Collapse Of Hawaii Essay
HONOLULU, Hawaii A giant stream of molten hot lava is shooting out of a sea cliff on Hawaii
Island. The lava is pouring into the Pacific Ocean. It is exploding as soon as it hits the water.
Molten lava is rock that is so hot is has become liquid. It can erupt out of the mouth of volcanos. It can
also pour out of natural tunnels known as lava tubes.
The huge new lava flow originates from within the Kilauea volcano. It is gushing from a lava tube
exiting on the southeast side of the Big Island.
The tube was exposed when a huge lava delta broke off and fell into the ocean on New Year s Eve. A
lava delta is new land formed when lava cools and becomes solid. The collapse of this delta triggered
huge explosions and giant waves.

We re always watching for what the cliff is doing. Is it moving? Are the rocks rolling down the cliff?
Turpin said the latest flow is the biggest firehose event he has ever seen. Turpin has been viewing such
events for 30 years.
Park Service Has Restricted Areas For Viewing
On land, the National Park Service is responsible for the safety of visitors along the shore. It has
restricted the areas that people can enter to view the flow. However, Turpin said he frequently sees
people on the cliff edge where they shouldn t be.
The cliff edge is part of a large lava bench. Lava benches are ledges of land formed from cooling lava.
They sit on top of the original shoreline and can break off at any time without warning.
If people were on the edge as it broke off, they would likely lose their lives, Cindy Orlando said.
Orlando is the superintendent of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Areas along the cliff are now roped off and danger signs have been posted. Even so, people are still
going to parts of the cliff edge near the lava flow, Orlando said.
Park rangers have fined people who cross into off limits areas. However, it is nearly impossible to
prevent everyone from breaking the rules, Orlando

Egypt And Mesopotamia Dbq Essay
Egypt and Mesopotamia were successful civilizations because they were able to adapt to their harsh
surroundings because of the influence of their powerful leaders. This is first example of this when it
mentions that their only building tool was mudbrick due to their lack of resources(document 1). They
were able to brilliantly adapt to their surroundings and were able to invent things like the arch and the
dome out of hardened mud. Mud brick was also used to create the ziggurat(document 7). Mud brick
was their only resource because they were so isolated from everything else. They also could really
only inhabit the euphrates river because the Tigris river would flood a lot, so that s why all of the cities
are on the Euphrates (document 2).

The Chu Lai Massacre
Attacks stretched as far as the northern U.S. military installation, Chu Lai, down to the primary
objective in the south, Saigon. The launch of such an intricate and fierce attack caught many U.S.
commanders off guard because at the time, the potential of the Northern fighters was severely
underestimated. In the years before, Saigon acted as a safe haven for many refugees trying to escape
the horrors of war. The comfort of the city soon vanished when the North Vietnamese sent 35
battalions to seize six objectives in the capital. A few of these enemy fighters took over a government
radio station with the intention of spreading pro communist propaganda. The North Vietnamese
believed that if they could control the transmitting tower, they could convince the citizens of the South
to riot against the U.S. forces. Fortunately for the U.S. troops, this plan was stopped by a Lieutenant of
the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) who previously decided to cut all transmission to and
from the government radio tower. As the Viet Cong were waiting for reinforcements, ARVN troops ...

quite tell who had the upper hand. The confusion left many reporters with the assumption that the
enemy had taken over the embassy, even though it was an obvious win for American forces. It wasn t
long until a picture of three U.S. soldiers fighting for their life alongside two of their dead brothers

Whitewashing, By T. E. Lawrence Of Arabia
T.E. Lawrence was a Welsh born British Army officer and a major player in the Arab Revolt during
World War I. Film director David Lean s 1962 epic historical drama, Lawrence of Arabia, tells his
story, particularly his attacks on Aqaba and Damascus, and his involvement in the Arab National
Council, which created new states in the region and established present day the Middle East. The
movie, as compelling and historically and culturally significant as it is, however, can be criticized for
its character depictions, including that of Lawrence and the whitewashing of others, the muddling of
geography and chronology for dramatic effect, and providing little background information about the
political landscape, both outside and inside the Middle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the time he reached Hejaz, there were still numerous soldiers with him, including one Cyril

Coal Mining
Coal mining is not only a dangerous job, but also life threatening and deadly. Many accidents have
happened over the years and coal mining is less popular than it was when it first started. Even though
today fifty percent of our electricity is powered by coal. There are four different types of coalmines,
each very different. The first type are drift or slope mines, they are driven into valley walls near seams
of coal. The second types of mines are shaft mines, these types of mines use pumps to remove water.
Boreholes are drilled to relieve water pressure for safer mining. The third types of mines are surface
mines. Surface mines use draglines, which can remove up to 200ft of coal in a single pass. A dragline

The United States on average mines about 950 million tons of coal each year. The coal mine with the
most production is the Thunder Basin Coal CO. The Black Thunder mine is in Wyoming, which in
1994 produced 31,651,762 tons of coal. The average weekly pay for a coal miner is $903.76 and about
$39,067.60 per year. You can surface mine on both mountains and plains. Coal is a fossil fuel, because
it was formed from the remains of vegetation that grew as long as 400 million years ago. A fossil fuel
is a naturally occurring fuel of organic nature, such as coal, crude oil and natural gases. It is often
referred to as buried sunshine because the plants which formed coal captured energy from the sun
through photosynthesis to create the compounds that makes up plant tissue. Photosynthesis is the
process by which green plants convert light to energy by transforming carbon dioxide and water into
carbon hydrates. There are about 267 billion tons or, thirteen percent, of known American reserves in
the United States. The most important element in the plant material is carbon, which gives coal most
of its energy. Most of the coal today was formed about 300 million years ago, when steamy swamps
covered most of the earth. As plants and trees died, their remains sank to the bottom of the swampy
areas, accumulating layer upon layer and eventually forming a soggy dense material called peat. Peat

donor is not in the best interest of them medically. Although some say a day of minor discomfort and
minimal risk of anesthesia outweighs a lifetime without a healthy brother or sister (Pentz). Also the
donor child could take pride in the fact that they saved their siblings life if all goes well. Who makes
the call to say it is okay or worth the risk to allow a minor child to become a donor? Do the parents
make the decisions, the sick child, the donor child, or the healthcare professionals? What if the sick
child refuses? Even if that sick child is a minor they may refuse treatment. It is not a question of age, it
is a question of competence. Competence is the ability to understand the nature of the proposed
procedure and its possible consequences. If a child is competent, no matter the age, they have a legal
and ethical right to refuse treatment. The competence of an individual should be determined by the
clinician who is doing the purposed treatment. However, when children refuse treatment their parents
may consent on their behave (Cornock). This is if the child does not have medical emancipation.

