Analysis Of Mark Twain s Advice To Youth
In Mark Twain s, Advice to Youth, Twain educates the younger generations by providing his
viewpoint of how people of their age should conduct themselves ranging from simple words of
wisdom to instructions on how to interact with others in order to sculpt a generation more
knowledgeable and intelligent than his own. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote, Joint
Address to Congress Leading to a Declaration of War Against Japan, he announced that resulting from
provocations from Japan, it was mandatory that the United States of America retaliated by engaging in
a war against Japan in order to protect the American citizens. In her essay titled, A New Egalitarian
Life Style, Gloria Steinem insists that women and black citizens have been treated inadequately
starting from when the patriarchy began to reign in order to urge people to strive for equality across
the board. However, in Of the Coming of John by W.E.B. Du Bois, the author relates an experience of
a black man who had received higher education and as a result could no longer live in complacency
with his lower status in society in order to urge the African Americans of the time period to go to
college and receive education themselves.
This quote appears within the introductory section of the novel when Lane, one of the central
characters, must move to a hospital that doubles as a boarding school to receive treatment for his drug
resistant case of tuberculosis. He had just seen Sadie, a girl who he used to go

Animal And Non Infectious Diseases
Until the last half of the 20th century, the emphasis of veterinary medicine had been on the treatment
of individual animals with clearly identifiable diseases or defects. Apart from immunization against
rabies and prophylactic treatment of internal parasites, restricted attention had been given to animal
health and comprehensive preventive medicine, which give proper consideration to both infectious
and non infectious diseases.
Currently, the nature of traditional clinical practice is changing in all developing and developed
countries. The pet owners are better educated, and the value of individual animals relative to
veterinary fees has decreased. It is imperative to develop pet animal health programmes designed to
prevent infectious diseases, rather than just dispensing traditional treatment to clinically sick animals.
Due to the vast demographic changes in India, pet animal populations have increased above 10
millions within 2002 2012. Thus as a part of pet animal welfare, preventive measures for infectious
diseases like vaccination against parvoviral enteritis, canine distemper, leptospirosis, infectious canine
hepatitis, parainfluenza, kennel cough etc; deworming schedule for parasitic diseases like
ancylostomiosis, toxocarosis etc; grooming practices to avoid skin problems and ectoparasites for
control of hemoprotozoan diseases like babesiosis, ehrlichiosis etc.; hygenic measures are to be
carried out which is now practiced up to an extend in cities but rare in rural

Doctor Prescriptions
ortunately for pharmaceutical companies, the United States government has not done nearly enough to
regulate the companies. Pharmaceutical companies are able to spend millions of dollars on marketing,
and not only on the cheesy direct to consumer ads we see ending with ask your doctor . The drugs that
these companies make are not a standard item on the market; one needs permission to obtain drugs.
Pharmaceutical companies understand this, so they spend a majority of their marketing funds on
advertising to health care providers. In 2012, of the $27 million the industry spent on marketing, $24
million was for doctors (Pew Charitable Trusts). Aside from the skewed proportions in marketing fund
division, 9 out of 10 pharmaceutical companies spent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As previously stated, the actions on the industry do sway a doctor s prescriptions. Many problems
arise from this, namely the fact of expense and health. According to the FDA, generic brand drugs can
be 80% more expensive than their name brand counterpart. The FDA also mandates that each must be
bioequivalent. The doctors prescription could cost 80% more because of the influence of drug
companies. Another factor of this marketing is known as going off label , or drugs being pushed for
symptoms they weren t made for. This is part of the reason opioids have caused the United States
heroin outbreak. Drug companies designed extreme pain killers, meant for terminal illnesses. That isn
t a large market, so companies began pushing doctors to prescribe them for more and more cases. This
is also on the rise with antidepressants and anxiety medication. Pharmaceutical companies over
advertising their drug is dangerous and has resulted in lawsuits for almost every major drug company.
Famously, the English drug company GSK paid $3 billion in a lawsuit for over prescribing their
antidepressant, Paxil (New York Times). Pfizer, Johnson Johnson, Abbott, and Eli Lilly have all paid
at least $1 billion for pushing off label prescriptions. However, many people support this entire
practice because of the free market, and that companies have the right to advertise. While the free
market is an integral part of Western culture, drugs are not just some product. Prescription drugs are
tablets of complex chemistry backed by scientific research and approved of personal use by someone
who has been to higher education for nearly twelve years. For example, sodas are an item on the free
market. Coke and Pepsi have a right to advertise and try to create the better soda. They may convince
someone to change brand loyalty, and there s little to no consequence. Drugs have life changing, or
life ending, potential and complex

Dantes Inferno Research Paper
Dante Alighieri born on June 1, 1265 in Florence, Italy. Dante is a Italian poet and philosopher. He
was born in a family that was a part of the political scene in Florence. His mother died a few years
after he was born. He went to study at the University of Bologna which was one of the most famous
universities in the medieval world. While he was there, one of the most famous scholars at that
advised and encouraged Dante. His name was Brunetto Latini. He appears in Inferno. Only at twelve
years old, Dante was to marry a girl named Gemma Donati. They both married but what the problem
was that Dante loved another woman. Her name was Beatrice Portinari. Dante s father was very

He has been compared to the most famous poet ever, Shakespeare. He has been said to be the only
writer to be in the same class as him. Some people believe that Dante s Divine Comedy is better than
some of Shakespeare s work. Dante s Divine Comedy is still one of the best works of literature after
650 years. The work of art is a major part of The Western Canon. The Western Canon is a collection of
the greatest books in history.
Dante died in 1321 while traveling to Venice. What most people think was that he caught a disease
like malaria because this was spreading throughout the medieval ages. He was buried in the Church of
San Pier in Ravenna, Italy. Soon after he was buried, Florence argued that the poet s body should
return to the city that he was born in. Today, Dante s body is in Ravenna even though Florence stills
argues that he should be in the city that he was

