Suicide In Teen Suicide
Suicide continues to be one of the main causes of death in teens throughout America. Statistically,
suicide in the second leading cause of death for those ages ten to twenty four and around 3,470 people
grades ninth to twelfth attempt suicide each day in the United States (Youth Suicide Statistics 1). The
reason for these people wanting to take their life is unknown, however, divorce of parents, formation
of a new family, or moving to a new community, are common reasons for suicide. On the other hand,
those who battle depression or develop depression increase the risk of a suicide attempt. People may
think that everything is going wrong and dying is the only solution; but people will always be willing
to help. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and nothing is worth taking your own
life over.
In Willa Cather s short story Paul s Case , the main character, Paul, is clearly unhappy with his own
life as well as his home life. Paul lost his mother and has an unstable relationship with his father. He
dreads going home, as Cather explains: ...the hopeless feeling of sinking back forever into ugliness
and commonness that he had always had when he came home (Cather 108). This quote expresses the
hatred and disgust that Paul has towards his home and he will do anything to avoid coming home. This
book is very relatable and realistic because similar to Paul, many teenagers dislike their home life and
would much rather be away from their own family. Distancing yourself from loved ones, family,
friends, teachers, coaches, or whoever it may be, can be an early sign of depression (Suicide in
Children and Teens 1). Paul may or may not suffer from depression, but either way, his death could
have easily been prevented if Paul had a more positive outlook on life.
While homelife has an enormous impact on someone s emotions, life outside of home may be even
more important. According to Suicide in Children and teens, rebellious behavior such as constant
lying may be a sign of suicidal person. When questioned by the Principal as to why he was there, Paul
stated, politely enough, that he wanted to come back to school. This was a lie, but Paul was quite
accustomed to lying; found it, indeed, indispensable for

Social Issues of Refugees
Since the United States declared independence from Great Britain in 1776, there has been numerous
amount of legislation passed to increase the difficulty of gaining citizenship for immigrants. These
laws passed were deeply rooted in discriminatory practices for the preservation of an idealized
American culture. In today s society the United States has continue these practices, but claims

The mentality of those years has not left the United States, for in the 1980 s, Senator Alan Simpson
stated These new persons and their descendants do not assimilate satisfactorily...They may well create
in America the same social, political, and economic problems that exist in the countries in which they
have chosen to depart (Gomberg Muñoz, 2017; Gould, 1981). This quote from Simpson was followed
by the passing of the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) in 1986 and the Illegal
Immigration Reform and Immigration Responsibility Act (IIRAIRA) in 1996, focusing on the removal
and changing of status of lawful immigrants to lower the immigration status in the United States led
by of fear of multiculturalism and criminality. With politicians publically advocating racial ideologies
and falsehoods towards immigrants, it disassociates U.S. citizens from the fact that the passage of
some immigrants is due to fleeing countries that the UN declares state of emergency on. Refugees and
asylum seekers are based on those Who can demonstrate a well rounded fear of persecution because of

The writer attempts to sway the readers by using exaggeration to tradition and custom to develop her
argument. The phrase soon many young people may not be able to write at length in Standard English
is used to describe the use of technology as something invaluable. The text would encourage the
reader to resist changes to the way they use technology and suggest that technology is damaging our
society. The writer has developed his argument by saying that should we not warm our young people
that text messaging is harmful? Furthermore she also uses expert opinion to strengthen her ideas. The
phrase health expert Dr Rose Khan says would develop her intention by presenting expert opinion and
it is attributed, so the readers can judge like truth. The impact on the reader would be that she will
think that this issue is factual. The writer has further developed her ideas by saying that there are many
obese children and adults because they use technology most of the time and spend their time at home
to watch TV or use computers. He says that obesity is therefore caused by the use of technology

Informative Essay About Basketball
What It Takes
Intro
Ever wonder what it takes to be a college athlete? Sure, the games and events are fun to watch but
what exactly goes into preparing for these events and games? I will tell you exactly what it takes and
what a college basketball player goes through because all the audience sees are the flashy views of the
sport. However, we will now take a look at the sport from the other side of the ball.
Background
The game of basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith in 1891. The original equipment of the
game was a literal peach basket and a soccer ball. By 1892 the first official game of basketball was
played in a YMCA in New York. Then by 1895 basketball was a standard sport and began to be played
all around even within high schools and colleges. In 1906 rims and back boards were made and by
1949 basketball could be played professionally. As the sport came along the skill level of players
increased and the game became flashier. Numerous professional legends were showcases like Michael
Jordan, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley. Now the game is super complex and skill driven.
Sure, the sport is exciting to watch, but there is a vast number of things that the player puts into the
sport. A college basketball player puts countless hours into the sport. With the combined time of
treatment, practice, and lifting weights, that makes for a full load of work to go along with their school
work. The audience in which watching the game does not see the extra time and effort put

Loss Of Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night
In the text, Night, by Elie Wiesel, the dynacism of the narrator is accentuated by the battles he
undergoes with his faith throughout. Wiesel s whole journey throughout Auschwitz is greatly
influenced with his ongoing argument with his inner self. God, to people of religion, shapes how
people live their lives ever since they were young; how they grow, learn, play, economics and who
they should fall in love with. God is what maps out their lives, and for the Jews during the Holocaust,
this was a backbone for life. In the text, when the Jews get brutally targeted in the Holocaust, Wiesel
feels betrayed by God. Through it all, Wiesel goes on a self journey trying to stay alive and trying to
stay loyal to his faith.

