Michael Zomber Research Paper
There are many ways to brush up on your history and some options are decidedly more interesting
than others. The average individual may not consider history as their favorite subject in school,
however, Michael Zomber might disagree. If you have spent any time in the antique arms arena you
will probably have heard of Michael Zomber. Unlike some antique collectors Michael has devoted
decades of his time and effort to the actual study and preservation of historic items. Zomber does not
merely collect items and protect their integrity as he preserves them he goes much further than that as
he joins forces with others who are just as passionate as he is.Michael was born in Washington DC
and considers the outskirts of Philadelphia to be his home.

Al Seckel Visual Illusions
Al Seckel, a cognitive neuroscientist, explores the idea that a violation in our visual perception can
cause us to feel a sense of joy during a TedTalk presentation in Monterey, California on February 26,
2004. He elaborates on this idea by presenting the audience with various examples of visual illusions
concerning a violation in depth, colour, shape, size, and etc. The lecture is packed with various types
of visual illusions ranging from old to new, from artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci to Arthur Ganson
and he even included several examples of the visual illusions he has created. His hypothesis regarding
the delight in visual illusions is correct, as throughout the lecture, when presented with new visual
illusions the audience is entertained and joyful.
Textual Connections
Several connections can be drawn between the topics and types of visual illusions covered in the
textbook and the types of visual illusion shown by Al Seckel in the TedTalk lecture. One of the
connections I was able to draw from reading the chapter in the textbook regarding visual illusions and
watching the TedTalk lecture was the violation of size, accomplished by using a converging line. The
textbook shows the Ponzo Illusion, where the line closer to the converging line is perceived as being
much larger than the line farther away from the converging line (Cramer et al., 2017). Al Seckel shows
an image he has created using the Ponzo Illusion, called Pick on Someone Your Own Size (Seckel,
2007). In

Questions On Inequalities Of Gender Inequality
1. Inequalities of Gender
1. Discuss the various forms of Gender inequality
2. Choose and discuss two theoretical perspectives used to analyze gender inequality
3. Make sure to compare the perspectives and choose which one you align yourself with Kerbo (1994)
refer to gender as the socially constructed definition of what it mean to be female or male. Sex and
gender are two separate terms. Sex refers to the biological characteristics. However, gender is
completely different. Gender is socially constructed not biological. For example many times when a
baby is born male, others would say things like he s going to be strong or aggressive. These behaviors
are usually associated with male characteristics. Society places different types of behaviors, roles and
expectations on females and males. There are various types of gender inequality. For example, there is
gender inequality in work, income, occupation, and education. Work and gender is can greatly impact
individuals. The work that men and women does has a great significant impact on their status in
society. Female are more associate with home base work, while men are associated with high status
work that pays. However, many of the work that women does are seen in relation to their husbands.
Another, type of gender inequality is in relation to income. There is gap with income between men and
women. However in recent years, that gap has begun to narrow. In many societies, men are paid more
than women. In addition,

The patient is taking Lasix for its ability to increase urinary output in renal patients with reduced renal
blood flow and for control of hypertension and for its ability decrease the amount of fluid in
intravascular volume, reduce cardiac preload and help treat his acute pulmonary edema (Mayo Clinic,
2017). The mechanism of action for Lasix is, it inhibits reabsorption of sodium, potassium and
chloride cotransporters in the loop of Henle and distal tubules. Lasix causes rapid diuresis, decreasing
vascular volume, increased urinary excretion and decreased cardiac output and blood pressure (Adams
Urban, 2016). The routes that Lasix is supplied are, PO, IV and IM. It is distributed in body tissues. It
is metabolized in incremental amounts by the liver and excreted by the kidneys (Adams Urban, 2016).
The patient is taking 120mg PO/day. The recommended dose is 20 80 mg in one or multiple doses
with a maximum of 600mg/day (Adams Urban, 2016). The patient s dose exceeds the recommended
once daily dose and recommend decreasing the dose or giving in divided doses 6 8 hours apart. Once
the patient s acute pulmonary edema is controlled the dosage should be reduced to prevent
hypokalemia and electrolyte imbalances associated with loop diuretics and renal failure.
Contraindications include, patients with allergies to Sulfonamide antibiotics should not take Lasix.
Concurrent use with NSAIDS decrease the effectiveness.

Risks And Risks Of Risk Analysis
a. Risk Analysis is the process of defining and analyzing the dangers to individuals, business and
government agencies posed by potential natural and human caused adverse events. In IT, a risk
analysis report can be used to align technology related objectives with a company s business
objectives. A main objective of a business is to determine the potential RE a.k.a Risk Impact, or the
probability of a potential loss. These expected values give you a sense of how much loss your
company may take, before you can implement mitigation actions.
b. As a project manager it is important to expect and prepare for unexpected events. With risk
management you can identify your projects weaknesses, strengths, and threats that may have your
project in a negative aspect. Risk Analysis is important because it may help you avoid or mitigate
these risks. As a project manager it is part of their responsibility to make sure that team is prepared for
these expected risks.
c. When it comes to Risk Analysis there is a formula that is used to derive an estimated impact of each
risk. Risk Analysis = Probability of Loss * Size of Loss. For example if the probability of a risk, at
some cost, is 30% over an 8 year period, every 2.4 you would estimate an expected risk at some cost.
d. Once you have an expected risk analysis, as a project manager you would need to enforce a
mitigation plan to avoid, or mitigate these risks. As a project manager you have the choice to share,
accept, or control the

Statutory Rape Laws
There are debates on whether or not the laws for statutory rape are strict enough. The age of
consensual sex varies from state to state. In some states the age of consent is 16 while others start at
the age of 17. Though many of these teens may be physically ready to engage in sex, many of them
are not mentally prepared. In their article, Enforce Statutory Rape Laws to Curb Teen Sex , Kathleen
Sylvester and Jonathan O Connell talk about relationships between 12, 13 and 14 year old girls and
sexually mature men who are inherently unequal, often coercive and almost always damaging. Many
of these girls find themselves engaging in sexual activities with much older men. Until stricter laws
are put into place, as well as parents explaining these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

statistics illustrate that high risk sexual behavior among teenagers is a growing problem as young
teenagers begin to experiment with sex with people much older than them (Jones, par 4). Many of
these teens are engaging in sex not realizing that if both partners are not within the same age bracket
they could be committing a crime. There is an exception for teenagers convicted of statutory rape and
child molestation included as part of so called Romeo and Juliet Laws teenagers as long as they are

History essay Using these four passages and your own knowledge, asses the view that Japan was
driven into war with the western powers in 1941 by American policies. Both interpretations B and D
prove that America was the only driving force that caused a war in the Pacific. The oil embargo that
America enforced in 1940 was an incentive for Japan, a country very reliant on imports of which most
primarily came from America feeding its daily usage of 12,000 tons of oil,to declare war on the
country that was slowing its progress to conquer China. Interpretation B states that moderates and
militants alike saw American pressure as provocative thus creating a tension in the Pacific, with the
American foreign policy at the forefront of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However American concern for the safety of Asia would ultimately lead to a war in the Pacific and
Japanese hostility was solely to blame. Interpretation D also shows Japan s aggression being sparked
by American decisions. For example America, most of all, stood in the way stood in the way of this
through their control of resources in South East Asia. America s grip on all vital resources in the
Pacific would have driven Japan to war as it was the only alternative to stop America whilst still
keeping control over China. The leading philosophies of the time, assumed that acquiring an empire
provided the basis of prosperity and future national security. This on the other hand contradicts the
interpretation as it presents Japan as an empire with clear instructions on how to achieve wealth
through imperialism. This is shown throughout the passage where by the time the war in China began
in 1937 politicians favouring expansionism were in high offices of state. America is no longer the only
reason that war began as the views of the leaders in 1937 were evidently expansionist. Japan does not
want any relations with America as in the eyes of Japan s leaders that would have entailed a colossal
loss of prestige with incalculable internal consequences. Japan and the US both operated with an
imperialist mindset, but Japan government had mishandled the position they found themselves in