Cougar Visa Case
Cougar Visa: Developing a Means End Chain for a Credit Card
A) Using the data provided, perform a means ends analysis.
During this case study, we can see that the current state the following: there are an increasing number
of competitors in the credit industry. More and more companies enter this industry, making even more
difficult for the bank to compete and gain more customers shares. So, we ve perform a means end
analysis of the situation in order to get the maximum information for them improve their services and
be more efficient. The goal of this means end analysis was to find a way to differentiate from the
others by any means. But the first step of it was to find out what s important for the customers when
we re talking a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We could conclude from that analysis that this means end chain helped us to define a bit more what a
credit card customer is expecting when making the decision to go for a company more than another. If
we have that in mind, then it s much more easier to differentiate the company from the competition
and as a results try to gain market shares.
B) What segments have been neglected?
After having a look at the whole document, and after having analyzed the means end chain, we could
say that some segments have been neglected. Indeed, we talk about all the added value option that we
could actually encounter in a credit card but there isn t any research or data on that. Like what kind of
option are the most wanted (insurance? travellers checks ? no international fees ? etc...). Furthermore,
we could see that we lack some information about the link between the attributes and the benefices.
Indeed, we have then both but we don t really know the relation between them, which makes it more
difficult to do the means end chain.
C) What changes, if any, in the product positioning might be recommended based on the attribute
desired? Do you need additional information?
When you see table 2, you could retrieve the information about what s most important for the
customers when we are talking about a credit card. Then, we have the

Trifles Play Comparison
Trifles Comparison The audio and visual representations of Trifles captured the main aspects the play.
During the first scene, Glaspell establishes the plot, setting, and characters. As a result, the first scene,
which presents the murder of John, Mrs. Wright husband, is a vital aspect of the play. The first scene
begins with the Sheriff, George Henderson, who is the attorney, Lewis and Martha Hale, and the
Sheriff s wife. All the characters are gathered in Mrs. Wright s living room discussing the murder and
the events leading up to the murder. All in all, the audio and visual plays remained true to the original
written version, captured the emotion, and lived up to my expectations, but they both contained
similarities and differences. First ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Personally, the audio play lived up to my expectations more so than the visual play. While the visual
play was excellent and followed the play well, the setting seemed undone. For example, the kitchen
appliances were white, which didn t seem appropriate for an old farm house. Also, the attire was
underdone as well. The Sheriff didn t have an official uniform on and the attire didn t appear period
correct. On the other hand, the audio play provided the voiceover, which allows the reader to visualize
the play on their own. Secondly, I feel the visual played provided more emotional appeal. Mainly, the
emotional appeal came from the actors facial expressions and body language. Unfortunately, it s not
possible to obtain the same effect through an audio recording. Third of all, the audio recording
provided sound effects as opposed to a physical setting. For example, instead the rocking chair being
shown, the audio provided the sound of a rocking chair. Another example, instead of showing the
dishes like the visual play, the audio recording provided sounds of dishes being moved around in a
sink. Overall, the audio recording captured the author s intent the

College Sports Transition
With every beginning to an individual s sports career, there has to be an end. Most player s careers end
after their four years of playing a high school sport. Although many high school players want the
opportunity to play sports in college, most are unaware of the increased workload required to play a
college sport.
When a high school player thinks about continuing their career to play college sports they often
imagine the transition into college as being uncomplicated. Once an athlete begins their career into
college they are shocked to find out the transition is far more complicated than they anticipated. One
reason why this transition into college sports is more difficult is because of talent. For example, an
athlete with a greater talent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An athlete must realize that he or she is expected to perform just as well in academics as they do in
athletics. Many athletes do not consider the struggle of juggling a college sport and taking classes full
time. Although it is important for the athlete to do their best in sports, it is also important to keep a
good GPA and focus on school. Many coaches push this because without having a 2.3 GPA an athlete
cannot play. While the players are going from only playing the sport for a few months out of the year
to playing it year round, athletes struggle to find the time in their schedules to balance academics and
athletics. Another negative effect for an athlete transitioning from high school to college is being away
from home. This effects the athlete tremendously because this is often the first time an athlete has to
experience what it is like to be away from their family. Because college sports require more input
from the athlete than it did in high school, the athlete has to spend more time at college working to
improve in their sport. Due to the extra work that has to be put in to the sport, the athlete does not get
to go home on the weekends often. As a result, an athlete should consider the negative effects that the

The World Anti Doping Agency
With the 2016 Summer Olympics just around the corner our media is capturing both positive
accomplishments and negative behavior about the potential Olympic athletes and telling us everything
we didn t want to know. Doping is always a highlighted issue and we in America are familiar with it in
our high profile sports culture such as NFL, NBA, and MLB but it is not just in our homeland culture.
It has been internationally affecting the Olympics since its inception in 776 393BC and modern day
resurrection in Athens, Greece in 1896. The Olympic Committee established a doping committee for
regulation, the WADA, the world anti doping agency, with the increase of enhancement drug use by
the athletes. The World Anti Doping Agency s (WADA) mission is to lead a collaborative worldwide
campaign for a doping free sport.(list) Is the answer for athletes to just say no or should we really be
looking beyond the drug. The Olympic motto of Faster, Higher, Stronger may have added new
meaning to it with at all costs, just do it . If we look at our own American culture, War on Drugs ,
starting under Richard Nixon in 1971, we have not seen great strides in this being the cure. I believe
this issue is rooted not just in testing but in the basic human value of individuals from any country,
culture, or gender. To have a governing board to seek out and banish the drug using athletes is not
going to decrease numbers in hopes of upholding the foundation of this Olympic Athletic culture that

The Dun Cow Essay
In the book of the dun cow, Wangerin uses the carton characteristics of Old Yeller, Robin from
batman, and Clifford the big red dog. With all these characteristics combined you acquire the ultimate
copy of Mundo Cani.
At the begin of the Dun Cow Mundo Cani had no exact introduction. There was no specific time, or
place that he arrived from, no owner. He was just there, and moing louder than ever MAROOONED
(17). In this very first chapter of the book, you can conclude that this whining dog may in fact change
the whole story. Wangerin gives Mundo cani this sense that he is like a piece of gum stuck to your
shoe, almost impossible to get rid of no matter what you do. On multiple accounts Chauntecleer tells
the dog to scram, beat it, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By proving his worth to the farm chanticleer lets him stay, and does not expect any more from him.
But that s not the case in this story; Cani goes above and beyond and helps more and more each day.
Mundo Cani had a talent nobody would have suspected: He could run like any horse at full gallop
(60). Robin on the other hand, tries time after time to prove to batman that he should not be labeled as
the sidekick. That he should be the main hero to. Never the less Robin does help batman in more ways
than none, and is grateful for all that batman does for him. Robin just wants to have a bigger title.
Clifford the big red dog is a fan favorite. Clifford is, obviously, this big red dog who loves, is gentle,
clumsy, well meaning and helpful. Even though Clifford is this huge dog and stands out, he beats to
his own drum and does not care what people think of him.
When all these horrible things that goes on in the farm you don t hear as much from Mundo Cani as
you would think. He kind of just does his own thing. When Wyrm and Cocatrice come and attack Cani
helps fight them off and protect Pertelo. But he does not have a set schedule of things that he does. He
like Clifford does what he pleases. He is also well meaning and

