Sketches By Boz – Passage.Charles Dickens’ Language In
Sketches by Boz Passage Charles Dickens language in the passage suggests gloominess the motif
of darkness is present throughout. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene
a sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it
would be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere,
foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The
word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field
of abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the
Government) of essentially neglecting its citizens by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation
euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic
tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a
widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises
the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a
working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they
endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that
they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to
reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could
be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often
classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor.
But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly
satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a
disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay
in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time
and were not yet considered

Illusion Vs Reality
This illusory extends to Willy s sons Biff and Happy Lowman. Willy also creates the illusion that
his sons were successful and perceived as great men. When asked why his sons were not lending
him a hand, he exclaims, They are working on a big deal. However, the reality was that his sons
were unsuccessful. For instance, Biff fails to get a loan. This delusion largely rubbed off on both
of his sons, but it had more impact on Happy. Happy begins to believe that he was a top and
major functionary in the company. However, the reality was that Happy was the assistant to
somebody else s assistant. Even Biff points out to him asking him, You re one of the two assistants
to the assistant, aren t you? (Miller, 2001). In addition, Happy places a great... Show more content

He considers that Biff s success would cover up his own failures and inability to succeed.
However, in the end, Biff realizes his folly and becomes mindful of the reality of their lack of
success and that their notion of the misplaced American dream is wrong. He even points this out to
his father. The theme of illusion versus reality is also apparent in Willy s marriage. Without doubt,
it is portrayed in the play that Willy is unfaithful to his wife, and even Biff ends up stumbling on
him while cheating. However, Willy maintains the appearance that he is constantly being honest
and faithful in his marriage. His wife, Linda does not know the reality of their marriage. In the
culmination of the play, they realize the facts over the make believe illusion under which the family
was living and accept the truth. The Lowman family finally accepts that they are not successful,
nor of great importance to the companies as they deem themselves to be. However, Willy refuses
to accept this reality and completely reluctant to give up his dream, which in the end destroys him
(Miller, 2001).
The lack of discernment between reality and illusion has a significant impact on the Lowman
family. They end up deceiving not only others but also, most unfortunately, deceiving themselves.
These illusions take control of their lives, and it is only at the end, that they finally see the reality
of their circumstances. However, Willy

Encryption in Today s Information Systems
In today s world of instant connectivity and information at users fingertips, it s vital that sensitive
information is safeguarded against those who seek to do personal harm and profit from gaining
access to the data. The key behind keeping information safe is the method in which it s protected
and encrypted. In order to appreciate how information is secured, users must understand the
encryption concepts behind it. To do this, one must comprehend the current encryption standards,
the trends and developments in encryption technology, the importance of securing data, the
government s regulations pertaining to encryption, the companies involved in research and
implementation, the implications of leaked or stolen data, and a brief look into... Show more content

When a fellow general received the message, he would wrap the paper around his corresponding
scytale to decipher the message (Tyson 2014). Since the advent of computers though, encryption
has become increasing important and relies almost solely on cryptographic means to secure
information. When speaking about encryption today, it refers more to the process rather than the
mathematical formulas used to scramble data. The basic idea behind encrypting a computer
message is such that it is scrambled with a sequence of random bits, known as a key, and only
parties with the corresponding key can transpose it back into a comprehensible format. These keys
are created via a cipher, otherwise known as an algorithm. When a user sends a message, known as
the plaintext, across a network, the computer applies an algorithm to the information to encode it,
resulting in a ciphertext (Encryption Basics 2014). This method can be best summarized visually:
Plaintext message + encryption algorithm + secret key = Ciphertext Ciphertext + corresponding
key + decryption algorithm = Plaintext message Generally speaking, modern encryption techniques
fall into one of two categories symmetric (homogeneous) and asymmetric (heterogeneous).
Symmetric encryption is a system of communication whereby both parties share the same key to
encode and decode a message. The Spartan generals used this method with their scytales.

The Role Of Community On The Health Status Of The Population
The roles of community in advancing the health status of the population are varied. While
community participation is essential to advancing population health, evidence to support whether
community participation directly advances the health status of the population is limited.1,2 It is
limited because the role of community is constantly re formulated to fit the needs of the population
it serves.1,2 According to McLeroy et al, community can be defined in four ways: community as
setting, community as target, community as agent, and community as resource. Due to the
numerous ways community can be defined, generalizing the role of community and how it impacts
healthis difficult.
While generalizing can be difficult, providing strong evidence to support the roles of communities
influencing positive health outcomes is more so. This literature review will attempt to address the
following questions as they relate to communities advancing health:
1.What is the evidence of the roles communities play in community health status improvement?
2.What types of change have been reported? Service delivery? Prevention? Infrastructure changes
physical activity resources? School based programs? Nutrition?
3.How do community organizations get involved in health improvement interventions?
4.What is the role of leadership in community level health services improvement?
5.What is the role of community healthcare systems in population health improvement initiatives?

Abstract
Many Schiff bases, including two novel compounds, were prepared to inhibit the corrosion
reactions of mild steel in acidic medium. Their chemical structures were determined using IR, Mass
spectrometry and 1HNMR spectroscopic analysis. The results showed that the protection of mild
steel, by these Schiff bases, depends on many factors like function group, inhibitor dose and the
temperature of the medium. Thermodynamic adsorption parameters (Kads, О”Gads) of studied
inhibitors were calculated using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The presence of iodide ions in
the medium increased the efficiency of these inhibitors. AC impedance spectroscopy was used to
determine the polarization resistance. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed the
corrosion products decreased after using these inhibitors. In addition, the best inhibitor in this study
used to increase corrosion inhibition of treated sample by Electrolytic plasma process (EPP).

How Does Walter Lee Use Social Class In To Kill A Mockingbird
Jem and Scout decide to invite Walter over to their home. Despite Scout s curiosity about Walter
and his strange habit of drown[ing] his dinner in syrup, Walter s visit to the Finch household is
successful. The children certainly enjoy his company, as does Atticus, who talk[s] to him like a
grown man about farm problems. After hearing that a Cunningham was rarin[g] for an outright
acquittal for Tom Robinson, Scout s friendship with Walter is further cemented. Unfortunately, Aunt
Alexandra forbids Walter from visiting their home. He is trash, and she will not have Scout picking
up his habits and learning Lord knows what.
Aunt Alexandra s displays her values when she refuses to let Scout play with Walter. To her, social
class and family is crucial. The Cunninghams are not [the Finches ] kind of folks. They are
considered yappy and tacky ; not because of their moral beliefs, but because they are poor, low
class farmers. Aunt Alexandra deems Walter s social class more important than Walter himself....