Weisel is going through, faith could be a rock. Wiesel and his companions find faith becoming
something unreliable and even more hurtful. Wiesel wants his faith to come back, but he still feels
conflicted. Furthermore he states How could I say to Him: Blessed be Thou, Almighty, Master of the
Universe, who chose us among all nations to be tortured day and nightm to watch as our fathers, our
mothers, our brothers end up in furnaces? (Wiesel, 67). Wiesel continuously, day after day, see s
horrors that will still haunt him in his sleep for many years to come. It is not only him that sees this, as
well as millions of other fellow Jews. Wiesel is majorly struggling with horrors of what s going on
inside of the camp along with the battle of his faith, which is an internal battle against himself and the
roots of his family. After a while searching he s able to come back and believe that faith and God is
what will get him out of the situation and therefore that s how he escaped

Analysis Of The Movie The Disneyfication Of Broadway
Introduction A trip to 42nd street circa 1990 was certainly no destination fit for a family. Walls of
graffiti adorn the peeling awnings of storefronts and theatres promise private dances and live nude
women. Porn shops dotted the city block with colorful invitations to sex hotlines and signs prohibiting
entry to anyone under the age of eighteen (Wollman 445). Decades earlier, during the Prohibition era,
speakeasies and brothels lined the city, creating New York s red light district. Today s Times Square,
however, bares no hint of resemblance to its former image of sleaze and mystery. Neon lights that
once illustrated silhouettes of burlesque dancers have since been fashioned into the welcoming faces
of cartoon characters. Signs visible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The commencement of renovations, then, relied heavily on the support of the city and state of New
York s investment, and because of the potential profit to be made from tourism, the state obliged
(Wollman 1). This investment greatly contributed to The Walt Disney Company s decision to lease the
New Amsterdam Theatre. Prior to 1994, the theatre spent decades without use and had fallen into
decay. Professor of Performance Studies and academic, Elizabeth Wollman detailed the deal between
Disney and the city in an article analyzing the interaction between theatre and corporations. She
explained:
Disney agreed to spend approximately $6 million to renovate the huge, ninety five year old New
Amsterdam on 42nd Street, Disney would enjoy exclusive use of the New Amsterdam, which it now
occupies under a long term, forty nine year lease and currently uses to house the musical version of
The Lion King. The city and state agreed to lend Disney an additional $28 million in low interest
loans in return for 2 percent of all ticket receipts from shows staged at the theater. (Wollman 447)
With its acquisition of the theatre Disney opened Beauty and the Beast, a stage musical based on the
company s popular musical film, and not long after its opening did investors such as Time Warner and
Madame Tussauds hop on the 42nd street bandwagon (Nelson 74). The reopening of the New
Amsterdam Theatre marked a transformation to the New Times Square which, as

Springfield, Illinois, And The Springfield
Although Springfield, Illinois was home to Abraham Lincoln, not everyone shared his views. Many
people were racist and prejudice toward the colored community. Not all of people s thoughts are
purely their own, some are given from peers, family, or the media. Newspaper media in Springfield,
Illinois during 1908 had such a large influence on the events and thoughts of the people, that they
essentially caused the Springfield race riot.
The Newspapers
In Springfield 1908, there were two major newspapers, The Illinois State Journal and The Springfield
Record. The Springfield Record and The Illinois State Journal were competitors during Abraham
Lincoln s presidential campaign. During 1908, both published racially intense stories and highlight
crime in black neighborhoods. Most of the white community who read newspapers with racially
intense stories were influenced by the words. Not everyone in Springfield supported Lincoln in
Springfield during the Civil War and his run for President. One major newspaper during the Civil War
and during the Springfield riots was The Springfield Journal. The Journal kept citizens up to date on
Lincoln s campaign. Every decision Lincoln made during his campaign was published in The Journal.
During the war and campaign, The Journal supported Lincoln but turned against his views when the
riots took place. Why is it that the Journal has to make daily record of its confidence in the president
elect. Is it to create or dispel doubt? After the war,

Video B And Its Effects On Our Society
Child abuse, in most cases, end in two different ways. The children are killed, mentally and physically,
or the abuse is reported to the authorities. Approximately 5 children die every day because of child
abuse. Although many people do not understand how many children are abused, there is a mass
amount of content online about this topic and how it affects our society. Both videos are engaging and
informative. However, although Video A has better text, Video B s imagery and sound is more thought
provoking, making Video B more effective. Video B has better imagery in comparison to Video A. The
imagery showed not just sad children that are beaten, but also a story with clear and memorable
scenes. For example, in Video B, it shows a brutal scene of a drunken father ramming his fist into his
son s face; the boy s face became swollen and bruised. In opposition, Video A only shows a small girl
curled into herself as the audience hears muffled shouting. In another scene from Video B, an angled
shot of a boy destroying his red new bicycle out of frustration. Showing the viewer how a kid under an
abusive home feels powerless. Video B shows how the brutal imagery can affect the viewer, but sound
also links with the story is progressing in the video. The sound of a whistle as a kid kicks and smashes
his bright red bike into the pavement, anger clear on his face. Or a father s fist hitting flesh over and
over again, the smacking sound echoing in the video. Finally, Video B s imagery are

Comparison Of Lewis And Clark Expedition
The expeditions of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark of the newly purchased Louisiana Territory
radically shaped American scientific knowledge as well as relationships with Indians. The framework
for their expedition was laid far before they first set sail from the mouth of the Missouri River is 1804.
In 1801, France reacquired its North American Louisiana territory from Spain after a series of secret
deals with Spain brokered by French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Almost immediately, US trade at
the port of New Orleans was blocked, enraging many Americans. Realizing that this presented a
bottleneck on US expansion and trade, president Thomas Jefferson sent his Secretary of State, James
Monroe, to Paris to discuss the possibility of purchasing the territory. ... Show more content on

This territory nearly doubled the size of the US, extending it to the Rocky Mountains. Shortly after the
approval for the purchase of the territory came the approval for the creation of a group known as the
Corps of Discovery. This company would have the responsibility (and support of the government) to
create maps and establish diplomacy with the Indians of the new territory, all of these activities had
the purpose of not only discovering more about the unfamiliar new lands, but also allowing for new
trade, and thus, economic growth. Jefferson decided to put his personal secretary, Meriwether Lewis,
in charge of the Corps of Discovery. As his first action, Lewis chose his former military officer, and
close friend, William Clark, to aid him in leading the journey, thus giving birth to the legendary duo,

A Reoccurring Theme Of Mary Shelly s Frankenstein
In the novel, Frankenstein, Mary Shelly tends to create a reoccurring theme that isolation indeed leads
to the destruction of humans. There were negative consequences throughout the book when isolation
occurred, whether it was earned or unearned. From the beginning of this novel, Victor isolates himself
on his own because of his selfish interests in playing the role of God in life. Victor s creation
experienced negative consequences from being separated not only from Victor but the world around it.
Mary Shelly introduced isolation at the beginning of this novel by showing Victor s interests that lead
to his isolation, as well as the isolation of his creation. In the article, Monsters of Modernity:

