Self Care Proposal Paper
Objective: To reduce hospital readmissions for heart disease patients in the Chicagoland area by
providing patients with resources to better understand their conditions and live a healthier lifestyle
with improved diet and exercise.
Target Population: Our proposal will bring healthcare to patients in a direct, affordable manner,
overcoming financial and transportation barriers to aid low income patients. Our target patients are
those who want to actively care for themselves but do not know where to start, and those who may be
too restricted by their busy lifestyle and other priorities to make extra efforts in self care. Direct home
visits, provision of healthier foods in food deserts, and increased availability of resources for
management of their conditions will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will initially work with University of Chicago hospitals and initiate home visits with 100 patients;
after a period of three months, we will extend the home visits to 200 more patients, 300 more after
another 3 months, and so forth. Successful implementation of home visits in Washington Park after
about 1 2 years will allow for expansion of the program to more hospitals in Chicago communities.
Pillboxes, weighing scale, and weight logs can be immediately implemented into many area hospitals,
the minimal cost of which will be covered by the hospital system and funds from non profit
organizations and philanthropists.
Metrics: Number of calls to the helplines upon advertising, number of dietitians involved in home
visits, number of community centers and farms participating in the healthy food sale initiative, and
number of phone calls and website pre orders for the food delivery system will be some of the metrics
that will quantitatively measure the success of this

Two Elements Of Horror Fiction
Horror fiction, also known as horror literature or horror fantasy, is a genre that has the main intension
of frightening or startling its readers or viewers. The main component that a horror fiction must have
is the success in stimulating that feelings of horror, which is defined as a painful feeling caused by
something frightfully shocking, or revolting . This feeling can be propelled in an audience through sub
genres of horror such as serial killers, monsters, paranormal and of course, zombies. Horror fiction has
evolved since the late eighties, which is a period know as horror s boom time , losing its morals to the
modern theme of blood and gore. This essay will discuss the similarities and differences of the
messages included in the horror texts of The Others and The Hole and how these messages are
conveyed to the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Grace Stewart, a mother of two children named Anne and Nicholas, and Charles Stewart, the
unreturned father off at war. The children bear a burden of a disease, where they cannot be exposed to

The Next Levels Of Sympathy In Music
Sympathy is just feeling for someone else s problems whether that be in sorrow, pain, anger, etc.
Empathy could be said to be the next level of sympathy, as feeling empathy is knowing and
understanding someone s feelings on a subject, It is a lot easier to feel sympathy for someone than
empathy, but just feeling sympathy for someone doesn t make you a bad person. It might be for
someone you see across the street who just dropped their ice cream cone.
I feel as though empathy will not focus entirly on the subject of art itself, but rather on the person
creating the art and their feelings while creating it. Many song writers create songs with varying
tempos, intensity, and volume soley based on how they are feeling and what the song is about.

Melanoma Case Study Melanoma
A 59 year old woman comes to her physician s office 2 months after noticing a nodule on the back of
her upper neck. She is very active and plays golf in her spare time. Given her outdoor activities, she
thought that she had a mosquito bite; however, the nodule has not improved over the past 3 weeks.
The nodule has started to grow larger, itches and bleeds when scratched. The patient denies having any
other significant past medical history. Examination shows a 0.75 cm (7.5 mm) lesion on the back of
her neck, seen in the image. Which of the following is most appropriate in the management of this
patient? A. Excisional biopsy B. Interferon alpha C. Observation D. Positron emission tomography E.
Shave biopsy Choice A is the best answer. The lesion depicted is a melanoma. Classic warning signs
and symptoms for a melanoma include any cutaneous lesion that changes color, size, or shape.

precluded by the size of the lesion. A complete excisional biopsy is the correct next step in the
management of this patient. The sample should have a 1 3 mm margin of healthy skin and should

Reyna Grande s Journey To Success
In the book The Distance Between Us , Reyna Grande writes about her own journey to success. She
explains her cultural background on when she used to live in Mexico, along with after moving to the
United States and the changes that she had to go through. In addition she also explains how her father
encouraged her to become successful. As he says, in this quote School is the key to the future. (227)
Cultural practice, natural abilities, deliberate practice, along with her having grit played a huge
determining factor into what level of success Grande would later achieve in her life, as she would later
become a successful writer, a teacher, and a mother.

Distance Between Us she says, My father s acceptance of me had become my sole reason for being.
(259) As Grande stayed devoted to her schooling with deliberate practice. When she was in school she
would look for things that her sister had not already done, as she came across things like band, art,
reading, and writing. She soon fell in love with reading and writing for they did not show her accent.
In addition to Reyna falling in love with writing she began to enter in to writing contests, as she won
she realized that she could make her father proud and becoming successful was not just a dream, it
was a possibility. Likewise, in the article, The Role to Deliberate Practice in a Acquisition of Expert
Performance , Ericsson, Krampe, and Romer say, eminent to achieving any expert performance of
success you must have achievement and your mindset. The authors also explain that you must have
the knowledge and effort behind you to reach that expert performance at any achievement level. (366)

rule of practice, especially when it came to reading and writing. In the book Outliers: The Story of

Rappers Vs Griots
Many argue that the past griot s and the rappers of today in Africa, are as different as an apple and
orange. *You have those who believe the foundation of both practices are one hundred percent
different. Everything that makes a griot who they are, is completely the opposite of what shapes an
African rapper. *On contrast, there are also those who presume that the message and way of execution
are the same for both lyracis. *The belief that the two are different, mostly comes from those of older
age, or who have a lineage of griots that backtrack throughout the years. *While those who believe the
opposite, are of younger age and have more modern day experiences. So although socially, the African
griot and rapper are on two different platforms, the message and ways of expression are tantamount,
however, the fundamentals are contrasting. As time progressed and rappers begin to make appearances
in the 1990 s, griots were still in full effect. Just as the griots openly criticize politicians and protest
the conditions of community, rappers do the same. For example, if the issue was unemployment, it
would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
*However, just like the modern day griot s (rappers), classic griots don t just sing, but they also rap.
So just as social issues and hymns are performed by the griot and the rapper, they are also done in the
style of rap. But of course, many rappers and griots in Africa sing to give a softer approach to the
audience. *For example, when singing about a particularly melancholy part of African history, a song
may be presented. This is also exercised by the rappers of Africa. However, sometimes just as a
camera tell a thousand word, so does an instrument. The emotion and force that goes into playing can
tell a full story. The principle is completely understood by the griots and rapper of the past and the

