Life in the Ottawa tribe
The Ottawa tribe and culture of the tribe is eminently fascinating and beautiful. The Ottawa tribe has a
great deal of history behind it. The name Ottawa is originally spelled Odawa in their native language.
The language that they speak is mostly English, but their native language is Ojibwa, which is related
to Anishinaabe language. The tribe s original homeland, according to bigorrin.org, is mostly in
southern Ontario in Canada, which is where the name of Ottawa or Odawa came from, and Michigan.
There are multiple Ottawa tribes, but there is one here in Manistee, Michigan, they are the Little River
Band of Ottawa Indians. There is a legion amount of people that are in the Little River Band that are
exceedingly close to me. The Little River Band is full and rich in culture. The Little River Band of
Ottawa Indians, a Michigan tribe that has survived to the present day despite the expansionist and
assimilationist policies that nearly robbed it of its identity in the late nineteenth century , explained
James McClurken who published the book Our People, Our Journey . He then explains that they Little
River Band was forced onto a reservation on the Pere Marquette and Manistee Rivers in 1858. The
tribe was getting pushed and shoved around for countless years and their culture was disintegrating. In
fact, my boyfriend, Andrew, his grandmother, Margaret Chandler, was a strong and tough working
representative that helped and pushed the people of their tribe for over

How Water Shortages Caused The Future Can Produce...
The focus of this essay is how water shortages in the future can produce worldwide food shortages.
Only if we act to improve water use in agriculture will we meet the acute freshwater challenges facing
humankind over the coming 50 years [4]. As the world changes over the next fifty years, the water
struggles that we endure will be seen in the food production around the world. There are many factors
that contribute to this occurring, including global climate change, the increase in water security
vulnerability, and the phenomenon that the world has hit peak water. The world s population has also
changed their average diet over the past 50 years, to consuming more meat and more calories in
general [4]. This dietary change means that each person requires more water to produce their food
than in previous generations. In the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) countries as much as
50% of their food is imported [1]. These countries are currently seeing the troubles of not having
enough water to grow and supply them with enough food. In the future other regions of the world may
become less inclined to trade with the MENA countries, because their own countries are consuming
all of their food. The region has suffered from a decline in water availability which is only projected to
decline even further in the next few decades [1]. The struggles of this region could be a preview for
many other regions around the world if the water shortages continue as projected. By

Different Forms Of Division Of Labor By Emile Durkheim
Emile Durkheim, born in 1858 was an eminent proponent of Sociology from France, considered to be
one of the greatest in his field alongside Karl Marx and Max Weber. Durkheim aimed to study society
taking an evolutionary approach, keeping in mind that society is composed of individuals. However, it
was not essentially the aggregate sum of each individual s behavior, actions and thoughts. Durkheim
endeavored to understand transformation of society, from traditional to modern, where solidarity
changes from mechanical to organic because of the phenomenon of division of labour . In this essay I
will aim to explain first, how organic solidarity came to existence because of increasing division of
labour in society. To begin with I will take a peek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the same standards it also contains fallacies which limit its appeal in contemporary world. Firstly,
Durkheim s account of organic solidarity seems positivist in that the division of labor does not have
negative effects at all. With great convenience Durkheim propagates the conditions responsible for
smooth functioning of organized societies in some idyllic place. To elaborate more on this point, the
society does not have the self regulating quality as implied by organic solidarity. Durkheim s principle
assumption was that collective conscience and individual conscience coupled with the State would
lead to organic solidarity. Although Durkheim tries to take account of this nature of society through
anomic division of labor yet his viewpoint on evils of unregulated capitalism, commercial and
industrial crises, class conflict, meaninglessness, alienated labor etc. was very uncritical in nature.
This observation was further strengthened when in his later works he gradually parted away with
evolutionary optimism which underpinned the mechanical, self regulating conception of division of
labor. Secondly, Durkheim does not seem to be concerned about the ill effects of division of labor . On
one hand mutual interdependence creates solidarity which holds together societies, on the other in
modern societies one is not able to sustain without depending

Explain How Far Nelsons Fits into the Overall Development...
If we look at Nelsons Industry and work, its evidence is similar to other Northern parts of Britain
because it teaches us that Nelson changed from being very rural to an industrialised area. Farm lands
were replaced by factories. This is typical to what happened in other textile towns. This is reinforced
by source N. The two maps show us the difference that occurred in 57 years. It shows the 1844
version and 1901 version of Nelson. In 1844 we can see that most of the area was of rural life and
poorly populated however 57 years later it shows us a much more industrialised version with very
crowded areas. A number of Textile Factories were built, which lead people migrating from other
towns to find work.
Mills were intentionally built ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Source L signifies that there was no age limit for people to start working. Usually a family works
together...father, mother, sons and daughters . Many children started work at the age of 5. Some
children were even set out to carry out very inappropriate jobs, such as picking up pieces of left over
cotton from under working machines. It shows that employees are happy working together and no
harm has been caused towards them. This is very dangerous and would result in causing major injury.
However this source has been written by William Ecroyd the founder of the Ecroyd factory. We cannot
trust this source to a great extent because Ecroyd may just want to give his mill a good name and may
be mendacious about what he is writing.
After World War II Britain could no longer afford the expense of administering one quarter of the
world s population, it wanted to protect its own land which comprised 1/600th area of World , the
current UK [7]. In the mid 1900 s, Britain lost its empire. This meant that Britain could no longer
trade with the other countries they had power over. Therefore a huge majority of mills, weaving sheds,
coal mines and factories had closed down due to government regulations. Britain stopped exporting
and importing goods and this directed to a lot of people not having employment. This then gave way
to China, Russia and the USA to embark upon the golden opportunity and take over.

