Monsanto Essay
Monsanto Seeds
Putting small farmers out of business, a history of paying lobbyists to block government regulations
on genetically modified organisms, destroying the environment, lacking testing on their products;
these are all characteristics of Monsanto s company. Monsanto is a company that provides the largest
producer of genetically engineered seeds (Neuman). Monsanto s corporation is a danger to our health
and environment. Monsanto Company started off its chemical business in 1997, Monsanto traces its
roots to John Francisco Queeny, a purchaser for a wholesale drug house, who formed the Monsanto
Chemical Works in St. Louis, Missouri (Barboza). In the mid 1990s, it became the first to widely
market genetically engineered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies, like Monsanto will come after small farms and sue them for more than they can pay if
they find out they are using even a small portion of GM crops in their fields, even if by accident
(Fitzgerald). Approximately 2,400 farmers in 19 states through 2006 were sued and spied upon for
alleged seed piracy , Monsanto has an annual budget of $10 million dollars and a staff of 75 devoted
solely to investigating and prosecuting farmers who are caught with different seed. (Monsanto). It
doesn t help that Monsanto also has power in politics, one of the Monsanto chiefs for food safety,
Michael Taylor was actually appointed by Barrack Obama himself. Barrack Obama also appointed his
Supreme Court judge: Elena Kagan, who happens to be the chief defender of Monsanto and GMO s.
Whether Republican or Democratic, Monsanto wields a strong power within politics that helps give
them an edge in keeping their company going. (Obama). There are good aspects of Monsanto, like the
efficiency of cheap seeds, and crops that can withstand the harsh behaviors of weathers, and the ability
the crops have to survive a longer time. But not even the cheapest crops can cover up Monsanto s long
history of evil, from polluting the environment with PCB s, the chemical Agent Orange, and the weed
killer Round Up Ready , to Monopolizing itself to being the owner of 90% of the seed industry and

Binge Drinking In College Essay
Introduction/Background
Most research focuses on binge drinking within a 4 year college setting, however respectfully the
majority of variables remain constant between 2 year and 4 year institutions, therefore posing the
question is this an issue among 2 year colleges as well. The focus of this research paper is to establish
the significance of binge drinking within the community college setting, consider what the causes are
and how to change the thought processes that are intertwined within this culture through
prevention/harm reduction education.
The documented data states that college students who are athletes, males, whites and some first year
students drink the most. It can be presumed that Folsom Lake College and other community colleges

that involve problematic binge drinking are respectfully higher on a 4 year college campus, however
despite this elevation, binge drinking still presents its share of consequences at an undergrad level.
The environmental differences contribute to the lower numbers at a community college level are
associated with the lack of fraternities and sororities and the variations of social norms. Prevention
and intervention efforts would need to speak to these differences in campus life and maneuver around

Summary Of The Art Of Living Consciously By Nathaniel Branden
In 1999, Nathaniel Branden published a very influential book called The Art of Living Consciously.
This book discussed various ways one can build their self esteem. This is one of many of Branden s
books on self esteem but this one is focusing on the aspect of living consciously. He promotes this as
the idea of living consciously as a healthy aspect of self esteem in a person s mental abilities and
respect for reality. He applies his theory of living consciously to specific aspects of life such as
relationships, parenting, and in the workplace. Branden portrays his ideas in a very approachable way,
many of his sentences seem somewhat open ended so you can you relate it your everyday life. For
example, he states What determines the level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains to use how we may be able to live consciously and how we can shift our focus from
consciously living; the flipping the switch as mentioned earlier. He explains that what can help us all
live this way is by knowing what we are doing while we are doing it. Though this may seem like a
very simple task but one that would require some discipline. One of the interesting aspects of Branden
s work is that he walks us through situations we would encounter in our everyday lives and then has
the reader ask themselves questions like How can we be more conscious in this area? and How can we
tell we are doing right? This helps the reader feel more connected with his writing. They may be able
to envision how they can live more conscious and their life and become more aware of how to living
this way. Some of the topics Branden really highlighted throughout his book was the importance of
reason and the commitment of awareness. But he s does this in such a desirable approach, he does not
try to validate his points instead he examines life starting from child and shows how things in life
could have affected your way to practice the principles to live in this state. He writes about the lives of
himself and other involved in his life and puts us in situations showing that to be more aware of the
reality around you can make yourself stand out to others who bury themselves in unconsciousness. Yet
his way of displaying this message is so approachable because he discourages the common idea that
reason rather than experience is the key to knowledge and he also speaks to you through your
experiences that really make you think. This really helps bring the reader closer to the experience
Branden is try to put forth and the stories, exercises and discussions really help portray that message.
Instead of describing the good life, he invites us into discover this life for ourselves which

