Foreign Direct Investment By Multinational Corporations
Developing countries lag behind the rest of the world in many aspects of life including economy,
education, and welfare. Achieving progress in any of these three areas is important in getting these
countries on par or at least closer to the standard of living present in developed nations. Numerous of
hypotheses have been posed to tackle and address these issues. This paper examines the aspect of
improving the economy and whether or not foreign direct investment by multinational corporations
would benefit developing countries. Some may argue, including the renowned artist Frida Kahlo that
foreign direct investments may actually lead to a decline in culture and exploitation. However, this
paper argues that the economy in developing countries could be significantly improved by properly
introducing foreign direct investment by multinational corporations. Foreign direct investment (FDI)
made by multinational corporations would spur the economy in developing countries which in turn
would lay the groundwork for improvements in other important aspects including education and
welfare without a decline in culture and exploitation of citizens.
Developing countries are stuck in a cycle of poverty that can t be broken from within the domestic
economy due to an insufficient supply of investment available in these countries to raise the
productivity and income levels of workers. The only way to break the cycle of poverty is through
investment from multinational corporations. FDI is an

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biodegradable Plastic
Introduction Since plastic first manufacture since 1960s , plastic bags had become one of the main
essential product in daily life until today. Plastic had become the benchmark for modern life as they
provide durability, strength, flexibility light weight with low cost. They have been used in everywhere,
from bags for groceries to bones holder for surgery. But plastic have become the most concern for
environmentalist as having a long decompose life. Although recycle is an effective way to reduce the
amount of plastic, but researcher found only 5% of plastic bags produced in US alone is being
recycled. (Sivan, 2011). {Sivan, A. New Perspectives in Plastic Biodegradation. Curr. Opin.
Biotechnol. 2011, 22, 422 426. } The best way to prevent plastic to pollute the nature is to produce the
biodegradable plastic. There are many ways to produce a biodegradable plastic, but here we will focus
on producing biodegradable plastic with synthesis of carboxylic acid.

Swept Away Creative Writing
Swept Away Lexie heard the bleeping of her alarm clock in the distance as she awoke from a deep
sleep. She turned over on her side and saw the clock read 4:46 am. She turned on her light and her
eyes started to water. All she could see was her green and orange walls until her eyes stopped
watering. After she stood there for a few moments, she walked over to her dresser and grabbed a shirt
and some blue jeans and slipped them on. All her stuff was ready to go so she picked it all up: her
boots, her show shirts, and show pants. She walked downstairs and quickly ate breakfast and she
grabbed her keys and her clothes and walked down the stairs and out the garage door. As the garage ...

There were at least ten other horses in the arena so Lexie walked around on the horse and she felt a

saw a sheet of rain come across the field. As quickly and safely as she could she got off Squealy,
grabbed the reins, and ran to the trailer. Luckily the back of the trailer was open so Lexie ran in there
and Squealy followed. As soon as Squealy was tied up, she shook her body trying to get all the rain off
of her body. Lexie quickly grabbed the saddle, bridle and girth and ran out of the trailer and ran
blindly to the dressing room door. Thunder boomed loudly and the rain came down as hard as it could.
Lexie whipped opened the door and jumped into the small room to find Cynthia sitting on the floor.

The Progressive movement of the 1900’s
The Progressive movement of the 1900 s was the most important event to occur in the United States
during the twentieth century. Progressives at first concentrated on improving the lives of those living
in slums and in getting rid of corruption in government. The goal was to make working conditions
better for the workers. True reform needed to happen. The workers of America believed this to be the
best nation with opportunities for all people. Reform started with industrialization. Workers needed
healthy and safe places to work, especially for women and children who were considered vulnerable
and weak during that time period. Women and children over 14 worked at meat trimming sausage
making and canning. The Jungle by Upton Sinclair in one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not approve of Congressmen for being more interested in themselves instead of the people they were
serving. This is when the term muck racker came into play. With modern terminology today the muck
rackers are known as whistle blowers. The muck rackers exposed the dark side of society. The big

Pro Gay Equality
To deny people their human rights, is to challenge their very humanity (Nelson Mandela). As a result,
the start of gay equality was seen when same sex marriage became legal on June 26 2015. Peaceful
protests were popular during 2015 to allow equality for homosexuals. However homosexuals still face
opposition in America as these groups are becoming unemployed due to sexual discrimination; as well
as denied basic accommodations and inadequate health care. Yet other American s feel that oppression
is necessary because people feel uncomfortable and believe homosexuality is unnatural. However, we
as Americans should move on from this form of thinking because it makes us think backwards instead
of forwards. While homosexuals endorse the fight for equality as it should be considered as a natural
basic human right, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The investigation assesses Was the main reason for the genocide in Cambodia political or economic? .
In order to classify the main cause of the genocide as political or economic, the investigation will look
at the events leading up to or causes of the Cambodian genocide. The forming of a Communist
peasant farming society, the U.S. involvement due to the military coup, and the joining of Prince
Sihanouk with Pol Pot. Speeches and survivor accounts of the Cambodian genocide are used to
decided upon the classification for the main cause of the genocide. Two sources that are used,
Cambodian Genocide: World Without Genocide and Origins Anatomy of a Genocide: Cambodia are
assessed for their origins, purposes, values, and limitations.
B. Summary of Evidence
Genocides typically occur during a civil revolution or political upheaval. Prince Sihanouk put into
effect 2 policies that dealt a severe blow to Cambodia s economy in his efforts to keep Cambodia
independent, safe, and neutral during the Vietnam War. He cut off economic and military support from
the United States and nationalize all Cambodian imports and exports . This predominantly helped him
cut all diplomatic ties with the United States and remain in good favor with the North Vietnamese. By
allowing North Vietnam to have troops in Cambodia, in Prince Sihanouk s mind he was keeping his
country safe because he thought that North Vietnam would win the war. Sihanouk s policies allowed

