Boo Radleys
Respect is for those who deserve it, not for those who demand it (Anonymous). Atticus Finch earns
the respect of his townspeople through his dedication to his job, even when others are not fully
supporting of his actions. To Jem and Scout, Atticus strikes the perfect balance between allowing
freedom of exploration and being a disciplinary parent. These characters are from a book called, To
Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, published in 1960. To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in Alabama
during the Great Depression and is narrated by the main character, a girl named Jean Louise Scout
Finch. Her father, Atticus Finch is a lawyer with high standards. Jem, her brother, and Dill, their
friend, love exploring and are intrigued by the infamous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People reason that Boo has allegedly stabbed his father in the leg with scissors, and was accused of
breaking the law at a young age. As the characters evolve throughout the book, Boo Radley engenders
the kids to slowly realize that he is not as evil as what the citizens of Maycomb claimed him to be.
Boo Radley symbolizes one of the novel s mockingbirds, a good person who is injured by the evil of
mankind. The first time we directly see Boo break from his evil appearance is when Atticus tells Scout
that [s]omeday, maybe, Scout can thank him for covering her up (Lee 72). Scout was so engaged with
Ms. Maudie s house burning down that she did not notice Boo Radley put a blanket around her. This
quote substantiates that a seemingly awful person, Boo Radley is not the vicious man that he has been
portrayed as. Also, the quote shows that Boo is looking after the children s lives, observing them, and
looking out for any troubles they may encounter. The blanket serves as a piece of evidence that Boo is
a kindhearted man who wants to be Scout and the children s friend. This is the first time that the
characters in the story consider that Boo Radley could be someone who is friendly, kind, generous,
caring, and is a new development in our characters understanding of Boo Radley. From the children s
point of view, Boo Radley is evolving from a mysterious and frightening figure into someone who is a

The Five Concepts Of Marketing Tools And Online Marketing
Task 3
3a Marketing communications are the means by which firms attempt to inform, persuade, and remind
consumers directly or indirectly about the products and brands that they sell. (Kotler and Keller)
Offline marketing is the traditional way of doing marketing that does not involve the use of the
internet. The five elements of the marketing communication mix pertaining to traditional marketing
are;
Advertising Radio, TV, billboards, newspapers, cinema
PR and Events Press conferences and press releases, seminars, sponsorship of arts or cultural events
Direct marketing Flyers, brochures, mail shots
Personal Selling Sales presentation, sales meetings, trade fairs
Promotion Buy one get one free, price off deals, samples, bonus packs
Whereas, the latest addition to the marketing communication mix is Digital Marketing which includes
methods of advertising or promotion using the internet such as SEO, Google Adwords, Mobile
Marketing, Email Marketing and Social Media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter,
Youtube to name a few.
The table below portrays examples of Online Marketing Tools and Offline Marketing Tools.

For example email marketing is free of charge and contents can be adjusted anytime. Whereas, direct
mail material is expensive to produce and to deliver and once printed contents cannot be amended. In
regards to traditional media such as press or TV, marketers have to book campaigns on way ahead of
time while online gives you the advantage to run a campaign instantly and for the desired period at a
lower cost. It is also quicker and easier to make changes to adverts online than for example in print
advertising or in a TV commercial. Also, production costs are much higher vis à vis online

in employee productivity? 1. Improve communication Employees have a better communication
through the lotus same time. Not only among them, they can also be linked with his /her boss, CEO,

Some other additional benefits of this virtual environment are: * Employee s knowledge can be totally
discovered. * Permanent communication between among areas. * Instant screen compartment. * Geo

Q3 * What types of communication are integrated within Sametime s digital environment? What type
of communication is missing? Does it make a difference? * Reciprocal it goes between two or more
people changing rolls. * Linguistic and extra linguistic People communicate through key board
(chatting) or using some familiar codes. * Private and public The communication inside the company
can be private when it occurs between two employees or public when it goes to everyone in the
organization. (In fact, it is not totally private because the conversation can be followed for the
database system.) * Formal The messages use a formal code according to the organization policies. *
Horizontal and vertical It can occur in a same range people or from boss to assistant.
What is missing here is the physical or interpersonal communication. It can make the difference
because when people talk they express a lot of feelings. The main advantage is that employees will not
realize if the other one is tired or in another bad situation.

Use of Anabolic Steroids in the U.S.
Our Nations Little Secret Within every gym and athletic practice across the United States there are
secrets. These secrets are kept by public gyms, membership health clubs and even high school sports.
This secret is killing our youth and disrupting the sportsmanship of not only the United States, but also
on an international level. What I am referring to is the use of anabolic steroids. This epidemic is
spreading through our country like a wildfire. It is going unnoticed and misunderstood. Even our
government has not found the money the man power or the time to deal with this killer. It can be
bought wherever pleasure or illicit drugs can be found. The people who push these drugs are usually
the people teenagers look up to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women have basically the same reaction to the drug as men do. After long periods of steroid use, a
common reaction is the loss of the individuals hair along with the deepening of their voice,
permanently. Along with these reactions, body hair and facial hair also start to grow and darken.
According to Dr. Yealis, a professor of health and human development at Pennsylvania State
University, and a leading expert in steroid use, these drugs can change a women into a man in not very
big doses at all (Mongale 12). This is a very scary thought. Both males and females stack steroids.
This means that they use multiple steroids at a time. The common perception among users is if you
use a variety, then you take less of each one. They already take ten to a hundred times the
recommended amount. In researching this topic, I found that many users do not seem to see
themselves as addicted. According to a recent poll of 49 weight lifters, 28 would be considered
addicted. Another study done by Robert J. Dimfell, Donald A. Malone and John Lombardo showed of
163 weight lifters who worked out more than 6 hours a day, there were 88 abstainers, 31 current users,
and 44 past users (Bower 11). They reported that 18% of the past users and 13% of the current users
reported that they had a dependency. Malon commented We re not sure if current users are more likely
to deny these problems (Brower 12). The three researchers had a list of

