2. The Digestive System Of A Simple Meal Of Baked Potato And...
This essay is going to examine the human digestive system from beginning to end and discuss
the digestive process of a simple meal of baked potato and cheddar cheese including the food
groups it is made up of, how the body breaks the food down and how it is absorbed and
subsequently assimilated. This will be achieved by analysing a range of scientific sources in order
to gain full understanding of the human body and the way the digestive system works.
The digestive system is also known as the alimentary canal and is a vast system that is
approximately ten meters long. The process of digestion can simply be described as the breaking

There is also intracellular digestion and extracellular digestion. Intracellular digestion is the
breaking down of the interior of large molecule cells ingested or even from its own cell
metabolism into smaller molecules. Products of intracellular digestion are then used by the cell or
excreted. Extracellular digestion is when food breaks down into utile molecules that are then
internalised by cells. This is done in the extracellular space where cells secrete substances that
break large molecules into smaller molecules in the external environment, later the cell can benefit
from the products of digestion. For the purpose of discussing the digestion of a baked potato and
cheddar cheese, intracellular and extracellular digestion is not relevant. (biology questions answers,

A baked potato and cheddar cheese can be broken down into many food groups that are essential to
the human body. Potatoes, when baked in their skins provide a range of nutrients including

I was at the point of suffocation. The massive rubber soles overpowered my own feet, the
heavily insulated vest pressed my sides together, and I could have sworn it clenched me tighter
and tighter by the second. The mask compressed against my face, concealing my eyes and nose
from the air I desperately longed for. It forced me to breathe out of a compact tube, exposing the
claustrophobia I did not know I had. But before I even had time to think, I went plunging under.
The tepid salt water instantly enveloped me, and within seconds I floated back to the top. I was
mystified by what may be lurking beneath my legs, which were plowing back and forth to keep
me up straight. I immediately began to disregard the heavy gear I modeled so gauchely,... Show

7. Woodrow Wilson Revolution And Peace Sparknotes
In his book, Woodrow Wilson Revolution, War, and Peace by Arthur Link, Link walks step by
step through President Woodrow Wilson s career beginning from the time he was born and
focuses on his role during and after World War I. Through his entire book, Link acts as an
apologist for the actions of Wilson as well as argues against the opinions of other historians. Link
speaks about Wilson almost as if he idolizes him; as if despite what other historians and public
opinion might say that he can do no wrong. Link starts his book by giving details on Wilson s life

Link explained that Wilson believed he was chosen by god to protect and preserve democracy.
Wilson fought tooth and nail to keep America out of the war and remain completely neutral,
however due to unavoidable foreign aggression and loss of American life and economic despair,
Wilson declared war in April 1917. Throughout the entire war Wilson campaigned for Peace
without Victory and self determination amongst the belligerent countries. As the war progressed it
seems less and less likely that Wilson would get his wishes until finally in November 1918 World
War I came to a halt. As peace negotiations began Wilson still had high hopes that the Allies and
Germany could still work things out peacefully. Unfortunately things didn t run as smoothly as
planned. Wilson ended up sacrificing many principals for overall peace. Though international issues
were eventually settled there was much criticism towards Wilson during and after the negations
were settled. There are many reasons that World War I happened. Wilson was unfortunately caught
in the middle of international conflict despite desperately attempting to stay out of the war.
According to link, Wilson believed that the cause of World War I was due to a plethora of events
including growing militarism, the growing nationalism in the Austro Hungarian Empire, Russia s

9. The Influence Of The Pointe Shoes In The Romantic Era
Whether we look at a romantic ballet like La Sylphide or a classical ballet such as Sleeping
Beauty, audiences are constantly mesmerized by the gracefulness and weightlessness of the
ballet dancers. They seem to defy the laws of physics, which is greatly possible due to the use of
the pointe shoe. However, many masterworks that were created in the Romantic era did not
solely rely on the pointe shoe to help convey messages. Instead, the choreography, dancers,
scenic elements, subject matter, and music all helped shaped masterworks such as La Sylphide,
Napoli, and Giselle. Similarly, in the Classical era, these elements all played a role in shaping
famous ballets like La Bayadere, Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake. But once we take a closer look
at these ballets from the Classical era, we can see how much balletevolved. Nevertheless, it is
important to note that the Romantic era was the stepping stone for this pure art form that we have
been able to preserve for more than 160 years.
In the early 19th century, during the Industrial Revolution, the Romantic era in ballet came alive
throughout Western Europe. In dance, it is known that the Romantic era came first, not the
Classical era. During this time, pointe shoes, with a barely enforced box, made an appearance,
allowing dancers to briefly be lifted onto pointe, conveying a look of airiness. Also, emphasis was
placed on feelings and emotions rather than reason and intellect, and most story ballets during this
time were

