Child Labor Photography
In the article Little Girl in 1908 Child Labor Photos Identified there was a lot of information

Paleolithic And Neolithic Research Paper
The characteristic phases of development of pre historical humanity are the Paleolithic and
Neolithic eras. The Paleolithic era is called the Old Stone Age, and the Neolithic era is called the
New Stone Age. Pre History is the time before history where people had not developed the use of
writing nor cities. The societies of the Stone Agestarted to emerge as early hominids made most of
their tools out of stone , and because of their use of stone they are said to belong to the Stone Age,
the Paleolithicand Neolithiceras (Cole and Symes 4). The Paleolithic era is labeled as the
development of tools and a hunting and gathering period. The hominids in Africa started to make
tools with stone and fire. Later, about 200,000 years ago, the Neanderthals

Sparkly Tutu Essay
A Girl in a Sparkly Tutu When I grow up I am going to be a ballerina, truck driver, who rides a
motorcycle, shouted the small girl in a bright pink tutu under the scorching lights at her
Kindergarten graduation. I was this small girl and I have always been the child who wanted to
break away from the pack and be different from everyone else. I may no longer wantto be a
ballerina, for I realized my hatred for itchy tights, or a truck driver, I am unable to sit for that
long, but I still seem to dream big and stand out. To this day I still keep that little girlwho dreamed
big and loves a sparkly tutu inside me. It seems I have found that the way to stand out from
others is to be the leader that they can follow. I have always been a people person and seem to
feed off of other s ideas and needs. It is the people that I meet in my job, clubs, and activities, that
make me long for more in my life and to help them find more in their own. People tell me that
you can always tell when I am happy because I am bouncing around, like a bunny on to much
caffine, and trying to make everyone be in a better mood. However, the phrase I hear most... Show

Oskar Schindler Argumentative Essay
Over 11 million people died in the holocaust, and more than 7 million of them were Jewish.
Oskar Schindler was an entrepreneur who sacrificed himself for a cause he believed was unjust.
He spent most of his life around Germany in Europe. During the Holocaust, he saved over 1,200
people from the gas chambers. There are some people who don t think of him as a hero, but as a
man looking to make an easy dollar. In my opinion Oskar Schindlerwas a hero of the highest class
and deserves all the credit he received for his actions. When Oskar was born in 1908, no one could
ve guessed he would have such an impact on the world.
When Oskar was a young boy, he adored his father and strived to be like him. His Father and
Mother were both German, even though he was born in Zwittau, Hungary. His Father, Johann,
owned a farm machinery business that Oskar eventually worked at. He had one sister, named
Elfriede, who was seven years younger than him. After Oskar attended primary and secondary
school, he enrolled in a technical school. He was expelled from the school in 1924 for forging
his report card. After later graduating from a different school, he worked for his father for several
years. In 1928, he married his lifelong friend Emilie and he immediately stopped working for his
father but started looking for more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Oskar moved to Krakow at the beginning of WWI, and hired hundreds of Jews to work at his
factory it was much cheaper than hiring regular workers. He didn t have to pay them and only
had to feed them 1 time while they were at work. This made his business extremely profitable.
The one problem with that theory is that Schindler all though very profitable spent nearly all of
his profits bribing Nazi officers so they would let his Jews live. Oskar nearly went broke from
spending so much money on

Dbq Essay On Polio
Poliomyelitis (polio) is a disease that attacks the nervous tissue in the spinal cord and the brain
stem resulting in paralysis (Document One). Polio is caused by the poliovirus, but it is unknown
how this virus is acquired. The virus enters the digestive tract and stays in the intestines for up to
eight weeks, and then attacks the lymphatic system, the blood stream and eventually travels to the
brain and spine (Document Four). Once it is infected in one s body, the disease is highly
contagious and can be spread through contact of saliva, food, germs, or feces (Document Two). The
poliovirus causes most of its infections in the summer and fall. At one time, summer epidemics of
polio were common and greatly feared (Document Four). This may

Justification Is Defined As An Act Essay
Justification is defined as an act in which God declares all those who accept Him as their
personal savior as being righteous and the penalty of sin is removed from their lives by Him.
God removes a person who has faith in Him from a state of sin to a state of righteousness. It is
stated in the book of Corinthians 5:21 that, For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin
so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. The term is derived from the Greek
word dikaiosis which is a legal term that means to make a person righteous . The council of
Trent, view justification as a change in a person from being a child of Adam to being adopted by
grace, to be among the heirs of God through the second Adam who is JesusChrist (Denzinger, 1524
pg 115). In the New Testament, Paul declares that the law and prophets in the Old Testament
are
witnesses to how God s is right in justifying those who are righteous at heart. In saying so, Paul
declared that justification is an aspect that is clearly visible in the Old Testament. Although
justification is not brought out as a subject in the bible, its mention or aspect in the biblical
account serves as evidence of God s purpose for His people. (Surburg 129)
Two aspects constitute Justification include the human sinful ways and their divine grace found in
them. The two are evidenced ever since creation of man in the book of genesis took place. This
biblical account of creation states that upon completion of the universe, in the

Comparing the Concentrations of Saturated Solutions...
In this lab, lab 4.3 Comparing the Concentrations of Saturated Solutions, we set out to find and
compare the solubilities of two solids in water. In addition, we tested if solubility is a
characteristic property of a solid in a given liquid. This lab allowed us to test and use a reliable
way to measure the solubility of a solid. This lab can be replicated for any solid with the same
procedure, thus it gives us a method to calculate solubility. The two solids we tested in this
experiment were NaCl (Sodium Chloride) and NaNO3 (Sodium Nitrate). To begin the experiment,
we measured 5cc of water and 5g of NaCl and added them to a test tube. Next, we stoppered the
test tube and shook vigorously for two or three minutes. After we observed that... Show more

Six of the ten sodium chloride groups found the solubility of sodium chloride to be statistically 36g
/100cc of water, with a +3g/100cc margin of error. Three of the four groups outside this margin of
error had solubilities in the forties, 42, 48, 49g/100cc. These three groups made an experimental
error that altered their results and can be excluded from our analysis of data. Another group was in
the low thirties with 30g/100cc. Yet the beginning masses that compose the solubility equations do
differ. For example, one group found that the mass of their solution was 4.21 grams, but another
recorded a mass of 5.47 grams. When it comes to the mass of the solid (solute) the former
recorded a mass of 1.11 grams, the latter reported a mass of 1.38 grams. Nonetheless, they came
out with the same solubility of 34 grams per 100 cc of water. Thus we can prove that that
solubility is a characteristic property. This is because every group started with a different mass of
solution and solid, but they concluded with the same solubility (given the +3 gram margin of error
and excluding outliers) or were close. Therefore, solubility is a characteristic property. Of the eight
sodium nitrate groups three of them found statistically, with a +3g margin of error, 86g/100cc as
the solubility of sodium nitrate in water. Another group calculated the solubility to be 82, which is
just below the margin of error. Two of the eight groups