Compromises Of 1850
The 1850s were a time of attempted compromise when compromise was no longer possible. The
Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The North
and South had too many hostilities to account for. Socially, the North and the South could not stand
what the other would do or say with anything. Politically, the government was completely divided and
undecided. And economically, the South began to prosper as the North began to struggle. Thus, during
the 1850s, socially, politically, and economically there was not any compromise that could fix the
problems beginning to occur. In the 1850s, the North and South could not agree on anything and were
in constant disagreements. In 1850, Henry Clay created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This made the south feel that slavery was okay since they took care of their slaves providing them
food, clothing, and shelter. This would make the slavery issue more undecided since it seemed
humanely correct. It would create a more difficult way to compromise since they all knew it was
wrong, but there were also rights of it. The literature made the compromise almost impossible to be
agreed upon since the reasons were so indecisive towards if slavery was correct or wrong. Another
issue also created stir in the country and that was Harper s Ferry. Harper s Ferry was when John
Brown captured an idea of arming and freeing slaves. He thought slaves would help, but he was
wrong. He fought with the army, captured, tried, and hung. The North condemned the violence but the
South did not believe them and saw Brown s raids as final proof the North s true intentions, to use
slave revolts to destroy the south. This showed that there would not be any more compromise to go
over since the South felt they knew exactly what was happening and wouldn t take anything for an
answer. The countries people were fighting and there was nothing to do. On the other hand, politicians
were in an uproar on what should be done and could not come to a solution for anything. The
government had become divided into two over the problems that were being started in the country.
One of the first incidents was the

How Did The Influence Of Marx s Theory Of Modern Communism
Lenin was inspired by Karl Marx s theory of communism, which urges the workers of the world to
unite against their economic oppressors. The writings of Marx s theory of modern capitalism
influenced the events occurred in the early 1900s. The Communist Manifesto reflects an attempt to
explain the goals of communism, as well as the theory underlying this movement. The Manifesto
stated, Through most of the 20th century, the importance of the Communist Manifesto was
uncontested. It was important not because of its intrinsic merits, but because of the brute facts of
world politics (Marx). Also, The word communism first came into general use in France in the early
1840s as a term to describe an ultra radical offshoot of the republican movement that had re emerged
during the July Revolution of 1830 (Marx). Karl Marx started ... Show more content on

Karl promised to resolve the capitalist system but he thought these problems couldn t be solved and
that capitalism was doomed because of the diminishing profits rates. Thus, The traditional marxists
explanation of capitalist rationality is to root it in the consciousness of some sector of the ruling class.
(Block). Another statement was, Marx used the idea of a conscious, directive ruling class as a
polemical shorthand for an elaboration of the structural mechanisms through which control over the
means of production leads to control over other aspects of society (Block). A more general world of
Marx s importance as a sociological thinker became apparent in the 1890s with the publication of a

Evil Is The Devoid Of Good Intentions
What is evil? I believe that evil is the devoid of good intentions. Evil can also corrupt an individual
and society and evil can cause suffering. Evil is also wicked that causes harm, crime, misfortune, and
in some instances war. Throughout this course I have been able to study evil in eastern religions,
Hinduism and Buddhism respectively. There representation of evil is far different than my view of evil
was before this class. In this paper, I will discuss the evil ideologies of both religions and then choose
which ideology that I prefer. Hinduism has a very interesting aspect to evil. I learned this right way
though our reading of the Ramayana. The Ramayana is all about two main elements; demons and
devotion. Ravana, is a demon Rakshasa and is in love with Sita. Sita is the sister of Rama and is taken
by Ravana. Ravana heard that their was a beautiful maiden and he was just in love with the description
that he was getting of her. Ravana said that he needs to go and get her. Ravana than comes up with his
master plan. He tells Mareecha to disguise himself as a deer and try to lead Rama to chase you into the
forest. When Rama runs into the forest Ravana swoops in and takes Sita to Lanka, where Ravana is
king (The Ramayana). At this point Ravana has Sita which is good, it is what he wanted there is only
one problem. Ravana can not touch Sita because she does not love him. So at this point it is very
boring until the big battle. During the big battle between

High School Prayer
Previous to 1995, a student elected as Santa Fe High School s student council chaplain conveyed a
Prayer, described as overtly Christian, over the public address system before each home varsity

because the football game messages was a private speech, not a public speech. The Court was not
convinced by the district s arguments, ruling that the student speech was not at all private. The control
the school maintained over the usage of the student speech register government preference for prayer.
In view of the history of religious rituals in the school district, the district s student election rule was
present to maintain the ritual of pre game prayers. The Court also found that the voting factor used by
the school to determine whether a prayer would be given and who would give it only worsened the
Establishment Clauses issues since the different religious groups within the school now became rival
political factors. Voting for the speaker guaranteed not religious conflict, but also guaranteed that the
only
Religious groups that would be heard is the majority religion. These factors led the Court to find that
the district policy on pre game
prayers resulted in both perceived and real validation of religion by the government, and