Spanish Immigration Dbq Essay
The Spanish exploration of America brought many new foods, types of plants, and many forms of
wealth to the European world. However, the wealth that was brought from the Americas came at a
cost. The suffering and enslavement of the Native people and the transportation of Africans to
America to be used as slaves alongside the Natives. Many motivations were used to support this
extraction of wealth and treatment of the Natives and Africans, however two are easily verifiable. The
Spanish colonization from 1492 to 1700 was motivated by religious conversion of all peoples in
America and the desire for wealth and profit that had a significant impact on the lives of Native
Americans and Africans.
First, colonization by the Spanish was motivated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason America was discovered in the first place was because Columbus was looking for a water
route to Asia. Columbus was sailing to avoid the tax and unfriendliness of the Ottoman empire. When
Columbus realized that he was not in Asia and instead was in an whole new world basically, he sent
captured indians back the Pope to show him that the Natives could be used for labor. After this, many
conquistadors flooded to America looking for wealth and profit. Some well known conquistadors we
re Hernan Cortes, who took over the Aztec Empire and all of their wealth and sent it back to Europe.
Francisco Pizarro was an conquistador who dominated the Incas and sent the gold and silver back to
Europe. Many other Spanish people saw the wealth was brought back and thought they could get in on
the loot also. Colonization boomed after wealth came back to Spain. Another example of why wealth
was an motivator for colonization is the population increase in Europe. Since more people we re being
born, landlords we re profiting off lending land to serfs. With all the money the landlords we re
gaining, they wanted to spend that money on new, luxurious items such as cotton and sugar. Since the
demand for these products we re high, more and more people flooded to America to gain the new
exotic items that we re not previously available. Both religious conversion and desire for wealth had

I) Explain how we can deduce each of the properties and summarize the range of each property that
we see in the Solar System.
Terrestrial Planets
Mercury
 This planet consists of differentiated layers containing different levels of density.
1. Large metallic core, contains the highest level of this planets density.
2. A less dense rocky mantle
3. Surrounding the planet is an even less dense crust
 Clear almost vacant atmosphere, which makes this planet easier to view, but unable to disburse heat
or cold. Making it difficult to control the exceptionally hot temperatures, during the day, and very cold
temperatures at night. This planet uses hydrogen and helium atoms from the solar winds. Also,

This planet is mostly liquid, having a core of heavier elements. The composition of Saturn, is less
dense than water, and would literally float. Its mass is about 1/3 the of Jupiter s, and 16% smaller.
Having rings which contain pieces of icy water. The magnetic field is not determined by its axis of
rotation and is not fully understood. One of Saturn s moon is Titan .Made up of a rock like core
and a large amount of ice, its density is not compromised. This moon is almost as large as
Jupiter s Ganymede and has a thick atmosphere. Another one of Saturn s larger moons is
Phoebe. It orbits outside of Saturn, and has a dark surface and a significant number of craters. The
smaller moons of Saturn, are mostly rock and ice, and are heavily cratered.
Scientists suspect most of these moons are geologically dead. Saturn s rings are restricted by small
moons, whose collisions restock the supply. Thus, dust is found lurking of the outer rings of this
planet.
Uranus

ammonia, and water vapor, and has no surface. Small, Uranus lacks

Education is widely considered a professional field of work. However, in South Dakota it doesn t
seem to be treated like one. Funding per student in South Dakota is significantly lower than the
national amount, as well as the amount surrounding states give per student. In fact, according to the
South Dakota Budget and Policy Institute funding per student is $2,000 less in South Dakota than the
national average, and surrounding states give about $5,000 more per student than South Dakota.

Why Did Some Finches Survive
Why were some Finches able to survive while other Finches died? On the Galápagos Islands off the
coast near Ecuador we studied the behaviors of the animals, plants and environment on Daphne Major
we found that the lack of rainfall during the wet season of 1977 caused most of the plants to produce
less seeds and thus most of the medium ground finches died of starvation as their main food source
had become scarce. Although the lack of seeds some finches were able to survive with their longer and
bigger beaks. They were able to survive because their beaks were able to break open the harder and
more plentiful Tribulus seeds that survived the dry season of 1977. One piece of evidence to support
my claim is when I used the finch website to make

The Transatlantic Trade And Investment Partnership
Introduction: During the EU Parliamentary elections of May 2014, the Transatlantic Trade and
Investment Partnership (TTIP) came under much public scrutiny and has sparked a fierce debate on
the European Union competencies vis à vis member states competencies and increased the Euro
skeptics critiques of a democratic deficit within the EU. Advocates of TTIP claim that this trade deal,
if signed, would bring enormous benefits to both shores of the Atlantic, that it is a debt free economic
stimulus to the stagnant European economy and it will set a golden standard for future Free Trade
Agreements (FTAs) with third countries. Non governmental organizations (NGOs) and consumer
protection activists fear that such a deal would lower domestic health, safety and environmental
standards. Anti TTIP movements, united under the stop TTIP campaign throughout Europe, have been
using many evocative images such as American chlorine washed chicken, hormone treated meat, and
genetically modified food, to explain their opposition to a comprehensive trade agreement between the
EU and the United States. With this paper, I intend to analyze the possible impact that a TTIP
agreement could have for the Italian agricultural sector, what is at stake for it and what could be the
limits to a successful agreement. My thesis is that the Italian agricultural sector would greatly benefit
from an EU US trade agreement that would open possibilities for economic growth without new
burdens for

to expedite access to and retrieve clinical data to provide safe efficient, effective, equitable, timelier
patient centered care (HIE, 2014). HIE provides access and retrieval of patient information to

Good Faith in Australia Law Essay
Introduction
Since the early 1990s, Australian judicial system has experienced a great flux revolving around the
notion of good faith in the performance the enforcement of contracts. The leading case Renard
Construction (ME) Pty Ltd v Minister for Public Works (Renard) along with Preistly JA s judgment
commenced the controversial introduction of universal obligation of good faith in all contracts. Such
introduction was also confronted by the opposing force of the more conservative judgments, such as

