Point Of View Of The Penelopiad
A story could be told numerous ways depending on whose point of view you look at. It s like if there
was a car accident in an intersection. There would be multiple perspectives as to what happened.
There would be the people involved points of view, the people at the other spots of the intersection,
and any other possible witnesses who were for example, walking to their car in the parking lot near by.
Greek myths are like car accidents. The events happen, the stories are told and repeated for
generations and eventually written down, but they can get mis translated in the process depending on
whose side you look at. In The Penelopiad, we see Penelope s perspective of her life and what she
thought of Odysseus while he was gone. In the

Getty Museum Vs. A Walk At Dusk
Connected in Origin, but Different in Approach Art is not only about what you see, it s about what you
feel when you look at it. Walking through a museum, it s like walking through emotions. There are so
many different feelings and emotions you get depending on the work of art you re experiencing. Both
works of arts I got to experience at the Getty museum were very interesting and unique. The first work
of art was A Walk at Dusk (1830 1835) by German artist Caspar David Friedrich. Its medium was oil
on canvas with dimensions of 33.3 x 43.7 cm. The second work of art was Mornington Crescent with
the Statue of Sickert s Father in law, 1966 by German artist Frank Auerbach. Its medium was also oil
but on a Masonite attached to auxiliary wooden framework with dimensions of 122 x 152.5 cm. At a
first look both paintings seem extremely different but when you look closer, deep in their core they are
quite similar. Both paintings depict a really meaningful place, but in A Walk at Dusk the place is ...

A Walk at Dusk is a very small painting so you experience it more at a personal level. One must be
really close to it to appreciate it s detail. It s a more inviting painting, which makes sense since it s
more of a spiritual connection the viewers will have with it. On the opposite the Mornington Crescent
is a bigger painting and it s also intimidating when looking at it. You don t really want to or have to
get close to it. The vibrant and intense colors make it more uncomfortable for the viewer. This might
be done so that the viewers can physically feel what s happening in the scene, it s not really a place
one wants to be at. The emotions these paintings evoke were very similar. In both painting s you see
themes of darkness and pain. Both portrayed very melancholic events of suffering and sorrow yet in
both you get this small but significant sense of hope that it s the take away

Comparison of Mid Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My First Sonne
The above poems are written by 3 different people and on reading them they seem to be about very
different things. But at heart, they are about death and the pain that appears afterwards. Seamus
Heaney s
Mid Term Break is a memory of his four year old brother s death.
Gillian Clarke s The Field Mouse is about death in a political conflict compared to a death in nature.
Finally On My First Sonne by
Ben Johnson is about the death of his son and the religious view of the situation.
Both Heaney and Johnson s poems are about the death of a close loved one and how it is dealt with
emotionally and in reality. On looking at the title of Heaney s poem, you almost ... Show more content

It also shows that his son was possibly the only bright point in his life and that he feels since he has
been taken away, he has almost no reason to live. After this event he also feels that you shouldn t get
to attached to something as he says As what he loves may never like too much. This obviously means
that whatever you love, don t get attached to it, as you will end up losing it.
Clarke, on the other hand, has a more general observation to death and tells it from the sort of view
most people might have on war or conflict. Like Heaney s Mid Term Break, when you see the title of
Clark s poem you assume that it will be a happy poem about a cute and cuddly mouse. This theory is
almost exactly the opposite of what the poem is actually about. You can see that the poem is about the
death and destruction in Bosnia War and compares it to the death and destruction that occurs while
harvesting.
This poem again is a memory like Mid Term Break, and at the end it shows her feeling and attitude
towards war and violence. You can tell that her feelings are negative since she writes the line my
neighbour turned stranger . This I think means that people you once were good friends with would
now become your enemy. So unlike the other 2 poems where it tells that death is a natural occurrence,
this poem tells that a person s main enemy is another person that could possibly be your best friend.
In Johnson s poem you can tell he is a very religious

Economic Contribution of Migrant Workers in Bangladesh
Introduction Bangladesh is located in South Asia. It is the seventh most populous country in the world
and is mostly densely inhabited. The poverty level, however, has fallen by more than 20%, helped by
its prominent agricultural sector. The Bangladeshi economy is helped by its big garment sector, which
contributes more than two thirds of the country s trade. The major challenge to prosperous growth is
the vulnerability of the land to cyclones and floods. However, even with such challenges, Bangladesh
has experienced a growth rate of 5% since 1990. This growth has been helped by remittances from
expatriates as well. Since 1975, there has been a two fold increase in the per capita GDP. During the
2008 global economic recession, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Hatchery And Stocking Enterprise
Section 3: How This Case Relates TO CEQA In this case the plaintiff, CBD, litigated CDFW on the
following principles of CEQA: rules governing PEIRs, baseline setting, deferral of mitigation and
alternative analysis. In regards to PEIRs it is defined by CEQA as an EIR which may be prepared on a
series of actions that can be characterized as one large project and are related [among other
possibilities] ... [a]s individual activities carried out under the same authorizing statutory or regulatory
authority and having generally similar environmental effects which can be mitigated in similar ways
(CEQA Guidelines, 15168, subd. (a)(4).) In this regards both courts concluded that the hatchery and
stocking enterprise was such a project. In regards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exception states that measures may specify performance standards which would mitigate the
significant effect of the project and which may be accomplished in more than one specified way.
(CEQA Guidelines, 15126.4, subd. (a)(1)(B).) In addition, it was concluded through a prior case that
when for practical reasons, mitigation measures cannot be fully formulated at the time of project
approval, the lead agency may commit itself to devising them at a later time, provided the measures
are required to satisfy specific performance criteria articulated at the time of project approval
(Sacramento Old City Assn. v. City Council (1991) 229 Cal.App.3d 1011, 1028 1029.) Finally, in
regards to alternative analysis the purpose of a no project alternative is to allow decision makers to
compare the impacts of approving the proposed project with the impacts of not approving the
proposed project (CEQA GUIDELINES, 15126.6, subd. (e)(1).) In this court case if the project is the
revision of an existing land use or regulatory plan, policy or ongoing operation, the no project
alternative will be the continuation of the existing plan, policy or operation into the future (CEQA
Guidelines, 15126.6, subd. (e)(3)(A).) The case in addition supports the

She was forty when SeaWorld killed her. Dawn Brancheau took blunt force trauma to the head, neck,
and torso before drowning. The SeaWorld trainer died doing what she loved, which was interacting
with orcas. The killer whale, Tilikum, attacked her.
Opening in 1964, theme park and entertainment company Seaworld has three locations: Orlando,
Florida; San Diego, California; San Antonio, Texas. SeaWorld s most popular attractions include their
orca shows, including One Ocean and Blue Horizons. Once an orca belongs to SeaWorld, it stays there
for the rest of its life.
SeaWorld should be shut down for its mistreatment of orcas.