The Effects Of Discrimination On International Students
The Effect of Discrimination on International Students
According to Institute of International Education organization, The United States hosts more of the
world s 4.5 million globally mobile college and university students than any other country in the
world, almost double the number hosted by the United Kingdom, the second leading host country .
Hosting millions of international students who were in The United States in 2015. However,
international students faced many challenges when they arrive in The U.S., such as language, culture,
and unequal treatment due to as racism. Because international students faced discrimination, that has a
negative effect on their psychological.
In the United States universities, Asian international students faced discrimination by the policy of
universities. In some American university, international students treated differently than American
students. According to Rhonda Sutton of North Carolina State University mentioned in his article that
at NC State University international student worked more hours than an American student for the
same pay. Another problem was NC State university housing do not consider that international
students cannot offer hotel room or go back to their countries or have someone off campus to stay with
him when they close residence halls. This shows there is some university do not have rule include the
international students as part of their society. Also, international students have complained about the

This Blessed House Analysis
Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of many
stories in her Pulitzer Prize winning collection Interpreter of Maladies and follows a newlywed Indian
American couple, Sanjeev and Twinkle, settling into their first suburban home together. As Twinkle
begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house, Sanjeev wants to throw them
all away, underscoring that Sanjeev deeply cares about how they will look if they display these
Christian symbols as Hindus, while Twinkle simply wants to have fun in presenting her discoveries.
More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to look good in front of his coworkers; he
does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is supposed to show off in an upcoming
housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with
his mother put these three variables of work, spouse, and home together as a formula, when she says
that because he has enough money in the bank, he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his
money is supposed to go toward raising a family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of
success, and despite it not making him truly happy, his continual pursuit of it emphasizes that he is
attempting to perform a fixed role that he does not fit into well. Sanjeev s actions and mentality in

Polysar Limited recent assignment.
BACKGROUND
Rubber Group is the largest of the three operating units of Polysar Limited. The primary users of its
products, such as butyl and halobutyl, are manufacturers of automobile tires; other users are from
various industries. In 1986, Rubber group contributed 0.8 billion which is 46 percent of the company
annual sale. The operation of the group is divided into four divisions, NASA (North America and
South America) and EROW (Europe and rest of the world), Research department and Global
Marketing department. NASA and EROW operate as profit centers each produce butyl and halobutyl
dedicated to regional customers. Both of the centers have relatively flexible producing schedule to

The calculation of the two variances started with the standard fixed cost per tonne which was derived
by following formula:
Standard fixed cost/tonne
=Estimated annual total fixed cost /Annual demonstrated plant capacity
This year, the NASA Rubber s estimated annual total fixed cost was 44,625,000, and the annual
demonstrated plant capacity was 85000tonnes. Thus, the standard fixed cost per tonne for 1986 was
525/tonne.
Then, spending variance was calculated by,
Spending Variance=Actual fixed cost Standard fixed cost
Actual fixed cost/tonne=Actual annual total fixed cost /Annual demonstrated capacity
NASA had a favourable spending variance of 498thousand this year which means they spend
498thousand less than budgeted. The actual fixed cost per unit was around 519/tonne.
Volume variance was calculated by,
Volume variance=
(Standard fixed cost/tonne) x ([Actual production] [Demonstrated capacity])
NASA had an unfavourable volume variance of 11.4million which was 5million higher than expected.
As shown above, volume variance was derived by multiplying standard fixed cost/tonne with the
difference between actual production and standard production.
By reorganizing the formula, it became:
Volume Variance=
Standard fixed cost/tonne x Annual total production Estimated annual total fixed cost
Simply speaking, the variance measures the amount of designated

What Is Hockey In Latin America
Hockey in Latin America; the two concepts are not usually associated with each other, but hockey is a
somewhat popular sport with local children and families. Hockey is not a recent addition to the sports
industry in Latin America. While Latin America is not a region well known for its hockey games,
hockey is a sport that is gaining popularity with local families and children. The Falkland Islands, with
a population of 2932 people according to the Hockey House in 2015, is the smallest hockey nation in
the world. In a country lacking even one ice rink to practice on, the Falkland Islands hockey team has
made history by winning their first game to ever play despite never playing or practicing on the ice
before. The Falkland Islands plans on sending some players to Chile twice a year to practice hockey in
an arena until the Falkland Islands are able to build an ice rink. Unlike the Falkland Islands, which
lacks an ice rink and is somewhat new to the sport, the Puerto Rican Ice Hockey Federation was
founded in 2004, but hockey has been in the country for a few more years than that. Around 40 years
ago, Puerto Rico had an ice rink known as the Reina de Heilo in San Juan. Unfortunately, the Reina de

College Narrative
It was roughly five fifteen in the morning when the sun began to crest its golden crown over the
awakening Hudson River and the far off New Jersey Palisades. A starless night sky seemed
deliberately transformed with pink, orange, purple and red gauzy stripes, casting a warm wash over
the sleeping earth. I gazed skyward as I stood near the medieval bell tower at the Cloisters, and my
eyes reflected the awe inspiring beauty. That dawn was one of many, when I found myself tramping
deliberately up the forested hills of Fort Tryon Park. As I stood at the summit, I inhaled the sanctity of
my surroundings and felt my soul being cleansed by the peaceful soundscape. Gazing at the vast
canvas that was the sky, the predictable chimes of the church bells ... Show more content on

