In 1981, a self proclaimed Washington outsider took the oath as President of the United
States of America. The country anxiously awaited to see if Ronald Reagan could keep the
promises he made during the campaign trail; some of the promises he made were, to appoint
the first female Supreme Court Justice and to change the ideology of the court. Reagan, a
staunch republican hoped to sway the court right for the first time in decades. While, he was
able to sway the court, complications from a democratic senate and a lame duck presidency
forced him to place only one true conservative and two moderate judges leaving a more
moderate than Reagan promised.

My time observing at Martin Luther King Jr Middle school was such a learning experience. As a
future teacher I learned a lot about myself. For one, I learned that being a teacher in a Title 1 school is
not for me. Our course text in chapter 4 stated that there is a shortage in the right kinds of teachers in
urban communities. The book is absolutely right. When it comes to kids in Title 1 schools and urban
communities it takes a special kind of teacher to deal with the issues that appear in those kids. A
teacher must be willing to put in extra time to work with the kids and be strong enough to deal with
their rough exteriors. Ms. Hill emphasized that idea to me. I ll be honest, I have the cultural
background to work with Title 1 kids, but I do not have the personality for it. The kids that I observed,

was observed that the flask began to heat up as the acid was added, and began to release a gas for a
brief moment. Afterwards, the diluted acid was allowed to cool to about room temperature and 3.2 mL
(3.0 g, 0.030 mol) of cyclohexanol were added to the mixture. The contents of the flask were carefully
transferred to a 25 mL round bottom flask that was attached to the distillation setup. The contents were
distilled at a steady pace, making sure that all the junctions and flasks were clasped appropriately in

In the Tusculan Disputations, Cicero wrote The Epicureans by their writings have seized the whole of
Italy. Indeed, this often neglected or dismissed branch of philosophy played a great role in the
development of the culture of Rome through the late Republican period. It can prove difficult to find
examples of noteworthy Epicureans holding political office compared with their polemic counterparts,
the Stoics, largely because of the Epicurean teaching [one must] live without being noticed. Still, there
are a few who hold public office despite their Epicurean beliefs, or perhaps more appropriately,
continue to hold Epicurean beliefs despite the social expectation to aspire to public office. From the
writings and of Cicero and Lucretius, we can come to understand the immense impact Epicureanism
had on Roman culture.
The first chronicled Roman who was classically trained in Epicureanism is Titus Albucius, a member
of the upper class living around 100 B.C.E. who spent his youth studying philosophy and oration in
Athens. Albucius grew fond of Epicureanism and declared himself a devotee of the school; however,
after reaching adulthood, Albucius returned to Rome to follow the cursus honorum, eventually ending
up as praetor of a province. After being exiled, Albucius went back to Athens and fully dedicated