Taking a Look at Television Broadcasting
In many cases, it is safe to say that television broadcasting has polished the narrow mindedness of
an imperative individual to either antagonize a supreme man running for presidency or be his
very back bone in the process of voting. As airing prominent speeches made by powerful political
figures can get one simple idea of justice to more than half the nation as it stands, it can create a
strained society in which one will seem to manipulate the others aspect of just, and in return will
call for protests. In the favor of qualifying that television broadcast has been both deleterious and
accommodating to vote percentages, sources A, B, and F help to embellish the main points
fabricated in this essay. As of now, in twenty first century, broadcasting
has been very popular and it
only seems to give birth to new forms of idea that can be compressed into what the media has to
portray. Media, even in a history not so far away from our past have engendered the idea of
setting powerful people to defend why they should be elected as president. Broadcasting, even in
our not so long ago history has took the initiative to display one man sitting in office to half the
nation The advent of television in the late 1940 s gave rise to the belief that a new era was
opening in public communication...its wide geographic distribution and impact, provides a new,
direct, and sensitive link between Washington and the people (Source A). In the source showcased

Prestige Rather than National Security was the Main...
Prestige Rather than National Security was the Main Concern of Henry VIII s Foreign Policy from
1529 1547
During the 1930 s, much of Henry s foreign policy was distracted by reformation and as England
had broken away from Rome, England was on its own and to some degree in a vulnerable situation
especially when England was threatened by a Catholic crusade from The Empire and France.
Henry was alarmed by this threat and used monastic wealth to build up England s defences. Henry
spent a staggering ₤600.00 on coastal forts and on the navy; therefore, showing that during
the 1930.s Henry s main concern was national security rather than prestige, because of the reaction
he took by building forts and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the Greenwich treaty would help England s security for the future, as there would be an
alliance between England and Scotland due to the marriage. Also how can Henry really gain
glory from invading Scotland, if he really did want to gain glory and prestige, it would be gained
from invading a great power for example France, therefore, showing once again that Henry s main
concern when invading Scotland was national security.
When Henry invaded France in 1544, his main concern was national security as France had been
a traditional enemy and invading France would be seen as a glory war, but this came second in
his foreign policy, as France had threatened England with crusades in 1540 s, therefore, he had to
protect his security, by striking first. Even though Henry personally captured Bologne when he
invaded France, was mainly prestige, but was also in order to prove a point to his enemy that no
power can threaten England s security.
When Henry made an alliance with the Emperor Charles V in 1543 its objective was of capturing
Paris, but also because having the greatest power in Europe On you side at the time, mean t that

Comparing Osage Creation Account And The Navajo Creation Myth
Today, there are many theories on how the world was created however people have been
speculating on how the Earth was created for years. It dates all the way to the Native Americans.
The story The Osage Creation Account and The Navajo Creation Myth have both similarities
and differences. First, both stories put strong emphasis on nature. Secondly, The Osage Account
focuses on one specific animal whereas the Navajo Myth touches on many different creatures.
Thirdly, both stories each have a completely different version on how the world was created.
Initially, both stories start off giving background on a natural setting. The Osage begins telling
about how the Wazha zhe people lived in the sky. It also tells that the Moon and the Sun were the
people s parents. In comparison to the Osage, the Navajo Myth talks about a person Named
Begochiddy visiting the Lukatso, which is bamboo. This person also sends up a badger to view
the new world that there were to go to next. As each story progresses, each one goes into even more
detail about nature.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Osage Account, in the Navajo Myth Begochiddy sends a badger up to see the new world. Then the
story goes on to talk about how Begochiddy sent up seven different types of storms to mold and
shape the earth, and the story finally ends talking about the Lukatso

World War II and encompasses three separate plot lines. The first story follows the life of
protagonist Dorrigo Evans, a young physician in the military, as he is in a prisoner of war camp
in Japan, constructing a railroad with the other prisoners. The second plot line predates the first
and follows Evans in basic training, where he is sleeping with his uncle s young wife despite
being in a relationship himself. The final plot strand post dates either of the others and shows
Evans at seventy seven, still involved in a variety of extramarital affairs; still practicing medicine

Piaget s Stages Of Cognitive Analysis
The topic that I found interesting from the semester so far is object permanence from the
sensorimotor stage of Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development. This is interesting to me
because over a week ago, at the local county fair in my hometown, I happened to see this concept
be used in action with a cousin of mine that happened to be two years old. While at a family
gathering at the fair, I witnessed the father of my little cousin hide a ball behind his back that the
child had just had in his hands. When this was done, the child had no idea that there even was a
ball anymore. At the time, I had thought nothing of the situation. It was not until we started to learn
and read about certain concepts that I realized this could relate to what we were learning. I thought
that this was ironic that I would see such an event happen that I could connect back to our class
discussions. This concept of object permanencecan be found in our book in chapter 2. In chapter 2,
there is information presented about Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development. In connection to
the event that I had seen, the child... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Buddhist Way Of Life
1 For many, there is nothing more terrifying than facing the end of their life with few exceptions.
One of these exceptions would be the Buddhist way of life and their perspective of death. Buddhist
gained popularity in the U.S. as another pathway to inner peace and means of a healthy way to
view both life and death as one cannot exist without the other. Though this perspective may at first
seems optimistic, quite to the contrary Buddha proclaimed that life itself was all suffering in a
long, cyclical chain of death and rebirth. Compared to Western religions and philosophies,
Buddhismis on the opposite side of the scale with lacking the belief than every man and woman is

Dukkha is experience in many ways from the pain of birth and the grief of death, to the agony of
sickness to separation from that which you like or enjoy. As one of the Noble Truths proclaimed
by Buddha, the middle path encounters the seven sorrowful experiences as a part of every life,
but how to accept and move past these pains are truly what matters. Unlike Judaic religions
where the main truth in their world is to repent for a sin that is proposed to exist even before
you re born, Buddha declares that it is in the everyday life that we must overcome the distress of
craving that which we do not own. To add to the distress given through life itself, we must also
realize and accept that the self or the core essence that we think we know of today, is in fact not
true. Our self or as some say, our soul is not a constant nor is it permanent. Again, Buddha claims
that life is in fact substanceless where what most would call a soul is not something that is
permanent that we cannot have complete control over. Since the self is not eternal, we must let
go of such an idea and not base any way of life based on the self and focus more on a means of
releasing that stagnant thoughts that we must find our own sense of self. When we realize anatta,
then we are always paving the pathway for annica, or nothing is permanent or static. The Buddhist
belief in annica proposes that all things are in a state of

Becoming A Texas Senator Essay
Texas Senator
If I were to become a senator of Texas I would have to be at least thirty years of age, have been a
citizen for nine years, and live within the state of Texas. Since the Senate consists of a hundred
members, two per state, I would be one of two people to be elected for Texas State Senator.I
would be active six terms and would make $174,00 a year. A Congressional Session usually last
most of the year. The Senate met 136 days through the course of ten months according to
Congress.gov.
As a Senator of Texas I would like more strict gunlaws. I know that this issue has been brought up
over the past few years and that it didn t do so well with texans, but I do believe that a better gun
control plan would benefit the state. Statistics state that the United States has over three hundred
million civilian firearms in circulation and twenty times the homicide rate than all other western
nations combined. And recent practices conducted in other countries have proven that the
restriction of guns has had a dramatic impact on the death rate. For example, Japan passed a law
in 1958 prohibiting the possession of firearms. Since then Japan has become the country with the
second lowest death rate in the world. Similarly, after passing strict gun laws in the 1990 s,
Australia and the United Kingdom have noticed a drastic decrease in gun related deaths. Don t get

