Cyrano De Bergerac Character Analysis
In the play, Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostant, there are many characters in the book; but our
focus is on Cyrano de Bergerac. His admirability lies in his willingness to please others. It may be
because he is very self conscious, so he thinks that no one will ever like let alone love him. In the play,
Cyrano is in love with his cousin, Roxane. But Roxane is in love with Christian, and Christian
Roxane. Cyrano ends up setting Christian up with Roxane, while Cyrano writes all the romantic lines
for Christian to woo Roxane (Christian is terrible at love poems). Christian gets married to Roxane
right before the men have to leave for war. Days later, Roxane comes to the war camp, and the same
day Christian finds out that Cyrano also loves Roxane.

An Important Skill For First And Second Language Learners
1. INTRODUCTION
Reading is an important skill for first and second language learners. Failing to learn to read and write
in the early years results in poor self esteem for learners than any other cause (Casey, 2001). Computer
technology proved to have many advantages for students with learning difficulties, including
motivational aspects and development of fine motor skills (Casey, 2001).
A review of the reading research in L1 and L2 on the effect of a variety of technologies on students
achievement has shown two contradictory findings. The fist line of research found that use of
technology had no significant effect on students reading skill development. Computer assisted
instruction had no effect on the reading achievement of 3rd 6th grade students in a low socio
economic status community. No significant differences were also found between boys and girls
reading achievement (Hamilton, 1995). In another study, Martindale, Pearson, Curda Pilcher (2005)
found that 5th grade students who used computer based and web based software applications (FCAT
Explorer) scored significantly higher on the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) than
elementary school students who did not use the FCAT Explorer. At the high school level, no
significant differences in scores were found between students who used the FCAT Explorer and those
who did not use it. In a third study, Humble (2000) found that when 2nd grade students used the

Woolworths
1. Executive Summary
The purpose of this report is to provide a strategic analysis of Woolworths in its Australian retailing
and grocery industry. There are some external factors can be affected to Woolworths strategy. To be
analyzed how these factors impact to Woolworths strategies we would use Porter forces five models as
a framework for analysis. They are threats of new entrants and substitute products, rivalry among
competing established competitors, threat of substitutes and bargaining power of Woolworths
suppliers and customers.
This report also provides the company situation analysis which will be analyzed the internal
environments of Woolworths. In this analysis, we will use SWOT analysis which includes the
strengths, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some reasons can be explained for this reason. Firstly, Woolworths have a high market share
in the industry. In addition, its business size is very big which includes Australian overall market and
some other foreign markets. A lot of selling stores around Australia are good example. Moreover, the
expensive start up costs are another barrier for new competitors. Finally, the high annual profit of
Woolworths is hard for others to enter the retail and grocery industry in Australia.
3.2 Rivalry among established companies
The Australian retail and grocery industry has a high level of concentration ratio because the available
of some major competitors competing in the industry such as Woolworths Ltd, Myer or Coles
(Beaumont, 2004). It means Woolworths have a high concentration of market share in the Australian
retail and grocery industry. In addition, the intensity of those strong competitors is boosting
Woolworths Ltd have been continuously creating a competitive advantage. Using effective strategy
such as low price, selling fresh food, and 24 hour delivery service, Woolworths Ltd and its
subsidiaries such as Safeway, Dicksmith and so on are continuously competing with other rivals for a
strong position in the industry (Porter, 1979).
3.3 Bargaining powers of buyers
Woolworth s customers have a highly powerful bargaining power. The reason is most of Woolworths
selling goods are from individual customers. They can

George Meredith s View On Modern Love Poetry
The poets view on modern love is scary because he uses death to represent love how someone feels
when the one they love dies and they don t know what to do with their self and all they can do it just
sit and mope around looking for a way to get over it but can t until death take over them. By this he
knew she wept with waking eyes George Meredith. When her husband died she didn t know what to
do but, he knew every night that she would lay awake crying because she misses him. Modern love
feels like death and strangled mute, like little gaping snakes, Dreadfully venomous to him. George

Rhetorical Analysis Of Drafting The Elderly By David Rothkopf
Aaron Jeu
Instructor Acevedo
English 100
23 June 2015
Drafting the Elderly into Service, Just Kidding From time to time, this question may run through a
younger individual s mind: What good are old people for? American society stereotypes the elderly as
unwell, feeble, unproductive and even a financial burden to the government and families. In the
layered excerpt, A Proposal to Draft America s Elderly, author David Rothkopf utilizes literary devices
such as syntax, sarcastic tone, and style to stimulate discussion over how the nation is unsure of what
to do with the elderly. However, Rothkopf fails to realize that America s infrastructure and labor force
is already designed to continue to support these individuals in retirement. In the beginning of his
introduction, Rothkopf engages the audience in comical imagery to begin his proposition for drafting
the elderly. He describes the elderly as bikers with long grey ponytails and men on beaches who are
long past the age when they should be seen in Speedos (Page 53). He ... Show more content on