Education vs. Budget Cuts
Education vs. Budget Cuts
When I think of education, I think of how great it is and how far it can take us. Education is just as
important as history. You know how they say if you don t know your history you don t know where
you come from? Well, same goes for education, if you don t have education you can t go very far in
life. These days, if you don t have a college education it s hard to find a good paying job because just
having a high school diploma or a GED isn t enough.
Austin Bureau says, Educators have again warned state lawmakers that severe budget cuts will hurt
public education and pleaded for more flexibility in the way school districts deal with lower funding .
Because of the budget cuts, education is one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That number is ridiculous and irate. That is a lot of money being cut from education. I honestly want
to know where the money is going. In my opinion it can t be going anywhere that more effective than
education.
It s not only effecting the state of Texas. Larissa Mae Suarez says, Simultaneous actions also took
place in other schools outside Metro Manila, organized by the National Union of Students of the
Philippines (NUSP), against the state s abandonment of its responsibility to ensure quality and
accessible education for the youth . With this being said, it s not only a state problem; it s a national
problem also. Although Rick Perry had nothing to do with national problems, I think that the state and
national government need to budget money better.
In conclusion, education is major part of life and I don t feel that it should be cut. If there is enough
money in the rainy day fun to give towards education so that students could get the proper education
that they deserve and teachers can keep their jobs then it should be given. I don t think it s fair the
school funding is being reduced by 9.3 billion dollars and it s only towards public education. Although
private education is an alternate decision, everyone can t afford it.

Domestic And International Asian Students
Table 3 shows that no significant difference was observed between the overall scores of adjustment in
domestic and international Asian students. This finding is different from previous studies that showed
East Asian students to have difficulty understanding the academic content resulting in poor adjustment
success (Lee, Farruggia, Brown, 2013). To test our main hypothesis, JASP was used to generate data
through descriptive statistics, ANOVA and further post hoc analyses. Initially, we generated
descriptive statistics to show the raw means. Table 4 displays this descriptive data indicating that
international students performed better than domestic students on university adjustment (M = 34.60,
SD = 2.60) and social interaction (M = 15.20, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To test the second hypothesis, further sampled t test comparisons were conducted. Table 3 shows a
strong significance between the different categories of adjustment, F(2, 81) = 197.09, p .001, η² =
.813; however, the significance was ambiguous. To see where the difference happened, we conducted t
test comparisons. When comparing local university adjustment with international university
adjustment (t[4] = 1.990, p .05, d = .890), local social interaction with international social interaction
(t[4] = 0.732, p .05, d = .328) and local academic achievement with international academic
achievement (t[4] = .793, p .05, d = .355) no significance was found. In addition, the significant values
were found when academic achievement was compared with university adjustment in domestic and
international students. This was a potential error of key score differences between the categories
(Table 2). Table 5 provides the complete list of all the comparisons and displays where the results
showed significance. Through this statistical analysis, our second hypothesis failed to be true as well.
Interestingly, an interaction was found to be significant for social interaction and academic
achievement. Figure 2 provides a visual representation of this result.
Discussion
The purpose of this study was to find the underlying differences between international and domestic
students. We used Asian students specifically for data to see whether they differ from one another

How Does Walker Present Celie s Relationship In The Color...
The unconditional love depicted in the relationships of The Color Purple by Alice Walker is similar to
those of some families, in which they act as moral support, through their actions and experiences.
Love is commonly defined as a deep or passionate affection caused by a warm, emotional attachment
to an individual. The relationship of Celie and Shug Avery is like the relationship of my mother and I
because of the love we have for each other. My mother is a friend, confidence booster and my

How Student Loans Have Affected The Cost Of Tuition
In the 1980s a first year college student could attend a public four year university for $2,500 and a
private university for a little over $5,000. Although, most of these universities are offering the same
mediocre education from the last three decades; the cost of tuition has more than tripled for public
universities and for private universities, it has gone up a staggering 85%. Canada holds an average
educational cost of 5,974 and England follows with an estimated average cost of 5,288. In spite the
tuition in the United States being more than twice that of its allies; the main problem contributing to
the continuing rise of tuition are the billions of dollars owed in both federal and private student loans.
Unfortunately, out of 15 countries the United States held the number one position when it came down
to the cost of a higher education (including books, fees, room and board). With that being said, I will
thoroughly explain in the following essay how student loans have affected the cost of tuition, compare
US tuition to other countries, and analyze the average spending budget for most universities that prove
to influence the rise in tuition. At some point, it was said that the United States had a high credit card
debt that could take a few decades to pay off. Now student loans are the talk of the Federal Reserve,
with the amount of loans accumulating up to $829.785 billion, surpassing the infamous credit card
debt. The Forbes website suggest that student loans are

The Cultural Conflicts Existing Within The Discipline Of...
Question # 1: Leaving aside assignment 6 (Gibson/Key) what reading(s) did you find most compelling
this week, and why?
This week, singling out one compelling piece was hard, as I now see how all the pieces are linked. For
example, I liked how Perestroika informs us of the trends existing within the discipline of political
science, particularly the overrated focus on methods and techniques in political inquiry. I also liked
how Perestroika highlights the cultural conflicts existing within the discipline, which is demonstrated
by the behavior of APSR and various administrations and departments of the discipline. Perestroika
dictates that the discipline needs to resolve its existing epistemological differences through tolerance
and increase the understanding of these differences. Gregory Bateson s proposal for innovative
thinking shows us new ways of dealing with knowledge and generating ideas. He speaks of what he
calls the ecology of mind that is the aggregates of ideas. Bateson stipulates that the world we see is the
world we perceive not necessarily because it exists, but because we edit the reality we see. This idea
speaks to the scientific mode of inquiry, as Perestroika puts it: causality vs. meaning, objective vs.
subjective, and certainty vs. skepticism. Bates suggests that the scientific research must be interactive
and inclusive of the various methods of inquiry. While Bent Flyvbjerg starts with the question of
whether theory is possible in

The Genre Of Matthew 23
Matthew 23:1 12
#1 The Genre
The genre of Matthew, one of four Gospels and narrative.
#2 Generic or Intrinsic conception
The generic concept of Matthew 23:1 12 is that Jesus warns the crowds and disciples against Pharisees
and Scribes who do not practice what they teach, do not serve their people, but enjoy being exalted.
#3 Observations
Literary: o In Matthew 23:1 12, the literary feature I found is explanation/analysis, interchange, and
contrast. Jesus presents an idea, which is not doing what the Pharisees and Scribes are doing. He
explains this idea by providing examples of what they do in verses 5 7. The author also uses
interchange because the focus in verses 1 7 is on the Pharisees and the Scribes and what they do.
However, from verses 8 12, Jesus is focusing on the multitude and his ... Show more content on