Homecoming Narrative
It was a cool september day when I stood in front of my mirror in my bedroom waiting to get
ready. I had been anticipating this day for as long as I could remember now. It was my first year
in high school and I still felt the rush of being a little freshman that had no idea what she was

head anymore. I was full of fear that I would have to go through so many days like this one in the

and you will do great things in life
I thought about my mother saying this to me and I suddenly remembered who I was and the kind

Strength that my parents were watching over me and still there in my heart. Strength that even

Social Media Impact On Body Image
The Impact of Social Media on Body Image As technology editing tools have become even more
prevalent, many feel the need to excessively use photoshop before they share an image online. In
a pervasive world where images of unrealistic standards fuel the media on how one should look,
social media has one of the most significant impacts on body dissatisfaction. Throughout the last
decade, social media has become one of the most common and favored ways for people to
communicate, connect, and share. Thus, there have been many debates and discussions on
whether the media has a positive or a negative impact on the way an individual perceives him or
herself. As the rapid growth of smartphone usage among adolescents and adults has increased,
social media has become an essential part of one s daily life. In today s society, when most
adolescents and adults turn on their smartphones, often times, the first thing they will refer to is
a social media site. It has become a place where they are exposed to news, images, and
expectations. Often times, these images, ideals, and expectations are ingrained in their brain and
bombarded with what is considered to be beautiful. Moreover, these unrealistic standards will
often lead to a form of comparison, influencing them to take extreme measures. Although social
media serves as a platform where people can connect, communicate, and share, it has a negative
impact on one s body image, because it can lead to a lack of self confidence and severe

The Trolley Problem Of The Monist
Judith Jarvis Thomson presents an ethical dilemma entitled The Trolley Problem in The Monist.
The problem describes a situation in which a trolley car is moving quickly and out of control on
a train track towards five people who are tied to the tracks; you have the power to pull a lever,
change the direction of the trolley car and save those five people at the expense of the life of
one person who is on the track the car was diverted to (Thomson 1397). The choice to be made is
not just about whether or not one should pull the lever though. The problem dictates a choice
about whether one would kill, in the case of choosing to pull the lever to kill the one person and
save the five, or letting die, in which case nothing is done and the five are killed because of the
lack of action taken (Thomson 1398). Thomson believes it would be incorrect to turn the trolley
and willingly choose to kill one person, rather than allow the five to die, but the philosophies of
Immanuel Kantand John Stewart Mill must be analyzed to determine whether they would agree
with Thomson, or have a different view from Thomson as well as one another. When considering
J.J. Thomson s Trolley Problem, the philosophies of Kant and Mill must be fully analyzed and
expressed to determine the most plausible perspective to be taken by both philosophers on the
issue. There are strengths, weaknesses and criticisms of both ethical arguments, and these will be
considered as well in the analysis. The ethical

Claudius s Responsibility In Hamlet
Responsibility is the state of being held accountable or being the one to blame for a crime or a
catastrophe. The person that is considered most responsible is the one that contributes the most
corruption to a conflict. In Shakespeare s play Hamlet, Hamlet s inexplicable actions make him
blameworthy for the final calamity of the play. His responsibilityis portrayed by him not taking his
father s place as king, failing to stop the marriage between his mother and his uncle, and by being
extremely consumed in his thoughts. After the death of King Hamlet, Hamlet fails to take
responsibility for the Kingdom of Denmark. Instead, he remains silent and seems to only observe
the occurrences that take place. His silence gives Claudius (his uncle), a chance to take over the
throne and become the new king. Claudius justifies his reason for coming to power when he says,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Container Freight Swap...

Introduction
Seaborne trade (a business), which carries more than 90% of all world commerce, is a volatile and
risky business due to the interplay of demand and supply and it effect on freight rates. The
rollercoaster nature of the business especially in respect to freight rates demand that critical
attention is payed to the management of risks.
In the past decades, freight rates have risen to their highest peaks and have also equally fallen to
their lowest level, to the advantage and disadvantage of ship owners and charterers respectively.

The Positive Consequences Of Sociocultural Factors In Society
1 Sociocultural Factors in Society Jordan A. Shelton September 28th, 2017 2 Different
Sociocultural Factors in Society Living in a very technology based world can pose both
negative and positive consequences. Some negative consequences can be children looking up
to social media influencers that are not good role models, and some positive factors may include
computer based programs to help better children s education. Today, I will be talking about both
negative and positive Sociocultural Factors in society ,and how we can potentially better the
circumstances at hand. I am going to get the negative aspects at hand out of the way so we can
end on a better/positive note. Social Media has made a huge uproar a for few years now, and
with that being said, Social Media Influencers emerged from it. Social media influencers are
mostly known in the YouTube world, Twitter, and Instagram are other examples. As they have a
pretty big fan base, and are loved by many, I do not feel like some should have a young audience. I
think it is normal to look up to someone as I did when I was an adolescent (around 13 or 14), but I

Dna Is Not A Bodily Fluid
DNA is not a bodily fluid, but is genetic information that can be identified through a bodily fluid.
According to a scholarly journal article, in the Nineteenth century law enforcement agencies began
to collect, organize, analyze and store collections of DNA samples for forensic purposes (big
brother). DNAis extremely useful when nailing a suspect who it has been traced to. The biological
evidenceleft at a crime scene comes along with a great story that has yet to be told through bodily
fluids such as semen, blood or saliva found at the crime scene. These bodily fluids become key
evidence to solving a case.
There are numerous cases that have been solved based on the findings of DNA through multiple
bodily fluids left at a crime scene. The case that I had chose was E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al.
Petitioners v. Troy Brown, which was a case that dealt with semen taken from a rapekit. Although
the subject of rape could a be a touchy subject for most people, I find cases that deal with such a
horrendous act to be very interesting due to how the case is investigated and the measures it takes
to find the evidence needed to solve the case.
In the case of E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al. Petitioners v. Troy Brown, on January 29, 1994, at
1a.m. 9 year old, Jane Doe was brutally raped in her trailer bedroom. Residing near Jane Doe s
trailer were two brothers, Troy and Travis. Across from Jane Doe s trailer resided Troy and Travis

Athletic Schedule Essay
NEWPORT BEACH, CA The Newport Mesa Unified School District abolished a rower s right to
have an Athletic Schedule. All school athletes get the Athletic Schedule which gives them an open
7th and 8th period. Many of the athletes given this schedule don t even practice every day of the
week, like crew. By ignoring the rower s need of the Athletic Schedule , NMUSD is implying that
the district doesn t think that rowing is a sport.
The NMUSD policy states that students should be able to show that, the proposed Independent
Study Physical Education program is not available in a District program, is not solely recreational,
and that such activity is in preparation for local, statewide, national, or international competition
through a recognized association . Rowing is run through the USRowing Association. The Newport
Aquatic Center Jr Crew competes in regional competitions to compete in Youth Nationals and
eventually compete in the jr world competition. Crew has been ignored as a sport simply due to the
fact that it is run outside the campus of Newport Harbor. NMUSD stated that, Instruction must take

