The Female Characters In Lucy, By Jamaica Kincaid
Lucy Josephine Potter and Mariah, are two of the main female characters in Jamaica Kincaid s novel,
Lucy, which was published in 1990 (Sparknotes). Although the two women reside together in the first
part of the story, it is as if they possess two different consciousness .
Lucy Potter, a Caribbean teenager nineteen years of age, has come to the United States as an au pair.
She is employed by Mariah to take care of her four daughters. Mariah is a middle class housewife who
appears to have the ideal American family. Most likely the story takes place during the late 1960 s and
1970 s. During this period of time, there was a large influx of immigrants who arrived from the
Caribbean, seeking employment and a more prosperous lifestyle. Much of story deals with their
relationship of these two women and their interactions. Mariah often makes an effort to connect with
Lucy, however their perspectives of life s events often contradict each other. Jamaica Kincaid s (born
as Elaine Potter Richardson) stories have been described as autobiographical or memoir fiction. This
is for the reason that, there often exists frequent similarities between her own life experiences and
those of the protagonists in her stories. The same is true of the novel, Lucy. While reading Lucy, one
wonders how many of the author s secrets are hidden within the narratives and events that take place.
Kincaid and Lucy are both from the small island of Antigua. Their homeland is a post colonial society

Assessment of Therapeutic Effects of Subcutaneous...
Background and Objective: Neurologic literatrure about therapeutic effect of subcutaneous
corticosteroids in patients with migrainous chronic daily headache is scare. Aim of this research is
assessment of therapeutic effects of this management in the patients.
Methods: Consecutive patients with migrainous chronic daily headache in our headache clinic
enrolled a prospective before and after therapeutic study during 2010 2013. Fourty mg
Metylprednisolone was divided in four subcutaneous injection doses. Two injections were done in
right and left suboccipital area exactly at retromastoid cervicocranial junction and two injections were
performed in lower medial frontal area exactly at medial right and left eye brow limit. A headache
daily was filled out by the patient before and one month after intervention. The severity of pain was
classified based on the Pain Intensity Instrument, using a 0 to 10 point numeric rating scale. Paired t
test and Chi square served for statistical analysis.
Results: 504 patients (378 females, 126 males) with migrainous chronic daily headache underwent the
study. Dramatic, significant, moderate and mild or no improvement constituted 28.6%, 33.3%, 23.8%,
and 14.3% of the post treatment courses respectively. Therapeutic effect of intervention on mean pain
scores was significant; t=7.38, df=20, p=.000. Two cases developed subcutaneous fat atrophy in
frontal injection site and 3 cases experienced syncope during injection.
Conclusion: Subcutaneous

The Effects Of Environmental Diverty And Environmental...
Explaining how global poverty and environmental decay are twin problems would be a lot less
difficult to do if many other factors were not included in this issue. What mainly affects these
problems is the fact that people in this day in age have a massive urge to want more in every aspect of
life more money, more technology, more materialistic items what is not being taken into serious
consideration is the fact that our wants outweigh our needs, and our Earth is the only thing that can not
continue to grow with the growth of our wants. In such a fast developing country like our own, we fail
to forget how our materialistic needs and the drive to always stay on top ultimately effects our
physical Earth and the rest of the underdeveloped countries in the world. The primary concern is that a
world of over six billion people striving materialistic satisfaction is drawing ever more heavily from
finite supplies of natural resources to fuel an economic growth model destined to lead to an ecological
disaster and global poverty without precedence (Harder and Harder 1). As Harder and Harder explain,
we must find an economic way of life that is economically stable. There are many different
perspectives that view economic growth in different aspects. Advocates of economic growth have a
very optimistic viewpoint about the future of economic growth. Their operational logic reflects their
sense of duty to develop latent resources into their actualized state for the benefit of a global

Abortion And Its Effects On Society
Abortion in Society
The modern world today is brought together by many different cultures, beliefs, thoughts, opinions
and morals. Which makes life difficult at times and causes people to not get along when differences
can not be set aside. There are many issues and topics that are the root of these problems, which may
never be solved and more than likely will never be solved based on characteristics of cultures and
beliefs. Abortion is a very diverse topic in today s society for which there may never be a correct
answer to live up to everyone s morals, but both sides present persuasive facts and opinions to justify
their beliefs. Recent data found in a Pew Research Center Poll shows the support for abortion is as
high as it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the United Kingdom provocative images of the fetus generated by four dimensional
ultrasonography have fuelled a reassessment of fetal capabilities along with suggestions that the fetus
can respond both emotionally and cognitively. Subsequent political and media discussion in the
United Kingdom has debated changing abortion laws and procedures to mitigate against fetal pain
(DerbyShire). This could impact the choices of many tremendously, if society would ever talk about
abortion in a civilized manner even though it is very hard to discuss, many lives could be saved.
A lot of people believe that more than half of abortions are because of teens. Whether they are too
immature or they are not using contraceptives. Although sometimes that is true, although most
abortions are not because of teen pregnancies. According to Jeff Jones, minors accounted for only
about forty percent of abortions and these happened without their parents or guardians ever knowing.
Point three percent of abortions in 2013 were by fifteen year olds and younger (Jones). While teens are
a very small portion of abortions adults are the vast majority. Unmarried women in 2013 held
responsible for 85.2% of all abortions (Jones). Which could argue that they are the ones being more
irresponsible than minors. Then twenty fiver perfect of abortions were because the mothers were not
ready for a child (Jones). Which makes adults sound more immature because