I once heard that one of Christian member misunderstood verse 9 in this passage. He took it literally
and decided not to call his earthly father his father because everyone is a brother in Christ. He
believed that his true father is only the Father in heaven. However, this misinterpretation comes
because of the lack of cultural understanding. Father was used to recognize someone in a high title,
not a physical father. Another misinterpretation can be towards our spiritual leaders. Christians can
force spiritual leaders to humble themselves because they must serve their congregation first. Also,
heavier judgments and expectations can be made upon spiritual leaders because they are not to exalt
themselves.
A proper interpretation can come by looking through the historical and cultural lens. Jesus is not
teaching people to deny their physical parents or judge spiritual leaders. He is rebuking the
inconsistencies of the Pharisees and Scribes. They are being hypocrites, falsely leading his people.
Therefore, he is teaching the true teacher and a father, which is in

Analysis of Romance of Resistacne by Lila Abu-Lughod
The Romance of resistance is an article which is written by Lila Abu Lughod in regard with the
different forms of resistance among the Bedouin women and the traditional structure of power among
the Bedouin Community in the Egypt s Western Desert. She arrived in late 1970 to begin a fieldwork,
and she discovered different forms of resistance among the Bedouin women. In this Article she
emphasis on how the Bedouin women resisted the decision of their fathers, uncles, and older brother,
how the resisted the sexually segregation, and sexually irreverent discourse. Furthermore, it also talk
about how local communities are being incorporated into modern states and integrated into a wider
economy.
The first one is sexually segregated, since the community is rule and influence by man particularly
elder so it led to Defiance and women merely take the advantage of secretly like meeting friends or
visiting healer and even sometimes smoking secretly. This shows how women are restricted. The
second form of resistance is girls and women resistance to marriages. Where women have no control
over the arrangement of the marriage but only elder man or relative like uncle and father decide even
they were intimidate and force to marry a person older in age than them. But sometime girl s mother

Essay on Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
The Road Not Taken: All the Difference
Each person must make many decisions in their lifetime. Some decisions are easy while others are
more difficult. The poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost is a first person narrative tale of a
monumental moment in Frost s life. Frost is faced between the choice of a moment and a lifetime.
Walking down a rural road the narrator encounters a point on his travel that diverges into two separate
similar paths. In Robert Frost s poem The Road Not Taken , Frost presents the idea of man facing the
difficult unalterable predilection of a moment and a lifetime. This idea in Frost s poem is embodied in
the fork in the road, the decision between the two paths, and the speaker s decision. ... Show more

The speaker s sight is limited his eyes can only see the path until it bends into the undergrowth. The
author shows man s attempts to tell which path is better by trying to for see what they will behold
down the road. Both roads diverge into a yellow wood and appear to be about the same in their
purpose. The first of the two paths is the more common route than the other less traveled path, which
wanted wear. Frost presents a classic conflict the decision between the common easy path and the
exceptional challenging path. Choosing the already known easy path in life many people frequently
endure reassures that the outcome will be predictable. While choosing the less traveled road represents
the gamble of facing a more difficult path in life in hopes to achieve an incomparable and satisfactory
life, contrasting the more familiar lives other people take.
The road not taken delineates man s choice. After vacillating between the two fair roads, he finally
decides to take the road less traveled by ; knowing he cannot see where it will lead. Traveling down
the second road, the speaker still yearns to travel both paths he keeps the first for another day. As the
narrator proceeds down the unworn path, he realizes there will be no way he can ever return to the
deviation to experience the other route. The speakers utters:
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

How Social Class Influences Empathic Accuracy
Article Critique
Shirly Dorilas
Carlos Albizu University Introduction
Social Class, Contextualism, and Empathic Accuracy by
Michael W. Kraus, Stephanie Cote, and Dacher Keltner
The main aim of the paper was to examine how social class influences empathic accuracy. This aim is
important as it will help to uncover the psychological processes that inspire the various life
circumstances of lower and upper class individuals. In addition, social class such as socioeconomic
status or SES pervades social life, in which it can determine the participation within social institutions,
influence preference for cultural and artistic symbols, and increase susceptibility to mood and health
related issues. It would be important to understand how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies have found that social class is measured by the indicators of material wealth, occupational
prestige or educational achievement. Due to this signaling process, an individual may develop
subjective perceptions of his or her rank in the social hierarchy. Additionally, research suggests lower
class individuals life outcome is often times more dependent on external forces in the social context
than upper class individuals. Furthermore, research noted empathic accuracy tends to increase with
more interdependence and may be an important predictor of relationship results and social adjustment.
The author asserts that research studies supporting these theoretic arguments are suggestive but
limited as they have not addressed how class based perceptual tendencies may have pronounced
effects on emotional processes. The current study was conducted in three different experiments. First,
participants were tested on whether or not lower social class is related to an elevated empathic
accuracy. In the second experiment, researchers tested whether or not social class predicts accuracy in
judging emotions during interaction. In addition, researchers examined whether or not a more
pronounced focus on the context explains the relationship between social class and empathic accuracy.
Subsequently, researchers used SES of participants to measure social class. In the third experiment,
researchers manipulated

Ethics And Moral Subjectivism
Moral Subjectivism:
Moral Subjectivism: ethical philosophical theory comes In several shapes, its most individualistic
expression is ethical subjectivism, ethical subjectivism says that the standards for what is thought
concerning virtuously right or wrong is the people perceptions, opinions, experiences, inclinations,

Ethical subjectivism denies the existence of absolute, unchanging, universal moral standards. Instead,
it views ethical values as being private, individual, and subjective in nature. Statements typical to the
ethical intellect position embody these ,morality, is like the among of the eye of beholder and its most
descriptive statement is that, no matter somebody thinks is correct is correct.
Moral subjectivism assumes that no one can be wrong regarding his or her moral views. If the
individual is that the basis of moral truth, then none folks would possibly ever be mistaken in our
moral opinions, for no matter we have a tendency to tend to believe ought to be true. Clearly, ethical

Examples Of Globalization In The Movie Lion
Globalization has been presented in almost all of the movies today. In the movie Lion , a big part that
helped the main character find his way was through technology, using media, trade, and transportation
as the main factors. In this film, the producers and directors took a true story about a little boy s
unfortunate mishap that turned around and changed his life. As he went into his adulthood he used
technology and transportation to find where he came from, and through globalization it abled him to
find his way back home.
Throughout the movie the train symbolized the transportation factor of globalization. The train was
there in the beginning when the boy lost his way and, was there at the end when he found it. In the
modern world, trains, planes, cars, and trucks is what we use to travel or transport goods. Yes,
sometimes we can lose our path but transportation also helps us find our way back. Saroo, the main

Discuss The Problems Edward Faced During The Reign Of...
How effectively did Edward deal with the problems he faced during the first part of his reign, 1042
1053?
When Edward came into power in 1042, England was in a poor state financially and also because of
threats of an invasion and this made the first few years of his rule difficult. Edward was faced with
many problems which he had to overcome. These problems involved; powerful Earls, (especially the
Godwine s), the foreign policy and the domestic policy. Edward both failed and succeeded in these
problems due to a number of factors. These include a lack of knowledge about his kingdom and some
may argue that he was naïve in his decisions. With some evaluation, we will be able to judge if
Edward was a successful King or not.