This statement goes to show that Victor s addiction to the human composure is what lead to his fate of
isolation. Victor s creation received unnecessary isolation which created multiple adverse
consequences for him. After Victor had created this life from dead body parts, he abandoned it because
he was ashamed of the monster he had created. Victor was shocked to see that his creation lacked
basic human qualities and had an unappealing appearance. Victor was his creature s mother, father,
and Godly figure, who left him because he was incapable of being a great being. This creation was
innocent from the moment it was created because it had no choice about its appearance or physical
traits. If the monster blamed its isolation on anyone, it would be Victor because he left it when it
needed him the most resulting in the creation turning to nature for all support. The creation is not only
shut out by Victor because of its look, but society shuts him out. too. I am alone and miserable; man
will not associate with me, said Victor s creation in the novel Frankenstein (Shelley 103). Victor s
creature knew that his appearance would turn people away, yet there was nothing he was able to do.
The society that got a glimpse of this monster was mortified by his grotesque like appearance and his

The Case Against Perfection By Michael Sandel
In Michael Sandel s essay, The Case Against Perfection, he starts by wondering if genetic engineering
is moral. He used Dolly the cloned sheep as an example of bioengineering that could be used on
humans in the future. He then compares it to designer children, children whose parents choice their
genes for them, and points out that similar arguments that can be made against both of them.
Sandel talks about why we have a problem with medical and genetic enhancements, using examples.
The first is muscle enhancement. Using the research of H. Lee Sweeney, of the University of
Pennsylvania, on muscle repair and strengthen that was used on mice as an example, Sandel shows the
potential of genetic engineering advancements. The second was about memory enhancement. Some
research was mentioned about inserting memory linked gene into mice embryo makes them smarter.
Sandel focuses more on the market for memory enhancing drugs because the market is a better
indication of what people would do with improved memories. There is already a way to make children
taller; human growth hormone is given to children with a hormone deficiency to help them grow to
normal size, but some parents want to use it on their normal children to make them taller. Another ...

The Great Leaders Of The Civil Rights Movement
Throughout history, people have made sacrifices, changes, and big decisions that later sometimes
result in something grand. These grand occurrences can either be good or bad. Usually as time goes on
these events and most well known people of this time are highlighted in history classes for students to
learn and to honor those of that time. However, some of the smaller people that contributed to
historical events aren t as highlighted as those that were seen as the big leaders. For example, in the
American Revolution, the people that usually come to mind are George Washington, Paul Revere, and
Thomas Jefferson. What about the people who were injured, scared and killed because of this bloody
war? They seem to be forgotten until they are highlighted once again. Another example of a person
that was not really highlighted for their actions is Nina Simone. She made an impact on the Civil
Right Movement that not many other artist or celebrity would have done. When you think of the Civil
Rights Movement the first three that come to mind of course are, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X,
and Rosa Parks. So, when someone hears the name Nina Simone the two most common responses
might be Who s that? or Oh the singer? . But what is forgotten is how she, at such a high level, put her
reputation at a risk. Nina Simone was a very well known singer of the 1950s and 1960s especially for
her song Feeling Good . She didn t just use her popularity for fame and money but to express

person has $50,000 in long term gains from selling one stock, but have $30,000 in long term losses

What Is The Difference Between AAOIFRS And IFRS

Under the economic globalization and the rapid development of Islamic finance in recent years, the

the Islamic accounting standards AAOIFI were developed due to of the existing problem with the
adoption of the convention accounting standards (IFRS). In this chapter, to illustrate the difference

Besides, the company can issue shares, and hand out the dividends, or issue bonds and pay the
interest; moreover, taking a loan from the bank with interest is an alternative. However, in Islamic
accounting, the interest is not allowed, which prevent the company from raising the fund through last
two options. Thus, the Mudaraba is widely applied in Islamic economies. Mudaraba is a kind of
partnership which one party provides money to a commercial enterprise, and the funds are managed
by a third party based on Mudaraba investment management agreement. For example, the depositor
can authorize the Islamic bank to manage their funds, and get profit from the return on the funds

For the Mudaraba investment found, AAOIFI standards require presenting the funds in a separate item
between liabilities and equity in the statement of financial position. On the contrary, compliant with
IFRS, the fund will be recorded as liability.

in England, he discovered that the birds were actually the same species. Although they possessed
certain similar characteristics the birds each had unique morphological qualities that made them differ
from one another. This inspired his famous evolution theory, which is now a biological fact due to the
enormous evidence supporting the theory.
Famous scientists, like Rosemary Grant and her husband, made so many important discoveries on

The Effects Of Recidivism On The United States
Reviewing Literature
Sociologist, psychologist, and political figures have made concerted efforts, to analyze, predict, and
resolve the detrimental social and economic impact of recidivism as it relates to communities within
the United States. Yet recidivism remains a problem in the US. The focus here is not recidivism itself,
but to understand which aspects of case management services may assist in lessening recidivism after
an offender s incarceration.
Nationally within three years of release, about two thirds (67.8 percent) of released prisoners were
rearrested (National Institute of Justice, 2014). In Illinois, over 45 percent of offenders released from
prison each year recidivate (Green, Illinois Policy, 2015). There are many possible factors contributing
to recidivism. However, this study will only explore the lived experiences of ex offenders and their
case management services. This study will focus on identifying the phenomenon that exists within
participants lived experiences who received case management services in a transitional homes setting

Case management assists ex offenders returning to the community through a vast array of programs.

