Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health
Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health
Large disparities exist between minorities and the rest of Americans in major areas of health. Even
though the overall health of the nation is improving, minorities suffer from certain diseases up to
five times more than the rest of the nation. President Clinton has committed the nation to
eliminating the disparities in six areas of health by the Year 2010, and the Department of Health
and Human Services (HHS) will be jumping in on this huge battle. The six areas are: Infant
Mortality, Cancer Screening and Management, Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, HIV Infection and
AIDS, and Child and Adult Immunizations.
Infant mortality is considered a worldwide indicator of a nation s health ... Show more content on

Only 71% of black and Hispanic women received prenatal care compared with 84% of White
women.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than 544,000 people
each year. Minority groups suffer more from cancer than any other group. Black men and women
have a cancer death rate about 35% higher than whites and the death rate for cancer in black men is
almost 50% higher than white men. The death rate of lung cancer among blacks is about 27%
higher than for whites. Also, the incidence rate for lung cancer in black men is 50% higher than in
white men.
Cardiovascular disease, mainly coronary heart disease and stroke, is the leading cause of death
among all racial and ethnic groups in the United States. A disproportionate number of people in
minority and low income populations die or become disabled from cardiovascular disease. The
death rate for coronary heart disease for the nation decreased by 20% from 1987 to 1995, but for
blacks, the overall decrease was only 13 percent. The coronary heart disease mortality rate for
Asian Americans was 40% lower than whites, but 40% higher for blacks in 1995. High blood
pressure and hypertension can increase the risk for coronary heart disease, and it has been shown
that racial minorities have higher rates of hypertension, tend to develop hypertension at an earlier
age, and are less likely to receive treatment for high blood pressure. Also, only 50% of American
Indians, 44% of Asian

Essay on Community Oriented Policing (COP)
Introduction The police are usually charged with the great responsibility of ensuring that citizens
are living quality lives that are free of crime and fear. In order to perform this duty effectively,
the police need accurate and deeper knowledge of the citizens and issues they encounter in their
daily lives. This knowledge will not be easy to come by if the policework independently from the
citizens. Over the last several decades, police agencies have been working to gain the respect and
the cooperation of the communities they serve. Community Oriented Policing was introduced to
bring a closer working relationship between the citizens and the police.

Community Oriented Policing (COP) is a concept that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this cooperation, it is possible to modify the environments that promote criminal behaviors.
The concept of COP is almost similar to that of Problem Oriented Policing (POP) apart from a few
differences. POP is a concept that involves critically examining pieces of community issues with
the aim of learning something new from the problem identified that will lead to more effective
strategies for dealing with crime (Zarka, 2007). POP is designed to identify and eliminate causes of
reoccurring crime and disorder that harm the community. Just like COP, the main goals of POP are
to reduce crime and maintain social order. POP replaces the traditional incident driven policing
strategies and, therefore, gave rise to the concept of Community policing (Reno Police Department,
1992).
COP and POP designs involve a more open relationship between the citizens and the police with the
aim of giving the police a more proactive role in community issues (Mirsky, 2009). Under
community policing, police are empowered to engage citizens in providing solutions to community
s problems. COP involves tactics such as foot and bike patrol, mini stations, and beat meetings
among many others. It also entails changes in police and community structures among a few other
external changes. These may include formation of community squad division and geographical
organization.
COP and POP recognize that crime may be associated to micro social

The Study Of Gender Inequality
The Study of Gender Inequality in Islamic Iran
Early in the term I read the book Iran Awakening by Shirin Ebadi and grew fascinated with her
account of life in Iran before, during, and after the Islamic Revolution. In this touching memoir, she
describes the 1979 revolutionary takeover of Ayatollah Khomeini, who overthrew the shah and
established an Islamic State, fusing together religious and political life. The result was a unique
combination of theocratic and democratic authority, completely unprecedented in history. Through
the implementation of sharia law, the new regime took a country which had been gradually
westernizing and forced upon it a process of complete and immediate Islamization, much to the
detriment of women who, since that time, have fallen victim to institutionalized gender inequality
and oppression. Through this rich and compelling story, I became interested in the relationship
between religion and gender inequality in Iran.
In order to gain a full understanding of the position of women in Islamic Iran, researchers have used
legal analysis, in depth interviews, content analysis, and sociodemographic data to study women s
status through a variety of perspectives. Over time, they have uncovered patterns in education,
employment, reproductive health, and women s legal rights and obligations, which testify to a
deeply embedded culture of institutionalized gender inequality. At the same time, many have been
surprised to discover a strong and resilient

The Social Security Act ( Ssa ) Of President Franklin D....
Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend
seems to be toward an increasing percentage of the American public, across party and
demographic lines, in favor of strengthening Social Security funding, and a willingness to pay more
to preserve and even improve benefits. However, what is not clear is whether Americans favor
privatization of Social Securitybecause of fears that the Social Security Trust Fund is living on
borrowed time.
The Social Security Act (SSA) of 1935 was drafted during the Great Depression as part of President
Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal. The SSA was an attempt to limit what were seen as dangers in
the American life, including old age, poverty,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2003, Congress added a prescription drug benefit to Medicare (Edwards 431, 540). Since the
Social Security Act was signed into law, many politicians have advocated for privatizing Social
Security, even though Americans are in favor of Social Security and wish to strengthen the program.
The American public strongly supports Social Security, across party and demographic lines. A
January 2013, National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) study, Strengthening Social
Security: What Do Americans Want?, found that Americans overwhelmingly support Social
Security and are willing to pay more to preserve and improve benefits. With more than 59

Security as a critical program. A large majority of Americans say they do not mind paying Social
Security taxes because of the stability and security the benefits provide. These findings hold
true across party lines, those polled included 87% of Democrats, 72% of Republicans, and 81%

Vibrio Cholera Essay
Vibrio cholerae, the Human Immune System, and Vaccines
Cholera remains a drastically severe disease, killing hundreds of people each outbreak. When
ingested, it attaches to the mucosal lining of the intestines and disrupts the normal flow of ions so
that there is more sodium, chloride, and water in the intestinal lumen than normal and results in
massive diarrhea. Cholera has made a global impact and been endemic in almost all parts of the
world. Cholera control strongly emphasizes sanitation, clean drinking water, isolation, and careful
food preparation. Two ways our body works against cholera as a self limiting disease are sloughing
cells and the secretory immunoglobulin (sIgA) antibody produced by mucus throughout our body.
There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the mucosa itself does not appear to be damaged by CT, the net flow of Na+ into
tissue is decreased and the net flow of Cl and water out of tissue is increased so as a result, there
is more Na+, Cl , and water in the lumen than there should be. This leads to massive diarrhea and
great electrolyte imbalance. A patient with severe cholera can lose up to 20L of water a day
(Salyers A., Abigail, 141). At times, diarrhea becomes so dilute it is almost clear, containing
flecks of mucus that it is called rice water stool because of its watery consistency (Salyers A.,
Abigail, 142). This rapid rate of water loss and dehydration is tremendously fatal. At its most
extreme, symptoms emerge in 3 4 hours, previously healthy patients can die within 6 8 hours of
infection, and more commonly go into shock 6 12 hours after infection and die within 18 hours
(Weekly Epidemiological Record, 6). Cholera s level of severity is very life threatening and
remains a big problem even in our world today. Almost 100 countries worldwide are still affected
by cholera and it s virtually impossible to completely prevent an outbreak. If left alone, this rapidly
infectious disease can cause many fatalities. However, improved methods for surveillance,
diagnosis, and treatment, paired with higher standards of sanitation and personal

