic act can go an extensive way. Heroes
mend psychic wounds because the consequences of telling or hearing a heroic story create a feeling of
comfort and safety. These stories added purpose to people s lives. Heroes nourish our connections
with other people (Allison 1).

A Great Mistake Of The Athenians
This was a great mistake of the Athenians, as Thucydides claims, most of them (Athenians) being
ignorant of its (Sicily) size and of the number of its inhabitants, Hellenic and barbarian, and of the fact
that they were undertaking a war not much inferior to that against the Peloponnesians . So, Athens
undervalued Sicily and overvalued their (the Athenians) greatness. Nicias tried to warn citizens about
the wealth and strength of the Sicilian states enemies they would have to challenge, and insisted on a
great preparation and investments in the expedition to make it possible. He also added: Indeed, even if
we leave Athens with a force not only equal to that of the enemy except in the number of heavy
infantry in the field, but even at all points superior to him, we shall still find it difficult to conquer
Sicily or save ourselves .
The preparation for the expedition began and the departure to Sicily took place. It worth saying that all
Athenians were taking part in preparation, the government and citizens did their best. Indeed this
armament that first sailed out was by far the most costly and splendid Hellenic force that had ever
been sent out by a single city up to that time .
Alcibiades, one of the generals of the expedition, had a lot of enemies in Athens, due to his luxury life
and desire to get as much fame as possible. So, before the departure of expedition his enemies tried to
do everything to implicate him in scandals and expose. All in all Alcibiades was

The Cardiovascular System Of The Heart And Blood Vessels
[The purpose of the cardiovascular system is to circulate blood throughout the body. The
cardiovascular system transports gasses, nutrients, and wastes. Also, the cardiovascular system
protects the body against infection, regulates temperature, and helps maintain fluid balance within the
body.]
[Cardiovascular disease is a range of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Examples of CVD are
an arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, and congenital heart disease.]
[Tobacco use increases the risk for CVD because it damages the lining of arteries. Also, it decreases
the level of HDL and increases the levels of LDL cholesterol. Nicotine causes an increase in blood
pressure and heart rate. Carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke lowers the amount of oxygen the blood
can carry. Tobacco smoke increases the tendency of blood platelets to stick together, which might
cause a blood clot, and it speeds the development of plaque.]
[Blood pressure is measured using two numbers. The first number is the systolic blood pressure,
which is a contraction phase of the heart. The second number is the diastolic blood pressure, which is
a relaxation phase of the heart. The normal blood pressure reading for a healthy adult is below 120
over 80. The reading that qualifies as high blood pressure is higher than 140 over 90. High blood
pressure increases the risk for CVD because too much force is applied against the walls of the arteries,
resulting heart to work harder to force blood through the narrowed

Even here, while on the surface it may appear a nonconformist act to join this group that Keating already said would not be looked upon favorably from the current administration, Cameron only joined this group because his closest associates prompted the action. Keating, as an English professor, is meant to open Neil s mind to individuality and freedom. Keating only did his job to the best of his ability, and the fact that he had such a large impact of Neil and some other students reflects on how well he was doing his job, and not that he is to blame for Neil s death. While it could be argued that Neil had no life threatening or rebellious episodes against his father or his school until Keating began to teach, this is more of a statement on the ineffectiveness of the previous teachers. The fact that Neil begins to take control of his life shows how Keating has inspired Neil to think for himself, which is the purpose Keating s job. The fact that previous teachers failed to do this should not reflect poorly on Keating, nor should it be a cause for his guilt. Further evidence against Keating s guilt is that Neil attempts to stand up his father in the beginning of the film, before he meets Keating. This attitude was already present in Neil, and Keating only gave Neil more self assurance, and thus he is not to blame. Keating is innocent in Neil s death, as he only did his job to the best of his ability, and outside factors such as Neil s father provided the circumstances for Neil s feeling of hopelessness and eventual ... The corporation has dominated the American market for years, and currently holds the number one position at the top Fortune 500 companies of 2014 (Fortune, 2014). As Walmart holds such a pivotal position across America, I think it s a good idea to devote an investigation into its benefits and drawbacks over several different areas. With that being said, the areas that we ll be looking into within this paper: 1) Is the Walmart business model good for consumers? 2) Is the Walmart business model good for communities? 3) Is the Walmart business model good for international development? • 9. Cultural Competence And Health Care Workers Get The Same... Article Review Brittany Loy Nebraska Methodist College Miscommunication, medication errors, and lack of compliance commonly occur in the healthcare field. These are just a few of the errors that occur due to the patient being from a different culture than the physician or healthcare worker. Those three errors alone have a huge impact on our healthcare today. If we could have a better understanding of other cultures that are different from our own we could have a dramatic decrease in errors and a great increase in healthcare participation. Training must be completed and must be done in more than one way. The first step is to make sure that all physicians and health care workers get the same nationwide training that focuses on improving cultural competence. How this is completed must be done in more than one way (Horwitz, 