2. Rhetorical Devices In Ted Talk Speech
With over one million views, Dan Gross TED Talk capitalizes on the issue of gun control. The viewer
gains a deep insight on an individual s views who left their dream career to become a gun control
activist. Dan Gross uses rhetorical speech and persuasion in order to educate his audience on why gun
violence can t be our new normal. Dan Gross, the head of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun
Violence, entices the audience by using the following rhetorical, persuasive, and visual elements
throughout his speech:
● Dressed professionally in a suit.
● Began speaking about his passion, then tied it into a personal tragedy.
● Found a common ground with the audience.
● Used statistics to gain credibility.
● Revealed how media allow people to look past gun issues. (Gross)
If the viewer takes a deeper look at these six key persuasive elements listed above, it is shown how
Gross speech is precisely outlined to ultimately create a persuasive monologue. Dan very naturally
uses a few of the rhetorical strategies discussed in class to create impactful persuasion.
Before Dan even speaks, a viewer will see him as credible simply due to his appearance. Dan is
dressed in a well fitted suit, has a clean shave, and his hair gelled back. Dan then begins his speech
with a personal narrative. He speaks about his passion for advertising that came to an end when his
own brother was shot in the head at the Empire State Building. Gross uses an emotional tone and old
family photographs to create

3. Present Day Climate Change
Many people think that present day climate change is similar to paleoclimate change, but this is only
true when looking at the effects of climate change, the trends in temperature, and the trends in
greenhouse gas levels, which have all stayed the same. By applying the principle of uniformity, we
know that many of the current processes, such as plate tectonics happened in the same way in the past.
In order to use climate proxy records, we have to apply this principle to be able to compare the data
about the current and past environment with equal weight. For example, we assume that the ice cores
reacted the same way to changes in air composition and temperature in the past, such as the mid
Cretaceous, as they do today, so that we can make fair statements of whether or not the air
composition and temperatures have changed or stayed relatively similar. We ... Show more content on

In the mid Cretaceous, coral reefs were found in abundance near 5 to 30 degrees polewards. Today, we
can find them only from 5 to 15 degrees polewards, and there are also very few of them at those
locations. In the past atmospheric aerosols had natural causes such as sulfur and water vapor from
volcanoes, but today most of the aerosols put in the air is smog. Most of this smog is due to humans
burning coal and driving vehicles everyday in such large numbers in multiple places throughout the
world. Additionally, in the mid Cretaceous volcanic activity was the main contributor of atmospheric
CO₂, but today the main CO₂ emitter is the burning of coal, and also fossil fuels. If coral reefs, the
causes of aerosols in our atmosphere, and the causes of atmospheric CO2 have all changed, then we
cannot say that paleoclimate and present day climate change are the

The book, The Latehomecomer, is a fascinating story about a Hmong family and their struggle to get
out of Laos and come to America as refugees. The Hmong people are a very proud people and they do
not want to forget their culture. One can clearly see that the Hmong people hold close their identity
and do not want to conform to the Vietnamese way. They take pride in their culture, their society, and
the way they view how government should run. Hmong people did not agree with the Vietnamese

It was very tough for the Hmong s that were still in Vietnam and Laos after the war. The American
armed forces was these people s only protection and after they just picked up and left for their home
shores the Hmong people that were still alive faced severe hardships. They had no food and water and
most of their homes were all destroyed. Most of the men and young adult boys were killed in the war
and the Vietnamese and Laos soldiers were still pursing the Hmong people because they wanted to
terminate the Hmong people. It was also tough for the Hmong people that were left because the
American s had stopped bringing food drops along with medical supplies. I believe family is such an
important part in this family s life because they are all that each other has got. They hold close to their
family because they have been through so much and they see death all around them, so they see the
importance of their family. They also are taught from a very young age to respect their elders in the
family because they have seen much more and know much more about all aspects of life. They are
viewed as wise and knowledgeable and the young family members cherish the opportunity to learn
from them. In the movie Gran Torino one can get an idea for the respect most of the young people

The United States has been a major supplier of arms to foreign buyers for the better part of the last 75

Foreign Policy piece Helping Others Defend Themselves , led the United States to continue supplying
weapons to nations that would pay for them in lieu of retreating back into the isolationist policies put

8. The Army and the Air Force Essay
The Army and the Air Force have many similarities and differences, some of the similarities are the
troop s dedication, diversity, and patriotism, and some of the differences are the way each branch
trains, their respective customs, and quality life.
As a Soldier in the Army, with many friends in the Air Force, it is easy for me to see the many
similarities and differences between the two military branches. Both the Army and Air Force have
troops who are dedicated to both the work they do for the military, as well as the military branch they
serve. Army and Air Force personnel must wake up early every weekday, to include weekends at
times, in order to work long hours to serve and protect the Nation.