He utilizes an outlandishly, ironic tone to stir up emotion and thoughts about how America should
handle its elderly citizens. In his ninth paragraph, he states, it is unavoidable that conflicts do occur,
were we to field an army of the elderly, we would eliminate war s greatest tragedy (Page 54). The idea
of putting the elderly to war is absurd and would imply that they are physically capable of combat as
well as being better suited than the young. Another instance of his sarcasm can be located in the
beginning of his last paragraph. With confidence, Rothkopf states, given the obvious merits of such a
program, I think it is fair that no man or woman take issue with it unless he or she has a superior idea
(Page 54). By mentioning this, he enables the audience to ponder and take its own stance on the

Essay on Canine Human Relations
Is dog s worth to humans simply as man s best friend? Throughout history, dogs have been protectors,
companions, and pets. However, science is saying that there is much more to these creatures. Dogs

with humans makes them more than just pets because dogs interact like human children and canines

dogs have been able to detect certain types of illness and were able to react towards the illness in a
form that was comforting to the patient. Animal helped therapy is still young in how well it can be
overall. However, research is showing more interest from the therapy world due to the positive
reaction, it is having on the patients (Doctor s Dog Will See You Now 1). Dog s connection to humans

Video Games Can Be Good For People
The debate has started ever since there were tests when the first console has been released to take
home and play in the living room. Ever since then scientists study them to find out if video games are
bad for a person s health, and if playing them for an excessive amount of time has a change in one s
health. The tests that researchers study will inform people about gaming and how it changes their
health, but there will still be millions of people playing video games. There are many people who love
to play and even play video games for a living, but there are many people who disagree with video
games. Many of the people who disagree with video games are mainly parents who see their kids
playing them, but there are more than just parents who do not like them. There are many other
disagreements about video games that people think harm someone s health and relationships. I think
video games can be good for people and that they can even relieve stress to a point, but anyone
playing video games needs to know when to take a break or stop playing. Many people who do not
like video games because they are too violent only see the violent games and not much more. It is
usually the parents who buy their kid a game and do not realize that it is too violent and then they hate
the video games. I agree that video games should not be played by kids, but that is why there is a
game rating. This game rating shows what ages are recommended for playing specific games, it even

The Tell-Tale Heart, A Rose For Emily, And The Lottery
Horror is a strong feeling of fear, disgust, or shock. Many different examples of horror stories exist;
horror stories are unique in their own way, and very few are similar. It is in many stories, movies, and
even in real life. For example, movie theaters always have a horror film showing, which shows that
they are very common and enjoyed thoroughly by people young and old. Many short stories include
horror, as well, including The Tell Tale Heart, A Rose for Emily, and The Lottery. Horror is developed
in the stories listed, and they are extremely unique in their own ways.
To begin, the horror develops through the murder of the old man in The Tell Tale Heart. The author

They find that there is an imprint in the bed, an imprint that fits Miss Emily s body perfectly. Miss
Emily is a perfect example of a horror story s main character, and it is a great example of horror.
Lastly, horror is developed in the short story, The Lottery. Everything about this story is horror. The
whole story is based on a community with a village wide event where there is a sacrifice each year.
Not even that, but many enjoy the lottery. The town officials have the kids come first to pick up their
stones and get ready for the lottery. That is kind of twisted in itself, to make the kids participate in an
act of murder that they do not truly understand. When Mrs. Hutchinson gets chosen for the lottery, the
way they approach it very confident. They go right into the killing, the story states, It isn t fair, she
said. A stone hit her on the side of the head. ... It isn t fair, it isn t right Mrs. Hutchinson screamed, and
then they were upon her. (para. 77 and 78) This act shows tradition; it is what the whole village is used
to. The people of the village have no other outlook on society, so they believe that a sacrifice has no
issue. The lottery is a fantastic example of a horror story, will all of the grim violence involved.
Horror is developed in many different ways, and horror stories are unique in their own ways. From the

Male Dominance In Susan Glaspell s Trifles
Mark Twain, in 1888, stated that both marriage and death ought to be welcome: the one promises
happiness, doubtless the other assures it. Under the law during this time period, marriage was
considered a completely different institution than what state it is known to be today. To have a
marriage with several of the same controlling aspects during this day and age would be described as
abusive. In Susan Glaspell s play, Trifles, Glaspell demonstrates male dominance, female oppression
as well as female insubordination during the early 1900 s effectively by revealing the unhealthy
relationship, between John Wright and Minnie Wright that produced a farmhouse murder. This fatal
occurrence is investigated by their neighbor Lewis Hale and wife Mrs. ... Show more content on