They take care of their appearance; Walter wears a clean shirt and neatly mended overalls on the

Walter. The Cunningham s may have similar values to the Finches , but their social status in
Maycomb is more important. Aunt Alexandra likens coming from a low class to being

How Does Shakespeare Present Humanism In The Tempest
Humanism is a belief that human needs and values are more significant than religious beliefs, or
the needs and desires of humans. In the play, The Tempest by William Shakespeare is one of the
most intellectual and ideological of all Shakespeare s works, reflecting Renaissance ideals, and
extremely amenable to discussion and explanation. Among the last works of a mature and practical
playwright, it is one of Shakespeare s most significant commentaries upon the conduct of real
human beings and practical government in a modern state. The Tempest displays elements of
humanismthrough many of its lead characters. Also, in sonnet 18 by Shakespeare portrays
humanism by the love for people. In the fifteenth century the idea of humanism stemmed first...

Throughout the play there are several scenes that represent humanism. For instance, when Prospero
had his dukedom usurped by his brother and the King of Naples, and Prospero was later exiled
(Shakespeare, 502 503). Prospero feels cheated and abandoned, and started to hate Antonio and
Alonso. Prospero s feeling of hatred begins to drive him to plot vengeance to make justice balanced.
When the moment arrives to initiate his plan, much of the actions Prospero took seem hostile.
Conjuring a storm and causing contention and confusion among the noblemen certainly is not
friendly. Prospero wants to recreate the scenes of his forced exile by the noblemen so that the
nobleman can see the pain that Prospero went through. As humans, the feeling of love and hatred
usually precedes motivation. That feeling of motivation will often dictate whether or not an event
will be hostile. Sometimes when an event occurs, it is possible that the feeling may change, which
will bring a different perspective and thus a different motivation to act. Prospero does embody the
humanism movement. In this quote The Tempest as a humanist play implies through Prospero s
abjuration of magic, his return to Milan, and the restoration of a civil order that the ultimate end of
these acts in which man governs his life depends upon a human being, not the upheaval of magic
(Stanivukovic). Prospero freeing the noblemen from his

Drinking Diet Soda Is Healthier For You Than Drinking...
Next, many consumers believe that drinking diet soda is healthier for you than drinking regular
soda filled with sugar but studies are starting to show that artificial sweeteners may actually lead
to diabetes. Mary Ann Yantis, PhD, RN, a nurse educator for Nursing Education Consultants and
Kate Hunter, RD, LD (2010), a clinical dietitian at Adventist Medical Center reports (2010) that
drinking more than one serving of diet soda per day can increase your risk of metabolic
syndrome by more than 36%. Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors, which includes
hypertension, abdominal obesity, hyperglycemia and hypertriglyceridemia. These risk factors
increase a person s risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and stroke. This same study also
reports (2010) that one diet soda per day can increase a person s risk of developing type 2 diabetes
by more the 67%. This is possibly due to the fact that artificial sweeteners can be up to 13,000 times
sweeter than sugarand this intense sweetness can be addictive thus creating cravings for more
sweetness in order to feel satisfied. Yantis and Hunter (2010) point out that the sweet taste triggers
the same dopamine signals that are also triggered by drugs such as cocaine and heroin. Craving for
more intense artificial sweetness will result in consuming more calories, increase the likelihood of
developing insulinresistance, and more than likely affect the glucose metabolism (Yantis Hunter,
2010). Another study done

Investigating the Sources of Finance Essay
Investigating the Sources of Finance
I m now going to investigate the sources of finance available to you when setting up your new
business. I will separate the sources of finance needed into three categories; start up costs, running
costs and expansion costs.
When starting up your new business premises will need to be secured from which you will
trade. I m going to look at ways that you could secure premises. The first option available to you
is a mortgage; these are long term loans offered by banks or building societies based on property
as collateral. Interest must be paid on the mortgage, but this will cover the original sum and when
the money has been paid back, you become the owner of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

to purchase this machinery and equipment you will need to use medium term sources of finance.
These could be; a bank loan, this is a quick and easy source of finance, but this would mean paying
interest. Also the bank may require collateral, and the machinery and equipment may be
repossessed if loan repayments aren t met. Another source of medium term finance available to
you is leasing. This means that a firm could lease you the machinery and equipment that you will
need. However, although less initial finance is needed to obtain the assets, over time this works
out more expensive than buying. Hire purchase is similar to leasing except the firm will eventually
own the assets. The assets are paid for in instalments, whilst the business is using them, this
however can bring with it major cash flow problems, because interest payments can be very high.
My recommendation when attempting to secure a source of finance for machinery and equipment
would be to get a bank loan. I recommend this because; the machinery and equipment is instantly
accessible to the business allowing it to operate, also the interest payments aren t as high as hire
purchase, and with a bank loan the assets become the property of the business once all repayments
are met.
Fixtures and Fittings are also essential when operating from the

The Effect Of Low Phonics On The Existing English...
Abstract:
My research English project is about studying the importance and effects of adding Phonics to the
existing English curriculum at the early grades of elementary 4th to 6th grades in Saudi Arabia.
Phonics is an important in the whole English learning process, especially at the early ages and
elementary school years. Phonics depends on sound of words and how to spell them correctly and
accurately.
Currently, there is no structured phonics learning implemented at our elementary schools for
English learning. If the phonics is implemented, it will enhance the spelling of words and
pronunciations. By applying more methods and tools to teach phonics as educational videos, clips
and educational software available in the market. Reading English for those kids will be easier and
will be better in reading comprehension.
Introduction:
Phonics is all about teaching children the sounds in English words. When you can identify sounds
in words and sentences, you are well on your way to becoming literate. Well, with phonics, your
child will have the confidence to identify the vowels, consonants and syllables and can at least
attempt to read the word. Phonics basically teaches your child how to sound out words in the
English language.
Phonics is a method for teaching reading and writing by developing learners phonemic awareness.
Phonics is absolutely essential for helping children begin to read. Once the code of reading has
been cracked through phonics, children will then have

Mcmurphy Character Analysis
In the novel, One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest, written by Ken Kesey, it shadows the vast

transported to the ward til the timeof his tragic death. Mcmurphy changed more than their liveliness,
he changed the mindset of their strongest critic, their self proclaimed image of themselves. As the
book comes to a close, Randle Mcmurphywhose image was only to cause havoc and be psychotic

In both story, the main character is come from different group which hate each other. In Romeo

Puerto Rican (Sharks), which each group is a rival. The main men characters have the same
character that is extreme emotion. It show when Romeo sneaked into Capulet territory to meet
Juliet, and when he killed Tybalt in duel, also when he committed suicide upon erroneously
believing Juliet is dead. With Tony we can see when he killed Bernardo after heated argument
and when he challenge Chino to kill him because he was killed his love. But they have same
character that has the courage to live with his love although their family was forbid them. The
differences I saw in the main women character. Juliet is different with Maria, although their
purity and their faith to their love are same. Maria is look more exited and enthusiastic about her
life, from the way she talks and act. Juliet is made up to be a weak character because she is wont