Day after day, late students are punished or end up in...
Day after day, late students are punished or end up in detention due to short passing periods. Having
short passing periods can make a student s grade go down or worse when students are late to class.
This can be prevented by extending passing periods to 10 minutes. Although the staff at H.P.M.S may
disapprove, but in the long run, they will see the effects of having longer passing periods has on
students. Because of the short time of passing periods, students at Happy Place Middle School are
petitioning to extend their passing period time to 10 minutes. In short, some of the positive effects are
that students can get to class on time, and gives students and teachers time to prepare.
In addition to that, when the passing period time is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And also, the traffic in the halls often crawls at the SPEED OF MOLASSES. Simply to say, it can
make you very late for class. Students also go to their class missing their books because they don t
have time to go to the locker to get their materials. This makes it worse for students because they are
unable to do work (Abdelmalek).
Furthermore into the topic, the 10 minute passing period lets and/or helps teachers prepare for their
next period. A longer passing period would prevent students from asking to go use the bathroom, get a
drink, or be late, so teacher(s) have the student s full concentration, If your student doesn t have to
interrupt you to use the restroom or get some water, it is going to be a better learning environment for
the rest of the students. Without these interruptions you may continue your lesson and have student s
full concentration, instead of worrying about their personal needs (Medina). And also in addition to
that, teachers will have more time to prepare for their next class compared to 5 minutes, so teachers
can get coffee or take a break during the passing period. Therefore, passing periods should be
extended to 10 minutes since there are upsides and very few downsides, the upsides: Have more time
to get to their classes, students can be spared from the worst

essay that Tannen goes off in a different direction and loses your attention. She goes from talking
about high tech communication pulling us apart to road rage. She stated Road rage shows how
dangerous the argument culture and especially today s technologically enhanced aggression can be.
(406) I had a hard time seeing the relationship between the Road rage and technology. Though road
rage is definitely dangerous, I did not feel that this was relevant at this point in the essay. Tannen s
intended audience for this essay is the society as a whole; she is addressing each and every one of us.
At some time or another in our life we have come upon a situation where we have to decide whether
we fight for our own beliefs and opinions or if we let someone else shape the way that we feel. Should
we go to war with them?, no, but we should stand up for what we believe in. In this essay this is what
Tannen is attempting to get across though she wants you to look at all sides of the problem and just
not the main two. The wording of this essay was easy to follow; she for the most part keeps on track
with her thoughts. She transitions from one example to another very well and breaks her different
thoughts into separate parts. The sentences are well written they were not long, but were long enough
to get the point across. The

bought for almost no cost. This was totally an unfair treatment since they didn t do the same thing to
men. If a man was going to be executed, its virginity would not be taken before execution. This
tradition of not killing women who was virgin was just made to fulfill men s sexual desire. The dowry
system was just a way to free the feeling of guilt that the men might feel and made them to ease. Also,
the restriction on fashion was unfair for women. There were no restrictions for the men on fashion.
Men were allowed to wear whatever they wanted unless it fell under the standards of Iranian
government. However, women s restrictions on fashion were stricter compared to men. Women had to
wear veil. They weren t allowed to wear tight jeans. They weren t allowed to wear jewelries. In
addition, women were not allowed to receive the same education as men. They were restricted from

the Cultural Revolution, boys and girls were educated in a different school which taught had a

Ernest Miller Hemingway was an American author, short story writer, and journalist. He was an
influential author in the 20th century. He was unlike many other novelists who wrote out very long
intricate sentences. Hemingway revolutionizes what an author should be like. Which is why many
people fell in love with his economical and modesty style of writing. His life of adventure and the
view of the public influenced later generations. However, at the highest point of his literary career,
Hemingway s body and mind were beginning to betray him. He suffered from depression and was
treated for many severe conditions such as high blood pressure and liver disease. Late 1900s,
Hemingway committed suicide in his Ketchum home.

duty of care and took a number of individual approaches in this case with the most notable being the
plaintiffs vulnerability and inability to protect themselves. * There were some particular policy
considerations that have been identified by the courts as being relevant in these types of cases, the
most often cited policy consideration in these cases is the fear of indeterminate liability
The difference in decisions of High Court: * Caltex Oil (Australia) Pty Ltd v The Dredge Wilemstad

vulnerability and inability to protect themselves were the main considerations apart from factors of
policy considerations like indeterminate liability while arriving at the conclusion not placing major
reliance on proximity.