The Air Force focuses mainly on training troops technical knowledge to be proficient at their jobs, and
provides combat training only when Air Force personnel are put on orders to deploy to a combat zone.
Soldier s go to training sites frequently and stay for weeks at a time to train with scenarios comparable
to missions the military has seen in previous battles, or believe may happen in future battles fought.
When the Army trains with the aforementioned scenarios, soldiers must carry their assigned weapons,
either an M16A2 rifle, an M4 rifle, or an M9 pistol. When soldiers go through the scenarios, they are
required to fire their assigned weapon in order to train with, and become comfortable with those
weapons. Air Force personnel train with similar scenarios, but only when given orders to deploy. At
times, Air Force personnel will train with Soldiers, deploy to the same combat zone, and work as a
joint force together. Soldiers do not only receive combat training, but soldiers also receive technical
training to be proficient at their job.
It is customary for soldiers to be mentally and physically tough, in fact, the slogan for the Army is:
There s strong, then there s Army strong. Soldiers are taught to never show weakness and to give off
the perception of a hard core fighter. In order to achieve the toughness of a hard core fighter, a soldier

9. How Much Attention And Nurturing Children Receive
How much attention and nurturing children receive does, in fact, affect how they will develop as
adolescents and adults in areas of personality, emotion, and social interaction. John Bowlby, a British
researcher, a child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, is well known in Psychology for his research
specializing in parent or primary caregiver child relationships. His research influenced Mary
Ainsworth who later became his research assistant and continued his research on attachment after his
death. Being neglected as a child by parents and caregivers, he understood the negative effects of
growing up lonely and detached. John Bowlby founded the attachment theory, an essential theory in
Psychology that reveals the negative impact of neglect and is now used as a reference to understand its
effects. The theory is an important advance in Developmental Psychology because children were now
viewed as vulnerable and need the care to develop to their full potential development. Therefore,
methods of how to understand and interact with the victims of neglect were needed for professionals
in the fields of medicine, law, and education.
Being born into an upper class family in the 20th century, John Bowlby was a prime example of a
victim of neglect. Upper class families often left their children to caregivers and seldom interacted
with them, similar to Bowlby s case. Elizabeth Carr and Mauricio Cortina in Heinz Kohut and John

Godden Baddeley (1975) provided evidence for this by asking participants to learn a list of words
either on land or 15 ft underwater. They were better able to recall words if asked to do so in the setting
in which they originally learnt them.
2. Secondly, State Dependent Retrieval suggests that recall is improved if the individual is in the same
physical and/or psychological state as when they first learnt the information.
Godwin (1969) investigated the effect of alcohol on recall and found individuals were better able to
recall information learnt when drunk if they were drunk. Other drugs seem to affect memory similarly.
Bower (1981) however found that the same principle applied to mood did not have such a convincing
effect but only a tendency to produce State Dependent Retrieval. SPANSTYLE= COLOR:RED

Cue Dependent Retrieval, Tulving Pearlstone (1966).

historically accurate book, while filling in the subjective details all in order to make for an interesting

portray a sharp contrast between good and evil, and he does this by presenting two main characters

to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a cheery place full of patriotism for
their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good for the city. While pride may seem to
produce good for the city, it actually causes the people to ignore the bad. This is evident with the story
of H. H. Holmes. He is able to get away with so much in Chicago and pretty much runs a murder
factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares enough to investigate it because Chicago is simply
known as the city where one would marvel at how easy it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This

the countless victims that were murdered by him and never found. Another example of preventable
evil being ignored is that of Prendergast, who becomes progressively insane but the few people that