Alternative Dispute Resolution Processes
Contrary to that, some observers have argued that it is not at all clear that informal processes
like ADR may be a disadvantage to minority groups any more than formal processes like
settlement . Formality may influence people to be on the right side of the law and play by the
book, it risks imposing its own obstacles to justice . The concept of justice is essential to ADR
processes. In the framework of ADR, the concept of justice involves the consent of the parties to
play an active role in the resolution of their disputes; to assert some degree of control over the
aftermath of their disputes and to arrive at a satisfactory, if not excellent settlements of their
disputes, with regards to their interest. 3.3 Principles and Mechanisms of ADR 3.3.1 General
Principle Currently there is no particular ADR philosophy that can acknowledge that one
specific approach can best suit the true spirit of ADR . Nevertheless, by taking a look at the
main aim of ADR, one can establish whether there is one philosophy to ADR and to what extent
does it go to. Some of the main aims of ADR are; the principle of solving a problem collectively,
enabling of parties, avoiding delays and costs related to traditional litigation, conservation or
improvement of personal relationships; mainly business related and simplifying procedures. The
principle of solving a problem collectively is considered to be one of the main objectives of ADR

During George Wallace s Stand in the Schoolhouse Door protest, Forrest stands curiously in the
background, more interested in his surroundings rather than the actual protest. During the

Vietnam War can be summed up into one conversation between him and the Drill Sergeant:

My Time In High School
Throughout my time growing up I have had a lot of people tell me that high school will be the
time of your life. In many ways it is. High school for me would be described as fun, thrilling,
exciting, hard working, and some very exhausting years of my life. My years at Millry High
School have not been too long compared to others, however my memories are of great lengths.
During my time as a high schoolstudent, I have tried to become a fairly active student. Participating
in Bible club, drama club, yearbook, running for student council, homecoming court, being
nominated best personality, and Distinguished Young Women.
My time in high school have been some of the greatest times I have had thus far, with as little
bumps in the road as possible. Now don t get me wrong, I had a lot to learn during my time as a
high school student. During these years I have learned how to be myself, to work my tail off,
and that nothing is going to be handed to you. One of my biggest regrets I encountered during
my time as a high school student was not trying my hardest. I never really had to try much in
elementary and middle school. It just sort of came to me. When I entered high school, I thought
it would be the same. I was very wrong. I ended up going to summer school the summer of my
ninth grade year for my grades. I found it so embarrassing when everyone would ask if I could
hang out and I would have to say ВЁI can t I have summer schoolВЁ. Definitely not one of my
proudest moments there.

environment that was once similar to earth s. One of the major craters that they were looking at
which supported this idea was called the Gale Crater. This specific crater is known to have rocks
that were around 4.2 billion years old, and said to be from a running water lake. This idea has
just been developed from a long lasting idea that Mars did have some water but its quality was
like battery acid. Many times before, NASA has sent rovers to Mars to search for life. They have
not only sent Curiosity but also Spirit and Opportunity. The one that found all of this information,
Curiosity, had the job of sampling rocks by drilling holes in them. This rover took off from earth in
the summer of 2012 and gathered the major information in October

Albert Einstein And Mahatma Gandhi
The twentieth century was a time of new perspectives and challenging authority. Many individuals
began experimenting and innovating in an attempt to change the status quo. Two famous
individuals of the time period were the physicist Albert Einstein and the activist Mahatma Gandhi.
At first glance, the highly logical scientist Albert Einsteinand the spiritual, political activist
Mahatma Gandhi do not appear to have a great deal in common, but a deeper study of their
personal lives and accomplishments reveal the two are far more similar than they are different.
Einstein and Gandhi were both creative individuals who revolutionized their respective
domains, display the influence of childhood and the child like mind, and could charm the
masses despite difficulties in maintaining close relationships. Einstein was a master and
innovator of physics and Gandhi was likewise for the moral and political domains. Reading
copious amounts of books and absorbing knowledge were characteristic of both early on in their
lives. Einstein s favored authors of James C Maxwell and Aaron Bernstein would center his
fascination in the world of physics. Gandhi was well versed in all the works of the major
religions and gained influence from writers such as Leo Tolstoy and Henry Thoreau. Their
innovations were not wholly original, as many aspects of relativity can be found in the works of
Lorentz and PoincarГ© and many parts of satyagrahacan be found in the teachings of Christ and

Experiment At A Small Midwestern University
Method Participants The participants were 21 (19 female and two male) undergraduate students
enrolled in a general psychology laboratory class at a small Midwestern university. The
participants were selected by convenience sampling, and they received a grade for participating
in and completing the experiment. Each participant completed the experiment, and the
participants were separated into two groups. The first group consisted of 10 participants that
listened to music first, whereas the second group consisted of 11 participants that conversed
with the passenger first. The experimental session lasted approximately 1 hr and 30 min.
Materials Prior to the experiment, a paper survey was given to each participant. The questions
asked were number of years of driving experience, number of days since last drove, number of
hours slept the previous night, and number of cups of coffee drank. The participants were also
asked their self rated attention on a 10 point scale, if they had any conditions that could impair
driving, and if they were taking any medications that could impair driving. The experiment took
place in one of the psychology department rooms, where a table and two chairs were set up. On
the table, there was a green and brown reaction time box that provided three spaces for light.

Transformers: re contextualizing our material culture, the exhibition is curated by China Marx.
The artists shown in the exhibit are: Garry Noland, Gerry Trilling, and Julie Peppito. I have
never truly analyzed art before, and a textile museum was the last place I pictured myself at
Florida Tech. As soon as I walked in I felt like I was in a whole different world. There were
beautiful pieces of handmade jewelry, and scarves for sale all over the walls and shelves. The
walls were pure white, and looked very modern. Banners hung from the second floor ceiling
down to the ground behind the desk. The banners read Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts. I knew
this exhibition was going to be beautiful as soon as I walked in, and I was right. The exhibition
beautifully showed how one can view different aspects of life and demonstrated the necessity of
reusing waste and finding beauty and detail in everything around us. The first piece that jumped
out at me was by Garry Noland, it was sitting on the ground and looked like three beautiful shiny
rocks that were dipped in gold paint. Upon greater observation I realized that they weren t rocks
at all, they were pieces of dirty used Styrofoam with brand new shiny gold duct tape on top. The
piece had three main parts. The smallest piece, which was pale orange and had