Importing legislation from a nation of dissimilar jurisprudential background is likey to create
inconsistency in our current legal framework. Not only is the notion of good faith irreconcilable with
existing common law, the concept itself is vastly uncertain and open to interpretation. It has been
criticized that the misapplication of good faith in contract in US has created a state of confusion
leading to irreconcilable decisions. The definition of good faith in US has largely been uncertain; it
even has been referred as mystery . The illusory nature of good faith will have a negative impact on

there have been many studies that support theories similar to this. For example, personality and gender

Oxygen and Life Essay
Bio Lab 101

Early Atmosphere
1. How abundant was oxygen in the early atmosphere?
The earth s early atmosphere contained only small amounts of free oxygen, produced by the reaction
of water vapor with sunlight. The oxygen rich atmosphere that developed later and on which oxygen
breathing life now depends was result of the origin and spread of organisms capable of
photosynthesis.
2. What evidence do scientists have that the oxygen content of our atmosphere has increased since the

The circumstances that may have played a part in the development of these chains were the conditions
in which they were formed. They formed in small ponds that periodically heated and dried, leaving
traces of these water molecules that would play a part in producing the chains.
4. What are the characteristics of the ancestors of living cells and what could they do ?
The ancestors of living cells, also known as the forerunners , were single celled, with a ring shaped
coil of DNA. They would gather into clumps, absorb smaller molecules, rearrange them, and released
them as waste products.

Credit Derivatives in the Recent Global Financial Crisis
Credit Derivatives in the recent Global Financial Crisis 1.0 Introduction: In the recent times credit
derivatives have become a very popular financial security for investors. If we take a look at the chart
given below we can see how the popularity of credit derivatives increased in the past decade. The
maximum volume of derivatives was traded during the years 2005 to 2007 of which 2006 was the
highest at $2000bn. Then when the financial crisis occurred at the end of 2007 the trading decreased
rapidly the following two years to as low as $100bn in 2009. There has been claims from financial
critics that these credit derivative are the main factor that has lead to the almost collapse of the world

3.0 Why control measures are necessary? From the simple description of what happened during the
financial crisis as mentioned above, it is clear that the use or rather the overuse of credit derivatives
was the major cause of the collapse of the financial market. The creatively designed derivatives helped
to hedge the risks off parties involved and eventually the party held accountable for the risk would get
lost in all the complexity of each tranche. In May 2010, the Financial Times quoted Warren Buffett
with the following: Derivatives are financial weapons of mass destruction, carrying dangers that,
while now latent, are potentially lethal to the financial system (Lemer, 2010). This quote nicely
reflects the fear of some market participants and observers that credit derivatives may threaten the
stability of the financial system. The transactions of credit derivatives are not required to be disclosed
by the market participants and this opaqueness in the system can easily lead to yet another collapse in
the financial markets. Furthermore, there is no common method of documentation and thus control
measures are only self regulatory (Ayadi Behr, 2009). Sometimes government heavily subsidizes the
derivative markets making it easier for anyone to get credit derivatives cheaply. Almost one third of
OTC market trades require no margin or collateral requirements at all. Financial innovation has a bad
reputation at the moment, because exotic derivatives were one of

Analytical Essay On The Movie Selma
The United States of America, a country viewed by many as glorious and opportunistic, endured
moments in history that shall never be forgotten. Since the beginning of the Civil War in the 1800s,
the act to end slavery was gruesome and horrifying. A war was fought between the free and slave
states to eradicate slavery in the country for ever. In the year 1865, slavery was abolished, nonetheless,
the evil in many Confederate cities and states was still alive. Selma is a breath taking movie about
Martin Luther King Jr. and his fight against this evil. With death threats sent to his home, and his own
followers beaten by troopers, Dr. King never backed down. Having the right to vote is exceedingly
vital in having a voice in the government, and the kinds of laws and bills that should be passed. In the
beginning of this movie, an African American woman prepares her documents to be allowed to vote.
When she hands the documents to the white worker, he begins questioning the woman. His main
incentive is simply not give her the right to vote. The movie states that fifty percent of Selma is
African American, however, merely two percent are allowed to vote. It is the power held by white
officials that denied their vote. Many people took to the streets to peacefully protests this injustice and
inequality that loomed in the system. As stated both in the movie and the New York Review article,
people have suffered and died for the right to vote. For instance, a young man named Jimmie

during the 1930s and 1940s. Geisha literally translates into art person. Geisha are Japanese women
that are trained to entertain men with singing, dancing, and conversation. The book itself was very
accurate in a historical perspective and quite frankly, a very good read. The book opens in the first
person voice of Sayuri, the main character, and stays the same throughout the novel. Sayuri tells about
her childhood growing up in Yoroido. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He needs her to entertain a man called the Minister. Mameha, Pumpkin, and Sayuri entertain the
minister. The company gets back on its feet and Nobu wants to become Sayuri s danna. Sayuri still
didn t want Nobu to be her danna, and wanted the Chairman to instead. So she set up a plan that was
supposed to kill Nobu s affection for her. Sayuri asked Pumpkin to bring Nobu, so that he can catch
the Minister and Sayuri having sexual relations by mistake. Pumpkin, still bitter from the loss of being
the daughter of the okiya, brings the Chairman instead because she knows that Sayuri is in love with
him. Back in Gion, which reopened, Sayuri reluctantly waited for Nobu to come and perform the
ceremony that made Nobu her danna. The Chairman showed up instead. He explained that he had
feelings for her, but hid them because of Nobu. He had told Nobu what had happened and Nobu was
unable to forgive her. Since Nobu would not forgive her, he wasn t meant to be Sayuri s destiny, the
Chairman explained. Now the Chairman can be Sayuri s danna. She loves being the Chairman s
danna. He takes her on several trips to the United States. She wants to live in New York and open a tea

still happy because of the life they spent together. Since then her life has been all embracing and still
filled with joy.