Km and 5,000 sq. Km allocated 6 Kits · Wards with above 5,000 sq. Km allocated 8 Kits. Since Wards
are different in sizes, even within counties, the analysis of distribution at the county level or regional
level will not provide a representation of a fair conclusion on the spread. For instance, Kilifi County
has 35 Wards of varying sizes but threeWards (Ganze 5,427 sq. km; Bamba 1,532.70; Marafa and
686.90 sq. km.) account for 62% of the entire area of Kilifi County. This means that the three Wards
will get between 6 8 kits and yet the majority of the remaining Wards will receive four kits each. In
the case of Bomet County, the total number of Wards falling within the second category of 31 500 sq.
km is 25. This entitles Bomet to a total of 100 kits using the formula. The concerns that the population
of the unregistered issued with IDs is low and therefore Bomet does not deserve the number of kits is
clearly misleading. Because issuance of IDs is dynamic and the baseline might change at any given
time depending on government policy, the Commission decided it was prudent to use a more static
variable that infuses equity across the country... read the statement by IEBC in

The Consequences Of Being A Disaster
So let s be honest with ourselves for minutes here. The chances of this film being a disaster were high
from the jump, I talked a bit about this in an editorial I wrote this last week. Where to begin? You have
a film here that was reshot at least twice for multiple reasons. First, you have a studio in Warner Bros
that is absolutely scared to death of bad reviews for this film given out bad Man of Steel, Batman vs
Superman, and Suicide Squad were received by mainstream critics. Secondly, you had an entire cut of
the film that was scrapped because executives hated Zack Snyder s original vision. Then Zack Snyder
s daughter tragically dies and he leaves the project for Joss Whedon to take off and order even more
reshoots of the film. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you notice any differences in tone and have to remember that this film basically had two directors.
So it s hard to tell who is at fault for when something goes wrong and who to praise when something
goes right. From what I can tell much of Zack s premise was kept in place. If you go back and watch
the first trailer before the reshoots can see the tone was serious and straightforward. But this was a big
problem for WB executives as they forced reshoots to add more humor and color to the film and
Synder s original vision had been done away with. As far as villain goes, Steppenwolf is as generic as
they come. Marvel is notorious for weak villains but here the plot is more menacing than the bad guy
and he doesn t come off as a real threat in the film especially when Superman shows up (spoiler alert).
I also found Flash s comedic relief to be tiring after a point as well but to his credit, he and Superman
have arguably the best moment of the film.
So what did work in Justice League? DC is finally finding the balance in making a superhero movie
fun and keeping the tone in balance. We have seen DC movies take itself too seriously while Marvel
films are obnoxiously funny. Justice League balances itself in the limited time they have. The
introductions of Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg does indeed give you enough of what you need to know
about the characters without throwing the entire story out of whack. This still allows Gal Gadot to be a

The Purpose Of Improve Airport Security
The purpose of Airport Security is to make sure that people at an airport or an airline gets to their

Airport security has been an issue ever since terrorist hijacked three planes in the U.S. airlines on
September 11, 2001. Airport Security has gradually improved but ever since the terrorist attack in
America on September 11 it showed the people that Airport Security must improve drastically in order
for casualties from an attack like this must never happen again. This issue impacts all of the Airlines in
the country due to the fact that if an attack like 9/11 happened to the American Airlines than it can to
any country in the world. Many countries try to improve their airport security based off of how
effective other airlines in different countries security protocols are. The United States security airline

White Privilege And White Skin Privilege
2
Privilege refers to the unearned advantages enjoyed by a particular group simply because of
membership in that group. Privileges accrue to those who (consciously or not) oppress others and are
generally invisible to those who enjoy them (Swigonski, M.E. 1996). Having that in mind my position
on white privilege (or white skin privilege) which can also be called the huge pink elephant in the
room. Society (especially now) believe that America have advanced past racism when in all actuality
we still have a long way to go. People in our society can go through life without knowing about white
privilege or realizing they themselves, may have this privilege. The white or lighter skin color of a
person has automatic benefits, right from birth, them not ever having to do anything to attain this
privilege. The consequences are mostly good and outweigh the bad, for the ones that have white
privilege. However, skin that is not white has far more injustices, they are oppressed and they are the
ones that suffer, not having this same privilege (King, M.T. 2009). I do believe the only difference
between racism and 2016 as compared to 1960 is the law civil laws enacted caused white Americans
to construct more subtle ways of displaying racist behaviours. In doing this assignment not only did I

America, despite its British origins. Conceived as a peace treaty to alleviate political unrest in 1215,

Analysis Of My Son The Man By Sharon Olds
Accepting Independence
Poetry is like a song without music, it has the ability to awaken your emotions and the ability to tell
stories that can paint beautiful, relatable, imagery in the viewer s mind. Upon reading the poem, My
Son the Man by Sharon Olds, she presents a unique view on her bittersweet experience of watching
her son gravitate towards manhood, Suddenly his shoulders get a lot wider (line1), while realizing he
is astute enough to escape his mother s strong hold, to learn the way out (line 16). As a mother myself,
I began to recognize how I can relate to the speaker s challenges of understanding a child s need to test
limits and break free from dependency. I realized through the speaker s obvious allusions to Houdini
expressing the need to break free, the contrast used to convey the indirect references to Houdini, and
the similes used to express emotion toward reflecting back on a time of innocence, accepting the need
of a maturing child s independence proves the strength of a mother s love.
My Son the Man begins by comparing her maturing son with the allusion to Houdini, Suddenly his
shoulders get a lot wider, /the way Houdini would expand his body/while people were putting him in
chairs (1 3), similar to Houdini preparing for his next challenge involving an almost impossible trick.
Therefore, lines 1 3 is used to express the shock of a child s rapid growth while learning to overcome
the manacles of growing up, similar to the physical manacles

In the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, written by Zora Neale Hurston, the use of symbols helps
the reader understand Janie. At the earliest moments in the book, symbols are used to describe how
Janie feels and what her emotions are like without addressing them. From the time she experiences
what love feels like, Janie tries to find it throughout the books. The pear tree is used throughout the
novel, from the time of Janie s time as a teenager till the end of her relationship with Tea Cake. It has
numerous appearances that at the end connect and help the reader understand Janie s venture to find
love. Hurston uses the pear tree to show the development of Janie s fantasy of love and her search for