The Blade Of The Craft Guild
The Blade of the Craft Guild realized his mission would be much more difficult than he expected
when less than twenty steps into the Wretched Quarter a man in a torn and dirty black robe confronted
him. The Blade was covered in filth, had on a dirty and torn yellow tunic, and should have looked like
any other wretched Craft Guild citizen returning from across the river. Yet the man made a beeline to
him.
Name your guild, the man asked.
I am a Custodian. I clean the floors in the Warehouse District. The Blade couldn t quite believe he was
seeing a man in black. Maybe there was some roving gang that liked to pretend they were the heir of
Pietro or something. He dropped his hand to the stiletto sheathed against his leg.
Where do you live?
The Blade nodded in some vague direction. Over that aways.
Which street?
The man in black was not backing down. The Blade couldn t quite figure out what was going on, but
he didn t want to raise any alarms either. Who wants to know? The Blade hoped that moving to an
aggressive approach might do the trick. The gang member was probably used to people cowering in
front of him.
To the Blade s shock, the man in black didn t even ask another question. He reached out and grabbed
the Blade by the arm. You re coming with me. The man s grip was like iron, and the Blade was yanked
nearly off his feet.
Looking around, he was surrounded by quite a few people, but not enough to stop his escape, which
was good as he had very few options. He

To What Extent Does the Reform Act of 1832 Deserve Its...
The title, great is reserved for a select few characters and documents in history. Alfred earned his
through establishing stable change, peace and improvement. So too the Magna Carta, which brought
about greater justice and freedom for the common man and limited royal influence. In the same ways,
the reform act of 1832 warranted the title. It was by no means a revolutionary measure, nor the final
solution of a great constitutional question as Russell had put it, but both symbolically and physically,
it spelt change for Britain. This in itself showed its greatness despite Pitt having attempted reform in
the 1780s, and the issue having repeatedly returned to parliament, no reform had been achieved. The
fact that finally after so much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Getting bills past the commons was no longer a difficulty: the second reform bill passed by 140 votes.
The lords, however, declined the second bill by a majority of 41. On the very same day, rioting began
in Derby and Nottingham and spread throughout England over the following days. Britain had never
been so close to revolution in October 1831: with no police force (other than a minor presence in
London), the army too small and too poorly trained to cope and rioting across the country, all the signs
were in place for a rebellion in frustration of lack of reform. Nottingham castle was burnt down,
Bristol Bishop s Palace was attacked, killing 12 and injuring 400, prisoners in Nottingham were set
free, the church was specifically targeted (as 21 of 26 Bishops had voted against reform) and there
were widespread disturbances and mass demonstrations. The situation was far more serious than the
1790s or 1819; the repressive legislation that had worked then would not here. Reform was necessary
to avert revolution. Similar activities continued after the failure of the third reform bill; although
slightly less frenzied, activities such as withdrawing savings from banks to precipitate an economic
crisis were just as damaging. Finally (after Peel refused to serve under Wellington, so the government
remained with Grey), the reform act was passed. As soon as news of this spread, civil disruption
quietened. The reform act was great for many reasons, one of the most important

Mere Christianity
In C.S Lewis novel, Mere Christianity, he dives into the differences that can be within a moral code,
while also proving that they are all the same that the base. Lewis also tries to answer a question that
does not have a simple and clear cut answer: why do we feel bad when we misbehave, if everyone
misbehaves?
Early in book one, the focus is on what we feel and what those emotions mean. He uses an example of
hearing someone call for help. There would be three feelings. First, a desire to help. Second, a desire
to keep out of danger. And third, a gut feeling that the first desire is right and the second desire is
wrong. Therefore, morality may be related to instinct, but it is not a one to one result of it. Also, there
is no instinct that is moral all the time without fail, further proving that instinct does not equal
morality. One example that resonated the most while going through this book was Lewis point bout
the Salem witch trials and how one can use this to argue the consistency, or lack thereof, of morality.
One could say that these trials are proof how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains that Christianity is not meant to be simple or generic. Some critics of the religion
complain that it is too complicated, but there is then the follow up point that life is not simple, so why
should religion be? Christianity forces people to put trust in the unpredictable, and sometimes makes
them act outside of their instinct. For most of the second book, Lewis goes very deep into the
fundamentals of Christianity and what he believes. He has many viewpoints that are not widely
accepted in the general world of faith, but it most definitely makes the brain work a little harder. He
explains his reasoning behind some of these rules and views in book three of the novel, and he also
works through some of the stereotypes of the

In The Time of the Butterflies is a book based on the lives of the Mirabal sisters who took enormous
amounts of courage to challenge the corrupt government of the Dominican Republic during the mid
1900 s. Trujillo is the tyrannical dictator, who with the help of his ruthless secret police, rules the
country with an iron grip. Not only did he terrorize and kill thousands of innocents, he also personally
brutalized and attacked young women against their will. Despite the horrors that Trujillo put these
people through, an underground rebellion was formed with the Mirabal sisters playing a crucial role. A
role that would require immense courage, but where would this courage come from?

But though she doesn t know it, she will come to show bravery in a different way later on. Until then
however she doubts herself and is weary, But without a plan Dede s courage unraveled like a row of

unable to keep it for long. This also means that her courage is unpredictable, at one point it may be
strong, but then the slightest thing is enough to topple it. Later in the book however, she fights it, Dede
could not run away. Courage! It was the first time she had used that word to herself and understood
exactly what it meant. (Alvarez, 441) Dede triumphantly thinks this to herself after she contemplates
letting go of her sanity, before the SIM destroyed all that she loved. This is one of Dede s few
moments where she sticks up for herself (even if she s only warring with her own mind), but this still
isn t the main way she shows courage. The focal point of how Dede exhibits bravery is enduring life

Neutron Star Research Paper
A neutron star is created from an old, burnt out star. When the core of the star has burnt out and turned
into iron, energy is no longer being produced and the core of the star condenses very quickly. This
compacts all of the protons (+) and electrons ( ) creating neutrons (o) and neutrinos which are particles
that do not carry a charge but are similar to electrons. Yes, this is probably where the name Neutron
Star came from. During the condensing of the star s core, the neutrinos are able to escape, but the
neutrons are squished together so much that their density is the same of an atomic nucleus density. A
violent explosion happens during this process and its called a supernova . To put this into perspective,
imagine taking something the size of our sun, if not bigger, and compacting it into an area the size of a
city. This is so dense that just a teaspoon of it would weigh about 1 billion tons! Crazy, right? Now,
neutron stars can only support themselves if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The insane rotational period is due to the conservation of angular momentum. When a star is just it s
average self, it gradually rotates slower and slower, but when it forms into a neutron star, it s rotation
is supercharged. This is so fast that in just a second, it can make a full spin around 60 times, and this
can be increased greatly depending on what space objects are near it. That being said, they do slow
down over time and can be slowed down to a crawl at a full rotation every 20 minutes due to winds in
X ray systems. Next up, the insane magnetic field of a neutron star. Similar to the intensification of the
rotational period; when the star is transforming into a neutron star, the magnetic field lines are pulled
closer together making them shorter, but much stronger. The strength of the new magnetic field is
equivalent to that of Earth s, but times