By 1051, Edward had managed to appoint Normans as bishops, and eventually half were filled by
Englishmen and the other half by Normans and other foreigners; Godwine and English Earls hated
this. In 1050, the Archbishop of Canterbury died and instead of Godwine s relative Aelfric being
appointed, he made Robert of Jumieges Archbishop instead. The witans supported this decision, this
may have been because Godwine was in such a strong position that the other Earls were jealous. So
overall,Edward had not been a complete success with regards to gaining power over Godwine as he
hadn t managed to appoint all the positions to Normans and only got one up on Godwine when
appointing archbishop as there was rivalry between the Earls.
However, even though Edward had got one up on Godwine, Godwine was still responsible for the
murder of his brother Alfred. Godwine had arrested Alfred and killed some of his followers, he was
then taken out of Godwine s hands and but on board a ship where soon afterwards he soon died. In
1046, Godwin s eldest son Sweyn abducted a nun and used her as a sex slave, when this was put to

An Exploration of Management Practices in a Military...
Introduction An exploration of management practices in a military organization is substantively
different in a number of ways from the same type of exploration conducted in the world of civilian
enterprise. In the military, there is a cord extending from Pentagon level leadership to down range
command. This cord is an articulation of myriad rules and regulations that are not vulnerable to
managerial whimsy or subject to the next new best management practice being promulgated in Ivy
League business schools as the enlightened way forward. This is not to say that military management
cannot or does not access the rich store of contemporary management theory. Rather, it is a validation
of the place reasoned change has in the military machination. For military management practices to be
revised, there must be a clear cut advantage to capacity and force development. ARFOGEN was
established for just those reasons to ensure that the Army regained its balance in order to meet the
requirements to operate in an environment of prolonged conflict against a hybrid threat ( Stand To!,

line would be for the Danes who have a disposable income of less than 200.000 DKK, the second

look at the first budget line, we can see that the consumer buys a fairly small amount of both good X

which are hardy to U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zone 3. Siberian iris (Iris sibirica)
and crested iris (Iris cristata), for instance, can thrive in USDA plant hardiness zones 3 through 9. (See

although they don t grow true to the parent plant. (See References 2)
Step 1
Harvest the seedpods from an iris plant after it s done blooming in the fall. If pollinated, find the pods

Analysis Of Champion Of The World By Maya Angelou
Symbolism and Change in Sports Throughout the years, sports have become a major part of society.
Sports, a large percentage of the time, are a part of peoples lives in one way or another. Whether they
participate in them or just enjoy watching them, sports are a big deal to the majority of people. There
are also some individuals who have redefined the expectations when it comes to certain sports. For
instance, Babe Ruth redefined the way people think about baseball, or Michael Jordan completely
changing the game of basketball. But Joe Louis and Venus and Serena Williams have changed their
games in a way no one could have imagined. Although Champion of the World by Maya Angelou and
Woman Who Hit Very Hard and How They ve Changed Tennis by Michael Kimmelman are different,
they are similar in the ways they show how the respected athletes, Joe Louis and the Williams sisters,
changed the game and were seen using symbolism in racial and sexual progression. In Champion of
the World Maya Angelou writes about Joe Louis road to success in how he changed boxing for his
race. Angelou writes, This might be the end of the world. If Joe lost we were back in slavery and

Resilience Of African Art In The Colonial Age
During the colonial age the governmental policies and the spread of Islam along new forms of
education often restructured the political system. Education had been the context for creating and
using art in Africa. Art forms and cultural practices adapted to the new circumstances as the artists
began to introduce and improved materials; like the way Malick Sidibe did with his photography by
giving these images a completely different meaning. These innovations symbolize resilience of
African art and culture that explains the story of adapting to change while showing appreciation.
Contemporary African Art are works of art created by African artist across the continent to reflect the
histories, religion, society of people, and even language. Since Africa was not fortunate to know how
to read or write, they expressed their history to reflect artworks and architectures. For example, some
of the early works were discovered in Namibia with animals found on rocks. Animals on rocks shows
an accurate depiction of change from grasslands to land conditions that we know of today land where
people reside. I think Malick ultimately captured this photo to depict the life in Malia along with
transitioning overtime to new customs such as pop culture. Malick Sidibe was a Malian Photographer
famous for his black and white photos that reflect popular culture in the 1960s. Sidibe was from a
small village in Mali called Soloba. It appears that Sidibe has always had a passion for photography.

The True Nature Of Cheerleading Essay
As human beings, it is natural to judge people who are different than ourselves. Most often these
judgements are based off of common beliefs, or stereotypes. Stereotypes apply to every group, from
the slow moving elderly to lively cheerleaders. Usually these beliefs do not describe every person in a
group, but they all receive the same labels. Cheerleaders make up one group that is commonly
stereotyped, but many people don t know the true nature of cheerleading.
Countless stereotypes that I have about cheerleaders have been ingrained into my mind by the media,
and from personal experience. From what I had observed in high school, cheerleaders are the popular
girls with plenty of friends. Not being associated with a cheerleader meant that you weren t on the
map. Promiscuity was also an extremely prominent stereotype in high school, which had always
shocked me since the cheerleaders seemed like a nasty group of girls. Cheerleaders also have a
reputation of being air headed or simply not intelligent. As an outsider, they did not give me the
impression of being book smart, especially at my high school. Another stereotype that I have is that
cheerleaders aren t entirely athletic. Yes, cheerleading is a sport. Yes, it can be dangerous and it does
take work. However, cheering doesn t look like it requires the same level of effort and intensity as
multiple other sports. These are all widespread beliefs about cheerleaders that I have come to expect
from them.

Supraventricular Tachycardi A Case Study
Supraventricular Tachycardia The heart is a muscular pump about the size of a fist. This muscle is
continuously pumping blood to the circulatory system at a rate on average of 100,000 times a day.
Arrhythmia s can cause an abnormal rhythm to this rate because of a change in the heart s electrical
system. These arrhythmias can either cause the heart to beat too slowly, bradycardia, or tachycardia,
where the heart beats too fast. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is one specific form of tachycardia.
When a person develops SVT it causes the heart tissue to develop activity similar to a pacemaker in
the upper chambers, or the region above the ventricles (AHA, 2015). This produces an abnormally fast

Short term treatment can include the use of vagal maneuvers. If these are not successful at halting or

treatment can include agents that block the atrioventricular node or class IC or III antiarrhythmics.
Procainamide, ibutilide, flecainide, propafenone, and amiodarone can all be used to control the rhythm
in patients (Carnell, J., Amandeep, S., 2008). For those patients that experience persistent episodes of
SVT can have a catheter ablation procedure (Colucci, R et. al., 2010). A catheter ablation is a low risk
procedure with a 90% success rate. This procedure uses radiofrequency heat in order to kill the area of
the heart in which the irregular heartbeat is originating. The purpose of killing this area is to resort the
heart back to its original rhythm. With this procedure, the abnormal tissue can be destroyed without
causing any other damage to the heart. A doctor performs the catheter ablation by placing a sheath into
the groin. The sheath is then filled with electrode catheters. Through these catheters, the doctor is able
to send small electrical impulses, which helps locate the damaged tissue. Once the abnormal tissue is
located the catheter is placed in that spot so that the radiofrequency can be sent into the tissue. This
area is usually 1/5 of an inch (AMA, 2015). After the catheter ablation procedure, all of the abnormal
tissue should be repaired and the patient should not experience anymore SVT episodes. They are then