Tommy Douglas was the first person to ever lead a social democratic government in Canada. It was

monuments, and customs. One of the town s more preserved areas is High Street or Main Street,
sometimes humorously deemed downtown. High Street is home to Comfort s historical district. The
first original buildings of the settlement line the street, including Ingeinhut s General Store, the
Comfort Common (the town s first hotel,) and the opera house. Other points of interest include the old
post office, the Comfort Public Library, and the soda shop. Stained and cracked with age, these large
limestone buildings display obvious German architecture reminiscent of the early the late 1800s. The
most famous spot on High Street, though, and the center of my research, is somewhat of a hole in the
wall. Covered in such publications as Texas Monthly and Southern Living, Gael s Comfort Barber
Shop, established in 1906, seems to be the center of High Street popularity. The owner, Gael Montana,
is the third owner of the barber shop in almost one hundred years of operation. She, along with friend

companionship, and a place to relax in this one room

Did you know alcohol has 23 different effects on the body? When you drink alcohol, it soaks up a
person s bloodstream and affects every part of their body. Drinking a quantitative amount of alcohol
has a major effect on the body. If you drink more alcohol than you can handle, you result in being
drunk. Drinking alcohol can cause physical and emotional changes that can be injurious to the body.
Alcohol has a major effect on the body s system and their functions. Alcohol affects the excretory
system, nervous system, digestive system, circulatory system, sexual reproductive health and the
immune system.

Alcoholics who suddenly stop drinking experience nausea, anxiety, nervousness and tremors. Alcohol
can weaken the digestive system, starting from your mouth down to your colon. Constant drinking has
a bigger risk of mouth, throat and esophagus cancer. Alcohol in the circulatory system can lead to
poisoning of the heart muscles, arrhythmia, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and heart failure.
Women who drink can experience miscarriages, premature delivery, and stillbirth. A baby can be born
with physical abnormalities, learning difficulties and emotional problems that could last forever.
Everlasting drinking makes it hard for the body to grow a new bone. Constant drinking can cause
different types of cancer. Alcohol injures DNA which leads to cancer. It reacts to reactive oxygen
species that creates our cells. When consuming alcohol in the body, it is changed in to a deadly
chemical called acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde causes the liver cells become larger very fast which leads
to cancer. Cancers that are connected to alcohol contain mouth, pharyngeal, oesophageal, laryngeal,

24. Analysis Of The Jumping Frog
The lowest intellect, like the highest, possesses a skill of some kind and takes a keen pleasure in
testing it, proving it, perfecting it (Mark Twain). The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County
was one of Mark Twain s first works and it helped people start to notice who he was. This short story
was about someone listening to a man telling a story about a gambler and a frog. Although the story
itself sounds a bit weird, that was one of the ways of writing that Twain was best known for. The
writing style that Twain uses in this work, and many others, helped create his success and makes him a
better writer. In this specific short story, the speaker spoke very seriously and casually which
countered the tone that was most based on the listener being annoyed that they had to hear his story.
This aspect of the story helped contribute more towards Twain s writing style, and his style yet to
come. In 1865 his story about the jumping frog of Calaveras County, which was published in New
York and reprinted in papers around the United States, started to make him celebrated too. (Stephan
Railton) Although The Jumping Frog wasn t Twain s most popular piece by a long shot, it did very
well for him at the time. At this point in Twain s writing, it was the his first great success which helped
make it as timeless as it is. He later went on to write famous books such as The Adventures of Tom
Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which both shared the humor that Twain is most

25. Evaluation Of A Prototype Model
A prototype can be defined as a representative example of a given category [1]. A prototype model can
be viewed as a rudimentary working model of a product or information system, used to test or prove a
concept or a process. A prototype of an Information System can be viewed as a draft version of the
system that allows stakeholders to explore system features and test the overall system before
dedicating resources for the development of the full scale system.
Prototyping is an iterative process. A high level view of the process allows us to identify the following
4 steps that form the crux of the prototyping approach:
Figure 1: Prototype Design Process
1. Identify Content Based on the needs of the stakeholders, information is gathered about the features
that a system should possess.
2. Build Prototype Using the information, a prototype is then created to gain an understanding of the
system.
3. Review Prototype The prototype is reviewed for errors and flaws and suitability to the stakeholders
needs. If it does not align with the testing standards, the process is reiterated until a satisfactory model
is created.
4. Freeze Design Once all stakeholders and designers are satisfied, the prototype model is finalized
and no new changes are incorporated into the model.
1.1 Prototyping in Business Analysis
A prototype is an original model, form or an instance that serves as a basis for other processes.