What Is The Accuracy Of A Lie Detector
Accuracy of lie Detectors
Without knowing what lie detectors are and how they work, it is very difficult to understand them
completely. First off, lie detectors are actually called polygraph tests and they use several
psychological indicators to determine if someone is lying or not when they are answering a series
of questions. Blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, perspiration rate, and the conductivity of
their skin are all factors the polygraph test uses as indicators. The test measures blood pressure and
heart rate by a blood pressure cuff attached to some kind of digital equipment. The respiratory rate
is recorded using two pneumographs connected to the digital equipment, which are just basically
rubber tubes filled with air. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of these cases include the interrogations of Ryan Brunn. In the case where Ryan
Brunn was questioned, he lied and failed. He denied lying and was then administered another
test, where he confessed that he had killed 7 year old Jorelys Rivera. He realized that the he
could not pass the test unless he confessed, which he did. He confessed to raping the girl, cutting
her throat, wrapping her in a garbage bag, and dumping her body into a trash compactor. Another
example of a case that has been solved by the polygraph test is the murders of Skyla Whitaker
and Taylor Paschal Placker. These two women were murdered by Kevin Sweat, who had agreed
to take a polygraph test because he thought he could outsmart the test. During his interrogation,
police discovered that he had burned the bodies on his father s land. When the police went to
investigate, they found the burned remains of his fiancee and .40 caliber shell casings. On the
contrary, there are also many cases that have used the lie detector test in which they were not
accurate. A case where the polygraph test has been proven wrong would include the interrogation
of Gary Leon Ridgway. In 1984 he was accused of murdering 48 women and he passed the
polygraph test. Later, after DNA confirmed his criminal activities Gary confessed to murdering
almost twice the number of women and girls he was initially accused of killing. If the court would

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Stochastic Model
3.1 Deterministic models There are two types of model that we are going to look at, firstly the
deterministic model and then the stochastic model. [23]A deterministic model is used in a situation
where the result can be established straightforwardly from a series of conditions. It has no
stochastic elements and both the input and the outputs are determined conclusively. On the other
hand a stochastic model is one where the cause and effect relationship is stochastically or randomly
determined. Therefore the system having stochastic element is generally not solved analytically
and hence there are several cases for which it is difficult to build an intuitive perspective. When
simulating a stochastic model a random number is usually generated... Show more content on

Executive Summary
This policy brief puts forward the point of view of the Broadband application provider regarding
the open internet rules proposed by the FCC. The broadband application providers support the open
internet rules, which states that the internet should be transparent and the access to it should be
blocking and free from unreasonable discrimination. This rules will allow broadband application
providers to provide their content to all the users without unnecessary blocking by the ISPs. This
policy brief first describes the FCC s idea of the open internet. Secondly, it describes the problems

On the open internet, people can communicate freely with others, transmit and receive information
of their choice, and develop and use applications of their own choice. This is sometimes, also
referred to as Net Neutrality or Network Neutrality .
b) FCC s idea of open internet.
On December 21, 2010, FCC adopted some rules to preserve the openness of the internet [4].
This Open Internet Order of 2010 divides internet access into two classes i.e., fixed line
providers and wireless providers. The order is more aggressive towards fixed line broadband
providers as compared to wireless providers. The rules were formulated to prevent ISP s from
carrying out unlawful practices in blocking the access to the content.
This FCC s idea of open internet follows three specific rules
1. Transparency:
FCC suggests that fixed and mobile broadband providers should publicly disclose accurate
information about the network management practices, performance characteristics, and terms and
conditions of their broadband services. The disclosure should contain all the information necessary
for the consumers to make suitable choices for buying content, service and application [5].
However, the service provider does not need to disclose any security information or competitively
sensitive information [5].
2. Blocking:
FCC suggests that fixed broadband providers should not block consumer from accessing any lawful
content, services, applications or non harmful devices. It also suggests

Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book
that is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the
whole novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he
disregarded the laws of femalereproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that
Victor defiled the feminine naturewhen he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor
argued in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the
necessity to have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are
created in a laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479).
In Bate s essay, Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the
balance between female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke
nature and undermined the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than
the discussion of Bate because she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein
dishonored the role of female nature. In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the
development of the plot. Nature is considered a female part because Mother Nature is the
collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and nurturing, as females are to their
offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor

A decrease in world GDP occurred in many countries, specifically in developing countries.
Imports have also declined significantly in importing countries. This was obvious in countries
such as China, Taiwan, Mexico, Egypt and Russia. it was stated that GDP fell to 3.8% in the
U.S. The impact of recession on employment may not be felt for some time. Investigation in
Britain shows that low skilled, low educated workers and the immature are in a weak position to
unemployment in a downturn. It took Britain five years for unemployment to go back to its
initial levels. From 2000 to 2003, the Federal Reserve lowered their target rates. They then
raised the funds rate significantly between July 2004 and July 2006. This added to an increase
in number of years to the adjustable rate mortgage rates and made it more expensive for
homeowners. As a result, this may have also contributed to the deflating of the housing bubble.
Gross Domestic Product declined at an in the last two years in the United States. When GDP
collapses, economic growth will also plunge. This is as a result of fewer goods being
manufactured and therefore the rate of exports will reduce. It is said that when exports decrease, it
will not have sufficient funds to accommodate any growth in the economy what so ever. As a
result in the decline in GDP, employment rate will sooner or later begin to drop. As a result of the
credit crunch, consumers have less purchasing power therefore

The baccalaureate student learns to apply nursing theory. Baccalaureate nurses have been shown
to provide better patient care. (Aiken, Clarke, Sloane, Lake and Cheney, 2008) (deback, 1986)
noted that more educated nurses act independently, take responsibilities for judgment and take
on advocacy roles. Less educated nurses are so content driven, that they cannot guide their
nursing care beyond what is text book or has been taught in school. The following is an example
of the above: Mr. Doe has just been admitted to your floor for the third time in two months. He is
a brittle diabetic and each admission he comes in with ketoacidosis. An ADN would treat them
per protocol and doctor s orders. In three days he is discharged with hopes he won t be back
again within a week. Take the BSN and give them the same patient/scenario. He/she would treat
the ketoacidosis just like the ADN. The baccalaureate nurse is able to go even further. They would
be able to see that this man has had 3 admissions in 2 months and realize there is a problem and
would look for a solution to correct the problem with the end result, decreasing so many admissions
to the hospital (for the same problem.) iom. (2003). Mentions different functions that a
baccalaureate nurse is prepared to do. These functions all tie in with the nursing metaparadigm of
person, environment, health and nursing practice. A baccalaureate nurse, for instance, is taught to

Module 6 DQ2: When viewing a team as a closed loop system, each member becomes dependent
on the next. How does this dependency influence the dynamics of a team, specifically from a
systems perspective?
One of the disadvantages of working within a closed loop system is that when a part of the system
is not performing, it affects the dynamics of the entire teams. For instance, a thermostat works with
a furnace to control room temperature is a perfect example of a closed loop system (Stead, Gregg,