Mobile Ad Hoc Network Is The Routing Protocol Design
An important issue for mobile ad hoc network is the routing protocol design. Due to frequent
changes in the topology of the network this becomes a major technical challenge. Node failures
and link breakages in the network may cause loss of the network resources. In signal strength
based AODV, protocol measures signal strength between nodes and compare with RSSI
threshold values. If it is greater than threshold value then it is accepted for further processing
otherwise it is discarded. If it will not find any route between source and destination then it will
switch to normal AODV which selects route on the basis of minimum hop count. The benefit of
this scheme is by selecting a strong route to the destination we can increase the lifetime of the
network. Ehsan Mostajerani [2] proposed I AODV. On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is one
of the ad hoc routing protocols utilized in MANET and VANET. Ad hoc routing protocols are
categorized into Table driven and On demand. On Demand routing protocols find their
destinations based on the process of flooding a request to neighbors searching for their
destinations. Neighbors of nodes are detected based on the neighbor discovery method, which
periodically broadcasts HELLO messages to detect available neighbors at time. Generating routing
packets and neighbor discovery messages produce high overhead in the On Demand routing
protocol, such as AODV. In order to overcome overhead issues, a novel scheme in Ad hoc

The sport of ice hockey is a family affair. This is something that Peter Belisle learned at an early
age. Belisle s father, a coaching legend, turned the Belisle name into a hockey empire in New
England through hockey camps and programs for players and top draft recruitment for the National
Hockey League. Belisle himself spent his high schoolcareer playing for his father s team at Mount
Saint Charles Academy in Rhode Island where he helped to lead the Mounties to two state
championships as well as a national championship. Belisle was lucky enough to play under the
coaching of his father, Bill, and older brother, Dave.

A Catastrophe of Pandemic Proportions Essay
A Catastrophe of Pandemic Proportions
A Catastrophe of Pandemic Proportions
It is the year 2018. The future that once looked bright is now filled with devastation. Two years
ago a small pox epidemic swept through the United States in the worst act of terrorism we have
ever seen. Due to the belief small pox was gone for good, children were no longer vaccinated. If
only we knew the enemy was manufacturing this virus as a lethal weapon to be unleashed in the
United States. I do not think even the enemy had any idea of the magnitude of death and
destruction such a simple virus could cause. The first wave killed 40% of the eastern coast. As it
swept across our nation, the main toll was children s lives. Many who survived were ... Show more

This is dangerous since a misdiagnosis is highly likely and the patient will be sent home with no
help and no alerts sent to the health department. Unfortunately, the person carrying small pox is
already contagious and spreading the virus through an entire community and beyond.
If something like the previously described event were to happen, the results could be very similar.
The problem lies in the fact that the people do not know what to do in case of a bioterrorist attack.
In the past, things have been kept secret and the public has been unable to get a grasp on what our
role is in such an event. The American society rarely hears about biological threats on our nation
and is not included on training in case such events. This is the very reason why we are in a
vulnerable spot and I fear we the people would be helpless. The other reality is, because our lack
of knowledge, the people could also make the situation worse. All it takes is for a person to
panic and flee. The can spread a virus like wildfire. Due to a long incubation period, a citizen
could in theory affect a large majority of people before systems are shown. Something we do not
normally think about is the possibility of the majority of our police officers and hospital staff being
infected in the initial wave of sickness. These are the people who are most vulnerable due to the
interactions with the community. With

Intimacy In Looking For Alaska
One hundred thirty six days before. We meet a loner, though not by choice but circumstance,
named Miles Halter. He knows there is more to the world than just the little, uneventful excuse
that has made up his years thus far. His unique hobby of memorizing last words may contribute
to Miles sense of urgency in seeking the Great Perhaps (Green 5). He needs something more,
something that challenges him. Looking for this, Miles goes to Culver Creek boarding school,
where he finds his perhaps in a girl named Alaska Young, and this is where the book Looking for
Alaska s story begins to unfold its intricate layers of narrative. Though it is possible for a middle

With these two interactions we see the differences of physical intimacy vs. emotional intimacy.
Even though Alaska and Miles where never physically intimate, besides a quick kiss, the
emotions flowing through him as it happened where much more lively and intense than when
Miles had his hog smoked (Green 129). When Alaska falls asleep atop of Miles that same night,
he says, I love you Alaska Young (Green 131). Love is something Miles never expresses for Lara
because they lacked the emotional intimacy that Alaska and Miles shared. Now whether or not
sixth graders would comprehend the complex theme of intimacy is not likely. The book requires
the reader to understand intimacy in a context pass the inert idealism of middle schoolers and
most high schoolers. Just because someone is sexually active does not mean they fully grasp the
emotional connectivity that two people romantically share. Even though a sixth grader could
definitely have the ability to read the words in this book, it s likely that a central theme needed to
understand Miles actions later in the book would go completely unnoticed by someone so young
of an age, in fact it nearly went over my own head whilst reading.
Two days after. We should have stopped her (Green 19), said Miles, two days after the deathof
Alaska Young. The girl who became his obsession, who gave him a sense of emotional intimacy,

The Golden Age of Athens
The Golden age of Athens
Fifth century Athens refers to the Greek city state of Athens in the period of roughly 480 BC 404
BC. This was a period of Athenian political hegemony, economic growth and cultural flourishing
formerly known as the Golden Age of Athens or The Age of Pericles. The period began in 480 BC
when an Athenian led coalition of city states, known as the Delian League, defeated the Persians at
Salamis. As the fifth century wore on, what started as an alliance of independent city states
gradually became an Athenian empire. Eventually, Athensabandoned the pretense of parity among
its allies and relocated the Delian League treasury from Delos to Athens, where it funded the
building of the AthenianAcropolis. With its enemies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Institutions
The magistrates
The magistrates were people who occupied a public post and formed the administration of the
Athenian state. They were submitted to rigorous public control. The magistrates were chosen
by lot, using fava beans. Black and white beans were put in a box and depending on which color
the person drew out they obtained the post or not. This was a way of eliminating the personal
influence of rich people and possible intrigues and use of favors. There were only two categories
of posts not chosen by lot, but by election in the Popular Assembly. These were strategos, or
general, and magistrate of finance. It was generally supposed that significant qualities were needed
to exercise each of those two offices. A magistrate s post did not last more than a year, including
that of the strategoi and in this sense the continued selection of Pericles year after year was an
exception. At the end of every year, a magistrate would have to give an account of his
administration and use of public finances.
The most honored posts were the ancient archontes, or archons in English. In previous ages they