Application Of Advanced High Strength Dual Phase Essay
Introduction
Reducing the fuel consumption and as a result reducing the amount of emissions which is achieved by
car weight reduction and besides passenger safety and crashworthiness improvement via mechanical
energy absorption are the main goals of car manufactures. Application of advanced high strength dual
phase (DP) steels is being considered as one of the efficient ways to obtain the above mentioned goals
[1 3]. (DP) steels have attracted considerable attention in the automotive industry due to favorable
combination formability, work hardening, ductility and high strength to weight ratio [4]. The
mentioned features is resulted from the unit microstructure of the DP steels. DP steels despite their
name consist of three or more phases including ferrite, martensite, banite, retained austenite and
pearlite. The Matrix in DP steels is soft ferrite and the strengthening phase is martensite. In some cases
banite and retained austenite also contribute to strengthening. Ferrite enables low initial yielding stress
and martensite enables the high ultimate tensile strength (UTS). The above characteristics make the
DP steels ideal alloy systems for automotive sheet forming operations [5].
Phase fractions and their interfaces and morphology have a great influence on strength and ductility of
DP steels.[6] yield and tensile strength of DP steel can significantly improved by microstructural
refinement without losing the uniform elongation and fracture strain which will result in

Water Transportation in the Jacksonian Era Essay
Water Transportation in the Jacksonian Era Water travel assisted heavily with transportation of goods
and people from the American north east to the west, which would eventually create a separation from
the south.
Before any canals were even built, there was a great demand for better transportation to and from the
west. During this time of exploration, something was necessary in order for settlement to progress.
After the canals were built, people living in to north grew exceedingly wealthy from the trading
benefits of the canals. This wealth would eventually create economic differences with the southern
United States(Drago 178).

In fact there was such a profit from the Erie Canal in NYC that tolls were repealed during 1883(Erie).
The canal cut traveling rates from Buffalo, New York, and New York City by more than 90%. This
changed the entire economic make up of the U.S., as well as gave exploration and travel a helping
hand.
Secondly, the C O canal had many different developments in the period following it s completion.
However these developments were not nearly as good. The contractors, and engineers proved that they
could not correctly build the canal, as they did not finish in the predicted time(Bourne). The C O canal
was not a financial success, and there were no economically enriched areas as there were with the Erie
Canal. By the late 1870s, the canal had passed it s peak of prosperity, and by 1881, it could not be
stopped(Drago 71). However, the social effects were in some cases larger than the economic effects.
Culture in the C O are was heavily enriched by boatmen and other workers on the canal route. These
boatmen could tell people many things about what was going on in other parts of the state, assisting
with communication of these people. However there was a downside to these effects, as many
minorities were badly hurt by the construction. The Iroquois Indian Tribe was nearly destroyed by the

Motorcycle Jacket Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction
If you have any prior experience with motorcycle protective gear, you are no doubt aware (painfully
so) that it can be quite expensive. A full set of protective equipment can set you back up to, and in
some cases beyond, $1000. Much of that outrageous price can be traced back to the motorcycle jacket,
which is an essential component of any collection of motorcycle equipment.
Quality motorcycle jackets tend to go for a couple of hundred dollars and it is extremely rare to find
one which sells for less than three figures. Because of this, the last thing you want to do is spend
money on multiple jackets to keep yourself safe all year round. Of course, you can t wear a jacket that

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
RGGI Overview
The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is a cap and trade initiative set to regulate and reduce
the emissions of greenhouse gases from power generating facilities with an electrical capacity equal or
greater than 25 electrical megawatts (RGGI, 2015). The drafting of this initiative started in 2003 when
Connecticut (CT), Delaware (DE), Maine (ME), Massachusetts (MA), New Hampshire (NH), New
Jersey (NJ), New York (NY), Rhode Island (RI), and Vermont (VT) showed interest in reviewing
greenhouse gas emissions and a cap trade coalition to address the emission from power plants in their
territory. In 2005, the above mentioned states with the exception of RI and MA signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) that outlined the model rules for the program. Some of the topics outlined in
RGGI Model Rule include: the responsibilities of the account representatives, permitting
recommendations, monitoring requirements, compliance certification reports, control periods and
others. The Model Rules were also the building blocks used to develop state specific regulations
supporting the goals and actions necessary to succeed as a member. In 2007 MA, RI and MD also
signed the MOU (RGGI, 2015a; RGGI, 2015b). On January 1, 2012, RGGI lost one of its founding
members after the governor of NJ; Chris Christie withdrew NJ s support to the initiative. Throughout
its participation, NJ received over $100 million in revenues directly from the RGGI markets. (Christie,

Joan Of Arc Leadership
Leaders Joan of arc where, and with whom did this this person show leadership?
Joan of arc was nicknamed The Maid of Orléans ,is considered a heroine of France for her role during
the Lancastrian phase of the Hundred years war, and was canonized as a roman saint. When Joan of
Arc was 12 she began hearing some voices. She believed they where from god. They were telling her
to disguise herself as a man and join the French army and fight. At first she was afraid, but she did
what she was told to, because she was loyal to God and she knew it was him speaking. She is known
best for leading the French against the English in the 100 year war. The war took place in France. Joan
of arc led the French army to victory over the English at Orléans.
What was the source of this person s power? How did this person achieve power? How did this person
use their power?
She led the French army, so the power was from the army. She used this power to lead the French
army to victory in 1453. The Hundred Years War was a long struggle between England and France
over succession to the French throne. It lasted from 1337 to 1453, so it might more accurately be

Legalizing Marijuana Will Decreased Crime Essay
Marijuana is the cause of much commotion and debating, as the question of legalization becomes

is an option that has not had a chance, but really should be given one. Although many people feel that
legalizing marijuana would increase the amount of drug use, legalization would benefit for the
following reasons: 1)reduction of money spent on law enforcement 2)increase in the countries revenue
3)lessen crime 4)useful in treating certain medical conditions.