It is shocking how many things we take for granted. We plan out our day, and don t think twice about

framework in personality psychometrics that is aimed at assessing personality according to traits.
Traits refer to an individual s stable characteristics that predispose them to behave in particular ways
across contexts (de Bruin Taylor, 2013). In other words, trait psychologists aim to assess the
consistencies in an individual s behaviour in order to gain insight into the individual s general ways of
interacting with people and the environment. Using factor analysis on multiple personality scales,
psychologists have described and summarised personality traits in terms of five broad traits: Openness
to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our ways of interacting with others and the environment are affected by an innumerable amount of
factors such as; our cultural context, the particular social situation we are placed in, our health and
financial situation, relation with others, our early childhood experiences etc. Due to this, the one size
fits all approach that many theoretical models of personality follow is problematic (Borghans,
Duckworth, Heckman ter Weel, 2008). The approach stems from the increasing rate of globalisation:
commercial companies are hiring many international employees, placing a high demand on
psychologists to develop aptitude, intelligence as well as personality tests (Moyle, 2015). However,
personality assessments and applications have strong use within Western countries, this means that the
norms of what normal (and thereby non pathological) personality have been developed according to
Western culture. Simply translating the personality test into another language and distributing it to
another culture, as has been done in the past, is inappropriate and problematic. For example,
personality research has demonstrated that participants with a Chinese cultural history score lower on
extraversion than their Western counterparts (Cheung Cheung, 2003). Therefore we can see that the
major challenge facing psychometrists in this field involves the complex issues of adapting personality
tests appropriately across

Zero Dark Thirty
Zero Dark Thirty The movie Zero Dark Thirty is a film about the hunt and the assassination of Osama
bin Laden by the United States Navy SEAL Team Six. The Navy SEALs had criticism of how some
events portrayed the real effects. Based upon research, the facts about the real account portray the
movie s best effort to create the authenticity of the actual event. The movie captivates viewers with the
master plan, to raid and kill the Al Qaeda leader known as Osama bin Laden.
It all starts out with a young lady named Maya, who works for the United States Central Intelligence
Agency. Later, Dan and Maya then interrogate a man named Abu Fajar to get him to spill who is the
Al Qaeda leader, who was responsible for all the 9/11 attacks. He won t tell her anything and keeps
denying any knowing for any character that fits the role. So then, they are forced to torture him to get
any knowledge he possesses.
Abu finally spills an address and so Maya looks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hardest part was the raid, which takes place at night when they least expect the enemy because
most of them were sleeping when they raided. The SEALs then raid successfully and get into the room
with Osama, his wife, and two kids . They enforced him to put his hands up and to get down, he didn t
follow so one of the soldier s shot him right there. He later then bled out and died on May 2, 2011,
when the plan went one hundred percent correctly.
Zero Dark Thirty was made in 2012 and the director wanted to show all Americans what it was like to
raid and kill Osama bin Laden. Also, to enforce viewers how terrorizing Osama really was and how
close we were to actually let him launch another terrorist attack before we killed him. The director did
a good job by making the movie mostly similar to the actual events of what really happened. There
were some inaccuracies during this movie but overall, it was accurate in the way a movie can be

Philippines Annexation
Summer Kanstoroom
US History
Period 2
Wednesday December 3, 2014
Although controversial to some, the Americans made the right decision to annex the Philippines after
successfully freeing them from Spanish tyranny and rule. Without American rule and support, the
Philippines would have been an easy target to be taken over by Germany, England or Japan who all
would have savaged the land and further suppressed the people. The Filipinos were weak,
inexperienced and not ready to establish their own government and self rule themselves. During the
time of the annexation, the Americans needed a strategic place in that part of the world to protect their
interests, expand their trading partners and show the world they were a power to be ... Show more

The part of the world where the Philippines lies was one of the most volatile and dangerous in the
world. That being said, it also had some of the most profitable trade routes, richest resources and was
a vital part of the world to have a stronghold. By following through with the annexation of the
Philippines, the Americans were able to gain a stronghold on the other side of the world, enrich
themselves by gaining access to the valuable resources that were so plentiful and to take the time to
help spread freedom and democracy. William McKinley clearly believed and stated that we could not
turn them over to France and Germany our commercial rivals in the Orient that would be bad business
and discreditable.
There were many arguments as to the merits of annexing the Philippines or to walk away and grant
them their immediate freedom. The Filipinos had been tormented, had their land savaged and
destroyed by Spain for so long, there was truly only one humane and correct decision and that was to
annex the Philippines. The Americans although financially gained from the decision, never waivered
from their long term commitment to help to train, educate and prepare the Filipinos to self rule and
govern. Establishing a stronghold in that part of the world helped the Americans establish themselves
as a world power and leader in personal freedoms and spreading of democratic governments. With
America and its military located on the Philippines they were able to

NLJ had to hire and train inexperienced workers which resulted in more wastage of raw materials.
The direct labour rate variance is favourable for leather jackets meaning NLJ provided a lower
average rate to workers than budgeted. This was because NLJ hired and trained inexperienced workers
to meet the increase in demand for leather jackets, who were offered a lower wage than experienced
workers.

did not work as efficiently as budgeted. This was because the inexperienced workers hired could not
work as efficiently as the experienced workers accounted for in the budget.
The variance overhead variance is unfavourable for leather jackets indicating NLJ spent more on
variable overhead to produce leather jackets than budgeted. This was because new specialized sewing
machines had to be purchased to meet the increased production demand of leather jackets.

Early Twentieth Century
Music plays a large part in all cultures throughout the world. Music is used in varying ways, such as
ceremonially, sacredly, and secularly. Pieces and genres of music are reflections of their time and
society. Music has been used throughout its existence to inspire people, to do bigger and better things
or to learn how to inspire other people. Music is as complex and diverse as the people who listen to it
and the time periods from which it comes. With the expansion of technology in the world, came the
expansion of music sound, view, and instrumentation. The Early Twentieth Century brought with it a
new sound and an expanding ability to experiment with music. Like all music, music of the Early
Twentieth Century had its roots from elsewhere places. All of the various types of music from the
Early Twentieth Century built on each other. The development of one led to the development of the
next and so on. The beginning of the Twentieth Century began with Blues music, which has its roots
in African American traditions from the deep southern states in the US. Blues from the 1920s was
based on a twelve bar structure and repeating chords. Blues music was most often heard from freed
African Americans after the Civil War. These newly emancipated peoples often found the time of their

everything possible. For Mrs. Bragg her children are the reason she wakes up everyday and tries to
make a better life for them. No matter what actions or words a mother chooses, to a child his or her