Theme Of Power In Dracula
First of all, before analysing the theme, it is necessary to clarify the notion of dynamic of power .
In fact, this denotes the dialectic interaction between the subject possessing the power and the
object which is influenced by this power. In literature, this liaison is expressed by the relations
between a master and a slave. For instance, the Russian writers Dostoevsky and Tolstoy explored
the theme of the relations between a master and a slave, an oppressor and an oppressed in their
works. Since this theme has stirred the imagination of many writers, it is not surprising that the
possibility to expose this type of relations has attracted the filmmakers for the decades.
It is important to point out that such creative movement as German Expressionism ... Show more

Dracula in this film refers more to the Sympathetic Cycle (1987 present) by the classification of
Tim Kane. The films of this cycle show the vampire with more sympathetic qualities, with
thoughts, feelings, fears, and dreams. The sympathetic vampires of the recent films have
developed into misunderstood, tortured romantic figures or even ultimate romantic alpha hero.
Coppola s Dracula seems to be on the border of the Erotic and Sympathetic cycles. Seduction and
allure are still inherent to him, as well as his victims are ready to sacrifice, expecting
gratification from the master. The scenes of bite do not have sexual hints, they speak directly of
sex. For example, this is the scene when Jonathan is attacked by the Dracula s brides, who lick
and kiss him before biting, and the victim endures pain, fear and sensual pleasure. When Dracula,
transformed into a wolf, attacks Lucy, he physically copulates with her. And again, we see that
these relations develop with the consent of the victim as the attack arouses Lucy, and she
anticipates the vampire s visits. So, overall, each participant of the vampire victim s relationship is
not equal. One is superior (stronger, with a hypnotic stare and other super abilities, moreover, he is
immortal) and another is subordinate (just a human being, fragile and helpless). Nevertheless, this
inequality, the power, that a vampire, a master possesses and victim s eagerness to obey make these
relations tempting for

Curling Vs. Chess
Most people don t think about the games curling or chess much. Of those that do, most would
consider these two activities to have few to no similarities, except that neither of their
championships are going to be shown on ESPN. Curling is a game played on ice that consists of
multiple rounds, called ends, of each team taking turns sliding stones to have the most closest to the
center of a target, known as the house. Chessis a board gameplayed by two players taking turns
moving their playing pieces, each with different abilities, across a board with the goal of capturing
the opponent s king. Though these may seem like two mutually exclusive activities, they do share
one important element: they both rely heavily on strategy. The games curling... Show more content

In curling, the act of using a shot for the purpose of removing an opponent s stone from play is
known as a takeout shot. One primarily uses takeouts for the purpose of removing an opponent s
stone in scoring position from play. This can prevent the opponent from scoring during that end.
Chess also has an emphasis on removing opponents important pieces from play. Players often
take any opportunity to remove an opponent s queen or rook from play, even if removing it
results in the player losing one of their pieces. This happens because when one removes these
pieces, it makes it more difficult for the opponent to reach their final goal of capturing their
king. However, in each of these games, one may also remove an opponent s pieces used for
guarding others. In curling, one may take out the opponent s guards to make it easier for them to
place their own stones in a scoring position. In chess, a player may remove the opponent s pawns
for the for the purpose of making it easier to place the opponent s king in checkmate. In both these
games taking out the opponent s pieces clearly have important strategic benefits that help oneself as
well as making it more difficult for their opponent. Taking out an opponent s pieces shows another
tool used in each of these strategies, but these tools are only useful when one

Pablo Escobar was born at Rionegro, Columbia on December 1, 1949. He was brought up from a

mother was an elementary school teacher and his father was a farmer. The outage that he saw
how he could escape from the working class was by distributing and selling cocaine. Not only
was he a Columbian drug trafficker and drug lord, but he was also a narco terrorist. He was one
of the most ruthless person to ever live. On March 22, 2017, two retired U.S agents came to

Meanwhile, the notion of the nation was introduced to Europe in a powerful way during the

European monarchs and their representatives assembled in Vienna to chart a more peaceful order

The inconsistencies in the implementation even partly contributed to the outbreak of the Second
World War (xxx, xxx). The European powers mobilized their African subjects with propaganda
vilifying the racial supremacist ideology of the Fascist powers. This set in motion a process in
which Fascist nationalism produced the opposed reality of anti Fascism; and anti Fascism became
antiracism; and antiracism led in due course to an end of colonization (Davidson, 1992). The
result was the erasure of European colonial rule from large swathes of the African continent within
a relatively short period of time (xxx, xxx). Consequently, this led to the development of a
decolonized version of the self determination concept. The decolonization version of self
determination was based on the following three principles: i) all dependent peoples are entitled to
freedom; ii) the peoples so entitled are defined in terms of the existing colonial territories, each of
which contains a nation; and iii) once such a people has come to independence, no residual right of
self determination remains with any group within it or cutting across its frontiers (Emerson 1964).
This version of self determination had numerous implications. The concerned entities often did not

My Life In New York City
I was born and raised in New York. I lived most of my life on Long Island in a town called North
Bellmore. North Bellmore is about fifty minutes from Manhattan and you can take the Long
Island Railroad straight to the city, if you like. I did that often. New York City was second
nature to me for 27 years of my life. I worked in the city often and took the train back and forth.
Everyone did. You were lucky to find a seat. Getting back to suburbia was nice and peaceful after
a long day in downtown near wall street with the skyscrapers and rush of people. Long Island is
a suburban area a bit like Salem. It has lines of houses and towns next to each other like we do
with Keizer and Silverton. I am sure you could already imagine that there is not even as close to

Counseling, Reflection, And Setting Goals
In my first six sessions, it seemed to me the mindset of the counselor in the session is one of the
tantamount elements in dictating the outcome of the client s experience. The first session I
experienced brought on nervousness and uncertainty which led to insecurity. However, the more
time I spent listening to my client the more comfortable I became with the role of counselor. Such
feelings of comfort brought with it the ability to be more self aware and client focused in the
session. When I was uncomfortable I asked confusing questions, focused too much on how I
looked, and lost the ability to attend to my client. I believe I came into these sessions strong in my
nonverbal skills and encouragers. Nevertheless, I struggled with focused counseling, reflectionof
emotions, and setting goals. Intentionality seems to be significant in the growth process; therefore,
one of my first actions in response to these reflectionswill be to create a plan to address my
opportunities for growth. The discomfort I experienced in my first couple of sessions stemmed
from several different issues. Primarily, these feelings came from nerves. I have wanted to be an
LPC for years, and being put in the role of actually counseling made me nervous I would not
measure up. Moreover, I feared making the situation for my client worse because of something I
would say or ask. Because of these feelings, I lacked professionalism at times during my first
session. I laughed too often, and in inappropriate

