My Career As A Career Autobiography
A career autobiography has to probably be one of the most interesting and thoughtful essays I ve had
to write so far. I am seventeen years old and am attending my first semester in college. I look forward
to getting good grades, opening my mind to new things, and eventually graduating college. However, I
have absolutely no idea what I want to be doing in the future. My indecisiveness is at such a high level
that I probably change my future career every other day. At this point in life, my family, advisors, and
professors are telling me that I don t need to know what I want to be doing for a living, in the future,
yet, I feel that I should know. I don t want to be wasting my time and taking unnecessary classes. The
thoughts about my future career leave me to be extremely indecisive and nervous, at times. I just hope,
like people have told me, that It comes to me. In regards to my interests and skills, I prefer math and
science over reading and history, but it is not because I do poorly in the subjects. I enjoy solving
problems and learning about the human body and all the fascinating things it can perform, voluntarily
and involuntarily. I am a studious individual and received high grades throughout my educational
career, which I hope continues on in college. Striving to do the best is something vital in wanting to
accomplish something in life. Being that I am a first generation child, one from parents who are
immigrants from Montenegro, Europe, I have some skills which

The Historical Prevalence Of Bisexuality Essay
The historical prevalence of bisexuality is hard to determine because same sex sexual activity has
traditionally been very stigmatized; furthermore bisexuality is often ignored in historical discussions
of sexual orientation. Nonetheless, over the past few decades, the status quo with regard to same sex
sexual activity has changed drastically. The repeal of anti gay laws and the 2003 supreme court
decision Lawrence v. Texas which eliminated all remaining sodomy laws in the United States, the
removal of homosexuality from its designation as a sexual disorder in the DSM, the existence of high
profile LGBTQ figures, and the push for, and legalization of gay marriage in the United States and
other western countries have all been significant contributing factors toward the normalization of same
sex sexual activity. The general public has experienced increased exposure to the LGBTQ community,
and as a result, acceptance of sexual minorities, including bisexual individuals, has grown.
In spite of the progress toward acceptance of bisexual individuals, many people still view sexual
orientation as dichotomous, which contributes to the erasure and/or invisibility of the bisexual
community (Alarie Gaudet 2013). Some also perceive bisexuality as a transitional identity between
heterosexuality and homosexuality, or believe that people who identify as bisexual are just too afraid
to come out as homosexual (Israel and Mohr 2003; Alarie Gaudet 2013). Some studies have

Qing Dynasty Of China And Tokugawa Shogunate
Transformations in China and Japan In both the cases of the Qing Dynasty of China and the Tokugawa
Shogunate of Japan, their rule prospered until the centuries old dynastic systems were overthrown in
both countries. In their own ways the Qing and Tokugawa shared similarities yet also displayed many
differences in how they were overthrown, their impacts, and the forces that overall led to the change at
the end of these systems. Their influential powers from the 1600s to the early 19th century brought
great change to their countries that were seen well at first, but the people were not happy with either
complete outcome, overall leading to the definite ends of the two powers despite their differences
throughout. In the mid 1600s, rebellion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For both, the leaders of each had to eventually sign treaties which angered the people and caused
much discontent. In Japan, the shogun gave in and signed the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1854. The people
felt that the shogun had given in too easily to the wants of westerners and were getting angry. In China
after the Boxer Uprising, Cixi was forced to sign a treaty the created reform in China. She had not
been doing what was right with the purpose of the Boxers, and other countries needed her to take more
control than let it happen as she was doing (China and the New Imperialism). Connected to the
Boxers, in both countries foreigners caused conflict, causing even more anger among the people. For
Cixi, the Boxers were fueled by hatred for foreigners, and she saw it as no real problem for what they
were doing, even though it was literally hurting and killing the foreign people. In Japan, Commodore
Matthew Perry came from the United States, opening up ideas of trade that Japan had to truly think
about. They had been isolated for 200 years, and suddenly many foreigners from different countries
were coming to trade with them. By agreeing to trade, the shogun made many of his people angry and
ultimately led to his own downfall (Japan and the West). Also by overall changing policies that both
countries had relied on for so long, it created an almost inevitable change that the people could

Light Fidelity (Li-Fi)
INTRODUCTION For years, infrared LED has been merely a system for piping light around corners
and into the inaccessible places to allow the hidden to be lighted. But now, infrared LED has evolved
into a system of significantly greater importance and use. Throughout the world, it is now being used
to transmit voice, television and data signals as light waves. Its advantages as compared with
conventional coaxial cable or twisted wire pairs are manifold. As a result, millions of dollars are being
spent to put these light wave communication systems into operation. One of the most interesting
developments in recent years in the field of telecommunication is the use of laser light to carry
information over large distances. It has been proved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
RECEIVER SECTION: This section is worked as a Flip flop (Bistable). IC 3 is decade counter, its Pin
No.14 is input and Pin No. 2 output. The output of frequency detector stage is used, via a flip flop, to
switch ON or switch OFF a LED alternately. The receiver uses infrared modules IR signal from the
transmitter is sensed by the sensor through and its output PIN 1 goes low and switched LED. IC 3 is
worked on clock pulse which receives to infrared modules at Pin No. 14. Its output at Pin No 2
throughes high. The output of IC 2 is also used for lighting LED 1 indicating presence of signal. When
no signal is available output of sensor module goes high and transistor LED is switched OFF . When
another signal arrives, LED is switched ON and through clock pulse at Pin No. 14 of IC 3. This makes
the LED to switch ON the appliance at first pulse and OFF the appliance at its Second pulse arrived at
its sensor. Transmitter circuits works satisfactorily with 6 9V DC. Battery but receiver circuits needs
6V regulated supply. The CAMD CM8870/70C provides full DTMF receiver capability by integrating
both the band split filter and digital decoder functions into a single 18 pin DIP, SOIC,or 20 pin PLCC
package. The CM8870/70C is manufactured using state of the art CMOS process technology for low
power consumption (35mW, MAX) and precise data handling. The filter section uses a switched

Jesus Identity
The identity of Jesus
1 Corinthians 3:2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it.
Understanding the true nature and identity of Jesus is a process, a journey, a lifelong commitment. It
cannot be proclaimed cold turkey just straight out of the blue.
Martin Kahler in a famous aphorism claimed that Mark is a passion narrative with an extended
introduction. However it is a necessary introduction. It is the milk before the solid food. If Mark had
began with Peter s declaration at chapter 8 it would ring hollow. The first eight chapters allow us to
see, as Peter saw, through Jesus teaching, healing, exorcisms, and preaching that there was something
much more than an amazing authoritative, divine man. These introductory

R. M. S. Titanic Persuasive Essay
What caused the unsinkable R.M.S Titanic to capsize down to the depths of the North Atlantic Ocean
and kill an abundant number of people? The R.M.S Titanic sank due to an assortment of obstacles;
however, it can be narrowed down to a few critical things. The survival of people was based on
availability of lifeboats and wealth class. Mr Joseph Bruce Ismay was a wealthy businessman who
built ships. Mr. Ismay made it away from this tragedy because of his wealth. An iceberg along with the
crew s ignorance and unreadiness caused the R.M.S Titanic to sink to the depths; however, Mr. Ismay

Mental Health History Of Schizophrenia
God must have been having a bad day, a father recently wrote me, when He allowed schizophrenia to
come into existence. E. Fuller Torrey, M.D. (Walsh, 1985)
1. History of schizophrenic theory Accounts of schizophrenia have been recorded all throughout
human history. From Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, Rome and India, all the way through the 15th and
17th centuries (Walker, 2003). It is difficult to truly ascertain whether or not this was schizophrenia or
other psychotic illnesses. My guess is it was probably both. Throughout mental health history, theory
on schizophrenia has changed in every aspect possible. Etiology, age of onset and even the disorder s
name has been changed, questioned, and changed yet again. The highly insightful ... Show more

