Innovation Is The Progress Of Change Within A Business
Innovation is the progress of change within a business that s ultimate goal is to lead a business into
success. Each business model in every market must understand the constantly changing culture that
actually causes the business to change. Busy Bees Babysitting is a company that is in a constantly
changing market but has a unique twist to the average process. Innovation can bring a competitive
advantage to the business and lead into more organizational success. Innovation requires a recognition
of a problem, a proposed solution, an implementation plan and a way to measure it. All these aspects
work together and can lead a business into growth. I currently work for a company called Busy Bees
Babysitting as an independent contractor. This is a business, much like Care, that allows a family in
need of a babysitter or nanny, to have access to hundreds of CPR certified workers. These job requests
are made through an app where the parent enters the information of how many kids, their ages, and the
zip code to a database that the babysitters have access to. Then the babysitters open the app and see
which jobs they are available to take. This business has been open for about a year and a half and has
grown a lot over the past two months. They now have 375 babysitters and over 1500 families in need
of sitters. With such a quick growth rate the company runs on word of mouth, but they are
overwhelmed with the amount of work that comes with success. When a babysitter has a flat tire,

Essay On Crebrovascular Accident
A cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the death of brain cells due to a lack of oxygen. The brain can be
deprived oxygen either by a blockage such as a blood clot, or the rupturing of an artery. A lack of
oxygen to the brain is very dangerous and can be deadly. A hospital in Philadelphia treated 700
children in a four year timespan, and out of these 700 children, 26 suffered cerebrovascular accidents.
Research also showed that out of the 26 pediatric patients who suffered cerebrovascular accidents, 17
had a lymphoreticular malignancy, and nine had a solid tumor. There were several factors that seemed
to have a direct link to the cerebrovascular accident/stroke that these children suffered. Some of these
factors were chemotherapy, coagulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This caused a cerebral hemorrhage in three patients who were documented in the study. These patients
had neuroblastomas which can cause hemorrhaging in the brain as the tumor grows. The
thrombocytopenia and hemorrhaging combined could be a very possibly be the reason for the
cerebrovascular accidents suffered by patients. After reading the article it seems that although
cerebrovascular accidents do occur in children with cancer, it s not a large percentage and probably
not a huge concern to doctors. However, the number is still high enough to worry about if your child
was suffering from cancer. There is not enough information to determine if all factors are truly
responsible for the cerebrovascular accidents, however I do believe the link between the
chemotherapy seems to be the strongest one since the pediatric patients died from a cerebrovascular
accident while receiving their treatments. For this reason, I believe there should be more research to
find out which chemotherapeutic drugs are more likely to cause a cerebrovascular accidents, and if
anything can be done before the treatments begin to prevent the cerebrovascular accidents

The Life Of Faye G. Abdellah s Legacy
Faye G. Abdellah s Legacy
In life one has to take risks in order to bring forth a vision to life. Through risk taking, Faye G.
Abdellah achieved her inner most dreams of furthering the science of nursing research. Faye was a
pioneer nursing researcher that helped transform nursing theory, nursing care, and nursing education.
In 1960, she was influenced by the desire to promote patient centered comprehensive nursing care.
Faye described nursing as a service to individuals, to families and therefore to the society. She was a
rebel from the start in her efforts to promote nursing. Through time, she learned to disguise her
rebellious leadership methods under the title politically correct. Even when faced with setbacks Faye
continued to persevere (Houser Player, 2004).
Throughout Faye s life she demonstrated strong team leadership styles such as her remarkable courage
and determination for pursuing her vision. The courageous risks she took in her leadership roles were
all in an effort to improve patient care throughout the world. For example, during a visit to the San
Diego long term care facility Faye noticed statutory violations and other evidence of substandard care.
During her opening of the conference of the American Health Care Association, she announced to
them that the lack of patient care was unacceptable in the homes they licensed. The next morning she
received recognition from her boss which is the US Department of Health and Human Services. Faye
was applauded

Media In Politics Analysis
The media s role in politics should be to tell the people the facts about the candidates. They should
also tell us about candidates views, policies, rankings in the polls, and not give their own opinion of
the candidates. The media set the agenda on Democratic presidential nominee Bernie Sanders as being
a Socialist and not a real Democrat. Some media sources have believe this could hinder Sanders since
he is running as a Democrat, and some sources claim he has just as much potential as Hillary Clinton.
The following data was collected from new articles released between February 5th and February 8th,
2016. The topic of Sanders political status is a heated debate amongst the Democratic Party and for
that reason the media has failed to stick ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The articles that were found on the topic of Sanders Democratic standing induced both facts and
opinions. The media should be giving the people just the facts and letting the people make our own
opinions about the candidates. This can be hard to do as a report, but it should be done in order for
Americans to make their decisions without any influence from the news reporters. Knowing that
Sanders is more of a Socialist than a Democrat is a big part of his campaign and should be told to the
people, but the opinions of reports about his stance should not be covered on the

The Impact of Christian Education and Cultural Conflict...
Introduction The first missionaries to settle on the East African coast were Portuguese Roman
Catholics. By 1557 they had established monasteries at Mombasa and Lamu, Kenyan coastal towns.
The second wave of Christian missionaries included the Lutherans, who were sent to Kenya through
the Church Missionary Society (CMS). Among these were Johann Ludwig Krapf, Johann Rebman,
and Jacob Erhadt. As the missionaries established themselves on the mainland, they started schools as
a means of converting Africans to Christianity. The missionaries learned the native s languages in
order to facilitate better communication and evangelization. Their first project was to translate the
Bible into the native languages. Along the coast translation of the ... Show more content on

The white high lands became suitable for European settlement and as the construction of the Uganda
railway came to completion in 1902 , it was evident that the colonial government wanted maximum
utilization and productivity of the infrastructure. Sir Charles Elliot, commissioner in charge from

more particular among the Kikuyu community as more and more land continued to be seized by the