Bragg s grandfather learned to find out the young man ways he lived long enough to see the true
nature of his son in law s character emerge, saw the cruelty, and his first inclination was to hunt him
down and kill him (35). Bragg s mother felt that her husband would change for the better the more
chances she gave him. Every time Bragg s father would come back for his wife he would leave her in
the end without any money and to expect another child on the way (66). Bragg s mother and the
children knew that the father could become dangerous at any time he would strike out at whoever was
near, but again it always seemed that she was between him and us, absorbing his cruelty, accepting it
(66). Bragg knew that his mother was not trying to bring the family in harm, only his mother wanted
the family life and for her boys to grow up with a father.
Bragg s mother was determined for her children to have a better life than she had. Margaret s love and
hard work for her children was clearly shown through the novel. Since Bragg s father was not around
his mother had to play both roles No by the time I was six years old, I had already witnessed what a
man should be. How a man should act. I saw it in my own momma, who put on a man s britches and
worked in the field all day... (49). Bragg s mother would also try to teach her children how to play
sports, and build kites (47). Margaret s love for her children is extraordinary; she strives to make her
children as happy as possible.

Risk Factors Leading For Blood Myeloid Dendritic Cells
risk factors such as tobacco smoking, male gender, race/ethnicity, stress, and aging. As an example,
Carrion et al. (2012), proposed a role for blood myeloid dendritic cells in sheltering and circulating
pathogens from the subgingival microbial biofilm in the periodontal pocket which are then transported
to atheromatous plaques lining coronary and other arteries. This and other pathways may play a role in
providing key signals for myeloid dendritic cell differentiation and atherogenic changes (39).
However, in recent years, the host response, rather than periodontopathogens, seems to be the primary
focus for elucidating the link between periodontal disease and CVD. Of particular interest, when pro
inflammatory mediators such as TNF α, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hypothesis links inflammatory periodontal disease to CVD, such as atherosclerosis, without
necessarily invoking bacteria or their products interacting with the cardiovascular system (38). In this
regard Craig et al. (2003) found that the patients with severe rapidly progressing periodontitis showed
a 100% higher hs CRP level in the circulation (plus other biomarkers) than patients with mild
periodontitis (37). Regarding mechanisms, CRP can form a complex with oxidized low density
lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol which, when phagocytosed by macrophages infiltrating
atheroscleromatous plaques, can differentiate into foam cells (52). The production of MMPs, for
instance MMP 8 (collagenase 2) and MMP 9 (gelatinase B), by these modified inflammatory cells, can
destroy the thin collagen cap that covers cholesterol rich plaques lining the coronary arteries leading to
plaque rupture, thrombosis, and acute myocardial infarction (53 55).
3.2. Diabetes
Many studies in the literature have linked periodontitis and both type I and type II diabetes
(17,30,56,57). Diabetes mellitus is characterized by hyperglycemia which historically has been the
main diagnostic feature of the disease. Long term hyperglycemia produces a range of

Folliculogenesis Essay
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to inform on the topic of folliculogenesis, how it occurs, and its role in
reproduction.
Introduction
Folliculogenesis is the production of follicles in the ovaries of female reproductive system. Every
month females go through their ovarian cycle, in which the ovaries produce follicles that help to carry
out the egg cell necessary for reproduction. This egg cell is carried out to be fertilized by a sperm cell
received from males during sexual intercourse. If the egg cell is not fertilized by the sperm cell, then
the female ends up going through the menstrual cycle in which the egg is expelled and the monthly
bleeding begins and persists its monthly course. The topic of folliculogenesis may be overlooked, but
when researching about the topic it is seen how important this cycle is in reproduction. This cycle lays
out the platform for reproduction every month, without this cycle the proper hormones would not be
able to be produced in the system.
Stages of Folliculogenesis
The ovarian cycle in a normal female occurs every month that lasts for a total of 28 days. The first
stage of folliculogenesis is the primordial follicles, this is when the ovaries produce the first follicles
at day zero. Each follicle consists of an egg cell with granulosa cells around it. The job of the
granulosa cells is to nourish the egg cell and help it travel through the ovary until fertilization.
In the next stage of folliculogenesis the primordial follicles

Summary Of The Metamorphosis Of Narcissus
In The Persistence of Memory, time appears to be the theme, from the pocket watches detached from
their chains melting slowly on rocks and the branches on a tree, to the decay or death implied by the
swarming ants on the orange clock. The ants and melting clocks are recognizable images that Dali
places in an unfamiliar context and he renders in a different way, to systematise confusion and thus to
help discredit completely the world of reality . The strange formless human figure or face in the centre
could be interpreted from what we might imagine being in a dreamlike state. Modernity is emphasized
when you are thinking, what am I looking at? It is a play on reality, a visual brainteaser, and an attack
on the rational. Here is this absurd alien landscape with very naturalistic renderings, where one thing
can be something else and meanings are up to interpretation. For example, why have drooping clocks,
is this meant to be a provocative idea because time is so regimented, that rules us and is so associated
with the industrial world we live in, or is it representing time slipping away? The title of the painting
suggests an attack on time and memory, giving the audience a hallucinatory dream world vision
surrealism, a sense of the unexplained, extraordinary and inexplicable. The Metamorphosis of
Narcissus is an abstract painting based on Ovid s tale of Narcissus and Echo. The two main themes of
grief and passion, Dali separates by the use of two main tones. The title

The Latin Root Of Genocide
According to Wikipedia, humiliation is the abasement of pride, which creates mortification, or leads to
a state of being humbled or reduced to lowliness or submission. The Latin root of humiliation is
humus , which means earth or dirt translating to reduce to dirt ; representing ones rank in society. No
one should have to experience the awful feeling of being humiliated, but it has been happening for
centuries, and it continues to happen in our society to this very day. Humiliation promotes negative
psychological thinking; it is used for punishment, to some it defines their status, and it could prompt a
terrible situation if intertwined with anger. A friend told me once that she is a firm believer in