Bleuler was an advocate for the psychoanalytic movement which had strong traction during his time.
Hafner (2014) writes that Bleuler classified the now hallmark symptoms of delusions and
hallucinations as accessory symptoms , since they were common in other psychotic disorders as well.
The basic symptoms, Bleuler argued, were the four A s, which stood for ambivalence, autism,
affective congruity and association disturbances. This is not surprising, since Bleuler was an advocate
of the psychoanalytic movement, so to Bleuler, emotional disturbances were obviously the cause of a
schizophrenic disturbance. The differing early views of Kraeplin and Bleuler are significantly
important to our current understanding of schizophrenia in the fact that both could be considered
partially correct. Kraeplin s claims could be, in today s terms, highlighting the neurobiological deficits
(such as gradual overall volumetric loss of key neuronal structures and genetic predispositions towards
structural deficits occurring during crucial developmental periods) that current researchers are
investigating as contributing causes of schizophrenia. On the other hand, Bleuler s claims of emotional
disturbances probably are not one of the primary causes of developing schizophrenia, but
schizophrenia s symptoms and comorbid disorders can be exacerbated by the schizophrenic individual

The Importance Of Healthy Eating Habits
Good nutrition is a fundamental part of a person s health (Corbin et al., 2016). Healthy eating habits
can reduce risks of disease and support healthy body composition. Eating a diet rich in nutrient dense
foods combined with a regular moderate exercise routine also reduces overall body fat. Poor eating
habits have been linked to four of the seven leading causes of death in the United States. It is
imperative to implement healthy choices and teach our children healthy eating habits so that we can
improve the overall health of families. There are tools available to help people to eat better and to
change to a healthier lifestyle. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has published in
depth informational literature on the best eating habits for Americans called the Dietary Guidelines for
Americans. Their website also provides a number of tools to help Americans make healthy decisions
and track their eating habits. Over the years I have not always made the healthiest dietary choices.
Over the last few years I have made several attempts at eating healthier including Beach Body s 21
Day Fix Diet and the Mediterranean Diet. I was not successful with either of these. Recently I have
started focusing on making more balanced meals that include a protein, a starch, and a vegetable. After
reading through the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, I see that I still have some work to do.
The USDA suggests that a variety of vegetables be consumed, with emphasis

Doctor Manette In A Tale Of Two Cities
The personality of Doctor Manette has greatly altered throughout the book due to realizing he is
capable of great feats. Doctor Manette was first terrified of the world and needed people to guide him
through daily tasks. After being released from prison after almost two decades in pure isolation, all
people and items of the world were unknown and strange. To cope with his anxiety, the Doctor turned
to shoemaking, working for countless hours in the Defarge s tavern. Meeting his daughter Lucie
helped greatly decrease this peculiar behavior, but the Doctor still did not have a sense of self. When
asked if he would like to have a life similar to what he had before he was imprisoned, the Doctor
responded, I hope you care to be recalled to life? And the old answer: I can t say (Dickens 57). It is
clear that the Doctor still believes and sees flashbacks from his horrors in prison, and therefore does
not know otherwise from it. He has been secluded from the outside world for so long that he cannot
make decisions for himself and does not know if he wants to continue living ... Show more content on

Road Bike Advantages And Disadvantages
MTB or ATB is an abbreviation for mountain or all terrain bicycle. Their construction differs from a
normal bicycle as they have suspensioned frame to stand the mountain trails, logging roads ,
washouts, loose gravel, roots and all other unpaved conditions they are often used in. Other than that
they have knobby treaded heavy duty wheels, more powerful brakes and lower gear ratios to withstand
steep hills with poor traction. As a result of this development in 1970s many kinds of different
mountain bikes appeared on the market as cross country, freeride and downhill MTBs.

It takes around five percent materials and energy used to make a car to build a bicycle and it produces
zero pollution.
Avoid pollution
You might think that a cyclist sucks up more pollution than a driver of a car or a bus passenger, but
this is wrong according to the research conducted by Imperial college in London. The car driver sucks
up more exhaust fumes (ultrafarine particles that can damage our lung cells),an average car driver
sucks up more than 100 000 particles per cubic centimeter, more than 10 times bigger amount of
inhaled pollution than the cyclist does, as the cyclist rides at the edge of the road not in the line of
exposure.

Beat illness
Forget about diets, riding is the best way to keep doctor away! Moderate exercise makes immune cells
more active so they re ready to fight off infection, says Cath Collins, a chief dietician at St. Georges
Hospital in London.
Lose weight
A lot of people think that running is the best way for slimming down. This is right but think about it if
a person weights 120kg and every time he hits his/her feet to the ground all of the force goes to the
skeleton. So start cycling, where most of the weight is supported by the saddle.

Government Privacy Analysis
How much do you know about the American government? Does the government respect the privacy of
their citizens? Is the government violating Americans privacy? In 2013 a guy named Edward Snowden
released government files that prove that the government has a file for every cell phone in America.
Meaning that every text message, photo, phone call, email, etc is being recorded, making it easier for
the government to track down anyone that they want. Americans privacy is being violated very
similarly to the privacy violations in 1984, a novel written by George Orwell. In the present day and in
1984 people could be easily tracked down and are being watched every second, of every day.
Personally I believe that the privacy shouldn t be violated for ... Show more content on

If anyone ever started to act suspicious or do unusual activity, the FBI will then pull up that person s
cell phone file, and review every text message, phone call, email, etc. Thanks to a guy named Edward
Snowden these files were released to show everyone the secret activity the government does behind
the people s backs. Edward Snowden worked for the NSA and had many important roles. When
Snowden came across these files he felt the need the documents because he believed that these types
of decisions should be determined by the public. And just like Edward Snowden I do strongly believe
that the government should not have made the decision of recording private information without
notifying us, the citizens. Even though these actions are meant to protect and to prevent, however this
is a total violation of privacy which is not ok.
In conclusion, every person with a cellular device does have a file that the government has just in
case. Cell phones are losing it s original purpose and should now be considered a tracking device. If
the government kept this secret, who knows what else they could be hiding. Personally it s frightening

hybrid cars, recycle, and use low energy light bulbs and appliances, which is great. However, most
Americans are unaware and uninformed about how meat effects global warming, our health, and how
much of our planet s water and resources meat production consumes. Meat contributes to global

The Monetary Policy Is The Rule Of The Interest Rate And...
The monetary policy is controlled by the Central Bank or Federal Reserve, it is the regulation of the
interest rate and money supply of a country. The Bank s monetary policy objective is to deliver price
stability low inflation and, subject to that, to support the Government s economic objectives including
those for growth and employment. Price stability is defined by the Government s inflation target of
2% (Bank of England). One of the most influential econometrics tools to define monetary policy is the
Taylor rule. This rule sets the interest rate above or below some neutral level to a degree which
depends on (i) the difference between current inflation and target inflation, and (ii) the difference
between actual and potential output the output gap (Vickers, 1999, p433). Taylor takes a simplistic
approach and bases his rule on the assumption that the interest rate depends on two definitive
variables; output gap and inflation. A significant rise in either or the two variables would lead to the
central banks responses and attempt to mitigate any economic instabilities.
Initially this rule became prominent in literature and widely accepted by both academics and
practitioners. However, recent financial events such as the crisis which is said to be proceeded to the
stock market crash and large movements in the asset prices in Japan and the United Sates, has lead to
increased scrutiny on the impact of volatility in stock prices and its relationship and impact on

Biomechanics Of The Tympanic Membrane
Darisha Jhutty
April 27, 2015
BIOE 154: Introduction to Biomechanics
Professor Norman
Biomechanics of the Tympanic Membrane
Background: Over the past years, bioengineers have applied different methods for modelling the
human ear. The human ear is an intricate biomechanical system with its primary function to sound
perception and reception. The ear is divided into 3 main components, each with its own unique
functions: the outer ear (pinna), the middle ear, and the inner ear. The outer ear, or the pinna, consists
of the auricle, the skin covered cartilage of the ear visible on the outside of the head, as well as the
opening to the auditory canal. The middle ear refers the air filled hollow space (tympanic cavity)
behind the eardrum or tympanic membrane. The tympanic membrane is a thin, cone shaped membrane
that separates the outer ear from the middle ear (Figure 1a). The tympanic membrane is made up of
two main parts: the fragile pars flaccida (upper region) and robust the pars tersa (lower region). The