Descriptive Essay On A House In Childhood
Driving to Long Prairie, on the right side of the road, up a hill with a long, paved driveway will be a
house to the left. This house is two stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house had a
worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota weather. At the
end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of the driveway was a
large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the wall was a stairway that
leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick shed further away. Beyond the
house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of trees my grandpa planted when he
moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the
woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and
I have aged, grown, and changed together. Walking up the cracked cement steps, I enter the house
through a wood lacquer door. The smell that first hits my nose is the cigarette smoke from Grandpa.
Once inside, to my right, is the dining room that is typically filled with food and laughter. During the
holidays we gather there and fill our bellies with the food that we have all brought, and stuff ourselves
with the sweets that grandma has baked. To the left as I enter the door is the kitchen which is always
warm from the oven being used constantly with cooks bustling about like bees. If a turkey or ham was
not in the oven, there are cookies or brownies or my personal favorite, rhubarb pie. I would salivate
anticipating the sweet, tart taste to hit my lips, and I would devour it with greed. Straight ahead of the
entrance is the basement door. The basement steps are simply the wood floor beams that were never
completed. The basement was their storage space and where their appliances were such as their water
heater, which gave off a soft hum. The basement had the faint smell of vinegar because my
grandparents liked to pickle, so they had shelves in the basement cluttered with jars of various things
that they pickled. Going back up the stairs and through the kitchen is the carpeted living room. The far
side of the room

I Will Fight No More Forever And The Grapes Of Wrath
The idea of the American Dream is ever changing depending on the person and the time of life that
person is in. Although the main ideas of the American Dream remain the same to be educated,
economically sound, healthy, to have a family, and equal rights. Many great films and works of
literature were created to show case all the different ideas people have for their American Dream. The
film Grapes of Wrath directed by John Ford and the poem I Will Fight No More Forever by Chief

other, imbedded in a dying culture. However, in both stories there is a strong focus on protecting the

Their son, Tom, gets out of jail and his goal is to meet up with his family. He finds his family at the
uncle s house and he is happy to be back with them. This is important to him. Together, the family
decides to go to California so they can find work. They could have decided to spilt up and find work
in different parts of the country. It might have been easier to split up because you are not trying to find
work for a lot of people at one time at one location, especially during a time when work is very
difficult to find. Again, keeping the family together is important to the Joad family so they stay
together and to head west. Before they can leave the farm, the grandfather has a breakdown and
refuses to not leave the farm. The grandfather say s It s my dirt! Eh heh! No good, but it s it s mine, all
mine (Grapes). Although the farm is in horrible condition and the plants are not growing, he feels that
all his hard work has gone into this land. The only option the family has to keep the grandfather with
them is to drug him and bring him with them.
The trip to California from Oklahoma is long and not favorable to the family. It takes many days and
nights to get there. The family has very little food and money to left. During the trip, both the
grandfather and grandmother die along the way. Things look awful for the family. When they get to
California, the daughter s husband is skeptical about finding work and he decides to leaves.

Introduction. Among The Living Writers Of India There Is
Introduction Among the living writers of India there is hardly any parallel to the formidable creative
genius of Bhalchandra Nemade. He is a novelist, a poet and a distinguished critic. The impact of his
original thinking and the force of his powerful argument on the contemporary literary and intellectual
life of India is unparalleled in recent history. His greatest contribution to Indian literary criticism is his
theory of Nativism. As a literary critic he has been passionately advocating it. As a creative writer he
has demonstrated how theory can be brought into practice. Hence his novels like Kosala Bidhar Hul
Jhul Jarilaa and Hindu can be best described as experiments in Nativism. Most of Nemade s critical
ideas have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussion: Nemade s Attack on Bogus Internationalism Before defining his concept of nativism and
its need in literature and criticism, Nemade comes down heavily on the hollow and bogus
internationalism pursued by Indian writers and critics before and after independence. He admits the
fact of cultural imperialism that hampers our growth as a confident society, nation and culture. ...West
may not be there, but it is very much there in the mind of the East, and that cultural imperialism does
exist. (Nemade, 2009: 10) Nemade expects us to look into our own tradition to form our own
standards to judge the quality of a literary work. He laments the fact that in our times Indian writers
and critics by and large suffer from West worship mania. There is tendency in India to accept all that is
Western as modern, standard and progressive. Such a tendency often leads to blind acceptance of
Western norms in art, literature, culture, politics, media, fashion etc. Funnily enough such a tendency
is mistakenly equated with cultivation of international consciousness. The tendency of West worship
simultaneously leads to looking down upon everything native. As a result those who talk about the
worth and value of things native are branded as regressive and fundamentalists. Nemade makes it
clear that nativism is opposed to fundamentalism. We need to correct our faulty notions of being
modern and international,

The On The Marginal Productivity Theory
Stiglitz paints a very dark and hated picture of the top 1 percent or wealthy elite right off the bat.
Stiglitz is clearly against the 1 percent in almost every way. The 1 percent is stingy, useless, and does
nothing to provide benefits for the middle class or any body outside of the 1 percent. The deeper into
the article I found myself, the more questions came to mind. Are these facts or opinions? Does the
authors argument hold any statistical value? The more I questioned the more specific my research
became. The research developed into reasons how the marginal productivity theory is in fact a vital
part in the 1 percents role in the economy. That piece of information led to two other important pieces
of evidence. How much did the 1 percent actually contribute to society? How many job and
educational opportunities came from the wealthy elite? The research and statistics go on to speak for
themselves by stating how exactly the top 1 percent contribute to society specifically outside of their
income class and how many economic opportunities are provided from just the 1 percent alone. Of the
1%, By the 1%, For the 1% suggests that a large portion of the total income is being overrun by the 1
percent or the extremely wealthy. It states that the top 1 percent control over 40 percent of the nations
income. The author even brings on this shocking statistic Twenty five years ago, the corresponding
figures were 12 percent and 33 percent. (Stiglitz 79). This all sounds very nice

Swot Analysis Of Grandma s Strengths And Weaknesses
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
Strengths
Grandma s Best has many strengths, one of which is supplier diversity. This diversity provides
multiple procurement channels for goods and services. Obtaining a large catalog of suppliers create
scenarios that involve multiple suppliers that compete for Grandma s business. In doing this Grandma
s reduces the overall cost of the product/service. This drives competition between suppliers, which
increases the bottom dollar for the company and ensures that Grandma s is not over reliant on any one
supplier. The relationship that the company has with the brokers is a key asset, these brokers have the
capability of being able to expand on the existing channels of distribution. The fact that Grandma s
Best is financially stable is another positive for the firm. The company s financial performance and
profitability are solid, as production capabilities have expanded with increased sales creating positive
net income. There was an increase in net income of 112.8% from the previous year, an indication of
good financial profitability. Although Grandma s Best owns a very low market share (.05%), it has
seen great compound annual growth for the past three years of 4.62%, which is better than the average
United States confectionery market.
Weaknesses
There are a few weaknesses we identified: no vision or mission statement, underutilized website, lack
of capacity and lack of technology and information systems. According to Ceil Wloczewski of Cella
Consulting, mission, vision and values statements are crucial to communicating the who, what and
why for your organization to corporate management, team members and to the users of your services.
It s not enough to feel passionate about the products and services your organization offers, you and
your entire team also have to consciously understand the framework of what drives the organization.
This is essential in order to effectively communicate those drivers to a diverse group of people.
(http://www.cellaconsulting.com/blog/three things you cant do without mission vision and values
statements/) In today s society social media and a strong online presence can be key factors in the
growth of a company, Grandma s Best is lacking in this area.