Remember to always think of the future. Once it s all implemented and built, you can administer your
network.
When administrating a network, you have to ensure critical services have as close to 100% uptime,
because if they are down, your users are going to hassle you all the time and that can be quite
annoying with some users. When maintaining a network, you also have a number of other tasks to
perform every day. These include:
User management
Adding, removing and apply security to user accounts and groups
Hardware
Upgrading hardware
Replacing faulting hardware
Software
Providing support for applications and operating systems
Ensuring critical data is being backed up
Monitoring
Monitor the system
Checking logs
Conducting security audits
Support
Attending to users help requests

One of the hardest challenges in administrating a network is application support. You can very rarely
just add a major application or a network service without any issues. Your network will need to
support it. For example, you cannot host a website if you only have dialup internet. Other factors that
are needed to be taken into consideration are:
Does it need to be secured? Both physically and virtually; internally and externally
Can the application be supported Are their people who know how to use the application?
What risks will it introduce? Viruses, Hackers, privacy?
Is there enough network capacity to

Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s Essay
Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s
In comparing the sixties and the nineties, my first thought was how much popular culture has changed
since then and how different society is today. The strange thing is, the more I tried to differentiate
between them, the more similarities I found. Both the sixties and the nineties were about youth,
creativity, free thinking, and expression. With the nineties coming to a close and the popularity of
anything ?retro, I decided to compare the fashions, people, music, and issues that defined pop culture
in the 1960?s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990?s.
In the 1960?s, society was changing by the minute and fashion was ?anything goes?. In the early
sixties, Jackie Kennedy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As fashion in the 60?s influenced fashion in the 90?s, the spirit of music in the 60?s is present in the
music of the 90?s. Many of the artists popular in the sixties are still major forces in music today. There
is no one genre of music that can define either decade. After the appearance of the Beatles and the
British invasion in the early sixties, music changed and everything before it was all but swept away.
There was surf music from the Beach Boys; folk music from Bob Dylan; R B influenced music from
Motown and the Rolling Stones; and psychedelic music from Jefferson Airplane and the Doors. In the
nineties, many new types of music evolved. These include rap music and hip hop which came from
urban dissatisfaction and unrest, while underground alternative rock became mainstream. In 1969, the
Woodstock music festival embodied the spirit of peace and love. It was repeated in 1994 and 1999, but
unfortunately, the festival in 1999 ended in violence, marring the essence of the original Woodstock.
Racial tensions, civil rights disturbances, and deeply divided opinions over the American presence in
the Vietnam war, all served to give the sixties a radical edge. People were passionate about what they
believed in and were willing to give their lives, if necessary, to the cause. Young people became
increasingly opposed to the Vietnam war and had a tendency to express their opinions more violently

What Is The Paradoxical Relationship Between The Health...
I plan to study the paradoxical relationship between the health benefits of safe cycling infrastructure
and the claim that it promotes gentrification and drives the communities it is intended to serve further
into the peripheries of cycling friendly cities. In November 2016, Austin voters passed Proposition I,
which granted $137 million dollars to improve sidewalks and urban pathways1. Among opponents of
improving cycling infrastructure in East Austin, many pointed out that bicycle lanes would increase
the growing pressures of gentrification on the lower income members of the community. This fear
accompanied the claim that minorities and lower income residents of East Austin do not use bicycles
for transportation, and that the lanes would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am personally interested in this topic because I believe that access to environments that promote
healthy lifestyles should not be restricted to the wealthy, and that city governments should concentrate
on increasing bike ability and walkability in lower income neighborhoods. Several studies have shown
replacing car travel with cycling and walking decreases obesity and increases overall health5, and one
study in Kansas even showed a significant decrease in employee healthcare costs following
investments in local cycling programs3. However, before interest groups launch advocacy and
infrastructure expansion, it is important that they understand the effects of that expansion, and
integrate consideration for future housing affordability into their plans.
Population (Inclusion/ Exclusion Criteria)
Through my capstone research, I hope to shed light on the three way relationship between bicycle
lanes, community health, and gentrification. To do this, I plan to find primary research that helps me
answer the following questions.
1. How does the addition of bicycle lanes affect community economics and growth?
2. Has research shown a correlation between the addition of bicycle lanes and gentrification?
3. How does bicycle lane availability differ in low income and high income

Elitism In Government
The ability to compel another person to comply with one s intentions is known as power. Authority is
a form of power that takes its force from legitimacy, political authority that is assigned by the law or
the state through legal documents. The government is an institution that is based upon authority. There
are various ways in which authority can be conferred upon a governmental institution and many
opinions on how it should be used. Thomas Jefferson states that a good government should be
considerate of the people s needs, and should concern itself with protecting its citizens without
interfering with citizens personal affairs. According to this interpretation, the government must be
restricted in its authority, should act in the interests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a government such as Jefferson describes, majoritarian politics is most fitting. Majoritarian politics
generally occurs when the government considers issues important to the people. The people have more
power because pressure from the majority opinion is exerted on the leader. Meanwhile, elitism occurs
when public opinion is largely absent, giving leaders greater freedom to act in self interest. There are
several theories of elitism: Marxism, which describes power as being in the hands of business leaders,
a view exemplified by the influence held by American capitalists; the power elite theory, in which key
leaders in society control and are served by the government, can be seen in the influence held by the
media and wealthy members of society; the bureaucratic view, which holds the official as the vessel of
power and hand behind administrative action, and may be exemplified by members of Congress, who
deliberate amongst themselves on matters that may concern the public; and the pluralist view, which
describes various powerful groups in government and politics as cooperating with each other while
being aware of the public opinion in order to maintain popularity. This is observed in the cooperation
between various branches of government and powerful organizations. Elitism allows for more self
interest. Although a self interested government does not necessarily dictate that policies will be
unbeneficial for the people, it is on the whole detrimental and less restricted than the ideal Jefferson
held for government. A majoritarian government is best suited to Jefferson s idea of

chronic pain, he was prescribed opium multiple times in his youth. It soon turned to recreational use
and, eventually, addiction. a habit formed early...and one to which he resorted for the rest of his life