The Foreclosure Of The Last Couple Years
Foreclosure in the last couple years has become a well known word to a lot of young people, and has
become more frequent in the last couple of years. My family has gone through the process and it was a
very emotional time for us all. The only home my family was able to get into was one that could be
rented with the option to buy. Having more homes in the market that have that option makes it not
only more convenient, but more affordable for families like mine who have gone through foreclosure.
Giving possible tenants the option to rent towards owing is a great way to get the housing market back
on track. People who are struggling financially cannot afford to just buy a home. Allowing people the
option to rent towards buying, takes some of the stress off the tenants and allows longer time to come
up with the money, which means less people getting evicted or foreclosed on. The less people that are
foreclosed on, the better the market for homes will be. Currently the market is great for anyone who is
financially stable to purchase any home that has a foreclosure sign out front. If the option rent to own
was made more available the people looking for homes, then it would allow them to save more money
until they were financially stable to either buy the home, or move to another affordable location. The
owners who do offer the rent to own option are not only allowing the tenants time to come to a more
stable financial state, but are making money themselves. If the

Divine Command And Natural Law Theory
Growing up in a Christian household I have always felt that my own ethical code was largely shaped
by the rules and laws that are stated in the bible. Although I don t agree with some interpretations of
these rules and laws, as I ve grown up I have developed my own code stemming deeply from my
religion. For this reason, I believe that divine command/natural law theory are the closest related
ethical systems to my own ethical code even though there are many flaws that come with them.
Divine command is an ethical system that derives heavily from a religious background. This system
believes that since God is the creator and ruler of all, he is the one who decides the ethical and moral
principles. It can be simply put as morally right means commanded by God and morally wrong means
forbidden by God (Rachel, 2002). Because of this, moral correctness can only be found through
religion. Since many of the rules and laws that come from divine command are so adamantly set into
place, there are many flaws that can come from them.
One major flaw that develops from divine command is one of reason. In the classical sense of divine
command all laws come straight from God. With these laws there are no questions asked to if they are
truly right or wrong. With this said there are many different situations that can come to mind. One
example can be in the form of a question. What would happen if God commanded that murder was
considered morally right? With reasoning skills, we can see

Aristotle s Four Causes
The theory of the Four Causes refers to an influential Aristotelian principle whereby the causes of
movement and/or change are categorized allowing us to have knowledge of our existence and
everything around us. Aristotle wrote that we do not have knowledge of a thing until we have grasped
its why , that is to say, its cause. He provided an account of the operation of various individual
substances in the universe. Distinctions were made between things of two sorts: those that are
contingent on something else s movement and those that necessary in their own movement. Aristotle
not only suggested a proper description of these but also attempted to answer particular questions such
as Why does this event happen? and Why is this object as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Final Cause causes movement and gives purpose to everything in the universe. It could be argued
that the final cause given by the Prime Mover is for everything to simply change. However, Aristotle
describes the prime mover as God, implying that it obtaining goodness is our purpose. Therefore, it is
God that attracts everything to himself while remaining unaffected. Aristotle supposed God s
existence to be necessary, inferring that God does not depend on anything else for existence. He lacks
the potential and therefore does not change, exists outside our temporal reality, making him eternal.
Aristotle stated that eternal beings are essentially good; there can be no imperfection in something that
existing necessarily. Evil originates from a lack of, something which should exist. This would have to
be the mere absence of actuality that Aristotle stated God

With the encouragement of European settlement, privileges and inequality appeared. As the pressure
grew, new nationalistic groups were created, and sometimes they would act as a terrorist organization,
just like the FLN group. Even though the problems were increasing in the French colony, there was
some collaboration that tried to maintain the peace in it. Some laws that were published enhanced the
political power of Algerians in their government, National Assembly in Paris. From the very
beginning of the existence of the French Algeria, it was hard to balance the satisfaction of the Pier

Ferhat Abbas, a future president of an independent Algerian parliament, writes in 1931: Algeria is

Analysis Of The Asian Crisis And The Asian Model
Both Robert Wade s and Charles Kindleberger s respective pieces, Wheels Within Wheels: Rethinking
the Asian Crisis and the Asian Model and Manias, Panics and Crashes: A History of Financial Crises ,

housing bubble collapsed and how this breakdown affected United States banking institutions. Firms
with a lack of capital income and low capital reserves could not pay off their debts when scared

He contends that when the East Asian companies opened up their markets to allow in foreign capital
and appease citizens who wanted globalization, they unintentionally doomed themselves for the future
(Wade 107). Before they opened up their markets, bankers in East Asian countries were very cautious
about whom to give loans to, and as a result, banks often had a very good relationship with those they
chose to lend money. As a result, loans were only given out to safe investments. This changed when
these countries opened up to the international economy, which allowed inflows of foreign capital (95).
The United States in the 80 s financed its debts by selling Treasury Bills, which were commonly
bought by foreign banks and then resold for additional capital. When the United States went into a
recession, these foreign banks decided to invest in East Asian markets because these markets had
expansive room for growth, which allowed investors to get a high return on investment (100). With
the new capital, the East Asian countries invested in industry and asset bubbles, which require
constant capital to pay off debts. When the United States became a good investment again in the mid
1990s, foreign investors started investing back in the United States. The capital needed to finance the
East Asian countries was gone, and these economies with high debt to equity

A Puerto Rican Childhood Analysis
Cautionary old wive s tales have long been an effective way to teach children morality and values
without boring them. In Judith Ortiz Cofer s A Partial Remembrance of a Puerto Rican Childhood (rpt.
In Santi V. Buscemi and Charlotte Smith, 75 Readings Plus, 10th ed. [New York: McGraw Hill, 2013]
67 71) it is clear how a good storyteller such as Mama can capture the attention her audience. Cofer s
grandmother often tells these cuentos to her daughters and granddaughters over afternoon coffee.
These stories are used as an indirect way for Mama to teach her family the values and lessons that she
has learned throughout her life. With her family members, Mama s presence demands a universal
respect. Everyone in the room listens to what Mama has to say, even if it s not what they want to hear.
Mama is the absolute leader among the women her family and her opinions are held in high regard.
Cofer acknowledges this saying that even her own mother did not possess Mama s matriarchal power
to command and keep everyone s attention (68). All of the stories that Mama tells are individual

These experiments included victims being stripped of bones, muscles and nerves; sometimes having
entire limbs removed to transplant to other victims; intentional exposure to mustard gas along with so
many other terrible practices. In today s society we frown on human experimentation, determined not

