Designing A Computer Model Of A Human Body
If you are new to 3D, you may wonder what exactly the term rendering means. Rendering is the
process of developing a life like image or animation from any 2D or 3D model with the help of
computer programs. The model generated holds three dimensional qualities such as shadows, texture,
lighting and viewpoint. Rendering can take a few minutes or even up to days for a single image per
frame.
In a 3D graphics context, rendering is a leading interactive media process and the last stage in the
pipeline. Rendering has been gradually improving in terms of the speed as computer has become more
rapid and the breakthrough from programmers. Rendering has been dated all the way back in the
1960s, and American computer graphics director William Fetter was the first to create a computer
model of a human body.
William Fetter administers the progress development of a computer program as he was attempting to
come up with a new process which allowed him to widen the layout efficiency inside Boeing s
airplane cockpits. Fetter defines the process by calling it computer graphics . It was one of Fetter s
partner, Ivan Sutherland who transformed things in motion in 1963. The graphical communication
system name Sketchpad enabled one to interactively create an image on the computer display for the
first time. This granted Fetter the ability to create the first ever three dimensional image of the human
body through computer graphics. It was called the First Man or also known as Boeing Man .

Human Condition In Human Life
There are so many depths to a human s personality traits, characteristics, and identity. These depths
create an individualized pathway for the life the human lives. This could mean that their attitude
shapes their life or their personality takes full swing and creates a beautiful minded person. Either
way, a humans depths of individuality creates a person s human condition. The human condition
derives from the key events, situations, and characteristics that occur in a human s life. This creates
the way they feel about things and the hope human s have regardless. The human condition also gives
humans the opportunity to create their future upon things that they like to do and could proceed to do
with their lives. Students have many tasks thrown at them during the span of their high school college
careers. This creates the aspiration, growth, and emotionality that correlates with the human
condition. The human condition is the aspiration, growth, and emotionality of a human being.
Students in high school and college are given many ultimatums during their time as a student. Should
I attend this university because it has the better dorms and the higher tuition? Or should I attend the
school where I receive the most scholarships? All of these questions that are difficult for some to
answer. human condition creates the human aspiration for something they know that they can achieve.

Chronic Pain Case Study Essay
Chronic pain is often concurrent with depression and many agents used for the treatment of depression
are CYP2D6 inhibitors which interfere with the metabolism and pharmacological action of tramadol, a
common agent used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain. The case reported is proposes caution
should be taken in initiating or titrating tramadol in patients currently taking medications with strong
CYP2D6 inhibition properties, especially in combination with other serotonergic agents. A 70 year old
female presented with signs and symptoms of mild serotonin toxicity resulting from an increased
tramadol dose in concurrence with bupropion and sertraline therapy. The offending agents, tramadol
and bupropion, were discontinued eliminating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will decrease the potential for serotonin toxicity in this patient population. Medication
reconciliation should be extensively performed on patients with comorbid depression and chronic pain
to potentially identify high risk patients taking tramadol with bupropion or other strong CYP2D6
inhibitors. Specific attention should be directed to how the patient is actually taking each medication,
along with the subjective level of pain relief the patient is experiencing. This will help with
identification of potential drug interactions and prompt more specific attention to any signs and
symptoms of serotonin toxicity. Tramadol is a commonly prescribed partial μ opioid receptor agonist
analgesic available as a racemic mixture of positive and negative enantiomers. It is used frequently in
patients with chronic pain, whom often times have an underlying depression with an estimated
prevalence of 35%. With the DEA rescheduling all hydrocodone combination products to schedule II
in the Fall of 2014, use of tramadol and other less restricted analgesics may have

The Importance of Censoring in The Catcher in the Rye by...
J.D. Salinger was an American author well known for his best seller The Catcher in the Rye, a
considerably influential novel that portrayed the feelings of alienation that were experienced by
adolescents in North America after World War II ( J.D. Salinger Biography ). Salinger s work
appeared in many magazines, including a series of short stories which inspired many new authors (
J.D. Salinger Biography ). His inspiration for Pencey Prep boarding school in The Catcher in the Rye
stemmed from his own difficult education at a military school (Feeney). Salinger went through an
emotional series of events after being drafted into the army during World War II, and it is evident that
his story is very reflective of his own negative views of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Its profanity has been declared in numerous states, as parents claim to be fearful that their children
will be scarred by the events and foul language in the novel (Reiff). This fear has been elevated so
much, in fact, that in the 1960s there were teachers from Kentucky, Okla, Tulsa, and Louisville that
almost lost their jobs for assigning the novel to their classes. As a result of this, the book was
prohibited in many school libraries (Dutra). Many people in North America also find the references to
sexual acts and prostitution to be completely disturbing, and consider them to be pornographic and
encouraging of premarital sex, homosexuality and perversion (Reiff). This concern was much more
prominent in the years leading up to the 1970s, when most of society was not open to this type of
literature. Additionally, rebellion and deception are consistently displayed in Holden s thoughts and
actions, and his obsession with human intimacy may send the message to young people that sexual
intercouse is an appropriate thing for a person to discuss and think about regularly. When accounting
for all of this, it is difficult to argue that the The Catcher in the Rye should not be censored. Despite
the high amounts of foul language, deception, and vulgarity that many justify as reason enough to ban
the novel, many critics argue that the story gives young readers that

Advances in IT Topics
Advances in IT Topics
In recent years, Information Technology has had advances in big data storage and health information
systems. Big data companies are developing products for storage capacity and support services
growth, with many leveraging local file based storage with object based cloud storage (Coughlin,
2012). And, initiatives in advances for personalized medicine include technologies that link
informatics with genotype and phenotype data to produce custom built solutions to illness (Welch,
2009). Improvements brought by big data include creating more transparency among stakeholders by
making big data more accessible (Manyika, 2011). Having access to and being able to manipulate data
sets enables a different way of decision making to bring more science into management. Companies
can segment and analyze data in near real time. The analysis improves decision making, minimizes
risks, and uncover more insights to enable new innovation. According to (Manyika, 2011), there was
questions as to how corporate marketing functions would need to evolve and how business processes
could change. There was the question of how companies would leverage assets, particularly data
assets, to create more value. There was also a question of how big data might interrupt business
models. Cloud computing moves applications and databases to warehouses and poses new security
challenges, which have not been well understood and many research problems are not yet identified
(Wang, 2009).