Comparison Of Evidence And Pattern Evidence
Comparison of latent fingerprints found at the crime scene with exemplar prints, comparison of bite
marks on a victim, DNA evidence, hair and fibre matching are some of the example of pattern
comparison in forensic science (Coyle, Field Wenderoth, 2009). Comparison of pattern evidence in
forensic science is to determine whether the same kind of the properties of forensic traces may have
come from a common (or related source) (Found Edmond, 2012). There are varieties of techniques in
forensic pattern evidence that make associations between physical traces. The association of one or
more traces might be helpful in the investigation of a crime that usually can support an inference
(Cole, Berthental Seelagy, 2016).
Pattern evidence is any item where a mark or impression has been made during criminal activity with
the purpose of associating the mark with the object or implement that made it. Although fingerprints

Comparing Wilkie Collins The Moonstone And A Taste For Hard
In 1944 the literary critic Edmund Wilson wrote an exasperated essay in the pages of The New Yorker
titled Why Do People Read Detective Stories? Wilson, who at the time was about to go abroad to
cover the allied bombing campaign on Germany, felt that he had grown out the detective genre at the
age of twelve, by that time he had read through the stories from the early masters of the detective
genre, Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle. Even tho everyone he knew seemed to be addicted
the genre. His wife at that time, Mary McCarthy, was in the habit of recommending her favorite
detective novels to their émigré pal Vladimir Nabokov; she gave him H. F. Heard s beekeeper

More even than the stories of Poe or Doyle, the early work that to Eliot served as a model for the
genre was The Moonstone, by Wilkie Collins, a sprawling melodrama about the theft and recovery of
an Indian diamond, which appeared in serial installments in Charles Dickens s All the Year Round
magazine in 1868. In his introduction to the 1928 Oxford World Classics edition of the novel, Eliot
called it the first, the longest and the best of modern English detective novels. (This blurb still adorns
Oxford paperback editions.) The story is full of protracted plot twists and portentous cliffhangers,
many of them not of particular relevance to the mystery at hand; we are told as much about the
reading habits of the house steward, a fan of Robinson Crusoe, and the fraught romance between the
handsome Franklin Blake and the impetuous Rachel Verinder, as we are about the circumstances
surrounding the heist. For Eliot, such digressions helped lend the mystery an intangible human
element. In a review written in the January, 1927, issue of The Criterion, he claimed that all good
detective fiction tends to return and approximate to the practice of Wilkie

Introduction Betty Wilson has decided to open a coffee shop and is considering various options
including franchising, sole proprietorship, joint venture, corporation and partnership. In addition to
determining the best legal entity to form, Betty has to decide if she will employ or partner with various
friends and family members. Finally, she plans to name the coffee shop The Gathering Place and must
determine if the name is available and a good choice. This paper will evaluate the pros and cons of
various business options, address the dilemma of whom to hire and determine if The Gathering Place
is a viable option for the name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another limitation is that a franchisee is typically operating a trademarked business so the opportunity
to open a business under a name other than the franchise name is unlikely. For example, Betty would
not be able to purchase a Starbucks franchise but operate it as Gathering Place .
Business Formation Recommendation to Betty Based on the research of various business entities, the
most viable option for Betty is to form a LLC. With a LLC she can limit her liability and choose to
include a partner. It often takes years for new businesses to become thriving and profitable. A
franchise could place Betty in a position where she is obligated to buy unneeded inventory,
advertisement, etc. This type of financial obligation could limit the success of Betty s coffee shop.
Staffing the Coffee Shop Betty has received support from her husband to pursue this entrepreneurial
opportunity. There have also been friends and family who have expressed interest in potentially
partnering with or working for Betty. In successful business partnerships, the business partners visions
and belief systems align and are similar. If Betty wants a business partner, her husband, who is willing
to provide financial support but not management oversight, is the best option. Betty will need help
staffing the coffee shop and could consider hiring Alice and Erma as employees. She should be
cautious with Alice whose husband has already indicated he does not support his wife working.

3D Art Case Study
1. The 2D manuscript painting on vellum of The Limbourg Brothers from the February calendar was a
beautiful lively artwork. The painting illustrates the frigid winter air by using the white colors of the
snow to cover the landscape. Proportion is used to portray the far distance at which the center village

representation. The artist uses lines to create the edges of the farm building built of wood. The top of

Emphasis is placed on the center of the sculpture where Saint Mark is situated inside the empty space

Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and Giovanna Genami. Although painted with an astonishing level of
realism, his use of proportion when painting the hands is disproportionally small and seem flattened.
This illustrates how marriage back then did not require the presence of a priest or minister. The 3D

