Arctic Like Biomes
The Arctic like biomes has a very limited amount of plant and animal life compared to other biomes.
These Arctic like biomes would include the Arctic of course, the Taiga, and the Tundra. They are very
well known for its ridiculously cold and harsh climate and is important because it helps moderate our
global climate. One example of an animal from these Arctic like biomes is the Mustela obsesipedetes.
There is little doubt that creatures in these Arctic like biomes are perfectly adapted for life in the cold.
In my personal opinion, I believe that the Mustela obsesipedetes is the most well adapted creature in
the whole entire Animalia. The species is a member of the Mustela genus. The genus Mustela can be
characterized by several, distinct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mustela albus obesipedetes has adapted to its environment in many numerous ways such as it is at
the top of the food chain in the Arctic, Tundra, and Taiga despite its appearance. An adaptation it has
would be its light, snowy white coat of fur that can turn into a shade of brown. Over the course of the
biome s harsh winters, it snows a tremendous amount, making everything white, icy, and snowy. In the
winter, the Mustela albus obesipedetes fur is snowy white and turns brown as it transitions to the
summer, blending into the environment. Another characteristic it has is its ability to keep warm
against the jarring cold weather. The Mustela albus obesipedetes has insulated blubber, making it fat,
but helps it keep cozy, warm, and active throughout its day. The diet of the Mustela albus obesipedetes
primarily consists of meat, such as polar bears, wolves, eagles, foxes, and whatnot. Although these
animals may seem impossible for this small, vulnerable creature to catch, the Mustela albus
obesipedetes hunger and wanting of prey takes on another level of savage, ferociously defeating its
opponent with all its features. The Mustela albus obesipedetes has a very large diet and likes to eat
very much, in reflection to its chubby

The Lincoln Lawyer By Michael Connelly
1. Full Title, author s name, copyright date, and number of pages. 2. The Lincoln Lawyer is a 404 page
crime fiction novel written by Michael Connelly, 2005. Criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller is
presented with his latest client, Beverly Hills playboy, Louis Roulet. Roulet is accused of rape and
murder but this does not trouble Haller; on the contrary, he revels in it because it means he is being
offered a franchise case, or a case offering a huge payout. Naturally, Haller takes the offer but what is
unique about this case is that for the first time ever, Haller thinks he may have an innocent client. This
is very worrying as Haller s father once said There is no client as scary as an innocent man. As the
case continues, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Haller meets Roulet for the first time in jail, the author lightly introduces the issue of jailhouse
snitches. Although it is only a brief moment that Haller urges Roulet to stay quiet, it is an important
moment that highlights an extremely common problem in today s jail system, which is that of
eavesdroppers and the way they can further endanger their fellow criminals. Furthermore, Connelly
excels at comparing the legal system to Haller s own philosophies. Much of the book revolves around
the concept that the law is a machine, and that there are many gray areas. Haller uses all of the
technicalities of the law in order to provide for the best defense of the client, and it is these
technicalities or gray areas that is what makes the whole novel so believable. An example of this is
when his investigator, Raul Levin, gives Haller a video of Roulet meeting the victim at the bar. Haller
knows that he will have to turn it over to the prosecution in accordance with the rule of discovery, but
at the same time, he uses it to his advantage because he didn t technically have to turn over anything
until I was sure I planned to use it in trial (105). In today s legal system, there are countless instances
of cases winning on technicalities or on very unspecific laws, so much that is clear to see how Haller s
methods are constantly replicated in the real world. 5. Haller is initially a very unlikeable character

Military Planning For The First Time During World War II
Since the Cold War, scholars utilizing a military and state centric approach to the study of regime
security such as Paul Williams, Joseph Nye and Sean Lynn Jones, and Stephen Walt have made
significant contributions to the literature on security studies. While these authors present unique
viewpoints, they all tend share the perspective that major international conflict has been a key factor in
the development of this field. Stephen Walt pointed out that the idea of security studies first emerged
as a result of civilians becom[ing] extensively involved in military planning for the first time during
World War II. This surge in civilian interest during the war led to an era of security studies known as
the Golden Age during which Paul Williams indicated that civilian strategists enjoyed relatively close
connections with Western governments and their foreign and security policies. The enthusiasm for this
area of study was maintained for a substantial amount of time due to what Joseph Nye called the
unprecedented nature of security problems confronting the United States , which were mostly brought
about by the advent of the atomic age. Several forces however, would eventually counteract the uptick
in interest; principle among them was the negative perception of the Vietnam War. Walt highlighted
this idea stating the debacle in Indochina ... made the study of security affairs unfashionable in many
universities. Fortunately for the progression of the field, this

Mailbox Tool, Dropsonde Sensor And The Infrared Satellite
In this modern day and age, there are many possible solutions to many possible questions. A common
occurence recently, has been researchers and archeologists wondering what the next best technology is
going to be. In order to bring answers to this question, many new technologies are being developed.
Some examples of such are, the Mailbox tool, Dropsonde Sensor, and the Infrared Satellite. Although
all of these have their specialties, the most advanced of the three is the Dropsonde Sensor. This
conclusion is clearly evident for a number of reasons. For instance, they can help reveal the goings on
of a hurricane before it touches land, as well as predicting its fate. If the winds slow down by fractions
of a degree within a matter of seconds, the Sensor will know. As well as provide explicit evidence to
support these conclusions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate in chapter 16 the city of Fentress, Texas gets a telephone line that
connects them to the state capitol of Austin, Texas which is approximately 45 miles away. This is a
huge change for the residents of Fentress because they are finally able to communicate to another
town without having to drive there. The telephone line is a sign that the city of Fentress is finally
evolving to become a more modern city even though they are taking more time than the larger cities.
The quote is saying that not all cities can evolve at the same time and that some of them may take
more time than others, and the cities that do not evolve or modernize will become extinct. In chapter