The Influence Of Human Development
Human development is a complex, lifelong process. The course of growth is shaped by a number of
influences, of which can either foster growth into a healthy and functional person, or contribute to the
detriment of development. Ultimately, these influences, whether positive or negative, contribute to the
uniqueness of the individual over the course of his or her lifetime. Because it is certainly possible that
everything in which with a person comes into contact leaves a mark on that person s temperament
(and subsequent behavior), and that different types of influences have different consequences with
varying degrees of gravity, it is necessary to examine each source of influence individually. In doing
so, we can strive to promote influences that produce positive outcomes, while discouraging those that
yield negative ones. This school of thought becomes particularly relevant within the academic sphere,
and raises questions about what sort of influences contribute to and detract from academic
achievement. What can parents and educators do to ensure that students have the best possible chances
of meeting their academic potential? How is this experience different between different ethnic groups?
A common discussion within Psychology is whether personality and behavior can be more accurately
contributed to nature (the genetic tendency for a person to act or appear in a certain way) or nurture
(the effect of environment and upbringing). Regarding academic performance, will people who are
naturally more intelligent, focused, or perfectionistic always do better in school than those who are
not? Alternatively, can the right opportunities and support system make up for deficits in the
aforementioned areas? It is safe to say that neither of these statements are entirely true for every
person, and that both nature and nurture play a role in academic achievement.
Urie Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory contributes to the significance of the nurture role,
and explores the relationship between a person s environment and their development. He suggests that
development can be explained only when environment is understood as a whole. Just as environmental
ecosystems can be organized from specific to broad (organism,