April, 2013
Approximately one hundred and twenty thousand adoption cases take place each year. Adoption is
the practice where the rights of biological parent(s) to the child are transferred to foster parent(s)
permanently. Adoptionof a child usually would take place at a tender age of the child s life, so
the child wouldn t know of ever being adopted. Although this depends on if the child s foster
parents reveals to them the information of them being adopted. Usually a biological parent putting

Also the child may try to do anything they can in the hopes of finding or getting any type of
information on their birth parents. The decision for a child to look for their birth parents mainly
falls in the hands of the foster parent, if the child is under age. But if the child is of age and able
to make sound decisions the older child should be able to search for their parents.
The decision if a child should find their biological parents is a very controversial topic; it s
debated in many different aspects. In some cases it is okay for a child to reach out to their
biological parents because their parents only gave them up to better themselves as a parent for
the child. The birth parent probably couldn t cater for the childs welfare due to some reason
such as financial instability or mental status. Even thought this is the case the parent may be able
to provide essential elements for child growth. Or even the parent may be rich in oarental advice
and encouragements for essential individual growth. In aome cass children should meet their
biological parent because this can fill a void the child and even prohapes the parent has had for a
very long time. The child could feel left out or different from everyone els around them. And
meeting a biological parent can be the closure or the fill to the void that the child may need. The

coincide with the empiricist view that there are simple ideas that are from sensory qualities and
complex ideas coming from several simple ideas. This could mean to say that they were atomists
because atomism is reducing complexity to its simplest basic elements. Which is the assumption

It is an evident fact that outsourcing is quite prevalent practice among both public and private

with the aid of outsourcing that organizations attempt to reduce the overall cost of sustenance and
augment organizational productivity in comprehensive terms. The activity of outsourcingenables the
organization to render higher level of emphasis on core activities of business. In the past thirty
years, various researchers have undertaken researches to support outsourcing as a mechanism for
bringing down organizational costsin a substantial manner. But the comprehensive impact of
outsourcing remains to be seen. This research work will assess the relevance and significance of
outsourcing in reference to the process of new product development. It is a given fact that the
process of new product development is a highly knowledge driven activity and thereby depends on
array of other activities. It is highly dependent on organization s capabilities to manage uncertainties
throughout the course of new product development. Hence, various concerns in reference to
acquisition of knowledge and application need to be managed in the right manner. In the words of
Ford et al (1993), the main reason for costreduction is that organizations engage in the process of

To What Extent Were African-American Slaves в

Abstract:
To what extent were African American slaves free after the abolition of slavery by the
Emancipation Proclamation in 1863? What challenges did they face after their emancipation?
This is a subject of continued interest. History is rife with records of decades of untold torture
and harrowing experiences. African American slaves suffered at the hands of their captors and
masters. They were denied all natural rights as human beings and forced to live like animals. A
slave was viewed as one third of a person and the property of their owner(s) and treated as objects,
mere things. One would therefore assume that after their emancipation, life would become

Being pregnant did not spare a slave woman the whip or rod. A hole was dug for her to rest her
belly while being whipped. They were also at constant risk of losing members of their families if
their owners decided to sell them for profit, punishment, or to pay debts. Slavery indeed was
dehumanizing in every sense of the word.
The Declaration of Emancipation was monumental, and came with the renewed sense of hope
that life after their emancipation would become significantly better. Being free, the former
slaves envisaged being able to live with a sense of purpose and pride in a land ripe with a
cornucopia of opportunities waiting to be capitalized on. Spirits were high and celebration took
place as ideas and fantasies of a rich lifestyle with a good standard of living were being
formulated.[1] For some ex slaves, their dreams became somewhat of a reality as their fight for
survival during slavery helped them develop the wits needed to succeed in their new found world.
Unfortunately, there were many tragic disappointments, as nearly all the slaves that were
emancipated were forced to return back to their old masters after leaving the plantations, starving
and diseased.[2] Many were not able to survive on their own. This came as a result of both internal
and external forces being somewhat trapped by their own helplessness, insecurities, lack of

The Journey Of Candide
The Story of Candide is a short but diverse story that tells of a young man s journey for love and
understanding and the hardships he faces, all the while keeping a very strong, positive and
philosophical outlook on life. The novel takes place both in fictional and existing locations
throughout Latin America and Europe during the 1750 s. Voltaire
believed that the society he lived
in had many flaws, which are often illustrated and satirized in Candide. Candide s journey portrays
the flawed human assumption that the grass is always greener on the other side as well as giving
the reader an apt example of an individual s journey from innocence through a series of trials and
tribulations to becoming a mature, experienced and enlightened individual.
This essay will examine the development of the character of Candide over the course of the text as
well as commenting on the final conclusion that the protagonist comes to regarding the possibility
or otherwise of achieving happiness.

Essay on Kenyan Race Relations
South Asians, predominantly Indians, have a long history in Kenya and East Africa as a whole.
They first migrated to east Africa in the 1890s for the building of the Ugandan railway, and then
began to concentrate themselves in trade and professional occupations, such as doctors and bankers,
thus meaning they were, and somewhat still are, integral to the socio economic condition of Kenya.
Historically however, racerelations between black Kenyans and Asians have been acrimonious. The
reasons for this are subject to debate. In general, Kenyans felt that they were marginalised by the
domination of trade by Indians, leading to a relationship of envy between the two ethnicities.
Furthermore, there was a popular view that the Asians were... Show more content on

Instead, Asians were on the whole willing to work much longer hours and operated more
efficiently than African traders were ever able to6, meaning that the Asian dominance of trade was
unavoidable. Therefore, although a main cause of the hostile race relations was the monopoly over
trade that Asians held, this was not a deliberate act to undermine Africans. While the domination of
trade created a general feeling of envy towards the South Asians, it was the illicit and corrupt
actions of a few that led to the creation of an Asian stereotype, which contributed greatly to the
acrimonious race relations throughout the period. When these incidences occurred, stories of them
were spread around and embellished through word of mouth, the media, and the African
government, which caused a general distrust of Asians amongst the indigenous population. This is
illustrated by the scandal concerning the Mahindra and Mahindra company in the 1990s. This
involved the selling of defective jeeps to the police force at levels far above the usual market
price.7 As this hit the headlines of a number of newspapers8, it spread around the idea that Indians

Diversity And Originality Of The Philippine Culture In The...
The diversity and originality of the Philippine culture are outstanding and is heavily influenced
by the Spanish, who brought their own to spice up Philippine s culture, religion, lifestyle, and
way of thinking. It all dates back during 1564; it is one of the most significant years of the
Philippine history for it is a year in which the invasions on the Filipinos by New Spain led by
Miguel LГіpez de Legazpi were successful. It was not until later, however, when Legazpi and the
Spanish created perennial settlements around the coasts of Cebu despite heavy opposition from the
Cebuanos. Additionally, the Spanish sought after up and running, albeit small, communities
without central governing figures to perhaps strengthen the rule of the Governor General Legazpi.
Around this time, religion began playing a significant role in the Philippines as the Filipinos were
divided between Muslim and Catholic rule. The former deemed more dominant as the group was
much larger than the former, however, things were bound to change under Legazpi and the
Spaniards. Generally speaking, the number of Muslims in Mindanao and Sulu were much higher
than in Visayas and Luzon as the organizations were bigger and more organized, thus it was easier
to start with smaller groups. The Spanish took this opportunity and decided to Catholicize the small
communities before spreading the religion into a much bigger scale. It became the root of the
conflict between Muslim Filipinos and Christian Filipinos. On