Analysis of The Bluest Eye and Other Works
The story I read independently is called The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. The story is told by two
narrators: Claudia Macteer who is a grown woman reflecting back on her childhood, and an unknown
narrator. This Novel is about how America s standards of beauty affect African Americans. In this
novel the community has accepted blond hair, blue eyes, and light skin, as the only forms of beauty
and they pass these beliefs onto their children. This theme is very prevalent in today s society because
the media portrays it often through things like People s Most Beautiful Woman. Lupita Nyong o was
named people s most beautiful woman. She is the first Kenyan most beautiful woman as well as the
first most beautiful woman with dark skin. When Lupita ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They both share the themes of how America s standards of beauty affect African Americans in the
bluest eye Claudia remembers being given white baby dolls to play with and how all the adults talked
about how adorable Shirley Temple and she always wondered what made them so much better. In
Their Eyes Were Watching God Janie is held in such high regard in Eatonville primarily because of
her looks and praised by Mrs. Turner for her white features (page 144). To strengthen this theme both
novels have hair as a symbol. Janie s hair is a symbol of her strength and in The Bluest Eye people
with straight hair are praised because that is what is seen as beautiful. Also due to both books being
about African American woman there is a theme of powerlessness in both novels although Janie did
get some power from her Caucasian features, she was still controlled by all three of her husbands in
one way or another. Likewise in The Bluest Eye Claudia is powerless because she is a child who is
black and poor. This is shown when Claudia talks about how the adults introduced her to strangers as
if she was a piece of furniture. When Claudia spoke on how the adults amused Claudia would like a
Caucasian baby doll for Christmas when all she wanted was to hear some music, hold some flowers
and eat a peach on Christmas day it reminded me of how Joe Starks brought Janie all of the nice
clothing and candy

CAUSES OF NON COMUNICABLE DISESASE Risk factors such as a person s background;
lifestyle and environment are known to increase the likelihood of certain non communicable diseases.
They include age, sex, genetics, exposure to air pollution, and behaviours such as smoking, unhealthy
diet and physical inactivity which can lead to hypertension and obesity, in turn leading to increased
risk of many NCDs.[4] Most NCDs are considered preventable because they are caused by modifiable
risk factors. The WHO s World Health Report 2002 identified five important risk factors for non
communicable disease in the top ten leading risks to health. These are raised blood pressure, raised
cholesterol, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and overweight.[5] Other factors associated with
higher risk of NCDs include a person s economic and social conditions, also known as the social
determinants of health. It has been estimated that if the primary risk factors were eliminated, 80% of
the cases of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes and 40% of cancers could be prevented.
Interventions targeting the main risk factors could have a significant impact on reducing the burden of
disease worldwide. Efforts focused on better diet and increased physical activity have

The Pros And Cons Of Prison Incarceration
Regardless of what you might see on TV the verdict of not guilty by the reason of insanity is an
immensely rare plea for anyone. A majority of offenders with a mental illness still end up incarcerated.
Even though the United States only makes up 5% of the world s population we account for 25% of the
world s prisoners. Which converts to 2.2 million prisoners and about 1.2 million of those people have
a mental illness (Fellner). Mental illness within our jails and prisons has become very prevalent within
our correctional systems over the last 10 years. The number of men and women who have a mental
illness that end up in jail or prison grows day by day. For those who do not go into the prison with a
mental illness, will very likely develop some form of mental illness after being released from
incarceration. The mentally ill do not belong in prison, the purpose for incarceration is retribution,
incapacitation, deterrence and rehabilitation, and though it is originally meant for all of these
purposes, it has lost its meaning. Correctional facilities are not built to provide treatment for the
mentally ill, and the people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness cannot get the long term
treatment they need inside of a prison cell. A significant number of people who come into prison have
a variety of mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, major depression, and manic depression.
Approximately 5 6% of prison inmates have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, these people

The Political And Cultural Unrest Of The Middle East Essay
For over a decade the United States has been entrenched in a war to resolve the political and cultural
unrest in the Middle East. For many, the country of Turkey is the crucible of this region where the
intersections of the main religious and cultural elements collide. Additionally, as a crossroads to
Europe from Asia, Africa and the entire Middle East, Turkey remains an inherently important country
due to its strategic geographic location. The pressures that are exerted on Turkey over the past century
have led many within its borders to question its allegiances and the destiny of the country. Should it
maintain the status quo based on the post WWI political borders or should it pursue a return to times
of the Ottoman Empire when it sat as the seat of power for what many would consider the Caliphate
that presided over those lands at the time? As a strategic crossroads in many aspects, Turkey will
remain important to United States policy in the region.
As the United States Secretary of State, I propose two courses of action (COAs) to aid in the pursuit of
U.S. interests in both Turkey and the region: first, strengthening the military partnership and
enhancing the economic collaboration benefiting the U.S. and Turkey and keeping them on the path of
western style democracy with close ties with the United States; second, using diplomacy and
information to increase Turkey s participation with western organizations and highlight the benefits of
the partnerships while also