Antisemitism During The Holocaust
Antisemitism has been an issue since the beginning of monotheism, yet it is a relatively modern
term. the roots of Jew hatred lie in folklore and popular prejudices dating back to antiquity.
(Caplan Web) Jews have received stereotypes from breaking the human relation with God to being
greedy and wealthy. The Jewish population has been persecuted harshly for centuries; not just in the
case of the Holocaust but in many medieval cases too. Even religions that are branched off from
Judaismhave used anti Semitic tactics. Christians in Europe during the medieval times forced Jews
to live in a ghetto and prohibited them form owning land. This caused the Jewish population to
make income by loaning money. This is where the stereotype of Jews being... Show more content on

with the creation of their own state there are still problems among them. The 1967 war between

The Pros and Cons of Life in Communist East Germany in...
On the whole, does Goodbye, Lenin paint a positive or negative picture of life in communist East
Germany?
East Germany, its demise relayed through the mass media of recent history, has in popular
consciousness been posited as negative, a corrupt bulwark of the last dying days of Communism in
Eastern Europe, barren and silent. The other Germany to its West, its citizens free, was striding
confidently ahead into the millennium. Recent cinema has sought to examine re unification, the
Wolfgang Becker film Goodbye Lenin! (2003) a recent example of such an investigation into the
past through cinema. In this essay I will look at the film and the narrative techniques it uses,

Goodbye Lenin! (2003) appropriates the individual as bound to his environment, threaded, through
strong cultural codes, to his neighbour. Regardless of the system, communist or capitalist, and
though our goals may deviate, we are all pursuing happiness and comfort, the tools used to attain
this products of that society. That said, it is immediately legible whereabouts Becker wishes us to
view the East German state as wholly negative, and he does this through several key scenes.
At the film s opening, we learn of the first East German shot into space, surely an apotheosis of
what a state can achieve, its grasp extending to the stars. But behind the curtain of this vast
achievement we can see how it is brought about through the utter bending of citizens to the states
will. Alex s mother Christiane, who we first assume the innocent of the piece, is interrogated by
the Stasi for her husband has fled the country. We learn he was unable to live with a state he
detested, the ordeal of the interrogation so testing for Christiane it sends her into a coma. Her
husband and the children?s father absent, she finds a kinship with the state, now one of its most
vociferous supporters. The absence of the father is particularly imbued with purpose. Later, Becker
seeks to equate the death of communism with the return of the father for the two are so inextricably
connected. Only when the German Democratic Republic (GDR) is laid to rest can this dark chapter

Human Improduction And The Process Of The Human...
Human Reproduction is a process in which a new human is created. It is essential because it is
needed in order to sustain our population and ensure our species survival. The male reproductive
system contributes sperm, the male sex cell, this sex cell contains 23 chromosomes. The male
reproductive system is also in charge of releasing the sperm into the female s vagina and make
sure that it reaches the female s egg. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg
cells, the female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive
system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the embryo successfully
develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in charge of making healthy sperm(male
sex cell) and making sure that it successfully reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are,
the male reproductive system is a combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous
tubules within the testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that
regulate the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that keeps
the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm matures, it is stored
in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the epididymis contracts, releasing
the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that connects the urethra and the epididymis. The
sperm then passes by 3 glands, the seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland
which provides an alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a
lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is ejaculated out the
urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s reproductive system. However the
penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile
tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the
sperm enters the vagina. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating eggs and ensuring
the development of the embryo into a fully grown fetus. Just like the male reproductive system, the

What Does Flanders Symbolize
With a sword in my hand , follows the early years of Marguerite of Male from the year 1348. The
novel displays the strange beliefs and rules which the society of Flanders followed. These
people lived by the rules of the church but they also believed in superstitions found in the living
and the non living. The people of Flanders were very religious and closely followed the rules of
the church. In the novel, one of these rules were that people as closely related as fourth cousins
could not get married. This is displayed through the Popes reply to Marguerite s letter. it appears
he has discovered, upon a thorough examination of many branches of the family tree of the world
s great nobility, that you two are cousins ... and that is forbidden by the church and by god . This
proved that Marguerite and Edmund could not get married and fulfill their holy matrimony.
Another rule found in Flanders was that a married couple could not separate until one of them died.
This meant that Marguerite was the only heir to Flanders, as her little brother Boudewijn died and
her mother could not bare her father any more children. It brings... Show more content on

Restaurant Business Report
Business report Executive summary As the world gets intricate and complex courtesy of new trends
and social waves, no sector of life seems to be left behind. The hospitality industry is faced with one
of the greatest challenges ever and all attention and focus is certainly geared toward addressing
customer satisfaction. However, without efficient information systems and proper technological
applications, the whole efforts are always insufficient or wasted. The need to upgrade systems and
improve operations is the main strategic objective of most restaurant executives. This report is
therefore an analysis of the need to apply the modern information systems in the industry and
embrace the growing usage of the point of sale system (POS) that has become the industry norm
across the world. In a way, most hoteliers and restaurant owners are confronted with unrelenting
demand to radically transform operations or to exit the market. To avoid the latter, implementation
is inevitable. Introduction In an increasingly competitive global environment, where the search for
opportunities dominates all other undertakings, where resources are less than those who seek them,
it becomes important to find ways and means of sailing through. Businesses across the world are
increasingly responding to these challenges by applying information systems to enhance
performance and efficiency in the operations. The major objective lies in producing high quality
goods at the lowest possible cost. As

Women, Law, and Equality Essay
In the past 3 decades, women made great advancements in the workforce. First, they have become
an integral part of the labour market; they have access to higher education and consequently to
traditionally male dominated professions such as medicine, law and business. While statistics
show that women are equal to men in terms of their numbers in the law profession, it is not clear
however, whether they have achieved equality in all other areas of their employment. In this
paper, I will examine women s experiences in the law profession; whether women are earning

66).
Women have demonstrated that they possess the academic capability to go through law school. For
example Clara Brett Martin, the first woman to become a lawyer , had essentially paved the way
for the following generations to be accepted into the law profession, however, many of the barriers
that she had to face are still in existence, starting with the male attitudes towards women lawyers to
hiring discriminatory practices in firms and general cultural attitudes towards the role of women
lawyer.
Historically women have had to fight to get equal access to the profession and to the practice of law
however, as late as the 1970 women were refused partnerships within firm even after they have
demonstrated that they are capable of doing the job. For example, Judge Carolyn king who had
practiced corporate law for 10 years at one of the highly established firm, and according to her
account had a great experience and her career path proceeded exactly like the career paths of men,
was refused partnership simply because she was a woman. She was told later that the possibility of
her getting pregnant and taking parental leave was the main reason for being refused partnership
(Jackson, 2006). While legislations have been put now to ensure that discrimination on the basis of
sex is illegal, researchers agree that systemic discrimination, which is largely unintentional still exist
at all levels and its impact touches on women s inability to reach high ranking positions

back to Americans too. For instance, the Social Security Act (SSA) provided many citizens with a