Competitive Forces Analysis Of Amazon
Competitive Forces Analysis. Amazon, Google, and Apple each have competitive advantages in
various markets; however, one specific market proved difficult for Amazon to cultivate a competitive
advantage. Shaping competition, the five forces, known as threats of new entrants, power of suppliers,
power of buyers, threats of substitutes, and existing rivalry, determine industry profitability and
influence the ability to gain competitive advantage (Rothaermel, 2017). Notably, failing to understand
the forces can results in negative gains. Within the U.S. technology industry, the smartphone market
has strong competitive forces, yet profit potential. In particular, the smartphone market has established
firms, such as Google and Apple, each with large market shares, which lessens profitability potential
for new entrants. Nevertheless, Amazon, pursuing a differentiation strategy, attempted to develop and

force Amazon encountered was the presence of entry barriers. Established firms, Google and Apple,
had proven brand recognition, economies of scale, and loyal consumer base in the smartphone
industry, and an entering firm, such as Amazon, faced risk. From Amazon s view, entering into the
smartphone market required significant capital investment, with unpredictable effects, to develop a
differentiated, price competitive product. Furthermore, the threat of substitutes was high

Ancestral Genetic Synthesis Essay
A fictional novel about the search for the clues and secrets that unlock mysteries of the human genome
and could save or destroy humanity. A researcher, Dr. Kate Warner has discovered important genetic
techniques to unlock important genes through her studies of 2 autistic children. The unlocking of these
genes is linked to the Atlanteans, a race of people who are currently frozen under Antarctic Ice. The
Atlanteans have been instrumental in the important leaps in human evolution from Australopithecines
to modern humans. The key is in unlocking parts of the human genome. Kate is helped by an
intelligence officer, David Vale, who is investigating secret coded messages sent by the Immari, a
2000 year old secret society dedicated to controlling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extinct genes called pseudogenes are a part of our DNA but, because of mutations, are shut off.
Studies in the 1990s have attempted to resurrect these genes but have been largely unable to do so. It
is thought that these genes were functional in pre human species such as Australopithicenes and Homo
Habilis etc. Things such as exceptional hairiness in Neanderthals is thought to be an example of genes
that were functional and advantageous during their history but are not needed or functional anymore.
B. Autism and autistic savants a. www.autism.com/understanding savants Autistic savant is one of the
most interesting cognitive phenomenon in psychology. Autistic savants used to be called idiot savants
which means unlearned skill (from the French idiot = unlearned). 10% of the autistic population have
savant abilities compared to only 1% in the non autistic population. As many as 33% of autistic people
have exceptional abilities. This certainly supports the idea in the text that autistic people might hold
the key for unlocking super skills in the rest of the human population.

Animals and Humans Are Not Equal Essay
Animals and Humans Are Not Equal
Franklin was a vegetarian in his youth, believing that killing animals was a kind of unprovok d
Murder. Later, however, Franklin was tempted by the smell of fish being fried. Having seen small fish
in the stomachs of fish being prepared, he decided he could eat them if they ate each other. If animals
eat other animals to sustain life, animals must be an excellent source of food. Meat contains many
vitamins.
Animals will have rights when they have the means to enforce them. They don t have the ability to
reason as humans do. The human race has such a vast understanding of the necessities for all of the
different species of animals to exist. Humans are far superior to any other animal because ... Show

Something worth consideration is that humans are the only ones who seem to complain about the
conditions. Animals are under some stress when they get there, but soon they adapt to the new life
well. Farm animals are adaptable in this way. When animals are stressed out they won t eat or drink,
thus, the animals in factory farms aren t under a great deal stress. As for disease, antibiotics are always
plentiful.
Medicine is another subject of much dispute. Antibiotics are used frequently in livestock to treat many
illnesses. Activists find this very troubling, saying antibiotics cause antibiotic resistant strains of
pneumonia, childhood meningitis, gonorrhea, salmonella, and other serious illnesses. They also
include that, 9,000 Americans die annually from food borne illness and an estimated 80 million others
fall ill. These numbers looks huge but because this article is found in the pro vegetertianism section,
people associate these figures with eating meat. They subsequentlyleave out ho many of the 9,000
people die of pesticides on vegetables. As for the antibiotics all of them have a withholding period. A
withholding period is a set time period in which an animal receives and antibiotic, can t be butchered
for meat. This is so the residue of antibiotics is out of the meat. Most antibiotics anymore are not
given intermuscular, but subcutaneously (or just under the skin)

Character Analysis Of Robinson Crusoe
I take notice of here, those discontented people, who cannot enjoy comfortably what God has given
them; because they see and covet something that He has not give them. Robinson Crusoe (Defoe 95).
In the book, Robinson Crusoe the main character Robinson Crusoe was a man who made many
choices, some of which were made selfishly, and without the guidance of God or other influential
people of whom he should have listened to. Throughout his life Crusoe learned many things through
experience. His relationship with God as well as his character improved along his journey and
strengthened when he allowed them to. Crusoe s well aspired dream of becoming a sailor affected his
relationship with God and ultimately began his journey of growth. At age 19, Robinson Crusoe
decided he was not going to go on to work in law, as his father had planned for him, but that he was
going to be a sailor. His father attempted to convince Crusoe of his disapproval and to prevent him
from becoming a sailor. Crusoe however decided against what his father had said and left home even
though he was told not to. In the book he says, I consulted neither my mother or father any more, nor
so much as sent them word of it; but leaving them to hear of it as they might, without asking God s
blessing, or my father s, without any consideration of circumstances or consequences, and in an ill
hour, God knows, on the first of September 1651I went on board a ship bound for London. (Defoe 4).
In his time as a sailor he was a part of 4 separate voyages, all of which resulted in narrow escapes of
death for Crusoe, but despite the fact that God was obviously trying to give signs to him of why he
should not have been a sailor, Crusoe blames bad luck and fate for his troubles, and continues to
disobey his parents, and God. At this point of his life, Crusoe was a selfish man who thought of what
was best for himself, and ignored others opinions, and did not seek God s help in his times of need. A
little later in life, with his bad luck along his journeys continuing, Crusoe survives a shipwreck on his
way to Guinea, in which all of his fellow sailors are killed. He survived by the grace of God and
somehow swam his way to a deserted island. Although just

Research Paper On Guerrilla Marketing
As competitiveness between companies nowadays is every time more and more extended, brands need
to search for ways to make it stand out among the others. Guerilla marketing is one example of this
standing out goal.
Guerrilla marketing was originally a marketing strategy in which low cost, unconventional means
were used in a localized fashion to draw attention to an idea, product, or service. Today, guerrilla
marketing may also include promotion through a network of individuals, groups, or organizations
working to popularize a product or idea by use of such strategies as flash mobs, viral marketing
campaigns, or internet marketing.
The term guerrilla marketing is traced to guerrilla warfare, which employs atypical tactics to achieve
an objective.
Guerrilla marketing was initially used by small and medium sized businesses, but it is increasingly
being adopted by big business. This concept rises from a promotion that relies on imagination rather
than a big budget.
Why Guerilla Marketing? Marketing is such a huge topic, it has so many different utilities, but for me
guerilla is the most interesting one. We can find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Evolution Scientific Theory
What is a theory in science?
A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the world, based on facts that have been frequently
confirmed through observation and experiment or is often just speculations. Is evolution just a theory?
Evolution is considered a valid scientific theory as it cannot be expressed in a concise mathematical
equation so it is referred to as a theory, which does not make it more accurate than a law. Natural
selection, comparative embryology, comparative anatomy, DNA and scientific contributions all
support the theory of evolution.
Natural selection
Natural selection is a process in nature by which organisms are better adapted to their environment
tend survive and reproduce more likely than those who are not fit for their environment. For example,