Being Wrong is not Always a Bad Thing
Being Wrong is not Always a Bad Thing Watching Kathryn Schulz s Ted Talk On being wrong is an
outlook on reality that people these days don t look at or even have considered. What Schulz does is
explain why overachievers or people who want to be perfect are stuck in this little box of perfection
and that we need to get out. Being Wrong is one of the most natural things us as humans can do. It is
something that everyone of us has done at one time or another, no one is ever perfect. And if so why
don t we accept our wrongness, ignore or even get embarrassed by it. Schulz says that we have been
taught perfection all the way back to grade school, and that if we as people didn t get everything right
or perfect that we were stupid or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barger feels that being wrong is just human nature, and that no matter how intelligent or what position
you hold in society you will not always be right.
Barger explains his personally connection of why he believes in uncertainty. He is an evangelical
Christian and a pastor, that struggled to accept the fact that he is gay since it was against the
fundamentals of his religion. He was so certain that he wasn t homosexual for years but in the process
he was actually hurting himself. Barger tells us that his belief in uncertainty is becoming greater due
to all the certainty around him, for example religious leaders or members are very certain that their
actions whether it be acts of terrorism or war will guarantee their place in heaven or with their gods.
Certainty can drive people to do crazy things and to Barger it can almost be like your mind is in a
prison, but just the simple act of being uncertain can make a man a better person.
Ted Gup author of the essay In Praise of the Wobblies was someone who always stood in the middle,
never really took either side of an argument. He felt like he was in no man s land even though he
agreed and disagreed with both sides he always tried to look and find his place. He describes to us an
incident during an internship interview, how he was surrounded by people that knew everything there
was about the topics they were given to explain but he stood right in the middle, he knew not too
much but not too little. Thinking

Essay Fucus Sprial Research on Water
Coal is found in deeper layers of earth. To retrieve coal from those layers, underground tunnels need to
build. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were
installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean
(Wilkinson 2011, 3).
Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over
years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural
drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). In case of the project, this happens through the outfall which is
right above high water spring tide. The water that is released through the outfall is not as clean as the

During spring tide, the tidal amplitude is very large.
The opposite is called neap tide and occurs when sun and moon are at right angles. The gravitational
attractions act in opposition and the tidal amplitude is very low.
7.4 Rocky shore
These shores were shaped by different natural forces. Those forces include the rise and fall of tides,
wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist of rocky ledges, boulders and
pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be found.
Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The zones vary in
diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone (Little 2009, 17).
The top of the shore is bare rock and living organisms such as littorinid snails or lichens can be found
there. This zone is called splash zone as it above high tide mark and therefore perpetually out of water
(Little 2009, 18).
The second zone is called littoral zone (or intertidal) and has its boundaries defined as distance
between very highest and very lowest spring tide. The lower, middle and upper shore are included into
this zone and there is a varying degree of exposure to seawater, depending on the tide. Organisms
living there must be able to cope with fluctuating air and breaking waves. Rock pools and Fucus
spiralis are found in this part of the rocky shore (Little 2009, 18).
The lowest zone is the so called sublittorial zone and

Education Is Not An Obligation
Education is a privilege not an obligation. Being blessed with the opportunity to apply for college, let
alone go to college, is something some kids never get to see. Getting a degree is important because it
is a gift only a small portion of the population has access to. Being able to grow academically as well
as spiritually, physically, and emotional are just a few of the many benefits. It is my aspiration to
attend the university of my dream and be changed into a better version of myself through the process
of graduation; however, before that can happen, I must decide which school is right for me. When I
first started to research colleges, I came across LSU, Louisiana State University, a large school with
about 26, 156 undergraduates located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (www.collegeboard.com). Due to the
fact, my family was originally from Louisiana, LSU was a household name for me. Though I was
familiar with the university, I came to realize I actually knew very little about the majors it offered as
well as many other important factoids. For instance, I was completely oblivious to their very high
admission rate as well as their fairly low SAT and ACT entrance scores. While most colleges have a
baseline starting point of 1300 or higher out of 1600 for SAT, most LSU applicants score between a
1100 1320 (collegeboard.com). As I did further research on Louisiana State, I discovered they offered
many of the majors I am interested in. LSU has more than 235 academic field of

Analysis Of Saskia Sassen, A Leading Globalization Scholar
Saskia Sassen argues that for one to understand the contemporary globalization, it is crucial for an
individual to examine how the historical assemblages of authority, territory and right have been
remade and reworked on. (Sassen, 2006) The ideas of Saskia Sassen, a leading globalization scholar,
are helpful in the analysis of the debate about the movement of refugees in the wake of the Paris
attacks. Saskia stipulates that something really big is happening behind globalization. (Sassen, 2006)
She is interested at the point where globalization gets messy. Although globalization is good for the
economy, there are other things that get associated with it eliciting a debate on the opening and closing
borders for the refugees in the wake of Paris attack. As the states are trying to implement the cross
border policies, whether they are as a result of the international human rights regimes or the global
economic system, they have undergone some vital transformations since this kind of accommodation
requires negotiation. For the global economy, this particular negotiation involves developments inside
the national states and entails legislative acts, executive orders, court rulings and policy making
mechanisms. Citizenship, the fundamental institution that qualifies one to be a member of a nation, is
being destabilized partly by the present developments connected with globalization. Certain major
transformations are taking place in the today s world due to the effects of

Social Strain Theory And Rational Choice Theory In...
Criminology is an interdisciplinary science that gathers and analyzes data on crime and criminal
behavior. As I learned about criminology I learned that there are several theories that come along with
it. The two theories in criminology that stood out the most to me were social strain theory and rational
choice theory. These theories stood out to me because I felt like these were two that I can truly see
how the people who developed them came about. Social strain theory was created by Robert Merton
in the 1940s. Robert Merton is a very famous sociologist who accomplished a lot throughout his
career. He spent a lot of his time studying at Colombia University. He also was the first sociologist
that received a National Medal of Science Award. Merton came up with the strain theory as an
explanation as to why crime rate was so high. Rational choice theory was created by Ronald Clarke
and Derek Cornish. Ronald Clarke was a professor who severed as a dean at the School of Criminal
Justice. He was there was longer than a decade. Clarke also had a very successful career. An important
and most noted part of his career is him being given the highest award in criminology. The highest
awards was the Stockholm Prize in Criminology. Clarke has also written several books and help
developed several things in Britain s government. Cornish worked in the department of social science
at London School of Economics. Rational choice theory was created to explain why and how every
human who commits a crime is faced with a choice.
Theory A
Social Strain Theory is one of the many theories in criminology. According to our textbook, the
definition of social strain theory better known as strain theory is that crime is generated from the
acceptance of middle class values that emphasize financial success while certain segments of the
population are restricted from attaining monetary success by legitimate means. Essentially this means
that everybody does not have the same opportunities. It means that sometimes people do want to
achieve more but it hard for them. As you grow, one of the main things you are taught as a child is the
American Dream. The dream that tells you one day you will be successful with a family and good job
to support.