Industrial Revolution Vs Second Industrialization
First, the Industrial Revolution effectively expanded the United States. Without the Industrial
Revolution, railroads would not have come to exist to the extent that they did. Industrialization
allowed the production of huge quantities of rails and of rolling stock to go on those rails. When
railroads spread out across the US, eventually reaching the Pacific, the country s size effectively
increased. Goods from one part of the country could easily be brought to other parts of the country.
This was such an important step in creating a wonderful country.
Second, the Industrial Revolution made cities larger and more important. Before industrialization,
cities had been important as transportation hubs, but had not been major economic engines. During
the Industrial Revolution, cities grew as factories grew faster and attracted workers. The cities also

Industrial Revolution. New scientific knowledge was applied to industry as scientists and engineers
unlocked the secrets of physics and chemistry. Great new industries were founded on this scientific
advance: steel, chemicals, and petroleum benefited from new understandings of chemistry;
breakthroughs in the study of electricity and magnetism provided the basis for a large electrical
industry. These new industries were larger and more productive than any industries existing before.
Germany and the United States became the leaders, and by the end of the 19th century they were
challenging Great Britain in the world market for industrial

The History of Charleston Southern University
Cassidy Malchow
Critical Thinking and Writing in Criminal Justice
December 13, 2016 Abstract
This paper explores the history of Charleston Southern University located in the heart of the
Lowcountry in Charleston, South Carolina. With its core Christian values, Charleston Southern
achieves an atmosphere that most universities cannot. The history of this school can be pinpointed
back to 1964 when it was initially founded (University History and Milestones, 2015). The early
years were fairly rough, with low enrollment rates and very few majors being offered (Joslin,
Merkling, Strubel, 2014). However, the university went through countless changes that drove it to
be the successful school that it is today. Now, Charleston Southern University is an academically
excellent school and also a member of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. This school
started as merely an idea and expanded into a thriving university full of thousands of students. ...

Juvenile Crime Law Is A Subcategory Of Juvenile Law
Juvenile Crime Law is a subcategory of Juvenile Law. Although a type of criminal law, juvenile
crime law only deals with under age individuals, who are treated very differently than adults in
criminal law, and usually have their own courts of law (Juvenile Criminal Law, n.d.). When it
comes to crime, kids usually go through a different process than adults. But they still have to face
consequences ( Juvenile Crimes Juvenile Justice Nolo.com, n.d.).
Juvenile Criminal Law is a relevant issue in today s juvenile criminal Justice system. A growing
number of states are re examining and amending juvenile laws to reduce unnecessary reliance on
secure confinement. Minors under the age of 18 years, who commit a crime, or otherwise violate
established rules and statutes, are identified as juvenile delinquents, juvenile offenders, youthful
offenders, or delinquent minors. When the police arrest a minor, or juvenile, there are differences
from arresting an adult. While the juvenile may be handcuffed, fingerprinted and photographed as
adults can, teen offenders must be handled carefully ( Arresting Kids Lawyers.com, n.d.). In
juvenile cases, a status offense involves conduct that would not be a crime if it was committed by
an adult in other words, the actions are considered to be a violation of the law only because of the
youth s status as a minor (typically anyone under 18 years of age). Some examples of status
offenses include underage drinking, skipping school, and

Compromise Essay
Compromise Essay
Prior to the 1820 s, the people of the United States had been struggling to find a way to solve
their sectional tensions brought on by slavery in the south. The south had always had an
economy based on agriculture that could not strive without their uses of slavery. They did not
plan on ending slavery anytime soon, especially since it was really all they had to support
themselves. They were against establishing an industrial based economy like the north had began
to do in the 1820 1830 s. The real cause of the sectional tensions between the North and the South
during the 1820 s 1860 s was not slavery itself, but how it affected each society so differently, and
it was very challenging to find a compromise to suit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Court also ruled that Congress lacked power to ban slavery in the U.S. territories. And lastly,
the Court declared that the rights of slave owners were constitutionally protected by the Fifth
Amendment because slaves were bought by owners, labeling them as property. In the North,
antislavery supporters were outraged by the outcome of the Dred Scott case, strengthening the
newly submitted Republican Party and helping ignite the violence between slave owners and
abolitionists on the frontier. The Missouri Compromise was declared unconstitutional under the
laws made in the Dred Scott v. Stanford Supreme Court Case in 1857. The case gave Northerners a
reason to fear Southern slave power. It left the nation indecisive on the actions it should take to
replenish the nation of what it needs to settle the sectional tensions in which were causing our
country to fall apart.
With the increased sectional tensions left untouched after the Missouri Compromise, California
wants in as a free state. Again, Henry Clay suggests an idea to keep from the occurrence of another
uprising like the one after the Missouri Compromise. The Compromise of 1850 had something to
offer for the North and the South. The Compromise would allow California to become a free state,
as a benefit for the North. It would also ban the selling of slaves in Washington D.C., another
benefit to the North. To make the south happy, it strengthened

College Cost Analysis
Do you know how much college costs? In the academic year 2005 2006 to go to a 4 year public
school it was 5,492 per year. Now in the academic year 2015 2016 the cost has risen to 9,410 per
year (Dickler). The price has nearly doubled. College never used to cost that much but then it
started to become more popular and the costof it has started to go up. This trend is going to
continue. The cost of collegeis rising and it is becoming more popular.
As the cost of college continues to rise it was not always like that. In the 1870s the cost of
college was $150. Today that equals $2,685.64 (Writers). College started to become more popular
when people were able to make more money per hour if you attended college. The first college
opened in 1636 that was Harvard University. The acceptance rate was 6% (Niche). Many students
were not able to get into college. More colleges began to open and so more students were accepted.
Then, everyone started to go to college so people felt expected to go. In 2008, tuition fees increased
439% since 1982, while income has only gone up 147% (Writers). People are then not able to
afford it since income is not increasing as fast as college. In an article written by Jessica Dickler
it is reported that 57% of graduates said that they regret taking out as many loans as they did, and
36% said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article written by Danielle Gabriel she says Net prices continue to grow because sticker
price increases have surpassed the grant aid that students receive. This does compare to the
survey results because a majority of the students surveyed said that the cost of the college will
rise. While researching it was found that a majority of high school graduates were going to
college. That was the same result in the survey. The outcome of the survey and the research were
very similar. These results support that the cost of college is rising and it is becoming more