For example, embryos of many animals, from fish to humans each show similarities, which suggest a
common ancestor. In humans, it is obvious that embryos begin to develop what would have formed
into gills that our ancestors had. Embryos also develop a tail, which by the time they are born it is
gone which shows that ancestors were born with tails but we have evolved to no longer be born with a
tail. Comparative embryology also shows that many different life forms experience similar stages of
development, which points to common origins. Comparative anatomy is the study of similarities and
differences in the anatomy of different species. It is closely related to evolutionary biology and
phylogeny (evolution of species). Comparative anatomy has served evidence for evolution, which
indicates various organisms share a common ancestor. Comparative anatomy is the first line of
reasoning in determining the connection of

Clay Bust Analysis
Most of my pieces have everything to do with personal inspiration, and ideas that I ended up coming
with from either reference photos or my very own imagination. I Intended on focusing my creativity
on detail and perseverance, there were times during the clay bust project where my project fell apart or
cracked numerous times, and I had to struggle a bit to piece it back together. As I began my clay bust
project, I came in with various ideas and motivations that eventually morphed into my final piece. I
started with jotting ideas that included; Anime sculpting, Alien faces, and Women Facial structures.
Eventually, I decided on the Alien piece and began sculpting. I mentioned earlier how I faced certain
troubles when dealing with my piece, including it falling apart when having to take out the ... Show

It gives me an idea what struggle looks like in a sense, since it fell apart numerous times and I spent
an extra amount of time trying to perfect it. My intended audience could be people who aren t really
expecting a surprise, and then they re introduced to my piece and have a different reaction that reflects
the personality of the piece. For example, they would see it and automatically think that it s some kind
of bird creature, and it ll keep people guessing and thinking, yet they won t be able to turn away from
the piece. Most of the rest of my pieces are very abstract, and detailed, which is where I believe my
bust sculpture fits in perfectly. Besides the amount of time put into this specific piece, I believe that
the amount of detail, tone, and color added onto it also relates to the rest of my pieces, for example my
clay mask sculpture which included two different colors, yet it I added detail throughout both of them
to show facial expressions and setting the tone for each individual

Negative Influence Of Huck Finn
Mark Twain s Huck Finn
Huck Finn story can be a debatable when it comes to history, and what the story is about. Some argue
that Mark Twain s abuse of using the N word triggers racism especially that this book was written
when slavery became illegal. As one student said, It is estimated that the word nigger is used 392
times which reinforces a negative stereotype of African Americans represented by the use of this
derogatory word (Jackson). Some can still argue that this book can be a bad influence to the youth as
they might be using the N word as a racist rant. For some, it is very disturbing, upsetting, and bringing
back the past.

Many times that Huck could ve told the authorities about Jim, but he didn t. On the other hand, Jim
could ve done the same thing to Huck. Both men, did what they think was right. Jim protected Huck
from seeing his dead father. He didn t let Huck see his father s dead body because he didn t want Huck
to get hurt. For example, when Huck wanted to talk about the dead man and wanted to know how he
was killed, but Jim didn t want him to know all that. It would fetch bad luck; and besides, he said, he
might come and ha nt us; he said a man that warn t buried was more likely to go a ha nting around
than one that was planted and comfortable (Twain 137).
When Huck disguised himself a girl, he found out how much people really wanted to capture Jim.
Instead of telling these people Jim s locations, Huck did the right thing by letting Jim know that they
need to leave the place and move. Git up and hump yourself, Jim! There ain t a minute to lose. They re
after us! (Twain 143).
The two men live a dangerous life that any moment, they could be captured, especially Jim. One of the
many times that Huck could have told on Jim, was when some men approached him looking for five
black men run off that night. Instead of letting the men know that he have one black man with him,
Huck told them that it is a white man with him. Despite saying that, the men still want to make sure.
So, Huck has to make excuses as to not let