Morality In Plato s Euthyphro
Morality in Euthyphro
To reach an understanding whether acts are immoral or moral we must ask ourselves what we consider
to be immoral or moral. According to Protagoras first claim on moral relativism, he states Man is the
measure of all things, of the things that are, that they are, and of the things that are not, that they are
not. The way something appears to me, is true to me and the way something appears to you, is true to
you. Consequently, meaning there is no absolute truth. Aristotle and Plato, both argue holding that the
view on moral objectivism is that there is a reality or realm of object and facts existing independent of
the mind. What actions are right to some, might be wrong to others. Essentially, morality is arbitrary.
It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morality intakes are relative to an individual s beliefs. If Euthyphro thinks punishing his father for
unmoral acts is moral than that is right for him. Both Plato and Aristotle would think that Protagoras s
claims are contradicting because if he says that relativism is truth for him than it would be false for
those who don t believe in relativism. Aristotle and Plato believe that there must be an objective truth,
something that is true for everyone at any given place or time. Taking an objective approach may not
always be relevant, particularly in cases where it is impossible to be objective because of the relevant
facts and viewpoints. In this case, how can someone know for sure that there is universal truth? Not
everyone is going to believe in the same principles as others, regardless of time, culture, place, etc.
Therefore, I believe there is no objective truth to

Analysis Of The Poem Harlem
James Mercer Langston Hughes was an American poet; a Joplin, Missouri native and an active,
versatile writer, earning acclaim as a poet, novelist, playwright and columnist. He was one of the first
poets to explore an innovative sing songy, stylized delivery called jazz poetry.
As an African American, his point of view, collectively synergized with this then new literary art,
catapulted his writings between the 1930s 1960s. He is often credited as the leader of the Harlem
Renaissance, and famously wrote about the period that the negro was in vogue. (Langston).
Throughout his body of work, Hughes spoke eloquently to the full spectrum of dreams both their
inspirational power and their heavy burden, if not fully realized. His famed ... Show more content on

In his 1951 poem, the title alone, Harlem (Dream Deferred) makes the reader immediately conscious
of the speaker s dismissal of ownership. The piece examines, upon deferral, what happens to a dream
Does it dry up / like a raisin the sun?
Hughes later deduces Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. There, with its indication of weight, the
reader draws comparison to a dream being a burden an unbearable, unattainable measuring stick in the
speaker s life, or in this piece s case, America s life.
Hughes, now older, having seen more of the world is grappling with the injustices of equality and
equity. Can an African American attain his/her dream without it wilting under the prejudices of an
unfair America? He saw the dreams of many residents of Harlem, New York disintegrate in the wake
of World War II. Some read this poem as a warning, believing that the speaker argues that deferred
dreams will lead to social unrest. Notably, Lorraine Hansberry chose a line from this poem as the title
of her famous play, A Raisin in the Sun, which explores the idea of delayed dreams in the world of a
black family living in the South Side of Chicago during the 1950s. Both the play and Hughes s poem
champion the power of pursuing dreams, and both comment on the state of civil rights in America.

Corporate Ethics and the Employee
Corporate Ethics and the Employee Introduction The WorldCom case presents two different responses
to WorldCom s financial difficulties. Betty Vinson acted unethically and illegally, was caught and was
punished for it. Cynthia Cooper acted ethically and legally, was recognized and lauded for it. While
their ethical positions might initially seem simple, the reality is complex. Likenesses of Betty Vinson
and Cynthia Cooper On the face of this situation, there are many likenesses between Vinson and
Cooper. Both were the primary breadwinners for their families. Both were born and raised in
Mississippi. Both were apparently somewhat religious, as Vinson taught Sunday School and Cooper
used the 23rd Psalm to comfort herself. Both were accountants. Both had subordinates working for
them. Both were hardworking, diligent and loyal. Both of their husbands essentially supported their
wives in doing the right thing: Vinson s husband wanted her to quit; Cooper s husband supported her
in her decision to keep digging for the financial discrepancies. Both lost weight and were otherwise
physically and mentally burdened by the situation. Without delving into the differences between these

The citizens of Czechoslovakia had not known freedom in decades. During much of World War II the
nation was occupied by the Nazis and later by the Red Army as it drove the Nazis back to Berlin.
When they Red Army moved into an area, communist regimes were set up to govern the area, and
establish satellite nations. There were numerous uprisings throughout the decade that were violently
suppressed by the communist governments with help from the USSR. After Alexander Dubcek tried to

The government called in military and riot police to forcibly break up the demonstration. Within that
same week, Vaclav Havel organized formed the Civic Forum , which gave a lot more organization to
the protests and demonstrations. The group demanded free and open democratic elections and an end
to government censorship. Protestors would gather together throughout Prague and Bratislava and
then eventually throughout the entire country. Within a month the Communist Party of
Czechoslovakia had fallen and Havel had been named President in the first free election in
Czechoslovakia since 1948. Even more amazing was that there was hardly any violence during the
uprising. For years it seemed almost impossible for the oppressive Czechoslovakian government to be
toppled, and yet in roughly a month Havel and the student demonstrators were able to do it. What
events lead to this peaceful overthrow of the Communist party and role did Havel play in them? What
role did popular culture play in the revolution? The events that eventually led to the successful
revolution in 1989 got their start in the Prague Spring in 1968. There was a brief period of political
reform in Czechoslovakia in 1968, when Alexander Dubcek was elected to be the First Secretary of

citizens as well as relaxing government censorship.