Pros And Cons Of E-Books

Please discuss the pros and cons of each . I think it s hard to say whether they will or not, there are
many pro s and con s to e books, they have become very popular in recent years and as the younger
generation is very technical e books could possibly replace printed books. In my essay I will discuss
the pros and cons of e books. One of the biggest advantages of e books is that there eco friendly, they
use no paper to make and therefore it is reducing the amount of trees we cut down. You can have
thousands of books within the click of a button. A kindle is light to carry around rather than having
printed books. Information can be obtained on the spot. It can lower the costs of your favourite books,

Some people find it difficult to come up with disadvantages about e books because they are so
versatile but there are quite a few of them. Piracy is the number one concern for publishers and
authors. E books make piracy very easy to do, you can simply copy and paste a file and send it onto
another person without them paying for it. A lot of people still love being able to hold a book in there
hand to read before bed or on a train and with a piece of technology it just wouldn t be the same. Even
though you can change the font size on an e book it can still cause strain to the eye if there is a glare
on the screen which is very likely to occur if the sun is out or in some cases a light bulb can cause a
glare on a screen. Printed books done need to be charged which means you can read on the go no
matter what, some people would find it frustrating if they were in the middle of an amazing chapter of
a book and all of a sudden it switches off. E books also have an unreliable lifespan but printed books
can last decades provided they are well looked

QUARTER 6 Quarter six began by updating each of the product lines that Team 4 features. The
Workhorse and Traveler market segment both had the same changes in this quarter. Here, the team
analyzed both the customer needs and best competitor product for this market segment. The change
made here we added ultrafast computing power; this was one of the most important features in terms
of customer needs. Next, the group altered the Innovator product; ultrafast computing power was
added, as well as changing the desktop to a 21 high resolution monitor. These decisions were based of
the leading competitor s product in this market segment; the strategy implemented here was to match

The features Team 4 invested in was the Touch Screen and high speed Networking. By investing in
this, Team 4 was setup to be very successful in the Mercedes target, but also allowed for the other
product segments to be a step above the competitors products. After analyzing the results from the
previous quarter, it was determined that the prices set for each segment were not sufficient. Product
sales priority were also not properly adjusted. With the R D investments, sales priorities needed to be
changed for the main focus to become the most profitable market segments. Prices were not
competitive which in turned decreased revenue, market share, and profitability. To become more
competitive we altered the prices in each market segment. The Workhorse product was the first to
change, the price was lowered to $2500 in an attempt to increase sales; at this price Team 4 was still
making a profit on this product, as well as making the price much more competitive. The Workhorse
sales priority was also lowered to 3rd in Americas and 4th in APAC and EMEA. This product was not
selling as well as we had hoped, and was no longer as profitable as it once was which led to this
decision. Next, the Innovator product s price was adjusted; this involved a price increase to $4100.

Power of Context Essay
The Power of Context Paper Most people would believe that we are shaped and defined by our values
and moral character. However, Malcolm Gladwell argues, in the chapter The Power of Context, Bernie
Goetz and the Rise and Fall of New York City Crime In other words, The Power of Context is the
social setting and or the environment around you and how it affects your behavior. Anticipating
resistance from the reader Gladwell uses rhetorical strategies such as real life examples, controlled

argument. Gladwell carefully constructs his argument by offering the real life story of Bernie Goetz.

Minor, seemingly insignificant quality of life crimes, they said, were Tipping Points for violent crime
(292). These real life examples also helped Gladwell advance his claim that social context can change
the behavior of the larger population. Gladwell uses this example to help support his claim by showing
that unlike Bernie Goetz who was only one man, changing small things in our environmental context
can lead to a large systemic change in society. Gladwell strategically uses the Zimbardo Prison
Experiment, because this shows that with the two previous cases that the possibility of the subject
being a criminal was eliminated. This experiment shows that even educated Stanford students in a
monitored and controlled atmosphere are at the mercy of the social context around them. In the

behavior was often less under my control than I realized (296). This study shows that under a
controlled atmosphere that educated Stanford students are not greater than the social context around
them. Unlike in the first two examples the Stanford experiment was more inclusive and showed that
anyone even highly educated non criminals could have their behaviors altered by mere contextual

The Importance Of Soccer
Soccer is a popular sport all over the world and it is most popular in places like Europe and Spain. The
objective of soccer is to score goals by passing the ball down the field into the opposing team s goal.
The objective is to score more goals than your opponent. Soccer is popular all over the world, but why
isn t it popular here in the U.S?
Sports like basketball, Football, Baseball, and Tennis are all popular here in the U.S, yet, soccer doesn
t get as much attention. The U.S international team has qualified for the biggest international
tournament, The World Cup, for 32 years in a row. They never won the World cup, but they have been
performing really well over the years. If soccer was more popular here in the U.S, they would have
more people wanting to play the sport, causing them to improve massively as a team.
A major reason soccer isn t popular here is because the U.S only has 1 league to play in. For example,
all major countries have over 2 4 leagues so that more teams can play to reach for the top. The U.S has
a league called Major League Soccer, also known as the MLS. Firstly, the MLS only has 22 teams in
its league, that is more than most popular leagues in Europe and Spain! More teams mean more
excitement and fans right? Well not necessarily, The MLS might have more teams than any other
league in Europe, but it is very boring to watch.
You might ask, why would it be boring if there s more teams? It is boring since there is only 1 league,

Carburettors Advantages And Disadvantages
In order for an internal combustion engine to operate correctly, a mixture of fuel and air needs to enter
into the combustion chamber, pressurised and then ignited by a spark ignition which then drives the
piston to rotate. The way that the fuel is introduced into the combustion chamber has evolved over the
decades. Before electronic fuel injection, carburettors were the primary method of mixing air and fuel.
Carburettors work on the Bernoulli s principle: the faster the air moves, the lower its static pressure
and the higher its dynamic pressure. The throttle actuates carburettor mechanisms which meter the
flow of air being pulled into the engine, the speed of this flow and therefore its pressure determines
the amount of fuel drawn into the airstream.
Carburettors consist of an intake of air being pushed into the intake manifold to the engine. The build
up of fast dynamic pressure will initiate fuel delivery action by providing a vacuum for fuel to enter
the intake with the manifold propagating as a mixture chamber to atomise the fuel into the air to create
an ideal mixture. Carburettors use Bernoulli s principle, where the speed of air intake entering the
engine intake manifold in relation to the potential difference of pressure will meter the correct amount
of fuel to be sucked in. The disadvantage of a carburettor is that the amount of fuel being delivered
cannot be fully controlled and carburettors tend to have higher fuel to air ratios and sometimes flood
the engine

Does Acupuncture Effectively Reduce Insomnia There are many contributing factors that can cause
insomnia or loss of sleep. Whether it is due to medication, diet, illness or anxiety, 50 to 70 million
Americans suffer from sleep issues each year (CDC, 2015). Multiple studies have been conducted to
see whether or not acupuncture effectively reduces insomnia.
Acupuncture is a modality that is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Mayo Clinic describes
acupuncture as the insertion of extremely thin needles through the skin at strategic points on the body
(Staff, 2015). The specific points on the body that the needles are inserted are called meridians. Each
meridian is believed to be part of an energy pathway and acupuncture is believed ... Show more