Comparing Euro Disney s Fiscal Of Spending Patterns Of...
1.How could the company have erred so badly in its estimates of spending patterns of European
customers?
In my opinion, these are three main reasons attributing to Euro Disney fail. Firstly, the lack of prior
market research and study for European lifestyle and cultural before European Disney built. Euro
Disney chose to spend excessive expenditures on the establishment, but Euro Disney did not
recognize the geographic and cultural differences between Europeans and Americans. For example,
most of Europeans will not notice leather wallpaper when they had their lunch in Disney, and most
Europeans are not used to stay overnight in the theme park, so the heavy investment in hotels will
bring more risk for Euro Disney. Secondly, higher price did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The attitude of Disney management is confidently dismissive making them appear out of touch with
the cultural differences.
2. Could a better reading of the impact of cultural differences on revenues have been achieved?
Culture difference will influence the number of tourists and the acceptance level of customers. Euro
Disney followed the brand policies to the English instructions only, no wine providing in the theme
park, high price of ticket, and standardized merchandise and food items, consequently wide spread
dissatisfaction among the customers. When a new brand enters different cultures, it is inevitable for
customers in new market to repel it or spend much time to accept it,so the new brand should be
brought closer to local culture by providing a platform to interact with the brand in customer s terms.
Also culture different will bring different consumption patterns, Europeans are likely to spend
reasonable price on entertainment, so the price of Euro Disney will be too high to accept and decrease
the number of tourists in Euro Disney. Different culture has different drinking and eating habits,Euro
Disney forbad drinking wine in lunch time, but most French like to drink wine when they enjoy their
meal. All of these elements deriving from culture difference will influence the revenue of Euro Disney
and even result in the failure of Euro Disney.

The Major Sports at Mandelbaum are Baseball, Basketball,...
As we moved on history, depending on the period of time that we find ourselves in, a particular sport
would be important as people relate their lives into it. Mandelbaum focus on three different sports and
three different time periods, to show us their relationship. He states that, sports come to play an
important role in our lives as we are able relate and find a significance that represent and fits our lives.
This is the explanation Mandelbaum reaches when we tries to explain why Americans had become
ardent fans of sports. The three major American sports that Mandelbaum focus on are baseball,
football and basketball. This sports had been chosen for America because they embody three major
stages in American culture. Baseball represents the agrarian period, football the industrial revolution
and basketball the new innovative and modern society.
Mandelbaum dedicates a complete chapter for each of the three sports. In each chapter he explains the
history, rules and culture as references to demonstrate the importance of each sport to the past as well
as the message they give to their fans. By analyzing the period time and the history of each game, he
correlates even that help us demonstrate the importance each game had in their corresponding period.
As well as the idea of merit, in where everyone is equal. By showing us how people became attractive
to a particular sport, Mandelbaum s ideas were becoming clearer. People will be attractive to a sport

A procedural system in which I have participated before was learning how Congress passes public
policy. I believe the procedural they have is not as strict as the civil procedural system, but it in fact
does a procedural to help create good thorough policies. I have not read the readings yet, but some key
features to Congress passing legislation is The Public Policy Process.
In this process, there are steps for policies to become implemented.
The steps are problem identification, policy formulation, policy adoption, policy implementation and
policy evaluation. A policy always begins with policy identification and so forth, but can go right back
to the first step again and again, if issues or questions arise over the policy in question. The current
remedies to the Public Policy Process aren t much, but a present remedy is abandoning the policy and
start on another policy. Thus, the Public Policy Process is not always efficient.
The fairness in this procedural process may seem democratic in Congress, but many political players

Analysis Of The Novel Nervous Conditions
In the novel Nervous Conditions, Tsitsi Dangarembga explores the concepts of power and oppression.
Speaking up about oppression can liberate a person, so the people in charge do not want the oppressed
to speak up. In Nervous Conditions, males have much more dominance in life than females. Maiguru,
Nyasha, and Lucia all attempt to stand up for themselves against oppression, with little success.
Dangarembga develops the characters Maiguru, Nyasha, and Lucia in order to convey how speaking
out against oppression is necessary but not sufficient to gain power. Nyasha vocally resists when she
feels oppressed because she refuses to accept being controlled. However, as a child, she must defer to
her parents whether she likes it or not. Early in the novel, Maiguru questions if Nyasha should read
Lady Chatterly s Lover, a book that contains many Western themes and ideals, because that s not very
good...[she doesn t] want [her] to read books like that . Nyasha retorts, What s all the fuss about
anyway? It s only a book and I m only reading it (75). The controversy of Lady Chatterly s Lover
causes Maiguru to label it as not very good . Italics place extra emphasis on the words book and
reading , because these two words are associated with gaining knowledge, and therefore gaining
power. Maiguru does not want Nyasha to gain power in the form of ideas that might cause her to rebel
against her parents. Nyasha s confrontational attitude about the book reaffirms Maiguru s belief that it