Analysis Of From Russia With Love
From Russia With Love (1963), directed by Terence Young is the second film in the James Bond
movie franchise. Sean Connery and Robert Shaw headline the film s actors. This film is a spy
thriller with twists and turns and puts James Bond into a position of entrapment and must use his
brains to escape and get back to England alive. From Russia With Love is a timeless classic
through its new standards of filmmaking and characters. This movie also sets the tone for the rest
of the James Bondseries.
The first reason why this film is a classic is because of the introduction of spy gadgets for James
Bond. Bond today is partly known for his use of gadgets to get out of tough situations. This is the
first Bond film that uses these.
When Bond is getting orders to go to Turkey for his mission, he is brought a briefcase that has
hidden knives on the sides and has to be open a different way than normal in order for the opener
of the case not to be sprayed with tear gas. These tools will help him later in the film multiple
when he is in the face of danger.
This scene sets the tone not for just this film but for the many other popular movies of this
franchise through the use of gadgets. A large reason why many people enjoy James Bond is
because of astonishing use of these tools. With help of these gadgets, this movie can be considered
a classic because of the memorable fights in the film.
As with all spy films, there are going to be fight to the death scenes. Although it is predictable
who will win in these films, directors can still make these scenes very suspenseful and exciting.
Young does this exactly in this film with a very memorable fight scene that could be considered
one of the best of all films.
Bond seems to be trapped for good this time when he is in the train car with Donald Grant who
was a gun pointed at Bond. Bond starts talking to Grant and eventually convinces Grant to take
the 50 gold sovereigns. When Grant opens the briefcase, which is given to Bond with spy gadgets,
he is met with a plume of tear gas. This starts the fight as Bond gets up to take the gun. A fight
ensues, going across the small train car and eventually making Bond the winner by killing Grant.

Essay on De Tocqueville
Alexis De Tocqueville, Democracy in America
Aristocracy is a phenomenon that is perhaps as natural a summer crop, and as devastating as the
locusts that eat it. De Tocqueville amp;#8217;s position on aristocracy is quite clear. He is a
strong advocate of the aristocracy, it is a part of the natural order and necessary. His position may
have some basis, however I have yet to see the amp;#8220;upside ; of a caste system or a good
defense of it.
De Tocqueville believes that aristocracy provides stability and fellowship. De Tocqueville

A community bound by social class is often referred to as a slaving society. The people at the

The aristocracy is amp;#8220;closely attached to something placed out of their own sphere, ; is
another idea that De Tocqueville had of the aristocracy. In reality, the aristocracy probably had
very little to do with anything outside of their amp;#8220;sphere ;. He also claims that

Deadly Debris Humans tend to think of space as infinite, that is true as far as we can tell,
however the space around Earth is not infinite. After the Space race began in the late 1950 s
countries began sending satellites into space for various purposes. Today these Satellites are
very important to everyday life, but there is a looming problem that has often been overlooked.
Low Earth orbit, where most satellites and spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of
many old and decaying satellites. Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in
space and could eventually make low Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi
paper I am currently working on is a story about a group of astronauts in the near future who are
returning from mining an asteroid. In this story it is much like the moon landings in that people
were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now. These are just routine missions that hardly
anyone knows or cares about. This all changes however when two satellites in high orbit on Earth
collide, one being a communication satellite with the astronauts. The unaware astronauts, now
returning to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is
unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is hit. Now adrift in space the
astronauts struggle to survive in the most hostile environment for humans. There are over five

having a solid financial foundation will be key to the company s future success. Gemini s strategy
to achieve its mission involves providing customers with a wide variety and selection of footwear
options while also providing them a durable, long lasting shoe. Gemini s strategy can best be
compared to the Broad Differentiation Strategy mentioned in our book. The major differentiator for
Gemini would be the number of models the company offers.
Successes, mistakes, challenges, risks associated with the strategy Over the course of the
simulation, Gemini has achieved a fair degree of success implementing its strategy and achieving
some of its mission objectives. For example, the company has consistently been in the top three
performers of the industry, has been able to issue dividends to shareholders consistently, and has
payed off all debt. Although Gemini has been able to achieve success with its strategy, some

Judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The...
Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the
first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The
two postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that
society oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place
specific motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgmenton the
reader. However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly.
Shaffer tends to use judgment of the self while Camus leans towards judgment of others, but the
judgment ultimately leads back to people who do not conform to the norm.... Show more content on

The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the
jurors leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in
The Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate
both texts with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and
Meursault through their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the
lack of passion in himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love
for the wild and primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own
eternal timidity (2.25). This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is
opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his
patients, specifically Alan. Unlike Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges
himself for becoming a person who removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever
be considered normal and as the play continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing
him. Dysart s specific speeches about how he hates himself for becoming impassionate and
removing the passion in his patients contrast with society s normal views. These rants, because they

Technology In Fashion
Abstract
As the power of science and technology merge together, society lifestyles have been altered
profoundly. In the mid 1900s, the science community was convinced that body worn technology
would be a hit. Most developments can be found to be very little and all of the few consumer
products so far have not been very successful. The first part of the thesis illustrates why this is the
case and presents examples that why smart clothing could be a part of everyday life. The second
part shows research on how the smart clothing industry has the potential to expand. It supports a
sustainable lifestyle by showing the pros and cons of the fashion design,
Introduction
In today s society the evolution of smartphones and tablets, and wearable technology has been a
huge leader in the consumer s electronic market (Berkeley University of California). Electronic
textiles, also known as smart garments, smart clothing, smart textiles or smart fabrics refers to
technology embedded into their fabric. Many technologists are using a wide range of sensors to
provide consumers with more information and data about their body and lives than ever before.
Despite the rapid growth of wearable technology in fitness tracker and smartwatch categories other
categories are lacking in growth and sell. So far, smart clothing can be mostly found in certain
markets such as, healthcare, sports or the military. It has not yet made it mainstream in big
consumer markets but as advancements occur smart

For example, Miss Celie at a young age is affected by a challenge that she faces and transforms to

Celie winked at a boy in her church and gets beat by her father; she insist that she didn t wink at

Walker). Since Celie has negative experiences with men she is only used to the positive

Celie faces the challenge of having and Abusive father who doesn t have respect for her. By not

Sophia didn t grow up to obey men; so they get into intense arguments and fights. When Sophia
is talking to Miss Celie she says: I don t like to go to bed with him no more... Now I feels tired
all the time. No Interest (66 Walker). Sophia doesn t find Interest in her marriage because of
how Harpo treats her. The challenge she is facing is a husband doesn t have respect for her and