Since 1982, there has been a 160 increase in inmate population. One can only imagine what that
number is today. Most of this increase is attributed to drug violators, such as marijuana dealers and
buyers. Sadly, this number will only continue to rise (Potter 1998).
1991 was the most murderous year in the United States since 1972, and police estimated that forty
percent of these homicides were drug related (Potter 1998). Legalizing hemp and other drugs would

the dealer would be eliminated and therefore crime would be reduced.
Legalizing drugs would also increase countries revenue. During prohibition, alcohol use was still
rampant. People were still drinking, only because it was illegal. In the US, the 21st amendment
annulled prohibition and alcohol taxes were increased. The same thing should be done with marijuana
and other illegal drugs today. The drugs should be heavily taxed to increase revenue. The drugs could

South Carolina State Flag Essay
The history and culture of the state flag The south and especially the state of South Carolina is a place
where tradition and heritage is almost as important as the people that live in it. It is these cultural
inclinations that bring certain groups together. And for this reason the South Carolina state flag is a
symbol that represents the long lasting history that this state is known for. A lot of stress has been
brought to South Carolina about its flags and its history, but history is exactly what it is. The symbolic
meaning behind this flag brings a sense of state pride and cultural awareness as it is extremely
important to understand where you came from to figure out where you will be going. Seeing that the

The first state flag was actually shown and presented by South Carolina stamp act protesters in 1765.
The banner that the protesters displayed did indeed have not one but three white crescents on a blue
background. Colonel William Moultrie in 1775 was asked by the South Carolina voters to design a
banner for the use of South Carolina State Troops. Moultrie decided to approach the flag with a
simplistic and direct design that displayed the crescent on a blue field. The new flag was the same blue
color of the soldier s uniforms and the silver crescent was the symbol that the soldiers wore on the
front of their caps. The crescent moon was not the only form of symbolism used for the state flag also
the flag has a palmetto tree, which is to high importance and relevance to the state of South Carolina.
The Palmetto tree, which is the South Carolina State Tree, was added because of the use it had in the
defense of Sullivan s Island against an attack in 1776 during the American Revolution. British ships
were not able to take down the walls of the fort which were built by Palmetto logs. The cannonballs
would eventually have no effect on the fort because the soft palmetto tree would absorb the impact of
the shock given by the cannonball and simply fall of. The trees were a huge factor in the winning of

Criminal Sentencing
Criminal Sentencing Decisions within the American Judicial System
Abstract
A major issue in criminal justice is sentencing. America s court system has struggled to balance
competing goals and policies in regards to criminal sentencing. This paper explores the ideas behind
changes made to the sentencing policies with the United States judicial system. It begins with an
overview of the goals behind criminal sentencing. This paper concludes with a discussion on the
current status and disparities involving criminal sentencing.
Criminal Sentencing
In The Limits of Criminal Sanction, Herbert Packer said that criminal punishment should serve two
purposes; deserved infliction of suffering on evil doers and the prevention of crime ... Show more

Incapacitation is another goal behind criminal sentencing. The idea is simple. By incapacitating
someone (keeping them in prison) they will no longer be able to commit crimes against society. Long
prison sentences are not the only means of incapacitating someone. Incapacitation looks at reducing
the offender s ability and opportunity to commit future crimes. This can be done through intensive
supervision, electronic monitoring, and even the requirement to register as a sex offender can be seen
as incapacitating. Incapacitation assumes that most criminals will continue to commit crimes if they
are not restrained.
Another goal of criminal sentencing is to rehabilitate. Rehabilitation is a programmed effort to alter
the attitudes and behaviors of inmates and improve their likelihood of becoming law abiding citizens
(Seiter, 2008, p. 32). Rehabilitation assumes that criminals have underlying problems that are the
cause of their criminality and that if these causes are treated, the offender can return to society and
possibly provide some type of restitution for the victims of their crimes.
Restitution is also a goal of criminal sentencing. Many sentences with or without confinement also
involve some type of compensation, either in fines paid to the government or in damages paid to the

The Return of Martin Guerre is a version of story which was presented in a book version and a film

The Squat Oinochoe
The Squat Oinochoe was found in Corinth, Greece. It is believed that it was made around 590 570
BCE which places this piece of pottery in the Archaic Period of Greece. When it was discovered in
Corinth, it was obvious it was influenced greatly due to the cultural interactions between the Aegean
and the eastern Mediterranean regions during the eighth and seventh centuries BCE. The vase has feral
goats, panthers, creatures, and oriental styled floral motifs on the body and shoulder of the vase. This
style of vase is known as Oinochoe in Greek it is split up into two words oinos meaning wine, and
cheo meaning I pour2. These types of vessels are usually single handled, and usually taller than its
width.2 They were used to pour and hold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This vessel is going against the usual Oinochoe from the time, because it has a short shoulder and
body, while being wide at the same time with a broad almost none existent foot. The paintings on the
base and shoulder are broken up into registers which can trace back to Mesopotamian culture and
Egyptian society as well. Both registers on the shoulder and body depict two dimensional figures
along side with oriental flowers. In both registers, there is an animal depicted, which is a panther. The
panther is one of the forms that Dionysus the god of wine, agriculture, and fertility of nature takes
on.3 The panther on this Oinochoe leads us to believe it represents Dionysus because he is the god of
wine, and this particular vessel was used for wine. Another figure on the vase is a winged figure,
however that part of the vase has faded to the point where it cannot be analyzed or examined. What
can be seen however are lions, which at the time in ancient Greece showed wealth and power and can
often be found in many Greek myths. Lions during this time are depicted roaring with their mouths
open and their body flexing and tall, poised to show power and authority. The registers may have the
same animals and creatures on them; however the register on the body of the vase has more of the
animals. The final animal that is depicted is a feral goat, the only way it can described and identified
as feral, is because it is grazing where the lions and bird like

The Massacre At Nanjing
Historical Idea: The Japanese were particularly brutal because they saw the Chinese as an inferior
race.
A topic of debate in recent history is the reasoning behind the Japanese overly brutal violence towards
the Chinese during the massacre at Nanjing. The prevailing theory is that the Japanese saw the
Chinese as an inferior race, or Chancorro (sub human) thus, killing Chinese held no great significance.
Chinese soldiers were not the only targets for the brutality, innocent Chinese citizens were treated with
the same violence. Chinese men were used for bayonet practice, as well as in decapitation contests ,
and an estimated 20,000 80,000 Chinese women were raped. Other examples of brutality include live