World Wrestling Entertainment Case Analysis
World Wrestling Entertainment began its operations in 1952 under the ownership of Vince McMahon
Sr. as the Capitol Wrestling Federation. Since 1952, the WWE has gone through 3 name changes.
(WWWF, NWA, WWF) The WWF saw such stars as Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Bret Hart, and
countless other wrestlers. During the time of WWF, Vince McMahon brought his product to pay per
view which created huge revenue for WWF at the time. The WWE can now be found on local
television on Monday nights, pay per view, magazines, and consumer products. The WWE is not just

Most international markets don t have their own wrestling promotions and if they do, they are
definitely not even close to being on the same level as the WWE. The WWE has international
television deals across the world, which allows fans to be located all around the world.
With addition to Strenghts, Weaknesses, and Opportunity, then comes threats to the World Wrestling
Entertainment industry. When WWE bought out their major competitor, World Championship
Wrestling in 2001, they basically had no other competitors. Competitors now in 2013 are UFC, TNA,
and MMA. These are all basically the same thing because they all are real fights and not an
Entertainment show much like WWE. All of which now have pay per view deals but not as many as
WWE. Another threat can be caused by TV ratings weekly. Monday night raw falls on Mondays,
which almost everyone knows who the competitor is on Monday nights, the National Football League.
The WWE will always lose viewers because of repetitive stories or the fact that it can just get dull
after a while. I am one of those viewers who drifted away from watching because of so many

Irish Dance Paper
Irish Dance: A Marvelous Dance
Irish step dancing has existed since the 1700 s, over 300 years. Families in Ireland have passed down
Irish step dance from generation to generation as a way of preserving their culture. While the meaning
of the dance remains the same, the performance and showmanship has changed dramatically. From
girls and boys with pale skin and natural hair to girls with fake tanned skin, huge curly wigs, and
thousand dollar dresses and boys with fake tanned skin and outlandish outfits. Irish dance has become
more of a spectacle such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Those dances are some of the most
enjoyable and respected around the world. Over time this type of dance has taken on a life of its own

Taking methods of the dance or stick with the traditional movements and showing them in a way that
would be more interesting to the public. Which is what was done with Riverdance and Lord of the
Dance, which take the form of the dance and use it for a dramatic necessity.
There are various parts of Irish dance that have lasted throughout the years to remain an influence on
the form known today. These basics have laid the foundation on which the dance has grown.
Performed mainly during festivals, which date from the period of Eric the Red and the Viking raids of
Ireland. While the Vikings did destroyed most books and written records, it was acknowledged that
music and dance were important to the Gaelic culture. These festivals were a mixture of trade fair,
political gathering, music, dance, sports, story telling and crafts. Today, the sole purposes of feiseanna
are competitive dance competitions. There is still music, crafts, and trades, not as much. Officially
there is no political aspect to the festivals anymore, many who participate would tell you otherwise.
The reason that the traditional dance has remained apart of the world is because of the teachers and
students. But in order to dance the students required movements, steps, and music to put them to. The
dance masters teachers of the 18th and 19th centuries all had the same original dance steps, while they
invented their own steps on top the original ones. There are two different roots, which

Diagnosing Car Repair
If you are thinking of car repair, there are certain things you should know. For starters, you must
realize that the exercise can be divided into various categories in order to address different issues. For
instance, there are basic repairs, which can be carried out even by a beginner or anyone who owns a
vehicle. Then there are the advanced repairs, which can only be carried out by people with technical
knowledge. Things like oil change and changing tires can fit in the first category hence you can carry
them out yourself.
Another important thing to note is about checkups. Even though you might not intend to do any repair
work on your own, a huge percentage of checkups are your responsibility. For instance, you have to

Even though there are many providers offering these services, you should note that some might not be
of much help. This could be due to the high price they charge or lack of the required expertise.
When trying to address this, you should visit different providers to find out how they go about the
process. The best providers should diagnose the problem first before stating the cost. Remember, some
of them might charge for the diagnostic process, so this should be stated before they begin. Of course,
it would be nice if you find a provider who does not charge for diagnosing the problem.
Even though you might be interested in low cost providers, you should never compromise on service
quality. Most of the problems might have different fixes, but it is good to go for those that do not
compromise the safety of the vehicle and also offer a long term solution.
In most cases, you will find that the best car repair service will be offered at mid range prices. With
this in mind, you can be sure to get a good provider. Remember, regardless of your knowledge level in
car maintenance issues, your input is very important for satisfactory

Animals are the beginning to the best nerve wrecking filled love you could ever dream of for your life.
Ever since I was a young child, I ve always resonated with the idea of helping animals more so than
anyone and anything else in this world. My love for animals had begun when I was a mere four years
old. I ve always had pets: dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, and much more. To find out more about
how to help adoptable animals in shelters, I contacted Amanda Smasal, a community outreach
coordinator at Wayside Waifs. Wayside Waifs is no kill shelter located in Kansas City, Missouri which
has adoptable dogs and cats, ready and willing to go to safe, loving homes. When I first emailed
Smasal asking if she would participate in the interview, I felt overwhelming fear and began to panic
about the whole encounter. The fear of having to ask someone I had never met to talk with me is
something that scares me. Nonetheless, I sent the email asking politely yet efficiently to see if she
would give me a few of her precious minutes to answer questions about a cause worth fighting for:
animal rescue hospitals. She quickly responded to my quaint email approximately a day later stating
she would happily answer any and all questions I have, significant or insignificant. The questions took
a couple days to figure out. The few days I had to create the questions were filled with creativity and a
tad bit of questionable ideas. The questions I asked her were the things I would want to