26. The Impact Of Charlie Chaplin s Impact On Film
Throughout this course, we have talked about a lot of different directors, photographers, artists, actors,
etc., involved in some of the most foundational and original films during the silent film era. However,
the person who really intrigued me the most was, none other than, Charlie Chaplin. In fact, I d like to
use this paper to further explore his life and career to gain some perspective on who he was and the
steps it took for him to rise to fame. I believe his impact on film throughout his life was extremely
influential, and in order to understand that impact, I must start from the beginning. Charles S. Chaplin
was born in London, England on April 16th of 1889. His father, Charles Chaplin Sr. and mother,
Hannah Harriett (stage name: Lily Harley), each doubled as vocalists and stage performers. Thanks to
his parents, Charlie discovered his talents at an early age. He was only five years old when he made
his first appearance on stage as a fill in for his mother at a music hall performance. After that, his
passion for the performing arts could only grow larger. However, his life took a dramatic turn after his
father left and his mother was subsequently put into an asylum, all before the age of ten. Because of
this, Charlie and his brother Sydney were set off on a hard journey where they were left to fend for
themselves. After two years spent with his half brother in an ill kept orphanage, doing his best to use
his mother s contacts to reach some sort of acting

To fully analyze Spring Creek, the collected samples must be representative of the depth and width of
this creek. To make sure that the width of all the samples was represented, the boat moved side to side
of the entire channel of as samples of the water surface were collected. To get samples that are
representative of the depth, the geologists sampled the upper 0.2 to 2.5m of the river using a three
meter long tube with a diameter of five centimeters. The shores of the Spring Creek were also sampled
in order to determine if there was any deposition of heavy metals along the shores (Alpers, Taylor,
Domagalski, 2000).
The EPA used data that was collected from the SCDD by the United States Bureau of Reclamation
(USBR) In the 1960s, the USBR dammed Spring Creek with the SCDD to prevent heavy metals from
dispersing throughout the Spring Creek water system. The installation of the dam allowed the USBR
to analyze the water collected from the SCDD for copper and zinc levels. From then on, the USBR

EPA tries to remediate the Iron Mountain Mine, they have been analyzing water samples from the
Spring Creek to determine if the levels have changed. Thanks to the efforts by the EPA, the levels of
contamination has reduced significantly by at least 80%. The percent reduction of heavy metals
continues to rise due to the efforts set by the EPA. Although the levels have declined, there still needs

demand for shipping. Henry Wells and William Fargo joined with several other New York investors to
create Wells, Fargo and Company to serve and profit from this demand. In July 1852, the company

The history of American Literature starts well before this land was even called America. It has been a
great evolution to come from tribal symbols and drawings to today s Stephen King and Danielle

American history. The earliest form of literature in what would one day be known as America were far
from what modern day people would consider Literature . The Natives who inhabited this land first

Mather s rewarding career included writings on science and medicine as well as theology and history.
His Sentiments on the Small Pox Inoculated (1721) was instrumental in introducing the smallpox

especially influential late in the 1700s. Travel narratives include Travels Through the Interior Parts of
North America (1778) by Jonathan Carver and Travels Through North and South Carolina, Georgia,
East and West Florida, the Cherokee Country, etc (1791) by William Bartram . Travel stories often
blended observations on nature and landscape with tales of personal courage and achievement. The
first American newspaper, the Boston News Letter, was founded in 1704, and joined by the Boston
Gazette in 1719. At a time when newspaper journalism was concerned primarily with reporting
political events, the New England Courant, started by James Franklin in 1721, became the first
newspaper to include literary entertainment. Franklin s younger brother Benjamin Franklin published
humorous social commentary in the Courant under the pen name of Silence Dogwood . Magazines
also appeared for the first time in the colonies during the mid 1700s. Before 1800 magazines were
concerned primarily with measuring America s developing culture against the British model. During
the 1700s Boston and Philadelphia became centers of publishing in addition to being political and
commercial centers.