Snakes of Time in Dante s Hell Essay
Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit (Romans 3:13). Snakes have been a
universal symbol of fraud in literature since The Fall, when God transformed Satan into a beguiling
snake and [c]ursed Satan to slide on [his] belly for all eternity for his deception (Alter 41). Dante uses
snakes in his epic poem, the Inferno, to tie the fraudulent nature of thieves to their punishment in the
seventh bolgia of the eighth circle of Hell. Snakes have metaphorically slithered through time and
shed, taking on new appearances as deceivers in society. In 2005, they revealed a new face, Olatunji
Oluwatosin, an identity thief. From his base in Los Angeles, Olatunji Oluwatosin stole private

Decker arranged a sting operation to catch this culprit. Caught in this operation, Oluwatosin dropped
the paperwork he had just received in terror and was taken to the Los Angeles Country Superior Court,
where he received an appropriate punishment of ten years in prison under charges of identity theft (O
Harrow, Mimoso). Similarly, Dante s Inferno forces the naked and terrified thieves to run from
venomous snakes with their hands behind their backs, without a hope of hiding (Alighieri 251). The
thieves who once were concealing themselves are now exposed. Moreover, with Oluwatosin s
numerous stolen identities, his crimes resemble the chelydri and jaculi, phareans, cenchres, and head
tailed amphisbenes of Libya (251). Oluwatosin assumed these identities to camouflage himself, much
as snakes do in their environment. However, once apprehended, both the thieves of Dante s fourteenth
century Italy and today s society must endure punishment. As the United States court system
sentenced Oluwatosin to ten years in prison, Dante Alighieri arranges a more extreme punishment,
where snakes thrust between the legs of sinners and form a knot in the groin (253). This punishment
illustrates the idea of contrapasso, or a fitting punishment. Oluwatosin s life of crime tied a knot of
confinement since his former self could never be restored and his rights were limited in prison.
Furthermore, the punishment reveals the

The Pros And Cons Of The NFLAs A Monopoly
The NFL is Definitely a Monopoly Although the NFL won t admit to it, the National Football League
is most definitely a monopoly. In order to become a monopoly, you have to take control of the market
are in, in this case, it is football. Monopolies are characterized by high barriers to entry, and almost
zero competition, and great amounts of power. Monopolies are commodity controlled by one party, in
this case, the commodity is football and the party is the NFL.
Available Competition and Suitable Substitutes The National Football League is the highest level of
professional American football in the United States and to most; it is considered the top professional
football league in the world. In order to become a monopoly, you have to take control of the market
you re in. The NFL was created in the early 1900 s. In 1920 the APFL was created when
representatives from many leagues and teams came together. The APFA originally had 11 teams when
they merged with NFL they currently have 32 teams (Tuchner, 2012). The National Football League is
now the most attended domestic sports league in the world. Since completion to the NFL is at a
minimum some substitutes are two similar monopolies, the NBA and MLB. But the NFL still is the
most powerful out of all of them. (The NFL, 2013)
The NFL S Power When it comes to monopolies you need to have a great amount of power. The NFL
uses its power in many ways one way is how they treat the players. In the draft system, a player has to

Toni Morrison s Sula Essay example
Sula Toni Morrison s Sula is a novel that has a theme about the nature of evil. The story follows the
lives of two black female friends who present differing views on evil. On one hand, we have society s
conventional view of evil represented by the character of Nel and also seen in the Bottom s
disapproval of Sula. The other view of evil is seen through the character of Sula and through her
actions, which conflict with traditional society. The friendship of Sula and Nel is how the author
conveys her message about evil in the relationship. In the relationship the two different conceptions of
evil mix and create an essentially neutral mixture. By looking at Nel s and Sula s friendship and the

Absorbed in this conception of evil her whole life, it is Nel who becomes the embodiment of the town
s moral code when she gets married and is one of them (120), meaning a member of mainstream
society. Instantly, her views become the same with those of the town and she belonged to the town and
all of its ways (120). She is especially offended by Sula s behavior, because Sula sleeps with her
husband. While Nel has used the town s moral code, Sula is in open defiance of it, and Sula is caught
off guard by Nel s possessiveness (119), not really knowing that marriage...had changed all that (119),
referring to their earlier tendency to share the affection of other people (119). Nel s outrage at Sula s
actions is similar to the town s anger at Sula and we see the personal hurt that Sula s inconsiderate
actions have caused. While society s view of evil is really based on the disapproval of anything that
would break down way society works, Sula s view of evil is based on a different goal and she acts
according to a different set of standards. In other words, Sula was distinctly different (118). Sula had
been looking all along for a friend (122) and that is the goal she is really trying to reach. In sleeping
with many men, she is sort of looking for a release for her misery and...deep sorrow (122). She is

way technology is changing accounting, the value of understanding finance and economics in relation
to accounting, and the usefulness of receiving a degree in accounting and earning a CPA license.

Not only was this my first Jazz concert, but it was also my first time visiting the University Center for

Religious Views On The Fringe
Being from a small, conservative town, being called a liberal is meant insultingly. Being called atheist
was synonymous with devil worshipper . Yet, for a time, I was atheist leaning and still am a liberal.
Being on the fringe has often led to a series of confrontations that have shaped my political and
religious views, occasionally making me as prejudiced as the people who I felt were attacking me.
Thankfully, these confrontations have forced me to educate myself and have made me strong in my
opinions. While my religious and political views have often been heavily related, they have evolved
heavily over time as I matured and learned about the world.
Originally, I was raised to be a Christian. My parents were not strict church goers, but the concept of
God was certainly prevalent in my life. Being raised outside of a church community allowed me the
ability to formulate my own opinions on religion. My father wanted this experience for me. He was
baptized Catholic as a baby, but with age realized he did not agree with the traditions of the Catholic
Church. This experience influenced him to allow me to be able to choose how I wanted to be baptized.
Due to this, I settled for a Tom T. Hall Me and Jesus Have Our Own Thing Going mentality until I was
a teenager. Instead I was governed by principles such as honesty, charity, respect, and loyalty. I did not
attend church regularly, occasionally read the bible, and was not baptized but I did try to strengthen