The Debate Between Creation And Evolution
The debate between creation and evolution has been around for a long time. For much of it, it has
presented a choice between the two. Some claim that you either believe in God or evolution, not both.
Others, that you have to choose young earth creationism simply because theistic evolution is not a
viable option. Still more present young earth creationism as a naive understanding of both the Bible
and science. However, since each position has evidence in support of it and against it, it is in no way
true that any of them present us with an undeniable position of definite accuracy. Furthermore, the
idea that there is only a choice between creation and evolution is false. Indeed, there are more
positions than even creationism and theistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is for this reason that the debate is also not between science and Christianity. Each advocate for each
position is attempting to reconcile the apparent differences between science and Christianity. It is
simply the case that they each take a different approach and give different amounts of authority to
science and a literal interpretation of Genesis.
The first position is that of young earth creationism. Additionally, this is what most people mean when
referring to creationism. This is primarily due to the fact that the creationists visible in the public eye
during the creation evolution debate were most likely to hold young earth creationist views.
Additionally, the terms recent earth or recent creation have been used to refer to this same position.
These terms clearly define their position as one in which the creation of the world occurred somewhat
recently, that is, the world is young. However, it obviously doesn t provide us with much information
beyond that. To begin with, how young is the world? In order to help answer this and other questions
concerning young earth creationism, biologist and philosopher of science Paul Nelson and philosopher
John Mark Reynolds, both fellows of the Center for Science and Culture under the Discovery Institute,

Fear, Guilt, and Regret in Macbeth by William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth the reader watches as Macbeth changes gradually as the play
endures. He are transforms from a loyal person with a loving and loyal disposition with other people,
into a tyrants who are willing to kill in order to keep himself on the throne. He is tormented with fear,
regret, and guilt. When someone does something they know is wrong it causes them to fall prey to
their own emotions. After Duncan s death you are able to see how the characters involved in the
murder almost instantly experience feelings of regret. There is a scene where Macbeth is in shock so
greatly after murdering Duncan, that he forgets to leave the murder weapon behind. When confronted
by Lady Macbeth(who says he needs to go return the weapons) he says, I ll go no more: / I am afraid
to think what I have done; / Look on t again I dare not ( 2.2 53 55). This allows us to see how Macbeth
is pained by what he has done. Macbeth also says he heard a voice say Glamis hath murdered sleep,
and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more. Macbeth shall sleep no more. ( 2.2 46 48). When Macbeth
says this he is saying that he has not only murdered Duncan, but he has murdered sleep. He is saying
he won t be able to sleep after what he has just done because he will regret it forever and it will haunt
him. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are interrupted by knocking on the door and as Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth walk away he says, Wake Duncan with thy knocking; I would though couldst. ( 2.2 78 79).

Comparing My American Dream
I would define my American Dream as having my dream job of becoming a neurosurgeon, marrying
the man of my dreams, having a beautiful family, living life to the fullest and being happy while doing
everything. I also have always wanted to travel the world and see many different places. I want to be
very successful in life and to be able to do whatever I can for my family. My biggest part of my dream
is to have fun no matter what I m doing, who I m doing it with, or where I m doing it. All of these
little dreams make up the American Dream that I have always had ever since I was a little kid. The
first thing that I would want to accomplish is getting a good job that can always financially support
me, even if there is a downfall in the economy. I have always wanted to be a neurosurgeon but now

controversy. This is because I myself am not a fan of meat and do not like the taste personally, but I
also do not think it is all right by any means with what they do to the animals. I believe that they are
completely abusing these animals so carelessly and it is extreme animal cruelty. I feel like a majority
of other people would say it is perfectly fine though. This is because many people do like meat and
businesses are going to continue on harming the animals and receiving their meat and selling it to

PETA is also trying their best to make a big deal out of this and draw as much attention as possible for
the animal s own rights and simply to raise awareness on the ongoing problem. I think PETA is
representing a truth with the business and they do have the right to make attacks to get them to make
the change.
6) I absolutely 100% believe that animals have rights because they are alive just like us human beings
are. Animals definitely have emotions and feelings just like we do and can also speak out lout but we
necessarily cannot always figure out what they are trying to portray. I believe since we are human
beings, we should be the ones to make sure animals are safe and can live without being harmed in the
wild or as pets, in other words that can be looked at as our duty.
From the reading of the case and how PETA portrayed KFC being cruel and not handling their
chickens respectfully, I do not think that they protect animal welfare at an acceptable level. They can
definitely make they changes that PETA stated about the business. Either way, many people are going
to have different perspectives about this and may think that what KFC is doing is completely fine
because they are making

Evaluate the effectiveness of the criminal trial process in achieving justice
Justice is the concept of moral rightness that is based on equality, access and fairness. This means that
the law is applied equally, understood by all people and does not have a particularly harsh effect on an