The nation of Israel has played a critical role in the formation of Western and Eastern ideologies and
has had an unmistakably profound impact upon the theological and cultural evolution of mankind.
Former U.S. President John Adams, commenting on the historical importance of the Hebrews, once
said the following:
I will insist the Hebrews have [contributed] more to civilize men than any other nation. If I was an
atheist and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be the
most essential instrument for civilizing the nations ... They are the most glorious nation that ever
inhabited this Earth. The Romans and their empire were but a bubble in comparison to the Jews. ...

Within the three great religions it is generally recognized that the Hebrew patriarch Abraham, through
his recognition of one God, initiated the primary and pivotal acceptance of the necessity of
monotheism. This embrace of the reality of the existence of the one, supreme, and infinite God was
called Kiddush Hashem , or sanctifying the name of God by the Hebrews (Aish). Reflections of the
Kiddush Hashem can be found in the three primary prayers of the monotheistic religions: The Islamic
Shahada: la ilaha illa Allah (there is no God but God)(George 27); The Jewish Shema: Shema Yisrael
Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad... (Hear Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is One); The Catholic
Nicene Creed: We believe in one God... (Catholic Encyclopedia). In the formations of these religions
we can see foreshadowed the current strife and often deadlocked political state of Israel. The Christian
Bible (and thusly the Jewish Torah, which is contained within its Old Testament) and the Islamic
Quran both admonish their readers to respect life and live a life of love and service to others. In fact,
in Surah 5:28 of the Quran Muhammad is quoted as saying You will surely find that the nearest in
affection to those who believe are the ones who say, We are Christians (George 20). However, despite
their undeniable ties, history has left

Importance Of Friendship In Siddhartha
What makes someone a good friend? Do friends have to be together all the time to qualify as a good
friend? In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the answer to these questions can be found.
Siddhartha, an unhappy Brahmin, leaves his parents and village with his friend Govinda to find
enlightenment. Govinda and Siddhartha separate, but later in the novel when they see each other
again, Govinda is still there for Siddhartha. Later in life, a ferryman named Vasudeva helps Siddhartha
find enlightenment. Hermann Hesse suggests that for a true friendship to work people do not have to
be together all the time or lifelong friends, as Hesse shows through Govinda and Siddhartha, as well as
Siddhartha and his relationship with Vasudeva.
Even though Govinda decides to take a different path, he still plays an important role in Siddhartha s
journey in finding enlightenment. Hermann Hesse writes, You re Siddhartha, Govinda exclaimed
loudly. Now, I m recognizing you, and don t comprehend anymore how I couldn t recognize you right
away. Be welcome, Siddhartha, my joy is great, to see you again. After many years apart, Govinda and
Siddhartha meet again at the river. It is surprising that the men did not recognize each other even
though they had grown up together. Govinda did not know it was Siddhartha, but he still feels a sense
of familiarity and protection over the man. Siddhartha is the first to recognize his dear friend, and it
takes Govinda a while to realize it is Siddhartha who was sleeping by the river. They are happy to see
each other, and even though the meeting is short lived, the men talk about their current situations.
Many years later, Siddhartha and Govinda meet again. Hermann Hesse also writes, Govinda stayed
the night in the hut and slept in the bed that had once been Vasudeva s. He asked the friend of his
youth many questions and Siddhartha had a great deal to tell him about his life. When Govinda and
Siddhartha separate once again, there is an extended time where they have no contact. The men still
feel comfortable with each other and Siddhartha invites Govinda into his home. Siddhartha had no
problem reconnecting with Govinda. It seems as though they had always been friends and they act like

Insidious Flowers Attract the Greatest Beauty
John Steinbeck s East of Eden tells the story of the lives of many people, each chapter focusing on a
different person or group. The proponents of the novel trail along the characters and displays a
contrast between them. The characters struggle between evil and good not only with themselves, but
with each other. In his story, East of Eden, Steinbeck places Cathy s demonic and deceiving
personality together with Adam s pure hearted temperament to demonstrate contradictions in nature.
Steinbeck uses the calm, fresh setting of Salinas Valley to create a distinctive atmosphere. The novel
follows the characters and their families in North America. The beginning of the novel consists of an
atmosphere in which both Adam Trask and Cathy Ames live in. They both live on the east coast and
explore its tenebrous tangibility. Adam lives a life of fear and pain in the east: first in the gruesome
and bloody war, and then with his brother Charles. While this is detrimental to Adam, the gloominess
and susceptibility of the east coast is perfect for Cathy. She learns that there she can use ...
manipulation [to] gain and keep power over anyone, (Steinbeck, 75). Eventually, Adam and Cathy

wary and hesitant. Cathy makes it known to Adam that she, ... didn t want to [go there], and that she
will not stay in California (Steinbeck, 173). She quietly threatens him that, As soon

Black-Footed Albatross
In the poem, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the Albatross makes a marvelous appearance as it carries
the wind on its backside in guiding a seemingly doomed ship through dangerous sea waters. This
poem alludes to the majestic beauty and unique qualities of the Albatross. Many century old legends
and myths are a product of the observations of the Albatross by sailors. Science has come a long way
in understanding the capabilities and nature of the Albatross. However, despite numerous publications
about this bird, none can quite explain the awe an observer feels when they first lay eyes on this
beautiful sea bird. The common name for the subject of this paper is the Albatross. It comes from the

It is a common issue that animal life is becoming more dependent on human intervention when it
comes to feeding. This is no different with the Albatross. The Albatross is a sea bird that will make
very long journeys consisting of .....flying for several thousand kilometers... (Lindsey 47). The
Albatross will spend a large portion of its life on the ocean so the question of its feeding strategy is a
popular topic since food is already scarce and widely distributed. These birds will often locate ships
and look for sustenance amongst the discarded food. Since it will normally feast on marine life, the
Albatross is a diurnal carnivore. It uses most of the day to feast on various marine life such as fish,
krill, squid, and crabs. There was a study conducted in 1994 by Peter Prince and his colleagues that
sought to understand how these birds were able to survive by fishing for sea creatures. Their results
were extraordinary, to say the least. Most Albatrosses will ...obtain food from the uppermost meter or
so of the ocean s surface... (Lindsey 49). However,

The novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, presents moral issues, and daily dehumanization
of men living in a camp in Russia in 1951. Ivan Denisovich, the protagonist in the novel spoke out
against Stalin, and was then put in a prison camp because of it. The novel presents a terrible situation
in which Ivan must overcome daily circumstances, which only a person living in a prison camp would
know how to survive. The tone and mood of the novel are able to work together to show the theme of
the novel, that human self respect is achieved as long as one is still holding onto it. The extract that

An example of this is on lines one through five. Now they released you faster, for they were counting

been speaking in the quotation; showing the free indirect discourse. The free indirect discourse helps
show the bleak tone of the novel. The bleak tone of the novel communicates the theme; human self
respect is achieved as long as one is still holding onto it. Because the tone is bleak, the theme is more
emphasized through Shukhovs actions of holding his self respect. Whether it may be by holding onto
items of sentimental purpose, or hoping for a letter from his family. The mood of the novel also fits in
with the bleak tone. The dreary mood is seen through the tone, but goes deeper and describes the
emotions portrayed throughout the novel. The last paragraphs of the novel, lines 40 45, show the
dreary mood of the novel. A day without a dark cloud. Almost a happy day. There were three thousand

many days to come that it is impossible to tell what those days will bring. The dreary mood is thus

Michelangelo s Last Judgement Analysis
Michelangelo s Last Judgement is a depiction of the second coming of Christ and captures the
moment when God judges all human beings. With over 300 nude figures in the fresco, there was a lot
of controversy. Many of those who opposed the work were those who believed it to be something that
belonged in a bath house rather than a church because of the images being shown. One of the most
prominent features of the fresco is that all the figures have a very muscular physique, which was what
Michelangelo was most known for. Although the work faced an extreme amount of criticism during
the time, it now receives high praises and is one of the most notable pieces of art in the world. In this
fresco Michelangelo is capturing the force and triumph of the most feared moments in the future,
while retaining the purity and power of nature by representing all of humanity as nude and muscular.
One of the Last Judgment s most prominent detail that has caused debate since it was first made was
the fact that all the figures depicted were nude. Nudity was an immense issue during the time
especially for those supportive of the Catholic churches counter reformation. One of those people is
Biagio da Cesena who is noted in Schlitt s text as saying that the excessive number and shameful
representation of the nudes made it better suited to a bath house or tavern than to the honored place it
occupied. Michelangelo was so committed to making every person in the Sistine Chapel naked, which

alcatraz
An icon of power and strength, Alcatraz has become the single most recognizable symbol of American
society. Situated in the San Francisco Bay, one can t help but be drawn to the rocky shore, the dark
walls, and the lone light tower sanding cold against a picturesque sunset imagining what it would have
been like to be incarcerated in one of the world s most infamous prisons.

Alcatraces was little more than a rock inhabited by a group of pelicans from which the island bears its
name (Alcatraces meaning pelicans in Spanish). However, in

island. A few were even commissioned to baby sit young children who lived on the island. Flowers
and shrubs were imported to help beautify the rocky island. Many inmates, because of this, were
allowed their own private gardens. In the 1920 s prisoners were allowed to build a baseball field on
which different inmate teams played in their own uniforms. On Friday nights hundreds of people
would come from the mainland to see the exciting Alcatraz Fights which pitted two inmates against
each other in a boxing type match.
With the rise of organized crime in the 1930 s Alcatraz went through some dramatic changes. The
deteriorating cell house was refurbished with electronically controlled cell doors, metal detectors, gun
galleries which allowed guards an elevated view of the entire cell house, permanently mounted tear
gas canisters in the ceiling of the dining hall, and tool proof bars. New cells nicked named Strip cells
and The Hole were built to house those inmates who required complete isolation. A strict silence rule
was instituted and those who violated it could be put in isolation for up to eight days. The once merry
days of baseball games and gardening were over.
In 1963, due to the exorbent cost of running an island prison, Alcatraz was officially closed.
Arguments quickly arose over what to do with the eyesore that the prison had become.

Evaluating Benjamin Todd s Speech From A Ted Talk
I decided to report my speech from a ted talk. I chose a topic that would be interesting enough to hear
and can easily be relatable. The speaker I chose to evaluate is Benjamin Todd. Todd did his ted talk to
persuade his audience to find work that they love instead of following their passion. At first the title
was confusing because in my opinion love and passion would go together, however by listening to his
speech throughout he was able to persuade me on how I should pick my career and how I should avoid

Todd delivers a successful speech as he uses hand gestures and does movements throughout that
correlated well with his speech. He raises the pitch of his voice while discussing a main point to create
emphasis on that specific idea. For example, when he tries to persuade his audience to do something
valuable and be altruistic he raises his voice to leave an impact on his audience. He dresses business
causal to appear formal but also look like a regular everyday person to relate to his audience instead of
being completely professional and dressing up in a suit and tie. He pauses many times to let his

audience of about 20 50 people and throughout his speech held eye contact with as many people as he

The Ultimate Motive In Voltaire s Candide
The slaying of a mythical beast, a battle between opposing cavalries, the search for prosperity and
riches. A quest generally has a stated motive, such as the events stated, and a more clandestine motive,
often not revealed to the audience until the end of the story. In Voltaire s Candide, while the apparent
intent for Candide through most of the story is to rescue the damsel in distress, the ultimate motive
reveal takes Candide traversing insurmountable obstacles. The quest format utilized by Voltaire is vital
to the story, The format allows Voltaire to destroy the naivete of the audience and satirize ideas that
were the foundations of the lives of men.
When the audience reads Candide, they first learn about his upbringing. Living comfortably in the lap
of wealth, and learning from renowned philosophers, Candide cradles the world in his palms. While
learning Pangloss s Everything is for the greater good philosophy, Candide absorbs a plethora of naive
wisdom. Candide s cushy bubble crumbles, however, once he kisses the Baron s daughter, Cunegonde.

this seems to be a setback in his quest, it actually advances him closer to the actual goal: self
knowledge and comprehension about suffering. This statement also shows the satirical nature of this
novel. The third and largest crack in the philosophy and the candor of the audience is the posed
question If everything is for the greater good, and we live in the best possible worlds, why is there still

Local Self Government
Introduction
Local government institutions have always existed in India in one form or another since ancient times.
The present form of urban local government owes its genesis to the British rule. The initiation began
with Samuel Laing, member of the Viceroy s Council, in the Budget Speech (1861 62) proposing that
local services should be based on local resources. Lord Mayo s Resolution of 1870 introduced the
concept of elected representatives in the municipalities. Lord Ripon is considered the founding father
of urban local government as he implanted the concept of municipal authorities as units of self
government. His Resolution of 18 May 1882 on local self government dealt with the constitution of