Comparing Dr. Moreau And The Beetle
In two fin de siècle novels, H.G. Wells s The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896) and Robert Marsh s The
Beetle (1897), sadism plays a central role. However, while The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle
both include characters that exemplify sadism, the novels differ greatly in the characters portrayals
due to the sadistic characters gender. The sadistic Moreau is presented as Machiavellian tyrant.
However, because Moreau s gender aligns with ideas of gendered sadism, the novel does not portray
him as degenerate, monstrous, nor ambiguous. In contrast, The Beetle tampers with the sadistic female
body, which leads to doubt of her true sex and form and leaves her as an undecidable, degenerate
monstrosity. The sadistic characters descriptions in The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle ... Show

A perplexing amalgamation of culture and nature led to the pathologizing of sexual perversion by 19th
century sexologists (Peakman 1). Richard von Krafft Ebing first introduced the term sadism in his
book Psychopathic Sexualis (1886). Sadism includes the experience of mental and physical suffering
as pleasurable (Holguin 1285). Later defined as one of the modern perversions by Sigmund Freud, it
was traditionally seen as existing within the male domain (Schaffner 182), and as a type of male
sexual cruelty (Wayne 542). Furthering Krafft Ebing s work, Freud suggests that sadism s life
preserving aggression in males is natural and biologically determined (Holguin 1286). In contrast,

The Extent to Which Official Crime Statistics Provides a Reliable Estimate of the Amount of Crime

The Criminal Justice System is an area of the English Legal System that strikes a balance between
punishing the guilty and protecting the innocent. This balance has been the subject of much debate in
the last 20 years because there has been a large number of miscarriages of justice, where innocent
citizens/ people are sent to prison. This then suggested that the system had tipped this balance too far
and was greatly engaged in proving guilt. Examples of high profile cases that show some of these

Civic Virtue In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics
Aristotle was a premier Greek philosopher who had some very interesting concepts on ethics, which
are collectively called the Nicomachean Ethics. His collection of work has led to the development of
many theories on the basis for human existence. The main question by Aristotle s series of lectures is
the bane of human existence. According to Aristotle, humans seek happiness (4). If anything promises
happiness, then human will go in the direction it leads. Aristotle was also just as interested in other
areas such as virtue. His opinion of human ethical action is based on the rationality of human beings.

Individual civic virtues is connected to a world made up of a number of elements such as
understanding individual importance the community, and seeking to serve one s community. Without a
sense of civic duty, individuals would be lost and would not know how to interrelate with other
members of their community. Civic virtue is more than just acknowledging that the word is made up
of more than one individual, it is accepting that one is not alone, and thus one needs to think of others
when doing anything. Civic virtue is composed of various elements. One such element is participation.
In order to be virtuous civically, one has to actively participate in social activities. Taking part means
contributing one s skills, expertise and thoughts on matters that are socially acceptable. Any
community requires active participation of all its members, which is something that is really not seen
today. Another element of civic virtue is trustworthiness. Citizens, in addition to being actively
involved in what is happening in their respective societies should be able to be trusted. This is because
participation sometimes being involved means being accorded responsibility of communal assets.
They should be wasted, and they should not be used for individual gain. This is important because
sometimes people misuse things given to them by their communities, and forget that they are not
alone. This may lead to corruptive practices. Lastly, the last aspect of civic virtue

Dante Di Gregorio, Douglas E Thomas, Fernán González de Castilla. International Journal of

Abstract (Summary)
We analyze how competitive dynamics within the Mexican retail sector have shifted following the
entrance and ascendance of Wal Mart, and how Mexican retailers have responded individually and
collectively to Wal Mart s dominance. We discuss implications for strategic management and
international business research as well as for managers of emerging market firms that face dominant

To analyze these competitive interactions, we draw on the competitive dynamics stream of research
within strategic management (e.g., Grimm Smith, 1997; Smith, Ferrier Ndofor, 2001; Ketchen, Snow
Hoover, 2004). We show how competitive dynamics have evolved in the Mexican retail industry
following the entrance and dominance of Wal Mart. We conclude with a discussion of the implications
for both theory and practice.
1. Competitive Dynamics between Dominant Multinationals and Emerging Market Firms
Emerging economies are generally characterized by a rapid pace of economic growth, increasing
liberalization of trade and investment regimes, and economic restructuring (Hoskisson et al, 2000).
Mexico, for instance, maintained high trade barriers and imposed strict limitations on foreign
investment through the mid 1980s. From the point at which Mexico joined the General Agreement on
Tariffs and Trade in 1986 through the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement
with Canada and the United States in 1994 and a broad range of similar agreements with other
countries, Mexican firms became increasingly exposed to competitive pressures from foreign firms in
the form of imported products as well as foreign owned operations in Mexico. In this respect, the
Mexican experience is similar to that of emerging economies throughout Latin America (which also

Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol
1. The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC is
the binding/ruling international law on children s rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and
expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate
convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication. States
that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus superseding
the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only age that could be
agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the minimum age; however,
the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and decided that age eighteen
should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional Protocol on the sale of
children expands on the CRC s stance on the exploitation of children. The Optional Protocol made
specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as prostitution and pornography.
It outlines the measures that States should take in protecting children rom sexual exploitation. The
Optional Protocol on communication is fairly new and it recognizes children s rights to bring
grievances on the violation of their rights to the committee. It also outlines ways that States and
governments can help children submit their claims. 2a. Haiti reported that street children in