  • 2. Michael Zomber Research Paper There are many ways to brush up on your history and some options are decidedly more interesting than others. The average individual may not consider history as their favorite subject in school, however, Michael Zomber might disagree. If you have spent any time in the antique arms arena you will probably have heard of Michael Zomber. Unlike some antique collectors Michael has devoted decades of his time and effort to the actual study and preservation of historic items. Zomber does not merely collect items and protect their integrity as he preserves them he goes much further than that as he joins forces with others who are just as passionate as he is.Michael was born in Washington DC and considers the outskirts of Philadelphia to be his home. ... • 3. Al Seckel Visual Illusions Al Seckel, a cognitive neuroscientist, explores the idea that a violation in our visual perception can cause us to feel a sense of joy during a TedTalk presentation in Monterey, California on February 26, 2004. He elaborates on this idea by presenting the audience with various examples of visual illusions concerning a violation in depth, colour, shape, size, and etc. The lecture is packed with various types of visual illusions ranging from old to new, from artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci to Arthur Ganson and he even included several examples of the visual illusions he has created. His hypothesis regarding the delight in visual illusions is correct, as throughout the lecture, when presented with new visual illusions the audience is entertained and joyful. Textual Connections Several connections can be drawn between the topics and types of visual illusions covered in the textbook and the types of visual illusion shown by Al Seckel in the TedTalk lecture. One of the connections I was able to draw from reading the chapter in the textbook regarding visual illusions and watching the TedTalk lecture was the violation of size, accomplished by using a converging line. The textbook shows the Ponzo Illusion, where the line closer to the converging line is perceived as being much larger than the line farther away from the converging line (Cramer et al., 2017). Al Seckel shows an image he has created using the Ponzo Illusion, called Pick on Someone Your Own Size (Seckel, 2007). In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Questions On Inequalities Of Gender Inequality 1. Inequalities of Gender 1. Discuss the various forms of Gender inequality 2. Choose and discuss two theoretical perspectives used to analyze gender inequality 3. Make sure to compare the perspectives and choose which one you align yourself with Kerbo (1994) refer to gender as the socially constructed definition of what it mean to be female or male. Sex and gender are two separate terms. Sex refers to the biological characteristics. However, gender is completely different. Gender is socially constructed not biological. For example many times when a baby is born male, others would say things like he s going to be strong or aggressive. These behaviors are usually associated with male characteristics. Society places different types of behaviors, roles and expectations on females and males. There are various types of gender inequality. For example, there is gender inequality in work, income, occupation, and education. Work and gender is can greatly impact individuals. The work that men and women does has a great significant impact on their status in society. Female are more associate with home base work, while men are associated with high status work that pays. However, many of the work that women does are seen in relation to their husbands. Another, type of gender inequality is in relation to income. There is gap with income between men and women. However in recent years, that gap has begun to narrow. In many societies, men are paid more than women. In addition, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Risks And Risks Of Risk Analysis a. Risk Analysis is the process of defining and analyzing the dangers to individuals, business and government agencies posed by potential natural and human caused adverse events. In IT, a risk analysis report can be used to align technology related objectives with a company s business objectives. A main objective of a business is to determine the potential RE a.k.a Risk Impact, or the probability of a potential loss. These expected values give you a sense of how much loss your company may take, before you can implement mitigation actions. b. As a project manager it is important to expect and prepare for unexpected events. With risk management you can identify your projects weaknesses, strengths, and threats that may have your project in a negative aspect. Risk Analysis is important because it may help you avoid or mitigate these risks. As a project manager it is part of their responsibility to make sure that team is prepared for these expected risks. c. When it comes to Risk Analysis there is a formula that is used to derive an estimated impact of each risk. Risk Analysis = Probability of Loss * Size of Loss. For example if the probability of a risk, at some cost, is 30% over an 8 year period, every 2.4 you would estimate an expected risk at some cost. d. Once you have an expected risk analysis, as a project manager you would need to enforce a mitigation plan to avoid, or mitigate these risks. In some states the age of consent is 16 while others start at the age of 17. Though many of these teens may be physically ready to engage in sex, many of them are not mentally prepared. In their article, Enforce Statutory Rape Laws to Curb Teen Sex , Kathleen Sylvester and Jonathan O Connell talk about relationships between 12, 13 and 14 year old girls and sexually mature men who are inherently unequal, often coercive and almost always damaging. History essay Using these four passages and your own knowledge, asses the view that Japan was driven into war with the western powers in 1941 by American policies. Both interpretations B and D prove that America was the only driving force that caused a war in the Pacific. The oil embargo that America enforced in 1940 was an incentive for Japan, a country very reliant on imports of which most primarily came from America feeding its daily usage of 12,000 tons of oil,to declare war on the country that was slowing its progress to conquer China. Interpretation B states that moderates and militants alike saw American pressure as provocative thus creating a tension in the Pacific, with the American foreign policy at the forefront of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However American concern for the safety of Asia would ultimately lead to a war in the Pacific and Japanese hostility was solely to blame. Interpretation D also shows Japan s aggression being sparked by American decisions. For example America, most of all, stood in the way stood in the way of this through their control of resources in South East Asia. America s grip on all vital resources in the Pacific would have driven Japan to war as it was the only alternative to stop America whilst still keeping control over China. The leading philosophies of the time, assumed that acquiring an empire provided the basis of prosperity and future national security. This on the other hand contradicts the interpretation as it presents Japan as an empire with clear instructions on how to achieve wealth through imperialism. This is shown throughout the passage where by the time the war in China began in 1937 politicians favouring expansionism were in high offices of state. America is no longer the only reason that war began as the views of the leaders in 1937 were evidently expansionist. Japan does not want any relations with America as in the eyes of Japan s leaders that would have entailed a colossal loss of prestige with incalculable internal consequences. Japan and the US both operated with an imperialist mindset, but Japan government had mishandled the position they found themselves in Overall this proves that Japan had their own ... You know how they say if you don t know your history you don t know where you come from? Well, same goes for education, if you don t have education you can t go very far in life. These days, if you don t have a college education it s hard to find a good paying job because just having a high school diploma or a GED isn t enough. Austin Bureau says, Educators have again warned state lawmakers that severe budget cuts will hurt public education and pleaded for more flexibility in the way school districts deal with lower funding . I honestly want to know where the money is going. In my opinion it can t be going anywhere that more effective than education. It s not only effecting the state of Texas. Larissa Mae Suarez says, Simultaneous actions also took place in other schools outside Metro Manila, organized by the National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP), against the state s abandonment of its responsibility to ensure quality and accessible education for the youth . With this being said, it s not only a state problem; it s a national problem also. Although Rick Perry had nothing to do with national problems, I think that the state and national government need to budget money better. In conclusion, education is major part of life and I don t feel that it should be cut. If there is enough money in the rainy day fun to give towards education so that students could get the proper education that they deserve and teachers can keep their jobs then it should be given. I don t think it s fair the school funding is being reduced by 9.3 billion dollars and it s only towards public education. This finding is different from previous studies that showed East Asian students to have difficulty understanding the academic content resulting in poor adjustment success (Lee, Farruggia, Brown, 2013). To test our main hypothesis, JASP was used to generate data through descriptive statistics, ANOVA and further post hoc analyses. Initially, we generated descriptive statistics to show the raw means. Table 3 shows a strong significance between the different categories of adjustment, F(2, 81) = 197.09, p .001, η² = .813; however, the significance was ambiguous. To see where the difference happened, we conducted t test comparisons. When comparing local university adjustment with international university adjustment (t[4] = 1.990, p .05, d = .890), local social interaction with international social interaction (t[4] = 0.732, p .05, d = .328) and local academic achievement with international academic achievement (t[4] = .793, p .05, d = .355) no significance was found. In addition, the significant values were found when academic achievement was compared with university adjustment in domestic and international students. This was a potential error of key score differences between the categories (Table 2). Table 5 provides the complete list of all the comparisons and displays where the results showed significance. Through this statistical analysis, our second hypothesis failed to be true as well. Interestingly, an interaction was found to be significant for social interaction and academic achievement. How Student Loans Have Affected The Cost Of Tuition In the 1980s a first year college student could attend a public four year university for $2,500 and a private university for a little over $5,000. Although, most of these universities are offering the same mediocre education from the last three decades; the cost of tuition has more than tripled for public universities and for private universities, it has gone up a staggering 85%. Canada holds an average educational cost of 5,974 and England follows with an estimated average cost of 5,288. In spite the tuition in the United States being more than twice that of its allies; the main problem contributing to the continuing