Romantic Comedy Genre Analysis
Genre in film began as a sort of commercial tool which showed audiences recognizable film content in
order to attract customers (Campbell and Swenson). As the film industry grew, this content began to
be more specialized, allowing the audience to know exactly what to expect from the film they were
seeing. For example, films within the same genre share the same myths, iconography, and
conventions. This means they have similarities in aspects such as plot, characters, themes, moods,
ways of doing things particular to that genre, and repeated visual and oral elements such as images
and sounds. Often genre films are influenced by the social culture of the time in which they are
produced, and the content in the film tend to propose a solution to the current problems within society.
These resolutions are often portrayed by a main protagonists who is presented with a conflict; the film
then concludes with the character reaching a solution to the problem that is not only logical, but moral
as well. Within the romantic comedy genre specifically, the storyline usually follows a couple rather
than a protagonist. The romantic comedy, or rom com, genre has often been ruled a purely escapist
and conservative genre, accused of unquestioningly presenting unrealistic romantic fantasies for
passive audiences (MacDowell). From its earliest days, romantic comedy films have mostly focused
on finding romance and the idea that love is the key to a fulfilled and delighted life. However, this

Queen Elizabeth I Research Paper
Early Life Queen Elizabeth I was born on the September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. She was
declared illegitimate through political plotting. She declared to the throne at the age of 25 and kept it
for 44 years. King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn gave birth to a girl. Anne Boleyn was his second wife.
Elizabeth was only three years old when her mother was beheaded by the orders of King Henry VIII,
on charges of adultery. Elizabeth grew up protestant on behalf of her mother. King Henry wanted a
male heir to take over therefore Mary, her older half sister, and Elizabeth were declared to be

She loved music and could play the lute. Elizabeth also enjoyed dancing and watching plays. The arts
flourished during Elizabeth s time with the creation of works by William Shakespeare and Christopher
Marlowe. Artists also honored Elizabeth by painting her portrait. These images reveal that she was an
early fashionista in many ways. She loved beautiful clothing and jewelry. Her garments were often
made with gold and silver. With the help of makeup, Elizabeth cultivated a dramatically pale look.
Unfortunately, her cosmetic concoction, called the spirits of Saturn, was made by mixing white lead
and vinegar, which may have impacted her health. Later Years Elizabeth s last years of her reign were
troubled times. The country suffered from unemployment and failed crops. Elizabeth was faced with
many challenges. She had sent Robert Devereaux, the Earl of Essex to Ireland to stop the revolt
controlled by Hugh O Neill. Instead Essex returned to England and sought to start his own rebellion.
He was put to death for disloyalty in 1601. In spite of her declining power, Elizabeth still displayed
her dedication to her people. Death and

The House On Mango Street Analysis
Living in the 1960 s was a much different experience apart from living in today s world. People had to
face problems that seemed common to them but rather irrelevant to us. They faced problems like
discrimination, and sexism, which could be argued still prominent, but not as common as back then.
The characters from the book The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, and The Help by
Kathryn Stockett lived in this time and therefore faced these problems which setup the main plots and
themes in these two books. The characters and the books themselves are very similar, and deal with
the main theme of oppression.
Esperanza from The House on Mango Street is faced with many different obstacles during the course
of her childhood, motivating her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Esperanza said, She looked out the window her whole life, the way so many women sit their sadness
on an elbow [...] Esperanza. I have inherited her name, but I don t want to inherit her place by the
window. (11) Esperanza looks up to her mother and her many good qualities, but she wants no part in
having a spot by the window her whole life. Esperanza wants to be independent, with a job, and a
dream house of her own, but since she is a girl, she is doubted by society. This is a prime example of
sexism in the story and it shows how people treated women unfairly back then and gave them less
potential than which they would have today. This gives the women in Esperanzas society less hope of
becoming what they dreamed of being, and giving them less drive to achieve their goals.
Another character, Sally, from The House on Mango Street is also faced with similar situations like
Esperanza s. Sally is faced with sexism being set to strict, unrightful rules like not being able to talk
on the phone. Sally decided to get married and move in with her husband at a young age because she
liked that he provided for her. Sally made the mistake with moving in with him at a young age and is a
victim of sexism and it set to very strict rules that she is obliged to because of her knowledge that the
women are supposed to follow the mens orders and stay at home and take care of their family. An
example of sexism is when Esperanza says, Except he won t let her talk on the telephone. (102)

Klebsiella Pneumoniae Lab Report
Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacilli bacterium 0.3 1.0um in diameter and
0.6 6.0 um in length. Cells are capsulated and arranged in pairs or in short chains. K. pneumoniae can
cause different types of healthcare associated infections that include pneumonia, blood, and wound
infections along with meningitis. K. pneumoniae is normally found in the intestines of human stool.
Infections are most common with people who require ventilators, intravenous catheters or patients
taking long courses of antibiotics. The primary portal of entry is through the respiratory tract to cause
pneumonia or through the blood to cause bacteremia. People with healthy immune systems usually do

Enterobacter liquefies gelatin very slowly and in addition E. aerogenes will test positive for motility.
To further differentiate K. pneumoniae from Enterobacter and narrow down the exact species of K.

Essay on Little Women
Little Women, Louisa May Alcott
Book Theme: In the arduous journey from childhood to adulthood, a young woman is faced with two
things that need great attention and balance the progress of her individual social standing, and the
welfare of her immediate family.
Main Conflict: The book does not really follow the traditional single plot line characteristic of many
stories (especially during the time it was written). Alcott illustrated the roads the four March girls
Amy, Beth, Jo, and Meg take in their lives as they become young women. The storyline includes many
mini conflicts, such as Jo s writing, or Beth s illness, or Laurie s inclination to love Jo despite Amy s
affections. Generally speaking, the one overlying conflict stands as ... Show more content on

How Louisa May Alcott emphasizes on certain aspect of each March girl that sets them apart from the
other three is quite intriguing. For the most part, this book seemed more directed at a feminine
audience. You d have thought I could figure that out from the title, but I chose the book because of its
reputation. Although it was slow and gradual (after all, the story followed the life of these little
women), getting through the book was like growing up with the March girls. I like that Jo was a fiery
tomboy, that Beth was shy and reserved, that Meg was all knowing and wise, and that Amy was naive
and proud. It was even more enjoyable to see them grow into adults that contradicted some of their
former ways. Jo for instance, exhibited great change, especially when she burned her old sensationalist
stories in Mr. Bhaer s fire. This symbolic event included a step away from Jo s old behavior and
towards the life of the woman she was meant to be.
I did a little research on the books themes to get some ideas on what Alcott was trying to convey in
Little Women. What I found was a little discouraging. Initially, Alcott s priority was to show how
young women (more specifically from that time period) had to face two premier choices. Many had to
choose between staying and caring for their immediate family, or to move on and pursue their life s
interests. Now although the four March girls moved on to better things,