Contamination can occur when transferring DNA or the collection of DNA evidence. In the case
involving Mr. Farah, he was wrongful charged of rape although he had appealed in the High Court
with the basis of the scientists not having said he was undisputedly the perpetrator. The scientists said
that it was a very small chance that it was not Mr. Farah which he argued was still a reasonable doubt.
The judges dismissed the case within twenty minutes but it was later found that the evidence was
contaminated. Other examples include R v. Rendell (1999) and R v. Carroll (2002.)Though technology
is advancing, the process of collecting, processing and analyzing DNA has faults. There needs to be
more training, procedures and checks put in place for the system to be effective. Faults in evidence

access to allow him to refute the claims and lead to wrongful convictions.
Miscarriage of justice is not just framed around contaminated evidence but also by the fact that juries
misinterpret information and instructions which result in an incorrect verdict. Voting for the verdict
previously had to be unanimous until 2006, when the Juries (Amendment) Act 2006 (NSW). Although
majority verdict allows for quicker and easier verdicts, less pressure to conform and eliminates a
rogue juror, there has been much criticism as the point of the trial to prove standard of proof that the

Personal Injury In Sports Essay
Personal Injuries That Can Happen At The Ballpark
Have you ever read the disclaimer on the back of your ticket to a baseball games? It says that there is a
chance that foul balls or bats can go into the stands during the game, and you assume the risk of injury
by purchasing a ticket to the baseball game. Does this mean that you are out of luck if you are injured
in a freak accident while enjoying a game? The law may actually be on your side in this situation.
There are only a few cases where the courts sided with the stadiums or sports teams in personal injury
cases, since fans often win their case or settle outside of court. For instance, there was a 2002 case

Broken Bats
It s possible that a bat could shatter upon impact with the ball, causing pieces of wood to go flying into
the stands. While not as common as a foul ball, it poses a serious risk of injury to those attending the
game. Any injury suffered from a broken bat is worth pursuing legal action to compensate you for the
damages.
An incident in Boston caused a man to be struck by pieces of a broken bat while sitting along the foul
lines between home plate and 1st base. This incident has actually caused the ballpark to re evaluate
how far the safety nets extend, which is an indication that something could have been done to prevent
the injury from occurring. Currently, safety nets do not extend to the dugouts, which is an area prone
to projectiles at a high speed.
Injuries at the ballpark are not just limited to projectiles flying into the stadium, but can also be caused
by a slip and fall. If you are in need of help getting the compensation you deserve for a personal injury
case at the ballpark, don t assume you are out of luck because of that disclaimer on the ticket. Know

Compare And Contrast The Whiskey Rebellion And Shays...

APUSH Section 3
1. Compare and contrast the Whiskey rebellion to Shays rebellion. How would the differing results
inform a historian of the power of the Federal Government in comparison to the Articles of
Confederation and the Constitution? (page 187).
Shays Rebellion began because of the economic depression, insufficient harvests, and high duties,
lead to farmers being seized and thrown in jail if they were unable to pay their taxes. This angered a
large group in Massachusetts and a man named Daniel Shay, a Revolutionary war veteran, to arrange
protests against the government. The Whiskey rebellion was triggered when George Washington s
government placed a tax on distilled alcohol and whiskey. Protesters showed their discontent by
tarring and feathering revenue officers, similar to those during the anti stamp act days. Although both
rebellions were challenging the government, Shay s Rebellion revealed the weaknesses of the Articles
of Confederation as the national government could not tax, enforce laws or raise money for an army.
Already weakened by the Revolutionary War, the Articles of Confederation could not defend against
the rebellion. Unlike the outcome of Shays rebellion, George Washington lead an army of militia to
immediately put down the rebellion which lead to his government being strengthened and gaining
respect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Is The Theme In Psalm 23
The heart is the greatest weapon any warrior holds because when it is connected to God it makes one
undefeatable. David, who had a heart for God, would create some of the most beautiful symbolic
themes in his psalms by combining his faith and love of the Lord with everyday settings that he was
familiar with during his time. The symbolic theme of Psalm 23 identifies David as both a shepherd
and sheep by creating a peaceful mood through the tranquil settings.
Theme
Although this psalm is often recited at funerals or solemn occasions, the original theme that David
established in Psalm 23 is faith and assurance in the Lord. This is determined by the very first line of
this poem David allows the reader to see himself as a servant of the Lord and not the great King of
Israel, The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing (Psalm 23:1 NIV). As David continues Psalm 23 , he
starts building on the assurance of putting his full trust into God. The use of the words made and lead

His metaphorical use of saying that the Lord is a shepherd, while considering himself a sheep is very
ironic because he is combining his past life experience with the theme and settings of this psalm.
David describes the detailed work a shepherd must do to provide security and disciple his flock by
saying the Lord s rod and staff comfort me (Psalm 23:4 NIV). As a shepherd David understood the
importance of finding his lost sheep, because without the protection of their shepherd they would have
to face the world alone. David carefully reflects this into the mood of Psalm 23 , so the reader can gain
an understanding of how God will not let His sheep stray too far. David allows the reader to gain a
true sense of feeling protected and guided because he states that God s hands will guide them

The Pros And Cons Of Overdeliver
Marketing and sales gurus, established coaches and other business experts chant
the same mantra...
Overdeliver, overdeliver, overdeliver.
You need to exceed expectations to overdeliver when you work with your

But I m not one to accept advice just because it s common or popular...
It s good to evaluate and analyze everything you hear and read based on your

This way, you don t get caught up in short lived trends or ideas that may harm
more than help your business.