Wright not only practiced male dominance on his wife, he additionally abused her, (his) hands aren t
always as clean as they should be (Glaspell 1389) Mrs. Hale stated when the men were briefly looking
through and became dissatisfied with the appearance of Minnie s kitchen. Glaspell exposed the
maltreatment early on by providing hints of foreshadowing and thus allowed the viewer to notice that
Mr. Wrights actions were saturated with female oppression. During the reign over his wife, Mr. Wright
destroyed her natural identity and denied Minnie of her individuality within the marriage. She was no

Mr. Wright killed her spirit and the bird, which Minnie adored, that Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters

resulted in the life altering decision, to endure the abuse or to alter her current position. Due to her

Summary of Week 1 class 1 Introduction to Case Management
Summary of Week 1 class 1 Introduction to Case Management To start off our information for the first
class one must define Case Management. Case Management is a course of action for a situation
involving an individual and the implementation of such a program; specifically, the process by which
all health related matters of a case are managed by a health professional. This definition basically
states that Case Management is way for people in a down trot part of life to have a plan of attack
which can used to help correct their issues at hand, often this involves at minimum another person or
group of people to help the troubled person. A slight background will be given as followed to
introduce case management. To begin with the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Maybe their rich and over protective parents never exposed their kid to the outside world, hence
leaving them incapable of dealing with people.) Often people will come to a case manager with
multiple issues and require an assortment of different services to meet their needs and be fulfilled.
(Woodside, McClam 27)
Another principle that one should be aware of is known as continuity of care. There are two parts to
this principle, the first one states that from the beginning of time when a client calls the case
manager/agency to the very end and beyond the ending of the care by providing a short term line of
assistance if necessary. The second part of this principle pretty much states that the case manager
maintains a persistent involvement within the client s life in the aspect of keeping a positive
connection with the family, significant other, and helping to make sure the established treatment
continues to be efficient. Hence checking up and keeping in touch. Just as equality has always been an
important desire in this country, case management is no different. (Woodside, McClam 29)
Therefore Equal access to services/advocacy is a very important part of case management. No matter
where one comes from, their race, creed, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and any other ways
people try

The Future Of Homelessness In Canada
This article (originally a speech) talks about how homelessness has been an issue in Canada in the past
but is also an issue Canada faces today and how the future of homelessness in its society depends on
the actions taken today. Specific information given in the article includes going back as far as 1960
with specific examples of how the Canadian government has been dealing with the issue through the
ages. Giving direct quotes from government documents and speeches to statistics, it is divided to into
three main categories: past, present, and future (and further going into sub categories from there).

how factors such as ethnicity, immigration status, disability can change the way poverty affects the

find information relevant to their research by simply looking at the contents list (and the subheadings
listed under different chapters). The introduction is concise and formal, however there is not a titled
conclusion, rather the last section summarizes the points given. This report does not have a definitive

America s Justification For Surveillance And Spy Activity
The National Security Agency of the United States has created a confidential surveillance program
named PRISM, operating as the world s largest Planning Tool for Resource Integration,
Synchronization, and Management . This program is designed to gather and process foreign
intelligence that travels through the United States, by extracting data from some of the world s largest
tech companies and its users. The United States describes itself as the Worlds telecommunications
backbone , which was explicitly listed in the leaked PowerPoint presentation of PRISM s operation.
By going undercover and secretively accessing file transfers, e mails, videos, call logs and numerous
other types of data, the United States government is enabling a watch dog on its citizens and creating
the largest terrorist regime. These PowerPoint slides behold some very disturbing information in how
U.S citizens are being deprived of privacy, leading to loss of agency. Restricting individuals to be
watched all the time turns the human race into robots, as individuality is lost, and liberty and freedom
begins to diminish. America s justification for surveillance and spy activity since 9/11 was to fight
terrorism and protect the population, but these documents have nothing to do with capturing foreign

John Michael Malins V Solicitors Regulation Authority Case...
Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835 (Admin)
2017 WL 01339062
Summary:
The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service to his
client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In 2012, the
law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and came into
force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date would no longer be
entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such costs if a notice in form
N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the appellant thought that he
had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side affirmed during mediation, in
January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was informed by his assistant that he
failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a letter and a form N251 with a later
date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently relied on it during the settlement.
In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported it to
the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to the SRA
as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form. They also
alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors Disciplinary
Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with acting without
integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction and sentence.
Legal issue:
The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty
when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of
integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and integrity
was.
Critical analysis:
The lead Mostyn J to search for the definition of each word and found dishonesty to be the reverse of
honesty; lack of probity or integrity; and

is mainly about methodologies and application. All the way through the fundamentals building stage

with the point of assessing the present fundamentals prioritization approaches. In the primary
investigation they looked at the incorporated prioritization approach (IPA) with the other approach