Born September 25th, 1985 at SeaWorld Orlando, Kalina was the original baby Shamu. According to
British Divers Marine Life Rescue, Kalina was moved in 1990 to SeaWorld Ohio for 10 months,
SeaWorld San Diego for 8 months, then SeaWorld San Antonio. Kalina s mom, Katina, was never a
very vocal whale according to former SeaWorld trainer, Samantha Berg. After Kalina was taken away,
Katina stayed in the corner of a pool, shaking, screeching, and crying. There was nothing that you
could call that, watching it, besides grief, said Berg. In 1994, Kalina returned to SeaWorld Orlando.
Due to such a long absence, her mother ignored her for the rest of her life.
Captivity is detrimental to orcas health. According to PETA, less than 1% of orcas in the wild have
collapsed dorsal fins. A collapsed dorsal fin is a sign of depression, illness, injury, or dehydration. In
SeaWorld, 100% of captive male Orcas have a collapsed dorsal fin. Orcas are captured from the
oceans and thrown together in a pool. Though all have that signature black and white pattern, they are
not all the same. Neuroscientist Lori Marino discovered that orcas are highly emotional due to an extra
part of their brain that even humans do not have. An orca s sense of self is distributed among the

Pros And Cons Of The Government Shutdown
November 14, 1995 is a day that is remembered by some as a terrible day in history. While November
19, 1995 is a day most Americans are grateful for. These are the dates the government shutdown, and
the date that the shutdown concluded and the headaches were over for the citizens of America. Or so
they thought. A partial government shutdown again proceeded to happen on December 16, 1995 to
January 6, 1996. It is days like this that made America what it is today (E. Green). In 1995 President
Bill Clinton and Republican House were in a stalemate. They could not agree on budget spending. The
Republican House was primarily led by house speaker Newt Gingrich. Clinton and Gingrich were
fighting over how the budget should be cut. Contrary to popular ... Show more content on

President Bill Clinton obtained many of his votes due to how he handled the shutdown and the
Republican house. Potentially, if Clinton didn t have to manage the shutdown then he may have not
been reelected. Maybe America would have been better off with a new president, but we cannot
change that past. What is done is done and we have to live with our choices that we have made. When
people think of the government shutdown many think of quite simply the downfalls. This is most
logically because the negatives of a government shutdown over power the positives. Just like most
things though, there were some plus sides to the shutdown. Gingrich stated that the shutdown led to a
balanced budget deal, and without the shutdown it may have never been arrived at (E. Green) Neither
side ever wanted the issue to become so out of hand that it was forced to shut down, but that is what it
led to. The shutdown was tough for both sides. Most Americans believe that the shutdown was the
Republicans fault, (National Journal) but it was actually fault on both sides. Both sides were too
bullheaded to realize the consequences that could arise and solve their problems without a fight. There
is no perfect way to solve this problem. Mainly because it is over a big issue. Potentially if one side
would have been more willing to work together, maybe some of the dispute could have been resolved

Faustian Bargain Analysis
A Faustian Bargain is a complicated idea which translates in popular terms to selling one s soul to the
devil. This definition consists of four layers. The first layer consists of two different aspects. The first
aspect is doing something evil such as making a deal with the devil in order for personal gain. The
second aspect is in pursuit of a lofty ideal. In pursuing the lofty ideal; the ideal is corrupted because of
the methods to achieve it. The second layer is an unwillingness or inability to see things as they really
are, to see evil as evil. The third layer is the felling of guilt after making a deal with the devil. The
final layer is a third party attempting to convince the person from completing a Faustian Bargain.
Within this layer one must seek whether they are a victim of external or internal influence. Several
common elements of a Faustian Bargain emerge when we compare Button Button and Dr. Faustus.
Those components include motivations of lofty ideals or self interest, the inability to see things as they
really are, remorse, and the persuasion of an external or internal influence.
Though Norma and Faustus both make a bargain with the devil, their motivations differ. Norma s
motivations are based on self interest. Barnet states that the common definition of a Faustian Bargain
is that some people are so eager to gain immediate power that they engage in actions that they know
are evil (Barnet, vii). Norma s self interest leads her to engage in evil

Access Controls And Access Control
This chapter is basically based on access control in regards to computer information security. Access
control is seen as the fundamental mechanism put in place to help make information security
successful. Access control feature, in a particular system, will control how users can communicate,
access and modify system resources and programs. Access control was described in this chapter as a
very useful tool for the computer information security because it helps with ensuring that unauthorized
person or program have no access to what they are not supposed to. Access control is regarded as the
first line of defense to control, protect and monitor organization s resource s availability,
confidentiality and integrity.
Furthermore, this chapter illustrates how users can be granted access to network resources. It
explained that for a user to be allowed access to a network he must satisfy the condition of
identification and authentication. The identification part could be something of user ID, name or
account number. The identification key is not enough to grant access, but it s simply a way of
introducing yourself by saying who you are. Then, at that point the system will request for you to
authenticate yourself (confirm who you said you are) by requesting for an authentication key. The
authentication key could be password, passphrase, personal identification number (PIN), or a token.
Once, the authentication is verified and the system found it to be correct, then access will be

Defense Threat Reduction Agency Analysis
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is a multifaceted organization, providing expertise to
America and our allies in order to reduce the potential threat of weapons of mass destruction. This
organization was developed to mitigate the potential threat, providing reach back capabilities,

Fame And Fortune By Horatio Alger Summary
After reading the first couple of chapters of Horatio Alger s novel Fame and Fortune or, The Progress
of Richard Hunter, I saw a lot of issues in relation to work. The one that stood out the most, was the
issue of education. The amount of education a person has should not define who they are as a person,
or have restriction on the kind of work they can or cannot do.
The book takes place in a time period were educations defines who you are as a person. If a person has
little education or no education at all they are looked down on, but if a person went to school and was
fully educated, they are not looked down on. People look up to them, and they start to develop this
scene of respect and admiration towards them. The main character in Horatio

Assisi s Franciscan Values
Quincy University is based on set of Franciscan values that define the school and its teachings. These
values here at QU were based on St. Francis of Assisi himself. St. Francis of Assisi looked at the
world in a different light than many people of his time did. Even though Assisi s values are apart of
Quincy University many students still do not fully understand his teachings, his writings, his ways of
life, and the order he created. St. Francis was a very interesting man, which led a very interesting
lifestyle that many people were not fond of. Everyone has their own opinions about St. Francis of
Assisi, some believe that he was crazy and others believe he might have been a scholar. Assisi might
have had a different way of life than others, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis of Assisi was able to create an order for his followers, he was also able to come up with a set
of Franciscan values. These values are important to the way that he believed led the best life. Five of
the most important Franciscan values to me are service, peace and reconciliation, creation,
transformation, and inclusion. Service is not only giving, but it is also about receiving. When
volunteering your service you are helping other, and you are learning more about yourself at the same
time. St Francis of Assisi lived in poverty so he could love and care for everyone. St. Francis was
always helping out people out of the kindness of his heart; he never expected any service or money in
return. Peace and reconciliation is also another important value that Francis believed in. Peace and
reconciliation means that if I hurt someone I should ask for forgiveness, but if someone hurts me I
should be able to forgive them. St Francis of Assisi lived by these words knowing that he wanted to
live in peace with all and to be reconciled to all. Next, Francis believed in and loved all things created.
Francis believed that creation is a reflection of God s goodness and beauty, which led him to believe
all humans are members of the same family. Understanding creation allows for us to understand each
other and all of creation better. The value of transformation is the way of growing, creating or
destroying. Transformation allows us to encounter new thoughts, people, a