Biography profile for Pablo Picasso
Pablo Ruiz Picasso the man was a troubled, eccentric, problematic man who could never settle down
with a woman or a place of residency, maybe what we could call a free spirit . Picasso, the man, was
also an activist. He fought for peace until his last days. However, no matter how much troubled
Picasso, the man was overshadowed by his own art. In addition, even though one might not like his
works, one cannot deny that without Picasso, modern art and the world would be much poorer, so that
is why I decided to write about one of my favorite artists of all times, the unique Pablo Picasso.

His first oil painting, which he kept his whole life, was called El Picador , a common theme in the
bullfight scene. Picasso was focuses in his painting by using the subject of pigeons and bullfights.
In 1896, his first large oil painting The first Communion was exhibited in Barcelona. The year after,
he painted Science and Charity and received an honorable mention in Madrid at the national
exhibition of fine art and a gold medal in a competition in Malaga. It is important to note that at that
point he was only 16 years old. His visits to museums became very important in this first period of his
career, because like many other modern artists, Picasso had his classicism period when he tried to
imitate the style of the old masters. He also met someone who would become one of his best friends
and his secretary, the poet Sabartes. The new atmosphere made the young artist abandon his classic
style and start a period of searching and encountering new experiences in his career.
During this period, Picasso expressed his idea that an art student should not be obligated to follow any
already established school, but should be free to explore his or her own styles and ideas. This search
for change caused deterioration in his relationship with his parents who could not accept his interest in
modern art.
In 1900, during this search period, Picasso moved to the city that was the major artistic center, Paris,

Teenage Curfew Essay
Having a teenage curfew is ineffective and useless. Many people argue that the curfews are necessary
because it will keep young people out of trouble. They also say that teenagers are more likely to get in
trouble late than they would during daylight. Teens are looked at as the age group that causes the most
trouble, and society targets them when it comes to matter for crime, however many people believe that
teens are responsible for a large percentage of crimes and that having a curfew in effect will help
lower crime rates. I disagree with this because I don t think teenagers should be forced to follow a
ridged time schedule because of a curfew. Juvenile crime is a major problem in today s society,

Teen curfews discriminate against young minorities and violate the rights of minors, also I think that
teen curfews confine all young teens based on actions of a small percentage of our population.
Curfews are often needed to prevent teens from getting into trouble late at night and many people
argue if parents should be held responsible for this. I understand many parents set up rules and other
restrictions for their teens to follow, but I don t think parents should take the liability on what their
child is doing. These rules are usually given in addition to control, protect, and teach their teen in
order for them to know what s right from wrong. In other states, parents are held responsible for their
child s actions. If they let their children out past midnight, they could be fined up to $75 for the first
offense. The only way minors could stay out after midnight is if they are accompanied by a parent or
guardian over twenty one years old. Many public places such as the mall have banned children from
hanging out after a certain time and I think the problem with this is where will it send the children.? If
they can t go to the mall to hangout they are going to end up in a abounded place or basement
somewhere drinking because there is nothing else to do. Although, other people view

Eight Benefits Of Repercussions
Many of the benefits of contacts are well known, the most obvious being that you can correct your
vision without the encumbrances of wearing glasses. With improvements in the styling and design of
glasses, they aren t the encumbrances they were in the past. This is especially true of high prescription
glasses, which used to be limited to thick coke bottle lenses. These not only distort your facial
appearance but are very heavy. On the other hand, modern high index lenses are thin and lightweight.
They are stylish when used with the right frame. However, contacts are generally best when you re

Nintendo s Disruptive Strategy
Nintendo Disruptive Strategy Video game industry is synonymous with names like Sony, Microsoft,
and Nintendo. A number of changes have been witnessed in the video game industry with respect to
competition and technology. Atari, a U.S. based company, and Namco from Japan are some of the
undisputed initial players in the video game industry. They literally brought the video games to
teenagers who accessed them in the shopping malls and video games arcades. Home consoles however
made it possible for video game lovers to play video games within the confines of their homes. The
introduction of personal computers in the 80s nearly revolutionized the video game industry. However,
the introduction of personal computers had no significant impact on the video game industry as the
proprietors still achieved steady growth. Video game consoles client base was kind of confined to
teenagers. Sony managed to penetrate the video gaming market save for their insightful targeting and
positioning, image conscious branding, and super graphic technologies. These made PS very popular
in the mid 90s. In fact, the entry of Sony into the video gaming market spelt some doom to video
game consoles because they captured new players. The industry subsequently grew substantially.
Video gaming became the ultimate entertainment especially among the young adults who had
disposable incomes (Farhoomand, 2009). When SONY launched PS2 in 2000, Microsoft felt that it

The Trojan Women ( 1971 )
The movie The Trojan Women (1971) is a successful and compelling contemporary adaption of the
tragedy The Trojan Women, written by Euripides. Overall, the film follows the whole plot very well
and depicts the main characters of Euripides work expressly, especially characters like Cassandra,
Andromache, and Helen. Although the director of the film has made a few slight alterations, audience
can feel Trojan women s grief and pain and comprehend the plot with no trouble.
The film and the ancient play have some minor disparities. First, in the beginning, the play starts with
the conversation between Poseidon and Athena. Poseidon describes the aftermath of the war and the
bleak scene, giving out a background story. Then, Athena has changed her mind and switched to the
Trojan side. In contract, there is no god involved and appeared in the movie. Poseidon s and Athena s
role is taken by a narrator. The scene of women being pushed is enough to show to the audience the
background. Second, the chorus only sings once in the film, mostly just speaking, while the chorus in
the play sings in between every act. The chorus is used to switch to the next act and to tell the
background. However, the film is quite fluent without excess singings of the chorus, because the
movie is easy to change the location, time, and setting smoothly. Small changes like these two parts do
not affect the big picture.
Instead of these small changes, characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen in the film,