Police brutality remains one of the most controversial, as well as the most serious human rights
violations in the United States. In the past year or we have heard, read, or witnessed unjustified
shootings, severe beatings, fatal chokings, and rough treatment which have all contributed to the ever
present problem of police brutality in America. Police are the ones that set an image towards the
society so that people can actually follow them and think they are doing the right thing, however it is a
really disturbing matter knowing that police does racial profiling especially compared to whites and
blacks. And therefore, this research paper is about police will most likely be more crucial to blacks
compare to whites and this is known as racial profiling. Therefore, this brings fourth the question, are
our officers of law really doing their job?
Police brutality has been and continues to be a major concern in society. Most of these incidents go un
reported or un noticed. Through research, we seek to identify the causes of police brutality, and what
we can possibly do to end it, or in the hopes that it brings awareness. While doing research on police
brutality, I have observed countless online journal articles. These articles are written by professional
analysts that specialize in investigating specific incidents involving police misconduct. The term
police brutality is commonly used very loosely to fit all forms of police misconduct. The excessive
force element of police

Reflective Reflection In Reflection
My reflection regarding the previous classes, I found them to be very educational and engaging which
I think helped me to broaden and deepen my understanding of program planning. Working on the Off
campus Teaching Reflection and the Observation and Report on an Adult Learning Class or Center
assignments provided me a unique opportunity to apply what I have learned from this course into the
real world. In these classes, we covered the following topics: Designing Instruction, Devising Transfer
of Learning Plans, Access and Participation, Formulating Program Evaluation Plans, Assessment and
Evaluation, Selecting Formats, Scheduling, and Staffing Programs. After reading chapter 8 of
Planning Programs for Adult Learners by Rosemary Caffarella and Sandra Daffron, it showed me
when designing instruction we need to have a clear and understandable learning objectives that meet
intended outcomes. Developing learning objectives plays important role in program planning,
therefore, we must make sure must learn content are included. When it comes to choosing
instructional techniques we should use techniques that enable scaffolding, suitable to the audience and
their background knowledge and work for the strengths of the instructor. We should select
instructional resources that enhance the learning effort and select an assessment component. Using
assessment data should be in formative and summative ways. We need to prepare clear instructional
plans and choose instructors who know their

Trade Relations Between New Zealand And The Philippines Essay
Abstract This paper is a discussion of the trade relations between New Zealand and the Philippines. Its
focus is on the trade profiles first and foremost of both New Zealand and the Philippines to afford a
bird s eye view of each country s individual trading capacity and capability. Hopefully, the discussion
shows the trading intensity between New Zealand and the Philippines. Trade barriers are discussed
briefly in order to depict some of the hindrances that are currently faced by both parties. The paper
also has discussions on New Zealand and the Philippines trade potentials and opportunities to
showcase both countries trade possibilities under certain situations. Introduction New Zealand, a
country with a population of more or less four million five hundred thousand and the Philippines, a
country with a population of almost a hundred million are operating on a more or less equal Gross
Domestic Product. Obviously there is a disparity in terms of per capita income between the two
countries. The reason why I have cited the above information is because I wanted to emphasize the
country wide impact of trade for these two trading partner country. Yes, I know that neither country
has anything to do with each other s population but the fact still remains that the gigantic difference in
population affects current and future trading between these two trading partner. New Zealand and the
Philippines are mainly agriculture based economy countries, although

Consequences Of Teen Drinking
Consequences of Underaged Drinking
By: Ashley Thomas
Underaged drinking is becoming more of a problem every year. There are many negative
consequences that coincide with this risky activity; other than the obvious fact that it is illegal. These
consequences include: violent behavior, risky sexual activity, engaging in dangerous activities putting
oneself in harm s way, drunk driving, and long term effects such as brain damage and depression.
Whether the person engages in drinking regularly and simply believes nothing bad will happen to
them, or has been talked into drinking for the first time, both are put at equal risk for any of these
events to occur. Arguably some of the most devastating side effects of drinking at a young age are
changes in the way the brain develops. The human brain does not stop developing until one is well
into their twenties. Because of this, Young people that consume/abuse alcohol, are put at a much
higher risk of early onset depression and alcohol dependence into adulthood. The more concerning
aspect of this is teens that start having problems with depression, due to drinking, often lie about their
habits, thus not getting help until it is too late. More times than not, young people do not confide in
parents for fear of judgement and/or ridicule. Situations like these often cause young adults to feel
alone and isolate themselves from those who wish to help, quite possibly resulting in suicide. The best
way to avoid this is for parents to be