Holmes Is Not A Successful Leader
Theranos Chairman, CEO, and Founder Elizabeth Holmes is a successful leader; However, Holmes is
not a successful manager. On a leadership basis Elizabeth Holmes has established a vision for
Theranos and has assembled many others to follow that vision, Holmes embraces change making

Theranos stays innovative and goal oriented. On a managerial spectrum, Holmes fails to set precise
standards, does not follow the controlling function of management, and ignores planning and decision

Romeo Juliet Comparison
Romeo and Juliet Often people say that William Shakespeare was and still is a legend. They are
correct. It is amazing how Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet written centuries ago can be better
than any movie productions of Romeo and Juliet, which had much better technology to work with.
Although the films appeared more appealing, they left out some major parts. The play had better mood
and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better presentation. This speech will
prove why William Shakespeare s original play should be taught to students rather than any film
versions. One major difference between the play and the movie occurs in the mood. An example of
this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play, Romeo and Juliet act very serious. The
reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can
make something without an equal (Act 2, Scene 6) which is a very intelligent thing to say. Whereas, in
the movie they kiss and giggle the entire time. This leads the viewer to believe that film versions
wanted the two to look like fools, that they could not do anything the way it is normally done because
they are children in search of quick love. This is bad because it is not very realistic. In real life, young
adults would take the matter seriously because they know it is a major step in life. Because the play is
not entirely trying to make the two look bad, it is the better production.

Symbols In Looking For Alaska, By John Green
Looking For Alaska is a dynamic novel which was published in 2005 by Dutton Books, and is written
by world famous John Green. The story which John Green tells is about a group of intelligent but lost
teenagers, who are freshmen in Culver Creek Boarding School. The story revolves around Alaska
Young, Miles Pudge Halter and Chip Cornel Martins. These teens are contrary to shallow, more or less
opposite; and their thoughts are as deep as the Mariana Trench. Their complicated way of looking at
life, seeking simplicity and grasp in a complex world eventually hurts them.

Rhetorical Analysis On The Perils Of Indifference
He was finally free, but there was no joy in his heart. He thought there never would be again . This
quote stated by Elie Wiesel from his speech, The Perils of Indifference , refers to the day Elie Wiesel
got liberated from the Holocaust when he was young. The Holocaust was just one of the many horrific
tragedies that occurred during that century. In hopes of changing the future for the better, Wiesel
decides to deliver a speech about helping the victims of injustice. He gives this speech intended for the
President, Mrs. Clinton, members of Congress, Ambassador Holbrooke, Excellencies, and friends
hoping that they will make positive changes for the future. By using rhetorical strategies such as
anaphora, rhetorical questions, and ethos, Wiesel tries to help the victims of injustice and prevent
future tragedies from happening. Throughout Wiesel s speech, he used a copious amount of anaphora.
Wiesel used this technique to help get his point across to the audience. He explains how easy it is to
use indifference; consequently, people are taking opportunities from others. Wiesel explains, our work,
our dreams, our hopes (Wiesel 1 2), to show the audience what indifference is effecting in their lives.
By repeating the word our before each subject that is being affected, he is showing the audience that
the victims being affected have their own opportunity for work, dreams, and hopes. By others being
indifferent, the victims may not have those opportunities anymore.

Walt Disney Personality

Bold and humble. He always liked to take risks, and he was the vision of a real leader.
Everyone around him enjoyed his presence, many looked up and still do look up to him.

Walt Disney
Developments to becoming a better leader
The only skill that was deeply instilled in Walt Disney every since he was a child was grit, he stuck to
dreams and what he wanted to accomplish even after through all of his failures and small successions.
He pursued his dreams, working night and day to make sure that one day his day would be seen by the
billions.
During WWII the military lacked the skill to acquire money: taxes from the people in order to keep
funding the war. Disney unwillingly decided to help the military only because they took up residence
in his office, we persuaded the people by creating a movie Walt created a film starring Donald Duck
called, The New Spirit. The film did much to inspire Americans to pay their taxes, something not
commonly done back then.
Being family oriented and an involved father, he thought of ways to incorporate his dream on a larger
scale. He came up with ideas such as an amusement park, and not just that but the hope that his

Social Norms Of Social Identity
Social identities have a lot of significance on people s lives today. People have adopted these norms of
behaviors, the values and beliefs which come along with social identities. Various groups within the
society have different expectations and standards of behavior which are now seen as a completely
natural thing rather than just beliefs. There are different norms of social identities which include the
race/ethnicity, religion, class, gender and sexuality. This paper will focus more on the class and gender
social identities.
In my culture, the main two social identities which are considered the most are gender and class. They
highly contribute on how different categories of people are perceived in the society and this
determines the how people relate in the society. Looking at gender, people believe that the difference
in gender is connected to different responsibilities. The way ladies are treated is different from the way
men are treated in the society. This is according to what people strongly believe about gender
difference and as a result, different people are valued differently in different situations. Not only that,
there are also different expectations from each gender. Looking at the responsibilities aspect, there are
jobs which are considered to be suitable for men while others are seen to be suitable for women. This
is not because the women cannot do the jobs which are perceived to be suitable for men, bit it is
simply because these jobs are perceived to be manly. For instance, most of engineering jobs are said to
be manly. Engineering is mostly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

believes that men have many responsibilities as compared to women and that s why they are paid

Justice in The Republic by Plato Essay
Justice in The Republic by Plato
In Plato s The Republic, justice is depicted as a major part in a perfect society. Justice is said to breed
a good society, whereas injustice will breed a bad one. Plato defines justice in dialogue as keeping
what is properly one s own and doing one s own job. (Pg. 146) Under the rules set for this perfect
society, people are to practice the one profession at which they perform best. This profession also
corresponds to a certain social class. Under no circumstances can one change this profession. Along
with a set occupation, Plato has also determined that the perfect community would regulate what
children (and the community) are taught, and to what the children will be exposed. In Plato s ... Show