  • 2. Suicide In Teen Suicide Suicide continues to be one of the main causes of death in teens throughout America. Statistically, suicide in the second leading cause of death for those ages ten to twenty four and around 3,470 people grades ninth to twelfth attempt suicide each day in the United States (Youth Suicide Statistics 1). The reason for these people wanting to take their life is unknown, however, divorce of parents, formation of a new family, or moving to a new community, are common reasons for suicide. On the other hand, those who battle depression or develop depression increase the risk of a suicide attempt. People may think that everything is going wrong and dying is the only solution; but people will always be willing to help. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and nothing is worth taking your own life over. In Willa Cather s short story Paul s Case , the main character, Paul, is clearly unhappy with his own life as well as his home life. Paul lost his mother and has an unstable relationship with his father. He dreads going home, as Cather explains: ...the hopeless feeling of sinking back forever into ugliness and commonness that he had always had when he came home (Cather 108). This quote expresses the hatred and disgust that Paul has towards his home and he will do anything to avoid coming home. This book is very relatable and realistic because similar to Paul, many teenagers dislike their home life and would much rather be away from their own family. Distancing yourself from loved ones, family, friends, teachers, coaches, or whoever it may be, can be an early sign of depression (Suicide in Children and Teens 1). Paul may or may not suffer from depression, but either way, his death could have easily been prevented if Paul had a more positive outlook on life. While homelife has an enormous impact on someone s emotions, life outside of home may be even more important. According to Suicide in Children and teens, rebellious behavior such as constant lying may be a sign of suicidal person. When questioned by the Principal as to why he was there, Paul stated, politely enough, that he wanted to come back to school. This was a lie, but Paul was quite accustomed to lying; found it, indeed, indispensable for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote from Simpson was followed by the passing of the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) in 1986 and the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigration Responsibility Act (IIRAIRA) in 1996, focusing on the removal and changing of status of lawful immigrants to lower the immigration status in the United States led by of fear of multiculturalism and criminality. With politicians publically advocating racial ideologies and falsehoods towards immigrants, it disassociates U.S. citizens from the fact that the passage of some immigrants is due to fleeing countries that the UN declares state of emergency on. Refugees and asylum seekers are based on those Who can demonstrate a well rounded fear of persecution because of their race, membership in a social group, political opinion, religion or national origin (Gomberg Muñoz, 2017). • 6. Informative Essay About Basketball What It Takes Intro Ever wonder what it takes to be a college athlete? Sure, the games and events are fun to watch but what exactly goes into preparing for these events and games? I will tell you exactly what it takes and what a college basketball player goes through because all the audience sees are the flashy views of the sport. However, we will now take a look at the sport from the other side of the ball. Background The game of basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith in 1891. The original equipment of the game was a literal peach basket and a soccer ball. By 1892 the first official game of basketball was played in a YMCA in New York. Then by 1895 basketball was a standard sport and began to be played all around even within high schools and colleges. In 1906 rims and back boards were made and by 1949 basketball could be played professionally. As the sport came along the skill level of players increased and the game became flashier. Numerous professional legends were showcases like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley. Now the game is super complex and skill driven. Sure, the sport is exciting to watch, but there is a vast number of things that the player puts into the sport. A college basketball player puts countless hours into the sport. With the combined time of treatment, practice, and lifting weights, that makes for a full load of work to go along with their school work. The audience in which watching the game does not see the extra time and effort put ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Loss Of Faith In Night By Elie Wiesel Night In the text, Night, by Elie Wiesel, the dynacism of the narrator is accentuated by the battles he undergoes with his faith throughout. Wiesel s whole journey throughout Auschwitz is greatly influenced with his ongoing argument with his inner self. God, to people of religion, shapes how people live their lives ever since they were young; how they grow, learn, play, economics and who they should fall in love with. God is what maps out their lives, and for the Jews during the Holocaust, this was a backbone for life. In the text, when the Jews get brutally targeted in the Holocaust, Wiesel feels betrayed by God. Through it all, Wiesel goes on a self journey trying to stay alive and trying to stay loyal to his faith. When Wiesel first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wiesel wants his faith to come back, but he still feels conflicted. Furthermore he states How could I say to Him: Blessed be Thou, Almighty, Master of the Universe, who chose us among all nations to be tortured day and nightm to watch as our fathers, our mothers, our brothers end up in furnaces? Wiesel is majorly struggling with horrors of what s going on inside of the camp along with the battle of his faith, which is an internal battle against himself and the roots of his family. • 8. Analysis Of The Movie The Disneyfication Of Broadway Introduction A trip to 42nd street circa 1990 was certainly no destination fit for a family. Walls of graffiti adorn the peeling awnings of storefronts and theatres promise private dances and live nude women. Porn shops dotted the city block with colorful invitations to sex hotlines and signs prohibiting entry to anyone under the age of eighteen (Wollman 445). Decades earlier, during the Prohibition era, speakeasies and brothels lined the city, creating New York s red light district. Today s Times Square, however, bares no hint of resemblance to its former image of sleaze and mystery. The commencement of renovations, then, relied heavily on the support of the city and state of New York s investment, and because of the potential profit to be made from tourism, the state obliged (Wollman 1). This investment greatly contributed to The Walt Disney Company s decision to lease the New Amsterdam Theatre. Prior to 1994, the theatre spent decades without use and had fallen into decay. Professor of Performance Studies and academic, Elizabeth Wollman detailed the deal between Disney and the city in an article analyzing the interaction between theatre and corporations. She explained: Disney agreed to spend approximately $6 million to renovate the huge, ninety five year old New Amsterdam on 42nd Street, Disney would enjoy exclusive use of the New Amsterdam, which it now occupies under a long term, forty nine year lease and currently uses to house the musical version of The Lion King. The city and state agreed to lend Disney an additional $28 million in low interest loans in return for 2 percent of all ticket receipts from shows staged at the theater. (Wollman 447) With its acquisition of the theatre Disney opened Beauty and the Beast, a stage musical based on the company s popular musical film, and not long after its opening did investors such as Time Warner and Madame Tussauds hop on the 42nd street bandwagon (Nelson 74). • 9. Springfield, Illinois, And The Springfield Although Springfield, Illinois was home to Abraham Lincoln, not everyone shared his views. Many people were racist and prejudice toward the colored community. Not all of people s thoughts are purely their own, some are given from peers, family, or the media. Newspaper media in Springfield, Illinois during 1908 had such a large influence on the events and thoughts of the people, that they essentially caused the Springfield race riot. The Newspapers In Springfield 1908, there were two major newspapers, The Illinois State Journal and The Springfield Record. The Springfield Record and The Illinois State Journal were competitors during Abraham Lincoln s presidential campaign. During 1908, both published racially intense stories and highlight crime in black neighborhoods. Most of the white community who read newspapers with racially intense stories were influenced by the words. Not everyone in Springfield supported Lincoln in Springfield during the Civil War and his run for President. One major newspaper during the Civil War and during the Springfield riots was The Springfield Journal. The Journal kept citizens up to date on Lincoln s campaign. Every decision Lincoln made during his campaign was published in The Journal. During the war and campaign, The Journal supported Lincoln but turned against his views when the riots took place. • 10. Video B And Its Effects On Our Society Child abuse, in most cases, end in two different ways. The children are killed, mentally and physically, or the abuse is reported to the authorities. Approximately 5 children die every day because of child abuse. Although many people do not understand how many children are abused, there is a mass amount of content online about this topic and how it affects our society. Both videos are engaging and informative. However, although Video A has better text, Video B s imagery and sound is more thought provoking, making Video B more effective. Video B has better imagery in comparison to Video A. The imagery showed not just sad children that are beaten, but also a story with clear and memorable scenes. For example, in Video B, it shows a brutal scene of a drunken father ramming his fist into his son s face; the boy s face became swollen and bruised. In opposition, Video A only shows a small girl curled into herself as the audience hears muffled shouting. In another scene from Video B, an angled shot of a boy destroying his red new bicycle out of frustration. Showing the viewer how a kid under an abusive home feels powerless. Video B shows how the brutal imagery can affect the viewer, but sound also links with the story is progressing in the video. Or a father s fist hitting flesh over and over again, the smacking sound echoing in the video. Finally, Video B s imagery are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparison Of Lewis And Clark Expedition The expeditions of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark of the newly purchased Louisiana Territory radically shaped American scientific knowledge as well as relationships with Indians. The framework for their expedition was laid far before they first set sail from the mouth of the Missouri River is 1804. In 1801, France reacquired its North American Louisiana territory from Spain after a series of secret deals