The Mind s New Science Chapter Summary
The Mind s New Science by Howard Gardner presents the the marriage between the disciplines of
philosophy and neuroscience through the works of various philosophers. The fourth chapter of
Gardner s book is entitled, Reason, Experience, and the Status of Philosophy. In this chapter, Gardner
discusses René Descartes and his contributions to the fields of philosophy and neuroscience. As a
neuroscience major, I found Gardner s propositions about Descartes and his contributions to
neuroscience to be quite interesting. Gardner presents the idea that not only is philosophy the oldest of
the cognitive sciences, but we continue to address today the topics originally introduced by the earliest
philosophers. Philosophy was the first discipline wondering to what ... Show more content on

Descartes decided that the mind is the ultimate arbiter of truth. Causing much controversy, he
proposed that the mind is a rational instrument that cannot be recreated in any sort of machine or
robot. This proposition is still much debated in philosophy today and puzzles both philosophers and
the layman in the form of the mind body dilemma. Neuroscience continues to explore this idea in
2015. As a neuroscience major, I am personally puzzled by the disjunction between the body and
mind. I am especially intrigued by the proposal by Descartes that our minds are rational beings; I then
question how our feelings come into play. While neuroscience is able to explain which parts of the
brain are responsible for certain emotions, I am still left questioning how these emotions are triggered
in the physical world in which we live. Further, how do these intangible emotions connect to our
physical bodies? I consider myself a very emotional person, so the topic of feelings and emotions and
how they relate to the physicality of our brains and bodies is extremely fascinating to

The Curious Case Of Statehood
The Curious Case of Statehood:
Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands
With the admission of Alaska and Hawaii as states in 1959, the idea of non contiguous and non North
American states became real. Nevertheless, even with their striking similarities Puerto Rico and U.S
Virgin Islands have not been admitted to the union while Hawaii and Alaska have. This leads to the
the curious case of statehood . What exactly makes territories viable for admission into the union? As
a power directly giving by the U.S Constitution, Congress has the ultimate authority who and who
does not become states of the union. However, even with the precedent set in 1960, Congress has

As Puerto Rico was acquired first, a brief history would be given before the U.S Virgin Islands. Puerto
Rico was originally a colony of Spain from 1493 to 1898. In 1898 after the completion of the Spanish
American War, the treaty of Paris was sign. With terms favorable to the US, the treaty of Paris allowed

Since its acquisition by the United States, the now Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has remained an
unincorporated territory even when giving the status as commonwealth in 1952. An unincorporated

rights apply as a matter of law, but other constitutional rights are not available.

From mutants to aliens, superhumans and demigods, the idea of a hero has been an immense subject

beyond human is reflected the most in movies and comics. What is the first thing that popped into
your head when you heard the word hero Superman? Ironman? Batman? The term shouldn t be
restricted to Marvel s DC Universe characters. How we use the word hero should extend to everyday
people like ourselves. Whilst you may describe a hero by doing something heroic, that doesn t limit its
use to godlike entities with superpowers. Although, people shouldn t go branding everyone with a

Even though the definition of hero has changed drastically over the years, characters in The Odyssey,
an epic that describes the journey of Odysseus trying to return to his home, Troy, exhibit traits that can
apply to both the ancient and modern definition of a hero. The main character, Odysseus, isn t the only
one. For example, after being stuck on an island due to a storm, Odysseus and his crew are faced with
a decision to either starve, or kill the sun god s (Helios) cattle. One of Odysseus first mates,
Eurylochus, was thinking about how that would affect the entire crew. After weighing the pros and
cons, he stated: Comrades, he said, All deaths are hateful to us, mortal wretches, but famine is the
most pitiful, the worst end that a man can come to. Will you fight it? (879 83). Contemplating
consequences, Eurylochus then decided that they would eat the cattle and suffer the wrath. The quote
shows that Eurylochus was thinking about his crew, and was deciding on the best possible course of
action for him and his men. He stated that he and his comrades would rather die from the gods than to
suffer through famine. Consequently, his actions proved heroic the first thing he thought of was how it
would affect him and his crew. Then he put into action what he thought

Essay On Yellowstone National Park Fire
Yellowstone National Park had experienced its driest season during the summer of 1988. The lack of
fires the previous years had led to a flammable buildup of old trees in the forests. These trees were
ready to burn, and they did. Towns close to the park were clouded with smoke and people were told to
evacuate as the fire burned out of control. Although this scenario is viewed as a tragedy for wildlife
and tourists, there were benefits that came out of it.
The event had burned more than 8,500 acres of land and destroyed the forests found in Yellowstone,
but there were outcomes of it that made up for the damage. For example, animals like fish, deer, and
bears had died during the tragic accident, but it turns out that it was convenient for the animals who
had survived. This was seen as an advantage for the other animals because the plants that they had
eaten before were burned, so they were able to feast on the remains of the already dead animals. Also,
in spite of the plants and trees being burnt due to the fire, they became useful as they were made into
new nests for birds like woodpeckers and bluebirds. Furthermore, it has also been proven that there
was no long term negative effect on the animal population in the park. ... Show more content on