Homelessness In New York City
I. Define the Problem
For anyone living in or visiting New York City, the site of a homeless person is almost guaranteed.
Whether riding the subway, taking in the lights in Times Square, or going for a stroll in Central Park,
one is bound to see a homeless person. Homelessness does not discriminate; men and women can be
seen sleeping over a subway grate. Age is not a discriminatory factor either. Many a times one will see
a mother with her child/children sitting on the steps of a church begging for food and money.
These fairly simple observations lead to a non subjective conclusion; there are too many homeless
people in New York City. There will obviously always be some level of homelessness; it would be
naïve to assume that homelessness could be completely eliminated. However, the excessive level of
homelessness can be attributed to market failures across various market structures. This policy
proposal attempts to offer alternative solutions to alleviating these market failures, in the hopes that it
will translate into a decreased level of homelessness in New York City.
II. Assembling the Evidence
New York City has had an obligation to provide the homeless with secured shelter since 1979; during
this time, a veteran of the Korean War sued the city for failing to provide him with adequate housing.
Since then, the provision of providing a home to those who are unable to afford one was amended into

Analysis Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf
In The Death of The Moth by Virginia Woolf, we have a story about a moth that flies during the day
that eventually dies by the end of our story. The story of how the moth tries to beat death by always
moving and showing that he has life is one that is fought by all creatures. The way his wings are
yellow and the way they mix with the sun to show he is a day moth instead of a moth that we
commonly see at night is connected to how we ourselves dress ourselves as people that signify who
we are. The moth is pointed out to be a day moth instead of a night moth. The moth is depicted as
somewhere between a butterfly and a normal moth. Virginia Woolf makes an excellent story about
people and moths. In The Death of the Moth we see this who is fluttering outside the narrator s
window. We see how the moth, like everything else in the world, is soaking up the sun, which is also
heating its little body with life. The moth in this story is like every other living thing on the planet
earth. The moth wants to live and not die. This does not become apparent until later in the story. When
we see the moth finally land, and we understand that this is his last struggle against death. A way of
telling death that it could beat death. The moth struggles for what seems to be about a minute. The
moth eventually dies on the window sill and death finally beats down its victim. This represents how
many of people see someone on the street going about their everyday business, and nothing seems to

How the Internet has Affected the US Postal Service
Is the Internet Hurting the US Postal Service, or Helping?
The United States Postal Service has been around since 1775. Over the years the United States Postal
Service has grown and changed with America (USPS). In the Last 230 years the Postal service has
evolved greatly. Mail has been delivered from foot to horseback, then to stagecoach. From stagecoach
to railroad, and from railroad to Air. Now due to the advances in the internet, mail is being delivered
by e mail (Kamarck, Para 1). Many believe that the internet may very well be the down fall of the
United States Postal Service. Since 1970 the Unites States Postal Service has been self sufficient. The
Post Office generates its revenue from selling stamps and other postage, and the many other services
that it offers (Nocera, Para 5). The only thing is that the Post Office is loosing money instead of
making money. The internet began to have an effect almost as soon as Americans went online.
Between 1998 and 2002 the pieces of first class mail dropped from 54.3 billion to 49 billion pieces.
This has only continued to accelerate over the years. In 2004 the Postal Service delivered 48 billion
pieces of first class mail and in 2008 they delivered 39 billion pieces. (Kamarck, Para 5). In 2005 the
lost cost the Postal Service $20 Billion (Nocera, Para 2). The dramatic reduction of first class mail is
due to the internet moving personal and business correspondence from paper mail to e mail (Kamarck,

Discovering Netherlands Research Paper
Discovering Netherlands
During this past Spring I found myself traveling to The Netherlands to comfort my niece after a
terrible loss. This has been my second trip to this beautiful country even though it was not a vacation
trip it ended up been an amazing experience.
I arrived to Amsterdam but my destination was a new city for me The Hague, what a surprise! My
niece and her husband were renting a condo with a stunning view of Scheveningen beach. It is a
beautiful place with a large pier and all kind of restaurants, hotels and children attractions to entertain
locals and tourist. The weather was a little chill but the sun shone over the beach making the scene just
unforgettable. Full of people relaxing and having fun. The sun is really appreciated there, people does
not want to miss a bit of it since the winter days are very short. We walked the original pier and sat at
a restaurant to see the kids play and the adults enjoying a beer or a glass of wine.
This city has many International buildings and it is the main residence for the royal family. The
architecture and the gardens are amazing. I photographed almost every sculpted garden full with the
most beautiful tulips in all possible colors. It was impossible to ... Show more content on

flowers, from lilies, carnations, tulips and much more put together to form big scenes and themes of
animals, flowers, cars, different cultures were also represented all in flowers. Also trucks giving away
small plants and seeds as a token of their celebration. At the end we enjoyed a delicious ice cream and

Women Roles In The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien Essay
In this book there are three major women Linda, Martha, and Mary Anne. Linda s role is positive yet
very saddening because she in a way has given Tim O Brien the power to tell stories so in depth using
memories. Mary Anne s role is encouraging because she comes to Vietnam and throughout the journey
she discovers herself; she redefines the typical role of women. Martha s role in this book could be
considered positive because she is keeping up Jimmy Cross s morale but, at the same time it could be
negative because she leads him on. So the role of women in the book is very influential in a positive
way. Mary Anne is portrayed as the best woman in the book. She is only seventeen and her high