Suppose a person is exposed to certain injustices that others commit. Plato feels that this exposure will
plant a sort of seed inside a person s head. Thus leading him or her to commit an injustice of the same
kind, or simply increasing the chance that a person will commit a similar act.
However, there is a huge hypocrisy (or disadvantage) within this theory. With Plato s definition of
justice, a person should keep what is his or her own. Some would say that person s history is also their
own. People have a right to know their history, and the truths about their community. Plato wants to
take away passages in stories, lines within songs, and make all characters in plays perfect. This, in
itself, is an injustice to a community. The stories, folklores, and fables of a community are meant to
teach. In American society, children learn not to tell lies from the Boy Who Cried Wolf. The character
in the story was not perfect and committed a bad act; however, children learn from his mistake. In
Plato s perfect society, he takes away what the community rightfully owns.
When adopting Plato s suggested way of life, one must be prepared to sacrifice his or her past
(neglecting his definition of justice). This crucial injustice is needed for the good of Plato s suggested
community. Similarly, in the book Ishmael, the author tells a story about post war Germany. In this
story is a scenario where the Nazi s had won and wiped out all other

I believe that industrialization was generally beneficial to the lives of the American people and the
history of the United States. Several of the advantages are outlined in the above paragraph. Overall,
Americans enjoyed a higher standard of living and a longer life span, thanks to the Industrial
Revolution. ...before the eighteenth century there was no mechanism by which long term sustainable
growth could take place. By the mid nineteenth century such growth was an established fact of life:
for the first time rapid population increase was accompanied by sustained growth in income per
person. (More, C. 2000).
In this brief paper, we have discussed two elements of industrialization that positively affected
American lives and two elements of industrialization that negatively affected American lives. One of
these negative elements was the employment of children in the industrial arena. The second negative
aspect was that the roots of our environmentally challenged society stemmed from the Industrial
Revolution.
From a positive stance, American grew and prospered economically, and became a superpower on the
world stage. Laws governing child labor were enacted and in general the population became healthier
and enjoyed a longer life span.
We have also looked at whether or not industrialization was generally beneficial or detrimental to the

Privacy Vs. Safety Law Enforcement
Privacy vs. Safety in Law Enforcement
Abstract the power of authority ranges all the way back to ancient Egypt. However, throughout history
our laws and policies have changed based off of different circumstances through evolution. Having
control over another individual requires the authority to have good morals as well as be a law abiding
citizen. Unfortunately, the forces that are responsible for providing safety sometimes come across
difficult situations and improvise in order to maintain order in law. Nonetheless the true dilemma lies
when too much force is taken to detain those that are not cooperating. There is a clear line between the
regulated steps in order to detain an individual and police brutality, but when facing adversity in an
arrest, is arresting the suspect really worth the cost of a life? Therefore, with that in mind how
ethically correct is the future decision to add new body cameras on patrol officers?
I. INTRODUCTION
In the process of becoming a police officer individuals are required to heartedly remember the law

attributes which are public trust and community. Public trust is a charge of duty imposed in faith

The last distinguishing characteristic while dining at each restaurant is the atmosphere. The
atmosphere at Pappadeux is as if you are attending a social function, while the atmosphere at Red
Lobster brings back memories of being at a restaurant on St. Simons Island. At Pappadeux, the table
all have white table cloths and there are decorative features along the outside and interior of the
building. While you dine there will be soft, relaxing, music that is being played throughout the
restaurant. The dining experience offers the atmosphere of seclusion although you are surrounding by
other diners. This provides for a feeling of elegance. The atmosphere at Red Lobster conveys an
entirely different ambience, the lobby contains a tank that holds the lobster that will be served to you,
and the children that are visiting the restaurant are all excited over watching the lobster fight causing a
ruckus of noise, which is understandable because it goes with the noise level at the restaurant. Very
few decorations are on the walls and there are minimal decorative items throughout the restaurant. The
seating is different at each restaurant also, at Pappadeux the wait staffs try and sit families in the same

Sexism in Film Essay
In society, women are often perceived as the weaker sex, both physically and mentally. In modern
times women have leveled the playing field between men and women, and feminism is a highly
discussed topic, but for years, women faced discrimination and prejudice both in life and in the
workplace, due to their sex. This way of thinking flooded into the world of film. In their works, the
authors of each of the various sources address the limitations and liberations of women both on and
off the screen in nineteenth century Film and Cinema. Not every source is completely filled with
information related to the research topic, but they do cover and analyze many of the same points from

It was not until the mid 1910 s did the film industry shift towards a model that prized business
legitimacy. This shift ultimately marginalized the woman filmmaker (Mahar 133).
The presentation of women on screen is another highlighted issue in many of the gathered sources.
Because men were ultimately in control of what went on the screen much of what the audience
perceived were women from the male imagination or fantasy. Bernard Beck elaborates in his article
Where the Boys Are: The Contender and other Movies about Women in a Man s World that, ...women
have been used to dress up a male story or motivate a male character (Beck 15). Women were often
insignificant and trivial characters. Although, Kathe Davis disagrees to a point. In her article, Davis
offers a dissonant opinion to the fore mentioned insignificance of the female character. She instead
describes many female characters as predators, and analyzes the roles of lead women in three
prominent films of the nineteenth century. In each film, she finds parallels and similarities of cases of
female emasculation and instances where women are turned into objects of male desire (Davis 47 48).
Davis does not perceive female characters as being insignificant, just stripped of their power and
misrepresented. She discusses how females of power are often portrayed as crazy

Arabian Nights Characters Analysis
The frame story of The Arabian Nights is set up with the kings encounters with their wives and the
demon s woman. Linked by the emphasis on promiscuity as a shared characteristic of all the women
concerned, and structurally by the repetition of the act of betrayal and the humiliation of men, the
message is clear: woman s sexuality and promiscuity can not be controlled.
Opening with the story of King Shahrayar and Shahrazad and their wives, we are first introduced to
the themes of betrayal and the promiscuity of women. Here are two kings living in different cities, far
from each other, experience similar circumstances. Their women, having betrayed them, make love to
their slaves once King Shahrayar and Shahrazad are gone. This is the first sign of the king s changing
their perspective on women and both acting rashly on their own feelings.
How will it be and what will happen behind my back when I go to visit my brother in India? No.
Women are not to be trusted. He got exceedingly angry, adding, By God,I am king and sovereign in
Samarkand, yet my wife has betrayed me and has inflicted this on me. As his anger boiled, he drew his
sword and struck both his wife and cook. Then he dragged them by the heels and threw them from the
top of the palace to the trench below. (pg 6)

murdering his wife and cook that these action, although seemingly justified, are rash and are based on

Abstract: Software testing is one of essential activity in software engineering, which determines the
software quality and reliability. For effective software testing valid and suitable test data generation is
necessary. Now a day s valid test data generation for a software/program using heuristic algorithms is
major concern for research. Several heuristics algorithms have been studied and it is observed that
genetic algorithm is most suitable and efficient in automated test data generation. In this paper test
case data generation using genetic algorithms proposed. The genetic algorithm is applied to generate
valid test data for a mathematical problem.