with Spain brokered by French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. There were negative consequences throughout the book when isolation occurred, whether it was earned or unearned. From the beginning of this novel, Victor isolates himself on his own because of his selfish interests in playing the role of God in life. Victor s creation experienced negative consequences from being separated not only from Victor but the world around it. This statement goes to show that Victor s addiction to the human composure is what lead to his fate of isolation. Victor s creation received unnecessary isolation which created multiple adverse consequences for him. After Victor had created this life from dead body parts, he abandoned it because he was ashamed of the monster he had created. Victor was shocked to see that his creation lacked basic human qualities and had an unappealing appearance. Victor was his creature s mother, father, and Godly figure, who left him because he was incapable of being a great being. This creation was innocent from the moment it was created because it had no choice about its appearance or physical traits. If the monster blamed its isolation on anyone, it would be Victor because he left it when it needed him the most resulting in the creation turning to nature for all support. The creation is not only shut out by Victor because of its look, but society shuts him out. too. I am alone and miserable; man will not associate with me, said Victor s creation in the novel Frankenstein (Shelley 103). • 13. The Case Against Perfection By Michael Sandel In Michael Sandel s essay, The Case Against Perfection, he starts by wondering if genetic engineering is moral. He used Dolly the cloned sheep as an example of bioengineering that could be used on humans in the future. He then compares it to designer children, children whose parents choice their genes for them, and points out that similar arguments that can be made against both of them. Sandel talks about why we have a problem with medical and genetic enhancements, using examples. The first is muscle enhancement. Using the research of H. Lee Sweeney, of the University of Pennsylvania, on muscle repair and strengthen that was used on mice as an example, Sandel shows the potential of genetic engineering advancements. The second was about memory enhancement. Some research was mentioned about inserting memory linked gene into mice embryo makes them smarter. These grand occurrences can either be good or bad. Usually as time goes on these events and most well known people of this time are highlighted in history classes for students to learn and to honor those of that time. However, some of the smaller people that contributed to historical events aren t as highlighted as those that were seen as the big leaders. For example, in the American Revolution, the people that usually come to mind are George Washington, Paul Revere, and Thomas Jefferson. What about the people who were injured, scared and killed because of this bloody war? They seem to be forgotten until they are highlighted once again. Another example of a person that was not really highlighted for their actions is Nina Simone. She made an impact on the Civil Right Movement that not many other artist or celebrity would have done. When you think of the Civil Rights Movement the first three that come to mind of course are, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, and Rosa Parks. So, when someone hears the name Nina Simone the two most common responses might be Who s that? or Oh the singer? . But what is forgotten is how she, at such a high level, put her reputation at a risk. Nina Simone was a very well known singer of the 1950s and 1960s especially for her song Feeling Good . Big Five Personality Test Essay The Big 5 Personality Test The Big Five model of personality traits is a widely accepted and popular framework in personality psychometrics that is aimed at assessing personality according to traits. Traits refer to an individual s stable characteristics that predispose them to behave in particular ways across contexts (de Bruin Taylor, 2013). In other words, trait psychologists aim to assess the consistencies in an individual s behaviour in order to gain insight into the individual s general ways of interacting with people and the environment. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our ways of interacting with others and the environment are affected by an innumerable amount of factors such as; our cultural context, the particular social situation we are placed in, our health and financial situation, relation with others, our early childhood experiences etc. Due to this, the one size fits all approach that many theoretical models of personality follow is problematic (Borghans, Duckworth, Heckman ter Weel, 2008). The approach stems from the increasing rate of globalisation: commercial companies are hiring many international employees, placing a high demand on psychologists to develop aptitude, intelligence as well as personality tests (Moyle, 2015). However, personality assessments and applications have strong use within Western countries, this means that the norms of what normal (and thereby non pathological) personality have been developed according to Western culture. Simply translating the personality test into another language and distributing it to another culture, as has been done in the past, is inappropriate and problematic. For example, personality research has demonstrated that participants with a Chinese cultural history score lower on extraversion than their Western counterparts (Cheung Cheung, 2003). This and other pathways may play a role in providing key signals for myeloid dendritic cell differentiation and atherogenic changes (39). • 31. Folliculogenesis Essay Abstract The purpose of this paper is to inform on the topic of folliculogenesis, how it occurs, and its role in reproduction. Introduction Folliculogenesis is the production of follicles in the ovaries of female reproductive system. Every month females go through their ovarian cycle, in which the ovaries produce follicles that help to carry out the egg cell necessary for reproduction. This egg cell is carried out to be fertilized by a sperm cell received from males during sexual intercourse. If the egg cell is not fertilized by the sperm cell, then the female ends up going through the menstrual cycle in which the egg is expelled and the monthly bleeding begins and persists its monthly course. The topic of folliculogenesis may be overlooked, but when researching about the topic it is seen how important this cycle is in reproduction. This cycle lays out the platform for reproduction every month, without this cycle the proper hormones would not be able to be produced in the system. Stages of Folliculogenesis The ovarian cycle in a normal female occurs every month that lasts for a total of 28 days. The first stage of folliculogenesis is the primordial follicles, this is when the ovaries produce the first follicles at day zero. Each follicle consists of an egg cell with granulosa cells around it. The job of the granulosa cells is to nourish the egg cell and help it travel through the ovary until fertilization. Summary Of The Metamorphosis Of Narcissus In The Persistence of Memory, time appears to be the theme, from the pocket watches detached from their chains melting slowly on rocks and the branches on a tree, to the decay or death implied by the swarming ants on the orange clock. The ants and melting clocks are recognizable images that Dali places in an unfamiliar context and he renders in a different way, to systematise confusion and thus to help discredit completely the world of reality . The strange formless human figure or face in the centre could be interpreted from what we might imagine being in a dreamlike state. Modernity is emphasized when you are thinking, what am I looking at? It is a play on reality, a visual brainteaser, and an attack on the rational. Here is this absurd alien landscape with very naturalistic renderings, where one thing can be something else and meanings are up to interpretation. For example, why have drooping clocks, is this meant to be a provocative idea because time is so regimented, that rules us and is so associated with the industrial world we live in, or is it representing time slipping away? The title of the painting suggests an attack on time and memory, giving the audience a hallucinatory dream world vision surrealism, a sense of the unexplained, extraordinary and inexplicable. Each of them deals with her boredom in her own way. Jane fills the void by sleeping with Ben Hood, while Elena emulates her daughter by mounting a bicycle and riding down to the local pharmacy to shoplift. In New Canaan, there are few distractions for those who spend all their time in the town. While the men travel to the city to work, their wives and children are left searching for ways to occupy the idle hours. Sandy Carver spends his time blowing things up, while his brother ponders nature and the body of sexually curious Wendy Hood in a neighbor s empty swimming pool. • 38. The Influence Of Human Development Human development is a complex, lifelong process. The course of growth is shaped by a number of influences, of which can either foster growth into a healthy and functional person, or contribute to the detriment of development. Ultimately, these influences, whether positive or negative, contribute to the uniqueness of the individual over the course of his or her lifetime. Because it is certainly possible that everything in which with a person comes into contact leaves a mark on that person s temperament (and subsequent behavior), and that different types of influences have different consequences with varying degrees of gravity, it is necessary to examine each source of influence individually. In doing so, we can strive to promote influences that produce positive outcomes, while discouraging those that yield negative ones. This school of thought becomes particularly relevant within the academic sphere, and raises questions about what sort of influences contribute to and detract from academic achievement. What can parents and educators do to ensure that students have the best possible chances of meeting their academic potential? How is this experience different between different ethnic groups? A common discussion within Psychology is whether personality and behavior can be more accurately contributed to nature (the genetic tendency for a person to act or appear in a certain way) or nurture (the effect of environment and upbringing). Regarding academic performance, will people who are naturally more intelligent, focused, or perfectionistic always do better in school than those who are not? Alternatively, can the right opportunities and support system make up for deficits in the aforementioned areas? It is safe to say that neither of these statements are entirely true for every person, and that both nature and nurture play a role in academic achievement. Urie Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory contributes to the significance of the nurture role, and explores the relationship between a person s environment and their development. He suggests that development can be explained only when environment is understood as a whole. Just as environmental ecosystems can be organized from specific to broad (organism, ...