The Conflicts Between Seeing Nature As A Medium Of Art
Imagine hiking and standing upon a mountain top and just basking in the beauty of the scenery
around. Some people consider nature as the purest form of natural expression. Some artists consider
nature as a medium of art. But what is a medium of art? Art is expressed to be man made, a form of
human expression, a tale of beauty or tragedy. The world is a beautiful place filled with unique
creatures, beautiful scenery and an overwhelming sense of power and importance. But a medium is
considered as materials used to help express the viewpoint of the artist. In this evaluation argument
one will see the conflicts between seeing nature as a contributor to art. where if it can be used as a
material that inspires the artist, can be used to express emotion, and help support the point of view of
the art work. One would think that nature would have nothing to do with art. But it seems that art can
be found centered upon this idea. Nature is used in many different forms either to build a giant
building or to just exists and to be admired. In many cases trees and other natural elements are used as
art supplies. One can view the use of nature being used as a medium of art. Using the materials as a
source of expressing the viewpoint of the artists.
Some disapprove of this viewpoint, some people suggest that art is to conceptual to be related or
influenced by nature. Some people also state that nature is based of evolution and science not on the
concepts of feelings

Treaty Implementation And Interpretation Of The Treaty Of...
In order to determine if the Crown failed to fulfill the obligations of Treaty 7, the following issues
must be considered: 1) Treaty Implementation and Interpretation: What are the obligations of Treaty

of the written obligations of the treaty regarding the creation of IR 147? b) Historical Context: Does

i) Substantive Breach: If the reserve was properly created in accordance with the text of the treaty
there may not be a breach in the Crown s obligations. To create a reserve in accordance with the
Indian Act, the Supreme Court of Canada set out the requirements in the Ross River Deana Council
decision. These requirements, as applied by Wewaykum Indian Band v. Canada, include an act by the
Crown to set apart Crown land for use of an Indian band combined with an intention to create a
reserve on the part of persons having authority to bind the Crown and practical steps by the Crown
and the Indian band to realize that intention. The Crown set apart land to create a reserve when the
Indian Agent appointed a surveyor to survey land according to the entitlements in Treaty 7. The
Redfoot Nation realized these intentions when they were vocal regarding their dissatisfaction on the
location of the land, however practical steps were also taken by the Crown when the Superintendent
General of Indian Affairs moved the Redfoot to the surveyed lands for their use as a reserve.
Therefore, it appears that the Crown fulfilled the requirements and, as a result, the reserve identified as
IR 147 was properly created, fulfilling the substantive duties of the fulfillment of Treaty 7 to establish
a reserve in southern Alberta. b) Historical Context It appears that the Crown and the

Seventh Circle In Dante s Inferno
Drew Anderson
ELA 12
Dante
In The Inferno by Dante Alighieri, Dante is led down through hell by the ancient poet Virgil. As he
descends through hell he progressively sees people who committed worse and worse crimes. Because
of this we are able to see into the mind of Dante; and therefore, understand his thoughts on the
volatility of the crimes committed. Personally I believe because of Dante being screwed in his own
life plus the many backward thoughts of the time; Dante is much too harsh on humanity and he sends
far too many people to hell.
Dante s first circle is called Limbo. Limbo is just on the cusp of hell. People in Dante s limbo are not
tortured and crying out they are just sighing because they lack hope of a better life. No tortured
wailing rose to greet us here but sounds of sighing rose from every side. (canto IV) Limbo holds all
people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The seventh circle is for those who were violent. This includes people where violent against
themselves because those violent against themselves denied their human form they are shown as trees
in The Inferno, Puzzled I broke off a thorn: and the great trunk of it cried out. (canto 13 pg. 120) The
eighth circle is for people who claimed to be prophets but weren t, people who stole, people who lie,
and people who seduced others. The final circle of hell is for four men, Satan who betrayed god, Judas
who betrayed Christ, and for those who betrayed Caesar.
Dante ranks sins very differently than I would as well. Personally I believe he is much too harsh. I
believe that limbo, heresy, and a portion of the lustful should not even be on the list. Limbo should be
removed because these people did not even have a chance to make it to heaven. Heresy should be
removed because most protestants were indoctrinated into their religion and really never had a choice
in what religion they were. People who were lustful but did not commit adultery should not be sent to

Color Purple Archetypes
Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, portrays the main character Celie as an introverted butterfly
who has yet to come out of her cocoon, hiding away from confrontation and actions that could cause
negative reactions. As the story progresses, she blossoms before the reader, becoming more present in
her world where she would otherwise be shuttered in. Her character development is due to the
introduction of two very empowering and independent women, acting as female archetypes
throughout the novel. Shug, a woman with a fiery personality that ignites inspiration in Celie to
further herself as a woman, is the main focal point of the female archetype in this novel. Celie wants
to change herself; not to fit into the mold in which Shug has pushed herself into, but to better her life.
Shug s personality was able to rid Celie of the internal dark cloud living inside her. Shug is clearly
identified as a female archetype throughout the novel; an empowering woman who stands against the
odds she has been faced with. Another female archetype in the novel is Sofia, Mr._____ s (Celie s
husband) daughter in law. Sofia shares many qualities when compared to Shug; however, in a more

becoming a caregiver of sorts. She can also be seen as possessing the hero archetype because Celie
admires Shug and aspires to be similar to her, not in her behavior but her confident personality. Celie
sees how easily it is for Shug to stand up for herself and to act confident around higher male figures,
both are things she has never managed to

better to save her strength. John s relentless restrictions on his wife and uncaring actions towards her
emphasize the theme of patriarchal marriage and can be analyzed using the gender/feminist lens.

Max Weber s Theory Of Bureaucracy
Since its early translations, Essay s in Sociology (1948), Max Weber s theory of bureaucracy has been
used as a platform to study and understand the structures of an organisation, in service sectors.
However, many societies have undergone significant change since the development of the theory, with
the improvement of technology and globalisation, many view the bureaucratic model to no longer
have relevance in contemporary organisational structure in the 21st century. The notion that a
bureaucratic system can no longer be applicable to modern organisations is highly questionable, as
many suggest bureaucracy will continue to be a fundamental part of any organisation, but, the
application and implementation will adapt differently across the diverse range of organisations, even
coexist with contemporary theories, such as post bureaucracy.
It was clear to Weber (1948) that historically there have been great empires from Ancient Egypt to the
Roman Catholic Church and to China, to have encompassed bureaucratic system of sort in order to
develop and achieve their respective organisations. It further transcends to modern Europe and to large
modern capitalist enterprise (Weber, 1948, p.204). However, rapid technological advancement, and a
globalised and diversified world, has seen the transformation of industrial service society, to an
information service society. These changes have had significant impact on organisation structures
(Bolin Harenstam, 2008). It is perceived the key

We save tremendously on labor costs, and work with bulk processes instead of cooking several small
pots, we can make one huge pot and that also means we get much better purchasing prices from
suppliers, says Weins. That obviously gives us much more bargaining power than a small restaurant
that serves a few hundred.
Technology has a significant role to play in this model. Dahmakan s in house development team has
built a routing algorithm in order to find the most efficient routes for its drivers. This takes things like
past trips into account in order to decide which driver should take which delivery round. A forecasting
tool another in house creation uses machine learning to help the company predict demand on
particular days. This allows it become more efficient and keep average food waste below a target of 5