Video Industry And Its Impact On Children
While we are enthusiasts of entertainment and thrilling action, we are parental figures to the next
generation of children on their way. Violence presented in media potentially affects children through
vivid depictions of gore and tragedy, blurring the line between reality and fictionalized drama. The
film industry and its supporters thrive off of these displays, drawing in crowds of spectators which
provide the industry with an extraordinary amount of profit. Although many of these parents are also
part of the viewing demographic of movies, concern looms in the access to this mature content. With
the expansion of technology, access to inappropriate scenes and games are accessible to a child who is

An alteration of ticket prices contains a solution for this case. Despite standards which impede the
youth s contact with violence in films and entertainment, there are many methods which break down
the systems placed, including ratings, in order to access this content and this is where the problem lies.
The film industry does not consider changing the appeal of entertainment due to this issue. The film
industry is dependent on adults and children alike in order to sustain their economic success. Without
the support of the general public, their profit would plummet and create chaos in the entertainment
industry itself. While not allowing children to attend rated R movies with their parents seems like the
simplest solution, it is not a plausible one. Upset parents and loss of profit for billion dollar companies
impedes this solution s implementation. The dangers of children being exposed to violence in media
content is a great concern to many but not to the film industry. Additionally, many parents are
uninformed and do not recognize the potential harm associated with exposing children to fictionalized
violence. For a solution to exist between concerned parents and an industry focused around profit,
negotiation has to benefit the multibillion dollar industry in its primary focus. In

Protest Against The Chinese Communist Party
With thousands left wounded, a seemingly countless number of citizens reported dead, and a nation
left in shambles, the Tiananmen Square Massacre was an unforgettable and shocking event in Chinese
history. Its significance, however, lies not in the number of casualties but in the nobility of its
aspirations and the power of its legacy. The Chinese Communist Party claimed that the nation, of long
history and tradition, was better off following its own path of political dictatorship rather than shifting
towards Western influences such as constitutional democracy. However, through the Tiananmen
Square Massacre, it was revealed that the citizens longed for unification through democracy, freedom
and human rights. The massacre also exposed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During Mao s time, he strongly stressed his principles of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural
Revolution . However, due to these philosophies, China s economic and social foundations crumbled
and was severely damaged. The country was severely poor and economic production slowed. After
Mao passed away, Deng Xiaoping emerged as Mao s successor. He launched comprehensive
economic reforms. These reforms aimed to decrease the role of the state in the economy and gradually
introduce private forms of production in agriculture and industry. Because of these reforms,
production increased by leaps and bounds and poverty was reduced dramatically. However, there was
a problem that was arising. There was a lot of corruption and nepotism that was beginning to take over
the economy. The gap between the wealthy and poor was growing and people began to see it as unfair.
Government officials were divided over what direction they wanted to take the country. Reformers
pushed for political liberalization and a plurality of ideas while conservatives believed there was too
much reform and so greater state control was needed to ensure social stability to better align with
China s socialist ideals. These problems are what led to the protests of students and citizens. During
the time period in which the Tiananmen Square protests began, there were many viewpoints against
the government and their ideas. While

The Benefits Of Computer Technology In Healthcare
Over the years, computer technology and the internet has made a drastic change around the world for
healthcare industry. The healthcare industry is continuing to give positive changes for patients and
employees thanks to computer technology. It has made it easier and more productive for patients and
employees. Now patients can feel more at ease during their doctor s visit because of the benefits of
technology.
In the first place, computer technology have made it more efficient for physicians. Now physicians
can work up patients faster, thanks to the computer programs that is provided for them. In order to aid
clinical decision making, it is important that data is collected and presented to the doctor as quickly as
possible; electronic systems are therefore advantageous in performing these tasks. (Tettegah 7) The
software applications that the hospital provides help physicians put in the orders so their patients can
get faster treatment. For example, the physician can order their patient to get an x ray when they are in
leg pain. Once the x ray is ordered the technician does the x ray and the physician can look at the
results in their computer so they can properly diagnosis and give them the proper treatment. The
programs can also help keep a log of patients previous visits so they can know the proper medication
to give to patients. The number one benefit cited by the developers is the patient focused benefit of
reducing medication errors and preventing allergic

For Many Years, Romanticism Dominated English Literature,
For many years, Romanticism dominated English literature, and consequently American literature, as
American writers were heavily influenced by the English. Writers like Poe and Hawthorne were
leaders in this form of literature. As thinking changed scientifically, philosophically and spiritually, so
did literature. Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn showed American culture in a way it had never been
shown, and in doing so became arguably the most famous piece of realist literature. His novel
exemplifies the rejection of romantic ideals. Realism started in France, as the rejection of the popular
romantic novels. While romantic novels were usually overly dramatic and emotional, realist novels

Huck s literalness and practicality sometimes make it difficult for him to even play and fantasize the
way children do. For example, Tom; a very romantic character, starts a gang with the local boys.Tom
says the gang must sign a blood oath, and if they leave the gang their whole family must be murdered.
He talks about how the gang will be highwaymen, robbing and killing caravans as they pass by. Huck,
being the realistic character he is, takes this completely literal. The gang conducts a raid on what Tom
said was a huge meeting between Spanish merchants and Rich A rabs; when it turns out to be a sunday
school picnic, Huck is disappointed. Tom then convinces Huck that Genies had made the whole thing
disappear, he then tells Huck how to get conjure the Genie. Huck tries, and reaction shows his realist
personality and his reluctance to trust superstition So then I judged that all that stuff was only just one
of Tom Sawyer s lies. I reckoned he believed in the A rabs and the elephants, but as for me I think
different. It had all the marks of a Sunday school. (Twain, 1884, p. 115, lines 3 5).
Huck deals with many hardships in his life, which is a very real concept, as everything is not always
perfect and easy. His hardships include a dead mother and a drunken father.

Fixed Rate Mortgage Loans
When shopping for a mortgage loan, the first thing to consider is which type of mortgage is right for
you. Mortgage loans come in two basic categories, fixed rate and adjustable rate; but within these two
categories, there are several other possible loan types that many consumers mistakenly don t take the
proper time to educate themselves about. In this article, we will be addressing fixed rate loans. Most
people know what the terms of a fixed rate mortgage entails; basically, the interest rate remains stable
over the life of the loan. Fixed rate loans generally come in both a 15 year and 30 year term. Recently,
some lenders also began offer both 10 year and 40 year terms as well. So which term is better? That

The payment on this loan for a 30 year, fixed rate loan would be $536.82 per month. Generally, the
shorter the term the lower the rate, so the payment for the same $100,000 loan on a 15 year, fixed rate
at an interest rate of 4.75% would be $777.83 per month or $241.01 higher than the 30 year loan.
Some people that can afford the 15 year rate might opt to pay the extra $241.01 and pay off their
mortgage in half the time, the only problem with this is once you sign up for the 15 year term you
must make this payment each and every month. If the extra $241.01 becomes difficult to make no
matter what the reason, the only way to reduce the payment is to refinance the property. However,
knowing this loan has no prepayment penalty in part means if you opt for the lower, 30 year payment,
you are still free to pay the extra $241.01 every month if you can afford it. Even at the higher rate of
5%, if you paid the $777.83 each month, the 30 year loan would be paid off in full in 15 years and 5
months. However, if at anytime you couldn t afford the extra $241.01, there would be no penalty and
you could avoid the cost of refinancing

Carpentry Has Had A Great Impact On The Construction Industry
Carpenters are the second largest group with more than 1.3 million carpenters in the workforce in the
United States. (Carpenters 481). Carpentry has had a great impact on the construction industry, such as
using hand and power tools to cut, shape, and combine wood, metal, and plastics. Carpentry is the
technique of working various different types of woods, metals, and plastics, shaping those products
into works art. A carpenter constructs and repairs building frameworks and structures. Carpenters
make stairways, door frames, partitions, and rafters out of wood and other materials, including metals
and metal products, concrete, plastics, and fiberglass. Some carpenters specialize in installing kitchen
cabinets, siding, and drywall. Although carpentry has many branches such as residential, commercial,
and industrial carpenters, the most common types include: rough carpentry and finish carpentry. (
Carpenters pg. 84) Rough carpentry is constructing and installing of temporary structures and
supporting structures. Carpenters use blueprints, sketches, and oral instruction from the home owner
to build the structures. They build and produce frames, rafters, floor joists, subflooring, wall
sheathing, prefabricated wall panels along with prefabricated windows, and many other components.
Rough carpenters also build parts of buildings that are covered up after the structure is completed,