You just begin to see how she can t handle the war without going mad.
Martha is the first women we meet in the book. She is pretty much the typical stay at home war girl.
She writes letters to Lt. Jimmy Cross, they met at a college in New Jersey but nothing sparked
between them besides a friendship. There isn t any hope of them ever being together but Jimmy Cross
still thinks about her constantly everyday. In one particular letter she sends him a good luck pebble.
Martha wrote that she had found the pebble on the Jersey shoreline and carried it in her breast pocket
for several days (8). Jimmy Cross reads the letter spends hours wondering who she was at the beach
with, if she was with a man, if they were a couple. When the women sent letters home, it really helped
keep the morale of the soldier s. Although Martha continues to kind of mislead Jimmy when she signs
the letters love. Ted Lavender was shot in the head on his way back from peeing. He lay with his
mouth open (12).
Linda is the most important woman in the book. Even though she shows up in the end of the book for
the one story, she was Tim O Brien s first love. I just loved her. She had poise and great dignity. Her
eyes, I remember, were deep brown like her hair, and she was slender and very quiet and fragile
looking (228). This shows how much he loves her, he can recall much detail after so long. The reason
she is so important is, she is the one

The Role Of Independent And Non Medical Prescribing
The Role of Independent and Non Medical Prescribing: Prescribing is defined and the process
involving information gathering, clinical decision making, communication and evaluation which then
results in the initiation, continuation or cessation of medication/s. Independent prescribing means that
the prescriber takes responsibility for the clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients.
This included prescribing medications where necessary. Independent prescribers include doctors,
dentists and nurses. Dependent prescribing included an agreement between an independent prescriber

The following is a time line of the UK history of non medical prescribers and the factors influencing
its development. Prescribing in Australia is authorised by individual state and territory legislations that
deal with drugs and poisons. These legislations allow various levels of health professionals to
administer/supply medications under an assortment of protocols or direct order agreements. Any
prescriber must also follow processes that have been determined by their professional bodies, which is
legally binding in Australia. Legally, prescribers must also maintain all confidentiality and privacy
clauses. Also, the patient s health and wellbeing should be the focus of all decision making so that no
harm should come to the patient. The knowledge and skills obtained from the required training should
be used to optimise patient s health. Ethics of prescribing in Australia is a philosophy of clinical
practice that follows the following four principles the form the main framework for ethical decision
making; 1. Beneficence a. This is the duty by the health professional to do good. This usually overlaps
with efficacy, which is outlined by evidence based practice. 2. Non maleficence a. This refers to the
health professional s obligations to do no harm to patients. This includes avoiding adverse drug
reactions. 3. Autonomy a. Autonomy refers to the health professional s obligation to respect people

The Treatment Of Discrimination In Richard Wright s Native...
In the United States, there is an immeasurable amount of hate. Ever since our ancestors came here
from England, we search only for differences in each other. These differences can be anything from
the color of one s skin, religion, sex, or expression of his or her gender, even political beliefs.
Consequently, generally one will treat another differently due to characteristics that they have lack
control over. As a human being, one can only tolerate this treatment for so long, and the subject will
eventually retaliate. Yet, when an individual does retaliate due to poor treatment, no one asks why they
did so. Several characters from Native Son experience this mistreatment which people are still
experiencing today. In Richard Wright s novel Native Son, the characters are treated unjustly. Due to

unfortunately, nothing has changed. I have had a very challenging and interesting week. It started off
with trivial car issues. My car broke down and I have been renting a car since last Saturday. Sunday
the Men s Choir at the Church celebrated their 18th Anniversary. I was asked by one of the members if
I could stay until the program. I had already planned to go home, take a nap, and then return, but when
he asked I felt compelled to stay. I stayed at the Church form 9:00 7:00 pm. They had over 12 guest
choirs to come and each choir sang two selections. I thought I would take advantage of this
opportunity to mingle with the people and Mrs. Walls was one of the first I encountered. As she sat
down next to me I could tell immediately by her star glasses and wrap on her head that she was
flamboyant outwardly as well as inwardly. I told her I liked her glasses and how unique they were and
she responded, I know, if anyone else wore these they would look stupid. They only look good on me.
I smiled trying to contain my laughter. She then went on to talk and throughout the course of the
conversation, I heard many words of anger, frustration, and hurt projected towards the members of the
church. I looked at this as the perfect opportunity inject myself as preacher/teacher. Taking from

Napoleon Bonaparte s Life After The French Revolution
Napoleon Bonaparte was well known for the battles he fought throughout Europe. Born in the island
of Corsica, he rapidly rose military ranks and fought for France on the mainland: Italy. However, the
conquest that solidified his position in Europe was that of France itself. He launched his coup d état
little time after the French Revolution; in the year 1804. During his control of France, he implemented
various ideas of the Revolution. Napoleon s ambition had much to do with the fact that despite his
family was of the nobility, it was not wealthy. He was born second of Letizia Romalino Buonaparte s

Genoa by France, Napoleon adopted a French spelling of his last name later on in life. Napoleon

In the story Who Will Light Incense When Mothers Gone? the author has created multiple themes or
ways to interpret the purpose behind the story. Lam says, She turns 70 but she remains a vivacious
woman her hair is still mostly black, there is still a girlish twang in her laughter, and her eyes twinkle
at the telling of a joke (Lam). The way the author speaks about Mrs. Lam, using such vivid language
shows that he takes time to appreciate the person she is and how she lights the room up. Showing so
much attention to detail about someone can really show the love towards one another, thus allowing
filial love to be an alternative theme of the story. Filial love is a love from a child to his or her parents,