The government had a direct link with the peasants instead of the feudatories. The Chola kings had
adopted the Yuvaraja during king`s rule. The orders of the kings were written and copies of it would
be sent to respective departments and officers. The royal priest was the reliable advisor of the King.
Development of local self government was one of the most striking features of administration of the
Chola dynasty. The villages were given autonomy despite centralised system of governance. The
Chola officials acted as advisors to village assemblies and there was no interference in daily
administration. Thus there was continuity in village administration despite political upheavals. The
general assembly was classified into tax paying villagers, Brahmins and traders. The central
government officers examined accounts and supervised the work of the tax paying villagers. The
village assemblies received gifts from rich men or from king for developmental activities. The
feudatories were unable to impede in the village management. Their job was very clerical in the sense
it was a mere collection of taxes and passing the share to the King.
Elaborate and complicated mechanisms are the attributes of Chola administration. Administration
under the Chola dynasty was systematically conducted. Autonomy along with centralization was
moderately followed in each and every level. Revenue, justice, governance and military were given

The Fairytale Of Cinderella By James Poniewozik
Each and every child grows up viewing Disney movies, wearing princess gowns, and buzz lightyear
suits. The parents of these children are the individuals purchasing these Disney costumes, toys, candy,
and other related items for their children. Our society today accepts Disney and their culture of
entertainment as a part of a child s childhood experience without second thought. Elements of the
fairytale of Cinderella has adapted over time to please the culture in which it is told; yet in today s
culture, adaptation to these elements is taken to where it has never been. In The Princess Paradox,
James Poniewozik says, You can have the girly dream of glass slippers and true love, these films say,
as well as the womanly ideal of self determination and independence and any contradictions between
them are no match for the movies magic (Poniewozik 324). Peggy Orenstein compliments Poniewozik
s article because she states, The first Princess items, released with no marketing plan, no focus groups,
no advertising, sold as if blessed by a fairy godmother (Orenstein 327). Poniewozik is trying to argue
that films have altered the story of Cinderella in the 21st century cinema realm due to the addition of
the concept of feminism, women s separation from men, and the traditional magic implemented within
them. Orenstein marries these articles together indirectly by pointing out that Disney legitimately had
no marketing plan, yet they continue to rake in money. The reason Disney

How Did Ww1 Affect The Economy Of Canada
World War I was just a stepping stone for the Canadian nation, it was their efforts in the Second World
War that Canada really became independent. The short term losses gave Canada long term benefits. Its
economic growth, international respect, and political standing gave her recognition and more
importantly, it shaped itself as an independent country. Canada was a widespread name after the

its own. As war erupted, Canada began to supply many resources and raw material to the war, which
created a boom in the economy. Factories sprouted across Canada due to the exceeding demand of war
material. Lots of factories converted their production line to help the effort, putting more money into
the flow. In the pre war period agriculture was an important section of the economy, however the war
changed that drastically as industry was required. As the war started and by 1942 thousands of

Personal Statement For Women

Stop studying math so hard, girl. How will math help you? My high school classmate Yijie jeered at
me when I told him I wanted to major in mathematics and computer science. Such complex subjects

What Challenges Does South Asian Children Face
South Asian children face many challenges while living in Toronto/Canada. The children are typically
adjusted to the lifestyle of their homeland and find it difficult to re adjust to a new territory. Settling
alone in a new place takes a toll on the children as well as the parents. Leaving everyone/everything in
a search for a better life for their kids, parents struggle to thoroughly manage taking care of their
children to the fullest. Parents have one eye open for their extended family and one eye open for their
kids. As a result, the children fail to have a companion alongside them at all times and therefore, the
children view life negatively. Not taught how to properly handle a situation, south Asian children face

have had friends and family that have supported them throughout their young life. South Asians
children have travelled down a much harsher path where they had to leave their loved ones and re

Dunbar (2010) provided some helpful insight and information regarding finding a niche (p. 153 166).
However, I feel that it is not a sufficient amount of information to help me feel confident enough to
choose a niche and I would have liked to have more information regarding that topic. In addition, I
have some concerns regarding liability and the laws when choosing a particular niche. Therefore, I
feel Dunbar could have provided more detailed information regarding the legality of different
coaching niches or where that information can be found. I want to make sure that I have the right
credentials so I can be confident, successful, and truly help my clients. I agree with all of the skill sets
that were presented by Dunbar (2010). I feel that they are all important skills that are needed in order
to be successful at coaching. The skill set that I was most excited to read about was intuitive skills and
the exercises that Dunbar (2010) provided: 1) developing sensory acuity, 2) noticing your inner
senses, 3) developing a greater understanding of your intuition, 4) mediation (p.115 126). I practice
intuitive skills on a regular basis by meditating and quieting the mind. This skill set and exercises is
not just a practice for coaching; I feel it should be a part of daily life. It is a wellness practice for
everyone in any situation. Developing your inner senses can connect you with a higher power; not just

Ntozake Shange s Poem For Colored Girls
somebody / anybody sing a black girl s song: The Politics of Gender and Race in Ntozake Shange s
for colored girls Ntozake Shange s choreopoem for colored girls who have considered suicide/when
the rainbow is enuf tells, through spoken word and movement, snippets of the stories of a number of
women of color, that number being simultaneously one, seven, and the entire population of colored
girls in america. In highlighting different aspects of the experience of the woman of color in the 1970s
(though there is nothing specifically 70s about the stories; they have a feeling of timelessness to
them), Shange explores the politics of gender and its intersections with race as a silencing of Black
women and their struggle to have their voices heard. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A story of shame, denial, and infidelity, positive begins with the protagonist, voiced by the lady in
yellow, describing her relationship with her lover, DJ: it d been years/ then we were together again [...]
I forgot all the years apart, (70) another case of a woman relinquish[ing] her rights, her identity, in the
presence of a man (34). The story goes on with the protagonist sharing the space of her home with her
friend Carol, voiced by the lady in brown, just [...] us girls, with a very absent DJ (70). After Carol/the
lady in brown tells her that DJ had been seen at the local gay bar and that she should get tested for
HIV, the lady in yellow denies it all: you just mind your house n let me tend to mine cause there s
nothing wrong here (72). With Carol present in her house, in her space of interiority, the lady in
yellow finds her struggling, not knowing even what is going on within herself, her household, her
community later, when she receives a phone call for #7QYG9, her patient number, she says I think
that s me, but i m not sick (74), revealing her uncertainty of her very identity, and her willing
blindness to what s going on around her as a coping