Why Accounting Is Basically A Language And Information...
Without accountancy businesses would find it hard to function Accounting Introduction Accounting is
basically a language: a language that provides knowledge and information about the financial position
of an organization. When we study accounting we are basically learning this expert language. By
learning this language we can analyse and understand the financial operations of any and all forms of
organizations. The accounting information be broken down into three core categories: Operating

accounting information which is needed by the organization itself to conduct its business such as
paying the employees, tracking sales or payments from existing debtors and also information
regarding payments to creditors. The operating information is basically related to the working capital

Why Did Macduff Destroy Macbeth
In Macbeth, Act 4: 2, we can see that Macbeth has reached a point in his life where he will do
anything and kill anyone to ensure his stature in the kingdom is protected. We analyzed this when he
first murdered King Duncan and then had Banquo, his best friend, assassinated. With his constant
homicides come sleepless nights and hallucinations of ghosts. Eventually, his wife goes crazy because
of her guilty conscience of provoking her husband into committing the murders, and dies right before
the battle between Macbeth and Macduff occurs. One chief motive behind Macduff s purpose to
destroy Macbeth is what act 4: 2 is about. Macbeth has Macduff s family, and all who were in his

Unit 2 : Assessment Mackenzie Robinson The book I read for this unit was 13 Reasons Why by Jay

her thought of suicide, she made the choice to make cassette tapes. Seven of them all but the seventh

Analysis Of Raising The Flag On Iwo Jima
First, there is hidding meaning in terms of iconographical layer in both of the two pictures. Raising the
Flag on Iwo Jima is a picture released on 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It is portraying about five a United
States Navy and United States Marines corpsman raising an U.S. flag at the top of Suribachi Mount,
after the Battle on Iwo Jima island during World War II. The photograph was very famous and
popular, to the extent that it had being reprinted thousand times in that period of time. The five
soldiers in the picture is representing the American navy who engaged in the war against Japan taking
place in the Iwo Jima an island in Pacific Ocean which is referring to the bundle of land the soldiers
are standing on. The scene about five soldiers climbing a hill raising the American Flag, amidst rubble
is here the signifier, which implied the secondary level of meaning. For the meaning being signified is
the strength and power of these soldiers to climb to the top and represent pride for their country (by
raising the flag over Iwo Jima, it can reflect American s victory and s of the war). And more
importantly, there are also a myth conveyed implicitly by this picture. The myth in this picture seems
to be in this way: America is a powerful leading international nation that can defeat all the enemies
who try to turn againt her.

The Analytical Versus Holistic Approach Of Leadership Essay
Overview
In general, we are familiar with the quote managers do things right while leaders do the right things.
In essence, the analytical versus the holistic approach of leadership addresses these two separate and
distinct functions within an organization. For instance, a manager focuses on the daily operations of an
organization with an emphasis on team delivery, budgeting, and supervising the employees.
Contrarily, leaders within an organization focus their time on improvements and innovation. In
particular, leaders can perform this function since they are not responsible for running the team and
mired up in minutia. As a result, there is a misnomer that managers are leaders and leaders remain
managers, but they are not exclusive. Therefore, being a manager and a leader requires different
abilities and dispositions.
With this in mind, management entails having the skills to plan, delegate, communicate, and
motivation. An individual with the administrative skills may focus on the daily operations of an
organization with an emphasis on team delivery, budgeting, and supervising the employees. Moreover,
managers are working on organizational efficiency, speeding up the operation to cut costs and
increasing productivity, and enforcing the rules and procedures. By having the proper leadership traits,
managers can conceive the right decisions and accomplish these goals. As an illustration, consider a
manager working on a budget, yet lacks the leadership characteristic

A Study On Sandwich Panels
1. Introduction
Sandwich panels has been widely used in different kinds of constructions nowadays, though sandwich
technology was confined almost entirely in aerospace applications before 1960s. From that time, their
characteristics such as high strength to weight ratio and energy efficient started to attract engineers
attention, and many research and studies enables them to be used safely in modern constructions.
While sandwich panels can be made by the combination of a variety of materials, the structure of them
always shares a same pattern. Two relatively thin and strong facings on both side, and a relatively light
and thick core materials in the middle. It is also worth to notice that the shape of facings can be flat or
profiled to satisfy different situations.
Commonly used facing materials can be stainless steel, aluminum, wood, plastic and concrete, and
their core materials may be made of rubber, different kinds of polymers and mineral wool. Another
special way to make core is to produce a honeycomb core, and it can be even made by paper. The
range of choices of facing and core materials gives a flexibility in use of sandwich panels. This means
that designers can choose a specific combination to optimal its behavior for a special application.

Gastric Acid Secretion Research Paper
Gastric acid production and secretion
Gastric acid secretion is said to be a complex process regulated by hormonal and neural pathways
(Ceglia et al. 2008). This paper would try to decipher the pathophysiology of gastric acid secretion
and explain the changes process in different types of disorders such as gastritis, peptic ulcer disease,
and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
To begin talking about acid production and secretion, we have first to consider talking about the
physiology of the stomach. The stomach consists of three basic parts, the fundus the body and the
antrum, which are divided into two glandular regions, the oxyntic, and pyloric mucosa (Lewis,
Heitkemper and Dirksen, 2014). In the oxyntic gland mucosa, lays the parietal cells, ... Show more