The Postmodern Worldview And Its Popular Relativistic
In this paper I will consider the postmodern worldview and its popular relativistic claims alongside of
my theistic worldview where God almighty exist and as such, has revealed Himself to the world. For
the postmodern worldview, the ideas and behaviors of man are more of a perception of what reality is
and not an absolute. Phillips, Brown, and Stonestreet (2008) refer to postmodernism this way, The
focus of postmodernism is on how we perceive and how we describe what the world is (p.53). Further,
the postmodern interpretations of truth can be evaluated through the different communities, religions,

What do I believe to be true in with my theistic worldview and why do I believe it? Because of God s
revelation to and through His creation, I/we can see a purpose and a definitive plan for mankind.
History is ordained by God there is a purpose and a goal for the course of human and natural events
(p.97). In essence God s plan is for order and not chaos and His works are purposeful and through His
accord. For God is not a God of disorder but of peace as in all the congregations of the Lord s people
(1 Corinthians 14:33, New International Version). God s nature and character are also revealed to
mankind as is our duty to love one another. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God
is Love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son in to the world that
we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son
as an atoning sacrifice for our sins
(1 John 4:8 10, New International Version). God models the permanence love, a love that never fails
or dies and is eternal. Love is significant to the Creator and thus must be applied and carried out by the
created! God has also impressed on hearts a moral order and demonstrates His sovereignty, goodness,
and faithfulness to His creation. I believe, trust, and walk in this truth of God s

The Cascade Volcanic Arc
Stratovolcano and Shield volcanos are naturally occurring ruptures in the earth s crust. They have been
a part of our history for nearly 6,000 years and some say that they have been around longer than
dinosaurs. While these events are rather cool to watch, they are known to be some of the most
devastating natural disasters known to man. Volcanic hazards and eruptions continue to happen
throughout the entire world and crisis aversion is something that is becoming more and more
important.
Mount Saint Helens, located in the Cascade Volcanic Arc, is known to be one of the most deadliest
and disruptive volcanic eruptions in recent history. It has a height of roughly 8,300 feet and is a
stratovolcano. A stratovolcano is essentially a steep sided peak volcano that is very high in viscosity

The assumption is, that

specific changes in the geometry of the vessel (length, diameter, and wall structure/sti ness) resulting
from the natural aging process combined with changes they induce in the hemo dynamics, are the
primary cause of aneurysm formation. This assumption postulates, that the mentioned coupling
induces a segment of the aortic wall to degrade and simultaneously leads to a gradually increase of its
diameter.
A lot of research has been devoted to the fundmental mechanisms of aging in the arteries. Generally
spoken, the aging process leads to an increase in the arterial diameter and a sti ening as well as
thickening of the arterial wall. The median layer undergoes the bigger changes thinning out and losing
its orderly arrangement of elastin laminas and fibers. The elastin laminas and fibers become
fragmented and unorganized leading to decreasing elastic properties and increasing the sti ness [16].
From fluid mechanical viewpoint, the speed of the pulse wave in the artery increases, as sti ness goes
up with age. It was shown, that the wave speed nearly doubles for a 60 year old adult compared to a
10 year old child (from 6.5 m/s to upwards of 11 m/s) [17].
Studies found out, that the aging iliac

Two Versions of To Build a Fire by Jack London
The story To Build a Fire written by Jack London has two nearly identical versions published in 1902
and 1908 respectively. The latter is better known and more thought provoking because of the
protagonist s death. To begin with, the journey takes place on a cold winter day in Klondike, consists
of a man and his dog. The man is ignorant of the extreme coldness and feels confident about travelling
alone at fifty degrees below zero. However, he breaks through a thin skin of ice unexpectedly and
wets himself halfway to the knees. In order to dry his feet, the man builds a fire, only to have it
extinguished by a pile of snow unloaded from a tree. He tries to set up another fire, yet all attempts
has failed. The man panics and strives to unfreeze his body by running. Not surprisingly, his efforts
are useless, and the man dies of hypothermia at last. The author effectively supports the central
conflict of man versus nature and gives hints about the man s death as resolution by using appropriate
title, descriptive setting, and a large amount of foreshadowing.
First of all, the title is well chosen, for it gives the readers an overview of the story and supports the
plot effectively. Detailed descriptions of how to set up a fire and the man s continuous attempts to do
so reflect that the story evolves around the phrase to build a fire . Throughout his journey, if the man
succeeds in making a fire, it brings warmth, hope, and life; on the other hand, if he fails, it means

The Arab Israeli Conflict And Arab Palestinian Conflict
The Arab Israeli conflict is the political and military conflict between the nation of Israel and specific
Arab countries. The Arab Israeli conflict began in the late 19th century as a result of the rise of
Zionism and Arab nationalism. The two sides have fought over land that both parties regard as their
holy land. The Jews looked to reclaim the land promised to them by God after their escape from
slavery in Egypt. The Arabs, who already resided on and owned the land, looked to maintain their
ownership, which was a site of many historical events in the development of Islam. This struggle
between the two religions led to a battle for attaining sovereignty in the Middle East. The tension
between the two peoples eventually escalated into the Israeli Palestinian conflict in 1947, which in
turn evolved and developed into the broader Arab Israeli conflict.
To fully understand the viewpoints of both sides of this conflict and the history that comes with it, it is
necessary to know the movements that are at the root of all the tensions. These movements are the
Zionist movement, the Arab Nationalist movement and the Palestinian Nationalism movement.
Zionism is the national movement of Jews that supports the creation of a Jewish homeland in the Land
of Israel. The movement came to the forefront of global issue in the late 19th century. Zionism looks
to support the upholding of the Jewish identity. The movement opposes the assimilation of Jews into

Theories Of International Relations
International relations theory is the study of international relations (IR) from a theoretical perspective.
It attempts to provide a conceptual framework upon which international relations can be analyzed.
There are several international theories, realism, liberalism, idealism, Marxism and functionalism are
only few of the examples.
Like political scientist Stephen M. Walt who published a much cited survey of the field in, One World,
Many Theories, in 1998. I also believe that there are three dominant approaches: realism, liberalism,
and an updated form of idealism called constructivism that can explain the world order today. Walt
argued that these theories shape both public discourse and policy analysis. Realism focuses on the
shifting distribution of power among states. Liberalism highlights the rising number of democracies
and the turbulence of democratic transitions. Idealism illuminates the changing norms of sovereignty,
human rights, and international justice, as well as the increased potency of religious ideas in politics.
At realism s core is the belief that international affairs are a struggle for power among self interested
states. Clear sighted states can mitigate the causes of war by finding ways to reduce the danger they
pose to each other. Nor is realism necessarily amoral; its advocates that a ruthless pragmatism about
power can yield a more peaceful world, if not an ideal one. In recent decades, the realist approach has
been most fully articulated by

Love In The Time of Cholera Analysis Paper
Love in the Time of Cholera In the novel, Love in the Time of Cholera written by Gabriel García

flowers, birds, and rain. Márquez uses these similar terms to describe the effects of love and cholera
throughout the novel by using all of those symbols ultimately represent or foreshadow anguish and
unfortunate disasters that Cholera can bring. Cholera was a contagious disease affecting most of the

This was necessary for Florentino because he was suffering so much emotional pain he almost felt
dead, and physical pain was imperative for him to feel alive. Birds, like Cholera, lead to death.
Márquez uses the birds in the novel as an ironic message of love that soon leads to a disastrous end.
Birds were the reason why people died, just like Cholera will make people die. In the novel, Márquez
does not include a character that actually died from Cholera. However, he does include characters that
die from love sickness at the hands of birds. Since lovesickness serves as a parallel to Cholera, we can
assume that birds also represent Cholera, which is the fate of death. The most prominent example is
when Dr.Urbino tried to catch his beloved parrot and eventually fell to his death. The parrot that Dr.
Urbino spent countless hours of dedication and the bird that he had paid more attention than he did to
his own children, that lead ironically to his death. Another example when Olimpia Zuleta gave
Florentino a carrier pigeon as a thank you for rescuing her and her parasol. Florentino sent back the
carrier pigeon with an unsigned love note, and thus the romance between the two began. The Pigeon
that lead to a romance between the two soon ended when the husband discovered her infidelity and
Olimpia was killed. Both Dr.Urbino and Olimpia lose their lives to love, whether it be because of a