2001). The goal in fixing/decreasing this issue is to make sure the team has cultural competence. Cultural competence in healthcare has been operationalized as the ability to provide high quality care for patients with diverse values, beliefs, and behaviors, including the customization of service delivery and administration to meet the patients social and cultural needs (Anderson, 2003). Up until recently, medical schools did not fit this concept into its teaching, which is an issue for doctors who are older, as they were not taught the importance of this. This motivates me, as an individual who intends to major in urban studies, to conduct research and statistical analysis to determine why our culture has a predisposition for consumerism, provided that most Americans are already heavily indebted. Exploring the multiple factors that account for such a prodigious trend in our country could help us identify and counteract the effects that it has on our environment and economy. Where It Follows, relies on visuals to tell it s story, Strictly Ballroom uses bright colors and musical cues to reassure the audience that the two main characters will end up together. Traditionally a composer for video games, Vreeland s music consists of the 8 bit type music that is consistently found in Vreeland s main line of work. Whereas traditional horror films may carry orchestral music, Vreeland s music is synthesized and therefore stands out because of it. In combination with his composer s music, Mitchell also uses silence and natural ambience to further break the horror music stereotype. Where more popular horror films would use silence, darkness and loud sounds to help increase tension, Mitchell uses silence and music to do that instead. • 12. Sorrow And Grief In Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet, one of many Shakespeare tragedy plays, reveals that Shakespeare thinks love brings sorrow and grief. The play tells a story about two star crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet, who live in two different households that hate each other. Many problems arise with Romeo and Juliet loving each other, but being enemies in nature. The story is told by many characters, including Romeo and Juliet. Through this, Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, repetition of epithets, and pathos to show how love brings sorrow and grief. Dramatic irony is seen throughout the whole play many times, but one time stands out when the main character Romeo slays Tybalt, kinsmen to the Capulets (Juliet s Family), out of sheer anger. Consequently, Romeo was banished. Said in the play by Paris, he stated, Immoderately she weeps for Tybalt s death, And therefore have I little talk of love (Rom.IV.i.6/7). Paris thinks that Juliet weeps for Tybalt being slain, but instead is weeping for Romeo who was banished from Verona. Following the banishment incident, Juliet remained in a coma like death that she put herself into not marry Paris, but everyone thought of Juliet being dead, even Romeo. By her tomb, Romeo spoke, Beauty s ensign yet is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks (Rom.V.iii.94/95). The coma was to end and she was to wake any minute that Romeo went to Juliet, nevertheless Romeo didn t know of the potion that put her in the coma. Full of grief, Romeo proceeded to kill himself even though he noticed that Juliet looked well alive. Previously, when Romeo was banished and Juliet in the coma, many examples of repetition of epithets happened during those scenes. Romeo and Juliet has many characters expressing their sorrow with the repeated use of adjectives to describe their or another s state. When Tybalt was killed, many wept for their kinsmen including the nurse of the Capulet s. The nurse exclaims, We are undone, lady, we are undone. Alack the day, he s gone, he s killed, he s dead (Rom.III.ii.43/44). The nurse repeatedly states about Tybalt being killed and is dead. • 13. The Mind Body Problem Kaylan Monice PHI 111 C.Brown Feb 2017 Mind Body Problem Per the theory, the mind is about mental processes, thought and consciousness. The body is about the physical aspects of the brain neurons and how the brain is structured. The mind body problem is about how these two interact. One of the biggest questions in psychology and philosophy concerns the mind/body problem: If they are distinct, then how do they interact? And which of the two is in charge? Many theories have been put forward to explain the relationship between what we call your mind, so defined as the conscious thinking you which experiences your thoughts or spiritual being and your brain, part of your body. However, the most common explanation concerns the question of whether the mind and body are separate entities or the same thing. While asking and recording my responses for this particular exercise a few came up with the choice number 4 which stated, Nonphysical things cannot casually interact with physical things when comparing it , your mind being able to interact with physical things in general was immediately shut down , that it was not possible, that you cannot casually interact , between the mind and the outside world at a whim, with out some kind of training to understanding the non physical things ... In this paper the effect of semi active suspension with Magneto rheological fluid to control the damping characteristic of the system and balanced logic on which the system works is presented. The damping characteristics are controlled by modulation of fluid flow orifices, dry friction forces, electric or magnetic field applied to electro rheological or magneto rheological fluid dampers. The balance logic is assumed to be achieved with a variable dry friction damper controlled by the modulation of the normal force applied on the friction plates. For the models with semi active dual rate dampers, the value of the equivalent suspension damping coefficient is a function of the relative velocity of the sprung mass with respect to the wheel subsystem. The results showed that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to the control group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite suppressant, demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and absorption (Wang et al., 2014). Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in the body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a decrease in glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang et al., 2014). Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with Body Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin levels is usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular adipocyte function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington s disease. Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and showed erratic levels of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which is also supported by the increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD patients have a decreased ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels (Wang et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tartuffe and Orgon s relationship prove that Tartuffe is a Horatian satire because of Orgon s obliviousness and Tartuffe s slyness. When the play begins, Molere writes Tartuffe as an innocent guy who is in love with Mariane and is looked down upon by everyone around him. The audience is lead to believe that Tartuffe is this charming young man who is a saint and commits no evil. The Importance Of The Executive Branch In The United States The government of the United States of America has been around for over 2 centuries, in this time the original setup has been little altered. The government is composed of three individual branches: judicial, executive, and legislative branches. All three branches are held together using a system of checks and balances. While each branch has some kind of trump or has control over another branch, some branches are arguably more powerful than others. The main focus of this paper will be on where the executive branch stands power wise. • 27. The Death Tax and the Death of Family Farms Essay Relief from high inheritance taxes expires at the end of December, 2012. In the article A Storm of Estate Taxes Threatens Farm Country, Lynne Finnerty says that the new estate tax exemption will drop to one million dollars and the tax rate will increase to fifty five percent (Finnerty). Lowering the estate tax exemption while increasing the rate may consequently cause the liquidation of many multigenerational family farms and an ultimate decrease in the world s food supply. Comprehending the effect of estate taxes on farm families requires a general understanding of farm economics. In Illinois, for example, there are 76,000 farms and more than 28 million acres of farm land. Therefore, the average farm size is 368 acres, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Kill the Death Tax, the author states, The estate tax falls hardest on those who maintain a family business or farm. When the cost exceeds cash assets, the estate tax can force family business owners and farmers to sell in order to pay the tax ( Kill the Death Tax ). Unfortunately, there are journalists and politicians who attempt to convince the American public that this problem does not exist. Senator Bernie Sanders writes in Tax Code Must Stop Coddling the Rich, Some Republicans argue that eliminating the estate tax would save family farms and small businesses. Not true, though this argument has been tried before (Sanders). A simple analysis of farm economics proves that Senator Sanders is misleading the American public. In 2012, a 368 acre farm inheritance in Illinois would create an estate tax bill of $623,920. The same farm planted to corn, has the potential to generate an income of $17,664, which is obviously not enough cash to pay the tax. Therefore, the only solution may be to sell part of the farm ground in order to pay the tax, which could hinder the viability of the farming operation. In addition to bankrupting family farms, the mere existence of the death tax is unfair. Assets that are liable to estate taxes involve money that is being taxed for the second and sometimes third times. It taxes assets which have already been subject to the federal payroll, income and/or capital gains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Perfluorooctanoic Acid ( Pfoa ) In the 1950 s DuPont, an American industrial conglomerate, started producing Teflon at its Washington Works Plant near Parkersburg, WV; a couple of hours southeast of Columbus, Ohio on the Ohio River. Teflon is a non stick coating commonly found on water resistant clothing, cookware, among other things. One of the main byproducts of Teflon is perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), more commonly known as C8. DuPont s Washington Works plant released C8 into the air as well as the Ohio River until 2001, at which point abnormally high levels of the acid were detected in drinking water supplies throughout the river in Little Hocking, Ohio. The Little Hocking water system consists of five groundwater wells located immediately west (downstream) of the Ohio River and it took approximately 50 years for the C8 released into the Ohio River to reach the well fields. This is because contaminates were transferred via groundwater, which travels much slower than the river s surface water. However, once the C8 had infiltrated the wells, an estimated 70,000 people were exposed to contaminated water. Shortly after the harmful levels of C8 were detected in the well fields, exposure to C8 was linked to cases of kidney cancer, testicular cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, pregnancy induced hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia. So, Athens undervalued Sicily and overvalued their (the Athenians) greatness. Alcibiades, one of the generals of the expedition, had a lot of enemies in Athens, due to his luxury life and desire to get as much fame as possible. So, before the departure of expedition his enemies tried to do everything to implicate him in scandals and expose. All in all Alcibiades was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke lowers the amount of oxygen the blood can carry. Tobacco smoke increases the tendency of blood platelets to stick together, which might cause a blood clot, and it speeds the development of plaque.] [Blood pressure is measured using two numbers. The first number is the systolic blood pressure, which is a contraction phase of the heart. The second number is the diastolic blood pressure, which is a relaxation phase of the heart. The normal blood pressure reading for a healthy adult is below 120 over 80. The reading that qualifies as high blood pressure is higher than 140 over 90.