10. Theme Of Narration In Sons And Lovers
Narration and point of view play a large role in the acceptance of a story. When the author writes
the novel in first person, it gives the reader an immediate connection to the protagonist. A third
person narration is more believable. The reader is being told a story without any personal bias from
the characters. With first personnarration, the character breaks down the scenes and the reader gets
a direct sense of the events. Third person narration allows the reader to get to know multiple
characters. Point of view when used with third person narration has a powerful effect. It helps to
reader to understand background on different characters and to have knowledge of events that may
not be the main focus of the story.

It bounces most between Mrs. Morel and her son Paul. The narration was third person because
there was death amongst the characters. If it was first person we would lose some aspects of the
story as well as only have access to one characters opinion. Sons and Lovers was set in
Noddingham, England during the late 1800s.
The events of this story lead to the demise of its characters. Mr. Morel s alcoholism gets between
him and his wife early on in their relationship. Walter Morel cannot stand his wife accusing him of
being a drunk. One night he felt that she has crossed the line. They were arguing until he physically
threw her out of the house. Gertrude is pregnant but this does not faze Walter. His children do not
matter to him and neither does his wife.
As the story progresses, Gertrude hates Walter more and more. She turns away from her husband
and infatuates herself with her children. She once admired her husband but this admiration turns
to loathing and disgust. A little while down the line, Walter comes home drunk again. Gertrude
had given birth to the baby at this point. He drops a kitchen drawer against his shin. In a drunken
rage, he throws the drawer across the kitchen where it hits Gertrude in the head. She starts
bleeding and this sobers Walter up a little. She refuses his help and tells him to get away from her.

Music has been a part of the human race for as long as it has been existing. Its various forms and
genres categorizes and divides the music country wise, ranging from initially Folk music as the
base, moving on to Country music as a regions identity. The music gained enormous name and
fame because of its hypnotizing effect on the singer and the listener. From Rock n Roll, evolving
towards British invasion, music in 1960 s played a major role in evolution of UK.This evolution
was brought up by the introduction of rock and roll, collaborating different races and changing the
lifestyle thus transforming UK from a conservative country into the capital of the world.
Before rock and roll hit the Great Britain, blues and jazz were the genres of the era. Singers from
various nations like the US or Africa, started working solo or as bands and increased the impact
of music on people slive. Before the 50 s, various controversies arose regarding the style of Jazz

with the arrival of The Beatles on the music scene and the type of rabid fandom that followed them
would change the way people would view and interact with me and musicians forever. (The People

14. Summary Of Hispanics And The American Dream
In Linda Chavez s, Hispanics and the American Dream she starts by showing the growth of
Hispanics in America and how they are depicted. She sees them as a valuable part of society that
is steadily climbing to new heights on the socioeconomic ladder, yet the population perceives them
to be the lower end and will likely remain that way. She goes on to prove this assumption by the
way Hispanics are shown in the media, which states that poor and Hispanicgoes hand in hand when
thought of. What is failed to be seen is that most Hispanics are steadily in the middle class, but
this varies within the group just as it does with all races. The analysts take into consideration the
immigrants who have just entered America, legal or illegal, which in turn causes the balance to
shift towards the poor side of the spectrum. Our overall perception of Hispanics plays a role in
their place in society. Linda illustrates how the way we view Hispanics is what holds them back
from fully growing in our society. This is mainly done through discrimination that withholds them
from attaining jobs or opportunities that halts their overall progression up the ladder. The U.S.
census and many other federal agencies confirms that the Hispanic race, much like any other race,
works had to make a decent living and support their families. This depicts Hispanics as a race that
shares a common norm of all others, yet is still treated as if they are the bottom rung of society.