The Yield Spread Of A Corporate Bond And A Comparable...
2. Literature review
The yield spread is defined as the difference between the yield on a corporate bond and a comparable
government bond. Prior to a study done by Merton (1974) yield spreads were considered to be mainly
driven by expected default losses on corporate bonds, tax premiums and risk premiums (Radier et al,
2015). However, Merton (1974) and more recent research has shown that factors such as equity
volatility, liquidity, interest rate levels and the slope of the treasury term structure are also significant
factors in determining changes in the yield spread (Radier et al, 2013; Lepone Wong, 2009; Peter
Grandes, 2007; Collin Dufresne, Goldstein Martin, 2001).
2.1 Equity Volatility
One of the three factors which Merton (1974) found to be a significant determinant of the yield spread
was the probability of default as indicated by the firm specific equity volatility on the stock market.
Merton (1974) predicted a positive relationship between equity volatility and the yield spread.
According to Merton (1974), a short put option on the equity of a company is equivalent to a corporate
bond issued by that company. This means that any individual corporate bond yield should have a
positive relationship with the equity value of the firm (Jubinski Lipton, 2012).
Radier et al (2015); Hibbert et al (2011); Campbell Taksler (2004) all find evidence supporting Merton
(1974) s prediction of a positive relationship. Radier et al (2015) is the only one of these studies

Importance Of Freedom Of Speech
Democracy is founded on the belief that every citizen has an equal say in all matters of life and
government affecting them. Even before democratic governments were formed, civilizations would
come together with different ideas and cultures to unite in the common goal of helping each other
grow as a species. Through this unification process civilizations were able to adapt to challenges and
advance their technology faster than ever before. Sometimes an agenda or belief becomes split

In 1791 the first Amendment was introduced guaranteeing the freedom of religion, press, assembly,
and speech. The most common abuse of free speech is when it is used as a means to verbally attack
someone personally or a subject inappropriately. All too often racial slurs are yelled out or
homophobic insults directed towards someone even though these statements have nothing to do with
the topic at hand. It seems that belittling someone for something they can t change is one of the go to
ways of expressing free speech. Catherine Rampell from the Washington Post states; For example,
when students were asked whether the First Amendment protects hate speech, 4 in 10 said no. This is,
of course, incorrect. Speech promoting hatred or at least, speech perceived as promoting hatred may
be abhorrent, but it is nonetheless constitutionally protected (Rampell A Chilling Study Shows How
Hostile College Students Are Toward Free Speech). Having a different opinion is beneficial; it creates
debates which allow the flow of clear and factual information to pass between the debating sides, but
when you begin to belittle a person and make it a personal battle you lose sight of the actual goal.
Secondly, it creates intolerance or animosity towards the opposing side due to the lack of empathy.

Essay about Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe
Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe s Sonnet to Science is an example of how the structure of a poem can both aid and
hinder the poet in communicating his or her thoughts. Usually, when the poet chooses to structure his
poem in the form of a sonnet, he is, through his speaker, asking a question and reaching an answer. In
this poem, however, the speaker, probably a young poet, questions Science but reaches no conclusion.
Poe uses the English sonnet to communicate his youthful speaker s feelings of disdain for science and
facts as opposed to mythology and fantasy, which inspire poetic musings. He implores Science as to
why she must impose her dull realities on the hearts of poets like himself, squelching their ... Show

The first time the speaker uses a personal pronoun is in line 13, at the turn of the sonnet. He states that
Science, in addition to undoing the magic of classical mythology, has stolen his personal summer
dream. The speaker is evidently a dreamer and poet disappointed by the damper that fact places on
fancy. The tone throughout the poem is one of questioning, like most sonnets. However, in this
particular poem, the speaker is disdainful to the subject, Science. He angrily accuses Science of
preying like a vulture upon the poet s heart. The speaker seems to have personal resentment against
Science, because he names himself as suffering a loss at the hands of fact and reality along with the
mythological Diana, Hamadryad, and Naiad.
In the first line of the poem, Science! true daughter of Old Time thou art!, the speaker appears to be
respectful toward Science, and the reader might mistake this poem for a tribute to the subject.
However, the tone immediately changes when he describes Science as having peering eyes in line 2.
This is the reader s first indication that the speaker holds contempt for the daughter of Old Time. The
speaker s descriptions of Science grow worse as he accuses her of dragging Diana from her car, the
moon, and driving the Hamadryad from her wood, a tree which she is never supposed to leave. When
the speaker finally mentions himself as a victim of Science s dull realities,

By these means the company is never overstocked and that has as an affect that the company will
never have a liquidity problem since assets as stock of goods are smaller and cash is bigger. Another
reason for this to happen is the fact that Just in time manufacturing is a philosophy of eliminating non
value added activities and increasing product quality throughout the manufacturing process (Meigs,
Bettner, p. 804).
But how can we control if our Just in time manufacturing system is efficient? The answer to that is
given by Meigs and Bettner : A widely used measure of efficiency in a Just in time system is the
Manufacturing Efficiency ratio (p. 805). This ratio is given by the Value Added Activities time over
the Cycle time. The cycle time is the time of processing, storing, moving and inspecting that is spent
on the material before their usage. If the ratio is equal to one then we have the perfect Manufacturing

Political Philosophy Of Niccolo Machiavelli
Niccolo Machiavelli, a banished political theorist once said, The first method for estimating the
intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him. Compared to the men around him,
Machiavelli has the most compelling political philosophy. Machiavelli certainly is a leading political
theorist who uses history and straight forwardness to prove his point. The Prince is filled with great
knowledge that has the ability to inspire the reader. Niccolo Machiavelli use of historical analysis,
realist attitude and brazen syntax are the driving forces that make his political philosophy so
compelling.
Machiavelli found it really important to study those that came before him. Machiavelli states, I have
been unable to find among my possessions anything which I hold so dear or esteem so highly as that
knowledge It is this knowledge and carefully analysis of history that makes his argument truly
compelling. Theorists before him like aristotle used observation and imagination in order to develop
their political theory s. But observation does not determine political success it is the careful analysis
and emulation of great leaders . Machiavelli proves this when he says , But as to exercise for the mind,
the prince ought to read history and study the actions of eminent men,...and above all, do as some
eminent men have done in the past,..so that when fortune changes she may find him prepared to resist
her blows. This speaks to the spellbinding nature of Machiavelli s

Rise and Fall of the Romanov Dynasty
The Romanov Dynasty held the Russian Empire as one of the most powerful European states for over
three centuries. In 1917, during Nicholas II s contradictory reign, a revolution began that transformed
the empire into the first ever communist nation, replacing the infamous autocratic rule and introducing
the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The Russian people were ruled by an autocratic government since 1613 when the Romanov Dynasty
began. The government was run by the Tsar who had unlimited power over the rest of Russia. The
Tsar set up a system of government involving an imperial council, a small cabinet of ministers and a
senate; all of which were implemented as personal advisers and delegates. The Tsar had control over