Heritable Race Based Slavery And Indentured Servitude Essay
1.Heritable Race Based Slavery Indentured Servitude:
a.Heritable Race Based Slavery:
Heritable Race Based Slavery was essentially similar to indentured servitude because indentured
servitude led to heritable race based slavery in certain ways. Without indentured servitude, they
would have never gotten to the need to use heritable race based slavery. Which is following in the
condition of the mother. The children of a slave mother are born into slavery. They are born into
slavery and they are going to be a slave because their mother is. It used to be following in the
condition of the father, but what father is a slave? It was rare, especially if you have a mulatto
child. The father would be white. So, to avoid having all these free black children, who should be
slaves ( Follow The Money ) they used the condition of the mother. The mother is always a slave,
so therefore, they make money and get more slaves out of the deal. You have a generation to
generation guaranteed slave, what more could you want?
b.Indentured Slavery:
Indentured Servitude is where you can say it all started. Indentured Servitude was used for 4 7
years to pay off a debt. It could be extended, but there was always a promise that it would end
(you would gain freedom) and that you would get land when it was over and settled with.
Indentured Servitude also had blacks and whites together. They were not separated like they were
with slavery, which was strictly blacks. Indentured Servitude was not passed

Informative Speech About Jeepneys
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about Philippine Jeepneys
Central Idea: To inform my audience about Jeepneys in the Philippines with regards to its history,
importance in transportation and role in Filipino identity
Introduction
Recently, my friend heard about this Filipino restaurant called Jeepney in the East Village.
She invited me to eat there with her.
However, I am here not to promote the Jeepney Restaurant but, rather, to discuss jeepneys as a
primary mode of transportation in the Philippines. (*)
Growing up in the Philippines, I am very familiar with the jeepneys, and in addition to that, I also
read various articles online.

According to Mega Manila Public Transport Study, on page 7, on Department of Transportation and
Communications in the Philippines, as of 2006, there are 48,366 jeepneys in Metro Manila, while
there are only 2,944 busses.
In other words, there is over 16 times more jeepneys than busses in Metro Manila.
(However, jeepneys are not found only in the capital.)
Jeepneys are common transportation in suburban areas too.
For instance, in Tarlac, the province where I grew up, I use jeepneys for my daily activities.
I used in a jeepney countless times to go to school, mall, church or any other local destination,
because it is cheaper than having my dad drive me.
I remember seeing jeepneys after jeepneys throughout the day, so I never had to worry about
missing my ride on my way to school.
(Whether I am in the capital city or suburban location, jeepneys are used for similar travels.)
It is primarily used for local and short travel.
For example, jeepneys are used to travel distance like from Baruch Campus to Central Park.
Because it is open window and ventilated in a tropical country, jeepneys are not ideally used to

Analysis Of The Film Ratatouille
Another part of the film that is also very Disney and very Pixar is the visual feast that the eyes
enjoy while watching. Robertson says, Pixar has created something unique. The light. The colors.
The textures. Ratatouille is not a film with brightly colored toys, fish, bugs, or cars , which
would allow it to perhaps be the most Disney of the films on which Disney and Pixar have created
together (Robertson, 20). Yet, even without those interesting aspects, Ratatouille is very visually
appealing, like a dish one eats first with one s eyes. Robertson quotes Michael Fong the
supervising technical director at Pixar who says, We tried to make this filmlook different...One of
the big things was to break away from what standard CG [computer graphics] looks like. We got
rid of straight lines and did a lot of hand tweaking. We wanted it to feel handmade. The other part is
lighting and shading (Robertson, 21). From that special attention, like a chef gives his signature
dish, the team that collaborated to make Ratatouille created a delicious result. The parallelism
between the making of the film and the making of a wonderful dish is not all the elements that
make Ratatouille such a brilliant film. The fact that it was inspired by the food craze that was very
big around 2007 when the film was made, did not hurt. One could not turn on the television without
seeing some chef creating something wonderful and in doing so, showing viewers that they could
cook too. The interest that the

The Major Economic Problems That Have Plagued Latin America
1.What are the major economic problems that have plagued Latin America in the 20th century?
During the 20th century Latin America went through a change after the U.S made the clam to
directly defend Latin America. This caused a sudden trade switch from the Europe nation to the
U.S. With this trade switch we start to see a big gap between the lower and upper class. With
this gap the poor gets poorer and the rich become Carlos Slim. Carlos Slim was the world s
richest person form 2010 2013 and is a perfect example of how the upper class becomes
billionaires. The wealth Disparity can also be seen in areas like Sao Paulo, Brazil with their
slums. With this wage gap, crime started to flourish in Latin amerce along with corruption.
Some of the best examples of crime and corruption are the Colombian drug cartels with their
widespread murder and bribery tactics. Politic violence also affected Latin America like
revolutions and other up raising the government would shift and political power would change
every few years. The common assassination of politic enemies for cartels often changed the Latin
America diplomatic landscape. 2.How did Peru and Nicaragua differ in terms of Indian
acceptance of leftism in the 1970s and 1980s? Why? In the 1980 s Peru was a hotbed of leftist
activity due to the fact of Peru majority was contested of Indians who lived in poverty. Some of the

Immanuel Kant Analysis
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Age of Enlightenment dominated European life. This
movement emphasized the use of human reason to revolutionize the political, religious, and
philosophical ways of European life. Furthermore, various philosophers and writers during this era
led this movement, including Immanuel Kant. For Kant, enlightenment is defined as man s release
from his self incurred tutelage. He blamed society for forcing ideas onto people, as well as the
individual for remaining captive to the thoughts of others. The point of enlightenment, in Kant s
opinion, was for individuals to emerge from the darkness and break the chains of bondage that
society had put on its citizens. The following is a further explanation of what enlightenment... Show

Voltaire was one of the most influential philosophes during this era and his novel suggested that
enlightenment was attainable; however, much like Kant, Voltaire believes by and large the ordinary
citizen will not reach a state of enlightenment. In conclusion, the Age of Enlightenment was a
crucial period in history because it shifted the way individuals engaged in politics, religion, and
society. Furthermore, during this age, numerous philosophers emerged, including Kant and
Voltaire. Kant encouraged people to abandon their laziness and cowardice and have the courage to