Some common disorders associated with gastric acid secretion are gastroesophageal reflux disease
(GERD), peptic ulcer disease (PUD), and gastritis. For example, in gastroesophageal reflux disease,
high gastric contents enter and remain in the lower part of the esophagus due to weakened esophageal
sphincter, abdominal pressure, hiatal hernia, alcohol consumption or cigarettes smoking. Usually, the
lower esophageal sphincter maintains enough pressure around the lower end of the esophagus to close
it and prevent reflux (McPhee and Hammer, 2012). Sometimes the pressure in the stomach exceeds
the pressure in the esophagus, causes the sphincter to open and gastric contents penetrate the
esophagus which cause pain and irritation. Peptic ulcer diseases (PUD) and gastritis disorders,
however; are primarily caused by bacterial infection with helicobacter pylori and acid secretions also
play a major role (McPhee and Hammer, 2012). Direct alteration of signal transduction in mucosal
and immune cells by H pylori infection may cause an increase in acid secretion and diminish mucosal
defenses (McPhee and Hammer,

Prokaryotes And Archaea Similarities
INTRODUCTION
Definitions for Archaea vary, but what is commonly agreed upon is that these are some sort of micro
organisms.
Some argue them to be their own distinct domain, whereas others think they are merely part of the
prokaryotic domain. However many see them as a evolutionary step in between, as prokaryotic
relatives to eukaryotes. (x) Since their evolutionary history remains very unclear, it is hard to classify
them belonging to a group of their own or belonging to either prokaryotes or eukaryotes.
In 1977, Woese suggested dividing cells into three new domains; archaea, eukaryotes and prokaryotes.
(x)
Before this cells were divided into two main groups: prokaryotic cells, and eukaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their structural similarities are the reasoning behind why one might say that they belong to the
prokaryotic domain, being structurally very similar, especially on the first glance. The unique
properties will be discussed further later in this essay.
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN EUKARYOTES AND ARCHAEA
Though structurally, prokaryotic cells seem more similar to archaea than eukaryotic cells, yet when
one inspects their DNA, similarities between DNA replication, transcription and translation appear.
The DNA polymerase in archaea and eukaryotes are not related to any prokaryotic DNA polymerase,
suggesting that these two are of common origin. Other components used in DNA replication are
similarly only shared between eukaryotes and archaea (y). For example, the promoter (the part of the
DNA that initiates transcription), in archaebacteria has similar sequence and position to its eukaryotic
counterpart (x).
These characteristics were thought to be unique to eukaryotes, yet were found in archaea as well.
When so little is known about the evolutionary history of these organisms that constitute for the basis
of life on earth, categorising them becomes immensely hard.

The Opera Rigoletto At The Metropolitan Opera
The opera Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera was conducted by Pablo Heras Casado. The three
principal singers were Piotr Beczala as the Duke, Zeljko Lucic as Rigoletto and Olga Peretyatko as
Gilda. This being my first opera, I was surprised by how large and grandiose the house was, which is
in sharp contrast to my typical experience when I see musicals. The production decided to place a
modern twist on the setting of the opera, rather than the original setting of 16th century Italy, the story
is placed in Las Vegas in the 20th century. The set is constructed to reflect that in the first act with a
casino scene complete with neon lights, card tables and roulette. In my opinion, this all seemed to
distract the viewer from the story and the change in setting didn t enhance the production itself. Rather
it made me think about how out of place this all was instead of focusing on the opera itself. The first
act was fairly difficult for me to suspend disbelief and get into the plot of the opera. This had much to
do with me being initially turned off by the casino as the setting for this opera. Although in later acts I
was able to move past the modern set that was only because this set became less pronounced in the
second and third acts.
Now moving on to the aria s the three I will be focusing on will be the Aria from the Duke La Donna e
Mobile, Bella figlia dell amore, and Della vendetta alfin giunge l´istante . These scenes effectively
move the audience through their repetition

And released Help! Which had the song Yesterday which is the most covered song in the world and
amazingly enough Paul Mccartney wrote the song in his sleep. Lennon wrote Help! which was him