The Second Wave Of Freedom Movement
Since universities did not accept women students, they were denied a college education.
This movement was hard fought. The campaign for women suffrage was met with such fierce
opposition that it took 72 years for the women and their male supporters to finally be successful.
It was on August 19, 1920 that the 19th amendment to the United States Constitution was passed,
giving all American women the right to vote. This victory was just the beginning of fighting for
women s rights. This movement led to the second wave of rebellion, because much still needed to be
done.
THE SECOND WAVE
The Second wave is a time in history that refers to the Women s Liberation Movement. The year,
1963, was marked with great events happening. The Civil Rights Movement was also taking hold at
that time; two great social movements were rising.
The Women s Liberation Movement was thought of as the Second Wave of women seeking reform.
Second wave activist fought for sexual and reproductive rights, but even more importantly fought for
equal rights in education and in the workplace. Women felt that again great unfairness and injustices
were placed on women.
One fact that stands out during this time of second wave movement is that the women of the 60s and
70s were daughters of the women who had joined the workforce during World War II. The women of
the 40s and 50s remembered how difficult it was for them and how they were treated after the war.
They felt the discrimination first hand so

Negligence In Radiology
Everyone who works in the medical field can have mistakes happen to them, it makes us human. The
thing that makes it negligence is when that mistakes happens over and over, or you try to cover up
your mistake instead of making it known. Negligence means you fail to take proper care in a situation.
In radiation many things can go wrong, for example the patient you are going to see needs an x ray of
the right hand and you x ray the left hand, but you don t alert anyone of the mistake you made that is
considered negligence. May people fail to realize the implications that come with a small error can
cause a chain reaction. This is one of the challenges in this profession. This is my research topic to

One of the most common mistakes is to missed diagnosed. Failure to diagnose has been determined to
be the number one reason that radiologists get sued; 75% of radiology lawsuits allege failure to
diagnose or failure to communicate in a timely manner. (Jones, S. (2011, May 11). With this being
said, this is why the radiology program is two years and also you have to pass your boards in order to
practice radiology in a hospital. Not much of radiology is taught at undergraduate level in our medical
colleges. As a result of this, a sizeable number of medical practitioners are not acquainted with the
nuances of imaging modalities. (Sohoni, C. A. (2013, March 23). When you give an incorrect
diagnosis or failure to diagnose and they decide to sue you this can lead to medical malpractice which
means in other words negligence. When there is a case of negligence they have to prove the following
steps, duty of care owned by the RT, breach of duty occurred by the RT, cause of injury due to
negligence of RT and the injury actually occurring. Also the standard of care is often questions if you
provide the same attention and care to all of your patients. This is a multistep system that reveals the
truth of most scenarios. An example of this would be The radiologist owed a duty of care to the patient
and breached this duty when he failed to notify him of his abnormal X ray. (Berlin, L. M. (2010,

The Sacco And Vanzetti Case
The Sacco and Vanzetti case was one that brought a lot of attention and controversy to American
Society. Nicola Sacco was a shoemaker and Bartolommeo Vanzetti was a fish peddler both of which
were Italian immigrants working in Boston. Sacco and Vanzetti were accused of stealing $16,000 from
a shoe factory and murder of the pay master and the guard. In both Chapter 25 and Upton Sinclair s
letter the reader is still left an uncertainty of their innocence or in fact guilty. In our book, the author
sounds a bit biased as if they were convinced that Sacco and Vanzetti were guilty. Both men were
found armed when arrested but the money was never allocated or seen. In contribution to the
evidence, there was witnesses who could testify that they had seen those men by the factory. They

Discussion of Legalization of Drugs Essay
Discussion of Legalization of Drugs
In modern society, nowadays, there is a large debate on whether the drugs should be legalized. Under
this topic, each of us has a different value, so we may not come up with the same position, but people
probably just consider the word legalize and ignore the source of this debate. What are drugs? Why is
it illicit to use drugs?
First of all, what do drugs exactly mean to people? This is fundamental to understand their potential
abuse.
A psychoactive substance is something that people take to change the way they feel, think or behave.
Some of these substances are called drugs, and others, like alcohol and tobacco, are considered

Stimulants can give rise to symptoms suggestive of intoxication, including tachycardia, pupillary
dilation, elevated blood pressure and nausea or vomiting. They can also cause violent and aggressive
behaviour, agitation and impaired judgement. A full blown delusional psychosis may occur.
Hallucinogens are chemically diverse and produce profound mental changes such as euphoria, anxiety,
sensory distortion, vivid hallucinations, delusion, paranoia and depression. These include mescaline
and marijuana.[2]
Drugs abuse can be harmful in a number of ways, both through immediate effects and through damage
to health over time. Such as during pregnancy, the use of drugs can threaten the health of both the
mother and her baby, and it is more likely to increase the infant mortality. Of course, the effects
depend on the drug and on the amount, method and frequency of use. Some drugs are very addictive,
like heroin, while others are less so. But the upshot is that regular drug abuse or sustained exposure to
a drug even for a short period of time can cause physiological dependence, which means that when the
person stops taking drugs, they experience physical withdrawal symptoms and a craving for the drug.
According to scientists different drugs can harm human body quite differently. For instance,
hallucinogens, like phencyclidine, distort users

Foundations Of The Building Transfer
FOUNDATIONS The foundations of the building transfer the weight of the building to the ground.
While foundation is really a general word, normally, every building has many individual foundations,
commonly called footings. Usually each column of the building will have its individual footing. Since
the weight of the building rests on the land (or rock), engineers have to study the properties of the soil
very carefully to ensure it can carry the loads imposed because of the building. It is common for
engineers to determine the safe bearing capacity of your soil after such study. Because the name
suggests, this is the amount of weight per unit area your soil can bear. For instance, the safe bearing
capacity(SBC) for a location could be 20 T/m2, or perhaps tonnes per square metre. That capacity also
changes at different depths of soil. In normal, the deeper one digs, the greater the SBC, unless there
are pockets of weak soil in the earth. To properly support a building, the soil must become very firm
and strong. It is common for the soil near the top of earth to be loose along with weak. If a building is
rested within this soil, it will sink in the earth like a ship in water. Building contractors will commonly
dig until they reach quite firm, strong, soil that can not be dug up easily before building a foundation.
To study the properties of the soil before designing foundations, engineers will request a soil
investigation to be achieved. A soil investigation engineer will