Bacchae Of Euripides Analysis
The Chorus was an integral part of the Greek tragedies, and this is no different in The Bacchae of
Euripides. This Chorus is made up of women celebrants of Dionysus, the Bacchae or Maenads. It is
important to understand that the Chorus is not made up of the women celebrants from Thebes. Instead,
the Chorus is made up of women who have traveled from Asia and followed Dionysus to Thebes.
These women are true initiates of the Bacchae, unlike the women from Thebes who have not been
officially inducted to the Maenads. This division makes it seem as though the women from Thebes are
undergoing a hazing or probationary period to be sure they are worthy of entering the Maenads. The
Chorus uses choral interludes to add commentary on what is happening ... Show more content on

The Chorus calls on him to arrive in one of his many different forms, such as the bull, serpent, or lion,
and to capture Pentheus in his fatal net (1018 1022). The Maenads will be the ones to finish the deed,
but the sighting of Dionysus will make them go into such a frenzy that Pentheus family, especially his
mother, will not even realize who it is that they are ripping to shreds. The initiated Maenads from Asia
already know the effect that the sighting would have on the women, so they call on Dionysus to show
himself so that the women inflict the appropriate justice on the man who questions Dionysus authority.
The overall message or lesson in The Bacchae of Euripides seems to be the importance of revering the
gods, and the punishment that could ensue if they are not properly worshipped and respected. The
interludes, especially the Fourth Chorus, warn of these punishments and the justice that will be served
if mortals cannot revere the powerful

Realism In Art And Art In The 19th Century
Realism began in France in the 1840 s. It was the first unconventional, anti institutional art movement.
It challenged Neoclassicism and Romanticism by diverting every ones attention to more social issues
which were brought by the disturbed and raging 19th century. In simpler words, Realism was, opposed
to the Romanticism ways of merely representing nature, an approach to art to position oneself in the
real , whether it was scientifically, morally, constitutionally, or even theoretically. When it comes to
theoretical beliefs, Realism incorporated the progressive aims of modernism. This was done through
pursuing new certainties, by reconsidering and capsizing customary systems of philosophies and
morals.
The realistic works developed with the introduction of photography. Through it, an invention of

felt the freedom to portray real life situations without aesthetics. Realism influenced impressionism

purpose of art overall. To this day, the characteristic style still manages to impact visual arts and thus
can be viewed as revolutionary. In the words Stokstad, Realism, reflected the positivist belief that art

Analysis Of Janice Mirikitani s Suicide Note
It s easy to feel worthless. Almost every person feels this deep emotion at some time in life, but people
handle it different. Everywhere people are always judging. Judgement from parents, from family, and
even from friends is inescapable. People can tear themselves down in many ways, such as through
school, not feeling they look good enough, and even just not feeling like they re ever good enough to
be living on Earth. In Janice Mirikitani s poem Suicide Note, it talks about an Asian American student
currently in college. She tries her hardest, she wants to succeed and make her parents proud. Her
parents have high standards for her, as they want her to receive a 4.0 grade point average. Although
she gives her best effort, her grade point average is still less than a 4.0, and for that reason her parents
are not proud of her, she s not their perfect, ideal daughter. So she enters that point where she no
longer feels proud of her accomplishments, she feels worthless, and unintelligent. She decides to
commit suicide by jumping out of a window in her college dorm. In her suicide note she apologizes to
her parents for not being good enough. Suicide Note is a free form poem, it has no set stanzaic pattern,
the sentences break in unexpected places, and the structure varies throughout the poem. It uses
imagery to connect with the reader, and the stanzas are set up in way that make the lines to appear as
they are falling. Through the use of enjambment, and end stopped line the

provided Darwin with evidence that if Earth can evolve so can living things. Lastley, Thomas Malthus
found that the more a population grows and reproduces the bigger the population comes. This leads to
competition of survival, means than there is less food for the whole population. Therefore the
organism compete to survive, reproduce, and find food. Darwin applied this population growth theory
to his ideas of population limits to plants and animals

The Pros And Cons Of Negligence Law
A) The topic concerning this case is negligence law. The issue is whether Simon would be successful
perusing a negligence claim.
Establishing negligence requires the plaintiff to prove the three elements of negligence before a court.
The elements are that, the defendant owed the plaintiff a duty of care, the duty of care was breached,
and that the harms suffered were directly related to the defendant s breach. For a successful claims the
plaintiff must satisfy all three by the balance of probabilities, which has been the case since Donohue
v Stevenson. Simon must therefore prove that there was a duty of care owed to him by the defendant,
his teacher, Mr Philpot. Therefore, he must prove that the harm suffered would have been reasonably
foreseeable due to the actions or omission of the defendant. In this case, Mr Philpot owes Simon a
duty of care, as it is reasonably foreseeable that a failure to provide sufficient supervision could result
in injury when considering the nature of the environment they are in and the age of the students.
Therefore, the first element is satisfied.
The Civil Liabilities Act 2002 defines negligence as a failure on the part of the defendant which
results in the harm of the plaintiff which could have been prevented by taking reasonable care. The
breach of duty must be foreseeable, Sullivan v Moody. The risk must be not insignificant, and a
reasonable person under similar circumstances would have taken precaution against the harm. In this
case

Example Of Dichotomy
Victor Hanson s article lacks supporting evidence and provides a narrow point of view to a complex
situation. When evaluating information and determining if it is logically compelling, the premises
must be acceptable, relevant, and sufficient. The article does not meet the required premises because it
lacks sufficient support and contains several logical fallacies.
The premise of the article is that the United States will continue to decline and potentially cease to
exist if they continue to reduce defense spending and increase social spending, which results in more
government dependent citizens. The premise is a slippery slope fallacy. A slippery slope logical fallacy
occurs when a predicted outcome is based on a specific chain reaction, but there is not enough
evidence to support the chain reaction will occur or produce the predicted outcome.
The article references four different historical civilizations that failed because their citizens grew
dependent on the government and because their government cut defense spending. The historical
civilizations mentioned lack similarities to the U.S. government s structure, current international
relations, military capability and economic capacity. The increase in government ... Show more

The article over simplifies the correlation and reasons behind budget management and its impacts on
security. Instead of making assumptions, it is imperative to identify the root cause or reason behind a
decision. The article uses Europe as an example and defines the European Union (EU) as insolvent
and defenseless. The EU contains some countries with financial issues and a multitude of others with a
wide range of defense and social budgets. The generalization without specific supporting facts reduces

The Pony Express
The Pony Express was an extremely important event in history for three profoundly reasons. All
together, it helped the farther east states to keep in contact with the West with all the news of what was
happening, important documents, and sometimes small packages and family letters that were being
sent from different states. It helped for new and more improved ideas of how could the spreading of
news could be spread faster and safer. The good reason of keeping all the states in contact with all the
others is because families moved or members of a family moved to further states for jobs. Travelers
went in search for wealth and land and with the California Gold Rush people went to get a better life.
But with the rush to go find gold, that left many people in need to know what was going and if their
love ones found anything and what documents are being passed because of the California Gold rush.
Especially when California became a state it put extreme pressure upon the citizens, business, and all
miners alike for electing U.S government representatives. Furthermore people wanted to keep in touch
with their friends, family, and companies. As the tremendous threat of the Civil War about to break out
and the Southern states rebelling because of the refusing to give up slavery and with other things
causing the Civil War to happen. It opened up the eyes of many companies. Some seen what could
become of their success if the Civil War did happen and the companies wanted a way

Analysis Of Whale Done By Ken Blanchard
The book, Whale Done, written by Ken Blanchard, exemplifies how a business manager named Wes
Kinsley learns the key to managing relationships while on a trip to SeaWorld. Kinsley uncovers the
secret to managing positive relationships with people by witnessing how trainers at SeaWorld receive
incredible responses from their whales by highlighting their positive behaviour, and ignoring or
redirecting their negative behaviours. In the book, Blanchard contrasts the GOTcha manager, one who
seeks to only accentuate the negative properties of individuals actions with the WHALE DONE
manager, who highlights and tries to reinforce positive behaviour. The goal of Blanchard is for readers
to understand the application of the Whale Done! management ... Show more content on