Waning Moon Research Paper
Waning Moon Spells A Spell To Bind Bullies You Need: 3 black candles black thread one black pen a
piece of paper an empty glass jar This spell will not hurt your bully, it will just make them leave you
alone. Do this spell at midnight on a Saturday of a waning moon (a period of time between a full
moon and a new moon, the light is decreasing. The opposite is the waxing moon, when the moon is
moving from a new moon to a full). Set the candles in a big triangle shape, big enough so that you can
sit in the middle. Light the candles. Write the bully s name on the paper, and draw an X over it. Fold it
three times. Say: I bind you (say their name) so that you cannot hurt me anymore, both physically, and
emotionally. Get out of my life, leave me alone. I bind you (say name) I bind you. Then tie the thread
around the folded paper, and pop it in the jar. Screw on the lid. Snuff out the candles (never, NEVER
blow out candles after a spell, it pushes the magick away). The next day, bury the jar off you property,
or you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This should be performed during a waning moon. You will need: A candle (black is the best colour for
this) Pen and paper Write down the habit that you wish to be rid of on the piece of paper. Now light
the candle, and stare into the flame as you clear your mind of all thought. Take the paper and burn it
with the candle, while chanting: With this cleansing flame I banish you from my life So mote it be.
Once you have done this, it s time to formulate a new intent, which you will write down on another
piece of paper. Make sure your new intent is positive, and written in present tense. Here are a few
examples: To stop smoking: I am a healthy non smoker To stop procrastinating: I feel motivated to get
things done To stop biting your nails: My nails are healthy and strong Every morning, for the next 21
days, write down your new intent three times on a fresh piece of