The name Ottawa is originally spelled Odawa in their native language. The language that they speak is mostly English, but their native language is Ojibwa, which is related to Anishinaabe language. The tribe s original homeland, according to bigorrin.org, is mostly in southern Ontario in Canada, which is where the name of Ottawa or Odawa came from, and Michigan. There are multiple Ottawa tribes, but there is one here in Manistee, Michigan, they are the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. There is a legion amount of people that are in the Little River Band that are exceedingly close to me. The Little River Band is full and rich in culture. The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, a Michigan tribe that has survived to the present day despite the expansionist and assimilationist policies that nearly robbed it of its identity in the late nineteenth century , explained James McClurken who published the book Our People, Our Journey . He then explains that they Little River Band was forced onto a reservation on the Pere Marquette and Manistee Rivers in 1858. The tribe was getting pushed and shoved around for countless years and their culture was disintegrating. In fact, my boyfriend, Andrew, his grandmother, Margaret Chandler, was a strong and tough working representative that helped and pushed the people of their tribe for over ... • 3. How Water Shortages Caused The Future Can Produce... The focus of this essay is how water shortages in the future can produce worldwide food shortages. Only if we act to improve water use in agriculture will we meet the acute freshwater challenges facing humankind over the coming 50 years [4]. As the world changes over the next fifty years, the water struggles that we endure will be seen in the food production around the world. There are many factors that contribute to this occurring, including global climate change, the increase in water security vulnerability, and the phenomenon that the world has hit peak water. The world s population has also changed their average diet over the past 50 years, to consuming more meat and more calories in general [4]. This dietary change means that each person requires more water to produce their food than in previous generations. In the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) countries as much as 50% of their food is imported [1]. These countries are currently seeing the troubles of not having enough water to grow and supply them with enough food. In the future other regions of the world may become less inclined to trade with the MENA countries, because their own countries are consuming all of their food. The region has suffered from a decline in water availability which is only projected to decline even further in the next few decades [1]. The struggles of this region could be a preview for many other regions around the world if the water shortages continue as projected. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it was not essentially the aggregate sum of each individual s behavior, actions and thoughts. Durkheim endeavored to understand transformation of society, from traditional to modern, where solidarity changes from mechanical to organic because of the phenomenon of division of labour . In this essay I will aim to explain first, how organic solidarity came to existence because of increasing division of labour in society. To begin with I will take a peek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the same standards it also contains fallacies which limit its appeal in contemporary world. Firstly, Durkheim s account of organic solidarity seems positivist in that the division of labor does not have negative effects at all. With great convenience Durkheim propagates the conditions responsible for smooth functioning of organized societies in some idyllic place. To elaborate more on this point, the society does not have the self regulating quality as implied by organic solidarity. Durkheim s principle assumption was that collective conscience and individual conscience coupled with the State would lead to organic solidarity. Although Durkheim tries to take account of this nature of society through anomic division of labor yet his viewpoint on evils of unregulated capitalism, commercial and industrial crises, class conflict, meaninglessness, alienated labor etc. was very uncritical in nature. This observation was further strengthened when in his later works he gradually parted away with evolutionary optimism which underpinned the mechanical, self regulating conception of division of labor. Secondly, Durkheim does not seem to be concerned about the ill effects of division of labor . On one hand mutual interdependence creates solidarity which holds together societies, on the other in modern societies one is not able to sustain without depending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If we look at Nelsons Industry and work, its evidence is similar to other Northern parts of Britain because it teaches us that Nelson changed from being very rural to an industrialised area. Farm lands were replaced by factories. This is typical to what happened in other textile towns. This is reinforced by source N. The two maps show us the difference that occurred in 57 years. It shows the 1844 version and 1901 version of Nelson. In 1844 we can see that most of the area was of rural life and poorly populated however 57 years later it shows us a much more industrialised version with very crowded areas. This Blessed House Analysis Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of many stories in her Pulitzer Prize winning collection Interpreter of Maladies and follows a newlywed Indian American couple, Sanjeev and Twinkle, settling into their first suburban home together. As Twinkle begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house, Sanjeev wants to throw them all away, underscoring that Sanjeev deeply cares about how they will look if they display these Christian symbols as Hindus, while Twinkle simply wants to have fun in presenting her discoveries. More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to look good in front of his coworkers; he does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is supposed to show off in an upcoming housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with his mother put these three variables of work, spouse, and home together as a formula, when she says that because he has enough money in the bank, he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his money is supposed to go toward raising a family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of success, and despite it not making him truly happy, his continual pursuit of it emphasizes that he is attempting to perform a fixed role that he does not fit into well. • 13. Application Of Advanced High Strength Dual Phase Essay Introduction Reducing the fuel consumption and as a result reducing the amount of emissions which is achieved by car weight reduction and besides passenger safety and crashworthiness improvement via mechanical energy absorption are the main goals of car manufactures. Application of advanced high strength dual phase (DP) steels is being considered as one of the efficient ways to obtain the above mentioned goals [1 3]. (DP) steels have attracted considerable attention in the automotive industry due to favorable combination formability, work hardening, ductility and high strength to weight ratio [4]. The mentioned features is resulted from the unit microstructure of the DP steels. DP steels despite their name consist of three or more phases including ferrite, martensite, banite, retained austenite and pearlite. The Matrix in DP steels is soft ferrite and the strengthening phase is martensite. In some cases banite and retained austenite also contribute to strengthening. Ferrite enables low initial yielding stress and martensite enables the high ultimate tensile strength (UTS). The above characteristics make the DP steels ideal alloy systems for automotive sheet forming operations [5]. Phase fractions and their interfaces and morphology have a great influence on strength and ductility of DP steels.