Vietnam is very much relevant to this story because of the fact that Lam s mother brings over
Vietnamese traditions in hope that her children will continue to carry on their her legacy. According to
the who will light incense when mothers gone? , Lam create the idea of Vietnams identity by saying,
mumbles solemn prayers to the spirits of our dead ancestors, and to the all compassionate Buddha.
Here he is explaining a Vietnam tradition his mother practiced as a daily routine, asking for protection
of her children and that they shall thrive in America. Between the family moving to America and the
mother asking of her God for her kids to prosper in America, this tells readers that the education
system or dreams for a good career probably are not as advantageous as the opportunities in America.
One of the biggest challenges in the Vietnam school system is that if a student has a question about
something, they are not allowed to address the instructor unless called upon. If the student never gets
called upon the student must than go back through the notes they took during class and find the
answer. But what if the notes were not written down correctly? Than that student has just answered the
question on the next test incorrectly because of inadequate communication of the school system. How
is a Vietnam student supposed to have a reasonable career if the countries school system is failing
them. However, just as the Lam family has done, moving to America will allow a strong and more
improved education for a levelheaded career. This is also known to be considered the American Dream

John Locke And The Declaration Of The Rights Of Man
To enlighten is to give intellectual or spiritual light to someone. The Enlightenment period in Europe
in the 17th and 18th centuries was an intellectual movement that inspired thought, question, and
reason in people across the continent. It was the age of new ideals that forever altered the course of
our world today and will always be a time where tradition was no longer the primary way in which
people led their lives. Several Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire, Rousseau, and Hobbes have
influenced multiple government systems to reform their ways by inspiring revolution. Natural Rights
creates a democratic republic government where supreme power rests with the people and allows them
to elect representatives to operate their country, therefore upsetting citizens since absolute monarchies
rule. Natural Rights spawns uprisings and revolution in countries because people believe it to be their
right to have shared power which is evident through multiple documents such as The English Bill of
Rights, U.S. Constitution, and The Declaration of the Rights of Man.
John Locke s idea of Natural Rights created a whole new aspect of how the government should be
constructed. Natural Rights is the freedoms people are born with and should be protected by the
government, if not then the citizens have the right to overthrow the government since their rights are
not being preserved. This Enlightenment ideal is an important aspect in both today s world and during
revolutionary periods

The Pros And Cons Of Harry Harlow
Harry Harlow, American psychologist, surrounded in controversy, drove psychologists bananas. He
questioned whether children established relationships with their maternal figures because food, or if
children established relationships based off of other factors. To test this theory, Harlow bred and
studied the rhesus monkeys to determine what is the basis of a bond. Separating the children from
their mother, Harlow introduced surrogate parents, the wire mother and the cloth mother. The wire
mother was wooden and metal contraption with a bottle for food, while the cloth mother was swaddled
in the same fabric that lined the children s cages. The results were overwhelming, with the monkeys
preferring the cloth mother for the majority of the time. The monkeys would often only resort to the
wire mother, when necessary and preferred the cloth mother in times of duress, confusion, and even
for a sense of security. He concluded that children, regardless of species, formed bonds with their
maternal figures because they give the child a sense of security/comfort, contrasting the behaviorist
theory that children only established bonds due to their caretakers being their only food source.
However, Harlow did not stop here, he continued his research and tested the effects of complete
isolation. His new study, the pit of despair , kept monkeys in isolation for at least a year, and then
would reintroduce them to other children. The effects of isolation resulted in aggressive behavior,

The Impact Of Social Media Technology On The Context Of...
5.3 Research Methodology
In order to fulfil the objectives of this research, this research needs to be looked from certain
frameworks, such as the journalism principles and cultural issues. The research would examine how
these frameworks cover the use of social media technology in the practice of curation journalism. It
would involve an excavation of qualitative data from informants within the research s subjects, those
are journalists of Kompas.com, Tempo.co and Viva.co.id, three online media in Indonesia. In relation
to that, I include this study into a paradigm in the field of qualitative research. This option was taken
under consideration the social benefits within this research, which I believe will enrich the information
about the construction of meaning and culture shift in the context of curation journalism.
Thomas A Schwandt (2000) examines three paradigm stances in qualitative research: interpretivism,
hermeneutics and social constructionism. The interpretivists and the philosophers of hermeneutics
argue that it is possible to understand human actions by directly grasping the subjective meaning of
beliefs, desires and so on. Whereas, the social constructionists view that all knowledge claims and
their evaluation take place within a conceptual framework through which the world is described and
explained (Schwandt 2000: p. 191 197).
Based on the explanation above, and considering the frameworks that mentioned earlier, it is
envisaged that this study is laid within

History commonly repeats itself and America s political trends seem to be mirroring those of President
Roosevelt s time period. Donald Trump recently attempted to enact a travel ban on many middle
eastern countries, he did this with the intentions of decreasing American fear of terror threats and
controlling radical islamic terrorist by targeting majority islamic countries and essentially banning
them from America. This travel ban is eerily similar to Executive Order 9066. Both President
Roosevelt and President Trump utilize modern technology, favor isolationist values, avoid taking
moral responsibility for their actions, and fail to honor traditional American values. They also share
the fact that their actions and foreign policies encouraged racial hostility and perpetuating stereotypes.
The only apparent difference between these presidents is that President Trump has an example before
him, giving him an insight on how his actions may play out in the real world, while Roosevelt could
only guess how his would play out. No matter how thoroughly President Roosevelt thought about his
decision to sign Executive Order 9066, he could not have predicted the outcome. An American

In the case of the New Republic, they were lucky that Stephen Glass unethical behavior was exposed
or else the magazine could have suffered a great deal more than they already did having to admit that
most of his articles were fabricated. Unethical journalism as a whole causes society to feel as if they
can trust no one, which then leads people to feel as if they need to do their own research in order to
obtain the truth. Falsifying information only further disrupts the trust between the media and society.