Multicultural Nursing Care Essay
Multicultural Assignment
Transcultural nursing care knowledge is essential to provide culturally congruent nursing care to
patients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds (Hood, 2014). An important element of holistic
nursing care is the incorporation of sensitive cultural practices that meet the patients and their families
needs alike. For this assignment, I have chosen to research Japanese cultural health practices and their
relevance to nursing care.
The Japanese culture places high value in respect, family structure, ancestry, religious and spiritual
beliefs, and health care practices. The two main religious practices in Japan are Buddhism and Shinto.
As Tanabe (2010) explains, Shinto practices emphasizes cleanliness and purity and that spirit gods
kami live among the elements of nature, in earthly natural forms like mountains, rivers, trees, and
others. Japanese medicinal practice Kampo, which has roots in Chinese medicine (CM) was greatly

care. In addition, Kampo practices focus on obtaining harmony between the individual and its
environment by restor[ing] or enhance[ing] flows of ki (energy of spirit) (Culture of Japan, 2016, p.

Astrology Of Alchemy
Originating in ancient Egypt, Alchemy is one of the two oldest sciences that are known in the world,
besides astrology. It can be described as a process in which we shift from our essential state of
unconsciousness, go through plenty alchemical stages portrayed by our most elemental experiences, to
the understanding of full awakening, or enlightenment. Alchemy is a an operation that goes around
from cycle to cycle, repeating over and over again to transform and alter us through the experiences of
our body, soul, and spirit. In alchemical terminology, this is called the Opus, or Great Work. The larger

Western Alchemy goes all the way back to the start of the Hellenistic period which lasted between 300
BC 300 AD. One of the earliest, legit alchemists is Zosimos of Panopolis in Egypt, who lived around
the end of the period. Zosimos provided us with one of the first definitions of alchemy as the study of
the composition of waters, movement, growth, embodying and disembodying, drawing the spirits from
the bodies and bonding the spirits within the bodies. (Mendeleyev s Dream the Quest for Elements).
Born in Akhmim,Egypt, Zosimos is one of the 40 authors represented in a compendium of alchemical
texts that were thought to be put together in Constantinople around the 7th or 8th century AD. They
were found existing in manuscripts in Venice and Paris. The latest author, Synesius, lived in
Byzantium (constantinople) around the 4th century. The earliest author assigned is Pseudo

Pros And Cons Of Securitization
INTRODUCTION
Financial transactions are very common in today s world. In these types of transactions, security must
be created. These creations of securities are known as securitization. Security is a financial claim
which is exhibited by document. The main feature of securitization is marketability. Henceforth,
securitization is creation of marketable and tradable securities which is hinged on the inflows and
outflows (cash flows) of the assets and liabilities of an individual. Cash flows refer to those generated
in the asset side of the balance sheet mainly receivables; cash in bank and hand, plant and machinery.
The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) uses these cash flows to issue marketable securities to investors so
that funds for the payment to the asset originator can be arranged. Securitization is an innovation in
the financial markets. For innovative financing sources, exceeding individual s cash flow status,
acquiring better liquidity position and issuing new securities to new individuals or group of investors,
these innovative financing sources have become a necessity. For mortgage financing in secondary
markets, securitized instruments are also essential. An asset is eliminated from the balance sheet when
it is securitized.

most innovative form of asset financing. The profiling as well as the placement of different risks and
rights of a receivable with most efficient owners is one of the most important impacts of

Wild At Heart Analysis
The 1990 film, Wild at Heart directed by David Lynch, is a violent satire on the power struggle of a
working class criminal and his girlfriend who are fighting against the girlfriend s evil psycho mother
who wants him dead because the mother is controlling and jealous of her daughter s sexuality and
youth. The film follows young rebellious lovers, Sailor and Luna who seek to run away from the
craziness of their worlds to live a fantasy but end up finding the violent reality of America. Lula s
mom, Marietta causes them to face obstacles within their relationship by trying to get Sailor killed
twice. These young lovers decide to run from their problems and go on a road trip to California, on
their way they make stops in New Orleans and Texas. Throughout the film there are concepts and
terms of the comic spirit that are showcased throughout the film such as parody, bragger male
archetype, euphemisms, contamination, disguise, parabasis, and inversion. The films main character
Sailor, is a parody of Elvis. Sailor is a hyper masculine character, with a manic energy, and vocal
mannerisms like Elvis Presley. The parody of Elvis not only is shown through Sailors vocal
mannerism but also in the film we see examples of parabasis where Sailor stops the band playing and
begins to sing Love Me by Elvis to Lula. During this scene, while Sailor is singing we hear girls
screaming in admiration as if Elvis was actually the one singing. The girls that surround Sailor while

The Dramatic Impact of The Witches in William...
The Dramatic Impact of The Witches in William Shakespeare s Macbeth Witchcraft in the 17th
centaury was frowned upon by the church as a result witches were feared and loathed in the
community. Many people thought that they were directly connected to Lucifer (the devil). Their
evidence of this was that the devils familiars came up from hell and drank the witches blood from
devil spots (moles or birthmarks), in return for this blood he would grant them special powers such as
the ability to fly, foul crops or kill at a glance. As a result of this propaganda created by the church
thousands of innocent people were tried as witches and burnt at the stake. To be in a 17th centaury

Each witch responds almost instantly as if continuing the sentence like one being. This crates the
atmosphere of a spell or a chant. This enables them to see past the present in to the future such as
when they say when the battles lost and won , this suggests that they already know the outcome they
know more than you. The witches also speak of some very unusual things that suggests that they are
not normal. One of the oddest things they say is Hover through the fog and filthy air giving you the
impression that they can fly. They also chant fair is foul and foul is fair , which would make it appear
that they have a warped perception of reality what you would perceive as foul they would perceive as
fair meaning that they can bend the rules a little. This draws you in because you want to know what
mischief they can create. In the production that I saw I thought that they carried out this very well with
fantastic lighting and sound affects. The witches were dressed in simple black robes and rags, but
while reciting there lines there was a battle going on behind them with men falling in all directions
which provides a feeling of confusion and that they have more power then the men fighting. I thought
that this was brilliant because it gave the beginning of the production a real dramatic exciting start to
the play.