Since the 1930 s lysergic acid diethylamide, also known as the hallucinogen LSD, has been a topic of
controversy and mystery. The components of LSD are lysergic acid and diethylamide. As part of the

31. The Films Of Federico Fellini Analysis
Bondanella, P. (2002). The Films of Federico Fellini. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press.
The Films of Federico Fellini examines the career and work of Italy s most revered filmmakers. By
analyzing the masterpieces of Fellini, the book attempts to categorize the influence of his work, and
explain some of his interests in fantasy, the irrational, and individualism. Bondanella essentially
rejects more common ways of analyzing Fellini s work and favors trying to explore the development
of his unique and personal cinematic style. Bondanella highlights some of the major accomplishments
in the life of the renowned Italian filmmaker. One of the most striking features of Bondanella work is
his ability to tell the story of Fellini by using the works of the filmmaker. In particular, Bondanella is
able to draw on a new archive of manuscripts, obtained from Fellini and his scriptwriters. This level of
in depth analysis allows researchers to get a detailed view of Fellini s work that has inspired
generations of not only Italian filmmakers, but also in the rest of the world. The author suggests that
Fellini s use of realism in film allows the audience to connect on a whole another level of intimacy
with the characters in the film, allowing for better characterization in his cinema. We can use this
information accumulated by Bondanella to emphasize the tremendous importance of Fellini s work.

The Pure Voice in Tess of the D Urbervilles
Thomas Hardy often alludes to his heroine as the soft and silent Tess. Soft certainly insinuates her
beauty, which Harrtainly insinuates her beauty, which Hardy stresses as her downfall. However, it
seems that Tess s silence is the all pervading reason for her tragedies. The two men she encounters in
her life steal her voice: one with violence, the other with his own language (Jacobus 47). Tess
struggles with the damage that these men cause until redeeming herself through innocence.

This guilt convinces Tess that she must now travel to the D Urbervilles home and claim kin with them.

Media informs and influences us, as well as it impacts our perception, knowledge, attitudes, and

NextGen is a tremendous, historic shift to revamp the U.S. air transportation system. This all
embracing initiative integrates new and existing policies, procedures, and technologies, including
satellite navigation and advanced digital communications. Two major parts of this upgrade and
modernization include, but not limited to, Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System
(STARS) and En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM). These systems enable NextGen
capabilities in all phases of flight and safety. STARS for instance, replaces multiple automation
systems for controllers who provide control services to pilots in terminal airspace and the airspace
immediately surrounding major airports. Additionally, ERAM combines flight plan information with
surveillance data from Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS B), Wide Area Multi

System Wide Information Management (SWIM), which provides the digital data sharing backbone of
NextGen. SWIM also connects producers and users of data with a common language and single point

38. Henry Viii Wholly Surrendered Power
Do you agree with the view that in the years 1515 1525 Henry VIII wholly surrendered power in
government to Cardinal Wolsey?
To a certain extent within Source 4 (by J.J. Scarisbrick 1968) supports the idea that possibly Henry
VIII actually did surrender power over to Wolsey. The evidence within the source that suggests this
possibly for being the truth is a self indulgent King had wholly surrendered the cares of the state into
the Cardinals hands . To further support this case, it is clear that Wolsey was extremely powerful, he
had vast amounts of bishoprics (Archbishop of Canterbury, Tournai, Durham just to name a few) and
was the head of things such as the Star Chamber where Wolsey got himself heavily involved with.
This is shown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Source 5 written in 1994 by John Lotherington, appears to disagree with that of the view of
source 4. In parts it appears to actually agree with source 4, Wolsey held a dominant position in
government and controlled the distribution of patronage but then the source continues to say, And of
course the ultimate source of all power was the King . This quote can be proven true with examples of
Henry preventing Wolsey from doing something, such as in 1523 when Wolsey launched a sea attack
upon the French without the kings permission, this led to Wolsey having to apologize for his actions.
This shows that Henry still had control over Wolsey and that he couldn t get away with something so
easily. Also even though source 4 claims that Wolsey had very strong control, that even with this
power he couldn t prevent such things like The Amicable Grant of 1525 from being a disaster, and
without aids from The Dukes of Norfolk and Suffolk it could have been an even more disastrous, this
proves Henry was more in control than Wolsey because the Dukes only subdued the rebellions on
Henry s behalf, not Wolsey s. This is showing how Henry had not wholly surrendered his government
power, and could still contest Wolsey s decisions and problems. The source was also written in 1994,
therefore the historians view is likely to be more factual rather than written in the period and being
more biased, as can be the case, especially if that figure in