The coach tells the client to create this list so they can discuss it during a follow

The client fails to do this. So the coach comes up with ideas for the client during

In this all too common scenario, the coach does the client s work and the client
ends up with a great list of program ideas without having to do any of the
creative thinking or research.
Does this feel familiar?
If you do the work for your clients you are teaching them to depend on you.
You re demonstrating that they don t have the capability or the creativity to do
what it takes to create success in their own lives...
And without even meaning to, you ll end up disempowering your clients.
No matter how tempting it is, never do the work for your clients in the name of
overdelivering.
Instead hold your clients accountable for the work they must do so they can
create results they want in their lives.
If your goal is to overdeliver and exceed your clients expectations, pick just one
thing and be very specific...

Monsanto is a company that provides the largest producer of genetically engineered seeds (Neuman). Monsanto s corporation is a danger to our health and environment. Monsanto Company started off its chemical business in 1997, Monsanto traces its roots to John Francisco Queeny, a purchaser for a wholesale drug house, who formed the Monsanto Chemical Works in St. Louis, Missouri (Barboza). Companies, like Monsanto will come after small farms and sue them for more than they can pay if they find out they are using even a small portion of GM crops in their fields, even if by accident (Fitzgerald). Approximately 2,400 farmers in 19 states through 2006 were sued and spied upon for alleged seed piracy , Monsanto has an annual budget of $10 million dollars and a staff of 75 devoted solely to investigating and prosecuting farmers who are caught with different seed. (Monsanto). It doesn t help that Monsanto also has power in politics, one of the Monsanto chiefs for food safety, Michael Taylor was actually appointed by Barrack Obama himself. Barrack Obama also appointed his Supreme Court judge: Elena Kagan, who happens to be the chief defender of Monsanto and GMO s. Whether Republican or Democratic, Monsanto wields a strong power within politics that helps give them an edge in keeping their company going. (Obama). There are good aspects of Monsanto, like the efficiency of cheap seeds, and crops that can withstand the harsh behaviors of weathers, and the ability the crops have to survive a longer time. But not even the cheapest crops can cover up Monsanto s long history of evil, from polluting the environment with PCB s, the chemical Agent Orange, and the weed killer Round Up Ready , to Monopolizing itself to being the owner of 90% of the seed industry and shutting down small ... • 4. Summary Of The Art Of Living Consciously By Nathaniel Branden In 1999, Nathaniel Branden published a very influential book called The Art of Living Consciously. This book discussed various ways one can build their self esteem. This is one of many of Branden s books on self esteem but this one is focusing on the aspect of living consciously. He promotes this as the idea of living consciously as a healthy aspect of self esteem in a person s mental abilities and respect for reality. He applies his theory of living consciously to specific aspects of life such as relationships, parenting, and in the workplace. Branden portrays his ideas in a very approachable way, many of his sentences seem somewhat open ended so you can you relate it your everyday life. For example, he states What determines the level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explains to use how we may be able to live consciously and how we can shift our focus from consciously living; the flipping the switch as mentioned earlier. He explains that what can help us all live this way is by knowing what we are doing while we are doing it. Though this may seem like a very simple task but one that would require some discipline. One of the interesting aspects of Branden s work is that he walks us through situations we would encounter in our everyday lives and then has the reader ask themselves questions like How can we be more conscious in this area? and How can we tell we are doing right? This helps the reader feel more connected with his writing. They may be able to envision how they can live more conscious and their life and become more aware of how to living this way. Some of the topics Branden really highlighted throughout his book was the importance of reason and the commitment of awareness. But he s does this in such a desirable approach, he does not try to validate his points instead he examines life starting from child and shows how things in life could have affected your way to practice the principles to live in this state. He writes about the lives of himself and other involved in his life and puts us in situations showing that to be more aware of the reality around you can make yourself stand out to others who bury themselves in unconsciousness. Yet his way of displaying this message is so approachable because he discourages the common idea that reason rather than experience is the key to knowledge and he also speaks to you through your experiences that really make you think. This really helps bring the reader closer to the experience Branden is try to put forth and the stories, exercises and discussions really help portray that message. Instead of describing the good life, he invites us into discover this life for ourselves which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the wealth that was brought from the Americas came at a cost. The suffering and enslavement of the Native people and the transportation of Africans to America to be used as slaves alongside the Natives. Many motivations were used to support this extraction of wealth and treatment of the Natives and Africans, however two are easily verifiable. The Spanish colonization from 1492 to 1700 was motivated by religious conversion of all peoples in America and the desire for wealth and profit that had a significant impact on the lives of Native Americans and Africans. On the Galápagos Islands off the coast near Ecuador we studied the behaviors of the animals, plants and environment on Daphne Major we found that the lack of rainfall during the wet season of 1977 caused most of the plants to produce less seeds and thus most of the medium ground finches died of starvation as their main food source had become scarce. • 10. The Transatlantic Trade And Investment Partnership Introduction: During the EU Parliamentary elections of May 2014, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) came under much public scrutiny and has sparked a fierce debate on the European Union competencies vis à vis member states competencies and increased the Euro skeptics critiques of a democratic deficit within the EU. Advocates of TTIP claim that this trade deal, if signed, would bring enormous benefits