The Tell Tale Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
Written in 1843, The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe incorporates nearly all of the gothic elements.
While this piece of art may not contain all of the gothic elements, it is the epitome of a gothic short
story. In The Tell Tale Heart, the setting seems to be inside an old house, which strengthens the
atmosphere of mystery and suspense. The madness and overall insanity of the narrator illustrates the
sense of high, overwrought emotion. The presence of creaking hinges and the darkness represent the
metonymies of gloom and horror throughout the story. Sustaining the atmosphere of the gothic, the
appropriate vocabulary also maintains the atmosphere of suspense, the overwrought emotion, and the
metonymies of gloom and horror. In combination, the elements that are utilized in this short story
create a gothic masterpiece and each element individually influences the plot of The Tell Tale Heart.
Early on in the story, Edgar Allan Poe introduced the atmosphere of mystery and suspense. In The Tell
Tale Heart, the atmosphere of mystery and suspense is enhanced by the unknown and the narrator s
vigilance. It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived, it haunted
me day and night. Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. This quote

The range of psychological approaches also took great part in the story. When the people are in
dilemma, they try to solve the problems in different ways as they are different fruits of different trees.
The reason is people are treated in different spheres and in different societies, some of them are free
citizens of the free country, some of them slaves of the colonies. Some of them choose the difficult
way to solve the problem, but some of them choose the tricky way to get rid of it. Or people choose
the tricky way without intention of doing it, maybe under pressure of other people or maybe under the

The Anxiety Of Lithium Chloride Causes Mild Illness
Introduction
Animals can be conditioned to display or not display a variety of behaviors and emotions, including
taste preference. This form of conditioning has even been successfully done in humans by using
rotation induced motion sickness after consuming either a familiar or unfamiliar flavored beverage to
create a distaste for the beverage (especially the unfamiliar flavored one) (Arwas, Rolnick, Lubow,
1989).
A very common way to teach rats to dislike a certain taste is to give them injection(s) of lithium
chloride (LiCl) directly after consuming a taste stimulus. The lithium chloride causes mild illness,
which the rats connect to the taste stimulus, essentially because they believe the food/drink they
consumed caused the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For best results, LiCl should be measured as an absolute quantity, not as a volume or concentration
(Nachman Ashe 1973). These studies (among others) show that LiCl is an effective unconditioned
stimulus for taste aversion when administered in correct dosages.
Though many studies have observed the effects of taste aversion, fewer studies have focused on the
influence of feeding on this conditioned aversion. In essence, conditioning is a form of learning, and
learning requires memory. One study used the pond snail Lymnaea to show that food deprivation
lowers blood glucose levels and levels of insulin circulating; therefore, it decreases the animal s ability
to remember the pairing of taste stimulus and the noxious stimulus (Mita Koichi 2014).
This study manipulates the preference for sucrose by administering lithium chloride (LiCl) to the rats
after consumption of sucrose. The researchers sought to determine whether rats given access to free
feeding would display more or less taste aversion than rats who were deprived of food after the LiCl
injection.
Methods Materials
This study used eight adult male Long Evans rats of average size. Rats were housed separately, each in
his own cage on a nocturnal light dark cycle (lights off at 7:00 AM, lights on at 7:00 PM). Each rat

Compare And Contrast Flat Tax Vs Progressive Tax
One of the controversial topics currently surrounds taxes and everyone has their own opinion on who
should be paying what. There are multiple different types of taxing systems that have been proposed
and two of the most talked about are Flat Tax and Progressive Tax. Flat Tax is a system where the
same tax rate is applied to every taxpayer despite what their income is. This system is applied in eight
US states as of 2016. Progressive Tax is a system where the tax rate increases based on your level of
income. It is essential the more you earn, the more you pay in taxes. In my opinion, a progressive tax

A flat tax system is where there is a fixed set tax rate and everyone pays the same tax rate, no matter
their income. The main problem with this system is that it assumes that everyone has the ability to pay
that tax rate. It disregards individuals and families who are low income or are living on government
welfare and can t afford to pay that much in taxes alone. It benefits the rich and is unfair to the rest of
the population. One of the biggest disadvantages of this system is that it cannot replace the current
systems revenue. Half of our federal revenue comes from income taxes. All of the pst proposals for a
flat tax system have all failed to show that it could bring in the same amount of revenue that our
current system does. The flat tax system says that the rate set would be a low rate, however that would

Conscription In Canada Essay
WWII was a defining moment in Canadian history, transforming a quiet country on the verge of global
affairs into a crucial opponent in the 20th century s most tragic battle. Canada played a vital role in the
Battle of the Atlantic and the air war over Germany, and sacrificed thousands of lives. Between 1939
and 1945 more than one million Canadian men and women served full time in the armed services and
more than 43,000 were killed (Stacey, July 15, 2013 ). In November 1944, after extreme losses in

How The Ideal Love Is Unattainable
Known as one of the greatest British poets, George Noel Gordon Byron, more commonly known as
Lord Byron, became popular for his use of the English language and showing his romantic lifestyle.
With his astounding use of writing, he goes down in history as a leader in the Romantic movement.
Not only did he exemplify an important role model during this era of writing, but considered the most
notorious and flamboyant poet from 1785 until 1830, when the Romantic Movement ended. Many of
his poems published as satires and root back to his ability to express his thoughts about things going
on in his life, specifically his childhood. Writing about how the ideal love is unattainable comes
through commonly through Byron s works, this conclusion stems from his childhood. Byron grew up
with an ill illusion of women with his mom, Katherine Gordon, being diagnosed with bipolar disorder
and his nurse, May Gray, sexually abusing him (Elledge 33). The readers overlook the oddity of the
content of his writings because of the drowning of charm and intelligence. His emotion filled literary
works drew readers in after he poured out his unconventional lifestyle into words that flowed together
into infamous poems. Unfortunately, even though Byron had a successful life, he died at a young age
while in the beautiful country of Greece, following romantic adventures of bravery and courage
(Bloom and Grundmann, 169). Born as the sixth Lord in the Byron family, his aristocratic family

Theme Of Women In The Things They Carried
In Tim O Brien s narrative, The Things They Carried, characters are shown going through
excruciatingly difficult war struggles. There are many intriguing themes that O Brien is sharing in the
text, but the most striking is the differences between the way each person handles war. People in the
story cope by imagining things for motivation and pleasure. Imagination can help soldiers, but also
does not help in war when the coping distracts one from important situations. The most common
coping mechanism in the war stories has to do with women because they were used as security
blankets during war. Soldiers use women, imagined and real, to offer an escape from war, but due to
their inability to understand the war, the women cannot help them cope.
Imagining women does not help soldiers cope in war when reality is propped up next to it. In the short
story, The Things They Carried , Lieutenant Jimmy Cross loved a girl named Martha so much that she
took away his focus on the war. Tim O Brien sets the scene by stating, First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross
carried letters from a girl named Martha...They were not love letters, but Lieutenant Cross was hoping
(O Brien 1). Cross carried letters from Martha with him to help him escape from the war. The author
purposefully uses the word hope to portray to the reader that Martha did not love him, and that he
knew that was true. The word brings lots of context to the quote because it is explaining how hoping