Essay South Beach Diet
South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet is a relatively new weight loss diet. It was developed by Miami cardiologist
Arthur Agatston, M.D., who is the director of the Mount Sinai Cardiac Prevention Center. The diet is
meant to promote weight loss but not at the expense of heart health. Unlike other wildly popular low
carb plans, South Beach calls for keeping tabs on saturated fats and favors lean meats and proteins
over bacon, cheeseburgers, and steaks. With this diet there is no calorie counting. In fact, there is no
actual diet plan per se. Agatston uses sample menus to outline what you need to eat. Lists of foods to
enjoy and foods to avoid round out the plan. Basically it adds up to three meals a day ... Show more

Battle Of Gettysburg Research Paper
The Battle of Gettysburg
I am going to be talking about the battle of Gettysburg. It took place in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in
Adams County. This war was between the Confederate and the Union or the north and south states.
Robert E. Lee was the person who started this war. The Battle of Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania lasted from July 1 through July 3, 1863. It was one of the largest and bloodiest battle of
the Civil war well as the largest battle ever fought in North America, involving around 85,000 men in
the Union s Army under Major General George Meade and about 75,000 in the Confederacy s Army
of the Northern Virginia, commanded by General Robert E. Lee. Casualties at Gettysburg totaled

My Life I Have Been Exposed With Little Diversity Essay
Throughout my life I have been exposed to little diversity. I grew up in what is considered to be the
whitest city in America , in schools that were even less diverse. In fact, I went to the third richest
public high school per capita in the country with a student body that was 98% white. It may seem like
I am flaunting myself, however, it is the opposite. Growing up in a city neighborhood where I was
rarely exposed to outside affliction, I never truly grasped the true meaning of freedom . Of course, like
in most schools, my professors would discuss it in class, but it is impossible to comprehend a concept
without experiencing, witnessing or reading about it in depth. Throughout high school, freedom to me
was refusing a curfew and staying up late with friends, aware, but rarely caring about went on outside
my bubble. Despite not accepting it at the time, I was what most upper middle class white kids are.
Ignorant.
Fortunately, I decided to branch out and travel more than 3,000 miles to come to a small liberal arts
college (little did I know that one class would change my perspective on freedom entirely).
Throughout the term nearly all the books had a theme of freedom, however, five stood out in
particular Democracy and Its Global Roots by Amartya Sen, On Liberty by John Stuart Mill and The
Republic by Plato, The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels and Omelas by
Ursula le Guin. Throughout the semester Human Experience gave me the opportunity to branch out

Pros And Cons Of The 22nd Amendment
Until 1951, there was no law restricting the number of times the president of the United States could
run for office. After the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Congress proposed the 22nd
Amendment. Since its ratification, the highly controversial amendment has survived every attempted
repeal. Contemporary presidents of both parties, President Regan and President Clinton, supported
repealing or modifying the amendment whereas other presidents believed a repeal would result in
political stagnation. While there are certain benefits of restricted term limits, the otherwise
undemocratic 22nd Amendment should be repealed. David Karol, a proponent of repeal, argues first
and foremost the amendment is undemocratic and considers it to be the most offensive aspect of the
law. Presidential term limits reduce the public s influence over the electoral process. Furthermore, the
amendment is based solely on distrust and fear which historically does not make for good policy. In
his argument, Karol cited historian Henry Steele Commager who suggested that the amendment was
simply posthumous vengeance on President Roosevelt and the shortsighted partisan act resulted in bad
policy. Simultaneously, the amendment does nothing to stop the expanding power of the executive.
For example, in his first term, President Lyndon B. Johnson exaggerated the Gulf of Tonkin incident
to work around the limitations of the office. Since the second half of the 20th century, the power of the
president has

Symptoms And Treatment Of Vascular Closure
Background
Vascular closure devices following cardiac catherization through the femoral artery have been gaining
significant traction since its use in the mid 1990s. Compared to the previous gold standard of manual
compression, VCDs allow for shortened time to ambulation, decreased duration of hospitalization post
procedure, and increased patient comfort. The devices have also shown safeness comparable to
manual compression. Despite the many advantages and variety of devices available, there are still
complications to take into account. More common issues include device failure, bleeding, and
hematoma. Less common but more serious complications include infection, ischemia, limb loss, and
death.