TRICARE has had many learning curves to overcome. In the beginning, the contractors were not
prepared to handle the amount of members that serve the United States Military. Also, they were
unprepared for the multitude of health issues that were plaguing the families. One such issue was
the Gulf War Syndrome which the United States Government was attempting to cover up. Over the
years, their service to members has improved but has a long way to go in order to compete with
some of the private health insurance plans that are available. Many families who have major health
issues find it more convenient to pay for private health insurance. This also allows for those
families to get care without going through the bureaucracy and red tape that surrounds TRICARE s
policies.
However, not all has been lost. TRICARE is striving to succeed in providing optimal care for their
members. They have taken the initiative to enact new policies and benefits that allow for members
to see many private and local physicians and dentists. This has had a great impact on how
TRICARE is being perceived not only by their members but also the surrounding communities.

Structure And Purpose Of The Human Genome Project
Human Genome Research Paper
Everything that you are made up of comes from the same set of unique sequences inside your body.
All of your traits, characteristics, actions, and functions are controlled and created from a set of
genetic instructions. These instructions are called a genome. The human genome contains endless
amounts of information. Scientists have been working for years on ways to unlock the human
genome and gain access to all the information it holds. These studies presents multiple benefits but
also come with some controversy. Despite that, the human genome has been the focus of scientific
interest for years, and for a understandable reasons.
According to the UXL Encyclopedia of Science, A genome is an organism s entire set of genetic
information. In living organisms, that means its entire set of DNA, deoxyribonucleic acid, the
molecule that encodes genetic instructions. ( Genome 2015). Each genome contains all of the
information needed to build and maintain that organism. All of this information is embedded
within a sequence of base pairs that is over 6 billion bases long. By analyzing and reading the
order of the bases, scientists can begin to understand the structure and purpose of the human
genome. However this process is very long and tedious. Few attempts to decode the human genome
had been made before the Human Genome Project.
The Human Genome Project impacted the course of science and discovery forever. It was one of

Carbon Fiber As A Chemical Compound
Carbon fibre is a chemical compound that is composed of a long chain of carbon atoms bonded to
each other using covalent bonds. The covalent bonds are formed under extreme conditions of heat
and pressure and may combine a carbon compound with a piece of plastic or a polymer. The carbon
occurs in very thin strands that have a diameter smaller than that of a human hair though it is
credited to having the five times the tensile strengthof steel and two times its stiffness although it
the carbon compound has only two thirds the weight of steel. In modern times, carbon fibre is
commercially synthesised in industries as it has a wide variety of applications in tasks requiring
strength while at the same time minimising weight such as in aeroplane body panels.
Fibre glass, on the other hand, is made up of melted glass that is blown, elongated or extruded to
for a string like material. Fibreglass has an advantage over carbon in that the synthetic manufacture
of fibreglass is easier as it does not require high temperatures to be produced. The material,
however, has nearly similar physical properties to carbon regarding strength, weight and modulus of
elasticity.
In this laboratory report, we will investigate the tensile properties of the above two materials.
Introduction
The aim of the lab session was to study the properties of composite materials by testing the
materials in tension. The test composite materials to be tested comprised of carbon and fibreglass

Darkness at Noon Essay
The Russian Revolution and the purges of Leninist and Stalinist Russia have spawned a literary
output that is as diverse as it is voluminous. Darkness at Noon, a novel detailing the infamous
Moscow Show Trials, conducted during the reign of Joseph Stalin is Arthur Koestler s commentary
upon the event that was yet another attempt by Stalin to silence his critics. In the novel, Koestler
expounds upon Marxism, and the reason why a movement that had as its aim the regeneration of
mankind, should issue in its enslavement and how, in spite of its drawbacks, it still held an appeal
for intellectuals. It is for this reason that Koestler may have attempted not to solve but to expose the
shortcomings of this political system and by doing so... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rubashov s character vacillates between embracing the individualistic traits of his nature to the
pull exerted on him by the indoctrination of the ideology of the greater good, even at the expense
of individual liberty and freedom. Rubashov, during his time in prison though shows a propensity
to acknowledge the failure of the glorious tenets of the Revolution, for he has seen the horror of
the totalitarian system in the purges carried out by the party leaders under the pretext of filtering
traitors. In an acknowledgement of the folly of his and the Party s ways, Rubashov states ...we are
doing the work of prophets without their gift. We replaced vision by logical discussion... and it is
this acceptance of their shortcomings that shows the transformation of Rubashov. Rubashov, though
a committed Marxist, during his time in the prison seems vexed by the notion that the end justifies
the means because he has himself seen that the final result is often not what is seen in the present
moment but the truth that becomes apparent only in the light of retrospective thought. Rubashov
realizes that it is only history that can pass judgment and thus, the shooting of B. and thirty
others by No. 1 will be decided later He who is in the wrong must pay; he who is in the right will
be absolved. That is the law of historical credit;

The Causes Of Abortion
Abortion is one most divisive issues facing our country today. One of the main devastating
causes that result in abortion is rape. Not only is rape a prime leading factor to having an
abortion, but also numerous reasons such as negative impact on the mother s life, financial
instability, relationship problems, unwillingness to be a single mother and medical reasons
such as diseases, medical disorders and stillbirth. Many people believe it is immoral and even
consider it to be murder. The issue here is the pro life supporters forget to understand the
definition of abortion; The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the
uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth. Pro life believers do not
support the idea of induced abortion and believe it should be illegal. As a matter of fact, if
abortion were to be outlawed it would still be performed, unfortunately by an untrained or even
uneducated staff. Pro choice believers support the idea women should have the choice to do
what she pleases with her own body. As an example; a woman that is raped by a man and
becomes pregnant with his child she can decide that she doesn t want to bear with the child of
her rapist because it is too painful for her to cope with. Pro choice supports take sympathies to
these victims while on the other hand, these women get called murderers by pro life supporters.
Pro life support the idea that every child has a right to live, even if the mother is financially

Guantanamo Bay and Human Rights Violations by the United...
IntroductionGuantanamo Bay, Cuba is originally a naval base that was once used to house
detention facilities for Haitian and Cuban refugees fleeing to the United States. It was also used as
a refueling station for Navy ships. It was then converted into a high level detention facility to
house enemy troops captured in the War on Terror campaign by Secretary of Defense, Donald
Rumsfield. It has three main camps that house the prisoners. These prisoners of war were later
referred to as enemy combatants. They were excluded from the prisoner of war statutes of the
Geneva Convention because of their involvement in a foreign terrorist organization and therefore
earning themselves the title of terrorists. The Guantanamo Bay Detention Center served as the
perfect location to send these terrorists. It allowed the United States to strip them of any due
process or protection that is provided by US law. Due to its location, being in foreign territory they
are only subjected to military law. They are close enough for them to be monitored without
interference of intentional agencies or international oversight. Furthermore, the US Government is
holding these men without due process because they are deemed too dangerous to be released into
the public because of their associations with terrorist organizations and possession of valuable
information relating to National Security such as location of key members of a terrorist groups,
whereabouts. However, the United States cannot release those