40. Analysis Of The Film Gibber Eidolon
Greetings from the Abyss. The name s Charles Chadwick, and for the last 7 years I have poured
thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of labor into my film Gibber Eidolon. The film is shot
entirely on black and white Super8 film, and uses a myriad of techniques. From hand painted film, to
video generation loss, to hand processing, to found footage and traditionally shot sequences.
The title of the film roughly translates to Babbling Ghost. Babbling from fear or shock. The Gibber
Eidolon is a being that is not quite there because it is suffused with terror. Its perspective is of diffused
chaos.
Concretely, the film is a tour of various San Francisco Bay Area graveyards; almost all of them have
residents going back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Also, the film contains live footage of historic
computer technology, both operational and not. Found footage/archival footage in this same vein is
used as well, in addition to appropriated visual material whose subject matter differs...used mainly for
metaphoric illustration. The work contains footage shot over the last 15 years, as well as found
footage acquired over a period of roughly 13 years.
This movie is first and foremost diaristic. It contains my life: the places I ve been and the way I ve
responded to them, and the ideas I ve had along the way. It is a work of spirit.

41. Company Case Analysis Essay
1. Question: Explain the importance of risk adjustment in the capital budgeting allocation process by
answering the following questions. a. Explain why risk adjustments are important and how they can
affect firm value. b. Explain how the single hurdle rate currently used by Northern Forest Products can
change the risk structure of the company. For example, think about what would happen if the Plastic
Products Division received a disproportionately high level of funding because their returns exceed the
company hurdle rates (its growth rate substantially exceeds the corporate average). Assuming that the
risk of the division remains unchanged, what effect would this have, over time, on NFP s corporate
beta and on the overall cost of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NFP will face an increase in the level of risk as well as the overall cost of capital. Now supposing
Plastic Products Division received a disproportionately high level of funding because their returns
exceed the company hurdle rates. Unfortunately, the division s beta is 1.28, larger than the corporate
beta reported by ValueLine (1.04) and Merrill Lynch (1.12). As NFP invests more in riskier division
and the division s beta remains unchanged, NFP s new beta and the overall cost of capital would
gradually increase a lot more than the current one, which later poses a threat to the company itself. 2.
Question: Explain the rationale behind using beta as a measure of risk. Compute the company s beta
based on the divisional betas and compare it with that provided by Value Line and Merrill Lynch.
Explain some of the inconsistencies that can be found in reported betas. Do historical betas provide
good measures of the future riskiness of firms (or divisions)? ______________________________
Beta is an effective measure of risk. Unlike standard deviation, beta is a measure of a stock s
systematic, or market risk, which cannot be diversified away. To investors, it is considered to be the
most important measure. Now we are about to take a closer look at NFC s beta. According to Northern
Forest Products case, we have the following data table:

42. Another aspect of emotional attraction is reciprocity,...
Another aspect of emotional attraction is reciprocity, which by definition has to do with a mutuality of
some sort. In respect to attraction, it is the mutual interest. Human beings tend to like those who like
them and dislike those who dislike them. The perfect illustration of this effect is the middle school
drama scene. Most of us have probably heard or even said a line something to the effect of, I don t like
her/him because they talked badly of me. Inversely, when another individual expresses an interest in
you, you probably feel a sense of accomplishment or flattery that causes you to show an interest in
them as well (Sternberg, 2013). As much as we would like to think we left this attitude in middle
school, it follows us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The types of things that those who are emotionally attracted to one another have in common depends
on what those specific people value most. While having things in common with another is beneficial
to emotional attraction, there must also be a balance of some sort. Sternberg states, Couples are indeed
happiest when they complement each other on the dimension of dominance/submission but are about
the same on the dimension of warmth (2013). It is important that two individuals have many values
and interests in common, but equally important for their strengths and weaknesses to balance. A
common example of this is one partner being spontaneous, while the other is rational and level
headed. Couples are best happy together when a working balance for them has been reached. Arguably
the biggest factor in emotional attraction is personality. But even personality ties back into similarity
versus complementarity. There could never be a dictionary definition of what makes a good
personality because it is subjective to the individual who is evaluating the other s personality. Couples
work best when their personalities are enough alike that they share many of the same perspectives and
opinions, but also different enough that they can provide balance for each other. Social
constructionism not only plays a role in physical attraction, but is key in emotional