Relationship Between the Muscular System and Its...
Each body part has a specific role within the community of the human body. When working properly,
each system is contributing to maintaining homeostasis as well. The purpose of this essay is to discuss
the relationship between the muscular system and how it contributes to the overall health and balance
of the body it is placed within. The essay will discuss the function of the muscular system, the
organization of the system and how it contributes to homeostasis. The muscular system is the part of
the body that assists with motor function and movement. There are three types of muscles in the
human body that are included within this system. Smooth muscles are involuntary and are found
inside organs such as the stomach and throat. Skeletal muscles are voluntary and are located
everywhere throughout the body. The third type of muscles are cardiac muscles that are involuntary
and keep your heart beating. While most people associate muscles with strength, they do more than
assist in lifting heavy objects. The 650 muscles in the body not only support movement controlling
walking, talking, sitting, standing, eating and other daily functions that we consciously perform.
Muscles also help to maintain posture and circulate blood and other substances throughout the body,
among other functions. Muscles can also be identified by their function. The flexor group of the
forearm flexes the wrist and the fingers. The supinator is a muscle that supinates the wrist by rolling it

Father Diego Dur An Advocate For The Aztecs Of The Aztec...
Father Diego Durán was a Dominican priest in Mexico after the Spanish conquest of the Aztec
Empire. He was born in Selville, Spain in 1537 but moved to New Spain as a child. He originally
lived in Texcoco but eventually moved to Mexico City and became a priest in 1556. He became fluent
in the native language Nahuatl and gained the inhabitants trust with his understanding nature and
respect for their culture. He used his experiences and access to first hand knowledge to write three
books, The Ancient Calendar, The History of the Indies of New Spain, and The Book of Gods and
Rites, collectively known as the Durán Codex.
Durán was an advocate for the Aztecs living in New Spain, but he was still a Catholic priest who saw
everything he did through the lense of potential conversion. During his extensive study of the local
culture he came to see the parallels between his faith and indigenous religion as evidence of
Abrahamic religion having been brought to the New World and corrupted by the Devil. The only way,
according to Durán, to truly root out the satanic practices of the Mesoamerican religions was to
understand them. He wrote the Durán Codex to both help that missionary work and satisfy his own
curiosity.
The Book of Gods and Rites was written from 1574 to 1576. Fifty years before that, Hernan Cortez
had taken over the Aztec Empire and toppled it s capital city Tenochtitlan. After the Spanish took over

allowed faster assembly lines. Whitney met Catherine Greene, a widow of a Revolutionary war

Impact Of The African Slave Trade
The impact on the African slave trade during 16th centuries to 19th centuries was huge. The economy
of those countries which allowed African slave trade grew bigger and bigger. For instance, America, a
huge land that had nothing before the trade, started to gain some profit out of farming and increased
hugely on population. They used a big amount of African slaves to farm and work. And this created
the economy better in America. Also Europeans, which were only one million people brought up 5.5
million African slaves (men, women, children) to the Western Hemisphere. 80 % out of 5.5 million

The first thing that needs to be established is just how many slaves were brought to the Americas. This
has proven to be quite difficult at best. There have been many scholars debate just this subject alone.
As you will see, many well known scholars have problems justifying their own estimations or guesses.
A quick study of Philip D. Curtin s work: From Guesses to Calculations: Shows his writings are a
compilation of bits n pieces of information from previously thought of unimportant publishing s. His
sole purpose was to try to determine a more accurate account of the number of people brought over
from what parts of Africa and to what final location. He goes on to make it clear his findings should
not be construed as being accurate or to be relied upon with any degree of certainty: but rather an
accuracy range of about 20% approximations.
It should also be understood that some estimates would not even reach that standard of accuracy. They
are given as the most probable figures at the present state of knowledge. These considerations have

Utilising A Wide Range Of Sources Critically Evaluate And...
Utilising a wide range of sources critically evaluate and discuss the following statement:
Dangerousness is said to be socially constructed.
Dangerousness is a term that is used in various settings such as legal, academic, administrative and
popular discourse (Bennett, n.d:3.). The meaning of the term can vary throughout the different settings
(ibid). In criminology the term often corresponds with acts of violence, and is used to label an
offenders potential level of risk of harm they may cause (Farrington and Tarling, 1985:175). Someone
who is labelled as dangerous is thought to pose as a threat or risk to society. However, dangerousness
is not easily defined; it can actually cover a range of factors; which makes it more of an umbrella
term. For example, three distinct constructs such as risk factors, potential harm, and risk level are used
to determine dangerousness (Greene and Wrightsman, 2007:263). Nevertheless, even though the term
lacks a clear and concise definition, it is used on a daily basis to make very important decisions
regarding offenders who have been previously convicted of a specified offence such as, a violent
offence, or a sexual offence (Legislation.gov.uk, 2003). Society is becoming increasingly obsessed
with danger or risks to health and safety, and anxiety and fear are becoming a more dominated feature
in everyday life (Furedi, 2007:198). It is thought that dangerousness is a product of societal
construction, this essay will assess how

Essay On College Sports
When it comes to the topic of college athletics, most of us will readily agree that college sports are a
great opportunity to go to college for someone who otherwise would not be able to attend. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether colleges need to focus more on
learning over athletics. Whereas some are convinced that sports can lower academic standards for
admission just to play a sport, others maintain that college sports bring in lots of extra revenue and
help students get a quality education at a price they can afford to pay. While sports can increase
revenue and attention, colleges are made to further students education and prepare them for the career
path they have chosen. Universities nowadays are almost built completely around sports. Athletics
haul in billions of dollars annually for universities and draw in crowds of over 100,000 people for only
a single game. While these are great for fans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When student athletes get enrolled in more basic, easy classes and make good grades, it makes it look
as if they are putting as much work as the more accomplished students. Scholarships offered by these
schools can also put non athletes at a disadvantage due to the athlete receiving special benefits that a
plain student with the same grades would not otherwise receive. If this happens, it shows that colleges
truly do prioritize athletics over academics.
Though college sports are extremely enjoyable and profitable for universities, education should be
prioritized over athletic participation and there should not be any lowered standards for student
athletes. The main focus of college is to make it to one s career, not to make it to a professional sports
league. Going in with that mentality will achieve nothing and possibly even hurt your chances of