Direct current may be obtained from alternating current supply by use of a current switching
arrangement called rectifier, which contains electronic elements or electromechanical elements that
allow current to flow only in one direction. DC maybe made into alternating current with an inverter
or a motor generator set. DC is commonly found in many low voltage applications especially where
these are powered by batteries, which can produce only Direct current or solar power systems, since
solar cells can produce only DC. Most automotive applications use DC although the alternator is an
AC device which uses a rectifier to produce DC. Many telephones connect to a twisted pair of wires,
and internally separate the AC component of the voltage between the two wires (the audio signal)
from the DC component of the voltage between the two wires caused to power the phone. Although
DC stands for direct current , DC often refers to constant polarity . Under this definition, DC often
voltages can vary in time, as seen in the raw output of a rectifier or the fluctuating voice signal on a

Hamlet’s Astounding Success Essay
Hamlet s Astounding Success
What secret formula did the playwright William Shakespeare use in the recipe for the tragedy Hamlet?
Why, this play has been the rage for 400 years! Let s analyze the reasons for its success.
A.C. Bradley tells in his book of criticism, Shakespearean Tragedy, the extreme importance of the
character of Hamlet to the rating of the play:
Naturally then, the tragedy of Hamlet with Hamlet left out has become the symbol of extreme
absurdity; while the character itself has probably exerted a great fascination, and certainly has been

There is no more exalted ranking than the above. Richard A. Lanham in the essay Superposed Plays
maintains that no other English tragedy has generated the literary comment which this play has
produced: Hamlet is one of the great tragedies. It has generated more comment than any other written
document in English literature, one would guess, reverent, serious comment on it as a serious play
(91). Robert B. Heilman in The Role We Give Shakespeare relates the high ranking of Shakespeare to
the innumerableness of the parts :
But the Shakespeare completeness appears graspable and possessable to many men at odds with each
other, because of the innumerableness of the parts: these parts we may consider incompletenesses,
partial perspectives, and as such they correspond to the imperfect (but not necessarily invalid) modes
of seeing and understanding [. . .] . (10)
Indeed, the reader finds a wide variety of parts from beginning to end of Hamlet. This is seen in the
fact of over 20 characters with speaking roles; and in their variety of occupations from king to grave
digger; and in the 20 different scene changes; and in the differentiation