Becoming A Knights Essay
The knights were the third level of feudal society in Europe. Knights were usually vassals who paid
protection and loyalty to their lords in return for land. They were warriors in armor who fought on
horseback and had to have a good deal of wealth in order to afford a full suit of armor and a horse.
Knights wore coats of armor made from metal links called mail and carried swords and shields. A
knight s tactic when fighting in war was that he would charge at his enemies then spear them with his
lance. During the time period of AD 700s to AD 1200s, the knights were the most powerful soldiers in
Europe. Becoming a knight in Europe was a very tough task that started at a very young age. In the
beginning of the dreadful path to becoming a knight, a boy was served as a servant that was also

knight training. They had to help the ladies in every way possible. In return, ladies taught the pages
how to sing, dance, compose music, and play the harp, which were skills valued in knights. The young
boy then became a squire after seven years of being a page. In this part of training, the young boy

Nepali belongs to the Indo Iranian branch of the Indo European language family and is closely related
to Hindi. It began appearing (in an older form) in what is now Nepal around 300 C.E., when Hindu
Indo Aryans invaded the area from the south, displacing the Buddhist Kirantis. The now unified Nepal
is made up of over one hundred ethnic groups, each with its own language and culture. Nepali is the
national unifying language and is spoken by most Nepalis as a first or second language (O Rourke and

Nepali acts as a lingua franca in areas throughout the Himalayan region and has a long history of
being imposed through military conquest and sustained by political domination. Because of this, there
are a number of related dialects that are spoken apart from the standard form, though it is becoming
increasingly standardized (Riccardi 2003, 540). It is hard to decipher, given my limited

Nepali is now one of the official languages of India and, like Hindi, it uses the Devanagari script (O

Now I m forced to plan the little time remaining and finish with a remark to prove to myself that I can

problem is that I do not do much practice in writing. All my papers have no new ideas, because I do
not read my notes, and I never make use of my extra time to practise the art of writing; even if it is just
for the fun of writing. Since there are only two papers left. I will start with the one that is needed first,
try to limit my time on this paper, evaluate it myself, then find someone else to go through it before
handing it to the teacher. I am good at editing rather than doing the actual writing; so I must stop the
editing and make sure the paper is complete first, and editing will be the last thing I do. I might not
like writing because it demands more creativity, but I now know that the more I write, the more
creative I become. I realize this is the time to make a sacrifice, that I should have made before, but
because of my ignorance did not. I deceived myself thinking that i would remember the lecture notes
without putting them in ink and paper. I now figured that to keep a record of my ideas I must be
consistent in writing. I have drained myself by not keeping a journal to help keep my thoughts in
writing and develop new better ideas. Although it seems a little too late, better late than never, and

The Four Flash Videos
The first flash video shows the outer part of the ear (pinna) that serves as the funnel catching the
sound and the ear canal that carries the sound to the eardrum (tympanic membrane). The second flash
video shows the eardrum that vibrates as the acoustic energy (sound) hits it, transforming the acoustic
energy into mechanical energy. The third flash video shows the middle part of the ear, housing the
Ossicular Chain (incus, malleus, and stapes) that moves as the mechanical energy is transferred to the
chain from the vibration of the eardrum. The movement of stapes (last bone in the chain) causes the
round window to move. The fourth flash video models the transfer of the mechanical energy into
hydraulic energy within the cochlea as the round window vibrates with the stapes (from the Ossicular
Chain). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Cheer Should Be Changed
Short skirts, loud voices, air heady personalities, and tons of energy is the typical definition of
cheerleaders that most people have in the world today. Along with being the blondes of the school,
cheerleaders are also seen as wanna be athletes (Thomas). This comes from a long line of stereotypical
people who may not know what cheer is exactly about. Although there are individuals who do not
agree with the change of cheer becoming a sport, many people s attitudes have developed over time.
Changing cheer to a sport should change with society s views on it. One problem that many people do
not realize is that all cheer teams are not on the same page. ...most teams participate in multiple
competitions throughout their year long season. Both high school and all star cheerleading teams are
given the chance to compete. Every year high school squads can participate in one of numerous
national championships... (Teen Link). The problem with this is that a few amount of cheer squads are
deciding to compete. Since not all are deciding to go farther than the sideline, cheerleaders across the
world are being held back by not being considered a sport. There are so many different views on why
or why not cheer should be changed from an activity to a sport. ... they fail to distinguish between
sideline cheerleaders and competitive ones. Sideline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even when cheer teams do not compete, the time put into cheering is a large amount. These girls are
high school or college students going to school, making grades, and cheering after school at football,
basketball, and even soccer games (Thomas). The amount of hours put in is more than anyone could
count. Adding together football and basketball season together is the cheer season if all a team does is
supporting on the sideline. More and more squads are adding competitions on top of that. This
concludes to a very long cheer

Events That Have Shaped America
Many events that occurred in the 1960s to late 1970s are important factors as to how Americans view
their country and society as they know it today. Events like the creation of the Internet in 1969, or the
assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, Watergate in 1973, and even the 26th Amendment in 1971
are very substantial to the formation of America and how they deal with certain situations ( 7.01
Timeline ). However, the most important factor that has shaped America is Martin Luther King Jr.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929, he was the son of Martin Luther King Sr.a Baptist
pastor there. Martin also attended Booker T. Washington High School and Morehouse College. Martin
Luther King Jr. is also most famous for his speech on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He just applied himself to his studies and worked his way up into a successful man. King had similar
upbringing just like other kids around him, the only difference was the occupations of his parentals.
His mother was a schoolteacher and his father was a Southern Baptist Minister, this did not leave him
with many advantages. ( Bio.com ). He must have struggled in other subjects and skills. No one was
perfect, even the pastor s son. Even though his education was influenced by religion, as well as how
he was raised, he decided at an early age to pursue a career in medicine or law. However, after
attending Morehouse College, he became determined to become a Minister like his father ( Martin
Luther ). Martin grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as thousands of other African American children.
He was just one out of thousands that could have made a difference. Every child goes through hard
times, and King was no exception.Once King decided to follow his father s footsteps and study to be a
Minister,he graduated Morehouse College in 1948 he applied to Crozer Theological Seminary.( Martin
Luther ). At this point in American History, not many African Americans had the finances to attend