Biotic Factors In Hawaii
Plants are found everywhere on earth, up high on the ridge and down low in caves and caverns. The
types of plants that live in these places depends on many factors. These factors are separated into two
different categories, the biotic factors and the abiotic factors. Some of the biotic factors include,
predation, competition, and habitat destruction. Plants with limited competition and large amounts of
resources will be in a higher abundance than plants with limited resources and higher competition
rates will be confined to areas and either out competed or will be the dominant species. Certain plants

the ridge seems dry and grassy and it is expected as a dry leeward side ridge. This ridge is also known
for its brush fires during the hot seasons, the most recent being the fire in 2007. The fire left 50 acre of
the ridge scorched and burned to the ground (Siopack 2007). But, now in 2016 there has been an
increasing amount of rain and the ridge has since begun to heal since the fire. The beginning of the

brownish color. The vegetation isn t completely covering the soil; it is mostly clumped together. As
you continue to move up the trail the vegetation starts to get a little greener and thicker. The M.
maximus gets thicker, greener, and more dominant. The soil is still rocky and dry, but there are a few
different species such as the air plants and small shrubs. More of a change is seen further up the ridge

Working Memory and Its Benefits Essay
What makes our everyday life very simple? What helps us to know what is happening now, what we
are thinking now and what we are doing now? We are aware of the present moment or any changes in
this moment, and this ability helps us in functioning effectively to face immediate environmental
changes in our everyday life. This ability is called the Working Memory. The term working memory
was coined by Miller, Galanter, and Pribram in 1960 (Baddeley, 2003). It refers to the temporary
storage in the brain for manipulation of necessary information to execute cognitive tasks. According to

higher levels of cognitive tasks. According to a study by Muchnik, Efrati, Nemeth, Malin and
Hildesheimer (1991) found that blind participants outperformed sighted participants in auditory tasks.
Similar results were noted by Alary, Duquette, Goldstein, Elaine, Voss, Buissonniere Ariza and Lepore
(2009) for tactile tasks. Other researchers also found similar results for olfactory perceptual
discrimination (Cuevas, Plaza, Rombaux, Volder Renier, 2009), auditory localization (Lessard, Pare,

Criticism Of White Collar Crime
White Collar Crime:
White collar crimes often consist of financial, non violent criminal acts committed by someone who
uses their social status or position within their occupation for financial gain. These crimes are usually
done by professionals such as bankers, lawyers, office workers, business managers, executives and/or
accountants. These professionals committing these white collar crimes want to attain financial income
and ensure they get away with it. Often, they target people who are gullible, with low or no education,
elderly or simply take advantage of someone s trust. The offender usually starts small then makes it a
habit due to the oversight of the crime being committed. Although these crimes tend to not be
nonviolent they violate the person s involved trust which can cause psychological damages to the
victim.
Criticism:
The term white collar crime is used as a non legal term which usually refers to a type of crime act but
it doesn t necessary specify the actual name of the crime being committed. This term is usually used in
a very broad aspect, when in reality it can range from many different criminal activities. It fails to
make the distinction in the crime and grouping it all into one category and often is sentenced as such.
Another criticism, is that it usually does not specify the offender s socioeconomic class, it is often
assumed that the person committing the white collar crime is of upper social class. The issue here for
me is that, people who are not

Louis, Brad Pitt, seeking out an eager journalist to write his story. Louis s story begins with his
transition from human to vampire; the one who turns him is a vampire named Lestat, Tom Cruise.
They start their undead life together as a companionship. They experience many endeavours, girls, and
cities. In one town ridden with the black plague, Louis finds a young girl, Kirsten Dunst. She is
grieving for her lost mother and Louis decides to take care of her. Lestat then makes the decision to
transform her into a vampire and have his own little family. Many conflicts arise between Louis,
Lestat, and their new daughter Claudia.Though in the end, a new beginning starts.

but in the cases of failures of such methods the orthopedic problems are then treated through surgical
methods. There are many types of treatments that a surgeon performs on its patients according to their
problem, but there are some procedures that are noted as the most common. Here are 4 most common
orthopedic surgeries:

Toxic Masculinity
Few would argue against the notion that society has unrealistic and unfair expectations of women.
However, little time seems to be spent talking about harmful societal expectations of men, specifically
those associated with toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity is when men feel the need to prove their
masculinity by upholding traditional masculine values and behaviors in a way that is detrimental to
themselves and others. These behaviors traditionally associated with men include a need to prove one
s strength over others, blocking out emotional attachments, asserting dominance over others, and
denying traditionally feminine behavior, such as crying and showing emotional weakness (Hess).
Michael Omi s article In Living Color: Race and American Culture describes how the media has had a
large role in perpetuating racial stereotypes, but all his arguments can very well be related to gender
stereotype. Movies that glorifies toxic masculinity will inevitably legitimize its behaviors to the
public. Therefore, media that critiques stereotypes is important to shifting audience opinions. Despite
being a comedy film about a team of superheroes fighting aliens threatening the universe, the 2017
Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 tackles this subject of toxic masculinity through
essentially all of its male characters. In particular, the movie s protagonist, Peter, is the focal point of
this commentary. Peter s mother died when he was young and his father was absent his entire

The Gap of Generations
Logan Rose Davis English 1302 11618 July/5/2012 The Gap of Generations Morals and goals change
throughout generations as they grow up and go through different events. Lorraine Hansberry wrote A
Raisin in the Sun and in the play a man name Walter and his Mama fight throughout the story of how
they should think about what is most important to the two people. Mama grew up in the early 1900s
and how she was treated and what she had back then helped mold her in to the things she finds most
important. Walter grew up where he has more chances to do stuff that his mother could never even
think of. Mama and Walter have totally different out look at life between money and family. Mama s
values are pretty basic she just wants to keep the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Domina impassive how Mama Morals by saying The audience will recall that Mama cares for all
living things, even those that do not seem to thrive (Dominica 3) just shows that Mama is family
number one. Walter and Beneatha have a totally different mindset then Mama because of the way they
grew up. The two children grew up in a different era then Mama they both were involved in racial
eras, but in Walters and Beneathas era is more open time. The success and morels are bigger of the
two children Walters morals is all about money rather than family because he thinks that money will
make him into the leader of the family, and be able to get them anything they want. Beneatha is just
like her brother that the basic is just not enough even her friend Asagai gave her a name that means
bread is not enough (Hansberry, Raisin 1604) he is just saying that the basic stuff is just not enough
for her she needs more. Success in Walters s eyes is all about money, and it s not all about him being
greedy it s just all about wanting to have more for the family. At the beginning of the play Walters s
son wanted fifty cents for school but when Travis asked his mom she said no then he asked Walter and
he gave him the fifty cents like it was nothing. Walter just wanted his son to look up at him and see
that he is a big successful man. Hansberry wrote When we first meet him, he does not wish to alter it;
merely to change his position in it (Hansberry, Willie