However, Blanchard fails to discuss the importance of negative responses in communication. Negative
responses are useful in order to keep workers inline and stopping them from breaking rules. It can be
necessary in many situations; however, managers of today still abuse negative responses. There are
examples of modern day managers using negative responses and finding success. For example, John
Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League has found
success from yelling at players and criticizing them, but he actually went on to win the Stanley Cup in
2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning the Jacks Adam award for attributing the most to his
teams success. (Cooper, 2015). He is often seen as a villain in the hockey community, but his success
is clearly attributable to his negative responses and negative attitude. This tough relationship he has
with his players must improve their play because he has been a coach on and off in the league since
2001. Blanchard s ideologies clearly go against everything John Tortorella stands for, but there is no
denying his success. This style of management can be successful in some places, and modern
managers have to understand when to apply this style. Clearly Blanchard s methods are successful, but
so are

The Titanic Research Paper
The Titanic
The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after colliding
with an iceberg in the morning of 15th April 1912 during her maiden voyage from Southampton to
New York City.
The RMS Titanic was the second of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line.
It was built in Belfast by the Harland and Wolff shipyard with Thomas Andrews as her naval architect.
There were around 2,224 passengers and crew on board the ship on her maiden voyage, of which
1,500 were lost.
The ship could accommodate 833 First Class Passengers, 614 Second Class Passengers and 1,006
Third Class Passengers, making a total passenger capacity of 2,453. In addition to this, her capacity

The Third Class facilities also including their own dining rooms as well as public areas including deck
space, a smoking room for men and a reading room for women, although these were not as glamorous
in design as the First Class facilities.
However, even though the facilities and accommodations for Third Class passengers were less
luxurious as First and Second Class, they were much better than on any other ships at the time. On
many North Atlantic ships, Third Class accommodation was little more than open dormitories were
hundreds of people were confined without adequate food or toilet facilities. White Star Line vessels
provided their Third Class passengers with small, but private and comfortable cabins accommodating
two, four, six, eight and ten passengers.
The Titanic carried a total of twenty lifeboats. Fourteen of these were standard wooden lifeboats
capable of carrying 65 people each, four collapsible lifeboats with wooden bottoms and collapsible
canvas sides with a total capacity of 47 people each, and two emergency cutters with the ability to
hold 40 people each. However, this meant that the Titanic only carried enough lifeboats for 1,178
people slightly more than half of the number on board, due to the belief that the ships s constuction