The Union was becoming divided through many events in the time leading into the Civil War. The North and South had too many hostilities to account for. The Communist Manifesto reflects an attempt to explain the goals of communism, as well as the theory underlying this movement. The Manifesto stated, Through most of the 20th century, the importance of the Communist Manifesto was uncontested. Evil is also wicked that causes harm, crime, misfortune, and in some instances war. Throughout this course I have been able to study evil in eastern religions, Hinduism and Buddhism respectively. There representation of evil is far different than my view of evil was before this class. In this paper, I will discuss the evil ideologies of both religions and then choose which ideology that I prefer. Hinduism has a very interesting aspect to evil. In his introduction to the 1928 Oxford World Classics edition of the novel, Eliot called it the first, the longest and the best of modern English detective novels. (This blurb still adorns Oxford paperback editions.) The story is full of protracted plot twists and portentous cliffhangers, many of them not of particular relevance to the mystery at hand; we are told as much about the reading habits of the house steward, a fan of Robinson Crusoe, and the fraught romance between the handsome Franklin Blake and the impetuous Rachel Verinder, as we are about the circumstances surrounding the heist. Whether riding the subway, taking in the lights in Times Square, or going for a stroll in Central Park, one is bound to see a homeless person. Homelessness does not discriminate; men and women can be seen sleeping over a subway grate. Age is not a discriminatory factor either. Many a times one will see a mother with her child/children sitting on the steps of a church begging for food and money. These fairly simple observations lead to a non subjective conclusion; there are too many homeless people in New York City. There will obviously always be some level of homelessness; it would be naïve to assume that homelessness could be completely eliminated. However, the excessive level of homelessness can be attributed to market failures across various market structures. This policy proposal attempts to offer alternative solutions to alleviating these market failures, in the hopes that it will translate into a decreased level of homelessness in New York City. II. Analysis Of Death Of The Moth By Virginia Woolf In The Death of The Moth by Virginia Woolf, we have a story about a moth that flies during the day that eventually dies by the end of our story. The story of how the moth tries to beat death by always moving and showing that he has life is one that is fought by all creatures. The way his wings are yellow and the way they mix with the sun to show he is a day moth instead of a moth that we commonly see at night is connected to how we ourselves dress ourselves as people that signify who we are. The moth is pointed out to be a day moth instead of a night moth. The moth is depicted as somewhere between a butterfly and a normal moth. Virginia Woolf makes an excellent story about people and moths. In The Death of the Moth we see this who is fluttering outside the narrator s window. We see how the moth, like everything else in the world, is soaking up the sun, which is also heating its little body with life. The moth in this story is like every other living thing on the planet earth. The moth wants to live and not die. This does not become apparent until later in the story. When we see the moth finally land, and we understand that this is his last struggle against death. A way of telling death that it could beat death. Over the years the United States Postal Service has grown and changed with America (USPS). In the Last 230 years the Postal service has evolved greatly. Mail has been delivered from foot to horseback, then to stagecoach. From stagecoach to railroad, and from railroad to Air. Since 1970 the Unites States Postal Service has been self sufficient. The Post Office generates its revenue from selling stamps and other postage, and the many other services that it offers (Nocera, Para 5). Ever since our ancestors came here from England, we search only for differences in each other. Consequently, generally one will treat another differently due to characteristics that they have lack control over. I have had a very challenging and interesting week. It started off with trivial car issues. My car broke down and I have been renting a car since last Saturday. Sunday the Men s Choir at the Church celebrated their 18th Anniversary. I was asked by one of the members if I could stay until the program. I had already planned to go home, take a nap, and then return, but when he asked I felt compelled to stay. I stayed at the Church form 9:00 7:00 pm. They had over 12 guest choirs to come and each choir sang two selections. I thought I would take advantage of this opportunity to mingle with the people and Mrs. Walls was one of the first I encountered. As she sat down next to me I could tell immediately by her star glasses and wrap on her head that she was flamboyant outwardly as well as inwardly. I told her I liked her glasses and how unique they were and she responded, I know, if anyone else wore these they would look stupid. They only look good on me. I smiled trying to contain my laughter. Here he is explaining a Vietnam tradition his mother practiced as a daily routine, asking for protection of her children and that they shall thrive in America. Between the family moving to America and the mother asking of her God for her kids to prosper in America, this tells readers that the education system or dreams for a good career probably are not as advantageous as the opportunities in America. The Enlightenment period in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries was an intellectual movement that inspired thought, question, and reason in people across the continent. It was the age of new ideals that forever altered the course of our world today and will always be a time where tradition was no longer the primary way in which people led their lives. Several Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire, Rousseau, and Hobbes have influenced multiple government systems to reform their ways by inspiring revolution. Natural Rights creates a democratic republic government where supreme power rests with the people and allows them to elect representatives to operate their country, therefore upsetting citizens since absolute monarchies rule. Natural Rights spawns uprisings and revolution in countries because people believe it to be their right to have shared power which is evident through multiple documents such as The English Bill of Rights, U.S. Constitution, and The Declaration of the Rights of Man. John Locke s idea of Natural Rights created a whole new aspect of how the government should be constructed. Natural Rights is the freedoms people are born with and should be protected by the government, if not then the citizens have the right to overthrow the government since their rights are not being preserved. • 33. The Pros And Cons Of Harry Harlow Harry Harlow, American psychologist, surrounded in controversy, drove psychologists bananas. He questioned whether children established relationships with their maternal figures because food, or if children established relationships based off of other factors. To test this theory, Harlow bred and studied the rhesus monkeys to determine what is the basis of a bond. Separating the children from their mother, Harlow introduced surrogate parents, the wire mother and the cloth mother. The wire mother was wooden and metal contraption with a bottle for food, while the cloth mother was swaddled in the same fabric that lined the children s cages. The results were overwhelming, with the monkeys preferring the cloth mother for the majority of the time. The monkeys would often only resort to the wire mother, when necessary and preferred the cloth mother in times of duress, confusion, and even for a sense of security. He concluded that children, regardless of species, formed bonds with their maternal figures because they give the child a sense of security/comfort, contrasting the behaviorist theory that children only established bonds due to their caretakers being their only food source. However, Harlow did not stop here, he continued his research and tested the effects of complete isolation. His new study, the pit of despair , kept monkeys in isolation for at least a year, and then would reintroduce them to other children. The effects of isolation resulted in aggressive behavior, ... The interpretivists and the philosophers of hermeneutics argue that it is possible to understand human actions by directly grasping the subjective meaning of beliefs, desires and so on. Whereas, the social constructionists view that all knowledge claims and their evaluation take place within a conceptual framework through which the world is described and explained (Schwandt 2000: p. 191 197). In most countries religion has helped to set the value structure of their society by helping to frame what the citizens should expect out of their lives and what they should expect from the government. Today here are a variety of religions practiced in Latin America including Catholicism, Protestantism, Voodoo, Santería, Judaism, as well as indigenous religions. In order to combat religion s influence on Latin American politics the anti clericalism movement began in colonial times. Anti clericalism is defined as the opposition to the clergy for its real or alleged influence in both political and social affairs (Britannica, 2009). It should be noted that although anti clericalism is often associated with anti Catholicism, anti Christianity, anti deism, irreligiosity, and atheism they are not the same. Butler (2009) noted that we could hold the Catholic responsible for encouraging the association between anti clericalism and anti Catholicism to their followers. Secularism is also often associated with anti clericalism, which rejects all forms of religion in civil affairs. Fallaw (2009) notes that it is hard to tell where anti clericalism and secularism began and end.