Jnc s Six Subsections
The following section is broken into six subsections that will assess how each topic relates to JNC 6,
7, and 8. The subsections are organized into the following: algorithms, classification of hypertension,
lifestyle modifications, pharmacological treatment, and management of care. It is important to note
that JNC 6 and 7 have a greater correlation in format and the types of recommendations presented to
clinicians. Contrastingly JNC 8 varies in format, as well as the type of recommendations presented to
clinicians, therefore each of the subsections may not contain information on JNC 8.
Algorithms:
Algorithms are useful for clinicians because they provide a schematic visual that is presented in a
multistep model to help in the diagnosis and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The algorithm begins with an indication that is used for adults over the age of 18 and noted that
lifestyle interventions should be continued throughout management. Goal blood pressures are
separated by age and presence of chronic disease. The goal for patients over 60 is SBP 150 mmHg and
DBP 90 mmHg. The goal for patients under 60 is 140 mmHg and DBP 90 mmHg. Different goal
values are presented for patients with chronic conditions. Treatment with medication is categorized
by: general population nonblack, general population black, chronic conditions black, and chronic
condition all races. Based on the algorithm black patients should only be prescribed thiazide type
diuretics and/or calcium channel blockers. While non black patients can take all of the medications
listed in JNC 8 (thiazide type diuretics, ACEI, ARB, and/or CCB). If patient does not reach goal blood
pressure then three strategies are listed, along with lifestyle adherence. The algorithm also explains not
to use ACEI and ARB together. The final option for patients not at goal blood pressure includes
additional medications and/or referral to physician with an expertise in hypertension

Clemson Tiger-Personal Narrative
When I watch the iconic Clemson Moments video, chills rush through my body and goosebumps rise.
That could be me next year; experiencing those moments. Touring the campus in February, I got that
moment. It is the one that every high school senior has no words to describe when they have the
realization they have found their new home for the next chapter of their lives. I am by no means a
crier, but I teared up on my Clemson tour thinking I have found the place that is the fit for me. I can fit
in here I thought to myself. No more little Winchester, this is exactly where I want to be and exactly
where I belong. It is one of weirdest, yet most exciting feelings that I could be a Clemson Tiger;
spending four years through rigorous work and research

Katya Test Anxiety
Katya is a new freshman student who studies really hard to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
Because Katya needs to maintain a 3.0 grade point average or above for her scholarship, she
experiences severe anxiety before each exam and she worries that the amount of time she studied
before test is not enough to get an A. In order to maintain her scholarship for next semester, Katya
must do well on her chemistry exam this semester. Because of this, she had a panic attack while trying
to study for the chemistry exam and the test anxiety level increase tremendously. Test anxiety is a type
of Performance anxiety a feeling someone might have in a situation where performance really counts
or when the pressure s on to do well (Kidshealth.org). The reason why Katya experiences test anxiety
is because she puts too much pressure on herself and keeps thinking that she has to get the scholarship
for next semester and must do well on the exam.
I understand how stressful Katya feels when studies for the chemistry exam. During fall semester, I
took a Marine Biology class in campus. The lecture part of the class started at 7am to 8:30am and after
the lecture, we also have a lab section, which started at 8:30am to 11:00am every Monday and
Wednesday. This class started really early in the morning and sometimes it is really hard to get up
during the cold weather, so I missed a lot of the lecture sections. In order to maintain a 4.0 grade point
average of the semester, I

The Growth Of Eco Friendly And Reliable Methods For Our...
Introduction
During the course of human history, fungi has always been used as food and exploited to preserve and
ferment beverages and foods. By the twentieth century, we had learned to protect human health by
harnessing fung (immunosuppressive agents, anti cholesterol statins and antibiotics), while industries
made us of fungi to support large scale production of acids, biosurfactants and enzymes. In the 1980 s,
with the dawn of fresh nanotechnology, fungi had remained important by being able to synthesize
nanoparticles.
Nanoparticles or nanomaterials are materials including particles or constituents that are of nanoscale
proportions, or something that has been produced via nanotechnology. Biologically hazardous or
environmentally toxic reducing agents are normally associated in the nanoparticles chemical
synthesis. Today, the growth of eco friendly and reliable methods for the production of nanomaterials
is a vital facet of nanotechnology. One such approach that has shown potential beyond measure is
centred on the use of biological micro organisms, such as fungi for the biosynthesis of these
nanoparticles.
Fungi can invariably be used for the synthesizing of metallic nanoparticles from their salt, since fungi
contain enzymes and proteins as reducing agents. Should be cautious while handling them during
experiments, as some fungi are disease causing. Fungal biomass generally grows quicker than that of
bacteria in consistent conditions. While production of metal