Early part of the 20th century epilepsy was linked with insanity; people believed that the Holy Spirit
was working them. In Third World cultures epilepsy continue to be defined in super natural terms.
Recently a community study in Nigeria found that after heredity, witch craft was the cause of epilepsy
amongst the lay populace (Awaritefe et al, 1985). Danesi (1984) has revealed that most Nigerians with
epilepsy experience it as highly stigmatizing and something to be hidden from others but through
medical discoveries and medical advances we know that epilepsy is caused by abnormal neurological
activity that occurs as a result of damage or result to the brain. Epilepsy is now controlled by
carbamazepine tablets and sodium valproate which controls the seizures however, what we all know is
subject to reinterpretation. At any time new technological advances, new medical discoveries, new

We Must Live Streaming And Broadcasting
Introduction
Live streaming and broadcasting allow us to see what is happening around the world just as it
happens. The way live broadcasting is done now is completely different than how it was done in
previous years. First, only televisions could do live transmission because of the heavy and costly
equipment that was needed but with the boost in social media and technology, anyone can shoot,
upload and make the video go viral and reach out to the people by just using the mobile device. No
filters, no editing, just live rolling news or coverage, by everyone for everyone.
The audience gets most of their news from the internet and social media these days. Facebook,
YouTube, and Twitter all have introduced the Live feature. World Wide Worx MD, Arthur Goldstuck

content accelerating in take up, and becoming the preferred medium for content, especially among
younger users. We will see many more innovations in how content is delivered to or from phones in
the coming years, as it will be seen as an opportunity for differentiation in an environment where the
physical form factor provides ever decreasing opportunities for doing so.

The Impact of Humans on the Biological Diversity of Natural Ecosystems
Introduction
Since humans have come into existence they have always been a cause of change of whatever natural
areas they inhabit along with the living organisms of those natural areas. The different types of
organisms such as plants, animals, and microorganisms that inhabit these areas are known as
biological diversity or biodiversity. (USEPA 2010 ) Biological diversity can be affected by many
different things, climate change, and area being two specific things. Humans fit into a strange niche of
biological diversity. While we have a part of biodiversity and in ecosystems, the human race has

Eventually all rivers lead and empty out into oceans which means said chemicals are dumped into the
ocean. These chemicals, waste, and debris float freely into the human population water supply and

human population growth can cause extinction of species, populations, communities, etc. due to the
lack of regard or concern of how the biodiversity of natural ecosystems affects all species in the long

How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Othello
Othello is a play about suffering; every character in the play has some cruel compounce: not a single
being in the play escapes their harsh fate. Fate is the driving force of Othello, This is shown through
the ease of deception by Iago, the various religious influences spread throughout. as well as the meta
analysis present in most of shakespeare s plays. Deception is used throughout the play by Iago,
however it is not the driving force as said by Alyssa Brown. Othello has the fairly typical theme of
deception. Self deception is also a theme (Alyssa Brown, Brown/A/Deception). Deception does not
exist in the play. The characters have no freewill and cannot be deceived. This play uses deception
wrong according to Shakespeare. Usually, Shakespeare uses deception to a positive end of the players.
When used in tragedies, Romeo and Juliet use deception to further their love, although it does
ultimately end with their deaths, it ends with the Montague and Capulet families coming together.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church
Spirituality has a unique definition for every individual. As for myself, my spirituality is the path to
my eternal life through my savior Jesus Christ. As a follower of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido
Church, the church has taught me the way of life and how to constantly mend myself toward the right
path while serving others. To begin with, the country I grew up in, Ethiopia is truly a combination of
the two worlds because it is the first country to accept Christianity and Islam before even the
Europeans did. What differs the Ethiopian Orthodox Church is the replica of the Ark of the Covenant

from the bottom of my heart; and I should be helping just because I am a human and that I can. From
the religious perspective at the same time, my soul will be filled with joy when I help others; and in a
way, I will be fulfilling the words of God as written in the bible. Because the foundation of all

For the Australian fairy tale, it has been a long journey in search of nationhood identity. With the
enduring legacy of Australia s history as a settler colony there was no surprise that it invested the
landscape with strangeness and it became a part of the dream like world within fairy tales. Through
the history of Australian literary culture, the mythology of the bush tradition has been a powerful
voice in the Australian cultural context, which continues to have strong force in creating national
identity. However, it has become an inaccurate form of cultural identity. Here I will show how the

The Father Of Feminism In Madame Bovary
Flaubert is presented in the history of literature as the father of realism. I myself am Madame Bovary .
In his fabulous novel Madame Bovary he was able to metamorphose himself into a woman. The work
has revealed Flaubert s narcissism, his onanism, his idealism, his solitude, his dependence, his
feminity, his passivity (Sartre 15). The protagonist of Flaubert s Madame Bovary, is a nineteenth
century romantic woman, who dreamt futilely of escaping from a life that has become a prison to her.
She has got a highly romanticised view of the world and craves beauty, passion and wealth. The first
glimpse that we have of Emma is through Charles eyes. Flaubert creates a fragmentary and
progressive portrait of Emma, the whiteness of her nail, her deep black eyes, and her full lips. She was
soaked and whipped by the men who took everything from her and dipped her into the marshy
grounds of adultery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Emily Grierson Change
A wise monkey once said, You can either run from the past or learn from it (The Lion King). Other
people, however, choose to live in the past. In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, the main
character struggles to move on with her life. Emily Grierson cannot accept change. This can be seen in
the manner she reacts to her father s death, the changing society, and the thought of Homer Barron
leaving her. To better understand the story, William Faulkner uses various symbols throughout the
story: a rose, the house, and Miss Emily s hair. On the surface, roses typically remind people of love.