Media s Effect On The Self Esteem Of The Girls
The standard that the media set for the girls is almost impossible to be achieved (Serdar, n.d.). This is
probably the most dangerous effect that the media brings toward the self esteem of the girls. It is
natural for people, especially girls to compare themselves with other people (Serdar, n.d.). This
comparison can be distinguished into 2 types, upward comparison and downward comparison. An
upward comparison occurs when the girls compare themselves to someone who seems to be better
than them. A downward comparison occurs when the girls compare themselves to someone who seems
to be worse than them. Exposure to media lead the girls to an upward comparison. Since it is almost
impossible for the girls to achieve the same level of appearance that the media set due to the use of
airbrushing method, the editing, lighting, and also the process of the models achieving those ideal
bodies, their self esteem will be low and ways of extreme diet will result in eating disorders such as
anorexia and bulimia. Consequently, to achieve those standards of physical appearance, there is a
socially constructed idea that in order to be beautiful, that is, in order to be like those thin models and
celebrities, it is necessary to be unhealthy (Serdar, n.d.). Moreover, media lower girls self esteem by
promoting fashion for skinny people. When people walk inside a shop, there will be super thin
mannequins, and the girls would think that the size that the mannequins wear is the standard size.

Role Of Gladiatorial Sports In Roman Times

Latin Ms.Cella Period 3
Sports During The Roman Time Period During the Roman Times from (31 BCE to 476 CE) sports
were both things that many did in their daily life and as well as Roman Fighting games. Not all
Roman games were violent and played by men. Many Roman kids would swim, ride horses, hunt and
fish, play board games during their leisure time. Sports were very important to the Romans because
some had a religious meaning to them. Gladiatorial games in Ancient Rome and modern sports have
more in common than some would think. Violence has been a key component to the success of each of
these games. Many spectators watched as the Coliseum was filled with blood from brutal gladiatorial
matches. These days, hundreds of people watch two men fight in a boxing ring. After thinking about
gladiatorial games and looking at modern sports see similarities between the two. The Romans
believed that they inherited the practice of gladiatorial games from the Etruscans who used them as
part of a funeral ritual. The first gladiatorial games were offered in Rome in 264 BCE by sons of

These cognitions also influence the individual s emotional responses, meaning the same event will
evoke different feelings for different people depending on how they interpret it (Beck, 1995). A key
philosophy of Beck s cognitive theory of emotional disorders (Beck, 1967; 1976) relates to emotional
disorders, such as anxiety and depression, being maintained through distorted thinking, sometimes
known as cognitive distortions (CDs). These CDs can be recognised at surface level as negative
automatic thoughts (NATs) that process in an individual s consciousness. Therefore an individual with
an emotional disorder will interpret an event in a negative manner, thus perceiving the situation as a
threat or in a detrimental way. These distorted thoughts or NATs are supported by assumptions in the
memory known as underlying beliefs (Wells, 1997). Underlying beliefs are based on an individual s
thoughts or cognitions relating to their attitudes and assumptions and are defined by Beck, et al (1979)
as schemas. Beliefs and schemas are established from childhood and previous experiences and
determine how an individual views themselves, others and the world around them (Beck 1995), they
can also determine how an individual reacts to situations. If theses schemas are negative this can lead
to maladaptive thinking and interactions between negative thoughts, emotions and physiological

fourths of slaves counted towards the total state s population so the associated state could have more

Peculiarities And Characteristics Of MTO Companies
MTO companies typically allow consumers to purchase products that are customized to their
specifications. MTO strategy only manufactures the end product after getting confirmation from the
customers. Unlike mass production where a material is manufactured many times, in MTO production
a material is created only once though the production process that might be repeated at a later time. As
a result, the consumer waiting time to receive the product increases but it allows more flexibility in
customization compared to purchasing from retailers shelves (Zhang et al., 2012). According to Muda
et al. (2009), MTO companies can be classified by the following two types
(a) Companies where a small quantity of products with a large number of different characteristics are
manufactured.
(b) Companies where a product has to be assembled particularly for a sales order. As demand for
specialized products increases, the MTO strategy becomes more popular among the companies.
Nowadays, even for standard products, manufacturers are willing to shift their production from
traditional concept to MTO or a hybrid production system to achieve shorter production cycle times

Buprenorphine is an opioid receptor modulator with agonist effects at the mu and delta receptors and
antagonistic at the kappa receptors. It is used to treat opioid addiction and control pain in non opioid
patients. It doesn t aid in smoking cessation. Choice C is not the best answer. Monoamine oxidase
inhibitors (MAOIs) inhibit the enzyme Monoamine oxidase hence are useful in the treatment of
depression and Parkinson s disease. Due to their interactions with multiple psychoactive drugs and
tyramine containing foods such as cheeses, meat, chocolate and alcoholic beverages, they have been
replaced by less dangerous alternatives. MAOIs don t play a role in smoking cessation. Choice D is
not the best answer. SSRIs are a group of drugs that increase extracellular levels of serotonin, which
plays a role in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. Their exact mechanism of action is
unknown, but it is possible that they maximize Serotonin s ability to bind post synaptic receptors by
decreasing its reabsorption by pre synaptic cells and increasing its concentration in the synaptic cleft.