By 1916, dissatisfaction within Russian monarch had reached boiling point. Rasputin was murdered
by the Tsar s own cousins and the majority of the parliament and upper classes were no longer willing
to meet expectations of loyalty, respect and patriotism.
Even though the Russian Revolution transpired quite suddenly, the foundations of it may have started
centuries earlier. Since the 1700s, the ideas of European regime had begun to influence the minds of
Russian citizens. Lower classes began to believe in democratic rights and equality, newspapers and
books spread concepts about universal rights and many believed in a future with a just ruler and a
more cultured society.
From the 1800s, the Russian monarchy gradually became weaker and increasingly fragile. After the
death of Alexander I in 1825, a group of Decembrists made up of thousands of soldiers seized
advantage of a succession issue and demanded reforms plus a written constitution. This displayed a
hint of light and prompted many to rethink the government system and their place within the
hierarchy. Then after the death of Nicholas I in 1855, Alexander II rose to power and was referred to
as the great liberator after emancipating the Russian serfs in 1861. While the act earned Alexander
public affection and respect, it angered landowners, created an economic crisis and also

Creationism, The, And The Intelligent Designers
Is the Bible capable of supporting the idea of evolution? This is a question that tends to leave many
Christians divided between science and theology. Over the years, various views have been formed in
regards to this question. The Young Earth Creationists strongly oppose any mention of evolution. Old
Earth Creationism is an umbrella term for the various ways in which Christians believe evolution fits
into creation. Within this group are the theistic evolutionists, the progressive creationists, and the
intelligent designers. Intelligent designers are against evolution, but believe in an old earth. The
theistic evolutionists and progressive evolutionists believe in both an old earth and part, if not all, of
what evolution entails. These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are, however, various views on how these periods of time occurred. One such view is the day
age view in which each day mentioned in the Bible represents an unidentified age of time. Evolution
fits into this view because it could occur within the span of each age. Another approach is the
restoration view, which, although fantastical, attempts to please every side to this view. This view
believes that God created the world and it grew and evolved, but turned evil. He then destroyed it and
it became the dark, formless void mentioned in verse two of chapter one. From this point He remade
life within the week period. Evolution fits into this view because organisms evolved into evil forms
the first time they were created and evolved in good ways once remade (Eddy).
On the other hand, theistic evolutionists believe evolution occurred just as science believes it has
happened, only that is was God who set it in motion and planned how it would happen. This view is
sometimes associated with a God of the gaps view because they accredit God with many of the
systems and functions that are not fully explained by science (Armstrong).
When arguing in favor of evolution, the aforementioned views are the ones most often used. A key
argument that more closely follows the progressive creationist view involves natural selection. A
major point for the progressives is their belief in microevolution, which is essentially

The Importance Of Representation In Popular Media
Turn on the TV. Watch any show for more than three minutes and count. Count the amount of non
white people you see, the number of non straight relationships shown, the number of non cis people
you see. Chances are, the majority of what you saw was cisgendered, straight, white people. Does that
make sense? Think about that for a second. How many people in the world can tick all those boxes
about themselves?
As a cisgendered white person, I ve been lucky enough to have those aspects of my identity
represented in the popular media thus far. Therefore, I m going to focus more on the lack of
representation for queer people in the media, as it may not be my place to speak about the other issues,
however many opinions I may have on those subjects. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s something I ve watched straight people struggle with understanding. A large part of the issue
lies with children. Children learn what they see, and if they re constantly shown nothing but straight
couples in the media, that s what they ll internalise as normal. This is incredibly detrimental as they
grow up, as it may result in them suppressing their feelings or writing them off as weird. It can create
a feeling of isolation for those who don t fit the heteronormative narrative that s presented so often.
This is why representation is important. This speech is for all the little girls out there who think they
have to love a man, who are confused about what their feelings mean. This speech is for all the little
boys out there who think they have to love a woman, who are confused. This speech is for everyone
who s ever struggled to understand themselves, or felt different since they never saw anyone like them
on TV.
And so here it is. This is me, standing before you, asking for help. If you consider yourself an
LGBTQ+ ally, here s your chance to prove it. If we all stand together, we can change this. As a
collective voice, we must demand better representation. We must demand action be taken. We must
demand change. Thank

There has been increasing controversy surrounding pharmaceutical marketing and influence as
accusations and findings of influence on doctors and other health professionals through drug reps,
including the constant provision of marketing gifts and biased information to health professionals have
lead to the suspicion of influencing doctors decisions in a way that profits the pharmaceutical
company which in some cases has resulted in doctors prescribing products which would not benefit
the patient at all or less than other drugs. Some advocacy groups, such as No Free Lunch, have often

Billy Pilgrim Anti Hero
Seen throughout war novels, an anti hero is a character that manifests characteristics that usually
appear foolish, making the character an easy target of abuse and a child like status. In the fictional
novel, Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, the protagonist, Billy Pilgrim is a classic anti hero
character. He lacks both valor and dignity, making it easy for his fellow soldiers to make fun of him
and treat him like a child. In addition, Billy possesses a physical appearance that is foolish and
childish, making it hard for him to gain respect from people of higher authority. He is meek, mild and
unassuming. During his travels as a soldier in WWII, Billy is constantly treated as a lower individual

How Did Thurgood Marshall Influence The Civil Rights Movement
PAGE

PSC HIST 202
November 20, 2017
In my research of the civil rights movement I think Thurgood Marshall and President Kennedy is on
equal footing with Martin Luther King Jr. in influence the movement. I call it a three prong approach.
Marshall helps strip the segregation law. King shows the country how it treats its minority citizens.
And President Kennedy was ready to sign into law the civil rights bill.
The civil rights movement was a political movement created by civil resistance with the goal of
change using nonviolent forms of resistance.
According to Adamson
, civil rights refer to the rights of a citizen to political and social freedom and equality. The birth of the
modern civil rights movement was greatly influenced, by the agitation of the African Americans for
equal rights and abolishment of the segregation laws. The main goal of the civil rights movement was
to ensure that equal rights of the people, would be protected, by law.
This movement redefines the idea of what it meant to be free in America. Faced with racial
discrimination, social prejudice and poor services, the minority groups realized that they had to fight
for their rights. Studies by McWhorter showed that influential religious and business leaders and early
African American scholars pioneered the modern civil rights movement. Some of the most notable
individuals who spear headed the movement included the aforementioned of Marshall, King,