  • 2. Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Large disparities exist between minorities and the rest of Americans in major areas of health. Even though the overall health of the nation is improving, minorities suffer from certain diseases up to five times more than the rest of the nation. President Clinton has committed the nation to eliminating the disparities in six areas of health by the Year 2010, and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will be jumping in on this huge battle. The six areas are: Infant Mortality, Cancer Screening and Management, Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, HIV Infection and AIDS, and Child and Adult Immunizations. Infant mortality is considered a worldwide indicator of a nation s health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only 71% of black and Hispanic women received prenatal care compared with 84% of White women. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than 544,000 people each year. Minority groups suffer more from cancer than any other group. Black men and women have a cancer death rate about 35% higher than whites and the death rate for cancer in black men is almost 50% higher than white men. The death rate of lung cancer among blacks is about 27% higher than for whites. Also, the incidence rate for lung cancer in black men is 50% higher than in white men. Cardiovascular disease, mainly coronary heart disease and stroke, is the leading cause of death among all racial and ethnic groups in the United States. A disproportionate number of people in minority and low income populations die or become disabled from cardiovascular disease. The death rate for coronary heart disease for the nation decreased by 20% from 1987 to 1995, but for blacks, the overall decrease was only 13 percent. The coronary heart disease mortality rate for Asian Americans was 40% lower than whites, but 40% higher for blacks in 1995. High blood pressure and hypertension can increase the risk for coronary heart disease, and it has been shown that racial minorities have higher rates of hypertension, tend to develop hypertension at an earlier age, and are less likely to receive treatment for high blood pressure. • 3. Essay on Community Oriented Policing (COP) Introduction The police are usually charged with the great responsibility of ensuring that citizens are living quality lives that are free of crime and fear. In order to perform this duty effectively, the police need accurate and deeper knowledge of the citizens and issues they encounter in their daily lives. This knowledge will not be easy to come by if the policework independently from the citizens. Over the last several decades, police agencies have been working to gain the respect and the cooperation of the communities they serve. Community Oriented Policing was introduced to bring a closer working relationship between the citizens and the police. Community Oriented Policing Community Oriented Policing (COP) is a concept that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through this cooperation, it is possible to modify the environments that promote criminal behaviors. The concept of COP is almost similar to that of Problem Oriented Policing (POP) apart from a few differences. POP is a concept that involves critically examining pieces of community issues with the aim of learning something new from the problem identified that will lead to more effective strategies for dealing with crime (Zarka, 2007). POP is designed to identify and eliminate causes of reoccurring crime and disorder that harm the community. Just like COP, the main goals of POP are to reduce crime and maintain social order. POP replaces the traditional incident driven policing strategies and, therefore, gave rise to the concept of Community policing (Reno Police Department, 1992). COP and POP designs involve a more open relationship between the citizens and the police with the aim of giving the police a more proactive role in community issues (Mirsky, 2009). Under community policing, police are empowered to engage citizens in providing solutions to community s problems. COP involves tactics such as foot and bike patrol, mini stations, and beat meetings among many others. It also entails changes in police and community structures among a few other external changes. These may include formation of community squad division and geographical organization. COP and POP recognize that crime may be associated to micro social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Study Of Gender Inequality The Study of Gender Inequality in Islamic Iran Early in the term I read the book Iran Awakening by Shirin Ebadi and grew fascinated with her account of life in Iran before, during, and after the Islamic Revolution. In this touching memoir, she describes the 1979 revolutionary takeover of Ayatollah Khomeini, who overthrew the shah and established an Islamic State, fusing together religious and political life. The result was a unique combination of theocratic and democratic authority, completely unprecedented in history. Through the implementation of sharia law, the new regime took a country which had been gradually westernizing and forced upon it a process of complete and immediate Islamization, much to the detriment of women who, since that time, have fallen victim to institutionalized gender inequality and oppression. Through this rich and compelling story, I became interested in the relationship between religion and gender inequality in Iran. In order to gain a full understanding of the position of women in Islamic Iran, researchers have used legal analysis, in depth interviews, content analysis, and sociodemographic data to study women s status through a variety of perspectives. Over time, they have uncovered patterns in education, employment, reproductive health, and women s legal rights and obligations, which testify to a deeply embedded culture of institutionalized gender inequality. At the same time, many have been surprised to discover a strong and resilient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Social Security Act ( Ssa ) Of President Franklin D.... Debates over Social Security have been ongoing since its inception in 1935 until today. The trend seems to be toward an increasing percentage of the American public, across party and demographic lines, in favor of strengthening Social Security funding, and a willingness to pay more to preserve and even improve benefits. However, what is not clear is whether Americans favor privatization of Social Securitybecause of fears that the Social Security Trust Fund is living on borrowed time. The Social Security Act (SSA) of 1935 was drafted during the Great Depression as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal. The SSA was an attempt to limit what were seen as dangers in the American life, including old age, poverty,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The American public strongly supports Social Security, across party and demographic lines. A January 2013, National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) study, Strengthening Social Security: What Do Americans Want?, found that Americans overwhelmingly support Social Security and are willing to pay more to preserve and improve benefits. With more than 59 million or 18% of Americans receiving Social Security benefits, Americans recognize Social Security as a critical program. A large majority of Americans say they do not mind paying Social Security taxes because of the stability and security the benefits provide. These findings hold true across party lines, those polled included 87% of Democrats, 72% of Republicans, and 81% of Independents. 73% of Americans are also willing to pay for Social Security because they value it for themselves and their families. 85% of Americans say Social Security is more important than ever to ensure that the elderly and disabled have dependable income. • 6. Vibrio Cholera Essay Vibrio cholerae, the Human Immune System, and Vaccines Cholera remains a drastically severe disease, killing hundreds of people each outbreak. When ingested, it attaches to the mucosal lining of the intestines and disrupts the normal flow of ions so that there is more sodium, chloride, and water in the intestinal lumen than normal and results in massive diarrhea. Cholera has made a global impact and been endemic in almost all parts of the world. Cholera control strongly emphasizes sanitation, clean drinking water, isolation, and careful food preparation. Two ways our body works against cholera as a self limiting disease are sloughing cells and the secretory immunoglobulin (sIgA) antibody produced by mucus throughout our body. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the mucosa itself does not appear to be damaged by CT, the net flow of Na+ into tissue is decreased and the net flow of Cl and water out of tissue is increased so as a result, there is more Na+, Cl , and water in the lumen than there should be. This leads to massive diarrhea and great electrolyte imbalance. A patient with severe cholera can lose up to 20L of water a day (Salyers A., Abigail, 141). At times, diarrhea becomes so dilute it is almost clear, containing flecks of mucus that it is called rice water stool because of its watery consistency (Salyers A., Abigail, 142). This rapid rate of water loss and dehydration is tremendously fatal. At its most extreme, symptoms emerge in 3 4 hours, previously healthy patients can die within 6 8 hours of infection, and more commonly go into shock 6 12 hours after infection and die within 18 hours (Weekly Epidemiological Record, 6). Cholera s level of severity is very life threatening and remains a big problem even in our world today. Almost 100 countries worldwide are still affected by cholera and it s virtually impossible to completely prevent an outbreak. If left alone, this rapidly infectious disease can cause many fatalities. • 7. Mobile Ad Hoc Network Is The Routing Protocol Design An important issue for mobile ad hoc network is the routing protocol design. Due to frequent changes in the topology of the network this becomes a major technical challenge. Node failures and link breakages in the network may cause loss of the network resources. In signal strength based AODV, protocol measures signal strength between nodes and compare with RSSI threshold values. If it is greater than threshold value then it is accepted for further processing otherwise it is discarded. If it will not find any route between source and destination then it will switch to normal AODV which selects route on the basis of minimum hop count. The benefit of this scheme is by selecting a strong route to the destination we can increase the lifetime of the network. Ehsan Mostajerani [2] proposed I AODV. On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is one of the ad hoc routing protocols utilized in MANET and VANET. Ad hoc routing protocols are categorized into Table driven and On demand. On Demand routing protocols find their destinations based on the process of flooding a request to neighbors searching for their destinations. Neighbors of nodes are detected based on the neighbor discovery method, which periodically broadcasts HELLO messages to detect available neighbors at time. Generating routing packets and neighbor discovery messages produce high overhead in the On Demand routing protocol, such as AODV. In order to overcome overhead issues, a novel scheme in Ad hoc networks based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The future that once looked bright is now filled with devastation. Two years ago a small pox epidemic swept through the United States in the worst act of terrorism we have ever seen. Due to the belief small pox was gone for good, children were no longer vaccinated. If only we knew the enemy was manufacturing this virus as a lethal weapon to be unleashed in the United States. Unfortunately, the person carrying small pox is already contagious and spreading the virus through an entire community and beyond. If something like the previously described event were to happen, the results could be very similar. The problem lies in the fact that the people do not know what to do in case of a bioterrorist attack. In the past, things have been kept secret and the public has been unable to get a grasp on what our role is in such an event. The American society rarely hears about biological threats on our nation and is not included on training in case such events. This is the very reason why we are in a vulnerable spot and I fear we the people would be helpless. The other reality is, because our lack of knowledge, the people could also make the situation worse. All it takes is for a person to panic and flee. The can spread a virus like wildfire. Due to a long incubation period, a citizen could in theory affect a large majority of people before systems are shown. Something we do not normally think about is the possibility of the majority of our police officers and hospital staff being infected in the initial wave of sickness. When Alaska falls asleep atop of Miles that same night, he says, I love you Alaska Young (Green 131). This was a period of Athenian political hegemony, economic growth and cultural flourishing formerly known as the Golden Age of Athens or The Age of Pericles. The period began in 480 BC when an Athenian led coalition of city states, known as the Delian League, defeated the Persians at Salamis. As the fifth century wore on, what started as an alliance of independent city states gradually became an Athenian empire. Institutions The magistrates The magistrates were people who occupied a public post and formed the administration of the Athenian state. They were submitted to rigorous public control. The magistrates were chosen by lot, using fava beans. Black and white beans were put in a box and depending on which color the person drew out they obtained the post or not. This was a way of eliminating the personal influence of rich people and possible intrigues and use of favors. There were only two categories of posts not chosen by lot, but by election in the Popular Assembly. These were strategos, or general, and magistrate of finance. It was generally supposed that significant qualities were needed to exercise each of those two offices. A magistrate s post did not last more than a year, including that of the strategoi and in this sense the continued selection of Pericles year after year was an exception. • 13. Theme Of Power In Dracula First of all, before analysing the theme, it is necessary to clarify the notion of dynamic of power . In fact, this denotes the dialectic interaction between the subject possessing the power and the object which is influenced by this power. In literature, this liaison is expressed by the relations between a master and a slave. For instance, the Russian writers Dostoevsky and Tolstoy explored the theme of the relations between a master and a slave, an oppressor and an oppressed in their works. Since this theme has stirred the imagination of many writers, it is not surprising that the possibility to expose this type of relations has attracted the filmmakers for the decades. Dracula in this film refers more to the Sympathetic Cycle (1987 present) by the classification of Tim Kane. The films of this cycle show the vampire with more sympathetic qualities, with thoughts, feelings, fears, and dreams. The sympathetic vampires of the recent films have developed into misunderstood, tortured romantic figures or even ultimate romantic alpha hero. Coppola s Dracula seems to be on the border of the Erotic and Sympathetic cycles. Seduction and allure are still inherent to him, as well as his victims are ready to sacrifice, expecting gratification from the master. The scenes of bite do not have sexual hints, they speak directly of sex. For example, this is the scene when Jonathan is attacked by the Dracula s brides, who lick and kiss him before biting, and the victim endures pain, fear and sensual pleasure. When Dracula, transformed into a wolf, attacks Lucy, he physically copulates with her. And again, we see that these relations develop with the consent of the victim as the attack arouses Lucy, and she anticipates the vampire s visits. So, overall, each participant of the vampire victim s relationship is not equal. One is superior (stronger, with a hypnotic stare and other super abilities, moreover, he is immortal) and another is subordinate (just a human being, fragile and helpless). Nevertheless, this inequality, the power, that a vampire, a master possesses and victim s eagerness to obey make these relations tempting for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In curling, the act of using a shot for the purpose of removing an opponent s stone from play is known as a takeout shot. One primarily uses takeouts for the purpose of removing an opponent s stone in scoring position from play. This can prevent the opponent from scoring during that end. Chess also has an emphasis on removing opponents important pieces from play. Players often take any opportunity to remove an opponent s queen or rook from play, even if removing it results in the player losing one of their pieces. This happens because when one removes these pieces, it makes it more difficult for the opponent to reach their final goal of capturing their king. However, in each of these games, one may also remove an opponent s pieces used for guarding others. I personally do admire and respect the people that were on the hunt for Pablo Escobar. It was a dangerous mission, that they could have been killed any day. Thankfully they didn t. It was so unbelievable on how much money Pablo was making in a year, especially in a MONTH! They presented pictures on how much cocaine was found in one laboratory, out of hundreds of them. The labs is where they would pack the cocaine in plastic bags. Also, the ways on how they would smuggle the cocaine were unbelievable. Who would have ever thought of looking in a fruit for drugs? That was really impressive. The way how he would have people killed was extremely viscous! People s bodies would be tortured and ripped apart. After Napoleon was finally subdued, European monarchs and their representatives assembled in Vienna to chart a more peaceful order for themselves (xxx, xxx). The inconsistencies in the implementation even partly contributed to the outbreak of the Second World War (xxx, xxx). The European powers mobilized their African subjects with propaganda vilifying the racial supremacist ideology of the Fascist powers. This set in motion a process in which Fascist nationalism produced the opposed reality of anti Fascism; and anti Fascism became antiracism; and antiracism led in due course to an end of colonization (Davidson, 1992). The result was the erasure of European colonial rule from large swathes of the African continent within a relatively short period of time (xxx, xxx). Consequently, this led to the development of a decolonized version of the self determination concept. The decolonization version of self determination was based on the following three principles: i) all dependent peoples are entitled to freedom; ii) the peoples so entitled are defined in terms of the existing colonial territories, each of which contains a nation; and iii) once such a people has come to independence, no residual right of self determination remains with any group within it or cutting across its frontiers (Emerson 1964). North Bellmore is about fifty minutes from Manhattan and you can take the Long Island Railroad straight to the city, if you like. I did that often. New York City was second nature to me for 27 years of my life. I worked in the city often and took the train back and forth. Everyone did. You were lucky to find a seat. Getting back