World Cities: Tokyo and Mexico City
Introduction
World cities are home to some of the most innovative thinkers on the planet. Two world cities
numbering among the largest in population size are Tokyo and Mexico City, and each of these cities
are known for their global advancements. Tokyo is a center for fashion and precision technology.
While Mexico City is leading the way with technology to reduce their carbon footprint. That s why I
picked these two cities to visit on my trip to different world cities. I have a very diverse family and
chose to visit very different countries, and very different cities, each where several of my cousins were
located.
Profile of Tokyo Tokyo is located on the largest of the islands of Japan, Honshu. It borders the Tokyo
Bay and was built around three large rivers the Sumida River, the Ara River and the Edo River, for
which Tokyo city was originally named until 1868 when it was renamed Tokyo. The last census in
Tokyo was taken in 2010 and put the population of Tokyo s metropolis at 13,047,446. A recent
estimation made in 2013 says that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The population of Mexico City s metropolitan area is 20.4 million, while the population of the Federal
District is only 8.85 million. Mexico City has its roots in the pre Columbian city Tenochtitlan, the
capital city for the Aztecs. It holds its claim to fame as the longest continuously inhabited city in the
Western Hemisphere since it was founded in 1325, nearly 700 years ago. Mexico City is a world city
known for free trade. While the informal economy of Mexico City plays an important role inside of
the city, the city s main global industries include the food and beverage industry and the textile
industry. Ironically, Mexico City is known as one of the leaders in attempting to counter the effects of
global warming and the greenhouse gasses trapped above their

Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep
Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person s
overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend sleeping is
limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping behaviors to maximize
the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have noticed some
patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. Based on my sleep
journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of caffeine I intake and the time
spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time needed for me to fall asleep. I
tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was less busy and able to get more
sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up and trouble falling asleep have
remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an average of about nine hours of sleep per
weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I
would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a
sleep debt during this week, however I have experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt.
When this occurs, I usually try to make up for it by sleeping in on the weekends rather than napping. I
have found that taking naps isn t an effective way for me to reduce my sleep debt because I

The Portrait Of Elizabeth Farren, The Late Countess Of Derby
This formal comparison of two paintings displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Elizabeth
Farren, the Late Countess of Derby (ca. 1790), by Sir Tomas Lawrence, and Madame Aguste Cuoq
(ca. 1852 57), by Gustave Gourbet, brings attention the distinctions and similarities in the approaches
each artist took to present these two women s personalities living in the 18th and 19th century.
Initially the first thing the viewer notes is that, both paintings are full body length portraits of women,
who are focused directly at the viewer. The scale of both women figures, are fairly similar to human
size and their position allows the viewer to get a feel of the uniqueness of each woman s personality,
fashion and style. The portrait of Elizabeth Farren, The Late Countess of Derby, depicts an older
woman of age standing in the middle of a natural outdoor background. Her pose is rather modest, and
natural while, her right hand is holding a fur cloak that just covers her bosom area. She is standing
slightly leaning towards the front. She appears to be very graceful, and symmetric in dimension. The
texture of her hair appears grey and powdered. The expression of her face is calm and innocent,
however the eyes give an impression she stands as a strong female figure. Her cheeks have a natural
blush tone color to them. Mrs. Farren holds a fur beige, white and brown purse in her left hand, with a
velvet blue ribbon attached. On her left hand, the viewer can see she is wearing brown leather

That was one silly mistake that was under the influence of peer pressure. I m the type of person to be
honest, admit where I went wrong and move on from it.
Kindness: I feel I m a very kind person, I try my best to be nice to everyone. Although you can
occasionally get the odd troll or two in TeamSpeak, I m fairly good at staying calm and nice to them.
Sometimes players can get annoyed if they have died to a hacker, and I feel being kind will reassure
them that I m doing everything in my power to help them.
Fair: I am a very fair person, I give everyone equal opportunities and I don t treat one person
differently to another. If one of my friends came on the server hacking, I would give him the same
punishment as any other player without a doubt. I m a fair person and I don t give friends / people I

Advantages Of Being A Male Cheerleader
With the days and months closing in on graduation, May 18,2018, the idea of collage is pushing
harder and harder in my own mind. With so many options on the table I must make one choice that
can effect my whole life. There are three main factors that I took into consideration that helped me
make my decision.
Arkansas University is in Fayetteville Arkansas, and has many opportunities for me. Throughout my
grade school years at Waldron High School, I have been a cheerleader. As well as being a competitive
cheerleader through Statik Fusion and won nationals. With the experience I have gained through the
school system I am able to take what I learned and apply my knowledge to the U of A spirit teams.
Being a male cheerleader has its advantages and I will play those advantages to their full ... Show

The U of A has a music program that stands out from the others. With the music program you are able
to learn how to write music, also known as music notation. They also do what is called music
technology. Music technology is a combination of sound boards, different sound systems, and electric
hook ups. In the music program they also have what is called music performance. Examples of music
performance would be, concerts, live speaking, live shows included also would be any type of choir
and band. (U of A admissions)
Although cheer and my education are very important, i want to be able to have a good student life.
Even tho I say a good student life I do not mean good parties, and crazy people. What I mean by that
statement? I want a collage that will provide good student teacher relationships, in addition good study
to homework ratio. Even though I will study to make sure I get good grades, I want free time. Time
out of the classroom and with friends. The reason I think U of A is a good fit for me would be due to
the fact that Fay Town is a good place to eat and find things to