What Are The Similarities Between Lying And Bullshit
One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. (Frankfurt). This
statement truly defines the current situation of our life. I have developed a decent interest in this
topic because we are surrounded by it and the majority of people don t recognize it. There have
been a lot of difficulties in understanding this topic as there are no particular theory has been given
to this topic. According to Frankfurt bullshitis unavoidable at conditions in which we expect
somebody to talk without recognizing what he is discussing. Therefore, the production of bullshit
is based on the opportunities that an individual have to express more on a particular topic than his
knowledge on the particular topic. We are going to talk about the similarities and differences
between lying and bullshit. We will also discuss that which one is more harmful to the society and
why, we are also going to discuss about some of the questions that are related to bullshitting in our
life and discuss why we are not doing anything about it or it is just a human tendency.
Lying is the practice of communicating lies and there are many similarities between lying and
bullshit. First the main aim of liars and bullshitters are that they both want the other person to
believe that they are telling the truth. Secondly they both want to get away with the situation which
led them to tell a lie or bullshit. But there is a great difference between lying and bullshitting. The
liar has an

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electronic Medical Records
Electronic medical record (EMR) can be defined as an electronic record of health related
information on an individual that can be created, gathered, managed, and consulted by
authorized clinicians and staff within one health care organization. There are two advantages
and two issues of EMR in Malaysian Government Hospital that I will discuss in this paper. The
using of EMR in Malaysian Government Hospital was enabling quick access to patient records
for more coordinated and efficient care. The medical record officer can access the patient
information within a short time, and it more save time if compared with searching the file record
of staff at the shelf. Enabling quick access also referred to the benefit of EMR system that sharing
a database system, whereas the medical record officer or doctor can use the system... Show more

The characteristics of electronic record that easy to modified and changed might cast doubt on
the court this is because if some data has been changed even for correction there are no trace that
showing the error was corrected, it different with a paper records, a simple line crossing out the
incorrect information will notify the reader that a change has been made. Moreover, usually
using EMR especially for conversion process, the original documents are scanned into a system
and then will shred or destroyed, these process might give a problem because some paper
documentation is illegible, but once the originals are destroyed there is no way to recover the
data. So, to overcome this issue, medical record officer must not too hasty in the destruction of the
original documents, they also should not destroy specific stored information that it is required to
preserve. Not only that, they also should always keep the original document as a backup, and use
EMR only for a quick access purpose rather that concern it as a system that can save a

Evaluate the Effectiveness of Lay People in the Courts
Throughout this section of my assignment I will evaluate the effectiveness of Lay people within
the courts. Throughout the United Kingdom Lay Magistrates are used within our courts and legal
system in relation to sentencing criminals. They work within the Magistrates court dealing with
summary offences, triable either way offences and they also deal with starting off indictable
offences which will then be sentenced in the Crown Court. Lay Magistrates come from local
areas and when appearing at a court they would usually gather three Lay Magistrates. This is in
order for the Lay Magistrates to come together in relation to making a final decision, towards
making their final decision they are able to receive guidance from the court clerk... Show more

These individuals do not have the qualifications in which other magistrates have which will require
lay magistrates to receive basic training in order to process making decisions towards sentences.
With their lack of knowledge this may result in Lenient sentences given Sentences not stable
Relying on the court clerk Inconsistent sentences Longer to analyse cases and come to a decision
Inconsistency in sentencing is due to the lack of knowledge in which lay magistrates obtain and
this creates a negative effect towards the court system. If sentences are inconsistent this means that
the role of courts is not being completed effectively as they should be. Lay magistrates who are
faced with offences may come to final decisions towards sentences which may not be acceptable, if
an individual commits an offence they must receive a sentence which is a punishment towards their
behaviour however with the lack of knowledge which the lay magistrate has, sentences may be
inconsistent. Another aspect involving a lack of knowledge which affects the court system
negatively due to lay magistrates is sentences being too light in comparison to the offence. Within
the magistrates court they deal with summary offences and triable either way offences in which
they must work towards coming to an acceptable sentence, if a lay magistrates has a lack of
experience comparing to the experience which qualified magistrates have this will result in
sentences given being too lenient.

Jaws Response Paper. Throughout Steven Spielberg’S Jaws
Jaws Response Paper Throughout Steven Spielberg s Jaws social class and wealth play a large
role in character development as well as story progression. As seen from the beginning, the town
of Amity is the hotspot for vacationers and in most cases, those of higher economic status. A
stark difference can be seen between the status of islanders (those who live in Amity) versus
those who only come to vacation, such as between Sheriff Brody and Dr. Hooper. Money and
stature are also key throughout the film as a motivator for several of the film s characters,
specifically Mayor Larry Vaughn, Quint and Dr. Hooper to drive their major decisions. In the very
beginning of the film we are shown a group of teenagers having a bonfire on the beach and... Show

In contrast to the first incident the townspeople are now immediately swarming over the attack
and searching for answers. Mrs. Kinter, in her desperation for justice, even goes as far as
blaming Brody (again a non islander) for her son s death rather than Mayor Vaughn who had
been the real culprit behind keeping the beaches open. She also enables two more examples of
money and status driven character development by offering a cash reward to anyone that can
catch and kill the shark that attacked her son. The character most obviously driven by financial
gain is the fisherman Quint who at the town meeting immediately following the attack on Alex
Kintner explains that he will bring in the shark for $10,000 instead of the $3,000 offered by Mrs.
Kintner. Just as Mayor Vaughn seeks to capitalize on the summertime and tourists, Quint is
interested in his own financial gain rather than the safety and wellbeing of the town. Dr. Hooper,
as Mayor Vaughn points out, is also likely motivated by money and stature related to finding and
killing the monstrous shark. While trying to explain how big and dangerous the shark really is,
Mayor Vaughn criticizes Hooper for only wanting to get fame and fortune by having his name in a
National Geographic magazine. Although he insists that he is strictly interested in the science
behind the beast and protecting the people of Amity the act of discovery often can harbor monetary
and status related gain. As a researcher, Hooper fully

Nuclear Weapons And Nuclear Proliferation
Committee 9
Nuclear Proliferation
Vanuatu
(A)Brief Background of the Topic
1.)What is the historical background of this topic?
Nuclear Proliferation is defined as the rapid spread or increase of nuclear weapons. Nuclear
Proliferation has been a conflict worldwide for years. It all started during the Cold War, when
the Soviet Union and the United States competed to obtain more nuclear weapons. As the Cold
War continued, France, Britain, and China all began to develop their own nuclear technology.
On July 1, 1968, the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was signed and entered
into force in 1970. Under this treaty, a total of 190 parties have agreed to help prevent the spread
of nuclear weapons. A few years later, the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks non proliferation act
(SALT 1) was signed on May 26, 1972 and entered into force on October 3, 1972. After several
years of struggle, the Cold War ended in December 1991.
2.)What nations are directly involved in this issue?
The top contributors of nuclear proliferation include countries like the United States and Russia
(formerly Soviet Union). These two countries were the first to obtain and test nuclear weapons.
They are responsible for more than 93% of all operational nuclear warheads. United Kingdom,
France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea all created nuclear arsenals to attain these
weapons of mass destruction. The United States currently possesses approximately 7,650 warheads,