20. Overview of Market Research Online Communities
Background The company, Communispace, offers a very unique process for using the data
generated by marketing research. By building brand focused online communities, data can be
collected that offers a unique and more personalized view into the minds of the customer of a
brand. Members of this community can communicate with each other, even to the point of
generating focus groups that exist to discuss the product. Over time, this community evolves and
produces viable information for companies based on additional details that impact the brand in
question. The only way the company works can grow and prosper is if the data service provided is
pristine and unique for that client. The two major values for the service are: 1) since the
communities exist, within 24 hours there is useful data, and 2) a truer, more gut level response is
available that traditional market research does not provide. Of course, the competitive landscape for
market research is vast. The industry as a whole generates about $10 billion/annum and about 40%
of that revenue is segmented to the top five firms. Beyond that, the industry is quite fragmented
with literally thousands of companies. Communispace ranks about 29th in the industry and was the

necessitating additional avenues for its social networking expertise (Honomichl, 2009). Overview

discriminated under the law. This Equal Protection clause does not require identical treatment in all
circumstances. Equal protection of the laws, like due process, is a constitutional guarantee of fair
treatment for all persons, regardless of sex, race, national origin, religion, or political views. It is
rooted in the truth expressed in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal.
Many African Americans believe they were not protected under the Equal Protection clause,

When you want to breathe as bad as you want to succeed then you ll be successful. Eric Thomas.
So many people around the world wonder if this quote is valid or invalid. This quote is indeed
valid when it comes to having the qualities of becoming successful. The exactly first thing many
people think after failing at something they love is,is it even worth fighting for anymore. Should
they give up or try harder next time. Unfortunately for Eric Thomas dropped out of High school
at the age of sixteen and when he was eighteen he he met a pastor, who inspired him to go
complete his GED exams and go to college. He began to inspire people later on in his life because

Every four years in the United States, presidential candidates run for control over the U.S. There
are many steps in the process that they have to take, such as beating their fellow competitors;
which can create a struggle. In the play The Tempest the characters have the same type of
struggle. In the beginning of the play there is a huge storm, created by a magician as an act of
revenge. The storm is directed towards people on a ship who have done him wrong, or will do
him wrong throughout the play. Many of the characters try to overthrow the magician, also
known as Prospero. Each of the characters come up with a plan to gain some type of power over
him, or others; this eventually gets into Proespero s head, when he uses magic to play tricks on
them. In the end, he realizes where he was wrong for his actions, and forgives them for their wrong
doings also. In William Shakespeares play, he uses conflict to demonstrate a theme of struggle for

24. Anne Sexton Her Kind
Throughout the Earth s vast history, women who have defied or who have simply not adhered to
society s standards have been literally and metaphorically burned at the stake. These kinds of
women have been ostracized, demonized, and called all kinds of names simply for not fitting a
uniform criterion. This exclusion of femaleoutcasts is what Anne Sexton focuses on in her poem
Her Kind. In it, she elaborates on the idea that society naturally shuns and persecutes all women that
are deemed undesirable or nonconforming. Put simply, in Anne Sexton s Her Kind, imagery,
repetition, and syntax reveal the author s theme on societal views regarding female identity.
First, imagery in Her Kind paints the speaker as a kind of unearthly, inhuman creature, ... Show

In the first stanza, commas are overwhelmingly present and cause silences to appear throughout
this whole stanza; for example, in line five, Sexton writes the following comma ridden line:
lonely thing, twelve fingered, out of mind (5). Due to the slow way the poem reads, the narrator
seems bored and or saddened by her isolation. Next, in the second stanza, though commas are
much more present, these serve their purpose in lists, and arguably speed up the poem; this is
most notably seen in lines 9 and 10 where Sexton writes the following: filled them with skillets,
carvings, shelves, / closets, silks, innumerable goods. This shows the narrator s building
cheerfulness and confidence in being herself. Finally, the syntax in the last stanza is that of
complete sentences, and serves to show the narrator s final resolve to be self assured in her
abnormality, revealed by the poem s last two lines: A woman like that is not ashamed to die. / I
have been her kind (20 21). Since the poem ends ironically with the narrator s death being the
moment she feels the most confident about herself, readers can only assume that this is Sexton s
sardonic way of saying that self confident, nonconforming women are comparable to martyrs for
their cause. Taking everything into account, Sexton s use of syntax provides a