My Day Last Year, I Played A Soccer Player Essay
One day last year, I played a soccer game. How two kids slid at me, not knowing what I was going to
get myself into that day and how it would change my life. This is a story, of how an injury impacted
my dream of becoming a soccer player. In return, that injury shed light in another direction for me.
Saturday, early morning, birds were chirping, we had the earliest game that day. I arrived early, as well
as other players. As always, we greeted each other and began to complain how early it was and how
tired we were. Our coached arrived and we began to warm up before the game and we started to do
high knees and lunges. We also, did quick sprints back and forth and we gathered in a circle and
stretched our hamstrings, quads, calf s, and hips. We began to huddle up and our coach gave us the
same generic speech. That we need to communicate and work together. He began to choose the
starting lineups; I was starting off as middle, my brother as defense and so on and so forth. We started
to line up on the filed prepared to play. We were ready to win the game, most of all just to play. This
game was also a friendly match, which there is technically no competition for anything, no trophy, no
medals just competing for the love of the game and as well winning.
The referee blew the whistle and we began with the ball. We started to play with it. I always receive
the ball second, after the forward passes it back to me I turn around and passed the ball to one of my
defensive players. We

Atticus Finch earns the respect of his townspeople through his dedication to his job, even when others are not fully supporting of his actions. To Jem and Scout, Atticus strikes the perfect balance between allowing freedom of exploration and being a disciplinary parent. These characters are from a book called, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, published in 1960. To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in Alabama during the Great Depression and is narrated by the main character, a girl named Jean Louise Scout Finch. As the characters evolve throughout the book, Boo Radley engenders the kids to slowly realize that he is not as evil as what the citizens of Maycomb claimed him to be. Boo Radley symbolizes one of the novel s mockingbirds, a good person who is injured by the evil of mankind. The first time we directly see Boo break from his evil appearance is when Atticus tells Scout that [s]omeday, maybe, Scout can thank him for covering her up (Lee 72). Scout was so engaged with Ms. Maudie s house burning down that she did not notice Boo Radley put a blanket around her. This quote substantiates that a seemingly awful person, Boo Radley is not the vicious man that he has been portrayed as. Also, the quote shows that Boo is looking after the children s lives, observing them, and looking out for any troubles they may encounter. The blanket serves as a piece of evidence that Boo is a kindhearted man who wants to be Scout and the children s friend. This is the first time that the characters in the story consider that Boo Radley could be someone who is friendly, kind, generous, caring, and is a new development in our characters understanding of Boo Radley. From the children s point of view, Boo Radley is evolving from a mysterious and frightening figure into someone who is a true ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These secrets are kept by public gyms, membership health clubs and even high school sports. This secret is killing our youth and disrupting the sportsmanship of not only the United States, but also on an international level. What I am referring to is the use of anabolic steroids. This epidemic is spreading through our country like a wildfire. It is going unnoticed and misunderstood. According to Dr. Yealis, a professor of health and human development at Pennsylvania State University, and a leading expert in steroid use, these drugs can change a women into a man in not very big doses at all (Mongale 12). This is a very scary thought. Both males and females stack steroids. This means that they use multiple steroids at a time. The common perception among users is if you use a variety, then you take less of each one. They already take ten to a hundred times the recommended amount. Although the staff at H.P.M.S may disapprove, but in the long run, they will see the effects of having longer passing periods has on students. Because of the short time of passing periods, students at Happy Place Middle School are petitioning to extend their passing period time to 10 minutes. Students also go to their class missing their books because they don t have time to go to the locker to get their materials. This makes it worse for students because they are unable to do work (Abdelmalek). Furthermore into the topic, the 10 minute passing period lets and/or helps teachers prepare for their next period. A longer passing period would prevent students from asking to go use the bathroom, get a drink, or be late, so teacher(s) have the student s full concentration, If your student doesn t have to interrupt you to use the restroom or get some water, it is going to be a better learning environment for the rest of the students. Without these interruptions you may continue your lesson and have student s full concentration, instead of worrying about their personal needs (Medina). Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s Essay Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s In comparing the sixties and the nineties, my first thought was how much popular culture has changed since then and how different society is today. The strange thing is, the more I tried to differentiate between them, the more similarities I found. Both the sixties and the nineties were about youth, creativity, free thinking, and expression. With the nineties coming to a close and the popularity of anything ?retro, I decided to compare the fashions, people, music, and issues that defined pop culture in the 1960?s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990?s. Many of the artists popular in the sixties are still major forces in music today. There is no one genre of music that can define either decade. After the appearance of the Beatles and the British invasion in the early sixties, music changed and everything before it was all but swept away. There was surf music from the Beach Boys; folk music from Bob Dylan; R B influenced music from Motown and the Rolling Stones; and psychedelic music from Jefferson Airplane and the Doors. In the nineties, many new types of music evolved. These include rap music and hip hop which came from urban dissatisfaction and unrest, while underground alternative rock became mainstream. In 1969, the Woodstock music festival embodied the spirit of peace and love. It was repeated in 1994 and 1999, but unfortunately, the festival in 1999 ended in violence, marring the essence of the original Woodstock. Racial tensions, civil rights disturbances, and deeply divided opinions over the American presence in the Vietnam war, all served to give the sixties a radical edge. In a government such as Jefferson describes, majoritarian politics is most fitting. Majoritarian politics generally occurs when the government considers