Tips For A Sized Stroller System That Has All The Bells...
When you have a baby, you need to have stroller, if you are ever going to leave leave your house.
Of course, you will likely want to have a full sized stroller system that has all the bells and
whistles. Many of them are like baby Cadillacs. However, full sized strollers have some major
liabilities. They are heavy. In fact, they are often so heavy that it is impossible to get them into the
car, so you can push your baby around when you get to your final destination. If you are lucky
enough to win the struggle of getting the stroller in and out of your vehicle, the next task is setting
it up. That can often be a difficult task as well. If can be enough to convince any parent to not
bother with the struggle and just stay home. Lightweight... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following are some of the factors to look at during your search for a new lightweight stroller.
Type There are two types of lightweight strollers, so your first consideration should be which
one of these two will best fit your needs. The most common type of lightweight stroller is the
umbrella stroller. This type of stroller is typically the one parents envision when they consider a
second stroller that is compact enough to take on the go. This type of stroller is generally basic
and does not include any extras that are common on full sized strollers. The other type of
lightweight stroller is a bit bigger than an umbrella stroller but not as big as a standard stroller.
This type of lightweight stroller generally is more comfortable and has a few conveniences such
as under seat storage and larger sunshades. Budget As with most items you buy, price is always a
consideration. Lightweight strollers have a wide price range, depending on the features you are
looking for. It is not hard to find a lightweight stroller to fit any budget, and it is equally as easy
to find one that will break your bank account. So, it is a good idea to set your budget before you
start looking for a stroller so you can easily eliminate some choices right off the bat. Durability
Just as lightweight strollers come in a variety of price ranges, they also vary in their durability.
Before you purchase a