Besides insomnia she also suffered from headaches and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The study
stated that the female veteran had ten acupuncture treatments during 5 months, at a frequency about
once every 2 weeks, with the acupuncture points being selected differently at different visits to treat
mainly anxiety, headaches, and sleep, guided by Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian theories (
Huang, M.D., Ph.D, Kutner, Ph.D., Bliwise, Ph.D, 2011). After six sessions, the study stated that the
woman no longer suffered from headaches and she had decreased the amount of sleep medication that
she was taking. Her PTSD had also been noted as decreasing in severity. The woman stated that the

Bibliography on Globalization and Health
Globalization and Health Globalization has had a huge effect on health, both positive and negative.
Because of increased mobility due to globalization, health professionals are able to cross borders with
stunning speed in order to deliver care and patients in need of certain treatments have benefited from
the ability to leave their country for care. The Internet makes it easier to alert the relevant authorities
to the outbreak of a disease and to share information on health issues. However, globalization has had
negative effects on health as well. When the Europeans first traveled and colonized the world, they
brought with them terrible diseases, killing over 90% of the population. The Aztec, Maya, and Inca
tribes were the most affected by these diseases. International travel and globalization has brought
many diseases, previously native to certain countries, all over the world. For example, Chagas
Disease, a disease spread by insects brought over from Mexican immigrants, has infected more than
500,000 citizens of America. Illegal drug trade, another result of globalization, is also having a
negative effect on health. Another negative effect of globalization is the recognition of medical
degrees of less developed countries by developed countries. Young medical professionals from less
developed countries finish their training in developed nations and tend to stay to develop their careers
and raise their families. This drains less developed countries of needed health care

Essay Investigation of Dark Matter
Investigation of Dark Matter
Introduction
Throughout the years, scientists have been looking for the missing mass of the universe; it has yet
remained an unsolved mystery. Using different methods, scientists have tried to determine the mass of
the universe and surprisingly found a discrepancy suggesting that ninety percent of the mass of the
universe is nowhere to be found. Then here comes the term dark matter , referring to this unfound
matter of the universe. It is called dark because it gives off no light and matter because it has to have
some mass to be able to explain the effects that they produce. There have been different perspectives
about dark matter. Some scientists think that dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The path that they make around the earth is called deferent while their movement about themselves is

Copernicus and his Explanation ==============================
Nicolaus Copernicus was a Polish astronomer, and his explanation about how the solar system moves
around the sun became the groundwork of modern astronomy. Furthermore, he proposed that the sun
is the center of the universe. He said that if one assumed that the sun is the center of the universe, it
would be simpler to describe the positions of the other planets and their movements, too. And with
Galileo Galilee s invention of the telescope, it was proven that Copernicus theory was valid.
Johannes Kepler and the Planetary Motions =========================================
Johannes Kepler was an assistant of Tycho Brahe. Brahe had been recording his observation from the
stars in the sky and Kepler had been wise enough to examine these observations. He was able to make
three laws governing the motions of the planets. Kepler s first law of planetary motion says that the
planets traveling in ellipse with the sun at one of its focus. Kepler s second law states that if there were
a straight line connecting the sun and a planet, the line

The Time Period Of The Cold War
The time period of the Cold War was a breeding ground for ideological change. It was an era filled
with fear and paranoia, not simply of the unknown, but of neighbours, friends, and family. World War
II, the atomic bomb, the Cold War, made it hard for Americans to continue their optimism historian
Stephen Ambrose commented. This paradigm shift is evident in the texts from the era, and by studying
them we come to understand the values and atmosphere of the time and the effect those values had on
the texts. The Cold War began after the end of World War II, after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima
and Nagasaki by the United States of America; that continued until the early 90s with the dissolving of
the Soviet Union. The two sides of the Cold War were the Western Bloc and Eastern Bloc, which are
terms given to the alliances formed by the USA and NATO; and the USSR and the Warsaw Pact
respectively. Named for its lack of major conflict or bloodshed between its two super powers, the USA
and USSR, despite the wars that occurred that those super powers supported, the Korean War and the
Vietnam War. After the bombing and subsequent end of WW II, the world was reeling from the
unprecedented destruction it caused as well as the implications and effects it would have on not only
war but society itself. During this time both a nuclear arms race and the space race occurred.
Primarily the Cold War was a power struggle between the USA and USSR, and their conflicting ideals
of capitalism

The Father Of Texas By Stephen F. Austin Essay
Every Texan knows the legends of Stephen F. Austin that lead him to become the Father of Texas. Few
Texas would try to say anyone else deserves this honor even though Texas is not short of larger than
life legends. Such names include Lorenzo Zavala, Thomas Rusk, Juan Seguin, William Travis, James
Bowie, and Sam Houston. Even In his eulogy for Austin, Houston called him, The Father of Texas
(Areas of Interest). But despite this many would argue that Houston deserves the title.
To understand how became a Texas Hero we must first explore the struggles that lead him to Texas
and eventually. Houston s early years where less than promising despite being named after his famous
father. Houston disliked working on the family farm and going to school. When given the chance to
leave the hard work of the farm and work as a clerk Houston choose to runaway. When he ran away

comfort and acceptance in the tribe. Years later he returned to the white settlement becoming a teacher
and then joining the Tennessee Militia. Later he would serve in the United States House of
Representatives. In 1829 Houston married Eliza Allen of Tennessee, however the marriage was short
lived. After Houston s failed marriage he resigned his office and headed west out of Tennessee where
he rejoined living with the Cherokee. However, this time he returned depressed and took to drinking

What Is The Thesis For Two Thousand Seasons
The Wishes of Destruction The wishes of perseverance of some are the destruction of others because
every action has a reaction. King Leopold came to the Congo to eradicate all signs of autochthony
there and to accomplish his goals at the expense of others. The Congo was once a free land and with
the arrival of Leopold it became a captive land. Ayi Kwei Armah in his book, Two Thousand Seasons,
gives a clear example of the devastation that the white parasites bring upon an indigenous land,
therefore, this book is linked with the atrocities that King Leopold performed on the Congo, shown on
the film Ghost of King Leopold. King Leopold imposed a slave labor system on the Congo to remove

It creates in them a sense of fear, uncertainty, denial, and suspicion of their mother culture. The
colonized people do not perceive the world with the same eyes as their compatriots, they see it with a
lens that they have obtained, rather imposed, from the colonizers. Armah explains how the wishes to
reconstruct their way into a road comes from within the society: it was the king s wish that the girl left
last within the middle circle should choose not a dancer from among ourselves, but a special guest of
honor he the king was bringing us. Kin Koranches s son culture is rapidly eroded as the new culture
takes its place, and masks the previous one because he has spent many years of his life on the road of
the white man. The ideas that his mind produces do not longer dwell on the indigenous side anymore;
consequently, his father breaks the tradition by putting his own son as the prize of the dance, thus,
contaminating the tradition with his white