Importance Of Personal Goals In Life
Since I was young, I knew exactly what I wanted to do in life, to be successful and happy. My whole
life, I have been surrounded by prosperous family members and family friends. Growing up around
these people, I came to acknowledge that they had a sense of stability and happiness about them
because they got to get up every morning and go to a job they love. However, what I admired most is
their success did not come easy, they worked hard to become the respected people they are today. This
assisted me in adapting three strong core values: personal growth, entrepreneurship, and respect.
Although I grew up with a successful family, I learned that success does not come easy. Nowadays,
people are led to believe they do not have to exert any effort to become successful, and they could just
lean on their family s prosperity. My family was raised in the middle to upper class, but they were all
parented to know they had to earn it themselves and that they had to work for what they want; they
couldn t turn to their family for assistance. Therefore, I was also raised with this view. This developed
my value of personal growth. One of my goals in life is to earn my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and
my Master of Business Administration. I strive to achieve these, knowing that the process will be
challenging. After graduating veterinary school with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, I plan to
become a vet. After approximately 10 years, I plan to go to Business school and earn my Master

and Authority of Scripture Of all the debates that have developed in the Christian world over the
centuries, the debate in regards to the infallibility and authority of scripture looms at the top of the list.
This is not simply a trivial matter of belief, but this is a key issue; what an individual believes in this
regard has the potential to either clarify or distort his or her view on the character, trustworthiness, and
supremacy of God. A person s stance on this issue, the infallibility and the authority of the written
Word of God, will determine and establish many of the boundaries of their faith in God. To truly be a
believer and follower of Christ requires that one place faith in, and believe that Christ was who He
said he was, and what He said he was. This belief also requires one to believe what He believed and
what He declared to be

The Construction Of The Parthenon In Athens, Greece
The Parthenon is located in Athens,Greece. It was constructed approximately in 447 BC and
completed around 432 BC as a temple dedicated to the Goddess Athena., which the original one was
destroyed in Persian Invasion of 480 BC. The Parthenon was used primarily as a treasury. In the sixth
century AD, it was converted into a Christian church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. During the
Ottoman conquest it became a Mosque which was around 1460 s. The Parthenon was partially
destroyed in 1687.
The architects were Iktinos and Kallikrates with a mention of Vitruv and dedicated to the Goddess
Athena Pallas or Parthenos (virgin). It s main function was to house the statues of Athena which were
made of gold and ivory by Phedias. The inner chamber was unusually large so it could house the
oversized statue of Athena. The greater width and length of the Parthenon features double decked
columns instead of walls. The back room sheltered Athena s treasure. ... Show more content on

Background Going Into The 1970 S
Background going into the 1970 s
Starting in the 1960 s under the Johnson administration, the United States created two economic
burdens based off the Vietnam War and President Johnson s Great Society. President Johnson s
spending on the Vietnam War and the Great Society had boosted economic growth to 4.9%, and
inflation to an alarming 4.7%. Going into the next presidency in 1968, during the start of the Nixon
administration, President Nixon made a number of questionable decisions that led to the mass inflation
crisis of the 1970 s. Stagflation got its name during the 1973 1975 recession. There were six quarters
of shrinking Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while inflation tripled in 1973, rising from 3.4% to
9.6%. It remained between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because under wage controls workers could no longer get raises, giving them less money to
buy goods and services, which as a result decreases demand. Businesses couldn t lower prices to boost
demand. Neither could they raise prices, even though the cost of their imported materials rose due to
inflation and import taxes. Since they couldn t lower wages, they reduced hiring and therefore
demand. Wage price controls created a recession in November of 1973. Nixon eliminated them in
April 1974, but the damage took its toll. There were three consecutive quarters of negative GDP
growth: 1974 Q3 3.8% ( 3.8%), Q4 1.6% ( 1.6%), 1975 Q1 4.7%( 4.7%). Unemployment reached a
peak of 9% in May 1975, two months after the recession technically ended.