Miss Emily s hair relates to her femininity. After her father s death, Emily is described as looking like
a child even though she s in her thirties. When we saw her again, her hair was cut short, making her
look like a girl, with a vague resemblance to those angels in colored church windows sort of tragic and
serene (Faulkner 5). Her father would not let any suitor give her the figurative rose, so after his death
Emily is left alone and sexually immature. During the next few years it grew grayer and grayer until it
attained an even pepper and salt iron gray, when it ceased turning (Faulkner 7). Emily s hair turning
gray represents the death of her sexuality. At the end of the story, the town discovers a strand of Emily
s hair next to the corpse of her deceased almost husband. Emily found a love that would never leave,
which again reinforces the idea of stubbornness and controlling behavior. The symbolism in this story
is tragic, which reflects the tragedy Miss Emily has

Neuropsychology
Introduction
Neuropsychology is one of the many braches of psychology.
Explanation of Neuropsychology and Relevance to the Field of Psychology Neuropsychology is the
study of brain behavior relationships (Barkley, 1983). It is the scientific study of the association
between the different structures and physiological processes of the nervous system and the behavior of
organisms (Barkley, 1983). The focus of this particular field in psychology is not just pertaining to
humans as research on infrahumans consistently provides simple scientific information and data from
which research ideas on humans will be drawn/ concluded from (Barkley, 1983). For example,
research that was conducted on rats involved giving amphetamines to the rats with given closed head
injuries yielded the option of exploring the use of stimulant drugs in helping the recovery of adults and
children that have experienced accidental closed head trauma (Barkley, 1983). The field includes the
study of developmental changes of the nervous system and it s behavioral parallels as well as the
effects of experimental and also accidental changes of the nervous system on the behavior of an
individual (Barkley, 1983). Essentially, clinical neuropsychology is the application of this information
and knowledge, as well as knowledge from other fields of psychology, to the testing and treatment of
humans having showed or performed signs of neurological illnesses or diseases (Barkley, 1983).

Explain The Purpose Of An Operating System
Explain the purpose of an Operating System: Operating Systems manage hardware and provide
services for application software; this means that it makes it easier for users to interact with different
software and hardware available on the computer. The most common operating systems are Windows,
Mac OS X, and Linux. While each OS is different, they all provide a graphical user interface GUI a
GUI allows users to click and drag objects with a mouse instead of entering text at a command line.
Characteristics of an Operating System: Multi User allows multiple users to use the same computer at
the same time or different times. The most common and most well known OS that use s multi user is
Windows 7. Multitasking is performing more than one task at the same time, a task being a program.
Multiprocessing is the support of more than one processor at the same time. Applications in a multi
processing system are broken into smaller routines that run by themselves. Multithreading is the
operating system process to manage its use by more than one user at a time or manage multiple tasks
by the same user without having the need of multiple copies of the program running on the computer.
GUI (Graphical User Interface) allows users to click and drag objects with a mouse instead of entering

opening files, deleting files, and moving files. Main four functions of an Operating System: Control

Most people use lie to cover more lies but Peter was a character who didn t care about lying. He

than facing the consequences. If someone knew Ivan Ilych it was Peter although most of the time he

people want because he would be backstabbing everyone all the time. He would make himself look in
front of people and say what people want to hear in front of everyone. A quote from the novella that
explains how fake peter was is when the narrator says, Praskovya Fedorovna recognizing Peter

Ultimately, these men in addition to Nazi collaborators, everyday people doing their duty, and Hitler s
military machine were responsible for engineering the Holocaust. How did the goals change from
expulsion to mass extermination? The answer is that unless Nazi ideology were to change, the
contingencies of war made it a necessity. Germany and the Nazi regime had an expansive outline for
the execution of their goals. A predominant force in their agenda was the notion of Judenpolitik, or
how they would approach the treatment of European Jewry. The Nazis had drawn up plans for the

management, the Nazis settled for Ghettos as a provisional measure. The vehicle for dealing with the
Jews in the early stages of the war was through a system of segregation in Europe, coined
Ghettoization. These quasi internment camps acted as the Nazis main device to control the Jewish
population, just short of exterminating them. In fact, the Nazis always strived to be rid of the Jewish
population, however the jump from the notion of deportation to the wanton destruction of millions of
lives through mass shootings, gassings, and savage work details was abrupt. Additionally, the fact that
often the Germans were aided by collaborators in the lands they invaded should make

The Centres For Disease Control Released A Report Essay
Plan/Problem
On September 24th 2014, the Centres for Disease Control released a report stating the United States of
America has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the developed world, with a rate of 6.1 infant
deaths per 1000 live births.
Sarah C P Williams from the John Hopkins University in the United States, published a report for the
Stanford University School of Medicine identifying that that poor infant survival rates in the United
States are intrinsically linked to high rates of preterm births those that occur when a woman is
between 22 and 37 weeks pregnant, rather than the full term of 37 41 weeks.
When a fetus has experienced a gestation period of 37 weeks, it s organ systems are defined mature
and are able to support and sustain life.
When a fetus experiences a shortened period of gestation, their organ systems are underdeveloped.
They do not have fully formed lungs, their nervous system and brain connection are not established
and their senses are still in the process of maturing. By all accounts, the fetus is fragile and is
unprepared to support and sustain life in the extra uterine environment.
Baby Centre, a digital parenting and pregnancy resource supplies a gestational timeline and outlook
for premature babies. It states that
almost all infants born earlier than 28 weeks require oxygen and mechanical assistance to support their
breathing. Infants at this age are unable to breathe while simultaneously sucking and swallowing so

The Changes in Society’s Views on Interracial Dating over...
In each generation, it seems as if there is always a very controversial issue. It usually varies from the
legalization of marijuana or the lowering of the drinking age all the way to the views on abortions.
However, one thing is clear, the issue on interracial relationships is still as controversial today as it
was nearly fifty years ago. While times may have changed and society has gotten used to these
interracial relationships, it s still something that is being talked about regularly. Starting in the 1960 s,
the issue on interracial relationships became more relevant. It sparked much controversy after a couple
from Virginia was arrested for participating in an interracial relationship. The case, Loving versus
Virginia, was taken to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Paul R. Spickard, race is derived from an individual s physical features, gene pools and
character qualities (Chávez and DiBrito 40). Counselors Gita Seshadri and Carmen Knudson Martin
define race as the social identification attached to physical traits such as skin and hair color, despite
huge variations among people that are considered a part of a particular racial group (44). In that case,
what is considered to be an interracial relationship? Rose M. Kreider of the Census Bureau defined an
interracial relationship as one in which the spouses are identified as falling into different categories
where the choices are: American Indian, Asian, Black, White and Hispanic (11). While there are many
different types of interracial relationships, as stated by Rose M. Kreider, in America most people
understand interracial relationships to be between black and white couples. Now, the question is: why
are these relationships such a big deal? Why are they so controversial? The answer to this question
varies upon who one talks to, most importantly what community. For example, in David Crary s
article, he interviewed Kelley Kenney, a black woman from Pennsylvania. She was quoted saying that
the older black folks in her community didn t want people to forget where they came from. Students at
the University of South Florida had a similar belief. They believed that the reason why interracial
relationships were such a problem was because the