English Piracy Definition
Very few people today, perhaps those who have stared death in the face, can possibly comprehend
what it would have been like to stand on the gallows at high tide as the executioner fashioned a noose
around the pirate s neck; the last significant act before his final voyage, a short drop and a quick stop.
The English political and legal processes that delivered this defiant captain and hundreds of others
condemned for piracy to their final destination is the focus of this study.
Their contemporaries described them as Robbers, Opposers, and Violators of all Laws, Humane and
Divine. Many viewed themselves as a more selfish reincarnation of Robin Hood, stealing from
wealthy merchants, foreign traders, and abusive captains, and in doing so, threatening ... Show more

After nearly two decades of anti pirate policies in the colonies, colonial officials no longer deemed it
necessary to aggressively convict anyone suspected of piracy out of fear of losing their charter, as they
had prior to 1705. Furthermore, the defining legal question leading to extreme ambiguity in the
prosecution of pirates during the seventeenth century was at what point did acting outside of one s
commission constitute an act of piracy? The conclusion of Great Britain s hostilities with France and
Spain in 1713 rendered this question irrelevant as the new wave of pirates targeted primarily British,
not neutral or allied ships, clearly defining their aggression as piracy. The change in targets also
reduced the prosecution s need to rely on accomplice testimony, a source of controversy in civil law
proceedings, since attacks occurring off nearby shores provided easier access to victim testimony.
Finally, the increase in colonial newspapers and the dissemination of their publication of piracy trials
reports did assist in reducing procedural inconsistencies, but not in the way previously suggested.
Instead, it was the increased familiarity with civil law and piracy trial procedures within the reports,

1.1. Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM): Opening Doors for Market
Oriented Approaches Over the past twenty years, CBNRM has been adopted as a panacea for
achieving sustainable NRM and rural economic development in East and Southern Africa [13].
CBNRM was born out of the wisdom that most causes of rural resource degradation take place due to
centralised governance systems that exclude local communities from accessing resources in protected
areas [14]. Thus, Nyirenda et al. [15], note that CBNRM should contribute to improved collective
action in NRM. The net benefits of this approach include among others rural poverty alleviation,
enhancing conservation, strengthening rural economies, empowering local community management
capability in order to lead to long term social, economic and ecological benefits [13]. CBNRM has
been implemented using different models notable among which include Zimbabwe s CAMPFIRE
[16], and LIFE in Namibia [13]. According to Nelson and Agrawal [14], most scholars and CBNRM
practitioners reveal that the approach has not fully achieved its objectives. For instance, in Zambia,
CBNRM programmes have been affected by poor governance in the local community institutions
[15,17]. In Botswana, Nelson and Agrawal [14], assert the lack of political will to manage wildlife
using CBNRM model as one of the challenges. Additionally, some models such as CAMPFIRE have
been criticised as meeting only conservation objectives at the expense of

Ecclesiastes Act 2 Passage Analysis
Four Scripture Passages 2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV): But He said to me, My grace is succicient for you,
for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. This passage of Scripture was written by
the apostle Paul as he was reflecting upon the thorn of his flesh. Paul had entreated the Lord asking
why he was burdened with such an affliction, but the Lord answered that [His] grace is sufficient and
was using Paul s suffering to further His purpose. The Lord was teaching Paul that suffering can be
used and that although at times suffering may seem that it is too much to bear, this suffering is actually
being used by the Lord to help grow His people. Paul s thorn was used to prevent him from becoming
conceited at the knowledge of how much the Lord had revealed to him and how much the Lord was
using him (2 Cor. 12:7 9). Ecclesiastes 7:17 (ESV): Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool. Why

Sons And Lovers Character Analysis
Discuss Sons and Lovers as the tragedy of class system, social divisions and Industrialization. D.H
Lawrence s Sons and Lovers takes us back to the heart of industrialization the age where people were
more concerned with money, power and class etc. In the first chapter the use of THE BOTTOMS ,
Hell Row and Bestwood signifies different areas where people belonging to different ranks lived. We
come to know that Mrs. Morel is being forced to move into a new residence at The Bottoms and for
her this is a great loss. Bestwood might not have been a great place for her but at least it was a better
place than The Bottom which was now on the edge of its destruction. Mr. Morel and Mrs. Morel are
the perfect example of the tragedy that the class system brings. The first chapter gives us an insight
into Mrs. Morel s class we discover that Mrs. Morel came of a good old burgher family (Lawrence 33)
thus pointing out that Mrs. Morel s ideals and manners were completely different from those of Mr.
Morel. We also get to know that the thing which pleased Mr. Morel most about Mrs. Morel was When

ugly human. He has to work in unsanitary conditions and he often becomes a victim of accidents.
Even Paul ends up becoming pale and weak after a while because he has to work in the factory.

What Is The Theme Of My Papa s Waltz
While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate
from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly
support the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz as a loving relationship between an
imperfect father and young son.
Roethke s word choice focuses on the mixed emotions he feels towards his father. Although the
combination of the words death and waltzing in the first stanza, the poet describes a serious but
amusing atmosphere around him and his father. The image of a waltz illustrates the requirement of
two individuals to show the closeness of the pair. At the same time, Roethke loves his father, but he
also expresses fear. The poet shows this fear through the use of words as battered and scraped. ...

Native Americans in the United States and Squanto Essay
Squanto Squanto is a Native American who lived in the early seventeenth century in what is now the
Northeast United States. When the English came to this area of America to settle, they became very
fond of Squanto and used him as a translator due to his unique knowledge of the English language
acquired through an earlier voyage to Europe. Squanto helped the Pilgrims adapt to their new
surroundings by providing them with the knowledge that he and his ancestors used to survive when
they first settled in this area. He became known as a friend to the English and a spokesman for his
Native friends (Johnson p.2). However, in helping the English, Squanto realized the power he had

He also acted as an interpreter and a guide to help make the English more comfortable around the
indigenous people (). Without Squanto s help, the Pilgrims would probably have had severe famine
over the next year, and would have lived in constant fear of their indian neighbors (Johnson p.2); the
English could not have survived without the knowledge that Squanto had given them. However, the
friendly side of Squanto is traditionally the only one taught to the American public, in which he is
portrayed as an extremely friendly Native American who devoted much of his time and effort to
helping the European settlers adapt to their newly acquired land. It is true that Squanto was a great
help to the English settlers, however many modern texts, articles, and essays concerning Squanto
neglect to include his betrayal of many Native American tribes in what is now Connecticut and Long
Island(Vine p. 201 ). Many elementary educated students are led to believe that Squanto simply saved
the newcomers from starvation and [taught] the Pilgrims how to survive (David p. 24). This
misconception of Squanto is the exact opposite of what many Natives thought of him(Vine p.201). He
became aware of his position with the English and began to threaten the indians by telling them he
would release the plague (Johnson p.2) on them if they did not do what they were told. He also
provided the English with certain secrets that allowed them to easily defeat other