Due to these findings patient was directly admitted to the hospital and placed on a heparin drip. On
physical exam patient had absent pulses below the right femoral artery. However, there was no
discoloration, change of temperature, or sensory as well as motor deficits of the right lower extremity.
Patient was taking a low dose aspirin and red yeast rice for cholesterol management at that time.
The following morning the patient underwent successful angioplasty of the right common femoral
artery with thrombectomy and a 6 x 20 mm balloon angioplasty, reducing a 90% stenosis to less than
30%. A spider catheter was deployed to perform the thrombectomy, however an atrial blazer catheter
failed to retrieve the spider device as it was unable to completely collapse. As a result the patient was
taken to the OR for vascular surgery. The spider basket was retrieved through the wall of the common
femoral artery with its contents.
The specimen was sent to pathology, which noted a foreign body device surrounded by soft tissue
attached to the spider device. The foreign body was noted to be a Angio Seal plug from the left heart
catheterization that had been presumed a thrombus.
Discussion
Promising results have shown that the Angio seal VCD has excellent efficacy and safety after routine
catheterization and intervention. However, clear indications of use and risk of complications need to
be evaluated and monitored.

Childhood And Adolescence During The Middle Ages
History has demonstrated that an evolution occurs with the aging of society. One such evolution is the
treatment of children. The concept of parens partriae was influenced by the exesting concepts of
childhood and adolescence during the Middle Ages. It experienced its first major evolution, judging
the 1960s, and has seen a further evolution in modern times. The following essay discuses those
evolutions, and evaluates if they are for the better, or worse.
According to dictionary.com definition of Parens Patriae is the government, or any other authority,
regarded as the legal protector of citizens unable to protect themselves. Parens Patriae is Latin for
parent of his or her country. It refers to the state s ability to act in the capacity of guardian for those
who have the inability to care for themselves. Examples of Parens Patriae are disabled individuals and
children. However, there has not always been protection for children. The middle Ages, was
significantly different for children, then it is at present. During the middle ages, the first relationship
that children experienced were within their immediate families. Like today, children lived with their
parents and siblings. However, because people dies younger, from disease, children were also know to
live with their extended families, such as aunts or uncles. Grandparents were disclosed, as most
grandparents would have died before most children were born. According to In Europe, during the
Middle Ages (roughly

Burmese Python In The Everglades
Originally native to the south tropics of eastern Asia, Burmese python is one of many large snakes in
the world with a length between 19 and 23 feet and weights around 200 pounds. In the Everglades, the
largest python found was 16 feet long and weighed 152 pounds. With a light colored pale belly and
dark brown blotches, Burmese python grow larger and heavier than any snake in Florida compares to
the indigo snake can grow to 8.5 feet. (McCleery, 2015)

When capture snakes are euthanized by USNPS personnel, and the nest is destroyed. Other ways of
removing the Burmese pythons are by isolating the chemical cues (pheromones) that pythons use
during mating season. Once isolated, pheromones can lure pythons into traps. Trained dogs are being
looked at for their effectiveness at sniffing out snakes. A release of an exotic animal in Florida is a first
degree misdemeanor with a year in prison and a $1,000 fine. Regulation went up in 2008 to limit the
sale of reptiles of concern like the Burmese pythons, African rock pythons, reticulated pythons, green

Conduct research before purchasing an exotic pet. If someone no longer cares for an exotic pet, call
the Fire Rescue Department. (McCleery, 2015) The Burmese python poses challenges to trap.
Trapping, a traditional method of snake capture, can include an inescapable funnel device and a drift
fence that direct the snake into the trap. It is important that the drift fence is inserted into the so the
snakes don t bypass it. The problem with this is with the hard limestone foundation making
construction of the drift fences difficult. Finally, the immense area that the Burmese python occupied
will make it hard to utility an extensive trapping. It would be more practical to trap them on