Historical Leader Synthesis Essay On Sir Winston Churchill
Historical Leader Synthesis Essay on Sir Winston Churchill
Soaked in sweat, I ran to the library to get a book on a historical leader before they were all gone. I
would like to think I found a great leader, but I think one found me. As I was reading a book on great
leaders of World War II, I initially focused on American leaders, but Sir Winston S. Churchill seemed
fit my exact requirements. Sir Winston S. Churchill was a Visionary and Ethical Leader. In the
following pages, I will explain how Winston was a visionary leader and how he used Inspirational
Motivation and global diversity to gain advantage during World War II. I will also explain how he
critically thought through a gut wrenching decision by using Dr. Toner s three Ps in the ... Show more

In Harmon s (1991) article, he details a scene where Sir Winston Churchill is sitting around the
strategy table, debating the benefits of area bombing. Area bombing is a tactic where an area is
indiscriminately bombed, regardless of military objective. During the meeting Winston stood up and
proclaimed, Are we beasts, are we taking this too far (Harmon, 1991, p. 3). LM03, Ethical Leadership,
discusses Dr. Toner s three P s, which are principle, purpose, and people (DAF, 2014c, p. 7). To me,
Winston Churchill put the three P s in the correct order when he decided to commence area bombings.
He put the principle of freedom and justice before the purpose of winning the war and finally, he put
the people in their proper place of third. Had he not made this decision, who knows how many more
would have died. The air raids killed innocent women and children, but many others today enjoy
freedom and liberty because of this decision. The war continued and as the German people became
war weary, ended in 1945 due, in part, to Churchill s proper use of the three P s. Making a decision
like this takes guts, resolve, and most importantly an ability to see the second and third order effects.
Winston Churchill would not have made the decision to area bomb had he not known that its effect on
the German people would cause them to lose their will to fight, therefore limiting the endless supply
of troops Hitler seemed to be able to acquire. This, to me, is why Course 14 intertwined the critical
thinking and ethical leadership modules. On Facione s scoring rubric from CF03, Critical Thinking, I
would definitely have given Winston s decision to use area bombing a 4 out of 4 (DAF, 2014b, p. 24).
In the strategy brief, he interpreted the evidence

The Optimist s Daughter Figurative Language
Making Peace with the Past
Death is a natural process that creeps into everyone s lives at one point. Ready or not, the process of
losing a loved one is an oppressive sense of despair. Grief is a natural response to the loss of a loved
one. It is numbing and can take a vast toll on a person. How someone formulates or represents the past
shapes their understanding and views of the present (House). The process of grief in Eudora Welty s
The Optimist s Daughter is displayed by characterization, figurative language, symbolism, and
flashback.
For instance, everyone copes with grief differently and at their own pace. Many react to death by
becoming depressed, angry, engaging in reckless compulsive behavior, or living in denial. These

Laurel remembered the breadboard as a clean, beautiful carved board that was very well kept. She was
livid when she found Fay cracking nuts on it with a hammer. The beautiful board was now dull, full of
splinters, and used to extinguish cigarettes. Enraged, Laurel was tempted to strike Fay on the head
with the board but then realized that the breadboard was a visible sign of the past and does not contain
the memory (Phillips). She was so focused on the physical object rather than the memory behind the
breadboard. Laurel realizes that a memory is not lived in initial possession but in the freed hands,
pardoned and freed, and in the heart that can empty but fill again (Welty 179).
By the same token, the West Virginia Mountains are a symbol of strength. As a child, Laurel s mother,
Becky, lived in Virginia with her family. Laurel s mother never felt more alive than when she was on
those mountains. She obtained a sense of resilience up there. After marrying Clinton, they settled in

she wanted to return to West Virginia when she was on her death bed. The thought and imagination of

Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads Essay
Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads
The video, Talking Heads Two was made in 1998. It is a collection of six dramatic monologues by
various different actors, each one telling their own story. Bennett wrote a series of monologues in
1988 for BBC 2 at a time when they were having financial difficulties. Monologues were chosen as
they only required a few actors and cameramen. They were successful and Bennett decided to write a

The title Miss Fozzard finds her feet lets the audience guess at what might happen in the monologue.
The use of the pun finds her feet tells us two things about the story she is going to tell. Firstly, that
Miss Fozzard has to find a new chiropodist to look after her feet when her old chiropodist Mr Suddaby
moves away. Secondly, before this monologue was written, Miss Fozzard seems to have a fairly
uneventful life, now however, she seems to have plenty of stories to tell the audience. By the end of
the monologue she seems to have an eventful and fulfilling life. So in other words she has Found her
feet in life and chiropody.
Also in the title there is humour. The name Miss Fozzard suggests humour and a character whose
traits suggest they are rather ditzy and slow to catch on which is true in Miss Fozzard s case. For
example when Bernard calls Miss Fozzard a cow she doesn t realise he is insulting her. This type of
humour is very tongue in cheek as it is used in her name. Her name is a source of humour and she
judges people by their names. She repeats her name a lot in the monologue especially when someone
she respects says it in conversation.
In the opening section, Miss Fozzard s character is built up immediately with the use of the phrase Bit
of a bombshell today which introduces the war imagery which I will later explain. Miss

to learn to see their lives with new eyes. Their reality is a social world where they have their place and
some assurance of a subsistence diet. Born into slavery, they cannot easily redefine their lives outside
the frame of enslavement. Indentured servitude was technically a fancy way to call someone a slave.
When the first settlers came to North America and realized they didn t know how to survive on this

Americans didn t want to anything for themselves, the indentured servitude system was created,

An indentured servant was, a majority of the time, poor citizens from England or male and female
convicts who needed to serve out their time. The job of the indentured was the same as a simple
housemaid or laborers. The men would take care of gardening, coachmen, butcher, ect. While the
women would simply do the laundry, sew, or any other simple housekeeping. The idea of indentured
servitude first came after young Englishmen needed a free way to the new world so they could start
anew. Indentured servitude first came to exist in the United States in 1620. This system provided
incentives for both the master and servant to increase the working population of the new colonies
formed in the New Word. This system seemed to benefit the servant as well. Each indentured servant
would have their fare across the Atlantic paid in full by their master. A contract was written that ensure
the length of service which was typically five years. The servant would be supplied room and board
while working in the master s fields. Upon completion of the contract, the servant would receive
freedom dues, a pre arranged termination bonus. This could include land, money, a gun, clothes or