Sample Of Apology Report
Thank you for replying and I apologize in advance for the lengthy and wordy message and talking
about myself here and there. I tried to give as much details as possible. Some things can no longer be
proven because to my knowledge Fran stopped doing them when Paul and Mark Rodocker started to
visit the building frequently. I placed stars at the beginning of the important paragraphs, which is the
main purpose of my email, where you most likely can find evidence to support my claims. And if you
gave Fran permission to do those things then I sincerely apologize and hope you disregard this
message. Background: I worked as Fran s assistant for over two years and the 8th was my last day
working for Apogee. I had put in my two weeks notice of resignation on the 1st but was forced to
leave on the 8th. I m being completely honest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I no longer wanted to be part of that toxic environment... please understand that I m in no way
criticizing your company or rules, I m talking about the unprofessional way Fran handles manners and
business sometimes. I like to believe that I have integrity; I care about doing the right thing and I don t
like when people take complete advantage of their high(er) status, but to keep my job I did what Fran
told me to and kept my mouth shut because essentially she was my boss. I had never worked with
someone with such superiority complex before so I didn t know what to do. I know she s a manager
but sometimes she d be out of control. If you remember the incident with the ticket the fire marshall
gave us. I wasn t aware that the maintenance crew kept dumpsters and their carts behind the fire exit
door, but Fran apparently knew for a long time. She never mentioned it to me. I understand you are
angry about the tickets and you have every right! and it could ve been completely