rise of tuition are the billions of dollars owed in both federal and private student loans. Unfortunately, out of 15 countries the United States held the number one position when it came down to the cost of a higher education (including books, fees, room and board). With that being said, I will thoroughly explain in the following essay how student loans have affected the cost of tuition, compare US tuition to other countries, and analyze the average spending budget for most universities that prove to influence the rise in tuition. At some point, it was said that the United States had a high credit card debt that could take a few decades to pay off. Now student loans are the talk of the Federal Reserve, with the amount of loans accumulating up to $829.785 billion, surpassing the infamous credit card debt. • 18. The Cultural Conflicts Existing Within The Discipline Of... Question # 1: Leaving aside assignment 6 (Gibson/Key) what reading(s) did you find most compelling this week, and why? This week, singling out one compelling piece was hard, as I now see how all the pieces are linked. For example, I liked how Perestroika informs us of the trends existing within the discipline of political science, particularly the overrated focus on methods and techniques in political inquiry. I also liked how Perestroika highlights the cultural conflicts existing within the discipline, which is demonstrated by the behavior of APSR and various administrations and departments of the discipline. Perestroika dictates that the discipline needs to resolve its existing epistemological differences through tolerance and increase the understanding of these differences. Gregory Bateson s proposal for innovative thinking shows us new ways of dealing with knowledge and generating ideas. He speaks of what he calls the ecology of mind that is the aggregates of ideas. Bateson stipulates that the world we see is the world we perceive not necessarily because it exists, but because we edit the reality we see. This idea speaks to the scientific mode of inquiry, as Perestroika puts it: causality vs. meaning, objective vs. subjective, and certainty vs. skepticism. Bates suggests that the scientific research must be interactive and inclusive of the various methods of inquiry. While Bent Flyvbjerg starts with the question of whether theory is possible in ... Jesus presents an idea, which is not doing what the Pharisees and Scribes are doing. He explains this idea by providing examples of what they do in verses 5 7. The author also uses interchange because the focus in verses 1 7 is on the Pharisees and the Scribes and what they do. However, from verses 8 12, Jesus is focusing on the multitude and his ... However, this misinterpretation comes because of the lack of cultural understanding. Father was used to recognize someone in a high title, not a physical father. Another misinterpretation can be towards our spiritual leaders. Christians can force spiritual leaders to humble themselves because they must serve their congregation first. Also, heavier judgments and expectations can be made upon spiritual leaders because they are not to exalt themselves. A proper interpretation can come by looking through the historical and cultural lens. Jesus is not teaching people to deny their physical parents or judge spiritual leaders. He is rebuking the inconsistencies of the Pharisees and Scribes. They are being hypocrites, falsely leading his people. Therefore, he is teaching the true teacher and a father, which is in ... Furthermore, research noted empathic accuracy tends to increase with more interdependence and may be an important predictor of relationship results and social adjustment. The author asserts that research studies supporting these theoretic arguments are suggestive but limited as they have not addressed how class based perceptual tendencies may have pronounced effects on emotional processes. The current study was conducted in three different experiments. First, participants were tested on whether or not lower social class is related to an elevated empathic accuracy. In the second experiment, researchers tested whether or not social class predicts accuracy in judging emotions during interaction. • 41. Supraventricular Tachycardi A Case Study Supraventricular Tachycardia The heart is a muscular pump about the size of a fist. This muscle is continuously pumping blood to the circulatory system at a rate on average of 100,000 times a day. Arrhythmia s can cause an abnormal rhythm to this rate because of a change in the heart s electrical system. These arrhythmias can either cause the heart to beat too slowly, bradycardia, or tachycardia, where the heart beats too fast. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is one specific form of tachycardia. When a person develops SVT it causes the heart tissue to develop activity similar to a pacemaker in the upper chambers, or the region above the ventricles (AHA, 2015). This produces an abnormally fast heartbeat. Understanding this condition is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Short term treatment can include the use of vagal maneuvers. If these are not successful at halting or slowing the abnormal rhythm then calcium channel or beta blockers may be used. Long term treatment can include agents that block the atrioventricular node or class IC or III antiarrhythmics. Procainamide, ibutilide, flecainide, propafenone, and amiodarone can all be used to control the rhythm in patients (Carnell, J., Amandeep, S., 2008). For those patients that experience persistent episodes of SVT can have a catheter ablation procedure (Colucci, R et. al., 2010). A catheter ablation is a low risk procedure with a 90% success rate. This procedure uses radiofrequency heat in order to kill the area of the heart in which the irregular heartbeat is originating. The purpose of killing this area is to resort the heart back to its original rhythm. With this procedure, the abnormal tissue can be destroyed without causing any other damage to the heart. A doctor performs the catheter ablation by placing a sheath into the groin. The sheath is then filled with electrode catheters. Through these catheters, the doctor is able to send small electrical impulses, which helps locate the damaged tissue. Once the abnormal tissue is located the catheter is placed in that spot so that the radiofrequency can be sent into the tissue. This area is usually 1/5 of an inch (AMA, 2015). After the catheter ablation procedure, all of the abnormal tissue should be repaired and the patient should not experience anymore SVT episodes. They are then also able to return to normal daily activities within a few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Competitive Forces Analysis Of Amazon Competitive Forces Analysis. Amazon, Google, and Apple each have competitive advantages in various markets; however, one specific market proved difficult for Amazon to cultivate a competitive advantage. Shaping competition, the five forces, known as threats of new entrants, power of suppliers, power of buyers, threats of substitutes, and existing rivalry, determine industry profitability and influence the ability to gain competitive advantage (Rothaermel, 2017). Notably, failing to understand the forces can results in negative gains. Within the U.S. technology industry, the smartphone market has strong competitive forces, yet profit potential. In particular, the smartphone market has established firms, such as Google and Apple, each with large market shares, which lessens profitability potential for new entrants. Nevertheless, Amazon, pursuing a differentiation strategy, attempted to develop and market the Fire smartphone in 2014 to diversify business activities (Rothaemel McKay, 2015). One force Amazon encountered was the presence of entry barriers. Established firms, Google and Apple, had proven brand recognition, economies of scale, and loyal consumer base in the smartphone industry, and an entering firm, such as Amazon, faced risk. From Amazon s view, entering into the smartphone market required significant capital investment, with unpredictable effects, to develop a differentiated, price competitive product. Furthermore, the threat of substitutes was high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As for disease, antibiotics are always plentiful. Medicine is another subject of much dispute. Antibiotics are used frequently in livestock to treat many illnesses. Activists find this very troubling, saying antibiotics cause antibiotic resistant strains of pneumonia, childhood meningitis, gonorrhea, salmonella, and other serious illnesses. They also include that, 9,000 Americans die annually from food borne illness and an estimated 80 million others fall ill. • 47. Character Analysis Of Robinson Crusoe I take notice of here, those discontented people, who cannot enjoy comfortably what God has given them; because they see and covet something that He has not give them. Robinson Crusoe (Defoe 95). In the book, Robinson Crusoe the main character Robinson Crusoe was a man who made many choices, some of which were made selfishly, and without the guidance of God or other influential people of whom he should have listened to. Throughout his life Crusoe learned many things through experience. His relationship with God as well as his character improved along his journey and strengthened when he allowed them to. Crusoe s well aspired dream of becoming a sailor affected his relationship with God and ultimately began his journey of growth. At age 19, Robinson Crusoe decided he was not going to go on to work in law, as his father had planned for him, but that he was going to be a sailor. His father attempted to convince Crusoe of his disapproval and to prevent him from becoming a sailor. Crusoe however decided against what his father had said and left home even though he was told not to. In the book he says, I consulted neither my mother or father any more, nor so much as sent them word of it; but leaving them to hear of it as they might, without asking God s blessing, or my father s, without any consideration of circumstances or consequences, and in an ill hour, God knows, on the first of September 1651I went on board a ship bound for London. (Defoe 4). In his time as a sailor he was a part of 4 separate voyages, all of which resulted in narrow escapes of death for Crusoe, but despite the fact that God was obviously trying to give signs to him of why he should not have been a sailor, Crusoe blames bad luck and fate for his troubles, and continues to disobey his parents, and God. At this point of his life, Crusoe was a selfish man who thought of what was best for himself, and ignored others opinions, and did not seek God s help in his times of need. A little later in life, with his bad luck along his journeys continuing, Crusoe survives a shipwreck on his way to Guinea, in which all of his fellow sailors are killed. He survived by the grace of God and somehow swam his way to a deserted island. Although just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the world, based on facts that have been frequently confirmed through observation and experiment or is often just speculations. Is evolution just a theory? Evolution is considered a valid scientific theory as it cannot be expressed in a concise mathematical equation so it is referred to as a theory, which does not make it more accurate than a law. Natural selection, comparative embryology, comparative anatomy, DNA and scientific contributions all support the theory of evolution. Comparative embryology also shows that many different life forms experience similar stages of development, which points to common origins. Comparative anatomy is the study of similarities and differences in the anatomy of different species. It is closely related to evolutionary biology and phylogeny (evolution of species).