  • 2. Sketches By Boz – Passage.Charles Dickens’ Language In Sketches by Boz Passage Charles Dickens language in the passage suggests gloominess the motif of darkness is present throughout. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene a sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it would be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere, foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field of abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the Government) of essentially neglecting its citizens by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor. But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time and were not yet considered ... • 3. Illusion Vs Reality This illusory extends to Willy s sons Biff and Happy Lowman. Willy also creates the illusion that his sons were successful and perceived as great men. When asked why his sons were not lending him a hand, he exclaims, They are working on a big deal. However, the reality was that his sons were unsuccessful. For instance, Biff fails to get a loan. This delusion largely rubbed off on both of his sons, but it had more impact on Happy. Happy begins to believe that he was a top and major functionary in the company. However, the reality was that Happy was the assistant to somebody else s assistant. Even Biff points out to him asking him, You re one of the two assistants to the assistant, aren t you? (Miller, 2001). In addition, Happy places a great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He considers that Biff s success would cover up his own failures and inability to succeed. However, in the end, Biff realizes his folly and becomes mindful of the reality of their lack of success and that their notion of the misplaced American dream is wrong. He even points this out to his father. The theme of illusion versus reality is also apparent in Willy s marriage. Without doubt, it is portrayed in the play that Willy is unfaithful to his wife, and even Biff ends up stumbling on him while cheating. However, Willy maintains the appearance that he is constantly being honest and faithful in his marriage. His wife, Linda does not know the reality of their marriage. In the culmination of the play, they realize the facts over the make believe illusion under which the family was living and accept the truth. The Lowman family finally accepts that they are not successful, nor of great importance to the companies as they deem themselves to be. However, Willy refuses to accept this reality and completely reluctant to give up his dream, which in the end destroys him (Miller, 2001). The lack of discernment between reality and illusion has a significant impact on the Lowman family. They end up deceiving not only others but also, most unfortunately, deceiving themselves. These illusions take control of their lives, and it is only at the end, that they finally see the reality of their circumstances. However, Willy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Encryption in Today s Information Systems In today s world of instant connectivity and information at users fingertips, it s vital that sensitive information is safeguarded against those who seek to do personal harm and profit from gaining access to the data. The key behind keeping information safe is the method in which it s protected and encrypted. In order to appreciate how information is secured, users must understand the encryption concepts behind it. To do this, one must comprehend the current encryption standards, the trends and developments in encryption technology, the importance of securing data, the government s regulations pertaining to encryption, the companies involved in research and implementation, the implications of leaked or stolen data, and a brief look into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a fellow general received the message, he would wrap the paper around his corresponding scytale to decipher the message (Tyson 2014). Since the advent of computers though, encryption has become increasing important and relies almost solely on cryptographic means to secure information. When speaking about encryption today, it refers more to the process rather than the mathematical formulas used to scramble data. The basic idea behind encrypting a computer message is such that it is scrambled with a sequence of random bits, known as a key, and only parties with the corresponding key can transpose it back into a comprehensible format. These keys are created via a cipher, otherwise known as an algorithm. When a user sends a message, known as the plaintext, across a network, the computer applies an algorithm to the information to encode it, resulting in a ciphertext (Encryption Basics 2014). This method can be best summarized visually: Plaintext message + encryption algorithm + secret key = Ciphertext Ciphertext + corresponding key + decryption algorithm = Plaintext message Generally speaking, modern encryption techniques fall into one of two categories symmetric (homogeneous) and asymmetric (heterogeneous). Symmetric encryption is a system of communication whereby both parties share the same key to encode and decode a message. The Spartan generals used this method with their scytales. ... • 6. The Role Of Community On The Health Status Of The Population The roles of community in advancing the health status of the population are varied. While community participation is essential to advancing population health, evidence to support whether community participation directly advances the health status of the population is limited.1,2 It is limited because the role of community is constantly re formulated to fit the needs of the population it serves.1,2 According to McLeroy et al, community can be defined in four ways: community as setting, community as target, community as agent, and community as resource. Due to the numerous ways community can be defined, generalizing the role of community and how it impacts healthis difficult. While generalizing can be difficult, providing strong evidence to support the roles of communities influencing positive health outcomes is more so. This literature review will attempt to address the following questions as they relate to communities advancing health: 1.What is the evidence of the roles communities play in community health status improvement? 2.What types of change have been reported? Service delivery? Prevention? Infrastructure changes physical activity resources? School based programs? Nutrition? 3.How do community organizations get involved in health improvement interventions? 4.What is the role of leadership in community level health services improvement? 5.What is the role of community healthcare systems in population health improvement initiatives? 6.How do communities ... [b] Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, Abbasiya, Cairo, Egypt, 11566. *Corresponding author: E mail address: chemtims@yahoo.com Abstract Many Schiff bases, including two novel compounds, were prepared to inhibit the corrosion reactions of mild steel in acidic medium. Their chemical structures were determined using IR, Mass spectrometry and 1HNMR spectroscopic analysis. The results showed that the protection of mild steel, by these Schiff bases, depends on many factors like function group, inhibitor dose and the temperature of the medium. Thermodynamic adsorption parameters (Kads, О”Gads) of studied inhibitors were calculated using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The presence of iodide ions in the medium increased the efficiency of these inhibitors. AC impedance spectroscopy was used to determine the polarization resistance. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed the corrosion products decreased after using these inhibitors. In addition, the best inhibitor in this study used to increase corrosion inhibition of treated sample by Electrolytic plasma process (EPP). Key words: N aminophthalimide; Schiff bases; Mass ... Despite Scout s curiosity about Walter and his strange habit of drown[ing] his dinner in syrup, Walter s visit to the Finch household is successful. The children certainly enjoy his company, as does Atticus, who talk[s] to him like a grown man about farm problems. After hearing that a Cunningham was rarin[g] for an outright acquittal for Tom Robinson, Scout s friendship with Walter is further cemented. Unfortunately, Aunt Alexandra forbids Walter from visiting their home. He is trash, and she will not have Scout picking up his habits and learning Lord knows what. Aunt Alexandra s displays her values when she refuses to let Scout play with Walter. To her, social class and family is crucial. The Cunninghams are not [the Finches ] kind of folks. • 9. How Does Shakespeare Present Humanism In The Tempest Humanism is a belief that human needs and values are more significant than religious beliefs, or the needs and desires of humans. In the play, The Tempest by William Shakespeare is one of the most intellectual and ideological of all Shakespeare s works, reflecting Renaissance ideals, and extremely amenable to discussion and explanation. Among the last works of a mature and practical playwright, it is one of Shakespeare s most significant commentaries upon the conduct of real human beings and practical government in a modern state. The Tempest displays elements of humanismthrough many of its lead characters. Also, in sonnet 18 by Shakespeare portrays humanism by the love for people. In the fifteenth century the idea of humanism stemmed first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the play there are several scenes that represent humanism. For instance, when Prospero had his dukedom usurped by his brother and the King of Naples, and Prospero was later exiled (Shakespeare, 502 503). Prospero feels cheated and abandoned, and started to hate Antonio and Alonso. Prospero s feeling of hatred begins to drive him to plot vengeance to make justice balanced. When the moment arrives to initiate his plan, much of the actions Prospero took seem hostile. Conjuring a storm and causing contention and confusion among the noblemen certainly is not friendly. Prospero wants to recreate the scenes of his forced exile by the noblemen so that the nobleman can see the pain that Prospero went through. As humans, the feeling of love and hatred usually precedes motivation. That feeling of motivation will often dictate whether or not an event will be hostile. Sometimes when an event occurs, it is possible that the feeling may change, which will bring a different perspective and thus a different motivation to act. Prospero does embody the humanism movement. In this quote The Tempest as a humanist play implies through Prospero s abjuration of magic, his return to Milan, and the restoration of a civil order that the ultimate end of these acts in which man governs his life depends upon a human being, not the upheaval of magic (Stanivukovic). • 10. Drinking Diet Soda Is Healthier For You Than Drinking... Next, many consumers believe that drinking diet soda is healthier for you than drinking regular soda filled with sugar but studies are starting to show that artificial sweeteners may actually lead to diabetes. Mary Ann Yantis, PhD, RN, a nurse educator for Nursing Education Consultants and Kate Hunter, RD, LD (2010), a clinical dietitian at Adventist Medical Center reports (2010) that drinking more than one serving of diet soda per day can increase your risk of metabolic syndrome by more than 36%. Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors, which includes hypertension, abdominal obesity, hyperglycemia and hypertriglyceridemia. These risk factors increase a person s risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and stroke. This same study also reports (2010) that one diet soda per day can increase a person s risk of developing type 2 diabetes by more the 67%. This is possibly due to the fact that artificial sweeteners can be up to 13,000 times sweeter than sugarand this intense sweetness can be addictive thus creating cravings for more sweetness in order to feel satisfied. Yantis and Hunter (2010) point out that the sweet taste triggers the same dopamine signals that are also triggered by drugs such as cocaine and heroin. Craving for more intense artificial sweetness will result in consuming more calories, increase the likelihood of developing insulinresistance, and more than likely affect the glucose metabolism (Yantis Hunter, 2010). I will separate the sources of finance needed into three categories; start up costs, running costs and expansion costs. When starting up your new business premises will need to be secured from which you will trade. I m going to look at ways that you could secure premises. The first option available to you is a mortgage; these are long term loans offered by banks or building societies based on property as collateral. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... to purchase this machinery and equipment you will need to use medium term sources of finance. These could be; a bank loan, this is a quick and easy source of finance, but this would mean paying interest. Also the bank may require collateral, and the machinery and equipment may be repossessed if loan repayments aren t met. Another source of medium term finance available to you is leasing. This means that a firm could lease you the machinery and equipment that you will need. However, although less initial finance is needed to obtain the assets, over time this works out more expensive than buying. Hire purchase is similar to leasing except the firm will eventually own the assets. The assets are paid for in instalments, whilst the business is using them, this however can bring with it major cash flow problems, because interest payments can be very high. My recommendation when attempting to secure a source of finance for machinery and equipment would be to get a bank loan. I recommend this because; the machinery and equipment is instantly accessible to the business allowing it to operate, also the interest payments aren t as high as hire purchase, and with a bank loan the assets become the property of the business once all repayments are met. • 13. The Effect Of Low Phonics On The Existing English... Abstract: My research English project is about studying the importance and effects of adding Phonics to the existing English curriculum at the early grades of elementary 4th to 6th grades in Saudi Arabia. Phonics is an important in the whole English learning process, especially at the early ages and elementary school years. Phonics depends on sound of words and how to spell them correctly and accurately. Currently, there is no structured phonics learning implemented at our elementary schools for English learning. If the phonics is implemented, it will enhance the spelling of words and pronunciations. By applying more methods and tools to teach phonics as educational videos, clips and educational software available in the market. Reading English for those kids will be easier and will be better in reading comprehension. Introduction: Phonics is all about teaching children the sounds in English words. When you can identify sounds in words and sentences, you are well on your way to becoming literate. Well, with phonics, your child will have the confidence to identify the vowels, consonants and syllables and can at least attempt to read the word. Phonics basically teaches your child how to sound out words in the English language. Phonics is a method for teaching reading and writing by developing learners phonemic awareness. In fact, new discoveries made by NASAs Curiosity Rover and its team was brought out very recently. In the news there was an article, NASA Curiosity Rover Discovers Evidence of Freshwater MarsLake , about the roverthat may have found evidence of an ancient lake. Through these discoveries scientists of NASAhave made a hypothesis that Mars was in fact Earth like, not just the desert that we know it as today. They believe that Mars had many swimming holes that were part of a wet environment that could potentially have supported living life. These life forms could live on Mars because of the environment that was once similar to earth s. One of the major craters that they were looking at which supported this idea was called the Gale Crater. This specific crater is known to have rocks that were around 4.2 billion years old, and said to be from a running water lake. This idea has just been developed from a long lasting idea that Mars did have some water but its quality was like battery acid. Many times before, NASA has sent rovers to Mars to search for life. They have not only sent Curiosity but also Spirit and Opportunity. The one that found all of this information, Curiosity, had the job of sampling rocks by drilling holes in them. First off, lie detectors are actually called polygraph tests and they use several psychological indicators to determine if someone is lying or not when they are answering a series of questions. Blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, perspiration rate, and the conductivity of their skin are all factors the polygraph test uses as indicators. He realized that the he could not pass the test unless he confessed, which he did. He confessed to raping the girl, cutting her throat, wrapping her in a garbage bag, and dumping her body into a trash compactor. Another example of a case that has been solved by the polygraph test is the murders of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Paschal Placker. These two women were murdered by Kevin Sweat, who had agreed to take a polygraph test because he thought he could outsmart the test. During his interrogation, police discovered that he had burned the bodies on his father s land. This is sometimes, also referred to as Net Neutrality or Network Neutrality . b) FCC s idea of open internet. On December 21, 2010, FCC adopted some rules to preserve the openness of the internet [4]. This Open Internet Order of 2010 divides internet access into two classes i.e., fixed line providers and wireless providers. The order is more aggressive towards fixed line broadband providers as compared to wireless providers. The rules were formulated to prevent ISP s from carrying out unlawful practices in blocking the access to the content. This FCC s idea of open internet follows three specific rules 1. Transparency: FCC suggests that fixed and mobile broadband providers should publicly disclose accurate information about the network management practices, performance characteristics, and terms and conditions of their broadband services. The disclosure should contain all the information necessary for the consumers to make suitable choices for buying content, service and application [5]. However, the service provider does not need to disclose any security information or competitively sensitive information [5]. 2. • 33. Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book that is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the whole novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he disregarded the laws of femalereproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that Victor defiled the feminine naturewhen he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor argued in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the necessity to have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are created in a laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479). In Bate s essay, Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the balance between female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke nature and undermined the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than the discussion of Bate because she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein dishonored the role of female nature. In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the development of the plot. Nature is considered a female part because Mother Nature is the collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and nurturing, as females are to their offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