to both shores of the Atlantic, that it is a debt free economic stimulus to the stagnant European economy and it will set a golden standard for future Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with third countries. Non governmental organizations (NGOs) and consumer protection activists fear that such a deal would lower domestic health, safety and environmental standards. Anti TTIP movements, united under the stop TTIP campaign throughout Europe, have been using many evocative images such as American chlorine washed chicken, hormone treated meat, and genetically modified food, to explain their opposition to a comprehensive trade agreement between the EU and the United States. With this paper, I intend to analyze the possible impact that a TTIP agreement could have for the Italian agricultural sector, what is at stake for it and what could be the limits to a successful agreement. My thesis is that the Italian agricultural sector would greatly benefit from an EU US trade agreement that would open possibilities for economic growth without new burdens for ... Credit Derivatives in the Recent Global Financial Crisis Credit Derivatives in the recent Global Financial Crisis 1.0 Introduction: In the recent times credit derivatives have become a very popular financial security for investors. If we take a look at the chart given below we can see how the popularity of credit derivatives increased in the past decade. The maximum volume of derivatives was traded during the years 2005 to 2007 of which 2006 was the highest at $2000bn. Then when the financial crisis occurred at the end of 2007 the trading decreased rapidly the following two years to as low as $100bn in 2009. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3.0 Why control measures are necessary? From the simple description of what happened during the financial crisis as mentioned above, it is clear that the use or rather the overuse of credit derivatives was the major cause of the collapse of the financial market. The creatively designed derivatives helped to hedge the risks off parties involved and eventually the party held accountable for the risk would get lost in all the complexity of each tranche. In May 2010, the Financial Times quoted Warren Buffett with the following: Derivatives are financial weapons of mass destruction, carrying dangers that, while now latent, are potentially lethal to the financial system (Lemer, 2010). This quote nicely reflects the fear of some market participants and observers that credit derivatives may threaten the stability of the financial system. The transactions of credit derivatives are not required to be disclosed by the market participants and this opaqueness in the system can easily lead to yet another collapse in the financial markets. Furthermore, there is no common method of documentation and thus control measures are only self regulatory (Ayadi Behr, 2009). Sometimes government heavily subsidizes the derivative markets making it easier for anyone to get credit derivatives cheaply. Almost one third of OTC market trades require no margin or collateral requirements at all. Financial innovation has a bad reputation at the moment, because exotic derivatives were one of ... • 21. Analytical Essay On The Movie Selma The United States of America, a country viewed by many as glorious and opportunistic, endured moments in history that shall never be forgotten. Since the beginning of the Civil War in the 1800s, the act to end slavery was gruesome and horrifying. A war was fought between the free and slave states to eradicate slavery in the country for ever. In the year 1865, slavery was abolished, nonetheless, the evil in many Confederate cities and states was still alive. Selma is a breath taking movie about Martin Luther King Jr. and his fight against this evil. With death threats sent to his home, and his own followers beaten by troopers, Dr. King never backed down. Having the right to vote is exceedingly vital in having a voice in the government, and the kinds of laws and bills that should be passed. In the beginning of this movie, an African American woman prepares her documents to be allowed to vote. When she hands the documents to the white worker, he begins questioning the woman. His main incentive is simply not give her the right to vote. The movie states that fifty percent of Selma is African American, however, merely two percent are allowed to vote. It is the power held by white officials that denied their vote. Many people took to the streets to peacefully protests this injustice and inequality that loomed in the system. As stated both in the movie and the New York Review article, people have suffered and died for the right to vote. For instance, a young man named Jimmie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is told by two narrators: Claudia Macteer who is a grown woman reflecting back on her childhood, and an unknown narrator. This Novel is about how America s standards of beauty affect African Americans. In this novel the community has accepted blond hair, blue eyes, and light skin, as the only forms of beauty and they pass these beliefs onto their children. In Their Eyes Were Watching God Janie is held in such high regard in Eatonville primarily because of her looks and praised by Mrs. Turner for her white features (page 144). To strengthen this theme both novels have hair as a symbol. Janie s hair is a symbol of her strength and in The Bluest Eye people with straight hair are praised because that is what is seen as beautiful. Also due to both books being about African American woman there is a theme of powerlessness in both novels although Janie did get some power from her Caucasian features, she was still controlled by all three of her husbands in one way or another. Likewise in The Bluest Eye Claudia is powerless because she is a child who is black and poor. This is shown when Claudia talks about how the adults introduced her to strangers as if she was a piece of furniture. How would the differing results inform a historian of the power of the Federal Government in comparison to the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution? (page 187). Shays Rebellion began because of the economic depression, insufficient harvests, and high duties, lead to farmers being seized and thrown in jail if they were unable to pay their taxes. This angered a large group in Massachusetts and a man named Daniel Shay, a Revolutionary war veteran, to arrange protests against the government. The Whiskey rebellion was triggered when George Washington s government placed a tax on distilled alcohol and whiskey. Protesters showed their discontent by tarring and feathering revenue officers, similar to those during the anti stamp act days. Although both rebellions were challenging the government, Shay s Rebellion revealed the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation as the national government could not tax, enforce laws or raise money for an army.