His admirability lies in his willingness to please others. It may be because he is very self conscious, so he thinks that no one will ever like let alone love him. In the play, Cyrano is in love with his cousin, Roxane. But Roxane is in love with Christian, and Christian Roxane. Cyrano ends up setting Christian up with Roxane, while Cyrano writes all the romantic lines for Christian to woo Roxane (Christian is terrible at love poems). • 3. An Important Skill For First And Second Language Learners 1. INTRODUCTION Reading is an important skill for first and second language learners. Failing to learn to read and write in the early years results in poor self esteem for learners than any other cause (Casey, 2001). Computer technology proved to have many advantages for students with learning difficulties, including motivational aspects and development of fine motor skills (Casey, 2001). A review of the reading research in L1 and L2 on the effect of a variety of technologies on students achievement has shown two contradictory findings. The fist line of research found that use of technology had no significant effect on students reading skill development. Computer assisted instruction had no effect on the reading achievement of 3rd 6th grade students in a low socio economic status community. No significant differences were also found between boys and girls reading achievement (Hamilton, 1995). In another study, Martindale, Pearson, Curda Pilcher (2005) found that 5th grade students who used computer based and web based software applications (FCAT Explorer) scored significantly higher on the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) than elementary school students who did not use the FCAT Explorer. At the high school level, no significant differences in scores were found between students who used the FCAT Explorer and those who did not use it. • 7. Rhetorical Analysis Of Drafting The Elderly By David Rothkopf Aaron Jeu Instructor Acevedo English 100 23 June 2015 Drafting the Elderly into Service, Just Kidding From time to time, this question may run through a younger individual s mind: What good are old people for? American society stereotypes the elderly as unwell, feeble, unproductive and even a financial burden to the government and families. In the layered excerpt, A Proposal to Draft America s Elderly, author David Rothkopf utilizes literary devices such as syntax, sarcastic tone, and style to stimulate discussion over how the nation is unsure of what to do with the elderly. However, Rothkopf fails to realize that America s infrastructure and labor force is already designed to continue to support these individuals in retirement. In the beginning of his introduction, Rothkopf engages the audience in comical imagery to begin his proposition for drafting the elderly. He describes the elderly as bikers with long grey ponytails and men on beaches who are long past the age when they should be seen in Speedos (Page 53). He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his ninth paragraph, he states, it is unavoidable that conflicts do occur, were we to field an army of the elderly, we would eliminate war s greatest tragedy (Page 54). The idea of putting the elderly to war is absurd and would imply that they are physically capable of combat as well as being better suited than the young. Another instance of his sarcasm can be located in the beginning of his last paragraph. With confidence, Rothkopf states, given the obvious merits of such a program, I think it is fair that no man or woman take issue with it unless he or she has a superior idea (Page 54). There are many other disagreements about video games that people think harm someone s health and relationships. Many people who do not like video games because they are too violent only see the violent games and not much more. Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835 (Admin) 2017 WL 01339062 Summary: The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service to his client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In 2012, the law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and came into force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date would no longer be entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such costs if a notice in form N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the appellant thought that he had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side affirmed during mediation, in January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was informed by his assistant that he failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a letter and a form N251 with a later date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently relied on it during the settlement. In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported it to the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to the SRA as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form. They also alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with acting without integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction and sentence. Legal issue: The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and integrity was. And therefore, this research paper is about police will most likely be more crucial to blacks compare to whites and this is known as racial profiling. Therefore, this brings fourth the question, are our officers of law really doing their job? Police brutality has been and continues to be a major concern in society. Through research, we seek to identify the causes of police brutality, and what we can possibly do to end it, or in the hopes that it brings awareness. While doing research on police brutality, I have observed countless online journal articles. These articles are written by professional analysts that specialize in investigating specific incidents involving police misconduct. • 23. Reflective Reflection In Reflection My reflection regarding the previous classes, I found them to be very educational and engaging which I think helped me to broaden and deepen my understanding of program planning. Working on the Off campus Teaching Reflection and the Observation and Report on an Adult Learning Class or Center assignments provided me a unique opportunity to apply what I have learned from this course into the real world. In these classes, we covered the following topics: Designing Instruction, Devising Transfer of Learning Plans, Access and Participation, Formulating Program Evaluation Plans, Assessment and Evaluation, Selecting Formats, Scheduling, and Staffing Programs. After reading chapter 8 of Planning Programs for Adult Learners by Rosemary Caffarella and Sandra Daffron, it showed me when designing instruction we need to have a clear and understandable learning objectives that meet intended outcomes. Developing learning objectives plays important role in program planning, therefore, we must make sure must learn content are included. When it comes to choosing instructional techniques we should use techniques that enable scaffolding, suitable to the audience and their background knowledge and work for the strengths of the instructor. We should select instructional resources that enhance the learning