  • 2. Arctic Like Biomes The Arctic like biomes has a very limited amount of plant and animal life compared to other biomes. These Arctic like biomes would include the Arctic of course, the Taiga, and the Tundra. They are very well known for its ridiculously cold and harsh climate and is important because it helps moderate our global climate. One example of an animal from these Arctic like biomes is the Mustela obsesipedetes. There is little doubt that creatures in these Arctic like biomes are perfectly adapted for life in the cold. In my personal opinion, I believe that the Mustela obsesipedetes is the most well adapted creature in the whole entire Animalia. The species is a member of the Mustela genus. The genus Mustela can be characterized by several, distinct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Mustela albus obesipedetes has adapted to its environment in many numerous ways such as it is at the top of the food chain in the Arctic, Tundra, and Taiga despite its appearance. An adaptation it has would be its light, snowy white coat of fur that can turn into a shade of brown. Over the course of the biome s harsh winters, it snows a tremendous amount, making everything white, icy, and snowy. In the winter, the Mustela albus obesipedetes fur is snowy white and turns brown as it transitions to the summer, blending into the environment. Another characteristic it has is its ability to keep warm against the jarring cold weather. The Mustela albus obesipedetes has insulated blubber, making it fat, but helps it keep cozy, warm, and active throughout its day. The diet of the Mustela albus obesipedetes primarily consists of meat, such as polar bears, wolves, eagles, foxes, and whatnot. Although these animals may seem impossible for this small, vulnerable creature to catch, the Mustela albus obesipedetes hunger and wanting of prey takes on another level of savage, ferociously defeating its opponent with all its features. • 3. The Lincoln Lawyer By Michael Connelly 1. Full Title, author s name, copyright date, and number of pages. 2. The Lincoln Lawyer is a 404 page crime fiction novel written by Michael Connelly, 2005. Criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller is presented with his latest client, Beverly Hills playboy, Louis Roulet. Roulet is accused of rape and murder but this does not trouble Haller; on the contrary, he revels in it because it means he is being offered a franchise case, or a case offering a huge payout. Naturally, Haller takes the offer but what is unique about this case is that for the first time ever, Haller thinks he may have an innocent client. This is very worrying as Haller s father once said There is no client as scary as an innocent man. As the case continues, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Haller meets Roulet for the first time in jail, the author lightly introduces the issue of jailhouse snitches. Although it is only a brief moment that Haller urges Roulet to stay quiet, it is an important moment that highlights an extremely common problem in today s jail system, which is that of eavesdroppers and the way they can further endanger their fellow criminals. Furthermore, Connelly excels at comparing the legal system to Haller s own philosophies. Much of the book revolves around the concept that the law is a machine, and that there are many gray areas. Haller uses all of the technicalities of the law in order to provide for the best defense of the client, and it is these technicalities or gray areas that is what makes the whole novel so believable. An example of this is when his investigator, Raul Levin, gives Haller a video of Roulet meeting the victim at the bar. Haller knows that he will have to turn it over to the prosecution in accordance with the rule of discovery, but at the same time, he uses it to his advantage because he didn t technically have to turn over anything until I was sure I planned to use it in trial (105). In today s legal system, there are countless instances of cases winning on technicalities or on very unspecific laws, so much that is clear to see how Haller s methods are constantly replicated in the real world. 5. Haller is initially a very unlikeable character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Military Planning For The First Time During World War II Since the Cold War, scholars utilizing a military and state centric approach to the study of regime security such as Paul Williams, Joseph Nye and Sean Lynn Jones, and Stephen Walt have made significant contributions to the literature on security studies. While these authors present unique viewpoints, they all tend share the perspective that major international conflict has been a key factor in the development of this field. Stephen Walt pointed out that the idea of security studies first emerged as a result of civilians becom[ing] extensively involved in military planning for the first time during World War II. This surge in civilian interest during the war led to an era of security studies known as the Golden Age during which Paul Williams indicated that civilian strategists enjoyed relatively close connections with Western governments and their foreign and security policies. The enthusiasm for this area of study was maintained for a substantial amount of time due to what Joseph Nye called the unprecedented nature of security problems confronting the United States , which were mostly brought about by the advent of the atomic age. Several forces however, would eventually counteract the uptick in interest; principle among them was the negative perception of the Vietnam War. Walt highlighted this idea stating the debacle in Indochina ... made the study of security affairs unfashionable in many universities. Fortunately for the progression of the field, this ... A common occurence recently, has been researchers and archeologists wondering what the next best technology is going to be. In order to bring answers to this question, many new technologies are being developed. Some examples of such are, the Mailbox tool, Dropsonde Sensor, and the Infrared Satellite. In my opinion, these are three main reasons attributing to Euro Disney fail. Firstly, the lack of prior market research and study for European lifestyle and cultural before European Disney built. Euro Disney chose to spend excessive expenditures on the establishment, but Euro Disney did not recognize the geographic and cultural differences between Europeans and Americans. Could a better reading of the impact of cultural differences on revenues have been achieved? Culture difference will influence the number of tourists and the acceptance level of customers. Euro Disney followed the brand policies to the English instructions only, no wine providing in the theme park, high price of ticket, and standardized merchandise and food items, consequently wide spread dissatisfaction among the customers. When a new brand enters different cultures, it is inevitable for customers in new market to repel it or spend much time to accept it,so the new brand should be brought closer to local culture by providing a platform to interact with the brand in customer s terms. Also culture different will bring different consumption patterns, Europeans are likely to spend reasonable price on entertainment, so the price of Euro Disney will be too high to accept and decrease the number of tourists in Euro Disney. Different culture has different drinking and eating habits,Euro Disney forbad drinking wine in lunch time, but most French like to drink wine when they enjoy their meal. As we moved on history, depending on the period of time that we find ourselves in, a particular sport would be important as people relate their lives into it. Mandelbaum focus on three different sports and three different time periods, to show us their relationship. He states that, sports come to play an important role in our lives as we are able relate and find a significance that represent and fits our lives. This is the explanation Mandelbaum reaches when we tries to explain why Americans had become ardent fans of sports. The three major American sports that Mandelbaum focus on are baseball, football and basketball. This sports had been chosen for America because they embody three major stages in American culture. Baseball represents the agrarian period, football the industrial revolution and basketball the new innovative and modern society. Mandelbaum dedicates a complete chapter for each of the three sports. In each chapter he explains the history, rules and culture as references to demonstrate the importance of each sport to the past as well as the message they give to their fans. • 10. Analysis Of The Novel Nervous Conditions In the novel Nervous Conditions, Tsitsi Dangarembga explores the concepts of power and oppression. Speaking up about oppression can liberate a person, so the people in charge do not want the oppressed to speak up. In Nervous Conditions, males have much more dominance in life than females. Maiguru, Nyasha, and Lucia all attempt to stand up for themselves against oppression, with little success. Dangarembga develops the characters Maiguru, Nyasha, and Lucia in order to convey how speaking out against oppression is necessary but not sufficient to gain power. Nyasha vocally resists when she feels oppressed because she refuses to accept being controlled. However, as a child, she must defer to her parents whether she likes it or not. Early in the novel, Maiguru questions if Nyasha should read Lady Chatterly s Lover, a book that contains many Western themes and ideals, because that s not very good...