  • 2. The Female Characters In Lucy, By Jamaica Kincaid Lucy Josephine Potter and Mariah, are two of the main female characters in Jamaica Kincaid s novel, Lucy, which was published in 1990 (Sparknotes). Although the two women reside together in the first part of the story, it is as if they possess two different consciousness . Lucy Potter, a Caribbean teenager nineteen years of age, has come to the United States as an au pair. She is employed by Mariah to take care of her four daughters. Mariah is a middle class housewife who appears to have the ideal American family. Most likely the story takes place during the late 1960 s and 1970 s. During this period of time, there was a large influx of immigrants who arrived from the Caribbean, seeking employment and a more prosperous lifestyle. Much of story deals with their relationship of these two women and their interactions. Mariah often makes an effort to connect with Lucy, however their perspectives of life s events often contradict each other. Jamaica Kincaid s (born as Elaine Potter Richardson) stories have been described as autobiographical or memoir fiction. This is for the reason that, there often exists frequent similarities between her own life experiences and those of the protagonists in her stories. The same is true of the novel, Lucy. While reading Lucy, one wonders how many of the author s secrets are hidden within the narratives and events that take place. Kincaid and Lucy are both from the small island of Antigua. Their homeland is a post colonial society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Effects Of Environmental Diverty And Environmental... Explaining how global poverty and environmental decay are twin problems would be a lot less difficult to do if many other factors were not included in this issue. What mainly affects these problems is the fact that people in this day in age have a massive urge to want more in every aspect of life more money, more technology, more materialistic items what is not being taken into serious consideration is the fact that our wants outweigh our needs, and our Earth is the only thing that can not continue to grow with the growth of our wants. In such a fast developing country like our own, we fail to forget how our materialistic needs and the drive to always stay on top ultimately effects our physical Earth and the rest of the underdeveloped countries in the world. The primary concern is that a world of over six billion people striving materialistic satisfaction is drawing ever more heavily from finite supplies of natural resources to fuel an economic growth model destined to lead to an ecological disaster and global poverty without precedence (Harder and Harder 1). As Harder and Harder explain, we must find an economic way of life that is economically stable. There are many different perspectives that view economic growth in different aspects. Advocates of economic growth have a very optimistic viewpoint about the future of economic growth. Their operational logic reflects their sense of duty to develop latent resources into their actualized state for the benefit of a global ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This could impact the choices of many tremendously, if society would ever talk about abortion in a civilized manner even though it is very hard to discuss, many lives could be saved. A lot of people believe that more than half of abortions are because of teens. Whether they are too immature or they are not using contraceptives. Although sometimes that is true, although most abortions are not because of teen pregnancies. According to Jeff Jones, minors accounted for only about forty percent of abortions and these happened without their parents or guardians ever knowing. Point three percent of abortions in 2013 were by fifteen year olds and younger (Jones). While teens are a very small portion of abortions adults are the vast majority. Unmarried women in 2013 held responsible for 85.2% of all abortions (Jones). Which could argue that they are the ones being more irresponsible than minors. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean (Wilkinson 2011, 3). Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural drainage water (Wilkinson 2011, 3). Those forces include the rise and fall of tides, wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist of rocky ledges, boulders and pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be found. Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The zones vary in diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone (Little 2009, 17). • 10. Social Strain Theory And Rational Choice Theory In... Criminology is an interdisciplinary science that gathers and analyzes data on crime and criminal behavior. As I learned about criminology I learned that there are several theories that come along with it. The two theories in criminology that stood out the most to me were social strain theory and rational choice theory. These theories stood out to me because I felt like these were two that I can truly see how the people who developed them came about. Social strain theory was created by Robert Merton in the 1940s. Robert Merton is a very famous sociologist who accomplished a lot throughout his career. He spent a lot of his time studying at Colombia University. He also was the first sociologist that received a National Medal of Science Award. Merton came up with the strain theory as an explanation as to why crime rate was so high. Rational choice theory was created by Ronald Clarke and Derek Cornish. Ronald Clarke was a professor who severed as a dean at the School of Criminal Justice. He was there was longer than a decade. Clarke also had a very successful career. An important and most noted part of his career is him being given the highest award in criminology. The highest awards was the Stockholm Prize in Criminology. Clarke has also written several books and help developed several things in Britain s government. Cornish worked in the department of social science at London School of Economics. Rational choice theory was created to explain why and how every human who commits a crime is faced with a choice. Theory A Social Strain Theory is one of the many theories in criminology. According to our textbook, the definition of social strain theory better known as strain theory is that crime is generated from the acceptance of middle class values that emphasize financial success while certain segments of the population are restricted from attaining monetary success by legitimate means. Essentially this means that everybody does not have the same opportunities. It means that sometimes people do want to achieve more but it hard for them. There are various parts of Irish dance that have lasted throughout the years to remain an influence on the form known today. These basics have laid the foundation on which the dance has grown. Performed mainly during festivals, which date from the period of Eric the Red and the Viking raids of Ireland. While the Vikings did destroyed most books and written records, it was acknowledged that music and dance were important to the Gaelic culture. These festivals were a mixture of trade fair, political gathering, music, dance, sports, story telling and crafts. Today, the sole purposes of feiseanna are competitive dance competitions. There is still music, crafts, and trades, not as much. Officially there is no political aspect to the festivals anymore, many who participate would tell you otherwise. The reason that the traditional dance has remained apart of the world is because of the teachers and students. But in order to dance the students required movements, steps, and music to put them to. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the relationship between the muscular system and how it contributes to the overall health and balance of the body it is placed within. The essay will discuss the function of the muscular system, the organization of the system and how it contributes to homeostasis. The muscular system is the part of the body that assists with motor function and movement. There are three types of muscles in the human body that are included within this system. Smooth muscles are involuntary and are found inside organs such as the stomach and throat. Skeletal muscles are voluntary and are located everywhere throughout the body. The third type of muscles are cardiac muscles that are involuntary and keep your heart beating. While most people associate muscles with strength, they do more than assist in lifting heavy objects. The 650 muscles in the body not only support movement controlling walking, talking, sitting, standing, eating and other daily functions that we consciously perform. He became fluent in the native language Nahuatl and gained the inhabitants trust with his understanding nature and respect for their culture. He used his experiences and access to first hand knowledge to write three books, The Ancient Calendar, The History of the Indies of New Spain, and The Book of Gods and Rites, collectively known as the Durán Codex. Durán was an advocate for the Aztecs living in New Spain, but he was still a Catholic priest who saw everything he did through the lense of potential conversion. During his extensive study of the local culture he came to see the parallels between his faith and indigenous religion as evidence of Abrahamic religion having been brought to the New World and corrupted by the Devil. The only way, according to Durán, to truly root out the satanic practices of the Mesoamerican religions was to understand them. Utilising a wide range of sources critically evaluate and discuss the following statement: Dangerousness is said to be socially constructed. Dangerousness is a term that is used in various settings such as legal, academic, administrative and popular discourse (Bennett, n.d:3.). The meaning of the term can vary throughout the different settings (ibid). In criminology the term often corresponds with acts of violence, and is used to label an offenders potential level of risk of harm they may cause (Farrington and Tarling, 1985:175). Someone who is labelled as dangerous is thought to pose as a threat or risk to society. However, dangerousness is not easily defined; it can actually cover a range of factors; which makes it more of an umbrella term. For example, three distinct constructs such as risk factors, potential harm, and risk level are used to determine dangerousness (Greene and Wrightsman, 2007:263). Nevertheless, even though the term lacks a clear and concise definition, it is used on a daily basis to make very important decisions regarding offenders who have been previously convicted of a specified offence such as, a violent offence, or a sexual offence (Legislation.gov.uk, 2003). Society is becoming increasingly obsessed with danger or risks to health and safety, and anxiety and fear are becoming a more dominated feature in everyday life (Furedi, 2007:198). • 25. Essay On College Sports When it comes to the topic of college athletics, most of us will readily agree that college sports are a great opportunity to go to college for someone who otherwise would not be able to attend. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether colleges need to focus more on learning over athletics. Whereas some are convinced that sports can lower academic standards for admission just to play a sport, others maintain that college sports bring in lots of extra revenue and help students get a quality education at a price they can afford to pay. While sports can increase revenue and attention, colleges are made to further students education and prepare them for the career path they have chosen. Universities nowadays are almost built completely around sports. Athletics haul in billions of dollars annually for universities and draw in crowds of over 100,000 people for only a single game. When student athletes get enrolled in more basic, easy classes and make good grades, it makes it look as if they are putting as much work as the more accomplished students. Scholarships offered by these schools can also put non athletes at a disadvantage due to the athlete receiving special benefits that a plain student with the same grades would not otherwise receive. If this happens, it shows that colleges truly do prioritize athletics over academics. Though college sports are extremely enjoyable and profitable for universities, education should be prioritized over athletic participation and there should not be any lowered standards for student athletes. The main focus of college is to make it to one s career, not to make it to a professional sports league. Fate is the driving force of Othello, This is shown through the ease of deception by Iago, the various religious influences spread throughout. as well as the meta analysis present in most of shakespeare s plays. Deception is used throughout the play by Iago, however it is not the driving force as said by Alyssa Brown. Othello has the fairly typical theme of deception. Self deception is also a theme (Alyssa Brown, Brown/A/Deception). Deception does not exist in the play. The characters have no freewill and cannot be deceived. This play uses deception wrong according to Shakespeare. Usually, Shakespeare uses deception to a positive end of the players. When used in tragedies, Romeo and Juliet use deception to further their love, although it does ultimately end with their deaths, it ends with the Montague and Capulet families coming together. Germany and the Nazi regime had an expansive outline for the execution of their goals. A predominant force in their agenda was the notion of Judenpolitik, or how they would approach the treatment of European Jewry. The Nazis had drawn up plans for the island of Madagascar to house Europe s Jews, however, given the constraints of mass populations management, the Nazis settled for Ghettos as a provisional measure.