Unlike Nurse Ratched, McMurphy was clearly acting as part of a group rather than as an autonomous
element. His leadership role in the group can be nicely illustrated throughout the novel in terms of his
relationship to other patients (Lena). Whether it was persuading patients to go deep sea fishing,
inviting prostitutes to the ward, or changing the cleaning schedule to watch the World Series,
McMurphy centralizes his actions around a group. He cares more about the patients as he does
himself, as he was willing to risk his life for George in the bathhouse. When speaking to the nurses to
protect George, McMurphy states, You goddamned coon, McMurphy said, somehow sounding more
tired than mad... McMurphy raised his voice. Goddamned motherfucking n**! (236). McMurphy s
courage to fight the nurses shows his selflessness as a leader, as violating the rules has severe
consequences. To many in the ward, McMurphy serves as a special friend and hero (227). His
inclusivity as a leader to make his group members feel valued makes him successful. Nurse Ratched
lacks the human characteristics that McMurphy has, which is fatal to her leadership. Because she leads
by manipulation and fear, she cannot be trusted. The contrast in leadership styles between Nurse
Ratched and McMurphy leads to an imbalance of power,

Diet For Infant s Gasteroesophasial Reflux
Hypoalergenic diet for infant s gasteroesophasial reflux: A Randomized, case controlled Trial
.Introduction Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is defined as the passive movement of gastric contents
into the esophagus with or without regurgitation or vomiting. It is a physiologic state occurring several
times per day, with no symptoms.(1) . Episodes of regurgitation peaks at about 4 months of age (2).
and it resolves without treatment in 95 % of infants by 1 year of age. .(1) GER disease (GERD) occurs
when reflux of the gastric contents causes some complications, including failure to thrive, feeding or
sleeping problems, chronic respiratory disorders, irrtability , hematemesis, apnea, and life threatening
events.(1) . Infant with GERD needs intervention to resolve complications. The best method for
diagnosis is PH metry + multiple intraluminal impedance but is very difficult doing the procedure in
infants, so diagnosis of it is on base of sign and symptoms and excluding other pathologic causes of
vomiting and severe regurgitation(3) Some authors advised medical treatment for this purpose. They
believe that when infants suffer from any sign and symptoms of GERD more intensive management
like antisecretory agents, antiacids, surface barrier agents and prokinetics is needed.( 1, 3) Drug
treatment of gastroesophageal reflux includes antiacids, H2 blockers or PPIs(Proton pomp inhibitors).

The Rising Costs Of The War
The rising costs of the war, coupled with falling oil prices in 1986, led to the use of non oil exports to
generate revenue because oil income was no longer a guaranteed source of foreign currency. To
finance short term debts, Iran drained its small reserve of foreign currency by allowing advance
drawing on revenues. The FY 1987 budget also reflected the priority of the war effort. The
government again promised to curb inflation, to continue to subsidize basic foodstuffs, and to make
billions available to the import sector, presumably for consumer use. The Iranian fiscal year begins on
March 21 and runs through March 20 of the following calendar year. The budget, presented to the
Majlis by the Planning and Budget Organization, consists of three sections: ordinary, plan, and
defense allocations. Because of conflict between the Revolution s stated opposition to the massive
defense expenditures of the shah and the high cost of the war with Iraq that began less than one year
after the Revolution, by late 1987 there had been no fiscal year in which defense expenditures were
not severely understated for domestic political reasons. As a result, attempting to set forth actual
figures on the money supply, especially as a function of fiscal policy, was almost pointless. The
preamble to the Constitution vests supreme authority in the faqih. According to Article 5, the faqih is
the just and pious jurist who is recognized by the majority of the people at any period as best qualified

A Powerful Argument Analysis
The introduction section comprises of powerful argument techniques and the use of rhetoric
everywhere. One key point is the technique of commonplace, one of the building blocks of persuasion,
which is information or knowledge that is commonly shared among an audience that creates an
attitude of shared thinking. For example, Heinrichs uses pop culture examples of the Matrix, Britney
Spears and Animal House to better connect with the audience, therefore, making his topic more
interesting and relatable. Another key point is the technique of seduction where you manipulate
someone to desire something through appeals to emotion and the senses. Heinrichs uses the Food

The first step is setting your goal in what you what you want to achieve or obtain. True victory is
achieved when you get what you want from the other person not, necessarily, when you outscore your
opponent. The second step is determining your goals for your audience so you can determine different
techniques to change their mind. The persuasion of people can be achieved easier when you change
their mood, their opinion and their desire. The third step is determining the issue so you can meet your
goals. Blame, values and choice make up the three key categories of issues. To produce a productive
argument pinpointing the issue is imperative. The fourth step is selecting a correct tense to prevent
misinterpretations and accusations. The use of past tense determines guilt and deals out punishment
while the present tense distinguishes groups, gives praise and condemnation. The future tense
indicates future goals and how to achieve them. The final step is understanding and fitting into the
audience. In knowing the audience s beliefs and values you gain the mentality and the knowledge of
commonplace. The knowledge of this allows you to use decorum to better connect with the audience
and meet their expectations.
In chapter 13 of Thank you for Arguing, deductive and inductive logic are used to reach from a
commonplace to a conclusion and likewise, however, I m still confused in how the process of that

How Does Rebecca Grand Use Irony In The Labyrinth
Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that child be taken, I took him. You cowered

have done it all for you! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn t that
generous? These words spoken by Jareth the Goblin king perfectly describe how the main character
felt throughout the Labyrinth a movie made from a story by Rebecca Grand. In the story Labyrinth the
author, Rebecca Grand, uses many different literary devices such as irony to surprise the audience.
The first type of irony type of irony the author uses in Labyrinth is dramatic. Dramatic irony is the
type of irony where the audience knows what is going to happen but the characters don t. One
example of dramatic irony is when Jareth, the Goblin king, tells Hoggle that if Sarah kissed him that
he would become the king of stink. This is dramatic irony because Sarah didn t know about what
Jareth said but the audience is aware. Another example, of dramatic irony is when Jareth s goblin army

Situational irony involves a discrepancy between what is expected to happen and what actually
happens. One of the best examples of situational irony is when Jareth said to Hoggle don t lose your

fiery creatures to take off Hoggles head but they actually try to take Sarah s head. In addition, another
example of situational irony is when Jareth gives Sarah another chance to get her brother back. This is
an example of situational irony because the audience expects Jareth to take the baby and be done but
he allows Sarah a chance to reclaim her