[she doesn t] want [her] to read books like that . Nyasha retorts, What s all the fuss about anyway? It s only a book and I m only reading it (75). The controversy of Lady Chatterly s Lover causes Maiguru to label it as not very good . Italics place extra emphasis on the words book and reading , because these two words are associated with gaining knowledge, and therefore gaining power. However, while The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle both include characters that exemplify sadism, the novels differ greatly in the characters portrayals due to the sadistic characters gender. The sadistic Moreau is presented as Machiavellian tyrant. However, because Moreau s gender aligns with ideas of gendered sadism, the novel does not portray him as degenerate, monstrous, nor ambiguous. According to Aristotle, humans seek happiness (4). If anything promises happiness, then human will go in the direction it leads. Aristotle was also just as interested in other areas such as virtue. Individual civic virtues is connected to a world made up of a number of elements such as understanding individual importance the community, and seeking to serve one s community. Without a sense of civic duty, individuals would be lost and would not know how to interrelate with other members of their community. Civic virtue is more than just acknowledging that the word is made up of more than one individual, it is accepting that one is not alone, and thus one needs to think of others when doing anything. Civic virtue is composed of various elements. One such element is participation. In order to be virtuous civically, one has to actively participate in social activities. Taking part means contributing one s skills, expertise and thoughts on matters that are socially acceptable. Any community requires active participation of all its members, which is something that is really not seen today. Another element of civic virtue is trustworthiness. Citizens, in addition to being actively involved in what is happening in their respective societies should be able to be trusted. This is because participation sometimes being involved means being accorded responsibility of communal assets. They should be wasted, and they should not be used for individual gain. This is important because sometimes people misuse things given to them by their communities, and forget that they are not alone. This may lead to corruptive practices. Competition between Emerging Market and Multinational Firms: Wal Mart and Mexican Retailers Dante Di Gregorio, Douglas E Thomas, Fernán González de Castilla. International Journal of Management. Poole: Sep 2008. Vol. 25, Iss. 3; pg. 532, 15 pgs Abstract (Summary) We analyze how competitive dynamics within the Mexican retail sector have shifted following the entrance and ascendance of Wal Mart, and how Mexican retailers have responded individually and collectively to Wal Mart s dominance. We discuss implications for strategic management and international business research as well as for managers of emerging market firms that face dominant foreign competitors. Within fifteen years of entering Mexico, Wal Mart has become the dominant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To analyze these competitive interactions, we draw on the competitive dynamics stream of research within strategic management (e.g., Grimm Smith, 1997; Smith, Ferrier Ndofor, 2001; Ketchen, Snow Hoover, 2004). We show how competitive dynamics have evolved in the Mexican retail industry following the entrance and dominance of Wal Mart. We conclude with a discussion of the implications for both theory and practice. 1. Competitive Dynamics between Dominant Multinationals and Emerging Market Firms Emerging economies are generally characterized by a rapid pace of economic growth, increasing liberalization of trade and investment regimes, and economic restructuring (Hoskisson et al, 2000). Mexico, for instance, maintained high trade barriers and imposed strict limitations on foreign investment through the mid 1980s. From the point at which Mexico joined the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in 1986 through the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and the United States in 1994 and a broad range of similar agreements with other countries, Mexican firms became increasingly exposed to competitive pressures from foreign firms in the form of imported products as well as foreign owned operations in Mexico. In this respect, the Mexican experience is similar to that of emerging economies throughout Latin America (which also moved away from import substitution industrialization toward a more ... • 16. Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol 1. The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC is the binding/ruling international law on children s rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication. States that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus superseding the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only age that could be agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the minimum age; however, the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and decided that age eighteen should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional Protocol on the sale of children expands on the CRC s stance on the exploitation of children. The Optional Protocol made specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as prostitution and pornography. It outlines the measures that States should take in protecting children rom sexual exploitation. The Optional Protocol on communication is fairly new and it recognizes children s rights to bring grievances on the violation of their rights to the committee. It also outlines ways that States and governments can help children submit their claims. 2a. Haiti reported that street children in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Becoming A Knights Essay The knights were the third level of feudal society in Europe. Knights were usually vassals who paid protection and loyalty to their lords in return for land. They were warriors in armor who fought on horseback and had to have a good deal of wealth in order to afford a full suit of armor and a horse. Knights wore coats of armor made from metal links called mail and carried swords and shields. A knight s tactic when fighting in war was that he would charge at his enemies then spear them with his lance. During the time period of AD 700s to AD 1200s, the knights were the most powerful soldiers in Europe. Becoming a knight in Europe was a very tough task that started at a very young age. Introduction During the course of human history, fungi has always been used as food and exploited to preserve and ferment beverages and foods. By the twentieth century, we had learned to protect human health by harnessing fung (immunosuppressive agents, anti cholesterol statins and antibiotics), while industries made us of fungi to support large scale production of acids, biosurfactants and enzymes. In the 1980 s, with the dawn of fresh nanotechnology, fungi had remained important by being able to synthesize nanoparticles. Nanoparticles or nanomaterials are materials including particles or constituents that are of nanoscale proportions, or something that has been produced via nanotechnology. Biologically hazardous or environmentally toxic reducing agents are normally associated in the nanoparticles chemical synthesis. Today, the growth of eco friendly and reliable methods for the production of nanomaterials is a vital facet of nanotechnology. One such approach that has shown potential beyond measure is centred on the use of biological micro organisms, such as fungi for the biosynthesis of these nanoparticles. Fungi can invariably be used for the synthesizing of metallic nanoparticles from their salt, since fungi contain enzymes and proteins as reducing agents. Should be cautious while handling them during experiments, as some fungi are disease causing. Fungal biomass generally grows quicker than that of bacteria in consistent conditions.