The aim of NFIP is to reduce the losses regarding flood damage through community flood plain
management which also provides protection for property owners regarding flood insurance.According
to the agreement between local communities and Federal Government will provide management of
flood insurance within the community for financial protection against flood losses if a community will
make a floodplain management to reduce future flood risks to new construction in Special Flood
Hazards Areas.
Initially,it involves only constructing flood control works such as dams, seawalls and providing
disaster relief to flood victims only. High risk and seasonal nature are the reasons for which insurance
companies were not able to provide flood insurance coverage.So,U.S congress created the NFIP in
order to reduce flood losses and increase cost of disaster relief to the taxpayers.
NFIP was established on august 1, 1968. It was further modified by the National Flood Insurance
Reform Act (NFIRA) of 1994 and the the Flood Insurance Reform Act (FIRA) of 2004.NFIP is
administered by a component of U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which is called
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).With the help of NFIP,FEMA identifies flood

The Power Of The White House Essay
Webster s Dictionary defines power as the ability to do anything; ... capacity for producing an effect;
... a wielder of authority, strong influence, or rule. In my opinion, power is the ability to produce an
effect from people, places or things. Thunderstorms are strong mixtures of air and water that can cause
a powerful effect on weather. The White House is a place that stands as a symbol of what America as a
country represents; which can produce a powerful effect, either positive or negative, upon the
emotions of those who see it. And finally, there is an organization of people within a society who
wield their impact through the decisions they make, the government, that defines the influence of the
effect of power on those to whom it governs. The concept of power has come to be associated with the
terms wealth, authority and government. Much of what is studied in the field of political science is
defined by the parameters created to express the concept power and how well it is used to distribute
wealth and authority. It is important that the ideas that symbolize the characterization of power can be
defined within a set of parameters that are readily relatable because the basis of political science is the
study of the theory and practice of politics, which can be broadly defined as the determining of the
distribution of power and resources. John Emerich Edward Dalberg, Lord Acton, is often quoted for
his famous opinion on this subject: Power tends to corrupt and

Compare And Contrast The Achievements Of The American...
During the early modern era (1450 1750), many civilizations faced various achievements, but the
main achievement taught throughout the United States is of Christopher Columbus. Before this
achievement was made, there were Chinese explorers such as Zheng He and others. These Chinese
explorers sailed as far as Africa. There were also great empires such as the Chinese Empire, Ming
Empire, Qing Empire, Ottoman Empire, Mongol Empires, and more. The two patterns which held the
biggest impact on empires and cultures are expanding, and challenges to the tradition. There was not
only an expansion in the size of empires, but also religion, and movement of people. The Ottoman
Empire expanded its rule over time through the religious belief of Islam

Analysis Of Maria De Garcia De Marquez
Finding out a family member has a disease and that it s a mental one, is devastating. Mental problems
don t just destroy the individual, but the entire family. Until recently, we came across something
known as delusions of persecution. We immediately started seeking for answers only to find out my
great aunt, Maria de Jesus Carbajal de Marquez, has been suffering from delusions of persecution for
the past three years. Never in a million years did we think that one of our family members would
suffer from this mental disease.
Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions of
persecution. An example of delusions of persecution would be that the government is spying on an
individual (e.g. tapping their phone lines) because they were wrongfully identified as a terrorist (
Specific Themes of Delusions ). There are four general types of delusions: bizarre delusions, non
bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions. Moreover, there are specific
types of themes of delusions. These themes range from: control (believing another person is able to
control your brain) to grandeur (believing that you are God) to mind reading (believing others can
read your mind) ( Specific Themes of Delusion ). For example, delusions of persecution is a theme
that has eight different types of sub themes: attacked, cheated, conspired against, followed,
harassment, obstructed, poisoned, and spied upon, ( Specific Themes