  • 2. Collapse Of Hawaii Essay HONOLULU, Hawaii A giant stream of molten hot lava is shooting out of a sea cliff on Hawaii Island. The lava is pouring into the Pacific Ocean. It is exploding as soon as it hits the water. Molten lava is rock that is so hot is has become liquid. It can erupt out of the mouth of volcanos. It can also pour out of natural tunnels known as lava tubes. The huge new lava flow originates from within the Kilauea volcano. It is gushing from a lava tube exiting on the southeast side of the Big Island. The tube was exposed when a huge lava delta broke off and fell into the ocean on New Year s Eve. Turpin has been viewing such events for 30 years. Park Service Has Restricted Areas For Viewing On land, the National Park Service is responsible for the safety of visitors along the shore. It has restricted the areas that people can enter to view the flow. However, Turpin said he frequently sees people on the cliff edge where they shouldn t be. Even so, people are still going to parts of the cliff edge near the lava flow, Orlando said. Park rangers have fined people who cross into off limits areas. However, it is nearly impossible to prevent everyone from breaking the rules, Orlando ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were able to brilliantly adapt to their surroundings and were able to invent things like the arch and the dome out of hardened mud. Mud brick was also used to create the ziggurat(document 7). • 5. The Chu Lai Massacre Attacks stretched as far as the northern U.S. military installation, Chu Lai, down to the primary objective in the south, Saigon. The launch of such an intricate and fierce attack caught many U.S. commanders off guard because at the time, the potential of the Northern fighters was severely underestimated. In the years before, Saigon acted as a safe haven for many refugees trying to escape the horrors of war. The comfort of the city soon vanished when the North Vietnamese sent 35 battalions to seize six objectives in the capital. A few of these enemy fighters took over a government radio station with the intention of spreading pro communist propaganda. The North Vietnamese believed that if they could control the transmitting tower, they could convince the citizens of the South to riot against the U.S. forces. Fortunately for the U.S. troops, this plan was stopped by a Lieutenant of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) who previously decided to cut all transmission to and from the government radio tower. A fossil fuel is a naturally occurring fuel of organic nature, such as coal, crude oil and natural gases. It is often referred to as buried sunshine because the plants which formed coal captured energy from the sun through photosynthesis to create the compounds that makes up plant tissue. There are about 267 billion tons or, thirteen percent, of known American reserves in the United States. The most important element in the plant material is carbon, which gives coal most of its energy. For instance, Kilifi County has 35 Wards of varying sizes but threeWards (Ganze 5,427 sq. km; Bamba 1,532.70; Marafa and 686.90 sq. km.) account for 62% of the entire area of Kilifi County. • 11. The Consequences Of Being A Disaster So let s be honest with ourselves for minutes here. The chances of this film being a disaster were high from the jump, I talked a bit about this in an editorial I wrote this last week. Where to begin? You have a film here that was reshot at least twice for multiple reasons. First, you have a studio in Warner Bros that is absolutely scared to death of bad reviews for this film given out bad Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Suicide Squad were received by mainstream critics. Secondly, you had an entire cut of the film that was scrapped because executives hated Zack Snyder s original vision. If you notice any differences in tone and have to remember that this film basically had two directors. So it s hard to tell who is at fault for when something goes wrong and who to praise when something goes right. From what I can tell much of Zack s premise was kept in place. If you go back and watch the first trailer before the reshoots can see the tone was serious and straightforward. But this was a big problem for WB executives as they forced reshoots to add more humor and color to the film and Synder s original vision had been done away with. As far as villain goes, Steppenwolf is as generic as they come. Marvel is notorious for weak villains but here the plot is more menacing than the bad guy and he doesn t come off as a real threat in the film especially when Superman shows up (spoiler alert). I also found Flash s comedic relief to be tiring after a point as well but to his credit, he and Superman have arguably the best moment of the film. So what did work in Justice League? DC is finally finding the balance in making a superhero movie fun and keeping the tone in balance. We have seen DC movies take itself too seriously while Marvel films are obnoxiously funny. Justice League balances itself in the limited time they have. The introductions of Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg does indeed give you enough of what you need to know about the characters without throwing the entire story out of whack. Having that in mind my position on white privilege (or white skin privilege) which can also be called the huge pink elephant in the room. As a mother myself, I began to recognize how I can relate to the speaker s challenges of understanding a child s need to test limits and break free from dependency. I realized through the speaker s obvious allusions to Houdini expressing the need to break free, the contrast used to convey the indirect references to Houdini, and the similes used to express emotion toward reflecting back on a time of innocence, accepting the need of a maturing child s independence proves the strength of a mother s love. My family has gone through the process and it was a very emotional time for us all. The only home my family was able to get into was one that could be rented with the option to buy. Having more homes in the market that have that option makes it not only more convenient, but more affordable for families like mine who have gone through foreclosure. Giving possible tenants the option to rent towards owing is a great way to get the housing market back on track. People who are struggling financially cannot afford to just buy a home. Allowing people the option to rent towards buying, takes some of the stress off the tenants and allows longer time to come up with the money, which means less people getting evicted or foreclosed on. The less people that are foreclosed on, the better the market for homes will be. Currently the market is great for anyone who is financially stable to purchase any home that has a foreclosure sign out front. If the option rent to own was made more available the people looking for homes, then it would allow them to save more money until they were financially stable to either buy the home, or move to another affordable location. Although I don t agree with some interpretations of these rules and laws, as I ve grown up I have developed my own code stemming deeply from my religion. For this reason, I believe that divine command/natural law theory are the closest related ethical systems to my own ethical code even though there are many flaws that come with them. Divine command is an ethical system that derives heavily from a religious background. This system believes that since God is the creator and ruler of all, he is the one who decides the ethical and moral principles. It can be simply put as morally right means commanded by God and morally wrong means forbidden by God (Rachel, 2002). Because of this, moral correctness can only be found through religion. Since many of the rules and laws that come from divine command are so adamantly set into place, there are many flaws that can come from them. One major flaw that develops from divine command is one of reason. In the classical sense of divine command all laws come straight from God. With these laws there are no questions asked to if they are truly right or wrong. With this said there are many different situations that can come to mind. One example can be in the form of a question. What would happen if God commanded that murder was considered morally right? With