Self Care Proposal Paper Objective: To reduce hospital readmissions for heart disease patients in the Chicagoland area by providing patients with resources to better understand their conditions and live a healthier lifestyle with improved diet and exercise. Target Population: Our proposal will bring healthcare to patients in a direct, affordable manner, overcoming financial and transportation barriers to aid low income patients. Our target patients are those who want to actively care for themselves but do not know where to start, and those who may be too restricted by their busy lifestyle and other priorities to make extra efforts in self care. Direct home visits, provision of healthier foods in food deserts, and increased availability of resources for management of their conditions will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We will initially work with University of Chicago hospitals and initiate home visits with 100 patients; after a period of three months, we will extend the home visits to 200 more patients, 300 more after another 3 months, and so forth. Successful implementation of home visits in Washington Park after about 1 2 years will allow for expansion of the program to more hospitals in Chicago communities. Pillboxes, weighing scale, and weight logs can be immediately implemented into many area hospitals, the minimal cost of which will be covered by the hospital system and funds from non profit organizations and philanthropists. Metrics: Number of calls to the helplines upon advertising, number of dietitians involved in home visits, number of community centers and farms participating in the healthy food sale initiative, and number of phone calls and website pre orders for the food delivery system will be some of the metrics that will quantitatively measure the success of this ... The main component that a horror fiction must have is the success in stimulating that feelings of horror, which is defined as a painful feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, or revolting . This feeling can be propelled in an audience through sub genres of horror such as serial killers, monsters, paranormal and of course, zombies. Horror fiction has evolved since the late eighties, which is a period know as horror s boom time , losing its morals to the modern theme of blood and gore. The Next Levels Of Sympathy In Music Sympathy is just feeling for someone else s problems whether that be in sorrow, pain, anger, etc. Empathy could be said to be the next level of sympathy, as feeling empathy is knowing and understanding someone s feelings on a subject, It is a lot easier to feel sympathy for someone than empathy, but just feeling sympathy for someone doesn t make you a bad person. It might be for someone you see across the street who just dropped their ice cream cone. I feel as though empathy will not focus entirly on the subject of art itself, but rather on the person creating the art and their feelings while creating it. • 10. Rappers Vs Griots Many argue that the past griot s and the rappers of today in Africa, are as different as an apple and orange. *You have those who believe the foundation of both practices are one hundred percent different. Everything that makes a griot who they are, is completely the opposite of what shapes an African rapper. *On contrast, there are also those who presume that the message and way of execution are the same for both lyracis. *The belief that the two are different, mostly comes from those of older age, or who have a lineage of griots that backtrack throughout the years. *While those who believe the opposite, are of younger age and have more modern day experiences. So although socially, the African griot and rapper are on two different platforms, the message and ways of expression are tantamount, however, the fundamentals are contrasting. As time progressed and rappers begin to make appearances in the 1990 s, griots were still in full effect. • 11. The Blade Of The Craft Guild The Blade of the Craft Guild realized his mission would be much more difficult than he expected when less than twenty steps into the Wretched Quarter a man in a torn and dirty black robe confronted him. The Blade was covered in filth, had on a dirty and torn yellow tunic, and should have looked like any other wretched Craft Guild citizen returning from across the river. Yet the man made a beeline to him. Name your guild, the man asked. I am a Custodian. I clean the floors in the Warehouse District. The Blade couldn t quite believe he was seeing a man in black. Maybe there was some roving gang that liked to pretend they were the heir of Pietro or something. He dropped his hand to the stiletto sheathed against his leg. Where do you live? The Blade nodded in some vague direction. Over that aways. Which street? The man in black was not backing down. The Blade couldn t quite figure out what was going on, but he didn t want to raise any alarms either. Who wants to know? The Blade hoped that moving to an aggressive approach might do the trick. The gang member was probably used to people cowering in front of him. To the Blade s shock, the man in black didn t even ask another question. He reached out and grabbed the Blade by the arm. • 12. To What Extent Does the Reform Act of 1832 Deserve Its... The title, great is reserved for a select few characters and documents in history. Alfred earned his through establishing stable change, peace and improvement. So too the Magna Carta, which brought about greater justice and freedom for the common man and limited royal influence. In the same ways, the reform act of 1832 warranted the title. It was by no means a revolutionary measure, nor the final solution of a great constitutional question as Russell had put it, but both symbolically and physically, it spelt change for Britain. This in itself showed its greatness despite Pitt having attempted reform in the 1780s, and the issue having repeatedly returned to parliament, no reform had been achieved. The fact that finally after so much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Getting bills past the commons was no longer a difficulty: the second reform bill passed by 140 votes. The lords, however, declined the second bill by a majority of 41. On the very same day, rioting began in Derby and Nottingham and spread throughout England over the following days. Britain had never been so close to revolution in October 1831: with no police force (other than a minor presence in London), the army too small and too poorly trained to cope and rioting across the country, all the signs were in place for a rebellion in frustration of lack of reform. Nottingham castle was burnt down, Bristol Bishop s Palace was attacked, killing 12 and injuring 400, prisoners in Nottingham were set free, the church was specifically targeted (as 21 of 26 Bishops had voted against reform) and there were widespread disturbances and mass demonstrations. The situation was far more serious than the 1790s or 1819; the repressive legislation that had worked then would not here. Reform was necessary to avert revolution. Similar activities continued after the failure of the third reform bill; although slightly less frenzied, activities such as withdrawing savings from banks to precipitate an economic crisis were just as damaging. Finally (after Peel refused to serve under Wellington, so the government remained with Grey), the reform act was passed. As soon as news of this spread, civil disruption quietened. • 13. Mere Christianity Analysis Grace Hardin Professor Laughter Business Ethics 24 September 2017 Mere Christianity In C.S Lewis novel, Mere Christianity, he dives into the differences that can be within a moral code, while also proving that they are all the same that the base. Lewis also tries to answer a question that does not have a simple and clear cut answer: why do we feel bad when we misbehave, if everyone misbehaves? Early in book one, the focus is on what we feel and what those emotions mean. He uses an example of hearing someone call for help. There would be three feelings. First, a desire to help. Second, a desire to keep out of danger. And third, a gut feeling that the first desire is right and the second desire is wrong. Therefore, morality may be related to instinct, but it is not a one to one result of it. Also, there is no instinct that is moral all the time without fail, further proving that instinct does not equal morality. One example that resonated the most while going through this book was Lewis point bout the Salem witch trials and how one can use this to argue the consistency, or lack thereof, of morality. One could say that these trials are proof how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explains that Christianity is not meant to be simple or generic. Some critics of the religion complain that it is too complicated, but there is then the follow up point that life is not simple, so why should religion be? Christianity forces people to put trust in the unpredictable, and sometimes makes them act outside of their instinct. For most of the second book, Lewis goes very deep into the fundamentals of Christianity and what he believes. He has many viewpoints that are not widely accepted in the general world of faith, but it most definitely makes the brain work a little harder. He explains his reasoning behind some of these rules and views in