  • 2. Point Of View Of The Penelopiad A story could be told numerous ways depending on whose point of view you look at. It s like if there was a car accident in an intersection. There would be multiple perspectives as to what happened. There would be the people involved points of view, the people at the other spots of the intersection, and any other possible witnesses who were for example, walking to their car in the parking lot near by. Greek myths are like car accidents. The events happen, the stories are told and repeated for generations and eventually written down, but they can get mis translated in the process depending on whose side you look at. In The Penelopiad, we see Penelope s perspective of her life and what she thought of Odysseus while he was gone. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Getty Museum Vs. A Walk At Dusk Connected in Origin, but Different in Approach Art is not only about what you see, it s about what you feel when you look at it. Walking through a museum, it s like walking through emotions. There are so many different feelings and emotions you get depending on the work of art you re experiencing. Both works of arts I got to experience at the Getty museum were very interesting and unique. The first work of art was A Walk at Dusk (1830 1835) by German artist Caspar David Friedrich. Its medium was oil on canvas with dimensions of 33.3 x 43.7 cm. The second work of art was Mornington Crescent with the Statue of Sickert s Father in law, 1966 by German artist Frank Auerbach. Its medium was also oil but on a Masonite attached to auxiliary wooden framework with dimensions of 122 x 152.5 cm. At a first look both paintings seem extremely different but when you look closer, deep in their core they are quite similar. Both paintings depict a really meaningful place, but in A Walk at Dusk the place is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Walk at Dusk is a very small painting so you experience it more at a personal level. One must be really close to it to appreciate it s detail. It s a more inviting painting, which makes sense since it s more of a spiritual connection the viewers will have with it. On the opposite the Mornington Crescent is a bigger painting and it s also intimidating when looking at it. You don t really want to or have to get close to it. The vibrant and intense colors make it more uncomfortable for the viewer. This might be done so that the viewers can physically feel what s happening in the scene, it s not really a place one wants to be at. The emotions these paintings evoke were very similar. In both painting s you see themes of darkness and pain. Both portrayed very melancholic events of suffering and sorrow yet in both you get this small but significant sense of hope that it s the take away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparison of Mid-Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My... Comparison of Mid Term Break, The Field Mouse, and On My First Sonne The above poems are written by 3 different people and on reading them they seem to be about very different things. But at heart, they are about death and the pain that appears afterwards. Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break is a memory of his four year old brother s death. Gillian Clarke s The Field Mouse is about death in a political conflict compared to a death in nature. Finally On My First Sonne by Ben Johnson is about the death of his son and the religious view of the situation. Both Heaney and Johnson s poems are about the death of a close loved one and how it is dealt with emotionally and in reality. On looking at the title of Heaney s poem, you almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also shows that his son was possibly the only bright point in his life and that he feels since he has been taken away, he has almost no reason to live. After this event he also feels that you shouldn t get to attached to something as he says As what he loves may never like too much. This obviously means that whatever you love, don t get attached to it, as you will end up losing it. Clarke, on the other hand, has a more general observation to death and tells it from the sort of view most people might have on war or conflict. Like Heaney s Mid Term Break, when you see the title of Clark s poem you assume that it will be a happy poem about a cute and cuddly mouse. This theory is almost exactly the opposite of what the poem is actually about. You can see that the poem is about the death and destruction in Bosnia War and compares it to the death and destruction that occurs while harvesting. This poem again is a memory like Mid Term Break, and at the end it shows her feeling and attitude towards war and violence. You can tell that her feelings are negative since she writes the line my neighbour turned stranger . This I think means that people you once were good friends with would now become your enemy. So unlike the other 2 poems where it tells that death is a natural occurrence, this poem tells that a person s main enemy is another person that could possibly be your best friend. In Johnson s poem you can tell he is a very religious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Economic Contribution of Migrant Workers in Bangladesh Introduction Bangladesh is located in South Asia. It is the seventh most populous country in the world and is mostly densely inhabited. The poverty level, however, has fallen by more than 20%, helped by its prominent agricultural sector. The Bangladeshi economy is helped by its big garment sector, which contributes more than two thirds of the country s trade. The major challenge to prosperous growth is the vulnerability of the land to cyclones and floods. However, even with such challenges, Bangladesh has experienced a growth rate of 5% since 1990. This growth has been helped by remittances from expatriates as well. Since 1975, there has been a two fold increase in the per capita GDP. During the 2008 global economic recession, ... President Bill Clinton obtained many of his votes due to how he handled the shutdown and the Republican house. Potentially, if Clinton didn t have to manage the shutdown then he may have not been reelected. Maybe America would have been better off with a new president, but we cannot change that past. What is done is done and we have to live with our choices that we have made. When people think of the government shutdown many think of quite simply the downfalls. This is most logically because the negatives of a government shutdown over power the positives. Just like most things though, there were some plus sides to the shutdown. Gingrich stated that the shutdown led to a balanced budget deal, and without the shutdown it may have never been arrived at (E. Green) Neither side ever wanted the issue to become so out of hand that it was forced to shut down, but that is what it led to. The shutdown was tough for both sides. Most Americans believe that the shutdown was the Republicans fault, (National Journal) but it was actually fault on both sides. Both sides were too bullheaded to realize the consequences that could arise and solve their problems without a fight. There is no perfect way to solve this problem. • 9. Faustian Bargain Analysis A Faustian Bargain is a complicated idea which translates in popular terms to selling one s soul to the devil. This definition consists of four layers. The first layer consists of two different aspects. The first aspect is doing something evil such as making a deal with the devil in order for personal gain. The second aspect is in pursuit of a lofty ideal. In pursuing the lofty ideal; the ideal is corrupted because of the methods to achieve it. The second layer is an unwillingness or inability to see things as they really are, to see evil as evil. The third layer is the felling of guilt after making a deal with the devil. The final layer is a third party attempting to convince the person from completing a Faustian Bargain. Within this layer one must seek whether they are a victim of external or internal influence. Several common elements of a Faustian Bargain emerge when we compare Button Button and Dr. Faustus. Those components include motivations of lofty ideals or self interest, the inability to see things as they really are, remorse, and the persuasion of an external or internal influence. Though Norma and Faustus both make a bargain with the devil, their motivations differ. Norma s motivations are based on self interest. Barnet states that the common definition of a Faustian Bargain is that some people are so eager to gain immediate power that they engage in actions that they know are evil (Barnet, vii). Access control is seen as the fundamental mechanism put in place to help make information security successful. Access control feature, in a particular system, will control how users can communicate, access and modify system resources and programs. Access control was described in this chapter as a very useful tool for the computer information security because it helps with ensuring that unauthorized person or program have no access to what they are not supposed to. Access control is regarded as the first line of defense to control, protect and monitor organization s resource s availability, confidentiality and integrity. Furthermore, this chapter illustrates how users can be granted access to network resources. It explained that for a user to be allowed access to a network he must satisfy the condition of identification and authentication. The identification part could be something of user ID, name or account number. The identification key is not enough to grant access, but it s simply a way of introducing yourself by saying who you are. Then, at that point the system will request for you to authenticate yourself (confirm who you said you are) by requesting for an authentication key. The authentication key could be password, passphrase, personal identification number (PIN), or a token. The amount of education a person has should not define who they are as a person, or have restriction on the kind of work they can or cannot do. The book takes place in a time period were educations defines who you are as a person. Francis of Assisi was able to create an order for his followers, he was also able to come up with a set of Franciscan values. These values are important to the way that he believed led the best life. Five of the most important Franciscan values to me are service, peace and reconciliation, creation, transformation, and inclusion. Service is not only giving, but it is also about receiving. When volunteering your service you are helping other, and you are learning more about yourself at the same time. St Francis of Assisi lived in poverty so he could love and care for everyone. St. Francis was always helping out people out of the kindness of his heart; he never expected any service or money in return. Peace and reconciliation is also another important value that Francis believed in. Peace and reconciliation means that if I hurt someone I should ask for forgiveness, but if someone hurts me I should be able to forgive them. St Francis of Assisi lived by these words knowing that he wanted to live in peace with all and to be reconciled to all. Next, Francis believed in and loved all things created. Francis believed that creation is a reflection of God s goodness and beauty, which led him to believe all humans are members of the same family. Understanding creation allows for us to understand each other and all of creation better. The value of transformation is the way of growing, creating or destroying. • 15. Romeo Juliet Comparison Romeo and Juliet Often people say that William Shakespeare was and still is a legend. They are correct. It is amazing how Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet written centuries ago can be better than any movie productions of Romeo and Juliet, which had much better technology to work with. Although the films appeared more appealing, they left out some major parts. The play had better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better presentation. This speech will prove why William Shakespeare s original play should be taught to students rather than any film versions. One major difference between the play and the movie occurs in the mood. An example of this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play, Romeo and Juliet act very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an equal (Act 2, Scene 6) which is a very intelligent thing to say. Whereas, in the movie they kiss and giggle the entire time. This leads the viewer to believe that film versions wanted the two to look like fools, that they could not do anything the way it is normally done because they are children in search of quick love. This is bad because it is not very realistic. In real life, young adults would take the matter seriously because they know it is a major step in life. Because the play is not entirely trying to make the two look bad, it is the better production. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote stated by Elie Wiesel from his speech, The Perils of Indifference , refers to the day Elie Wiesel got liberated from the Holocaust when he was young. The Holocaust was just one of the many horrific tragedies that occurred during that century. In hopes of changing the future for the better, Wiesel decides to deliver a speech about helping the victims of injustice. He gives this speech intended for the President, Mrs. Clinton, members of Congress, Ambassador Holbrooke, Excellencies, and friends hoping that they will make positive changes for the future. By using rhetorical strategies such as anaphora, rhetorical questions, and ethos, Wiesel tries to help the victims of injustice and prevent future tragedies from happening. Throughout Wiesel s speech, he used a copious amount of anaphora. Wiesel used this technique to help get his point across to the audience. He explains how easy it is to use indifference; consequently, people are taking opportunities from others. Wiesel explains, our work, our dreams, our hopes (Wiesel 1 2), to show the audience what indifference is effecting in their lives. By repeating the word our before each subject that is being affected, he is showing the audience that the victims being affected have their own opportunity for work, dreams, and hopes. • 22. Social Norms Of Social Identity Social identities have a lot of significance on people s lives today. People have adopted these norms of behaviors, the values and beliefs which come along with social identities. Various groups within the society have different expectations and standards of behavior which are now seen as a completely natural thing rather than just beliefs. There are different norms of social identities which include the race/ethnicity, religion, class, gender and sexuality. This paper will focus more on the class and gender social identities. In my culture, the main two social identities which are considered the most are gender and class. They highly contribute on how different categories of people are perceived in the society and this determines the how people relate in the society. Looking at gender, people believe that the difference in gender is connected to different responsibilities. The way ladies are treated is different from the way men are treated in the society. This is according to what people strongly believe about gender difference and as a result, different people are valued differently in different situations. Not only that, there are also different expectations from each gender. Looking at the responsibilities aspect, there are jobs which are considered to be suitable for men while others are seen to be suitable for women. This is not because the women cannot do the jobs which are perceived to be suitable for men, bit it is simply because these jobs are perceived to be manly. • 23. Justice in The Republic by Plato Essay Justice in The Republic by Plato In Plato s The Republic, justice is depicted as a major part in a perfect society. Justice is said to breed a good society, whereas injustice will breed a bad one. Plato defines justice in dialogue as keeping what is properly one s own and doing one s own job. (Pg. 146) Under the rules set for this perfect society, people are to practice the one profession at which they perform best. This profession also corresponds to a certain social class. Under no circumstances can one change this profession. Along with a set occupation, Plato has also determined that the perfect community would regulate what children (and the community) are taught, and to what the children will be exposed. In Plato s ... Thus leading him or her to commit an injustice of the same kind, or simply increasing the chance that a person will commit a similar act. However, there is a huge hypocrisy (or disadvantage) within this theory. With Plato s definition of justice, a person should keep what is his or her own. Some would say that person s history is also their own. People have a right to know their history, and the truths about their community. Plato wants to take away passages in stories, lines within songs, and make all characters in plays perfect. This, in itself, is an injustice to a community. The stories, folklores, and fables of a community are meant to teach. In American society, children learn not to tell lies from the Boy Who Cried Wolf. The character in the story was not perfect and committed a bad act; however, children learn from his mistake. In Plato s perfect society, he takes away what the community rightfully owns. When adopting Plato s suggested way of life, one must be prepared to sacrifice his or her past (neglecting his definition of justice). This crucial injustice is needed for the good of Plato s suggested community. Similarly, in the book Ishmael, the author tells a story about post war Germany. • 25. Privacy Vs. Safety Law Enforcement Privacy vs. Safety in Law Enforcement Abstract the power of authority ranges all the way back to ancient Egypt. However, throughout history our laws and policies have changed based off of different circumstances through evolution. Having control over another individual requires the authority to have good morals as well as be a law abiding citizen. Unfortunately, the forces that are responsible for providing safety sometimes come across difficult situations and improvise in order to maintain order in law. Nonetheless the true dilemma lies when too much force is taken to detain those that are not cooperating. There is a clear line between the regulated steps in order to detain an individual and police brutality, but when facing adversity in an arrest, is arresting the suspect really worth the cost of a life? Therefore, with that in mind how ethically correct is the future decision to add new body cameras on patrol officers? I. These crimes are usually done by professionals such as bankers, lawyers, office workers, business managers, executives and/or accountants. These professionals committing these white collar crimes want to attain financial income and ensure they get away with it. Often, they target people who are gullible, with low or no education, elderly or simply take advantage of someone s trust. However, little time seems to be spent talking about harmful societal expectations of men, specifically those associated with toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity is when men feel the need to prove their masculinity by upholding traditional masculine values and behaviors in a way that is detrimental to themselves and others. These behaviors traditionally associated with men include a need to prove one s strength over others, blocking out emotional attachments, asserting dominance over others, and denying traditionally feminine behavior, such as crying and showing emotional weakness (Hess). Michael Omi s article In Living Color: Race and American Culture describes how the media has had a large role in perpetuating racial stereotypes, but all his arguments can very well be related to gender stereotype. Movies that glorifies toxic masculinity will inevitably legitimize its behaviors to the public. Therefore, media that critiques stereotypes is important to shifting audience opinions. Despite being a comedy film about a team of superheroes fighting aliens threatening the universe, the 2017 Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 tackles this subject of toxic masculinity through essentially all of its male characters. In particular, the movie s protagonist, Peter, is the focal point of this commentary. Peter s mother died when he was young and his father was absent his entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Power Of The White House Essay Webster s Dictionary defines power as the ability to do anything; ... capacity for producing an effect; ... a wielder of authority, strong influence, or rule. In my opinion, power is the ability to produce an effect from people, places or things. Thunderstorms are strong mixtures of air and water that can cause a powerful effect on weather. The White House is a place that stands as a symbol of what America as a country represents; which can produce a powerful effect, either positive or negative, upon the emotions of those who see it. And finally, there is an organization of people within a society who wield their impact through the decisions they make, the government, that defines the influence of the effect of power on those to whom it governs. The concept of power has come to be associated with the terms wealth, authority and government. Much of what is studied in the field of political science is defined by the parameters created to express the concept power and how well it is used to distribute wealth and authority. It is important that the ideas that symbolize the characterization of power can be defined within a set of parameters that are readily relatable because the basis of political science is the study of the theory and practice of politics, which can be broadly defined as the determining of the distribution of power and resources. Mental problems don t just destroy the individual, but the entire family. Until recently, we came across something known as delusions of persecution. We immediately started seeking for answers only to find out my great aunt, Maria de Jesus Carbajal de Marquez, has been suffering from delusions of persecution for the past three years. Never in a million years did we think that one of our family members would suffer from this mental disease. Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions of persecution. An example of delusions of persecution would be that the government is spying on an individual (e.g. tapping their phone lines) because they were wrongfully identified as a terrorist ( Specific Themes of Delusions ). There are four general types of delusions: bizarre delusions, non bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions. Moreover, there are specific types of themes of delusions. These themes range from: control (believing another person is able to control your brain) to grandeur (believing that you are God) to mind reading (believing others can read your mind) ( Specific Themes of Delusion ). For example, delusions of persecution is a theme that has eight different types of sub themes: attacked, cheated, conspired against, followed, harassment, obstructed, poisoned, and spied upon, ( Specific Themes ...