Essay On Odysseus Being A Hero
A hero is defined as a person who is risking their life to save others. There are many differents types
of heroes, such as Superman or Captain America. But the true heroes are the ones that were formed
during the ancient times because those people set an example for the heroes today. On the topic of
heroes Heroes, Odysseus from the book The Odyssey, by Homer has displayed many reasons as to
why he should be a hero and why he should not. For instance, Odysseus appears as a very determined
character that never lost hope in getting back home. On the other hand, Odysseus is very self centered
and does not listen to other people s advice, therefore this caused a lot of deaths. Odysseus is also to
be known as not loyal to his spouse Penelope because as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Circe and Calypso were the women that Odysseus slept with on the islands, therefore he cheated on
his wife. On the other hand, while Odysseus was gone Penelope however did not cheat on Odysseus,
therefore she is considered to be loyal. So although Odysseus is incredibly intelligent, he is NOT a
hero.
Throughout The Odyssey, Odysseus has been leading an entire crew through multiple islands. Now
Odysseus may be the smartest man in the world, but listening to his crew members was something that
he regretted, therefore Odysseus is displayed as self centered. Odysseus has showed many examples
of not listening to advice from people, such as the advice Eurylochus gave him to not send his men
back to Circe s island to see what is on it. But of course Odysseus does not pick up her advice and
Circe turns his men into pigs, therefore Odysseus is just throwing their lives away like dispensing bait
to fish. But if Odysseus had listened to Eurylochus advice then he would have continued his journey
back home and he would still have mast of his crew members. Odysseus also neglects the advice to
not fight

Female Crickets Calling Song Essay
From our experiment, we are unable to reject that female crickets do not choose their mates based on
their calling song. The t test value did not give us a significant difference in the female s view time of
the male s for us to say that our hypothesis is valid. Looking at the values from Figure 4 though we
can see the total viewing time among the different males, which shows the male with the louder
calling song generally had more time spent in front of his side. There have been studies that show the
female does choose the male based on his calling song (Gray, 1997). Some of our data slightly show
this. In figure 4, the male with the louder chirp is viewed the most, but there is not enough in the
difference of male view times for us to reject the null hypothesis. One thing that would have made the
results more accurate is if the male crickets would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The observation tank took awhile to set up. The first few trials the crickets were getting into the other
male s area, the female s area, and out of the tank. It was not until after the experiment was completed
that a new way to redesign the observation tank was thought of. Perhaps having a more secluded tank
for each male, one that was sound proof for each male but able to be heard by the female. The
recording microphones were of cheap quality, and a lot of feedback/static was recorded along with the
chirps, making the sound unusable. If expenses were not an issue a higher quality of microphone
would have made the recordings of the male crickets chirp more accurate. Multiple sound analyzer
would only read the volume of the noise, and did not allow for an option to record the sound and play
it back. Being able to find a sound analyzer that stored/recorded sound, and would allow for
comparisons of two recordings would have been ideal to use in this

Persuasive Essay On Social Media Snapchat
Social media tricks people to believe others are living a ravisher life than they really are. They post
only the highlights of their lives, and never the negative. It makes others view them falsely and more
presentable than they actually are, which makes those viewing their profiles feel less satisfied with
themselves and their lives. There are even some people who drop all social media because of how
terrible it makes them feel, but there are also others who thrive for the attention of social media and go
through ridiculous tasks in order to take the perfect picture. There have been many disputes over how
social media websites such as Instagram or Facebook affects ones self esteem, it can knock them
down. One might say that social media is a tool that helps us get connected with the rest of the world,
but it is truly a recipe for disaster. One of my really close friends Lara is insanely obsessed with
Instagram and Snapchat, she is on it every second of the day. Once she and her boyfriend broke up she
started stalking him every day, bible. She d go on every social media website he had an account for,
until one day she saw a Snapchat story (a story on snapchat is only available to the user s friends for
twenty four hours). The story reveled her ex and a new girl, ever since Lara has posted an insane
number of pictures on Instagram, some of them are very catfish, they don t look like her at all. This
makes Lara think less of herself, as she has to edit her pictures for them

The Three Causes And Effects Of Corruption In Kenya
Kenya is one of the most corrupt countries in the world due to a long legacy of corrupt leaders
according to the recent transparency international standings(145/176). It is so visible, that it is
impossible for a citizen or even a visitor to deny its presence. Corruption is a problem that is engulfed
everywhere around the globe, in some countries more than others and it was not until a few years ago
that the international donor community recognized corruption as one of the main responsibilities for
the failure of development in Africa .Corruption hinders economic development and gradually slows
down the democratic process and stability within a political system. The money gained out from
corruption does not trickle down to the people nor is it used to make any development, instead is it
used for private gain and to fund luxurious living. Corruption in Africa can be seen as both systemic
and generalized, systemic since it is more of a rule than an exception and generalized since it is not
limited to just one sector. There are three types of corruption that are found in a society, but will only
mention two of them. The first type of corruption is described as grand corruption: which is corruption
acts done by the political elite. They use their powers to gain private themselves, it is known as the
worst form of corruption as it s responsible for destroying communities at large. The second type of
corruption is bureaucratic corruption, also known as petty corruption. In this

The American Prison System Is A Vital Portion Of American...
Merriam Webster defines prison as a building where people are kept as punishment for a crime or
while they are waiting to go to court. In the United States, there is a large prison system consisting of
federal and state prisons. The American prison system is a vital portion of American culture. Crime
runs rampant throughout our country and it is up to our prisons to punish people for these crimes,
maybe even assist in loweingr the amount of crimes that occur. There are several different types of

Numerous prison sentences last several years; even taking decades of a person s life, for countless
people prison is the only life they are familiar with. The U.S. prison system is necessary; however, the
current question is whether it is effective. The prison system should be reformed so that the prisons are
not overcrowded and that prisoners have an improved quality of life in and out of prison.
The biggest issue with prisons right now is that they are extremely overcrowded. This problem is
attributed to the rising crime rate. Currently the crime rate is fairly high, Nationwide, law enforcement
made an estimated 11,302,102 arrests in 2013 (FBI). Not all of these arrests were sentenced prison
time, nonetheless thousands were. 631,200 people were incarcerated in prisons last year (Carson).
Several people argue that the crime rate is lower than it has been, however the best crime rate is 0.
Prisons aid in lowering the crime rate because criminals cannot commit crimes while they are locked
up and currently there are around 2 million criminals not committing crimes (Prisoners), nevertheless
once those prisoners are released they return to a life of crime. Statistics show, two thirds of prisoners
will reoffend (Criminal Justice). One of the main roles of prison is to rehabilitate prisoners so that they
will not commit other crimes; however, it obviously is not working. To alleviate this problem, prisons
should counsel prisoners and educate them on why crime is