book three of the novel, and he also works through some of the stereotypes of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only did he terrorize and kill thousands of innocents, he also personally brutalized and attacked young women against their will. This also means that her courage is unpredictable, at one point it may be strong, but then the slightest thing is enough to topple it. Later in the book however, she fights it, Dede could not run away. Courage! It was the first time she had used that word to herself and understood exactly what it meant. • 15. Neutron Star Research Paper A neutron star is created from an old, burnt out star. When the core of the star has burnt out and turned into iron, energy is no longer being produced and the core of the star condenses very quickly. This compacts all of the protons (+) and electrons ( ) creating neutrons (o) and neutrinos which are particles that do not carry a charge but are similar to electrons. Yes, this is probably where the name Neutron Star came from. During the condensing of the star s core, the neutrinos are able to escape, but the neutrons are squished together so much that their density is the same of an atomic nucleus density. A violent explosion happens during this process and its called a supernova . To put this into perspective, imagine taking something the size of our sun, if not bigger, and compacting it into an area the size of a city. A lot of people still love being able to hold a book in there hand to read before bed or on a train and with a piece of technology it just wouldn t be the same. Even though you can change the font size on an e book it can still cause strain to the eye if there is a glare on the screen which is very likely to occur if the sun is out or in some cases a light bulb can cause a glare on a screen. Printed books done need to be charged which means you can read on the go no matter what, some people would find it frustrating if they were in the middle of an amazing chapter of a book and all of a sudden it switches off. E books also have an unreliable lifespan but printed books can last decades provided they are well looked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gladwell strategically uses the Zimbardo Prison Experiment, because this shows that with the two previous cases that the possibility of the subject being a criminal was eliminated. The objective of soccer is to score goals by passing the ball down the field into the opposing team s goal. The objective is to score more goals than your opponent. Soccer is popular all over the world, but why isn t it popular here in the U.S? Sports like basketball, Football, Baseball, and Tennis are all popular here in the U.S, yet, soccer doesn t get as much attention. The U.S international team has qualified for the biggest international tournament, The World Cup, for 32 years in a row. They never won the World cup, but they have been performing really well over the years. If soccer was more popular here in the U.S, they would have more people wanting to play the sport, causing them to improve massively as a team. A major reason soccer isn t popular here is because the U.S only has 1 league to play in. For example, all major countries have over 2 4 leagues so that more teams can play to reach for the top. The U.S has a league called Major League Soccer, also known as the MLS. Firstly, the MLS only has 22 teams in its league, that is more than most popular leagues in Europe and Spain! More teams mean more excitement and fans right? Well not necessarily, The MLS might have more teams than any other league in Europe, but it is very boring to watch. • 21. Carburettors Advantages And Disadvantages In order for an internal combustion engine to operate correctly, a mixture of fuel and air needs to enter into the combustion chamber, pressurised and then ignited by a spark ignition which then drives the piston to rotate. The way that the fuel is introduced into the combustion chamber has evolved over the decades. Before electronic fuel injection, carburettors were the primary method of mixing air and fuel. Carburettors work on the Bernoulli s principle: the faster the air moves, the lower its static pressure and the higher its dynamic pressure. The throttle actuates carburettor mechanisms which meter the flow of air being pulled into the engine, the speed of this flow and therefore its pressure determines the amount of fuel drawn into the airstream. Carburettors consist of an intake of air being pushed into the intake manifold to the engine. The build up of fast dynamic pressure will initiate fuel delivery action by providing a vacuum for fuel to enter the intake with the manifold propagating as a mixture chamber to atomise the fuel into the air to create an ideal mixture. Carburettors use Bernoulli s principle, where the speed of air intake entering the engine intake manifold in relation to the potential difference of pressure will meter the correct amount of fuel to be sucked in. The disadvantage of a carburettor is that the amount of fuel being delivered cannot be fully controlled and carburettors tend to have higher fuel to air ratios and sometimes flood the engine ... Because of increased mobility due to globalization, health professionals are able to cross borders with stunning speed in order to deliver care and patients in need of certain treatments have benefited from the ability to leave their country for care. The Internet makes it easier to alert the relevant authorities to the outbreak of a disease and to share information on health issues. However, globalization has had negative effects on health as well. When the Europeans first traveled and colonized the world, they brought with them terrible diseases, killing over 90% of the population. The Aztec, Maya, and Inca tribes were the most affected by these diseases. International travel and globalization has brought many diseases, previously native to certain countries, all over the world. For example, Chagas Disease, a disease spread by insects brought over from Mexican immigrants, has infected more than 500,000 citizens of America. Illegal drug trade, another result of globalization, is also having a negative effect on health. It was an era filled with fear and paranoia, not simply of the unknown, but of neighbours, friends, and family. World War II, the atomic bomb, the Cold War, made it hard for Americans to continue their optimism historian Stephen Ambrose commented. This paradigm shift is evident in the texts from the era, and by studying them we come to understand the values and atmosphere of the time and the effect those values had on the texts. The Cold War began after the end of World War II, after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States of America; that continued until the early 90s with the dissolving of the Soviet Union. After nearly two decades of anti pirate policies in the colonies, colonial officials no longer deemed it necessary to aggressively convict anyone suspected of piracy out of fear of losing their charter, as they had prior to 1705. Furthermore, the defining legal question leading to extreme ambiguity in the prosecution of pirates during the seventeenth century was at what point did acting outside of one s commission constitute an act of piracy? The conclusion of Great Britain s hostilities with France and Spain in 1713 rendered this question irrelevant as the new wave of pirates targeted primarily British, not neutral or allied ships, clearly defining their aggression as piracy. The change in targets also reduced the prosecution s need to rely on accomplice testimony, a source of controversy in civil law proceedings, since attacks occurring off nearby shores provided easier access to victim testimony. Finally, the increase in colonial newspapers and the dissemination of their publication of piracy trials reports did assist in reducing procedural inconsistencies, but not in the way previously suggested. Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM): Opening Doors for Market Oriented Approaches Over the past twenty years, CBNRM has been adopted as a panacea for achieving sustainable NRM and rural economic development in East and Southern Africa [13]. CBNRM was born out of the wisdom that most causes of rural resource degradation take place due to centralised governance systems that exclude local communities from accessing resources in protected areas [14]. Thus, Nyirenda et al. [15], note that CBNRM should contribute to improved collective action in NRM. The net benefits of this approach include among others rural poverty alleviation, enhancing conservation, strengthening rural economies, empowering local community management capability in order to lead to long term social, economic and ecological benefits [13]. CBNRM has been implemented using different models notable among which include Zimbabwe s CAMPFIRE [16], and LIFE in Namibia [13]. According to Nelson and Agrawal [14], most scholars and CBNRM practitioners reveal that the approach has not fully achieved its objectives. For instance, in Zambia, CBNRM programmes have been affected by poor governance in the local community institutions [15,17]. The Lord was teaching Paul that suffering can be used and that although at times suffering may seem that it is too much to bear, this suffering is actually being used by the Lord to help grow His people.