25. Rhetorical Pathos In Never Cry Wolf By Farley Mowat
What do you think of wolves? Do you think they re blood thirsty killers, or do you think they are
rather friendly animals? In the book, Never Cry Wolf, (1963) the author, Farley Mowat, writes
about his excursion to the sub arctic Barren Lands of Canada to study how wolves act and how
the community is being affected by the wolves. The people of Churchill lead Mowat to believe
the wolves are something that they aren t, which is a blood thirsty killer. Mowat then uses the
rhetorical strategy Pathos throughout the book to show you how he personifies the wolves and
how fear is all in our minds. Pathos represents an appeal to the emotions of the audience. Mowat
uses this rhetorical strategy to get us to feel the emotions that he felt. When arriving in
Churchill, Mowat says that he discovered that although wolves reputedly devour several people
in the Arctic Zone every year, they will always refrain from attacking a pregnant eskimo (24). In
Chapter 4 When is a Wolf Not a Wolf?, Mowat shares his fear. He hears howling in the distance
and quickly hides saying I found myself wishing I were a pregnant eskimo (42). Although this is
funny, it made me feel fear for Mowat because of Churchill s rumors that you would be eaten. It
turns out the howling was just huskies which led Mowat to the realization that maybe everything
that the people said isn t true. A couple chapters later in Chapter 7 The Watcher Watched, Mowat
learned that maybe wolves aren t savage killers and maybe just the opposite of that. This lesson
was learned when Mowat was out searching for the wolves and they were behind him the whole
time. A struck of shock lit Mowat up when he realized that the wolves had any chance to attack him
and they didn t, instead they sat quietly and observed Mowat. This sent fear through me because it
led Mowat to new ideas which means he s going to put more trust into the wolves and go right into
it with an open mind. From Chapter 7 on, the whole perspective changes. Personification is the
attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman, or the
representation of an abstract quality in human form. To get you attached to the wolves, Mowat
personifies them. This mostly starts in Chapter 9

What is a recession? A recession is declared once the GDP is negative for two consecutive

defined as gross domestic product and that basically means the total value of goods the United
States has produced, for the year. The first few signs of a recessionare negative growth followed by
a miniature positive growth. Because American citizens don t have the money to spend they don t

inflate, causing the value of money to go down prices to go up and so on and so forth.
One of the hardest and most difficult economic recessions in history was accomplished using
Keynesian economics by John Fredrick Kennedy. Keynesian economics is a theory of total
spending in the economy (called aggregate demand) and its effects on output and inflation.
Although the term has been used (and abused) to describe many things over the years there is six
principal systems or beliefs that are what a Keynesian believes. (20) A Keynesian believes that
total demand is inclined by a swarm of financial decisions public and private. The public decisions
include, financial and economic policies. Nearly all Keynesians and monetarists believe that both
financial and economic policies affect total demand. Secondly changes in total demand have their
affect on output and on employment not on prices. Keynesians believe that it must get worse for it
to get better. Also they believe that we live in the short run of things not in the long run. Keynes s

both artists revisit the past, returning to the land of their heritage. A sense of belonging is one of
the key issues they face as Australian artists. Temin understands the importance of objects as a
means of remembering another culture, a sense of displacement and loss, whilst Tillers senses a

41. Serbian Nationalism And Identity Of A Nation State s...
Perhaps one of the biggest points of contention in Serbia is nationalism and identity. Serbian
nationalism is especially unique due to its particular ethnic implications. It can be traced back to
the rise of nationalism in the Balkans during Ottoman rule. Serbia has existed between various
empires and nation states. Many Serbians voice the need for self autonomy, often citing being ruled
by outsiders for hundreds of years. Today Serbiaseen by its people as an unfinished state. Thus, the
need for creating autonomous identity is especially relevant.1 Ristic in her essay on Serbian
identity, that the formation of a nation state s identity is crucial to its wellbeing. In general, identity
is built upon three essential interdependent elements: 1. birth, which creates ties to family, nation
and to a concrete geographical space; 2. culture, which forms individuals and groups spiritually and
emotionally; 3. acceptance of common values which help creating communities of values. Hence
identity can be determined on the basis of the following categories: place of living (town or district
of town, country, continent etc), religion, family, profession, nation, age class, ideology etc.2
The problem with Serbian national identity is that there is not enough security in the
aforementioned criterion historically. Ristic states that defining national identity upon values and
ideology leads in Serbia to two relatively opposite understandings of national identity and the values

rhetorical analysis is a change in reality. Therefore, he is saying that it is an action or new
information that is to be addressed or known. He states that rhetorical analysis should be followed
by a rhetorical method. Blitzer mentioned that there are three main components when writing a
rhetorical analysis. One component to look for is referred to as exigence. Exigence is the reason
you are proving something. Audience is the part of a rhetorical analysis that involves people that
you are trying to get to understand your situation. Lloyd stated that everyone is being capable by
the change of speech. From my perspective, Blitzer s rhetorical audience consists only of people
who are more likely influenced by discourse and have the possibility of becoming mediators of
change. The final component is constraint. Constraint deals with limitation and restrictions in a
rhetorical analysis. Charleston Hope provides a great opportunity to become involved and assist with