  • 2. Designing A Computer Model Of A Human Body If you are new to 3D, you may wonder what exactly the term rendering means. Rendering is the process of developing a life like image or animation from any 2D or 3D model with the help of computer programs. The model generated holds three dimensional qualities such as shadows, texture, lighting and viewpoint. Rendering can take a few minutes or even up to days for a single image per frame. In a 3D graphics context, rendering is a leading interactive media process and the last stage in the pipeline. Rendering has been gradually improving in terms of the speed as computer has become more rapid and the breakthrough from programmers. Rendering has been dated all the way back in the 1960s, and American computer graphics director William Fetter was the first to create a computer model of a human body. William Fetter administers the progress development of a computer program as he was attempting to come up with a new process which allowed him to widen the layout efficiency inside Boeing s airplane cockpits. Fetter defines the process by calling it computer graphics . It was one of Fetter s partner, Ivan Sutherland who transformed things in motion in 1963. The graphical communication system name Sketchpad enabled one to interactively create an image on the computer display for the first time. This granted Fetter the ability to create the first ever three dimensional image of the human body through computer graphics. It was called the First Man or also known as Boeing Man . ... Chronic Pain Case Study Essay Chronic pain is often concurrent with depression and many agents used for the treatment of depression are CYP2D6 inhibitors which interfere with the metabolism and pharmacological action of tramadol, a common agent used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain. The case reported is proposes caution should be taken in initiating or titrating tramadol in patients currently taking medications with strong CYP2D6 inhibition properties, especially in combination with other serotonergic agents. This will help with identification of potential drug interactions and prompt more specific attention to any signs and symptoms of serotonin toxicity. This fear has been elevated so much, in fact, that in the 1960s there were teachers from Kentucky, Okla, Tulsa, and Louisville that almost lost their jobs for assigning the novel to their classes. As a result of this, the book was prohibited in many school libraries (Dutra). Many people in North America also find the references to sexual acts and prostitution to be completely disturbing, and consider them to be pornographic and encouraging of premarital sex, homosexuality and perversion (Reiff). This concern was much more prominent in the years leading up to the 1970s, when most of society was not open to this type of literature. Additionally, rebellion and deception are consistently displayed in Holden s thoughts and actions, and his obsession with human intimacy may send the message to young people that sexual intercouse is an appropriate thing for a person to discuss and think about regularly. When accounting for all of this, it is difficult to argue that the The Catcher in the Rye should not be censored. Despite the high amounts of foul language, deception, and vulgarity that many justify as reason enough to ban the novel, many critics argue that the story gives young readers that ... • 6. Advances in IT Topics Advances in IT Topics In recent years, Information Technology has had advances in big data storage and health information systems. Big data companies are developing products for storage capacity and support services growth, with many leveraging local file based storage with object based cloud storage (Coughlin, 2012). And, initiatives in advances for personalized medicine include technologies that link informatics with genotype and phenotype data to produce custom built solutions to illness (Welch, 2009). Improvements brought by big data include creating more transparency among stakeholders by making big data more accessible (Manyika, 2011). Having access to and being able to manipulate data sets enables a different way of decision making to bring more science into management. Companies can segment and analyze data in near real time. The analysis improves decision making, minimizes risks, and uncover more insights to enable new innovation. According to (Manyika, 2011), there was questions as to how corporate marketing functions would need to evolve and how business processes could change. There was the question of how companies would leverage assets, particularly data assets, to create more value. There was also a question of how big data might interrupt business models. Cloud computing moves applications and databases to warehouses and poses new security challenges, which have not been well understood and many research problems are not yet identified (Wang, 2009). ... • 7. Romantic Comedy Genre Analysis Genre in film began as a sort of commercial tool which showed audiences recognizable film content in order to attract customers (Campbell and Swenson). As the film industry grew, this content began to be more specialized, allowing the audience to know exactly what to expect from the film they were seeing. For example, films within the same genre share the same myths, iconography, and conventions. This means they have similarities in aspects such as plot, characters, themes, moods, ways of doing things particular to that genre, and repeated visual and oral elements such as images and sounds. Often genre films are influenced by the social culture of the time in which they are produced, and the content in the film tend to propose a solution to the current problems within society. These resolutions are often portrayed by a main protagonists who is presented with a conflict; the film then concludes with the character reaching a solution to the problem that is not only logical, but moral as well. Within the romantic comedy genre specifically, the storyline usually follows a couple rather than a protagonist. The romantic comedy, or rom com, genre has often been ruled a purely escapist and conservative genre, accused of unquestioningly presenting unrealistic romantic fantasies for passive audiences (MacDowell). From its earliest days, romantic comedy films have mostly focused on finding romance and the idea that love is the key to a fulfilled and delighted life. However, this ... People had to face problems that seemed common to them but rather irrelevant to us. They faced problems like discrimination, and sexism, which could be argued still prominent, but not as common as back then. The characters from the book The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, and The Help by Kathryn Stockett lived in this time and therefore faced these problems which setup the main plots and themes in these two books. Esperanza wants to be independent, with a job, and a dream house of her own, but since she is a girl, she is doubted by society. This is a prime example of sexism in the story and it shows how people treated women unfairly back then and gave them less potential than which they would have today. This gives the women in Esperanzas society less hope of becoming what they dreamed of being, and giving them less drive to achieve their goals. Another character, Sally, from The House on Mango Street is also faced with similar situations like Esperanza s. Sally is faced with sexism being set to strict, unrightful rules like not being able to talk on the phone. Sally decided to get married and move in with her husband at a young age because she liked that he provided for her. Sally made the mistake with moving in with him at a young age and is a victim of sexism and it set to very strict rules that she is obliged to because of her knowledge that the women are supposed to follow the mens orders and stay at home and take care of their family. Essay on Little Women Little Women, Louisa May Alcott Book Theme: In the arduous journey from childhood to adulthood, a young woman is faced with two things that need great attention and balance the progress of her individual social standing, and the welfare of her immediate family. Main Conflict: The book does not really follow the traditional single plot line characteristic of many stories (especially during the time it was written). Alcott illustrated the roads the four March girls Amy, Beth, Jo, and Meg take in their lives as they become young women. The storyline includes many mini conflicts, such as Jo s writing, or Beth s illness, or Laurie s inclination to love Jo despite Amy s affections. Generally speaking, the one overlying conflict stands as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How Louisa May Alcott emphasizes on certain aspect of each March girl that sets them apart from the other three is quite intriguing. For the most part, this book seemed more directed at a feminine audience. You d have thought I could figure that out from the title, but I chose the book because of its reputation. Although it was slow and gradual (after all, the story followed the life of these little women), getting through the book was like growing up with the March girls. I like that Jo was a fiery tomboy, that Beth was shy and reserved, that Meg was all knowing and wise, and that Amy was naive and proud. It was even more enjoyable to see them grow into adults that contradicted some of their former ways. Jo