5 years of work, however, this was not often the case. Just under half of indentured servants would not

Timeless Literature Over the course of each year English teachers choose pieces of literature to be
read over the course of the year. They all possess elements that make them applicable year after year.
Almost every piece of good literature has a theme, idea or lesson that makes it relevant for all ages. It
could be the importance of trust, bravery, family and friendship among others. Some of these works
are Thank You Ma am by Langston Hughes, The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers,
and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. In this first story, Thank You Ma am , a bot named Rodger
desperately wants blue suede shoes, and he is willing to go so far as stealing to get them.
Rodger rushes up to an older woman named Ms. Jones and tries to take her purse. Ms. Jones stops him
and grabs him by the shirt and does not take him to the police, but to her house. Which seems
illogical, but she has experience with the matter. She lets him clean up, gives him some food to eat and
trusts him to stay alone in a room for a couple minutes with no restriction, half expecting him to run
away or steal from her, but is hopeful he will not. He is apologetic and tries to thank her, but she cuts
him off. Ms. Jones was in a similar desperation once so she understands that Rodger is not a bad kid,
he is just in a bad place. When she returns he is there and her things untouched. ... Show more content

  • 2. Analysis Of Mark Twain s Advice To Youth In Mark Twain s, Advice to Youth, Twain educates the younger generations by providing his viewpoint of how people of their age should conduct themselves ranging from simple words of wisdom to instructions on how to interact with others in order to sculpt a generation more knowledgeable and intelligent than his own. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote, Joint Address to Congress Leading to a Declaration of War Against Japan, he announced that resulting from provocations from Japan, it was mandatory that the United States of America retaliated by engaging in a war against Japan in order to protect the American citizens. In her essay titled, A New Egalitarian Life Style, Gloria Steinem insists that women and black citizens have been treated inadequately starting from when the patriarchy began to reign in order to urge people to strive for equality across the board. However, in Of the Coming of John by W.E.B. Du Bois, the author relates an experience of a black man who had received higher education and as a result could no longer live in complacency with his lower status in society in order to urge the African Americans of the time period to go to college and receive education themselves. This quote appears within the introductory section of the novel when Lane, one of the central characters, must move to a hospital that doubles as a boarding school to receive treatment for his drug resistant case of tuberculosis. He had just seen Sadie, a girl who he used to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Animal And Non Infectious Diseases Until the last half of the 20th century, the emphasis of veterinary medicine had been on the treatment of individual animals with clearly identifiable diseases or defects. Apart from immunization against rabies and prophylactic treatment of internal parasites, restricted attention had been given to animal health and comprehensive preventive medicine, which give proper consideration to both infectious and non infectious diseases. Currently, the nature of traditional clinical practice is changing in all developing and developed countries. The pet owners are better educated, and the value of individual animals relative to veterinary fees has decreased. It is imperative to develop pet animal health programmes designed to prevent infectious diseases, rather than just dispensing traditional treatment to clinically sick animals. Due to the vast demographic changes in India, pet animal populations have increased above 10 millions within 2002 2012. Thus as a part of pet animal welfare, preventive measures for infectious diseases like vaccination against parvoviral enteritis, canine distemper, leptospirosis, infectious canine hepatitis, parainfluenza, kennel cough etc; deworming schedule for parasitic diseases like ancylostomiosis, toxocarosis etc; grooming practices to avoid skin problems and ectoparasites for control of hemoprotozoan diseases like babesiosis, ehrlichiosis etc.; hygenic measures are to be carried out which is now practiced up to an extend in cities but rare in rural ... • 4. Doctor Prescriptions ortunately for pharmaceutical companies, the United States government has not done nearly enough to regulate the companies. Pharmaceutical companies are able to spend millions of dollars on marketing, and not only on the cheesy direct to consumer ads we see ending with ask your doctor . The drugs that these companies make are not a standard item on the market; one needs permission to obtain drugs. Pharmaceutical companies understand this, so they spend a majority of their marketing funds on advertising to health care providers. In 2012, of the $27 million the industry spent on marketing, $24 million was for doctors (Pew Charitable Trusts). Aside from the skewed proportions in marketing fund division, 9 out of 10 pharmaceutical companies spent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously stated, the actions on the industry do sway a doctor s prescriptions. Many problems arise from this, namely the fact of expense and health. According to the FDA, generic brand drugs can be 80% more expensive than their name brand counterpart. The FDA also mandates that each must be bioequivalent. The doctors prescription could cost 80% more because of the influence of drug companies. Another factor of this marketing is known as going off label , or drugs being pushed for symptoms they weren t made for. This is part of the reason opioids have caused the United States heroin outbreak. Drug companies designed extreme pain killers, meant for terminal illnesses. That isn t a large market, so companies began pushing doctors to prescribe them for more and more cases. This is also on the rise with antidepressants and anxiety medication. Pharmaceutical companies over advertising their drug is dangerous and has resulted in lawsuits for almost every major drug company. Famously, the English drug company GSK paid $3 billion in a lawsuit for over prescribing their antidepressant, Paxil (New York Times). Pfizer, Johnson Johnson, Abbott, and Eli Lilly have all paid at least $1 billion for pushing off label prescriptions. However, many people support this entire practice because of the free market, and that companies have the right to advertise. While the free market is an integral part of Western culture, drugs are not just some product. Prescription drugs are tablets of complex chemistry backed by scientific research and approved of personal use by someone who has been to higher education for nearly twelve years. For example, sodas are an item on the free market. Coke and Pepsi have a right to advertise and try to create the better soda. They may convince someone to change brand loyalty, and there s little to no consequence. Drugs have life changing, or life ending, potential and complex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dantes Inferno Research Paper Dante Alighieri born on June 1, 1265 in Florence, Italy. Dante is a Italian poet and philosopher. He was born in a family that was a part of the political scene in Florence. His mother died a few years after he was born. He went to study at the University of Bologna which was one of the most famous universities in the medieval world. While he was there, one of the most famous scholars at that advised and encouraged Dante. His name was Brunetto Latini. He appears in Inferno. Dante s father was very disappointed in his son because he chose this girl to marry his son ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has been compared to the most famous poet ever, Shakespeare. He has been said to be the only writer to be in the same class as him. Some people believe that Dante s Divine Comedy is better than some of Shakespeare s work. Dante