43. Joseph Stalin s Use Of Sexism In Russia
Crude, primitive, vulgar ; muddle instead of music ; a cacophonous and pornographic insult to the
Soviet people . Pravda, the Soviet government newspaper, made these comments after Joseph Stalin
attended a 1936 performance of Dmitri Shostakovich s opera. His second and final opera, Lady
Macbeth of Mtsensk, got it him into all sorts of trouble because it denounced sexism in Russia. After
this intense criticism from the government and threats of arrest, Shostakovich was forced to withdraw
the premiere of his equally controversial Fourth Symphony. In order to please the government, he
quickly put together a more traditional, triumphant Fifth Symphony (1937); he even referred to it as a
Soviet artist s reply to just criticism.

Malik is completely non verbal. He communicates through only American Sign Language and/ or
gestures. Once I was asked by a woman inquiring about my relationship with my brother, How do you
know he loves you? I did not have to think for very long to come up with an answer. I can tell he loves
me when he gets upset and comes to me for a hug. I can tell he loves me when I put him to bed and he
wants me to sit with him until he falls asleep. I can tell he loves me with every tiny gesture of
affection or appreciation. Noticing these things without a doubt made me the person I am today. His
loving personality has made me want to be a more caring person for as long as I can remember. Seeing
the joy he is able to evoke in others gives me the motivation to provide people that same happiness.
My brother, Malik, is the most influential person in my life. He constantly makes me want to be a
better person, not only for him, but also for everyone else. My brother continually inspires me to show
love however I can and to go above and beyond. If Malik, with an abundance of communication and

Section 1
Presentation
To encourage missions in dangerous situations, flying stages that are little, spry and can take of
vertically are of investment. A stage that satisfies these necessities is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial
Vehicle) as a multicopter joined with a great control framework. A multicopter is a rotorcraft that has

Multicopters have altered cutting edges with a pitch that are not conceivable to control, as it
accomplishes for a helicopter (through the swashplate), to control the bearing of the rotor push.
Rather, the rate of the rotors are shifted to accomplish movement control of a multicopter. For a
tricopter, there is additionally a servo joined that can tilt one of the engines and by that accomplish a
change in movement. Multirotor air ships are regularly utilized within model and radio controlled
activities due to the straightforward development and control. Because of the amount of rotors, the
extent of them doesn t have to be substantial in examination with a helicopter that just has one rotor to
actuate enough drive to lift it up. Uavs are frequently utilized within spots where it is troublesome for
a man to work in, for example, perilous situations, soak landscape and so forth. It is likewise a suitable

Experiments done on the effectiveness of police during the 1970 s showed that traditional methods of
policing were not effective in decreasing the amount of crime on the streets. Until the early 1970 s
most states used the indeterminate sentencing method which allowed parole boards the authority to
allow offenders to be released early. The idea of indeterminate sentencing came about in the mid 1800
s and was preferred over determinate sentencing because determinate sentencing allowed no room for
reform. Because of the dissatisfaction with indeterminate sentencing and the pressure for longer
sentencing, there was a policy implemented in the 1980 s which made it mandatory to have a guide for
the minimum amount of time served as well as new sentencing guidelines. This method caused
inmates to serve more time and because of this, there became a problem with overcrowding. To
alleviate the overcrowding, inmates were then available to get sentence reduction because of good
behavior and also with certain work programs they could be released early by the building up of
earned time credit. In 1984 the first truth in sentencing laws were in acted. These laws required that
prisoners serve a substantial portion of their sentence. To ensure that offenders served the majority of