  • 2. My Career As A Career Autobiography A career autobiography has to probably be one of the most interesting and thoughtful essays I ve had to write so far. I am seventeen years old and am attending my first semester in college. I look forward to getting good grades, opening my mind to new things, and eventually graduating college. However, I have absolutely no idea what I want to be doing in the future. My indecisiveness is at such a high level that I probably change my future career every other day. At this point in life, my family, advisors, and professors are telling me that I don t need to know what I want to be doing for a living, in the future, yet, I feel that I should know. I don t want to be wasting my time and taking unnecessary classes. The thoughts about my future career leave me to be extremely indecisive and nervous, at times. I just hope, like people have told me, that It comes to me. In regards to my interests and skills, I prefer math and science over reading and history, but it is not because I do poorly in the subjects. I enjoy solving problems and learning about the human body and all the fascinating things it can perform, voluntarily and involuntarily. I am a studious individual and received high grades throughout my educational career, which I hope continues on in college. Striving to do the best is something vital in wanting to accomplish something in life. Being that I am a first generation child, one from parents who are immigrants from Montenegro, Europe, I have some skills which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Historical Prevalence Of Bisexuality Essay The historical prevalence of bisexuality is hard to determine because same sex sexual activity has traditionally been very stigmatized; furthermore bisexuality is often ignored in historical discussions of sexual orientation. Nonetheless, over the past few decades, the status quo with regard to same sex sexual activity has changed drastically. The repeal of anti gay laws and the 2003 supreme court decision Lawrence v. Texas which eliminated all remaining sodomy laws in the United States, the removal of homosexuality from its designation as a sexual disorder in the DSM, the existence of high profile LGBTQ figures, and the push for, and legalization of gay marriage in the United States and other western countries have all been significant contributing factors toward the normalization of same sex sexual activity. The general public has experienced increased exposure to the LGBTQ community, and as a result, acceptance of sexual minorities, including bisexual individuals, has grown. In spite of the progress toward acceptance of bisexual individuals, many people still view sexual orientation as dichotomous, which contributes to the erasure and/or invisibility of the bisexual community (Alarie Gaudet 2013). Some also perceive bisexuality as a transitional identity between heterosexuality and homosexuality, or believe that people who identify as bisexual are just too afraid to come out as homosexual (Israel and Mohr 2003; Alarie Gaudet 2013). Some studies have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Qing Dynasty Of China And Tokugawa Shogunate Transformations in China and Japan In both the cases of the Qing Dynasty of China and the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan, their rule prospered until the centuries old dynastic systems were overthrown in both countries. In their own ways the Qing and Tokugawa shared similarities yet also displayed many differences in how they were overthrown, their impacts, and the forces that overall led to the change at the end of these systems. Their influential powers from the 1600s to the early 19th century brought great change to their countries that were seen well at first, but the people were not happy with either complete outcome, overall leading to the definite ends of the two powers despite their differences throughout. In the mid 1600s, rebellion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For both, the leaders of each had to eventually sign treaties which angered the people and caused much discontent. In Japan, the shogun gave in and signed the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1854. The people felt that the shogun had given in too easily to the wants of westerners and were getting angry. In China after the Boxer Uprising, Cixi was forced to sign a treaty the created reform in China. She had not been doing what was right with the purpose of the Boxers, and other countries needed her to take more control than let it happen as she was doing (China and the New Imperialism). Connected to the Boxers, in both countries foreigners caused conflict, causing even more anger among the people. For Cixi, the Boxers were fueled by hatred for foreigners, and she saw it as no real problem for what they were doing, even though it was literally hurting and killing the foreign people. In Japan, Commodore Matthew Perry came from the United States, opening up ideas of trade that Japan had to truly think about. They had been isolated for 200 years, and suddenly many foreigners from different countries were coming to trade with them. By agreeing to trade, the shogun made many of his people angry and ultimately led to his own downfall (Japan and the West). Also by overall changing policies that both countries had relied on for so long, it created an almost inevitable change that the people could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) INTRODUCTION For years, infrared LED has been merely a system for piping light around corners and into the inaccessible places to allow the hidden to be lighted. But now, infrared LED has evolved into a system of significantly greater importance and use. Throughout the world, it is now being used to transmit voice, television and data signals as light waves. Its advantages as compared with conventional coaxial cable or twisted wire pairs are manifold. As a result, millions of dollars are being spent to put these light wave communication systems into operation. One of the most interesting developments in recent years in the field of telecommunication is the use of laser light to carry information over large distances. It has been proved in ... Understanding the true nature and identity of Jesus is a process, a journey, a lifelong commitment. It cannot be proclaimed cold turkey just straight out of the blue. Martin Kahler in a famous aphorism claimed that Mark is a passion narrative with an extended introduction. However it is a necessary introduction. It is the milk before the solid food. If Mark had began with Peter s declaration at chapter 8 it would ring hollow. Fuller Torrey, M.D. (Walsh, 1985) 1. History of schizophrenic theory Accounts of schizophrenia have been recorded all throughout human history. From Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, Rome and India, all the way through the 15th and 17th centuries (Walker, 2003). It is difficult to truly ascertain whether or not this was schizophrenia or other psychotic illnesses. My guess is it was probably both. Throughout mental health history, theory on schizophrenia has changed in every aspect possible. Etiology, age of onset and even the disorder s name has been changed, questioned, and changed yet again. The highly insightful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bleuler was an advocate for the psychoanalytic movement which had strong traction during his time. Hafner (2014) writes that Bleuler classified the now hallmark symptoms of delusions and hallucinations as accessory symptoms , since they were common in other psychotic disorders as well. The basic symptoms, Bleuler argued, were the four A s, which stood for ambivalence, autism, affective congruity and association disturbances. This is not surprising, since Bleuler was an advocate of the psychoanalytic movement, so to Bleuler, emotional disturbances were obviously the cause of a schizophrenic disturbance. The differing early views of Kraeplin and Bleuler are significantly important to our current understanding of schizophrenia in the fact that both could be considered partially correct. Kraeplin s claims could be, in today s terms, highlighting the neurobiological deficits (such as gradual overall volumetric loss of key neuronal structures and genetic predispositions towards structural deficits occurring during crucial developmental periods) that current researchers are investigating as contributing causes of schizophrenia. On the other hand, Bleuler s claims of emotional disturbances probably are not one of the primary causes of developing schizophrenia, but schizophrenia s symptoms and comorbid disorders can be exacerbated by the schizophrenic individual s ... • 10. The Importance Of Healthy Eating Habits Good nutrition is a fundamental part of a person s health (Corbin et al., 2016). Healthy eating habits can reduce risks of disease and support healthy body composition. Eating a diet rich in nutrient dense foods combined with a regular moderate exercise routine also reduces overall body fat. Poor eating habits have been linked to four of the seven leading causes of death in the United States. It is imperative to implement healthy choices and teach our children healthy eating habits so that we can improve the overall health of families. There are tools available to help people to eat better and to change to a healthier lifestyle. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has published in depth informational literature on the best eating habits for Americans called the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Their website also provides a number of tools to help Americans make healthy decisions and track their eating habits. Over the years I have not always made the healthiest dietary choices. Over the last few years I have made several attempts at eating healthier including Beach Body s 21 Day Fix Diet and the Mediterranean Diet. I was not successful with either of these. Recently I have started focusing on making more balanced meals that include a protein, a starch, and a vegetable. After reading through the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, I see that I still have some work to do. The USDA suggests that a variety of vegetables be consumed, with emphasis ... To cope with his anxiety, the Doctor turned to shoemaking, working for countless hours in the Defarge s tavern. Meeting his daughter Lucie helped greatly decrease this peculiar behavior, but the Doctor still did not have a sense of self. When asked if he would like to have a life similar to what he had before he was imprisoned, the Doctor responded, I hope you care to be recalled to life? And the old answer: I can t say (Dickens 57). Their construction differs from a normal bicycle as they have suspensioned frame to stand the mountain trails, logging roads , washouts, loose gravel, roots and all other unpaved conditions they are often used in. Other than that they have knobby treaded heavy duty wheels, more powerful brakes and lower gear ratios to withstand steep hills with poor traction. As a result of this development in 1970s many kinds of different mountain bikes appeared on the market as cross country, freeride and downhill MTBs. In 2013 a guy named Edward Snowden released government files that prove that the government has a file for every cell phone in America. Meaning that every text message, photo, phone call, email, etc is being recorded, making it easier for the government to track down anyone that they want. Americans privacy is being violated very similarly to the privacy violations in 1984, a novel written by George Orwell. Edward Snowden worked for the NSA and had many important roles. When Snowden came across these files he felt the need the documents because he believed that these types of decisions should be determined by the public. And just like Edward Snowden I do strongly believe that the government should not have made the decision of recording private information without notifying us, the citizens. • 21. The Monetary Policy Is The Rule Of The Interest Rate And... The monetary policy is controlled by the Central Bank or Federal Reserve, it is the regulation of the interest rate and money supply of a country. The Bank s monetary policy objective is to deliver price stability low inflation and, subject to that, to support the Government s economic objectives including those for growth and employment. Price stability is defined by the Government s inflation target of 2% (Bank of England). One of the most influential econometrics tools to define monetary policy is the Taylor rule. This rule sets the interest rate above or below some neutral level to a degree which depends on (i) the difference between current inflation and target inflation, and (ii) the difference between actual and potential output the output gap (Vickers, 1999, p433). Taylor takes a simplistic approach and bases his rule on the assumption that the interest rate depends on two definitive variables; output gap and inflation. A significant rise in either or the two variables would lead to the central banks responses and attempt to mitigate any economic instabilities. Initially this rule became prominent in literature and widely accepted by both academics and practitioners. However, recent financial events such as the crisis which is said to be proceeded to the stock market crash and large movements in the asset prices in Japan and the United Sates, has lead to increased scrutiny on the impact of volatility in stock prices and its relationship and impact on ... • 22. Biomechanics Of The Tympanic Membrane Darisha Jhutty April 27, 2015 BIOE 154: Introduction to Biomechanics Professor Norman Biomechanics of the Tympanic Membrane Background: Over the past years, bioengineers have applied different methods for modelling the human ear. The human ear is an intricate biomechanical system with its primary function to sound perception and reception. The ear is divided into 3 main components, each with its own unique functions: the outer ear (pinna), the middle ear, and the inner ear. The outer ear, or the pinna, consists of the auricle, the skin covered cartilage of the ear visible on the outside of the head, as well as the opening to the auditory canal. The middle ear refers the air filled hollow space (tympanic cavity) behind the eardrum or tympanic membrane. The tympanic membrane is a thin, cone shaped membrane that separates the outer ear from the middle ear (Figure 1a). The tympanic membrane is made up of two main parts: the fragile pars flaccida (upper region) and robust the pars tersa (lower region). The pars tersa, composed of three layers: skin, fibrous tissue, and mucus, makes up the majority of the tympanic membrane. The pars flaccida is often associated with eustachian tube malfunctions and choleostomas, whereas the pars tersa is associated with perforations. There are 3 bones, the malleus, incus, and stapes, in the middle ear (Figure 1b) that