Sparkly Tutu Essay A Girl in a Sparkly Tutu When I grow up I am going to be a ballerina, truck driver, who rides a motorcycle, shouted the small girl in a bright pink tutu under the scorching lights at her Kindergarten graduation. I was this small girl and I have always been the child who wanted to break away from the pack and be different from everyone else. I may no longer wantto be a ballerina, for I realized my hatred for itchy tights, or a truck driver, I am unable to sit for that long, but I still seem to dream big and stand out. Oskar Schindler was an entrepreneur who sacrificed himself for a cause he believed was unjust. He spent most of his life around Germany in Europe. During the Holocaust, he saved over 1,200 people from the gas chambers. There are some people who don t think of him as a hero, but as a man looking to make an easy dollar. In my opinion Oskar Schindlerwas a hero of the highest class and deserves all the credit he received for his actions. When Oskar was born in 1908, no one could ve guessed he would have such an impact on the world. When Oskar was a young boy, he adored his father and strived to be like him. His Father and Mother were both German, even though he was born in Zwittau, Hungary. His Father, Johann, owned a farm machinery business that Oskar eventually worked at. He had one sister, named Elfriede, who was seven years younger than him. After Oskar attended primary and secondary school, he enrolled in a technical school. He was expelled from the school in 1924 for forging his report card. After later graduating from a different school, he worked for his father for several years. • 7. Justification Is Defined As An Act Essay Justification is defined as an act in which God declares all those who accept Him as their personal savior as being righteous and the penalty of sin is removed from their lives by Him. God removes a person who has faith in Him from a state of sin to a state of righteousness. It is stated in the book of Corinthians 5:21 that, For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. The term is derived from the Greek word dikaiosis which is a legal term that means to make a person righteous . The council of Trent, view justification as a change in a person from being a child of Adam to being adopted by grace, to be among the heirs of God through the second Adam who is JesusChrist (Denzinger, 1524 pg 115). In the New Testament, Paul declares that the law and prophets in the Old Testament are witnesses to how God s is right in justifying those who are righteous at heart. In saying so, Paul declared that justification is an aspect that is clearly visible in the Old Testament. Although justification is not brought out as a subject in the bible, its mention or aspect in the biblical account serves as evidence of God s purpose for His people. (Surburg 129) Two aspects constitute Justification include the human sinful ways and their divine grace found in them. The two are evidenced ever since creation of man in the book of genesis took place. This biblical account of creation states that upon completion of the universe, in the ... In this lab, lab 4.3 Comparing the Concentrations of Saturated Solutions, we set out to find and compare the solubilities of two solids in water. In addition, we tested if solubility is a characteristic property of a solid in a given liquid. This lab allowed us to test and use a reliable way to measure the solubility of a solid. This lab can be replicated for any solid with the same procedure, thus it gives us a method to calculate solubility. The two solids we tested in this experiment were NaCl (Sodium Chloride) and NaNO3 (Sodium Nitrate). To begin the experiment, we measured 5cc of water and 5g of NaCl and added them to a test tube. Next, we stoppered the test tube and shook vigorously for two or three minutes. After we observed that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Six of the ten sodium chloride groups found the solubility of sodium chloride to be statistically 36g /100cc of water, with a +3g/100cc margin of error. Three of the four groups outside this margin of error had solubilities in the forties, 42, 48, 49g/100cc. These three groups made an experimental error that altered their results and can be excluded from our analysis of data. Another group was in the low thirties with 30g/100cc. Yet the beginning masses that compose the solubility equations do differ. For example, one group found that the mass of their solution was 4.21 grams, but another recorded a mass of 5.47 grams. When it comes to the mass of the solid (solute) the former recorded a mass of 1.11 grams, the latter reported a mass of 1.38 grams. Nonetheless, they came out with the same solubility of 34 grams per 100 cc of water. Thus we can prove that that solubility is a characteristic property. This is because every group started with a different mass of solution and solid, but they concluded with the same solubility (given the +3 gram margin of error and excluding outliers) or were close. Therefore, solubility is a characteristic property. Of the eight sodium nitrate groups three of them found statistically, with a +3g margin of error, 86g/100cc as the solubility of sodium nitrate in water. Another group calculated the solubility to be 82, which is just below the margin of error. Two of the eight groups ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As airing prominent speeches made by powerful political figures can get one simple idea of justice to more than half the nation as it stands, it can create a strained society in which one will seem to manipulate the others aspect of just, and in return will call for protests. This is interesting to me because over a week ago, at the local county fair in my hometown, I happened to see this concept be used in action with a cousin of mine that happened to be two years old. While at a family gathering at the fair, I witnessed the father of my little cousin hide a ball behind his back that the child had just had in his hands. When this was done, the child had no idea that there even was a ball anymore. At the time, I had thought nothing of the situation. As one of the Noble Truths proclaimed by Buddha, the middle path encounters the seven sorrowful experiences as a part of every life, but how to accept and move past these pains are truly what matters. Unlike Judaic religions where the main truth in their world is to repent for a sin that is proposed to exist even before you re born, Buddha declares that it is in the everyday life that we must overcome the distress of craving that which we do not own. To add to the distress given through life itself, we must also realize and accept that the self or the core essence that we think we know of today, is in fact not true. Our self or as some say, our soul is not a constant nor is it permanent. Again, Buddha claims that life is in fact substanceless where what most would call a soul is not something that is permanent that we cannot have complete control over. Since the self is not eternal, we must let go of such an idea and not base any way of life based on the self and focus more on a means of releasing that stagnant thoughts that we must find our own sense of self. The problem describes a situation in which a trolley car is moving quickly and out of control on a train track towards five people who are tied to the tracks; you have the power to pull a lever, change the direction of the trolley car and save those five people at the expense of the life of one person who is on the track the car was diverted to (Thomson 1397). The choice to be made is not just about whether or not one should pull the lever though. The problem dictates a choice about whether one would kill, in the case of choosing to pull the lever to kill the one person and save the five, or letting die, in which case nothing is done and the five are killed because of the lack of action taken (Thomson 1398). Thomson believes it would be incorrect to turn the trolley and willingly choose to kill one person, rather than allow the five to die, but the philosophies of Immanuel Kantand John Stewart Mill must be analyzed to determine whether they would agree with Thomson, or have a different view from Thomson as well as one another. When considering J.J. While the domination of trade created a general feeling of envy towards the South Asians, it was the illicit and corrupt actions of a few that led to the creation of an Asian stereotype, which contributed greatly to the acrimonious race relations throughout the period. When these incidences occurred, stories of them were spread around and embellished through word of mouth, the media, and the African government, which caused a general distrust of Asians amongst the indigenous population. • 45. What Are The Similarities Between Lying And Bullshit One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. (Frankfurt). This statement truly defines the current situation of our life. I have developed a decent interest in this topic because we are surrounded by it and the majority of people don t recognize it. There have been a lot of difficulties in understanding this topic as there are no particular theory has been given to this topic. According to Frankfurt bullshitis unavoidable at conditions in which we expect somebody to talk without recognizing what he is discussing. Therefore, the production of bullshit is based on the opportunities that an individual have to express more on a particular topic than his knowledge on the particular topic. We are going to talk about the similarities and differences between lying and bullshit. We will also discuss that which one is more harmful to the society and why, we are also going to discuss about some of the questions that are related to bullshitting in our life and discuss why we are not doing anything about it or it is just a human tendency. Lying is the practice of communicating lies and there are many similarities between lying and bullshit. First the main aim of liars and bullshitters are that they both want the other person to believe that they are telling the truth. Secondly they both want to get away with the situation which led them to tell a lie or bullshit. But there is a great difference between lying and bullshitting. The liar has an ... • 46. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electronic Medical Records Electronic medical record (EMR) can be defined as an electronic record of health related information on an individual that can be created, gathered, managed, and consulted by authorized clinicians and staff within one health care organization. There are two advantages and two issues of EMR in Malaysian Government Hospital that I will discuss in this paper. The using of EMR in Malaysian Government Hospital was enabling quick access to patient records for more coordinated and efficient care. The medical record officer can access the patient information within a short time, and it more save time if compared with searching the file record of staff at the shelf. Enabling quick access also referred to the benefit of EMR system that sharing a database system, whereas the medical record officer or doctor can use the system... The characteristics of electronic record that easy to modified and changed might cast doubt on the court this is because if some data has been changed even for correction there are no trace that showing the error was corrected, it different with a paper records, a simple line crossing out the incorrect information will notify the reader that a change has been made. Moreover, usually using EMR especially for conversion process, the original documents are scanned into a system and then will shred or destroyed, these process might give a problem because some paper documentation is illegible, but once the originals are destroyed there is no way to recover the data. So, to overcome this issue, medical record officer must not too hasty in the destruction of the original documents, they also should not destroy specific stored information that it is required to preserve. Not only that, they also should always keep the original document as a backup, and use EMR only for a quick access purpose rather that concern it as a system that can save a ... • 47. Evaluate the Effectiveness of Lay People in the Courts Throughout this section of my assignment I will evaluate the effectiveness of Lay people within the courts. Throughout the United Kingdom Lay Magistrates are used within our courts and legal system in relation to sentencing criminals. They work within the Magistrates court dealing with summary offences, triable either way offences and they also deal with starting off indictable offences which will then be sentenced in the Crown Court. Lay Magistrates come from local areas and when appearing at a court they would usually gather three Lay Magistrates. This is in order for the Lay Magistrates to come together in relation to making a final decision, towards making their final decision they are able to receive guidance from the court clerk... These individuals do not have the qualifications in which other magistrates have which will require lay magistrates to receive basic training in order to process making decisions towards sentences. With their lack of knowledge this may result in Lenient sentences given Sentences not stable Relying on the court clerk Inconsistent sentences Longer to analyse cases and come to a decision Inconsistency in sentencing is due to the lack of knowledge in which lay magistrates obtain and this creates a negative effect towards the court system. If sentences are inconsistent this means that the role of courts is not being completed effectively as they should be. Lay magistrates who are faced with offences may come to final decisions towards sentences which may not be acceptable, if an individual commits an offence they must receive a sentence which is a punishment towards their behaviour however with the lack of knowledge which the lay magistrate has, sentences may be inconsistent. Another aspect involving a lack of knowledge which affects the court system negatively due to lay magistrates is sentences being too light in comparison to the offence. Within the magistrates court they deal with summary offences and triable either way offences in which they must work towards coming to an acceptable sentence, if a lay magistrates has a lack of experience comparing to the experience which qualified magistrates have this will result in sentences given being too lenient. ... • 48. Jaws Response Paper. Throughout Steven Spielberg’S Jaws Jaws Response Paper Throughout Steven Spielberg s Jaws social class and wealth play a large role in character development as well as story progression. As seen from the beginning, the town of Amity is the hotspot for vacationers and in most cases, those of higher economic status. A stark difference can be seen between the status of islanders (those who live in Amity) versus those who only come to vacation, such as between Sheriff Brody and Dr. Hooper. Money and stature are also key throughout the film as a motivator for several of the film s characters, specifically Mayor Larry Vaughn, Quint and Dr. Hooper to drive their major decisions. In the very beginning of the film we are shown a group of teenagers having a bonfire on the beach and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to the first incident the townspeople are now immediately swarming over the attack and searching for answers. Mrs. Kinter, in her desperation for justice, even goes as far as blaming Brody (again a non islander) for her son s death rather than Mayor Vaughn who had been the real culprit behind keeping the beaches open. She also enables two more examples of money and status driven character development by offering a cash reward to anyone that can catch and kill the shark that attacked her son. The character most obviously driven by financial gain is the fisherman Quint who at the town meeting immediately following the attack on Alex Kintner explains that he will bring in the shark for $10,000 instead of the $3,000 offered by Mrs. Kintner. Just as Mayor Vaughn seeks to capitalize on the summertime and tourists, Quint is interested in his own financial gain rather than the safety and wellbeing of the town. Dr. Hooper, as Mayor Vaughn points out, is also likely motivated by money and stature related to finding and killing the monstrous shark. While trying to explain how big and dangerous the shark really is, Mayor Vaughn criticizes Hooper for only wanting to get fame and fortune by having his name in a National Geographic magazine. Although he insists that he is strictly interested in the science behind the beast and protecting the people of Amity the act of discovery often can harbor monetary and status related gain. As a researcher, Hooper fully ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