s Divine Comedy is still one of the best works of literature after 650 years. The work of art is a major part of The Western Canon. The Western Canon is a collection of the greatest books in history. Dante died in 1321 while traveling to Venice. What most people think was that he caught a disease like malaria because this was spreading throughout the medieval ages. He was buried in the Church of San Pier in Ravenna, Italy. Soon after he was buried, Florence argued that the poet s body should return to the city that he was born in. Today, Dante s body is in Ravenna even though Florence stills argues that he should be in the city that he was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We could conclude from that analysis that this means end chain helped us to define a bit more what a credit card customer is expecting when making the decision to go for a company more than another. If we have that in mind, then it s much more easier to differentiate the company from the competition and as a results try to gain market shares. B) What segments have been neglected? After having a look at the whole document, and after having analyzed the means end chain, we could say that some segments have been neglected. During the first scene, Glaspell establishes the plot, setting, and characters. As a result, the first scene, which presents the murder of John, Mrs. Wright husband, is a vital aspect of the play. The first scene begins with the Sheriff, George Henderson, who is the attorney, Lewis and Martha Hale, and the Sheriff s wife. All the characters are gathered in Mrs. Wright s living room discussing the murder and the events leading up to the murder. While the visual play was excellent and followed the play well, the setting seemed undone. For example, the kitchen appliances were white, which didn t seem appropriate for an old farm house. Also, the attire was underdone as well. The Sheriff didn t have an official uniform on and the attire didn t appear period correct. On the other hand, the audio play provided the voiceover, which allows the reader to visualize the play on their own. Secondly, I feel the visual played provided more emotional appeal. Mainly, the emotional appeal came from the actors facial expressions and body language. Unfortunately, it s not possible to obtain the same effect through an audio recording. Third of all, the audio recording provided sound effects as opposed to a physical setting. For example, instead the rocking chair being shown, the audio provided the sound of a rocking chair. Although many high school players want the opportunity to play sports in college, most are unaware of the increased workload required to play a college sport. When a high school player thinks about continuing their career to play college sports they often imagine the transition into college as being uncomplicated. An athlete must realize that he or she is expected to perform just as well in academics as they do in athletics. Many athletes do not consider the struggle of juggling a college sport and taking classes full time. Although it is important for the athlete to do their best in sports, it is also important to keep a good GPA and focus on school. Many coaches push this because without having a 2.3 GPA an athlete cannot play. While the players are going from only playing the sport for a few months out of the year to playing it year round, athletes struggle to find the time in their schedules to balance academics and athletics. Another negative effect for an athlete transitioning from high school to college is being away from home. This effects the athlete tremendously because this is often the first time an athlete has to experience what it is like to be away from their family. Because college sports require more input from the athlete than it did in high school, the athlete has to spend more time at college working to improve in their sport. The World Anti Doping Agency s (WADA) mission is to lead a collaborative worldwide campaign for a doping free sport.(list) Is the answer for athletes to just say no or should we really be looking beyond the drug. The Olympic motto of Faster, Higher, Stronger may have added new meaning to it with at all costs, just do it . If we look at our own American culture, War on Drugs , starting under Richard Nixon in 1971, we have not seen great strides in this being the cure. I believe this issue is rooted not just in testing but in the basic human value of individuals from any country, culture, or gender. Throughout the film there are concepts and terms of the comic spirit that are showcased throughout the film such as parody, bragger male archetype, euphemisms, contamination, disguise, parabasis, and inversion. The films main character Sailor, is a parody of Elvis. Sailor is a hyper masculine character, with a manic energy, and vocal mannerisms like Elvis Presley. The parody of Elvis not only is shown through Sailors vocal mannerism but also in the film we see examples of parabasis where Sailor stops the band playing and begins to sing Love Me by Elvis to Lula. During this scene, while Sailor is singing we hear girls screaming in admiration as if Elvis was actually the one singing. The girls that surround Sailor while he singing, look ... • 27. The Dramatic Impact of The Witches in William... The Dramatic Impact of The Witches in William Shakespeare s Macbeth Witchcraft in the 17th centaury was frowned upon by the church as a result witches were feared and loathed in the community. Many people thought that they were directly connected to Lucifer (the devil). Their evidence of this was that the devils familiars came up from hell and drank the witches blood from devil spots (moles or birthmarks), in return for this blood he would grant them special powers such as the ability to fly, foul crops or kill at a glance. As a result of this propaganda created by the church thousands of innocent people were tried as witches and burnt at the stake. To be in a 17th centaury audience and have ... This enables them to see past the present in to the future such as when they say when the battles lost and won , this suggests that they already know the outcome they know more than you. The witches also speak of some very unusual things that suggests that they are not normal. One of the oddest things they say is Hover through the fog and filthy air giving you the impression that they can fly. They also chant fair is foul and foul is fair , which would make it appear that they have a warped perception of reality what you would perceive as foul they would perceive as fair meaning that they can bend the rules a little. This draws you in because you want to know what mischief they can create. In the production that I saw I thought that they carried out this very well with fantastic lighting and sound affects. The witches were dressed in simple black robes and rags, but while reciting there lines there was a battle going on behind them with men falling in all directions which provides a feeling of confusion and that they have more power then the men fighting. I thought that this was brilliant because it gave the beginning of the production a real dramatic exciting start to the play. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Historical Leader Synthesis Essay On Sir Winston Churchill Historical Leader Synthesis Essay on Sir Winston Churchill Soaked in sweat, I ran to the library to get a book on a historical leader before they were all gone. I would like to think I found a great leader, but I think one found me. As I was reading a book on great leaders of World War II, I initially focused on American leaders, but Sir Winston S. Churchill seemed fit my exact requirements. Sir Winston S. Churchill was a Visionary and Ethical Leader. In the following pages, I will explain how Winston was a visionary leader and how he used Inspirational Motivation and global diversity to gain advantage during World War II. I will also explain how he critically thought through a gut wrenching decision by using Dr. Toner s three Ps in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Harmon s (1991) article, he details a scene where Sir Winston Churchill is sitting around the strategy table, debating the benefits of area bombing. Area bombing is a tactic where an area is indiscriminately bombed, regardless of military objective. During the meeting Winston stood up and proclaimed, Are we beasts, are we taking this too far (Harmon, 1991, p. 3). LM03, Ethical Leadership, discusses Dr. Toner s three P s, which are principle, purpose, and people (DAF, 2014c, p. 7). To me, Winston Churchill put the three P s in the correct order when he decided to commence area bombings. He put the principle of freedom and justice before the purpose of winning the war and finally, he put the people in their proper place of third. Had he not made this decision, who knows how many more would have died. The air raids killed innocent women and children, but many others today enjoy freedom and liberty because of this decision. The war continued and as the German people became war weary, ended in 1945 due, in part, to Churchill s proper use of the three P s. Making a decision like this takes guts, resolve, and most importantly an ability to see the second and third order effects. Winston Churchill would not have made the decision to area bomb had he not known that its effect on the German people would cause them to lose their will to fight, therefore limiting the endless supply of troops Hitler seemed to be able to acquire. This, to me, is why Course 14 intertwined the critical thinking and ethical leadership modules. On Facione s scoring rubric from CF03, Critical Thinking, I would definitely have given Winston s decision to use area bombing a 4 out of 4 (DAF, 2014b, p. 24). In the strategy brief, he interpreted the evidence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ready or not, the process of losing a loved one is an oppressive sense of despair. Grief is a natural response to the loss of a loved one. It is numbing and can take a vast toll on a person. How someone formulates or represents the past shapes their understanding and views of the present (House). The process of grief in Eudora Welty s The Optimist s Daughter is displayed by characterization, figurative language, symbolism, and flashback. For instance, everyone copes with grief differently and at their own pace. Many react to death by becoming depressed, angry, engaging in reckless compulsive behavior, or living in denial. She was livid when she found Fay cracking nuts on it with a hammer. The beautiful board was now dull, full of splinters, and used to extinguish cigarettes. Enraged, Laurel was tempted to strike Fay on the head with the board but then realized that the breadboard was a visible sign of the past and does not contain the memory (Phillips). She was so focused on the physical object rather than the memory behind the breadboard. Laurel realizes that a memory is not lived in initial possession but in the freed hands, pardoned and freed, and in the heart that can empty but fill again (Welty 179). By the same token, the West Virginia Mountains are a symbol of strength. As a child, Laurel s mother, Becky, lived in Virginia with her family. • 31. Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads Essay Miss Fozzard in Alan Bennett s Talking Heads The video, Talking Heads Two was made in 1998. It is a collection of six dramatic monologues by various different actors, each one telling their own story. Bennett wrote a series of monologues in 1988 for BBC 2 at a time when they were having financial difficulties. Monologues were chosen as they only required a few actors and cameramen. They were successful and Bennett decided to write a second series of monologues, the one which I am going to study is called Miss Fozzard finds her feet and I will be discussing how Alan Bennett creates her character and how her story is told. The monologues were written for, and shown on television. The use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title Miss Fozzard finds her feet lets the audience guess at what might happen in the monologue. The use of the pun finds her feet tells us two things about the story she is going to tell. Firstly, that Miss Fozzard has to find a new chiropodist to look after her feet when her old chiropodist Mr Suddaby moves away. Secondly, before this monologue was written, Miss Fozzard seems to have a fairly uneventful life, now however, she seems to have plenty of stories to tell the audience. By the end of the monologue she seems to have an eventful and fulfilling life. So in other words she has Found her feet in life and chiropody. Also in the title there is humour. The name Miss Fozzard suggests humour and a character whose traits suggest they are rather ditzy and slow to catch on which is true in Miss Fozzard s case. For example when Bernard calls Miss Fozzard a cow she doesn t realise he is insulting her. This type of humour is very tongue in cheek as it is used in her name. Her name is a source of humour and she judges people by their names. She repeats her name a lot in the monologue especially when someone she respects says it in conversation. In the opening section, Miss Fozzard s character is built up immediately with the use of the phrase Bit of a bombshell today which introduces the war imagery which I will later explain. Miss ... • 36. The First Step Out Of Bondage Kevin Bales stated in Understanding Global Slavery , For some slaves, the first step out of bondage is to learn to see their lives with new eyes. Their reality is a social world where they have their place and some assurance of a subsistence diet. Born into slavery, they cannot easily redefine their lives outside the frame of enslavement. Indentured servitude was technically a fancy way to call someone a slave. When the first settlers came to North America and realized they didn t know how to survive on this unknown land, their only solution was to find someone else to figure it out for them. Because early Americans didn t want to anything for themselves, the indentured servitude system was created, indentured servitude led to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An indentured servant was, a majority of the time, poor citizens from England or male and female convicts who needed to serve out their time. The job of the indentured was the same as a simple housemaid or laborers. The men would take care of gardening, coachmen, butcher, ect. While the women would simply do the laundry, sew, or any other simple housekeeping. The idea of indentured servitude first came after young Englishmen needed a free way to the new world so they could start anew. Indentured servitude first came to exist in the United States in 1620. This system provided incentives for both the master and servant to increase the working population of the new colonies formed in the New Word. This system seemed to benefit the servant as well. Each indentured servant would have their fare across the Atlantic paid in full by their master. A contract was written that ensure the length of service which was typically five years. The servant would be supplied room and board while working in the master s fields. Upon completion of the contract, the servant would receive freedom dues, a pre arranged termination bonus. This could include land, money, a gun, clothes or food. They all possess elements that make them applicable year after year. Almost every piece of good literature has a theme, idea or lesson that makes it relevant for all ages. It could be the importance of trust, bravery, family and friendship among others. Some of these works are Thank You Ma am by Langston Hughes, The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers, and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. In this first story, Thank You Ma am , a bot named Rodger desperately wants blue suede shoes, and he is willing to go so far as stealing to get them. Rodger rushes up to an older woman named Ms. Jones and tries to take her purse. Ms. Jones stops him and grabs him by the shirt and does not take him to the police, but to her house. Which seems illogical, but she has experience with the matter. She lets him clean up, gives him some food to eat and trusts him to stay alone in a room for a couple minutes with no restriction, half expecting him to run away or steal from her, but is hopeful he will not. He is apologetic and tries to thank her, but she cuts him off. Ms. Jones was in a similar desperation once so she understands that Rodger is not a bad kid, he is just in a bad place.