vibrate when exposed to the vibrations of the sound waves. The malleus is attached to the medial surface of the tympanic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The assumption is, that 18 specific changes in the geometry of the vessel (length, diameter, and wall structure/sti ness) resulting from the natural aging process combined with changes they induce in the hemo dynamics, are the primary cause of aneurysm formation. This assumption postulates, that the mentioned coupling induces a segment of the aortic wall to degrade and simultaneously leads to a gradually increase of its diameter. A lot of research has been devoted to the fundmental mechanisms of aging in the arteries. Generally spoken, the aging process leads to an increase in the arterial diameter and a sti ening as well as thickening of the arterial wall. The median layer undergoes the bigger changes thinning out and losing its orderly arrangement of elastin laminas and fibers. The elastin laminas and fibers become fragmented and unorganized leading to decreasing elastic properties and increasing the sti ness [16]. From fluid mechanical viewpoint, the speed of the pulse wave in the artery increases, as sti ness goes up with age. The latter is better known and more thought provoking because of the protagonist s death. To begin with, the journey takes place on a cold winter day in Klondike, consists of a man and his dog. The man is ignorant of the extreme coldness and feels confident about travelling alone at fifty degrees below zero. However, he breaks through a thin skin of ice unexpectedly and wets himself halfway to the knees. In order to dry his feet, the man builds a fire, only to have it extinguished by a pile of snow unloaded from a tree. He tries to set up another fire, yet all attempts has failed. The man panics and strives to unfreeze his body by running. Not surprisingly, his efforts are useless, and the man dies of hypothermia at last. The author effectively supports the central conflict of man versus nature and gives hints about the man s death as resolution by using appropriate title, descriptive setting, and a large amount of foreshadowing. First of all, the title is well chosen, for it gives the readers an overview of the story and supports the plot effectively. Detailed descriptions of how to set up a fire and the man s continuous attempts to do so reflect that the story evolves around the phrase to build a fire . The Arab Israeli conflict began in the late 19th century as a result of the rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism. The two sides have fought over land that both parties regard as their holy land. The Jews looked to reclaim the land promised to them by God after their escape from slavery in Egypt. The Arabs, who already resided on and owned the land, looked to maintain their ownership, which was a site of many historical events in the development of Islam. This struggle between the two religions led to a battle for attaining sovereignty in the Middle East. The tension between the two peoples eventually escalated into the Israeli Palestinian conflict in 1947, which in turn evolved and developed into the broader Arab Israeli conflict. To fully understand the viewpoints of both sides of this conflict and the history that comes with it, it is necessary to know the movements that are at the root of all the tensions. These movements are the Zionist movement, the Arab Nationalist movement and the Palestinian Nationalism movement. Zionism is the national movement of Jews that supports the creation of a Jewish homeland in the Land of Israel. The movement came to the forefront of global issue in the late 19th century. It attempts to provide a conceptual framework upon which international relations can be analyzed. There are several international theories, realism, liberalism, idealism, Marxism and functionalism are only few of the examples. Like political scientist Stephen M. Walt who published a much cited survey of the field in, One World, Many Theories, in 1998. I also believe that there are three dominant approaches: realism, liberalism, and an updated form of idealism called constructivism that can explain the world order today. Walt argued that these theories shape both public discourse and policy analysis. Realism focuses on the shifting distribution of power among states. Liberalism highlights the rising number of democracies and the turbulence of democratic transitions. Idealism illuminates the changing norms of sovereignty, human rights, and international justice, as well as the increased potency of religious ideas in politics. At realism s core is the belief that international affairs are a struggle for power among self interested states. Clear sighted states can mitigate the causes of war by finding ways to reduce the danger they pose to each other. The Chorus calls on him to arrive in one of his many different forms, such as the bull, serpent, or lion, and to capture Pentheus in his fatal net (1018 1022). The Maenads will be the ones to finish the deed, but the sighting of Dionysus will make them go into such a frenzy that Pentheus family, especially his mother, will not even realize who it is that they are ripping to shreds. The initiated Maenads from Asia already know the effect that the sighting would have on the women, so they call on Dionysus to show himself so that the women inflict the appropriate justice on the man who questions Dionysus authority. The overall message or lesson in The Bacchae of Euripides seems to be the importance of revering the gods, and the punishment that could ensue if they are not properly worshipped and respected. • 40. Realism In Art And Art In The 19th Century Realism began in France in the 1840 s. It was the first unconventional, anti institutional art movement. It challenged Neoclassicism and Romanticism by diverting every ones attention to more social issues which were brought by the disturbed and raging 19th century. In simpler words, Realism was, opposed to the Romanticism ways of merely representing nature, an approach to art to position oneself in the real , whether it was scientifically, morally, constitutionally, or even theoretically. When it comes to theoretical beliefs, Realism incorporated the progressive aims of modernism. This was done through pursuing new certainties, by reconsidering and capsizing customary systems of philosophies and morals. The realistic works developed with the introduction of photography. Through it, an invention of representations was created and they looked accurately factual. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Romantic emotionalism as well as classical naivety was banned entirely. From this era onwards, artists felt the freedom to portray real life situations without aesthetics. Realism influenced impressionism and many other contemporary art styles as it imitated a liberal modification in the prominence and purpose of art overall. To this day, the characteristic style still manages to impact visual arts and thus can be viewed as revolutionary. In the words Stokstad, Realism, reflected the positivist belief that art should show unvarnished truth, and realists took up subjects that were generally regarded as not important enough for a serious work of art . It depicted how the realm esteemed working men only for the labor they achieved, rather than their social eccentricity. In short, Realism was a trigger to portray the hardships of pastoral ... • 41. Analysis Of Janice Mirikitani s Suicide Note It s easy to feel worthless. Almost every person feels this deep emotion at some time in life, but people handle it different. Everywhere people are always judging. Judgement from parents, from family, and even from friends is inescapable. People can tear themselves down in many ways, such as through school, not feeling they look good enough, and even just not feeling like they re ever good enough to be living on Earth. In Janice Mirikitani s poem Suicide Note, it talks about an Asian American student currently in college. She tries her hardest, she wants to succeed and make her parents proud. Her parents have high standards for her, as they want her to receive a 4.0 grade point average. Although she gives her best effort, her grade point average is still less than a 4.0, and for that reason her parents are not proud of her, she s not their perfect, ideal daughter. So she enters that point where she no longer feels proud of her accomplishments, she feels worthless, and unintelligent. She decides to commit suicide by jumping out of a window in her college dorm. In her suicide note she apologizes to her parents for not being good enough. Suicide Note is a free form poem, it has no set stanzaic pattern, the sentences break in unexpected places, and the structure varies throughout the poem. It uses imagery to connect with the reader, and the stanzas are set up in way that make the lines to appear as they are falling. Through the use of enjambment, and end stopped line the ... • 42. Charles Darwin Lab Report Charles Darwin, a naturalist born in 1809 England, traveled around the world on the HMS Beagle from 1831 1836 (Desmond). He made observations on land for three out of the five years he traveled around the world; his most significant findings were recorded on the Galápagos Islands. The most crucial evidence of evolution, a theory that Darwin is known for, consist of the different species of Galapagos tortoises and finches that Darwin observed. He noticed that depending on the different islands similar finches had different variations of beak size and shape. To add, he observed that the tortoise s shell shape and neck length varied based on which island they resided on. Darwin made the observation that depending on each island, which had different ... In 1785, when Hutton discovered this, many people had originally thought the Earth did not change and was much younger. This provided Darwin with evidence that if Earth can evolve so can living things. Lastley, Thomas Malthus found that the more a population grows and reproduces the bigger the population comes. This leads to competition of survival, means than there is less food for the whole population. Therefore the organism compete to survive, reproduce, and find food. • 43. The Pros And Cons Of Negligence Law A) The topic concerning this case is negligence law. The issue is whether Simon would be successful perusing a negligence claim. Establishing negligence requires the plaintiff to prove the three elements of negligence before a court. The elements are that, the defendant owed the plaintiff a duty of care, the duty of care was breached, and that the harms suffered were directly related to the defendant s breach. For a successful claims the plaintiff must satisfy all three by the balance of probabilities, which has been the case since Donohue v Stevenson. Simon must therefore prove that there was a duty of care owed to him by the defendant, his teacher, Mr Philpot. Therefore, he must prove that the harm suffered would have been reasonably foreseeable due to the actions or omission of the defendant. In this case, Mr Philpot owes Simon a duty of care, as it is reasonably foreseeable that a failure to provide sufficient supervision could result in injury when considering the nature of the environment they are in and the age of the students. Therefore, the first element is satisfied. The Civil Liabilities Act 2002 defines negligence as a failure on the part of the defendant which results in the harm of the plaintiff which could have been prevented by taking reasonable care. The breach of duty must be foreseeable, Sullivan v Moody. The risk must be not insignificant, and a reasonable person under similar circumstances would have taken precaution against the harm. • 44. Example Of Dichotomy Victor Hanson s article lacks supporting evidence and provides a narrow point of view to a complex situation. When evaluating information and determining if it is logically compelling, the premises must be acceptable, relevant, and sufficient. The article does not meet the required premises because it lacks sufficient support and contains several logical fallacies. The premise of the article is that the United States will continue to decline and potentially cease to exist if they continue to reduce defense spending and increase social spending, which results in more government dependent citizens. The premise is a slippery slope fallacy. A slippery slope logical fallacy occurs when a predicted outcome is based on a specific chain reaction, but there is not enough evidence to support the chain reaction will occur or produce the predicted outcome. The article references four different historical civilizations that failed because their citizens grew dependent on the government and because their government cut defense spending. The historical civilizations mentioned lack similarities to the U.S. government s structure, current international relations, military capability and economic capacity. The increase in government ... All together, it helped the farther east states to keep in contact with the West with all the news of what was happening, important documents, and sometimes small packages and family letters that were being sent from different states. It helped for new and more improved ideas of how could the spreading of news could be spread faster and safer. Travelers went in search for wealth and land and with the California Gold Rush people went to get a better life. But with the rush to go find gold, that left many people in need to know what was going and if their love ones found anything and what documents are being passed because of the California Gold rush. However, Blanchard fails to discuss the importance of negative responses in communication. Negative responses are useful in order to keep workers inline and stopping them from breaking rules. It can be necessary in many situations; however, managers of today still abuse negative responses. There are examples of modern day managers using negative responses and finding success. For example, John Tortorella, the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League has found success from yelling at players and criticizing them, but he actually went on to win the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, winning the Jacks Adam award for attributing the most to his teams success. (Cooper, 2015). He is often seen as a villain in the hockey community, but his success is clearly attributable to his negative responses and negative attitude. This tough relationship he has with his players must improve their play because he has been a coach on and off in the league since 2001. Blanchard s ideologies clearly go against everything John Tortorella stands for, but there is no denying his success. This style of management can be successful in some places, and modern managers have to understand when to apply this style. Clearly Blanchard s methods are successful, but so are ...