effort and select an assessment component. Using assessment data should be in formative and summative ways. We need to prepare clear instructional plans and choose instructors who know their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Consequences Of Teen Drinking Consequences of Underaged Drinking By: Ashley Thomas Underaged drinking is becoming more of a problem every year. There are many negative consequences that coincide with this risky activity; other than the obvious fact that it is illegal. These consequences include: violent behavior, risky sexual activity, engaging in dangerous activities putting oneself in harm s way, drunk driving, and long term effects such as brain damage and depression. Whether the person engages in drinking regularly and simply believes nothing bad will happen to them, or has been talked into drinking for the first time, both are put at equal risk for any of these events to occur. Arguably some of the most devastating side effects of drinking at a young age are changes in the way the brain develops. The human brain does not stop developing until one is well into their twenties. Because of this, Young people that consume/abuse alcohol, are put at a much higher risk of early onset depression and alcohol dependence into adulthood. The more concerning aspect of this is teens that start having problems with depression, due to drinking, often lie about their habits, thus not getting help until it is too late. More times than not, young people do not confide in parents for fear of judgement and/or ridicule. Situations like these often cause young adults to feel alone and isolate themselves from those who wish to help, quite possibly resulting in suicide. The best way to avoid this is for parents to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Essay South Beach Diet South Beach Diet The South Beach Diet is a relatively new weight loss diet. It was developed by Miami cardiologist Arthur Agatston, M.D., who is the director of the Mount Sinai Cardiac Prevention Center. The diet is meant to promote weight loss but not at the expense of heart health. Unlike other wildly popular low carb plans, South Beach calls for keeping tabs on saturated fats and favors lean meats and proteins over bacon, cheeseburgers, and steaks. With this diet there is no calorie counting. In fact, there is no actual diet plan per se. Agatston uses sample menus to outline what you need to eat. • 28. My Life I Have Been Exposed With Little Diversity Essay Throughout my life I have been exposed to little diversity. I grew up in what is considered to be the whitest city in America , in schools that were even less diverse. In fact, I went to the third richest public high school per capita in the country with a student body that was 98% white. It may seem like I am flaunting myself, however, it is the opposite. Growing up in a city neighborhood where I was rarely exposed to outside affliction, I never truly grasped the true meaning of freedom . Of course, like in most schools, my professors would discuss it in class, but it is impossible to comprehend a concept without experiencing, witnessing or reading about it in depth. Throughout high school, freedom to me was refusing a curfew and staying up late with friends, aware, but rarely caring about went on outside my bubble. Despite not accepting it at the time, I was what most upper middle class white kids are. Ignorant. Fortunately, I decided to branch out and travel more than 3,000 miles to come to a small liberal arts college (little did I know that one class would change my perspective on freedom entirely). Throughout the term nearly all the books had a theme of freedom, however, five stood out in particular Democracy and Its Global Roots by Amartya Sen, On Liberty by John Stuart Mill and The Republic by Plato, The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels and Omelas by Ursula le Guin. • 29. Pros And Cons Of The 22nd Amendment Until 1951, there was no law restricting the number of times the president of the United States could run for office. After the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Congress proposed the 22nd Amendment. Since its ratification, the highly controversial amendment has survived every attempted repeal. Contemporary presidents of both parties, President Regan and President Clinton, supported repealing or modifying the amendment whereas other presidents believed a repeal would result in political stagnation. While there are certain benefits of restricted term limits, the otherwise undemocratic 22nd Amendment should be repealed. David Karol, a proponent of repeal, argues first and foremost the amendment is undemocratic and considers it to be the most offensive aspect of the law. Presidential term limits reduce the public s influence over the electoral process. Furthermore, the amendment is based solely on distrust and fear which historically does not make for good policy. In his argument, Karol cited historian Henry Steele Commager who suggested that the amendment was simply posthumous vengeance on President Roosevelt and the shortsighted partisan act resulted in bad policy. Simultaneously, the amendment does nothing to stop the expanding power of the executive. For example, in his first term, President Lyndon B. Johnson exaggerated the Gulf of Tonkin incident to work around the limitations of the office. Since the second half of the 20th century, the power of the president has ... Symptoms And Treatment Of Vascular Closure Background Vascular closure devices following cardiac catherization through the femoral artery have been gaining significant traction since its use in the mid 1990s. Compared to the previous gold standard of manual compression, VCDs allow for shortened time to ambulation, decreased duration of hospitalization post procedure, and increased patient comfort. The devices have also shown safeness comparable to manual compression. Despite the many advantages and variety of devices available, there are still complications to take into account. Patient was taking a low dose aspirin and red yeast rice for cholesterol management at that time. The following morning the patient underwent successful angioplasty of the right common femoral artery with thrombectomy and a 6 x 20 mm balloon angioplasty, reducing a 90% stenosis to less than 30%. A spider catheter was deployed to perform the thrombectomy, however an atrial blazer catheter failed to retrieve the spider device as it was unable to completely collapse. As a result the patient was taken to the OR for vascular surgery. The spider basket was retrieved through the wall of the common femoral artery with its contents. The specimen was sent to pathology, which noted a foreign body device surrounded by soft tissue attached to the spider device. The foreign body was noted to be a Angio Seal plug from the left heart catheterization that had been presumed a thrombus. Discussion Promising results have shown that the Angio seal VCD has excellent efficacy and safety after routine catheterization and intervention. However, clear indications of use and risk of complications need to be evaluated and monitored. Advantages to using a closure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