[6] yield and tensile strength of DP steel can significantly improved by microstructural refinement without losing the uniform elongation and fracture strain which will result in ... By incapacitating someone (keeping them in prison) they will no longer be able to commit crimes against society. Long prison sentences are not the only means of incapacitating someone. This can be done through intensive supervision, electronic monitoring, and even the requirement to register as a sex offender can be seen as incapacitating. Incapacitation assumes that most criminals will continue to commit crimes if they are not restrained. Another goal of criminal sentencing is to rehabilitate. Rehabilitation is a programmed effort to alter the attitudes and behaviors of inmates and improve their likelihood of becoming law abiding citizens (Seiter, 2008, p. 32). Rehabilitation assumes that criminals have underlying problems that are the cause of their criminality and that if these causes are treated, the offender can return to society and possibly provide some type of restitution for the victims of their crimes. It tells about the story of a young man who has inhabited his own village, and the successive accounts of the invented emergency that returns to occur. When it was discovered in Corinth, it was obvious it was influenced greatly due to the cultural interactions between the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean regions during the eighth and seventh centuries BCE. The vase has feral goats, panthers, creatures, and oriental styled floral motifs on the body and shoulder of the vase. This vessel is going against the usual Oinochoe from the time, because it has a short shoulder and body, while being wide at the same time with a broad almost none existent foot. The paintings on the base and shoulder are broken up into registers which can trace back to Mesopotamian culture and Egyptian society as well. Both registers on the shoulder and body depict two dimensional figures along side with oriental flowers. In both registers, there is an animal depicted, which is a panther. The panther is one of the forms that Dionysus the god of wine, agriculture, and fertility of nature takes on.3 The panther on this Oinochoe leads us to believe it represents Dionysus because he is the god of wine, and this particular vessel was used for wine. Another figure on the vase is a winged figure, however that part of the vase has faded to the point where it cannot be analyzed or examined. What can be seen however are lions, which at the time in ancient Greece showed wealth and power and can often be found in many Greek myths. Lions during this time are depicted roaring with their mouths open and their body flexing and tall, poised to show power and authority. The registers may have the same animals and creatures on them; however the register on the body of the vase has more of the animals. The final animal that is depicted is a feral goat, the only way it can described and identified as feral, is because it is grazing where the lions and bird like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A topic of debate in recent history is the reasoning behind the Japanese overly brutal violence towards the Chinese during the massacre at Nanjing. The prevailing theory is that the Japanese saw the Chinese as an inferior race, or Chancorro (sub human) thus, killing Chinese held no great significance. Chinese soldiers were not the only targets for the brutality, innocent Chinese citizens were treated with the same violence. Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a picture released on 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It is portraying about five a United States Navy and United States Marines corpsman raising an U.S. flag at the top of Suribachi Mount, after the Battle on Iwo Jima island during World War II. The photograph was very famous and popular, to the extent that it had being reprinted thousand times in that period of time. The five soldiers in the picture is representing the American navy who engaged in the war against Japan taking place in the Iwo Jima an island in Pacific Ocean which is referring to the bundle of land the soldiers are standing on. The scene about five soldiers climbing a hill raising the American Flag, amidst rubble is here the signifier, which implied the secondary level of meaning. For the meaning being signified is the strength and power of these soldiers to climb to the top and represent pride for their country (by raising the flag over Iwo Jima, it can reflect American s victory and s of the war). And more importantly, there are also a myth conveyed implicitly by this picture. • 38. The Analytical Versus Holistic Approach Of Leadership Essay Overview In general, we are familiar with the quote managers do things right while leaders do the right things. In essence, the analytical versus the holistic approach of leadership addresses these two separate and distinct functions within an organization. For instance, a manager focuses on the daily operations of an organization with an emphasis on team delivery, budgeting, and supervising the employees. Contrarily, leaders within an organization focus their time on improvements and innovation. In particular, leaders can perform this function since they are not responsible for running the team and mired up in minutia. As a result, there is a misnomer that managers are leaders and leaders remain managers, but they are not exclusive. Therefore, being a manager and a leader requires different abilities and dispositions. With this in mind, management entails having the skills to plan, delegate, communicate, and motivation. An individual with the administrative skills may focus on the daily operations of an organization with an emphasis on team delivery, budgeting, and supervising the employees. Moreover, managers are working on organizational efficiency, speeding up the operation to cut costs and increasing productivity, and enforcing the rules and procedures. By having the proper leadership traits, managers can conceive the right decisions and accomplish these goals. • 40. A Study On Sandwich Panels 1. Introduction Sandwich panels has been widely used in different kinds of constructions nowadays, though sandwich technology was confined almost entirely in aerospace applications before 1960s. From that time, their characteristics such as high strength to weight ratio and energy efficient started to attract engineers attention, and many research and studies enables them to be used safely in modern constructions. While sandwich panels can be made by the combination of a variety of materials, the structure of them always shares a same pattern. Two relatively thin and strong facings on both side, and a relatively light and thick core materials in the middle. It is also worth to notice that the shape of facings can be flat or profiled to satisfy different situations. Commonly used facing materials can be stainless steel, aluminum, wood, plastic and concrete, and their core materials may be made of rubber, different kinds of polymers and mineral wool. Another special way to make core is to produce a honeycomb core, and it can be even made by paper. The range of choices of facing and core materials gives a flexibility in use of sandwich panels. This means that designers can choose a specific combination to optimal its behavior for a special application. This paper would try to decipher the pathophysiology of gastric acid secretion and explain the changes process in different types of disorders such as gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. To begin talking about acid production and secretion, we have first to consider talking about the physiology of the stomach. The stomach consists of three basic parts, the fundus the body and the antrum, which are divided into two glandular regions, the oxyntic, and pyloric mucosa (Lewis, Heitkemper and Dirksen, 2014). In the oxyntic gland mucosa, lays the parietal cells, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some common disorders associated with gastric acid secretion are gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease (PUD), and gastritis. For example, in gastroesophageal reflux disease, high gastric contents enter and remain in the lower part of the esophagus due to weakened esophageal sphincter, abdominal pressure, hiatal hernia, alcohol consumption or cigarettes smoking. Usually, the lower esophageal sphincter maintains enough pressure around the lower end of the esophagus to close it and prevent reflux (McPhee and Hammer, 2012). Sometimes the pressure in the stomach exceeds the pressure in the esophagus, causes the sphincter to open and gastric contents penetrate the esophagus which cause pain and irritation. Peptic ulcer diseases (PUD) and gastritis disorders, however; are primarily caused by bacterial infection with helicobacter pylori and acid secretions also play a major role (McPhee and Hammer, 2012). Direct alteration of signal transduction in mucosal and immune cells by H pylori infection may cause an increase in acid secretion and diminish mucosal defenses (McPhee and Hammer, ... (x) Since their evolutionary history remains very unclear, it is hard to classify them belonging to a group of their own or belonging to either prokaryotes or eukaryotes. The DNA polymerase in archaea and eukaryotes are not related to any prokaryotic DNA polymerase, suggesting that these two are of common origin. Other components used in DNA replication are similarly only shared between eukaryotes and archaea (y). For example, the promoter (the part of the DNA that initiates transcription), in archaebacteria has similar sequence and position to its eukaryotic counterpart (x). This being my first opera, I was surprised by how large and grandiose the house was, which is in sharp contrast to my typical experience when I see musicals. The production decided to place a modern twist on the setting of the opera, rather than the original setting of 16th century Italy, the story is placed in Las Vegas in the 20th century. The set is constructed to reflect that in the first act with a casino scene complete with neon lights, card tables and roulette. In my opinion, this all seemed to distract the viewer from the story and the change in setting didn t enhance the production itself. Rather it made me think about how out of place this all was instead of focusing on the opera itself. The first act was fairly difficult for me to suspend disbelief and get into the plot of the opera.