to suburbia was nice and peaceful after a long day in downtown near wall street with the skyscrapers and rush of people. Long Island is a suburban area a bit like Salem. It has lines of houses and towns next to each other like we do with Keizer and Silverton. I am sure you could already imagine that there is not even as close to as many trees as there are here and there are no farms. Trees are planted sparsely down the streets so that each block may have four or five constructed by the town in designated spots. We did have lawns. Moving from Queens, NY when I was six, I remember how strange I thought a lawn was. There are no lawns in Queens. I lived in Queens until my Mother got remarried. We have four seasons in New York. They are very defined. You also have hurricanes and they can be very serious. Blizzards are a big thing with sometimes many feet of snow. Counseling, Reflection, And Setting Goals In my first six sessions, it seemed to me the mindset of the counselor in the session is one of the tantamount elements in dictating the outcome of the client s experience. The first session I experienced brought on nervousness and uncertainty which led to insecurity. However, the more time I spent listening to my client the more comfortable I became with the role of counselor. Such feelings of comfort brought with it the ability to be more self aware and client focused in the session. When I was uncomfortable I asked confusing questions, focused too much on how I looked, and lost the ability to attend to my client. I believe I came into these sessions strong in my nonverbal skills and encouragers. Nevertheless, I struggled with focused counseling, reflectionof emotions, and setting goals. Intentionality seems to be significant in the growth process; therefore, one of my first actions in response to these reflectionswill be to create a plan to address my opportunities for growth. The discomfort I experienced in my first couple of sessions stemmed from several different issues. Primarily, these feelings came from nerves. I have wanted to be an LPC for years, and being put in the role of actually counseling made me nervous I would not measure up. Moreover, I feared making the situation for my client worse because of something I would say or ask. Because of these feelings, I lacked professionalism at times during my first session. Regardless of the system, communist or capitalist, and though our goals may deviate, we are all pursuing happiness and comfort, the tools used to attain this products of that society. That said, it is immediately legible whereabouts Becker wishes us to view the East German state as wholly negative, and he does this through several key scenes. At the film s opening, we learn of the first East German shot into space, surely an apotheosis of what a state can achieve, its grasp extending to the stars. But behind the curtain of this vast achievement we can see how it is brought about through the utter bending of citizens to the states will. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg cells, the female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the embryo successfully develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in charge of making healthy sperm(male sex cell) and making sure that it successfully reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are, the male reproductive system is a combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous tubules within the testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that regulate the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that keeps the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm matures, it is stored in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the epididymis contracts, releasing the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that connects the urethra and the epididymis. The sperm then passes by 3 glands, the seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland which provides an alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is ejaculated out the urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s reproductive system. However the penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the sperm enters the vagina. De Tocqueville amp;#8217;s position on aristocracy is quite clear. He is a strong advocate of the aristocracy, it is a part of the natural order and necessary. His position may have some basis, however I have yet to see the amp;#8220;upside ; of a caste system or a good defense of it. De Tocqueville believes that aristocracy provides stability and fellowship. De Tocqueville amp;#8217;s support of aristocracy is weak and ill founded. A community bound by social class is often referred to as a slaving society. The people at the bottom of this system are indebted to those above with nowhere else to turn. The man who is bound to another of a higher class is most likely to be exploited, for in an aristocratic society one has only the aristocrats to turn to for justice. Unfortunately, a man needs justice most when he is mistreated by the aristocracy. The aristocracy is amp;#8220;closely attached to something placed out of their own sphere, ; is another idea that De Tocqueville had of the aristocracy. In reality, the aristocracy probably had very little to do with anything outside of their amp;#8220;sphere ;. He also claims that amp;#8220;they are often disposed to forget themselves. ;. If aristocrats thought about anything besides themselves, then perhaps they would have eased some of the suffering in the world. They could not know or care about anything that was not in their immediate world. These companies have been able to provide services at a price that is reasonable and allows consumers to relax and limit their stress levels. One of the main issues that can arise in this industry is that the companies can lose sight of the customer experience. What I mean by this is that hyper growth companies achieve growth by growing users. How do you grow users? You focus the majority of your efforts on application development and make your platform as user friendly as possible. This is great for those who try out the application but becomes a problem for those who end up using it frequently. What happens when you have an issue with the car you rented out? Review Of The Sci Fi Ben Moulton Erika Harnett ESS 102 AA 15 Apr. 2016 Deadly Debris Humans tend to think of space as infinite, that is true as far as we can tell, however the space around Earth is not infinite. After the Space race began in the late 1950 s countries began sending satellites into space for various purposes. Today these Satellites are very important to everyday life, but there is a looming problem that has often been overlooked. Low Earth orbit, where most satellites and spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of many old and decaying satellites. Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in space and could eventually make low Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi paper I am currently working on is a story about a group of astronauts in the near future who are returning from mining an asteroid. In this story it is much like the moon landings in that people were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now. These are just routine missions that hardly anyone knows or cares about. This all changes however when two satellites in high orbit on Earth collide, one being a communication satellite with the astronauts. The unaware astronauts, now returning to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is hit. Now adrift in space the astronauts struggle to survive in the most hostile environment for humans. There are over five hundred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal judgment in Peter Shaffer s Equus and Albert Camus The Stranger, though internal in the first and external in the latter, mirrors society s judgment of those who differ from the norm. The two postmodernist authors both use judgment as a tool to promote the postmodern idea that society oppresses and criticizes people who are not like everyone else. Camus and Shaffer place specific motifs and elements into their novels in order to push the idea of societal judgmenton the reader. However, while the ideas may be the same, Camus and Shaffer use them contrastingly. Shaffer tends to use judgment of the self while Camus leans towards judgment of others, but the judgment ultimately leads back to people who do not conform to the norm.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The combination of the setting of a trial, the inspection of Meursault, and the anonymity of the jurors leads to an unmistakable sense of external evaluation and consequently societal judgment in The Stranger. Camus and Shaffer use these physical elements in their works in order to permeate both texts with a sense of societal criticism. Shaffer and Camus pass judgment on Dysart and Meursault through their lack and removal of passion. In Equus, Dysart specifically mentions the lack of passion in himself. When speaking to Hesther, Dysart criticizes himself for his fake love for the wild and primitive. He states, I settled for being pallid and provincial, out of my own eternal timidity (2.25). This statement, just a small part of the entire rant against himself, is opposed by Hesther. Dysart, as a psychiatrist, tries to remove emotion and individuality from his patients, specifically Alan. Unlike Hesther, who sees psychiatry as removing pain, Dysart judges himself for becoming a person who removes uniqueness. Alan contains too much emotion to ever be considered normal and as the play continues Dysart becomes more and more opposed to fixing him. Dysart s specific speeches about how he hates himself for becoming impassionate and removing the passion in his patients contrast with society s normal views. These rants, because they are in ...