  • 2. Innovation Is The Progress Of Change Within A Business Innovation is the progress of change within a business that s ultimate goal is to lead a business into success. Each business model in every market must understand the constantly changing culture that actually causes the business to change. Busy Bees Babysitting is a company that is in a constantly changing market but has a unique twist to the average process. Innovation can bring a competitive advantage to the business and lead into more organizational success. Innovation requires a recognition of a problem, a proposed solution, an implementation plan and a way to measure it. All these aspects work together and can lead a business into growth. I currently work for a company called Busy Bees Babysitting as an independent contractor. This is a business, much like Care, that allows a family in need of a babysitter or nanny, to have access to hundreds of CPR certified workers. These job requests are made through an app where the parent enters the information of how many kids, their ages, and the zip code to a database that the babysitters have access to. Then the babysitters open the app and see which jobs they are available to take. This business has been open for about a year and a half and has grown a lot over the past two months. They now have 375 babysitters and over 1500 families in need of sitters. With such a quick growth rate the company runs on word of mouth, but they are overwhelmed with the amount of work that comes with success. When a babysitter has a flat tire, ... • 3. Essay On Crebrovascular Accident A cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the death of brain cells due to a lack of oxygen. The brain can be deprived oxygen either by a blockage such as a blood clot, or the rupturing of an artery. A lack of oxygen to the brain is very dangerous and can be deadly. A hospital in Philadelphia treated 700 children in a four year timespan, and out of these 700 children, 26 suffered cerebrovascular accidents. Research also showed that out of the 26 pediatric patients who suffered cerebrovascular accidents, 17 had a lymphoreticular malignancy, and nine had a solid tumor. After reading the article it seems that although cerebrovascular accidents do occur in children with cancer, it s not a large percentage and probably not a huge concern to doctors. However, the number is still high enough to worry about if your child was suffering from cancer. There is not enough information to determine if all factors are truly responsible for the cerebrovascular accidents, however I do believe the link between the chemotherapy seems to be the strongest one since the pediatric patients died from a cerebrovascular accident while receiving their treatments. For this reason, I believe there should be more research to find out which chemotherapeutic drugs are more likely to cause a cerebrovascular accidents, and if anything can be done before the treatments begin to prevent the cerebrovascular accidents from ... • 4. The Life Of Faye G. Abdellah s Legacy Faye G. Abdellah s Legacy In life one has to take risks in order to bring forth a vision to life. Through risk taking, Faye G. Abdellah achieved her inner most dreams of furthering the science of nursing research. Faye was a pioneer nursing researcher that helped transform nursing theory, nursing care, and nursing education. In 1960, she was influenced by the desire to promote patient centered comprehensive nursing care. Faye described nursing as a service to individuals, to families and therefore to the society. She was a rebel from the start in her efforts to promote nursing. Through time, she learned to disguise her rebellious leadership methods under the title politically correct. Even when faced with setbacks Faye continued to persevere (Houser Player, 2004). Throughout Faye s life she demonstrated strong team leadership styles such as her remarkable courage and determination for pursuing her vision. The courageous risks she took in her leadership roles were all in an effort to improve patient care throughout the world. For example, during a visit to the San Diego long term care facility Faye noticed statutory violations and other evidence of substandard care. During her opening of the conference of the American Health Care Association, she announced to them that the lack of patient care was unacceptable in the homes they licensed. The next morning she received recognition from her boss which is the US Department of Health and Human Services. Faye was applauded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Descriptive Essay On A House In Childhood Driving to Long Prairie, on the right side of the road, up a hill with a long, paved driveway will be a house to the left. This house is two stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house had a worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota weather. At the end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of the driveway was a large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the wall was a stairway that leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick shed further away. Beyond the house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of trees my grandpa planted when he moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and I have aged, grown, and changed together. Walking up the cracked cement steps, I enter the house through a wood lacquer door. The smell that first hits my nose is the cigarette smoke from Grandpa. Once inside, to my right, is the dining room that is typically filled with food and laughter. During the holidays we gather there and fill our bellies with the food that we have all brought, and stuff ourselves with the sweets that grandma has baked. To the left as I enter the door is the kitchen which is always warm from the oven being used constantly with cooks bustling about like bees. If a turkey or ham was not in the oven, there are cookies or brownies or my personal favorite, rhubarb pie. I would salivate anticipating the sweet, tart taste to hit my lips, and I would devour it with greed. Straight ahead of the entrance is the basement door. The basement steps are simply the wood floor beams that were never completed. The basement was their storage space and where their appliances were such as their water heater, which gave off a soft hum. The basement had the faint smell of vinegar because my grandparents liked to pickle, so they had shelves in the basement cluttered with jars of various things that they pickled. His greatest contribution to Indian literary criticism is his theory of Nativism. As a literary critic he has been passionately advocating it. (Nemade, 2009: 10) Nemade expects us to look into our own tradition to form our own standards to judge the quality of a literary work. He laments the fact that in our times Indian writers and critics by and large suffer from West worship mania. There is tendency in India to accept all that is Western as modern, standard and progressive. Such a tendency often leads to blind acceptance of Western norms in art, literature, culture, politics, media, fashion etc. Funnily enough such a tendency is mistakenly equated with cultivation of international consciousness. The tendency of West worship simultaneously leads to looking down upon everything native. As a result those who talk about the worth and value of things native are branded as regressive and fundamentalists. Nemade makes it clear that nativism is opposed to fundamentalism. • 11. The On The Marginal Productivity Theory Stiglitz paints a very dark and hated picture of the top 1 percent or wealthy elite right off the bat. Stiglitz is clearly against the 1 percent in almost every way. The 1 percent is stingy, useless, and does nothing to provide benefits for the middle class or any body outside of the 1 percent. The deeper into the article I found myself, the more questions came to mind. Are these facts or opinions? Does the authors argument hold any statistical value? The more I questioned the more specific my research became. The research developed into reasons how the marginal productivity theory is in fact a vital part in the 1 percents role in the economy. That piece of information led to two other important pieces of evidence. How much did the 1 percent actually contribute to society? How many job and educational opportunities came from the wealthy elite? The research and statistics go on to speak for themselves by stating how exactly the top 1 percent contribute to society specifically outside of their income class and how many economic opportunities are provided from just the 1 percent alone. Of the 1%, By the 1%, For the 1% suggests that a large portion of the total income is being overrun by the 1 percent or the extremely wealthy. It states that the top 1 percent control over 40 percent of the nations income. The relationship that the company has with the brokers is a key asset, these brokers have the capability of being able to expand on the existing channels of distribution. The fact that Grandma s Best is financially stable is another positive for the firm. The company s financial performance and profitability are solid, as production capabilities have expanded with increased sales creating positive net income. There was an increase in net income of 112.8% from the previous year, an indication of good financial profitability. Although Grandma s Best owns a very low market share (.05%), it has seen great compound annual growth for the past three years of 4.62%, which is better than the average United States confectionery market. • 21. Importance Of Friendship In Siddhartha What makes someone a good friend? Do friends have to be together all the time to qualify as a good friend? In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the answer to these questions can be found. Siddhartha, an unhappy Brahmin, leaves his parents and village with his friend Govinda to find enlightenment. Govinda and Siddhartha separate, but later in the novel when they see each other again, Govinda is still there for Siddhartha. Later in life, a ferryman named Vasudeva helps Siddhartha find enlightenment. Hermann Hesse suggests that for a true friendship to work people do not have to be together all the time or lifelong friends, as Hesse shows through Govinda and Siddhartha, as well as Siddhartha and his relationship with Vasudeva. Even though Govinda decides to take a different path, he still plays an important role in Siddhartha s journey in finding enlightenment. Hermann Hesse writes, You re Siddhartha, Govinda exclaimed loudly. Now, I m recognizing you, and don t comprehend anymore how I couldn t recognize you right away. Be welcome, Siddhartha, my joy is great, to see you again. After many years apart, Govinda and Siddhartha meet again at the river. It is surprising that the men did not recognize each other even though they had grown up together. Govinda did not know it was Siddhartha, but he still feels a sense of familiarity and protection over the man. Siddhartha is the first to recognize his dear friend, and it takes Govinda a while to realize it is Siddhartha who was sleeping by the river. They are happy to see each other, and even though the meeting is short lived, the men talk about their current situations. Many years later, Siddhartha and Govinda meet again. Hermann Hesse also writes, Govinda stayed the night in the hut and slept in the bed that had once been Vasudeva s. He asked the friend of his youth many questions and Siddhartha had a great deal to tell him about his life. Steinbeck uses the calm, fresh setting of Salinas Valley to create a distinctive atmosphere. The novel follows the characters and their families in North America. The beginning of the novel consists of an atmosphere in which both Adam Trask and Cathy Ames live in. They both live on the east coast and explore its tenebrous tangibility. With over 300 nude figures in the fresco, there was a lot of controversy. Many of those who opposed the work were those who believed it to be something that belonged in a bath house rather than a church because of the images being shown. One of the most prominent features of the fresco is that all the figures have a very muscular physique, which was what Michelangelo was most known for. Although the work faced an extreme amount of criticism during the time, it now receives high praises and is one of the most notable pieces of art in the world. In this fresco Michelangelo is capturing the force and triumph of the most feared moments in the future, while retaining the purity and power of nature by representing all of humanity as nude and muscular. One of the Last Judgment s most prominent detail that has caused debate since it was first made was the fact that all the figures depicted were nude. Nudity was an immense issue during the time especially for those supportive of the Catholic churches counter reformation. One of those people is Biagio da Cesena who is noted in Schlitt s text as saying that the excessive number and shameful representation of the nudes made it better suited to a bath house or tavern than to the honored place it occupied. The parents of these children are the individuals purchasing these Disney costumes, toys, candy, and other related items for their children. Our society today accepts Disney and their culture of entertainment as a part of a child s childhood experience without second thought. Elements of the fairytale of Cinderella has adapted over time to please the culture in which it is told; yet in today s culture, adaptation to these elements is taken to where it has never been. In The Princess Paradox, James Poniewozik says, You can have the girly dream of glass slippers and true love, these films say, as well as the womanly ideal of self determination and independence and any contradictions between them are no match for the movies magic (Poniewozik 324). Peggy Orenstein compliments Poniewozik s article because she states, The first Princess items, released with no marketing plan, no focus groups, no advertising, sold as if blessed by a fairy godmother (Orenstein 327). Poniewozik is trying to argue that films have altered the story of Cinderella in the 21st century cinema realm due to the addition of the concept of feminism, women s separation from men, and the traditional magic implemented within them.