for instance, exhibited great change, especially when she burned her old sensationalist stories in Mr. Bhaer s fire. This symbolic event included a step away from Jo s old behavior and towards the life of the woman she was meant to be. I did a little research on the books themes to get some ideas on what Alcott was trying to convey in Little Women. What I found was a little discouraging. Initially, Alcott s priority was to show how young women (more specifically from that time period) had to face two premier choices. Many had to choose between staying and caring for their immediate family, or to move on and pursue their life s interests. Now although the four March girls moved on to better things, ... Some people consider nature as the purest form of natural expression. Some artists consider nature as a medium of art. But what is a medium of art? Art is expressed to be man made, a form of human expression, a tale of beauty or tragedy. The world is a beautiful place filled with unique creatures, beautiful scenery and an overwhelming sense of power and importance. But a medium is considered as materials used to help express the viewpoint of the artist. In this evaluation argument one will see the conflicts between seeing nature as a contributor to art. where if it can be used as a material that inspires the artist, can be used to express emotion, and help support the point of view of the art work. One would think that nature would have nothing to do with art. But it seems that art can be found centered upon this idea. Nature is used in many different forms either to build a giant building or to just exists and to be admired. In many cases trees and other natural elements are used as art supplies. One can view the use of nature being used as a medium of art. Using the materials as a source of expressing the viewpoint of the artists. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... i) Substantive Breach: If the reserve was properly created in accordance with the text of the treaty there may not be a breach in the Crown s obligations. To create a reserve in accordance with the Indian Act, the Supreme Court of Canada set out the requirements in the Ross River Deana Council decision. These requirements, as applied by Wewaykum Indian Band v. Canada, include an act by the Crown to set apart Crown land for use of an Indian band combined with an intention to create a reserve on the part of persons having authority to bind the Crown and practical steps by the Crown and the Indian band to realize that intention. The Crown set apart land to create a reserve when the Indian Agent appointed a surveyor to survey land according to the entitlements in Treaty 7. The Redfoot Nation realized these intentions when they were vocal regarding their dissatisfaction on the location of the land, however practical steps were also taken by the Crown when the Superintendent General of Indian Affairs moved the Redfoot to the surveyed lands for their use as a reserve. However, many societies have undergone significant change since the development of the theory, with the improvement of technology and globalisation, many view the bureaucratic model to no longer have relevance in contemporary organisational structure in the 21st century. The notion that a bureaucratic system can no longer be applicable to modern organisations is highly questionable, as many suggest bureaucracy will continue to be a fundamental part of any organisation, but, the application and implementation will adapt differently across the diverse range of organisations, even coexist with contemporary theories, such as post bureaucracy. Nicola Sacco was a shoemaker and Bartolommeo Vanzetti was a fish peddler both of which were Italian immigrants working in Boston. Sacco and Vanzetti were accused of stealing $16,000 from a shoe factory and murder of the pay master and the guard. In both Chapter 25 and Upton Sinclair s letter the reader is still left an uncertainty of their innocence or in fact guilty. In our book, the author sounds a bit biased as if they were convinced that Sacco and Vanzetti were guilty. Both men were found armed when arrested but the money was never allocated or seen. In contribution to the evidence, there was witnesses who could testify that they had seen those men by the factory. They were described as anarchists and brought America s ... Under this topic, each of us has a different value, so we may not come up with the same position, but people probably just consider the word legalize and ignore the source of this debate. What are drugs? Why is it illicit to use drugs? First of all, what do drugs exactly mean to people? This is fundamental to understand their potential abuse. These include mescaline and marijuana.[2] Drugs abuse can be harmful in a number of ways, both through immediate effects and through damage to health over time. Such as during pregnancy, the use of drugs can threaten the health of both the mother and her baby, and it is more likely to increase the infant mortality. Of course, the effects depend on the drug and on the amount, method and frequency of use. Some drugs are very addictive, like heroin, while others are less so. But the upshot is that regular drug abuse or sustained exposure to a drug even for a short period of time can cause physiological dependence, which means that when the person stops taking drugs, they experience physical withdrawal symptoms and a craving for the drug. • 28. Foundations Of The Building Transfer FOUNDATIONS The foundations of the building transfer the weight of the building to the ground. While foundation is really a general word, normally, every building has many individual foundations, commonly called footings. Usually each column of the building will have its individual footing. Since the weight of the building rests on the land (or rock), engineers have to study the properties of the soil very carefully to ensure it can carry the loads imposed because of the building. It is common for engineers to determine the safe bearing capacity of your soil after such study. Because the name suggests, this is the amount of weight per unit area your soil can bear. For instance, the safe bearing capacity(SBC) for a location could be 20 T/m2, or perhaps tonnes per square metre. That capacity also changes at different depths of soil. In normal, the deeper one digs, the greater the SBC, unless there are pockets of weak soil in the earth. To properly support a building, the soil must become very firm and strong. It is common for the soil near the top of earth to be loose along with weak. If a building is rested within this soil, it will sink in the earth like a ship in water. Building contractors will commonly dig until they reach quite firm, strong, soil that can not be dug up easily before building a foundation. To study the properties of the soil before designing foundations, engineers will request a soil investigation to be achieved. A soil investigation engineer will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Anxiety Of Lithium Chloride Causes Mild Illness Introduction Animals can be conditioned to display or not display a variety of behaviors and emotions, including taste preference. This form of conditioning has even been successfully done in humans by using rotation induced motion sickness after consuming either a familiar or unfamiliar flavored beverage to create a distaste for the beverage (especially the unfamiliar flavored one) (Arwas, Rolnick, Lubow, 1989). A very common way to teach rats to dislike a certain taste is to give them injection(s) of lithium chloride (LiCl) directly after consuming a taste stimulus. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For best results, LiCl should be measured as an absolute quantity, not as a volume or concentration (Nachman Ashe 1973). These studies (among others) show that LiCl is an effective unconditioned stimulus for taste aversion when administered in correct dosages. Though many studies have observed the effects of taste aversion, fewer studies have focused on the influence of feeding on this conditioned aversion. In essence, conditioning is a form of learning, and learning requires memory. One study used the pond snail Lymnaea to show that food deprivation lowers blood glucose levels and levels of insulin circulating; therefore, it decreases the animal s ability to remember the pairing of taste stimulus and the noxious stimulus (Mita Koichi 2014). This study manipulates the preference for sucrose by administering lithium chloride (LiCl) to the rats after consumption of sucrose. The researchers sought to determine whether rats given access to free feeding would display more or less taste aversion than rats who were deprived of food after the LiCl injection. There are many intriguing themes that O Brien is sharing in the text, but the most striking is the differences between the way each person handles war. People in the story cope by imagining things for motivation and pleasure. Imagination can help soldiers, but also does not help in war when the coping distracts one from important situations. The most common coping mechanism in the war stories has to do with women because they were used as security blankets during war. Soldiers use women, imagined and real, to offer an escape from war, but due to their inability to understand the war, the women cannot help them cope. Imagining women does not help soldiers cope in war when reality is propped up next to it.