issues important to the people. The people have more power because pressure from the majority opinion is exerted on the leader. Meanwhile, elitism occurs when public opinion is largely absent, giving leaders greater freedom to act in self interest. There are several theories of elitism: Marxism, which describes power as being in the hands of business leaders, a view exemplified by the influence held by American capitalists; the power elite theory, in which key leaders in society control and are served by the government, can be seen in the influence held by the media and wealthy members of society; the bureaucratic view, which holds the official as the vessel of power and hand behind administrative action, and may be exemplified by members of Congress, who deliberate amongst themselves on matters that may concern the public; and the pluralist view, which describes various powerful groups in government and politics as cooperating with each other while being aware of the public opinion in order to maintain popularity. This is observed in the cooperation between various branches of government and powerful organizations. Elitism allows for more self interest. The Mind s New Science Chapter Summary The Mind s New Science by Howard Gardner presents the the marriage between the disciplines of philosophy and neuroscience through the works of various philosophers. The fourth chapter of Gardner s book is entitled, Reason, Experience, and the Status of Philosophy. In this chapter, Gardner discusses René Descartes and his contributions to the fields of philosophy and neuroscience. As a neuroscience major, I found Gardner s propositions about Descartes and his contributions to neuroscience to be quite interesting. As a neuroscience major, I am personally puzzled by the disjunction between the body and mind. I am especially intrigued by the proposal by Descartes that our minds are rational beings; I then question how our feelings come into play. While neuroscience is able to explain which parts of the brain are responsible for certain emotions, I am still left questioning how these emotions are triggered in the physical world in which we live. Further, how do these intangible emotions connect to our physical bodies? The lack of fires the previous years had led to a flammable buildup of old trees in the forests. These trees were ready to burn, and they did. Towns close to the park were clouded with smoke and people were told to evacuate as the fire burned out of control. Although this scenario is viewed as a tragedy for wildlife and tourists, there were benefits that came out of it. The event had burned more than 8,500 acres of land and destroyed the forests found in Yellowstone, but there were outcomes of it that made up for the damage. For example, animals like fish, deer, and bears had died during the tragic accident, but it turns out that it was convenient for the animals who had survived. This was seen as an advantage for the other animals because the plants that they had eaten before were burned, so they were able to feast on the remains of the already dead animals. Also, in spite of the plants and trees being burnt due to the fire, they became useful as they were made into new nests for birds like woodpeckers and bluebirds. This is probably the most dangerous effect that the media brings toward the self esteem of the girls. It is natural for people, especially girls to compare themselves with other people (Serdar, n.d.). This comparison can be distinguished into 2 types, upward comparison and downward comparison. An upward comparison occurs when the girls compare themselves to someone who seems to be better than them. A downward comparison occurs when the girls compare themselves to someone who seems to be worse than them. Exposure to media lead the girls to an upward comparison. Since it is almost impossible for the girls to achieve the same level of appearance that the media set due to the use of airbrushing method, the editing, lighting, and also the process of the models achieving those ideal bodies, their self esteem will be low and ways of extreme diet will result in eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. • 42. Sleep Analysis Essay On Sleep Sleep Analysis As we learned in lecture, sleep is an important component in improving a person s overall health. Because sleep is vital for cognitive function and available time to spend sleeping is limited for college students, like myself, it is advantageous to change sleeping behaviors to maximize the benefits sleep can provide. After tracking my sleeping schedule for a week, I have noticed some patterns and behavior that may be affecting the quality of sleep I am getting. Based on my sleep journal, I could improve my sleep by cutting back on the amount of caffeine I intake and the time spent on electronics before bed to try to reduce the amount of time needed for me to fall asleep. I tracked my sleep for one week early on in the semester when I was less busy and able to get more sleep, however the overall patterns in how I felt when waking up and trouble falling asleep have remained mostly the same. In this particular week, I got an average of about nine hours of sleep per weeknight. The recommended amount of sleep per night is between eight to nine hours (Teague 77). I would say I need at least eight full hours of sleep a night to feel like I am well rested. I did not occur a sleep debt during this week, however I have experienced weeks were I did accumulate a sleep debt. The scale of both women figures, are fairly similar to human size and their position allows the viewer to get a feel of the uniqueness of each woman s personality, fashion and style. • 47. My Day Last Year, I Played A Soccer Player Essay One day last year, I played a soccer game. How two kids slid at me, not knowing what I was going to get myself into that day and how it would change my life. This is a story, of how an injury impacted my dream of becoming a soccer player. In return, that injury shed light in another direction for me. Saturday, early morning, birds were chirping, we had the earliest game that day. I arrived early, as well as other players. As always, we greeted each other and began to complain how early it was and how tired we were. Our coached arrived and we began to warm up before the game and we started to do high knees and lunges. We also, did quick sprints back and forth and we gathered in a circle and stretched our hamstrings, quads, calf s, and hips. We began to huddle up and our coach gave us the same generic speech. That we need to communicate and work together. He began to choose the starting lineups; I was starting off as middle, my brother as defense and so on and so forth. We started to line up on the filed prepared to play. We were ready to win the game, most of all just to play. This game was also a friendly match, which there is technically no competition for anything, no trophy, no medals just competing for the love of the game and as well winning. The referee blew the whistle and we began with the ball. We started to play with it. I always receive the ball second, after the forward passes it back to me I turn around and passed the ball to one of my defensive players. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