reasoning skills, we can see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Snakes of Time in Dante s Hell Essay Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit (Romans 3:13). Snakes have been a universal symbol of fraud in literature since The Fall, when God transformed Satan into a beguiling snake and [c]ursed Satan to slide on [his] belly for all eternity for his deception (Alter 41). Dante uses snakes in his epic poem, the Inferno, to tie the fraudulent nature of thieves to their punishment in the seventh bolgia of the eighth circle of Hell. Snakes have metaphorically slithered through time and shed, taking on new appearances as deceivers in society. In 2005, they revealed a new face, Olatunji Oluwatosin, an identity thief. From his base in Los Angeles, Olatunji Oluwatosin stole private information, such as credit card ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Decker arranged a sting operation to catch this culprit. Caught in this operation, Oluwatosin dropped the paperwork he had just received in terror and was taken to the Los Angeles Country Superior Court, where he received an appropriate punishment of ten years in prison under charges of identity theft (O Harrow, Mimoso). Similarly, Dante s Inferno forces the naked and terrified thieves to run from venomous snakes with their hands behind their backs, without a hope of hiding (Alighieri 251). The thieves who once were concealing themselves are now exposed. Moreover, with Oluwatosin s numerous stolen identities, his crimes resemble the chelydri and jaculi, phareans, cenchres, and head tailed amphisbenes of Libya (251). Oluwatosin assumed these identities to camouflage himself, much as snakes do in their environment. However, once apprehended, both the thieves of Dante s fourteenth century Italy and today s society must endure punishment. As the United States court system sentenced Oluwatosin to ten years in prison, Dante Alighieri arranges a more extreme punishment, where snakes thrust between the legs of sinners and form a knot in the groin (253). This punishment illustrates the idea of contrapasso, or a fitting punishment. Oluwatosin s life of crime tied a knot of confinement since his former self could never be restored and his rights were limited in prison. Furthermore, the punishment reveals the ... The story follows the lives of two black female friends who present differing views on evil. On one hand, we have society s conventional view of evil represented by the character of Nel and also seen in the Bottom s disapproval of Sula. The other view of evil is seen through the character of Sula and through her actions, which conflict with traditional society. The friendship of Sula and Nel is how the author conveys her message about evil in the relationship. • 36. The Yield Spread Of A Corporate Bond And A Comparable... 2. Literature review The yield spread is defined as the difference between the yield on a corporate bond and a comparable government bond. Prior to a study done by Merton (1974) yield spreads were considered to be mainly driven by expected default losses on corporate bonds, tax premiums and risk premiums (Radier et al, 2015). However, Merton (1974) and more recent research has shown that factors such as equity volatility, liquidity, interest rate levels and the slope of the treasury term structure are also significant factors in determining changes in the yield spread (Radier et al, 2013; Lepone Wong, 2009; Peter Grandes, 2007; Collin Dufresne, Goldstein Martin, 2001). 2.1 Equity Volatility One of the three factors which Merton (1974) found to be a significant determinant of the yield spread was the probability of default as indicated by the firm specific equity volatility on the stock market. Merton (1974) predicted a positive relationship between equity volatility and the yield spread. According to Merton (1974), a short put option on the equity of a company is equivalent to a corporate bond issued by that company. This means that any individual corporate bond yield should have a positive relationship with the equity value of the firm (Jubinski Lipton, 2012). Radier et al (2015); Hibbert et al (2011); Campbell Taksler (2004) all find evidence supporting Merton (1974) s prediction of a positive relationship. It seems that belittling someone for something they can t change is one of the go to ways of expressing free speech. Catherine Rampell from the Washington Post states; For example, when students were asked whether the First Amendment protects hate speech, 4 in 10 said no. This is, of course, incorrect. Speech promoting hatred or at least, speech perceived as promoting hatred may be abhorrent, but it is nonetheless constitutionally protected (Rampell A Chilling Study Shows How Hostile College Students Are Toward Free Speech). Essay about Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe Sonnet to Science by Edgar Allen Poe Edgar Allen Poe s Sonnet to Science is an example of how the structure of a poem can both aid and hinder the poet in communicating his or her thoughts. Usually, when the poet chooses to structure his poem in the form of a sonnet, he is, through his speaker, asking a question and reaching an answer. In this poem, however, the speaker, probably a young poet, questions Science but reaches no conclusion. Poe uses the English sonnet to communicate his youthful speaker s feelings of disdain for science and facts as opposed to mythology and fantasy, which inspire poetic musings. The first time the speaker uses a personal pronoun is in line 13, at the turn of the sonnet. He states that Science, in addition to undoing the magic of classical mythology, has stolen his personal summer dream. The speaker is evidently a dreamer and poet disappointed by the damper that fact places on fancy. The tone throughout the poem is one of questioning, like most sonnets. However, in this particular poem, the speaker is disdainful to the subject, Science. He angrily accuses Science of preying like a vulture upon the poet s heart. The speaker seems to have personal resentment against Science, because he names himself as suffering a loss at the hands of fact and reality along with the mythological Diana, Hamadryad, and Naiad. In the first line of the poem, Science! true daughter of Old Time thou art!, the speaker appears to be respectful toward Science, and the reader might mistake this poem for a tribute to the subject. However, the tone immediately changes when he describes Science as having peering eyes in line 2. This is the reader s first indication that the speaker holds contempt for the daughter of Old Time. This is incredibly detrimental as they grow up, as it may result in them suppressing their feelings or writing them off as weird. It can create a feeling of isolation for those who don t fit the heteronormative narrative that s presented so often. This is why representation is important. This speech is for everyone who s ever struggled to understand themselves, or felt different since they never saw anyone like them on TV. And so here it is. This is me, standing before you, asking for help. If you consider yourself an LGBTQ+ ally, here s your chance to prove it. If we all stand together, we can change this. As a collective voice, we must demand better representation. We must demand action be taken. We must demand change. Thank ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I call it a three prong approach. Marshall helps strip the segregation law. King shows the country how it treats its minority citizens. And President Kennedy was ready to sign into law the civil rights bill. The civil rights movement was a political movement created by civil resistance with the goal of change using nonviolent forms of resistance. According to Adamson , civil rights refer to the rights of a citizen to political and social freedom and equality. The birth of the modern civil rights movement was greatly influenced, by the agitation of the African Americans for equal rights and abolishment of the segregation laws. The main goal of the civil rights movement was to ensure that equal rights of the people, would be protected, by law. This movement redefines the idea of what it meant to be free in America. Some of the most notable individuals who spear headed the movement included the aforementioned of Marshall, King, Kennedyas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
